"Arkansas and so i just wanna get your opinion on that s. Yeah as of this moment. I would vote Ally drink which one sam pittman okay and also also talk about lsu bowl I mean they ain't going to a bowl this year already so i think it's pretty pathetic that they themselves the self-imposed band but i mean we'll miss. It was way less than what else you got like multiple years full-back looney mason. Let me remind people. Because i think we get hung up on headlines and this is why you do with. Lsu did yesterday auburn. Did it a couple of weeks ago as well and basketball you announce that and most of us look at the headline on the ticker grow man. Okay well at least it's over with. That's just what the school is doing. The ncw has not chimed in yet. So you you have to wait for the other shoe to drop. I think most people around the country were snickering yesterday when when lsu. It's kind of one of those. That joke writes itself mentality going to finish with the. Let's see a four six record. I mean nobody's taking. I mean yeah. They would get a little bit because there aren't enough bids to go around. There aren't enough teams to fill the bowl games. But i don't think they wanted to go to a ball game. There's just no there's just no reason for it. understand do that though. I know for that entry so they hope that doesn't set the to watch on him. But i mean what the whole thing with the child hospital and everything is. There's have something common. I will say i really believe would brooks did there is i mean. You don't often see that because it's hard to when you when you live in the same town as the university. I can attest. I understand how this works. It's hard to get that kind of good reporting in a local newspaper. Everybody's for la shoot down there. But that's why. I think he's got such good future. And this is a story that is a long long way from from being over. Thank you very much for the call. How about tom being next in georgia. Hey tom thank you after him. Paul how you doing doing great. I just wanted to ask you something about i'm a longtime razorback fan. And been you know i live and die with a hogs the here lately except for issue. I've been like hanging my head. But i'm really excited about you know and it's Weird to say that excited about even though they won what three games i'm excited about. The razorbacks has been a spectacular year. And when i i hated even Say what. I did a minute ago about drink. Which winning coach of the year but they did went head to head and i think has done a fantastic job bomb. I'm doing great matt. I believe they belong in at number four spot if they matt i. I say this all all due respect. I don't think many people would agree with you and i. "Offensively can also score i. I mean i think. Shy smith is a very good receiver. Kevin harris is good young back. That's going to be part of their future for sure. In colin hill has has flashes of being a good. Sec quarterback not great but a good sec quarterback so. I still have a weird feeling. This is going to be a close game in spite of all the drama and all the sidebar stories about both these teams right now. You mentioned a minute ago. Mike before you go with the craziness of this year. You've called a few games out of the the press box. I realized the equipment is all good. But how different is that for you. Not being able to look down see. The players feel the feel the crowd because the crowds are pretty sparse. But i'm really curious The difference between being there as you will be tomorrow and being home. It's a great question. I i know on the surface i mean we have all this technology now and you know we we can certainly do it. so many of us have done games from different studios and and from our home and we know how to do it right. We know how to we know how to pull it off by. That's the same measure. It's not nearly the same i. It's hard enough for me. I mean we're going to do a game tomorrow. And there might be fifteen thousand fans here and i'm used to doing games at williams brice stadium when they're when there's ninety. I did a game in the swamp a few a few weeks ago ordinarily they would be ninety instead. There was about fifteen i. That's hard enough to get used to that where the energy is not provided by the crowd and your voice is not fluctuating. It's a kind of pierce through that crowd noise. Which is what we all love as announcers the crowd is such a big part of what we do and how we sound so if you take that away and then you're not even there it's just another level where If you and. I are having a conversation what say in person. We're making eye contact with with one another at four one of the reasons why we don't step all over each other You don't have that when you're in one place and your analyst is in another and your sideline reporter isn't another It's it's just different. Everything feels tick off again. You can do it. And we're all professionals so we're gonna do the very best to put the best broadcast together no matter what the circumstances but we would all tell you for being completely candid about it It it's different and it's just not quite the same. Mike morgan on the call tomorrow night. Sec network of mizzou and south carolina. Mike thanks for coming on. It was good to reconnect. And we'll talk to you again very soon. I look forward to seeing the next time in person. We'll make that. I content. We'll be there. Hey thanks mike appreciate it. You gotta my joining us. From colombia we will take a break More of your calls. I know we've been busy with guests with sam pittman tasks and mike and kermit davis bill. Handcock coming up matched income is up next and we look forward to chatting with him. You're listening to the paul finebaum show podcast slope. We continue looking ahead tomorrow. Lsu arkansas we've already covered the game with sam pippen now. Maj tinge come joining us are the broadcast team for that mad. Welcome back to the program and let's start there. What weird game in terms of the juxtaposing. What happened last year versus this year. How different these two teams are. A lot of people think arkansas can win this game when you looked at it. It looks like they're pretty evenly matched based on what we've seen so far this season the question will be as we learned and it was kind of tenuous up until a couple of hours ago whether or not we knew for a fact that this game was even going to happen there. What did these two teams look like on the field of play because we know that the coaches are somewhat obtuse as far as informing us. Who's available who isn't But the expectation is that arkansas course won't have their full complement of players. It would have been interesting to see this game if both teams were at full strength excited to see it regardless. Because when you think is you just kind of alluded to year-over-year a forty two point dog last year and the arkansas game vs lsu and they ended up getting beaten pretty badly not by that much and the idea that the beginning of this week. They were even favored for a time. Where the razorbacks. That's the difference in season overseas in comparison the trajectory of the respective programs. A lot of. I think enthusiasm a lot of positive vibes around that arkansas team. Especially with the return of their leader in san pittman in the way that they've been able to play this season so far there are three victories. Coach was with us a couple of hours ago and he said one of the things that he he feels like he's done. The most correctly was putting a good staff together which is always tough for a first year coach. But you look at arkansas. You have many times. What do you see In terms of last year versus this year different coach different quarterback lot of different players as well outlook effort. I mean these guys are playing incredibly hard. They're playing as if they have not only a direction. But i hope to actually come out victorious. You think that eventually you know they say winning breeds winning. Success breeds success. A lot of ways sodas defeat. Unfortunately and i felt like a season ago. We saw arkansas. I think four times and it was a program that was in a tailspin and it was really really difficult. Proved impossible for them..

