"Colombia on Tuesday ordered the arrest of former President Alvarado re bay who's one of the country's most powerful politicians. Many Colombians adore rebate for leading a military offensive against Marxist guerrillas. But he has long faced allegations of human rights abuses. Here's reporter John Otis during his two terms as Colombia's president Alvarado Bebe's hardline security policies badly weakened the guerrillas who eventually signed a peace treaty. After he left office in 2010. Reba was elected to the Senate and helped elect the next two Colombian presidents. Followers really believe that he is the greatest Colombian ever to. I don't know to walk on Columbus. That's Paulie Martinez, a columnist for the Colombian newsmagazines, Samana. She points out that rebates presidency was also plagued by scandals under Areva's watch. Army troops killed thousands of innocent civilians then claimed they were guerilla fighters Rebates Intelligence agency spied on journalists, opposition leaders and Supreme Court judges. His current troubles stem from allegations that during the war rebased supported the formation of paramilitary death squads. Federer: WTA/ATP Should Merge - our reaction; John Millman nearly retired, then beat Federer - our interview
"Hello everybody another tennis. Podcast for you won't we weren't planning to bring you a couple of days ago but you know we just can't get enough of this and the so much going on and yes okay. There's no tennis but the stuff to talk about and we've got an interview with Joe Millman for you so we'll have that later but Catherine is here. Catherine David Selamat had David and the reason. We're convening altogether now. Not just having the Joe Millman interview which had been the original plan until about four hours ago is about twelve twenty eight pm today. Russia Federa- tweeted and what he tweeted was just wondering am I. The only one thinking that now is the time for men and women's tennis to be united and come together as one at which point Catherine and I wanted whether this was a teaser to a bit of content that might be coming out between the two tours because they've been producing causes loss of that and then I thought it can't be that cooked because I mean we've had instagram and lives law but moments later he said I'm picturing a merger between the WTO and the ATP I'm not talking about merging competition underscores but merging the two governing bodies the. Wta that oversee the men's and women's professional tours it's too confusing for the fans when there are different ranking systems different logos different websites. Different tournament categories. It probably should have happened a long time ago. But maybe now is really the time these tough times in every sport and we can come out of this to weaken bodies or one stronger body. Now when you hear that when you read that out loud that is pretty strong stuff catherine and and have to. I mean okay. We've been moving towards that in terms of little bits of Combined content under brand of tennis united. And we've had a heard an interview that has been put our way by the of their new seat in the new chairman and drag at NC Talkin about more and more collaboration. But for Roger Federer to come out apparently unsolicited and just say it's time to merge the tolls that was bombshell stuff ready wasn't it behold this novel an exciting idea. Yeah it was pretty bombshell stuff. I mean obviously. It's a good idea. Obviously Reid you. The way you read out these tweets. That sounds entirely sensible great. Let's do it. I'm trying not to be Aussie and SNIFFY ABOUT CERTAIN ELEMENTS OF THE STORY. And the way it's developing and being told that is happening on twitter. I'm trying to be a bit. Socially distanced from tennis twitter. I say that with heavy equities because it makes me shudder a little bit But it can be a bit of a toxic place and I'm trying to not be embroiled in it but this whole story has dropped exclusively on tennis twitter sort of had to be reeled back in the sort of arms race to claim claimed territory and claim claim that. This was their ideal. This is the first time anyone had this idea. The facts that you know of one suddenly sitting up and taking native destroy quality when a man shouts about it. All of those things I there is a part of me that wants to be about the the. Oc posted me often wins. But I'M GONNA try and be utilitarian about it and think. Look if if this is how the right thing ends up happening then then fine you know and I'm I'm going to echo do some shadowing echoing into something