"But i found other reports said that there is still professional searching at least two weeks from the disappearance. Just like a scaled-down we see here. Were like you're well. Beyond the survivability point scaling down but continue looking yeah and the family continued to search even after the official search was over so and actually a bit of good news on the seventeenth according to nbc. Seven from san diego An unknown benefactor donated a search and rescue dog to the community of san felipe to initially help search for cat and then the community could keep the dog for any future disappearances. So that's pretty cool. I couldn't find out who donated the dog. I'm guessing might have been another search and rescue team in the us so moving onto the twenty seventh of two thousand nineteen. We have another post by her husband. So i'm just gonna.

"So that's kind of some basic information on cat. And i'm just going to jump right into the timeline. So this timeline is. There wasn't a lot of official information on what happened. There was quite a few posts from her husband on facebook. That i was able to find and i'll mix some of his statements into The timeline and i also do have another file here. That i'm not gonna read the whole thing. 'cause it's pretty long but i will mix in some summarize it. Yeah so her husband actually provided a very detailed account of what happened that day and we can even go into some of that at the end of the episode so like we said she went missing on a april eleventh twenty nineteen. She was hiking. Your san felipe mexico with a group of hikers when she allegedly a hurt her foot and ankle about ten minutes into the hike so based on some of the reports i saw she was only about three fourths of a mile down the trail. So you know not even that long. We're talking maybe you know. What's three quarters of my on your hiking. It's not far like twenty minutes. Yeah it's if With with her foot maybe she even slower. Maybe half hour forty five minutes. Let's let's be real conservative with. Yeah so You know people that were hiking with her described that the injury didn't seem serious. She wasn't like screaming in pain or anything like that and she could still put some weight on her ankle. So it wasn't something like a compound fracture something like that but it was evident that she couldn't walk any further so she told the group she was hiking with. I'm going to you know. Sit down here want you guys continue on the trail and this trail eventually led to a waterfall. And it's not a very long drill. If i think it's like to say forty five minutes to the end where cat sat down it one way in one way out. It's not a loop. Okay so like we said she was hiking with her dog. Tootsie which was a german shepherd which i found a picture of and she was also hiking with her husband though. The husband actually stayed back at the car on this hike her daughter and then a group of other hikers that from what i gathered. She knew so they weren't just random people. Okay it's like people. She was friends within the town. Yep people she knew yes and her husband or husband's stayed at the car the whole time yes. The rest of the group went on. She sat down after ten minutes or three quarters of a mile. Yup and i'm just gonna wait here. Picking up yes. Okay and the husband is alive and well husbands alive to the stays. You pose a gist yesterday on facebook. Okay i'm just trying to like think of my head like i'm picturing the scene of like okay. We've people on both sides of her. Yeah in the trails. Well marked yup. Okay keep going. So the people hiking with our described as being in good spirits and not showing any undue duress. She was city happily upon a boulder near a creek and they. I think some of the people tried to stay with her and she's like no no go off. Come on. i'll be fine. You guys will be back in ninety minutes so all. The hikers that with her had no reason to think there is anything to worry about. Now i always have an issue with this. I don't like to leave someone. That's injured by themselves no matter what the injuries we've had that happen before different hikes we've been on. Usually one of us will stick back with the injured person. Yeah or at least take their gear and help them get down the trail. I did not comfortable leaving especially someone.

