Ryan Cabrera and WWE Star Alexa Bliss Are Engaged

"I think that social media is a reality in this world In the world that we live in in the world of sports entertainment. And i think that we have to learn how to live with it and i think we can actually use it as a tool for example recording this on sunday and today yesterday at the time this podcast comes out. It was everywhere. Alexa bliss announces that she's engaged A lot of alexa bliss fans are so happy for her lot of alexa. Bliss fans are very sad. Because i guess they thought that alexa bliss was going to marry them until she got engaged. It was so you're saying there's a chance. I saw on the not sam wrestling discord room. Where all are not. Sam shells that are signed up to patriot. Dot com slash. Sam wrestling. That we all get to chat There were a couple of them. That were upset. That alexa was engaged because they thought that that was going to be them. Unfortunately it's not but don't worry you still got the patriot community. You still got us. Not sam shells that are there for you. it's not. it's not all bad news but it was everywhere. She posted this video of of ryan. Cabrera popstar cabrera who she's been very publicly dating Proposing tour beautiful thing. You love is a wonderful thing and seeing join in holy matrimony and become even happier is wonderful. It's one of the happiest things if you are with the right person. The day the night the evening the afternoon that you get engaged one of the happiest times ever just such an expression of joy. It's beautiful. I love it but everybody's talking about it. I mean alexa. Bliss is a huge star. You know you've got. Wwe tweeting about it. And i probably should be. It's it's a little bit absurd to ignore it. You know not only is one of the biggest stars really realistically alexa. Bliss is one of the biggest stars in. wwe male or female. She's one of the most famous people in. Wwe so you know. And this is big. Wwe is big time. Now you got sasha banks over here on the mandalorian which you see. Sasha banks one of the big another one of the biggest stars in wwe and probably the biggest tv show. that's on the air right now. You see that happening which weird. The wwe isn't making a bigger deal out of that. Like if i were. Www shouting it from the rooftops. But you've got that going on at the same time you got to cherry public engagement. You know i mean. I feel like we should let's angle for a reality show. Let's get on the phone. I was watching total balas over the weekend. And i was like you know what i miss. When they would go to wrestlemainia. I was just sitting there waiting for them to go to wrestling. Like oh wait. There is no more wrestling. And that's when. I realized that i was watching total bells for the wrestling parts. They still got daniel bryan on the show. Obviously no more john cena. They're not going to wrestling shows anymore. So it's like oh. I like the balanced. But i'm still you know living in brima to seven but they're not gonna wrestling shows anymore so yes so let's get alexa. Bliss rang cabrera. Let's get blissfully something or other. You know you got bliss already in there you you got it. But here's what. I think needs to happen now that we've acknowledged. Wwe is acknowledged it's all over wwe social media platforms. I think that you gotta lean into it. And i think that you should use it. I think that this can be a lot of fun. Especially because ryan cabrera is also a public person. Here's the way. I think this needs to go. You had this segment on raw last week. Where nikki cross is talking to alexa. And there's this acknowledgement that they used to be friends. Which i think is great. We're not pretending that the election nikki partnership never happened is a big part of. Wwe at the time you know. We're still acknowledging it and alexis doing that. Weird phony friendly like almost like i'm in a trance. Peewee herman thing and nikki cross tells her alexa you gotta pick mere the fiend and alexa. As if it doesn't bother it all goes. Oh okay. I pick him. And walks away and nikki crosses befuddled by the whole thing befuddled. I love this. I think we need to keep this going. You know i look. This is the type of stuff. I want for alexa bliss and the this is why i say. Keep the fiend away from the universal championship. Keep the fiend away from the wwe championship because these are the types of stories. You can tell you know. I think that we should go back and look at who are friends. Were in annex t the start telling those stories and have somebody come out. Go like lexi. What are you doing things. You're you're not the same person what what's happening. I pick him and you know over. The course of a couple of weeks have her abandoning oliver. All friends and then finally ryan cabrera comes out on raw and it's like real life now it's like is this alexa. Bliss is this. What's her name lexi kaufman in real life. I don't know. I only know people by their wrestling names. But is this the real alexa. Bliss from real life. is the character alexa bliss now. We're mixing everything up. Which is what we should all be doing. That's the way wrestling is at. Its best mix everything up. And you've ryan cabrera out on raw and he's like alexa. I love you and she's like i love you. Do you know like yeah. Of course it you love me. I love you. We're we're doing great and he's like well. You're not the same person i thought. When we got engaged it would shake you out of this transfer inches. I'm not in a trance. I'm just seeing things for what they are for. The first time ryan cabrera goes lexi. I need you need you to pick you. Pick me or the fiend. She's kind of taken aback. She's like i didn't realize he felt that way. Ryan that's how i feel and she's like well net case i pick him. He's like what and then you hear bumble bumble bumble and the lights go out. Eat whatever those sounds are and tom phillips going. Oh no not here that's alexa. Bliss fiance pop sensation ryan cabrera and the red lights come on and the fiend is behind ryan cabrera and ryan cabrera's looking around and he's looking at alexa bliss. I what are you doing here. Like this is our real life and then he realized he gets his goosebumps. You realize the fiend is right behind him so he turns around and the phoenix cox's head and sticks his tongue out of his mask grabs ryan cabrera vice skull dips him over gives him a kiss on the forehead and he sister abigail ryan cabrera. Alexa bliss is real life. Fiance get sister abigail an alexa bliss just standing over him smiling. I love it man. I mean i i think that why not why not. I feel like it would be good for everybody involved. Like let's let's blur the lines here guys. Let's not pretend there's two separate entities as it's happening eventually we can tell the story of how like. Oh this is so wild in my personal and blah blah blah but while it's happening muster blending these lines with blurred altogether be like. That's a real fiancee right. Yup like the best is when you're trying to explain to a non wrestling fan. What storyline and what's not storyline. And they get confused because you're a little bit confused because you're not one hundred percent sure where the lines are and who's getting worked by what maybe. wwe tweeting about this was part of the storyline. All along are they even really engaged. I don't even know anymore. I don't know anything anymore. I guess i'm just going to sit here and watch monday night. Ron finds out. Find out what happens next. Because that's the way we should be watching anyway. Just let it play out and see what happens. I would love that if that happened. I would love it if that happened. Socket in our discord room. Says i love that. Sam has cabrera taking bumps like the fiend doesn't use the middle claw. He hit the mandible claw. After maybe alexa bliss puts the mandible claw him or something like that but is taking sister abigail. I mean we are laying out ryan cabrera. 'cause i want e. news. I want entertainment tonight. I want whatever extra whatever. Entertainment shows are left on television. I want people magazine. People dot com. I want everybody posting videos of being like popstar ryan cabrera. Remember him. Well i remember. I remember will now. He's getting laid out by the fiend on monday night raw. Because here's what happens. If you have a pop star that you grew up idolizing and he's getting laid out. Here's the way that works. You get the people who don't watch wrestling to not only get a glimpse of monday night raw but they get a glimpse of the theme. The is one the most unique properties the wwe has. The fiend is the type of visual. That went a non wrestling fan watches. They go what the hell is that. I'm going to have to tune in and see what that's all about. That's one of the strengths of the fiend. And if you got footage of ryan cabrera eating a sister. Abigail and his real life fiance alexa. Bliss is looking on happily in that weird fien state. You got money bro. you got money. I hope they're already thinking in that direction. If not. i'm in text. Bruce richard because somebody has to tell them get ryan cabrera on that show and lay that out. I think it'd be great. I think it'd be great. Congratulations to the two of them. But i have to believe that ryan cabrera. Whatever time of his life. I know i would if my fiance was a wrestler and she was like hey would you mind coming to raw and having the fiend. Give you sister abigail. I'd be like number one. That's awesome number two. After the show me. I get a picture of him in full gimmick. I really wish i could do that. I really wish i mean. I wish. I wish that. I could have one of the shows that i was at the fiend was at too. I wish i could just go like hey bro. Can we take a picture with you. Still in your gimmick and not. Be a weirdo. That doesn't deserve to be backstage. Because man do. I want that picture a really really. Do

