"The people in the world to agree on anything is going to be like cats, marsh on the parade, but yeah, I don't put a flat earth flag up there. Yeah. Yeah, depict the flat pancake, orbiting around the sun. It's circular, but it still looks flat to me. Man, yeah, and it's like, I take that as the ultimate example of darwinism the flat earth people. Steve, I hope you're not a flat earth guy. Don't let me down Steve. Steve is our one follower in case you're wondering, yeah. But anyway, so your opinion is that it should have been depicted. They should have shown it. I mean, if it's part of the story, yeah, I get that, but there's. So much if a lot of this story was about the whole lead up to it. There's a movie called the dish with Sam Neill, and putty from Seinfeld. Warburton. It's great film. It's about, but it's set in Australia. It's all about the dish. On the other side of the world, you know, getting the signal and beaming stuff back so that you can actually see Neil Armstrong, walk on the moon in here, all that stuff and about how they almost lost the signal and trying to hurry up and get it back. Great film. And it only has the audio and stuff. Well, it might show the depiction. But most of it was all about being the trials and tribulations of the guys made in the satellite trying to get the signal back. So I can see it on that other side if they're not actively showing it. But if they did it, thinking that people were going to be butthurt, then that's dumb, but I don't know. I didn't really have a lot of skin in that game. Yeah. Well, to me, it's also the movie does depict because.

"I don't wanna go that far. Because i know someone in chad is going to be like your idiot but like i was going to compare them to roger cormon but blunt minutes actually makes good movies. No roger corman made bad movies but you know working. He made a particular type of movie. Exactly those were the ones that you turned out but bloom houses. It's more about a cost effective. However you feel about the movies it is a money making venture in the same m night like yeah absolutely Yeah no i. I i is. Maybe that bloom house may be the master at that. i don't know of anybody else And and you know if my knowledge is has holes. Please correct me in the in the comments but i do think that they might be the master at taking a very low budget. Five six ten million dollars and turn it into you. Know ninety million hundred million seventy million. Whatever what have you i. Don't know of any other filmmaking Filmmakers or production house that this actually doing that or has done it as well dude. I know you've been doing shows all day. But can i talk about the state of cinema currently sure all right. So member went horror movies. Were really bad in the eighties and you went and saw them because they were punk rock but everybody like all. The biggest movies were comedy. Sure you'd have some tent poles but most of the music you remember from the eighties. The comedies romance. Ya romance things. Oh yeah there are action and comedy and whatnot. But those movies nowadays have become bland because of the nature of filmmaking. How they wanna message how they wanna market and what is going to appeal to the widest audience. The only place that you know shit is gonna get real is a horror movie nowadays bryant like sometimes when you see a horror movie and it is tamed or declawed. You're like now. This is not a horror movie. I want to see like whatever your horror movie. Kink may be right. But i think the the reason that horror movies and blunt houses sort of tapping into a cultural phenomenon. Is that these. These are the popular comedies. That the that were of the eighties kind of thing. If you want to see something edgy and dark. Got or even edgy and entertaining the you can find yourself chuckling at because it's terrible in the eyes of others. The only way that you can do that. Is it a horror movie. Yeah rance over awesome. It was good good one all right well. Jurassic world dominion reunites. Laura dern jeff goldblum and sam neill in the some new cinema con footage universal pictures unlocked cage. "Td is great at creating memorable moments and then weaving those moments together. No none of the movie fails bills boring than the movie. Feels like uninteresting. In any way. But i watched so many fucking movies you know every week. I'm watching movies. And i can't remember shit that happens. I single thing that happens in so many movies because the moments don't feel special and takeaway. Td is so creative creating moments and this film is full of them and they're small right. they're small. They're just the bonding things there. These little like the little moments were fucking like fucking. Ricky is listening to his walkman as these days as sam neill as laying there with his laker. He's like you wanna listen. It was like this is like yes. That's exactly what i would say. That's how it could would act. He's known world. That's exactly right. I know this is an extreme version of reality that he's capturing but it feels it feels like real life you know and i feel like so many times In movies real life is such a difficult thing to portray eaten and it's a balance of sadness in comedy that i feel like takeaway. Td captures effortlessly in this. Bill agreed he found. It's funny. He found julian denison on a commercial that he worked with him and that was how they met and then he went on to do a. I do remember deadpool two. Yes yes yes yeah. I think that that film isn't that greatly So i don't think