Fresh update on "sam" discussed on Schopp and Bulldog

"The Bulldog here soon to be joined by Sam Monsoon of pro football focus. Trey White will play this year after not choosing the opt out option by today's four PM deadline. We know from yesterday that white In his word was undecided about whether to play and there wasn't any sort of Hint this morning or early this afternoon about what would happen, But again, Sam Johnson from pro football focus. Hi, Sam. This is good news. Isn't it real good? Huge. I mean, that had the potential to be the single biggest off that of any any player, I think in the NFL so far, so for Buffalo Dodged That bullet I gases is a massive thing for this team. You've kind of been somewhat in the middle of conversation about his his value his performance last year, maybe more specifically. I know I've read the defense of back backfield Rankings at Pff bills came in seventh there. What is your summary of how good he is and his performance last year? Yeah. I mean, I think you know, Pfff has been on the side of you know, it's time to break a little bit entre devious white. You know, I have one talked about him being Ah, ah, on all pro caliber player, His numbers were spectacular. You know, six interceptions, No touchdowns alive. That's kind of a headline figure that everybody uses. But I think the point is just I think those numbers flattered his performance a little bit, But there's a world between saying You know, he might not be quite as good as his numbers were last season on DH that it wouldn't be a problem. If they lost him. He's still one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. I think he's got all the ability to be as good as the best corner backs in the NFL. He's a well rounded player. You can play in mine on his own system. You can do whatever it is you needed to do. He's got ball skills. I got a ton of pass breakup on top of the intersection. He's gotten his career. So Yeah, he got the complete skill set to be a top level cornerback. I just think that he got beaten a little bit more last season than than the numbers would suggest. Is another part of, you know, tempering. Ah, you know, rankings or in tempering enthusiasm about just how great white is. Is any part of that, Sam what the bills asked him to do you mentioned he can play man or zone. But it is usage any part of that at all. Not really. I mean, it's one of the things that some people say is that look, he's he's in a system that essentially asked him to play soft and give up catch is in front of him, and the defence keeps plays in front of them. But those aren't the place that he's being negatively grated for the sf. You know we're not We're not downgrading a cornerback for giving up a five yard catch and 37. If anything, that's a positive play, not a negative play. That's the kind of thing where the statistics might show up of. Ah, negative. Catch, you know, catch allowed. Ah, reception. A few yards with Pff grade is actually accounting for that and positively rewarding him. But it's like, you know, the one of the plays I tweeted. The other day was John Ross with Bangles getting him with a double move and, you know, having a few yards separation, But Dalton just missing the throw. That's the kind of play where on the stat sheet, it's It's a win on the stat sheet. The cornerback didn't allow catch from one target. But the great is going to penalize him for being beaten. Even if the quarterback couldn't connect with the receiver on the play. So you know again, I think It's difficult to sort of You know, say, tap the brakes that everyone making it seem like you hate the guy, but we love devious White is a fantastic player. We loved him coming out. Thought he was the best cornerback in that draft after Jalen Ramsey. I think they came out in the same draft classes. I remembering that correctly, and then he was phenomenal is a rookie. His great is above 90 so we know he's got that level of play in him. We just haven't quite seen it consistently every single week for the past years, So just so you know, Sam Bulldog and I know you're not saying he's terrible. We can relate way talk about this team critically, too, when hear the same thing. So you know you're in. You're in a safe zone. S o. The bills this year. Let's talk about the importance of the position and the defence of backfield in this day and age in the NFL. One thing that's also seems right. If not obvious, as we counted down the hours here, not knowing if this player would be around this year, Sam is Look, this is a majorly important position on the defense on a football team. So your thoughts on that How? How much does the number one corner mean? Of course it varies depending on how good your number one corner is, I guess, but How important is the position? Bottom line? Yeah. In abstract terms, A number one corner might be the most important position on defense. Not just because you know, having a number one corner having an elite number One corner does so much good for Ah, just what he's doing in terms of shutting down the best receiver on the offense, etcetera, But it has a knock on effect all the way down the depth chart. The number one corner makes the number two better because he doesn't have to deal with that number one receiver all the time. It lets you roll coverage away from a number one corner and focus on other areas that lets you do so much on a CZ. More and more data comes in and the data science guy start to crank on it. It becomes more and more compelling. The coverage generally is more important than pass rush. You know, it's one of those things. I think that the NFL is probably still leaning. In the other direction on but I think it's time goes, we're going to see the value of those guys Mohr than the value of pass rushers. So this I think it's very difficult to overstate how important this is to retain a guy Electra devious white. 14 wants to be contending this year. Would you consider paying him at the top of the cornerback class when his contract is up? Despite everything you've said here, you have to recognize. I think the way the market works right? So if someone is thought to be one of the five best corners in the league, and his contract is up Usually that guy goes right to the top of the heap. I think so. I should we be expecting that from the bills and white eventually Yeah, Absolutely. I agree with you. I mean, the best paid player at a given position is usually just the last good one that got signed to a long term deal. So Travis White is definitely Good enough to be in the conversation for, you know, a big time extension when when they get round to doing that, which point you'd imagine he catapults immediately right up to the top of that. The best paid corn list in the NFL, and you know, the other thing about corner is it's a very volatile position. You know, it's very, very difficult to sustain. Performance level as like the best cornerback in the NFL over any extended period of time. So you know a guy can have. I don't want to be a down season because it's not like he was bad. A guy can have a year that wasn't amongst the best corner wasn't right up there with the number one. The number two cornerback in the NFL and still in overall terms, be one of the best corners in the NFL. Because it's so difficult for those guys saying that year on year on year because the position you know almost by its nature is dependent on the offense, right? It's it's dependent on whether the receiver Makes a spectacular catch. Despite you being great all over and and on whether a quarterback and put the ball in when the receiver beat you on the double move in their separation there, you know, corners are kind of At the mercy of what they run up against every single week, And sometimes that breaks your way. And sometimes it doesn't Right on. Yeah, gets really interesting area about leading to. Ultimately, offense versus defense sustainability, you know, trying to predict the league and looking At the two units is which is more, you know, which is sturdier when you're trying to predict the season really interesting stuff will continue with Sam Monsoon of Pff after this might show up.

