"The Dixie mafia, available now on the Odyssey app, or wherever you get your podcasts. In case CBS News time 1258 traffic and weather together, a lot of people zipping around the Bay Area. Let's see what's happening in San Francisco as Shane. Well they're not zipping around San Francisco at the moment, it looks like a lot of lanes or all lanes are blocked on one O one southbound right there at two 80, not sure what's causing this delay, can't find out on our cameras. If you're stuck in that delay or just got out of it, give me a call in the case CBS phone force line of four one 5 three 9 one KCB S now, getting out of San Francisco, making your way after you get out of that delay. One on one south ballot continuing on into San Bruno through milbray all the way down toward San Mateo, not seeing any delays. If you are trying to head over towards half moon bay, let's take a look at highway 92, westbound side, leaving out a San Mateo as you continue on, going past two 80, not seeing any delays. In fact, it's going to be a smooth ride as you make your way towards the coast. And speaking of the coast, we're looking at a highway one right now, no slow traffic in either direction as you make your way from half moon bay all the way over into Pacifica and vice versa. It's excuse me, your next updates at one O 8 on the traffic leader, kcbs. Beautiful sunshine afternoon just a few high clouds overnight. It definitely chilly again coming up 30s and 40s today and tomorrow our highs are in the mid to upper 60s. Traffic and weather together on K CBS. It's Sunday, November 20th, 2022 coming up on K CBS. "Here. Day night and weekend, we keep you up to date on the news traffic and weather, it's one more reason why we're the Bay Area's number one news station. San Francisco is out the best food of all kinds man from street food to forestall restaurants, right? I just love the restaurants. All news all the time. Right here on K CBS. Well, we've had a few small problems with Saturday morning on the roads. Let's see if anything's changed with Ted Raimi. Yeah, we continue to have little problems pop up, but none of which that have at this point really caused many problems. We told you last time about reports of a wrong way driver right now in coming off the San Mateo bridge, this is now 92 westbound a claw witter. They are shutting everything down, so there is an attempt to stop that car from driving the wrong direction. As you would hope, not a terrible idea. Also, dunbarton bridge area, eastbound 84, just east of one O one on the Peninsula side in Redwood City, haven't accidents here that it was initially reported as blocking all lanes, emergency crews are responding. But again, I'm not seeing the slowing that I would find consistent with that type of blockage. So again, if you're in the area and see anything, let us know on Twitter at KCB SAM FM traffic. Right now, taking a look at the Golden Gate Bridge. We've had a dense fog advisory, but no slowing. Same story for the San Mateo bridge, dense fog advisory, but that's not impacting traffic and really all around the Bay Area. Things are looking pretty good. Your next update, 8 28 on the traffic leader, case CBS. All right, we'll check the 6 day forecast now with a member of the brigade of sleep deprived meteorologist Darren pick. "All the time on the Odyssey app and listen to the home stretch on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's get the latest on traffic right now from Ted Raimi. And we've had a new red come in in Los altos hills, southbound two 80 approaching El Monte listed his blocking the left lane. CHP is responding not seeing any slowing yet, but we'll see if anything does pick up here, but the good news is that it has been pretty light out there this morning despite some accidents that we've seen. We haven't seen much in the way of slow traffic, where we have had a little it went away, but now it's popped up again as an earlier solo spin out in the maze in Oakland 5 80 west on the connector to 80 eastbound that was at the speed limit after we had seen some slowing, but now it is slowing down once again. If you're in the area and you see anything, let us know on Twitter at kcbs a.m. FM traffic again that's at kcbs a.m. FM traffic and actually the CHP just did update this there blocking the two left lanes of that connector briefly probably to clear something so that should be back at the speed limit momentarily. But right now most of the Bay Area looking very good, there are fog warnings for the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Mateo bridge, but not much slowing out there to be found. Your next update, 7 28 on the traffic leader, case CBS. And that's been out maybe the result may be of some of the missed out there. We also have patchy fog along the coast and at the bridges, Lowe is currently in the 40s out there in most spots, although temperatures are rising, we're seeing 50s in some areas. Today it's going to be mostly cloudy throughout the Bay Area with highs ranging from the low to upper 60s

