"For my own staff members as well at this point. You're in the demographic graphic. And so you'll appreciate this as well Carrie. So you know how we make fun of you for never caring about the underdogs and stuff. I know about everyone and all this stuff. Well, Joseph Schroeder, who's a 21 year old on my staff, goes even deeper. So I care about the underdogs and NASCAR we get to our current stuff and I start zoning out at that point. So he's like doing all these things on arca team and stuff. I'm like, yeah, whatever. Okay, I don't know. Whatever. Right. So I feel like you on my staff. So it's pretty funny when it gets into those situations. I'm at next level, though. When Jimmy was around and NASCAR, that was basically Jimmy or not, that's it. Yeah. Everyone else. Who? Truex, huh? Is he still running for chance to? Right. Running up alongside a wall at the side of his car? Yeah. Man, you remember that? Well, look at you go. Yeah, of course. Of course. Man, I go way back. You used to be so sharp. I used to be. Now I just feel like I'm although the phoning it in. Since he, since he retired, I think you've actually developed more sharpness. You've re sharpened your tool chest. I had to branch out and know other things. Yeah. And you're like crap. I don't have that to fall back on anymore. Yeah, I like pulling stuff up out of the past and you're like, wow, you know that? Well, when you do it, I'm like holy crap. This is the guy here. Like, wow, he's got this. And then it goes back to, I don't know. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but yeah, sure. All right, we're like 5 minutes in and we haven't talked about anything. Let's talk about chili bowl nationals going down from Tulsa, Oklahoma wrapped up over the week last week, several NASCAR stars making headlines. The indoor dirt midget event, not little people, those are smaller cars, attracts over 300 racers from all over the spectrum of racing in the country and the world. And NASCAR's no exception, like Christopher Bell notching the poll, chase Elliott flying through the air with the greatest of ease and giving heart palpitations to Rick Hendrick. Yeah, that was wild like 15 feet in the air, he went. Man, I saw it. And so they're watching the camera angle they were showing live. They're showing the guy's bat for the transfer spot or whatever. And then all of a sudden you just catch out the corner eye. They go to another camera. There's a car flying. And I see a shock on me. Yeah, that's changed. Oh, no. I hope he's okay. Or will be okay. Yeah, it was just a very violent looking just because they just drastically changed the camera angle on you. And it was still spectacular to see it, but obviously it wasn't just violent or anything like that. It was fine. Man, that's one of those moments where you kind of breathe when you see him walk out of the car. And you're like, okay, good. Most popular driver in the sport will continue on. It's good. He's not a maimed, he can walk. This is good. Yeah. You think being an indoor event that would be less dangerous, but I guess it's big enough. Well, I mean, it is still less dangerous because we saw what, 60 5, 66 somewhere in their flips throughout the week. We had one injury of note, which was Santino Ferrucci, getting a concussion. So other than that, I don't think there's any injuries all week. That's a high ratio. 60 out of 300? Well, I mean, some of them flipped multiple times, I think. Okay, sure. The flip count was at like 65, 66 for the week. So yeah, it's pretty high ratio. So out of the 300, who took the checkered flag? Well, when you're done with the whole thing, Tanner thorson took the overall checkered flag for his first ever chili bowl nationals win. Bested Christopher Bell, this was an epic duel between these two guys all week long. So in their heat race, and they're qualifying race and they're amazed and stuff they were battling each other all week and it kept coming down to those two guys every time. And in the finale, it looked like it was going to be Christopher Bell. He had the fastest car all race long, and the Tanner thorson made an amazing move to get by him about mid race, and then they had several cautions over the tail end of the race here and thorson was able to hold on. Christopher Bell kind of got into the Christian late, which stalled out of his chance. But he still had a lot of defense second, but yeah, Tanner thorson got it done. Head to head, but Christopher Bell. Yeah, and that's so sad for Christopher Bell he's looking for fourth win in a row. Just totally. Not in a row. It would have been fourth. He had three in a row, then Larsen won the last two. That's right. But yeah, no bell was definitely looking for his fourth. He did match the record for most preliminary wins in history and the chili bowl with samus windell earlier in the weekend with his 8th and his career. So that was pretty impressive. He's even 30. A lot of years racing left for Christopher Bell to try to surpass that record. Right, it's a different demographic. I'm guessing. Yeah. Other notables include Alex Bowman, he failed to qualify for the a main event so sad for him. Yeah. But he had a pretty good performance. So a lot of the stuff he's been doing in dirt recently, you're like, okay, well, this poor guy. He's trying, but he's not, he's not elite on dirt just yet, but he put it up really solid effort all week long want to heat race and didn't do anything where you go, man, what was that? So he really had a pretty decent week overall and I think the thing we're forgetting is how hard it is to make it into the amine in this thing. We've got the week started with 395 entries. By the time we got to the qualifying races, we've done three 81 because people would crash out and couldn't get their cars back out there. But 381 cars gets whittled down to 24..

