"Will they wanted to hunker down on played hard which is good to see. Afterwards they play detroit mercy who definitely while they are titans a name or definitely not tides in college basketball anymore and struggle. Do pull away from them until the end of the game. Which is a little worrisome. But if they get up to the big game to get a little down smaller games you have to really worry that much too. Good to see that rocket. Watts established himself as the starting point guard because while everyone and michigan state loves foster lawyer he is not the point guard for big moments as shown no disrespect to him but he looks like he's afraid to shoot the ball sometimes and you can't be afraid to shoot the ball when you're playing against another nationally ranked team right coming up for them. They play virginia another nationally ranked team and it's important because transfer student. Joey hauser who joined last year is trying to get him to play. It did not work out. He plays his brother. Sam hauser who plays for virginia both played from our cat two years ago. Both decide to leave both came to marquette highly recruited. They're both stretch force shooting power. Forwards pro probably matched up against each other. They'll be an interesting thing to watch. They play their next game against virginia. Well let's talk michigan basketball. We were going to chat about a game against north carolina state on wednesday but the game has been postponed due to covid nineteen concerns. There's been a schedule switch up you going to host toledo instead at six pm at chrysler center I mean i feel like the schedules just going to switch around like this. And we're just gonna have like well here. We play this week. Yeah that's kind of our team is going to be for most teams regardless of the sport. If they can't get a game together with his most play. They're going to try to find someone closer. Who has the space to play and who can make the travel or a combination travel shuts short notice. Which would it kind of looks like here. Because north carolina state is not closed. Michigan at all and lido is essentially michigan depending on the us. So make sense. Hopefully michigan while still undefeated and we're gonna see how they can bounce back after playing a really really poor game against oakland i. I saw some people online talking about. Why's it michigan stored. Ashley ranked their undefeated mike while they are undefeated oakland who lost savior by fifty one points. Fifty one points in a game of oakland took them a triple overtime which is like not good and again. No disrespect to grad camp. Because he runs a great program out there. They're just not having a good year currently but fifty one points. You should not be triple overtime with that team. Especially with all the high recruits you have. My guess is that they're not going to go up too much in the rankings. Either because the wolverines haven't played the rockets since nineteen eighty three. Though i mean this is this is like i feel like this is like a pickup game..

"The accurate mortgage talk and text line for you to get into the show is four one four seven nine one six twenty talked a lot of football this evening, thus far. And we're getting great responses to our questions about whether or not you believe that penalties should be reviewable in the NFL. And also your thoughts in the New England Patriots. Whether or not you're sick of them or whether or not you can appreciate their greatness over. The course of two decades, you're more than welcome to dive in on those two topics. We're going to shift gears a bit here now though and talk a little college hoops because there is a college basketball team in the state of Wisconsin right now that is inching ever closer to the top ten in the AP top twenty five the latest Associated Press. Top twenty five poll was released earlier this morning about eleven AM central time. And the Marquette golden eagles come in at number twelve in the latest AP top twenty five poll they are sixteen in three on the season. They are five and one in big east play. They've won five consecutive games in conference play since losing their biggest opener. The Saint John's I believe it was on New Year's day was that I big east game. And since then they've been as hot as any team in the country. And this number twelve ranking is as high as Marquette has been ranked since Steve OJ hausky took over as head coach of the Marquette program five seasons ago. So he's really got the program with some positive momentum behind it. And I'm curious what the ceiling is for the Marquette. Golden eagles this season because twelve is really really high. I mean, you look at some of the teams ranked ahead of them in the top twenty five. These are teams that are going to be really difficult to track down because they're blue bloods, their national powerhouse programs, Tennessee. Duke, Virginia, Gonzaga, Michigan. Michigan state