"Welcome back political news takes up so much time so much oxygen but most reporters are working every day on other fronts for example, these historic overwhelming fires in the Western. United States these are of course, one of the most important stories in the world right now the air quality is horrendous. We need to stay focused on these fires. There is news on all fronts these days, and that brings me to CNN chief international correspondent Clarisa Ward She's been on the front lines many stories for the past decade plus and she's out with a brand new book titled on All Fronts, the education of journalist Chris Thank you for coming on with me. Thank you for having. ME. Right. There's a lot I learned in your book including about your early days where I didn't even realize this you worked out Fox News, you describe the ups and downs of working at Fox including sexism and misogyny. So tell us what happened that you hadn't revealed until now. Well I. Never Thought about the fact that there was a lot of pressure at Fox and this doesn't come as any surprise anyone to look a certain way. So I was sent an email by very well intention to anchor while I was in Baghdad covering the US occupation than insurgency that was raging. They're basically telling me that I should try to wear my hair down because that's how Roger likes girls to wear. Their hair down a tree can appreciate Ryan the absurdity of being in Baghdad being in a war zone and getting an email telling you that you should be wearing your hair down. I didn't even have hairdryer needless to say I've heard stories from other. Fox offers a similar about that focus on appearance. You moved around many networks over years pretty much everywhere. But NBC at this point why that kind of hopscotching around. That I always dreamed of working for CNN when I was first starting out, and then it just took me a really long time to get here at up frustrated at ABC News even though I work with some amazing journalists because there just wasn't a huge focus on international stories CBS was a wonderful place to work but there was this kind of dysfunction between sixty minutes and the news division that made it very difficult to be someone who was divided between both sides of the street there, and then CNN came with this incredible offer and opportunity, and I haven't looked back I will not be going anywhere else. So why do you think people? What is it? The people need to know about covering conflict zones like Syria for CNN. Well, what are the most important stories in your book about that? I think that people need to understand a few things first of all I think there's way too much of a taboo still about talking about issues of trauma and covering war and the absolute Lee inevitable toll that takes on an individual. We need to be much more outspoken about that and kind of get rid of this idea that war correspondents needs to be tough as nails. We don't need to be tough as nails we actually need to. Be Extremely, compassionate and extremely open to the trauma, the horror that we're processing. But I look at the next generation of Journalists Brian and I got their work cut out for them because we are kind of slipping into this post truth world than it is becoming increasingly difficult for journalists to kind of navigate the line between journalism and activism, and when do you respond to the attacks on Wendy you ignore the attacks it's it's a really difficult atmosphere. It is and the way through it is to keep telling the truth and and learn from people like you Chris. Award. The book is on fronts a highly recommend it. Thank you. We're coming. Up Next on the program my one on one but netflix co CEO read a sticks. In, other bills that we're.

"Coverage I just a programming note chip Franklin at three forty this afternoon will be talking super Tuesday with Sam Donaldson so stay tuned for that but in studio with me right now is a California state senator Scott Wiener and we were talking about housing and we will be transitioning into you know homeless programs for the homeless and getting them the right kind of assistance and care you want to put your headphones on real quick we do have a call from Steve in San Jose and he's asking so Steve you're curious about the impact of investment companies on housing yes yes yes good morning good morning center you know how they do I have a question and then and then the suggestions to the answer how big of an impact on these companies that come in and gobble up new housing for investments or and or how did Hoagland with the moms for housing where they were fighting against it was taken over that building yeah how big of an impact is that I'm this might be as a thank you for the question I'm here the first part but I think I know what you're asking about and that is the concern that that investment companies are buying up homes in keeping them be done successfully for a long period of time and then it's and then people are homeless living on the street outside an empty house right there and there's also a narrative the some of the new housing that's being built is somehow not being occupied and also it's on the but we know from the data because vacancy rates are tracked very closely the national vacancy rates of homes and apartments is on seven percent in San Francisco it's four percent interesting in LA it's three and a half percent so our vacancy rates in in our special inner cities are quite low and you don't want a vacancy rate of zero or one percent that's that's considered unhealthy because then there's no available housing so three four percent