"That's good stuff. Joseph Bastianelli and willpower and Nikki Open. We are watching that battle between redness VK at Graham Ray Hall. It continues to be a hot one. Despite the fact with that pit window. Yeah, we are in that pit window. We started seeing guys start The pit. When cram is not letting up on Rina speak a. They make their crest down through turn number nine, and they're separated by a couple car lengths again. It's the battle for seventh. Looks like Rina, speaking, at least for now, Mark is going to hold onto that spot willpower. His teammates. Both Simon Pagenaud and Scott McLaughlin made recent visits to pit road. And that battle is going to break off. In fact, as we see readers, VK is headed to pit road and Alex Wolf, you are going to greet the 21. So next car off pit road red tires on the car right now, blacks going on No trouble right now. Fresh tear up looking for a front wing adjustment doesn't happen. 80.5 gallons of speedway feeling he's down away pretty clean. Stop it a little further up Pit road. We're starting to see even more activity. We're seeing more teams and more drivers laid out and believe James Hinchcliffe is Among those coming to pit road and saw the sign board out for Sebastian board. A So Davy It becomes a timing issue for these teams in terms of when to come in during this window, yes, and the windows so large, but they hope is that nobody is going to hold them up on pit lane and the meaning That is, if a yellow was to come out. These pits would get absolutely jam packed, and sometimes a lot of issues happened in the pits. Another thing you want to come in. If a car in front of you is holding you up just like Harvey situation with Connor Daly. Is and the windows open. You absolutely need to pick because you can make up so much time You got fresh tires on and by the time they pin that should spit. They should cycle in front of them. So pretty interesting right now. The pit windows open right now free and clear. Nobody getting jammed up on pit lane. Well in terms of Joseph New Gardening as 1.9 2nd lead over Colton Herta Davey. There's no question that you heard Joseph New Gardens say it after the session on Friday, he said. The time that thing rolled out onto pit road and he climbed in and fired it up. It's been a fast race card. Been bad fast, and he's loved it. Yeah. Sebastian Bourdais on Pit road, Joel. Sebastian board. Dave, pitting from 10 thought he had a poll run awarded. He's picked up two positions out and away on friends. Yeah, you know that round of 12. We had hoped to move on to the round of six. But he was called for a pit road speed violation, which means he had to serve a drive through and Of course earlier, Davy he was looking to pick up a couple of positions get into the top 10, and he had to serve a penalty. So it's been a challenging weekend. But with the relationship of some basketball day with race control, Yeah, well, that's not something abnormal, either. It seems like Sebastian. He's a He's a guy the stretches our right to the edge as far as what the rule would be and it actually possible, But we've seen him some of the drivers mad at him a qualifying when He just actually blew by the ball. There's kind of a driver agreement qualifying to kind of hold up behind each other until you get up to speed, But he didn't take that either went right for it. Jack Harvey, Jimmy Johnson that got interesting, Nick Yeoman as they headed towards turn number four. They head towards Thunder Valley. How did Jack Harvey doing to turn number four? Yeah, he made the pass on Jimmy Johnson. Jack Harvey is one of those drivers that has pitted already. Jimmie Johnson out there struggling Right now he has fallen back to the 21st position. Just moments ago, Scott McLaughlin got around excitement, passion. Oh, did as the Jack Harvey and I think the comments earlier this week from Jimmy Johnson indicates that Davey he's getting past the point where he's saying, I'm learning. I'm having fun. He's he wants to see results. But those results have been slow. They've been steady, but I think his lap times for sure have been improving in a pretty decent pace. Yeah, and we talked about that a little bit in practice sessions marked