COVID-19 testing and contact tracing key for safely reopening schools, two new studies suggest
"Some classrooms begin to open the US Dr Anthony Fauci said today that schools should proceed with caution and make safety a priority down. She also said that students need the psychological nutritional benefits and pretending in person classes although acknowledges that parents have to quote. Dramatically modified their work schedule this as we touched on earlier, two new studies suggesting scaled up testing and contact tracing of those who test positive being key factors in any school reopening. To professionals who are facing these issues in different dates. Becky stone is the director of Alcoa City schools in Tennessee and Brian Woods Superintendent of the northside independent school district in San Antonio Texas, appreciate both of you for for being here tonight Becky the for the first day back to school in your area. Tennessee was July twenty second week and a half ago you. I know you've had four confirmed coronavirus cases. You expect so many. So soon and and how you responded that how does that change thing? Is. When we decided that we were going to open wing knew that we would have cases We unfortunately didn't go into it thinking that. No one was going to get sick because lots goes on those folks are going to get sick if they're in school or not but the first one we had was Just right. After we opened school and we met together and as attain. We did our contact tracing and because I felt like we had some really good protocols in place we really didn't the exposure was very limited and the second time it happened was last week and again I feel like because of the protocols we have in place in the safeguards there was very little exposure Interesting that that you're doing your own contact trae saying as a school That's a that's obviously a smart thing to do given the problems we're seeing with contract tracing on kind of you know on the large scale. Bryan Texas you're facing a different timelines. Schools haven't opened yet in your district, but once they do they'll be required to have full person learning after the first eight weeks. I correct me if I'm wrong on that do you think that timeline will allow you to keep your students and teachers say It's a good question and it's one that I hope we don't have to contemplate obviously our preferences not to have a a set timeline but rather to allow a local school leaders in elected boards of trustees to make decisions about what safe for their students in their staff. So a it is concerning to us that we have kind of an arbitrary time line of eight weeks, and then whoever wants to be back in the building. Ganvie. Becky I. Knew Your district did stagger started with students coming in for in person classes I think only one day week, which means I, think he'd only have a twenty percent occupancy at any given time. How is that working out? What are the difficulties? That you're finding just for other educators who are out there. That's true. We have about we're a small district. We only have about twenty, two, hundred students system wide good part. We're all on one campus with four schools on one campus we did decide. For. An option our our students could also choose to do all online and to do virtual learning. So when we say we brought in twenty percent, it's a little bit less than that because of those virtual learning students who are already online, but we did we stagger. So students are in school one day a week, and then they do digital learning the next four days until they come back to their in person day and it's worked out very well for US I can say. Got Of great feedback from parents teachers from other from administrators It does create some difficulty and you touched on that a second ago parents. It creates a difficulty for parents and I understand that and we want to be sensitive to that. But at the same time we thought why with the pressure to open, this is the only way that we could open safely and that was our first priority, and if if I know with contact tracing if a classroom if the student has positive. What happens in terms of quarantining D- do does the teacher they were in touch with does that person have to then leave school does the classroom what happens? Well. Again, because we open with such small numbers, it's very easy for classes to social distance and so Alvar staff are required to wear masks all times. Our students are not required. They six through twelve. We have strongly suggested that they wear and then pre K. through five. We have suggested that they wear if they're going to be in close groups. However. It's been good because most all students are wearing mask as well. But again, a classroom if a student test positive. There may only be for their students in that class right and they've been distance, and so when you do the contact tracing, what we have found is that very few of them have been in close contact for ten minutes or more within six feet of one another, and so the exposure has been very limited and most of the time both have on mass. So they can continue come to school and the teachers continue coming to school. Even though they they've. Been in the area of of a student, but not for a prolonged time. That's correct. Now, the student that tests positive obviously would corentin for fourteen days. Okay and and then anyone else that we find that may have been in close contact with that person and may have some exposure. They would also contain for the fourteen days. Brian's Brian the guidance for Best Practices for schools has been a moving target of both federal and state levels of Texas Office of in a hot spot for the virus in recent weeks how has that changed your plans and preparations have? It's changed dramatically when we surveyed our families in early June, we had about three quarters who indicated they wanted to come back for in person learning than we sent the same survey out in mid-july that was down more like a third, and so it has altered plans dramatically unfortunately in Texas we've had constantly shifting state. As well, and so I don't honestly know which version of the plan were on at this point I lost track a long time ago. But the the prevalence of the viruses. Shifted our plans but I feel good that we got a good plan on. Nimble plan. Going forward, and we'll be able to serve families either in the building or in distance learning well O'Brian woods and becky stone I appreciate can't imagine how difficult it is to be an educator right now and not appreciate all you're doing. Thank you very much.