"We had a bonus episode of Nazi wrestling for everybody. And it was an interview with Riddick moss from St. L, I'm imagining will be popping up on annex t soon, it really feels like the outliers, tag team is. Making headway at the next. He live events, of course, Robert Strauss to former Robbie e he reached out to me and said, I'd like to I'd like to present a bonus episode of not Sam wrestling for everybody to have access to. And I said, okay. Of course, why not. Let's do it. And so we did it. The audio is up the video will be up on the YouTube channel. But I love that interview. And I think that you guys should definitely if you haven't given it a listen, give it a listen. It's first long-form interviews is first podcast. So it's a lot of information that just is out there about this guy, who, if you saw the annex he combine e made a tremendous splash, and it's a guy who has been at in the performance center for about four or five years and is really at this moment starting to put all the pieces together in just the right way. All the pieces are coming together, and we're getting to see what version of Riddick Mosser we're gonna see on TV so it's pretty exciting. And I'm pretty happy to have that interview as part of the archive of not Sam wrestling. This week's interview is pretty cool to this week on the podcast. We have all ego, Ethan page. Now, I would imagine that you would be most similar from his work with impact wrestling, but he also does work with independence around the United States and Canada. I'm sure elsewhere as well. But even page always has a way of. Keeping conversation going even pages very good at being one of these guys who just keeps the conversation about him alive. You know, he's always got something going. He's got his blog constantly being updated. So he's always got new content going on social media. He's always got new content going on his YouTube channel. There's, it's tough because if you're going to be an independent wrestler, and I guess he's not technically, independent, 'cause he's working for impact. But you know what I mean you have to find ways to make yourself stick out and even pages, one of those guys that does just that, you know, I, I know that he's under contract with impact right now. But I feel like Ethan will be one of those guys at the forefront. I think he could be if you made this choice in his life, he could be one of those guys at the forefront of what independent wrestling is gonna look like going forward. I think that that's something that people don't realize is coming. And Joey Ryan is really the guy who's on top of that, at the moment, but as a e w takes hold an Awa becomes a thing. Eighty w is not the independence Awa is going to have their talent signed to exclusive deals Awa is actually taking talent away from a whole bunch of, of independent organizations. You know, the same way you don't see ring of honor guys, a lot of independent shows, you know, AWS going to be like that only more, because they're on TNT every week they're doing pay per views. They're a major, major promotion. So. With an x t signing a whole bunch of guys with AWS Gupta, a whole bunch of guys, you're looking at the future of independent wrestling being in question, and a generation of, of guys who are gonna have to take that mantle..

