Joel Klein of the National Weather Service says this is the first time he's ever seen an L named Storm this early in the season. Seems like each letter has been that way is the earliest we've had a A J or nature or whatever for NPR news. I'm Olivia wrangled in San Juan, Puerto Rico. "The simple life and the rise of Paris Hilton when it first came out because you and I were both working in media and entertainment and we saw this phenomena and I remember very clearly like. There was a turning point when NPR did a very serious story about the simple life and Paris Hilton and her sex tape. And, for people haven't seen that sex tape, it's a tape that basically has a young ingenue. What is the debutante Paris Hilton going down on the guy's penis like a raccoon eighty about Nanna from the garbage. Too Don't they. They're having sex and the man that she was in having sex with was EEG, dailies, husband, and. Solemn daily was a guest to the podcast. You interviewed her I was I was out of town or I was in Norway maybe at the time you are on yeah. You were in on for Narnia, the reality. She didn't know it was her husband at first, but she had suspicions that. But and then I think she saw this tape she was just like Yup and she knew that that thing must've been leaked on purpose as well it. Yeah. It definitely was a lot of different unsavory people including Paris Hilton. Were involved in this sort of using it. Recklessly. At the time to sort of push themselves out there I do remember Kim Kardashian when her sex tape came out her reaction was very much crocodile tears was like, oh no, you know my life is ruined my career ruin but she's having this conversation when the camera crew in front of on her reality TV show keeping up with the Kardashians. So in a lot of ways you know Paris Hilton to me reminded me of lot of the wealthy international families children that I went to school with in Puerto Rico and the one thousand, nine, hundred, Eighty s who had these mansions in San Juan Puerto Rico in. Puerto Rico is not the richest country in the world, and here you have these very this children for very powerful families coming in and they're like watching, MTV they're singing by the pool they're having all these parties and they're just really their minds and their bodies are disconnected. Just don't want to do anything with their lives and so for me, it was really easy to relate to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in the TV show the simple life because they're reminded me of lot of these kids that I went to school with. The book Paris probably got like four hundred thousand dollars for the sex tape and then. Kim's May probably like fifty million. That's how much money that sex tape has made is fifty million dollars. It's not amazing girl I wish I made even half of that with my scruff and grinder photos. I nobody's GonNa pay for that time to get an only fan..

"I had I played really well for the first grounds. Unfortunately missed too many greens the last day around that Gulf horse. You can't you can't really miss do many catches up to quick yet. So he, but so in in six so you you've played at six starts you made three cuts. Yes, you've made one hundred K so far on the PGA tour. I think you made one hundred sixty K last tour. Yeah. So that's kind of gives you an idea of the of the range and difference. Just kind of I don't know. Everybody knows a lot of money professional golf, but just see in some the size of some of the paychecks that come in the guys are the guys that are doing this for the first time. This is a very serious thing. I think I saw one of your tweets right after Adam long one in Adams been a pro for five years six years. Maybe I think even longer than that. Yeah. He doubled his earnings in one week. Yeah. His career earnings eight hundred eighty five K or something through eight professional seasons. Exact and then won a million bucks. Yeah. And it's it's awesome. It's the opportunities that we have out here on the PGA tour to provide for our families. To play in front of fans the way that we do is incredible. It is. So so unique and so cool. So what's next for you? Then what are you in events? Go on are you are you the reshuffle is after Genesis after Genesis. So will you slide up again based on your finish, Tori, or you? I would hope so. Yeah, I have I really hope. So I don't know though. And that's kind of the scary thing, we're planning travel. It's like, well, we're going to Pebble Beach next week and maybe Los Angeles do the Monday qualify for Los Angeles. And then we'll get it onto Puerto Rico and After Puerto Rico I'd love to play here in Florida but same times, but this new schedule, you don't know how many guys are going to want to be playing early in Florida. If they're going to be doing prep for the players. It's coming up here in about a month. And it's coming up suit really quick we have to WGC's in the next six weeks. I think like it's packed. Yeah. Very packed early on. So I have onsite other than pebble and Puerto Rico. I don't really know all be played next. It's funny. To hear like the your excitement for WGC's, which means that there's an opposite. Yeah. I guess Puerto Rico and Dominican how do flights work. I mean, what do you like you said, you don't know what you're going to pebble? You don't have return flight booked or Joe figure that out on a expensive to fly last minute. All the time. Yes. It definitely you lose a couple hundred bucks every time I travel with my wife, I'm very thankful that she's out there with me. Now it's way more enjoyable than it was when you travel alone just by what Curtis maxima thing hanging out together every afternoon every night the. Yeah, it does get, but we have a rental car booked for Monterey to LA one way. And hopefully, we can drop it off and trade it in for courtesy card that we can stay LA and then fly from LA to San Juan Puerto Rico. We'll see God. That's amazing. All right. If we're gonna we're gonna predict the event that you have your first PGA tour win at what what would you? What would you guess the event is going to be what's golf course that you're like, okay? That one's for me. I don't know. I honestly haven't seen. I gotta tell you where I would love to win of her son bail. Okay, grew up here in Orlando. I didn't play hill. Professional went out to the tournament. Never was invited out to play never got on the golf course to actually play. I walked it actually followed same Saunders around when I was in highschool after we went to the same high school here in Orlando, huge fan of his grown-up when he went to Clemson turned pro his playing in the third round with Colin Montgomerie in two thousand ten two thousand eleven or something like that. I saw every shot same hit that that that round. There's also is fun is so cool as something that I love going out and seeing on Arnold.

