"President Trump's niece is trying to revive her lawsuit. After a judge dismissed her lawsuit against former president Trump and his siblings, Mary Trump filed a notice of appeal that said the dismissal was an error. The judge had said Mary Trump signed contractual releases with her family that barred her claims, but her appeal suggested those releases may not be enforceable. Mary Trump has claimed Donald Trump marrying Trump Barry and the late Robert Trump threatened to bankrupt her and try to defraud her out of her rightful share of an inheritance from her grandfather. Trump and his siblings have denied it and the former president has filed a counter claim. Aaron kittery, ABC News New York. "Think that the pick to win the American League Cy Young award is fairly apparent. We've already mentioned his name, Luis Castillo. What do you think? Louise Cassidy was a great one. I mean, that guy was dominant once they traded for him in Seattle. I view him as a pitcher whose stuff in any given year can play up to the extent that he could absolutely win and he's also so incredibly durable. I see a path for him to win 16 to 18 games for sure with excellent peripherals. I like to pick a lot. I hadn't considered him as strongly as you did. He would definitely be in my handful of guys that would qualify as such. His odds are better than Kevin gausman. But Luis Castillo is absolutely on the short list of guys that can win that thing. Let's go nationally. I like Austin Riley buster at 14 to one. So he finished 7th in 2021 and 6 last year in the voting and played 319 games across those two seasons. We know he's coming and we know he posts every single day. Total basis is my favorite cumulative hitting stat. Henry Aaron always said was the set that mattered most to him. Austin rally has more of those over the last two years than any hitter in baseball. And what I like most about Austin Riley and you've done some stuff on October in the past. He's improving in small ways that really add up. So last season, he posted the highest walk rate of his career and not coincidentally the lowest chase rate of his career. His quality of contact is absurd. If those numbers continue to get better, he's going to have a year where he scores a hundred runs, hits 45 bombs with a 120 RBI, Acuna sitting in front of him, Harris is sitting in front of him, and also sitting behind him. I think this might be that be the year that Austin Riley wins the MVP of the national league. Yeah, Austin Riley, someone who clearly attacks his profession in the way he reminds me of Paul Goldschmidt actually. You know, in terms of he just looks at each element of his game and he's constantly trying to get better and that's part of the reason why the braves were interested in drafting him while at times when he struggled that their internal conversation been just wait just wait. He's someone who constantly works. My son was trying to sell me actually yesterday coincidentally on Matt Olson as an MVP candidate. And I'm like, nah, he's not that type of 8 tends to have some peaks and valleys. I'm not ready to go there. I think the most obvious choice for nationally MVP is Manny Machado. What do you think? Many Machado seemingly a finalist every single year. He's going to have a lot more RBI opportunities this year, presumably at Fernando tatis is healthy. The team is going to be really good. He's playing for a new contract. Machado is probably the favorite. I just think when you look at Austin Riley's profile with those odds with the way that he like, the thing about Riley is he gets better every year. So I'm going to continue to bet on that stock until I see that start the flat line. Many Machado we know is a full fledged superstar who's going to the Hall of Fame who had a contract year might want to have might wind up having the best season of his career. I like it a lot. Yeah, coming up, we'll be talking with AJ preller, general manager of the Padres about Manny Machado and his contract situation. I think what AJ says, he went a little further in this than I expected him to when we when we talked to him the other day. All right, national league side. I like Julio or 18 to one. This is the Dodgers ace. We thought it was going to be walker Bueller, of course he got hurt, you know, Clinton Kershaw sort of handed him the baton. But Julio is saying, what about me guys? I mean, last year I led the national league in the array plus. It was the first sub one whip season of my career. We know that team is going to be great and so is city. The run prevention is outstanding. The base runner avoidance is outstanding. He's in a pitch this season at 26 years old. He's been in our consciousness forever because he was such a prodigious prospect, but he's just really entering his prime right now. The innings have finally reached a point where he's going to be able to accumulate high strikeout totals and high wind turtles. I think this guy's good about as anybody to win the Cy Young in the national league, based on how good that team is. And based on his trajectory. I'm going to go captain obvious and look for repeat performance from sandy Alcantara. To me, he's the absolute horse. He's the modern day Roy halliday in the national league. Does that make sense? It makes sense. What I need to do for you buster is look into how pitchers perform the season after throwing that many innings for the first time in their careers. If there's a track record of guys who bounce back and are able to replicate it, I'm absolutely on board. What would worry me about cancer is working well last year is that that was so much to do and so much to duplicate year over year. That's actually a pretty good research study. I have to consider him among the favorites for sure. The combination of dominance and durability was sir. But I want to make sure that he's not going to tail off just based upon recent precedent. Before you go off and ruin someone's life, I got some quick headers for you. Rob Thompson coming up the man at the Phillies manager. What thought you have