vacancy rate is below average and is considered healthy with that said in San Francisco for example a vacancy rate of four percent means about fourteen thousand vacant homes now of bacon doesn't necessarily mean long term vacant right new homes and new apartments or condos may not be occupied immediately it might take six months or nine months to get it sold or rented or or whatever and then you may have our homes are apartments a turnover and maybe there is you know take a few months to get around to it or maybe it's getting renovated on there so there are many reasons why home will be vacant do you support a vacant seat back and there are there are clearly there is a group there are some investors that will purchase homes and keep them and keep them vacant I don't think it is a rampant problem it does exist and we don't want that to happen and so Vancouver imposed a vacancy tax because they have a much they actually do have a vacancy problem Vancouver there are it's bad mixed results it has not that is not meaningful it is improve the situation but it hasn't dramatically improve that so I'm open to anything that solves that particular very limited problem but it has to be a factor but I think it's very important to understand that we do not have a vacancy problem in the bay area we have a low vacancy rate by national standards building problem we don't have enough homes and I do think there are there are people who don't want to see new development happen who latch onto this I think inaccurate narrative that that no one's occupying the new health bill that is not true well it is also the cost of living in some of that news housing it starts so high that it's out of the reach of a lot of people well and and that there are two things happening when you have a multi million home shortage housing is going to be really expensive and and so let's say you have you know a three and a half million home shortage and you build the first fifty thousand to fill in the hole they're gonna be really expensive you still have a huge shortage and on top of it I think it's important for people to recognize that.
Food Fight: How 2 Trump Proposals Could Bite Into School Lunch
"Two new is now that the trump administration is working on a pair of rule changes to reduce what it calls fraud in a big government program but as in pairs Corey Turner reports hundreds of thousands of kids will lose access to a free lunch at school for change number one the trump administration is targeting the supplemental nutrition assistance program known as snap or food stamps Sonny Perdue the US secretary of agriculture told reporters that states have been too generous with the program some states are taking advantage of loopholes that allow people to receive the snap benefits who would otherwise not qualifying for which they are not entitled by tightening the rules the government estimates more than three million people will lose access to food stamps now what's that got to do with the free school lunch program it depends on who you ask the truth is the real impact of this rule on school lunches is virtually zero that Sam Donaldson policy director of the foundation for government accountability he testified earlier this month before the house oversight committee but at the same hearing Dianne Sullivan told a very different story without snap in addition to having less food at home my sons could lose access to free school meals Sullivan is an advocate with the group witnesses to hunger and has two sons in high school not everyone can agree on at least one fact here food stamps and free school lunch are separate programs but for millions of kids they're connected that's because years ago Congress worried that many low income kids weren't eating at school simply because their parents hadn't filled out the paperwork so lawmakers throughout the paperwork telling school district any child in a family that gets food stamps should automatically get free lunch so what happens to kids when their families lose access to food stamps well the trump administration

NFL: Le'veon Bell plans to join Jets for 4 years, $52.5M
"There's former Steelers running back on bell. We learned late Tuesday night. When the news broke that he's planning to sign with the New York Jets deal is for four years, fifty two and a half million thirty five million guaranteed. According to a source. What's it all mean? ESPN analyst Damien Woody says, it means that bell gambled with his career. And he didn't beat the house. Well, listen, you know, the man held out for years. He lost. He lost a bedroom. There you gotta you gotta understand. He he walked waves mobile fourteen million dollars in the franchise peg last year picking that you know, what I'm going to preserve myself. And I'm gonna I'm gonna come out after the season and get even bigger deal and it comes out, but he got less than what the franchise tag or what the Steelers were often them. So from that aspect, he he lost on this one. I'm with you. And I mean Louis and our just joking. I mean, no one's gonna cry. The man, certainly he he's he's wealthy beyond reason. And yet I just wonder how how does that play? How does a guy who's been excellent one of the very best at his position. How does he process that when he bet big on himself you missed a year in your prime, you left fourteen on the table, and you're getting less than that on an average like how does that manifest itself in guys based on what you've seen through the years? What did you gotta be heard a little bit? Because you know, the way the way it looks like is like maybe his market wasn't