"Monkeys performances. Oc know he's obviously. I think we've seen his his vision for this offense. I just think execution has been has has been the problem. What are your think. The big issue for moncton harrison is the obvious he. I think he planned on having jamie newman as quarterback and he didn't have much choice when he had to start adjusting. So i'm not sure. He can be graded too severely based on what happened with the quarterback position in math is simply was not ready. I thought he's he's probably done. Okay i know that the record may not be thrilling for fans. But i wouldn't blame it on him just yet. I think i think the decisions were made much earlier. Hey thanks for the call appreciate it. Chris is up next. Hey chris hey chris from mobile alabama. I was calling to see what you thought about alabama possibly even afford nater next year. Yeah i mean. I think most shameful have his choice places to go assuming he decides to coach. I have no earthly idea. What he's going to do it is worth remembering the year. After he lost the job at florida he went to auburn as a defensive coordinator. So i would think alabama lsu places like that would be pretty high on his list. I i really don't know what really what he wants to do. I think. I think it's just a you know. Certainly not going to be working for the money with seven or eight million from florida collected. And he's making fifteen million dollars over four years from from from from. Usc hey whatever you want to do good but certainly alabama could he wouldn't hurt alabama. I can tell you that herald is up next in athens georgia. Hey harold hey paul. It's been a while. I think the. I haven't talked to you since the spring when i announced my retirement on air as a professor in athens I i really didn't have much to talk about this year. I normally call your for georgia florida but this year i decided to just ignore that game ahead of time. Yeah now that was a good idea. I think most georgia fans probably Unfortunately as as we get older. I'm so what. I am calling. It involves your department would be the man. I take scott unfortunately passed recently. Yeah yeah. I saw that today Yeah you know it's interesting you know. He's a great player. But i think he's from athens from athens. Is that correct. Willie he i i. I knew him from when he he kinda played is So the sandlot and then. Ymca i think officials pulling carolina joke about his mother. His mother got word up to the dc area so is high. School is actually up there but now he was definitely in athens. Boy maybe not quite as true louis. France arlington pretty close. Yeah here we have to go the break. I heard some some some jake's a who passed away great player for the miami dolphins and the dogs headache quirky relationship with his coaches. From what i understand both was shula within steely. But i don't know much more about it than that anyway. We're up against the break. We hope you'll stick around. We've had sam pippen on from arkansas. We have a lot more to do. "Anybody. Does it just being lifelock? Auburn Fan for? Eighty. Something years I just hate to see code and the drain. because. The way I mean you go back to the Alabama game last year and it looked like this program was was really. Lifted off but but I think sometimes you can just read too much into one game. Hey, thank you for the Call I. Really Appreciate it Herald is up next herald is in Missouri Hello. Hello Paul. How are you doing, herald? Fan that works in Arkansas. So. He. was trying to get your take on which thing in Missouri if they they've already missed one game because they could Miss Florida game possible. GonNa Affect Missouri where do you see them enough and I'm just kind of Arkansas that they seem to be getting? Yeah. The Missouri part of it I mean I I I'm so excited about the LSU. Kirk shrink to me is just a burst of energy and. It's what that program needed. Arkansas is the surprise team. And Yeah I know fans are fans and. Now, every game is winnable but to me Sam Pippen already one. And Interestingly, I, you've heard this. Big, part of the success comes from Barry Odem. Yes sir. It sure does and I think that was just it got to me and and people need to say this is a lesson in life is. You surround yourself with good people You're kind of a cliche you're always should get somebody around you that smarter. Very, Odom was smarter than Sam Pittman when it when it came to being an SEC head coach and because of that, he has helped Sam Pittman become a really good sec head coach and just as first season, we're heading into the break hugh freeze coming up here in a few minutes. "We continue through the program and it's been a really good one and we cannot wait to talk to coach Sam Pippen next he is joining us live from Fayetteville and coach It's always nice to talk to you. Thanks for making the time and how's everything going Oh. It's my pleasure to be here. It's going great. We've we're into practice going to have a scrimmage tomorrow practice seven and it's been a lot of fun. Well I know there are a multitude of questions you may have the answer you may not be able to give us but Callers that we get from Arkansas. When are you going to share with US your starting quarterback? Whenever Kirby smart shares with US via starting quarterback. It's GonNa be a Georgia. That's a good. That's a good answer. You know I don't know. You know we we've. Had A couple guys running. In there with the ones and so what aside you know we're only six axes in. So we have a couple of scrimmage to go through and things of that nature. So. We certainly have an idea who who the top two guys are and we'll figure it out soon. We were just trying to get those a twitter sphere and Arkansas going crazy. That's all coach I would since you mentioned since you mentioned the opener and there's a lot of irony there. We we add your boss on a couple of go and he was fairly outspoken about Arkansas lot with the schedule I know as a coach you just line them up and take them one at a time but. How do you feel like you and especially coach drink which were given? A special indoctrination into the SEC as head coaches with the schedule you got. You know Paul when I got the job I said. We're an SEC west exactly where we belong. So it's kind of hard for me to say were where we belong but yet Dang I don't WanNa, play Florida don't WanNa. Play Georgia. So we're part of the SEC, they're part of the SEC. The draw draw. The great thing is I'm GonNa get to open. With Georgia again because this now make five years that I was at the game, the opening game with University of Georgia so. It is what it is and. Certainly we're looking forward to. Well. Coach I. Think the last time we talked to you the subject was more will we have a college football season? So I at this point, I would imagine you don't mind whatever the schedule is do you. Now, really we we we wanted to play our players of worked awfully hard they. They WANNA play You know we need to play and. Under safe conditions. But now we feel very comfortable what he's done in that category and. So we're just moving forward every day our players are working extremely hard have been really proud of him. And I know I mean getting ready for your first? Game, as a head coach is challenging enough but but I would like to talk for a moment because. This has been such a difficult five, six months for everybody in this country if not the world but in terms of trying to make sure that this is a safe environment how taxing has been on you and your staff. Very. Paul I mean we've spent more time probably on safety. Covert our players than we have on football and I I I, mean, I'm just being totally honest with that however, it's worked. You know we've we've been pretty free of of covid nineteen here and So I, it was well worth it. Obviously, we know if we aren't able to stay safe and stay fairly covert free in our building it's GonNa you know be a problematic for having a season. Coach I know that there's enough challenges. As. We've alluded to, but just from day-to-day standpoint. How comfortable is it for you to? To get used to this job, but but also have all these. All. These wires around and all these safeguards. Almost like not tripping over a booby trap or something I would imagine. Well I got. Introduced to an electric bill and what that allows you to do is have it in your hand and you don't have to take your mask off. So now you know they're thinking of everything possible but you know far as the kids having the face shield on and Yeah. You're concerned all the time and of course, the meetings are certainly quite different because you know we're meeting in indoor so we can have adequate space. For safety purposes. So that's different as well because you know you can't you can't quite hear. Can't interact with the kids is as well. You'd like to because they're so far away from you but you know I it it. We have to adapt and that's what we've done and you know problems only a problem until you fix it and so We felt like we're doing the right thing and we're comfortable with what's going on right now. And coach, your reputation you you were considered among the very best. If not the best line coach in America that's that's not something you do over zoom I'm curious. How has that been and I realized you you're the head coach but but you still you're still a very active coach when you're on the practice field. I am I like to be you know I've been pretty conscious not to just hang out with the line. But here recently, I have been hanging out with the old line and. We're trying to. We're trying to get a few things fix I'm sorry Paul trying to get a few things fixed and and but I'm trying to be very conscious about going around to all the places and of course I watch every rep of everything we do walk through. Individual everything of that nature and so if I'm not able to get around to everybody's individual because I'm down, they're stuck with the line then I'm able to watch it on tape. In coach I know this is a common question for any first year head coach. But you know you've been around, you've done quite a bit. You've seen it. All of have you or what have you found to be? Maybe there's a surprise and you haven't gotten to the first game yet. But what? How would you describe the difference between what you've always done and now you are. You're the head coach of the final you're the final arbiter. But things that. Wasn't in charge of what I'm trying to do daily on a practice field such as two minute when to call the time out when not to jump off sides with twenty seconds left are we going? You know we're going to move it back or are we going to call time out things of that nature that I haven't been directly in charge of I'm trying to do on a daily basis at practice so I'll be comfortable whenever we get into the stadium. We should normally around the corner from this from this season, we're still four weeks off but I would think as someone who has gained such a reputation and has now finally moved to that position I'm sure you always thought about. Maybe wondered whether it would happen what what are your thoughts as we inch closer to that time when you will walk?.