"Ques CBS News time to 11 with more news here's brat. Patio civil grand jury report critical of the San Francisco forty-niners political influence in Santa Clara continues to be a lightning rod. Mike dewald reports on new allegations that the team may have intimidated jurors. While the forty-niners forcefully deny the claim, two sources close to the grand jury tell the San Francisco Chronicle a pair of jurors reportedly felt they were being intimidated because of the report, the accusations got the attention of retired state senator and San Mateo county superior court judge, Quentin kopp, who says he believes the team should be required to prove its denials. I would conduct a hearing in open court and call witnesses not only from the civil grand jury itself. The grand jury report has divided the Santa Clara city council on one hand in a statement to kcbs, mayor Lisa Gilmore calling the intimidation accusations scary in an attempt to control a watchdog. Others say the report has inaccuracies and doesn't paint a complete picture. Councilman Kevin park points to a pair of jurors recusing themselves for conflict of interest. It really calls me the question impartiality. But unfortunately, we have a system that was doesn't expect to take into account the fact that these kinds of problems would occur. The council will form an official response, the forty-niners call the grand jury report, quote, election propaganda might dewalt, some changes in the warriors line up tonight. "The ad council. Kcbs news time 1212, the San Francisco forty-niners are strongly denying a report that the team intimidated members of a civil grand jury in Santa Clara. Mike dewalt reports this comes on the heels of a grand jury report that's critical of the team's political influence. The allegations come from accounts to the San Francisco Chronicle by two anonymous sources close to the grand jury, one juror alleging they were tailed by a motorist to the other claiming to see an unknown intruder on their property, both believing the incidents related to the grand jury report, retired state senator and San Mateo county superior court judge Quinton cop says he's concerned by the appearance of the team investigating individual jurors. He says it's something Santa Clara county district attorney Jeff Rosen should look into. The he should certainly initiated an investigation, both of the facts and of the law on the subject. Cop believes the team should prove an open court that it isn't in contempt. As for the forty-niners, in a statement, the team admits it's actively pushed back against the report's findings, calling it quote election propaganda, but forcefully denies any kind of juror intimidation, the team saying it's concerned by the reports and would never use those kind of tactics. The Santa Clara city council will form an official response, council member Kevin parke says he has lingering questions. Never happened. Like, I didn't even know things were going on. I'm named in the report. And they never know what to talk to me. No comment from the civil grand jury and Santa Clara county says the report is now squarely in the court system. Mike dewald. "I forgot about like half of those two laser. We'd like to drink during her shows if you have a notice and s and a little overboard especially when we're all together in the studio and there's some good fucking moments. I ever sad that there was only. I mean like the ones that we were altogether. But then you were here. It was really weird. It's like oh my god. I have been there. You were at the studio where we had you here. It was the thing that actually existed and there was just so many memories like i think. Sometimes we forget how many years that we've been doing the show for and how many episodes this is episode to forty three on. I believe and sometimes at the top of the episode. I'll be like this is your first episode or your. Yeah but then you made me do the nfl. And i remember that. Because i blackout moment where i was like. Oh shit. I remember to most times. It's not like i do. Every week is something. I do every once in a while. Right take the call out to people. Just how many episodes we've been doing the show and it's just one of those things that you look back and go. Wow we've really had a lot of really cool fund memories together absolutely. Thanks for putting that together guys really. Well it's really all brittany and she definitely reject me and was like. Can you help me with this thing. Yes and then. I forgot to her but but it was a tag team effort of compiling the clips over the years because whenever we compile clips for like our anniversary streams and then like that. It's a team effort between brittany. And i because you know britney put together these awesome social promotions that you guys see on facebook or on twitter and then i at the show know most weeks and all put together random clips that i have are like down moments things that we do before the show things that we do on the brakes stuff that you guys never see on the show and britney is almost always clipping stuff. That's inside the show. And all the things that never sees the light of day otherwise and look one of our compilations and so we have quite a cornucopia of clips in our hashtag clips folder in our archives. So it was fun to go back and we have so many amazing memories. I just think back to the first year that we launched the show that wg con where everybody came to my house and san mateo. And we're like. Are we gonna do this thing. So we're all here. Let's rock and roll the clip to where i was like. Oh that was. I was in my aunt's house. Also barry i remember we would shoot the show and the sun would move so dramatically from when we would start recording to the end of the recording that you would start in like full sunlight and then you have to turn all of your lights on by the end of it. Be pitch black. We've got to be better. Well there's really not. I'm in her bedroom. Like there's not much pillows or some shit. I my extent i didn't have a we had. He's like who's paying for it borstal. How many people thousand not getting an invoice before anything like that. So the guy drove down. It was like an eight hour