"That explosion through the middle. I was like, wow, that was very impressive and that was something that I have to admit. I personally didn't see much of last year, but it's really cool to see him kind of doing that all over again and actually kind of striking the fear of being embarrassed in that fashion the way he used to, right? Like when people talk about that sort of that swagger or whatever you want to identify it as I think it is there because when I think of Eric Carlson and Ottawa during his prime, he played with that with that confidence, right? Where he wanted to try and embarrass you and put you on an end, one highlight reel, right? And past couple of years in San Jose, he's been successful and effective, but I think it's been much more through craftiness and guile and picking his spots as opposed to just what he's doing now. And so for me, it regardless of the results, it just kind of cool to see that that process back there for him again. Yeah, actually the last game the sharks played against Vancouver. I think actually an angel, Twitter, they highlight it, even though it even leads to any of the shots. I think it was Sheldon Sheldon dries that what was made to look to fool. The children dries to try to attack Carlson at the point and Carlson just basically Harlem globetrotters is way through them and created basically off of that. We talk about I wrote an article a few a few games ago, but just Carlson and analytics and how Carlson kind of got me into watching a game more carefully. And you talk about why his Carlson, so he shot at him, says his analytics, why are they always so strong, right? You look at a play like that, what he did to dry is there. He basically created space that led to four, I think, four shots by the sharks there.

"From him, given his time on the sidelines for reasons that we've discussed, and I feel like that's actually quite a big week for him. I think it's big for him, as you said, to come back from not playing for a while. And also to win a final again. He didn't want a final since the U.S. open. Last year, he lost 5 in a row. And put in a couple of quite dodgy performances. I'm thinking mainly of the one against zverev in the ATP finals and the one against our man Tim van right over a few weeks ago, but he looked good in this one, and nori, I think, broke back, didn't he? Right at the end of that first set when Medvedev had set points and nori broke back and right there I was thinking, oh, here we go again, maybe for Medvedev. And then he didn't lose another game in the entire match. He just stretched his advantage and was brilliant. Some of his back cam winners, some of his defensive points to, I think, especially to get the double break in the second set. He looked really good and yeah, this is traditionally his time of year. It's the surface and the sort of environment that he seems to really like playing in and yeah, if he's well rested compared to some of the others, it could end up being beneficial for him, I suppose. You know, such a long season, we sell off and talk about players needing brakes, and obviously this one is not just a break that he's chosen to take. It was kind of enforced upon him, and he wouldn't have wanted it. It was probably a lot to deal with, I suppose. In terms of justifying whether it was fair and all that kind of thing, I'm sure he was wrestling with big questions like that. But just the actual practicality of it might end up sort of favoring him in this time of the year. Who knows? The Anti-Trump Supporters Incited Violence Against Trump Supporters
"They've got people assigned to listen to this radio program. They've got people assigned to actually monitor what I say on some of these TV appearances that we do on newsmax and real American news and many others. And they're flat out lying about what I said. So I want to go back and I want to play for you. Again, I was reminding people that it was the anti Trump crowd that actually facilitated an incited violence against Trump supporters back in 2016. Keep in mind the number of forget. Going back to 2016, Trump supporters were brutally beaten and attacked and left bloodied in the streets of city after city after city. The left they don't want they don't want you to remember that, but we do. We have a mind like an iron trap here at the Dodge turns radio show. As a matter of fact, one of the attacks in San Jose. I mean, people were getting pelted with rocks and bottles and eggs so there were fist fights and it was so bad even Hillary Clinton came out and condemned the violence against the Trump supporters. There was a situation in Chicago where a guy was beaten in the streets because he was wearing a maga hat. There was an incident in I believe Maryland, Montgomery, high school, where a teenage boy, a 15 year old boy was wearing one of the red maga hats, and this kid was attacked by four other students. They punched him, threw him to the ground and just started kicking the child.