aware Some of these rookies coming in here, guys, but they came out of open wheel open cockpit type race cars they could catch on fairly easily. Jimmy's the seven time NASCAR champion. We know he's a fantastic race drivers done a lot in his career, but he needs to forget everything that he ever note knew about racing and to start over again here. That's hard for somebody to do because these cars are so different NASCAR their way faster than they break way better they handle way better. I mean, there's just so many different things. And just getting used to the speed alone's enough, But Jimmy has an uphill battle. But I either write his times are getting batteries get closer to the field still in the back, but still he's working hard and he's having fun. We see robot growth gene coming to pit road. He had worked his way into the ninth position. Meanwhile, as Sebastian board Day McLaughlin and Pageant. No, those are the guys that have already pitted. They stopped around lap 24. That's a battle a little bit deeper in the field that appears to be gaining some steam, trying to keep pace with them as the car of Santino Ferrucci. He, too, has already pitted. But Jake query, let's pick it up. It's the battle for 16, 4 Day. McLaughlin and Pacino. I'll tell you. What if you look at that group has, you know? Is it the rare of it and McLaughlin His really right in front of him going after board a the last few times by Michael I thought McLaughlin was going to get bored day last time by at the bottom of the keyhole, but board a gets breathing room to three birthdays. Got about five garlic advantages further up his VK gets around Ryan Hunter Ray. So it's board a McLaughlin Simon Pagenaud, Then the machine of Santino Ferrucci, the big loser. We talked about it briefly. Was Jack Harvey got so held up by Jimmy Johnson. The three of them talking about pagina. McLaughlin and Harvey were nose to tail that whole lap that it took Harvey to get around. Jimmy Johnson really cost him a lot of positions and a lot of time on the track. All these drivers on fresh tires trying to make up ground while everyone struggles here.

"Ericsson. Now all of a sudden has all kinds of company from his teammate, Scott Dixon, who tried to take a look to the inside. Eriksson at the bottom of the keyhole managed to shut that door new Garden to Carly advantage over Colton Herta Plenty of fireworks on this fourth of July. Let's see if the third time is the charm through turn number four Joseph New Car to three colleagues have been And his further back to the fifth position. Alex Polo looks to the inside. Now outside of Alexander Rossi, below will be able to hold him office. Pelo continues that charge Rossi, just in front of of the pillow machine. Now looks like read. Svk is kind of tucked inside. He'll go off course they'll make their way through Turn number seven kicked up a ton of dirt, trying to get around Alex below. To grab that sixth position. He lost all momentum, but it is Alex below Mark our pole sitter trying to run down Alexander Rossi and get inside the top five. Alex below getting Hopefully aggressive and readers VK and Graham Ray Hall without their right there. But when, as Michael described readers, VK went off course that required Graham Ray Hall to roll it up. Roll it up a little bit. It's Sebastian board is giving chase in that battle as well. That's the battle for the seventh position. Meanwhile, back up front, Joseph New Garden by 8/10 of a second over Colton Herta, New garden on the red tires. So, too, is Colton Herta, Marcus Ericsson. Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, the highest on the primary black tires. He has Alex Polo just behind him. The leader, Joseph New Garden. Already leaving the keyhole. Roman Grosjean got loose at the bottom of the keyhole that allowed Scott McLaughlin by Simon Pageant. Now we'll try to do the same Joseph New guard about a five car length advantage over Colton Herta than Erickson, Dixon Rossi able to gap himself from below. Then Revis VK lots of battling further back Takuma Sato. On the charge. He will get around San Tino Ferrucci now Ferrucci trying to look his way back to the inside. But Takuma Sato will be able to gap in by about