"That he had, and they took that away just a little bit towards the end of the season. He's Jason fits. I'm Freddie Coleman on Friday, and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, ESPN app. And since excellent channel 80 giving you big questions involving these four games in the NFL, we move on the Giants versus the Broncos. Jason was the biggest question about that game. Can the Giants abomination of an offensive line? Hold up? I mean, just this is a Broncos team that is getting a little bit of love. That's going to get a lot of love for their defense after this game, But I don't think it's because the Broncos are particularly good. I think the Broncos have a lot of questions of their own. I cannot wait to see Jerry Judy play with the competent quarterback. I think that's going to be fun. But man that Giants offensive line is going to get everybody killed, and I think that the Broncos are going to feast. My biggest question is how much Daequan Barkley we're going to see because the sake one has his way as most players want to have their way. He wants to be out there for more than a little bit When you're coming up with torn a C L and you run the way that he does, where you rely so much on jump cuts and everything like that. You can't put that kind of stress in your first NFL game when you have not had any preseason action. To see if you're going to be ready to do that. So how much of that game plan is going to involve him? How involved will he be in that game plan? Because we know if he's effective. Daniel Jones feels a lot better. If he's not effective. If he's still injured enough, then that's going to be a situation that jobs may have to think about not just for this game, but for the rest of the season. Last. But not least you got the Jets versus the Panthers, the new quarterback with the Jets against the ex quarterback of the Jets, when it comes to Zach Wilson on one side for New York and Sam Donna on the other side for the Carolina Panthers. Jason was the biggest question about this game. How many drinks does too many drinks for a Jets fan When you watch what Sam Darnell's actually capable of doing without enough around him? I mean, I think Sam Donaldson to me he's going to be the comeback player of the year. Matt Rule is going to have that team click and Christian McCaffrey is going to have a big year if he's a lot up for Sam Donald, who I think is one of those guys that responds to being believed in and he feels like that's the case in Carolina. I know that sounds cheesy, but I think it makes a difference to his performance on the field. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Panthers go out and beat the Jets and San Donald look really good doing it. That wouldn't surprise me either. And my biggest question about that is after that game is over. How many judge fans want to jump off the roof? Because Zach Wilson is not the guy after one game? That to me is the biggest question about this When they're going to say, Oh my God, he looks so great in the preseason, announced the regular season. Why can we have drafted Trail and or Justin Field? I can't wait to hear if the Jets don't be the Carolina Panthers and I'm with you. I think the Panthers are going to win. What the New York fan base is going to sound like on Monday with things not going their way when they thought they got a better quarterback that anybody could have imagined. In preseason with Zach Wilson. He's Jason fit to them on Twitter at Jason fits and Freddie coming to me on Twitter, Com and ESPN, part of the Doctor Pepper Twitter feed. We are part of Freddie and Fitzsimmons. And speaking of that writers, Jason tell you the biggest question about that team. The people rooting for them. And this year this is ESPN radio. We're back on.

"Mark Scofield our guest long ago. In the conversation. You mentioned the point about Tom Brady's dad and sort of the feeling that this is just how it has to end. But with certain quarterbacks quarterbacks in a certain level, maybe And I think I read that. Rogers is one of five players to have won three M V P awards. The other four guys all ended their careers with different teams. Rogers is the only one Manning Brady Farm and United ended up going to different teams for different reasons. Um, so it can seem like this is sort of normal. If Rogers does move it one thing that I think about so Denver didn't draft a quarterback. Maybe they're sort of leaving room for him. Carolina was the same thing. Carolina did trade for darn old previously and then gave him the fifth year option. But still like you move things around for for a player like Rogers. Mark Watson is still somebody that this has to get figured out for two and the first thing. The ongoing thing, of course, is the legal situation that he's in. And I'm not here to make a prediction about that. But well, I guess I guess I'll say something like I feel like probably he'll be suspended for some amount of time. But who knows? Just a meaningless guess. Still, though, he didn't We know he didn't want to play for Houston anymore, anyway. Probably doesn't but he plays somewhere else. I mean, I would think he's going to be in the league, and so I wonder how maybe those teams or others are still sort of proceeding here with respect to him. Yeah. Yeah, that's sort of the elephant in the corner of the room, right? Because all the weed up until this legal situation started to unravel And watching his left was the idea that look, that relationship was also fractured beyond repair. I remember saying that with you guys Couple months ago that there's no way he's coming back to Houston. And look what the Houston Texans do when they finally were on the clock In the third round. They drafted a quarterback and what do you stake? Davis Mills could be an NFL starting quarterback or not the fact that they went quarterback when they have so many needs on that roster right now. Tells you that internally. They probably think that even if watches cleared to play at some point, he's not coming back to play for Houston. So I do think it's you Mike Carolina with who is rumored to be in it to Shawn Watson mix before this went down. Yes, they drafted they traded for Sam Donald. But I don't think they can go all in on Sam Darnell's being the savior down in Carolina. I think they it's similar to the Rogers discussion. If you have an opportunity to require player after Sean Watson's talent, then you will go down that path. Obviously, teams that would be calling about to Sean watching. They're going to have to have this legal situation of the back of their mind. Does that impact his value? Can you make this trade as an organization before this is resolved? Those are some things that It was. Your decision will be made by people above my pay grade. Believe me, but I do think that the watching situation if it does get resolved, and he's allowed to return to the field water if there Certainly then Houston will look to move him because having drafted a quarterback given everything that was said prior to this legal situation unfold, and I don't see he's going. I don't see him going back to Houston. Much like I don't see Roger's going back to Green Bet. Mm hmm. So how do you see the FC? Obviously, Rogers is a is a wild card there. If he gets moved to Denver or even the Raiders have been mentioned. It changes the fortunes for those teams, but About some other teams. I mean, we'll get to the bills here eventually, what they did in the draft on what you think of that. But how about Miami? How about Cleveland? A. Zafar is like what they've done. I see them getting a lot of credit, especially for remaking their secondary. Um, feels like they might be a team to be reckoned with this year. Yeah, guys. I really like what Cleveland did. And the number of Twitter de Abs text message is text from family members saying, you know, are the Browns gonna win the Super Bowl? I mean, there's a lot of excitement about what they did this offseason. You mentioned the secondary. Greater than you know Josh Johnson, the safety, huge acquisition for them. I think they were in France last year that they had a bunch of safety, but nobody could really be that sort of middle of the field post Safety type player, and they just added that and Johnson It was a tremendous acquisition for them. They're gonna get Grant. Help it back. They had Troy Hill. And then Theo read. Continue without into the you know the draft cycle. Adam Greg News in them the northwestern corner who's more of a zone coverage job. He has the ability to click and clothes on routes to drive on place. Make disruptive place in the catch point. He's got a bit of an injury history, but That's a secondary. Now that can match up with some of the elite passing offenses that they'll see in the A F. C. Whether it's Kansas City, whether it's Buffalo that ability to sort of create mismatch create matchups on the defensive side of all that's huge for them. That out of Jeremiah will shoot, come or the linebacker from Notre Dame who they could use is a safety they could use in the slaughter. He's played all over the place. I really like what Cleveland did. No other teams that also, you know, made a good use of their draft capital over the draft. We can sure you could make a case for the Jets. You could make a case for the Dolphins. You could make a case Friday Number of teams But I really like where the Browns have put themselves over the course of both free agency and now the draft. Do you think New England is a playoff team? The big I mean, could they be? Yes. What does it come down to? Quarterback? I mean, period full stop. They made some acquisitions. We We know all about the receivers. They added the title. They added the players they're getting back. All the defensive side of the ball, but you could have all these weapons around the quarterback position. But if you can't get consistent, solid quarterback play in this league the way it's set up today. You're not going to be a successful teeth. And so whether that's Cam Newton whether it's Mack Jones that remains to be seen. I think the roster outside of quarterback is a playoff roster. But quarterback is like half the battle here in today's NFL, and if they get the same level of play from Canada they got last year. I don't think they could get into the playoffs now. Couldn't get close. Perhaps could they perhaps steal again that they might have lost last year, given the editions of talent of the other positions, perhaps, but I do think that it's really there come down to whether they can get sustained. Consistent production out of that quarterback position, and I have to see it before I buy in on it because Cam was very high variance last year, and then when you talk about dropping a rookie quarterback, and potentially that could go a couple of different ways..

