"Door I'm going through the door. Thank you been Nice. To do that I'm moving to the door, so. That's good. But I mean. Yeah I mean I. Love that Al Tying everything together with these characters. You know I I don't know sometimes. I hate it when like I like us like pass storyline in like riders, just like choose, ignore staff, or just like no, we're going to. We're doing this for doing this. Al Ewing's time everything in like in Hong History. Honestly! I'm so happy about this version of it goes after the whole, the last, the other hoax story and rock up cuts. On. I don't need anymore I. Get my fill of Roxanne from petticoat Peggy Carter. Okay Rock. Son Does Not need to be my radar anymore than it already is. And yes, or no Oh evil corporations, signed or corporation. Rock song was like a speed. Bump the you know out. You don't want to get the health this quick Selena. Let's be bumping rocks. We've already been to know we. Need the leader to explain to us what it was worry were. And and to that extent. You know I'm hoping they do make a point about set assembled. Trump's actually having A. Survived Quality, which was revealed in the thunderbolts idea, which was this idea that? Yes, Samuel strange was not you know socially or intellectually intelligent, but that he had this perfect mind for finding the patterns and the structures and things. And do hide things into. Have this Create in find systems that navigate these pathways. which again feeds into this idea that a whiff Samuel sterns, because that's who he was didn't understand his power within. What's he understood is power new I should do power myself so that I can actually grow as a person. which is such a beautiful idea? Even WanNA choose for evil. I could become a better villain like just work my way at the bottom and via better village, which is you know honestly beautiful story there. I am enjoying it I am. This is probably my favorite's immortal hook story. Swallow Lass you? Say! The last one was okay. It was a redemption. Ask for everything I could definitely have done with more absorbing man. But you know I know they don't want to give away for him yet. You know honestly they don't want it to find his hours. Cause undefined powers much more fun. You know it's much more fun. If somebody will the reason he can do. This is because of this this this this. Just. Just singing of his powers are magic base. Fine sure we'll go along with it, 'cause we don't care. Knowing cares if you're sciences, magic, based or your magic base, your magic is science faced. No one really cares they just WanNa, have the fun of the story, so that's good, but yeah. I? We get a shout to stern's brother. Madman this who becomes the hulk later? Even though he wasn't at the test site, so arguably should not be able to infuse power, but having stearns. There was in fact a wreck con later so. what we're saying. Yeah, I mean Y- I mean the the brother was experimenting on? I think in that original countdown story. They said that he wanted to turn himself into another version of the whole. Deal. Even, stearns is obsessed a banner once. He has this intelligence to Oh. Yeah, you know. You obviously boundaries meant to be your thing. We see that that that stearns the one who guides banners dad back to Earth. Cuts, he wants to essentially wants to send a probe. You know I'm not GonNa do that myself, but hey, why don't you go back? See what do? Syrian do kid. Dial? No, that didn't work. But what else cisterns from the deal anyway yeah. I mean I really liked it. I thought it was good. Anything you want to see him the subject No like I said I enjoyed the story. The artwork really didn't do much for me, but yes, I'm. Really. I mean. The artwork was slipping. That whole the whole White Fuzzy Hulk. Don't want a Yeti hoax. Yeah, it doesn't work for me. None of it works for me. US also a Oh a machine, but. As. There's two. There's too much mixing of genres in that olds, no overage character. I didn't need him brought I. Just I. Just I was a different pencils. This issue I really I. Didn't enjoy the art much. The Was Weird, but I love the pencilling the last couple of issues yeah! Thrown really felt the pencils inks worked for this. I? Love how they really embraced all the different genres and styles of the entire length of it. Although I, also will say that they never really Aveda style, so we even get a first Samuel sterns. It is the classic stearns origin it is. But at the same time it's it's in a more modern style. You have him like Oh. Even even the seen. This scene is from the original origin of the of the leader. Himself and he's got the green skin in the large forehead. Looking at in the mirror that's from the original run which I don't even remember which episode was but still. They are grabbing those things in their remaking him and I love the artwork, but that's me I'm you know I'm not an artwork guy? I don't marry myself there. But when you have a good story and to really competent artwork that I'm going to say the artwork was great, 'cause he or work at no point took me out of the story. Yeah, that's what it's supposed to do. It's supposed to feed into the story. Tell the story the same way that the writer tells the story. Bent so for me, it was great. You know but yeah. That was that and. Hey. Can we talk about stargell real? Quick here, yeah! Since. We didn't talk about that on Casal protects certain. I'm really disappointed in Chuck. I felt that okay he saw. The gambler was the one hacking thing. But at no time does chuck CEO, but you know. Of course he's not going to be there or even while they're doing this, we should probably do a check. That's the real threat like I can't drops the ball on this. I mean the the Gambler has something that maybe confused the. So if anyone tried to