that you're going to say in relation to a different issue Later in the POD. He's talking about the distribution of wealth and prize money among top level players which is now suddenly a a a burning topic or among plays in general and he says look. I can't believe it's taken a pandemic for for this to be taken seriously and for the real powers that be to consider addressing it. Will I feel exactly that way about the the unification of The governing bodies but hey it took countless examples. They were able to for the. Nhs happened say if the ends justify the means then great. I'm going to suppress for once my RC side. I slightly wants to be able to read that. Billie. Jean King's response on twitter to Roger Federer in the in the sort of tone of voice that you began that that line yourself because what she actually says is I agree and have been saying. So since the early nineteen seventies she. I reckon she didn't say it like that. I kind of wish you had. And then she goes on say one voice women and men together has long been my vision for tennis the WTI on its own was always planned. Be I'm glad we're on the same page. Let's make it happen Hashtag. One voice is what Billie Jean King replied with Samana. Halla Patrick Evita Gubbay. Meru all tweeted support for what Roger Federer had to say and then I found the Dow tweeted. Hey Roger Federa- as you know per hour discussions. I completely agree that it would be great to get out of this world crisis with the Union of men's and women's tennis in only one organization which yeah suddenly makes all of this same quite premeditated between the two of them will maybe more than two of them. We haven't had anything I should say on this subject from Novak. Chuck rich the president of the council at this point. But it doesn't feel like this is just some using that Roger. Federer has just done while he's bored in lockdown as such A. It sounds as though it's been given quite a bit of thought he's had this chat so we've been reminded of this press conference. The rough on the Dow was involved in in two thousand nine hundred Australian Open when he responded to questions about whether he thought that should be a combined organization between the deputy. Atp with just telling us a misunderstanding. So he doesn't didn't understand really why that would be a good idea why we should talk about that. Why why that should be on the agenda And so this is a very very different tone now. Obviously we weren't in the middle of a global pandemic at that point. The world looked very different. It may it may well be that people who had previously never given a second thought to a combined organization of Sydney. Actually th. That's the way out of this. That's a good idea and got to be ready for that. But it's it's pretty stark. Isn't it the difference in town? Yeah I mean elements of needles. Tweet genuinely made me laugh out loud. First of all any suggestion that Is Great is his. English is Spanish as a first language adult composed. Hey at Roger Federer as per discussions. I mean absolutely no way. Is That tweet composed by Rafael Nadal? Himself as per I've ever seen his tweets to Anna Ravenna. Vish venevision join twitter. He said I look forward to our discussions on this means of communication when it was back in the early days of twitter. It was really sort of formal. And it's like a tweet anyway. It kind of reminded me of that one. Yeah so I mean yeah I mean that's not anything. Groundbreaking is that. He didn't necessarily compose himself. And if I was tweeting in a second language I would probably ask for some assistance as well. We've got to eat so I'm not having a pulp about that. But it the the sort of the attempt to say this. This was my idea too. I this came from a discussion that we both had. I was in on this too. That made me laugh because yeah I mean he. He kind of gets a slightly on it from me included because I think I kind of write him off of somebody. That's just not not hugely engaged with the with the wider. She's in Tennessee. And he kind of mice to the time brushes off interrogation about them as sort of. Oh you'll have to ask other people that are that are better informed and have have moose stake in it than than me. I'm not the best person to speak to you. That that clip. That's going around on twitter from the loss. Jesus straighten open is a good example of that. But the fact is he. He hasn't been supportive of equality in In Women's Tennessee's very much market forces based approach T. V. Prize money in the tools etc. So yeah this is. It's a bombshell.