a half A car like they're already through Thunder Valley in front four have gotten away its new garden her to Erickson Dixon. And then it's Rossi trying to hold off Alex Pelo just outside the top five little bit further back that battle for the at the time. The ninth position. Roman Grosjean, Jake described the end of that battle. He tried to make a move on Sebastian board, a But board a was having none of it. But by the time that Grosjean got back into the throttle, he lost a couple of positions that is in danger. Now of being under result from the Car Park Award award, looking to move up the best battle of the racetrack, Alexander Rossi, he's trying to hold off Alex below the keyhole. As a matter of fact, as they work their way at the bottom of the keyhole, Rossi and almost as like, he's holding people up. That's not the case. Just Dixon's getting away from him. But below is right there looking in on Rossi, This is the battle for the fifth position. Alexander Rossi has it. Alex Polo wants it. Meanwhile, Rina speak a was to take that six position away from Alex Pelo Pelo will get a little bit of an arrow wash. That will allow me to speak a too close in, so we'll have Alexander Rossi in that fifth position that a great battle at six with Pillow and BK. And you can add Graham Ray Hall to the mix. Make that a four car battle for the fifth position. Alexander Rossi with a little bit of breathing room, and it's below VK and Ray Hall through Thunder Valley early on to the race, Davey Hamilton Reedus VK, showing no ill effects from that injury to Hispanic All know he knew he had a better car than that level qualifying position. He's working his ways in seven now all over Pelo and I have to say garage and he we may want to introduce him to dirt race That was pretty good slide down there through the keyhole that turned to kept a sideways getting on track. Awesome space. We've been a good job recovery Greatest VK Crab Ray Hall. That's the best battle for now. That's the battle for seven to the Keyhole and Graham Ray Hall finds himself just behind VK and again in front of board Day. As a matter of fact, board a one little bit wide at the bottom of the keyhole that allowed Ray Hall to again distance. But Rachel is trying to find arenas VK so 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. That's the best battle on the track. Rossi about six car lengths ahead of Alex below. Rina, Speak a now closing in on that rear window. Pelo again. Graham Ray Hall will fall back ever so slightly further back in the field. Ferrucci gets back around Takuma Sato also have a battle. Jack Harvey, Jack. Harvey gets all kinds of sideways as he tries to battle Dalton. Tell it now, Jack Harvey regains control of that machine, but a lot of value because it got kicked up dust through tricks and now seven. Yep, You mentioned Jack Harvey going off race track a little bit. The back of the field. They are stacking up Mark Jaynes. Everybody battling for position and race control took a look a couple of times that that issue going up into the keyhole between Roman Grosjean and Sebastian board A. They didn't like Davy the way that they defended that position. He's been ordered to give up two spots for blocking. Wow. Interesting. I noticed grow. John went by him now. That means McLaughlin needs to get by him as well. But one thing Yes, we care for McLaughlin has been threatened by part to award matter of fact being passed by Pato Award right now. Oh, they touched wheels just slightly down there and turn to write up in the keyhole. That was a pretty good battle for sure. Let's give you a full field rundown with 12 laps complete. It's Joseph, New Gardener leader. Colton Herta is second Marcus Ericsson, his third Scott Dixon, his fourth. Rossi, his fifth below is sick. The K is seventh Ray Hall is eight. Roman Grosjean is night. Sebastian board A is 10 Pato Award 11 Scott the clock with his 12th 13th sided Pacino 14th Santino Ferrucci 15 To Cuba. Sato 60 Dalton College 17th daily 18th Harvey 19th Hinchcliffe 20th Jilting 21st is Norman 22nd. Is Jimmy Johnson down? The third is Felix Rosenquist. 