as big or maybe that many teams were interested in signing on Bill big deal. So listen kudos to the jets have been able to get on to me the best all purpose back in the National Football League. At the price of the he'll be a tremendous asset for the New York Jets and Sam Donaldson Alford. So Bravo to them. Does it surprise you that that that that there were other teams willing to give it, and we understand that running backs the depreciation, and we understand the wear and tear. That's all understood. But I'm just a little bit surprised that there was not someone else for Belen his agent to work off of in terms of negotiating were you surprised? Actually, I wasn't surprised you gotta look at a few factors one. This is a guy that could possibly, you know, one incident away from know from a long-term suspension. You got that in his background the fact that he sat out a year. So when you and the fact that he plays running back. So when you combine all those factors. I don't think there was a team out. There is willing to blow to halt to pay one in back. That's twenty-seven-year-old. Then it he's a great running back. But I don't know who you know. I think he'd just miscalculated the marketing with people which people will come. Liane bell rushing for five thousand three hundred yards thirty five touchdowns, and he also has three hundred twelve catches for twenty six hundred yards and seven has a receiver over the course of his career. "She and the president call fake news. And that she was trashing Jared Kushner, Ryan's previous Steve Bannon, and Sean Spicer, SIMS writes, that Conway also recounted private conversation. She had with the president and talked about him like a child she had to set straight. We reached out to kill and Conway for reaction or a statement have not. Gotten a response legendary reporter and anchor Sam Donaldson covered the White House. Of course for decades for ABC news. He joins me now Sam every White House has leakers as you know, better than almost anyone. How often is such a prolific leaker in such a high level position? Well, I've not seen anything kill an Conway. I mean, she and the president are symbiotic and their relationship. They look at the mirror. They see each other. They're both narcissists. They both want all the kind of media's spotlight on him. They don't mind trashing. Anyone? She tries to morning Joe. For instance, another example, he tries to people and they both lie. What more do you want? Now in leaker though, you want the straight stuff if you're going to publish it. You don't want wanna pass along something. That's not right. So Kellyanne has to be very careful, and when she covers herself by saying, well, these are alternative facts, not alternative facts or alternative true. Do can't buy that. If President Trump hates leagues as he claims and Kellyanne Conway is a serial leaker. I guess then why she still there? I mean, either he doesn't believe she's a leaker or she has some sort of tacit green light to do it. Even if it includes bashing his son in law. No. But she looks good things for him. Good. Thanks for him. He hates leakers unless they're leaks that he wants, right? I mean presidents are all kind of alike, the others too. They all Ronald Reagan set up to my keystone leaks. But he didn't mind if the leak really serve the purpose of administration. So I think that's okay. Why is she still there? He likes her. And as I say, they have a relationship. That's. Well, Mongoose and Cobra. Who's in Koper just just in terms of where we are with this shutdown and the state of the union you cover. Reagan speaker O'Neill, you covered Clinton speaker Gingrich this relationship between the president and speaker Pelosi it really seems to be kind of in a league of its own. I think it is. I mean, he's used to having his way the president is he's used to ruling over people. He's used to demanding things and getting them. And he's now met big Tommy devasundaram daughter big time. It was the last big city mayor of Baltimore. He had an eighth grade education. But he taught his daughter Nancy and his other children about politics, and she is made of steel, and she's not going to give up and I think at so far she's won this fight. Now. We'll see what the president does I know some of their penalty if someone's been speculated he might just try to reach the congress and without a joint condition of good in there trying to get there. But I don't think he's going to do that. That would be crazy. He's not that foolish. Well, the guards have no what would a guard do when they can't admit people who are not admitted by the house of representatives and the Senate to a joint session and Sarah. This guy comes up with the golden hair. And it says I'm coming in disregard say, oh, no, you're not up calling the law. No, I it's. Situation that like that great riot in the East Room press conference after the elections. This fall, you know, the president created a riot among reporters and reporters joined in. We're human. I think of but it just something couldn't happen. I don't know what he's gonna do. He'll do something. You're right. He he'll try to be the spotlight, but he has the problem of appealing to people other than the base the base doesn't care where he goes. Or what he does or what he said. Yeah. But a lot of people do and that's important to is there. Anyone right now any kind of elder statement like a state statesmanlike, George Mitchell or Jim Baker who can bridge the gap or lease get the two sides seriously talking again, or does that type of figure just really no longer exists in Washington?.