drive. Brought eight people spent two nights up and make it. sounds crazy. when someone's rams saying like the outside of the bubble sounds even odder you all you want to argue with gaz and be like he's certainly getting the details so far nothing go ahead it rolls and no one thought to ask when they were walking around there. There's a thousand people. Just eat free food free food. Her caught the building cut the bill. They were running around saying like no bar paid for. It's all good like tolfree. i mean knowing kirk. I'm assuming kirk just like took it out. Or whatever i mean. Yeah that's why he was the money he's got money but he was the how it all went down. But yeah he's like it comes out of my money It costing me my so. You're actually doing another shell to make to make up for it. I mean honestly that sort of on the caterer just like not hold why you hiring somebody eight hours away. But he did. He did the last one in motto oscar and they reached out to them to do it. Yeah but some level it'd be like yeah but that's eight hours away. Yeah no they knew that world not before that's on him. I mean that's that's did you see the text exchange. It's true though this whole with. I'm sorry about whose whose voice i think it's the producer i forget who the produce is a kareem. Obviously eighty so right. Go ahead dave was like catering for one thousand people confirm this and all he said was confirmed that day exchange business right it is on. The caterer is not like idiot on our side on manhattan but hold on. If you're doing business honestly you should be like what are you doing. You can't just show up with a twenty thousand dollar bill. Well who hires a caterer like that far away fair. Because that's where all the costs and everything not i did see it. That's the first. I've heard it's very milton like paul's very funny very funny. They love it though. That's the thing there's this real. Yeah and that's. That's exactly right the caters to blame and we're to blame but i don't want to talk more but like i don't i can't worry about blaming cater. The right fucked up whenever working with him again right so inches we from his for his own safety to do it without a contract or something you know true. I mean we could've been assholes about it. I guess and then got tie. But you know i don't want to you know and you heard dave confirm and i saw some people tweeting. This comes out of my end. There's no there's any mystery guests deal. It's true though it comes out of my hand. you know. Luckily were successful enough that we can get away with stuff like that once or twice. But i'm sure you'll fuck something up and sokha next one gal for sure not not not that scale. I trust you guys. Aren't that stupid stupid. And thirty thousand but something will be fucked up. I have no doubt about it so you don't respond to the business stuff like i texted you an invoice here that you didn't even respond to it. We'll judgment responded. Send it like just get rid of like the thing for the other thing. Yeah thank you. so so. Because he's six hundred dollars or something. Yeah i just figured that's that's that's what it is. They trust you enough that you know that. That's what would you like me to do. Just say okay send that wherever it needs to go like. I did no. He didn't say anything. So then not this is. My only point is trying to learn from these situations. Is i have a contract now from the food cart right. i'm paid invoice from other wasco. This one yep three hundred dollars correct for mather wasco yes. That was not from soccer now from san mateo okay. I was actually the question about this. Because i was the bill by the way is to bar b. Ar space stools. Actually so is the next one day. Hello tear sewer services. French ville maine. Yes portable toilet rental the lux model as always. We don't fuck around. So we ordered to deluxe models was sinks wait porta potties and meadow oscar. Yeah the closest bathroom was like six miles away. I thought so well no so when we when you walked out like if you walk the walk away from the lake obviously up little hill. Go the bathroom there right. Yeah those rentals. What then go to the bathroom. Because i thought i would never make it back. It was it was not. I mean it wasn't a half a mile away but it was probably a tenth of a mile away so the only reason i got it hold on. I don't understand this. we're gonna fight this one delivered lakeshore road to travis as camp. So is that for travis issue. No i don't remember there being bathrooms there either. You were there for that right. Yeah okay. i wasn't there for that. So i was there. I mean there may have been a portable. I didn't use his bathroom. I don't remember. "San mateo. Welcome to judaism unbounded so great to have you. Thank you very much in this book. You talk a lot about what you call the original bible. Could you tell us a little bit about what that original bible is what you mean by when it when it was written. What is this original bible that you're finding within the bible as we know it what i mean by that is that it's missing the first story from the logically that was written down and then every subsequent story was built upon it So that's what i mean by. The original wide will probably more accurately the original original torah. Tell us a little more about what that means to sort of. Open up a version of the bible that we have which is to say. I don't know the unoriginal early like another version. And what is that like archaeology task. Like where you're sort of a us. Rq because it seems like digging. It's like you're you're looking through layers and the second question who cares. They're a great sentence or two in your book. So one person wrote the bible or twenty five people wrote the bible like so what we have a thing like. What is it. What are the ramifications if multiple people wrote this or if there was an original source or not. I liked the comparison an archaeology. You know it's a productive one. Because i 'cause the way i look at the at the toronto especially is that it's like sediment that cruise i think of layers as opposed to sources posted documents And there's one basic story and then every subsequent author added their own layer

