"And welcome back and really great to say hello to Brad Crawford from 24/7 as he looks ahead way too early order of finish and a preview of the upcoming college football season. It's never too early. It was spring practice opening around various camps. Some will come as the month of March unfolds. Brad, great to have you back with us. Thanks so much. Always good to have you on and I know some of this is pretty obvious. But tell us what you've dug up here as you are doing what all fans want to do and let's look ahead to the upcoming season. Yeah, thanks for having me, Paul. It's hard to believe Georgia won its second straight title only a few weeks ago and here we are talking about spring practice, but 2023 season has unofficially begun. I'm looking forward as an SEC media member to just see several of these cornerback competitions. We have the obvious one at Alabama between Jalen Miller. Ty Simpson with Notre-Dame OC Tommy Reese coming in there. We have an interesting situation at old miss with Jackson the incumbent for lane kiffin and now he's being pressed by Oklahoma state transfer Spencer Sanders, who's a four year starter in the big 12, by the way. And there are several others too. So I'm looking forward to seeing if any of these quarterback situations get solved over the next few months. Yeah, you mentioned the one at all mess and that's a good one just to dig into because everyone loves what lane kiffin has in that quarterback room and there's another one that dropped by as well. How do you think that will play out? Yeah, it seems like the writing is on the wall for Jackson dart to sort of lose his job this spring if he doesn't have a good 15 practice and then play well in the spring game there it'll miss. Obviously Spencer Sanders has a ton of numbers he's a guy with I think 85 or more touchdown passes out Oklahoma state ran a similar offense under Mike Gundy for the cowboys in the big 12 and he's the guy who is a plug and play and in the transfer portal call, especially at quarterback, you have to get someone who get there in early and early during the spring can instantly come into your quarterback room and give you QB one reps. And I don't think there's any kind of offense issues that spinster sand is going to have to learn. He's a guy who lane kiff and hand pick also have walker Howard there. So the O miss quarterback room for the next couple of years, especially 2023, is set in stone and if I'm Jackson dort, facing some pressure here going into spring practice. Another quarterback room that is interesting because it seems like it's been forever since there has been a debate. I guess the last time was literally when Alabama had Jalen hurts and to a tongue of our love, but what do you make out of the Alabama situation where they need to pick the right quarterback? That's the biggest key, taking the right quarterback. Tommy Reese is ultimately going to have that decision alongside Nick Saban. Things Jalen Miller and Paul showed us several times last fall that he's a dual threat guy. Maybe he's not as polished as a passer as bam was offensive staff would like to see right now, but he's going to get a chance. I think Melrose is going to enter Alabama spring practice as QB one and Tuscaloosa, ty Simpson based on the sources outspoken to there. He's a guy who obviously has a howitzer for an arm. And he's a former 5 star guy that Nick Saban knew would be an eventual store in Alabama. And I think it was very interesting is Saban was obviously confident in his quarterback room because he did not tap the transfer portal to get a Sam Hartman or someone like that, spends for Sanders. Those guys went elsewhere. So I think Sabin likes the two guys that he's going to sort of unleash during the spring and if I'm a betting odds maker right now, I go Jalen muro but ty Simpson is not far behind. Brad Crawford with us from 24/7. Brad, a lot of our guests at this point, a lot of people have varying opinions. Have surprised me because I mean, I can't remember the last time, even when LSU had Joe burrow that someone dared go against Alabama, but you seem to be holding holding firm right now in terms of picking the SEC west. Give us your reasoning why Alabama over LSU. Yeah, I think both of those teams right now have comparable rosters, but I'm just not sure LSU with pressure this time around is going to be able to put together an encore performance that's better than last year sending for finish. Jayden Daniels back in the back, they have Garrett nuss Meyer. He's a guy who might even press Jaden for some quarterback one honors. Now you have Harold Perkins, former financial linebacker who is my FrontRunner for STT preseason player of the year. However, you still have to go through Alabama to win the west. We've seen Nick Saban lose the SEC west before, come back the next season with a vengeance. I think a lot of us myself included were maybe too high on Alabama last season. I know we spoke at SEC media days last July and everybody assumed bamboo was going to be 15 and the greatest team on paper that we've seen in a decade plus and that just didn't happen. So I think you're going to see a motivated bunch in Tuscaloosa and as we see in the past as a dangerous scenario when Nick Saban has actual bullets and board material that he can feed into that crimson tide. Yeah, and Brad, most of that hype was coming from there because people close to that program said flat out. This might be, of course, we hear that a lot this might be Nick Saban's best team. And there was no reason not to buy into it. And I think when the draft comes around in 8 weeks, we'll start to look back and when there's an Alabama player taking one and maybe three will go what happened. But let me move on to Georgia. I think it's a foregone conclusion. They're the favorite to win the SEC, but the Bobo hire has drawn a lot of ire from some of our callers and our guests. How did you view it and do you think it's enough to keep Georgia from winning a third national championship? Yes, to me, it looks like Kirby smart sold has come. It may be a year and a half ago when Todd munk and his former OC first owned flirting with some of those open NFL positions, I think that's when he brought on Mike Bobo from auburn to be an analyst in Athens. And he just sort of shoehorned him in, like you said, to that OC role. I think Toyota is going to be fine based on how easy that schedule is, I was talking to some of the other day and I don't even think George is going to play a top 25 opponent until they go to Knoxville in November. So we're going to see a Georgia team that's really not battle tested to the first 8 to ten weeks of the season outside of maybe the gamecock game early against South Carolina between the hedges, but Jordan the team that right now is obviously no longer flying under the radar with back to back national titles and entering 2023 with the nation's longest winning strength, but the quarterback room right now is a question Carson bank was QB two behind steths and bat last year. I think he's the guy who's going to assume first team reps, but man, if anything goes wrong during spring camp or maybe he's not as good as advertised. As George is probable starting quarterback, then obviously brought Vande Griff another 5 stars. They're loaded there. He's a guy who's probably going to get some reps and get a chance to. I still like Georgia coming out of the SEC as a guaranteed layoff thing. Brad, before

"Case you missed the news, wake forest quarterback Sam Hartman announced he's going to go to Notre-Dame for his final season of eligibility. He is entering his 6th college year, he leads all returning quarterbacks. He has almost 13,000 passing yards and he's thrown for 110 touchdowns. There are, let me see. 7 players in the power 5 teams who have thrown for at least 12,900 yards. And 110 touchdowns. Sam Hartman joins Landry Jones, Graham harrell, Baker Mayfield, Luke Falk, colt McCoy, and Aaron Murray. Not exactly a great NFL list, but certainly great quarterback. And my source this morning, an NFL scout, I said, what kind of grade did you have on Sam Hartman? And he said, without working him out or going to the combine and the IQ stuff, he was going to be a late first or a late round pick. Not late first round, late. Entered the draft type pick. And that going to Notre-Dame had to be for just his development of going into the NFL playing in that system. At Notre-Dame, that offensive line skilled position people, that's why he's going to Notre-Dame. Improve his draft stock gas point. I looked up a few things on Sam Hartman, they were looking him as possible draft pick this year, and he was tenth ranked quarterback overall tenth or 12th. He was behind guys like stetson Bennett. Obviously guys like head and hookers. Stepson Ben is going to be 26, yeah, next year. Yeah. And you know, I think he's going to get drafted. The Georgia quarterback, but he doesn't have any real, I don't know if he has any athletic trait where you go, boy, that's going to transfer into the NFL. But he's an unbelievable college quarterback. But I don't know if he's going to be a chase Daniel's kind of guy, a high end backup there, but I think he's going to be 26 years of age. All right. We've talked a lot about this scenarios here. The owners are going to vote today. We thought who better than bringing in Albert breer, the Monday morning quarterback who joins us on the program. Albert, what kind of scenario do you think they're going to settle on today with the playoff structure? Well, first of all, are we so sure that Sam Hartman would make more money as a 6th or 7th round pick than he will Notre-Dame? Well, that's a fair point nowadays.