"No, it's just a maybe a little more clever because a lot of us can't see what's in front of us. It's almost like it's almost like that story of the kingdom, though, close it's happening in front of you. And so you don't see it. But hopefully, Mr. Muller does it. Do the Democrats on the committee want to subpoena him? Now, do they think that it's this is important enough and would set a bad precedent for them as you take over the the congress, and you wanna talk to whistleblowers, etc. Is a subpoena in the offing right now. I think it's highly likely, and I personally do support issuing a subpoena to compel the testimony. We gotta remember Mr. Cohen was a voluntary witness that he chose our committee, and that then you to testify he was not at all compelled and his testimony would be in open and under oath. This new threat has given him second thoughts, and there's lawyers second thoughts. And so I think we need to compel testimony while providing him lots of security, but his story needs to be told the public needs to hear the whole story with some carve outs in terms of what's going on with Mr. Muller. But they haven't heard that. So far. And I think I think you're seeing the're coming out of Mr. Trump and his White House because they know how much Mr. Cohen knows. And they know how important his relationship was with the Trump organization. Congressman what can you do to ease? Michael Cohen's concerns about these threats. I is there something that you can say is there something a letter that you can write to anybody. Is there anything that you can actually do as members of this committee who want to compel him to come and tell his story, then I think it's a very reasonable question. But on the other hand, it doesn't lend itself to an easy answer. I mean, we're not on the security business where members of congress trying to do our job and provide oversight. We have a witness who says, I have reason a fear. We witnessed the same thing. You just showed in terms of Mr. Trump and Mr. Giuliani seemingly deliberately instilling that fear and and stoking those FARs of uh. Resentment toward this witness. So we've got to make sure he's got full protection is is physical safety or do. You think his fear is prosecution of his family? It's probably both. My understanding today was his family had real reason for physical theory. Say the toxic social media environment, which we live do do. You know? I mean had you plant. I don't know if you've kind of organize what his testimony was going to be. But do you know what the scope of? It was going to be able to be was he going to be able to talk about things related to Russia things that he discussed with with Muller or the southern district, and we're your staffers going to have a chance to essentially pre interview him. So that when it was actually public testimony, it could be much more focused. Probably yes. To the the ladder the rules of engagement with Mr. Muller had not yet been defined. My understanding is we've made overtures our committee staff to the Muller organization. We have not had definitive response for Mr. Muller, and that's work in progress. But clearly there will be some boundaries, and we will respect them because we don't want to jeopardize the criminal investigation. Congressman appreciate your time. Thank you, very, great pleasure. Thank you for having me. Everyone else is going to stay with us. You'll get a lot more. Discuss Bill conversation about this remarkable day and later, we'll get veteran White House correspondent Sam Donaldson's take a new reporting about Kellyanne Conway and leaks..

