Week picked up from paul fee in one of the post. Love life episode a discussion chunks and he says when he writes he thinks about what george bernard. Shaw the great player. Who wrote pygmalion said he said all men meanwhile and he writes his character not perspective that all men meanwhile and i think that is a good baseline to kind of understand the world from every time you see someone making a mistake like they're actually trying to make things better without mistake and it kinda if you come at them from that place of good faith you can kind of reach resolution quicker. I think tell you. What's your favorite will. Be forgotten after i forgetting after is His italian chop nice to do my friends year. Getting after it is from the film. Remember the titans. It comes from a pivotal scene in the film where it's the first integrated football team racially in the state of virginia. I think it's tc williams. And the both sides have great cynicism towards one another the white players black players can't get along and then the best player from the white side goes up to the best guy of the black dudes julius and he talked to him about his lack of effort in practice and he says hey man you giving no effort. That's the worst attitude i've ever seen. And then julius tells them. Hey you're white guys aren't playing hard for their black quarterbacks. So why am i gonna play hard. I'm just going to get mine. And then he says attitude reflects leadership. Which really stinks so coach. Boone played by denzel. Washington is leading the players. Figure this out because he knows that they need to bond independent of him forcing it for the team to be strong so then one of the white guys doesn't block for the black quarterback and then prettier gets in his face and he's like what are you going to block for him ray. People blocked from us next play. I'll knock you out so long. You need a new haircut. That fires julius up that is holding. His wife is accountable. Julius lights up the quarterback on the next play number two runs up to him and this is my friends that we forget he goes. Ooh julie's really stuck them on. Joys like yellow contact goes strong side. And julius is scared in this summer. He doesn't know if he can trust enough to on this moment but he looks into his eyes and he sees that the kid and then he goes lifts. Julius goes left side and they go strong side left side. That's awesome. We forget after strong side left side. That's the hundred that we need a great flick. You'd movie yeah all right dude. "Usually if i'm not like if there's no other stimuli i'll just i'll just be like overthinking step so for me it's a little harder to slow down you know. I like to try. But but it's it's hard. I think especially with making a show and stuff. There's always something to think about. Not something to be improving or working on something or fixing right. How do you. How do you relax when you get up to You know. I just like hang. My wife specially in quarantine. It's like we just you know we're going together. Will you know go on little. Like road trips. Or something but But you know. I don't know i'll be honest. A lot of my time spent either with my wife and and trying to be a real person and trying to relax or you know writing and kind of making and watching stuff like the before sunrise series. Yeah yeah those wants their big for me. Those definitely kind of one of the main things. I was thinking about this show and and trying to hit that that tonal balance but also just like the way they did the real version of it which is obviously way tighter than like the fake version reshoot. It all at once but but you're jumping through time with characters like that. I think it's really awesome. Yeah i've been thinking about that movie. Allegedly i just showed my a new relationship. Now show my girlfriend. The first one engine little more cynical about romance movies which is kind of a fun balance for us. And then i was thinking about the second one about how he writes that book just so potentially meet her again. I totally relate to 'cause. I'm that i'm like no i'll do some crazy and just the hopes they don't pay off like an but then you were just talking about like which is trying to be a normal person reminded me of ethan hawke's character in the third one where he's like. He needs of that letter that he writes. And he's like as someone who's always struggled to be president but he doesn't go that way to me as a character but it's interesting that for him on the interior. Yeah is it hard. Is it hard for you when you're running a show. And you're you're thinking about it like creatively logistically disorderly. Then you're also just gonna go hang out with people and be mellow is right kind of switch it off. I guess definitely yeah. I have a really hard time with that. And i and. I'm trying to find more of a balanced but you know but it's top because it's like when you're really in something you know at least for me like i am always thinking about it and and and as always trying to figure always trying to figure some new thing out. That's it's good to right. Yeah yes but as you know yeah well thank you but you know but it's also like he kinda wanna find the balance of like life and work and all that stuff which i'm trying to are able to like disconnected all like go out with friends or i'm kinda like i have that same thing where i just wanna be working all the time when people were like. Oh let's go hang out. Let's go get dinner. Look like the worst thing on earth right now. Dr. adler rather do us. You're go not no. yeah. I mean. I i try to make it can. It can be i mean. I think it's just you know it just depends on especially in this situation. Where like