"Performance center and this is going through achilles surgery. It's incredible. And now he's kind of put the pieces together and is creating quite a buzz for himself on these next t live events, Remo as he's known in some circles. So I said Robert, Strauss make it happen. He stuck his hand out. We did that virtual handshake over text message and here we are today. It's a bonus episode of not Sam wrestling, brought to you believe it or not by Robert Strauss, here on not Sam wrestling, my interview with Riddick moss. Enjoy everybody, then not. AM wrestling interview, so here on this special edition of not Sam wrestling. We have the man that Robert Strauss's brought to us a member of the outliers. Somebody who impressed, a lot of people at the performance center combine on the WWE network. Remo is here. Lazing gentlemen, Riddick moss. What's the happen? Not much, man. I'm in. I'm in Dallas. Right now we got in late last night. The third show the weekend just tonight. So I'm just waking up and getting getting my day planned out here before the show man, I gotta tell you. I don't know if you realize the extent to your association with Robert Strauss. This is not like a gimmick. This is not storyline. This is me telling you exactly what happens like I was excited for this guy 'cause I've known him for a while when he got signed an XT and they were gonna use him as a manager type character on the show, and then I see you guys are associated with him. I said, that's great. I didn't realize how seriously, he was taking this. I want you to know that like, and I don't know if you've experienced this in your day to day life, but he is literally, the person who put this together. He is not an onscreen sort of Representative or manager of you. He is. Completely taking this role as seriously as any other person it would be like if any other person had somebody kind of being their Representative Robert Strauss's, your real life manager. Yeah. You know, when he first got here, it was kind of a natural chemistry between me and him and right away. We started working together a little bit here and there, and I knew he was obviously very charismatic and talented and I was excited to try to continue to work with him. But as you just said, right now, it's only recently that I've realized this is not, he's really my agent as he really is fully aware. How he said all this up. He set up the TMZ article as well. And like you said he is the taking this serious as he possibly can. And it's, it's really cool to work with someone who I, I like to pry myself on my work ethic and drop absolutely matches it. He he's always thinking about how we can make this, what we're doing better and continue to do what we're doing and, and push it and get it out there. And I think for me, that's, that's a specially cool because I think. The way I drew up in in how I came up through football. I was always hard work for me was just putting my head down and doing the physical work and doing the mental work, but just on my own, and I wasn't big into opening my personal life and letting people in and I love performing in front of the crowd, like I said some of this other stuff that per example today, this podcast. That's what rob is really helped me. Realize I need to do and he's also made it happen quite literally. So that like you said he's absolutely. My real agent and could be more polices. Yeah. It's an interesting point. You know, I don't think and I think a lot of people who come from the world, professional athletics like you, did you know when you're when you're playing college football when you're going, you're trying out for the NFL and all that you're raised to know that the only thing that really matters. It's what's on the field..

I think it'll be five years in October, right fencing. Yeah. I guess five years in October. And from the beginning. This is a podcast four wrestling fans and I'm always gonna try to figure out new ways to celebrate our fandom, and sometimes it's not just kind of going over what's going on in the current product, you know, I'm sitting there and I realized last week that I was getting these feelings of nostalgia and old shows and all that. And that's such a big part of being a fan, especially at my age or anybody, who's in age, similar to me the reason we're as big of wrestling fans, as we are today is because of how big of fans we were when we were kids. So sometimes, I like to celebrate that aspect of the whole thing. And I thought my Johnson was a tremendous addition to the show, and I appreciate it all the positive feedback. I got in the format. Switch up last week when we ended up doing a complete retrospective on e c w barely legal. That's something we're going to continue to do. I got a couple of messages from a couple of people that I think are going to be phenomenal on the podcasts that are kind of interested in going down memory lane. "Too long. You come do the show. So that's why today Mark Henry is my guest on not Sam wrestling, and we'll get to that in a couple minutes. But I I do want to tell you guys. The you have the opportunity to see not Sam wrestling live. You guys have heard about it. I've been beefing with the major brothers. Wrestling figure podcasts for a long time. There's something about these to curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder Zack Ryder, of course, spelled Z A C K H where I don't know. I collect action figures wrestling figures, and it's not something that is a negative force in my life. You know, it's something I enjoy it's an escape. It's a relief. It's the whole thing. But for some reason. Zack Ryder and curt Hawkins have made it a toxic force in their life. Where anybody who comes even close? If you are not a disciple of curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder. If you're not just sitting there just kissing their ass and sitting there and telling them that all they're the greatest and there the Michael Jordan Dwight Howard, or whoever they are of wrestling figure collecting as if that's a thing if you're not sitting there abiding by the church of Zack Ryder and curt Hawkins wrestling figure collections, which means that they are Jesus. And the Virgin Mary, and I'll let you guess who's who if you are not a agreeing with that. Then you're an enemy, and there is you are threat. It's like I didn't cult leader call leaders when somebody comes along and says, you know, this call leaders full of baloney. You guys are all brainwashed. They go nuts. He's an enemy look at that, Scientology, documentaries excommunicated. We can't have him here. He's a destructive force. That's at the major brothers. Did to me all I did was sit there and go like, look, I got my own collection. They started making fun of me. Then all of a sudden, I pointed out, I don't even think the major brothers. Actually collect wrestling figures only do is sit there and by figures on EBay one minute. They're making fun of me for my collection. The next minute. They're spending the first. Forty five minutes of their podcast announcing all the figures that they got their audience to rip them they ripped off their own audience for and they're all figures that came out years ago that they should have had already. What do you mean they came out years ago? But. David they they should have bought them originally. But they don't have Zack Ryder's buying classic superstars what? Classic superstars came out long enough ago that you should have them all but not long enough ago that you would have played with them and ruined him. Anybody who's our age? I'm the same age as those guys if you're buying full sets of classic superstars now, it's only because you didn't buy them. Then there's no reason you'd need replacements, and that's what Zack Ryder's doing because he didn't have the collection because he's not a real collector. But we're going to hash out this beef once and for all at Caroline's on Broadway, you're gonna be able to see us. It's not Sam wrestling meets the major brothers Zaka writer and curt Hawkins live in New York City. Caroline's on Broadway. The whole thing is going down Wednesday night.