about him as he goes into his first full year? That guy got everything right as manager of the Phillies until game 6 of the World Series. And if it weren't for rob Thompson, they're not even reaching the playoffs, let alone game 6 of the World Series. That team played at a 95 win pace from the day that he took over at the beginning of June. And here's what I knew. Here's what I knew that this team was different than all the others and rob Thompson was better than all the others. This team at 32 and 20 in the two months that Bryce Harper missed. I remember the day after Bryce Harper's injury that you got hit in the hand by that Blake's now fastball, right? You asked me on this podcast. Could the Philly sustain it? And I said, absolutely not. They don't have the depth to absorb that kind of injury. They rutter the ship. They went 12 games over 500 with their best player, the nationally MVP from the season before, out. He came back, he bought into the system, rob Thompson instead of the ship and did as good a job managing that club as any I have seen in my baseball lifetime. Yeah, I remember when they fired Joe Girardi put in rob, and I know both those guys for a long time, you know, my feeling was this was the case of the Philly scapegoating boy was I wrong.

"When will they stop playing this sport? I don't mean it like that. I mean, like every day, my confidence that the Mariners will do the thing that lapses a little bit further. Well, they can't win, but the Orioles lost at least so if that keeps happening. It's still back into the playoffs. Yeah. But there's not a ton of steak playoff ways. Again, don't want to attempt Mariners fan fate here. I'm just saying, if we say that without tempting, I think. If we go by the playoff ads at your website, Meg, I'm just looking at my website. Your website. I just appearances here. But there are, I believe, ten teams that have 100% playoff odds. Maybe they haven't all clinched technically, but maybe they have. I don't know, but they're all locks according to the playoff ads. And then you have the Mariners at 99.8% still. A virtual lock as we will call it, even though it's the Mariners. And so we probably shouldn't say that about them. You have them. They round up to a hundred. And then you have the Padres as we speak. And again, this is all before Wednesday results. But 97.9% for the Padres, so they're at 98%. So that takes us to 11 teams that are either locks or virtual locks according to the playoff ads and the projections. And then you have the Phillies at 84.8% and the brewers at 17.3%. So according to the playoff ads, like the last NL wild card spot, is really the only one up for grabs. Now, of course, the Mariners could still blow this thing. There are other teams that have not been eliminated and of course there are other stakes and playoffs applications here home field advantage and match ups and top seeds in the league and so forth and those things do matter to some extent and of course entering Wednesday. We have Atlanta and the mets are in a deadlock atop the NL east and there's intrigued there. They're going to play each other and if they can't actually get those games in, then that would be super fun. Oh, less fun than if one of them was going to be in one of them was going to be out as it is. It's just one of them will have to play an extra round. So there are stakes here. There's motivation, but it's not quite in or out. It's just slightly bore advantageous or slightly less advantageous play out positioning. So the stakes aren't as high as they want to have been in a similar race. I'm just saying like we talked about this recently because of the fan crash post about this and the lack of intensity and suspense at the end of the season. And that is still true. They're just not a lot of playoff spots up for grabs and if you're not super into seeding and home field, then maybe that's not getting you going. But there is a lot to enjoy. I feel like I'm just enjoying the baseball. Yes. And seeing good players put the finishing touches on their seasons, players like sandy Alcantara, Joey menesis who we will not see. Yeah, we will not see them for many, many months. Yes. Join Vanessa's picked on senior counter and hit a Homer off him. Why do they have to pick on each other? These players that I appreciate. But it's nice to see them and appreciate them and savor them while we can because they're going to go away for a while. And we're not going to see them play for quite some time. And then you do have players who are putting together incredible seasons, whether it's chads or ohtani, et cetera, et cetera. There's a lot that I think this is left to enjoy it. And maybe that's just because I kind of consume baseball now almost more through a player centric individual season type or even like league wide way than through the lens of any particular team. So maybe my view is skewed a bit, but I'm not feeling like okay, let's get this over with already. Let's start the tournament. Let's enjoy the rest of the regular season while we have it because we will miss it when it's gone. Yeah, I think that that is a good reminder to your point. There are guys who we will get to see in the playoffs, but other guys where it's like farewell till spring. And so we should take a moment to appreciate those players in particular because, you know, we'll miss them when they're gone. And it is, you know, on the one hand, I feel very nervous at times they'll be like, I feel nervous. Why do I feel nervous and then I'll be like, I don't remember why I feel nervous. But it is nice to have a path to some stakes in a season where we have at times felt like the stakes were lacking. So yeah, you know, I really feel like they should just play that mets brave series in a neutral site. Like, what are we doing then? Yeah. So I do have a fusillade of stat class. I've already begun it there, but I guess I can continue with a few more here. If I saw something or a line has a little bit of glass and then the teas are taken. Analyze it for us in a minute. Is to dance.