"It's always bittersweet pain when it comes to this portion of the final college football podcast of the season when we look to identify a best bet. And it's a tough act to follow, knowing that we were able to not only get CLV on Penn State, who went from a three point underdog to closing a short favorite, they get a dominant second half, albeit one where cam rising wasn't able to finish for Utah. So it's a tough encore in this particular spot in one of the more efficient numbers we're going to see. Last year in the national championship, I think the boo bird started to come from the hills when Georgia needed a comeback late in that game before they vanquished the demon that was Alabama. Where do we think the best opportunity is to make a little bit of money in the final college football game of the season? So if you've listened to this podcast because I think it's probably as we talked about it just felt like a good show. And I think that will end up being probably the best college football content anywhere based upon that breakdown that I just kind of heard back in my head. It felt like it flowed pretty well. But throughout the conversation, it was very much we like Georgia, but how do we bet it? When do we bet it? And so those are two key factors, right? Market entry is obviously very important. How to bet it very important. I know we navigated the SCC championship game where we went George in the first half. There is a potential wear down factor here with depth as well. So I think rather than try to rack our brain with the best possible way to bet Georgia. I think we just split one bet, call it a half a position each on Georgia first half -7. The other half position Georgia full game -12 shop around there's some 11 and a half out there right now. I think ultimately the public is going to be and I hate again talking about public, but this is a national championship game and we talked about it a couple of times, Brad mentioned it. Tish used kind of the beloved underdog here. And they keep cashing tickets for people. And so I think that sentiment is going to continue. And so it'll be interesting to see what this does on game day. But I do believe there is a well sophisticated better that is going to be circle in the waters here in coming in on Georgia at some point, which is going to influence some things. So I'm not sure where we go, right? Do we go down to ten no? Do we go up to 14? I don't think so. Could be the more possible of the two movements. I just very difficult to navigate this, right? And so that's why we're doing this on Friday morning. Personally, I'll probably be waiting on the full game here until Monday. That's just kind of how I'm viewing this, but just for the benefit of the listener here. I think we just split it down the middle, one bet, and we just call it Georgia -7 Georgia -12 volts. That's in Bennett, we trust. I know it's going to be a sad sad day. And the pain inside our household when stetson Bennett finally hangs it up. He's been very good to us. I mean, you peeled back the curtain on his abilities and talent long before anybody wanted to believe in the guy in a well decorated career will most likely end Monday night with a second national championship putting him in the Pantheon of Georgia football greats, but my friend, it's been a hell of a season, buddy, from the college football previews that we started during the dog days of summer. I think way back in June to understanding the marathon that it takes to produce content at such a high level and continue to raise the bar. So kudos to you for forcing me to raise my game as much as anything else and hopefully we've been able to pass across a lot of nuggets tidbits and information to our listeners that they know they're not going to get anywhere else. And like we always do around the bet the board home offices will come back next season with an even bigger and better product than we've ever put on the books thus far. Yeah, it's been a long 6 months, but as I alluded to, had fun doing college football this season. Brad was invigorated us both and I think it sounds like he enjoyed it and told me he'll be back next season. So a lot to look forward to for our listeners. And yeah, let's get out of Dodge. I know when we initially said, hey, let's do the national championship as an individual podcast. We were kind of scrambling on what we discussed. And we're like, oh, you know, offensive side of the ball defensive side of the ball. Hitting out 25 minutes and then all of a sudden, Sam Hartman transfers to Notre-Dame, Brad's blood program, the Jim Harbaugh news came down and it just didn't feel like any of it was forced to reach a certain minute milestone, so to speak. But here we are. And it looks like we're going to exceed an hour. Good work for us. We give people plenty of content that they have all weekend to try and comb through. Like we said, no Monday, NFL podcast will obviously circulate this again on social media on Monday as a reminder. So if you have to break it down, listen to one side of the ball early and the other side of the ball late, take full advantage, explore those prop markets, try and exploit every single edge that you have readily available in the final college football game of the season. Thanks again to all of you. Don't want to make any promises either. Don't want to make any promises. But sometime Monday, go to bet the board podcast dot com. Maybe there's a player prop in there for you. Again, no promises. But there's a couple that seem to have some value for us, the market isn't completely open yet, limits aren't as large as we'd like. So we're holding one or two back. We'll bet it. We'll see how much it moves if there's still value, then we'll throw it on the website but the board

"Albert breer, the Monday morning quarterback will join us coming up next hour. We'll talk to him about a couple of things. Not only the playoff scenarios, also the Jim Harbaugh I have no plans to coach in the NFL. Okay, but he did say that could change. Do I think he has plans? Yes. At some point, I do think Jim Harbaugh will return to the NFL. But there's a lot of smoke attached to this, and that's why I'm thinking you meet with David tepper of the Panthers where you can't do an interview because the season is still going on. Why are you taking a meeting with him? And then the story comes out, there's some minor infractions at Michigan. I don't know where these self reported because I didn't even know the NCAA existed anymore. They even wanted to do. Like you could say, hey, we got some minor infractions. Yeah, you guys deal with it. We don't deal with football anymore. Also, here's something to consider next season. The situation with Notre-Dame football, they got a great quarterback. Sam Hartman. Sam Hartford's legend. Yes. So I was curious, I think this is his, this will be a 6th year in college, I think. Like me. I didn't play football in a red shirt. I was wondering, he's transferring from wake forest to Notre-Dame. And I thought he's thrown for almost 13,000 yards, might be the all time leading passer in ACC history. But what's his NFL grade? Like, you would think somebody with those credentials would be a pretty high draft pick. Well, I ask a scout and he said that Hartman would be a late round draft pick. That's his grade right now. But his stock would rise in the interview process very sharp guy, but he wants to play in a pro offense. Wake forest ran a unique offense, which he perfected, but he played under center and offensive line like Notre-Dame's will preparing for the NFL, the decision to go from wake forest to Notre-Dame was based on football development more than anything else in this scout's opinion. But you can get a quarterback, you can get a team, look at USC, they got 22 new players, and there's two different ways now to recruit. There's the legitimate one, where you get somebody coming out of high school, or the poaching, the transfer portal, and I'm finding that if I'm, if I'm a big time program, I just let you develop a player, you know, it's sort of like the Pittsburgh pirates. It's like, that guy's pretty good. Garrett Cole. Man, that guy's pretty good pitcher. And then all of a sudden, you go, oh, Garrett Cole's making $300 million with the Yankees. Yeah, thanks for developing. And we got a farm system of sorts. And that's what's happening now. You just go, who do we want? Who do we want? Running back had a good year at ball state. Maybe we could get what's his name, Cameron Steele. Yeah, Carson Steele.