"His. Introducing your host from New York here is Sam rulers. Boy, oh, boy, Royal rumble we everybody Royal rumble league. Let's not pretend to not be excited. Well, gun to not Sam wrestling. It is Royal rumble week, which means we've got a lot to talk about today. Especially this Royal rumble week. I feel like I don't know. Maybe it's because WWE is has has been shifting the creative way they do things maybe because storylines have become so influx lately. Talent dropping in dropping out new guys from annexed tease showing up matches changing it just feels like we're on a roller coaster, ladies and gentlemen, and I for one and enjoying it. We'll talk about it all there's so much to get into this week. We've got a lot of Royal rumble coverage to do. And I'm going to have a guest breakdown the Royal rumble in just a minute. Of course, you know. I got this is so I spent a big portion of Monday, I was I didn't have work on Monday over at Sirius XM, Jim Norton and Sam Roberts, and I'm about three episodes deep into the nineteen ninety two episodes of WWF superstars, though were uploaded onto the WWE network. This is what I've been waiting for. I mean for me superstars WWF superstars superstars of wrestling. Whatever you wanna call it. That's the show that I was raised on. That's my childhood. It went from eventually we got to prime time wrestling, then all American wrestling and all those shows, but it was every Saturday superstars every Sunday wrestling challenge. And so I've been waiting for superstars and the format of the show was exactly what I always remembered wrestling to be this is the wrestling that I was raised on for all those years. And so I was super excited. Nine ninety two for me is is is a perfect year. So I like superstars so much that you know, I would go to the wrestling conventions. I still do go to wrestling conventions all the time that's one of the great parts about living in the east coast. But it used to be I think that WWE has crackdown on it a lot probably for the best for their business. But there used to be like these big tables of bootleg DVD's that they would have on sale. And so I bought like, I think maybe I definitely the nine hundred ninety and the nineteen Ninety-one, and maybe also the nineteen ninety two seasons of WWF superstars on like bootleg DVD, and they were all originally VHS tapes off TV and then transfer and then copied and then copied and then copied and then transferred onto DVD. You know, when I was a I was at tape trader when I was in high school, and so that's when I really started to build my tape collection. I had all the paper views on. Tape, and I had a bunch of like Monday night Roz and shows like that though, we're on tape just from taping him at night, and I never wanted to take over them. But in terms of actually building out a collection in high school was when I started tape trading and really building out that collection and finding episodes of superstars and wrestling challenge. Those were the gems. And so I went forward, and and and the in this was, you know, years after high school, this is probably I don't know ten years ago, or so I found that these wrestling conventions, these bootleg tables, and they would sell them like Gano fifty or eighty bucks or something like that..

"But in the meantime, I'll just call him a great guest you're going to enjoy this, ladies and gentlemen, joining us on not Sam wrestling this week, the one in the only Booker T, let's hit it then not Sam wrestling interview while back on the podcast, and I can think of no appropriate or more appropriate time than right now to have him back on, ladies and gentlemen, all hail. He is the five time champion of WCW champion of the world. He is the hall of Famer end he's getting ready to get back into a wrestling ring after four years being away. Ladies and gentlemen, Booker T. What's going on, man? What's the halves? Feeling good right now feeling good right now. Getting ready to go into this weekend. Big weekend for reality of more than anything. You know? I'm all of my guys all of my Krugman this'll excited, but it's it's us. It's us last stand. And I and I truly believe that last they're using this is your last. This is the last time you're going to be in your fighting a Andrews from reality of wrestling. And you're obviously, I mean reality of wrestling is your baby, I guess if you're ever if you're going to have a last match anywhere. It should be at the place that you built in created in that you're kind of trying to use to to create the next generation of talent right up. Definitely. I mean, we we like to triple a professional wrestling. We're gonna be the biggest out there. That's doing it from this perspective trying to get young guys at the next level. Rex Andrews is one of those young guys who've been with me since he was seventeen years old. Move from dothan, Alabama, just totally pick of everything and mood. Houston, Texas, learning art of professional wrestling in he's a grown, man. Now, you know, he's made an OT giving me an ultimatum. He's I wrestle. And you go reality wrestling, you know, and I I can't just let and leave without go ahead and give them a little taste of what he wants. But I don't think he's gonna like you take seven. So did he and seventeen. Did he specifically up route? Because he was like I wanna get I wanna go get trained by Booker t this is this is the person that I want to learn under. Yeah. Man. I mean this kid he moved from dothan Alabama and came to Houston, fences, education and can't reality. Wrestling is a grown, man. I mean. Yeah, the business has Jim basis that he that he's doing this doing pretty well, he trains kids to mixed martial arts as well as professional wrestling. And he's he's a kid that I see, you know, high hopes for he's a kid. That I have big big dreams for of making it to the next level. But you always just wanted to be the best reality wrestling in definitely give him props for that. That's going to be crazy pressure. Like, I'd be so worried that I would develop a reputation for myself the way you have and you'd have people moving from other parts of the country. Just today he get trained by you because I'd be I'd be worried that somebody shows up and they're like Booker. I moved all the way from Alabama or wherever else because this is the place that I wanna be and this is the business that I want to be in. And then you're the guy who if they get in the ring, and you can tell right away..