julian shined as much as he did in film but it was part of that film. Yeah though it'd be fair to go do that thing you did hunt for the wilder people a thousand percent. I wish i had seen this first. Because that's that's what that movie was doing. Debt kula sam neill in that movie like that's the point of the film Which is wild abuse. But he was in godzilla vs gong to assess. Yes you are always. How was that. I didn't see that film. He was you know. Good movie was whatever in the first place. Yes while i was. I was listening through interview recently with a horror movie. Crea- create a horror movie creek oak. Creator cy i was trying to think if he was a writer creator but he worked in a horror movie and he does special effects and stuff like that and he was talking about movies now and how people complain about movies all the time and like he was just like. I sat in a theater. And i watched king kong vs godzilla. And i had a good time. He was like. But but i understand the faucet movie and i spent a lot of time thinking about what was wrong with movie but i i can't forget all of the kids in the theater screaming at the top of their lungs at how this is the best movie you've ever seen and how awesome this movie is and he was like that same feeling that i felt when i saw my first godzilla. Movie is the same feeling that they're feeling now. So you know it was a bad movie but it had fun moments. I enjoyed a lot of it. And i could see it. Being reason kids love godzilla or something. Like that. And i will tell you that. I teach kids and a half. A dozen kids mentioned that movie when it came out. And how excited. They were about godzilla. Calm like one of the times. They literally made me tell changed the story. I was telling for the chest that day to include king kong. So you're you are one hundred percent right. Hell yeah hell. Yeah hell you fully. Yeah now this is is wonderful. It's great are there any moments you wanna talk about. No no no we hit..

"Societal norms. The same way because they're both outcast goya bottom at a different way but the co coming to the same conclusion. Like fuck these guys. let's fucking hutchinson. Run the fuck away. Like that's like like i literally see like old guy running in like little young guy like running like it almost feels like an animate thing where it's like us to people are exactly the same but completely different percent. Yeah that's a great way of putting it. I think they're they're obvious. Cultural differences between these two characters. Yeah and the age gap is contributing towards that as well and and yet they are very similar in that they both outcasted societies. And they bond over that. Yeah and the home. Then bonding getting closer. And it's it's so beautiful to watch and he's still Also used her much in Mudge he's komotini. Lee that work curmudgeonly. The commodity lee would be if you're describing the action right. He is komo jing lee jump. It is right. But if i guess if he i don't know what i get what you're saying and everyone was also sometimes the really smart and sometimes i am acutely aware you know alexi and i've been doing every day. Let ask me what. I've been new. I've been doing lexi. And i everyday have been doing across. Word puzzles together. It's been very wow. Yeah and she doesn't know this. I'm gonna call her after this call and we're gonna do across against wow spoilers for your spoilers but as well as for our relationship but b i that dynamic is like what makes this film because he the the kid is just again and again and again talking to him. This wonderful way of trying to relate right. He's like trying to relate to him and it's working. Yeah whereas this kid who's talking about being a gangster and has a dog called to pack and fuck in this old guy is fucking living in the woods. 'cause he can't read and he's victim manslaughter. Yes yeah and also honestly like the kids talking about being gangster this whole time and then he ends up being pretty gangster. He does a fucking boar. That was awesome. Yeah talk about it. I mean so the base. That was very hard part to watch the movie. I feel like these movies you wear. It's about characters bonding. There's always a moment where the bond is tested and they have to grow apart so that they can you know eventually come back together in the end stronger for it So the the boar comes. I don't think the boars necessarily the moment but the bore comes and ended up killing one of the dogs And sam neill gets hurt trying to fight the bore. And then the last second the charging sam neill and ricky baker jumps in front of him with the gun and shoots the bore and save up but not before zag gets fatally zagged. Yes fairly would such as adema man. I can't deal with stein. nobody can. That's how you get them every time hate it hate it there. Is everybody all the dogs real quick. We dust life which is about a dog that kept dying over and over again and then reincarnated. I was like fuck this movie. What why what are you trying to be the status movie that has ever existed. Fuck you yeah. They saw marlene me and said we could do better. What we kill the dog every five minutes this movie. Did you see that film. No fun movie. You said. It was a sequel. Fuck movie to yeah then. There was also that movie where fucking the guy from fucking. Heroes was like a dog with with a dog racing in a car. I don't know what the fuck that was that one. What are some other moments that you enjoy throughout the span. This movie is so full of good moments. I think takeaway..