"Epsom, the if you want to print from Chromebook with a cable, you know, the old school pretty much have to use an HP printer. Because Chromebooks don't come with printer drivers. So. You know, they they're designed to print over the cloud of Google cloud print at any printer can use Google fabric wirelessly, but our last call didn't have internet. Right. So this is going to be his one and only internet device so cloud print won't solve that. I guess you probably could print to kinkos. I bet you anything. They have cloud print enable printers, and you can print to them for a fee if you didn't do a lot of printing that at work. But if you did want to have your own printer HP makes a printer. I think it's very clever that has a chrome OS extension that works on a Chromebook. And then you just hook it up by the USB cable, and you can print. It's kind of old fashioned. But there are I think this is one of the things the tech industry is done. This not good, which is assumed that everyone has internet access. Everybody's got internet access. No problem. And not everybody has internet access. What if you start at just starting out bail in San Juan Puerto Rico? Hello bill. Leo, you're doing I hope you are things in San Juan. Rebuilding. The tourism is great this year. People should come down. Take a couple years. Get everything else sits back up after Maria. We're doing fine right now. Happy to hear it San Juan is one of my favourite Caribbean destinations. I just love Puerto Rico, and I was so heartbroken to hear about the the trouble. Some very glad things are going. Well. Yeah. I I gave myself a Christmas present of a. The US. Twenty eight seventy two lives. Oh, are you a nice person? I Santa Claus is great. I'm going on a cruise in the Mediterranean this spring, and I want to know some tips. So I can use the not get the same stolen ripped off. Oh, man. Well, first of all don't carry it. Okay. The very first thing. I do I carry very expensive cameras to when I travel fact, I'll never forget I was in Buenos Aires after midnight beautiful city loved walking around Argentina, and I'm carrying around my cannon five d Mark three. Actually, it's probably a five Mark to back. Then. And just taking pictures beautiful night. And somebody walks up me test me on the shoulder and said senor, you should not be doing this. You are going to get robbed. I and I want to say I've never lost. I've never been mugged hijacked stole nothing as ever been. I've traveled a lot as you know, too, many many countries, and I've never had anything stolen knock on wood. But here's some tips. Here's one of the things I would recommend first of all take that canon strap right off. That's a big ole advertisement, isn't it? You can buy better straps, anyway on Amazon, or whatever the camera strap itself should be innocuous and not advertise the brand and make it a camera because that's just saying, hey over here. There's a nice camera over here. So that's step one step to camouflage, the cameras sometimes I carry cameras that have very distinctive markings, Leica cameras, for instance, have a very distinctive big red dot on it now for camera. Most thieves are not savvy, but if a camera thief sees that big red dot knows what he's seeing. He's seen an expensive camera that may be more likely. So like a lot of photographers put black electrical tape over markings to kind of discourage people, you might even get a case. And if and if you carry your camera around your neck instead of over your shoulder like a pro, but around your neck like a tourist, and you have it in the case, it might look like just a cheap point and shoot tourist camera less likely to get stolen the biggest threat though, and this happens, and it's happened to many many friends. Is you you don't carry the cameras? He's hard to steal it. They'd have to mug you or cut the strap and like snatch it, so if you keep you keep your hands around, and you you keep your eye peeled. That's hard to do. But what often happens people put stuff in bags backpacks bags, of course, it's very convenient. And then they sit down at a cafe, and they put the bag under the chair that is guaranteed to get stolen guaranteed. So I always keep my leg through a strap of the of the backpacker the bag if I'm not wearing it that way, nobody's gonna slide out from under me. There's another thing to be aware of in some cities. They're very sophisticated pickpockets, my friend, John C devora got robbed. I think it was in Barcelona. He was sitting in a cafe he had a nice camera? He carries nice cameras to on a table. A little old lady. A little sweet old lady tripped and fell onto his table in front of him. And he will only helped her up, and when by the time, he got her back on his ways her confederate at robbed them blind took his wallet tickets gamut everything so so via wear that there are you know, that it is you've got to keep an eye on your stuff on the other hand don't be afraid. I carry very good expensive cameras. I've carried them everywhere in the world even stupidly after midnight in Buenos Aires, and I've never