"Then we also have some really great lessons coming from some of our interns and surfing instructors too, that will be helping people. The difference this year probably the big left turn this year is that, well, the concert, of course. On Friday night, we'll have templeton Thompson singing for us and it's a really it's a small event. So it's very intimate and very cool. And then all day Saturday we'll be in sessions. And then on Saturday night we'll have a wine and cheese because we're in Santa Barbara county and they have a lot of wine and cheese and we did that last year. It was really mellow and beautiful. But we got the feedback from everybody that they wanted to do some more hands on. People wanted to be able to get in there themselves and work with some horses. So we're going to have sessions on Sunday. And the booking doesn't open until March 1 for those because it will be first come first served. But you can work with Monty and ask and bring your own horse if you'd like or use one of our transition horses. And you can just show up and say, you know what? I want to learn, I want to do a join up. I want to experience a join up with Mahdi, or I want Jamie to teach me my horse to come to the mounting block in 45 minutes or less. And this should be easy. Right? And remedial issues. You know, we've got little groundwork we need to do or anything in the saddle that they want to do with their own horse will be great. So Sunday will be booked with private Sessions, but the people who are there with just a ticket holder of the VIP tickets only VIP tickets. We're only selling VIP tickets and you can come and watch too and learn or watch Mark bolander out on our mountain trail experience that's in the infield. So it's going to fill up about half of our infield with what would appear to be something right out of the mountaintops and it's really beautiful. How many people can come? I know it's limited, right? We will only have 50 tickets available. Now, some people are rolling over tickets from last year couldn't come because of COVID. So we could balloon up to maybe 60 people or so total. But it's very quiet and intimate. And if you know farm, we're about 75 acres. So there's a lot of room and a lot of trees and a lot of space. And so it's going to be working out a deal with the hotel too, so that'll be listed on the website..

"Considered from NPR news on Michelle Martin Across the country map draws are getting busy sketching out new voting districts using the numbers from the 2020 census But it's not just the congressional districts that we hear so much about that are getting an update Most school districts cities and counties are also required to redistrict every ten years and in California Santa Barbara county is going about things a little differently this year Here's Benjamin purpur from member station KCB X Santa Barbara county is home to nearly half a million people and has been called a land of extremes In the southern coastal area you've got montecito That's where prince Harry and duchess Meghan of the British royal family recently moved And then you've got the northern part of the county where many agricultural workers of the region live And for years lower income Latino residents in the north have been drawn into long shaped voting districts with much wealthier and wider residents in the south who often have very different political needs and wants But this year things might be different I mean this is the first time that we've had an independent commission for redistricting in Santa Barbara county That's making turley she along with ten other Santa Barbara county residents are now in charge of drawing voting lines this year before it was the county elected officials who would get together and come up with their own districts themselves Turley says the new commission grants them independence Without interference from special interests or politicians or the county supervisors were an independent commission So that's really really important This kind of independent organization for redistricting has become more and more popular at the state level but now some smaller governments especially in California are giving it a go Michael Lee a redistricting expert at the nonprofit Brennan center for justice says while there's not a lot of evidence yet the states that have implemented independent commissions are less gerrymandered and some of the most electorally responsive in the country meaning Democrats went more votes they would more seats than as Republicans would more votes They win more seats than most people would tell you that that's what democracy should look like But Lee says independent commissions aren't a cure all for voting rights and fair representation It is not a solution for everything that people see or have problems within our politics Sometimes the difference is whether you get an a plus or whether you just move from an F to like a B minus but even moving from an F to a B minus is a really big change It will result in better representation One way the local commission is trying to raise their grade is through public input They're holding community meetings and All right so this is the county map drawing towards they've got an online tool which lets anyone draw maps of districts as a form of public testimony Lucas sucker is with cause a local advocacy group in Santa Barbara county He shows me how it works And let's zoom in here Zucker says he hopes the independent commission will group together some of the rural agricultural areas in the north county to form one comprehensive district He says that would give residents unified voting power and accounting representative interested in their specific needs And in fact if you take a drive through that part of the county it's hard to make sense of why they would be divided in.
