Jaycee Horn's Rise to the NFL
"We'll do some people thought that the panthers maybe should have taken a quarterback specifically justin fields with number eight pick. What is matt rule said about his decision to go with jesse horn. What does he like about this guy. One thing he did say as like jaycee lived this like he knows what it takes to be successful in the nfl. Because he saw his dad he lived at his dad was. Nfl player. great nfl player. he's grown up with it. His whole life play at the highest level. He's got thirty three inch charms. He's six one. Whatever he is ran for three jumped forty two inches. I mean he's a. He's a rare physical specimen who also has the pedigree that's hard to find. He loves jc horn. He loves the physical nature cockiness and the size the speed to match up with all the big receivers in this division but it also tells us something about what the panthers feel about. Sam darnold over justin fields. Right i mean darnold is a guy when they traded for him. They talked a lot about this like he could almost be in this draft from an age standpoint. He's only twenty. Three darnold turns twenty four june. He's younger than joe burrow. Who of course was in last year's draft but it's a risk and if just enfield's goes on to be an all pro guy and chicago and the bears answer quarterback. History will not look upon this panthers decision favorably again. Nothing to do j. c. more about darnold versus justin fields.

Las Vegas Raiders Draft Alex Leatherwood
"It's heidi here with sam gordon and we're gonna get into what happened. Here with the raiders at number seventeen in the nfl draft. Sam alex leatherwood offensive linemen from alabama selected. Seventeen for the. Las vegas raiders. What was your initial reaction. Because i know heidi first and foremost great to be here. I had a great time in cleveland. So far it's been a heck of an experience. Glad you're here With said In terms of your question definitely surprised right definitely surprised Not surprising right tackle. i Continued to voice leading up to the draft. I thought right tackle away to go was an obvious. Need in the offense of line of ministry of this team despite its it's consistent struggles. Last year's the offensive line was a pretty reliable unit and lot of turnover tram. Browns gone just going to be some reshuffling move out gave jackson you move out and you knew there was going to have to be some adjustments made and there was a glaring hole the right tackle and they went with right tackle so i they feel the need but just now player. I thought they'd fill that need with and you look at how the board was shaking out. Thought christian dare saw. I was going to be big especially considering what his grade was. And and and where. The raiders were picking. He wasn't now that said just because alex leatherwood is a surprise and we didn't expect him to be there doesn't mean he won't be a good player but it feels like more often than not the raiders. Under jon gruden. Mike mayock have reached for players that they could have gotten later and are maximizing the value of their first round picks damon are net in twenty twenty was a good example. That and even cleveland farrell. Who's a very good player by the way in the top five and twenty nineteen so a couple so with that in mind. I think alex leatherwood at trend. But the jury's still out on how good he's going to be i think he has a lot of potential beauge player was an all american big-time film comes from a big time program and he's gonna get his opportunity to prove mike. Megan jon gruden ryan look. I want to be optimistic about this. But i think there were other guys that were on the board. That had a lot of potential. And the raiders did go out here and they went out on a limb
Vanity Sizing and the Justin Bieber Effect
"What's been in the news this week and as soon as i saw what my friend sam talk to attack me. And thank you sam. And i sent laura. This is what we've got to talk about this week because yet again boo. Who are in the news and getting the blame for some thing. That might not be careful. It's away from sustainability to this week. It's actually around pricing so boo hoo fade in the news as a customer schumer's picked up on the fact that they have the same product at two of their brands with different prices. So a customer find a coat that was on coast for a higher price but was also in darfur perkins for eight low prices. Thirty four pounds more coast than it was a kyko. Things happened as someone that is worked in the fashion industry previously. I used to work for a band called love a small kind of a fast. Fashion brand died in london. And what. I say it was small. It wasn't born in terms of things that that it was quite a small head office so our work in their showroom as pr and social media person booked could also see the things that were going on wholesale and orders and the factories that they doubt with darby lay. It was kind of a very small close knit company in the fact that you knew everything about what was going on it was either so first of all. I just think that the major again it goes back to the major. Just wanna jump on it. I'm going to call this the justin bieber fact because this is exactly what happens and i always go back to this example. Where the major car. How but pick on one particular person. I love justin bieber or half. Always yes. I'm a complete loser but i'm proud of being that loser but it was just a point where justin bieber did everything wrong. And that's what comes with being in the limelight and in the media. And i get that put the just love it. What say cop took words. That is it. The press will not leave that person or brand