"Ninety so does the pre-game for your state of the union twenty nineteen I just received. Mallory brought it in here. All these special guests for the president and first lady Melania for his second state of the union addresses, twelve guests listed here. Covering all sorts of different facets of politics from a family of. Survivors, I guess of a family that was murdered by an illegal immigrants to a man who get out of prison. I admire the president for getting behind this. One of his guests is a man who was sentenced to thirty five years in prison while in prison, he really improved himself mentored fellow inmates. He's going to be announced in the state of the union and even a kid named Joshua Trump. He's a sixth grade student Wilmington Delaware who's been teased at school because of his last name. So this all started with Ronald Wilson Reagan in nineteen eighty-two, obviously with Lenny studt, Nick just two weeks ago in the midst of a terrible tragedy on the Potomac. We saw again the spirit of American heroism at it's finest the heroism of dedicated rescue workers fading crash victims from icy waters. And we saw the heroism of one of our young government employees who when he saw a woman loses her grip on the helicopter line dived into the water and dragged her to say, Michael Steele is a former RNC chairman you see him on MSNBC is a podcast Samana steel. And here's a guy that sat in the meetings, preparing the state of the union what had to be included what could be left out nowadays. It's impossible. Not to go upstairs and reference a lot of Americans is this theater necessary in this day and age. You know, that's a very good question w congratulations, by the way on the news on the new spot and all the best to you, my friend. Together for a while back with you. You know, not all of these addresses are created equal not all of them are f you hear you save yourself. Did we really need to do that? But you know, it is part of the protocol. I think I think president going forward need to assess whether or not an actual formal address before the congress in the nation is necessary or they can do as was the early founding of our nation. The president could just send a letter a note to the congress of stating what it is going to be released to the post, anyway, etc. But we it will help us get away from some of the things that we've fallen into. The last thirty or so years that have made this less about the real state of the nation and more about the politics of the nation. If you were advising the president. And you know, you know, how extemporaneously he speaks at times, especially on a big stage, would you advise him to stick to the script tonight or a freelance a little? I would have I would advise Trump to stick to the script largely because when he goes off script he tends to tell us what he really thinks. And that may not given the sensitivities right now on the hill in the country. I think what the what the country needs to be here is just this is the this is the block here here. We are going to give you this. When he starts going down that road where he's sort of gives you how he really thinks about something as opposed to what's prepare text says. Take your lights it in a way that sometimes wind up sort of countering fire say starting when you look back in the you know, the years you were with the RNC CNN advising the president. How to put the state of the union together is storage. Obviously, you knew what has been done previously. What are some of the historical big wins? And what are some of the historical big wis? Well, I'll tell you. You know, what was what was interesting for me? Very interesting big win in in one of the most ironic state of the union addresses, the one given by Joel Ford in nineteen seventy five after Watergate the fall of water. Watergate you start at that address that Maceda you that the state of the union is not good and everybody was like. Wow. And he just went on and laid out the this is goes back to my point. You've laid out the real state of the union that was the message. He could not deliver in a letter. He had to stand before the country and say those words so that we. We could begin the healing process of from Watergate in the Vietnam war, and then he came back the next year. And Denise say the state of the union is better. But still not great. Right. Exactly. And so I always credited for his his honesty. You know, I, you know, it's hard to decide, you know, the state of the unions that are that are bad or flop. I think for example, Bill Clinton did did harm to his state of the union addresses by their length. You know, when you're going to hour and a half just suffer lose, you kinda lose your audience after forty five minutes, and if you can't and to your point about extemporaneous speeches because he went off script so much the speech got mired in a lot of extra analogies that again took you away from the central theme of what he was trying to. Discipline was not his strong suit. Michael what about Bush right after nine eleven the next year. The next February. He's that's one is access of evil. I remember sitting up and thinking of what we call three nations by name. Yeah. Powerful speech, again, another very good state of the union address coming but like nineteen seventy five for four coming on the heels of national crisis. This one though was international in in in the sense that we get outside