"Of thought about this week from a John finestein book about coach K, where in 2013, coach K said, you know what? This whole thing about a young team, an old team. It doesn't matter. Your team is your team and it's just one and dones now. He understood with new landscape for us. Nick Saban understands that high school recruiting forms for backbone. It forms your culture, but you have to augment through the portal in the same way that John calipari and coach K and Roy Williams shifted to one and done because that's where the talent was. That's what these college football coaches did deans of the sport Kirby, dabo, Nick Saban, they're going to have to augment it with that. I mean, you look at some of these guys. I don't think it's just the Jordan Addison's in Caleb Williams of the world, Paul. I think it's the Jared versus of the world, who was at Florida state now, and it's playing like a top draft pick who was at Albany last year, and he wanted to go from a program where nobody was watching him to a program where he's on Saturday nights at 8 p.m.. And so you think about someone like a Johnny Cornelius, who's at Rhode Island right now. He's a plug and play offensive lineman who's going to end up playing in the NFL next year. You could add him to LSU right now and all of a sudden they've got one of the best lines in football. I mean, there are so many things that go into it. Think about the alternate history here, Paul. If the less miles era LSU, for instance, had a future review just go buy a quarterback. Whenever you wanted to. And he was ready to play a Devin Leary type, a Sam Hartman type. There was an amazing quote from Dave Claus. I don't know if you saw the other day, re saying well, Sam is going to prepare at wake forest for the NFL Draft next year, but we wouldn't begrudge him if he got a life-changing offer from a huge school to go play last year eligibility there. So that's the state of play right now where you can say I have a whole, I'm going to plug it. There are no such things as down gears anymore. I'd say maybe the top ten or 12 programs there shouldn't be after the first year, any diminished expectations because you can just go out and get these guys. Yeah, I was talking to a parent of somebody that's in the portal today, Kevin and it's insane in there because unless you're at the top of the food chain and you mentioned some of those guys, you're just swimming with a thousand other fish, not really sure where it's going to go. I realize this is where we are in college football, but is there any evidence to indicate that one program we know we know it's hurt Alabama, but do we know if it's helped other than that obviously FC last year, they benefited greatly, but some of that was inside inside an inside straight, so to speak, with Caleb Williams following his coach. I think it's going to be year to year, frankly. And I think that there's, you know, I follow the NFL when I do college, it's my job. And I don't think there's such thing as a super scout in the NFL. It doesn't exist. The guys who we think mail on draft picks every year after a while they don't. A lot of it's luck. And so unless you're going to sit there and watch a bunch of Rhode Island tape and understand exactly who you want who could fit who has the speed, all of that stuff. It's going to be really hard. I also don't think anyone's going to dramatically outspend

"Timeouts left for the defense. Second down or the second down in three from the 43 Christian Turner in the backfield shotgun snap to Hartman throwing complete short once more. It's the tight end Blake White Hart, who reels that in for a first down. One 59 on the clock as the clock continues to run, chains are moved bunch formation to the left first down in ten from the 38 Hartman has time in the pocket looking deep. He throws over the middle into a lot of coverage, but incomplete. There are three wolf pack jerseys surrounding his intended receiver. Dangerous throat towards keyshawn Williams in the middle of that field. And NC state been content to drop 8. They're rushing three up front. They're letting and saying, hey, if Daven van Cory durden and company can get pressure great, if not, we're going to hold all of our marbles until we get down in the red zone where all of a sudden those windows shrink and we can take chances with less risk. Second down in ten, a chance to reset from the 38 of NC stage off the play action Hartman gets it away into a tight window, but incomplete AT Perry, the intended receiver, I thought it was right there. And AT Perry and the drop, two things you will not hear in the same sentence very often. The clock stops now third and ten with a minute and 40 left. For Sam Hartman and wake forest. Small spotted at the 38 of NC state. They bring three once more. Sam Hartman will step up into the pocket avoiding pressure and he'll be brought down across the 35 short of the first down Drake Thomas there to greet him. Fourth down incoming and it's been all 18 Perry when they've needed it the most right now out stacked with their tight end Blake White Hart on the left side of this formation as Blake moves now across the right. Fourth down and 6. For Hartman, they're too for three on fourth down today and a timeout called on the field in a huge play with one 11 remaining in this game NC state leading 30 to 21 over wake forest. And really NC state, I'm stunned bailing out wake forest who was scrambling. We had seen Blake whiteheart there tight end, start off stacked with AT Perry on the left side of that formation. Go screaming across and then had his quarterback trying to corral him and get him in the right spot. There was confusion by the tight end about where he was supposed to be and what he was supposed to be doing. I get if you're NC state, you want to be right, but I think you had a really good chance of letting wake forest just be wrong, get themselves down so late in the play clock that they

"The defensive end. And you're seeing wake forests start to play the timeout game early here. With three 40 with three 54 left, they now know they're going to need a couple of scores with the range that NC states in with the fact that they've got one of the best kickers in college football, the national leader in field goal percentage. Doing the math, they're assuming they're going to get three here, which means this is going to go back to being a two score game. And so you've got to try and preserve some clock. Not only to go down there and let Sam Hartman in your offense have time to try and get points on the board then, but to then primarily onside kick it and have to try and steal that next possession to win this game. So not too early to be playing that timeout game. No, not at all considering what you've got ahead of you knowing that this is probably at the very least, events he skateboards a touchdown this becomes even more difficult, but even if you are with a hold them and you get three points on the board, it's 30 to 29. It's a two score game and now all of a sudden time starts to become your worst enemy. On the line for NC state 15 straight wins at home, a win tonight with tie the longest win streak, a Carter Finley stadium of 16 going back to the early 70s teens coached by Lou holtz. Second in goal from the 14 three 55 on the clock from the gun, it is Morris. He will take off and run, but he's not going anywhere multiple demon deacons making the stop, including to Corey Johns and Ryan smend up. And so not going to burn all the time outs