But it's on Amazon, and it's the number one bestseller in that category already. But check it out. So. Kosta? Trump says is a grand standard bad for the country. But and you know, he said, I don't know. I don't know if we're going to. To win the lawsuit or knowledge, she's being honest about it. I I don't know either. And I. I don't care. I hope they do. And I love what. The great one, Mark Levin. Who's on before me, of course from five to eight on WBZ AP lebane-. Millennium. I meant. Donny. I'm not claiming to have a good impersonation of the great one. But that is my impersonations for what it's worth. Enjoyed doing that. The liberty amendments. Sorry. Okay. But I heard him say some stuff he's a he's a he's a lawyer and former Reagan administration official, but so he's got some knowledge that I don't have. I'm not a juris doctor. But I am on the radio. Right. I mean that that counts for a lot. But if you things. Number one. What he said some I haven't seen anywhere an executive producer? Chris. I wonder if you've seen this apparently CNN it's called a hard pass. Which is what you have to get in there. Right. Apparently CNN CNN has fifty fifty. Beyond the cost. So I guess they will be fifty one if they put them back on their how can you possibly say that you're stifling the first amendment when this fifty other reporters and producers that can go onto the to the White House briefing from that network? How can you possibly say? You're stifling the freedom of the press. How can you possibly stifle? See you're stifling, the freedom speech when when you look at the picture of a Kosta frozen. You can see the hand. And I won't say it was a karate chop. I won't say that he although battery and or salt, depending on the jurisdiction you live in a state. You're in is any unwanted touching. Okay. Which could be spitting and could be poking, and I will admit that he did commit battery to get very technical on you. But the way he treated that intern with not letting it go and putting his hand up and and. Stopping her was wrong. And he did get disruptive. And it's funny because I saw Sam Donaldson on earlier tonight. And boy, I learned one thing he is old. I didn't hear him talk. But he's old. God bless Sam Donaldson. He's alive. I I don't know anybody who you know, any of these people that we saw growing up whether I like them or not politically, I don't care. God bless them in for being live with those crazy looking eyebrows. Right. Checkmark eyebrows. Upside down check marks or something whatever they are. Think those are the same eyebrows. A lot of women's sport. Now. I don't know what's wrong with these women and these stupid eyebrows. But. And I'm sure he's you know, he's the one who wrote a book called hold on Mr President. And I guess he was pretty aggressive like that. And that's fine. But. I think I think a Kosta was gadfly gadfly ish enough. But I think more than a gadfly. I think he crossed enough of a line that it was fair to say you're done get out of here. I think and again, I would be concerned if he said CNN is no longer allowed to come here. I that would be wrong. And I'm supposed to be upset that all these news, including Fox News. I'm supposed to be all upset Fox News their corporate headquarters and their their head. Folks said Fox News filed an amicus bureau brief as well front of the court brief they said they said, quote, we support CNN we intend to file an amicus brief or meekest depending on how you want to pronounce it with the US district court secret service passes for working White House. Journalists should never be weaponized. There's Fox News for you. You don't have noticed Shep Shepard. Smith who I have some pretty decent respect for still. But I know he's kinda got it out for a lot of Trump stuff. You know, I I noticed people like shop and some of things where they're more a little bit. Say leftist, but you know, anti-trump, I don't care. I respect Fox News. I like them for the most part overall. But I I think they're totally wrong, and they can do whatever they want. And I do understand the next president could be another Barack Hussein Obama. And then in fact, say your band for Fox News News's band, and I would have a big problem with that one. Reporter. I think it's great sport for us all to disagree or agree on and to say, you know, I mean, he did something at the very least he did something that was. He did something that everybody could agree was a little bit more than normally done. He held onto that microphone with that young lady. And that was wrong. So screw it. I have no problem. I think this is great. I think it's great trauma. And I think I think that Trump has a case, I know there's a lot of people, including judge Napolitano from Fox News who thinks that he doesn't have a case. But as the right one said, how was it first amendment? When you have fifty other people at CNN that can go into their that have hard pass. I it's not it's not a freedom of speech. It's not a freedom of the press issue. It is not to me. I love that a Kosta flew to Paris trying to cover Trump. And they've denied I love that so much. I'll never Mr. Kosta goes to Paris. I don't know. I I've been dying to know. Did he file a report anyways? I he had to file a victim reports saying I'm here, but they won't let me in. You know, it just it's a tough day in America for us. And you what I'm sure he did one right executive prest check check. And if he did we gotta play the audio of him wining. It'll be great. I love that AP Bloomberg first look media Gannett a National Press Club. NBC news, New York Times, politico press, freedom defence fund, e w scripts USA today Washington Post, and of course, as I mentioned, Fox News. They're all jumping in on the suit. I I don't care. I still think it's great even if he loses on I'm good with this totally good with this. Yeah. Trump says is it freedom of the press when somebody comes in and starts screaming questions and won't sit down by the way. Who is there? Anyone else? That has been so combative that you can think of. They talk about how Trump a directly looked at a cost and call them fake news during his first press conference. I love that after winning the two thousand sixteen election. I love that you remember he's giving him two years of back and forth. This wasn't. So if you put it in the first week or two that would be scary. You know, unless it was some crazy. I understand. Oh, he got into combative arguments with other members of the administration press secretary, Sarah Sanders. Sean Spicer, Mick Mulvaney. Stephen Miller, so has anybody else gotten into it that much? With that many people like this, and again, you can do that. But when you won't let the Mike Bill, I think, it was awesome. I think it's good. And you could say that he you know, he's airing on the side of caution. That's fine with me too. I don't care. Why we did not want Amazon H Q to to come to Dallas or.