"Coverage begins on ESPN and ESPN radio and boy What an exciting draft. This is going to be, especially as it pertains to the top 10 picks and Amber. We know a couple of things from free agency. Sam Darnell's, of course, is now a Carolina Panther and I want to start by just mentioning this at the top because I think it could have ramifications for those behind the Panthers. They're currently slated to pick in the first round at number eight overall. Now general managers got Fitterer said yesterday that the team won't decide on Donald's fifth year option for the 2022 season until after the 2021 NFL draft. Now I say that because That puts in just a little shadow of a doubt of okay if they're gonna wait to pick up his option or not, which is which is fair. A lot of people. You don't have to decide until the beginning of May. If you're gonna pick up Ah, players option or not. Just in the back of your mind makes you wonder. Is there any possibility the Panthers could actually select a QB? We We've talked about this draft class. How talented these guys are. Surely not all of them are gonna be phenomenal. Long term NFL quarterback. Somebody's going to be a bust. But I'm not saying the Panthers. You're going to take a quarterback. I don't think that's necessary at this point after what they've given up to get Sam Donald there, but it's just raised some eyebrows of is that a possibility that the Panthers would consider it. If that's the case. It makes number seven, which currently is held by the Detroit lines that much more of a coveted pick. Which leads me to my question. If you circle the Detroit's pick right now, is that what the New England Patriots are eyeing? And are they going to call the Lions and say, Hey, We want to move up. You guys need to stockpile picks. Let us come up and get a quarterback. What say you? Well, first of all, I don't think you make the trade that the Panthers made even though I understand they bought low on Donald. But you don't make that trade. If you're then going to draft a quarterback, I don't see how that makes any sense. I think what you do is you don't pick up his option until after the draft, cause you're hoping That teams like maybe the New England Patriots get fearful that you are considering Ah, quarterback, And so maybe they would even try to make you an offer And obviously them applying. The strategy does probably work out well for the Lions in terms of fielding offers as well, However, we're talking Patriots here, Katie. I mean the Patriots in the Bill Belichick. Error. They've done 14 trades I believe spent a lot of have involved moving up and down in the first round, however. None of them have seen Bill Belichick move up into the top 10. In fact, Patris haven't traded up into the top 10 since 1984. I believe it is. So that's not something that the New England Patriots typically Diogo. I don't know what the Patriots are going to do in this draft. I think of the Patriots are interested in a quarterback, though there are quarterbacks that they could take. Where they're currently slated at 15. I mean, I understand that we're always talking about the big what, four or five quarterbacks if you want to add Mack Jones to that list, but we mentioned it earlier, and I mentioned it all affair. Kyle Trask. He's somebody who allegedly the Patriots have been searing in on and spending some time. We know that they got one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Certainly not in the first round on your music around. Not even the third. So maybe Bill thinks that he can get some of that magic back. Where? Yeah, He's not gonna wait until the fifth round of the draft kind of thing. But maybe he could take a Kyle Trask at 15th. Or maybe a Mack Jones falls to him there and he can still take a quarterback. I don't see the New England Patriots trading up with the lines or the Panthers, or, frankly, anybody slated that high in the draft. To draft a quarterback. I just don't feel like that The Patriots are going to make that move. I don't know if I have a really good reason for it other than the Patriots don't do that. But the majors will do that, Katie, they don't I think the only way they do that is, say somebody in the top four of the quarterbacks false Isn't selected, say Justin Fields is still on the board when the Detroit Lions are on the clock. That's when I could see them picking up the phone. I don't know if they pick up the phone if we've seen Trevor Lawrence, Zack Wilson, Trey lands and Justin Fields all come off the board. Would they make that move for Mack Jones? I have a hard time seeing it, but it's a Justin Fields is still on the board. I could see them picking up the phone and doing something that they rarely Dios. Here's Mike Tannenbaum, ESPN NFL Front office insider on what the Patriots should do if they're willing to move up. It's the Patriots, the Patriots of the Patriots. How can you go through an off season like they've done where they've greatly improve their team been uncharacteristically aggressive, made massive improvements as they get within shouting distance of Ah! First round pick to get up to let's say eight to go, and my suggestion today was go from 15, a for next year's one. Carolina has CME Donald. They gave up a two or four next year for Donald. They'd love to sit. There were two ones. And if you're New England, let him sit behind. You know, Justin Fields understood behind can do for a year. Now, If your new England you've got your much better team this year, hopefully an improved cam Newton and most importantly now you have your core back.

"Best out of the day. Stat of the day. Here comes that What stat of the day All right. Best inwards to the weekend. It's great to be back phone calls or welcome. Peter King will join us coming up his Carolina. The landing spot the destination for two Shawn Watson. And what would you give up for two Shawn Watson? I say you're Carolina. How many first round draft picks. And Christian McCaffrey. If you're the Dolphins, how many first round draft picks? And would you give up? Christian Wilkens, former teammate of Sean Watson's, would you give up to Ah, If you're the Jets, how money First round picks you give up. And you give up Sam Darnell's Would have no problem giving up. Whatever a team once. If I could get my franchise quarterback on his second contract, and he's 25 years of age, the league is all about getting a quarterback. The league is set up for you to go. Eight. Nate. They want everybody to go. Eight. Nate. The difference between 10 and six Six and eight. That math didn't work Six and 10. Sorry, e. I was I was on a roll. Okay? I mean times a couple of times 18 minutes in all right, 10 and 66 and 10 is your quarterback. I mean, there's some luck that goes into it. But your quarterback is the difference. And if you get your quarterback or you can get a quarterback, you go get him. Yeah. Did have a good time off. By the way I do. I just didn't have anybody to talk to It's all I've you know, I've had some things on my mind and I You know, I wanted to be able to express those. I'm not on Twitter, by the way. Yes, but come, people on the Twitter said. You know, if you're not a outsider, an insider, you could be a tweener like you're not a defensive lineman or a linebacker. You could be a tweener. Not that works. You like the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen of sports reporting. Wow, that's not working. That's well between the things that working. That's one of the meanest things you've ever said She just played. No, I was shooting down between her idea. Just indirectly got another one. You're not inside the house. You're not outside the house. You're like a three season porch, open air, but there's no you know. Heat or air conditioning room floor where he screened in those green and smoke a cigar out there. We'll talk about the Lakers situation with LeBron. He wants to be the M V P, but I can't have him play all these minutes with Anthony Davis out for the next month and are the Nets the team to beat in the embassy? "You thinking that you are going to be The second highest paid quarterback in this league without stepping on the field. Now he could come on lead the Cowboys to an NFC East Division title on F C championship game. It could be a different deal a year from now. But you're putting a lot on the line after you've already put a lot on the line as yes, exactly. And as you alluded to earlier, Arnie needed a second surgery, Listen, we all want what's back. What's best for deck? But right now, I think there's a legitimate reason to question Is he going to come back? How healthy is he gonna be? Take the money and run, baby. Take the money and run. You play well enough to deserve that money. What makes you think you shouldn't get a little bit less coming off two surgeries and a terrible injury? Um, who wants to give you a long term contract after that? Certainly not I and by the way, what makes you think that's gonna accept anything? If I was back, I go back and accept $35 million a year. And get it done because of what happened. I don't. I don't know if he's going to go back on that right now. But he's gotten some bad advice. As far as I'm concerned, you think 30,000,035 million is still on the table from Jerry Jones. I think so. Why am I by crazy on? That is not on the table anymore. What? He just had surgery a second surgery. He snapped his ankle a half. Well, you're if you're the Cowboys, you can't go backwards. If you start going back, not you're not negotiating in good faith already. What if we wait? What do you mean, You're not negotiating in good faith. That's the terms of the deal changed. The deal was on the table. Barring that he's playing and he's healthy. He's not healthy anymore. Aaron. If you go backwards like that, that I'm not even going to come to me. I'm just have you. Have you ever watched sports? But like, how long have you been doing this for DeMarcus Cousins was one of the highest paid players in the league. Then he tor is a C L E tour is Achilles. Now he's making a million dollars a year. What do you talking about That Z cousins? You know what I mean, is cousins. He was an all star. He accomplished more in his career. The deck Prescott has to this point. Trevor Awards is having surgery. You still don't think he's gonna be the number one pick and that's good. Gonna be up to six friends. He's not negotiating a contract he set in stone. He's set in stone, even with her without the surgery. So what do you What exactly? You think the Cowboys also tell you that exactly should the Cowboys off. I'm kind of curious. I don't think you offer him what you were offering him when he was fully healthy, and 100% so far was offering. He said No to 35 year, and now you're going to come back with what? 30 year. So let me ask you a question if you offered me 30 year. You know how fast I'm going. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna pull Russell Wilson. I'm going to do an interview with the media. I'm going to make you look so bad One is going to have sympathy for Dak Prescott. If it gets out that he turned down 35 year, and then he bet on himself and he got hurt. No one is gonna feel bad, Arnie. I don't know. What do you What is the term that Arnie Spanier always says or doing the show today? Right? And you say that Because circumstances change. I can come on the show today and I could have come on the show on Saturday and said the Lakers are the unquestioned NBA champion. Well, guess what. We were doing the show on Saturday. Things have changed. Anthony Davis, who knows what his future is this season. I can't come out and say the same thing. And it's the same thing with that, Prescott. You can't sit here and say, Well, he was gonna be paid this much money this time last year. Yeah, well, the circumstances changed. I'm doing the show tonight. And guess what if he comes out and throws for 45 touchdowns and three interceptions next year on one good ankle, then the circumstances are going to change again. And I might be willing to give $40 million. But you can't do the whole well, he was offered this two years well. I mean, will you? I mean every, but you never gave me an answer. You have 35 is too much. And you're gonna what? Given what 25 Million. What do you What do you think is going to happen? Erin, if you offered him 25 million Seriously, what? What do you think? I'll tell you what I would do. But what do you think he would do? After he just coming off a bad injury and you're going to try to give him 5 to $10 million a year because it's so 5 to $10 million less is what 20% less Are We not arguing that he's 20% less of a player coming into next year? Then he probably was last year, you wouldn't see me a camp of my life depended on it. That's fine. Hit the free agent market and wore the Cowboys will be fine. I'm not coming, either. You're gonna trade me. I'm not going to be great. Have 18 that's ready to compete. Right now for a Super Bowl. At every position, we will find a quarterback. You think you're worth 40 million Go find 40 Million. Hey, listen. Sometimes it works out The Washington Then Redskins did not believe Kirk cousins was worth what he was asking for the Minnesota Vikings role in a play Pam. How'd that work out for the Vikings went to the NFC championship game the year before he got there haven't been anywhere close since. So my point is, Have you seen the difference between the Cowboys with Jack? And without that, I'm just curious. That's because they had a bet they weren't planning on making Andy Dalton there full time starter last year. So go get Carson Wentz. Go get Sam Darnell's Go get go. Trade for the shop. What makes more money than Doc would've made Carson Wentz is a big car. Why would you want to pay Carson Wentz? If I'm the Cowboys that you don't want to give it the dac I would have come in and started new with a rookie quarterback of they're not gonna give it quarterback, But I'm just saying, I think it's ridiculous to assume that you're going to pay him the same amount of money that you were gonna pay him pre injury. Well, I just woke the whole point of him. Turning down the contract was he was betting on obsess. Well, guess what. He pushed all his chips in the middle, and it didn't work out. You're saying it's no different than if he would have had a year like 25 touchdowns, 25 interceptions and didn't get hurt Force. Of course. So s so again. Take it to the next thing that if you do up from that money, you know he's gonna be gone. You understand that, don't you? He's not going to He's not gonna want to come back. You could have to give those one year deals or you're going to have to trade him. We got a little more you a different question. Deck hits the open market right now, with all these teams that need a quarterback, but he's asking for the same $35 million a year. Do you go with Carson? Wentz was often injury. Do you go with Sam? Donald? Do you go with Mitch Stravinsky? Do you try to trade for the Shawn Watson, who is paying back? 35 year off of bang uncles? All the quarterbacks she gave me I'd go with Sam Donald Yeah, but women How much of Sam Darling do you think is how about what you think he's gonna cost? You start working contract? I know that..

