Marty Schottenheimer, NFL coach with 200 wins, dies at 77

"So james some sad news in the nfl coaching world. If you're of a certain vintage you'll remember the name marty schottenheimer. He was a coach starting with the new york giants back in seventy five when he was their linebackers coach and kept coaching right up until two thousand six with the san diego chargers. He was a head coach in kansas city. Washington san diego. But i remember most with cleveland browns head coach in the mid eighties for them when they got. Oh so close to a super bowl. Berth in the afc title game. They're about to beat denver. They're about to go in for the winning touchdown in the final minute of the game and earnest byner get stripped just as he's about to step into the end zone offload jeremiah casteel. Dist reached in grabbed the ball off byner denver recovers and they hold on for thirty eight to thirty three win. And that was. It's called the fumble. If you say that in cleveland people know the fumble ohio and The brown had no shortage in sports of disappointments. So that would be one of them. When you say the fumble people know exactly what you're talking about and really gives until the cavaliers finally when an nba title really lent itself to the lovable loser. Tag that cleveland. Sports fans have had for many years but marty schottenheimer Certainly had lots and lots of success. I think he was like fourth all time as far as coaching winds. Go so sad news to hear his passing today at the age of seventy

Will Dak Prescott Sign A Long Term Deal With The Dallas Cowboys?

"Prescott. There is two hours and fifty one minutes left until Dak, Prescott, and Dallas Cowboys can work in extension if not he will be under the franchise tag for the next season earning himself thirty one point four million dollars guaranteed. With the potential chance I, guess up after this season or get franchise tag again. He is now the third quarterback in the history of franchise tags and the NFL to play on the franchise tag. If that happens obviously before after four o'clock drew brees that it what the San Diego chargers. He leaves Don Kirk cousins, does it? What The Washington redskins twice? He leaves town, so history says Dak Prescott will play. This franchise tag may be getting again even but not in Dallas Cowboy long-term. If Your Dad, how do you feel? Do you pumped about thirty one point? Four million dollars guaranteed because if I'm looking at that piece of paper I'm like fucking here we go. Yeah. He's got to be torn. I would imagine I'm sure you're excited. Okay? I'm going to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys for another year. MC, thirty one million guaranteed, but he doesn't feel like he has that long term security that he wants from the team. McKay. You think I'm your guy. You're willing to pay thirty one MIL for one year. Why doesn't that don't you think you should give me five six year extension and give me big time money for down the road? That's where he's gotTA. Be Thinking, but so if he doesn't do it today though. He will become a free agent. When the League year starts next March right now after the season they can negotiate. There's another window after the season before free agency to work a long term deal. I actually had that happened after I got franchise tag the day before free agency, we worked a five year deal or four year deal, so I never hit the market, but I was franchise tag the year before, so they could still potentially do that, but I guess I five year deal was offered to Prescott. Numerous Times but DAK wants a four year deal. Cowboys won a five year deal and we've been told by everybody around the cowboys and that knows the organization that that is literally. The only holdup is a one year difference so that's very interesting to me because it feels like there's it's much bigger than just a one year difference there. Thirty three to thirty five million dollars offered with over one hundred million dollars guaranteed, so if you look at that, they know that the cowboys won a five year deal that means three years of that deal was guaranteed. The other two were not locked in for five years as opposed to attack once for four, so everybody's assuming he's going to sign that deal. They're not going to get a deal done, but it's interesting because. He could potentially get thirty seven point four or something next year if he gets franchise tag thirty seven point nine if he gets franchise tag again I, don't see them running into the situation next free agency. I don't. There's no way that the franchise tagging him again they would. You would think they get the deal done I think that they're trying to see if he and Mike McCarthy going to work, I honestly believe that I think there's now granted. They made him one hundred million dollar guarantee already, so maybe I'm wrong in thinking

Los Angeles: QB Philip Rivers To Leave Chargers, Enter Free Agency:

"The Philip rivers thing is really interesting because there's a whole bunch of things going on number one. The chargers need to find a new quarterback. The chargers need to find somebody to kind of become their guy here in this city. Philip rivers is may or may not play again where does he go and and then there's just the totality of Philip rivers career at this point. He's I think he's going to get in the hall of fame. Because it feels like good quarterbacks get into the hall of fame but he his career is a little bit of a mixed bag because he's the numbers are great. They've won a bunch of games but they've never been to the Super Bowl. I think they've only been in the AFC championship the game. Once in his career he played a long time he sees it one of those. It's really really nice and this is the thing about La. I know allies career is is a mixed bag to but there are two super bowl. Wins in that thing. There's a bunch of Nice long play offerings. Philip rivers has really never had that. I'm wondering if he's low key odor. The Matt Stafford met staffer when he does say goodbye is going to have some healthy numbers. And he's not going to have very much postseason success. And he's GonNa kind of be a guy and I know that doesn't sound like a good thing to say about Philip rivers because he's had occurred as better better than Stafford but the reality is that he's going to be remembered in the same grouping as Matt Stafford big numbers. No postseason success. Yeah you think about it. I mean ah you. Let's do the game real quick. Best Charger quarterback rivers is not Dan. Fouts Philip Rivers for me like Dan. fouts is still the guy that oh I think of when just off the top of my head and Philip Rivers has had a really nice career but he to me and make me. I mean you said Philip Rivers I but to me. It's still Dan fouts. Stan Humphries freeze is not the best quarterback in charge. He's not going to the super bowl super bowl so it's not the best ever which I think fouts is that guy and if you're not the guy that took him to the Super Bowl who are where are you in this whole thing and oh by the way. There's this whole element which absolutely sucks Philip rivers. I'm not a charger fan. I'm not not necessarily a Philip rivers fan but it sucks that they're the dude is homeless in a football sense and I'm not talking about where he goes with. Its indie or Miami or Tampa. He doesn't belong belong to anybody anymore because the chargers came to La Nobody in La Cares about Philip rivers as a football player. We don't have any history with him. We don't have any great. I remember seeing Filbert's do x Y and Z people. People Sandiego certainly do lay there anymore. And he doesn't even play for that team anymore. He's down the road. So who does he belong to at this point. He belongs to the San Diego chargers which don't exist anymore lousy guy that's had that career should have a home forever and he won't