Kentucky, Kansas. I mean, those are blue blood traditional top ten programs that are supposed to be there. And you eat down to twelve and there's the Marquette golden eagles right here from Milwaukee, Wisconsin hanging right outside the top ten. And the fascinating part about Marquette this season for me is if you've paid attention to their program, you know, they're leading score is Marcus Howard. And they kind of go is Marcus Howard goes he's the leading score in the big east conference. He scored fifty three points a couple of weeks ago in a road victory over the Creighton Bluejays out in Omaha and he started to get that national publicity that comes along with setting a big east regular season record for scoring points in a game. But over the last week and a half they've found ways to win without Marcus Howard, going off and dropping thirty or forty or fifty points. Look no further than this past Wednesday night. Marquette was in Washington DC in our nation's capital taking on Georgetown road games. If you were going to pick a bugaboo for the Marquette golden eagles up until last Wednesday playing on the road would have been the one that you would pay if they struggle going down to Bloomington Indiana early in the season, they got blown out. They struggle at Saint John's in that big east conference opener. They got blown out. So they go to DC in three minutes into the basketball game last Wednesday night, their leading scorer, Marcus Howard has to leave the game with lower back tightness. He did not play another minute. Sam houser. A Steven's point kid goes off thirty one points at collegiate high in the market. Golden eagles are able to steal a victory on the road in conference. And then you go to this past Saturday excuse me, yesterday's game at home against another really good team in providence. You're leading score is not Marcus Howard. Once again, it Sam Hauser who scores the game high twenty five points. So this ceiling for Marquette might actually be higher than where they are right now. At number twelve even though it seems like they're bumping their head against this yield right now if they can continue to get contributions from players not named Marcus Howard who is in the national player of the year conversation. Sure, they can edged their way into the. The top ten sure they can nudge their way closer to five. I think five may be the ceiling once she gets to that point. You're looking at the duke's in the Virginia's and the Gonzagas in the mission of the world. It's hard just from a national publicity perspective. If you're a school the size of Marquette to bunny, hop those schools with that cash, but if they get contributions from Marcus Howard, continued to get contributions from Sam Houser, Joey Hauser to locates from Stevens point. They could be a really really good basketball team this year, what it might come down to if they want to get to that level is beating Villanova. And if you follow follow college basketball, you know, that Villanova has been a blue blood powerhouse for the last couple of seasons winning two national championships. This is an opportunity in a couple of weeks time the Villanova. Wildcats will come to Milwaukee. I believe the game adviser for him is February the ninth that's a huge opportunity if Marquette wants to catapults itself and its program into the top ten definitively. You've got a chance. To do it by knocking off the defending champion Villanova Wildcats on your home floor Marquette's, not the only team in the states that had a big win over the weekend. The Wisconsin badgers signature win as well. We'll break that down coming up next. And also discuss if their students should have stormed the.

"Kobo eight Jeff Wagner WPN face. A Melissa Mike McCarthy former head coach of the Green Bay Packers isn't going to coach next year. Should we feel bad for him? Give them a little break. Well, yeah. Especially especially since he was fired with a year left on his contract. Which means the Packers. Oh him about six million dollars. So now, let's put it in that perspective. All right. If somebody said to you tell you what Melissa you get you get a year to kind of just be with your family and hang out, do whatever you want to do. And we're going to give you six billion dollars. He probably say where do I sign a happy camper? I'm by the way, Mike McCarthy fan, and I don't quite understand apparently only took one interview and that was with the New York Jets and they went another direction, but it's not the end of the world. He for anybody is it's too bad McCarthy's, not coaching Nick, your he's going to be collecting six million dollars while sitting on a beach somewhere or a commentator on ESPN or whatever. So don't feel too sorry for coach McCarthy he to comments on stories out of the world of sports. You can by the way, follow me on Twitter. It's at Jeff Wagner, six twenty. And one of the things I do is. I'm trying every day. I've been good