once the show is up and running. I'm so in it. That i kind of have that as an excuse that i can really myself in nevada the show i like. It was before cova like i. You know three dinners people probably in like you know nine months or something because you're in it And then went to be honest like my time since then it's been in coverted so that's got me off the hook dude in another right right. You got that shred. Stick back surfing at all. Oh man now. I'm now going to be revealed as opposed that. Actually my dad goes two kinds of flea markets and stuff like that and gave that to us just as like a thing to have around now a now. It's just a thing that it's like people have books. They never read in their house. Just oppose anything about that there. we go. I did have a brief as in middle school. Right headed doyle foam board. I tried to serve my dog actually literally eight it or torn apart. Oh wow yeah. That's a good meal for dog. Ten foot ten feet of a pretty good pretty good. Yeah guys. i'm interrupting his pockets. "And tonight, we're out there every way to work for you with a man that well, you know, you're watching him all the time if you watch sporting events, especially football golf baseball where that great great name of natural turf is used John Marmon joins us west coast turf. Vice president of sales and marketing, John I wanna welcome you. And I want to thank you again here on the the beautiful tour. You gave us of your beautiful forums out there in the Indian Wells ratchet Mirage, then everywhere. Hey, coach. I appreciate it. Thank you for having me on and had a great time meeting. You just recently out of the forum. And you're welcome back anytime, John, let's talk a little about how did you get in its first of all your graduate of UC riverside in nineteen ninety five in environmental sciences. And and you and the actually started working with west coast turf in Las Vegas. I did I I very briefly worked in southern California and quickly found myself moving out to Vegas, which I had never imagined doing. But you know, got to know the area very well. And and it was really a boom time there with a lot of golf courses going in what you're doing about seventy year. And and we actually change the. Artificial turf over to Nashville for Sam Boyd stadium during that time with coach Robinson. And it was it was an interesting time. But I I really just kind of fell into my my older sister was already working for west coast her. She knew the owner of west coaster. John Foster through the Bob Hope Classic golf tournaments our bosses very much involved in that tournament's and from there. I had a temporary job out of college. And it just turned into a lifelong deal. I've I've never had a job interview. Well, I know you love what you do. I love coming out there. We were out there with the legacy foundation for the tournament of roses were you yearly do I don't know how many fields at the Rose Bowl poppy three or four fields every year there along with all the other field. And of course, this being Trojan football reports show you're getting ready to put a new field in the Coliseum. We are will be there. A later this summer looks like July. But so the call the CMO sure be beautiful when that projects all complete and I've I've been in and out of there a little bit. And it sure is coming along nicely. And and just seeing the final. You know, look of what it'll look and feel like it. It sure is going to be another impressive southern California stadium. John. Let's talk about the the turf in the Coliseum. First of all he'd have about fifty different varieties of turf that you utilize your different stadiums. That you do you're just about in all of them. We can talk about even the Las Vegas when they knew Oakland raider stadium, which are going to be doing too. But how do you decide like for the Coliseum where the Trojans will be playing their games in the Rams for one more year? How do you go about deciding what type of turf it's going to be that's for the Coliseum and Wendy you start preparing for that. Well, typically when we're doing these types of fields you're going in with a thicker cut surface because they do often go with one two or three fields during the year. And with the way the Coliseum is complete construction and get off the field and were immediately out there and a couple of weeks later, they're playing on. So it's kind of a tight schedule when you're doing thicker cut material you've got to grow at longer. So that's going to be in the field about a year. And it's not necessarily our decision has a lot to do with the grounds keepers that are working on the individual sites, and they kind of get a feel for what they would like. But in a lot of cases, and certainly, you know throughout the southwestern United States Bandera Bermuda thin kind of the go-to because it's just a very aggressive grower. And when you have a lot of traffic such as what we have going on right now with the shared facility with both NFL and collegiate in the same location. There's a lot of wear and tear. So you need something that's gonna have pretty good repairability, and it's gonna bounce back and be fairly resilient to begin with. But really bouncing back and growing back. Once you do where field out, it's very important. And once again, we use that product the Rosebowl as well. And and most other stadiums a lot of baseball Major League Soccer MLS field just throughout professional sports, and collegiate sports, it's kind of the go-to, and we've been very successful with it. But there are many many varieties that have been used over the years for these fields. And we occasionally we'll get to another Brighty. But there there are some items that