But on Tuesday, prosecutors around the state outline what may be the largest case of fraud in California history. But it's incredible chairman. It's very sad because a lot of those under It's a millions of dollars that have gone to prisoners in San Quentin and on death row could have gone to people at home who are struggling right now I need to put up meal on the table. State Senator Jerry Hill of San Matteo is chairman of the Senate's Labor Public Employment of Retirement Committee and is held hearings on the DDS inability to process claims. Fort Deserving Californians. The system, he says, was nowhere near prepared for massive unemployment and all of a sudden when that triples and quadruples in numbers and immediately it put such pressure on the system that In the training that's necessary that they could not deal with it. Prosecutors suspect jailed inmates have fraudulently collected hundreds of millions of dollars in phony claims with the state's employment development Department, Tim Dan from County jails to death row, Tens of thousands of inmates received unemployment checks behind bars. Prosecutors say Ah, fraud totaling hundreds of millions of dollars, if not a billion was so rushed to get the money to people which you can understand, just didn't do the work and provide the security and the identification that's necessary to do it right. And those hundreds of millions of dollars of guns, progeny only tow people in prison. Hopefully they can get that money back. State Senator Jerry Hill of San Matteo is chaired hearings on the E D. D M s saying that fixes are in place now to catch this sort of fraud. This is a major Major disaster for not only employers in California, but it just shows the lack of oversight. Checks were sent to San Quentin's death row prisoners, although it's not clear whether the inmates perpetrated that fraud or whether others did it in their name. 21 people, mostly inmates have been charged with fraud here in

"Comes from San Matteo Credit Union had the California report on public radio. Now it's ah, the listener perspective from author and hiker, Diana Helle meth. Who says it's unfortunate but now may not be the best time to go backpacking in the Sierra Nevada. September is traditionally one of the best months to hike the Sierra Nevada. But when I watched the creek fire break out last week across the trail head I have a scheduled to hike from I am certain this will no longer be the case. When I tried to rearrange my vacation to hike the glittering lakes of the Shasta Trinity wilderness of the granite slopes near Tahoe. My hopes were further dashed as the Forest Service did something that has never done before close access to all of California's back country. But still, I felt lucky to be thinking about recreating it all as a backpacker and hiker. My love for California goes beyond culture and politics. I love her backbone mountains, her meadows of fairy grass, her smiling blue skies, her flowery breath, her cloudy hair. For this love. I am happy to forgo campfires abandoned my soda Can alcohol stove donate to firefighting efforts and, yes, change my plans. You could feel every hiker in California cringe at the news that a pyrotechnic device that a gender reveal party ignited the creek fire. But this is a healthy reminder to all who go into California's natural wonders. Our state looks immortal, but she is not. She is at our mercy. The trunks of high elevation Conifers and coastal redwoods are hardy and their stunts. Khun Survive firestorms, a further testament of their magnificence. But hiking through the charred landscape of a former fire is brutal. There is no shade, no grass, no birds. Mosquitoes are at their peak terrors with no one to feed on them and nothing else to feed on. But you it is a bone yard. Of course, nature will grow back in the wake of the 2017 complex fires across the Noma in Napa. Fire follower, flowers carpeted the hills and ecstatic display of hope, rising from the ashes and a reminder that this is all a cycle. With forest taking years, sometimes decades, tearing you after the devastation of fire, and we are only on earth for a short time. Please consider the fragility of our forests as you hide California for the years to come. What sections of her? You are lucky enough to still see With a perspective on day and helmet. "This morning comes from San Matteo credit union I'm Dave Freeman with a perspective up next good morning the pandemic and the nation's response to it have laid bare some of R. and during not so novel inequities Claudia Walker has today's perspective social distancing we've been practicing it for the past several weeks to help flatten the curve of the novel coronavirus the social distancing isn't new it's been a long standing indicator of a melody that's much deadlier and far more contagious than carpet nineteen that disease racism as a mom and teacher I believe the quality education is a human right but I also know that despite the brown versus board of education ruling the school systems are still incredibly segregated in painfully on equal like so many amid the recent school closures I become a homeschooling mom yet for most of us the question is when not if our children's schools will be open the same can't be said for the tens of thousands of children in cities like Oakland DC in Chicago who experience permanent school closures after years of neglect and underfunding these closures dictated by zip code almost exclusively impact for students of color while leaving white kids relatively unscathed and speaking of the codes although America is one of the most racially diverse countries in the world you wouldn't know it by looking at our neighborhood highly segregated in many ways they are the epitome of social distancing while some might insist that we live in a post racial America where practices like white flight red lining and discrimination are things of the past experience tells me otherwise it reminds me that progress doesn't happen overnight that this race to replicate racism is a marathon not a sprint so I keep running but constantly checking my GPS because I know that something as seemingly harmless as jogging into the wrong neighborhood could be fatal with a perspective I'm Claudia Walker body Walker is.