"But let me say this. But Eddie Sutton did Emergency Bass Kentucky Basketball Program is unforgivable and it had to do what Mr Hall. They had to say about the overseas trip. And I'm going to maybe use two or three names of people who are deceased. And maybe I shouldn't but I may Eddie Sutton head a major drinking problem that nobody knows anything about because in Lexington Kentucky in the late eighties there was one young man who was an IBM employees. They had all of these people. Ibm New Yorkers for the main part that volunteered to the University of Kentucky and particularly the Sports Program called the committee one one and this young man Van Florence. Who was a friend of two of my very good friends? Only met van on a couple of occasions but van got calls in the middle of the night for three or four years about Eddie sudden from the Lexington Police Department passed out at traffic lights. Whatever so what happened as he went through that and was not able to continue as head. Coach let me say this in great praise of Eddie Sutton of all the great coaches all the great basketball years at Kentucky Nineteen ninety-six but he had really Kenny Walker. And nobody else. He probably coached the greatest season of Kentucky basketball. Every thirty two and four Any changed the tournament. His failure in Atlanta changed the tournament. They had beaten Alabama four times over the course of the season including SEC tournament. That were trying to be Lsu in the regional finals for a fourth time and got two points after that they started. Dispersing all the teams. You probably remember that. No I was I was at the regional in Atlanta. You had Alabama Kentucky other shoe and I think it was Georgia tech if I remember correctly and it was amazing because I saw I think three of those Alabama Kentucky Games in person and that was an another one of those Dale Brown miracles. They the he was capable of pulling off every couple of years which he did and you know God rest his soul in And I mean that from the bottom iheart the one guy you need to get on the king of the podcast. Rex Chapman Rex Chapman. Probably Yeah you think. We tried to find rights yesterday but Good luck trying to find rex. I I I I remember Eddie. Well and The bigger surprise that I had was I was I was involved in When you got the job eighty five I believe it was. I was very close friends with so one of the people that was allegedly offered that job and he told me the story and you may remember it. Kentucky was hosting the final four that year. That's the famous Villanova game. That was the famous Georgetown Ville. Yeah and Jean. Bartell was my friend. He was the coach at the time. And they they interviewed Lute Olson Bardo and our think Eddie was in the running and they wanted to announce it on the Monday night of the championship game. Gene told me that they he initially accepted the job and they said he said I wanted to go home and talk to my president who was a gentleman named Scotty McCallum. They said no we got. We got announcer right now and McCallum said I need you to come back here when they so he ended up. I was when I was in his office the next morning and he was crestfallen because he really I think knew that was his last shot at a championship so convoluted from the beginning. But Hey thanks for the call. Those interesting story to go down memory lane is up next in Memphis. Hello wet good afternoon. Pong. Glad you're back on television. I've been I rebelled. Worse hit The Sloan and I have apprehension about Lane Kiffin. But I'm calling this afternoon to get some insight about how Matt Luke has made the transfer over to the University of Georgia and what we can look for out of him working with Kirby in the upcoming year. Yeah I talked to Kirby about that about three or four weeks ago and he seemed really pleased now in fairness Sam. Pippen was a phenomenal offensive line coach. And he I think he he left a lot not well let me say he left. A lot of most of the better players moved on to the pros but he still left some good reserves and guys that are going to factor in but I think Matt Luke is in a great spot. I always liked him. Sorry to see what happened happened because I think he was close. But maybe really never had a chance And of course when when he lost his. It'd probably made things More problematic but hey thanks for bringing that up. It's an interesting proposition and I think he'll do really well there. Thank Fall Day with thank you. So we're here. We are where we are knocking on the door of the end of the first hour had she has to replace. Charles Barkley and I know a lot of you. Were not with us yesterday but we had just A. I mean there's no way to have an interview with Charles Barkley without it being memorable and yesterday's exceeded even that lofty expectation rocky bleier. You mentioned you've heard mentioned a couple of times today already. We've we've had wally all a lot of conversation about what he said. In relation to Eddie Sutton later on. We'll have rick flair here. We had maybe one of the most memorable interviews In our last couple of years went with Rick Championship game and hopefully learn more about the return to college. Football Larry. Scott who is the commissioner of the pack? Twelve one hour down. Hope you'll stick around..