24th two laps out. Is Ryan Hunter Ray out of the race in 25th. This Ed Jones and willpower will finish 26 today. Davey with all of those cautions, Do we think maybe that the pit strategy might have been altered a little bit? I mean, we had six laps of cautions through the first seven laps of the race. Yes. So you know, pit strategy is really it was too early, but we did see a few guys. Norman came in and did a pit. Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Shilton and Hinchcliffe All came in ahead of probably more for issues on his race car, But but, yeah, we just see a handful of guys a little too early to really take advantage of a strategy back deep in the field. We're watching the battle for 70 Jack Harvey slowly but surely trying to work his way to the front, if possible, get himself in a position to use that pit strategy. Michael Young, Pretty good drag race between Jack Harvey encounter daily into turn four. Yeah, Jack Harvey is on the outside. Now we'll try the over under on Qatar Daily Daily will hold that inside line boy. He popped in the middle of the track and had to defend against Jack Army. Trying to take that position nearly read Harvey off the track daily.

Roman Grosjean, plus seven award plus seven Santino Ferrucci, plus seven. Jack Harvey. Plus six counter daily, plus six. So, Dany I know attrition has aided their cause. But certainly sub drivers we expected to move up early have done so, Yeah, you know, we expected the first two guys, right? Obviously. New garden and herded to stay where they are The pot awards. Starting that 20 position he went around. He had the lucky line. If those the drivers in front of didn't have those issues, it probably would have put him back instead of forward, But when they did, he went around. All of them goes from 20th. 13th. Absolutely great, Simon passionate. Another one jumping up, finds himself in that drug position already, Sado has a nice little jump up. Grosjean's So, yeah, those bad luck for some made good luck for others. Impressive reflexes by the drivers of the back half of the field. Davey willpower was smack dab in the middle of the racetrack, shrouded in smoke couldn't even see the race car And the driver is just simply went where they saw clearing to the high side of the low side of willpower. Yeah, so hard. Sometimes, they say, aim for the smoke, and then by the time we get there, it's gone, but that's usually on high speed ovals. Little bit different here at mid Ohio. Yeah, it's a good thing. They didn't head for the smoke because Ed Jones could tell you the smoke is right where the incident was as the green flag flies as Joseph New Garden. "At all. But thanks for the time. Yeah, It was a good weekend until this and I think, Wait. Have a pretty strong running man of the year here. Let's look forward. Vitiated Felix Rosenquist. My apology shake and feelings have currently top 10 and trying to close in on Ryan Hunter, Rey and others running just in front of them currently listed 23rd in this race golden earning his bump that lead up dating that leads by 1.2 seconds and isolate gone car, Obviously family very well, Dr Good. Right now, earning the race. Take it easy. They are on their way. Red compound tires are probably getting first pit stop going. Those blacks, I would I would gas and just see how the car handles lecturing people. They're like a strategy will not play into this unless there's another yellow. So to see what happens and willpower to even have a fast racecar, Nick something safe set upon it that they had on yesterday. And that Brandon Attrition has painted his cause a bit, but he's looking pretty good after starting 17 because his issues qualified. Yeah, and I'm not entirely sure how many of those spots you might have picked up on that opening lap by accident just by weaving his way through, But clearly we know he's fast. Looks like we've got a taker already on pit lane is, Don't tell it his sweat off the racetrack. Let's goto pitlane, though, and check in with Rob Dean Santini Ferrucci coming in full of blacks off another sticker, said attire blacks on no changes whatsoever. The car of the 18. But he came in the pit lane. Maybe he realised that yellow is coming up. So don't Kellen has but off course, Davie and that we've not heard anything about yellowing yet because