Where did Davy Crockett die
"For coffee lovers today's mystery. Well, this industry Gabi Crockett on March six. Eighteen thirty six Mexican forces stormed the Alamo afford I like old mission in San Antonio where some two hundred rebellious Texans had been holed up for weeks, the battle was over in less than two hours leaving. Great. Texas heroes like Jim Buoy, James Butler Bonham, and William Travis dead among the defenders that day was Davy Crockett former congressman legendary hundred scowl, and teller of tall tales according to sell accounts Crockett died in. A battle that according to others. He was one of a handful of men captured and later executed what really happened while there's the battle and Aaron Lace, the myth and mystery. But exactly who was Davy Crockett he was born in Tennessee. Eight seven, hundred, eighty, six as a young man he was indentured by his father to pay off debts once they were paid in full he was finally allowed to leave home. Although he was voted into Congress, no one knows where he was educated yet he was articulate understood politics and could play the fiddle Crockett's true claim to fame prior to his death at or around. The Alamo was just a hunter in his youth tessie was still a wilderness out one time. He supplied food through skills of hunting for an entire army. While in Congress, he opposed add Jackson's argument to relocate local Indians. Congress. Crockett became a freemason. He spent time in his entire legislative career fighting for the rights of impoverished settlers who felt dangled on the precipice of losing title to their land. Due to the states complicated system of grants. He introduced a resolution to abolish the United States Military Academy at West. Point. New. York because he felt that it was public money going to benefit the sons of wealthy men. He spoke out against Congress giving a hundred thousand dollars to the widow of Stephen Decatur citing the congress was not. Empowered to do that, he opposed Andrew Jackson Eighteen thirty Indian removal act and was the only member of the Tennessee delegation to vote against it. Chief John Ross, sent him a letter on January thirteenth eighteen, thirty one expressing his thanks for Crockett's vote is what was not popular with his own district and he was defeated in the eighteen thirty one election by William, Fitzgerald and here's a quote. I told the people of my district that I would serve them as faithfully as I had done before. But if not. They might go to hell and I would go to Texas history tells us that Ab Crockett went to Texas but not alone he brought with him. Thirty one tells C. Determined to join the fray if the predicted revolution were breakout Texas at the time was part of Mexico. So all background decide where to Davy Crockett died a letter, the surface in nineteen, fifty, five described house seven men were taken prisoner and. And the CROCK was one of them. But there are three accounts assay otherwise, WanNa cal survivor of a Texan whose husband was killed in the battle. She said that she saw Davy Crockett spotty inside the Alma the second account came from a slave who also spared was said to have seen Davy Crockett body within the walls. So the Alamo, the third account was from Francisco on. Tony Rhys, the mayor of San. Antonio who safely behind the Mexican lines in the battle began and had a good vantage point to witness what happened before the arrival. Of the Mexican army, he had met Davy Crockett civilians of San Antonio in the defenders of the Alamo mingled freely before the battle he said that after the battle Saana ordered him to point out the bodies of Crockett, Travis and boy crock he said had fallen in battle on the west side of the Alamo grams near Fort. Our listeners know there's a lot of uncertainty around the CAP will the the League and the Players Association, artificially inflate the number scowl because it is based on revenue, will they hold it flat at one? Hundred, nine, point? One, four, million, I, think that's the most likely scenario that is uncertain which obviously impacts contract extensions. But you make a good point in impacts, Victor Oladipo, more than a clear supermax player like. shifting gears a little bit scall- one of the segments that I know you'll be happy to retire on the show I think this is the last time we'll do at least until next year, and that is Boll Bowl Watch, scall- Bob All had another big game yesterday, people people who are interested in such things including ESPN, they asked the League if bowl bowl would be eligible. Eligible to win rookie of the year next year, keep in mind. The eight seating Games in Orlando do not count for the awards. This year and ESPN was informed scale that Bo bowl is eligible to win rookie of the year a year from now, which is when I think would be the likely time that he would have his first significant impact in a regular season game for the nuggets. Save your money. Don't bet bowl. Bowl. Right now, I'm just telling you guys save your money. What is a phenomenon with with these games like these games, I. Don't mean anything in a guy plays well was phenomenon behind that. There's so much goes into being good in the NBA. Why? Why? When People Watch Bobo? Do they think? Oh, my guy, he's GonNa. Be the next John Hunter Toco. I think a few things I mean, he's long. He, he can shoot. He blocked shots that. Seemingly out of the picture with that length and I think that's part of a scale i. also think honestly the fact that there hasn't been