Pastor Che Ahn Stood Up Boldly When California Shut Down Churches
"Hey there folks, I'm excited when I get to talk to somebody that is not just a friend, but somebody I think who has been a hero. My guest right now is past your che on of Southern California. He has written a book called turning our nation back to God through historic revival. I happen to know it's a good book because I read it and I wrote the forward to it. Past your che, welcome to the program. Thanks, Eric is an honor to be with you and love you and love your program. Well, I love you because I respect you. You stood up in California. I want to tell my audience about that before we get to the book. The book is turning our nation back to got through historical revival, but you stood up boldly when the governor in California was trying to shut down churches. And I know we've talked a little bit about this on the program before, but for people just tuning in, they don't know you. They don't know that there are many really heroic pastures in California that stuck the next south. They said, we're going to fight. Mike McClure is one of them. I was just at his church in San Jose, rob McCoy, Jack hibbs, but you are the one that I have known the longest. Tell us what happened to you because you do talk about it in the book. Well, originally, when president Trump said 30 days of mitigation, we didn't know what this coronavirus was about. So we locked down for 30 days. But then we begin to notice that other places work declared essential. And so things were opening up right after that at 30 day period. But not the church. So marijuana dispensaries were declared essential, abortion clinics were declared essential. Of course, Walmart and Costco and the grocery stores were declared essential. And later on, strip clubs were declared essential casinos were considered essential, but their church was locked down. You notice this. Most people notice that this was crazy. The point is, you are the pastor of a big church, and you said, this is wrong. And we're going to do something about

Sean Feucht and Eric Discuss the Dangers of Being 'Neutral'
"This weekend, I'm going to be in your state speaking in Mike McClure's church in San Jose. He has been a hero with a handful of California pastors and I want to be around those people. I don't want to be around somebody who is concerned with it. I want to be cool and relevant and I think you're right that we've run out of there's no neutral at this point. If people are putting things out as satanic as what Disney is putting out as satanic as what the California legislature is putting out, I don't understand how anybody thinks it's okay to say, well, I'm not going to I'm not going to take a position on that. Okay, how about burning Jews? How about the Holocaust? Are you willing to take a position on that? What are you willing to take a position on? Do you have any values? Anything? Yeah. And the hard part, like my heart behind the letter Eric is that the boldest, most courageous fighters that we see right now are politicians. And it's never good when the church follows politicians. This is the problem. Like desantis shouldn't be the one raging the hardest against Disney. It should be spiritual leaders. It should be fathers and mothers across America that have platforms that rise up. Like, but we're abdicating our authority as the church to politicians and it never works out good. So that's why I'm saying this is the hour for leaders across the body of Christ to rise up.
Who Is 'The Devil's Delusion' Author David Berlinski?
"Are a mathematician. I've written a lot about mathematics. Not many people can say that, David berlinski. So I want to help my audience who isn't familiar with you because I don't want to just read your biography. How do you describe yourself? I mean, you've written many extraordinary books, the most recent for me that I've read is the devil's delusion, a spectacular takedown of the so called new atheists. I borrowed from it for my new book is atheism dead, but you've written many books. How do you, how do you describe yourself if somebody were to ask you what you did? I think honestly, I spent a whole lot of time in the academic world. And I wound up teaching mathematics up and down Silicon Valley in various community colleges, various college San Jose state university, for example. But around 1992, I said, I'm going to live strictly with my pen, just as a writer. And so I would describe myself now exactly those terms. I'm a writer. I happen to have written a lot about mathematics. Right. That's true. Well, actually, in the bio that I have on you, it does claim that your mathematician. So I'm going to go with that. We're going to kick your dividends to the curb and we're going to say that man is a mathematician. He's a philosopher. He's a polymath. Senior fellow with the discovery institute. I am a gigantic fan of the discovery institute and grateful that they have you aboard there. I often hear about you through Stephen Meyer, whom I just saw very recently. And I think he's the one that said to me that David berlinski is coming from his home in Paris to America and maybe he'll be in the same time zone and you can have a conversation. So it's to Steve and the discovery institute that I owe this time.
Why We Need to Fund, and Not Defund the Police
"Katie king and the San Jose spotlight June 26th, 2020, congressman Khanna, explaining that police officers are a necessary part of society, Khan has said defunding the police didn't mean disbanding law enforcement altogether. But the representatives said it was time to examine whether funding is being appropriately distributed among police and other social services like education and affordable housing. Okay, that's two years ago, right after George Floyd, two years later, we have rising crime terrible, terrible crime in the inner city. Don't we need more funding for the police police as opposed to redistributing their funding? Yes, we do. At a meeting with the police chiefs in my district in San Jose and Sunnyvale and Fremont, about a year ago, we've got I'm sure you've read some of these terrible smash and break in crime smash and grab prime. And they said, we need more police. And I agree with that. And I think we need to uphold the rule of law. Not for ruining a young person's life if they break into a Walgreens, but I'm also not for you can do that and not have accountability and do that three, four times. And not face prosecution.