"Yeah one hundred seventy nine and try not to do it. Sounds like all the time. That's the point right. People don't even try. I think when when you think about writing and you think about like adapting stories and stuff like that you don't. I hate when you see a movie and you're like okay. Bats the person who wrote it just speaking through every single character like all the dialogue is the same. It's just very very bad across the board. They everybody works yeah. Everyone speaks like the writer speaks and that should young case. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own like inflections. Everyone has their own words. That word preferences like it just things like that or hard to capture as a writer later he does that. You're totally right. You're totally right. And i think the reason why. I think it works in. This movie is because mostly everyone else in the movie. Besides sam neill and julian denison is kind of set dressing and julian denison. Sam neill toxic. Sam neill like he's doing brilliant but julian denison is talking tikey. But he's the vessel for him in the film. I think is why it works. I mean yes. His is anachronism anachronism and he is he. He's the vessel. I carriage. Tt's words babu. Yeah okay. no that's that's that's a really good observation. Yes so then you get. You beat the family. I love it. I loved the introduction. I love how warm the on. Please go through getting edible. I mean i don't remember much of the beginning but like it goes by pretty quickly. It's just a lot of heartwarming moments. That go through his birthday. Which was the big thing. Oh my god and we'll be aiming a little song. oh yeah. She made him a birthday song. She made him a birthday. Saw a birthday cake and got him a dog. Yeah well here's the thing i really wanna talk about. This is beginning because auntie right away is a character. That i i love because here comes in this kid who the system doesn't want him system literally chew them up and spit them out and the hurt his child welfare case person the cop in you know everyone else in his life up until now has treated him like shit treated him like they're treating them like a pass like an unwanted filth and he's introduced as such and yet auntie says okay and accepts him and lets him set up his own impression from the beginning and welcomes him in the way. She saying things to him isn't like a pest isn't like a kid that could go to juvie isn't like a kid that is completely ryan in a a real bad egg. She talks to him like some like a child. That's deserving of love frightened that first scene when he is there for the first time and she's talking to him through the door and saying oh. Do you have everything you need. I'm excited for you to be here. I may and then and she left him a little. How hot water thing. Yes like heating warm a heating pad to keep warm and then and then just even going even farther where. He's fallen asleep a couple like a half a mile away from the house and she's like. Oh you didn't get very far china. Run away all right. You keep running away..

"Been shocked by the discovery of a highly infectious disease remark taken control plan has been put in place in the shape of containing the outbreak. I spend half our lives me It means everything to them that sit in my typing the whole bloody valley When they take us farther in it. It's about these two brothers, and they've been a strange for decades. And they have adjoining farms. Sam Neill plays the one of the brothers and Michael Caton plays the other one. And it's It's really told from Sam Neil's point of view and the fact of how much These two men are invested in their sheep and how invested they are in their flocks, and that's what they do that is their life. And when this Like it or plague or disease comes through the area. Which is very specific to sheep, and they have to destroy their flocks. It's heartbreaking, and each of them handled very differently. Now it's being billed as a bit of a comedy. It's not a comedy. It's not heartbreaking, either. There's some lighter moments to it. But it's much more of a drama. It zah realistic view of what people do and sometimes have to face. And At times. It's very, very sad, and it's effectively done Sam Neill's great toe watching. Of course, he's got all the experience of being a farmer anyways, because he if you go to his social media accounts, he's just nothing but him and farm animals. So it shows that relationship a person can have with the animals that the raising It's a sort of Ah, intimate story and it's It's very I would say it's very niche because you have to like this very specific type of story. But it's effectively well done. It's got a good cast. You know, both Neil and Kate and do a great job in their roles, just sort of showing how they deal with things differently. Miranda Richardson plays a local vet and she has a nice interaction with them. So overall, it's a neat movie. That exists in something that I don't understand all that well. But it's still worth checking out for no other reason for watching Sam Neill deal with animals differently than he deals with dinosaurs. So in all that, I'm gonna have to say that this movie kind of rocks it kind of rocks. That's it.