basketball for four months. People are starving for anything especially, anything new and bowl is new. You know unless people were watching Julia film which not many people I know do they hadn't seen Bobo play before but. He had a great run in a scrimmage games. It's exciting long-term. If you're a nugget fan you and I feel that he will have minimal impact if any impact. I, think on the seed in games and especially when the playoffs start for the number nuggets. Scale a couple of quick things here to round out the show again, Ryan mcdonagh, Brian Scallop rainy here with you gals. Other. Sports, the coaches in the game tomorrow night expected to join the demonstration. So I think given the NBA Social Awareness, and the fact that they're putting black lives matter on the court. Let player speak their minds in any media ability. I think this is something you anticipated happening as well. Yeah. I. Don't actually have a problem with it. You know what I do have a problem with was, did you see the WNBA players walkout during the national anthem like I don't know man? Listen, I, understand. Everyone has the right to say what they want and I think kneeling shows like all right. It's been universally. Put out there that when you neil, you're kneeling for social. The social injustice, right. But to walk away. Our this is why does that feel bad to me? Is that feel like it's it's going to another level of disrespect. I saw the report you're talking about scowl, but I also saw refuted by Holly Rowe from ESPN who I think is in the WNBA bubble, she said the walkout was actually before the anthem. So instead of leaving while the anthems going on out of protest against the players in the to. WNBA. Return to the locker room prior to the anthem starting now is that different than kneeling? Is that the same I think there can be different arguments based on your point of view. Of a few other quick things scale, and this is something that really struck me last night, the more I was thinking about it. The San Antonio Spurs Scou-, a long shot to get the eighth seed in the Western Conference I. If we take a step back from the season, look at the big picture scall-, what are your lasting memories from the San Antonio Spurs? If they don't make the playoffs this year that will snap their twenty two year consecutive playoff streak Scou- be your key takeaways from the Spurs. Amazing. Run over the past two decades. Oh, my gosh, will tim. Tim Duncan, Ginobili. Parker. But you also have to give credit to. I. Obviously. Tim. Duncan. Things luck. You win the lottery. Every person, their mother would have picked him Dunkin number one. But what they did with the Tony Parker pick, that was my class. He was the last pick in that in in the first round and then nobly, pick to take two guys who are basically you late first or early second round picks and turn them into what those guys are, which are probably hall of famers that gives a ton of credit to their organization then obviously Record speaks for itself and commitment in that. And the people that play for them usually had this tied to the to the San Antonio Spurs. So when you see all that, you realize that it's more than basketball for them. It's it's you're playing for each other you're playing for the organization you're playing for your coach, you're playing for your community. So I just I've been I. You know I was in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs and. They were it was it was a really difficult place to win and I just now that it's going to come to an end, it's it's an amazing streaked be able to put that many years together of having successful seasons. I agree with that scale and mathematically the Spurs, do have a chance to twelfth on the, Western. conference. As a reminder, they need to get into the top nine and be a ninth and be within four place Excuse me four games of the place Memphis Grizzlies to trigger a planned scenario. But scale the spurs come into this thing, they're twenty, seven, thirty, six, they don't have their star big lamarcus, Aldridge. They'd also don't have his backup. Trey Lyles So I think you and I think it's a real long shot moving personally spend any money on San Antonio to get the AC to make the playoffs. This year upscale here are the numbers here are the main. Main takeaways from doing some research last night on the Spurs Twenty, two straight playoff appearances scale. They won seventy percent of the regular season games. They were one, hundred, a one, thousand, two, hundred, and twenty, eight wins and only five, hundred, twenty, eight losses they also on sixty percent of their playoff game scale. They were hundred, seventy and one fourteen over the past twenty, two years while winning five NBA titles scale that's remarkable and I think people who maybe haven't worked for NBA teams are having played for in Cochrane teams like you have. Don't realize how hard it is to do that and be that consistent year out with no elapses. Sure. Yeah, I mean. But obviously. If the Bron- went to one organization in stay with that organization, and then they nailed too late pics then like. It. All does surround around him. Duncan right. I mean we're not trying to I'm not trying to discredit pop or anything like that the organization, but getting the number one pick and that number one pick turning out to be Tim Duncan. It'll be like if Orlando had shack and. It'd be shocked, never not make the playoffs if he stayed with the Orlando Magic from start to the end..