"45 powered by maximus. Moving people and technology forward. All right, well, a lot of celebrating in Detroit. Not for us. No, actually a bad day for football all around The Washington commanders apparently unaware Detroit is in the central time zone because lions sell the burgundian gold without a first down for the first quarter and a half, they scored the first 22 points of a 36 27 victory over the commanders. What was the problem with the first half offense Ron Rivera? They did a couple of things as far as lime stunt. That they actually executed pretty good and we were a little late picking up. Okay, coach, but that doesn't explain why the defense couldn't stop the lion's offense, missing its entire starting interior offensive line. I saw as we gave a big place exposed to place and you can't give those plays up. You allow an explosive plane that throws you off. And that's really if you look at most of their scoring drives, I believe there's at least one play over 25 yards, I think. Yeah, and plus Washington went for two on multiple touchdowns there in the second half. They got only one of them, so the chasing the points doesn't play in their favor. Carson Wentz took 5 sacks, one of them in their own end zone for a safety, through an interception, his counterpart Jared Goff, two of his four touchdowns go to aman ra saint Brown, who in addition to having one of the greatest names in sports, said in NFL record with his 6th straight game with at least 8 catches and a score. As for the ravens, Baltimore is still trying to figure out what happened. They were winning by 21 points in the fourth quarter. The Miami Dolphins come roaring back to win 42 to 38. Wow. They're in Baltimore. It spoils Lamar Jackson's historic double triple, in which he had an ear perfect passer rating to go with his NFL record 11th, 100 yard rushing game by a quarterback. "His way to a club record. 16 strikeouts September 30th, 2009 at Turner field against the braves. Or Pepsi trivia question tonight That's a tough one. Dansby Swanson takes a strike. Only reason why is because there's been some prolific strikeout guys to put on Marlon jerseys. You think about you mentioned AJ Burnett, Josh Beckett, Josh Johnson, Kevin Brown. Carl pavano. Fernández. Jose Fernández never had more than 14 in a game. Nobody else has ever had more than 14 rookie had 16. There's a swing and a foul tipping of the catchers meant we had a couple of 14 K games, including one earlier this year against the braves by sandy Alcantara. Was outlier a punch out guy at that point of his not a huge strikeout guy, but he rang up some case. Mark Burley would sneaky rack up some keys every once in a while. To the Swanson is outside and of all. Brad penny, yep. Big old curve ball. If you think about the franchise and the history on the mound, they've got a very good history on the mound. But never assign award winner, maybe that ends this year. One two pitch missed away to Swanson. Who's your favorite former Marlins to watch pitch? Jose Fernández. Okay. That's an easy one. Yeah. "With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I am Tim Murray and you smell it. You smell it, it's getting closer. Getting a little closer, less than two weeks away from week zero of the college football season, less than three weeks away from a full big old slate of college football, week two of the preseason will get going later on this week, a full week in the books. Oh, baby. Previews everywhere, Sean. You feel it? Getting a little getting a little juiced up, you're calling some high school football this week. I am. I'm excited about that. I'll be on its shadow ridge as they take on. I think it's Durango. So kind of figure out the city a little bit, because I looked at the schedule. Driving around a little bit. On the whip. I see you doing your work or coming in, you got feel stills, college football guides sitting on the desk. Well, as I would like. I could have picked up a couple extras for me and Aaron, but that's okay. Oh, I'm still waiting for my two lane gear from maybe if you had brought back some gear from your Hall of Fame induction, maybe I would have been more willing to say, you know what? I should get two of these instead of just one. Yeah. It's fair. Just saying. That's fair. But it was a pleasant surprise. I know. I think I have, of course, I have the Visa and guide, which is a must obtain, but grab as many as possible. I got them all. I got Lindy's in there, Phil Steele. I'm trying to get as much homework done. See if there's a couple more wind totals, maybe to jump in on maybe a future long shot, you know, when a conference or something like that. And you got your feel still from Albertsons? Yeah, just the grocery store. All right, I gotta swing by there. Is I was