"Can see a black hole. Right? Imagine you see, like a little black dot or a black circle in the sky or something. So a black hole is so heavy that light can't escape it right? And that means that it doesn't reflect any light shined a flashlight on it. No, like comes back right. You shine a spotlight on the shine a laser on the shine anything on it? No life comes back. Even if as the sun next to it well, it won't bounce off. That's right. No light reflects okay and also doesn't make it any less. Right now there's a tiny asterisk we should talk about later, which is called hawking Radiation Turns out black holes do give off a little bit of energy. But you can't really see it. So for the point of us seeing a black hole It's basically invisible. It's just like a black circle. Right. So how could you possibly see that a black hole is there? Well, you know, I watched that movie interstellar, which I know could be a whole topic of conversation. But that was your research for the hard deck that and I read the Wikipedia page for the black hole movie, which is a classic seventies movie. Did you ever watch the movie? Yes, it did. In fact, I saw that movie a few weeks ago with my kids. No way. Really. I think it was supposed to be like a response to Star Wars. Yeah. On bits, much weirder than Star Wars. According to Wikipedia. It's like the first Disney movie ever to get a PG rating. My kids were like, Why did that show us this movie? Was this supposed to be good? Or is this educational but this, But that really was a huge part of my childhood. You know, it was like, made a huge impression on me. You saw the black hole movie as a kid. You didn't see this again. You might have been the only one. I don't think it was very popular issues in Panama. What are you talking about? Huge. Panama. I rest my case. Yeah. Let's hope this podcast is huge in Panama. Let's hope way we achieved that level. My fellow Panamanians. Have there listening. So how could you actually see a black hole? Let's shift out of the fictional world and back into the what we imagined to be the real world. How could see black hole will its biggest defining feature is its gravity. I don't know. It has very powerful gravity, and you can see the effect of gravity on nearby stuff. So, for example, one of the biggest black holes it's near us is at the very center of the Milky Way. There's an enormous black hole there. It's huge. It's called supermassive. And that's the category black hole and we can see that it's there because we see stars orbiting it. So we see the path of stars that are going around the black hole so we could tell of these stars orbiting something, but we see nothing there. So you could do the calculations. You could say all of these stars. Orbits are consistent with something really heavy here, like, imagine you were looking at the solar system and you couldn't see the sun. You could guess that there was something really massive there because he looked all of these planets. They were going around and they're all consistent with orbiting one thing that's really heavy, and you can even calculate its mass from the orbits and all that stuff you could deduce. The sun was here without actually seeing it Now, That'd be a pretty silly way to see the sun. But you could definitely tell And we can use that same approach and we have to see the huge black hole in the center of the Milky Way. For example, I see. Maybe that's the problem is that the closest black holes to us is at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. That's the closest really big one. It's like 27,000 light years. I think it's pretty far away. There are closer black holes to us than the one of the center of the Milky Way, but they're not as large. I see. But there's a theory about what they sort of looked like and which is like a black ball, right? Yeah, And there's other stuff near the black hole. Right, like say, for example, you have a black hole and its nearest star. What you gonna do? It's gonna shred the star. It's gonna suck all the stuff I'm out of the star into the black hole. And you can see that Also before stuff falls into the black hole. You can see it like on the way, you know s O. For example. Imagine there's like, you know. Ah, hold on the sidewalk and I were just falling into it. You notice the trail of people on the sidewalk and then nothing on the other side of the agreement must deduce. Oh my gosh. Exactly. So there's lots of black holes where you can see the stuff falling into it because it sometimes it's like orbit once or twice before it falls in this thing called the accretion disc, which is like this stuff orbiting the black hole before it comes in. And so a lot of times you can see that around the black hole. They sort of like a warning. Like, you know, abandon hope all ye who flying near here because you are entering the black hole. Yeah, but that also brings up another