"That's classic of what's happening right here. Yeah, And eventually they're gonna have to realize that Carson Wentz is a distressed property. I'm sorry was that I should I should I had decided not. Actually, Actually, not. Then the whole realtor thing. No, no, it work E. I don't think it's good stress property. I just think they over. They assumed it was worth more than its worth. And now they're chasing the market's not necessarily destroy. And, yeah, I mean, it's distressed from only only standpoint is Now, you once you say what you put a guy on the market on the trade market. Now it is over, right? It's like once you call the divorce attorney like it's over. Doesn't there's no taking that one back? Yeah, they need to see reality That Ah, player is only worth what someone's gonna pay for, right? It's like they say that about memorabilia, right? Well, how much is this card worth? You know the Honus Wagner remember billion worth? Well, what's worth about 500 Grand? But then somebody Ah, winning bid on an auction is 175 grand. Well, guess what? It's worth 100 $75,000. I mean that that's that's kind of what it is or Hey, This is probably worth about a million. But you know what? Todd McFarlane decides I'm going to spend $6 million on this baseball. So then it's worth $6 million. That's kind of where it's at with the Eagles. They have to realize that his worth is not what Matthew Stafford's was, You know, Matthew Stafford getting traded and a couple of first round picks and a third round pick going the other way. Mainly it's because they had to take on Jared Golf's contract, but you see that and think. Well, Carson Wentz is as good as Matthew Stafford. Well, OK, no, I mean, certain guys are seeing their their prices go up to Shawn Watson certainly saw his price go up the good the great quarterbacks this seeing their price go up, but this is this is what the reality is for the Eagles, and at some point they have to Kind of deal with it as a I'll go another. I'll go another one. If you have to deal as a sunk cost, right way drafted Carson Wentz. It didn't work out. We just have to move him for what we can. We got to get out from under this, and we have to move on because we've said publicly, we're going to trade him. And when you say publicly you're gonna trade somebody and you're not sure about what the outcome's going to be. You could take a risk and get burned because that's the Eagles did If the Eagles didn't say Hey, we're trading Carson Wentz. Everything would be fine, but they misjudged his value. And so when you They were trading somebody and, you know, look, his house. He's still sitting out on the market. Of course, it's gonna be worth less and less. The Eagles have to do something soon because they're not going to get a values aren't going to go up for him. They have to suck it up and bite the bullet and say, You know what? It didn't work? Well, we didn't get the first round pick we wanted We can get a couple of seconds we can get out from under him. It's not a big deal or not paying. Jalen hurts any money for the next four years. He's on a great contract was we got him in the second round, and they just have to move on. And the sooner they come to that realization, the easier it's going to be in the better it is for them to move on, Get whatever draft all they want to get and figure out what they want to do with the team. I don't know if there's his bigger Russia's You think there is, obviously you know, you'd like to get it done before the before the draft. But, yeah, I think it's my problem with like, what is their plan? I guess they're playing Is the draft a quarterback? Because Jalen hurts his, by my estimation, not the answer. Long term, I mean it. Had got badly exposed yet he they beat the Saints when the Saints didn't have a book on him. Then he look good against the Cardinals didn't have very good defense and then Once people got a book on him, his limitations got exposed. Um like, Look, I think he's fine. But you know in, you know, he just limited as a pocket passer. And there's a reason that people thought of him as a third or fourth round pick and You know now how you rose been drafted him. So maybe Howie Roseman has a greater belief in him, and I know there's a locker room, believing him. An old guys generally like him. But there's just a what we've seen. There seems to be a limit a ceiling, a lower ceiling, then Karsh once the problem is that custom wins is experiencing a lower floor than you have with Jalen hurts in terms of how he's playing right now. I just I know I don't know what they're doing. You know, I know that the hiring process was a poop show and you know you had to have somebody was willing to take orders from up top. But why would you hire Head coach. You know who worked with Frank Reich? Unless you thought you were going to hold on to Carson, Wentz, and now you want to get rid of Carson ones. That part doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, It's like they decided that everybody is on a different page. You know, like Jeffrey. Lori clearly is in for the rebuild, Right? Okay. I'm good with the rebuild like they got rid of Doug Peterson. We're gonna trade Carson. Want something? I get that But I don't get that The rest of the team isn't on the rebuild. Well, it's that's all we have going on here. I mean, that's why the quicker they trade Carson Wentz, They confined their direction, right. What's our identity going to be a way to try to go for with Jalen hurts? I like him a little bit more than you do. I think mainly because all right, the guy went through a season where there was no pre season wraps. There was no anything he didn't get any of the first team reps. And then suddenly he's kind of thrown out there, and he showed glimpses of being a pretty good quarterback. He had some 300 yard games. Had one game where he threw three touchdowns against Arizona. You mentioned that game, so I'm okay with it. All right, Let's give. Let's give Jalen hurts a shot here as we go through the offseason with his close to a normal offseason, we're gonna have is gonna take all the reps. He's going to get games before he goes in, and he showed glimpses, and I'm a big fan of if you showed glimpses. I'll give you a chance, but yeah, we should They get a quarterback. Yeah, but this They need to find out who they are, like. All teams need to find out who they are. What's the right? What's the Jets identity going to be? Are they staying with through Sam? Donald? Are they not? It's like everybody's in this big holding pattern while things get figured out with the quarterbacks, and it's Carson Wentz, and then when he gets traded, then it'll be okay. One of the Jets gonna do with Sam Darnell's He gonna get traded, then if someone really going to call it an offer for Derek Carr The Raiders are kind of in a in a situation right now where they don't know how they're going forward. It's like the whole league is being held hostage by where we got all these quarterbacks, and so we know where their destinations are gonna be there all just kind of in this limbo and that that could go on for months, and we can you go into the draft, or you know, into free agency and potentially out of free agency with some of these things will not be an answer. Yeah. You know, I it is interesting, like the wind thing is fascinating. I don't like I don't think jail hurts the starting quarterback long term in the NFL. I'll put that one on record. I do think there's there's a little bit of anybody but Carson Wentz to it. And I know you need mobile quarterbacks. I think what's fascinating is, you know everybody points out..