just late night hours or. Sure, yeah. I'm sure we could find one. If you would like, since I'm such a good, good guy. I would be happy to pick you one up. That would be phenomenal. I didn't know you'd want one. Yeah, that would be tremendous. I appreciate that greatly. Happy to pick you one up. They're just $350. That's fun. But yeah, I'm fired up. We're getting closer. You know, look, the week zero slate is not the sexiest, but it's something that gives us a late night Hawaii game. We get to no one get a New Mexico state. Nevada state, which by the way, shouts to you that line continues to move Sean. Down to 9? This will be all the way down to New Mexico state will be the favorite. This will be the largest line move in history. What is thing open up at two touchdowns? There were some spots. So it's 5 points already in this movie. I'm telling you, it'll be a pick them by kick. I don't know if it'll go that far, but oh, it's going. It might be under a touchdown. We'll see, but that's the way it's moving. But yes, Sean is going to be invested? Maybe I'll jump on the fighting Jerry kills. But hurry up. Before they're the favorite. Oh man, so we had pre season action over the weekend, some interesting nuggets. I just, I need to, there are certain things that I just continue to forget to do, which is, which is a lot, but why I don't blindly just bet the Marlins every sandy. It's under. I told you. It's unbelievable. You didn't play it? I haven't mentioned it to you. Last week. Yeah. I did not. I don't know. I was busy today. There's things going on. You have to put an alert on your phone, so when sandy's pitching, it lets you know. And don't even look at it. Just blindly go bet the first 5 under. Well, it worked again today as sandy Alcantara through 7 scoreless gave up four hits, lowering his ERA to a microscopic 1.92, the over under on the first 5 over under was just three. It was a hell of a pitching matchup with Joe musgrove and sandy Alcantara. By the way, you could have gotten the Marlins at a nice plus one 25 a DraftKings plus one 30 here at circa and the Marlins get it done. By the way, the Padres, third time they've been shut out in the last 8 games. And bode well. That's what the way the mets front into that staff is looking at with the Dodger staff. You don't want to be a team that can't get the ball in play and get some hits against quality picture. And that's what departments look like right now. Unfortunately for the Padres, which the number is, I mean, I know they took two of three against the nationals and I'm sure a lot of padre fans are frustrated with the questionable call on a home plate overturn in on Saturday nights game in Washington, but those odds to me still are wild, how heavy it is for them to make the playoffs, Sean, considering they're only a game and a half clear of the brewers for that final wild card spot, but fortunately for them, brewers are losing to the Dodgers right now. They've got to think 7 of their next ten games are against the Dodgers, the brewers, so the brewers are going in the wrong direction. I took the daughters a night run line plus one O 5, I think. All right, Julio urias off to a good start. The only play I got here in the old keep me entertained for a little bit bet might be a loser before I know it. Got Luis Castillo against Shohei Ohtani. First 5 under was looking twisted. We're going to have three close three. What is it one one after one? Each team in a Homer in the first inning. Did you see the angels home run? Yeah. Rodriguez and the right Fielder ran into each other and the ball ricocheted over the fence. Little yellow line. Yeah. So a good start. So we need to shohei and Luis Castillo now just to wrap it, wrap it up and by the way, I know we mentioned it before, but producer Aaron oster has got a nice little 28 to one ticket on sandy Alcantara to win NL Cy Young. Can he win it? Absolutely, I believe he's the favorite right now. He's tremendous. So a win tonight for the Marlins and another incredible outing for him. We got to, we're gonna do a little something each day this week. So the AP poll came out today, Sean. And over the next two weeks, we're gonna pick a team each night and it doesn't matter where they're ranked. I want it to be the most, we're gonna basically do a countdown. Now I know the edge has been doing a big old countdown top 40 their top 40 teams throughout the past couple of weeks. For me, Sean, I wanna do the most interesting teams entering 2022. And today we're gonna take a look at Texas. Did not, we're not ranked in the AP poll, they were ranked. They are ranked in the coaches poll. Remember they have that rogue number one vote, which I am still convinced that was Nick Saban, who made that. So they've got that so we're going to talk