"Fact shoulder throw under pressure and again, these wide receivers all do a good job here at late hands. Some DBs when they're playing you man are taught to look for the wide receiver's hands to go up and that's when they shoot for the ball. These guys keep tight to their body. 31 yard gain, first and ten from the 40 of NC state time in the pocket for Sam Hartman, double clutches throws as he was falling down and incomplete. He was able to find Taylor Moore, but went through his hands out of downtown the dangerous stroll there by Hartman off balance. Great job by CJ Clark getting into space attracting them as he broke the pocket. He stayed in his vision the whole time and actually gave NC state a great chance Cyrus David almost had a shot to get his hands on the ball. I'll see in completion second down in ten from the 40 of the NC state Christian Turner off to the right of Sam Hartman, he will get the handoff and he is immediately brought down Peyton Wilson appear there quickly. Pink Wilson, who is the darling of this team in the 2020 season, led their team and tackles really jumped onto the scene. Been injured the last couple of seasons. Seeing him healthy for so much top to this guy's game. We mentioned he's long and rangy, but he's so fast and smooth when he's going downhill. Maybe adjust his game so he wasn't all out every single snap so he could stay on the field as long as possible. It's third and 11 and the 41 of NC states some action on the defensive side and here comes the blitz Sam Hartman has some protection throws deep down the sideline and overthrows Donovan green here the ten against Raheem battle was there on the defense. We talked about the matchups on the outside tonight to read pitch has been the one getting kicked on. Shaheen battle has held up really well. He's been one on one with green with AT Perry and he stayed in phase with these guys. He's had contact on him without it broaching pass interference. As some more substitution friends he stays defense right now. Fourth and 11 from the 41 NC state, two wide receivers of the top side one to the near Sam Hartman looking toward the sideline four 29 remaining in the third quarter talking to his teammates, including Christian Turner joining him in the backfield. They are going for it. Sam Hartman throws over the middle intercepted the second today. It's Cyrus fagan still on his feet across the 50s, a big return at another big stop for the wolfpack this time in the second half. So I don't have a problem with the gamble on fourth down there necessarily with how you're offense can eat up chunks. The play call just can't be across the middle like that because if you're throwing interception and it's on a deep ball, it's essentially an arm putt and it's a wash for the offense. You throw that interception in the middle of the field and you've got room for a return like that that gets field positioned now at the 50 forensic state on offense. That's a back breaking mistake and one that I think falls just as much on the play caller as the quarterback to say, hey, let's target and put the ball in harm's way in the middle of the field. If you want to throw a go up the sideline and say, hey, we'll put it inside. We'll give our guy a chance and it might get picked. That's fine. If the ball's starting at the 5, not at the 15 hour through your defense. Well, the first in ten at the 50. That was a 30 yard return by

"It's really what you're kind of leaning on in terms of bringing that young defense up to speed throughout the season. We're talking to Bryce Smith. What's the vandenberg hustle or very prestigious campus publication, a lot of well-known celebrities and stars, tutored there. Let's talk a little bit about you for a second, Bryce, what brought you to Vanderbilt and ultimately, what would you like to do in the industry? Yeah, so obviously, like you mentioned Vanderbilt's a great school, I really, when I was looking for schools, wanted to get a good combination of the academics, but also big athletics and obviously being in the SEC Vanderbilt has the best of both Nashville doesn't really get any better than that. I've had a great time there over my four years. And for me, in high school, you know, I was involved with a number of different publications, so I knew that sports journalism was something that I wanted to pursue and Vanderbilt. There's really a lot of great opportunities to do that and like you mentioned over the past couple of years, we've had some really fine and great people come out of our newspaper. So for me, it's really just taking this time to grow and kind of develop within this role last year I got to last drag out to kind of understudy Justin Hershey in the year before that Simon Gibbs. Two guys who have done a really great job in this sports editor role. And then gone on to different places throughout the industry, whether it be ESPN or fox or the athletic, so yeah, I just really want to use this year to kind of grow and figure out how I'm going to make my mark on the industry. In Bryce, I've met both of them and they really are bright young guys that I'm keeping a close watch on them and so are a lot of people from the industry and we will do the same for you. Okay, we're not letting you out of here without some predictions. And in the past, it's been pretty easy. I think this is a more complicated slate because you've indicated there's a case that could be made for a really fast start for Vanderbilt, which is something that they desperately need. So what do you think overall as we look at the schedule here on the screen? Yeah, so I think like you mentioned a chance for a fast start here. And a little bit different than years past when you're just hoping to get, you know, maybe a win part two. My big thing for Vanderbilt in 2022 is maybe trying to get that third or fourth win. On the schedule and for the first time since 2019 making one of those an SEC win, so I think starting out two zero for sure will be vital. And then the Sam Hartman news for wake forest that kind of changes everything and hopefully will give Vanderbilt a chance and that game three you go up to northern Illinois to finish out the non conference portion of the schedule and then last year towards the end of the year like we talked about with Mike Wright, Vanderbilt was able to have a punching chance against some of those teams on the back end of the schedule. So if they're able to get one of Missouri, South Carolina, I'll put in Florida there this year and knock one of those guys off. I think that would be a really successful season for Clark Lee in year two. Bryce, thank you for being here. We will likely see you guys pretty early on in the calendar. So make sure that we can hook up again when we get to campus. And you continue great success following some big footsteps. A pleasure to have you on. Thanks so much, Paul. It was our pleasure. Bryce Smith, joining us from the hustler, the Vanderbilt school of publication. And we are heading to a break, final 30 minutes or straight ahead. "To your phone calls momentarily. Got the ACC announcing which players will be at ACC media days, 9 quarterbacks in that conference, as I said yesterday on the show, I think it is one of the best collections of quarterbacks I've seen at the ACC in the ACC period full stop. Filled your COVID is going to be there for Boston college. Jordan Travis for Florida state, a good statement on where he's at on that team. Malik Cunningham, Tyler Van Dyke is a very good player for Miami. He's going to be there Devin Leary very underrated for NC state. Brennan Armstrong, of course, like the one man 500 yards of offense show for Virginia Sam Hartman, who's thrown like a bazillion touchdowns and started 4000 football games for wake forest, which is a record. He'll be there. And of course, Garrett Schrader for Syracuse is going to be there as well, a guy that's really athletic and fun to watch. So 9 quarterback's going to be there. The big 12. At their media days, the conference commissioner Brett your book, the brand new conference commissioner basically said, we are open for business. As it pertains to expansion. So taking all phone calls, if you've got a football team and you want to see if the big 12s interested, give the big 12 a call, give old Brett your mark a call and see if they're interested in see if they're interested in your product. Joining here. But 8 5 5 two four two. 7 two 8 5. Again, the playoff is lost in all this expansion conversation. Like we're still trying to compete for a championship here. And Alabama looks like the best football team. Georgia looks like the second best team with the best schedule setting up to be 12 and O in Atlanta. I think Ohio State's clearly the best team in the Big Ten. They get Michigan at home at the end of the year. And I have the best offense in America. I think those three are in. Barring some major upsets, which is obviously why we watch. But I think those three are in. The problem is figuring out the fourth team. It's the most difficult prediction I can remember since the playoff became a thing in 2014. I've only got a handful of teams that I would argue belong in that conversation. But you can make the case for a few different. Somebody made the case for Penn State. I'm not buying that. Somebody made the case for Clemson. I'm on board with that. I think Clemson has a very good chance. To get into the playoff. But they're going to have to be perfect in conference because they have to go to Notre-Dame in non conference. 