really interesting point, which is like Black hole is not the whole, you know, It's a clever name, and it sounds awesome. And it connects to this sort of geometric idea of like having a hole in the bottom of the rubber sheet, But I think most people think of a black hole is like a hole in space. Like something you could fall into right. But as you said earlier, that black holes something that's really dense. It's really heavy. It's really thick. You can't fall into it. It's more like a black mass or like a black Iraq. You know, it's like saying Can you fall into the earth? Right? Like you can't fall into the earth. You fell onto the earth. Right? Well, you're sort of assuming you know what's inside a black hole, right? Well, we know it's really dense, right? We know that there's a lot of stuff in there. But in terms of like space, like space is so distorted. It's sort of like a whole, isn't it? It's like the rubber sheet analogy. If it is sort of, Ah, I get three D hole to get the whole in three D space, right? It's a gravitational well that you can't climb out of it. But that doesn't mean that it's like empty inside. You can like once you go in you could like dance All around, is playing a room. Let's think about that This sort of where is the edge of the black hole. And then a lot of people think of the edge of the black hole as something we called the event horizon. Okay, What's the event horizon? Besides being a bad science fiction movie with US? Sam Neill through the event horizon is another movie. I saw E C. You're not up on your bad side is between cinema. Did this. Did this only come out in Panama? No. This was a real movie It had like Laurence Fishburne. I think Sam Neill. It looks like a big deal..

Quick quickey community kinda vibe and i. I rather liked this film. I think it's worth checking out especially with checking out because it's it's actually showing you can go to a cinema. Yes i saw the original filled. I loved it right. And i probably wouldn't say it's blake silently. I can understand. Why some would you know. I'll just say and without inviting you to give it a while. Just say the final say has a reminds one of douglas. Stewart's play fire on the snow about sir. Robert falcon scott's doomed expedition to the antarctic. The titular seen in that reminded me. But it's i love this film. I thought it was marvelous. In every every respected is mean. Nasty frankie unkind which some people might say qualify for the term bleach rather than this is so the brother brother this bad brother righteous brother verses cool brother kind verses painless as it's it's it's really interesting in an australian context because we have. We are so fortunate here to have a radic. Aided ought to have held by certain diseases that devastate livestock in europe and the united states. And while i think at times you side with Keady the brother who want to kill his shape in the original film at the same time. You implied by michael keaton. You be aware of what dangerous had devastated when something like foot and mouth bovine spongiform syphilis. All those different things that can really devastated whole zone. Animals it's really interesting. Can moral conundrum but this this film unlike by suspect the strain film which i won't be saying this is very very funny. I can't imagine this film being. This film was made by takeaway. Td in new zealand with sam neill and some other new zealander are would be lining up for sure. I just can't see with michael. Keaton and miranda richardson it really carrying the tragedy slash humid in the same way. I'm just making that prediction. Well i think we could see it. Definitely changes the timing of it. It's it's not an exact replica. By any means the miranda character she plays vet in this bail even exists in the in the atlantic film. She's a i think. Well i suppose to introduce a kind of a slightly different dynamic forum for colon That samuels saving the sheep guy. Yup yup germy sims. Who has directed this. I think really just wanted to render. It's because as he said to me she's the he thinks he's the most underrated actor in the world and he would put her in anything. And so i think he. He called her up from the public and she said yes great. He called up from the pub and she said yes. I am the most underrated. No she said yes. I'll do it if you want. If you want only to see the the icelandic version but with a streamlined landscape. You'd be disappointed. Don't want to completely remake something. He exactly what. I don't think i think that's a time it's not like gospel san remaking it is not the same thing while you're talking about films just really quickly. Is it a film right. It's not your favourite show though. Feel free to me your full time but one that you find without realizing to actually think about it. You've seen an inordinate like a lot of times more than makes any sense to anybody..