Trump Says More Reporters May Lose White House Credentials
"Jim Acosta situation not fading away. Here's USA radio's Chris Barnes from Washington. Dc President Trump took questions from reporters and one was about CNN's Jim Acosta who had his press credentials revoked by the White House, the president hinting in his response. He might take similar action against other reporters. Meanwhile, CNN may be preparing a lawsuit against the White House per suspending a Costa's pass former ABC White House correspondent Sam Donaldson says CNN has sued the Trump administration and that he's been asked to submitted affidavit, though, the cable network says so far no decision on a lawsuits been made at according to Representative Adam Schiff once in control of the house intelligence committee, Democrats will look at whether or not the president's abused his power by targeting leading press

"You're performing in the best best appearance of reporter. You're doing your job properly. And it's a badge of merit. You know, the White House says this was revoked because he plays his hands on a White House intern. The video shows that it cost did not mistreat the intern. But that's the White House spin about this story. That's the excuse to revolt the credential. Do you think the White House is going to go with other excuses to revoke other credentials, and this is going to become a deepening crisis? We're live better cry because the first amendment of the constitution forbids never Gatien to the press right to freedom. And the president seemed to understand that the amendment doesn't say unless the president doesn't like it. Then of course, he has the right to vote, and what President Trump has done having no law as the amendment forbids to fall back on he's done it through the back door if he refuses to allow reporter to report if he refuses to allow a organization like CNN to select its own reporter, but he can select the reporter, then what is freedom of the press. The president does not understand a lot of things about our constitution. But I expect and I believe the courts will instruct him Sam stay with me. They can I want to open this up to a couple of other guests, but first let me tell the viewers at home that the latest on what's going on. We can show you the video I think from Wednesday night when a cost arrived at the White House when he was told his secret service, parental was being taken away got out. Iphone and recorded it. So that there was a record of what happened that was on Wednesday night. Now here we are Sunday morning, and he remains on the blacklist. Yes, Jim is reporting in Paris. Yes. He's still getting scoops. You don't have to be at the White House physically in order to get scoops about the White House. But Jim remains on the blacklist, which means he's not able to attend official White House events. He's not able to be in a position to ask questions of the Trump administration all of CNN's other reporters and producers they still have access, but it costs has been frozen out. So let me bring this open to to other guests that are here with me. Frank sesno, a former CNN DC bureau chief now, the director of the school of media and public affairs of the George Washington University. And also here with me famed first amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams food, I want to ask you about the legal consequences in a moment. But Frank thoroughly Trump supporters who look at CASA they look at his grandstanding. They say is a show boat. They say he's allowed mouth they say he should have his press pass revoked what are you? What's your response to that? Absolutely. Not. They're absolutely wrong. I mean. Sam donaldson. I was saying was at the White House. He was all those things, and he didn't have is all due respect. He didn't have his press pass revoke and what I would say to Trump supporters, and what I would say to anyone who even for a moment suggests this imagine. Now, it's some years from now, and there's a very liberal president, and the very liberal president doesn't like being berated by the correspondent from Fox News.