may have more of a shade issue. And they want something that's gonna handle shade, very, well, or or they've got maybe a water issue, or or, you know, tough growing conditions, and there are so many different varieties that do you have a little intricate areas. Where are you know, they often excel? And so. It's unique to get individuals into a certain graphs, but but this graph is pretty well suited. And so many other situations and we've been very successful with it. John joins us from west coast turf for talking football. Of course, I Joe did football report brought to us by the south point casino in Las Vegas about. I'm Harvey Chuck as Chuck why don't you ask John question to do because you're at the Coliseum every Sunday for the ram games. John great to speak with you tonight. I guess one of the questions I would have because of technology and all the tension on forty ins shoes, and do the shoe companies come out to your facility out in the desert to test the different lengths of cleats that. They use on your beautiful turfs. That's an interesting question. Chuck, and I really wish they did, you know, in a lot of cases with these fields their recommendations made before the game and often any manager will come out guys will come out and do some drills kind of feel out of field. It's often very difficult to get players to move to to a typically they want to use a clean. That's that's that's molded and manufactured at molded, which is a. A more shallow clear leaders lighter and faster for a player, and when a recommendation is made to go to a deeper clean, and and a heavier clean oftentimes players won't take that advice. And and so it's kind of it's one of the things if you have a field that's a little tighter. And it's it's it's playing a little tighter up top where you have a game in the evening where you have to do coming out of the plant. So that surfaces moist then you're going to need a deeper clean, in some cases. It's a three quarter inch or three quarter inch clear. I mean, they they go extremely deep on these cleats. So when you have the field that flick, maybe you have you know, ryegrass overseas or a bluegrass overseas or you do have an evening game. Where you how do coming up out of the plant making that surface wet, you're going to need to change out your equipment? And oftentimes before that game starts the equipment manager. We'll have a discussion with the groundskeeper. And that decision is is. Often, you know put out there, and whether or not the players want to heed that advice, it's not always done. And sometimes after you know, a flip. They choose to go to a deeper Clete that may slow them down a little bit. But it's all up to the players themselves. You're listening to the Trojan football report with Harvey item. Chuck as brought this all by the south point hotel casino in Las Vegas about. John marmot is our guests from west coast turf. Vice president of sales and marketing, I'll tell you. It's very interesting to find out just how all of this happens and actually football season ever goes away. He doesn't have a season either. But these either though in baseball, stadiums golf courses football stadiums. Or does also commercial properties or whatever you need in turf. Most of it's coming out of west coast turf here. Hey, John, let's start when I came out there the other day and looked at your field. You have thousands of acres. It's unbelievable how many farms, and how many acres are you actually farming. Well, you know, we're we're growing at a couple of farms in northern Cal. We have four or five farms in Southern Cal. We've got a couple in Arizona. We're in Scottsdale and toss around and then we've got a farm in La Paz, Mexico with an interesting variety called Seaford pass panel, and platinum T E is the product and product that works very well with with water that's got high sodium. And so in some cases, you're dealing with a slightly brackish water. And and if you want to conserve water conserved pot of water for a growing area, oftentimes golf courses house to look for some other reserves there. And and so we're doing that product down there were there were there a little bit tight on water and water is pretty expensive. And so we we grow quite a number of acres throughout many many areas. And and and with that we get into a lot more cool season grasses up in northern California. And. Back in the day. We used to ship Super Bowl THAAD over to to Miami or to Jacksonville for for Super Bowls, and that's not taking place so much anymore because of the carbon footprints that that you're you're actually, you know. Directly correlating to that. And there are some, you know, better growers there on the east coast now than there once were that can put out a better product. But for a long long time, we're really kind of the go for the NFL and in regards the Super Bowl, we've done eight. And I think the next guy down is done. No more than four. So we've done a lot of them. And and we've got us a very special relationship with a man by the name of George Toma who has been around for a very long time. Georgia's turn ninety he's a great friend of ours. And we've worked together very well with him over the years, but we we were doing some expansion here and there, but for the most part where we're staying in the south west, and we've got some new products now that we're working with as well, we've got a product that we grew for the Super Bowl at Levi stadium where we're growing on top of plastics. So that's a new unique kind of technique. That's. Proprietary to us. Exactly the way that we do it very secretive, and it's it's extremely resilient. So you play three games on on a thought on plastic field than it equals..