"What's up everybody is you and skipping meals David Hatfield joining this week is Tina mini everybody just Davis. Scoop and friend and SAM clayborn. We've got a great show for you this week we're going to talk about. The crazy crazy crazy deal about spiderman being exclusive to playstation. In Marvel's AVENGERS WE'RE GONNA flip through the August nineteen ninety issue of video games and computer. Entertainment. But I. Really all you need to know right now is that spunky to is finally finally coming out, September fifteenth just over month away I couldn't be more excited listeners and my friends on the show have long long heard me talk about how much I love love love spunky. Maybe my favorite game of all time cheese maybe I don't know why does it need sequel? Doesn't necessarily need one, but the like I, I. You know spunky. So brilliant and they've spent so much time making the sequel like I'm really excited to see you know how do you with with this one and what? During their, how deep they're going to get maybe they'll go so that they a lava world. You, what do you want different in this game? Necessarily different but I mean just play spunky I can't believe. We're still talking about this. You don't want the game he don't own a to do extra. This is the problem is that people like you demand sequels and they should be made everything was fine. I was I was never demanding a sequel I've been excited for the sequel though it was announced we've had to edit these episodes several times to remove your demands they're getting increasingly. Violent. My demand for this game increases. If you're if you're an Egyptian prime subscriber, you dame, it's eighteen minute weekly rant on spunky to yeah they go to edit editor. Yup you can download them. Eric while you're excited for this game looks like it has more digging. Know. It's all about systems. Interacting with each other in in unexpected surprising things on your quest to reach the end of the game. So I'm just excited for all the new stuff that they're going to add to the game. Off many many different ways to unexpectedly die during a I love spunky and. I was just joking about all that before I think the cool thing about spunky is the thing I like about Mario Brothers Games where it's like. So focused on secret stuff and as people discovered all the secrets. That that probably alone gave me hope that this game would just be like just full of like crazy cool Meta difficult things to accomplish. That that's why I needed a sequel, you catch all the seeking discover all the secrets you need more secrets. To. Shoot up date. They're like we added a bunch of secret stuff. That's the patch notes like that's the patch. This passes a secret. Good candidate for guides him. It is it is although it's kind of a it's really hard to write guides for Rogue Lakes because I'm you can kind of like classify like eventually with speeding this game became really interesting spunky because. You know there was like a type of orientation of the first level that like made sense to not restart on I think. That's really cool. Right. People basically start breaking the game to figure that stuff out but otherwise, you just gotta be like. You might see a snake. Not If. You know there's there's like a shortcuts to people could take that are built into the game that aren't yet I don't break the game. Yeah. You can tell people never to pick up certain weapons and stuff like that I. Think there is a There's an element to that type of strategy guide writing, which is interesting because there's there's a there's a public out there that I know people don't don't expect this. But it's true that just read from start to finish a game skied while they play it and I did that when I when I was a kid rock Tynan skied and didn't lessen my enjoyment of the Game I. Love The indepth page by page look at all the stuff in this game aspect that guy and people like that. So that's different from like a spunky guide readers like here's some tips. Good luck. And then apparently also. The Sony State of play today it was announced at Alan wake is coming to control DLC. Correct, but we don't have more information than that. Yeah. Honestly. I had like a I haven't been able to watch state of play in its entirety myself, but it was narrated to be my friendly gears. He makes an appearance and it has been long speculated that the DNC in meant in question would be across over with Alan. Wake. So this kind of confirms it but apparently, the trailer did not divulge much more about like. Easter kind of character or is this going to be like a playable character or villain may be and I? I guess I didn't catch this while I was playing control but I suppose or maybe I don't remember but I suppose we're a lot of references to a writer. So that's why we're the relations coming

Breland Talks Country, Hip Hop And Protests

"The music video for the hit song. My truck starts off like mini country music videos, country star Sam honey with a wide brimmed hat walks through a cloud of dust. Yoke and drank my leg. Come you. Can Take Mama and Yuka small. Schools these horns you can say you hate me you. Down to my truck. Then a young black man appears wire brimmed glasses and a huge grand shoves him out of the frame. Out. At the start of this year, he was just a recent college graduate trying to break into music then truck up and the song hit number one on spotify viral fifty chart back in February. The music video now has over twenty four million views and counting religious music defies definition. He's country trap hip hop aren be and so much more, and he joins us now from his home in Nashville to reflect on his music and his life as part of our series on how artists are reimagining and reflecting the current moment in their work. Thanks so much for being here. Thank you for having such a glowing introduction to bring you with me everywhere now. Oh Yeah I'll do it. So you're a recent college Grad, writing songs trying to break down the doors of the music business, and then all of a sudden you're going viral with this country song what what was it that actually got you to try your hand at Country Music Just. Always trying to do things that I think can can push the boundaries. I don't like to feel stagnant. So this was kind of came about kind of a challenge show in the studio with with some friends of mine, and we were kind of talking about the new wave of. Country Crossover records that had been that have been coming out like Old Town road and I was just like I feel like I can make a song like that and it would be pretty dope and they were like Nah man you can't make like that and I was like, okay challenge accepted so. Just started. Working on it and was able to come up with something. I guess that that stuck with people you've mentioned other artists like a little gnaws, of course, with Old Town road We also know though about the massive debate over what country is and who country belongs to. What is country to? country to me is a genre of music that is really just defined by strong songwriting and storytelling I think anyone can can make it. I think anyone can you know their based country music stars who are from? Other countries you know between. Fine and have been there some others, and then it really just comes down to the music and then whether or not people accept you I want to deepen that a little bit though because the New York Times reports that my truck isn't really picking up steam on traditional country music stations which are known to be pretty conservative. Do you even about that? I mean it would be it would be nice to have gotten more country radio support I. Think like Sirius Xm, the highways played it a lot. But in terms of traditional country radio, I don't think we got any spends I was hoping when I put Sam Hi on the remixed that would have probably validated it a little bit but it wasn't quite enough and I I understand it though because if you listen to country radio, it's. Tends to be wide dudes over forty so. For me to be a twenty five year old black dude. I, have a song, eight hundred weights and like hip hop production on it like it would've been a lot different than what was currently being played. My thing is if all of these country music fans are these a lot of them who are under thirty for example, are also listening to like drake and Migos, and even like our day and those cat, why do they have to leave the genre to get their fix of like bars and like hard beats like I feel like? Especially, with after after my truck came out I, realized that audience needs music and I know how to make it and I can I kinda stand in my in my own lane and help carve out a sub genre of music that speaks to the millennial modern country fan

California couple forced to cancel wedding amid pandemic has registry paid for by Domino's Pizza

"It was paid for Bye. Domino's pizza. What's this story all about this kind of story. Domino's pizza on Dure registry. Ah, no, I need some more here need a little bit more more action on the North Ridge Couple forced to cancel their wedding due to the pandemic gets an unexpected gift from Domino's pizza. Both lost their jobs during the covert shutdown and experienced multiple deaths among family and friends. And that's when dominoes stepped in. Eyewitness news reporter Mark Quota Roadless has the story. Soon to be C. J and Danica Laci. Like many engaged couples had big plans in 2020 in January. February, we books basically, All of our vendors are on top of it. We've got everything we're set that save that for the wedding night, But all of our vendors were on top of it. We've got everything we're set. That was long before covert. 19 up ended everything. We will lost our jobs. So you know it was that what if a guy I'm sure this has happened? Where their weddings being planned. I got the flowers I got the the invites are out there everything set and then the pandemic hits, and I bet you anything the guy sits her down and goes. You know what I just think this sign. I just don't. I don't know, I think you know. I think we're lucky that this pandemic hit and maybe we should see. You know, we can't see each other. I during this pandemic? No, it's just not working out, Sam and I'm sure a guy a CZ used the pandemic to get out. I'm positive that happen certainly less of someone. Oh, yeah, absolutely horrible, sinking feeling of Oh, gosh. Is it going to be ableto happen Because of the pandemic? CJ and Danny have postponed their big day. Who is the girl C J or Danny? Could be Danny, right? CJ? I think because of the pandemic, CJ and Danny have postponed their big day. While it's a big disappointment. They recently received an even bigger surprise. Danny saw a sponsored Facebook ad that Domino's pizza was offering pizza theme to registries for couples who had postponed their ceremonies. Great 40 bucks a piece, though. That's pretty nice. You know, we're so CJ is the guy Danny saw? No, Danny is the guy, okay? He's very great. 40 bucks something, so that's pretty nice way like pizza doesn't like pizza. And so that was like, score free pizza. Wait a minute. What was I e mean? That's this whole story is over two pizzas. Yeah, $40 where the pizza is Maybe three. For although dominance could be 12 very great 40 bucks and things. So that's pretty nice way like pizza doesn't like pizza. And so that was like, score free pizza laughing it off. Not thinking much of it. It was weeks later when Danny got an email. Oh, I see he registered For the free pizza, and then they pick them as a couple to pay for everything. I think that's where we're going. Are you seeing what I'm seeing all of their registries for being paid for by dominos for 1000 dollarsworth and the boxes are still coming. We kind of just put stuff on it. As like. Oh, we wish we had $1000 couch on their way. Didn't expect anyone to buy us $1000 couch. Why'd you put on there Then? While 2020 has been unpredictable and stressful, you know? Can you see the registry like if somebody registers, Can you see everything on it? I think you can't write. Oh, yeah, I think so. Yeah. So somebody saw that they put $1000 couch on it. I don't like that. If I saw it. I was going to a wedding. A young couple, Their twenties like, 2122 23 they put down $1000 couch on the registry. E. I don't know. It doesn't sound right. Thiss Act of kindness has brought some light into their lives. They didn't have to do that. You know, they're a big company that could have just spent that money on marketing and they didn't ask us to talk to anybody. They didn't ask us to post on social media. They just did it. Now they're left to enjoy their gifts. And look forward to their new wedding date in October 2021. As far as we're concerned, we're like already married. We feel like we are so it's like it's just gonna be. It's all about having a party and celebrating. There you go. $1000 couch. S o. Domino's is smart. Because now you know they got all this free publicity Ryan, you know, instead of and Donald Donald Donald was really smart if Domino said, Hey, please post on your social media. People would see through that. Okay, It's a ploy to get more eyes be very careful not to make it look like that. And then if you don't make it look like that, If you know if they just want to naturally talk to the press or posted themselves, that's how you get great publicity. So somebody Domino's is really, really smart and doing that, all right? We'll take a short break for life on camera and 40 more