One Medical's Coronavirus Vaccine Practices Spark Congressional Investigation

"Are investigating a major healthcare provider that led people jumped the line to get covid nineteen vaccines. They're following up on an npr investigation of one medical documents. Show that company administered vaccines to ineligible patients. Some of whom had connections with company leadership. Npr investigative correspondent. Tim mack joins us now. Tim good morning. Good morning what lawmakers want to know. So basically this is a subcommittee. That's led by congressman. Jim clyburn this is the house. Select subcommittee on the coronavirus crisis. And what they're really looking for is evidence that the company intentionally distributed vaccines to ineligible patients across multiple states which is incidentally one of the conclusions. Npr investigation published about a week ago. One of the committee's concerns is that there should be an equitable distribution of vaccines one that prioritizes those most at risk in society rather than the wealthy or well-connected and so the committee is giving one medical two weeks to provide documents about their vaccination practices. One medical of course is a primary healthcare provider that is publicly traded and valued in the billions of dollars. It's business model is to provide tech driven primary health care for members who usually pay about the two hundred dollars a year in. Okay so you you pay this fee. You can go to the doctor when you need a checkup or whatever they were also helping to get vaccines out there. But now here they are giving the vaccines to the wrong people. What does that mean for. Local health departments that were using one medical as a distribution source our distribution channel right so we reached out to every local jurisdiction where one medical best business. We found that eat. Local jurisdictions have cut the company off from vaccine. Allocations are not planning to work with them again in the future. For example san francisco county made the unusual move of not only halting apply vaccine so the company but also demanding one thousand six hundred and twenty doses back in san mateo county said it had done an investigation and found at one medical had vaccinated seventy individuals who are eligible to be vaccinated at that time it to stopped the allocation vaccines to the company. So those are just a couple of examples.

Africa and museums: shaping the future; rethinking the past

Twenty eight dialogues. Include voices from across the world attempting to define museums and the challenges and opportunities ahead of them now and in the coming days among them. Direct is of african museums including sonia lawson the director of the paladin loma in togo in west africa. Andress and sonia join me to discuss the role of museums today and look at how sonya's togalese institution reflects a new coq drew dynamism on the african continent andress. I wanted to begin by asking you. This book was written on zoom. Just as we are now essentially so you talked to twenty eight museum or cultural institution directors about what they were doing. It happened to be done in the covy deer as it were but was it. Germinating is an idea for a much longer period this spring. I wrote an article in art. Net news actually wrote it over easter weekend. So i remember did very well I guess that was early april. I can't remember the exact dates and it was an article about reopening museums. And it just hit a nerve. It really got a lot of people talking at the time. And i heard from dozens and dozens of museum directors and just became part of illogic conversation. And that's when we really realized that this is the moment because it gave us an editorial frame because it it really was a moment that made us ask what is the future about. Still trying to figure it out. I think there's no doubt in all of our minds that this is one of those years in the calendar that will be a turning point. A historical marker where new phase is beginning persona. I think this phase is the one that started in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine just ended. Now we have a new face. So what does that mean for museums. Once i figured out that this would be a book not just of conversations with museum. Directors conversations about the future not necessarily revisiting. Why museums have been great in the past of which many reasons to talk about that too but to really have a forward-looking and that is what led to choices like this extraordinary new institution in togo. Which i think is such a taste of where museums or cultural institutions or cultural centers are headed All around the world so so in a way this moment. This covert moment crystallized. How such a book could come about and how we would choose directors to be in it before we speak specifically about sons institution. I wanted to ask you about a phrase that you use in the to the book where you talk about how. The paradigm smashing experimentation in museums and cultural institutions is happening in effectively in the global south so in africa in asia in latin america. Can you expand on that a bit now. Because what do you think lies behind that. Well first of all i. That's not to say it's not happening elsewhere. And i think the book provides lots of examples of how people are thinking you in original ways about museums all around the world. But i think that there are perhaps two main reasons. Why so many of these truly interesting. And i would say inspiring. Examples of new practices are often happening in the global. South one is that many of these institutions are brand new. So it's you can speak to this. They have an opportunity to really design for the now and for the future. They're not dealing with a legacy infrastructure. They're not trying to retrofit something. That was already there and tried to adapt it to the future.