so far. This is part of my New Year's resolution of sending out a bunch of tweets to kind of highlight some of the things that we're gonna be talking about on the program. But every once in a while, there are just amazing things that occur that inspire me to take to Twitter on on other stuff. And one of those was last night Gruber, you watch basketball at all last night. Did you see the marquess? That game. All right. You say, no, all right. Well, all right. So Marquette has had a very very good year. They're undefeated at home. But they've been struggling on on the road. They went to Indiana in preseason got blown out. They went the start of the big east conference. They went to Saint John's played Saint John's they got blown out. So those were their truth wrote those were there only two true road games. They played a number of neutral court games as well. But they they've lost both of them. So last night, they go to Creighton Creighton is a big east team and Creighton preseason predictions were that Creighton who is very good a few years ago they were predicted to finish like ninth out of the out of the ten teams in the biggie. So it's. All anybody can beat anybody on a given night, but Creighton is not necessarily a big east powerhouse. So anyhow the game was at Creighton. But Marquette has really really struggled on the road. So game was at six o'clock. I was watching the game on television. And I'm doing kind of other stuff and throughout most of the game Marquette was trailing and it might my wife and she came in. She's become a Marquette fan as well. So we're watching the last few minutes and Marquette was making a comeback. They never led the entire game at least until what happened happened, but they were kind of hanging around. So it's it's the end of the game. And by the end of the game. I mean, there's a couple of seconds left in the game. They're behind by five points, and it's one of those where you figure. Okay, this game is over. But I'm not gonna turn it off in in part. Just because I was probably too lazy to get up and grabbed the remote. So one of the Marquette players throws in a layup. So. So it's a three point game. There's one second left on the clock. Creighton has the ball. There's one second left on the clock. Now at this point in time, you pretty much figure this game is over. Well, what happens was one of the most amazing and bizarre finishes that I've seen in a long time. And it's why it's why watching sports catches your attention. Because no matter how many basketball games or baseball games or football games that you go to every once in a while, you see something that you have never seen before in your life. What happens now keep in mind? There's one second left on the clock. All all you have to do is essentially inbound the ball somebody touches it boom that second is going to run off. That's all you have to do. All right. The guy under the Creighton basket is under the basket. He goes to throw a pass. And instead of throwing it to somebody like we're near him. He throws this. He aims at for a Creighton player. That's at center court, which on one hand, you don't think it's necessarily that bad idea. Let's get the ball as far away as we possibly can all somebody has to do is touch it and the game is going to be over. So he's under the and basket he throws the ball. But he throws the ball to high. He throws it over everybody's head. And the ball goes out of bounds at the other end of the court. Nobody has touched it. And so as a result. I mean the way that works is the clock doesn't start running somebody touches it. So he's thrown it out of bounds. All the way at the other end of the court. Nobody's touched it. So no time comes off the clock, and it becomes Marquette's ball under the crate and basket, okay? Huge error, but they're still three points down. No timeouts left and one second left on the clock. Right. So what are the and then in one of this amazing things somehow one of their players Sam Hauser's, very very good player. He somehow gets open. And the Marquette player under the basket. Shucks the ball way outside on the court Houser gets it kind of one motion flows the ball up, and it goes in for a three point shot. It goes in now that you know, the referees have to look at this. There was about a five minute delay. Is there watching this trying to determine whether or not the ball left the guy's hands before that at one second ticked off? And they said it did I think it probably did the bigger complaint was I think would have been maybe. Did he have it for actually more than a second? How long did it take the clock operator to really start the clock? But but regardless ball leaves his hands it goes. And he makes this like thirty five foot miracle shot and the game is tied. Marquette goes on to win it in overtime. I sent out this tweet yesterday. You have to call. This is homers. Okay. Here's the call. From the TV call. Okay. All right..

