"My prediction is that the Patriots are going to be down by four points in the last two and a half minutes of this game. They're going to have the ball. His first cover as an underdog in the last 11 games, but I'm still going to feel terrible about it. So close game. I don't know if the Pats can win or not, but the six and a half is too much. That's one bet. Second one, we're going Colts minus one and a half at home against the Rams. The Rams without their left left tackle who they're saying like, oh, he's got a hamstring. Maybe he'll play now. He's not playing and even if he plays, he's going to be on one leg and you know, the thing with the Rams, they have this top-heavy team. As soon as they start losing guys, all hell breaks loose. I like what I've seen from Indianapolis and I don't even care if the quarterback is my guy Minshew or Richardson comes back. I like the minus one and a half and I like this team and somebody weird in the AFC is good. AFC South is going to go nine and eight. So we're gonna take the Colts minus one and a half. I can't quit the Steelers. I'm sorry. The Steelers are minus three against Houston and look, I like the Houston thing too. It was fun last week to watch them beat Jacksonville, but they got a kick return touchdown from their fullback. And just weird shit happened that game and Jacksonville didn't show up and now we've overreacted and the Steelers team that I thought had a chance to be the one seed potentially is only length three against Houston at home. Like how great is that? Unbelievable. I think their defense can win this game by itself. So we're taking Steelers minus three and then last but not least. The Cleveland Browns who we talked about on Tuesday's podcast. I think this has a chance to be the 2000 Ravens the return and Vegas doesn't totally believe yet. This line was Browns by three over Baltimore who's banged up who has real offensive line injuries. They might have some injured guys playing on the offensive line this week. They're left tackle in their center. They have major wide receiver issues. They have major injuries on the defense. You can throw on them. And the case would be Lamar as an underdog is unbelievable. The Browns coming off a really impressive win. I'm going the other way. I think the Browns are good. I thought it was going to be the Steelers in this division and I think it's going to be the Browns and this is going to be the last time we're going to get them under a field goal at home against an offense that isn't awesome and this Baltimore team the way they are right now. I just I don't think they're ready for the Browns defense the way it's looking these days. Plus you got the Browns Ravens revenge. It's constant revenge. They the Ravens left Cleveland. So I just just a gut feeling this feels like a special game for the Browns. I loved what I saw from Watson last week and we're going to take them. So we're doing 200 K on Browns minus two and a half Pats plus six and a half Colts minus one and a half and Steelers minus three and then just for fun. We're going to put another 200 K and a tease. It is 8 45 p.m. on Wall Street, time to check in with Bloomberg opinion. We're joined by opinion Colin of shuli ren, who's writing about her observations in China late last year as the country announced it would ease COVID zero policies. Shirley, thanks very much for being with us so the title that we have on your opinion piece is China's great leap forward into herd immunity. The sub head is, is it going to work from your personal story? How do you answer that question? I think Brian, because of China's abrupt reopening and the lack of any social distancing rules, China's biggest cities actually not just the biggest big cities have all had to hurt immunity in the sense that I think by now perhaps 80% of the population have already recovered from COVID or are recovering or are being infected. In essence, basically, within actually less than a month after the bigger COVID shift, the Chinese population is put on the same footing as the rest of the world. How do you calculate this though? Because of course, famously, there's now no official numbers on Chinese COVID cases. So you've had to resort to some rather creative methods to find out where we are on that infection curve. Absolutely. So my parents going infected 8 days. They tested positives 8 days after the reopening announcement. And I didn't know where we were on the curb at all, right? Back then, you know, talking about COVID, now people are quite open about it. But back then, talking about COVID or having family members, getting COVID was kind of a social taboo because of a three years COVID zero policy. So what I did was I looked at some online informal surveys done by some people on which hat or China's Twitter or Weibo and asking people whether they have been infected, whether they have recovered or whether they're doing the normal state. And I started to find out that my parents were actually on the first stage of the curve. And after that, the second week after the reopening, I started to see busy streets singing out and all of a sudden the streets were just quiet. And in the subway, you know, a lot of people were coughing at a lot of