"Still isn't over yet every day the passengers alter better for the dams did the press underplay the Blue Wave. We'll talk about that plus a major scandal in the news world, the Houston chronical forced to attract multiple stories from reporter who is believed have been making up sources, whether it be chronicle do about it. We'll talk to the papers top editor, plus my interview with Tucker Carlson's business partner about that. Really disturbing situation that Tucker is home the other night, this antifa protest got out of hand. And police are now investigating. Lots to get to but first President Trump's attempts to distract from various negative stories in the news, not the least of which were the result of the midterms. And the GOP is losses in the house. What did you do the next day? He fired his attorney general, and he kicked Jim Acosta out of the White House. I'm sure you've heard by now that on Wednesday night CNN's chief White House correspondent tried to show up for his eight PM live shot, and he was told he wasn't allowed into the White House property. His secret service hard pass had been revoked it's been suspended. That's the word from the White House suspended until further notice. But look this is not about Jim Acosta. This is about the White House. Trying to control news coverage by blacklisting certain reporters. Ultimately, it's about freedom of the press. The question now is who's credentials could be revoked next. As far as I'm concerned. I haven't made that decision, but it could be others. Also, so look C N N's in the thick of this story and Trump is insulting Kosta insulting Abby Phillips on Friday, insulting analysts April. Ryan this week CNN is on record here saying that Trump's attacks against the media are disturbingly un-american. That's the official word from CNN. But I want to try to approach this as dispassionately as we can after all right now, it's about CNN NBC or the New York Times or other outlets could be next. So I want to ask if there's a legal case here could see an end up suing. Notre get a conscious press pass reinstated. It will the White House take away other press passes, and what's going to happen. Next year. There's a lot to talk about. But let me start with the one the only Sam Donaldson. Of course, you know, see from his days at ABC shouting questions. Sometimes at the White House say I'm thanks for joining me. Glad to be here, ruin your view, first and foremost of what the White House did this week to punish Jim Acosta. Well, the president to order to lift his route book revoke his credentials is not only wrong and unfair. It's dangerous for the press as a whole. We also would happen at the news conference. There's a group of people moving through Mexico toward our border described by people on the scene observers who are neutral has made up of men women and children seeking asylum from persecution and from hardship. Well, the president is characterized him as a caravan composed of many terrorists want to invade the United States. He said thousands of troops to the border with orders to repel them by force if necessary so it costs to ask him why he called it a caravan at the news conference, the president replied, that's my opinion. And accustomed tried to press him on what basis but evidence he used to form that opinion, and instead of entering President Trump lashed out with a vicious personal attack on accuster, and then ordered his press credentials revoked now if that order isn't reverse for the courts what report. What news organization would risk the retaliation of the White House by asking questions or publishing stories that the president doesn't like the courts must reverse that order, and I'm sure they will Sam I know that you've been in touch with Jim over the years. I think he looks up to you in some ways as a model of a White House. Correspondent have you spoken this week? No. We haven't spoken, but I emailed him in and said keep it up. Don't worry about the vicious attacks on you by anybody and the threats and all of this..

"Okay, but one of the is much love, Bo and that era, and I grew up in that era of Michigan football, I'm kinda. I'm kinda over talking about that era because we kinda kept to keep talking about it because the current air hasn't been that good. You know what I'm saying? You know. So it's kind of a double edge sword, but I'm gonna use a Reagan analogy because he was masterful at this one of my all time favorite Reagan clips. I mean, one of them you guys probably know if you're a little older Reagan bombed. The first debate in the nineteen Eighty-four presidential campaign. It was really bad and people like he's old these past his prime. He was the oldest man of. A running for president the second time in a row and the the very next to bait. I think it was in Louisville was the second debate. And the first question the moderator said, hey, Mr President you were really heavily criticized for the performance of your last abate. People thought you were step slow. People thought that your critics have said, you know, maybe you should consider that you're too old for the, you know, for the trials and tribulations of this office in Reagan without missing a beat, says. Well, I want the American people to know that I'm not gonna make age issue in this campaign, which is why I will not stand here and criticise the youth and inexperience of my opponent. And everybody in the auditorium laughed all the moderators. Last