You know, we talk about his future in WWE. And specifically how long he sees himself? Staying there does he see himself going solo at any point? How about the fact that he got himself into ridiculous shape? How about the fact that he's wearing turquoise? We dive in to all of it and more, ladies and gentlemen. Get ready to brother it up is talking shop coming back. We get into it. How about the fact that he and Liu gallows have his show call botch club on WWE network. Are we going to get more episodes? We get into it. Let's brother it up, folks. Get those two suites out because right now on not Sam wrestling. This is the man himself, Carl Anderson, the not Sam wrestling interview. Welcome back. This is this is a very special day. It's always a special day. When Carl Anderson is here. Welcome back. Carleen anderson. Yeah. Yeah. So what an introduction. Thank you. Sam it warms my heart to know that you enjoy talking to me as much as I enjoyed talking to you ever since the time I busted into your studio full bullet club gear the plane where all my own merchandise. That's right with building things, and you still didn't think I was an idiot baby. Not only were you haven't been back. Of course, not only were you wearing all your merchandise. You had you had a luggage full of merchandise ready to cart down to ralway. So you could try to make a couple extra bucks. Let me let me tell you. Let me tell you the payday I walked out of there with. Oh, man. The people say people say they don't do on the Indies, man. I'm ready to prove improve your own we. Yeah, you were kind of the beginning of that. I feel like you were right there at the forefront of making money on the Indies. Right. I mean now, it's almost like people some people say that there's this model that's been set up by other people. But I'm here to tell you I remember the conversations with you about things like the bullet club and things like making money independently in wrestling way before I mean years ago before anybody was talking about everything that's going on. Now, you know, and I love where I'm at love being in the WWE. Of course, that's the that was the main goal of Ian. Yeah. And almost from for years after I win the Royal rumble. But thing is gallows. An I enjoyed it man because I had my new Japan contract it when I go home for two weeks. I was brother and on the weekends. I enjoy getting out. I enjoy professional wrestling. I enjoy seeing the people I enjoy seeing those big crowd. And I'm Joyce Selma merchandise, and it was the, and we, you know, fortunately made a lot of money right right now. And I mean, and that's that's cleared. Anybody? Now, I feel like every time every time we get together. Something special happens within those conversations that maybe we don't know is going to be a special as it is until later on like what we said the first time we got together. And and all this stuff, we were kind of forecasting. What the wrestling world would look like for years to come. Another time. We got together at Caroline's Broadway in New York City. The first thing you and Luke gallows are talking about. And this is before everybody else was talking about. It was the rock and roll express of session. And I feel like now that they've sense gone into the hall of fame. You guys were there for it. It's become a legend that is so much bigger than just a name drop on a podcast. Yeah. You know? And and and like like, you know, you know, and it wasn't just the name drop because we actually you know, I I grew up in North Carolina nineteen hundred four nineteen eighty five. I had I had posters of the rock and roll express all over my room. I remember I used to I had this one postal Ricky and Robert looking out looking at you..

"Sam wrestling, all the not Sam shells. That are indie darling and above get this video every single week. It's a part of the access that you get exclusively over there on patriotic. I did upload to the YouTube channel for free a small section of last week state of wrestling segment, the debate between myself and Katie linen doll over Charlotte and Becky Lynch, and we'll get into Becky Lynch here on state of wrestling this week for sure because just something I observed about what was going on with Becky Lynn this week on smackdown. On. But we'll talk about it. We'll get there. She's not my number five story of the week. And you know, what we do on state of wrestling? We countdown my according to me Sam Roberts, the last professional broadcaster what the top five stories in the world of professional wrestling were and are this week. And we start with number five, and technically you could argue that this isn't a wrestling story. But this is a WWE company story for sure in anything that affects WWE is a company affects the wrestling industry, as we know it in two thousand eighteen so the XFL leads off this week state of wrestling. And honestly, you know, I think that there is room for the XFL here on not saying wrestling as a matter of fact, come February twenty twenty we're not even going to cover wrestling anymore. It's just gonna be football. I'm just kidding. I wouldn't even begin to know how to cover football. Okay. This is what I say as we talk about the XFL. I don't know anything about the football. Ball. You know, they're talking about. Point returns in. Two point conceptions in whatever, I don't know anything about football. Okay. I sit there with Pat McAfee. I look at all these people we do the next t- shows. I look at all these people they go, Pat, you were such a great punter. I go, Pat, what does that mean? You caught the ball. He goes, no Sam. And he pats me on the head. And he goes, let's just stick to talking about this wrestling. Okay. I said, Pat, that's where I'm a Viking Pat McAfee is as close to football as I'll ever get and I feel bad for him..

"Dot com slash not Sam wrestling. Thank you for all of the great feedback on the Wade Keller interview, I had a blast doing that. And just kind of jumping into that world. You know, I think that the criticisms of wrestling news reporting in websites and stuff like that. I have had a pretty active place here on this show, and certainly on a lot of different podcasts. Whether it's Pritchard or Bischoff people within the industry talk about the criticisms of it. But there guys like Wade Keller and Dave Meltzer. And people like that that have been around for decades now doing this working in this field. And regardless of what you think if somebody's able to make a successful living the writing about wrestling since the late. Eighties. I would say it's worth learning from their success on some level. So it was great to get. Wade. Keller's perspective on anything coming from somebody who actually looks at at what he does as true journalism and somebody who's done it as long as he has. I thought his story was super super fascinating. If for any reason, you skip last week, I would recommend going back and taking the listen because it was it was it was an interview that you probably won't get anywhere else on any other wrestling podcast. And it's kind of I think what makes not Sam wrestling unique. So check that out and you're not going to get this week's interview on any other wrestling podcast, either this week, my guest is Josh Matthews. I've known Josh forever. I met him..