track, it would bounce a false signal I duNno. I duNNo. We'll definitely the gambler set it up. So that I do think the Gambler is the brains of the outset. That right now. I don't think icicle is I. Think the ice I think icicle is. What I want to do, everything land than. Here's what you got his how you're going to go about it. I think that's what the gamblers doing and so I think when the Gambler is saying to them, you guys the suit up that I need you to do this. And I think he is a expressly making Tigris and squirts master. Who got no love sports master? He is he is. He needs a crowbar. I would like kick the Crowbar from punchline. Say Normal Harley that's not so her and just take sports faster. He's a he's a. he's a bully. Jock yeah. I mean. These? Bully. Just Oh, yeah! We'll both old man is white. His wife because it's like in the beginning, they kill. The kill the football coach. Who benches their daughter? Which is like? You're not helping, honestly say. Regime the the magician guy? Did way less than these. Is this like their coach or something? that. We're just murder people. We're the bad guys. Do, okay, you're not helping this story. You're not really advantageous to us. I think it's time you maybe died. 'cause arguably ICICLES would be the big bat. And nothing else you know. Brainwave.

"If you look at the interface, say well, but all in doing is responding to the Tattoo coming from the program. Take what you think you did before. You know. What do you think? Your lips aft in a certain way in your larynx. Thing in your lungs excel. It's not because you said I will now expo you four point three ounces of out my lungs across my larynx. Joel vibrates in this way. Make My lips nick this. Point. The sound that I desire. No, you didn't do that consciously, did it? Because who are? Is in the program and the interface that you and I have that is the what we call the A. I, but the just the trick floor we ourselves. The midlife crisis. Well the the anyway prices but I. Just thought like Dan Slots writing that in Ironman twenty twenty, and it just seems like you know because in that book Arnott's like run around as iron now every other book. They just they just like that like avengers Tony, we haven't seen anything with or no being ironman. Tony's been ironman the whole time. Because I've read the book, Black Cat Stark, still iron man. 'cause no one knows who aren't always in his. Probably you know it's sort of like how you talk about. You know I know, but it's Dan slot, but it's like me. When he when he when he hit a home run with auto, superior spider man, they couldn't wait the put Superior Spiderman every book, but yeah not here. Because at the end of the because it's nothing i. Better character. More interesting, definitely more complex. In its own way. So, here's the thing. When auto became Peter, she was still Peter. Wasn't pretending. Be Arno Stark, you know. In those situations it was just. Telling. Yeah but it is a situation where it's this that Iran twenty twenty, you have. Tony as mark one or whatever he's calling yourself and you have Arnot and you have this hosing, which is probably just a whole west coast thing. That's why we don't go there for Superhero anymore. You guys are crazy. Please just let auto handle. It. Let handle it, you know. We're seeing New York with a real people are. Even when they're synthetic or completely clone robots, we don't care. We're actually not going to be all wound up an existential crisis about whether or not, we're real. It's like. A streaming sandwich are you're sitting here but down then you're a real person. That's literally all that counts. Do you use Celia real feel reality? If not maybe eat less things that are not Oh! You're killing me. Let's let's do immortal hall. Yeah! Okay Yeah Empire I really liked empire, but yeah, the cody. You're definitely evil, which is very heavily telegraphed. 'cause you know what Carol Denver's Evil Coinstar thinks they're not maybe evil, but Tony Stark. His clearly nuts the holes. So. This is Samuel sterns and his adventures becoming smarter the and how it's not good to be so smart that you think you're smarter than everyone else. which is one of my favorite things about this is the implication. The leader understood Oh. Man I'm so smart. I don't know that I'm not. I'm so smart I. Don't know I'm an idiot. And, so maybe if I went beckoning, idiot and made myself figure out how to be smart again. I'd actually get smarter. I'd actually I'd actually earn my intelligence, which is for what it's worth. The basic crux of the dress part thing you know you were so were worried about whether you. Should and what? It's worth that sort of what Sam stretches is going to. He's like Oh. Man I. figure out anything, but maybe I should figure out how to do how to earn it. How To. Work Myself Back to be told you I love that again. Everything counts so red leader going to. Making a deal with them. All completely part of the story middletown all Middleton Yeah, and in that is the suggestion of the green door. He sees the green door. He wants to get to wants to know. What is he saying? What keeps on kicking him back? which also suggests that real soul as a physical property that can that enter the? Yeah, it's an interesting question when you ask a quick when you look at it metaphysically. Does auto see the green door each time or has auto because he's just a started cracking. Because, 'cause auto didn't auto is a computer programmer. He didn't care. Why the door was there, he just note the doors there. That's the door. I'm going to the door. I don't care if there's agreed with one beneath all things, you say okay fine. This litter. Thank you. I'm going to the door, so. You didn't come up on the metaphysical philosophical concepts. Just said that's the.