Mondale Lateran. Okay. That's an example which Shakespeare used to call hoisting them from their own petard and my favorite example of this of Reagans and you can get this clip on YouTube. You look for it when when Sam Donaldson was the chief White House correspondent for ABC back in the day, and it's the early years of the Reagan presidency and we and and the tax cuts have just been passed and we're mired in a recession. This was eighty one eighty two and Sam Donaldson gets up and ask questions as Mr President. You have said here in railed against tip, O'Neill railed against the Democrats railed against your predecessor, his economic policies for why the economy is struggling to recover during your presidency, sir. You are the president of the United States. Is there nothing about this that you're responsible for? Good question actually, right. And Reagan again without missing beat, looks right at him and says, well, Sam for many years, you're right. I. I should take responsibility for many years. I was a democrat, and so some of this is my fault. That's what I'm talking about right there. If you can flip it around on them, I've done this when people have. You know, when I've done this on television, I'm like, well, you know, I'm gonna have to kind of defer to you and what a lion snivel in fool is. I mean, you're a Clinton voter, so you probably know more about it than me. All right. When you can do that when you can turn their premise around and hoist them from it, because not only is it affected, but it's funny effective and one of the things we're beginning to learn on the right after the left has done this to us for years is if it's funny if you make people laugh, you can be vicious. I totally agree. But I've got one example of this that I've personally used and I'm undefeated at it and it sometimes a little scary because you Steve mentioned yesterday, bringing up the issue of, you know, you did a whole scam about running up the score and some people didn't. You know, they just weren't paying attention. You mentioned the life issue already. Any time they want to instantly and they always do the poach, the pro-abortion movement that the baby killing industry, the break, incest and health of mother. You. Okay. You and I are king for the day. We get to decide that I'll give you that whatever it is one to three percent. You give me everybody else instantly stops the conversation, the deal. They never take the deal. They won't because it's not just about those hard cases. And of course we don't believe those cases on this show, but neither do they and you can point it out in a second. Now, this next commandment number six is when the Republicans abandoned all the time, which is why they're often fighting two front war. Never abandon your base unless they're morally wrong..
Jets rally around Sam Darnold after rough loss to Dolphins
"You had the New York Jets in their home opener a Jew stuff MetLife stadium where you had the chip van all fired up the C Sam Donaldson home debut. He also had a lot of dolphin fans as per usual making the annual trip, and what you got is basically a carbon copy of what we've seen in the Todd Bowles era. This is not same old jets because you feel good about your quarterback, which will get to in a moment. Todd Bowles teams though when they have that dominant win. They usually lose the following in. Now, not gonna say they laid a complete agonists entire game because they did fight back in the second half. But they lay in the first half down twenty nine against the Miami Dolphins. And what you saw in that first half is the inexperience of a rookie quarterback who at times is going to make some steaks the TJ McDonald interception. Sam darnold didn't see TJ McDonald. Big lead to a Miami Dolphins. Touchdown. Dan, you look at the end of the first half. And this way, you're going to take the jets coaching staff task here. The lack of awareness at twenty to nothing. As time went out and not get points. At the end of the first half is inexcusable. That's on everybody involved. That's on Donald that Don Herndon that is on Bates and Amazon Todd Bowles. You gotta come away with something. Now, they did not. Daniel a big sequence in this game. When the dolphins will get shut down, and it will get shut down a ton. That third quarter. You get the strip Saka. Ryan tannehill you set up down twenty to sixty Santa right here we go just scored right back in the game. And Donald throws the intercession. Beautiful pay by Exergen Howard, Terrell Pryor. Doesn't run the right route. And that was a killer. But all in all from Sam darnold. You still saw a lot of things you really liked the bounce back. He made some plays on the Ron you new things the dolphins. We're going to be able to do in this game. We're going to be able to generate pressure. Eight jet offensive. I couldn't handle Raba Quinn. They couldn't handle Cameron. Wake felt like the dolphins were getting pressure play after the play. And what did I say Sunday morning if the jets were going to win this game they needed to run the football actively? Jets could not get a running game going with blowout. Palate. Could not get a running game goal with Isaiah Crowell. But yet. That's an eight point game and the unfortunate nature of this game. If you're Jeff Han is that San Donna was starting to get into a groove. He starting to get into a rhythm. And he doesn't get a chance to get the football back in MRs way, look at