Cybersecurity and the SMB

"But yet, you guys are geared towards helping small businesses from policy in ready perspective on cyber right. Absolutely. So I can tell you what we do I. Just WanNa make a comment on your diversity common because I'll. I'll make a a plug for diversity across genders races. The capabilities and skills are out there, but you have to work to find them So it's just a question. If you really believe in diversity than you have to build it from the ground up get people into the position to acquire the skills, and there's plenty of there's a diverse skill that's out there but you have to look forward. and. Not just be complacent and go to the usual suspects. So that's that's my plug on diversity it it. They are particularly in this space and it's important to for US particularly cybersecurity, which is about building things and creating solutions to actually get divers, thoughts and ideas in. Well, if I made injected diversity of opinion is so important because we. I I've been in the industry. You know roughly twenty some odd years and I feel like while we continue to innovate actually like the solving things is is the difficult part right and so every couple years ago we need a fresh perspective and what we have disabled people like this is not how it is going to happen. Yeah exactly. Exactly and so the the Cyber Readiness Institute in Two Thousand Sixteen I served as executive director of President Obama's independent bipartisan commission on Enhancing National Cyber Security, and it was a nine month commission as. We're finishing up the commission and the Vice Chair of the Commission Sam Palmisano, who's the retired CEO of IBM in I came together to talk through how do you carry this momentum forward so the CO chairs were all involved co chairs of CRI were all involved in the commission of Penny. pritzker served as US Secretary of Commerce at the time and she was oversight and then Microsoft participated on the commission Ivanka the CEO of MasterCard was a commissioner and the idea was to your earlier point that by convening senior executives to come together. And say small business cybersecurity is important. You create momentum for this purpose because small businesses themselves don't have the voice and don't have the resources for this and so if you take and convene large companies and ask them to share their best practices and resources to create free tools for small businesses, then you're truly helping businesses and you're also improving the security of global value chains. The point that Ajay Banga the CEO of MasterCard with all the time is you know we're only as strong as our weakest link and particularly for a company. Like MasterCard helping small businesses make sense but it's true of all companies are members include Exxon, Mobil, General Motors, city, those companies, all recognize the importance of cybersecurity for small businesses will, and I think it's interesting as cyber security We'll save matures and it's it's time as thing One of the things that I think we we keep coming back to insert recognizing pretty readily and it's happened a few times over the years where your smallest vendor, your most insignificant from but number of dollars you pay them vendor or partner. Tends to be one of your weakest. Of A cybersecurity perspective right. So if you think about the overuse example although I haven't heard it in a while of the h back company that you know. Is your is your H, back to provide a provider of choice for the six hundred, seventy, four locations you have right or or even or even the one like you've got a shop or something of live in an area that's got a lot of these small companies that are the warehousing and electrical companies and right. These are not like global companies but they've got somebody that maintains their grounds. They got somebody that does their payroll. They've got somebody that maintains the electrical and all that and I sort of wonder How much of the companies that? These companies rely on actually do. In terms of cybersecurity sometimes, they have such A. Wealth and abundance was an embarrassment of riches as the attorney in terms of how much data they have a about some of the world's largest companies. Blows my mind that they spent like. Maybe sometimes nothing on cybersecurity will holy cow possible. Well exactly and I think one of the things that you are calling attention to, which is so critical as that supply chains are not linear. There are parts of your supply chain that people don't think about it's the catering company. It's the HVAC company and there was a story in the. New York Times by Nicole for over a couple of years ago about an oil company in Texas that was firewalls, six ways to Sunday. But they were breached because the militia actors were paying attention to the it department and saw that at six o'clock at night typically, they would download the menu from the Chinese restaurant around the corner and. To in order to order, and so they put them out where on the Chinese restaurant. because. They see a lot easier to breach

"Welcome to fat Mascara I am Jess Hi. With and. Blew out everybody's ears sorry about that. I'm very excited. You're excited because honestly we're recording this little bit early you're listening to this. Holy. Cow, it is August. That's right. It's August this. Time in twenty twenty is the weirdest thing. It's like I. IT still feels like February February went forever. Then all of a sudden it was August and yet. I don't know there's like none of those markers like didn't see your mom for mother's Day like don't go away for this birthday and so like. It's faster yet slower. It's the weirdest remembers I remember sitting in bad in like March and being like Jeff do think this whole quarantine thing could go onto like a bro like asking just like totally well I remember you asking me that too yeah and I was like. Yeah. I also can't believe since you're lake was born since February. I've literally seen you in person only wants it once or twice I saw you on the street. Yeah. I didn't see each other again. Because I see you so often, but I see you on the show will me I I think this is our lives. Now this is this but this is so sad it can't be like this. It can't be like this. I know I know well, for people who enjoy summer, which isn't Jessen I might alright bringing the rest on your summer like happy August to you for everybody else who just really hot and sweaty right now we're getting through it. We're just getting. Some are in the city. I always have that like hot Tom Summer in the city song every time like go outside just like feet pounding the pavement. Yeah, and then it just slows down into like a milky. As Long. As. Low a nineteen seventies like cast over everything just like doom and gloom summer of Sam the seriously it's not fun right now anyway, let's bring the phone. Let's bring the levity. Bring the joy. What do we got this week? Let me tell you. We've got the headlines. We've got men wearing makeup. Okay. I'm very excited about this trend I feel like we report on this like every six months but I feel like there's always a tweak there's always a new span. There's always a new angle can't wait to talk about this and we are going to answer a listener's question about behind the scenes at fat Mascara how the sausage gets made, and of course, we're GONNA raise wand all that well done Jeff I'm excited about this show you ready to do it. Let's get hot town in the city. than. Them doing the news. Virtually, from my vacation just kidding I'm recording the Ireland I should've said. Before we're doing an early not early in the morning earlier than we would because janitors going on vacation. That's how much we love you. Instead of US being L., we're going to take a week off. Oh No, we've recorded double that episode for you. So if some huge news comes out at the end of August and it is not including this, you cannot blame me I was just thinking like watch oprah like surprise drop beyond style like a makeup line like Oprah's makeup line and we don't talk about it like every facet like off their game it's because I'm recording early just so you know. Okay. So remember last week when we talk about Clare Sonic Failing Jason, you're like, well, they're no dummies all those people are going to be. You know they'll find something to work on. Well, did they ever? So Dr, Rob We've both interviewed I know. He actually left the company before it closed and started up this brand called Oculus and so this is where all the technology's going. It's launching in the fall. It's basically like you know a courage coffeemaker. It's like that for skin care. So I, gotTa look at it. It's a little like device you putting these pods. K Cups of care and it mixes together the pod that you want and squirts out a fresh batch just one application of your skincare.