"And set lines for these games. He's really delve into this league in in an incredible way. And the league is relying on him. As are the sports books for his research to set a lot of numbers, and he steals now is the time to bet the over on some of these totals because some of the games have been going so low three out of the forest three out of four in the first week went under the total. But he feels it's not long that these totals are going to be set more in the fifties. Whereas now, they're in the forties when they began to league, I agree with Kenny. And when they began the league. It was much. The case of much like hitting being way ahead or pitching being way ahead of hitting in major league baseball in the first week of the season here the same thing when the league formulated the defenses were wait ahead of the offense is that they hadn't been together as a group collectively they only played one exhibition or practice game coming into the regular season here. So it was a major edge to the defense is now they're beginning to know each other the game on each other. And I think I agree with you. I think there's going to be coaches making moves and adjustments and we'll see higher scoring moving forward in these games. One of the interesting things about the af is this week every game will once again be a division game the first opening week week number one. They were all division games last week. They were all non division games. And they're gonna alternate. Going back and forth between division nine division for the first seven weeks in the season here. So you can draw parallels and patterns from that, but the first week as you mentioned, it was all home teams. All favorites. Cashed in those division match ups. But I think it could be a little bit different this week. There you go. The alliance of American football just underway and a fourteen playoff to be capped with the league's championship game right here in Las Vegas. Sam Boyd stadium. That'll be on April the twenty seven th you know, what's really interesting.

"So I know we have raider fans listening and. Look, mike. Coral is not with you as the chief's fan. So I take no pleasure in the nomadic nature of your football team right now. But there is news that has come out today saying that the San Francisco forty Niners who don't play in San Francisco. But they play in their play clothes. Yeah. It's close now. It's not technically San Francisco, I they will not waive their territorial rights to allow the raiders to play in the Giants Stadium. Yeah. Which makes next year? Makes no sense. Because I mean. Essentially, the raiders are moving across the bay. Oakland should be there to San Francisco's territory to is. You're saying, yeah. Like they played theoretically already play in the same territory. You know, obey is a little bit bigger than a lake. So if lake that separated them, then okay? But this is a bay this is separated by a bridge. Yeah. Really? It it seems like the forty Niners shouldn't be able to do that. Especially especially when the forty Niners did reportedly say. You could complain Levi stadium right us. Yeah. So they're okay with the raiders being there. But they want the parking and concessions and all that kind of stuff which I don't think is a wrong move for jed York in the forty Niners to do. Right. But it's just like we know why you're doing this. It's not because you think that the raiders will harsher mellow or whatever on that side of the bay. It's that you can put them in a position where they would have to. Agreed to play at your stadium. And and this whole this whole territorial thing pointed out there moving across the bay. This isn't like when the chargers were thinking about a new home. And services don't even bother right? I think I think that happened. Yeah. I guess they see where the forty Niners are coming from. They're trying to be shrewd business people and make the raiders pay them rant and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. But. It just like I genuinely feel bad for Ray. Because it it just so it's become such a pathetic situation. That you can't find anywhere to play. Because you put the proverbial cart before the horse and said, you're. We're outta here. Suck it we're gone. And then the Oakland was like, but we can tell you to go before you could leave. You know what I mean? So yeah, it's not the fans fault. It's not Derek cars fault. It's John gruden's fault. Mark Davis is fault. And but I still feel like just what a garbage situation for the raiders to be in. So now what? So now, if they're not gonna raise their territorial rights. The raiders ain't gonna be playing in the Giants Stadium. So where do they go? I would say they have three options at this point, either San Diego. San Antonio which they've explored or go to Sam Boyd. Since are moving to Vegas anyway, one of move to Sam Boyd for a year. And the reason why they don't wanna go to Sam Boyd is. Because Sam Boyd is not a good enough stadium is that that's why I've heard from like mountain people that hang out in the mountain west that Sam Boyd stadium isn't a good enough stadium