"He is healthy cleared to go almost everyone on the team ready to go for this one said, San Diego Chargers is of course, we'll say Angeles chargers. This team make keeps going especially if they make it to the Super Bowl. If people are just going to be. Nobody's going to be able to get in. It's crazy. All right. So they talked about health chargers. Meantime, had to go back and forth across the country. Which no matter how great the flights are miss still gotta take it's toll so Tenny. Let's start with this. The patriots pass rush. Thirty second lowest in the NFL Philip rivers last week against the ravens. I thought he was amazing fighting that pressure. How do you see this play now to get that pressure against a quarterback Susie that you know in Philip rivers? He's going to be right there in the pocket stationery. They're going to have to improve on pick up. No matter what the back is. They were struggling at it against the ravens in the last few weeks often. Here he tries to carry out the fake doesn't worry about the linebacker. You've got a block that linebacker coming up the gap because that's a serious threat to Philip rivers weeks ago. Here's Melvin Gordon thrown off by a pit stunt because the linebackers are up the guard and the back on the same page in Philip rivers goes down again, this is what they do. So well at the. New England Patriots. They have all they have Hightower. They use timing. They blitz. The back. They come fast. They're big strong linebackers very similar to the Baltimore scheme. You got all up on the minor scrimmage. They'll do that to the back midst. The pit misses the pickup this Vanoy just the sack Hightower. You'll see him on a delay blitz. Vanoy? He covers the back this time. But then Hightower a little delay blitz coming around. So these linebackers for the New England Patriots who have struggled getting there with their front for the linebackers have to come up big and attack those backs and pass protection. Right. So let's hit this at each different level and keep an eye on the patriots defensive backs on Sunday. According to next gen stats, powered by AWF, the past -fensive bags breast coverage on thirty five percent of targets eleventh highest in the NFL, but when they rest white out this season they've allowed the fewest yards for attempt and the second fewest hatch rate in the lead Darren the patriots will have to rely on. In their secondary. So why is press coverage because it's about Stefan Gilmore, and it's about getting you off your your route in basically disrupting the timing between the quarterback and wide receiver. Nexgen Jim was still you here as you see Stefan Gilmore up top. We talk about winning at the line of scrimmage. This is how you win the two point eight yards of cushion right now pre snap. You wanna stay over the top Mike Zimmer? He's always coach us this way. Stay over the top. That's the win. You're staying over the top. They can throw the back shoulder Bateman. They're not going to get vertically and make the big play on your. That's it win two point five seven Cousens for the priests that he's got that space, and he will maintain this space controls them with his left hand again got so windy one. At the line of scrimmage now. He's just finishing the playoff. That's what step on Gilmore Pringley. Well, now on the backside sending charges they love it. When you play all nine point nine nine nine yards off right now you wanna play nine yards off. Well, we're gonna do we're gonna double move that. Death out there on the back end because we know you got covered here. Rivers doesn't rate up by time supplemental. That's a long now believing that you weren't even really one of those big situations on the outside that we're seeing next Jay show, you if you're above in your cooking, the on top usually windows, but the big plays come when you start to trail and you're running behind number to support his point chargers wide receivers. Caught fifty percent of their passes in the regular season thrown twenty plus yards downfield..

And then it's just the Saney charges man kids bringing them here in a soon, we're going to embrace him as the fuck in LA chargers. Get that out of my face, man. Then you go somewhere else. "I sit down I happen to a been a big San Diego charger fan. Now, they booked Los Angeles. And I couldn't get season tickets. You know what? Now, I'm glad now I'm glad I couldn't get season tickets because of the what they did. But what I do. And they didn't do it. When I didn't know that they were going to do what they do did do. I wanted to get tickets and the San Diego Chargers said, no such luck. No, you know, no dice no sale. And we talk about San Diego LA when they moved to LA. It's in San either late charges. What did I say? You said the San Diego said San Diego charges. Well, what difference does it make? So where are you able to get season tickets? No, I wasn't able to get season tickets 'cause they sold out. Of the ones that they had. And then I heard that the players were kneeling during the end. But I would good, and I called up the charges the one you know, what I didn't get season tickets. But I'm glad I didn't. And I told mother and mother will attest to this. I said, that's it. I'm boycotting the games. Daddy said he did want to watch it under game until about three weeks. You lasted about two weeks dues me mother. I lasted I haven't. I have not wanted to watch a game ever since the boy got started to game. But I haven't wanted to have we already K Grover. A have you watch the game? It's hard to stay away from the games, especially like that one guy. You were talking about the Steelers are in first place. How do you do that a Larry? I'm not your, mommy. You know, what does that mean? Pushy mother, do you mind go off and win yourself a ice cream cone or something? All right. Thank god. He waved his hand beings. If I was just a bed bed stink from a rhinoceros from a right Menashe in this is well. Larry, you know, you're not a little boy, you can do what you want. Do what I want. That guy. What about the guy who was the Steeler fan? Who's set his stuff on fire? And now the Steelers are in first place. Do you think that guy's still boycotting? No, I don't. But I don't know for sure I haven't I am talking to you though. You guys were very very vocal very very you're strenuous near objections to the players kneeling and protesting airing their protests during the anthem and said, you're gonna Boyce boycott now you guys seem to be back. Now, what do you mean, we seem to be bad? There's everywhere I go people are talking about the NFL in terms of football fans. Anyway, even on the Twitter feeds of people use that boycott NFL hashtag, they're they are talking about the game. So we they're boycotting or they aren't. But I'm looking at boycott, the NFL, and then people talking about as matter of fact, I I haven't seen much of it on your feet. But I do know you've made some mention of it. I made mention of the fact that I enjoy the San Diego Chargers. I mean, the LA chargers, but in protest, I call them the San Diego Chargers as if they never left. Indigo. And then that way San Diego. Pronounce the city. Right. You know, every time I'm on your program. I get my balls, but a Larry we're we're trying to just do. Here's communicate when you say San Diego, we don't if you're talking about the same team about the team that moved to LA. Chargers. No, I refused. The call in the chargers, I'm protesting the chargers based upon the fact that they won't stand up that they don't stand at the anthem. Do you think that this boy cut the NFL protest? If you will do you think that this movement has succeeded?.