he is well on the racing service. Well off the surface of the yellow is to come out at last 14. I would have to think most these guys we're gonna take a change of opinion under yellow. What's that? Rucci that would put him back in front of field Now that is, if you know they're all coming in. Yeah. What's gonna happen is yeah. They're leaving the pit open intentionally. So these guys come in a pit heard warning through before J query. Leader Colton Herta, his pitted those Firestone softer compound tires go off sticker blacks Go on, boy. He's fund the back. But hold her is down in away. Meanwhile, just behind the ballot generosity takes four sticker red tyres. He had a vibration in his car. They want to see if it might have been a tyrant. You Rossi out the way as well. Yeah. Reds to ranch for both right, Roscoe to top five runners coming in a 7.1 2nd stop for hunter, right? No change a little, but he goes back to those of the rents out first time in awhile. We've seen things get that crazy up there Road. Yeah, And this is the type of situation that we heard Willpower complain about earlier this season where a competitive ballots standpoint, it makes sense. Don't kill it spins off into turn number one. He's out of harm's way. They open up the pits. And now obviously will throw the full course yellow would allow everyone to kind of keep their positions. But, yeah, it was a busy, hectic pit late for sure. We'll update you on the pit strategy of where everyone cycles through will come back to bed. I should say top 15, for that matter to start on the black primary tires trying to go a little bit of different strategy is the PPG team of Josef Newgarden. As for willpower, he had an incident. Of course in qualifying. He simply spun very early in his session, and as a result, the guy that started yesterday on Paul will start 17th one other note. I heard I had a problem getting his car started, but his team brought out the starter. They got fired up. And so the pole sitter is out on this beautiful day. I'm sure the last two stance on the red, so it's gonna be interesting to see if strategy place apart. Some drivers who heard them openly question the decision. Reds or blacks to start the race today believe Scott Dixon was one of his one of a back where he waas so deep in the back of the Reds kind of wasted because it just Don't go anywhere that point. We start with the blacks. You got remember Scott Dicks so used to starting up front. That's a strategy that youjust let's go win to start up front. Here's what we do. They didn't change anything. But starting that far back, definitely difference. Entertaining race to kill bin with close quarters Racing yesterday probably would like to see a bit more overtaking, but be that as it may In willpower. Starting 17th has a car that's anywhere close to the car he had yesterday. He's going to be worth the price of admission today. As much fun as we're gonna have watching some of the guys up front. Of course, Mark James in the call on the Pennzoil Indy car Radio Network. Correct Rakestraw J Query back with you for a final time from what has been our broadcast location for the last two weeks. For someone of the updates and weekend qualifying shows that we have had the Pleasure of doing. This is normally where we grab a bite to eat lunch, time or evening time during the course of the month of May or whatever the Brickyard 400 might be, but has become our radio booth that on the third floor, so we have been kind of isolated from everybody else. I can tell you when I walked up during the race normally on a given 500. Maybe there's 125 150. Or so media members up on the fourth floor I counted the number was about 20 when I was up there earlier. There's course television folks that were scattered throughout the course of the facility. It is also somewhat odd to be here at 10 till nine And see the place be this dark. Some of us are used to being here early in the morning before P a duties last year to roll in about 5 45 last year, Justus Jake is usually going to bed on. So this is normally Last time I was here with him. Is this dark either Casey Cane was winning the Brickyard 400 always driving the family through the Christmas