for NFL team the plane, but stubhub center is good enough. Stubhub, cigarette works. No actual football. Same telling you what I have heard. I agree with you. And I'm like, there's no place that's worse than playing in a soccer stadium. I know. Yeah. So so then there's two options San Diego or San Antonio. San antonio. Which was that the raiders are the saints that threatened to move to San Antonio. The raiders because saints played in San Antonio during Katrina. Yeah. Right. And then the raiders will I do we might wanna move down. Well, yeah. It was it happened a couple of years ago when they're they're still kind of in discussions with Oakland about a new stadium or upgrade to a stadium or whatever. And Mark Davis just showed up in San Antonio and got a tour of the Alamo dome. Right. I wasn't trying to do anything there. Right. Right. Just what a bizarre situation for the. Oakland, Raiders, you know, they were once a proud franchise. I don't know if too many of you are old enough to remember when the raiders were actually respectable in not trading away, all their players and not having a home. I don't know they balance between Oakland in L A couple times. Do that. Would. You go. They would probably never do this. Because you mentioned all three of those stadiums. Don't have NFL teams in them. But let's just say that. They didn't have any luck until they got to about Colorado. And then the Broncos said, we'll take you in. Would you go? Would you go watch a raiders game? If they're playing the Brian mile high. No you when he goes see raiders versus panther. No, no chance. You couldn't pay me. See that. See I'm a cheese fan. I might become a season ticket holder. Just because it's like this is unique. Now, I did end the tickets are cheaper. I don't know about the their inter conference games. But if they hosted the raider or the the bears I'd go see that right, obviously every for the bears. And it'd be much bears twice in a season. Because the Broncos are hosting them. I don't know if you saw this coming out of the Super Bowl the other day these second lowest. City. I'm trying to word it correctly. But basically like no one in L A watched like LA was the second lowest rated market or something for the Super Bowl. Wow. I have to double check the exact wording, but does that like the whole game combined or is that? Late just like they're just the Super Bowl ratings. Oh. Allow me to it's still good. But let me correct myself. So I have the right L A had a lower TV rating for the Super Bowl than the country as a whole. So they were below average. Okay. They were below the average. Thing. That shouldn't happen. Yeah. Shouldn't but. Just goes to show. But here's my. I bring that up because there were so hell bent on putting teams in L A. And it's like, nobody cares. And. And soon they'll have Anthony Davis in the Lakers. And then the Rams in charges will be even less relevant. Do you feel like the raiders will be a success in Vegas? Do you think they'll be well attended because the Golden Knights fans are outstanding. Yeah. Hockey team has gotten a full-fledged support. Absolutely. Yeah. And it's been great. Yeah. Do you think that that translates to the raiders I think it can I think again? For sure. Well, that's good news for the raiders. Yeah. I just have my doubts. Just because I don't know what the size of the stadium is right. But. About yea big. Why what do you think eating big, seating wise? About fifty thousand give or take fifty thousand something like that. So no seats perfect. They'll sell out.

"In there. Lakers. The Lakers lost last night to Cleveland Cleveland. What the heck I kept seeing? I saw that Scott. I'm like why is the problem with his Lakers team is day? One of those teams that they they look at the schedule and the opponent and go, oh, it's Cleveland. We can beat these guys. And they don't realize that they're all NBA teams are good or bad. They are and you have to play, and you know, guys like Josh partner having fantastic season to enter coming along. But it's Ingram and Lonzo ball that just aren't bringing it in games when they need to bring it backbone sector to the raiders before I finish up. How cool is it? Now in two thousand nineteen to say raiders are moving here next year. That's awesome. How close at that is awesome. What I'm hearing through the grapevine is there is a chance that even though the raiders won't play at Sam Boyd stadium. There could be one of their two preseason games potentially. Add Sam boy that would be phenomenal. Great now, I'd like to see them play in San Diego. And that's because it's a short little jaunt can fly there in an hour. And not a problem. I'll drive down there at driven demand games. A Qualcomm Jack Moore back in the day. I used to live there in San Diego used to work at Jack Murphy after I got out of the navy stay there. And I remember I was working there in in eighty four the year. The Padres went to the World Series against Detroit and loved watching Dan Fouts and that offense Charlie joiner, John Jefferson, who's the other two. Wes chandler. Go Kellen Winslow. And running back. No. With.