855-242-7285 convinced me of who belongs in the playoff with the big three, Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State. Is this butler from Atlanta? Butler, welcome to the welcome to the Paul fine bomb show. How are you? Hey, hunter. How you doing? Hunter, sorry, I apologize. Yeah, no problem. Yeah, so I was just listening to the other radio and you were naming the 15 teams. You can consider taking that four spot. And you said, I heard Mississippi stayed. I heard a and M, or Tennessee, maybe Florida. I mean, I think it's hard to mention those teams. If you're not even going to mention old mess, I realize we just lost Matt corral, but lane kiffin's done and amazing job of turning the program over in these past couple of years. We got Jackson diet to replace him. We stole Zach Evans, the PCU, and I don't know if you've seen almost a schedule this year, but it is rather easy, starts out with four free wins that will help Jackson get acquainted. And then from there, it's just what did Wayne Kevin can really finalize the deal. I mean, I don't really see any big competitors, the final stretch, they go, a and M, Bama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. And obviously bam was going to be going to be a major challenge. But if any of Nick Saban's old assistant coaches can do the job, you know, I think lane kiffin be the one to do it. I appreciate the call, hunter. I think it is a major testament to the job lane kiffin has done. To look at last year's team with a historically epic productive quarterback in Matt corral, ten regular season wins, a record for olmes, to lose so much and to say they're going to be as good. And frankly, to be in a quote unquote, reloading, rebuilding year, whatever you want to call it for all this. And if they go 8 and four, I would call that a huge testament to the job that Lincoln has done. But I am not, I have all missed at like 6 place in the west. So I am not picking oldness to challenge for the playoffs. To be honest, I don't Florida is not in that group either. The only reason I said Tennessee or Kentucky is because they could finish second in the east. Again, I'm not picking any of those teams to go. 11 and one, but Kentucky won ten games last year. So let's not go. They haven't lost as much. They still have their quarterback. I think the west schedules are tougher too. So I don't think it's Arkansas Mississippi state LSU or old miss because they the schedules are too hard. A and M would be the pick. If you're trying to make a case for a second place team in the SEC to make the playoff, it would be Texas a and M but then you're asking Texas a and M not to do Texas a and M things. Which is to be perfect. In every other game, not named Alabama. And I don't know if I'll believe it when I see it. With Texas a and M I think they're ten and two. And I don't think that's good enough to get into the playoff. So I really don't think a third SEC team is in this conversation to be fair. I do think oldness is a really good program with lane kiffin and their schedule is real front loaded. They could go 7 and O and then own 5. It's real tough in November. So I still think I like Mississippi a lot. I think that's going to be a real dangerous football team. But their schedule is nasty. Nasty. 855-242-7285 ray from San Antonio ray, welcome to the show. How are you, sir? Hey brother, how you doing today? Doing well, man. Blessings to I am an Aggie class of 1980 and I'm a really try to not include any bias in this, but a and M to get over the top. It has taken step one by beating Alabama here at home, but they're really going to have to beat Alabama in the way big game. I think to really command the respect that Alabama already commands, I think that can happen. And if it does, I think a and M will supplant Alabama. Obviously, and I think that if they go take care of business, you just said it and I totally agree with you when the games that they need to win and win a big game or two, then I think they can be right there.

In fact, if you take time out of your day to log on to Twitter to tell me that my takes are stupid, I love you for it. Nothing but love and respect. 855-242-7285 Robert in Tuscaloosa Robert, welcome to the Paul finebaum show. How are you, sir? Hey, good afternoon. I don't hate your takes, but I got an issue with a couple of them. I like it. What do you got? I keep hearing. I keep hearing these things about Tennessee was in that game late in the third quarter with Alabama. Arkansas gave Alabama everything they wanted and these are two teams that one have never beaten Saban since he's been in Alabama and I mean, Tennessee hadn't beaten Alabama since iPhones. It's maddening to me that they get so much street Cred or whatever for just being close. Tennessee was never in a position to score the tying touchdown or go ahead, touch down in the whole game. I think it was like 52 to 24, but all I hear from everybody is like, how tough that offense wasn't banned a struggle with them. And I don't get that. I think they get way too much credit. I think because we beat the crap out of everybody, people goss over when Alabama only wins about 12 or 14. Well, technically you only beat Arkansas by 7 last year, right? The only one by 7. I'm with you on Tennessee. You guys destroyed Tennessee in the fourth quarter. I said that yesterday that both Arkansas and Tennessee, which are both on the road this year for Alabama. You could circle and say, all right, those could be tricky games. I am picking Alabama to win every single game they're going to play. I am simply trying to find a way to make the case for someone to challenge them. And if I'm going to do that and go down that path, I would say Arkansas at home, October 1st, all that offensive line talent back, the quarterbacks have stud. They got the crazy atmosphere at razorback stadium. There's a lot to like about that matchup. And again, I'm still picking damn it a win, but if you're trying to find a way, you're like, all right, Arkansas played pretty well in that game last year. Relative to their talent in Alabama's talent. And I would say the same for Tennessee. They played fairly well for their level of talent, a completely rebuilt roster going up against the team that won the SEC under the greatest coach of all time. I thought Tennessee acquitted themselves well in that game, even if the fourth quarter led to four straight touchdowns for Alabama and they dominated. So that's my argument there is just those are two road games this year for Bama against two teams with established quarterbacks, coaches that have built a culture quickly in those places. Good line of scrimmage on the offensive line for both of those teams, which are going to have to have to even be competitive