We get a shoutout to Stern's brother Madman this who also becomes the hulk later even though he wasn't at the test site so arguably should not be able to ensues gamma power. But having stearns there was in fact a wreck con later so the whole has a lot of taxes. What we're saying. Yeah I mean yeah I mean. The brother was experimenting on himself. I think in that original countdown story. They said he wanted to turn himself into another version of the whole. Oh yeah even. Stringers is obsessed with banner. Once he has his intelligence to you. Obviously batteries thing. We see that that That stearns is the one who guides banners dad back to Earth because he wants to he essentially wants to send a probe myself. But Hey once you go see what you can do. Your kid is your dial. No that didn't work but what else do Anyway yeah I mean I really liked it. I thought it was good. Dave anything you want to say on this subject no like I said. I enjoyed the story. The artwork really didn't do much for me but yeah. Oh Really Oh. I'm you slipping like the whole the whole White Fuzzy Hulk. I'm I don't want a Yeti hoax. Yeah it doesn't work for me. None of it works for me also. "That the Hawk will come out at that point in so this is also kind of dealing with things like Rick Jones. We hope for a bit as idea of new. The government going after and bill in creating new Gabon bombs using banned research Samuel sterns. The leader is trying one. At this point he lost his his powers. Because you know much like he doesn't like the radiation it just. I was losing it during the day. And he lost his power so he's trying to get those powers back so the very beginning of this. Peter David Run He kind of tricks. I don't even want to say tricks. Because at that point the hulk believed it and it was true same helped remove Cornell removed again radiation from Jersey. Wouldn't wouldn't turn into a whole creature and And would help The hulk kind of Berry banner further in himself so that he wouldn't come out could again is always aspect of the competing nature of Hulk and banner of trying to suppress each other and Yeah it's a also then. There's actually a leader. Kim What issue it is. But that's when he says I'll gamma bomb. In Middleton and basic create a whole bunch of new gamma creatures forty three forty five and this is also where the Joe fixit personality in hall comes out the Grey Hulk. He's in Vegas and working as a picture for casino boss top again. This is Peter David. We covered a lot of this rights with Aquaman run Another one of those names you see. These older runs in like the eighties and early nineties. Name give it a re is another one of the things that of giving a writer space and time the whole story he tells a twelve year hulk story here and Yeah like you give them enough and he does so much with it right. He took a lot of these concepts. I think that you built on in valuing room. We talk about nurse run now. Come from this Peter. David run a really kind of digging into the struggle between hawk in and banner So that takes us into the twenty and he has also tells the stories. That marvel did a series of these for for different Different characters so he and the two thousands Peter David told his final Hawk story with Incredible Hawk the end and all these things are on more limited thankfully so you can go and check them.