about the Texas longhorns who had some unfortunate news over the weekend a couple of the best news they could have gotten. What, two of their starters were done. Oh, not that, not that. Not that part. I thought it was talking about the guy kicked off the team. Yeah, they lost a bunch. So we will get to Texas a little bit later. We'll talk some college football with Dan rubinstein. That'll be bottom of this hour. And then we'll do continue our summer condition. We got the Jags today. At the Jacksonville. A lot of people hire Trevor. Spent a lot of money this off season got rid of the biggest dope in all of football urban Meyer. Good God, man, don't talk about your so we will talk some Jaguars. What to expect from the folks in doom. Not quite how they do it, but we get it. How do you do it? No, no, no, no. In the bricks. Well, we got to find affiliate down there, ten ten XL. We do. Let me know how to do it. I don't know how to do it. I've been to Jacksonville if they start yelling Duval. Two or three. Wherever you're at, leave. Yeah, that's not like a thought they do that at Jags games. No, no, I've never heard them do it. That's not where I was introduced to that. And when they start doing that. It didn't Tony basile, just do it at the Hall of Fame induction. How about DR?

"It will be like when we talked about Bryce Harper and his Bryce Harper stole a superstar. No one talks about him anymore, and then he won an MVP and then we got that email about Mookie betts and wondering if he's still one of the main characters and then he proved it, yes, he is. Well, Alex Bregman, like it's been a while, you know, for him. He's been good. He's been fine. He's been above average. But looking back at like 2018, 2019, when he was an 8 win player in both of those seasons with one 60 ish WRC plus and since then, it's one 21, one 15, one 15, again, this year he was like, you know, he missed some time in the previous seasons, but he has not been a starter. He's been like, you know, good. He's been decent, he's great. All right, so I don't know what happened to him, whether it was the injuries that he has sustained or he talked with David about some mechanical issues that he was trying to straighten out with his wrist and other issues that are going on with his swing. So I don't know what it was, but just interesting, right? It's almost like it reminded me of when Evan Longoria, I remember writing something about him once how he just sort of like was a superstar and then suddenly he wasn't anymore and it wasn't like he was super old or was terrible or anything. You just kind of like went down a gear or two and that's kind of happened seemingly with Bregman two. So maybe some people would attribute that to sign stealing. I probably would not just because I don't think it made that much of a difference and also because he was still awesome in 2019 when, as far as we know, they were not doing the things that they had been doing, but for whatever reason, he's gone from MVP type player to, you know, pretty good, I guess, and he's only 28 still, and this has been over a few years. So seemed notable to me. So what you're saying is that what needs to happen is he has to be traded to the Giants. And then he will have a resurgence, but he's probably too young, maybe when he's like 33, 34. Right. When he's going to be the time. When he's his new old self. Yes, exactly. Right. However, sandy Alcantara has caught my eye many times because. He was so good. He is now a third in fangraphs war among pitchers first among national league pitchers and it's like every other day I see sandy Alcantara had an amazing outing Pablo Lopez had an amazing outfit and then I think like, those were wins. They must be good by now, right? No, not really. They're 25 and 30 and in fourth place where it seems like they kind of always are. So it's not enough. The young pitching has not been as great across the board as it seemed like it might be. And Trevor Rogers, who seemed like he might be among the best of those pitchers, he has struggled significantly, but Alcantara is unbelievable. Yes. He is spectacular and he's just so good. And I want there to be, we need recourse for a really good players on teams that are sort of underperforming. We need recourse, Ben. Is that just the All-Star Game? That's bad. Also, yeah, Tony council in has been amazing too. Yeah. I just like looking at leaderboards and be like, huh, look at that. Yeah, look at that. It's pretty impressive. Look at that guy. Look at that guy who didn't use to pitch very much, and now he's pitching Warren has been really good. Also, this should probably be our moment to just acknowledge that like, man, those Dodgers. A lot of their pitching not working still doesn't matter. Spectacular. Amazing thing. On