"We're going to have another update at 9 30 breaking news as it happens, I'm Nikki Courtney on Houston's news, weather and Traffic station news radio. 7 40. Katie, Are you talking about that Lamborghini? Stolen vehicle thing to Lamborghinis. We believe a lot of us appear that there was a stolen like this in Lamborghini or a Maserati, right in between these two buildings. How many weeks ago? A couple weeks ago. We're in a couple of high rise office is off of the gallery just south of San Felipe. A sample But there was like an orange Lamborghini wasn't a Lambo. Yeah, it was really It was abandoned out here. Now, if he hears our logic ready, OK, This is us talking boys talking around when the car was abandoned, like four in the morning. If it was yours. You would probably turn on the Flashers or if it is yours, And you really own that Lamborghini. You would call record on your own. Protect that baby Who would just abandon it right there turns out of probably out of gas, too. So we think somebody took it on a joy ride left it right here. And you're not just talking about your dad being an engineer over thinking Well, we're totally overthinking this. This has nothing do with math, though. This is just, uh we know that this region, you know, you got the party region, the nightlife region. Somebody got Thing, right? Three in the morning and ran out of gas and then just abandon it right here between our two buildings. When you see the news stories about the cars drag racing on Westheimer were right in that area. Yes, we are. I just thought I'd throw that out because we keep right of Lamborghini. I could keep them thinking about the orange abandoned Lamborghini. When the buildings is like when our buddy James Simpson's post was hilarious about that said, Hey, if you're missing your Lambo that I think we found All right, let's get serious and talk about Brinkman quality roofing services. "The dumber was his debut last summer, spurning and then big maiden when the fall made at Santa Anita. Was just. Has, had the look of a horse was just GonNa get better with. Distance and time and Nice to see him, step up like. The looks like he had the potential to do last Saturday and get a career-best buyer. What Oh to was only his fourth start, and you'd think that going out to a mile and a quarter is going to suit them even more than a mile a day, so. he's really touted themselves just. Gorgeous owners, just really good-looking horse. Races well and thought his comeback in the San Felipe Bay was. An ideal setup. I didn't think it was GONNA take him three months. To run the second time of the year, but there's a lot of things have an expected this year, but Really like win and and looking forward to seeing what he can do over the next few months. And, you know given given the time involved Jay and not that not that any number of of horsemen that we bring up. couldn't benefit from the time, but certainly John Sheriff's with A. You know with a calendar in front of him and plotting things that you know to to get to a on arrival point. He's got to be among. The Best at at you know. That kind of a circumstance. Very much, so, but I I honestly think even if the Derby held on its original date, the source would have been right ready, then as well You know you'd have the good comeback in the sand fully bay sanity the Derby Been On. April the fourth, I'm sure he would have acquitted himself well, and then got onto the Derby on May, the second and and run while there, too, but the extra time this. Is Not going to. Jeopardize you know. What John Sheriff's does, he's he's top-class horsemen and he's. Done a great job over the years so many horses and he's showing it again here with the skill that he's got with with this source.

San Felipe, Santa Anita Handicap

"All right here we go. We're back on racing down today. Episode Number Fifty. We got a lot of stuff to get to today. Three fifty three fifty point preparations on the docket for this week. In one hundred Fifty Kentucky Derby points up for grabs three more horses will be on their way to Churchill. Downs weekend. There's also a bunch of other stakes around the country this weekend most notably the grade. Santa Anita Handicap. So we'll get to all those book. I we gotta get to the action from this past weekend in Saudi Arabia and the conversation is coming up at. I've seen it come up in multiple different areas is about the winner of the Saudi. Maximum Security You know that is probably the most the Kentucky Derby incident and you know. I'M NOT GONNA come on here and you know say that the Saudi Cup has anything to do with the decision that was made at Churchill. Downs or anything like that or argue that the disqualification now because he's one twenty million dollars. Saudi Cup shouldn't happen I I am not gonNA come on here. Make that argument I just off you know really looking at it. It's unfortunate that happened because maximum security is really just such a tough horse. And you know there's not enough good things you can say about maximum security and you know that raise really showed that maximum security is one of the best horses in the world and obviously right now. The leader of the pack in the United States for older horse. Right now and be really cool to see this horse competing for your old year and you know depending on where he goes from here. Obviously you know. They already mentioned that. He's not going to Dubai. But just where MAC security goes from. Here I'm excited to see that. And what he has in store you know. I'm sure Eric will have some of his things. Say about maximum security. But that's something not lost museum. Fortunate -ness of the disqualification at the Kentucky Derby. Because you know this is a really really fantastic horse for sure. I mean he's slowly and steadily starting to shed that tag of being the Horse Sector disqualified from the Kentucky Derby even though it will always remember that way. If you were to continue what you did last weekend easily going to be more remembered as one of the better horses heading into this decade in this early part of the century the obviously he's now ten million dollars in earnings in at this stage career. It's only getting go go higher. It'll be