"The San Diego Chargers as Broncos game day continues. I think very informative insight there because the big news. This morning is the Joey Bosa is going to play for the Los Angeles. Chargers today for the first time this season as you heard Nick talk about he was injured very early on in training camp. They deemed it to be a foot sprain, which on the surface doesn't sound like that's that big a deal unless it's your foot and you rely on your foot, and you can't explode off your foot. But Nick having had the same injury. The Liz Frank injury, and I was suspicious as well because Broncos country you'll remember there's a few key Broncos that have had that Terrell Davis number one had it after he had his knee problem, which is not surprising. Sometimes you're coming off an ACL surgery or reconstructive knee surgery. You start favoring the other side, and you create injuries on the other side of your body. So not surprising that he had it and kind of contributed to his downfall losing his explosiveness. Ryan Clayton left tackle for the Broncos. Had the lists. Frank injury as well. Extremely dill. Debilitating is the word I'm looking for there to an offensive lineman. Nick said he had the same thing. He played thirty Dan horrific damage to his foot, and it took him almost two years after he had a plate and screws installed inserted in his foot via surgery to come back from Liz Frank injury champ Bailey had Liz Franken lost his explosiveness. So the chargers are smart to keep him under wraps and with kid gloves. So we'll see how he plays today. Coming back from that type of surgery when we come back on Broncos game day,.

"I'm not sure it's hard to say, but he is. He is a player that I would like to add. Absolutely. My last by is Austin Eker. Okay, San Diego Chargers, right. I'll tell you why. He's kind of a very love area. Broad broad. So right now he's like a sometimes flicks player like you can serve them depending on the week because he does getting touches. He does get enough targets and he scores. So as Melvin Gordon's backup, he has put up a lot of points, but this is the reason why you ready for I'm ready bodies. This might be unpopular. Okay. I don't think Melvin Gordon is very good. I don't think he's a product of the offense and a lot of volume, but I don't necessarily all chargers fans. I don't think there's any left. I'm not saying he's bad. I'm just saying, I don't think that he's Todd Gurley or someone that he puts up comparable numbers too. I think that he benefits from egregious. League. And what I'm saying here is that if Melvin Gordon gets injured and he does get hurt, Austin, Ecuador is a top ten wide receiver for the rest of the season. Would you agree with that top ten, ten? I wouldn't put him at top ten for rest of season. Maybe top twenty top ten. He's already talked twenty. I mean, he's already by NC's stay in talk twenty say probably, but I'm saying he's not going to go up to top ten. It's hard for me to find ten running backs that I would like more than awesome network. He was the only running back in that offense, but we'll move onto your last your third and final cell. And I see a popular name that might be an unpopular. I've already talked with this, but Julio Jones is definitely a guy I would consider selling just because he's not getting those touchdowns, but he's like my unpopular opinions sell. Like I'm not saying do it. I'm saying, like, just look at all for she'll get just just take a look. Do you think that he will see some touchdown success or do you to see progress, but he's not? He's not. Obviously right now he is the guy everyone watches and he's getting double covered almost every play. That's why I'm saying, look at Calvin Ridley the guy, the extra guy looking for touchdowns because I would rather take on yardage because he's still getting a lot of guards. He's just not getting Dresden touches who Jones who ios getting so many targets so that it's hard to say he's, but there's so many defenders on them. It's like marines. Relying too much on them. Almost. I think that the falcons are not creative enough in the red zone. They don't find ways to get him open and I'm, I'm holding out hope that they do, but I can see why you would sell them because you don't feel confident that they will be able to figure that part of their game. Again, it's like I'd rather take touchdowns over yards. I'm not saying you need to get rid of him. I'm saying, see what you can get for them if you like it, then I would take it, but just I would definitely look at some offers. Gotcha. It wouldn't hurt. So my last cell before we move on is Philip Lindsey, running back Denver Broncos. He's had a strong start to the season. He was player that. Was picked up on waivers pretty early in the year. He's basically been the number one running back for Denver. I think that the moving for that Royce Freeman will get more action. We saw their head coach, talk about how they want to get Freeman more involved in that. He's playing really well, and they wanna they wanna get more touches. What do you think about Philip Lindsay? Do you think that he'll start tail off. He's already starting to..