"Beauty. Light ninetieths nineteen, Ninety, eight. But the next one we will jerry something and non in May have been sort of wanting to watch for a long time but woody something from the early nineties. So nineteen, ninety, three and This is Jurassic Park? So Jurassic Park features. Is a Steven Spielberg. So that'll be our second Maybe Steven Spielberg offers yours and It's EH features Sam Neill who's being in hunt for the will to people So we've we've familiar with a few things yet, but also has laura done and gold bloom, and this is another one similar to jaws and assimilate to a lot of Steven Spielberg movies where it's just a massive coach through gap that way when a fill over the plug because I actually I know a little bit about it but nonetheless I think it's mostly to do is sort of. Trying to recreate dinosaurs again and obviously what follows but a pragmatic paleontologist visiting an almost complete theme park is tasked with protecting a couple of kids. Power failure causes the cloned dinosaurs two run loose they kind of skipped over why they coined the dinosaurs but that's basically the description of any movie. Oh What the what? Lewis? Just A. Guinea pigs. Coin. Dinosaur. What. Cloned dinosaurs. Yes. Okay. By the way we can I can't believe we didn't mention. Jeff Goldblum Cameo in yeah yeah. I didn't even recognize. To look him up and make sure it was him because he looks. He looks different hoops jazzy. It's just has like five words in the movie, but they're really funny is calling of as therapists or whatever remind what's my mantra? I wonder if it's a reference or something that's a good question. was. Hilary's I other than the fact that it's kind of a monster adventure movie by Steven. Spielberg. The score is by John Williams as well. Right he did Jaaz I think. A dog who? Well unusually checks those things before saying so I'm looking at it up right now. Yes. So that's another thing. John. Williams. Did the music here and in jaws. Oh that's really cool. Yeah. I'm GonNa Watch this movie. You know like any other movie I'm going to try to just enjoy it for what it is but I'll definitely try to kind of think about similarities between this and jobs because we love the things about jazz like the way that you see the shark and it's still scary as hell on the music that. It's it's more adventurous kind of music more than it is horror and scary and stuff. There's a lot of things that we loved the I'm going to try and save their repeated here because there's like twenty years between the movies dinosaurs have jaws uncle. So I'm going to be watching Jurassic Park with my girlfriend everytime. I have to choose something for the podcast she always whispers in my ear to Jurassic Park to. Like she is so excited about this. So I guess I should be too. Excited he's excited to be excited. I know it's Spielberg summer blockbuster. Thing from early Ninety S, which I love movies from the early nineties. So there's a lot going for it. I bet it's going to be fun. Call stuff whole staff. Cool stuff. So thank you Peter. Right. Thank you..

"What we want to make sure with Sam Neill they will examine to do what it does and so we're gonna make sure that we continue to do exactly what we have been doing and they get the financial vertical that they were hoping for that will make him a better more well rounded more diversified company and then in turn I would see that will make them an odd and me is a year older more attractive to a variety of different people and over time if something happens and you know that old together likely so be it in what areas might there be enough overlap that there could be potential job costs thanks to this murder well the reality even with them or what we have around three hundred plus or minus people the truth of the matter is each year if you look at our history which obviously is private we have about a ten percent turn over a year this is not for everybody it's hard business you've got a you know you've got a role that rock up the hill everyday and people's attitudes and then making changes over time it will be natural turnover and they'll be natural we'll be told he's in court say there's absolutely no doubt about it neither have been model he was a nice double decade accretion number but over time which is the natural thing and obviously people with the best attitude knowledge workers are going to benefit the most and people and other people will give him a good deal with that on a day to day basis that was Jimmy don Sandler o'neill partners managing principal coming up Richard Branson the founder of virgin galactic and social capital co founder and CEO Chamakh Kali.