interesting to see where he gets brought back. I met in. Saratoga is kind of the midseason point. Four the connections there But honestly I think he's already cemented. His legacy added great horse. Just you know like cigar did way back when of when he won the inaugural Dubai World Cup. Maximum security is going to be able to say the same thing for the Saudi Cup where he'd be a really good group of Horses. I might add Definitely was not lighten any sense I think every horse for the most part Ranta form in the Saudi Cub ibew. Probably the biggest surprise people contend but definitely not be By a quarter of a lengthy Iran. Huge She's also in so many other horses from the race but maximum security Kind of a rough trip was definitely a target especially for teas on Mutual Gustavo. Louisa has had to get created down the stretch. But you work down in that. Horses has tons and tons of heart. I don't really know I've seen a horse. Who Does Not WanNa let him worse by like maximum security does. It's quite impressive. How this works bears down to every time he races and I just think I I I think we all know. He's in pre twenty twenty if he stays healthy yeah. That was another thing that I didn't quite get that opening. Bid Is the fact that you know. Maximum security did all that won the race while Iran Ortiz was basically writing interference. I made the comment to Eric Baxter. Excuse jokers still out there kind of looked like a NASCAR and now you can say all you want about. How you know. Probably wasn't the best rider. You didn't have good character of Iraqis. I thought it was a good strategy on his part to do what he could to be. Maximum security obviously probably definitely in this country If he would probably would have been disqualified but I thought it was good on his part to do his best to win. Win The race. And try to keep maximum-security away because I don't think I if you run that race normally maximum-security just goes by with the rules over there. They run category One rules which unlike in America the disqualification rules are if you preventing a worse from running their best race. You get disqualified. There is. That's worse when when you run interference or not so if mutual Gustavo Iraqis does dat but the horse wins by Lincoln half. It's not a problem. Give what was within the rules so it was a good ride? Bhai Iran It was definitely a little malicious. I certainly Jason Service not lease with IRA. Teaser was on the first things. He made a comment about after the race. In the in an interview shortly after On national television I might add But at the same time that's I mean the races aren't one you know like a track meet where you can necessarily go between the lane. This horse racing and that kind of stuff can fly to an extent maybe a little over the edge. I think especially when acting security job inside. I really started to hurt an inside but I was happy that I read never intentionally drew contact although he was doing some blocking like you said NASCAR ask He never intended to make contact which I think was probably the safest thing and when he when he knew the horses about to go by he kind of backed off on trying to get through so are running more interference so while maybe was maybe a little militias It definitely was good race riding on his part all right so that. That's it for this stuff with the Saudi Cup Stripping back over Cross sees out before we get to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks preparations that you want to highlight a Horse Zulu al folk who is turning into his own. You know I will highlight at about this point last year. This is were bricks and more bricks and mortar was not not saying that Zulu Alpha is going to be the next bricks mortar. Or anything like that. But you know he could do similar things to where it's very likely he's going to do similar things to what bricks and mortar didn't very likely that this is probably the top tier force in the United States. This year. You know at this point last year. Bricks and mortar was a great one Winnipeg World Cup turf and and then he had a great to race. I believe it was either at fairgrounds are one of the tracks Louisiana so to this point Zulu Alpha grade one winner Pegasus World Cup turf now. He's agreed to winner The Mac Ramadan down at Gulfstream. This past weekend. I think Zulu Alpha's in for a really strong really really strong two thousand twenty Keep your eye on him. Come for race like the turf classic the Kentucky Derby Undercard. That's where I would him go but not saying Zulu Alpha is an expert in order. But I'm not saying that he isn't either into Rena. Bricks and mortar was able to have consistent success last year is because all the worst is behind him weren't consistent. I mentioned on the show last week. That Group of forces that Zulu Alpa was facing. He actually used to be a part of that group they never were able to consistently put together strong back. That rates it's bricks. Mortar took it to a new level. Easily able to string together back Multiple consecutive good races in a row. And that's what God in his horse of the year title. And if these keep going the weather going is do. The wealth is going to be able to do the same thing last year Even though I was Kinda surprised after neier introduced the Turks Trinity Series that no horse really emerged from that as premier career force and to be chair. I mean we see that with Dirt horses as well on the on the Derby trail. They don't always shape out after the triple crown trail to be good and that kind of creates inconsistencies in the handicapped division like we saw maybe back Towards the end of maybe before the end of two thousand seventeen that you're got stronger as it went on but nevertheless China look into Alpa. Maybe like an expert in order. I wouldn't be surprised because once again the turf division isn't strong and If I'm going to throw one out there vitality is probably the best grass three year old male out there And I know. The connections are keen. Distract him out so he could be wanted content we know. He has loads talent. So at this point Zulu Alpha is primed at least stay home maleter force because so far. There are no challengers within a mile oven.