Quantum Machine Learning: The Next Frontier with Iordanis Kerenidis

"All right everyone I am on the line with Max Welling Max is Vice President of technologies. At qualcomm, Technologies Netherlands and a full professor at the University of Amsterdam. Max was a guest of the podcasts just about a little over a year ago in May of last year where we talked about gauge Equa variant CNN's generative models and the future of ai and I am super excited to welcome you back to the show. To catch up on what you've been up to and dig into some really interesting topics. Hi, Sam. Thank you for having me again on the show absolutely I I'm really looking forward to our conversation You may know this, but last year's podcast that that we did was the second most popular show of the year. So does the the second most downloaded show for the the podcasts and I am sure this one will be just as hot So looking forward into it before we jump into our topics which include topics like neuro. Federated Learning graph they're all networks. Give us an update on what you've been up to at qualcomm and the you know the current focus of your research at the university. Yeah. So I think many of the topics that we talked about last year are still You know hotly pursued at the university and at Qualcomm So we're doing a lot of generative modelling. where we look at, you know, how can we build models that can generate high dimensional data like images and audio in a very realistic way trained completely unsupervised from from data we are also looking at still at in variances and said of symmetry in Dade, in how we can embed those into these models. and in particular, also looking at graph neural networks with applications now, also to dry molecules. So we've started the project where we try to predict the properties of molecules and can be very naturally model with graph neural net because you know molecule is a little bit like a graph and we've made these models also symmetric two rotations in in Three D. space if I take a molecule and I rotated around, then sit of the internal representations of that narrow network need to transform in a coherent way under these rotations and since it's the graph near on that, it's also it's also symmetric under permutations of the nose. and so all of these symmetry is are built into the neural network and being trying to predict properties for drugs, for instance, and in that in the context of you know if we can find something that is good against a go of it. but we've also looked at efficient learning Trent training networks. So very limited precision is mostly worked as being done at qualcomm because of crispy wanted to run our phones an innocent of lowest the lowest amount of energy and so to to have the highest accuracy but using the least amount of power possible. and so we've been a lot of research and trying to make these. sort of complex neural network computations, very low precision, and as an additional sit of new tracking their revolt have been looking at quantum computation now, and in multiple ways, the first of all quantum chips might be around a corner can we train get can be designed good neural networks that would. Run on quantum chips but also just look at the mathematics off these of of quantum mechanics and see if that quantum of the mathematics is is sort of a new language even for classical neural networks. So yeah, there's there's a lot of things happening and then and then there's of course it neural augmentation that we will be talking about We have been applying these ideas to different application areas in Martyrs Communication also at the university, but also on. Princeton's to to my Mo- detection and also to era correction decoding and also to to channel estimation. Awesome. Awesome. Interesting to hear you bring up quantum and quantum machine learning You know that's something. We can maybe spend a few minutes on a curious on your your overall take I've been trying to myself to get a sense for whether I. Think it's worthy of all the hype it's getting in how far away it is and how relevant it is machine learning and they I what what's your take on it? Yeah. They could easily spend an hour on this. I'm very, very excited about this stuff. So. So for me at this point it is mostly intellectually interesting and I have a physics background. So my my supervisor of US GARAGE TOFU IS A. Nobel, prize onset sort of standard model quantum, a standard model quantum mechanics, and he has a very particular and interesting view on quantum mechanics, which is very controversial. I would say but and and and if you is that, in fact there is A. World there, which is not logical where the world is just in classical state at the very, very small small was level. We don't know what that state is or what the e even how to describe it, and so the mathematics to describe that sort of. Classical Senator Automata is happens to be quantum mechanics. A quantum mechanics is a mathematical tool like complex analysis is a mathematical to to solve. Partial differential equations, ordinary different differential

Rhode Island issues tax refunds signed by Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse

"So what would you do if you received a tax refund check from Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse? That's exactly what happened in Rhode Island this week. The Rhode Island Division of Taxation has traditionally used there, Walt and Mickey signatures on test files. But on Monday those signatures were mistakenly printed. On real checks. The checks were tax refunds for corporate sales and tax credits, mostly the businesses. The tax division has avoided the checks, and we'll issue new ones within a week, signed by the state treasure and the state controller instead. But now the 175 people who received the bad checks have a souvenir. Scott Sam's NewsRadio 10 80 k R.

Coronavirus Q&A: Running Outside and Petting Dogs

"Let's get to the questions. We got so many from our list. We picked a few and show them to you. So we're going to have you answer them right now and provide color commentary throughout you. Sure. All right first question? What's the deal with running? I've heard inflicting things. What's the likelihood of? It means bread of someone runs past me okay. So this question makes total sense to me because I think there were some scary kind of initial studies around this. Man where it says runners could spread it for twenty feet and they were these vectors but that was kind of mildly debunked. Yeah. It was kind of dismissed them and there are parts of it that made sense but it wasn't considered to be like actually a real world scenario that was tested and it's really hard test that so. When I think about running, of course, it depends on what space you're in, right. So outside in fresh air going to have a lower risk if you're somebody if you wearing a mask if that person's wearing a mask, all of those things kind of factor in and as best we can tell Sam as a you know a somewhat general rule. The majority of transmission happens in close indoor situations where you're spending a good bit of time together. That is why it is absolutely essential to be wearing a mask especially inside it doesn't mean that there's no risk if you're outside and there's only a brief encounter but it's reduced. Running and you pass somebody for a second. I'm not super worried about that situation now they cough and sneeze, and you just slam right into it. Say I'm that's a different scenario. Go Home, wash your face, wash your hands but the you know the experts that I'm talking to are not super worried about that situation art follow up question for you on this topic as a runner. I have heard mixed messaging about wearing a mask. When you run some folks say well, you're outside you're moving fast, just dodge even stay away from people others are like you have to have it on all the time when I've done both. But when I've tried to run with a mask on my entire five miles I ended up with the wet mask and it's like I'm waterboarding myself. Yeah absolutely I mean, of course, wearing a mask if you can is a good situation and if you're in a really really busy city and you can't get away from people if you're like constantly dodging people I actually do think it's probably a good idea. But if you're in an area where it's a little bit more open, I would say it's probably okay not to wear a mask when you're running A. Anytime, you have the choice between them a mask is going to be a safer bet but if you can get up really early before somebody's out there or go somewhere else in and it's you know like either I'm not gonNA run or I'm gonNA run without a mask. Then I think that's a decision you have to make. So you're saying we should be doing three am runs in cemeteries. Sam Stop. Phone. It in get up at three am and got it done. Get it done. Get it done. Yes. Next. Question from a listener about animals can I say hi to other people's Dogs Oh yeah, Samson is this question for Melissa is this question? This question is from Sanders. From. My Heart. And make sure they're OK. Okay. So I looked this up because I wasn't sure and the CDC has weirdly complicated guidance on this. So really some pets like dogs or cats have caught Kovic from humans, but the CDC says the risk of dogs than giving Cova to people is considered low like there's no evidence that you can get it from the for or the hair of other pets. But one of those owners that kisses your dog on the mound, I was just about to say. But this because the CDC still says, you should not interact with dogs outside their household. So I'm like man I guess the CDC is worried about people getting pet saliva in their mouths, but you shouldn't be mcing on somebody else's dog anyway Sam. If you see a dog and the dog is really really really cute. Oh my God you part of the Kids Sam Palmer's the kiss I cannot miss the kids you are. You're going to have to definitely miss the kiss for a while so but so but I will say, honestly, you know briefly a dog has come up to me and the dog park it's onerous faraway I pet it. I'll say I have pet but the. Official guidance lead those dogs alone. Sam. Understood understood.