"On featuring K, NPR's Polly Mac, Creative Tony and Shannon Caylor of the Stone. Fox is on KNBR, These fourth leader. All right, everybody. We're back in the podcast. Palling, Mac Creative, Tony Shadow. Caylor. Listen, we're having a good time today talking. We did a little Super Bowl review. Well, in all of Steph Curry session crimes, Tony, if I could take your temperature is a fellow Niner fan. Lifelong. I know that because every day I go on the air with Murph There's a new story about all Sam Darnel. Carson Wentz like All these people have the answer, apparently at the quarterback position for the Niners. I try to remind people as far as I know they still have a quarterback. Tony. What do your thoughts about when you hear Sam Donald's? You're hearing Carson went. I don't personally I don't want to see Carson Wentz of Red and gold. I don't know where you guys with all this talk and Garoppolo State of the Union Go. Why is all the sudden Donald better than garage? Boa? I don't understand that. I mean, in his career 45 touchdowns 39 picks? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Hey, he's not. He's not awful. But neither is Jimmy Garoppolo. And if you're gonna spend draft picks everything to get another quarterback I don't want Donald anywhere, nearly one in red and gold. I don't know. Disrespected Donald. I think he's Fine. But what has he done to show me that he's gonna be a step above? Gravel. I just don't buy much. Not much. I actually I actually have. I have nothing against Sam. Darnell's at all. I think that Yeah, I still think he could become a good NFL quarterback. Maybe even great someday. I mean, who knows if he gets in the right system, But I agree with you, Tony. I don't know that. He's shown enough to kind of warrants that kind of movement and that kind of sacrifice when it comes to draft picks, and what the night is about to give up And on top of all of that one thing I keep hearing and I'll Shannon, I'll hand this off to you is that You know, the Niners would have to part with something significant, Tony. Like you said a draft pick. Perhaps Nick Bosa. I've heard his name and get kicked around all I gotta say that that is. Did you guys see what a good pass rush can do? The Ah, great quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Oh, I'm not. I mean, do we already took a hit losing Buckner? And look at the toll that took, I think losing Nick Post. It would just be foolish as a price for any quarterback Taylor go. I think we're a year, maybe a year and a half away from saying Nick Bosa back to being the same Nick Bosa. It's gonna take time for his leg to totally recuperate. We saw what happened with Jimmy G that took time. Evidently nicked. Bosa's injury was a little bit worse. But as far as quarterbacks, it seems to me that the only guy worth throwing the whole kitchen sink at is Watson. But After watching Tom Brady and thinking about OK, Do you really have to have the uber athletic quarterback to succeed? And the answer is no. Uh, so I don't know. I'm with you guys in that the pieces around Jimmy surrounding Jimmy with great pieces is better than losing all your pieces and having to Shawn Watson. That's that's kind of what I'm thinking at the moment, but I don't know also, guys, I thought we should take just five seconds here to just shout out. John Lynch. Congratulations. Yes, getting in the pro Football Hall of Fame much deserved, And I would say Tony, much overdue. I was surprised. It took that many votes to get him in. I mean to me. I remember watching John Lynch. I know you do, too. I thought it was pretty obvious He was a Hall of Famer back when he was playing. But anyway, congrats getting in John. Great work. You could tell that Lynch was a Ronnie Lott fan. By the way, by the way, Lynch played And the way he just approached the game in the way like he just was always the guy looking to lay the smack down, right and hey, was really fun to watch. He was on the bucks, I think for 11 years I mean, that's pretty impressive man. And we had a long overdue. I agree. I gotta tell you, you know, the I have a great John Lynch kind of memory of him. Just being like, Ah, good dude, which is back in the Tony? I don't know. Woman's just 2017. Maybe remember when you two Did the stadium tour. They were performing the Joshua Tree. Yes, we want that show. I don't know. Yes, of course you were sitting with us. Yeah. Yeah way Did the roof talk top decking? That's exactly where I was going. So chatting before the you to show the Niners were nice enough to invite Tony and I and others up to a rooftop. In high school, man, This is gonna be a lot of fun kind of reminded me guys. We're still all of us waiting for the covert restrictions to be lifted so we could get back to a lot of music and stuff. But, Tony, if I could I'm gonna put the screws to your right now. T to this point. What's your favorite Levi Stadium concert that you've seen on Then I'll answer the question and the Shannon do you have Levi concert experience? And I actually don't I don't have it. It's just gonna be between Tony and I. Tony favorite Levi Stadium show Go. It's a no brainer. For me. It's the fare thee well. That shows that you know. What were they those three years? It was that three years ago that try 6 2015. No. Yeah. Yeah. God, no, That's what happens. What happens? I haven't And I haven't seen a bad show of Levi's, actually. No, neither can I. If you take the dead I'm gonna take the Rolling Stones, Stones stones to be my second That was a damn good showman. That midnight Rambler the 15 minute, midnight Rambler. All of it. I'll take it 10 times out of 10. And then maybe at some point we could get Shannon off his ass to get out to a live show to. I don't know me and Santa Clara. We don't like that kind of stuff. Keep the noise down, please. Okay, guys, Speaking of noise, we're kind of like doing like a ski slope there and gone through the flags today. Slalom. Is that called Tony When you go through the flags? No. There we're going. We're going podcast Slalom today, Guys, I just want to ask your thoughts. There's no right or wrong Answer Justin opinion thing, but We get into stuff like this in the podcast the story in Dallas in the MBA. I think it's kind of interesting. If you guys noticed this week, you know, it kind of came out that The Dallas Mavericks and more Cuban, their owner have chosen To not play the national anthem this year before their games. And I, frankly, I'm surprised. It's not a bigger story. But I just want to know like kind of where you guys are with that, or if that were to spread like Let's just say, for example, like one of our Bay Area teams Decided to go the same way. Let's just say Lake up, say, Lake of decided to do away with national anthems before basketball games. Shannon, I'll start with you with that. Where are you? Would you be cool with that? Or would you be offended by that? Like, what do your feelings about the national anthem? Either get, you know, continue to get played, or perhaps getting removed. Yeah, I guess I've always seen the national anthem. As you know, it's being used by these teams on a really corporate setting. I mean, whether you like it or not, sports is incredibly corporate, especially at the pro level and even in college. I'm sorry, but it feels like that These corporate teams and sponsors used The national anthem to give their product gravitas. Kind of in the idea that like okay, we're going to do the national anthem now, because aren't we lucky to enjoy this beautiful product that we've created for you? You know it, Z kind of weird and to be honest, so as a Mennonite, I'm not. That's my religious thing. Lot of many nights. We don't even stand for the national anthem because of you know, allegiance, God issues that some of us have another nun in a disrespectful way, Justin Allegiance kind of way, But so so I guess that I come from that perspective, But I do think that some of these, you know, the MBA A and you know Major League baseball every game..

"Gotta be honest with you, Mike. Some nothing but honest. After all the news the last couple of days as the screws seemed to be tightening onto Shawn Watson in Houston. I am actually very, very calm about the future and where he gets traded. All right today, their president resigned as their continued to make over the front office and one of the long time insiders. John McClane with the Houston Chronicle said that listen If to Shawn Watson gets traded anywhere, he's going to the Jets. I These are the big day thereafter as Houston is getting rid of their front office guys and hiring new head coaches and telling everybody, we're not trading to Shawn Watson. And here's John McClane saying, Listen, it's the Jets. That's where he's going. I am actually very calm and not panicking. Because I This is where the Jets can play the long game because as quarterback start coming off the board and it's going to be went to will be traded. Next is going to be Sam. Darnell's right. That's the It's like everybody's up in a in a chute, right, like here's When's he's gonna get trade. Who's up next? All right, and there, Sam Donald, as long as the Jets make a decision on what to do with Donald Then they can play this out forever, because in the end, there's only going to be two teams that are going to try to trade for dish on Watson, the Jets and the Dolphins because they're the only teams that can send quarterbacks back. Or give them enough draft capital. That's going to make them trade because they're gonna have to trade Watson at some point, right? So I'm I am very calm with that. They may not realize it yet, but they will. And the longer time goes on, the worse the deal gets for them. They can sit here and say all we want to first two seconds and two players. That's great. If you want to trade him now, you could get that if you want to wait till the draft or after the draft when everybody's quarterbacked up. Guess what? You're not getting that you're not especially when you are taking your suitors down from six or seven or eight, down to two. It's not gonna happen s so that you don't get that. Because, tell me you wouldn't look at Trevor Laurence and all the potential versus what to Shawn Watson is and say, Wait. We can package Lawrence and what t bring to Sean in? Yeah, I think Urban Meyer still gonna pick the guy who is already on his path. Towards a great NFL career as opposed to the lottery ticket, so I don't think it necessarily stops it. It makes it a little harder, but I don't think it ends the pursuit by other teams. Just cause you wanted to make it all about the Jets. Yeah, No, look, it's way Do I think they're gonna get less traffic snow, They'll get the draft picks. They will get the players. That's what's gonna cut back is that we're not giving your players you take the draft picks because that's what's worthwhile. That's they're gonna wind up getting But if if you want to wait if you because both these teams both the Jets in the Dolphins are the only ones that have a quarterback that can go back. They can also stick with their guy if they want to. I wouldn't be crazy of it. But The Dolphins have already said Hey, to was our guy. Now It's tough to go back on that now, but you can easily sell. Well, We didn't know we're gonna have to show him, Watson. So really, there's only two suitors for Watson when it comes down to it, Jetson, the Dolphins and clearly number one I'm already, you know. Accepted that the Jets are gonna somehow blow it. But just in case something happens, and they don't They're doing the right thing as long as they decide, or we keeping Sam Donald or not, And if they trade him, if they have someone offers a first round pick, they're gonna have to trade him right that you can't say no to a first round pick for me, especially when if you don't get to Shawn Watson. Well, then we take a quarterback at number two. You know, that's where that's where it's going to be that that's that's the whole thing with the Jets when so this is going to this is going to reveal itself after Carson Wentz and after Sam Donald goes on the block, but this can play out for all I am not. I'm not panicked at all. I am incredibly calm about this. I am all good looking. If if it happens, it's gonna happen and it's not like I gotta worry about mystery teams getting involved. The Jets can play the long game. I am not panicked. I'm not nervous. I'm not anxious. I am all good about it right now. I'm also setting myself up for failure. But I'm all good right now. I promise you There's always the potential for another mystery team. Don't you know this isn't at the great thing of reporting Street team? Didn't we hear that in Vegas? Did we hear that filly? There's gonna be a mystery teeth. Same thing for to Shawn Watson, which look, it's been quiet and remember, we've never actually heard from him directly. Couple social media posts. No point if we got in that giant missive or dis track that everybody's been so eagerly anticipating much to your chagrin, I know but the more they fire people, Maybe they're just figuring if they keep hitting the reject button. Eventually, they pressed the right one that says, OK, I'll stay now. Yeah, that's not gonna happen That time. If you're still at the point where you are at odds with Watson, and you're firing people that he likes the equipment manager, they got rid of that Both he and J. J Watt love. He's not suddenly going to come back to you. I'm telling come back, I'll tell you Look, I'll be the guy telling you OK, Houston Texans, You're gonna realize that at some point and then you're going to say Oh, we should have realized this a while ago. And Texans fans want to bang their heads against the wall going take knew this was gonna happen. Trust me, Twitter. And how about a Fresca? Mike? It's swollen dome coming up next. Speaking of banging your head against the wall, Tom Brady might have done that today. This is Fox Sports Radio..