with Alabama. I do not think Tennessee has the dogs on defense. Honestly. I just don't think they do to compete in that situation. Does that make sense, Robert? Yeah, but these teams eventually, they're going to beat Alabama because even your little nerdy cousin beach and ping Pong down the basement every 15 years. Eventually the nerdy cousin gets one on you right. Thank you, Robert. I appreciate the call. Let's see here. Real quickly, hitman and Orlando hitman, what's up? Hey, how are you? Doing well, man. Hey, I have a lot of reverence for your program. And I have a lot of reference for the SEC. But I'm an ACC fan. Specifically waiting for us in that when I hear you talk about your teams like Texas a and M, you know, being on top ten preseason tech. I want to know what your thoughts on the chicken and out of the bowl game last year. To be afraid to play the demon deacons. You think that's what it was. I just want to hear your thoughts on that. Thank you. Thank you, hitman. I appreciate it. We're up against the break here. Here's what I'd say. I believe that was for COVID, right? So I don't know. I remember Florida state Clemson, I think that game was the ACC and everybody claimed that game was a Florida state was scared. I don't think any team, I don't think any team has ever canceled a game because they were scared. Honestly, I don't think any team in the history of college football in any conference has ever canceled a game because they were scared. I think a lot of things have happened. I think wake forest is a very good football team. Sam Hartman is a very good quarterback. Dave cosson is the best coach of the modern era of wake forest football. They have a chance to win a division and get back to the AC championship game. Am I picking them to be Clemson and NC state? Not right now. I like the other two better. "With 30 passing touchdowns and ten rushing touchdowns in a single season. The first to accomplish this feat since Lamar Jackson back in 2016 and he's got a wealth of weapons at his disposal and AT Perry and jacquere Roberson, Christian Beal Smith returned to action with a limited workload last week against BC, but when you look at Pittsburgh, this defense probably doesn't get enough credit for how good they are when it comes to wreaking havoc with their pass rush and being able to sell out and make opposing offense as one dimensional. Yeah, I mean, two great quarterbacks, two good offenses, but I do think to your point, the difference I see at least on paper is defensively. And the other is schedules. Pittsburgh's defense plays if you've watched really aggressive. They can be beaten for an explosive or two over the top, but it's a defense that's on the fringe of being top 25 and overall EPA per play loud. Do a really good job upfront at the appointed point of attack. Pittsburgh's top 15 in line yards and stuff, right? The front 7s created havoc at a 14% rate, which is one of the best rates in the ACC. And we know wake forest loves to kind of hold that mesh point as long as possible the disguise runner pass. If you can be disruptive up front and you can force Sam Hartman's hand earlier than he wants, I think that's goes a long way. But you're looking at a Pittsburgh defense, whether it's against the run pass early downs or on that money down third down. They're substantially better than wake forest defense across the board. And so I think that is one of the glaring things here. When you have two high powered offenses, like we have in this game, which is the unit that can actually force a stop or two. And all signs point to that being Pittsburgh. Sometimes in these games when you have a total, where is located in the 70s? It's like, hey, letting a field goal up is good. That's a positive, right? Getting a turnover is a positive. And that's a great stop. And I just think Pittsburgh is well positioned to be that defense in this game to get the occasional stop. The other thing that I mentioned that stood out to me was schedule. And obviously, right to ACC teams, so there was a bunch of common opponents and you look across the board. Both both teams beat up on duke like everybody has. But there's three other games I think that are worth focusing on and it's both waken Pittsburgh played Syracuse, North Carolina and Clemson. Starting with Syracuse, Pittsburgh was a net positive 13% in success rate in that game, one by three scores. Wake forest on the other hand against Syracuse was a net negative 13% in success rate. Game required over time for wake forest to win. Then you go to the Clemson game. Pittsburgh was a net positive 0.18 EPA per play and one by double digits. Wake forest loses to Clemson by three touchdowns and was a net negative 0.19 EPA per play. Against North Carolina, Pittsburgh built a big lead held on. They were a net positive 13% in success rate. Wake forest lost to North Carolina, right? We were on that game. And they were a net negative 9% in success rate. So three common opponents, three substantially different results in the advanced box scores. It's extremely difficult to overlook that. Now, our projection, I'm looking at it right now. We make Pittsburgh -3.2 with factoring the game being played in Charlotte. So again, to my eyes, number grabbers did a great job laying two on Sunday and getting out ahead of this key number here. Todd, just kind of looking at things. And it wouldn't shock me. If this potentially trended to three and a half. What is interesting about this? And like we talk about home field advantage sometimes a neutral field, I wouldn't be surprised, honestly, pain, if it's more of a home field advantage for Pittsburgh, even this far away from home when you look at the demand for tickets through the Pittsburgh fan base, I mean, some of the videos that have circulated there from poking around. I think all the flights out of Pittsburgh have been sold out on Friday to try and get down there for the game and the one thing about wake forest that can work against them even playing only a stone's throw away from home. It's one of the smallest undergraduate student bodies anywhere in division one football. So it makes it tough to have that prominent alumni based to kind of stack a stadium and create that home field advantage, something that would have had to contend with. Should they have met NC state or Clemson in the state of North Carolina? Makes sense. Yeah. Again, we make the number 3.2. So I could see value on Y two was taken. Yep, no doubt about it and we'll see both of these quarterbacks trying to improve their draft stock. Can you pick it? We know as rapidly climbed up draft boards. Not sure he's going to have enough in the tank to win the Heisman Trophy currently priced at 16 to one at FanDuel sports, but before we get into the final game, which is the Big Ten championship want to encourage all of you to follow paint on Twitter at pain insider. "But when you look at wake pain, they have a dynamic offense led by Sam Hartman Clemson has a dynamic defense that has been outstanding all season long shown a little bit of vulnerability when they took on a team like Pittsburgh, but in their own building with everything to play for. I think this matchup should be worth its weight in gold at noon eastern. This is good on good, right? Hartman versus Clemson's defense. Hartman, I believe 7th in total EPA for quarterbacks Clemson still a top 5 defense in EPA per play allowed and productive drives allowed. It's a fun matchup. Harmon's going off his worst game of the season, though. One of the weirder games you'll see from a quarterback in offensive perspective. Wake only had a 39% success rate against NC state Hartman completed less than 43% of his passes. Wakes ground game, negative EPA per Russia, and somehow they still hung 45 on the best defense they've placed played this season. And I know NC states been dealing with some defensive injuries, but still a good unit. It was just