"A dizzy plus show coming for she hulk so we can will dive more into that when that show we show up but her first appearance is actually in our own book savage she hulk number one in the nineteen eighties. Going to some other key cared here. Dealing with some of the enemies would kind of the big ones the leader Taylor swift honest leader. I wonder yes the leaders. Yeah your with Immoral Hawk arguing. Hell yeah no the leader summer one Samuel sterns again gamma radiation and gives him a incredible intelligence. And now here's the thing is he views. He views the hulk as is not. It's not a mandarin thing where he remainder in view. Tony Soccer Stark as the enemy. M JUST GOT IN THE WAY. The leader views is it. Is He views a hawk as enemy. Not Bruce Banner right okay. Yeah there's always something interesting. I know it sounds weird to some people. They're in the same not to some villains and I think all these right yeah and I think that actually matters here tales us out of ninety show brought US ABOMINATION. A meal was what's it last. Name Ball Ski. Yeah we also have some other ones. Wendy go getting say there. They had that they over memory. We read you know incredible Eighty eighty eight eighty two one. Eighty two eighty. Two are the first appearances that will reign one. Eighty one is the actual first full appearance. Wolverine Hobson there so and also issue where they take a Winnebago Wolverine kind of folded. I guess you could say enemy ally just one of those things of the whole this. They have to fight every they come across each other but then using working together Kinda SORTA and there's one other interesting thing towards like it's never really a fight that over in can willy win the indy. Point 'cause dude you're five three in dog. Come on come on was one interesting I. Define the era run where it was rain in the thing showed up that they could just like walking with you. Don't you guys need more vendors? He's like now when there's a reunion with doctor doom you're dealing with people you call the other vendors dealing with the hockey call.

"His second seat is second. Only all right anyway Sir Yemen so anyway yeah go ahead sir. That's a stupid sex part when it gets to college out. I don't enjoy where they do. The whole scene looks trying to test him and keep him and then he starting to go hall and then they stop it and it looks cool but like I knew who the leader was already here when he when they say his actual name. I'm like I know who you are. I have to look that up afterwards. I had no idea at Samuel sterns on leg. I wonder that's a person so elected leaders. What's really I feel it? Samuel Stern is a mar last name in a marvel marvel movie. That's life for letters and laughs letter via same name. They love stuff like that first name last name. We'll start the same they just. I don't know why but especially early sixties From that was their bread and butter and did anybody else when when when the Samuelson that right Samuelson Samuel Stern was onscreen to first time. I saw him like I cannot stop thinking about. Oh brother where art thou because Oh yeah Oh yeah I think I am a man. I'm like `I legit like after this movie. I'm GonNa Watch brought. It's eleven thirty towed. I've seen part of that movie. Once a longtime ago couldn't get through twenty minutes over. I'm like it's enriched ship off. Give it another chance. It's also like seventeen at the time so you you sixteen. I wasn't the right age. You've grown you've changed. Give it another shot. It's great references. GonNa make very happy. She loves that movie. You know so anyway I mean I I know. The purpose of that scene is to have him deep word so that way because he kind of cures the hulk. He can't become hog. He ends up getting shot by the Say HE TRIED TO ESCAPE. And then the military ended up because they as we said earlier they they were following the emails emails and every time. I hear and go and rush him than the human the tranquilizer at some point and they arrest him and Betty and I thought that was cool. Because then it's shortly after that they start showing you. Samuel sterns real the only part. That didn't get me that everyone gets in the helicopter except for Tim Ralfe. Nobody's like raw now. We got hall. We don't give like nobody's questioning where Tim Roth went to. And that Kinda got me. I'm like wouldn't you be like okay? We got WHO's always meal. Do you do a roll-call check and make sure your soldier guy we don't need we don't need the chiefs. Guy Fuck Him. I felt weird and then he goes in. He does the same experiment and has halts blood injected into him. I don't know if that's how Obama nation has made the comments. I don't care I didn't care enough to fight like that. That whole scene was Kinda I like. He's like he's trying to sandwich. I'll gladly do to convince I don't care like you could die. Give a shit I you don't say those words but it was kind of his mentality. I did like that. Fits fact he is a villain. He's a villain. He's more curious than caution and most things more curious than cautious. He says that you've already got something inside of you. I don't know do might turn into some kind of abomination. He did say that she doesn't early. Like same Iran that we talked about last month where they say newer ironmongers. They have to try to take game. I'll slip it into a sentence without actually calling. It were later on the movie. They just say fuck name. That's your name right. It's funny because I didn't I didn't realize that was his name so for me and I'm like okay and then when