the visibly unwell. And that was when I realized, oh, you know, the outbreak was really severe. Everybody was sick, even the food delivery service providers, like usually like in China's big cities, you can do very convenient ecommerce and all of a sudden those grocery deliveries stopped coming. And then I realized, okay, that delivery workers were sick as well. And then by the third week, people started to talk very openly. And the third week I made the last week of December, my parents started to chat with their friends, and I started to chat with mine as well. My count had friends, colleagues, and I realized that almost no family in Shanghai was not effective. Pretty much everyone. Even if you go for a quick grocery run, you will get COVID. And then that's when I realized, yeah, that's it. Yeah, that's it. Everybody has been speculating. Why did Xi Jinping make this adjustment? I had a friend who runs a company up in Beijing, say, when it's out, it's out. And the virus got out, and they had no choice. Well, we had a guest on last week, said that it was because of the protests and people saw what was happening at the World Cup and saw people living normal lives and wondered why not us. You talked to a lot of people. What are people thinking? I think I agree with the second speculation that it was because of the protests. My sense is that people are so sick of COVID zero that they rather get sick themselves. I'm being, of course, a lot of my count has in Shanghai my hometown Shanghai and Shanghai went to a two month city wild lockdown, right? People just so sick of it. They just wanted to get over it. And the Chinese are just like the rest of the world. It's been three years and it was just not sustainable. And we saw that the protests were sprouting up everywhere in China. I mean, even the elderly, my parents generation, they didn't want to deal with COVID zero anymore, like no one wanted to scan health codes every time they entered a shopping mall or subway. So it was interestingly enough, like even though you hear stories of the other late dying and then very crowded, more extended stuff like that. The sentiments I got on the ground was that people were not as angry or as in the spring when they were locked down, you know? People were more or less felt like they just felt resigned and said, let's just get over with let's get sick and move on to a better year. Shirley very quickly, 2030 seconds. Is it going to be a normal lunar new year? I think so. I think her China has hit her immunity already. I think people already out partying. I saw annually, you know, young people were already out, big Shanghai. He's just a first round quarterback, or do you want to be a top ten pick? I think he will be a top sure I'll do ten. I just wanted to do something I can remember. His Jersey number is ten. So that's easy. We'll do a top ten pick. All right, so top ten pick in the 2024 draft. So I add today. Are you saying to go trade for 2024 first round picks to? I am. To buy drew may. That was his name correct drew. Drake. Drake, Drake Mae. I am, obviously, if it makes sense. I'm not trading away Josh Allen for a 2024 first to go first. To get Drake may. "And I was surprised a team like Indy didn't make a move and get him to India and other needs, but Matt Ryan's getting up there in age and I think for Washington, he's an exciting backup plan and I really, really like this move Sam Howell to Washington in the 5th round. I mean, that's like a really good value pick and a guy that has potential to become your franchise quarterback down the road if Carson doesn't pan out. There were three more quarterbacks drafted this year. All of them were in the 7th round, they're less exciting. They're all expected to be backups. I'm going to screw up this name. I think I know how to say it. I heard it said like three times and I don't remember if I am in a nail it. But the Steelers drafted Chris alluded or alluded from South Dakota state. He's awesome. I think the best thing about this guy is just a weird tangent is the little I saw, he is so good at making throws as he gets hit, which is an NFL trait to have. He's a backup, but I like him. He can move around. Miami drafted Skylar Thompson, the quarterback got a case state. And mister irrelevant with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the forty-niners drafted quarterback Brock purdy out of Iowa state. There's one more noteworthy quarterback Nevada's quarterback Carson strong signed an undrafted free agent deal with Philadelphia. After the draft ended, I think the reason why cars from strong didn't get drafted was despite the fact he had some good film early on in the year. There's a lot of concerns about his knee. No one's really sure how good he's going to be. But he's a guy I'm very excited to watch in the preseason. He had some really good tape and some really bad tape. And when the knee was good, the tape is good and then he was bad. The tape is bad, but keep your eye on carts and strong in Philadelphia. I wish he'd gone somewhere like Seattle, where he had more of a chance to maybe somebody to get on the field, but he's a noteworthy guy that did not get drafted. And I'm surprised by that. "Right, it's unfair. And