It has certainly <Speech_Male> been <Speech_Male> a fun. Show <Speech_Male> Toward <Speech_Male> Davis Jeremy. <Speech_Male> So many other <Speech_Male> Incredible Gas <Silence> Let's <Speech_Male> get <Speech_Male> to the phones and <Speech_Male> check out. <Speech_Male> Joe <SpeakerChange> WHO's <Speech_Male> up next <Speech_Male> <Silence> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> didn't hear Joe so <Speech_Male> let me go to <Speech_Male> read in Texas. <Silence> Hey read <SpeakerChange> go right ahead. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Hey <Speech_Telephony_Male> Paula reappraised <Speech_Telephony_Male> or call <Speech_Male> into that <Speech_Male> Great to have you <Silence> on thank you. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> Yeah I was just wondering <Speech_Telephony_Male> what <Speech_Telephony_Male> you thought about <Speech_Telephony_Male> The Hog over <Speech_Telephony_Male> there and say they'll <Speech_Telephony_Male> Just hiring San <Speech_Telephony_Male> Pittman <Speech_Telephony_Male> this off season. What <Speech_Telephony_Male> kind of momentum that ranks <Speech_Telephony_Male> to the team and <Speech_Telephony_Male> So you <SpeakerChange> think they're gonNa <Speech_Male> let this year <Speech_Male> well. <Speech_Male> Let me start with Sam Pippen. <Speech_Male> I didn't <Speech_Male> know I <Speech_Male> knew. He was a really <Speech_Male> good offensive lineman. <Speech_Male> I was in <Speech_Male> shock when he got <Speech_Male> the job but after <Speech_Male> talking to him and after <Speech_Male> watching and listening <Speech_Male> I I'm pretty <Speech_Male> fired up. <Speech_Male> I think he just may be <Speech_Male> the right <Speech_Male> right person <Silence> for these times. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I think Arkansas has had <Speech_Male> the slick <Speech_Male> car. Sale <Speech_Male> used car salesman <Speech_Male> approach. <Speech_Male> They've had the <Speech_Male> the bread Bielema <Speech_Male> approach and and <Silence> I think he's <SpeakerChange> going to be great. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Yeah completely <Speech_Telephony_Male> agree with you. Paul and super <Speech_Telephony_Male> excited that <Speech_Telephony_Male> he was a guy <Speech_Telephony_Male> at the season <Speech_Telephony_Male> What do you think <Speech_Telephony_Male> about <Speech_Telephony_Male> boys <Speech_Telephony_Male> There's not a lot <Speech_Telephony_Male> of ice and <Speech_Male> Distant <Speech_Telephony_Male> Ville it may just <Speech_Telephony_Male> be some some <Speech_Telephony_Male> type. But what <Silence> do you think about <SpeakerChange> it? <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> Well <Speech_Male> I'm I'm. <Speech_Male> I'm <Speech_Male> not ready to go that <Speech_Male> far but <Speech_Male> I can't wait <Speech_Male> to see him play. I <Speech_Male> can't wait to see everyone <Speech_Male> play at <SpeakerChange> this point. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> Yeah <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> yeah <Speech_Telephony_Male> well thanks <Speech_Telephony_Male> for having me <SpeakerChange> off all <Speech_Telephony_Male> Pataki you <Speech_Male> re thank you. <Speech_Male> You'd be well <Speech_Male> in now. I hope you'll call <Speech_Male> us again <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Arkansas. <Speech_Male> An interesting situation <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> Pittman <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> was was <Speech_Male> literally a <Speech_Male> shot <Speech_Male> in the dark <Speech_Male> by hundred year. <Speech_Male> Check <Speech_Male> a lot of people didn't <Speech_Male> know <Speech_Male> anything about them <Speech_Male> other than he <Speech_Male> was a really good recruiter <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> for Uga <Speech_Male> and he had some <Speech_Male> ties to the state but <Speech_Male> He had built a <Speech_Male> just an all <Speech_Male> world offensive <Speech_Male> line at <Speech_Male> the University of Georgia. <Speech_Male> Anyway we're <Speech_Male> heading to the final <Speech_Male> hour of the program <Speech_Male> We're going to devote most <Speech_Male> of the time during <Speech_Male> this program to your phone <Speech_Male> calls so if you have <Speech_Male> Wanted to <Speech_Male> give <Speech_Male> us a ring. <Speech_Male> This is your chance <Speech_Male> We have been through <Speech_Male> a four or five guests <Speech_Male> and we're GONNA turn it over <Speech_Male> to you at The <Speech_Male> final hour of the week at eight five five two four to seven to eight five.

"USF The school you have to recruit against the most is going to be UCF UCF. Hasn't better everything than USF better stadium better facilities better locker better everything and so just got to overcome that with with sheer force of personality and he may be able to do it and was he made promises when he was retired about their movements. There were no promises. They're working on raising money to build a football building and there's that was underway already. So they're they're working on it. They're trying and he's GonNa actually play a big role in that you know. He's said I will go raise money for you. I'll be a fundraiser. Whatever you asked asked me to do talk to donors take them out you know play off? What what what do you want me to do? I'll do it so I think he understands that too but in the intervening serving time before they can raise that money he's just got to out recruit. UCF But he also has to get those players in Florida who are considering maybe ucf the F. USF to not go to Minnesota to not go to Wisconsin. That's that's the hard part too because those big ten schools the ACC schools. It'll come down to recruit them. They got really nice stuff. And so you you've got to say listen. Being closer to home is better than having that. Nice stuff that you would have and freezing so it's it's a challenging job. But I think they pick the right guy for the other guy. I was going to say that was interesting. Kaelin Board Fresno State. Yeah Did a really good job with them before was amazing at Indiana as the offense coordinator I'm excited to see what he does their fair enough Let's go back to the SEC. Because you mentioned Sam Pittman at the top who it seems like if the culture looks like what it can understand pittman who gets his first big job opportunity here In Fayetteville it with his hires Woodbury Odem in Kendall brawls with his knowledge of the area and that that program I feel like it's either going to go really well or it's just going to be a disaster which is sort of what happens at Arkansas. I guess that is what happens at Arkansas. And you're right. I don't think there's a middle ground there I do like the way he's hired. I talked to him on on my podcast right after he got hired MRS before. He hired kindle browse. I'm assuming he was decently down the road with him and knew what he was about to do from a coordinator standpoint. But you know I asked him a lot of offensive scheme questions and it's interesting interesting because the assumption is oh. He's an offensive line coach. He's GonNa WanNa play that bully ball the that Bret Bielema played back when he was at Arkansas and pit Mosey the offensive line coach. Because there isn't that what all often lying coaches want to do. Well no not really Margaret Crystal Balls Offensive Line coach. And they don't run their offense The Matt Campbell's and offensive line coach. They don't run that offense so I think it was but I do think the offensive line coach thing. The stereotype of it. It kept him from ever being mentioned for. Do you remember. Sam Pippen ever being mentioned for head coaching job before he. Now the Arkansas up no it sorta seemed out of nowhere. He was in a good place. AC was hired away to Georgia. And you know. Maybe he'd be considered for a g five type job after putting in all that time well talking to him about what he wanted to do offensively. You could tell how much thought he'd put into this. How much how he'd put into if I ever run program? This