Porpoises On The Brink Of Extinction Face Daunting Odds For Survival

"Marine Mammal is on the verge of extinction in Mexico's Gulf of California. Conservationists have been trying to save the the Keita Porpoise for years but that work has been complicated by the nets and even drug cartels from Arizona public media in Tucson area Brosius reports seafood restaurants. Colorful mosaics line. The Boardwalk in downtown San Felipe pay fishing is a mainstay of the small northern Mexico. Town love I keep. The restaurant is just a couple blocks over a framed photo of the little porpoise that could be. The town's mascot hangs in the office of Ramon Franco the as head of a local fishermen cooperative representing about five hundred and seventy families is sending. Well it though this earth announced that animal as you must know only lives here in this area and it's ours belongs to us. Mexicans for decades of akitas population has been declining as fishermen inadvertently catch them while pursuing fish and shrimp but dea says many local fishermen treasure the animal when it rises above the water with its characteristic. Black rimmed is he says That causes those do those. It's as if it was smiling with you. So real fishermen don't WanNa harm them. It's the opposite in the last few decades. Mexico has established of Akita Refuge and backed research into the species but lately the number of Akita has plummeted around just a dozen or less as poaching for another endangered fish called. The Toba has ramped up. Fishermen use large Gill Nets to trap the toe to Wada. Which also killed Akita in two thousand fifteen Mexico's then president banned Gill Nets in the Vicki habitat increased enforcement against poaching and started paying fishermen not to work so the species could recover. This little sanitizer came to an agreement that we would leave the sea so that the federal government clean up the illegal boats but Diaz says enforcement was insufficient. Problem got worse. He says he's filed numerous complaints with the government to no avail then a year ago. The payments fishermen stopped those. Odi The liberal Emma. So now we have a serious problem. Because we don't have a fishing practice that is permitted. And we also don't have any compensation. Last September Diaz announced his fisherman had no option but to return to the sea to support their families. He says two thousand eighteen. Us Ban Mexican seafood caught with Gillnets has only made life harder for legal fishermen. Mexico missed an opportunity to be a world leader in shifting a fishery over from Gillnets to alternative gear. Barbara Taylor is marine conservation biologist with the US government who studied the Makita for thirty years. She says the Gillnet Ban wasn't very effective. Because some fishermen hurting financially were tempted into the illegal Totowa Trade F- Iquitos and Gill Nets are completely incompatible. And the fishermen needed to be able to make a living and so developing alternative fishing methods. Were really the only way for Bikita. Survive Louise Mendosa is working on it in his centrally bay office. He pulls a large thin strand net from a milk crate. Wait to the bottom. He's a member of pesca obeys. Say A small nonprofit group of fishermen working with the Mexican government to test alternative driftnets like this one called suit. Peta for this war with the current only with but Mendoza says using these nets can be nearly impossible because of the sheer number of illegal gill nets under the waves. He says even though it's cheaper it will be hard to convince fishermen to use it. They've become very effective. The Gill Nets and with this kind of equipment. You have to get money. The Keita Researcher Barbara Taylor says Mexico needs to support legal fishing if alternative nets prove less profitable and crackdown on poaching. Akitas prime habitat. She still has hope for the species but there are fewer of Akiba every year though. Two of poaching is rampant because the fishes swim bladder is highly prized in China. As a medicinal food. Because there's a little money is more money than drugs. I mean we're talking about twenty thousand dollars twenty five dollars for one soon blind. Jp Geoffroy leads the Conservation Group Sea Shepherd's Makita protection efforts. He says that money has attracted international drug cartels and during high season there can be dozens of boats fishing illegally inside the Vicki to refuge for the last five years sea shepherd has been working with some local fishermen to collect Gill Nets. Trying give the species a fighting chance to recover important. Centrally Bay Crew Members. Use a hook to move huge bags of fishing gear. They've pulled from the ocean. All these boxes contain all Guinea. Gotten it that way we move from riveted by Kedah not all local support sea shepherd's work recently suspected poachers fired shots at a sea. Shepherd vessel in the Makita refuge despite that tension. Geoffroy says they support local fishermen who just want to do their job. We are just trying to work with them and explain to them to. At least respect the small rectangle release the critical area. Geoffroy says if they can just protect the remaining Makita the species can recover but for now observers. Say there's little evidence that current efforts to stop poaching will be enough for NPR news. I'm Arianna Brosius.