"Not Sam wrestling for the not Sam shells. You already know what we do here in the state of wrestling and that is countdown. The list of the top five stories in the world of pro wrestling this week according to yours, truly the last professional broadcasters, Sam Roberts and it's an interesting week. Of course we covered Saudi in the and the crown jewel and what maybe WWE should do in the bridge segment. So if you're looking for that in the state. Have wrestling, you're not gonna find it. You shouldn't skip segments. Speaking of skipping. A lot of people last week were tweeting me going. What happened to the state of wrestling I turned on, I must have missed something is the state of wrestling, no more. I think I said at the beginning of the show, we're not do it last week. We're not doing a state of wrestling because I was out of town and couldn't do it topically, and that's why I put on the special Caroline show. But if you skip the intro, you would miss that part too. So stop skipping around parts of the show. Okay. That should be number five this week, but we're sticking to wrestling stories. Okay. And the number one story we're gonna have some fun with so. Number five is TNA or impact wrestling as it is now known as Don callous refers to it and everybody referring to impact wrestling, refers to it. Number five is impact wrestling's bound for glory and more specifically the Austin Aries situation. So first of all, I watched bound for glory and I think TNA is doing good, pay per views. I think it's it's. Or I'm sorry, impact wrestling. I keep seeing seeing saying TNA, but it's just it's not for any reason other than the fact that that's just what I'm used to saying. I mean, if you go through the WWE pre shows, you'll find me saying WWF in two thousand eighteen on WWE TV okay. I'm a hardheaded person. I'm not a fast learner is the point even if it's only about three letters, you know, these are. These are worth three letter words are stuff that kids learn in like first grade cat CAT probably before first grade. Probably kindergarten. Maybe the really smart ones, the doogie howser to the world before they even get to kindergarten. Dog DO g I'm good with those. I know a lot of those three letter words. Rock are. Okay. Oh, the c is silent. But for some reason when you explain to me what the name of a wrestling promotion is, sometimes I find it difficult to remember the proper branding, but deal with me here work with me here we're talking about impact wrestling and we're talking about another three letters b. f. g..

"He spent about three years as a key member of the WWE creative team. Not to mention he's a mega mega wrestling fan, so a lot to talk about with court, and I think you're really going to enjoy my conversation with him. Let's get right to it. The interview for this week on not Sam wrestling is the one and only court bow. Our. The not Sam wrestling interview. Here we are. It's the not Sam studio. And with me here on not Sam wrestling from m. l. w. the podcast network, the wrestling promotion, the the universe court, Bauer back for the first time in a long time us the back, what's going on, man? What's the hats? Your studio has much improved since last. Doing this, so awesome. I seriously every where I looked. This is like wrestling nirvana right here. It's really cool. Yeah, I wanted to feel I just wanted to feel very Sam. Yeah. When you come down here, you know the only thing that interrupts the wrestling flow. Is this knickers? No, I love the sneakers. I'm a sneaker head. So I saw was like, this is the best fusion of wrestling and culture. You can get love it or you're one of the few people that got to see this studio as well as the previous establishment where I was broadcasting from. Yeah, which was by living room table. And you know, luckily you were in Westchester, so you ain't going to my apartment podcast. What's crazy too, and you think about Westchester and all the wrestling history here because you have paulie, you have dreamer captain. Lou captain Lou Freddie blassie lived here. A lot of people aren't scholar, and a lot of lot of wrestling came through here. Some the old guys from eighteen hundreds lived here Muldoon the original headliner for Masdar. Arden in the eighteen seventies eighties so this. That's awesome. It's a pretty hot spot for wrestling. You don't think when you walk around the mean streets of Westchester. Right? It's got some rich history and wrestling, you know, especially, of course he thinking about the McMahon's it's yeah, meeting backyard? Yeah, we're right next. I don't think people realize how close we are to Stanford and all of that. But also the Westchester county center in White Plains is a building that's been running. I mean, WWE WWF wrestling in general for years. Everybody that's lived in Westchester for any sort of lengthy period of time, went there as a kid to watch whatever wrestling was, one hundred percent. I remember going there and seeing WWF and booing the natural disasters as a kid and then see e c w and the promo that Polly got kicked out of the county center for cutting. Yeah, pretty explicit promo in its time and just to see the evolution of you've had Monday night. Rather, I remember going there with a fever as a kid, watching it and like ninety three ninety dollars probably at that raw that was when that was. I mean they would take four weeks at a time, but that was when they did. It wasn't Bret Hart vs one, two, three kid. It was Nikolai Volkov. Versus one, two, three kids. 'cause I tell XBox that now and I'm like, yeah, you remember the match bread. Of course he was like, you were there for that was like, no. I was there for the Nikolai mansion and he goes, oh. I saw a lot of good matches there. There was a great steel cage match. Think with Shawn, Michaels and Marty genetic, something like that. Yeah, it was really good. The old blue, shark k, yeah, really good match. And at least a, like seeing the up and coming guys, they'd have dark matches for an. I remember Tommy dreamer wearing suspenders and baggy pants, sparkling pants, I think making his, I don't think it was his debut, but during a dark match a very young Tommy dreamer before he had the go tea and Westchester zone. Tommy dreamer, of course. And so there's a lot history course EC w. Yeah, I was at that w show the ran the TV Tate. Last one you want and only because and so the Westchester county center, it's in its near us here, but it seats what? Twenty five thousand five hundred..