is how I want it to be He was he said. GotTa do more. RPO stuff Work with tempo. Do all the things that take advantage of all the rules and that that's the right answer you know it's not hey we're gonna Ram it down your throat because at Arkansas. You're probably not going to be able to recruit good enough players to do that. It to Alabama or to do that to Auburn or do that's Lsu. You've gotta find a way to out-schemed them at times. You gotta find a way to develop guys to find under the radar guys is and I think you look at what he's done. The Barry Odem thing is great. Because you've never been head coach before so you hire a guy who I realized very ODEM. I'm just got fired at Missouri. I'm not sure would have been fired at Missouri. I thought Barry Odum was a very good leader at Missouri and you look at the situation and he had where the the NCAA sanctions come down. Basically every senior on that team could have left and transferred played without penalty. He didn't lose a single player. That tells you that he had built something there or the players trusted him where they liked him. They like to staff to have have that guy. There is a sounding board for SAM. Pittman is critical. I think I think it's usually one of the things when I look back on when Daboh got the job at Clemson. Not The interim room job when they gave him the fulltime job. Two of his first hires were woody. mccorvey who was his position coach at Alabama had been a position coach like half the schools in the SEC. At that point just one of those guys who had been been there and seen everything and so he was the chief of staff and then he hired Dan. Brooks is the defensive line coach and Brooks had been at Tennessee's the D. Line coach under former. He had been at Florida. Where under Galen Hall? He recruited Emmett Smith so era. Or maybe he's Charlie pill but he was one of those another been there. Seen everything done everything I think that helps at matters that you have that kind of wisdom and experience on a staff when you've not done it before in a pit pitman's not a super young guy but he's never been in that Cherry's never had to make those decisions having owed him. There gives him Matt. Sounding Board brawls offensively not really sure which one's his 'cause yeah at Florida State is it was it was it. His or Willie's We know it was arts when he was the offense coordinator. Baylor I think the probably the the closest distillation to which ones his is the two thousand eighteen eighteen Houston offense Houston which are good. So I like that. I think you know you've got a guy who's experienced recruiting Texas experience various recruiting quarterbacks in Texas. Let's be honest. Arkansas should have quarterbacks from Texas. That's that's the most logical place for them to go. Look for quarterbacks. I'm going to take that as mild maybe some spicy honey just because you kind of know what you're getting into. It's going super hot or not. It's still it's the first time the head coach who yeah to that point had not really he while he'd been interested in being a head coach. I don't know that he exhibited the trailer been allowed to exhibit the traits of Right. So yeah you didn't hear about like he's a finalist with this guy for this interesting job that was the name never came up like that. Yeah now I think that I think. That's more of stereotyping. Offensive Line coaches than anything charts. And I'm I'm glad to see it as you know. The the. The coaches are very thoughtful. People they're very smart They look at the game in a different way. And you look at look at the guys now. Cristobal Matt Campbell Kirk Farance. There's some really good head coaches who were aligned coaches fair I don't know what to think about. Eli Drink wits. I know he comes in with people thinking he's smart the the NC state offense was was pretty good under him. He was at boy sees at Arkansas state from the Guthrie. I think he was at Springdale with Gus as well But he just sort of kept everything going after Scott Satterfield leaves APP state and he's gone after a year and so I I don't know how it can be viewed as anything other than incomplete. Well I'm with you so two things in the state of North Carolina Yeah. He's the head coach at Appalachian State for a year. They're really good. But they were really good under under Scott Satterfield and Jerry more right. I mean they've always been really good at Appalachian State. How much of that is what was already already in place? The players that were already recruited. So there's that you you don't know and we won't know the answer to that really probably until we've seen him coach Missouri. What we do do know though is it? NC State fell apart when he left. Yeah that's true. So I do think that is sort of a notch in his favor unfortunately for NC state that when he took off. NC State suddenly became a very bad football team Especially on offense. Yeah so you could could say he was the straw that stirred drink quits. Oh you've been sitting on that. I like it though I was sitting on my my hiring. Firing perspiring aspiring thing is. There's no reason you can't well listen a long list of Jerry. Jones is probably way better than than one bad pun. Yeah I'll take it So I take it as mild just because is you don't know exactly like the the hires have been okay. It seems it just. It's hard to look at him and say all right. I know exactly what Mizzou is going to look like moving Ford. Because when they were successful it was a long time experienced head coach. Who slowly built the program into what they were which was an sec champion? Yeah et Al say this again. I say this every time his name comes up but we do not give Gary Pinkel enough credito Gary Pinkel as a miracle worker and that two two thousand Thirteen Missouri team had a playoff might have made it and might might have done something real special that that team was awesome. That's the one that lost Auburn in. Maybe the most well one of the most fun. Sec Championship Games ever played That that team was loaded and we just we do not give Gary this. This is the same thing. I was saying about Mississippi State with Dan Mullen where they won so many games under him that they started to think it was easy to win their right. I think Missouri was the same thing Gary Pinkel was so good for so long that they thought. Hey this is just normal. Let's never been normal Missouri. They were really good in the big twelve really good in the SEC east under him. And by the way to bring it back to Barry. Odem that I think it was two thousand fifteen defense that he coordinated from zoo was like got top five national defense with a bottom five national offense which seems like Bob. We'll know remember the ultimate of that. Is that your at Boston. College went on Brown. Was the DC where they were the number one defense and the dead last offense. It's UNBELIE I can't imagine how taxing taxing and frustrating that has to be good for that coordinator WHO's able to keep a team focus like that and there's a reason Don Brown succeeded before Ohio State Games and there's a reason I think Barry Odin will keep succeeding. I I'm with you there Now the question is can Arkansas bring enough talent with Barry ODEM there to enhance in pitman their fair to to beat the teams to earn their division. Because you know that's the part when we talk about these ss US jobs jobs with with Leach with Giffen with Pittman. These are all the bottom of the SEC west jobs you know you've got the defending national champs. You've got the program that's been the best program in college football for the last ten years Alabama you. You've got Auburn. which is every other year really really good? You've got Texas A.. And M. which is paying a guy seven point five billion dollars a year and and he'd better win soon and oh by the way he does. I have a pretty good roster right now. So that's the issue with all those. Sec West hires because you know. I think Arkansas fans are happy. Now that they've gotten here pip and I think they. They weren't quite as jazz at first but like Oh miss fans are over the moon. Mississippi State fans are over the moon. They I hope they don't think this means they're going to win. Sec Championships..