That's why we're taking him this high in the second round and maybe the medical information they have on late vandereycken tells them that they're fine. They've got Layton they've got they've got Layton. They've got a Jalen they've got Sean Lee resigned and then on top of that. They've resigned both the JOE. Thomas am marsh show. I mean their linebacking core isn't skinny by any means but if you lose more than one of them for an extended period of time then you might have an issue so I agree that they certainly have a lot of options at linebacker. You know theoretically the way or the the reasoning behind the cowboys potentially having a need at linebacker. Because you're right on the surface they. Should you say that you like that dude? I agree with Stephen. Like that's news to me too. However there are two ways that linebacker could be a need for the cowboys. One is that late in vander ashes. Injury situation is neck injury which is the same thing that Michael Irvin dealt with although Layton's obviously a lot younger and there's a lot to believe you know a lot of reasonably it's not a serious has. Irvine's was as Irvine's forced him into retirement. In fact Layton's agent Ron. Slavin was on the belonged. Boys Pipe case feed after you weeks ago and kind of you know just just offered up some some you know. Hey lightens good you know. Don't be worried type stuff that that'll be the first reason the other reason would be. There's been a lot of speculation that with new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. The cowboys might be saying what that four three? No Way Bro. We'll go tree full. And when we go truffaut we're going to need some pass rushers. We're GONNA need some people getting after the quarterback we're gonNA need some people. I don't know China sack somebody. And that's what Stephen Jones also kind of said I want to get the end of the day You know what? I've been fired up about with coach McCarthy and then what he's doing with our defensive staff and Mike no one is just what you just said is You know you WANNA have flexibility. You WanNa have great players you WANNA be able to scheme you know against offences. You're going to play around and I a perfect example of that hadn't people who've had a tremendous amount of success coach. Bela checkup in New England. In terms of you know how they Scheme and how they use different fronts and You know different schemes in order to have success on the defensive side of the ball so You know obviously I know we're working hard You know Putting her off the field priorities. I but You know with guys like Alden. Smith and Randy Gregory are long guys. Who can rush the passer from You know from that outside spot you know we call it a a Sam Dp Our role You know were traditionally with Rod. We used typically more just the forgery and the typical Defensive Ends with a AG- I liked demarcus Lawrence and Quinn but you know I do think you know you could see you know some situations there where you are looking at You know a pass. Rusher tight That can rush the passer from you. Know if you will More of a sandy. Pr TYPE POSITION IN CASE ANYBODY WAS UNAWARE. Cpr does not is not like an acronym for Dr Pepper. I mean if Dr Peppers playing a game you know how they put like the three. That are like city acronym. I thought that they were looking for some Dr Peppers for the draft. Actually now that I think about it Dr Peppers. Three letter acronym. Ib Are you're right. I mean that makes our DRP. Excuse me doctor but I don't know I'd like deep seems more Dr Pepper. I actually don't even like Dr Pepper. No I'm but deep. Er stands for what James Pleasure Defensive? Pass rusher designated designated pass rusher. What's IT Defensive Player? But that is music to my ears personally. I think it should be music every cowboys fans ears and again if you need a DP are Jalen Smith did a lot of pr while at Notre Dame and so. That's that's the way you could go and if you if you move Jalen Smith over there then you would need a linebacker which is why that. Is You know what the cowboys are considering next Thursday. But they've got more in theory. They've got a couple of deep coming back very soon. Once Roger Goodell makes his decision Alden Smith and Randy Gregory and that was out and Smith that was his position outside linebacker in the forty niners. Three four when he had his greatest success. I am huge believer that it is possible that Randy Gregory Alden Smith could work for the cowboys and I think every cowboys fan and a lot of football fans at a lot of people are just in general are rooting for Randy Gregory announcement to get back and get their lives back on track and whatnot and are proud of the work. They've done so far. I don't think it would be responsible or smart or even just a responsible release kind of the base of it all to count on them at this point. They should be treated as surplus. This should be treated as whatever we get from them. We remember if you're counting on that and it came out this past week. That Roger Goodell the commissioner. Nfl will not let the cowboys know if they're going to be reinstated before the draft. Lots of people like well you know. They need to know because of their strategy. If that's affecting their draft strategy. They're going about this all wrong. Yeah and you've seen that with some of the guys that they've interviewed a Guy Like Zach. Bond who can be seen as an kind of an outside. Dp are pass rusher type person whether it's a four three edge or a three four linebacker Zach bond guys like that. They've already had into interview. That could be available late. Second Third Brown even and would help to bolster that position. Because if you take away out and Smith Randy Gregory there's not much there at the at the DP our position. Well I am very very very much. Baga hype that the cowboys will drop back on the first one I now. Is it going to be an outside