Interview With Sam Querrey And Eric Hutchinson

"Jon Wertheim here, and it's this week's. Illustrated Tennis podcast, we have two guests this week, a bonus guest in mainstream tennis player guest I. Am Query joins us. He is at the Greenbrier in West Virginia where he was laying world team tennis, and then as he will explain, is ready to embark on a full season starting in August, and we talked to him about what it's been like in the tennis bubble what his plans are for the rest of the season and sort of what the impact of this crazy and cratered year has been on a on a player of his status, his age. then. We have Eric Hutchinson. He's been on the show before Eric is a friend of big. Band of tennis and we talk a bit about what it's like to be a solo performer solar artists in the time of Cova probably not dissimilar to being a singles player. Eric has a new album class of one, thousand, nine, hundred, Eighty, eight. So we talk a bit about the process a bit about this sort of enforced break that we are all on. What the overlaps between music and tennis. All right now and some tennis chatter with a big tennis fan. So Sam Corey versed Haircut Simpson's second. Let's start in. West. Virginia. You're. In the bubble. I am. Tennis bubble. Let's let's start the president as a been. IT'S BEEN AWESOME You know for me I hadn't told a match in. Australian Open because my wife had a baby in February also I mean it's been five months. So I was excited to go I think all the players here are are really loving it and it's fine and we're finally back plans some competition and it's been great i. mean the I've never I don't know if you've ever been here. I. Know I haven't most you'll have in, but the resort is awesome So it is a bubble but at the same time you can there's golf fishing a bunch of restaurants you can go. You know skeet shooting eighteen. So you're you don't feel like you're just you're playing tennis and going back to your room. There's so much to do outside tennis, which is really made it fun for everyone because we are here for for three full weeks. And it's great to be back in absolute competition and. Going to court I mean it's going great so far. Some sounds like summer camp widsom competitive tennis thrown in. That's exactly what it feels like especially 'cause you're you're in the mountains that it's got a very, very much camp field. We're we're only doing this audio. I have to say you're your backdrop is tremendous. It looks like I mean you can kind of see like. Beautiful. No it's. It's this part of the I've never been here like I said it's I mean we went ATV and a few days ago, and you go up in the mountains in the views and. I. Spectacular. Doesn't sound like a bad way to spend July. What's been the? What about sort of the training, the nutrition, the hydration everything that comes with competitive playing how have you been able to deal with? With that. I, mean for me personally that's been that's been tough. The last like months to find the motivation for practice knowing or not knowing when we're GONNA. Start. You know you're kind of always like like apprenticed for like, wow not studying for I'll just as the next day and then I do the next day. So you know the last two months I haven't practicing hard but there's there's a practice shape and there's match shape. It's hard to really get back into your match shape until you play match. So. I'm doing the best. I can I've got Christian Cossio who travels with me as like a physio here with me. So we've been in the gym every day and working on my body. So physically actually feel fine because you know the team that I'm on I'm only playing singles every day. So I've literally got a thirty minute sets of five. And that's all the tennis I'm playing. So off days and even some matchdays I'm finding the other guys have updates in in an extra and extra practice and spending time in the gym and trying to make the most of it won't here. What's the level play? Overall? It's been high I. Mean I've played tennis twenty years because of the incentives this year online means finals, winters, It's intense. The teams are into it i. mean every you really feel like everyone's kind of laying it out there and It's made it better. You know I it's fun of the past but these incentives, I, it's it's up the level and there's a few more come on. There's a the teams kind of gathering around over a little bit more. So it's it's been really fun and I hope they continue to do is incentives can. Stays at this level. Yeah. I mean I was GONNA. Say, this is an interesting. You're a world team tennis veteran. This is unlike any other season you've had you just. League can. Use this crazy. This crazy three weeks as a springboard. I hope. So I. Mean Look at Fred Leading Eric Davidson behind it and they love tennis and You know they seem to have the financial backing to help move it forward in a good direction and Like the nave because of what happened, I mean the level and the talent they have this year is like no other year they've had world tanks. See this type of caliber players for a full season. So hopefully I mean I everyone that plays this year know especially those top players are GonNa say oh. My God this has been fun like this has been a great. Few weeks of practice, it's fun to be on a team and hopefully for the years moving forward, they're going to those top players GonNa WanNa do it again. Give, give us your your like top top four players of the season. If you're writing in your MVP, votes would be Gosh I would have to look at kind of like the the win loss record. you know Bethany Matic Santa's up there because she's just it seems like every mixed doubles in every doubles cheese. You know winning most of those. Sets. closers was up there until she got her she was just on fire. So I'm still GONNA put closers in the mix and then. Not so I'M GONNA try to I'm trying to think of a guy that's. been somewhat dominant. I can't tell I. Don't know I would need to look at like. He's been winning losing.

Amazon & Walmart changing checkout experience

"Amazon. Has Developed a shopping cart. Is Most. People aren't aware Amazon very quietly. Is Opening, Amazon branded supermarkets. And they're doing just a few around the country is they've really failed with whole foods they're trying to come up with an Amazon branded supermarket and the shopping carts. Automatically. Know, what you have in your cart. And when you're done shopping. You just walk right out of the Amazon Grocery. So you don't even stop at a cashier. And the one thing you have to be as you have to be registered with Amazon. With the APP on your phone. And then it knows who you are when you come in knows how you're going to pay. And then the heart I know this is freaky and weird but the cart. Automatically Is. To Register each item. That has gone in there. It's called the the Dash Cart. And when you're done. You're done just go straight to your vehicle. Walmart. Amazon's rival. Is rumored to be coming out with an? Addition, to. Their APP. Where registered shoppers and it's not clear what category that's going to be will be able to. Check out of the store on their own right on their phone. It's not as easy. As what Amazon's offering very similar if you are a Sam's club shopper and have used their self-checkout. On your phone and it's great. Because allows people who know how much money they can spend to not get to the register and say, Oh, I don't have enough money for that. Were you take that off you take that off, take that off you. As you go along, you're able to ring things up. You know what they're going to cost what your total bill is and the rest, and this puts cashier jobs at risk obviously. But, the. Retailer. Is Looking to create a more efficient environment, and then the other aspect that's been rumored is that they're trying to deal with people's fears of human contact right now with corona and that's why. They're going to offer people the ability to ring up their own purchases completely different than self-checkout. This is just reading the Barcodes as you go on your phone with a running total. And then you end up checking yourself out. It creates a bar code that the greeter at the door scans with a little electronic gun. And they're able to verify the. You're a okay and you leave the store not ever having gone to a register line four one.

It is Royal rumble week, which means we've got a lot to talk about today. Especially this Royal rumble week. I feel like I don't know. Maybe it's because WWE is has has been shifting the creative way they do things maybe because storylines have become so influx lately. Talent dropping in dropping out new guys from annexed tease showing up matches changing it just feels like we're on a roller coaster, ladies and gentlemen, and I for one and enjoying it. We'll talk about it all there's so much to get into this week. We've got a lot of Royal rumble coverage to do. And I'm going to have a guest breakdown the Royal rumble in just a minute. Of course, you know. I got this is so I spent a big portion of Monday, I was I didn't have work on Monday over at Sirius XM, Jim Norton and Sam Roberts, and I'm about three episodes deep into the nineteen ninety two episodes of WWF superstars, though were uploaded onto the WWE network. This is what I've been waiting for. I mean for me superstars WWF superstars superstars of wrestling. Whatever you wanna call it. That's the show that I was raised on. That's my childhood. It went from eventually we got to prime time wrestling, then all American wrestling and all those shows, but it was every Saturday superstars every Sunday wrestling challenge. And so I've been waiting for superstars and the format of the show was exactly what I always remembered wrestling to be this is the wrestling that I was raised on for all those years. And so I was super excited. Nine ninety two for me is is is a perfect year. So I like superstars so much that you know, I would go to the wrestling conventions. I still do go to wrestling conventions all the time that's one of the great parts about living in the east coast. But it used to be I think that WWE has crackdown on it a lot probably for the best for their business. But there used to be like these big tables of bootleg DVD's that they would have on sale. And so I bought like, I think maybe I definitely the nine hundred ninety and the nineteen Ninety-one, and maybe also the nineteen ninety two seasons of WWF superstars on like bootleg DVD, and they were all originally VHS tapes off TV and then transfer and then copied and then copied and then copied and then transferred onto DVD. You know, when I was a I was at tape trader when I was in high school, and so that's when I really started to build my tape collection. I had all the paper views on. Tape, and I had a bunch of like Monday night Roz and shows like that though, we're on tape just from taping him at night, and I never wanted to take over them. But in terms of actually building out a collection in high school was when I started tape trading and really building out that collection and finding episodes of superstars and wrestling challenge. Those were the gems. And so I went forward, and and and the in this was, you know, years after high school, this is probably I don't know ten years ago, or so I found that these wrestling conventions, these bootleg tables, and they would sell them like Gano fifty or eighty bucks or something like that..