been never been robbed. I did by the way, heed that advice and went home. But but but I've never had any knock on wood never had anything stolen from me. Normal really the people who get robbed tend to be. They're just not paying attention. They're they're kind of you know, so excited to be where they are. They put their bag under there Charron things like that. So. Disguise it camouflage it and then keep an eye on it in Barcelona ended up with somebody. Hand in my pocket. Exactly. Yeah. And I'll do that one unrelated more unrelated question, Leo. Sure. I used to have an ass in I map. Network drives to the. Yeah. When does not the index it. Okay. Every time I restart computer. It's indexing the five Sargon it. Dag nabet. So they're mapped as a drive letter. And you've said to windows do not indexed drive e but it still does it. Yeah. I'm gonna have to punt on this one and ask our brain trust in the chat room and anybody listening. How do you keep windows permanently from indexing a Dr.

Puerto Rico bankruptcy judge upholds oversight board powers over government
"I'm Rachel Martin, good morning a federal judge has ruled that Puerto Rico does not have the final say when it. Comes to its own fiscal policy the final word belongs to a fiscal oversight board, that congress, created two years ago it's a ruling that will have far reaching consequences for, the island's financial future to. Talk about that. Let's bring it NPR's Adrian flurry toe from San, Juan Puerto Rico Adrian hey Rachel so this fiscal oversight board was created way before the hurricane when Puerto Rico was. Still suffering from all kinds of financial problems right yeah I mean remember it was a couple of years ago the government basically, said that it would not be able, to pay the more than seventy billion. Dollars that it owes to bondholders, into, that led congress to do two things that passed Allowing. The islands to effectively declared bankruptcy to restructure. That debt it also created this seven. Member board with. Huge power to make decisions. About the island's finances in order to to get this debt under control and turn the economy around listen to what the. Board's chairman Jose Korean told me in our colleague Michelle Martin back in June the. Government's function aside from taking care of the needy is to create the economic conditions whereby private enterprise. Succeeds and employees folks creates wealth that's that's the nature, of our, system, are, legal. Needs destruction reforms that will allow it to do so with the board sees one of its roles is being as forcing Puerto. Rican? Government. To implement, these sorts of reforms along with huge spending. Cuts in this you can imagine his has been big source of tension right so then their control was essentially a called into question because the governor of Puerto Rico and the legislature In Puerto Rico sued the oversight. Board, last month the governor and legislature don't believe that this federally, appointed board should be able to, force the, local government to implement these measures, they think they can recommend but not not require the government to. Do so until one example input Rico workers are entitled by law to a Christmas bonus the board wants this bonus eliminated and so in the budget that it drew up. For Puerto Rico did not include enough money for something the governor said, it did not have the. Right to do, it's just one example I mean the fundamental question here right is when it comes to fiscal policy to fiscal reform canvas. Board do that who has the final say the elected government to fourth three or the sport created. By congress and yesterday with, this federal judge ruled is that it's this appointing board that they have the power to overrule Puerto Rico's government when it comes to. To financial policy well so I can't imagine that government, in? Puerto Rico Governor there especially is very happy about this then no he was not a huge overseas but But he issued a statement saying that. It was proof that the Rico which is a u. s. territory is in fact more like a US colony he called it. An undignified relationship because you, know congress basically dictating policy he said without the islands consent on the other, hand the members of this oversight board some of. Whom are from Puerto Rico others. From the mainland US they welcomed the ruling and they said it, was time for the governor to begin. Implementing these cuts and austerity reforms to get Puerto Rico back. On on the right. Track so, what does it mean then I mean if you consider the fact that now the democratically elected government their. Their their power and control over Puerto Rico has been curtailed what does that mean for regular. Folks that's absolutely right what you just said it also means that for regular folks they can expect more cuts to services benefits even pensions some of these cuts have. Already, begun to public education the health benefits and we're talking about, an island where through where half of the, population lives in poverty in these, cuts Unconvicted, to slice pretty deep