"Everything's just right. I was like wow. I couldn't believe at one point. I borderline felt lake. He started with living for the city event. Somehow like root the film around that because i think he did. That's exactly what i think. he did. A man i thinking. I think he started with the song and he built a scene from that was. That's how it works and dress. Okay yeah because this is so unusual to and again living for the city's like six minutes long. But i just wondered how with editing is concerned. Like how is he like as the timing has to be perfect because literally for that haven't seen the film There's a scene where Flipper purify play by wesley. Snipes has to confront his brother for stealing The tv yeah. Sam jackson Playing a crackhead. His old cricket butter brother flipper data gathering data. From matter of fact. I believe that cons had to invent a category just so that sam jackson could when a best supporting actor. They didn't have a supporting seen. So basically what happens is wesley. Snipes starts at one point in harlem Does a real time walk. What seems to be four blocks or whatever To a crack house a cracked in Of which once he gets there you know especially for ninety one when people were still have their heads in the sand over the crack epidemic to visually see that shot. I'm so i'm really shocked. We didn't even ask spike about the scene when he was on the show. I forgot but does it. Pause in the middle when when when leslie has the conversation char- charlie charlie. Okay okay. no even still going is still growing right so i guess what i wanted to do. They do. They have to choreograph that. Wow in terms or was that just great editing. Because as far as i know wesley snipes starts. Four blocks ahead walks to the taj mahal. Four blocks later confronts halle berry and sam jackson and you know of course this has to work in coordination with the song and stop at talk child. So that's what i'm saying. I think i think spike played track buying was shooting as the okay because it almost works so perky cut it. I couldn't believe how are worked. It worked so well right. Yeah that to me is like one of his. If i don't know and again i don't know timing wise if it still could work in twenty twenty one agam all the time like why. Why why is this the only film of yours. That's not available for screening. We say i don't know at i you know and it's weird i've i've i've done some. I've read a few blogs or whatever and they'll try to say like well you know. This is his only film. That wasn't as timely. Or you know that sort of thing like it it. It didn't age well or that sort of. I don't know but just he's shrug about it but for me..
Millions of Americans Are Missing Their Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine
"The johnson and johnson co vaccine became more widely available today but there are many people willing to take it and across the country growing signs of hesitancy to take any vaccine at all in some areas that means fewer people are signing up for a shot where there is plenty of supply contrast all that with the increasing cova crisis in india where they desperately need more treatments and vaccines the world health organization now calling on countries with excess to send it there. We'll have a report from overseas in just a moment. But we begin with sam brock in miami on florida's first full day of johnson johnson reentering the vaccine marketplace many took a pass. Baker Mayfield’s Contract With Cleveland Browns Extended Through 2022
"The Cleveland Browns picked up the fifth year option for Baker Mayfield. Guaranteed at least two more seasons of the man, maybe more. He gets that contract extension and he's eligible for He was selected number one overall in the draft. That included Sam Donald two spots after him, Sam Donald looking for a new start right now, with Carolina Panthers. You can also take a look at Josh Allen selected at seventh overall, he played at an M V p level last year. And then someone who did when the M V P And has a regular season record. This is just ridiculous. I think the record might be 30 and seven Is Lamar Jackson. Baker Mayfield is to do that's just like you would select the number one. How come the other two guys had better careers or better starts than you? Baker did throw 27 touchdowns that rookie year. He did regressing year too. He did light it up last year. Think Baker is the man. I think he is the long term answer. The Cleveland Browns. I think he is able to turn things around, especially with all of the talent that he has around him because he doesn't have to do it