"That how quick are they actually going to be like I've been around you like I've, I've picked your brain on the side to get faster and things like that. But like it's crazy. How quick you've gotten obviously you've got an amazing team behind you. But man, I mean it's I think with these last two races and how close they been? I think whenever you do finally cross that finish line. First Sarah, it's gonna even mean that much more because you've been so close for two races. Now. And I know this is our third second place in our second one this year. We're like, are you serious such a tease? We just don't have Lynn. But we, we've been putting her head down in, you know, like the most random things happen in San Felipe bay. We had to pit two more times than the first person. And so that kinda put us down on time, and I think that's what this, the second place. 'cause we finished, I think in four six minutes from the leader. And then in this race we finished in four minutes from the leader. And we had a four minute penalty from feed zone, which, you know, happens, and, yeah, it was it's pretty nut, because that is a long race to be that close at the finish line. And we moved in the first place pretty fast. We, we took off and second and third, we got to do side-by-side start in the short course we got the whole shot. So you're in second after I that mile, I would say ten or twenty. And then we're leading and got a flat race, mile seventy and we'd get off the change. It and our Jack failed on us. He couldn't get the truck stuff in. It wasn't taking any pressure. I could put you down with my hand, and so I was like, oh, no. What are we going to do? So we, we had to drive ten miles on a flat tire. We kept talking Roco to see if they had Jackson..

"That, you know, keep staying on the same track keep believing in yourself and your team and and keep working hard and never give up because because good things will happen. Well, and I know, you know, obviously, you get some momentum in your favor right now. What's what's the schedule? It like this year anti I'm assuming the rest of the sqaure sources and possibly Vegas Torino. Yeah. I think I think just the rest of the score is is you know, there's three more starting with the five hundred in the September Lucerne race, the four hundred Tanada, and then the Baldwin thousand you know, with with the draw order nowadays of how scores doing it. I think that's why you saw a lot of entries San Felipe bay is if because how you finish San Felipe had you start the five hundred. Yeah. And then how you and then Lucerne this raises another random draw. And then how you finish that race is how you start the ball without. And so you're kinda committed to a full score series. If you wanna have a shot at winning the one hundred of the ball thousand which most of the top as do, you know, which I actually I actually kinda pre shaking kinda like because I love racing involve. That's where that's where that's where I started racing. That's where I grew up driving and to have to have a lot of the top guys, you know, in contention going for a championship. I think it will really be a true testament to who really wins the championship. And divert deserves a championship on all the big guys are going after it. So I think it's going to be I think it's going to be interesting to see how the year unfolds. It's to kind of fun at throws. I think throws just a little bit different strategy into the game this year. And that's one thing, you know, offroad we run, you know, a lot of the same tracks year after year. So anything we can do to shake it up. You know, something like this. Like, you said, I think there's just a little added element was score this year, you know, some a little bit different. It's gonna be interesting. See how plays out I think. So. And I think it started. You know, they set the stage of San Felipe a and and doing a much longer course and more difficult and some newer sections. And I had I had a lot of fun. I mean, I was telling everyone even if even if we didn't end up winning. It was so much fun driving. That