"Wentz has not been traded yet, even though leaks out of Philadelphia Have given people the impression across the country that Betrayed for Carson Wentz netting the Eagles. A substantial draft pick hall is imminent. As of now. Person wins has not been traded. That is your person wants update. Thank you Get whatever everyday events update Sounder. There was a Benjamin Alright report. He's an NFL insider yesterday that the Niners made a call Tolo. To the Eagles to inquire about Wentz and then Cara Folo from the NFL network is saying that The Eagles aren't getting the offers that they want. What? No, I can't believe it's all notion that they were gonna get anything even approaching. The Stafford deal was comical because Staff, then we got you know they only got that deal for Stafford because they took on golf's contract. Um, you know, otherwise, I don't think that deal would have been quite a biggest It was and Stafford is a better, more accomplished quarterback. You would think then went even though Wentz did have a terrific year. What year? That was that 27 17? Maybe I don't know. I mean, it's funny. It's like all this talk about quarterbacks and their people in the Niner camp that are like I love Jimmy. I love Jimmy. Then there's people that want to see them get go move on from Jimmy. And But then, every time you come up with the Who you gonna move on to? There's a whole group of people that are like I don't view that as an upgrade. Like for me, For example, I've you went is an upgrade from Jimmy. But I understand why people go. Oh, that's crazy. He was terrible this year. Um, clearly played went this year, but I think once is the better player. But then there are other people that see that they're rumors tying the Niners to Sam Donaldson and they like Sam Donald and they're like, Yes, Sam. Darnell's a better I don't view Sam Donaldson. Has better than Jimmy have you Jimmy as better than Sam Donaldson. So it's all beauty in the eye of the beholder. And you know there's gonna be people who are not happy when this thing's done because It's very subjective as to how good these players actually are. So she guys like Darnell, them haven't played a whole lot. Not the interesting question today and like this is all just Rode up in the air talk about it was probably never gonna happen, But one can be our Twitter. They ask the question. I think Chris Simms talked about it. Would you include Nick Posa in a trade for dish out, Watson? And I thought about that That is tough and I would do it if it were straight up. Because of positional value. Just because it's a quarterback for defensive end. I do think the defensive end or dominant defensive lineman is Number two on your positional value chart its quarterback in its game record on the defensive line, I was going to say deep into van but dark. Where Donald is more of an inside guy, but he goes outside to. He just said he disrupts the game. So that's a tough one. But I would not under any circumstances, including a package that includes other stuff like that would have to be like forget your multiple number ones like Bosa, Bosa and a two or both, said Three or two and a three or two and 42 and five. Some of something like that. But it would never be like, Oh, you get no one and both because to me both was Awassa is so good. And he does for defense. What a really good quarterback does. For what offense? He just makes it work. May we saw that last year, they still played hard. They were so pretty dang good, but they didn't get pushed like they did with Posa, and he's a little like Steph Curry in a way. And any superstar. They make somebody else's job easier. Everyone else get single coverage because they got to make sure they take care of this guy, and he's a guy that does it against the run against the past. He's young, he's still not making a ton of money. I mean, I just think that guy really tied everything together last year for that defense, so It would have to be who I mean. It's still be tough because you just be damaging your defense. But if you got a quarterback like that, I think you'd have to make that deal just because quarterbacks and more important than In defensive lineman. But it z. I think so much of that guy that when they say Well, we need a wanted to or two ones. And and maybe we get maybe, like, get out of here. You didn't know dude. No chance in the world. I'm even thinking about doing that, because this is a guy that I think once again, we'll see if he's healthy next year. He will make a difference is and I mean, of course, you could make a difference. We could make a huge difference in how good that defense is that that's how good that guy is, and that's how important a dominant defensive lineman Could be so I just You were healthier. I would I would put him on the I'm not moving him list. I would move them because of the injuries, but, um, but I wouldn't want to move him and I agree with you. I would not Wouldn't put him to me. He's a He's a got to be the number one part of the package. He can't be like a throw in, in addition to a bunch of number ones, and then then that's and I understand we're Houston's coming from. I mean, they don't want to move them. They were in the value. But it's gonna be interesting to see who ultimately You know, get has the power in this situation, and I think I'll let it go all the way to camp. I mean, it just seems really weird. I'll tell you. The other weird thing on the winds talk was that one of the team's kicking tires on him is the Texas So what does that tell you? Is that tell you that they're interested in quarterback? Battle E. I mean, off course, Wolf or looking for their next guy. You know if they move, Watson? I mean, what do you do at quarterback? Because they're not. I think the Eagles are getting a bunch of prank calls about Carson Wentz. Like, you know. Do you have the Prince Albert in the can. Is your refrigerator running? It's Carson Wentz. You're quarterbacking in the hang up into start laughing. I think these are all these calls about. Carson went and trying to get him and there being some sort of a bidding war. It's That that seems Seems unlikely. Doesn't it seems farfetched very much off the year he had. He was a terrible this year, but I will say this I death Richard Carson Wentz, for I P freely. We got a deal. I definitely think Shanahan likes went. I'm sorry, and I definitely think that but it's you know, he'll know about went better than most because of scandal Rela who was just with winds. So if skin generally we love any relevant gorilla. Bringing that up man was Carson Wentz was comically bad last year that rich can gorilla have anything to do with that. No, but I'm just saying, Rhys can't hold anything right? He just likes saying scandal rela. Oh, I don't know what it is about that, man. I know you love Santa Didn't tell your wife, don't you? You know this guy scanned a rela pretty impressed. "By the way, Matthew Stafford is one of 16 quarterbacks and league history. To pass for at least 45,000 yards in the regular season. He is the on Lee one of those 16 to never win a playoff game instead of today, day Yep, best out of the day status today. It comes that what stat of the day By the way, I'd like to publicly apologize to the Detroit lines. I wondered what their game plan was philosophy of saying publicly. Matthew Stafford. You want him come get him, and I thought that they would lose leverage. They did not. They basically said, we're going to create a marketplace for him. Give us your best offer, and it sounded like you had quite a few teams who are willing to pony up. Enough to catch the Rams interest. Itwas last Friday at this time, Albert Breer, senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist for the MM. QB, joined us. He dropped a little nugget that he thought Matthew Stafford could get traded before the Super Bowl. And I go Wait a minute. You must know something. And I thought, Let's have Albert Breer on to take a victory lap. Albert. Congratulations. So what did you know? And when did you know it? You know, I think Basically I knew the things that heated up and that the lines were of a mind to move him before the Super Bowl in large part to get ahead of the market. And I think this was sort of smart Dan in that. You know, they recognized that things could get chaotic with quarterbacks over the next couple of months. We've all talked about that. And is the Shawn Watson gonna become available Is Sam Darnell's gonna become available and so Think their logic was like, Let's put this guy out there so we don't have to worry about supply and demand screwing up an asset and, you know, let's give the kid Stafford let's give him some some certainty. Let's give the other team is trading form some certainty unless mast maximize the value of what we have. And so I think you know from that standpoint, it was smart to do it because You know a team like the Rams. Other teams involved. Washington Carolina You know, they had an opportunity to go after a guy who I think most teams view is the top 10 quarterback. Without you know, the I was out with out any certainty that that anybody of that level is going to be available again during the off season. So you know, I think it was just sort of a smart read of what might happen the next couple of months by by the Lions. But to make this deal happen, the Lions had to take Jared Goff. If this was Teddy, Bridgewater and Carolina where they're gonna have to take Teddy Bridgewater was this Yeah. Was this the formula by these other teams that you're gonna have to take our quarterback? If we're gonna make this happen? Yes. So I think it's sort of a two way thing, dan. Like I I think I'm one hand. You're right. Like the Rams. We're gonna have to offload Goff. It wasn't gonna work if they couldn't offload golf and Um, it would have been tough to move. Goff, if quite quite honestly, would have been very difficult to move. Go off, if you know if if they had traded for Stafford had both in the roster, So the cleanest thing for them to do was the offload Golf is part of the deal. That said, I mean, I could tell you this, like Dan Campbell communicated to people that front office He didn't want to be up a creek. A quarterback like he wanted a guy who got it least at least compete with