Dinesh Reflects on the Teachings of Thomas Sowell
"I talked a day or two ago about Thomas soul and it's for me it sort of refreshing to do this in contrast with critical race theory. And of course, there's a new book out on Seoul. It's called maverick a biography of Thomas sol, it's written by The Wall Street Journal writer, a Jason Riley, and I've kind of been making my way through the book. But as I do, it also flashes my mind back to my friendship with Seoul over the years. And the way that he has been a mentor to me. Years ago, when I published my book at the end of racism, this, by the way, is my most scholarly book. If you haven't read it, it's. A giant book, several hundred pages, 2000 footnotes. And the book was a little controversial because it talked about the reason why you have group differences in academic achievement and economic performance. It attributed those differences not to race, not to biology, but the culture. Even so, Glenn Lowry, prominent black scholar who was at that time affiliated with the American enterprise institute, another guy named bob Woodson resigned from AEI, they sort of, they broke with AEI and it was a supposedly all over my horrible book, and at that time I was, you know, this was only my second book. I was a young scholar, so it was kind of a problematic for me to have these luminaries distancing themselves from AEI was causing problems for AEI, but to my defense rushed the greatest black living scholar in the country, Thomas soul, who basically said that he had read the book extremely carefully, and it was the best book on race relations written since Gunnar modals classic work in American dilemma, published several decades earlier. Over the years, I got to know soul and his wife quite well, his wife is also an economist. And I thought interesting as I would talk to them about racial discrimination and they would go, you know, dinesh when people think of race discrimination cases. They think of the sort of classic civil rights situation going back to the 50s and 60s a black guy and a white guy apply for a job, the black guy is better qualified the white guy gets the job. Hey, that's racial discrimination. And they go out of a hundred cases dinesh today, only one or two I like that. The vast majority of cases have nothing to do with that at all. They are all based upon statistical issues of underrepresentation. So a black eye applies to our job. He's actually not qualified. He doesn't get the job. But then he sues and he claims that blacks are underrepresented this corporation and because blacks are, let's say, 12% of the surrounding population in San Jose, but he wasn't hired at this Silicon Valley company. They're obviously racist. They need to implement affirmative action policies, so both soul and his wife said that is actually the normative. That's the normal case that is now fought out in

It's titled chinatown celebrates new year. The article mentions you know how elaborate the festival was and how beautifully streets were mentioned that my grandfather was one of the men that were decorating the street so it showed something that chinatown was established and people realize that it was going to be part of san jose and it was for forty four years. Highland ville was san jose's longest established chinatown until nineteen thirty one the chinese exclusion act had been in place for almost fifty years. And because people couldn't come into the country easily immigration dwindled. Soon there weren't enough left in chinatown to keep it alive and the great depression took a real toll on the heinlein estate which owned the land. Where the chinatown stood in nineteen thirty-one. It went bankrupt and eventually island volt became city property and was demolished. When i first started working on the story. I wanted to understand where heinlein ville was located and it turns out. It's not too far. From where i live in san jose but walking around i wasn't able to find anything that marked this rich history. But that's gonna change soon. Connie young yu has been working with the city to build a park. Where the last. Chinatown once stood. She says it will. Commemorate highlands contributions to san jose and highlight the history of chinatown and the deep roots of the chinese community. Here to be called heinlein ville park. That was katie. Silicon valley reporter oddity moody astute listeners. Keeping track of all those chinatowns may have noticed that aditya only talked about four of them even though there have been five chinatowns throughout san jose's history. "Valley reporter oddity bundler moody to unravel the mystery of san. Jose's lost chinatowns to answer this question. I had to. I understand why san jose had so many chinatowns to begin with. We have to go back to the mid eighteen. Hundreds around the time of the gold rush. Thousands of immigrants came from all over the world looking for gold including many from china so many of those chinese immigrants that came were working class. That's james lie. A professor of ethnic studies at santa clara university and they came for the same reason why they still come to this day. economic opportunity. james says a lot of them found work in mines or on the transcontinental railroad and those were often short term contracts that they were being paid to come room and board transportation would be provided windows. Contracts were up. Many of those men were on their own to find more work. Some of them went to san francisco. Open laundromats and other businesses. Some built levees throughout the sacramento delta and some began working in agriculture. Picking the orchards. In the santa clara valley. The ratio was roughly twenty six to one chinese american men. Two women at this point in time and there were sending money backs to help family back home but they weren't wealthy. They never achieved the wealth that