one of the more bizarre games by the box score wake certainly lost. Clemson is a little bit of a different animal. And I know they've also dealt with their fair share of defensive injuries, a couple of guys out. In the front 7, we know they're down offensively, but defensively still elite venables. If you've listened to his presser this week, he knows what he's up against. This is the type of matchup where he's been like, hey, we need to be disciplined down to down, and we just need to execute. And he basically said the same thing that we've been saying about wakes offense in that it's not overly complex. Sure, there's some intricate stuff with their blocking schemes where they'll pull a tackle up the middle and for the most part, it's an RPO system. They hold the mesh point for as long as possible to put your defense in conflict. The vast majority of the place, they are designed to look the same. Wake's just really good executing it. A lot of veteran guys, a lot of smart kids, right? That are executing this offense. Now, the matchup last season, I know it's different. Wakes scored only three non garbage time points. And venables kind of hinted that everything looks the same as it did last year, just the guys are older. They execute better and I quote Hartman's a baller. So let's see what Clemson comes up with here. They haven't created the most havoc with their front 7 like they have in years past. They're not getting their typical push up front, but Clemson's still very good at the line of scrimmage. They still have to win that battle. 17th in line yards. They really still hold up well. Even though their horses are brise, who's out. It's a big loss, obviously, but he's been out for a while. They've adapted the life without them. If you have a good defensive line, you can impact wake's office, right? Because they hold the ball so long, that mesh point, you can get your hands up, tip a bunch of passes, drive that O line back. If Clemson can stop the run with 5, and you get disciplined play out of your linebackers and keep an eye on that Clemson doesn't have the best coverage linebackers. But if you can get those two things, it's going to be tough for weeks offense. It's also worth mentioning here and you kind of hinted at this is the schedule dichotomy. Wake force played one defensive line in the top 40 in line yards. Clemson's played three offenses inside Bill Connolly's top 25 SMP plus. So there is this massive scheduling difference here. And right now, this game probably isn't for me. But we talk all the time about lines painting pictures and telling stories. You have a three loss Clemson team that nobody seems to want. Couldn't cover. It's lowly Connecticut. Wake force has this great story. Even though they lost one game, still tenth in the college football playoff race. Clemson's a four and a half point favorite. And I don't even need to look dot. Casual betters are going to be running over men women and children to get wake as a dog here. But you start to have these market inefficiencies. And I understand Clemson is vastly different than it was last year. Not quite as good defensively, and obviously an abomination on offense. But clumps is a 35 point favorite at weight last year. And now you have a venue flip. Where Clemson's at home and they're just a four point favorite this year. My gut says this line kind of trickles up a little bit. We'll see if the public evens that out. And oddsmakers have to adjust for all the public money on the dog. But just an interesting game where the line certainly tells a lot. I've done power ratings, not nearly as extensively as some folks in the industry or as long. I've made adjustments for quarterback downgrades and cluster injuries, but I'm not sure I've ever made a 39 point adjustment from Trevor Lawrence handing the baton to DJ uncle ale, although to your point, anyone who goes 21 to 44 with a 48% completion rate and a season high 240 yards passing against Yukon, probably not exactly a ringing endorsement. The other thing it appears that Justin Ross is going to have surgery on his foot, Clemson hadn't made any official determinations from what I'd read, but an offense had struggled now loses its top playmaker 46 catches 514 yards out of the mix. But according to davo this week, it does appear that will shipley and Kobe pace will be back in the fold for this one. So just things to keep in mind as you look to try and handicap. I know a lot of our listeners will be forced to make a pick on this game for various office pools and such. If you want you yeah, no, no, no, if you want to go contrarian, I think, to your point, I mean, you may be able to make up some ground on your competition by laying the points of the climate and if you want to think outside the box a bit. Oh, yeah. If you're in contest pools and you're trying to make up ground, sometimes it becomes not necessarily about the game in and of itself. But the way you need to navigate contests, there is some strategy involved other than like hey, let's just pick the winner and being able to make up ground on sides that you would at least lean to. And if you lean to Clemson knowing the entire pool, probably be on. Wake forest, that certainly the better way to navigate things than just grabbing a stale number on another game the rest of the contest is probably going to also have where you're not able to make up ground that way. Yep, no doubt about it, especially as you get into the latter stages of some of those pools out there as we know people like to get skin in the game a variety of ways and it's not just always betting into the dynamic markets available to you at FanDuel sportsbook. All right, to the SEC pain, Arkansas, Alabama, I believe this is the SEC game of the week on CBS, and it's the Alabama crimson tide more than a three touchdown favorite 21 and a half to going number at FanDuel right now. Total in the game, 58 and a half. The last win in this series for Arkansas came way back in 2006, the year before Nick Saban arrived to Tuscaloosa to change the fates of the pride program there. Bam has scored at least 40 points in each of the last 5 meetings versus Arkansas, the last two meetings have been a combined score of 100 points for Alabama to ten for the razorbacks, Arkansas is.

"70 to 56. It's crazy wake forest had a crazy low time of possession. Wake forest how the ball basically for 17 minutes, the entire game. And in 17 minutes, they put up 70 points, 7, zero. That's something like four points a minute. That's unbelievable. And I really, really like wake forest quarterback, Sam Hartman. I don't know if he's an NFL quarterback although I would love to see the Panthers sign and maybe as a free agent depending on if he gets drafted or not. But Sam Hartman's style actually really, really reminds me of Sam darnold. I see a lot of similarities in the way they play. And in this game, Sam Hartman was 23 for 29 with 458 yards passing 5 touchdowns throwing he also ran for a touchdown. Sam Hartman is a baller man. I love watching the guy play. By the wake forest is 7 to wake forest is undefeated 7 games into the year. Currently they are the highest ranking ACC team. And they've got some interesting games ahead. They play at North Carolina. They play NC state on November 20th. Sam Hartman to wake forest go on the road at Clemson. I'm really excited for that game. I'm just really, really curious. Where does wake forest end up by the end of the year? I think they have a shot to I don't know, man. I'm really fascinated. I like the idea of wake forest being good. But right now they are. They're playing very well. And I like what they got going on with the demon deacons. Unranked Wisconsin beat number 25 perdue. Wisconsin won 30 to 13. And I thought this might happen perdue is coming off of a really big emotional win over and number two ranked team, Iowa last week and I talked about my preview for college football week 8..