for the next few years. And so, you know, I think from that standpoint Golf was sort of attractive to him and that they had, you know he has, you know, almost five years of starting experience, you know, started half his rookie year and there's been a starter since then. Started in a Super Bowl and, Yeah, I mean, I think that because of that, like there was a level of interest in golf and that at the very least, you know he could be a confidence starting quarterback for you for the next two or three years and buy you time defined whoever your long term answer is, I think from the same, you know, but the thing about the same sort of way If you're trading with Carolina, obviously, Teddy Bridgewater would be a guy that you'd mention if you're trading with Denver drew lock would be a guy that would come up so I think with, you know, a number of these teams, a quarterback could have come in play. If those teams have been able to get to the sort of draft pick comp the Rams are willing to give up which the downside for both of these teams. So the downside for the Lions is that the Rams could be really good over the next couple of years. And those pics might not be all that valuable. Um, you know, I think if you if you look at what the what was in front of the lines, they an opportunity to get the eighth pick in the draft. Um, it's part of a pig swapped. I think they probably could have wound up with the ninth pick two with Denver now they would have had to send a pic back. Which devalues it a little bit. They could have had the 19th pick Washington's pick, and so part of the risk for the lines here is you don't know what's gonna happen to the picks and 2022 2023. If the Rams are really good, you know, then those might be defacto second round picks, so that's the risk for the lines and doing this deal this way. The risk for the Rams is that you know they've become very, very top heavy and their salary structure and there's questions about whether or not you can put the right sort of support system around Matthew Stafford. You know, obviously there a little bit. You know, they had their issues in the offensive line the last couple of years. How does Andrew Whitworth hang on? Hold on, hold up. It left tackle. You know what happens if one of their big salary guys has an injury, So because the way they're structured now, it leaves them in a position where they're gonna have to hit on a lot of you know, 3rd 4th 5th round picks. In order to make up the difference and build death in case they do lose some of the hot, big name guys they have, and they've been pretty good, though, that they have you know they they've done well from the second round on. So we're talking Albert Breer, the senior NFL reporter, lead content strategist for the MM Q. B is the hall that the Lions got in any way related to what it's going to cost to get to Shawn Watson. No, because, well, I think part of the hall the lines were able to get was taking on God's contract right? Like so there was a little bit of and again like the lines wanted golf, like the lines, like the idea of having golf is their starting quarterback, at least, is a placeholder. But there was an MBA element to this right like that. You know they had the Rams had to give a little bit more to get the lines to take on golf's contract. So That definitely exists. Um I've lost my train of thought their damn what we suppose to question the Texans and what it's sections. Yeah, I don't. I do not think it. I don't think it affects that much. I mean, Sean watches a 25 year old superstar quarterback like I think you start with three first round picks. Probably if you're talking about dealing for the Shawn Watson and again, we don't know if he's going to be available. I mean, right now. I could tell you where it stands to. Shawn Watson isn't returning the Texans calls and like the Texans are basically stonewalling anybody who comes to them enquiring about Watson. So right now we're sort of in this giant staring contest and nobody really knows what the conclusion is. I mean, because we don't know whether or not to Shawn Watson is going to act. We asked eventually talked to the Texans people and we don't know if the Texans were going to get to a point down the line where they say you know what First year coach First Year GM We can't start a program with this hanging over our head for the next six months. Yeah, It's kind of interesting. I know that the necklace, stereo said they're not, you know, trading him or whatever, no intentions, But if I was in the press conference, I would have followed up by asking. Are you taking phone calls, though, Because that's what I want to know. Yeah, I mean, you can. Of course you're going to say we have no interest in trading him..

"John McClane's gonna join me in about 20 minutes. John McClane of the Houston Chronicle. Been covering the NFL for 46 years now. Uncovering football here in Houston for four decades. He has covered every snap of dish on Watson's short NFL career, and we will get the latest Under Shawn Watson. What exactly would it take to move the Texans off of the stance that they have taken? With the Shawn, which is we're not trading him, Nick Assyria said. We're not trading the player. That's exact words were not trading the player. We have no intentions of trading the player I was kind of interesting. There were people who thought that to Sean might interpret that is dismissive. I think if you interpret that is dismissive. You probably need to get a little thicker skin. I don't know. There's some people that get upset when Management refers to players by their number. No. Cal McNair does that a lot. He calls to Sean four. So to some of his teammates, JJ Watt called him four during the season. But for some reason when the owner does that, they're like, well, that's disrespectful, calling him for his name's to Shawn Watson. Holes. JJ number 90 calls him 99. His name is J. J. Watt. If you get worked up about that, man, I wish I had so little going on. I think it worked up about that. 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. If you want to get in, all right, we're gonna go back to the phones in just a minute. But I wanted to go through this exercise We've seen to Quarterbacks changed teams not officially. It'll be official in the middle of March, but the two sides have agreed The Lions and the Rams have agreed to a trade that sends Matthew Stafford to the Rams. Since Jared Goff to the Lions. Jared Goff has couple first round picks and a third round picks stapled to him on the way out the door. And the two teams now go in very different directions. They were already going in opposite directions, even with the quarterbacks. As they were in place golf on the ramp. Stafford on the Lions. Now they've essentially strapped a rocket ship to the back of the Rams. The Rams are one of the three or four Shortest odds to win the Super Bowl next year. The Lions, meanwhile, just became more likely to get a top three pick in the draft, already picking seventh With Matthew Stafford playing 16 games this year. Jared Goff is not good. So So those two teams have changed. Adam Schefter put up a tweet, where he said that he said that 18 teams could be changing their starting quarterback. Read the exact tweet for you Put up a graphic that has to Shawn Watson on it. And then it lists some cubes Whose futures Aaron question to Shawn Watson, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, Sam Darnell's Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Jimmy Garoppolo. Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, Mixed Robiskie, Jamis, Winston Fitzy, Alex Smith, Ben Roethlisberger. A lot of quarterbacks on there. It's about 12 to 15 that I just rattled off. Shifters. Contention is there are roughly 10 cubes locked into starting jobs for opening day of the 2021 NFL season. This is expected to be an unprecedented off season of QB movement. My over under of teams changing cubes this offseason is 18. I'll go with the over and again. It's just weird when somebody does that you're setting the number and then you're picking aside the idea. Setting the number is to get money on both sides of it. Picking over on your own number. It's called fixing. All right, but anyways, I digress. So he thinks that he's taking the over. So let's just be conservative and say he thinks that at least 19 teams are changing quarterbacks. That means there are no men in his mind. That there are only 13. Solid quarterback situations. And if the other 19 are all going to change I actually have 12 teams whose quarterbacks are sure to be starting again next year, like 100%. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Ryan Tannehill, Patrick Holmes. That's five Justin Herbert. That's six. Our cousins, Aaron Rodgers. Tom Brady, Matt Ryan in Atlanta, Russell Wilson in Seattle and the Cuyler Mary in Arizona. I would be floored if any of those 12 teams Changed quarterbacks. So now what would Adam Schefter is saying? Is it of the remaining 20 teams. That were basically going to see overhauls with all 20 of those teams. That only one of the other 20 teams. Is going to stick with their current starting quarterback. No chance. That's why it's not the biggest thing in the world. But Adam Schefter is a respected voice. Your job is to make us smarter at the water cooler. Adam Schefter. You have knowledge. You're an insider. You been doing this a while you're influential. You shape opinions, You got a bunch of dollars walking into the break room at the water cooler and an acceptable social distance. Telling their co workers that At least 19 teams are going to change quarterbacks this year. Anybody with half a brain, then looks them. It says, Really, let's go through the teams. And that's when Jenkins or whoever the co worker of yours is at the water cooler. Says he'll crap. I didn't do this. I was just listening to Adam Schefter. He said it on his Twitter. It's got to be true. So I just named 12 teams that are not changing quarterbacks. These Air Pro Bowl multiple time playoff or in the case of Justin Herbert, a rookie of the year, there's former MVP's on that list. 12 teams. Sure things all right, So the other teams I'm going to guess that among Ben Rafa's Burger Baker Mayfield Derek Carr, Dak Prescott, Daniel.