lights. One of the two the last time that I was here when it was this dark at the facility as we wrap up our broadcast day in about five or six minutes from now, let me get these. Thank you's out of the way. Failing. Watson has been our engineer on duty throughout the course of the day. Thank you to him. Brains of the operation is Scott Johnston. None of this works without him being on site and thank you, too. Jason Newhouse Back in the 93 W ABC studios. Hey, is stuck with me on Colts post game shows, and now I get stuck with me for all Maury's evening before the cold season kicks off coming up on September, the 13th Jake and I went over the kind of the upcoming schedule. For the IndyCar season. With a couple of days still TBD again. The Indy cars will go just down the road to Gateway for Saturday and Sunday afternoon races next weekend. Thie points have been updated after today's results. Scott Dixon, it won't offer much solace for not winning the 500, but he did further his points leading the championship. With anywhere from 5 to 7 races left to go. He is now 84 points clear of his closest competitors in Josef Newgarden Pato Award. Graham Ray Hall. Simon Pass, You know the top five. Takuma Sato is six. And that's without even starting the first raised down in Texas because of a practice slash qualifying crashed. Cuma had, but he is now 16 points. That's what happens when you get over 100 points in one race for winning the Indianapolis 500. There was one other guy I want to mention that we've talked about in the broadcast, given the solid race that he had. That would be Santini Ferrucci in his second Indianapolis 500. He finished fourth. It is his fourth top 10 in seven races this year. Thoughts about the effort that Santino turned into what you mentioned that our buddy Chris Hagen just called me and said, Man, how come nobody's talking about how off the radar for Rue Cheese to Indy 500 days ago? Chris a man, that guy He is fearless. He'll put the car wherever it needs to go. He is not afraid to try different lines, and he's pretty darn talented. I mean, he's really, really talented. It's funny. There's some drivers that are just fast. And fearless right out of the box. Schecter comes to mind. You know, Ari Lion Dyke was like that right like that at this place, And then there are other guys that are just really smart and methodical. And eventually you realize their time is going to come. Josef Newgarden comes to mind their new garden once he got up into the top five. I'll be honest, Greg. I thought, OK, here it goes like new Garden's been waiting in the wings and here here is going to make his move. But kudos. Kudos to Takuma Sato man. What? Once once he got the lead, I really wondered if he and Dixon weren't doing the same. Fuel saving swapping of the lead that Dixon and Rossi had earlier done and Then it dawned on. You know, I started watching and I'm like, Whoa! No, like he's he's got the pull away speed here and kudos to Sado. I mean, he Once he got the lead, he did not let go. And you're and you're talking about a guy and Scott Dixon who had been the cream of the day and you ran away from him, You know, even sorry, Greg, even if the If they had restarted. You know, Dixon might have sodomite have been in trouble there in terms of being a sitting duck gonna restart but he was awfully strong. Takuma Shadow led 27 laps today. He led from lap 1 57 tow lap 1 68. He led from lap 1 85 to the finish. He did the most to improve his starting position. Last Sunday. In the fast night, he went from night to the outside of row Number one, and he then Ah Ah increased his a spot in the history books around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, becoming the 20th multiple time winner of an Indianapolis 500. By becoming the 10th different. Two time winner of the 500 Mile race from about a minute and a half. Jake your final thoughts on the month of May in August. Yeah, it's weird, because last night and today I'll be honest. Kind of felt like Mae. You know, I went out. In downtown Speedway or downtown Main Street Speedway walked around and the temperature I mean it all kind of felt like May And then coming in today and going through the pre race festivities..