But it's one of those things where I guess while our has had crossed it just never came up or or I remember there was one time and another ring of honor show that I was about to interview him, and then they set up the meet and greet right away. And there was just no time like the timing. Plays a part and all this stuff. It's weird. You know, I lived this life. You get you get the interviews. You can get. But when you've got about forty minutes or so to sit down with Jay lethal, you gotta take advantage of that. And so much wisdom that he's got to put out there. You know, there's there's you could you could hear as he talked about the way he was when he was young kind of why he's been so successful. You know, you you could you could hear. Hear that in the way, he talked about it. You can hear why he's always been so well liked and I'm really really interested to see what happens as Jay lethal career progresses because it's a unique time, and I'm glad that he sees what's going on with ring of honor as an opportunity because I think it is for somebody like Jay lethal. You could say, oh, this is awful by blah, blah. But I think it's an opportunity for somebody like Jay lethal to step forward and really take the reins of promotion like this in a way that's never happened before. And if he's successful the world is going to be his voice ter-. I wanna talk about everything that's going on with ring Varner. I want to talk about everything's going on WWE, and this shakeup, I want to talk about the new guys coming to WWE and the only place that I can talk about all that stuff is in the state of wrestling. So I guess we should start that. Now, it's now time for this week's state of wrestling. Yes. Of course, it is time for this week's state of wrestling. Welcome. Welcome welcome. And before we get started. I want to give a special shout out to not Sam shell Mark. San diego. Thank you, Mark. "Sam wrestling, all the not Sam shells. That are indie darling and above get this video every single week. It's a part of the access that you get exclusively over there on patriotic. I did upload to the YouTube channel for free a small section of last week state of wrestling segment, the debate between myself and Katie linen doll over Charlotte and Becky Lynch, and we'll get into Becky Lynch here on state of wrestling this week for sure because just something I observed about what was going on with Becky Lynn this week on smackdown. On. But we'll talk about it. We'll get there. She's not my number five story of the week. And you know, what we do on state of wrestling? We countdown my according to me Sam Roberts, the last professional broadcaster what the top five stories in the world of professional wrestling were and are this week. And we start with number five, and technically you could argue that this isn't a wrestling story. But this is a WWE company story for sure in anything that affects WWE is a company affects the wrestling industry, as we know it in two thousand eighteen so the XFL leads off this week state of wrestling. And honestly, you know, I think that there is room for the XFL here on not saying wrestling as a matter of fact, come February twenty twenty we're not even going to cover wrestling anymore. It's just gonna be football. I'm just kidding. I wouldn't even begin to know how to cover football. Okay. This is what I say as we talk about the XFL. I don't know anything about the football. Ball. You know, they're talking about. Point returns in. Two point conceptions in whatever, I don't know anything about football. Okay. I sit there with Pat McAfee. I look at all these people we do the next t- shows. I look at all these people they go, Pat, you were such a great punter. I go, Pat, what does that mean? You caught the ball. He goes, no Sam. And he pats me on the head. And he goes, let's just stick to talking about this wrestling. Okay. I said, Pat, that's where I'm a Viking Pat McAfee is as close to football as I'll ever get and I feel bad for him..

"Not Sam wrestling for the not Sam shells. You already know what we do here in the state of wrestling and that is countdown. The list of the top five stories in the world of pro wrestling this week according to yours, truly the last professional broadcasters, Sam Roberts and it's an interesting week. Of course we covered Saudi in the and the crown jewel and what maybe WWE should do in the bridge segment. So if you're looking for that in the state. Have wrestling, you're not gonna find it. You shouldn't skip segments. Speaking of skipping. A lot of people last week were tweeting me going. What happened to the state of wrestling I turned on, I must have missed something is the state of wrestling, no more. I think I said at the beginning of the show, we're not do it last week. We're not doing a state of wrestling because I was out of town and couldn't do it topically, and that's why I put on the special Caroline show. But if you skip the intro, you would miss that part too. So stop skipping around parts of the show. Okay. That should be number five this week, but we're sticking to wrestling stories. Okay. And the number one story we're gonna have some fun with so. Number five is TNA or impact wrestling as it is now known as Don callous refers to it and everybody referring to impact wrestling, refers to it. Number five is impact wrestling's bound for glory and more specifically the Austin Aries situation. So first of all, I watched bound for glory and I think TNA is doing good, pay per views. I think it's it's. Or I'm sorry, impact wrestling. I keep seeing seeing saying TNA, but it's just it's not for any reason other than the fact that that's just what I'm used to saying. I mean, if you go through the WWE pre shows, you'll find me saying WWF in two thousand eighteen on WWE TV okay. I'm a hardheaded person. I'm not a fast learner is the point even if it's only about three letters, you know, these are. These are worth three letter words are stuff that kids learn in like first grade cat CAT probably before first grade. Probably kindergarten. Maybe the really smart ones, the doogie howser to the world before they even get to kindergarten. Dog DO g I'm good with those. I know a lot of those three letter words. Rock are. Okay. Oh, the c is silent. But for some reason when you explain to me what the name of a wrestling promotion is, sometimes I find it difficult to remember the proper branding, but deal with me here work with me here we're talking about impact wrestling and we're talking about another three letters b. f. g..

"Slash not Sam wrestling only for the not Sam shells and more shows are going to keep going up all the classic ones. And I tape some new ones that are also going to be going up. So it's a very, very exciting time in the world of not Sam wrestling. So we talked about bound for glory and we'll talk about Austin areas and all that stuff in the state of wrestling. But I bring it up because of my interview this week. My interview this week is one half of the people that are kind of in charge of impact wrestling right now. And his name is Don callous. Don depending on when you started watching could mean a lot of different things. Of course, Don callous. Has the podcast killing the town with Lance storm on the Jericho network. He's great friends with Chris Jericho for many, many, many years. At this point. Show you might know him from the podcast. You might know him from his work as a commentator at new Japan pro wrestling which he does a great job at, you might know him as the color commentator on impact wrestling where he put himself in that position. But I think he put the right man in that position. He does it with Josh Matthews. You also if you're an old school fan, if you go back as far as I do, I was first introduced, Don callous when he came out with the truth commission as the jackal and then very quickly the jackal morphed into like a kind of like a cult leader who would come out in like black leather and had like a jewel on his forehead, and we're sunglasses and the long hair and everything. And he would come down from the ceiling and all kinds of stuff, but maybe known as the jackal maybe you were CW fan back in the day and you remember the really, I mean, there was only two guys. Well, only two guys really did color commentary with any sort of regularity and nobody did color commentary with the regularity that he did, and that's when he was Cyrus the virus when Don callous when over to easy w and became Cyrus the virus and then not only was the color commentator, but the Representative of the network when he CW was having their problems with TNN classic television, classic. He'll commentary work, but he's done a lot. He's done a lot in this world of wrestling and he's a great wrestling thinker, and he's great. We've wrestling psychology just knows this stuff, and that's probably why there's been a positive impact over at impact wrestling. I talked to Josh Matthews who's a good friend of mine. He was on the podcast a while back when I think when he first started TNA but Joschka I said, you know, you're going to be in New York. I got to see you. So he invited me down to the Melrose ballrooms. I could just come and hang out and say, hi for a little bit. And while I was there, he said, why don't you talk to Don callous? I said, I'd love to talk to Don callous. So I talked to Don callous, but in just talk to him, I recorded the conversation. And I guess when you have a conversation that's recorded and you put it on a podcast, it becomes an interview and that conversation that's recorded and became an interview is the interview of the week, ladies and gentlemen this week on not Sam wrestling, Don callous. Then not Sam wrestling interview. We're at the Melrose ballroom, it's I guess we're coming off of bound for glory. Weekend TV, tapings going on for impact wrestling in. The man of the hour is Don callous, Don. What's the half's? They man saw good to step. It'd be here. How? How did you end up here? I mean your your inclusion in the business of pro wrestling. We all kind of have been following you for a long time in are aware of, but how did the, how did the journey impact specifically. Was here no three and portable for as a talent, which from my perspective was very much a, you know, temporary thing I was. I had, you know, basically retired from wrestling and was just looking for some into bridge me until I was moving into the into the job market. I just finished my MBA and was like, I'm done with wrestling. So kind of my last match here..