"Traffic, ninety three. VC? Teams run into this. Indiana gets out to a big start in the ball game up nineteen to four the first TV timeout kind of forget about what? Gotcha. They're starting to hit threes starting take quick shots. They're going down early. Then all of a sudden you go few possessions where you're taking quick contested shops. Let Marquette too slowly creep back into this ball game. Indiana cannot forget about the pain whether it's through post feed or it's through the dribble drive. The last possessions. I think in the end is wasted a few possessions Marquette's gone on a mini run here to creep back in this ball game only up by eleven still a great margin for Indiana. The last thing that Indiana needs or wants is for howser and. In these point guard. And and all these guys from new Marcus how starting to get some confidence and we've seen that a little bit here. The last couple of minutes, the THEO John we'll go to the free throw line to watch. And he fires us went up there, and he messes hurry backup the Justin Smith and Indiana has the basketball rob fantasy drives it across the tribe line pizza right to the BBC Anderson. Weaves it out front gives an off Romeo. Langford holds for moments workshop from a strike kicks on the corner to Justin Smith back out. The he feeds left side of the he tries to bounce it in Davison Davis loose with the ball out of bounds. Mishandled the pass. And so the turnovers Indiana's second of the ball game. Now, Joey Hauser inbound Marcus, our our we'll bring it up our right side of Sam bowser Hauser throws them out to his brother. Joey he goes left side to annum Sakari drills left one. Verbal and battles. Download Sam Hauser who works on ABC. Anderson got him down low back demand. Can't throws up a shot and it rolls in again. What he's got a soft Kaci? He's got his nine point already twenty four to fifteen Indiana's lead evaporates tonight. Here's rob cedar, Romeo, Romeo. Turns around looks for help backs without in between the circles slides to the right looks down. Low tries to feed it and throws it out of bounds. She went for a pass a skip past adjusted Smith that he threw it over say Indian is gonna come back here with a couple of substitution Dwan Morgan now Durham back in the game. And they're going to go back with what looks like a starting lineup. I don't think it's the starting lineup. They started with offensively. They've not look the same the last few minutes. I like the substitution coach Noah Davis is in there. But the rest the other four are starters. Now, here's Joey Hauser off to her brother. Sam throws back the joy for a long three. He missed it badly. In the rebound comes off the algorithm. Breaks it down the floor slows on the left wing takes it. Download Jon Morgan on the baseline. He tries to throw it any dust. Lankford if such a great finisher around the ram and that was terrific pass down low. Here's Howard the other way, and how Durham blocks it out of our. Boy, did he recovered nice recovery from algorithm there. I thought Howard had the the first step and easy finish around the rim at just use his size and block that ball out of bounds. Length and size. So in Jordan college basketball house got a couple of inches on Howard. And he's definitely got the wingspan Chartouni comes in the ballgame Joseph Shartuni transfer from Fordham, he's in for the second time in this ball game and Chartouni will end he looks down. Low finds Hauser puts it up in stores injustice Fowler. So Smith picks up his second personal file can't Sam Houser has been a real thorn Burundi, and he's got his eleven point has a chance. His that's just a simple back screen on the out of bounds underneath Scott to communicate better defensively. Whoever his setting the screen that defenders got to talk either to switch or it's a hedge that time Indiana's guard on the back screen did not communicate and Sam Houser gets an easy layup right on new a three point possibility here that could erase another point off that big data had and he missed it. Go rebound tipped away into the hands of Juwan border twenty-six seventeen by ten minutes left in the first half. Rob double team turns around I Romeo baseline, Dr frozen the quarter to Al out to John boarded for three on Friday. To go on board. And he gets his first tonight from three point land twenty nine to seventeen here is Houser Chartouni Chartouni gives it up to Jamal. Katie's back in the Howard Marcus Howard, holes against spin ac- slides into the right bulls up Rosen outside the Howard her house rather for a three and he knocks again Sam Houser is absolutely on fire here on the first half. He's got fourteen points of the twenty Marquette a scored twenty nine twenty Indiana. Here's rob fantasy masses. Adad low wall was looked like it was touched. I thought by Marquette, but apparently not just throw away by rob bounce pass to the post from the top of the key. I would say more oftentimes or not, and that's not getting completed and that time did not have the angle from rob fantasy. He will learn that as he continues to play under