"It's been a busy one. Welcome to not Sam wrestling. Busy week, busy, busy. We and you get to reap the rewards of all of it this week here on not same wrestling as well as over for the not Sam shells on patriotic exclusive content all coming from the performance center. This week are not Sam wrestling. I'm so excited last week, Stu Bennett. I thought was great. I didn't get to promote that podcast away. I usually promote these podcasts because I've been so all over the place. So I don't know if there was like official Twitter post, the episode went up laid on YouTube all over the place. So if you haven't for any reason, if you didn't get to hear the interview with Stu Bennett formerly known as Wade Barrett, make sure that you check that out on last week's episode. And of course, I redid the top ten list the top ten faction list the WWE put out very, very controversial list that they put out a couple of weeks ago. I gave you my list of top ten factions last week on the podcast, so go. Back and listen to last week's podcast. If you missed it may post that video of the top ten factions just so everybody can see it because there was some controversy and I'll get into that here on not Sam wrestling this week. But first and foremost, it's, of course the interviews I was down at the performance center actually a week ago. If you download this show the day, it comes out. I was the performance center a week ago today. So two k games sent out a whole bunch of us probably about thirty of us down to the performance center to see everything that was going on with the WWE and to talk about everything that was going on with the new video game WWE to k nineteen like a week before we were going down. Just got an Email saying, hey, Sam, would you want to come to a to k event at the performance center in Orlando checkout, get a tour of the place to play the game. Do interviews bobble by said, yeah, you know, the whole point of not Sam wrestling is to provide the ultimate wrestling fan podcast experience. So I said, not everybody's gonna. Get this Email. So I would love to go down to performance center, get as much as I can out of it and report back to you share that access with you. And so that's what this week and next week will be all about. We got a whole bunch of interviews to podcasts worth, so we will be playing some of those this week and some of those next week. And I'm really, really excited about it. First of all, I got to be hands on with w two k nineteen, and it's awesome. I play these games every year. I get them every year Smeg from the smackdown vs raw days. I mean, I think the first so I even had like the the Nintendo games, the WWE Nintendo games. The first game that I remember being super super excited about. I was gonna say was in your house for the first PlayStation. But I remember before that, I think the first wrestling video game that I was super excited about was probably raw is war for Segi Genesis. That was the first game. Where you could go outside the ring and they had foreign objects. You could hit people with a chair or a bucket. That was the first game that I think the first game there was a female character in loon of Sean was in that game. There was battle Royal mode. So you could have all kinds of characters. And it was all characters from like the ninety, four ninety five era of WWE. I loved Roy's war for Sega Genesis, but I've pretty much bought every game sense them in your house. Wrestlemainia the game. I think you would reverse the order of those to. You know, smackdown I think was the next series of games of the smackdown series. Of course, the sixty four games. Let's not. Let's not forget to mention when t h q. Lost the WCW license and picked up the WWE license. And what started is w. w. w..

"Patriotair dot com slash not Sam wrestling, but there are still thoughts about all in to be made thoughts to be discussed dos to be had. And I will talk about those when we get into the state of wrestling as well as everything that went down on WWE this week, but my guest this week. So I'm sitting there and I'm watching all in and I'm thinking to myself about what not Sam wrestling is not just this podcast, but the whole idea of not Sam wrestling the content brand, if you will, what is not Sam wrestling and not say I'm wrestling is a space for me to share my love of wrestling with you and quite frankly for you guys to share your love of wrestling with me. But part of that. Means if I have access to stuff, it's stuff that should be shared and I'm watching all in and I'm very happy for a few people who I know I'm happy for m j f who wrestled in the opening match who I have known for a little while through creative pro and wrestle pro here on the east coast. But I was very happy for my friend, Joey Genoa who I had on the podcast could have been a year ago, maybe more, maybe a little less. I don't know. But a while back, I had Joey Genoa on the show, and this was when he was just starting to pick up steam as the guy who you know, Zan dig. Launched and dig off a roof with himself. I don't know who wants to offer roof. All I know is he and dig jumped off a roof into some barbed wire and light post and everything. Now I've known genera for a long time, but that's really where he started to pick up sort of mainstream notoriety if you will. It was amazing to see him at all in in a featured bout. It was Joey Danila in Chicago street, fight against hangman page. I mean, it's a member of the elite. Somebody who people are like, okay, who's who skirl wrestling? Okay. Who's Cody wrestling? Who were the bucks wrestling who's hangman wrestling and Janetta is the guy, and I didn't realize I was going to happen until it was announced. I certainly didn't realize it was. It was gonna be turned into Chicago streetfight until it was announced. But both of those things play directly into the hands of one Joey Nella and I thought to myself so. What would I wanna listen to this week are not Sam wrestling. What do I want to talk about this week? I'm not Sam wrestling. I would love to hear what's going on in the head of one of the people that was involved with all in specifically somebody who I know and that man is Joey Genoa..