Buffalo Bills player abruptly retires during halftime

"Buffalo Bills cornerback vantera Davis apparently upset with his sub-standard play on the field says he's done with football two games. His tenth season in the league. Davis who had signed a one year five million dollar contract this past off season to play with the bills apparently decided he'd had enough after the team went down twenty eight to six during the first half of yesterday's game against the San Diego. Chargers. Stunning. His coaches and teammates with his abrupt decision. Davis later released a statement saying that he quote did mean any respect to the team. These completed the other eight and the route is on twenty one to three in buffalo. The panthers. Get the first touchdown on the board in Atlanta today. Ten to three as Cam Newton hits. Jerry is right for touchdown. Newton who left the game momentarily was imitate after suffering a targeting hit that knocked a falcons player out of the game. But the Panthers take the lead. And we haven't talked much about this team yet the Atlanta Falcons no team besieged by injury more than the falcons early on in this year. "So I don't have to worry about coverage. Trying to put out the end zone. Trying to make the San Diego Chargers. Josh lambo former goalkeeper for FC Dallas now trying to make his NFL dreams. Come true. Josh. Thank you so much for joining us, man. Good luck. Hopefully, make the team if you do I think there's going to be a lot of soccer fans out. There got Lambeau on their fantasy teams. Thanks so much for having me on guys. I appreciate it. Thanks big things. Josh limbo is quite the task ahead of him trying to make an NFL roster with the San Diego Chargers. But what's really fascinating here? Guys is he wasn't doing this. And now he's on the brink of the NFL like elite. That's like not studying physics three like prac in a book and three years later just being like solved it figured it out NASA. And no matter what happens with the NFL. He set the record. He's the best kicker in Texas history. No matter what. Unbelievable. That's that's a massive school. Under four years. Yeah. It's like a religion out there in college station. Kyle field is like the temple and they all come there on Saturdays. But three years. So what else could you do in three years? What could I become if I dedicated the next three years of my life to a sport like darts? Maybe I've always thought this of Bob's of the bobsledding. Like, I mean, just because you saw the movie the Jamaican bobsledders, then the things you have to be a sprinter to go and like you well, unless you're the driver, look, you lumber indata mice track everyone else's pusher, except the driver. So you could be Steve Holcomb, you could be the driver. But while you're making such a big going downhill. No, no. But it's on the start you did it the more momentum you build up at the beginning. The better it is down the line. Right. So you don't think you're going to go thought you were going to go somewhere about like, wait. But I don't think extra weights helping going downhill gravity could help. But I don't think it's going to. I know you're gonna mention curling. Well, I'm because you have a dream gonna be limited curl. Yeah. Backburner we're going to test this I have to hit my forties. And that's when like you're my peak age the beer belly comes. Bella mature level if he didn't minimize the place kicking now, he's minimizing curling. And there's a lot of curling listens there. Okay. Look basketball. There's a lot of groans coming from our listeners. We had a couple of guys centers who started playing tenth grade are actually playing pro ball. No Sasha com being one of them. I think Joel Embiid was a late bloomer in basketball. But those guys have the natural Atra. And just Lamba has natural attributes to the guy's a premier athlete, and that's why he can move from one to the other. It's not just like we're leaving this office and saying I'm going to do this for three years. And then do it. I will tell you a story. There is one guy who coaches in college soccer. He's an assistant coach and he decided he wanted to make an Olympics. And so he learned how to be a power Rafter, and it's like, whitewater, rafting and him and his siblings learned it, and they all qualified for the next upcoming Olympic. Oh, wow. Yeah. So that you're going to be doing? So you gotta totally capable. But what you have to choose is an area where maybe there's not a lot of competition. There's not a lot of people out there like power rafting, baby. I'm going to the Olympics taekwondo. And then there's a lot of taekwondo people out there. What what are we think there's no fencing fencing then fencing there's a lot out there too long. All right. Look, let's tap into the greater ETR crew at large. Let us know what you think what would that sport b-? If you're going to just pick something up and try to go to the top level. What would it be at extratime radio?.