pass rushing linebacker or are you of the mind that it's going to be someone like Kenneth Murray? Who's going to be in the middle? I mean there's a lot of chatter from people far more connected to the draft. And I that really are pumping out the name Kenneth Murray and so I mean I believe in. It's worth mentioning that. The cowboys generally have their first pick necessarily first-round pick 'cause obviously didn't have on their first pick is generally very. Well telegraphed leaks very very very prominently throughout the media. Kind of in the lead up to the draft where we are in two thousand sixteen. There was some debate. Certainly between whether it was going to be Zeke Elliott or Jalen Ramsey and a lot of that is I mean if you're picking fourth overall it's pretty you know it's pretty easy to kind of figure out what you're doing but the year after that in two thousand seventeen. The whole world knew they were taking Charlton and the year after that the worst kept secret in the world. I mean an even. Bigger deal are more widely known in the top with everybody. Knew the cowboys wanting blatant Dandridge I mean it was so widely known. I thought they WANNA Dallas Gutter. Which is why the eagles jumped them. No they they had no interest in Dallas Gutter. And I mean that's I think that's a a case where smokescreens and stuff like that work to your advantage. I mean because the cowboys put that out the eagles kind of panicked but the eagles we gotta get him they did and they got their tied in and even then that was in the second round couch ended up taking Connor Williams in that second round. It hasn't been great for them but I think every channel rather have Connor Williams maybe not in this moment given. I don't know a lot of people are attached Blake Shelton. That's a whole different subject but anyway last year everybody knew that they wanted tristen hill. There was some like like hope that they were going to take one thornhill Taylor rap but everybody knew they wanted and so. It's I mean this team in particular. It's very very very much worth paying attention to to the specific names. That are starting to leak. Well if Murray is the selection in the first round what does that mean for late and band. Russia's future was it mean for Sean Lee I mean. What does that mean for the middle of that cowboys linebacking core? I think those are the questions that would we would have next Friday morning. If say Kenneth Murray was the pick the question would be okay. Is this more about Layton's health. Is this more about you..

"The best content on the web. If I do say so myself. I'm are Joe Joe. He's James Pleasure. If you're listening on the BBC podcast you didn't hear that fantastic bumper because of the law that it was Carlos santanas smooth which is one of the better songs in the world. I've mentioned pledge. I've that is the CLICHE. Tnt Goto Song during the Spurs Game. Like the put him journal blue. But anyway so the Dallas cowboys this week made a move savion Smith cornerback from the Houston roughnecks Alabama former five star recruit. I mean Lsu. Clearly they don't need to make any moves anymore in all seriousness. The cowboys I think have done a great job of preparing. It's kind of like I've never run a marathon before but my wife has right and so it's kind of like when you do that. You like prepare right and you eat the right things to make sure you have enough nutrients you eat the glue or whatever in your prepared and you have the playlist. You're set in your ready in the case of any potential sort of hiccup or emergency or whatever you've got something going the cowboys kind of have that I mean you know what I mean like. They've got on Smith Morris Kennedy. They have a safety ha ha Clinton dix. They have two defensive tackles and Joe McCoy and Antero. I mean the only need that they have. They have not addressed in some shape. Form or fashion and free agency is wide receiver. They need a slot receiver. And that's the only thing they haven't addressed they near Slot. I also I mean you can pump Maurice Kennedy and saving on Smith as much as you want but I'm not pump. Let's let's be clear. I'm just listing when Byron Jones has walked out the door and your top corners. Are She Tobaiwa Jordan? Lewis who I think can be really good and Anthony Brown. It's I feel great about my Secondary if I would if I was a Dallas Cowboys Fan. I would feel very uneasy. You shouldn't feel great. You should feel uneasy in fact should feel extremely easy especially because even if you think that they're great a year from now they're all gonna be free agents except for Anthony Browne on top of that. You will have to have paid deck on tonight. You'll have to pay deck. That's true and next offseason. I mean again. I'm not trying to you know. Just the sky's falling. But next offseason you Michael Gallup's eligible for a contract extension so things The Rams taught us anything. It's to not do a contract too early when there aren't a rookie deal man. The Rams I mean forty million dollars in debt money. They're paying todd. Gurley and Brandin cooks so much money to play for them. It's unbelievable but but they're the rams so anyway look the rams went all in and they got to a super bowl in order. I mean like it was it was worth it but you know there. There was a legitimate logic to what they did. But but so the cowboys. This week This past week I should say have interviewed or announced more interviews. They've been doing all virtual online socially distance interviews as of now pledge and we have a tracker available for you at blogging dot com with every interview. The cowboys have documented. They have some interesting names. They have three wide receivers and three defensive tackles. That's interesting to me. I mean it stands out and more than anything. I'm fascinated how the cowboys have been particular about who they are announcing the fat interviews