"And there are some other games or that we did very well on the biggest game of the week for sure though was the raiders covering against winning outright against the Steelers cover the second half. There was a ton of money on the Steelers game Steelers second half what? Strange story that Big Ben that the they were having trouble with the x Ray machine in Oakland. Maybe Jon Gruden traded. The starting x Ray machine out. That's why they having problems. I made that joke on sportscenter is very proud of myself. But yet like they couldn't get the x Ray results in time. So Big Ben missed like a quarter to half. And you know, I don't know what that the end of that game was ridiculous that Chris Boswell feel gory slipped on that field and Oakland be you can see why that stadium that stadium needs to be put down, Doug. It's over. Yeah. Is it just let it go. Man. I mean, you can see why the raiders are moving out here to Las Vegas. Well, there's a lawsuit now. So who knows what's going on with the very latest. Yeah. A lot of speculation here where the raiders will play in two thousand nineteen the stadium here in Las Vegas won't be ready until two thousand twenty. There's a lot of talk about where they'll play. I think if I'd bet on one location. I'd probably say San Diego thing makes the most sense, but we'll see we're not gonna get Sam Boyd stadium for a year. I don't think. So man here you've been to Sam Boyd stadium. I'm sure hey, Las Vegas locos won a title there. Yeah. Well, I don't know that they can have NFL games there. But I think San Diego's the is the most likely outcome. Yeah. That would make sense that would make some really strange kinda musical chairs with with the California football teams going on there. So that was big Monday night. I'm very disappointed. I teased it on the bonanza. I did not do it. I kind of forgot to the banana because I had so much invested in my own. And also I gave it out on sportscenter. And my column I thought I'd checked all the boxes but the Seahawks took care of business yet again Kirk cousins struggles and high-profile game against a winning team with a winning record. Yeah. And then they they scapegoated the offense coordinator and fired him yesterday, which I thought was a little silly. But you know, it Minnesota is looks like they're still gonna get into the post season. Just 'cause you've got these other NFC teams falling apart around them. And they look like they'll be favored in each of their last three games. So you guys had that huge bet right from the CFO old us right here on the podcast. Yeah. Two hundred and forty thousand one hundred and twenty thousand on Minnesota to make the playoffs at minus two hundred you guys did. Yes. No of every team so Seattle in the driver's seat for a wildcard bid. And then it's essentially the re teams for one spot. Vikings Panthers eagles, and I guess a Packers maybe four teams. Well, look at the eagles in the Panthers this week. They're both big underdogs. The Redskins are actually at six and seven to. But we don't count them. They don't have any chance. Minnesota a seven point favorite this week. They're going to be favored next week at Detroit, and they should be decent favorite in week seventeen. They play at home against the bears that my guess is by then the bears locked up their playoff seeding, the bears will be the three or the four seed in the NFC playoffs possibility that if the bears are the three seed that they could be looking at playing Minnesota again the following week and wildcard. Game. So you would expect them to sit everybody and show the Minnesota Minnesota's coaching staff nothing and a game. Like that. Minnesota would likely be a big favorite. "You remember those teams was yeah, they had one of those teams got to the Sugar Bowl. I was just about to say Georgia a little trivia question. People often ask me what my biggest bet was. And I've had some middles and things like that. But my biggest bet that I've sweated out was Georgia in a bowl game against Colt. Brennan, hawaii. That was a good one. That was a really those are really good pick. But the Hawaii approval was in my some good collaborative information. Matt humans was very helpful in that collaboration back in the day. So we had about you know, about a month figure that game out and that was a good. That was a good one member aggregation of information. Hawaii had that receiver Ashley Lulea that. I think was a c- on that team. I I just remember him. And I don't know if he was on that Sugar Bowl team. But I remember he was a real standout for those teams. And I think it was a first round pick by the Broncos and the NFL why football used to be really good and they used to play these midnight, Saturday games on the east coast. Now, we get one of those this week. And yes, the public will be all over Utah state, but back in the days I'm talking about. I wasn't living in Vegas then. But I'm pretty sure the public was probably all over Hawaii. Yeah. No doubt. It is a lot of the overs. Love the second half overs. Especially after seeing a high scoring first-half. Let's go back to Mike Leach real quickly member. There is a group in Las Vegas. I really wanted him to be the next head coach of the of the rebels and that never materialized, obviously. But UNLV in some dark days right now. Yeah. They really are. And I think this will probably be Tony Sanchez's last year coaching UNLV. But they've got one thing on the horizon, though that they're going to be moving into the raiders stadium. They're gonna be playing their home games there in the for Tita family is building them a really nice facility. It should help with recruiting because they're, you know, a really nice first class facility playing their home games in a brand new NFL quality stadium. You would think that would draw some recruits UNLV, hopefully for them will. Well, they just lost other state law season. Yeah, they lost the San Jose State by double digits, which is really hard to do. And here they're catching twenty five at home at Sam Boyd stadium. The current home of the rebels Fresno state in town BULLDOGS now ranked Jeff Tedford sneakily great job out there and any any action there on this game is that's another bailout game for them. Meanwhile, I got it right now. But we've got we've almost nothing on this game. But you know, the public is going to be on Fresno state. And you're absolutely right. It's going to be a bailout game seven thirty pm local kickoff for sure the public will be on Fresno state in this game. I think people, you know, people always ask about like how much liability we have on raiders games Lakers games Golden Knights games. The public will quickly turn on a team local team if they're not good, man. Like we needed the raiders big on Sunday. The public was all over the colts. So I think as these new states pop up like New Jersey like right now, I'm sure they need the eagles opponent every week. Well, when the eagles suck one year they're gonna need the eagles every week. The public will turn on a team even a local team very quickly if they're not covering spreads. What about the Golden Knights? What's going to happen there? If the struggle. Yeah. That'll be interesting. I can tell you. We're not seeing as much money on their home games as we were last year already. They had a tough loss last night at Nashville. I think it's a little too early to to wave the white flag on the Golden Knights, but they're certainly off to a disappointing start. And I did notice that the ticket prices were getting a little cheaper and T mobile arena with question about a trend. I saw on Twitter. I forget who was posting it teams that play in Vegas their own six now after playing the Golden Knights. Have you heard any rumors of the Vegas Lou wreaking havoc.