I looked up afterwards like oh prominent feely royal brother where thousands seriously hammer that in its early Martin. I didn't know that it goes away. I WANNA say by thor by big. They're done with that shit. That sounds about right yeah. It's called the destroyer the destroyer which I can't talk author. You have like apart after abomination to attorney into about Tim. Robbins do bomb. Nation any escapes. And you have Samuel sterns character fall down in the and he gets his head cut in the hawks blood start dripping onto his head. You can see his head. Start TO EXPAND NESSIE end of that character. He's done. I've had like how they were always feeds for sequels that we never have done not just in the movie but into the entire M. C. You We'd never see that character offense no and then I had to look up and like wait so this guy was clearly thing then I see leader with his giant green forehead like oh. I've seen that guy really smart clearly identified by his great big green forehead. Someone shows her gives you Joe Joe so I had no idea I had to look that up in I was like okay. Well we'll see this guy again and it's just too bad reason why we still don't have another hulk. Movie is Kinda mentioned earlier is at Disney owns hulk using the avengers and anything else that they can't make a Solo Hawk movie without having universal. I think it's universal in charge of distribution. And they don't want to give you. They don't WanNa do that. So they will not make another until that is eventually sorted out. That's the same reason. My Hall cannot Disney plus so they'll just keep making hoax pseudo stars of movies like Thor Ragnarok. Yeah she hauls his coming to because she hawked they. Can you can use. Help fill interesting okay. It's really stupid loophole. That will hopefully someday get thought out. Only once everyone every one one is the exact correct term to use every one. We will all have Mickey Mouse. Barcodes on our armed once. They own all of us here. Let's give him thirty years. Maybe got a job. It's awesome but then you get to the best part of this movie and I am being completely sarcastic and like he gets in the helicopter. The bomb nation becomes abomination. He's running around tearing up the city. Try He's like are you. You're looking for a fight. Or whatever the hell he's saying I don't remember exactly H. I. Not like this part you have hulk you have ever Norton in the plane. And he's like we gotta stop them with the camera. They see abomination destroying the army killing everybody. And he's like you gotta hit me down there and they're finally no we can't know and all this other my nation this movie air for. I didn't really care for this my head I'm like there's no way inhaled. They're gonNa let you jump bottom the fucking helicopter. They captured you. I don't care what's killing everybody like you're coming with us. We don't give a shit we'll have later. I mean at least my in my brain. I'm thinking that's military. You were our mission. Our mission right. Now you're coming with us. And then they jumped off the hell well. He dropped out of the helicopter and live. Tyler is almost ready to fall out of the helicopter which I found out I mean I'm terrified of Heights? Ought to be standing in the back of your good. Bruce. I'll see you later. I thought I get off my chair. Seat belts strapped in everything. That'd be hitting or the BAGEL. I wouldn't be anywhere near that door but I don't know I just thought she's barely holding onto a rope and I want to. I don't know much about helicopter by. I feel like if you're that high up you're not GONNA be a lot of air pressure point at you or something. It's just a movie by. Why am I being critical but sunny jumps out? Then you haven't turned into hall click. That was Kinda cool where he tried to turn green but the medicine won't let him and then he comes to what should be his death and he wakes up and started. Killing people are attacking. It was Kinda cool off. I don't like this whole the the first thing that the bombing as in the first half before hulk intervenes for the same reason the building like the first scene. Talk 'cause it's just a drag on it's like we're GonNa not show you him. We're just GONNA show some of the destruction he's doing this is like Get on with the movies are not it almost two hours at this point? Get it over with. We're in the final asser. Abomination is terribly terribly. Ugly looked into comic version and the cartoon version. I like both of those but this version is is spine sticking out. Just I hate it. I hate everything about it for me. Had A cool or get having cooling body horror kind of thing going on his spine clearly absence galea. We forgot to mention that when they given that the first injection he goes up to the mirror and you can see like his stomach is like caving in because his skin stressing out the back or the spine spine scored ever. Yeah John Carpenter stuff there. It was really had. Actually there's like his legs get bigger like his his joint forums mic compound fracture. I think I saw that unless that was just the beer. I don't know yeah like who's really ugly. I it was gross than I. I actually like quite a bit again. This is me just digging body horror and gross creatures. That was really relented. That's where my brain is. My question is during that scene when their helicopter like you said they were watching footage like the kearns destruction who shooting that. But I thought like who's taking those pictures like the images of them going turtle only get out of here people. Guess