with. Who are your top three. I guess. Let's call them if you're looking for a slot receiver in this year's draft. Who would be your top three choices to be a Dallas Cowboy? Well that depends. I mean like what round and I you. It doesn't matter what round you're looking at what you're asking me? I'm I'm taking C. D. lamb at seventeen. That's that's my answer. I don't think he's going to be there personally. I I think he's going to be you. Don't think they're at seventeen. You're saying that the temptation isn't even there. I think the best slot in this class might be Justin Jefferson. Okay the receiver from Lsu. I think very close probably you can get them in the second or Third Brown but somebody that's going to be able to work out of the slot. Do those kind of things you did with Randall. Cobb maybe even some some you know sweeps and runs and stuff that you did with Tehran Austin and stuff like that I think Devon du Vernay out of the University of is would fill fill the role of slot receiver very wh especially in Dallas China. Remember the last Longhorn that the cowboys drafted and I believe it was Jeff. Suame in two thousand fifteen so and then a minute and then somebody. That's very similar to Randall Cobb. In terms of just the way he kinda gets Jack and works underneath. And you kinda use them in a whole bunch of different ways and they're the he had a a core muscle surgery after the combine that he ended up injuring La- viscous Chenault may fall in the name of the injury and the medicals and not being able to exactly know where he is. He was talked about early in. The process is a late first. Rounder you may be able to snag them in the second or third round now you know. Interestingly enough when it comes to the VISCA specifically a few weeks ago. Let's see. I wrote this on April first. It wasn't a joke Pro Football Focus had an analytics based mock draft that particular day and they and their formula that goes into it There's certainly you know the world of analytics is very interesting. But they had the cowboys taking the Trayvon digs but they were not the first person or entity to conduct an analytic space. Mock draft in fact. This was I knew this was before then back on March Sixth Cynthia freeland friend of blogging. The boys put together an analytic space. Mock DRAFT NFL. Medias like sort of foremost expert on all things analytics and she had a lot of criteria that went into her analytic space and this was the first round. Mock draft. Mind you again. This was back on March. Six and with the seventeenth overall pick. She had the cowboys taking the viscous. Chenault the Colorado wide receiver again. This is sort of analytic space. And I don't I'm certainly not start at the freeland but I found that interesting that from an analytics perspective. May we did? And I don't know I again. This is my sort of way superficial level understanding and I don't remember the entire mock but I wonder if the analytics argument is like points points points points so everybody's taking wide receivers. Artemis which demerits Levinsky Guana the cowboys I don't think is points points points base. I think a lot of it would have to do with. Of course she act which he got a lot of wallet. Colorado has ability to get separation coming out of breaks. I was wondering model. She use like they're different analytics that help to solidify like rang. Off the line of scrimmage things like that because CD lamb wouldn't rank high in those factors because he got free releases so many times because of the offense that. Oh you runs on. That's obviously those sort of philosophy reminds whatever you WANNA call it. The copies of adopted offensively is we need pristine route. Runners can gain separation You know I remember hearing. I think it was an interview with Brandon Bean. I forget who but there was an interview with somebody that I heard on the podcast. Six months ago talking about how the buffalo bills really really really went heavy in that same mindset. That's why they moved on from Kelvin. Benjamin and they went and got receivers like Cole Beasley. That could gain separation. And it's you look they traded for Stefan Digs and certainly paid more than there is on Carlos Different Andre Hopkins. So that's it's interesting. It's an interesting thought exercise. This is looking a little ahead. Pledge but it's something that we're GonNa talk about next week on the blog and the boys podcast for you and I wanted to get your thought to kind of set the table. What is the most talented Dallas Cowboys team? That didn't win the Super Bowl. Oh we're going to explore this a little bit more in depth so for the bt listeners. We'll definitely you know we'll we'll toss it around ladies San Antonio but we're going to cover it all week long. It's a bit of our theme for us next week. What's what's the one that comes to me because I have four and I'm sort of sort of going at it with four specific teams. I don't know if you want me to tell you. Obviously the one I think of is the one that kept them from repeating. That's ninety four ninety four my forty that. I mean you look at the talent. They had on both sides of the ball. And just the amount of hall of famers on that team and it's. It's almost blatantly obvious that that should be probably one. I'm pretty sure one of Romo's teams at least should be on that list. So you talk about garage and flows Al Adams and Damore fairy way. I've thought about this in you. Know there are a lot of ways to go but I think you can certainly. I don't know about talent but you could. You could go. Nineteen seventy cowboys. That lost to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl. Five you could go the one thousand nine hundred eighty eighty one eighty two teams that lost the NFC championship games. Under Danny why I wanted to keep it not somewhat fresh but you know last quarter century so to speak ish. I Know Ninety four technically