"The finishing. Stretch of a awake will be a team that i think you can bet on early. And some of these coin flip games because they're so well coached and you may have some value going against them later in the year when they step up and you don't have to sell me on sam hartman i'm in the sam hartman fan club. That's my guy. The leader of the sam hartman. Fan club honesty. So i just kind of give you. I'm looking at it right now. We are at six point. Nine two wins on wake forest so you can get a cheap six probably some value there. Yeah yeah. I mean schedule wise. It's rare that a team arguably plays its most winnable eight games right out of the gates but if wakes not at six to worst case scenario going into their finishing stretch. I don't have a feeling this. November is going to help dave clawson's record at north carolina home against nc state at clemson at boston college. Let's hope that if wake is going to be competitive they can get six wins early on but the schedule sets of in my opinion favorably for a team to build momentum. I think that game against florida state week three is fascinating. I'm curious to see what number we get a as we inch closer to that one in terms of what florida state has done early on. Because we're not going to know what wake is with games against old dominion very convincing. I almost want you to take the reins is that is that being the acc. Best bet win total. I'm i think it minus a dollar sixty may price me out a little bit. I'm curious to see where some of the other shops will open up for. Like i said at six. And a half minus a buck fifteen. It's a no brainer for me minus a dollar sixty. I worry a little bit. Because if there's an injury here their depth wise. I don't think they can steal one of those games over the back portion but i do like the fact when you take on a non conference opponent that you don't see weakened weak out you have a bye week before army anything sam hartman accompany could have some success so i'll bullish on wake going in on. I'm very curious to see what will get out of the demon deacons. If that defense can even be three shades or three clicks below average. i think offensively. It'll be fine as they look to try. And replace a guy like kenneth walker but in christian beal smith should be a suitable replacement as a true bona fide number one. So that's kind of my take as teams that we didn't have full deep dives plan for but it's a side that i'll watch. I still am a little bitter though. Paint wasn't able to cash wake forest money line ticket last year against north carolina when they gave up what five straight touchdown to close out that game or whatever this was the over was good. That's putting a mildly. That's putting it mildly. Just once this season. I want to bet and over under in the mid sixties where they score one hundred points before the middle position of being. Okay for the sake of not making this podcast. Two hours we've broken this team down already kind of gave you a hint in indicator and i'm sure i'm going to get a rash of crap in my mentions because of it because you know miami hurricanes fans don't live in reality and just you know think i am A floor state homer and hate miami. That's not the case. But i kind of indicated at the top. I don't see their win. Total staying at nine and a half. If we're going to talk about miami you know week before the season. Let's go ahead and make the official best bet the miami hurricanes under nine and a half winds minus a dollar forty which is basically everywhere on on planet earth and again our projection is more like eight point four. I know others actually have it a touch lower which is pretty interesting to hear. But let's go the americans under again. If you know for the sake of not repeating ourselves will have every single team. We've discussed time stamp. So if you're someone who didn't listen to the podcast just gravitated towards the best. Bet you can go back up to the miami section. It will be time stamped and give it a listen. If that's what ultimately helps push you over the top on the investment and along with the time.

"They did some things. Well inside the top fifteen havoc which helps some of their epa numbers but the schedules interesting. Because you'd think like hey like evade miami north carolina and not be one of notre dame's five. Acc games in your fine. But it's the out of conference schedule but you kinda just hinted at their the tough start to the season. You're seven and a half point dog out of the gates toll miss right you have. Ucf on the schedule with a much improved coaching staff in an nfl quarterback and then closed the season with another sec team in kentucky clemson's on the schedule and he got tossup games like nc state. Wake forest and efforts you all on the road so again we could get some on her face here right and they just went a slew of one score games in eight or nine but i just i don't see i don't see it for louisville which is surprising because i had a different. I mean. let's not kid ourselves with all of these teams. I mean unless you have a win total going into the year. It's every gamblers. Prerogative in something that we're all need to do. Is fluid especially with college football. Where you don't ever want to overreact to one game sample size but you also don't want to under react because we've seen in college maybe more so than the nfl and professional sports things can snowball and get out of control quickly and if the market doesn't catch up there are times where you see teams that just take on water and if they don't lead to preseason expectations or play up to that or down to it that you can capitalize for three or four weeks if there are some internal issues and issues that continue to fester so louisville be one of those teams that will keep tabs on obviously if they upset ole miss right out of the gates then suddenly we can start to buy back into this program if they lose that game by three touchdowns the writing may be on the wall for head coach in a program. That's not going in the direction. We all anticipated it would rather than get into every other team paint since we've already taken up six and a half hours of relievers time. Hopefully they've broken up. Hey this is what happens in the preseason. Hopefully our listeners have broken this up for all those that have powered through this marathon and listen from start to finish in one. Sitting we applaud. You encourage everybody to go to. Fan duel sportsbook. Use the code. That the border backslash bet the board links are in the bio for this just to click through take advantage of the risk. Three one thousand dollar sign up bonus. It's the best way to build your bankroll before. Football season gets going. Can i go on a little bit of a tangent in. Pay our annual josh. To one of the more underrated coaches in the dave clawson. And what he does more with less and winston salem with the wake forest i think for our listeners. Like we'd been here nine hours if we broke down every team and we just felt like notre dame being in the acc last year and having five acc games on schedule. That was going to be a little bit more beneficial than breaking down syracuse for twelve minutes. And so i mean when. I look at the rest of the. Acc wake forest you have duke syracuse virginia tech. Virginia rather georgia tech. And you know we know. Jeff collins making huge strides. There georgia tech. But what other team do you kind of see relative to market that. that intrigues. you a little bit. i mean. I think georgia tech is interesting. Just because of the talent we've seen flashes up from jeff sims. They'll obviously have to cut down on turnovers. And i think the honeymoon is kind of over for calling so this has to be the year that they make the step forward and i think realistically folks in atlanta Should have is on trying to get to one of the third tier ballgames. Getting a six wins for them to believe that. Hey look we've already rid ourselves of the system. That was the option offense. Apol- johnson collinses broad and athletes. Can we get there. And they do have some playmakers there virginia. In my opinion bronco mendenhall does more with less. I mean it's a team that you know you have to bring your lunch pail to every game. I'm not a huge fan of brennan armstrong but a lot will be put on his plate. And i think defensively virginia has a ton of holes to try and fill. They'll be a team though late in the year. Maybe early on in the season catching a lot of points. That will find a way to slide in. There is a big underdog but wake forest team for me. Pain especially with a quarterback. Look sam hartman's knocking going to be day one. Nfl star you may not even make an nfl roster but he's a guy for a team in that second tier that i think gives them a punchers chance week in week out and we look at wake forest win toll at six and a half you do have to a dollar sixty to go over the biggest issue. That wake is run into and why. I'm reluctant to ever make a case for or against them win. Total wise is depth. It's one of the smallest enrollments for any division. One college football program right along the same lines of the likes of rice. We know that there are some academic standards that aren't quite consistent with some of the other programs out there and when you look at what clawson is done since he's taken over. This team is twenty five. Thirteen in games played in september and october. The problem they run into and you get to november. The schedule gets a little tougher. You get a little bit beat up and they're just six and twelve there. They didn't outstanding job last year. Protecting the football during and over on less than six percent of their offensive series. When you look at sam hartman is the consummate distributor. I think this is an offense. It's going to be fun to watch. Defensively you lose. Nfl caliber talent which is rare for them. Carlos basham and schedule wise. I mean if things were to go the right way. Wake forest opens up with home. Games against old dominion norfolk state and florida state. Let's call the florida state game. What it is a coin. Flip if they're able to win that and maybe go on the road and steal a game in charlottesville. Suddenly you could be talking about wake forest in a best case. Scenario being six with wins against louisville at home at syracuse. Going into a bye week before they go to army at the end of october. This is a team that i wanna take a wait and see approach to but i think they're flying a bit under the radar. I was hoping that i could get a cheap six. And a half minus dollar sixty probably indicative of where they should be given. the finishing. Stretch of a awake will be a team that i think you can bet on early. And some of these coin flip games because they're so well coached and you may have some value going against them later in the year when they step up and you.