me again. I think we should learn by this whole episode. This movie you you gotTa Watch okay but if you look abomination. He looks like a giant ogre or he doesn't look like spine jutting out even later. Personally I always looked like a giant ogre like a Merman. Ogre is what I'm going to call it. Looks like like Super Joker in the Batman Article Silence yes it just it. It didn't do it for me like this whole fight me. I like the. I like that type of stuff in movies and I didn't like it in this movie. I didn't like the whole fighting where they're using the cars and hitting each other and beat Mattie show. It didn't do it for me at all it again. It's one of those classic Superhero Super Villain fight. Right Superhero seems to get a bit of an upper hand revealing gets a major UPPER-HAND SUPERHERO THAN SAYS. Their catchphrase makes the ground shake. Clearly that was that was his undoing. Clearly no it didn't do it for me and I do like it that whole smaller abomination to make it in show that all nations more powerful and bigger and faster and stronger and but yeah. I would've just like I would have just like there was a little more An edge ingenuity ingenuity. I worked for a company called Edge. Annuity so I can't say the word. Engine something edgy nudity. I wish there was a little more cleverness on hawks. Part which would've shown to the viewer how Bruce is starting to learn to control it and use his intellect. Kinda help the situation rather than just hoax mash ground shakes. I say the Catchphrase. And then the games hind against something like that. He smashed entity He smashes him. What else is now? "Yeah hello again everyone welcome welcome back to the Phantom Zone I know we've been away for a little while but how we're back and we're ready to talk some watch men and I'm your you're one of your co host Charles Skaggs back in the fan of zone once again after a long hiatus since we talked the boy season one in review and of course I'm I'm with my fellow Phantom Zone Co host everyone's favourite Phantom zone co host Jesse Jackson how you doing Jesse I am ready I I am I have pulled down my mask yes so that we can talk clearly as we discuss a highly the anticipated somewhat some would say controversial show on Hbo Right Right Yeah Obviously we're going to talk the watchman TV series that just debuted on Hbo just back on October Twentieth Nineteen so this is the first episode we're kind of playing a little catch up but we talked about doing this and so ready to talk about it this was written by Damon Lindelof who in a lot of you know if you're a fan of the TV series lost that aired on ABC and also the movie star Trek into darkness he had a hand in the script of the Second J.J. Abrams movie obviously because of his connection with J.J. Abrams and if you're a fan of the HBO series the leftovers which which I am rich you are I've never seen that series but I know that Christopher Eccleston was in that series he's really good in this I I I recommend all the seasons though I think they stepped up their game season two and season three and it's it's it's a really well done series I like it a lot yeah so Damon Lindelof obviously the show runner behind the series behind watchmen and the first episode that we're talking about here episode one sixty five it's summer and we're running out of ice and which is a line from Oaklahoma with a win gums sweeping the plane yes directed by Nicole Castle who if you're a fan of the FX series as the Americans and I was I love that series so she's directed a lot of episodes for that series so Perfect person to direct watchmen in my opinion absolutely all right and this first episode it is very controversial but it's also very interesting and so I'm I'm definitely looking forward about talking about this with you so if you don't mind Charles I just want to take a couple of minutes you know I just recently was on Dj Knicks Wonderful Series podcast talking about the watchman movie happiness in darkness Yes so what is your give us a little five minute background on your experience with the with the comic and with the movie Yeah Yeah we just talk about that real quick on one of those people back in the in the eighties who actually bought the watchmen comic as came out meeting yes every issue I still have every issue of that series and it's one of my most treasured sh series obviously it's one become one of the the greatest comic book series ever yes and I don't think it's too too off the mark to say that it's one of the most acclaimed gone series ever since then I've bought bought various trade paperbacks and hardcover collections to get really nice collections of it but but I've been a fan from day one I don't know what it was I think it was was just seeing the house. Ads that DC comics was running at the time I thought it was kind of interesting in a of course as I learned about it I learned that the watchmen characters were are actually based off of the old Carlton Comics Characters that DC comics had acquired and originally watchmen was proposed as has a series story with those Carlton Comics Characters we're talking blue beetle captain atom to question and nightshade et Cetera et peacemaker and so on but DC comics obviously have just having just re acquired these characters and just kind of introduced them in crisis on infinite earths wasn't quite ready to kind of already make them a mature right right readers series so they decided okay well we'll just do a version of this characters will kind of loosely adapt this character so so you have Dr Manhattan