"Let's continue with a conversation. You want to continue with your last question or discussion or you want to move on. Coach. I want to clear flock clarify a contract status for Jared Goff because I think it opens the door for discussions for for several of their players this year. His base is going to be $25,325,000. With a 2.5 roster bonus breakdown with the cap information of $27,825,000. He's midway through this contract, the salary drops to 10 million In 22, then goes up to 20 million in 23. So you know he's at midpoint off this contract. Four years 134 million, and we do know that the Rams made that move to be able to bring in a quarterback for new discussion, but also get that contract away from them, and they're still gonna be working on it. With lions. And of course, those numbers will add up in congratulations to Ryan's holder, and Bruce told her there the nephews of your great friend Ted Tollner, who are now in the agent business, but raises a question. What about Sam Darnel? The former USC quarterback was now in New York jet. How do you think that's gonna work out? And what does this say? About the position when you have AH, Player of the age of Tom Brady in the Super Bowl at 43 years of age. Well, I don't know what it says, except his phenomenal Tom Brady and the way he's been able to survive and protect himself and maintained conditioning and You know he's not a party or he's a He's a guy that worries about the game year around and take care of himself and family man. The whole package. And I'm not saying Sam Donaldson, either. But Sam Donald's been in a position where he's gotten hit more than normally. Ah Ah, Boxer might not fight as far as trying to pry become protected and Past the football and you know, personally between you and I, with a new coaching staff there and so on, and for the best interest of Sam Darnell's I'd like to see him move on. I'd like to see him get a good new position somewhere because I think he can play I watching, played us CSR and make many big great plays. I saw him win the Rose Bowl game by some of the place he made there. Ran around. He threw the football well, he played hurt. It's just a tough guy and a good winner. I think it's maybe a time for him to have a new home and a place for him to have a new start. And it might be good for the Jets, too. Babel have a new start to be able to have a new quarterback sold on the Jets. I would try to find a place for Sam Donald and the fire was Sam Donald. I want to get out of an expensive city right now and get somewhere where I can concentrate on football and I think he has a great career in front of him and go somewhere where he can really be respected and played. I don't know. I don't know where that might be. It could be the Washington Redskins. It could be a lot of places. But I'd like to see him going to start. I'd like to see him, I think is a heck of a player, and I think I'd be good for both. I think I'd be good for the Jets, and I think I'd be good for Sam Donald. So I don't know if that's gonna happen or not not saying that he couldn't play there and went for them. I just think that he needs a new location and he's a fresh start, and it needs a team that can give him support as far as on the offensive line. Coach. We're talking USC football and right now for this game coming up, Ah, week in one day if you will. Super Bowl 55 Ronald Jones, the USC tailback out of McKinsey, Texas. McKinney, Texas. 5 11 208. He was picked in the second round number 38 on the board had AH good career. USC did not have the type of of wraps if you will, probably a little bit fresher coming into the league. Your feelings about that. Only one player. Of course that s he could talk about for the Super Bowl. They've had players and about 40 plus Super bowls. Ronald Jones your feelings. You see him splitting the carries with Leonard for net. Give me your insights on Ronald Jones. Well, I really do. I really think that both created almost like lightning and thunder. If you remember when wrong when, uh, when Reggie Bush was their land and white was there it was. You got a real powerful type of running back and you gotta slick. Speedy type of back and Jones. I want to congratulate him toe for making this. It will be a part of his career that will never forget. When he goes back to USC and his other schools, people. The first thing they'll ask him is what was it like and He deserves it all. I think a lot of times the back, said USC over the last couple of years have learned reverse assed far as how to become a great running back. You're basically How did they current systems that are being run? Now? You're not utilized as much as a running back. You'd like s'mores, a pass blocker and a checkoff guy as far as the passing type of offense. So they get back into the NFL, and they've learned how to pass block and now they got to get back into what their God given Ah ability and that's Ah, you know, read the play and read the whole and then make the break and dart through there and get his many yards as possible and Get as many yards as you can't after the hit, and I think he's had a great job, and I want to congratulate him for getting to the Super Bowl. Everyone can't get their check. Was there so much talent now out there in the college ranks and the NFL? It's unbelievable. If you watch the Senior Bowl practice of the Senior Bowl game today, or if you watch the introduction of the team's playing in the Super Bowl, you hear about so many players when they say where they're from. We're from mid American conference is the Mountain West Conference..

"You know the likelihood If they don't get Watson, which I think again probably isn't what's going to happen? You know, I don't know what's taking place right now in New York with the Jets and Sam Darnell's Let's say that they're unable to trade for a veteran quarterback. I would say the most likely scenario immediately would be you draft a quarterback very high as high as you can. Okay. And then you know, Nick Foles is gonna make $4 million next year. That's it. He takes up six million cap space. I know people are rolling their eyes right now is to bring up Nicole, but I mean that would be like a backup slash bridge quarterback. And then you try to find Great quarterback. If that's possible. I think that's probably right now what you would be looking at as sort of the baseline, but they're going to try to go above and beyond that, as they should. It's just you can want something all you want. It takes the other team to make that happen. But also, guys listen, there could be situations right now around the league quarterback. We're not privy to, you know, and that's their job. Now they have to exhaust Every avenue to get better. The status quo is not good enough, so there will certainly be at least one new quarterback of a starting caliber and then for insurance purposes. Because the numbers so low having Nick Foles around next year might not be out of the realm of possibilities. As we let you go on to thoughts one. What do you think of Josh McCown interviewing for the Texans job and then give us your winners for the weekend? Okay, so I see. A lot of people are upset about Josh McCown interviewing. I am off a strong belief that, of course. Someone like Eric. The enemy should have been hired two years ago, and it's just It's so unfortunate and it's just it's unfair. It's not right that he doesn't have a job. You know, just account is just someone that I think one day what would project to be a coach in this league? Maybe even a head coach in the NFL, So I don't think there's any harm in interviewing him. Especially since you're looking to calm the waters. You know, he seemed I'm sure he probably isn't too strong Watson's first choice if they want to keep him, But I guarantee you he wouldn't be someone that the quarterback would object to strenuously. I don't Jim Caldwell's another good choice to interview You did an excellent job in Detroit and kind of got screwed over there. You saw how bad Patricia Woz they really downgraded when they went from Caldwell to Patricia. So I understand the interview. My guess is they will hire him. I'm not up in arms. He was interviewed, but, yeah, I mean, I I believe that there certainly are more qualified candidate out there that I've been waiting their turn that should get a strong look before Josh account and My Super Bowl. The one I'm rooting course I want to see the chief and I do want to see the Packers. To me. That would be the best match up on the field Super Bowl Sunday. How are we having a virtual party? Your house? Is there going to be a zoom call that we could all get on the pretend we're at your house for Super Bowl party to share that That would be a lot of wind or a natsume call that that would be the mascot that I think's gonna happen. That's where the massive that I want to stay. Pretty great stuff. Thanks for coming on on such short notice. We appreciate it. If you have a great weekend, guys, nobody here. There you go. So we wanted to have J. Dionne to talk about Sean decide There's something really good from the athletic article. It says after going to be BU. On the pre med track. The side got his Masters of Columbia University and for a paper, So who's writing a paper he shadowed the football team. He got his doctorate, a temple, where he volunteered with the football team and eventually became a gratis assistant when veteran offensive coordinator George Daley own a task them with helping Get the team out of a dire academic situation. Then he continued to follow football. He met with the Bears of the Senior Bowl in 13. And he was hired as the quality control guy. And then now, after lots of years of hard work, he's the Bears defensive coordinator. Pretty cool story. Pretty cool story. Josh, who has had a very good career and then is getting a head coaching interview, right now Different path. Desai. Also his parents immigrated from India in the 19 sixties. He is believed to be The first Indian American coordinator in the National Football League, So that's really cool as well. Sean decide your new Bears defensive coordinator. We lost a great one. "Football to talk with our NFL insider extraordinaire Dan Graziano, who joins me on the Goodyear hotline. Hello again, Dan Graziano. Hello Greedy. How are you? I'm good in the last hour and a half before we get yes. We were together on Get up this morning, and here we are Reunited. Let's before we get into any of the moves around the sport. You made it clear on the show this morning. How much you as a reporter appreciated and admired Philip Rivers. Give folks a thought on that is again Philip Rivers announces his retirement today. Oh, yeah, just just super generous with his time and insight. I mean the story I'd like I want to do a feature on him in training camp on like the trash talking quarterback. We never swears and what he says. Instead, we got three features out of that one interview with rivers because he was so forthcoming about so many different topics. So I appreciate that is obviously somebody, uh Help me do my job better, But I also think it reflects the kind of a little bit of who he is because you know, you always saw the passion and heard the passion he had for the game for his team for his teammates. I mean, just somebody who I think not just physically but emotionally. Gave everything of himself every day in his job, and I think that's that's admirable in any profession, But certainly when you talk about high level athletics, you see it on display, and it's always nice. I agree. I think passion is the right word. Meantime, it opens up the quarterbacking job in Indianapolis. And I think if I were recorded back with options that would be a very attractive place to go for a lot of reasons you're playing in a dome. Of the quarterback, friendly head coach of a really good offensive line. What should we start thinking about with regard to their future quarterback? Well, I think that's the right. Starting point is that the culture will perceive themselves accurately as an attractive spot for a quarterback as they did a year ago when they end up signing rivers, so they'll look at their options and they're gonna be some interesting ones. I'm personally curious to see what Detroit does with massive Stafford. I think he's a guy that could be available this this off season and might be this year's rivers for Indianapolis right, like they put him in a veteran and knows what he's doing, and and that could work. You know, now there's there's a range of people will connect Carson Wednesday because Frank Wright connection, but I don't think at this point the Eagles they're looking to move on from whence I think they want to try and get him fixed and get him back to where he was. So I'd be surprised the Niners move on from Jimmy Garoppolo. That's an interesting guy there, you know, Jacoby Percent the free agent Indian in Indianapolis. They really like that guy. They liked him as a backup that he was a starter last year. I mean, I don't know where they stand in terms of their opinion on him, but He's an option Can Noone's looking for a job genius was s so there are a lot of possibilities on ways for them to go with the Jets. Get the quarterback at number two Sam Darnell's available, so I think they're the Colts have a lot of options available to them, which is how they like it. And I think whatever quit for young quarterback winds up in Indianapolis that could be like Donald. That would be a great thing to happen to. Same only in playing for Frank, right with that offensive line on pretty good weapons. What? Especially their standing? Yeah. Great running game. You're right. 