course, and you know, from the San washes to the mountains to the desert's, you know, back to finishing right on the beach of the Malakand San Felipe bay. It was it was really cool really brought back old Memories meme. of of when I used to go down and racing Baja and March my dad racing Baja. It was really a lot of fun. Yeah. Well, for let you go one last question Mathoma wash man, I know we were getting all kinds of reports out of it. You know, I've been down there there when it's been pretty bad. But it seems like this year it was kinda like next level bad. You know, it was what made it challenging normally when we raise sample EPA. We always go from west to east down so down Mattamy wash. Yeah. That's it. It's been down at. Yeah. And so this year, you know, going up at you know, in itself a challenge it's very soft wash. It gets probably the most rain and wash in and, you know, the most water flows through Matome e and we've seen the most changed through Mattamy over the years when those now get a lot of rain just goes right down Matome. Ian, floods it out all the way down to the beach. So you know, that that creates tons of rocks everywhere and really really soft sand. And then it exposes.

"Thing. Okay. You know? I don't wanna crash again because we have tyrod that's bad or about to break off. And so after about ten miles I kind of started picking up the pace again. And just said, you know, what screw probably lost three or four or five minutes there. We might still be close on time. Let's just was just keep pushing and see what happens. Man. That's that's wild. So, you know, and I know this while, you know, and I know this one, you know, you talk about pushing this was an interesting one because I've raced sampling based before where they call to fifteen it's actually only like two hundred ten miles, and they're like odd student this one complete opposite. And this one was like one of the longest sleep as ever. And I know those ones are like two hundred miles geyser finishing like three and a half four hours. Like, it's a full honor. I mean, it's like like we're talking about racing Laughlin. You don't have time for anything. You know? It's like a short course race, but you know, house approach different on this one. It was I knew the course was difficult right because San Felipe in general just going through, you know, the gnarliest woods, you can imagine for two hundred and forty fifty miles. You know, there's some San wash that breaks that up, but even those after period start to get really chewed up. I knew it was gonna be a grueling course in. I knew that you know, you had to play it smart and keep your truck underneath you, which you know, I did for most of the race except for one short little section where I rolled it. But, but yeah, I knew that it was gonna come down to who can keep you know, who can keep a clean truck who can make it to the finish. And be smart and not making mistakes, welcoming my mistake. You know didn't cost me the race. And I think you know, definitely some luck on my side. But it was it was really interesting, and I actually really liked it. Because there's a lot more variable train going up over the summit, you know, across the the. High desert. They're gonna Salata lots of different types of terrain. And the longer course, I think I really enjoyed it. You know, I I don't I don't like a true sprint sprint race where it's just metal. And see who's got the biggest Konate and can hold it wide open through the section for the longest time. You can make it through. I like the. I like I like an enjoy the the mental aspect and the mental challenge of of racing Baja and and trying to be smarter than your competitors and trying to be smarter than the course. And and not letting the course beat you. But picking your spots where you're gonna go fast where you're gonna go slow and just kinda sticking to that game plan, and and not let anything get to you know, my role over even though we rolled I still stuff to my same game plan. You know, right after I rolled which was gonna push to thirty. And just hold on. And see what happens and it crazily it worked out. Well, this one's gonna feel pretty gratifying because it's been what it's been over a decade since you've wanted San Felipe, right? Yeah. I've never one simple. Leaping truck. I got in two thousand four I my first relief AI finished second cross one to my uncle by one second. And then in two thousand five that one hurt and then in two thousand five my dad, and I wanted overall in a class one car, we set the fastest average speed for the course, ever like sixty three and a half miles an hour, which is bliss our very like two hundred and forty miles. Yeah. That's crazy. Fast for San Felipe..