they hoped they would. She been to be able to return back to their villages and retire or help their families so they stayed in the endured racist policies kept them from owning property and white people didn't want them in their neighborhoods so in the eighteen sixties in san jose they built the first market street. Chinatown that first. Chinatown lasted until eighteen. Seventy and then the vine street chinatown was built and thrived from eighteen. Seventy to eighteen seventy two. Both of these chinatowns were burned down from the moment. Chinese immigrants started coming to america. They faced racism and violence but the chinese immigrants kept rebuilding. There really wasn't a choice. It was just simply to continue to try to plant your roots. And the only way you could do it was through these kinds of chinatowns and the community was growing fast by the time. The third chinatown was built. There were more than fourteen hundred people who lived there. It was called the second market street. Chinatown and it was located in downtown san jose. Where the fairmont hotel is today. This chinatown was much bigger than the ones that came before it drops three restaurants at theater and a temple. The people who live there worked in factories manufacturing cigars shoes clothing and furniture. connie young. you is a local historian. My grandfather came in eighteen. Eighty one he was the eleven year old boy. A laborer who was brought over by his uncle who had been living in san jose since eighteen sixties america was called dumb song goal mountain was telling him about this beautiful area where you can work hard and were good. Wages comes on. After arriving in san jose he worked in his uncle's shop where many laborers came to eat. Play cards and send money back home. Those days are as china labor. So he worked in the story else thought it was like a janitor and he helps search who to the workers when they came eventually he landed a job as a houseboy for a white dentist family outside of chinatown and it was there where he was exposed to racial violence for the first time when he would go back to the market street chinatown. He'd have to run really fast because why kids would be throwing rocks at him. So this was a vivid memory. He passed on to us. Kids the anti chinese movement had been building throughout the western united states for about twenty years at that point. Barbara voss is a historical archaeologist stanford and she says it's not surprising that young faced racial violence in san jose the first documented and verified act of chinese pilots. That i'm aware of was in eighteen. Sixty nine when the first methodist episcopal church which was a largely white shirt but that had a sunday a sunday school for chinese children and did missionary work to the chinese was burned down in an arson fire at this point california had already enacted legislation that targeted these immigrants from the foreign miners tax to morality laws which kept chinese women out and in eighteen eighty. Two congress passed the nation's most restrictive immigration bill the chinese exclusion act. It prohibited all chinese laborers from immigrating to the us and prevented those that. Were here from becoming citizens. This discrimination coming from federal and local governments set the scene for san jose to host california's first anti chinese convention in eighteen. Eighty six. here's barbara. There were motivational speakers. Who were chanting racist slogans. Arguing to the chinese must go making arguments about why why people were superior to chinese people making arguments about what they perceived as a negative impact of chinese immigrants and chinese americans on the economy of san. Jose barbara says there are echoes of that language. Today you might substitute some words. But the arguments are very very similar about taking jobs from white people or taking jobs for americans depressing wages. All those kinds of things she says. The rally drew attendees from all over the state. The anti chinese movement in san jose was as much about local boost resum as it was about racism and in fact those two things were seen as going together. The leaders of this movement felt that they could not promote san jose as a place for business development and settlement. If the chinatown remained in downtown a year after the convention the jose mercury news featured front page testimony from city leaders. Everyone from the fire and police chiefs to the street. Commissioner to the mayor had one message. Chinatown must go their opinion that the general condition of the locality in a sanitary point of view could not be worse. And in an aesthetic or moral sense it was revolting. The filth that has been accumulating for years is so thoroughly saturated under the walks and under the buildings gambling. Smoking and prostitution is carried on extensively and in a manner that renders a difficult to detect. Were convict no surprise. Mayor charles bray fogel and the city council voted unanimously to get rid of the second market street chinatown but before any official action was taken the second market street. Chinatown also burnt down. That made it the third san jose chinatown to succumb to arson. There are no recorded casualties. But homes and businesses were destroyed and the community was displaced before the fire. Chinese residents had already started moving out of san jose after the fire. Even more left there are anecdotal accounts from descendants that some people started considering whether or not to move back to china. Some folks moved into more rural areas where they were out of the public eye again. Connie you my grandfather fled to san francisco and he didn't come back for ten years. This community would rebuild again with the help of another immigrant. A farmer named john heinlein. he's a landowner. He came from words. Berg germany.