coach Miller time an unforced turnover. Here is charged Tony out to Jamal caney feeds Marcus Howard outcry between the circles slides. To the right throws it back left the house her house. It gets it inside the THEO Johnny puts it up in a Bank shot goes down. The Jonah's got his fourth point. Suddenly were a seven point ball game. After Indiana have led by as many as fifteen in this contest. Now, here's durable that on the left would outside comes to fantasy. Rob hall's onto it gives it up to Jon Morgan turns around against Joel Houser. Then throws it out the fantasy for its retry. He missed it really badly. And the rebound comes off the Hauser down to Florida Chartouni back a house her left side. Three on the way is no good rebound tipped up and knocked away on a west fouls called against Indiana Jamal came. We'll go to Milan Romeo thought he got pushed I think he did to the official missed it. He was in possession to get that defensive rebounds. I think he got a little bit mistimed his jump in Indiana gives up the offense. Rebound got to win the boards on the glass. You've got to win that battle and so far Marquette's better. Tennessee coffer his first Donald a ballgame. Jamal Cain to the free. Throw line has not shot a free throw yet this season. But now he has an industrial. Six. More from Pontiac Michigan at the line. Go Sam Houser out of the game. And that's a good news. Scenario for Indiana. He's been unbelievable. So far for Marquette day will have one more shot coming and this one is no good rebound. Taken out of there by Al Durham breaks, it down the court gets it to the right side slows things up fakes left drives. Right polls back outside trying to get on boarded catches up short Morgan now against the oh, John on the dribble. He drives Greg O baseline. And there's a foul call against the jar. And that'll be his second personal. Wants to guard, especially when he gets the ball in that right hand that was a mismatch out on the perimeter coach Roger housekeeper Marquette with telling everybody the offside comes sinking the lane. Make it hard for him to drive, but John wanted to get the ball to the ram. He's able to draw the foul. Here comes Ed moral back in the ballgame for Marquetia, replace THEO John who's got two fouls. Festers in Ferrara. You Joey Hauser's also in the ballgame for Marquette, rob Fitoussi will trigger the inbound and looks gets it into Jon Morgan down low. He puts up on the left hand. Mortgage. Indiana, thirty one twenty two Marquette, here's Chartouni outside of Joey Hauser, he feeds Jamal came. They download Ed moral. He turns around against John Morton bodies down low and he stepped out about. So Indiana gets it on a turnover and that is the sixth day for Marquette, Indiana has four now we have our second time seven to go here on the central Indiana, fever scoreboard, Indiana, thirty one Marquette twenty two first-half back in a moment. And Al Durham, we'll get that starting role at six four one eighty one a south Cottam lilburn, Georgia. Those are starting for these two basketball teams. Ventures never propaganda. Nine or ten players for Marquette, certainly that many and maybe more for Indiana here the season. So those are the starting lineups. Dash uniform report tonight has Indiana in a home white uniform with crimson trim and Marquette will be in their native uniforms tonight along what their goal Trump used to call the Marquette warriors, I still wish they were. But the political scenarios that take place these days. Obviously changed a lot of things. Now, there are the golden eagles. The university of businesses across the state of Indiana said Tosh uniform people. Marquette's dance to it. All the hoosiers Iraq, just under the top forty five. Marquette is ranked number twenty four and we saw tonight Villanova. There's going to have the problems that they have tonight. Marquette is in the driver's seat to be a major factor as far as race in the big east. Sorry. Establish scores. Coach tapas nail. This place is going to be. That are going to go back and forth. I think I think they're gonna be really special right now, they're battling injuries always crackers in order to find out a little bit about what some of these younger kids are made of here tonight because they're going to get a real tax. Hydros? They're going to find out is capable boring. Much better competition bigger stronger. More physical marks teams basketball is different when you're playing against bigger guys. It's just a different feel offensively. Indiana struggles for the ball last year. Good in the first two. This is the first real fast. This Indian offense consistently get wide open. Great looks at the rim. And then when they get that look at next step up and not down. If that's going to be the difference maker here tonight what's team to make shots from the game gets tight. We officials for tonight's game or Mike Stevens. Mike Roberts Bobrovsky. I've watched basketball television here. He's got farming experience. Facial. He's gone out of Indiana games. Over the years. We've seen our fair share. But that's