historic run differential pieces. I don't know. Still are, but they were up until recently. Yeah. They're great. Yeah. And I just saw a tweet that the NL central collectively has lost 17 straight games. Central teams combined. Yeah, that does seem like stat blast material potentially. It does. Yeah, I know that you mentioned that the brewers have had a big dip in their playoff odds and gosh, like those cardinals only a half game back of them in the central. God, the Dodgers have a plus one 14 rent differential. What the hell? They're meant to the season. Yankees. Yankees are one O four just so that people don't think that work. I know there was some there was some conversation earlier in the discourse that maybe the Yankees not that good. I think those are pretty good. Yeah, pretty good. I only saw it fleetingly, you know, this is one of the things about traveling. You get to fleetingly engage with discourse and then be like, I'm done now. Yeah, seems like the braves are back too. If they've won a bunch of games in a row. Yeah, see, this is what happens when I am gone like teens change. And the fortunes they change. So 6 and a half back of the mets, but they're on a little throw on a little tear there. Those braves aren't they? Yes, they are. And our pal Williams asked the DO we acknowledged his return to the majors, but didn't take him long to have like one of those signature moments, which, you know, we noted that he had the low light in winter league where he punched someone from behind basically, and we were happy that he was going to come back to the majors and replace that in our memories with some actual exciting fun highlights. So he has done that. He has gone viral again, he had a game where he drove in a crucial run and then he also scored a winning run and you had your kind of classics as dio running around the bases and hats falling off and hair flying and all the rest of it. So that was a nice to see as well. So I will point everyone to a couple things. One is the league of their own trailer or teaser, really. There's only 30 seconds of footage and no dialog or anything. So it's hard to conclude much about it, but it's coming August 12th to Amazon Prime Video and I'm looking forward to it. It'll be nice to have a baseball show on again and hopefully this will do better than the first very short lived league of their own TV adaptation, but this one from one of the creators and stars of broad city and the showrunner of Mozart in the jungle and d'arcy carden is in it and Nick Offerman is in it as the manager and the characters from the movie will not be in it or at least will not be the lead characters here..

"All right, they're not going to let you get to the rim with ease. They're not going to let you have a lot of success there. Golden State is going to have to bomb the three. And they are the original gangsters of the three point shot having ushered in that era, what 7, 8 years ago. So I believe this is going to be a series that runs deep. I like Boston in 7 at 6 to one. It goes 7 games that gives us a better chance of knocking down 96 or more three pointers. I'm going to take a small shot on the yes. Record breaking three pointers made in the NBA Finals plus four 50. That wraps it up for everything in the NBA on the ice tonight the avalanche have a one O series lead over the Edmonton Oilers. This is game two tonight. There's a prop out there will Colorado score in all three periods, at least one going all three periods. The price is plus one 30. I'll take a shot on that. After what we saw in game one, there are some books that have the total for this game at 7 and a half, which according to many databases is the highest total we've ever seen for an NHL family cup playoff game. We're still working to see if that's the case, but a lot of database is only go back so far. We've never seen this for a game. Ton of goals scored in that first meeting between these two, maybe it comes down a little bit tonight, but whether it's Mike Smith or not in that Edmonton's got some problems going against this offense. I'm gonna have some fun Colorado to score in all three periods, at least one goal plus one 30. And then finally on the diamond, the Marlins and giants get together tonight. The Marlins first 5 innings run line, which means after 5 innings, they have to be up by one run or more for me to win this bet. It's even money. I'll take it. Sandy Alcantara is pitching for the Marlins. He has been incredible this season. Alex wood is going to go for the Giants. He was solid last year for San Francisco, but he's struggling this season with an ERA north of four, but just shy of 5. I'll take a shot there with the Marlins even money first 5 innings on the run line. And that ladies and gentlemen, is it for.