is in that but just for the purposes of everybody's memories a little bit a little bit more on block from the last twenty five twenty six years than anything further back so my four teams and we're GONNA explore to these a little bit more in depth like I said the Sheila Preview get the nineteen ninety-four cowboys lost the NFC championship game. On the road. In San Francisco after surrendering a twenty one point lead to the forty niners gave it their all but couldn't ultimately clawback two thousand seven. The first Tony Romo team that lost the New York giants eventual suitable champions. Obviously just like the niners ninety four. I mean that was an incredibly talented team. Thirteen pro bowlers. You know and you look. I mean that had te'o that head Jason Whitney in Prime Jason Witten yeah right similarly a keeping someone in team. The two thousand fourteen cowboys. I think you know they weren't as talented. I don't think either one of those two teams from an overall roster perspective but that was Tony Romo operating at the absolute peak of his powers. And so I think that was. That was still prime. Dez Bryant and so and prime prime but certainly elite cowboys offensive line and my final one for you and allow you to pick the two thousand sixteen cowboys the thirteen and three team one seed that lost to now. Mike McCarthy's are not now. But then Mike McCarthy Green Bay packers and I'd like to throw one more in there just to Kinda and it's not because of their record or anything like that but you look on paper at last year's team and we all thought that that was a super bowl caliber team you have Robert Quinn who I love and a half sacks Byron Jones who just got paid the most money by any cornerback in free agency. You had back operating at the height of his powers. You have Zeke. Who is still performing. You added a Randall Cobb in the slot you had a Maury Cooper and Michael Gallup Layton Band Rush Jalen Smith both coming off phenomenal seasons the year before and demarcus Lawrence coming off his big. You had so many pieces on this team that the fact that they didn't make the playoffs is a shame. That's a fair take. Certainly I think because you're saying talent like maybe the most talented teams to never win. Obviously it's a subjective exercise And I certainly agree with your line of thought. I think maybe we put more time between two thousand nine hundred eighteen and us. We'll lump that one in but I mean I think when you I guess for me like where it's hard to put those on the same categories the others because in the ninety four team when the NFC championship game three made it to the divisional round of the playoffs.

"To you from the tobin center for the performing arts in san antonio texas. San antonio has a lot of nicknames. You can call it. The alamo city military city home of the spurs. I'm going to add another one. I manning another one onto the list called back city u._s._a. And that's because every summer millions of mexican free tailed bats crossed the border they fly up and they go through this timeshare this cave that they like to occupy they wing their way to bracken cave located just north of san antonio you and that makes this town home to one of the largest bat colonies in the world. We're talking fifteen to twenty million bats in the bracken cave our our team went to the cave and brought back a sound portrait of their visit. We are at bat conservation. International's bracken in cave preserve the mouth of the cave to the bottom of eighty foot deep sinkholes. If you look right down into the darkness below that second arch you can see it looks like like the air's moving a little bit those are the bat swirling right there in the darkness and you'll catch a glimpse of them every now and then so that four tex who's gonna move out to the the mouth of the cave and then once it's in the sinkhole it has to climb spiral upwards to get to the top of the trees and then they stream away this river. A bats in the sky smells like kind of a wet dog smell of guano. It's all over the floor and like the guano over seventy five feet deep happening it pulses is really strong honey kind of pulses down pulses up so as they come out that's swain since talk to their raft raft down range there on the outside that big tree that just catch them about their talents yeah they're just dive in and grab them eat or eat them right on the wing <hes> he bergquist and i'm a volunteer bracken bat cave and i'm also a master naturalist and we live nearby. Can you see them by near your house. We consume from our back. Porch should look like back there. It looks it. I it looks like smoke coming out and of course now we know what is but eventually they actually come right over our house. Take a lot of bad syndicate takes him about three and a half hours to clear out empty the cave. We're going to be home in bed or home anyway. Yeah this is like one percent joining me now. Now for the rest of the tour is fran hutchins. He's director of the bracken cave preserve part of bat conservation international welcome fran in the bats flying from central and south america mexico ago. Yes they could stop anywhere. They want to why the bracken cave well. It's a perfect setting for the bats. It's a large cavernous space. <hes> you can kind of think of it like a giant incubator will talk about people having their own man caves it home but bracken is what you call a mom cave. What does that mean. We have some around eight to ten million pregnant females and move into the cave and in march and then in early june. Everybody has a baby baby. It's called a pup and so that's what our population jumps up to around fifteen to twenty million wow and the bats leave and bracken cave. These bats are called mexican free tailed bats right what tell us about them. What are their habits. What did the well the their insectivores so they're really important to our local farmers.