"This week on the podcast Samoa. Joe is with us in an interview that you are not going to forget plus it's all in week. We'll break the whole thing down. Somebody quit on raw. Somebody got released by WWE separately. The PWI five hundred is out. We're going to talk about all of it and more. This is not Sam wrestling. Is. Introducing your host from New York here is Sam rulers. Welcoming. That Sam wrestling everybody. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome to the show. So happy to have you all with me here from the NATs ham studio. First and foremost, a lot of people were talking about how much they liked the new intro. I was getting that a lot on Twitter over the last week, all credit to Troy Kwan this what he does for a living. Well, he's a musician. He's an electronic musician, but he also does production like this so you can hit them up on Twitter if you're really looking for some good production for your stuff who want to bite my style and go ahead. Is there to be bitten. He's going to charge you hit him up at Troy Quant on Twitter. That's who did this intro isn't a great, welcome to not Sam wrestling so much great feedback on last week's. Alexa bliss interview and all credit really is due to Alexa bliss. She's just such a phenomenal guest so many good stories and a good perspective. And I mean the head on her shoulders, she's going to be around for a very long time, and I'm very much looking forward to see what her and Trish Stratus pull out for this volition pay per view. You know, we saw Trish Stratus at the Royal rumble at the women's Royal rumble. It was cool to see everybody back. And I said, this is the time. I kind of wish that there was a little bit more emphasis on the women of today than there was on the women of yesterday. I didn't think it should have been exactly equal. I think it should have been called that there were women have yesterday there, but really emphasizing what's going on today because that's the way I am about all of this stuff, whether it's men, women, children, it doesn't matter by the way the children of yesterday are actually adults now. So. But if you look at that Royal rumble, Trish, there were a few women who hadn't been in the ring for awhile, and also when they were in the ring, maybe weren't the greatest competitors of all time. You know, that was the diva era keep in mind. That's an era that has become very, very criticized. In fact, Maria canals caught a little bit of heat over the week. I think for saying on Twitter or something that they should bring back the divas title and have it as a secondary title. I don't agree with it being a secondary title, but wouldn't be the worst. He'll move in the world for Maria or somebody from that era to bring back the divas championship and you could compete over it, but it would be kind of just a, he'll title there is there is you could do something with that. I think the the idea of somebody coming up in sticking up for the divas era is where we really start to flesh out storylines because the thing about the women's evolution is with everything being happy, happy, joy, joy in positive. You start. To lose a little bit of that. What makes wrestling wrestling, you know, at the end of a of a pay per view, at the end of a wrestlemainia, you would never want to see all the male WWE superstar is come together and giving each other a hug. You know, if you find out that there were thirty men competing in the Royal rumble, you wouldn't wanna see those thirty men working together as if they just accomplished something great. You would want to believe that they were truly competing with each other. And I think that spirit still needs to stay alive in the WWE even though the women's evolution is such in real life, an important thing. I think he can still be in real life a super important thing without that bleeding into storyline. I think we're all smart enough to know that like, wow, what we're watching is amazing. And it's so so forward from where we were only a few years ago, but we can still see some of that play out in storyline and I liked the idea of some of the older or..

"Situation at least similar to the one that I'm in and that's not to brag that's to say like, I kind of get it. I don't. I try not to take it for granted, and I don't think that I do. And what I do want to do is be able to share that stuff with you and be able to be creative with that stuff. And you know if you if one hour and a half to two hour podcast a week isn't enough is to give you more content. Now from the beginning of this podcast, I made it a point to kind of be independent. You know, there have been offers to join various networks over the years that we've been doing the show the show's been pretty successful. So of course, people have certainly talked, and I've talked to a lug many different people. About networks in and sales forces and all this stuff. And to me, I felt like not Sam wrestling was the one place where I could speak directly to you. I could produce directly for you. It was the one spot where there was no boss. There was no sort of this show. Acts is a directive for this bigger company. Know this show is the whole thing, and this show is really show that I can give you guys access that maybe you normally wouldn't get. That's why we try to tackle it from a fan perspective. That's why we don't always. We don't get cynical very often on this show because there's nothing to be cynical about. It's about celebrating not only pro wrestling and sports entertainment, but celebrating the access that we have to it. And the ability that we now have to create content not only through access, but through. Digital distribution and technology. You know, I've got this amazing not Sam studio inside my house. I've got anybody can use the internet. Anybody can send and receive content. So why not take advantage of all that. And that's why I've always thought it was so important that not Sam wrestling, stay independent, not so much because we're against the system, man, nobody gonna shut us up. We're not following the popular point of view, but more just so that we can do the things that we wanna do. There's no alterior motive to anything to me. The relationship from me to you guys is what this show is all about, and that's why it's and that's all it's ever really been about. It's about talking to these superstars and when I talk or or people in and around the wrestling world, and when I talked to him, I do it from a perspective of of you guys. Have what? What as a fan, what am I curious about? And let's throw it to you unedited on anything and just end just give it to you guys that way when I do state of wrestling, it's, you know, we like to talk about shows after shows, you know the first thing that happens after summer as you start talking to your friends about summer slam the first thing. When you think about what happened this week in wrestling, you just kind of go for it. And that's what I try to make state of wrestling all about is just a conversation that I'm having with you guys about what's going on in wrestling right now and what my opinions are. So in an effort to maintain that relationship with you guys and in an effort to not only. Stay independent, but to be able to start unfolding the not Sam and the not Sam wrestling vision that I have in my head. I started looking around for spots to really expand content to really start expanding content and turn not Sam wrestling into more of a platform where I can I can create, I can bring on collaborators and we can create kind of a whole world dedicated to being fans of wrestling. And I talked to a lot of people. I talked to a lot of people outside wrestling inside wrestling, you know, had long conversations with Bruce Prichard. For example, he and I, from the beginning of him podcasting, he would talk to me about podcasting. I would talk to him about expanding this thing of podcasting and programming in general in everything. And then I talked to some of the good people over at patriotic because patriots something I've been aware of for a long time, but I didn't quite know if the podcast itself fit into the patriot model, and as I started exploring it, and as I started talking to some of the people at patriotic I.