being a substitute for Captain Atom you have Rohrschack being a substitute for the question you have Ozzy Mandy and ESPN as a substitute for Peter Cannon Thunderbolt you have being a substitute for nightshade and so on so consequently the story was just so fascinating to me and I'm sure you felt the same way yeah I don't remember I'm like you I don't don't remember why I ended up picking this up except that it was the newest thing for DC in I was going to try and and as I shared on Knicks podcast by issue six you're like this is the most depressing series I've ever read you know and and then they you know Lori and you know night out you know they they decided to suspect during night now breakout Roszak out of the prison and you get this kind of back up and I was it is a series I go back to normally about once every year or so and reread you know when they talk about what would be a if you could only bring three or four books into a desert island I always pick watchman because is one of the things because it is so complicated and in intense that each time you read it I feel like you learn something new absolutely because there's so much back matter you know two stories you know supplemental material and then it's just it's such a detailed world and it's only twelve issues and so it's kind of self contained you don't really need anything else yeah and that's and that's what helps make a great series and yeah in adverse lutely wear things that you pick on your third or fourth reading you didn't pick up immediately and I also think it's a really good point you brought up Charles not to get into much much of this but there is a lot of Alan Moore is very vocal about he's he doesn't like any adaptions of the series he he thinks it's a comic book and that had addiction it's yeah yeah nothing else and DC of being a very good business has never let it go out of print they keep the rights but I think it is as he used the Charlton characters there's other people are using characters that is the way the comic industry works so it isn't like he's being treated unfairly right right and he chooses not to be compensated or credit on any adaption but Dave Gibbons on the other hand does how about the art is he yet because the artist Dave Gibbons obviously still associates with that he actually had drawn some artwork for this upcoming series so he's the one who's name still shows up in the credits yes Alan Moore has asked not to have his name associated with it at all oh yeah and everybody's just like okay fine no problem we'll just we'll just credit dave instead and go ahead real quickly and your thoughts on the movie and then we'll get to the first episode series Yeah Yes obviously we're we're not GonNa talk about the movie you just talked about it on happiness and dark out so so yeah The Two Thousand Thousand Nine Zach Snyder movie a lot of people I know aren't fans of it because it's Snyder I actually liked the movie I think it's as it as an adaptation film adaptation I think it tells the story very well the problem is I think a lot of people feel that that it's too slavish to the original source material so it just kind of seems like a kind of a movie by numbers and you know a lot of people had that complain complain about the early Harry Potter Movies Right and and I think you're in a no win scenario when you are dealing with an when you're adapting such a beloved did source material you have to be very careful because if you change it too much you're going to get people screaming alright leading murder but if you do it too close you go while you're not adding your own depth and I think as the Harry Potter movies grew up and went to different directors rectors I am not someone who beats Christopher Columbus I think the success of the series allowed them to do other things and I think because because this was so beloved you know Snyder had to do what he wanted to but now then Damon Lindelof to get us through the series he's a little bit of time and he's been able to okay I'm GONNA uses as my source material but I'm going to expand several years after that world and talk about what youth and stories in that world right when when Lindelof originally released what I want to call like what a manifesto I love that yes where he's basically telling his I like this is his reasoning for for for doing watch many said he he says he really respects the original source material and he said he used this as a remix I don't view it as a remix what it is you know despite what Lindelof says this is a thirty a sequel set thirty years down the road from the now he says the original story of from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Sacrosanct it's essentially the platform where this the universe is based but it's the story being set in the Modern Day in two thousand nineteen obviously isn't that same same story is just continuing what happened before kind of essentially catching us up on what's been going on in the watchman universe over the past past thirty years since the original storyline and so so I don't view as a remix it's a sequel it's a sequel set thirty years down the road yeah and I will tell tell you so far I am very pleased with the series I in fact that's one of the reasons why we're pulling being phantom zone out of its high it were dusting it off putting it together because I'm loving this so much this is something we want to talk about and and I'm I'm really appreciative that you're willing to talk about this with me all right so you have do you have some topics for a serve