"He spent about three years as a key member of the WWE creative team. Not to mention he's a mega mega wrestling fan, so a lot to talk about with court, and I think you're really going to enjoy my conversation with him. Let's get right to it. The interview for this week on not Sam wrestling is the one and only court bow. Our. The not Sam wrestling interview. Here we are. It's the not Sam studio. And with me here on not Sam wrestling from m. l. w. the podcast network, the wrestling promotion, the the universe court, Bauer back for the first time in a long time us the back, what's going on, man? What's the hats? Your studio has much improved since last. Doing this, so awesome. I seriously every where I looked. This is like wrestling nirvana right here. It's really cool. Yeah, I wanted to feel I just wanted to feel very Sam. Yeah. When you come down here, you know the only thing that interrupts the wrestling flow. Is this knickers? No, I love the sneakers. I'm a sneaker head. So I saw was like, this is the best fusion of wrestling and culture. You can get love it or you're one of the few people that got to see this studio as well as the previous establishment where I was broadcasting from. Yeah, which was by living room table. And you know, luckily you were in Westchester, so you ain't going to my apartment podcast. What's crazy too, and you think about Westchester and all the wrestling history here because you have paulie, you have dreamer captain. Lou captain Lou Freddie blassie lived here. A lot of people aren't scholar, and a lot of lot of wrestling came through here. Some the old guys from eighteen hundreds lived here Muldoon the original headliner for Masdar. Arden in the eighteen seventies eighties so this. That's awesome. It's a pretty hot spot for wrestling. You don't think when you walk around the mean streets of Westchester. Right? It's got some rich history and wrestling, you know, especially, of course he thinking about the McMahon's it's yeah, meeting backyard? Yeah, we're right next. I don't think people realize how close we are to Stanford and all of that. But also the Westchester county center in White Plains is a building that's been running. I mean, WWE WWF wrestling in general for years. Everybody that's lived in Westchester for any sort of lengthy period of time, went there as a kid to watch whatever wrestling was, one hundred percent. I remember going there and seeing WWF and booing the natural disasters as a kid and then see e c w and the promo that Polly got kicked out of the county center for cutting. Yeah, pretty explicit promo in its time and just to see the evolution of you've had Monday night. Rather, I remember going there with a fever as a kid, watching it and like ninety three ninety dollars probably at that raw that was when that was. I mean they would take four weeks at a time, but that was when they did. It wasn't Bret Hart vs one, two, three kid. It was Nikolai Volkov. Versus one, two, three kids. 'cause I tell XBox that now and I'm like, yeah, you remember the match bread. Of course he was like, you were there for that was like, no. I was there for the Nikolai mansion and he goes, oh. I saw a lot of good matches there. There was a great steel cage match. Think with Shawn, Michaels and Marty genetic, something like that. Yeah, it was really good. The old blue, shark k, yeah, really good match. And at least a, like seeing the up and coming guys, they'd have dark matches for an. I remember Tommy dreamer wearing suspenders and baggy pants, sparkling pants, I think making his, I don't think it was his debut, but during a dark match a very young Tommy dreamer before he had the go tea and Westchester zone. Tommy dreamer, of course. And so there's a lot history course EC w. Yeah, I was at that w show the ran the TV Tate. Last one you want and only because and so the Westchester county center, it's in its near us here, but it seats what? Twenty five thousand five hundred..

"It's been a busy one. Welcome to not Sam wrestling. Busy week, busy, busy. We and you get to reap the rewards of all of it this week here on not same wrestling as well as over for the not Sam shells on patriotic exclusive content all coming from the performance center. This week are not Sam wrestling. I'm so excited last week, Stu Bennett. I thought was great. I didn't get to promote that podcast away. I usually promote these podcasts because I've been so all over the place. So I don't know if there was like official Twitter post, the episode went up laid on YouTube all over the place. So if you haven't for any reason, if you didn't get to hear the interview with Stu Bennett formerly known as Wade Barrett, make sure that you check that out on last week's episode. And of course, I redid the top ten list the top ten faction list the WWE put out very, very controversial list that they put out a couple of weeks ago. I gave you my list of top ten factions last week on the podcast, so go. Back and listen to last week's podcast. If you missed it may post that video of the top ten factions just so everybody can see it because there was some controversy and I'll get into that here on not Sam wrestling this week. But first and foremost, it's, of course the interviews I was down at the performance center actually a week ago. If you download this show the day, it comes out. I was the performance center a week ago today. So two k games sent out a whole bunch of us probably about thirty of us down to the performance center to see everything that was going on with the WWE and to talk about everything that was going on with the new video game WWE to k nineteen like a week before we were going down. Just got an Email saying, hey, Sam, would you want to come to a to k event at the performance center in Orlando checkout, get a tour of the place to play the game. Do interviews bobble by said, yeah, you know, the whole point of not Sam wrestling is to provide the ultimate wrestling fan podcast experience. So I said, not everybody's gonna. Get this Email. So I would love to go down to performance center, get as much as I can out of it and report back to you share that access with you. And so that's what this week and next week will be all about. We got a whole bunch of interviews to podcasts worth, so we will be playing some of those this week and some of those next week. And I'm really, really excited about it. First of all, I got to be hands on with w two k nineteen, and it's awesome. I play these games every year. I get them every year Smeg from the smackdown vs raw days. I mean, I think the first so I even had like the the Nintendo games, the WWE Nintendo games. The first game that I remember being super super excited about. I was gonna say was in your house for the first PlayStation. But I remember before that, I think the first wrestling video game that I was super excited about was probably raw is war for Segi Genesis. That was the first game. Where you could go outside the ring and they had foreign objects. You could hit people with a chair or a bucket. That was the first game that I think the first game there was a female character in loon of Sean was in that game. There was battle Royal mode. So you could have all kinds of characters. And it was all characters from like the ninety, four ninety five era of WWE. I loved Roy's war for Sega Genesis, but I've pretty much bought every game sense them in your house. Wrestlemainia the game. I think you would reverse the order of those to. You know, smackdown I think was the next series of games of the smackdown series. Of course, the sixty four games. Let's not. Let's not forget to mention when t h q. Lost the WCW license and picked up the WWE license. And what started is w. w. w..