"Spice scale. Because why would you do anything other than that. Once you realize that. That's an option. Andy Staples thanks for coming on old. Thank you Dan I a I am proud to say. I have consumed the extra extra extra hot at Prince's in Nashville the basically the founders of hot chicken skin in America and so I feel like I'm uniquely qualified for this in fact I'm going to send you the video of myself eating said chicken In select it's like a chicken grenade essentially or spice grenade. It does not hit immediately but when it does odier Lord it's not the explosion it's the shrapnel that's where they get you the after effect. It's well it's not just the after effect it is intense. It's and it's intense for a while like normal spicy food. It's intense for a few seconds. It's intense for a solid minute minute and a half. It's it's different now but I still recommend to everyone who who loves hot chicken because this this is the place where it was born The the legend behind it is incredible. You know he was out cat and around and wifey did not appreciate that and so for breakfast she just emptied the contents of the spice cabinet into the dredge. And there you go so yeah this. This is the sprints family. Yeah yeah so I mean. Infidelity has never produced something so delicious. That's the tagline for the Andy Staples show. I mean not accusing you of anything but by parents of something but that is true. No that was I was born in blessed wedlock out there but all right but the Andy Staples show I am glad they found any staples to host that it would now very awkward otherwise but A also the name of the show did not occur to me for a solid two months three months the initials were ass ass. Yeah I mean that's A. That's a very key component of college football ABC News. If you're going to choose any direction to go oh when putting together a roster you can do worse than putting together a team of ample rump individuals. Well that's exactly right and the thing about the show. I mean it's we were talking about some serious search engine optimization. I don't know if we're seeing the colon. After after the name of the show which is funny asked Colin will after the word ass. Yes it says a show about college football so basically basically we are. We are the. What time is the Super Bowl of podcasts? You're now in your APPS. The Andy Staples show subscribe for College. College football podcast. It's a good name. I can't I can't hold it against you and also if we have time at the end of the show after we discuss new college. Football hires within the context of hot chicken spiciness. I WANNA do a show within the show called like I dunno chat and chicken poultry pals. I don't know what it's GonNa be just about the state of Fried Chicken in your in my world. Well I mean given how you and I have a Kassim Spurs letting as is being in the bag for big poultry. I think we probably should clear the air. At least we're not the most talented duo. We're not we don't suggest yes. I guess maybe we do sound the best. But we're not the smartest we are not the most connected but we do notice ongoing trends in college football media perhaps better than anybody else it it is a it is a gift I assure you but my contribution to that writing the greatest chicken sandwich on earth. which is the only served on Tuesdays? At Blue Barbecue Hyun Orleans mine was made earnestly there was no nothing from above. That said Andy. You must write about chicken today. So I know everyone thinks it's a vast conspiracy that espn se and people at the athletic or supposed to write about chicken. Sometimes it just works out that way. Yeah well when I when I hear the that Tyson or purdue presents the Andy Staples show that's p. e. e. R. P. U. R.. Then I'm GonNa know something's up. Well what if if if I give Sam Pippen the highest of grades probably know. Oh Tyson chicken is involved here okay. Here's here's the The the movement right into the head coach hires. Let's start with head coaches and I guess in in terms of actual spiciness. It would be hard to go anywhere else but the state of Mississippi I would. I think it's probably easiest to say that Mike Leach and lane kiffin who coached against each other in a different conference that is spiciest duo in just a specific state. So what is your perception exception of each of those hires. And if we're going to define spiciness I suppose by how is the fit. It's not it's not necessarily we need to find the next Dabo. It's how does this person fit at this school. You know. It's all the jars that I came up with ten minutes ago. It's hiring firing inspiring tiring Out Other teams and I guess all while perspiring Very Nice Don King of me What what does the spiciness? What is the fit? Where where the factors to you with Mike Leach at state and in Lane Kiffin? It'll mess. You gave me some helpful levels of spice which I'm glad you did. Yeah we we started with country slash southern which I'm assuming is so is is no spice at all just salt and they got mild mild spicy honey medium. Hot Extra Hot Howland or atomic or reaper with the sight of frozen wasn't teepee assuming frozen t toiletry. Yes correct correct I will. I will change the last one to nuclear. Yeah that's fine anything that is beyond. Just your standard adjectives. Yeah there was a there was an incident when I was in college with with the nuclear flavored hot wings from from winging it now okay I wanNa make sure people do understand. We are talking about national hot chicken. We're not talking about hot wings. Because I remember a few years ago back when Nashville was the only place where you could still get hot chicken. You'd say hot chicken and people. We'll go wings Buffalo Wings Yeah but the rest of the country has hipped to what hot chicken is. But just in case you don't know it is as a whole piece of fried chicken fi breast when he went and it is fried and then the way that most of the places spice yes it is they use kind of a pepper paste that they put on it and the pace set varying degrees of intensity depending on how bad you WanNa hurt afterwards and what what types of peppers as they use. Yeah yeah so like you go to get the extra extra extra hot is hotter than blazes of Hell like their medium is hot if you go to a hot chicken takeover in Columbus Ohio Dave kind of dumbed it down for a non Nashville audience amateurs. Yeah what No. There's still delicious. You just have to sort of sizing up shoes. You know. If if you're normally like it hot would get medium at princes you have to get the hot not at at hot chicken takeover all these other places that have sprung up. So I'M GONNA go with with nuclear for the for the top level going to go nuclear on both of these hires Eilon Lane Kiffin and on Mike Leach because this cannot possibly possibly end well from egbo perspective right. They actually liked each other. My guess is they'll end up hating each other. This is going to be an intense recruiting rivalry an intense rivalry on the field. If they do manage to do what they've been hired to do in make their programs better then imagine if the egg bowl is for say. We're not going to say for the SEC west title. Let's not go crazy. Alabama LSU Auburn is still in the division. But let's say the egg egg bowl is for a new year. Six Bowl berth shirt. which is the ceiling for both these teams? We've seen them in the last decade. Get two New Year's six games Mississippi state. That's number one in the country. Entry Ole Miss Has Beaten Alabama multiple times. So I I think your ceiling is correct. So I mean I'm assuming because of the stakes of the game that no one would try to pretend to urinate nate on the field. They would probably try to pretend to defecate on the field and that would probably I don't know. Is that a thirty yard penalty if pertaining A. P. is is efficient yard penalty pretending to poops. GotTa be thirty. So if you do the if the Adam Corolla like using the football as deuce prop yeah then. I think at a certain point if you're if you're bringing props into it then it's it's multiple unsportsmanlike. Sure yeah so that's GONNA cost one of these teams a spot in a New Year six bowl and in an probably the coaches are going to blame one another. There may be a fight at midfield. I cannot wait for any of this by the way I am so excited about the possibility of of all the things that might happen when Mike Leach and lane kiffin coexist on either side of the nastiest rivalry in sports. Are you believers reverse. Are you a believer in either of them getting them getting their respective teams to near six ISH territory. How of the hires been in your mind? It's you know does is it. The right. I guess era of their careers to be making this move. Yes I think both of them can do it. And if you say oh. We can't both do it at the same time. And we'll actually you kinda can because Mississippi state one of the Orange Bowl. After the two thousand fourteen season Ole miss went to people after the two thousand fifteen season so it. They've been good at the same time. And so it's definitely doable. And I think this is a case where they can out. The LEECH thing feels more of a sure thing I guess because look at what he's done Texas Tech Washington State both places that it's it's not really easy to win. Their kind considered the most remote location in their league. Right he had them punching above their weight. I would assume he does. Is the same thing here. Now it's not as remote as those places. There is a lot of talent around there but the thing is it is cutthroat competition to get that talent including competition with lane kiffin. And the Ole Miss Staff which lane kiffin hired a very aggressive recruiting staff. So they're gonNA get after it. Leach is is going to have to try to do that too but I think if you look at history punching above the weight that's what you want. Kiffin is a little bit different story because because obviously was not ready for the raiders job. I thought he did a decent job as Tennessee's head coach Yeah the record may not reflect it it but you have to think of what he inherited and what they actually did that. That team was better than it should have been. USC was another story. Had One good year with them but was Kinda underachieving the rest of at the time so the the question is is what we've seen at Fau an accurate representation of Lane Kiffin as a head coach because obviously the stakes do rise. The degree of difficulty rises when go power five school. So we'll have to see about that. But if he's if he's the guy he was at fau and that was an accurate representation. Then I do think ole miss can be one of those teams that wins seven or eight games year and occasionally cycles up to a very good record to to a nine ten win season season and if that happens and leach does what he's supposed to do we're going to have.