100%, right? That is a very attractive spot for a quarterback. It's Dan Graziano with the breaking move. Breaking moves is brought to you by Lincoln Jobs. Build your winning team today go to Lincoln dot com slash sport. But of course, Dan, All eyes are on to Shawn Watson. What is the latest there is we try and figure out what his future is going to be. Well, I think you know the Texas have to get a coach hired and obviously there hope is that once they get that done, that the situation has a chance to kind of simmer down. Now you talk to people around Watson. They're skeptical that will But if you talk to people in Houston, there's you know, Look, it is a long way to go. Here s O Houston isn't gonna want to trade him. Even if he wants out. The question then becomes. How far is he willing to take it? You're going to sit out games. Etcetera, so they have to hash all that out. But there are teams calling because they know that the situation is ugly. Right now. Houston hasn't been entertaining ideas, but there's a lot of people around the league. Certainly in a lot of people close to do, Shawn. Who think that eventually they'll have to. And so we'll wait and see that obviously could wind up being about his bigger movies has ever been made in NFL history. One more What is the latest on the rest of the coaching search is out there that I see News out of Detroit today. The Detroit making it official today with Dan Campbell, the Saints tight ends coach. Remember He was the interim head coach in Miami. A few years back, you know, got a lot of attention for his fired up press conferences and all this stuff, so he's back of the head coach. On then two openings left Philadelphia and Houston. We've talked about Houston. They talked Eric the enemy. They talkto a couple of former head coaches, FL head coaches Leslie Frazier and Jim Caldwell. So couple of possible ways they could go there and Phillies interviewing half the world. You know, a couple days ago, they talk Tomo Josh McDaniels. I think he's still in some ways should be considered a favorite, although I don't think they're all the way sold, but they're talking to a number of other people, including Dennis Allen, the Saints. The defensive coordinator today. He's a former head coach of the Raiders. Philadelphia trying to cast a really wide next year, and so that makes the timetable or cloudy on when they'll settle on something. But their owner, Jeffrey Lori, said last week that Didn't care if they were the last team to hire coach. You just want to get right. So they could take a little while, Okay? And and then, just a sort of is a final thought we do have the two opening still available. You talk about this some on television with us this morning. There is a lot of concern about the lack of minority hiring for this cycle and how that has continued to be a significant problem. What are people you're talking to saying to you? Yeah. I mean, the league really spent a lot of time and energy and public comment on this this offseason, improving this situation and So far, One minority candidate has been hired the head coach as Robert Sala, with the jet skis of Lebanese descent. No African Americans hired you mentioned there's still two spots. I know the guys we talked about in Houston, where all fit that category. I know Todd Bowles is the candidate still in Philadelphia. So it's possible that that kind of saves the day from that standpoint, and there were two African American G. M's hired in Atlanta and Detroit. So that's progress there. But at this point if it stays like this, the league is going into another off season where it's going to be confronted with these questions. Why aren't more minority candidates getting these opportunities? And quite frankly, the extent to which they made it a priority last offseason. I'm just not sure how much further they can go with it, and it's obviously something that bothers them and if they need to get handled Dan Graziano with the very latest during a really busy time in the NFL. Thank you, Danny. I will see you limit it later. It's Graziano, who is terrific with us in the mornings on TV. Hey, Wanna make sure you're aware economy? "C. Jackson interception of Sam Darnell's That is the ninth interception for J. C. Jackson. So far this season. He has played very, very well. And Cam Newton hit Devon on CSC, The rookie tired and out of U C L. A. He went into this game today with no receptions always got to receptions and a touchdown in this game, and the bottom line is with 13 50 to go here in the game. It's the Patriots leading the Jets, 21 to 14 Rich. It's a very tight one Admit Life Stadium where the Giants have a slim lead over the Cowboys. Let's check in with Mike Mancuso. Giants lead 20 to 16 1 23 remaining in the fourth quarter. Dallas has the ball 2nd and 10 on the Giants 24 Yard line. Andy Dalton Engineering. A real nice drive is he now scrambles and slides across the 10 yard line for a first down for the Cowboys. Now this giant lead at 1.20 to 9 actually was 20. Six. There was a miss the extra point by Graham, you know, And that's the reason the Giants have 20. But the Cowboys taking advantage of a Daniel Jones interception that was actually off the hands of tight and Evan Ingram, who has had another tough day with a couple of dropped passes. The Giants Pro Bowl tight end and Dalton engineered a nice drive in Zeke Elliott had a one yard touchdown run. Now. The Giants on their next possession, had the punt and now Dalton bringing the Cowboys right back, and there's an injured player on the field for the Cowboys, So we'll get it up there on that. But right now, the Cowboys Trailing by four points 20 to 16. They have the ball 1st and 10 on the 11 yard line. It and enriched Giants defense has been playing downhill here in the third quarter. We'll see if they can hold on and maybe keep the Cowboys out of the end zone. But at this point, it's 20 to 16. They lead 1 10 remaining here in the third quarter. All right, let's head to Tom Maicon's in the Tampa Bay, where it started out as a pretty easy day for the Buccaneers. Not so much anymore, some well midway through the second quarter, but the Buccaneers the Bills of 20 to 3 lead over the Atlanta Falcons. That is not the case. Right now they're holding onto a slim 23 2 20 leaders. The Falcons have come back strong here in the third quarter 19 yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Russell gauge the 21 yard field goal from Yung Wei Qiu. Brought them back to a 23 to 20 margin. However, the Buccaneers have driven the ball down into the red zone almost of the red zone there 27 yard line with the second intent at this point. So the Tampa Bay Buccaneers intent on getting some points back up on that board. We thought maybe we'd see Tom Brady for a half and then Blaine Gabbert might run the scene for the second half. That has not been the case. Brady has been in there the entire time, and the scoreboard tells the story as to why that is Antonio Brown has had a lot of catches here in the second half, and he can't There's another one takes it down inside the five yard line, so Tampa Bay getting close to a score 11 49 to play in the fourth quarter at this point a to the score at the moment. Tampa Bay 23 Atlanta 20. The route is on in Cincinnati, where we check in with Jason Erhard. Yes. 72 Yard touchdown run by JK Dobbin Since we last spoke, has made it 38 3. The Ravens ended the third quarter with 350 yards rushing as a team. They racked up a few more sense than they're approaching about 3 80. I'm looking it up rich. I believe the all time record for 23 a game so we might see some history here was still about 12 minutes to go in the ball game of the Ravens can run a few more yards here. Lamar Jackson is out of the game. Tyler Huntley is expected in a quarterback here for the Ravens is we're just winding the clock out Bangles, probably wishing they could hop down to the last 12 minutes of the season here, but Play out the string 38 3 Ravens 11 minutes to go from Paul Brown Stadium. What a homecoming. I guess if you will for JK Dobbins, Jason, five touchdowns the last five games on two more today, including that 72 yard run. Yeah, And he probably endeared himself to some of the locals who go for the Ohio State Buckeyes around here. Did the O h i o thing when he was in the end zone. So yeah, I guess sort of a homecoming 100 miles from Columbus. But, yeah, he's had a big game. And what that Ravens rushing attack and be tough to stop in the playoffs. Yeah. 13 for 1 60 Today. Lamar Jackson is over 1000 yards for the second straight year. It has been all Baltimore today. Thank you very much. Jason Erhard in Cincinnati, where Dobbins says. Clearly become the number one running back for the Baltimore Ravens. With Mark Ingram heading to the bench, the 40 Niners today in Arizona hosting the Seahawks and the Seahawks already playoff found trying for playoff seeding and checking in his Riley Young Ryan, How are you? Hey, pretty good rich. How about yourself doing just great. This has been a very rough year for the defending conference champs and roll end today, and I would assume it just can't come soon enough for Kyle Shanahan and company given all of what they went through me. You look at all the injuries they had the season started with back to back games on the East Coast in weeks two and three and now ends today, just trying to figure out where they're going to go next year. No, no, absolutely. I mean, I'm sure nobody thought But that just goes to show you how crazy 2020 was that these guys had to play their home games in Glendale, Arizona, of all places, and you've only had one true home win their one and six. A zoo home record entering the final game of the season. And, of course, more than half of these games being played in Arizona, which, of course, provides no home field advantage for them whatsoever. I just think you know, I gotta give him credit, though. I mean, they've hung in there tough if you think about it. One and six at home. So if they had just a few more wins, I mean, this is a team. Probably that's in playoff contention. All right on the bubble. Absolutely. Um, you know the way things have gone..