"It's time for the end Ready. Cruz and the dynastic agrees to go to work by Alexander Rossi. Mapple care crew automation is running to go there. Awaiting Ross comes. They're gonna go to sticker Firestone tires Get 4.65. Seconds off comes off. Scott Dixon. That was 7.6 2nd stop for the road, My Marine. They're lightning fast pitch stuff from the arrow. McLaren s P coo. They were able to get possible award out with four first tires quickly. Santini Ferrucci getting chased down pit lane before we got around black. Let's check it quickly. Rob Bowden. Fantastic stop from Tacoma, Santa Cruz. Well, mark, they were able to get out when they did. They were side by side with Rosi when he came out of it late. Great. Stop the guys from Rachel. Let Atlantic now to rob black, but basically everyone on the north end pitted and one man that is still sitting at the pit boxes. Fernando Alonso. He was not able to exit pit lane. I will head down there momentarily to take a quick look at what's going on. I can tell you This. There was none better on the north end. When it come to a pit. Stop this last up then Simon pass, you know, down in a way in 6.4, but the defending Indy 500 champion. This round of pit stops is brought to you by speedway official fuel and convenience door of the Indianapolis 500. So what, Davy? Really good pitstop. For most of those teams in one of those guys have Felix Rosenquist trying to get the strategy to work in his favour. Yeah, yeah, He's going to stay out there right now. We'll see what happens more likely going to come in things. Changed up just a little bit, but I have to say on a Rossi, stop right there. When he came out, he ran right in the side of Sato's car doesn't look like they did damage to each other's car, but they definitely had contact. Meanwhile, Pato award slides in front Of Rossi behind our leader, Scott Dixon. It's interesting to note how love that Sometimes the race strategy in shape out of it. We thought it was a bit of a gamble way back on lap number rate when we had a cost in some of those guys in the rear of the field decided to pit And go off sequence. It looked like a six top tragedy for them and Lo and behold, the cautions gotta fall of their favour and now they're right back on the same strategy they want out. I think they gave up on it. Actually, it's like a man. We better We went a lap down, We better We better get ourselves back on the same strategy. Although it's still a six top before them. They were able to do that one on yellow puts in the back of the pack right now, the one that surprised me is Rosa Quest, He finds himself a leading this race right now. But he needs a pit stop. It's 36 laps since he last pitted, so I expect to see him to come in now, but I'm not sure why he's doing so late. Well, this is the 40th anniversary, perhaps the most memorable of low star Jr. Johny Rutherford's win, He gave someone a memorable ride back to pit road Mohr on that now from the historian of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Donald Davidson This past May mark the 40th anniversary of Johnny rather than winning his third Indianapolis 500 driving Jim Hall shop Paro, the iconic grand effects car nicknamed the Yellow Submarine. There was a really special moment right after rather, but had taken the check and then was rolling around through Turn four on his cool off lap. He came upon 10 Richmond soon to be named Rookie of the year out of his car and standing up next to it as he'd run out of fuel well, the two had become good friends during the month, and Rutherford pulled up in the out for him to climb on board, which he did. The charismatic Richmond lying down on the right side part on holding onto the roll bar as they rolled down the pit lane, with the crowd roaring its approval when Rutherford slowed for the left hand turn into victory Circle. Richmond jumped off and disappeared into the crowd, whereupon the chap Forell was pushed up the ramp at the foot of the old Master Control tower, and Rutherford began celebrating his third victory in the Indianapolis 500. Thank you, Donald. Today first been interesting afternoon so far for 1 G. Ray Hall, who started a fella's Faras 16, but looks like the car is coming back to him. Easily is dead. Bobby Ray, listen, some sweet having caviar should shrimp or whatever. He's down here with the rest of us trying to get this race completed. Looks like grams cars come back. To him a little bit today, Bob. Yeah, it's ah, you know? Made a change after the first stop, which really helped and we've had a really good pit stops. These guys have done a great job so far in the pits. That's helped us out a bunch because it's hard to pass on DH. We've been able to pick up quite a few positions by good pit stops. And the car is good. Now you're up with the fast guys. And you know that's a good spot to be at this point in the race, Even you go back to Carb Day as hard as this crew worked on trying to get a racecar radium, and there were several scenarios of this group played through it in a weird way that What happened Friday. Help you guys a little bit today. Well, I mean, you know, I think I think we We find a good feel for the car towards the end of that carved a practice. And the first run today, the loose, But I made some adjustments and the car's gone pretty good. He's pretty happy with it. You know, I think everybody's kind of saving fuel cruising around. Um, but we'll see. You know, it's gonna shoot out last thing As a former champion. You come back to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway under this circumstance with a pandemic..