Oh that's amazing. So that's that now the book there's a new house called the substance of all things which just came out a couple of months ago and it is my first fiction it's literary fiction as opposed to my number look at you like you're the hardest working man in covid. I'm trying so hard. Now it just incidental. Because i took me four years to write that book not daily of course but it's a process. Yeah and it's basically in short. It's about this boy. Twelve years old in rural oklahoma in the sixties who discovers that has the gift to heal through his hands and his hands are disfigured from a car accident that killed his. Ma and the book is in two times. One is young. Theo and the other is adult. The oh therapist through very very very broken woman in his therapy. He's able to look back at his own life but this woman is so dear to me and she had a really really rough childhood and it was very important me because i'm writing out major female character to get this right and to find her. Her realness her humanity to make our complicated. The comments that i've had because the reviews have really been sensational. Very fantastic reviews are fantastic. Name right women size as we have reached out and said thank you so much for not. Just you know doing the cliche things you know. When you get rid of your wake you'll be able to deal emotionally. And all this pat bullshit and representing them as human beings that this happens to be a part of them and also from women who have had a abuse as a child because i didn't make her a typical victim. Who's like all of this happened in this horrible thing and you know which is true which is true. Yup it may. I made it complicated for her. So to hear from women that i might i did it. Right is again but you guys are the things whereas we're talking about always getting tiered up again. You really important to me to get that right. Because i'm a man. I need to get it right. But i'm sure it's very validating and you have a lot of passion. It's so clear how passionate you are about it about everything. I love it but every i am passionate. I think it's you know on those spring chicken children stop. i think that's why. I continue to create and write and perform and saying and is because i'm always curious and i always i have to find passion or i'm really screwed and right now you know. I should be starting another book. I'm so exhausted from the first one. Take a minute take effect. Sam thank you so much for sharing your story. There was so wonderful. I love you guys. And i get a phone call from the baby sitter and they were going to the park and she said to anderson hit by car and i literally just said why because i was just like. That's not you're kidding along. Has it been since. Maxine was hit september six months. Oh wow i was telling. Everybody was like two months ago. 'cause oh no no feels like it because it has been a lot. She had a lot to go through to like. I mean her legs. She still has a little bit of a limp. I mean that will sort itself out but just you know an emotionally. She still struggles with crossing the streets and she's nervous and outside but like this is so this retraumatize the whole house. He's fine basically. The guy came around the corner. Henry was in the walk with the he had the walk light and fortunately the babysitter yanked him. She saw the car like speeding through the intersection. So it just of grease to shoulder and then he smacked his head on the concrete and then the car basically drove off he stopped him was like i didn't see him and then he took. How do you not stop it when you see it. isn't that rice you just. I mean it doesn't matter but like something could have really been wrong. I mean. I think he did stand up but regardless. That doesn't mean something's not wrong. That's it's against the law. I mean i've been like furious about also. He was not the right away. Henry had the right away. Henry was processing on the light. It's not okay. There needs to be better driving education in this country. That's yeah. I think. I can't believe took him to like an urgent care and they were like we don't have imaging and they're like do go to like an ambulance and he seemed okay so i was like oh my god please. And he was screaming like i don't wanna go on an ambulance. I was just like. Oh god. So i just took up to the pediatrician. And they were like everything was okay. And they didn't think he had a concussion too badly or anything they tolls watch out for. But after i got back from the thing. I just sat down on my shoulders dropped and i was still trying to make the livestream happening. I was texting. Joe me explain to you guys. And we have our live streams at four. pm. Get a text from rob. I was about to get in the shower because we don't shower unless we have the livestream finally did all my work. I