this is something that's been brewing for a while, but when Tom Brady says it, it has way more power. It's kind of like informal the one when Lewis Hamilton points something out, Lewis Hamilton, 7 time, literally, they both won 7 titles, right? When you dominate your sport and you point out a flaw, it has way more power and influence. So Tom Brady's dead right and we need to raise the standards a little bit in the NFL where we stop penalizing defenses for offensive mistakes. I guess it makes scoring happen more. It makes a game more cupcake, but is that really good? Is that the game being played as at its highest level? No, it's not. My last kind of thought about this is that as I was watching Tom Brady, he was on some kind of it was like a Buccaneers YouTube show. And by the way, people don't realize that all that stuff is marketing. When the Indianapolis Colts have a YouTube channel and they put out videos, they're marketing to you to make themselves look good. So it's not really real story. Often people read too much into it, and I'm like, well, they're framing it to make them look good. But my point is this. Watching Tom Brady talk about football made me go, I hope this dude will be a broadcaster someday. I hope he does some kind of content, whether it's a podcast, or radio show or host a TV show on ESPN or as broadcasting games every weekend. I don't care. But I really realize watching him talk about that. I'm like, I really want to see Tom Brady talk about football more when his career is over. That's kind of a bucket list thing. I think the world of sports would be better. I would listen to that every single episode. And Tom Brady has got too much knowledge to not knowledge. Remember like the title Lopez? No, it's Tom he does too much. Now I'm getting tired. So what is it? 9 16. Anyway, Tom Brady needs to broadcast or share something about football. When his career comes to an end. All right, last topic of the day, we just had the Netherlands Grand Prix in Formula One. It was a very boring race. I'm going to mention it. I'm not going to do a topic about it. I'm not going to put it on YouTube and race review for the Netherlands Grand Prix because I don't have a lot to say. It was a very very it was one of them are boring races of the year. And I can't pretend this week, I am short on time. I don't have time to flesh it out. It wasn't exciting. Max Verstappen led the entire race other than a couple apps where he took a pit stop before voucher Botox. It's nonsense. Now, there are two stories that stood out. Number one Max Verstappen one, and in doing so, he took the lead in form of the one. And so this was his home race and Formula One very cool to take the lead in the F one title race. And do it in front of your home country, very exciting. Sergio Pérez, the other Red Bull driver finished in 8th place after starting at the back in pit lane. That's also very notable..

"I went to Washington state. I also had I went to school in Tacoma for a while. And I went to multiple Washington practices where in the stands watching, I also watched their spring game. And I remember watching their quarterback competition a couple of years ago. And there was a quarterback named Jake hayner competing with Jacob Eason. J could be someone's a transfer out of Georgia, the local kid who had all the talent in the world that literally looks like Fabio has he's tall, got a huge arm. And he didn't know the playbook very well. And Jake hayner was not as talented, was not bigger, did not have a strong arm, but he knew the playbook by heart. And quite frankly, he was the better quarterback in that competition. Who moved the ball better? Who knew the playbook better? Who was more encouraging to the people around up Jay caner was not, it didn't have as much potential, but was a better quarterback at Washington than Jacob Eason was. And JK was so mad, he got slighted and kind of screwed over out of the job. He was a better quarterback, but he wasn't named the starting quarter by key transferred to Fresno state. And I say all that to tell you that when Washington played Montana the other day, they didn't have a quarterback. They had Dylan Morris, who through three interceptions looked really bad. Like, really bad. And you're like, oh God, Washington has no quarterback. What's ironic, though, is that same day, Jay caner played for Fresno state. He almost beat university of Oregon. Had a couple of fumbles. It sucks, but he looks really really good. And it's so funny to me. And I don't know what justice is here. I don't know that it would have been really smart to make JK and it was starting quarterback instead of JPMorgan, I don't know. Hindsight 2020, I don't know, but it is pretty funny. That Washington lost because they didn't have a quarterback. And the quarterback they didn't love up enough to keep was on another program's football team that day, doing very, very well J caner. And you know what would have saved Washington the embarrassment of losing to Montana? If they had Jake hainer on Saturday. They needed a quarterback. The one they used to have did really well without them. And JK or man, I don't know that he's an NFL quarterback, but he has really good habits. And.