I think we we share a lot of similarities as far as a new new stadium being built to to make up for a bad situation You know some some rare splashes in the international market but in general a team. That is not putting money forward. What is the pressure like on ownership from the fan base. And what what is what is the general sort of viewpoint of of ownership of the team from sort of it's hard. Sal maida experiment if you will and Like a lotta year threes in in a new coaching regime. You know completely. New philosophy brought to san jose and not just at the i team. Yeah he's been influential at the academy level as well. The expectations within the organization are pretty high. This team expects to be a playoff team and they really hope they can kind of be up. The table I don't think there are a home team qualifier that first round but certainly not a team. That's going to have to scrape the last day to make the playoffs It's a i think from the outsider's perspective that seems pretty bold the western conference right now. But you gotta give it to. At least they're kind of saying the right things that confidence so let's get started with the player that has captured. I would say national media. Attention has captured the casual fan. Six thirty f- is the regular season. It's like regular season so I'm hoping that we start to see a bit more Chances converted rather than just created. I'm sure that that's was keeping richie burke at night if anything is Is seeing sort of the ball at the back of the net more frequently. But i think if you're if you're a spirit fan you've gotta feel confident you've gotta feel much relieved after that performance against gotham at home. It's a side. That is not going to concede wildly. And they're going to be exciting to watch dynamic and they have players that create matchup problems all over the field. They have physical advantage. They have speed advantage They are going to be a very exciting team. I don't know if i felt feel as confident as i did before. Preseason about sort of looking at the rosser saying this is probably a top two top three team. I'm not sure a lot of a lot of the sides in the challenge cup created a lot of opportunities and look very strong so to see hopping shakeout. We've got a whole season to to do that with so all that to say if you're not a spirit fan if you're listening to this because you're mostly decided fan i understand But please i would advise you to check it out there. An exciting side. They've got a lot of home capacity to. I think there were twenty three hundred people. Last night i think capacity was around forty. Five hundred. Zero tickets are available. "Toronto and i am you impact of the team or you can analyze both teams of you choose. Are we at a place. of course. they're they're taught contending teams in their division. But wouldn't we're paying closer attention out around the league. Do we still see the holes in the lineup. And maybe the maturity level of the group not being there yet to classify them as taught contenders over. I think a toronto's a little bit better than edmonton. I think there are a little deeper. You get you get past the big boys in edmonton and you kinda search. And on and i think you can see the dave tippett searches too because he moves those bottom. Six forwards around a lot will is gotta devon shore. And he's got a tyler. Innocent donahue is in you know. They've tried mcdavid together with dry sidled Part they've gotta find some balance to that. But but i don't think toronto's better setup to have more depth through the top of that lineup to the one wild card for me has been mike. Smith has been phenomenal. really. I mean the. The oilers circled back to smith after they took a couple of bigger swings and free agency and there were times when he looks like he stepped on a banana peel. But man he's big. He's athletic he can he fights like oh battles and he is given them top rate goaltending and i i think that's a a plus for edmonton so far that they probably didn't think they were going to have and in toronto. Is it fair to question the goaltending in in toronto purely because of the health right. I mean jack. Campbell is being managed now just to make sure they maintain is good health. We don't officially know what the heck is going on. With with freddie anderson but it must be more than just a nagging muscle strain or something along those lines so for a health perspective. There could be other reasons why. He question toronto's goaltending is at an area. They need to look i well. We don't have the information right. So but the the most concerning part of that whole thing to me. Obviously anderson's not right. He hasn't skated. I think it's march nineteenth. He was last on the ice. The fact that you're managing jack campbell makes.