was ready to get in the shower at three ten. I get a text from robin. I might not be able to make it to the livestream. Henry just got hit by a car. I'm like what what do you mean you might not. And then it was like literally thirty minutes of you. Kind of dithering. I'm going to try to make it. I'm going to try to do it hopes. Finally i said. I think we should just can't but that's just so me i was just like i have a responsibility to do this. And then it was like and then it was like as i was sitting there after. I said let's not do it. I was just staring off into space. Because i was definitely very retraumatize. There was. I feel like with cova going on. We have so little right now. You can't go many places you can't do much and walking on the streets. If we take away. I feel like it was. Your safety is a perceived thing. Anyway right whether you're whether you're safer not is really up to the universe or whoever's running things and so i just felt like i lost the perceived sixty again in just started getting it back and i was just working toward trying to get maxine to be able to walk to middle school by herself. It just was like this is crap but you know what's interesting though is like i got two kids who really know how to talk about their feelings and maxine head like. Rt reached out to like three different like her school. Counselor her therapist. I told the teacher that maybe they wouldn't be the best time for the assessments. I've rescheduled that for next week. Fully realized end and like how wonderful kind of flow to them The writing is so sharp and Funny I. Just I, Love Sex in the city I don't I don't know what else to say beyond that other. "But if someone in the audience has of a Ferrari F f and they want to sell to me for sixty cents on the dollar. Let's talk. Okay. Great. Okay. Sam. Sam harris. Austin fact, chided dizzy, I mean, I guess we'll tell our listeners like we could we could talk for seven hours on in. This fact, check about stuff that was sad. And I'm not gonna do that. I picked a few things that we can talk about that. I thought maybe needed saying after listening. There's a lot of may be could be considered controversial opinions, and I'm not going to pick apart every single one. Okay. So. Okay. Well, I you said four out of five guests of ours. We site Sam exaggeration. I didn't luck. Yeah. That's an exaggerating is probably an exaggeration at the beginning. Yes. Tapered off a little bit. Because we've we also heard about all these people. But what's interesting is even when I'm not actually saying Sam, but I'm talking about something. Paul bloom wrote about empathy or I'm talking about something Brett Weinstein said or on talking about even Yuval Harari, they came from his podcast. So even if I don't say Sam, and I just go do you heard this, Paul bloom thing, really, I'm talking, you know, I got that from SAM's cast. That is true. Okay. So he mentioned honor killings, and he said. I don't actually know what he said the percentage was or maybe just a high percentage of Islam believes that we that honor killings are okay. And the Washington Post in pew in two thousand thirteen did a survey and in fourteen of the twenty three countries where the question was asked at least half say honor killings are never justified when a woman stands accused similarly at least half in fifteen of twenty three countries. Say honor killings of accused men are never justified in only two countries Afghantistan in Iraq. Do majorities say honor killings of women are often or sometimes justified. But you know, it's interesting is it almost declares your your position on this topic. Even the way that was just said, which is to say they found that half of people don't believe in honor killings. You could also then say half of people believe. In honor killings, which is very dressed of it though. That's what it's saying into it. It's pointing out the countries in which the majority does. But even even if half of population believes that that's very troubling of a country. Yeah. It is. These are also like well, my take away from this. When I looked at the whole last with. Yeah. The country's the more modern countries have have small number that really troubled war ridden countries have a high number met to me was clear in looking at that list. That was my takeaway. I mean, it's scary and bad incredibly, I guess, the I think this is what gets frustrating for me in these conversations and probably for other people is and I think it's largely would Sam gets frustrated with. Is. Ee you have to knowledge this large amount of people that have these views. That's just a statistical fact now the more important thing that no one ever gets to. It's like the left wants to deny the less. Big messages will the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and wonderful, and that's true. Absolutely. But then you read stuff like this, and you have to acknowledge a pretty good hefty amount of people do believe in honor killings. That's troubling. That's that's a big concern..