"Four wheel parts RPM road enterprises. Sixty one hundred. I know I totally to talk to me at person and will like all over the place, and it's really hard to like get me to say a sentence correctly. And then you put me in an interview in. It's like everything comes out perfect now, Mike how does this happen? I just do the normal life. That was so like the start of that was not the Sarah. I know. We got stop reverse it. We're yeah. I should just start making everybody at night. And then doing the we need to do a nighttime with cocktails, and then that's how you're going to get them. The the real story like none of that content. We could actually probably air. No give you that. What you said last night you want me to replay. Or we could just get a dump button. And just do like the mute doodoo say come back. You guys really wish you could have heard what we just said. There you go. That would be perfect. But no, call was awesome. We we ended up doing six which is great for us. And yeah, we're in a really good position. We're starting third now which would be like double off the line. So. Yeah. Third starting sixty one hundred's just a crazy stacked class like to me. Like starting third is starting I like your up at the front. You're not going to have to work your way through too much traffic. And honestly the goal is to work through the traffic. I think I'm just gonna my goals to stay where I'm at for at least the first lap or two. And then kinda see who's still standing to kind of pick it up some at the last bit the last two laps this race. Like, it's like the first lap. Just almost like you phone it in. It's like you just get through it flat. Like just don't do something dumb. Yeah. It'd been a second you pick up the pace because people drop out like drop like flies race into the third lappy. Like, oh, I got a truck left. Let's go race. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. That's what exactly we're trying to do to just keep it together. Really? I never been on. This course. So I'm just kind of like, well, I didn't know you hadn't been around their scores. No. I never been on the mentors. It's brutal. Everyone says and I'm like, okay. Well, we'll see we'll see what happens party is like its rough and rough isn't bad you've been safely. Visit love San Felipe pay though. I mean this awesome, truck like Philippe as at dream for me. Because it's like I never thought I could go through. Whoops, like this. And I'm like going ninety through a whoop section. And I like I remember leaving his sample EBay being like guys. I just want to tell you. I'm going ninety right now over the whoops is coolest time my life..

"And so that's the timing of what how to do that comes into play, especially if you don't go in the San Felipe a and pollen gophers already Instagram for the San Felipe bay and the owners of Galloway and West Point they've got gun metal grey. So they've just need to figure out how to split I think all those horses up and find the best spots for them. And I would think gun metal grey, for instance, would be perfect to go to Louisiana with the long stretch there. He's just a long stretch running cold. I just think that would be kind of the appropriate place for him. And then maybe a slot Galloway into the someone derby Instagram stays home, that's sort of. That's just educated guess as to what what might happen. Well, and stay on on this theme. Jay and kind of touch on some of the movement in the the derby watch as we start to look forward to upcoming events, including what looks to be a really important running of the fountain of youth made. It's always it's always a major stop toward the Florida derby. But there's going to be some heartbreak the after this fountain next week, right? So the terms of thing for the additions, we country house and Galloway network affect is off the trail. So we. He came off the with. And so did Dale was for me the disappointment in the risen star? I thought he was the second stores going into the race behind or will. And he just he just didn't run. Well at all. So we took him off those are the two that came out as you mentioned..

