"Cases that the one that got a lot of attention. Last two weeks is in South Carolina, where Samantha Josephson was murdered after she got into the car of somebody that she thought was a route driver turned out not to be over driver at all. What do you what do you make of these types of stories? Yeah. Good morning. John. Great to be with you in Richmond. Richmond with my home. My second home for a long time. So right, right. Well, my dad actually lived in Richmond for many years. It's not a lot of time there. The people are wonderful just you know, the history and everything so I'm just so like. You know, when you come back and take it take drinker dinner, some absolutely, you know, this story is incredibly upsetting because it's something that is so prevalent, especially for people like me who don't have cars. You know, we rely on Uber and lift to get around. Now. Legis interesting here, this is Carolina, which is one state that in several states do not require front license plate. Okay. Now, Virginia, my mom. You know, she's in Virginia to she has the plate on the front. The back. Alleviate. I'm telling you John Levy at the law. The problem is because you see the Uber. You look at the front, and then boom, you can identify the license plate on the car with the license plate on your app, and that's your first hurdle of security. Now, this young woman, there's a few factors that unfortunately led to perfect crime. And first of all there's no front license plate second of all to A m. Okay, she's coming out of a bar. So we don't know what she consumed. If alcohol had any type of influence on her, you know, her cognitive abilities. And I'm sorry to say, but we all have also responsibility to be vigilant to be careful now, South Carolina. They're introducing legislation that would require dry share vehicles display illuminated time. Because right now, the only thing they have is reflective stickers. And it's not an. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's the that that seems like it's just it's a step in the right direction. But when it's put into place in a practical sense, especially with the the practical realities of the hours, and the circumstances that people find themselves in that is just that that it's not enough. I upheld yesterday that maybe they should have everybody gets a a codename or, you know, almost like, you're you're a, oh, well, no Email name that you would say Uber for me. It would be like a Johnny thunder or. Here's Johnny thunder. Pulling up to drive me to my next location. That you're in the right car. Still have to take into account. Johnny thunder able to recall that it's eight forty in the morning, right? Talk in the morning. Honestly, if you are any braided, how how much are you going to read every little thing on your phone license plate the color, and the make of the car, and all these things now, this is the this is something I found out which I did not know until the crime occurred and that is Google. Uber says that they run federal multi-state and county criminal background checks on their driver's. However, they do not use fingerprints to establish again affiliation. They say the other things like social security numbers. And I have a huge problem with this. You know for former prosecutor criminal defense attorney life-long devoted to criminal Justice. And for me. Fingerprints are the ultimate tool to establish identification. Yeah. And and we have case after case f case where you know, an employment law people just make things up or they steal data from other individuals name so security number. I think you've identified a big loophole that even if even if the companies are trying the reality on the ground as they gotta find another way to verify Sima, hire former former prosecutor and one of the anchors on the new court TV, I will tune in. And check you out. Thanks, john. Do let us know what you come back to Richmond. That's exciting to talk to somebody nationally. It was who. Thank you. Six forty two on this Monday morning. Let's check on.

"So you've heard about this story in South Carolina. A young twenty one year old university of South Carolina senior named Samantha Josephson got separated from a roommates during a night out in Columbia. And so she called an Uber, and she's waiting on the side of the road apparently car pulls up she thinks that it's her over vehicle, and she hops in and then the next thing, you know. The next morning Turkey hunters, find her body and she's dead. So apparently, she really made a mistake and got in the wrong car and the driver of that car. We are being told is responsible for killing her. So I I. What what kind of awful luck is it to get into a vehicle with somebody who is. Even slightly inclined to kill you. I have been out and accidentally tapped on the window thinking, it was my neighbor. And it's not in the person waves you off I've been driving my explorer in DC at one o'clock in the morning and have had people open the doors and get in thinking for some reason that I was driving their Uber. And I've had to say, hey, guys. This isn't a Newburgh get out and one of them was a belligerent drug. So it happens on a regular basis. I I mean, I don't I don't think this is a rare occasion the rare occasion is that. It's a guy who kills you. When you get in the wrong car, and I've often thought take the murderer aspect out of this. I've wondered why Uber doesn't come up with some sort of identification. That would resolve this. You know, you have a sign in your window that you have an Uber side. But you don't have a like if I were driving. Maybe I call myself JR or something. So I put a sign that says Uber. The specially made that says Uber JR. So that when I win the passenger the potential passenger looks at their phone. They're like, oh, well, I'm looking for a Ford Explorer, and I can identify it. Because the last the the beginning of the license plate is usually blocked you can use to see the end of the license plate. But a big sign that says JR so that it's very clear that you're Uber's pulling up and that it's yours because most of the time, and let's be honest. A lot of people who are using Uber are drunk college towns and late at night. It's hard to read the license plate. I mean, for goodness sakes, can you identify from a distance which car is which Ford Explorer versus a rabbit for whatever, you know, other vehicles out there that might help resolve the problem a minute. It adds a step to the licensing process. But it also makes it a little easier perhaps to identify who's there and avoid a mistake. But this this will get a lot of attention, and maybe force Uber to examine. How they handle the pickup thing. But it's a warning never just hop in a car with somebody unless you were sure who you're getting in the vehicle with with with whom you're getting in the vehicle. Okay..