The next anything kicking most important kicks next kick. It doesn't matter. How many made how many missing a road going into this next kick? You only what matters is next wants to put this the The pressure. pressure soon is going to be pretty high here is going to training camp with the chargers. You know, they'll bring almost one hundred guys I assume and multiple kickers you've got to come in and win a spot. Takes us inside your mind right now. What do you think going into this training camp? How're you preparing? How do you make this team? Well, obviously like Novak league along time. Either that or I'm you've done that you've done what I'm trying to do. So I'm definitely fighting up hill battle trying to compete against the guy. Like that caliber. I think he set the chargers records for most sectors still those made. So you know, it's not gonna be an easy task meet to win the job. But. Just before the opportunity to compete. I mean, like I said I've only been doing this for three years now, I'm on NFL team trying to make Rosser. That's ridiculous. So I'm just I'm really excited for tuning under over the moon about getting the San Diego and compete for that for job, whatever that job might be. And you know, maybe I can talk to the receivers coach. But hey, I used to be goalie I can. I just wanted to go out there and compete make that team better make myself better and make it impacts and Johnson exciting because you're going to be my fancy kicker all season. So I'm excited for you to get it done. But when onside. Let's. So do you still follow molest? I mean, do you do you you set the World Cup? You all over that? These still father league. Do you do, you know, I'm swimming? You know, guys in the league still. So you're fairly soon. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely keep up with some of the guys. You know, this this currencies. I haven't been keeping up as much because my mind occupied. But, you know, definitely still talk with some of the guys, I'm still decent friends. Besides the, and and you know, back Lloyd, I talked to him every now, and again, I was just talking with George John recently with New York and talking with different guys here and there so I try to keep up with guys when I can I was actually Cooper last night. He shot me. A message thing. Congratulations. I was up up pretty late talking with him. And he's one of my favorite guys that I've ever met through soccer. So, you know, stay stay in touch with with some of those guys is really important to me. It's really special that they reach out to me thinking about it me as much as I'm thinking about that. Well, that's just how excited are you for a little bit of kickoff coverage here in preseason. Are you get to avoid that? That's that's going to be a big thing for me. And being able to win a job is how can do kickoffs. Just because that was the big question Mark next to my name going into a combine, my my workouts is just because I had I didn't do in college. So, but you know, I I've talked with people before own helmets. I won't break off. So that's good. But yeah, I mean, I'm excited. Hopefully, I'll pick out of the end zone every time..