"Ramona's going with the cavs but higher stakes drama your opinion the cavs of the spurs this season 'cause you could argue that all right with the cavs they've had a lot of drama but like at least they're you know still considered somewhat favorites in the east behind the brawn james who is fine and happy and having one that when they have the best season his career whereas the drama with the spurs like the spurs without colli like if if they had kalat and lamarcus just playing the way he is and all of these these young guys like we we may be talking about the spurs of top of the west not not the rockets to me to me actually the drama that's been sexier to me as the cavs sexier is a different of categories i still go with the cavs just because i think anything that happens with lebron and it was on to see that team completely trade almost half the team away at the trade deadline the isaiah thomas stuff going on with them you had the shut up and dribble you're so much stuff going down in the middle of the year yeah coughing up blood i mean that's you know i mean at the at the end of the day what's happened with san antonio yes it has affected them to a certain degree of what's what's going to happen with them in the postseason but we're talking about the cavaliers which is team that everybody was like they're definitely coming out of the east even despite the fact that boston made all this changes everybody was like lebron cleveland's gonna come out and then all of a sudden we wondering what's going to happen now when they traded half of their team away.

"That it it's not under the teams control and kind of giving more information that could wise acting on his own like i don't know it's it's an interesting dichotomy with you know the old regime of the spurs but then you have danny green on the other side saying you know tweeting now that there was no tension in their team meeting i wanna do a little bit of grew speculating and like ramona do not answer this because i don't want you to be aggravated in the mischaracterized i'm assuming you don't have like deep insights into the situation cassidy i'm assuming the same so aggregated keep that in mind this is just total rampant speculation kawai leonard does not play for the spurs again this season does he play is he in a spurs uniform at the start of next season casts pants i mean this is total speculation as you said like i just i feel like here's a be there but i have i've no basis for that right that everyone else in the public just like ramona said trying to make sense once playoffs hit and he's not suited up and that team goes to war and they're looking at him on the bench like i don't know i just i don't know this think something something may pop off that may be a reparable grow speculation yeah again with the disclaimer that this is pure speculation on my part i normally i would say that he's going to remain the san antonio spurs just because that organization finds a way to keep his talent but i guess in all my years of being covering the nba would usually start to see tea leaves like this where there is some sort of drama coming out it usually doesn't usually leads to something where it doesn't end it doesn't end nice it usually is a divorce and so in this case and especially when you have an athlete who doesn't talk like hawaii perhaps maybe maybe his people or his party feels underappreciated then that usually means that they want to be somewhere else the money is ridiculous though and i don't know in the nba it's it is always hard for a player to give up that kind of money but perhaps that's not important to quite maybe what's important is happiness are we even are we.

"One team in the lowly spurs of the other team because you realize they came in having lost six out of seven games four straight games they had lost they've been pretty pathetic without kwahi leonard and yesterday they didn't have a guy who had been vying for six manoftheyear and monitor geno blaze got a chef contusion he did not see the floor yesterday and it was thirty four to twenty spurs just in the fourth quarter so let's not lose sight of that it may have been fairly strategic on the bronze part two sinned this salvo at the referees just to take the onus off the mess that was the cavalier's offense on the floor during the fourth quarter and their defense for that matter but now let's go back to the bigger picture point i am shocked that lebron james shows yesterday to take this shot at the referees because mr sharp exhibit a here is the san antonio spurs have fouled the least number of times in the nba this year they they stole foul a whole lot so let's let's keep it in the context here that we have the team that's fouled the leased after low braun on friday night played at memphis and by the way i gave him high marks on twitter for this you can look it up he did play backtoback at memphis on friday night but if you wanna talk about discrepancy myth this is the team in the nba that his fouled the most times they have fouled three hundred twenty nine times more than the spurs have foul so if you want to take a stand against the referees and how you're not being officiated take it on friday night ahead of the big sunday national tv game against popovich and the spurs because memphis fouls the most and still you shot only four free throws against memphis you played your high minutes and he played by far the most minutes in the game yesterday but he shot only four free throws yesterday i okay so your your criticism your your case should have been made.