a big time ball game here tonight on this is this place is walking. I almost wish ever game of like this. Really, no environment. Who's a couple of environments in college basketball? That's like this. When the when the hall is back tonight is a is a really nice promises really live atmospheric. You know, that's my pet. Peeve fans. They show up for the big ball games. He tries to finish with that. Right hands on such a soft touch. Really good playing a chance to convert to hear from the free throw line. So Al Durham or is not shot a free throw in the first two games spires. This went up there and out. That's a good start. Now. Really feel good about it. Nineteen o nine on the clock. Just underway here. The first minute Indiana tried to tie the game about Durham second free throw toss. And he does exactly that. Thing to all. Here comes our with the basketball Princeton across against Tennessee gives it up handsome barely that outside the house now. Now back to Howard lost the ball again picked up by rise against our house or puts it up, but he's fouled. Sam Houser guitar. I follow the ball game. Not a lot of bigs in the country can pass the ball dribble. The ball or Super Bowl or store around the rim. Like, he's kind of do everything type of really good pass on that possession. We'll see Romeo can improve his free throw shooting far PS four parts of the game. At a pair of layups and Nari noxious for free throw in Indiana is five for five to start this game from alive. That's what we've been looking for. Just check in and out goes Justin Smith. And Romeo will have one more shot eleven four contest Indiana's on top here early. Sixteen o clock. Lankford is number two. It's on its way. And it is really no good rebound comes off to Joey Hauser who just checked. Also, what does that transfer from Nebraska here is I'm down in lull. Try to lay it up. No good kept away in the hands of having pets. There. He feeds it up to rob benefit. He goes left the door for a long. How Durham very his first three pointer. Fourteen before. Now. How's the right side to Kane left side pass to back out the Joey Hauser, Joey Hauser dribbles into the lane. Before. And how. Places. Sixteen to four. Roaring crowd. Here is how to drive pulls out the free throw line die speed. And he throws a block away by tomorrow. By Durham fantasy left side effects long three. Prey on another. Nineteen. We've got another short time out here. They might this take the stretch and take a fulltime out..

"Joining us on the line. Tony what's going on? My friend, Greg. How are you buddy? I'm doing great. But I think I still owe you money from the last time we played golf. So you either forgot or you just don't care. Either way by still accept back back debt. So pay me anytime. Go ahead. I'm looking forward to this season. I I'm fascinated by this Marquette team, Tony, and I look at the big east and there's only one team that starts the season ranked. And that's Villanova. That leads me to believe that this conference is pretty wide open. I mean, yeah. Obviously Villanova class of the big east and have been for a long time. And you know, I don't I see that change anytime soon with what a coach right got going over there. But you know, there's still some good teams. Obviously, you know, you see a lot of the big east teams in tournament that's going to be any different despite preseason rankings. I think that you know, obviously, my cat's pretty ranked pretty high based on what they have on the roster. But you know, you still have the usual suspects out there. They're going to be pretty good providence. I was going to be pretty good savior. You know, so needle team that's going to be tough. You know, there's always there's just a lot a lot of different lot of different teams out. There is a lot of competition in the big east. It's always tough to win on the road. You mentioned places like Creighton and Butler that's tough tough to win on the road, really anywhere. But especially the big east. Yeah. I don't think we know what kind of homecourt advantage, the Marquette's gonna have yet adviser form. I assume it's going to be outstanding. But never see the game played at that joint yet. So tonight's going to be test number one. And neither have they you know, you have exhibition game, obviously guess Carol now University College anymore, but Caroline university. But you know, that's exhibition exhibition is just that 'exhibition doesn't really count. So tonight. It's gonna be I think a lot of testing out for everyone is going to be a lot lotta let's wait and see what happens and how it goes for the coaching staff. The players, you know, everybody from the guys that are returning who coaching staff they already understand what those kids can do. The game situation in high pressure games. But going to be about a young the young guys coming in and the new guys coming into this by certain means that's gonna have their eye on. I think so what was that light? Tony you came out of high school you stepped onto the floor playing division. One college basketball. There are some young