"sam pippen" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show

"Back and we've had a lot of people all we had lane kiffin on Tuesday yesterday on Monday we had lane kiffin on yesterday. We had Drink which we have not had Sam Pippen on. We are hoping to get him as soon as he comes in from the cold or or otherwise known as the recruiting trail. But so we have a somebody just as interesting Josh to Cheney hosts the Number One sports Colin show and North West Arkansas. He is the voice of Arkansas and he joins us now. J. B. of great to have you on before we get into how pippen has been received. Can you tell us what transpired over the last couple of weeks with one hundred year. Check after dumping Chad Morris especially his process because from a distance same rather convoluted. Yeah absolutely great to be out with you all and happy holidays to you and and all your listeners and and yeah I think here we're just we're grateful full it's over. That's for sure. Search that that you just brought up for For San Payment that took you believe four weeks for Arkansas defined itself a head coach and he asked me what went on with your check by the scenes. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention to you. You know the last time we talked to a couple of weeks ago all signs were pointing elsewhere. And so You know did Arkansas. End Up getting the number one number two top five kind of candidate on the board. I I don't think they got the top guy or two but they certainly got somebody who wanted the job and truthfully this is a tough job right now as you well know in a job that is not in in high demand for big time coaches so they probably get their first or second choice but they definitely got the guy who wanted the job more than anybody else. Well that's great Who wouldn't want a four million dollar your job J. B. Tell me this Who did they target and what happened? I went over some figures of names. I think you're onto it As much as anybody Paul I. I think you know Arkansas was interested in a guy. Like Lane Kiffin. Oh I thought you know represented really well and your show talking about his interest in Mississippi and a chance at the SEC again. And there's still some talk around here right now. What exactly went on behind the scenes? I heard a caller on your show just a little while ago I think is privy to the same information. I am that Arkansas was people interested in Lane Kiffin and went pretty hard after them. And then as you said yourself a few minutes ago Paul Paul. I'm hearing the same thing that things didn't go much beyond that. Once we got into the middle of last week it was very evident. That Lien was not interested in Arkansas. And so so what does that mean that meant the hawks scrambling and what they did was they went out and got a couple of coach. Is some good raises Matt Campbell Iowa State Mike Leach a Washington state. Both guys interviewed with Arkansas. Both guys got more money to stay. Put and Arkansas ended up going after Sam Pittman. Who is you well now was already an offensive line coach here for three years under Bret Bielema so They they get San Pittman. We watch his news conference yesterday. JV I knew you were there. I really didn't know what to make. that Through the Lens of television. Tell us what it was like inside that room. It was interesting Paul and I've been to way more of these than that'd probably kid remember in the last few razorback football in fact I was thinking about that the other day five times now in the last decade. I've been there where you know. A head hog was introduced and they spoke about how well hopefully he'd be there forever. So I mean we've had this happen too often and they've been stuck in a Rut for all the reasons that you and I discussed before I thought that came in. and You you know truthfully. He looked like a guy who was grateful for the opportunity to be head coach. Finally I felt you saw genuine emotion and enthusiasm you. I saw some some tears of happiness that I thought were real and I thought that was a good moment. The folks in the room clearly on his side. He's got family throughout this area. He is is one of those guys folks in Arkansas from Oklahoma. Originally but folks in Arkansas would call Pittman a razor back through and through and if you look at what happened with them under Bret Bielema Guy. I tried to play. You know. Bully Ball Bigeye. Football at the line of scrimmage and then when San Pittman laughed and went to George Join Kirby smart you saw George just descended on the offensive line and Arkansas has been disaster. Ever since so pitman pointed to that. He pointed to his recruiting. He pointed to wanting the job. I thought he looked at a little bit tired. Like a guy had probably been in a world wind for the last day or two like. He admitted he was. But you know. Did he win the room. It's pretty hard not to on a day where folks are feeling more relief than anything clearly though and I'm sure we'll get into it here for for a second or two Paul a lot of questions around San pigments hiring right now. What are the biggest questions other than he has no experience as a coordinator or head coach? Well there you go. I mean you're five I'm for a reason you know what you're talking about. This guy has no experience as head coach in Power Division Division One power. Five football hasn't been head coach since Hutchinson Community College and Western campus. What's let's be real is a quality Juku kind of program but that was twenty five years ago? You know I've had folks this week our morning show that you were kind enough to bring up. Paul mentioned in how they think he was a great high school coach in the early nineteen nineties. It's almost you know we're talking thirty years ago. Let's get real here. He doesn't have that experience. So what happens in games when he's gotTa make decisions with everything on the line and he's learning on the fly and he's not learning on the fly for a program that has any kind of marching arching forever because as you know. Arkansas has gone seven and twenty nine in the last three years. So it's been a rough go at the inexperienced is a concern with him. I think you wonder about his ability to put a staff together. We're going to find out more and more by the day here what happens. In that regard. He hired Brad Davis and gave you've Arkansas fans at least a glimpse into what he's GonNa do on the offensive line by getting Missouri's O.. L. Coach to join them just yesterday but nothing else yet. We don't know the offensive coordinator. Peter is or the defensive coordinator and for a guy who has no experience. As you point out you're GONNA have to make homerun hires I'm at staff to lift himself up up and give himself the chance I Listen without having talked to him. Personally I don't know much about him. I don't want to prejudge from the press conference but J. B.. You've been Chad Morris's and fist. Because he won the press conference he obviously didn't win anything else Bielema. It was a real personality. We both know that poor. Trina was not much of a personality. But he's a great coach. I I'm not saying saying I'm troubled by I but just seem rather lethargic. That's a fair word. You know adverts some folks around here say he was fatigued Kinda came across like he was. He's a little bit in a daze and again I think he was. I think San Pittman Looks Pitman's gotTa come on your show Paul. I mean that's a spot he needs to be on. He needs to politic razorback football. And he's GonNa do that way better. Of course then a guy like even try to do here but I at the same concerns do I mean you and I are on the same page here and I think at the end of the day. If you'RE GONNA look at this in the right context you have to one hundred percent real and hog fans are GonNa kill me for saying this but it's the truth you have to be one hundred percent real about the fact that you are not a sexy job right now. You're a job that has destroyed careers and I was talking with our mutual