"Of two thousand eleven they declined my fifth year option for my original generous contract had a couple of other trials when overseas with with Sheffield United that didn't work out was with DC United for a couple of weeks preseason that didn't work out offered the pool. I'm pool keeper goal contract. And it just just wasn't really appealing to me, quite honestly, a lot of uncertainty and. Offer a couple of different second tier and sell contracts, and I had already had with the Tampa Bay rowdies on loan my third year and same thing. It just wasn't real feeling to me kind of had to make a decision. You know, give up kinda my life's work everything. And I'd done for the past seventeen years. I've been I've been for soccer. And it was it was difficult decision. But I decided that the best for for myself and my future to to, you know, go get a education and big boy, though. So when you're doing this, do you know that you're going to be a kicker or you just go into Texas AM because you know, you need to get your degree. You're going for a job where was this all predicated on the fact that that you wanted to play for that football team? Well, it was the fact that I knew I had to go back to college. I wanted to get it for education. I had actually got a two year degree from an online school when I was still playing. So I had some college credits that I could transfer into a four year university. So I knew I'll going to go to college. 'cause you know, I I wanted to get an education. So I can get a good job. And I decided, you know, I knew I'd have some sort of eligibility football. So I thought, you know, let let me try to learn the thing see if it works out if it does great. It's not the fine. And so my brother he played soccer at university of in the heat of the kicker, they're fine. Taylor loss to time. Big ten kicker. All American kicker. We got about the same and contacted him. That's an a little brother. We met a couple of times where I've been there. I'm trying to go teach me on that stupid pointing looking ball. And he was in New Orleans at the time. So I drove over there for a weekend, you know, worked with me for a couple of sessions, and you know, kinda clicked pretty quickly. And so we we made a some pretty good film heath and out to bunch of his contacts. I just a bunch of random schools and long story short. And I'm like they brought me in. But just that you know, when you went to this friend to help you get some pointers. Did you know you even good at this? Oh, no. I'd never kicked the football like in my life. I mean, well, that's not entirely true. The only experience I've ever had when I was ten years old actually won the national buck-passing kit competition but other than that. I'd never kicked the football. So upon passing kick success story, you'd call you and everything's going full circle. Going back to soccer real quick. And then we'll move forward with football. You were a young goalkeeper in a position where a lot of guys peak much later, it's tough to get time early on. What did you kind of like not feel like you wanted to bide your time? Did you feel like it just wasn't happened happening fast enough? You know, also, I think it was soccer wise being a poor decision to go right out of Redmond. You know, I just turned seventeen you know, they had Dario Saul and Ray Burster at the Halas..

"On extra time radio with the guys cyborg. David Goss, you may recognize that movie we are headed to the gridiron movie that movie that music. Wow. Five letter words start with 'em. If only people knew the fight that we had about picking that what song is still the involved Snoopy or Brown Brown. Yeah. And you know, the night football ready for some football. You can guess who want Simon Simon one this one. He gets us when Josh lambo coming up here in just a second. He wasn't FC Dallas goalkeeper now, he's a San Diego charger. Well, we hope so he's going to be in camp. Signed, a free agent deal. He's a bolt. Yeah. He's a boat is a boat. We'll see we'll see if he stays a about science jogging all the knowledge that he has right now he was accusing us of being like NFL noobs essentially before this went down. I thought he only knew about Italian soccer. I was wrong. But I division. Before we bring lambo hear your thoughts. So I'm into the one who I believe claimed that he could kick a soccer ball what seventy five yards something like some just insane under yours. Seventy five seemed crazy. Four hundred that was old with foot Gulf remember? So it's funny. I tell my parents all the time if they didn't have paid for college. They should have just had me kicking high school because I generally think most soccer players can become top level kickers. And actually a little surprised that not more people do, but we've talked Justin Miriam said he kicked he could've kicked in college. We've talked guys who so it wouldn't have been a big big ten program. But and just Lamba I think we all remember him. Like, he was a promising goalkeeper you seventeen to guy. So it's an interesting story. You know place kicking is not you make it sound. Like, it's easy. It's not you have to have the right? Physical attribute number to the right mental attributes. Yeah. And it's a career that you have to hit at the right time. If you're if you're young Lambeau is young. It's a great time to start a career center. Sure. Thirty two guys. Yes. That's paid the big bucks. The odds are not with you. But I think soccer players are already at a level where they can kick a tougher ball. It's because the football flies easier. As far if not farther when you look at now like Australian rules football players kicking coming in thirty two and punting and stuff there's an opening there. There's an opportunity when opportunity for Josh lambo, Simon Scoffing such opportunity. It sound easy. We'll see we'll win both houses. He's the one. That's actually kicking these balls Josh lambo. Now, the San Diego Chargers on the phone now. What's? Yeah. How you got? We're doing pretty good not as well. As you. I mean, the the contract is big news. Of course, you still gotta make the team. But let's take this back because five years ago, we would have had on this show. We would have been talking about him last. We've been talking about, you know, maybe your first start things of that. Maybe everton. Now, we're talking to you about the NFL. How did this happen? Take us through the process of becoming a place kicker. Well, long long story. So yeah. A lot of it really goes back rookie year with Alex. My first pro game. I first fischel reserve game against a say about about seven minutes. Then I was going for breakway challenging bro jaw so that. Yeah. That's certainly didn't help my case. I was out for maybe two months of that. And then shortly after I was recovered Steve moral coach that decided to take an eighth overall pick with a seventeen year old goalkeeper. He got fired. So you know, that that was kinda strike number two, my rookie year and. And the the next coach came in, you know, different sides of the story. But I feel like I never really got a good shake so halfway through my rookie year. Oh, my pro soccer Israel over. So you know, was with Dallas until the end.