players in the Marquette squad is he talked about when those lights go on for the first time like that. How is it? How complicated is to manage your your nerves and your excitement and you're going into that first opportunity. Yeah. I mean, obviously, the biggest thing is managing the nerves and excitement goes together. Really amps you up and you to kind of you know, we're trying to shoot a nice little soft-term shot. You don't wanna be amped up nerves? You know, an excitement because you're gonna probably shoot a brick, and you know, I expect to see some kind of some nerves going early some jitters from the other guys. But that's why you gotta kind of lean on your who've been there and done that a little bit started komo's down and let them understand. They don't have to make this big splash right away. Just get your get your game off in the flow. And just do what you've been doing in practice. I think that's the big thing is the hardest thing guys understand you don't wanna game. 'cause it's just an extension of what you've been doing in practice, and you don't have to wait anything. Crazy. It's almost like nothing's different here than what we've been doing. But again, the lights are on the arena. His first time out there. We can talk all this. How to stay calm and how not to get nervous all you want to. But it ain't gonna happen. That's why I'm going to give them, you know, ten fifteen minutes to on themselves down this new guys to do that to the Team New guy to college basketball. I'm gonna give them that much time. Because I think that's what they're going to need Sam Hauser's and all conference caliber player. His brother Joey joins the team now is a freshman six nine out of Stevens point where does he fit in in this rotation Tonia or does he fit in right away? How's it going to work out with him? Do you believe, oh, you're Hooper? Talladega. I mean, you talk about a guy has a nice skill set from being able to play outside to being able to play all the way inside. Maybe do a little bit of posting up depending on his match up. So he can. Some of the guys that can are probably gonna be relied to escort a little bit and helping the scoring that you lost him. Rosie. And so it's not gonna be one guy making up what you lost. A couple of guys in the different areas. And you know, these new guys also other thing they have to deal with it's really figuring out their own abilities. You know, at this level, obviously coming out of high school. They're all everything. Now, you know, they're not overly talented as opposed to everybody on the floor anymore. You know that was high school. This is college. Everybody's gonna be tolerated. So that's another just got those young guys have to make how long did it take you to adjust to that the D one level versus high school hoops? Yeah. You know, the thing is like you come in your okay now. I'm in this big time college guys, it'd be good. And you know, quickly I figured out, you know, I can play with these guys. And you know, you start to feel more comfortable. Hey, I do belong here can be effective. I can I can do what I need to do out there. I can score descend. I can you know rebound quick enough to to handle this level of play. And I think the m- the quicker to guys understand that. And see that they don't have to force things. I think the Quakers are gonna become accustomed plane, and then be able to just settle in really started being a factor on his team. You got big shoes to fill here. Tony you're taking over for Jim mcilvaine alongside Homer for the broadcast on ninety four or five ESPN FM. Awesome opportunity man, really excited for you. But I'll fired up are you to get things rolling and be calling games. Like this man offers. I got huge shoes. I I'm and I'm never gonna fill those shoes. Literally. Literally shoes I cannot feel those. So you know, it's awesome to be back with Marquette. I mean, I can't even explain you. How good it feels. Have you back home so to speak come with Marquette and try to watch him while I was doing the box broadcasts for years, but you know? There's a lot of times they play on the opposite nights. It was just a struggle to keep up with them. But you know, this is going to be great. I'm going to be traveling on the road with them all the games. And you know, obviously with a legend like Homer, he's gonna carry me. Obviously, I'm just arrived along for the ride. I'm just enjoying watching the game. And and just feel like I'm just chatting with a buddy. So it's good. I mean or was there Homer got there to Marquette my senior year? So he's been around a little bit. I think you've seen a few games was cool stuff. Looking forward to the game broadcast tonight. Check it out game broadcast begins at seven o'clock. Tony and Homer. We'll be on the call at eight o'clock is Marquette opens up the season against university of Maryland Baltimore County. Awesome stuff. Tony. Appreciate it. Man. Enjoy game number one of many. And we'll definitely talk again down the road. Great. Thanks for having me on. I'll see you around. Bye yet. You bet any time..