forces that that attacked us. And and and we were engaged in big battles globally. Bush set the tone, and that's what these dresses do. They they're not just a laundry list of what I'd like to get done in the next year. They really do set the tone for where you wanna go. I'm hearing from the White House say that it's all going to be about unity. What happens? I Michael Nancy Pelosi smiles at something the president says or Mike Pence actually blinks. You got me on that. With that's going to be tight. That's gonna be. That's gonna be a tight with Mike Pence is certainly he has perfected the Nancy. Reagan adoring stare hasn't. He he's got. He's got that stare down. For sure that's that's the best way for him to play it. I mean, really just Justice. You know, smile smile and nod nod love it. Yeah. But you know, I think you know, Nancy is a little bit on the spot tonight because sitting over the over the president's left shoulder she's going to have to you know, check her face. You know, she can't. And he's going to have to show a rather a good level stoicism when she when the when the president says something that either she would otherwise, well, or is that the cameras are going to be paying her the cameras also going to be focused on, you know, those Democrats running for president and their immediate reaction to what the president says as well, all it is going to be a lot of showboating perceives it showboating with those presidential hopefuls. But you gotta be careful because that how the public reads that I wonder if Cory Booker will strip off his shirt, never real Spartacus moment. You say you went there. He made he made this come in building the sword. Exactly. Michael. Thank you, sir. Are you on tonight? Are you doing the post game? I am. I I am I start on MSNBC immediately after the speech and go till about one in the morning, dude. Are you going to be able to get a word in edgewise against Chris Matthews? I I will. I will. I'm sure. Well. All right. Thank you for your time. I think about a former RNC chairman, Michael Steele. Joining us here on double doubles, right after six o'clock. We'll have plenty of room for your phone calls. We'll make way for you at three one two five nine one eight hundred on what you want to hear from the president tonight. Coming up next a little preview of your Chicago auto show with none. Other than Jennifer Keiper, straight ahead..

"So part of the way that works is it uses non speech audio rather than spoken instruction. So it's not like the term attorney instructions that make you stupid when you're driving your car, and you can just give short-term rather. It uses sound becomes the to head towards the help you navigate. But it also helps build up a mental model of the space cool without going into that. But which is pretty cool because if you do it, right? You can unlike when you're listening to the Grateful Dead. Another back reference or the dark side of the moon with your headphones on in those cases, the sounds are spatial, but they're twenty years inside the head, but with with single procession, you didn't put them out in space, so they integrate into the physical world, and they can be locked in space a matter how you turn your head sta- station are ending. And so this is already cool way to use your cons as opposed to icons and other non speech audio cues and their free still have conversation. So Amos decided well, heck if we can do this on land. Why don't we put virtual beacons out on a late Samana Shera just outside of Redmond and will put Canham kayaks and have a sighted person of front just for safety the the vine person back with a headset. And then the skipper, and they're stirring doing things. And so they had to run a course to the stub triangular coarser on these invisible beacons. And. And the cool thing is is that not only that everybody. Do it the never kayak before which was kind of funky. But when you put two cited people in a kayak and gave them the headset. They have hopeless of the bind people beat them. Wow. So the the Katie about this is not as it gives you another perspective in terms of what's. This ability sounds up for the what people are capable of. And also what technology into but? It also says we've got always late superpowers and he go off into the edge conditions you come up with solution. Which in fact, has very strong implications for the general population. So for example, now, the means that if you're walking around. Coming to King's Cross station London. And you're trying to go to University College London. It's a lovely walk but dislike walking through a rabbit's Warren. And there's all this people architecture people drive on the other side streets here. I'll get killed visual at the wrong way. The long time. And you're walking around with your phone in front of you, very in the in the map and trying to listen to things which you can't here. And you can't social you can't look around you all can go in. And you can just have audio cues that given the directions Dolika thank tourist of your. 'cause nobody tells that you don't know where you're going to walk in his confidence because you do know where you're going because you have the long term view as well as short term, and you can hold a conversation because your cortex is free. The question of deals with the speech management has opposed to non speech and you'll get there in sin trusting how by pushing.