And they got knocked out by some dumb shit kind of sixteen to twelve game joy of socks. So on tilt over that and I left with game six of the two thousand eleven World Series. You know, I I really. I mean, listen, I left in Houston. You want to be around all the Astros fans go in batch chicks or teams in the World Series for the first time. If I were at Busch stadium in two thousand eleven, I would have stayed all the way until the end even though I would have witnessed what I thought he way the Rangers celebrating their first world championship, so I would have seen freezes it. And sometimes I'm telling you this just did it last week. Actually. It might sound weird. I would recommend it to people actually, it's a, it's a legal narcotic. If I'm just kinda like I mean YouTube, it's just an, it's such a rabbit hole, but I'm just like, you know what? I'm kind of in the mood to watch the ninth inning of of the two thousand eleven World Series game six and it's just automatically puts you in a better place. In the next thing, you know, you're watching the bottom of the tenth and then of course you're watching and we'll see you tomorrow night and it's just it's, it's instant offense. So that's an that's an easy one. You know other ones that another one that I it certainly, especially in Saint Louis doesn't have the same. Same cachet and I don't know what can of game six. The two thousand eleven will series. It would be wonderful if game six of the two thousand eleven World Series is somehow in second place at some point for people. I imagine if the blues win the Stanley Cup at enterprise center, even if it's not like some fascinating game, like what you had with game six of the two thousand eleven World Series. I would imagine that might be up there for people if and when that happens. But in nineteen ninety seven when Missouri played Nebraska, which yes, they lost. But the game itself for so many reasons just became like this, you know, like where you there? Oh, my God. You weren't there. That was just because it just was so uncommon. I Don. I don't even know what it would would you could draw comparison to now because Missouri had been so terrible for so long. I think they were twenty five give or take half point underdog to Nebraska, Nebraska. That time. Whereas the punchline right now was absolute machine, Missouri joke and Missouri, it started to play better, but still you didn't. I mean, they still, I just all you twenty five point underdog ever. Take a half point might have been a little more than actually, but either way you're playing against this, you know powerhouse. It was a perfect afternoon, weather wise. I think it was like November eighth ninety seven give or take a day. It's the same day producer, Joe got his ankle tat I know those two are intertwined just like the barb wire on his ankle and and you too was playing at the dome at the time. I was a huge U2. fan. I really was a YouTube fan all the way up until few years ago. And now for whatever reason, I just have no interest in the, I don't know what happened. I think it goes back to when they sent the music to your iphone when you didn't ask for it. I think that's what it was, but I, I saw him at Soldier Field Chicago in two thousand nine, and I saw him in Las Vegas at Sam Boyd stadium a month later Las Vegas, two thousand nine and they were Scott. Trade Center. I think maybe they were the dome here within the last year and I'm just like, man, that interest plus it was like a Friday or Saturday night, and this was not interested. But anyway, I digress. I wanted to go to YouTube concert, and so I was in Saint Louis and I was watching it on television and it just was the perfect day. Weather wise. "Jake Rowan says, all new music, all new music day. You want to hear something weird? Yes. CBS LA is reporting that the raiders have approached sandiego officials about playing their next season before the team's permanent move to Las Vegas. The following season when their new stadium is completed a smack in the face that is to San Diego and a town that hates the raiders. And I mean how, how bad do you wanna kick Oakland. Yeah, that's true. It's true it it. They really don't care who they stop they. I mean to me, that would be a huge. I'm sure of San Diego would take it because there's a lot of revenue Societa d- with having an NFL team, but men that is a slap in the face. If there's one thing, charger fans hate more than anything else. It's raider fans. But raiders no care raiders ago wherever I mean part of the team's lease at Oakland Alameda County Coliseum expires. At the end of this season, Las Vegas