Proposition 25: Cash Bail

"Political correspondent Marissa Lagos is covering prop twenty five for cake. And she's also the CO host of the podcast political breakdown. Welcome Russa Pale, Libya. I. Can you take us through how the cash bail bond system works in California now? Yes. To do this I am going to make you an accused Felon Olivia Allen Price Right. So you're walking down the street in San Mateo County. You, get arrested on suspicion of possession for sale of a controlled substance. This wouldn't be like you have a little wheat in your bag. This would be like maybe you got a bunch hair win or they think you do. The bill for that is going to be set at twenty five thousand dollars just by the schedule that exists in San Mateo County. So the officers would arrest you and either you would have to over twenty five grand to the county to secure release or possibly depending on how big of a drug dealer they think you are. They might make before a judge who could either lower or increase that twenty five thousand. Dollars say you don't have twenty five grand laying around I mean really who does right? You would then decide whether you're going to stay in jail until you can get a trial set or you might call a bail bonds agency and what they would do is essentially guarantee the county that they would pay that twenty five grand if you skipped out on your case. So if you didn't come back for your trial dates. In exchange for that, you would have to pay them ten percent of that amount. So twenty five, hundred dollars. If you have the twenty five grand to post your own bail, you would get that money back regardless of whether you got convicted of the crime or the charges got dropped or you. Were found to be innocent. You would just get that money the just there to make sure you show up at trial. However, if you didn't have that kind of cashing around and you had to go through a bail bond agent that twenty, five, hundred dollars that you gave them to secure your bond, you would forfeit, you would never get that money back. The whole cash bail system has been under fire for a long time for being inequitable give us an example of how that inequity plays out. Look people who have been accused of very violent crimes up to murder can sometimes post bail if they have the means but a lot of people end up languishing behind bars for really minor crimes because they just don't have the money their families don't have the money and disproportionately study after study shows these tend be black and Brown people. If you can't pay that bail amount. You can't go to work. You might lose custody of your kid by losing your work. You might not be able to pay your rent. So what critics of the system say is that it kind of perpetuates the cycle of poverty. And potentially leads more people into crime or can lead people to plead guilty to things that they did not do or that they might have a good chance of fighting because they essentially just WanNa get out of jail and get back to their lives.

Los Angeles - Newsom Announces Statewide Face Mask Mandate

"Became aware that there were public health officials who had a meeting with that governor Newsom recently and they they said said that that a a state state wide wide mass mass border border was was under under consideration consideration by by the the governor's governor's office office that that they they were were told told that that unequivocally unequivocally there there were were a a lot lot of of people people of of the the complained complained that that every every county county considers considers wearing wearing masks masks differently differently and and you you know know what what let let me me just just kind kind of of go go through through this this because because it's it's all all going going to to change change now now since the governor has indeed issued that order it's no longer something he's contemplating he has done it he has issued a statewide order that people have to wear a mask that I need to get a copy of what the order is and we'll see if we can that come up with that pretty quickly so that we can find out exactly what that means and where and when people are required to wear mascot where masks in the state of California but the way that it has been here in the bay area almost all counties have required masks San Francisco county Marin county Alameda San Mateo Contra Costa and sin noma all require masks San Francisco's order requires people to wear masks when writing transit working at essential businesses grocery shopping and other activities where they will be near other people in Santa Clara county they only recommended that people wear masks Los Angeles and San Diego counties which are the state's largest I didn't realize San Diego is the second largest county in the state they both require people to wear masks in public riverside and San Bernardino counties created mask requirements but then they walked away from them in Orange County they were mandating masks but then the public health officer down there doctor Nicole quick received threats for issuing that order she quit as a result of the threats that were coming in and then Orange County downgraded its mask requirement to a recommendation lord have mercy the way people respond to this and and Newsom on Monday he recalled the second wave of the Spanish flu which was more deadly than the first he said it is incumbent upon us as individuals to be smart to wear a face covering to physically distance to continue to wash your hands and continue to do things that are necessary to avoid that second wave he said it's one thing to be outside it's another to be inside for an extended period of time without the ability to move around and move away from people this I suppose is a one of the things that guided him there was a state senator from a Renda his name Steve Glazer he's been pushing for a statewide mask order he's a guy who said that it's an issue that should not be dependent on county choice Stanislaus county was considering a mask order now they're not going to have to do that because the state is going to do it instead Sacramento county officials were also considering their recommendation to become a requirement