"This is going to be a really tough year for Sam Howell. And it's going to be very, very good for him. It's going to help prepare him for the NFL. Where if you're a top 5 pick, by the way, let's say he goes to the Detroit Lions next year. Or I'm trying to think of who might need a quarterback. Usually if you're a top 5 pick in the NFL Draft, you go to a terrible football team. There's a reason they have a top 5 pick. They have a bad offensive line. They have no receivers, you have no help. And so Sam Howell is going to be dealing with problems this year. He's probably I would assume he's this third year starting at UNC. Probably the worst team has ever had around him, where in high school, I would imagine had a great offensive line, playing games, weaker competition, dominating no problem. This will be the first time where he's going to deal with a bad offensive line, getting hit constantly playing in a messy pocket, having receivers who look, you've got to throw the ball to a great location, because if you don't make a perfect throw every time, they're going to drop it, and they're not very talented. And you got to get the ball out of your hands very quickly. If they give you a completion, take it. Take the check down, take the easy throw, just live to see another. He's going to have to learn how to play quarterback a completely different way. And there was a couple plays where I'm like, hey, Sam, no one's open. Throw to your checkdown. Stop extending a play, stop running around behind line and scream is like, these are less than Sam Howell clearly needs to learn based on the Virginia tech game. And so if Sam Howell wants to even compete let alone move the ball this year, he's going to have to develop some NFL habits immediately, which that's good for him. He might as well learn those lessons now.

"And I started tearing up, and then what happened was he led a touchdown drive. It wasn't one play. It was two plays and three plays. He went four for four on his very first drive as a new Florida state quarterback, replacing Jordan Travis. And they left him in the game. And he led another drive to make the game tying field goal happen. Game goes to overtime, and you're like, dude, is this gonna happen? Is he gonna lead a comeback against Notre-Dame? And unfortunately, it didn't happen, right? Unfortunately, in overtime, Florida states kicker missed a field goal, Notre-Dame's kicker made their field goal. They win the game. But I just, I don't really care. It's a movie, still, it just had a bad ending. Just because it wasn't exactly what we wanted. It didn't make the moment any less special. It did a little bit. I would have loved to see. I can acknowledge that. I wanted to see we all did Mackenzie Milton make a comeback win the game. We didn't get that. But the fact that he even made it interesting was like incredible. And I thought, of all the games I watched this weekend this game Florida state Notre-Dame was the one that stood out to me and I was like, wow. And he had to throw on third and 11 to it was like a 15 yard throw down to the four yard line. McKenzie Milton, I put it on my Instagram stories, a video of him throwing over the middle. Geeks drilled as he's hit. It's a throw up and over a linebacker into a perfectly small window, that's an NFL throw. And I don't know that Mackenzie Milton's an NFL quarterback. But that one throw was like, dude. This is what Florida state needed at all game. They needed a guy to hang in the pocket and deliver the ball rather than whatever Jordan Travis was doing running around. They talked about before they gave him how Jordan Travis had all these problems and was struggling with confidence. And I'm like, why is this guy you're starting quarterback? No offense to the guy, but it was so clearly Mackenzie Milton, who was the better quarterback at Florida state. And I think everyone watching was like, where was this all game? I don't understand. Now, here's the last kind of weird, crazy thought..