"I mean. Always dream any swept both starts at Oaklawn America. I'm sorry. He won American pharaoh swift. Both starts at Oakland. But California chrome won both races. At Santa Anita or both races at Gulfstream. So you'll see horses like, you know, they might not win three preps. But they'll win at least two at a certain venue all the time. Yeah. You know, I guess Nyquist would maybe be the outlier, but he shipped to trace that bonus basic tripton had, but you know, before always dreaming noca- Pletcher he had super saver that. He he shipped Arkansas. So, you know, I think before the point system, it seemed like guys were willing to, you know, play shell game a little bit and just kind of go what made sense with a horse at the time. Not that they still wouldn't do that. I don't mean to say they're not going to do with the Hort. And now, it just seems like they're they're more committed and agree with you. That's not by any means limited fairgrounds. Right. And right now the trend for especially win in the derby is just I mean, we've had seven years in a row where the the winner has won all of his three-year-old prep. So right. Yeah. And is the favorite so. The last six with the favorite so right? Yeah. It'll be interesting to see which one of those are maybe both. I guess ultimately falls. Another call scary in Louisville. So in the Commonwealth now, Gary how are you? They got doing doing that too bad. Are you I'm doing well, here's the here's my question. I saw the news reports from California that Bob was gonna keep both game winner and improbable out there for the San Felipe as that a hint of weakness in game winter is that confidence and improbable that timing that race with Instagram and and kind of coast horses into shaping up. Really, well, but I can't really get read into live. Bob would make that decision. When in many years, Pat, he's chosen the split up, and in particular, the Arkansas around so just trying to get a feel for kind of how you guys read into that. Yeah. Great question. Thanks for the call area. I was actually kinda surprised Jane's be interested in what you think. I have two thoughts. One is we've seen Baffert and some years willing to basically go. Oh, all in on the horse. He thinks is better. So he might just feel like that's what we're gonna find out in the San Felipe Alon Kinsey and justify last year. Not that they faced each other. But just had the feel when MacKenzie was done that he just was putting all his eggs in the justify basket or number two..

"I remember Gary Jones who would would go running down to the rail. I would be standing with Jerry Jones that he'd go. You know, we'd be talking and he'd have his stop watching his hand. And we'd be sitting in standing in front of the grandstand, and like Lakeway or somebody who would be working, and they get to the top of the stretch and Jones would say, oh, she's going to fast or she's going to slow at he'd run right down to the rail and start yelling at the writer waiting his arms, and certainly may came up with a better plan than than that in terms of being able to talk to these guys because you know, especially when you're close to race boy, the work get screwed up. I mean that can really impact the performance in the race. So. Like, I say that forty six in change I thought, wow, what is going on there? And my suspicions were confirmed that it wasn't what mcpeek was looking for in terms of that it was too fast. But like I say we got plenty of time to use. Oh, that's not not the end of the world there for him. But so I thought that brighter him in per Muto Gustavo I thought that really flattered improbable because while Muccio goose does a very nice Colt, and he's a mutual macho man, so he's gonna I don't think distance is a problem for him. And remember Mutuel macho man was a June Foale, and he was kind of a late Newmar? He won the Breeders Cup Laden classic Laden his life. And so I think we're only scratching the surface here with this mutual Gustavo. But at this point when he ran against him, probably in the Los Alameda territory. I mean, it was no contest probable just drilled him. So, you know, Mutuel Gustavo to me at this point is got the, you know, continue to move forward to catch up. To improbable. And and I mean Bamford sitting there with game winner and improbable over there. I mean, you talk about a powerful one two punch in my book. I mean that ad is extremely strong, and then Instagram has really coming along here very nicely. I was wondering about the San vicinty is a possibility for him, and it so it was interesting when Bamford told you that yesterday or yet yesterday that he said that, you know, maybe he'll show up there. So you can that shows the respect that Baffert has for Instagram that he's watching him that closely. And boy you remember back to those two wins last summer by Instagram. We're just breathtaking really I thought so whether or not he shows up in the same Sinti, I've heard, you know, through the grapevine that they're looking for the San Felipe bay. So, you know, whether he pops up in that same vicinity, I don't know. But boy if it turn. Turns out that Instagram mixes two thousand nineteen debut in the San Felipe a on in early March. That's on March the look at the calendar March ninth and game-winners pointing for that race, man. What are what a race that would be? If you had both the defeated game winner in the end defeated instrument and in that race both of the making the first of the year. So we'll have to see if that turns out to be the case or maybe this Instagram does show up in the same sentence for Hollander improbable looking apparently toward the rebel possibly right now as the as the as the goal John let me finish up get Jeremy Plotkin here for countdown to the crown. I appreciate it. And we'll talk to you from Vegas on Monday. Certains goodbye, by the way, one quick thing. I wanted to say listening to mcpeek yesterday. I heard a name ahead and heard a long time auto Draper, and I went. Wow. I don't Draper's assistant for mcpeek.