well for well I don't want to run down to the cast really quick leisure because this is the first episode so So really quickly obviously this this new TV series Stars Regina King as Has Detective Angela Abar Aka sister night who am essentially is a vigilante working with police force she's actually on the essentially in this in this setting a two thousand nine hundred the police are the vigilantes they're the ones that have I've decided to mask themselves in order in order to protect their identities so that their loved ones can't be harmed and Virginia King The star of the show you made a a lot of people may know her from a lot of different projects I personally started she hit my radar because I'm a fan of the animated series the Boondocks and she voices the characters Riley and Huey Freeman on that show and so very talented actress I know she's been a lot of different things but I was really intrigued by her or casting and I think from this first step so right from the get-go she's going to be under Emmy consideration has to be I would think absolutely I searched should be yeah I she was in twenty four I really liked her in Southland she has a she was very good in the leftovers and then she she plays a very funny the HR lady the Big Bang Theory very fun part on that yes so this is a really she's a very strong lead need and I and I was really glad to see that she was done yep so some of the other cast I'll just run down to them really quickly so he can get into our topics Don Johnson send plays jet Crawford he's really great in this episode obviously now a lot of people know him per playing Sonny Crockett on Miami vice he's been a a lot of different things Tim Blake Nelson who plays looking glass who's very enigmatic If you're a fan of the incredible hulk movie that came out the one that was that set in the marvel cinematic universe he played doctor Samuel sterns turns who eventually becomes the leader one of the hulks arch enemies in the comics he was in that Mui and he does a completely I mean he's just completely unrecognisable from the incredible hulk and in this role where he's doing this draw serious heavy drawl all of it Tulsa accents and it really comes through it's a great performance by him yeah yeah yeah he he comes across as kind have a little bit country a little bit country bumpkin but that's a persona he puts on you know and you know we're only going to be talking about episode one so we're not gonNA try to go in but we both seen both episodes so that may context our discussion should the characters yeah obviously playing catch up here so we'll try to just focus on episodes Also yeah yeah Abdul Mateen the second who you may remember remember recently from the Aquaman movie he played Black Manta nine o'clock movie so that's probably where you see him he plays Calvin Cal Ibar Angela's husband We've got Andrew Howard as Red Scare Jacob Ming. Trent is panda Tom Mason who was recently on the TV series sleepy hollow plays Mr Phillips Sarah Vickers as Miss cruikshanks and then Louis Gossett junior as will read very enigmatic character we want to talk about here in.

Just Davis sixty five dollars raising two hundred and fifty million giving the fem market value of ninety four billion dollars. One invest is clearly believe this is a sector with huge potential for growth. So why exactly the question for j Milton food industry expert a number of things coming together at once? So people wanting to move to products that they see as more sustainable, people realizing that. Might all particularly red meat that we had been saying certainly in the west type become district portion it in our diet. And it was an unsustainable thing it Kohls far more in times of food that you've got to into novel to get kilo of meat back. Then it does if we were eating those grains and things so there's that sustainability go which has an environmental as well has driven people to look for something different numbers are people who are choosing to eat less meat either for health reasons for themselves or because they're concerned the environmental impacts number of different things. There are figures show something in the UK last year that fifty six percent of people were eating some meat free meals across the six month, period. Now that was the case if you years ago. That is a sentiment that we're seeing in a number of countries, but it's younger people in some ways during it for one reason different groups of people and is a bit like a quiet store of what does this mean for for traditional mate supplies? They tried to move into this as well. You are seeing a number of companies investing companies are known for their meat products in the U K UN's in in the states companies like Tyson the state's investing in meat free. So definitely they are thinking there will be either less available in terms of actual resources available to them to sell to people or less bound for it. Unsold their old king at meat free. And you can see number of Unilever's, and these companies have invested meet three products as well that oversee it is something that they are predicting we'll carry on you tried one of you. A lot of those products. There are some phenomenal products. Definitely if you are if you're wanting to reduce the amount of meat you eat, but you've been very dependent on eating meat if you can find other things like it. Then it's a straight. Swap you take the beefburger you're meals on you put one of these burgers. And so you don't have to learn a whole new set of king sales or anything to do it.