"This week on the podcast Samoa. Joe is with us in an interview that you are not going to forget plus it's all in week. We'll break the whole thing down. Somebody quit on raw. Somebody got released by WWE separately. The PWI five hundred is out. We're going to talk about all of it and more. This is not Sam wrestling. Is. Introducing your host from New York here is Sam rulers. Welcoming. That Sam wrestling everybody. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome to the show. So happy to have you all with me here from the NATs ham studio. First and foremost, a lot of people were talking about how much they liked the new intro. I was getting that a lot on Twitter over the last week, all credit to Troy Kwan this what he does for a living. Well, he's a musician. He's an electronic musician, but he also does production like this so you can hit them up on Twitter if you're really looking for some good production for your stuff who want to bite my style and go ahead. Is there to be bitten. He's going to charge you hit him up at Troy Quant on Twitter. That's who did this intro isn't a great, welcome to not Sam wrestling so much great feedback on last week's. Alexa bliss interview and all credit really is due to Alexa bliss. She's just such a phenomenal guest so many good stories and a good perspective. And I mean the head on her shoulders, she's going to be around for a very long time, and I'm very much looking forward to see what her and Trish Stratus pull out for this volition pay per view. You know, we saw Trish Stratus at the Royal rumble at the women's Royal rumble. It was cool to see everybody back. And I said, this is the time. I kind of wish that there was a little bit more emphasis on the women of today than there was on the women of yesterday. I didn't think it should have been exactly equal. I think it should have been called that there were women have yesterday there, but really emphasizing what's going on today because that's the way I am about all of this stuff, whether it's men, women, children, it doesn't matter by the way the children of yesterday are actually adults now. So. But if you look at that Royal rumble, Trish, there were a few women who hadn't been in the ring for awhile, and also when they were in the ring, maybe weren't the greatest competitors of all time. You know, that was the diva era keep in mind. That's an era that has become very, very criticized. In fact, Maria canals caught a little bit of heat over the week. I think for saying on Twitter or something that they should bring back the divas title and have it as a secondary title. I don't agree with it being a secondary title, but wouldn't be the worst. He'll move in the world for Maria or somebody from that era to bring back the divas championship and you could compete over it, but it would be kind of just a, he'll title there is there is you could do something with that. I think the the idea of somebody coming up in sticking up for the divas era is where we really start to flesh out storylines because the thing about the women's evolution is with everything being happy, happy, joy, joy in positive. You start. To lose a little bit of that. What makes wrestling wrestling, you know, at the end of a of a pay per view, at the end of a wrestlemainia, you would never want to see all the male WWE superstar is come together and giving each other a hug. You know, if you find out that there were thirty men competing in the Royal rumble, you wouldn't wanna see those thirty men working together as if they just accomplished something great. You would want to believe that they were truly competing with each other. And I think that spirit still needs to stay alive in the WWE even though the women's evolution is such in real life, an important thing. I think he can still be in real life a super important thing without that bleeding into storyline. I think we're all smart enough to know that like, wow, what we're watching is amazing. And it's so so forward from where we were only a few years ago, but we can still see some of that play out in storyline and I liked the idea of some of the older or..

"Situation at least similar to the one that I'm in and that's not to brag that's to say like, I kind of get it. I don't. I try not to take it for granted, and I don't think that I do. And what I do want to do is be able to share that stuff with you and be able to be creative with that stuff. And you know if you if one hour and a half to two hour podcast a week isn't enough is to give you more content. Now from the beginning of this podcast, I made it a point to kind of be independent. You know, there have been offers to join various networks over the years that we've been doing the show the show's been pretty successful. So of course, people have certainly talked, and I've talked to a lug many different people. About networks in and sales forces and all this stuff. And to me, I felt like not Sam wrestling was the one place where I could speak directly to you. I could produce directly for you. It was the one spot where there was no boss. There was no sort of this show. Acts is a directive for this bigger company. Know this show is the whole thing, and this show is really show that I can give you guys access that maybe you normally wouldn't get. That's why we try to tackle it from a fan perspective. That's why we don't always. We don't get cynical very often on this show because there's nothing to be cynical about. It's about celebrating not only pro wrestling and sports entertainment, but celebrating the access that we have to it. And the ability that we now have to create content not only through access, but through. Digital distribution and technology. You know, I've got this amazing not Sam studio inside my house. I've got anybody can use the internet. Anybody can send and receive content. So why not take advantage of all that. And that's why I've always thought it was so important that not Sam wrestling, stay independent, not so much because we're against the system, man, nobody gonna shut us up. We're not following the popular point of view, but more just so that we can do the things that we wanna do. There's no alterior motive to anything to me. The relationship from me to you guys is what this show is all about, and that's why it's and that's all it's ever really been about. It's about talking to these superstars and when I talk or or people in and around the wrestling world, and when I talked to him, I do it from a perspective of of you guys. Have what? What as a fan, what am I curious about? And let's throw it to you unedited on anything and just end just give it to you guys that way when I do state of wrestling, it's, you know, we like to talk about shows after shows, you know the first thing that happens after summer as you start talking to your friends about summer slam the first thing. When you think about what happened this week in wrestling, you just kind of go for it. And that's what I try to make state of wrestling all about is just a conversation that I'm having with you guys about what's going on in wrestling right now and what my opinions are. So in an effort to maintain that relationship with you guys and in an effort to not only. Stay independent, but to be able to start unfolding the not Sam and the not Sam wrestling vision that I have in my head. I started looking around for spots to really expand content to really start expanding content and turn not Sam wrestling into more of a platform where I can I can create, I can bring on collaborators and we can create kind of a whole world dedicated to being fans of wrestling. And I talked to a lot of people. I talked to a lot of people outside wrestling inside wrestling, you know, had long conversations with Bruce Prichard. For example, he and I, from the beginning of him podcasting, he would talk to me about podcasting. I would talk to him about expanding this thing of podcasting and programming in general in everything. And then I talked to some of the good people over at patriotic because patriots something I've been aware of for a long time, but I didn't quite know if the podcast itself fit into the patriot model, and as I started exploring it, and as I started talking to some of the people at patriotic I.

"To bring into the bridge segment and hitch again with some great analysis in the state of wrestling but going forward we're going to start to transition into becoming known as not sam wrestling this podcast is going to be called not sam wrestling because it's too confusing otherwise nazi him dot com is my website not shoes underscore i g is the not shoes instagram account for all my stuff about sneakers not sam across all forms of social media nazi i'm dot com not sam wrestling a lot easier for everybody to remember so we're we're going to over the next few weeks transition into going from sam roberts wrestling podcast and not sam wrestling which i'm very very excited not sam as a content brand is going to continue to expand over the next several months and probably years as well but it's very fun for you guys to be in on the ground floor and this wrestling podcast is going to be a huge part of that because not sam as a content brand as a life styles brand i mean a huge pillar of that maybe the biggest pillar of that but a huge pillar of that revolves around pro wrestling and that's why this podcast sam roberts wrestling podcast aka not sam wrestling is going to be as important a part of it as any probably more so so we go into the interview segment this week it's a historical episode of same roberts wrestling podcast it's a very very important episode of sam roberts wrestling podcast of not sam wrestling because for the first time i don't think i've ever done this before but for the first time we're going to do a to partner a couple of days ago and some you guys saw it on twitter it was last weekend jeff jarrett tweeted out that he was jumping on an airplane.

"Beat that is available for the best value seekie can make it happen they combined data from all different sources so that you can be rest assured that you're getting the best possible deal they guarantee every single transaction so there's no more showing up at the arena having them scan your ticket and it goes along earn and you have to go home it's not going to happen anymore with seatgeek because all tickets are guaranteed to be one hundred percent authentic and it's the easiest way to do it all you have to do is download the app on your phone and get this if you download the app on your phone right now enter promo code sam and you are gonna get twenty dollars off your first seatgeek purchase that's right for listening to sam roberts wrestling podcast twenty dollars off your first purchase from seatgeek all you need to do is enter promo code sam promo code sam today s a m for twenty dollars off your first seatgeek purchase using the seatgeek app thanks to seatgeek one of the greatest sponsors sam roberts wrestling podcast has ever had and now back to conrad thompson totally everything you just said makes complete sense and i'm picking up on on everything and i think most of the people listening can cross some of the tees and figure out what you're talking about and it makes sense to to me and make sense from both spots that there are certain things that when you tell certain stories need to be handled whether it's because of legal reasons or otherwise delicately and you guys gotta come to an understanding i'm just kind of amazed that we're in a time and wwe really has evolved as a company in a lot of ways and this isn't the first time we've talked about it but the idea that you guys would have creative control over your show to the point where you get a rough cut and can approve it is a pretty amazing thing based on where wwe was you know maybe five or ten years ago that was the antecedents of what wwe was all about.