"Toray the fact is that this came from as you know, I'm a row. Samana goat was chosen by Mr. Trump to represent him as a liaison to the black community. Hence Senator Mike convention reached out to many of us. Many times went to black journalists and all. She's the one saying she heard to take this is a Trump former Trump supporter. So this is not me sing. He's raise everybody knows my position on Mr. Trump, in course, dues read about that. We're talking about her saying, there's a, I want to go back to the beginning of the segment where you play Sarah Sanders. Sarah Huckabee Sanders live every single day on behalf of Donald Trump. This issue. She will not lie about on this. She's like, well, we don't know. I can't guarantee. I mean, if he's on tape, saying the n. word then her lying about it would be the least of their problems. But even given that she's like, I'm not. Lying about that. I don't know. We'll find out together, but look, we don't need to hear him saying the n. word to know he's racist. He has one of the longest resumes of racist behavior and rhetoric in this entire country, not just among politicians, but just among people. This is the king birtherism. This is the man who's attacking the NFL constantly. This is a man who stands on black people's necks so that he can appear Toler to white people, white nationalism and white entitlement were at the basis of his campaign. We don't need any more evidence. The jury is in No MR Stewart you. You've running for Senator in a state that has a large Braque population, and you and I disagree, but we invite you on and let me ask you something since you have so many black citizens in Virginia and you offering them to be there Senator. How do you define racism? I mean, you save me about in the level was yield race. You called me a race beta. How do you define racism. You know, I gotta tell you something as showroom for Jinya. All right. Okay. All right. I'm not trying to be condescending here. Well, I'm just trying to explain what I've seen out there and that is that as I go round, Virginia people are not obsessed with race. The way that you are in the rest of the left wing media. Ask you this, the five vases but defined think racism, wait a minute. Women. I want him to tell me what is racist? Do you believe there is a thing call, racism? What is it. Of course, it's using racism basis to treat somebody differently in a very negative way the way you would treat somebody else of a different now. So. But that still exist because we still see even in her strong economy, blacks, Astill, doubly, unin void to white. We still seeing the criminal Justice system, any number of studies even under the Republicans that was sentenced more. So when you say this obsession on the left with grace, if we are according to data, even by Republicans, administrations, discriminated against and you happen to be born black or Brown, you're not obsessed with it, you I, it, you have to deal with your reality. Well, let me ask you this. Then we have a president that because of his economic policies, the economy is booming along and we have the lowest unemployment rate ever for African American country. Doug still president to racist it is still doubled that to white it is Satan a better under this academy and his started under President Obama. He inherited the trend, but we've still w unin away. I'm glad you brought it up. What is Trump's programmed in to bring that down where we are no longer doubly unemploy. How does he close that gap. Well, I'll tell you that he's closing that gap. He's he's raising everybody up how government. Kinda get do is he going to have affirmative action? I mean is raising going. Oakland is everybody's going. Everybody's equally rain, w unemployed. If it's equal radio. All right. So let me let me put out a couple of statistics out there for you rental real wages. You know. Planet. All right. Go ahead. Good. I wish on your show, but I wish you let me talk once in a while. You have to say. How we're going to make eight qualley those they could get jobs in this country. You have the float. "Yeah perfect for the hardware let us know what you think about this star fox news lays and gentlemen i hope it happens because sounds great to me next news story this comes from jason schreier over rage to officially announced the announced trailer is out now the gameplay trailer will premiere tomorrow this will be developed by avalanche studios the studio responsible for the twenty fifteen open world mad max game the first rage developed by software and released twenty eleven received mediocre reviews in two thousand twelve as reported it software was planning its own version of rage to before but cancelled it and refocus the studio on the new doom which was going through a brutal development cycle thanks to some reboot samana changes and a lot of talented people it software recovered to release twenty sixteen doom a highly regarded new entry in the series that wound up on the top of many game of the year list so why would to make new rage game for starters but does the marketing boss pete hines friend of the show has teased it suggesting that the first rage sold well enough to justify a sequel as he saw we saw from last year's pray which had nothing to do with the i pray and which many developers are kane didn't actually wanna call pray but that's not like throwing away it's old brands even when they're hopping between studios shahnawaz ideas woohoo woo hoo watch that trailer i did watch the trailer is lots of purples and pinks.