friend Adele Daniels about this just the other day. There's almost no track record of coaches as you come to Arkansas. And use this as a springboard to better things in their careers so that kind of rumor of coach killer you that you hate to see is he's hanging out there right now. I don't truthfully no who else they could have gotten so you could question a higher. I think you're right to do it. Probably hold although second. I mean Mike. Leach's name came up. What happened to that? I don't know I mean seemed like had legion. He's been hired. That was a pretty dynamic higher compared the Sam Pittman. Don't you agree. I think we would have been exciting. I think lane Kiffin who I took I talked you know excitedly about on your show a couple of weeks ago. I think he would have been a good fit. I think hundred your check wanted a guy like that but at the end of the day look they just couldn't get them in. Arkansas is paying two coaches coach's not to coach here right now. I know Chad Morrison joined forces. Gus Malzahn at Auburn. That's not gonNA cover is four million a year buyout. So they're stuck between a rock in a hard place called. I wish I could paint it prettier than that. But that's where they're at right now and they just have to hope that Sam Pittman turns out to be. You know I keep hearing the next at Orange Ron. We'll see about that one josh. How did they get to Pittman? Because I mean listen if the two of us were in charge of the Arkansas coaching search. And we'll get tired. We turned down by Leisure Leach or or lane or norval who was nowhere near the job. I doubt we would have gone to Georgia to find the offensive line coach. What what led head hunter to their other than the fact that he worked at Arkansas which is only commonality? I can come up with a great question you know and I and I try. Try to think back to the Chad Morris. Iron Mike novell by all accounts really wanted the job a couple of years ago and of course he hadn't had that incredible back to back seasons. He's just added Memphis but whatever happened there. They rubbed each other the wrong way he was not interested. Like you said this time around and with Florida state call. Why would you be so he wasn't there? The Gus Malzahn thing thing is just been star costs. It's never happened. He wins just enough that the folks at Auburn you know. Put up with him and he puts up with making seven million a year. I would too. So that hasn't happened happened. Even though you would think it makes sense you know you brought up leach. I brought up Campbell's extension. He didn't want the job. I don't know wants a job right now. San Pittman as family family here. He enjoyed his time here. He appreciates North West Arkansas. You know it's a nice place to live. I think they did the best they code given they were stuck between a rock and hard place place. But but you know you don't need me to tell you to do your show. I think you're asking great questions right now about hunter. You're checking his search that I unfortunately cannot answer for you. Firsthand okay Let's forget all these questions and let's try to weed out the fans who would be supportive of of anyone for that matter. It doesn't matter whether it's Sampit Moore son of Sam. What has been the reaction on your show.

"Is live in well. And we're glad you're here busy busy. I our Combo about the new. Your coaches and we will have one of those new coaches with us In just a few minutes you think it is which one of the new three coach I three coaches. You think. We'll be making his appearance on the Finebaum show today who just do a train. Jacob Cup is in Detroit. You're on the Air Guard had been house gone. We are doing great good. I'm thinking Michigan State. Fan had a question Michigan State football for you and then a comment about the Arkansas higher saga with the comment. I I don't understand understand pittman higher really does not make too much sense Especially when you have a guy like Brian person out there whose at a ton of success boise state eight and Pets Cochin State Arkansas. Before I don't know if he wasn't offered the job or be interested theory weird higher at Arkansas and I was wondering if you heard any word on his Dantonio for sure coming back. Michigan State is any any perspective hires. Yeah I think they'd Tonio is is going become back although I don't know anyone who wanted to come back to you absolutely not. He's a dinosaur. He needs to go. And that's the problem when you get past asked a certain point and by the way this is really applicable in any job and sometimes it's it's obvious in this case. It's obvious he needs to go. I Really WanNa wait until I talked to. Sam Pittman Because I just I mean it's so unfair to say okay. is not a great hire because he's an offensive line coach. He may be dying and he may be a dynamic personality that we are unaware of. I mean he he definitely could be but it just seems like a strange higher. You have. Yes talented guys out there From celon major programs I mean even if you look data from From you a clerk drives me crazy though. If you're the athletic you basically have your job is to to hire and fire coaches and to administrate and you know when when you make a chain. It's one thing if you suddenly you're confronted with something out of your control that you're not you don't see coming but this one. I mean how much more time do you need you. You would think especially after firing They're coach one and a half years in he. He didn't even get a full run. You think that okay. We'll we'll fire coach and then we sort of build the direction that we're going. I Chit Chat. Morris was fired on November tenth. This is December night. He Hunter Year check. Had five weeks to get ready to replace him. I mean that that's an enormous amount of time and I don't care what number choice he is on. I just wanted to hear an explanation of how you get to the how you get down to. I mean what I mean. I can't imagine Sam. Pittman was in the top five choices early on can you so. I think you're definitely right. It could be tied the situation where it maybe inside the did they hire these guys. Carson's I look fickle and then they were just really wasn't any interest that you've heard bullet. Listen what you always do jake. Thanks for the call you so you knew he was gonNA listen Chad. Mars was GONNA get fired as early as October so you knew he was going to be fired union. I don't know I don't know what process Arkansas I use a lot of times. You hire a search firm some really good remember. We had Dan Parker on this program about a year ago he's he's runs one of the most respected search firms in the country out of Atlanta. And what they do they. They don't hire the coach for you. They they vet coaches all year long. They they meet with coaches they with administrators destroyers and then they'll help you formulate A number of people to be considered. And then they'll tell you okay. Listen Sam Pippen. Here's a here's here's the dossier on him Here's what you know what people say about him. Here's what They don't like what they do like. Are there any Concerns about him. has he ever As Ever J. walked I mean seriously they will they they go deep into a file and you know a school like Arkansas Would would contract with one of these services and start Vetting out the candidates and then like like lane kiffin. I I mean you know what you're saying okay. Well he's got season. I'll go down and see him as soon as his games over lane kiffin. That was Arkansas. And with Ole Miss As recently as a week ago and Kiffin I think through his agent Jimmy Sexton said. I don't want that job. I want this job so they they weren't If somebody said they were blindsided by Kiffin no they weren't Kevin was not going there so they ended up with who they ended up with. Ryan is in Starkville boy. Okay Ryan F. too high one this weekend Atlanta I saw borough. Oh wonderful. Saturday talked yoursel. Probably the highest type. Joe Thank you very much in the start. Renamed.