"I mean, it's not for put him on campus all tees podcast, but it was bad. Did you draw these saying I got into his face? And at this point the guy thinks I'm nuts because I'm literally running the third lane of a four lane road to make sure I get up to and what happened when you call him. I took down his license plate and called his company. I have it on me right now because this happened in the morning, should I call his. Company. He say he said you did. No, I took down the so he could company licensed show. How was the red light? It was sneaking through in the back end of the yellow or was it just like, you're strolling. It was my light all the way. There was no chain is not about to change. Have. I taken an extra step. So you felt the metal swish in front of your no, you know, how you cross the street, and you and you can hear cars coaching this guy continued to Rev Rev. He was Reverend through the innocent. Literally. That was my next step. A lot of listeners would have preferred happen didn't. Because someone's watching someone's watching of your sense of the world is shaken. My says, well, the sick, and that you just like I in visiting screaming running up, and then just stopping excuse me, sir, sir, sir. You gave it to him. Also, he had had a story right in his pocket. We have not heard this either that either that or he just he just spun us a tall tale. We don't know. Who knows who knows? He's given us the maybe so maybe not either way big show for today. You may remember Josh lambo Dallas keeper from a few years back. You ended up leaving the game. But he became a kicker place kicker that is protected am university. Now, he has a chance to play in the NFL, and we are happy to have him here in the second segment. He's been signed by the San Diego Chargers. Whether or not he'll make the team that's still uncertain. Well, let him tell you all about that himself. But to start a big weekend in the last let's start with the most recent game guys. And that would be New York City of seagoing down. Once again, they've lost four out of five this time. It was the Seattle. Sounders coming to Yankee Stadium with three one victory. I was there a good crowd. They were not very happy. Let's just say after this went went downhill for New York City of see the first half was a good first half. I thought I thought they were the better team by far one chance for the Sounders. What do you know the team that has the Ford on the field of Martin's finishes, and they just kinda ran away in the? Second half. That's that's what it is. It's a near exit. Ac- can't finish can't score goal. And they have ADP finisher who's been injured. And who knows by the way, the injuries had much hampered him in the opening game. That'd be in the second half did have five shots. He had some good moments. Nothing went inform, but he looked liveliest. But again, I think me Mortensen Dempsey together it's together that they are such a menace, and I think w via need someone needs help there. So during the broadcast, they were speaking about New York City of is going out they plan on signing their third DP in the summer. It's got to be Ford. It's gotta be a forward Dovid Viennese help and they played nice. Nice soccer. They created opportunities..