"That they become man you don't have those ups and downs that you you'd beal now one interesting thing about the marquette next year is that they have sam hauser who is one of the best allround players market had they eva's brother joey coming in and who's a by two inches taller and possibly a little better than sam the also have thorough bailey's son who's coming back after a mormon mission who when he left in uh a two years ago was kind of our reggie miller type player out in utah he was um six seven and a ball one eighty now he's 6'9 in about two fifteen so he's coming joey hauser's six nine ed morrow is six seven so i think the the depaul game that you saw last saturday while wilmer a taping this um that game you'll you'll you'll void that in the future because you'll have the veteran toughness like an ed morrow the wall what a paul team out rebound well you know here's the other thing about if you ever wondering folks about can marquette win a national championship well they did in in you'll see well yeah but that was long time ago back in nineteen 77 and obviously college basketball's changed fifty times over since then but the fact is villanova's won a national championship and uh that's a school that's very similar to marquette many respects from the urban campus to everything else that goes goes with it um you know there's no question about that furthermore john i think that in the next couple of years this fbi probe into these major programmes might has a chance of upending and changing college basketball as we know it today if if they follow through with this now that's a big if um but there were some big programs that have been brought to their knees napoli's to hook which is louisville whom i saw earlier this year arizona whom i've seen many times in the last few years but um you know those are programs the get top players yearinyearout uh you know you wonder about a program how does a program any program i distinct kansas kentucky deluca north carolina blueblood programs folks but how did they get the five star recruits every single here and what we're finding out is that well there are some reasons in they may not all be legal either with the ncaa.

"Really good recruiting class their first year with henry alan sent a top ten player right but then they had a tracy carter is their point guard and then haney cheat him as the point guard that year they were trying to get some graduate point guard transfers and they wants to him the louisville and probably because the the i'm campus entertainment option that markelle wasn't as is at present at louisville and or whatever it with the reason was but uh the next year they added andrew rowzee as a transfer and marcus howard in the problem with that was that uh tracy carter than decided i'm not gonna play so he transferred then the same thing happened to dwayne wilson was a point guard twin wilson transfer so what you're seeing now is that marcus howard is a soft war young guard as a freshman and he's a young software uh he was a 17yearold fresh now his new 10yearold sophomore and then you have andrew rowzee as your point guard rows he's very inconsistent he scored thirty eight porter thirty five points in twenty eight points in the two wins over georgetown buddy scored zero against butler in that game that they lost uh after a nova so it's it's very inconsistent with the guards i think that's going to change uh they're the youngest team in the big east which on one hand it's hard to believe since censuses is war joe's fourth year but next year when sam hauser and marcus howard become juniors they have a transfer the junior transfer from nebraska named ad morrogh who dennis crosby was at a um practice about three weeks ago and said arab ed mara was the best player on the floor which is good to hear he's a power forward kind of a nigel hayes type player so he'll be a next year a man held will be.