"Before they purchased one hundred and twenty seconds absolutely in his interesting is that this is a starbucks that they frequented often right and and for those i'm a starbucks person every single morning in samana out there i go i go to starbucks every single morning you're a triple vendela tag i'm gonna americano americano day almond milk will list splash please when i go to that starbucks in and this is why as soon as i saw the video as soon as i saw the hashtag boycott starbucks it took me two minutes it took me two minutes to write a post that said i don't like with the cops the cops reacted to this i don't like the store managers called the police on them but i do not believe starbucks as a company will stand for this and i trust that they will react accordingly the right way so here's where one of the main reasons i wanted to have you in is because starbucks responded there's a quickly they've we've had an expert on the set he doesn't believe a university of washington professor that wrote literally wrote the book on implicit bias is really going to do much but starbucks had to do something they did something it seems like i don't know what else they could do these gentlemen said they wanna have a seat at the table from your perspective is there more like what more this could starbucks do.

"Well so this is the cool part so i'm sure you've been to the doctor in and you got some kind of sinus infection it gives you samana biotics and he goes whatever you do you must finish these antibiotics right like or like if you don't kill them dead man they're coming out back with a vengeance right and so what's going to happen is the bacteria will evolve they will figure out how to circumvent the antibiotics and then they're buoyed and then you lost the arms race like now you're in real trouble right so so so in nineteen forty four a lady named barbara mcclintock she was doing these experiments with corn plants and she was hack she was trying to hack the corn plants she had this idea of what she thought it might do in so she's damaging dna with radiation and she's growing these corn plants and she's watching to see what happens and so she damaged the certain part of the dna and an analogy would be let's say that i give you a mystery novel with page one hundred sixty seven completely ripped out okay and and you if you went to a really good writer if you'd said to that guy all right i went to read everything before and after this part of the novel and i went to fill in page one sixty seven which with what you think belongs there so that all makes sense nobody would notice that we ripped anything out a good writer could probably figure out how to do that right right well this is what the plant did the plant to different bits and pieces like game going to take this gene over here in this coding sequence over there and i'm going to take a piece from this chromosome in put together this new coding sequence in it replaced page one hundred sixty seven and then it went on to reproduce which it couldn't reproduce with the current damage okay in this this.

"Yet the the the speaker think could be cool to if you had a lot of sprinkler systems like if you have a yard are set with timers they're very basic and so sometimes you drafted the neighborhood and sprinklers are going as pouring down rain because the things on a timer in his too stupid to notes raining as it i could see a world in which the stuff like knows about the weather so hey if it hasn't rained in twenty four hours and is this time than run sprinklers for you know x x number of minutes or something so it's about making you know dump stuff smarter and not just light bulbs anymore but uh but in sorta outsized of tuesday i think this is great i bet that there is some some like senses that you could put in the ground as well where it that could sense the the drunk shallow worse is conical q all code and nfc pairing is a new addition for home care i was eleven citizens officials support preparing viva method so this probably explains some of the changes that run the workouts last had to be to be sita samana see related stuff right that's yacht is changing is it that the phone can become a rita was that what it was which is high guy can you i can basically pair with a nearby nfc device it's not the full integration that some people were hoping for but it's a it's a good step forward and the q our code stuff is actually a mile like a system why change the the ias camera canal detect any kind of kyar code and whether that secure coded the the contains link so you gotta once the camera finds a car code you get a banner that prompts you to open the lincoln safari or it can even be besides a home kit device you can also be a wifi network so when you can the cure code like behind a route or so usually on the bottom of the box are you get a prompt that allows you to quickly pair with the new wifi network so you don't need to do the whole manual set up which is currently yup i look forward to interacting with billboard advertisements.