is expected to open in twenty twenty. The raiders have also looked at playing next season at Sam Boyd stadium in Las Vegas. That's where UNLV right or Levi's stadium in Santa Clara. That's where the Niners has beautiful stadium out in the middle on this what will call a gap year because they, you know, Oakland's probably not gonna cut him a favorable deal because they're leaving. Jason lockenfora CBS sports reported that according to league sources, there's been some contact between them, the team and the mayor's office in San Diego, though the likelihood of ever playing in interim game, they're much less a full season is remote. But if Oakland, why not just go to Vegas already, Sam Boyd, let's go play at Sam Boyd. Get yourself started. Get yourself dug in, let's face it what the Rams are doing. Yeah, basically what their answer doing you go, there you play in the same town. I mean, I'm not sure what you by yourself by going to play in San Diego. It's a dump of a stadium. I'll tell you that much last couple of times. I was down there for the holiday bowl, man, and that was three or four years ago when USC was there, that place is an absolute dump. Fortunately, the Lakers will be there on Sunday at the indoor arena, which is like a pal. That's a different dump..

But he won't play when they go to Vegas. He only wants to play in Oakland. Okay. So this is the last run for him? I think raiders go on to Vegas in two years. Yeah, because it takes two years. He built us a little while. It's still a little up in the air because they could end up playing at UNLV for a year stadium is it's they're committed to one more year in Oakland that's about all we and I don't think they have a deal Oakland city council. They don't have a deal with the stadium next year. I mean, they're, they're just hanging out there. So they'd go play in Sam Boyd, silver bowl. I tried on us. But they had to do you have to do certain things to make NFL ready as a stadium, so they'd have to make some upgrades to it in order to play there. It's like a whole thing. It's a mess basically to Lord. That's another reason their skills now. So it's a skills, make it all better Jamie with the news? Well, that's the news. Thanks for stopping by heard, lie fired up for Baker Mayfield tonight. Just just don't worry about the stats just is poised or is he overwhelmed? And I think he's going to be fine. You know, one of the things I did remember those things I showed you guys, I, I did my three tiers of quarterbacks coming into the draft when Sam you could bring it up. If you wanted to. One of the reasons I kept doing that over and over and over, I must have done it. Ten times on this show is I said, when it comes to quarterbacks and I, I made sure I said it more on Baker Mayfield than anybody else. I told you exactly what I thought he would be because I didn't want you to come back and go, Colin, you said no, no, no, no, no. I said. From the very beginning. He's gonna have success in this league. He is really an accurate thrower and he's got some interesting instincts and he can move a little bit way more talented than Tim Tiba who I called as a bust way more talented than Johnny Manziel who I called is a bust way, better chance of playing unlike jamarcus Russell who I said was going to be a bust here here it is. Our guys found it. My my takeaway was Josh Rosen, and Sam darnold can win right now in the NFL Baker can win, but he's gonna need some help. He's not as talented ATH, throwers Rosen. He's not a talented athlete is Sam darnold and that bake. And I said that Josh and Lamar Jackson, they're not ready to win early. So let's look at where we're at. I still believe exactly that this is exactly what I believe now. I didn't say Baker couldn't win. I what I believe with Baker. He's not as good an athlete. He's not as good of an armed talented, Josh Rosen. He's not as big as strong and as Atlantic has Sam. Arnold. So he's going to need overtime more help around him. If you gave them the all the exact same help darnold and Rosen would win more games than Baker. But if Baker now has Jarvis Landry Nick Chubb, I think, has a chance to be offensive rookie of the year in the AFC I do think they have a good run. Blocking offense of liner receiving core is pretty interesting, but this is what I said pre-draft and this is what I believe. Now now where it appears, I could be wrong as Josh Allen. The kid in the lower depending on how you're sitting that lower left at lower left for me how TV isn't right side. He through coaching, Jordan Palmer has looked great. Now, again, vanilla fences. My gut feeling is Josh Allens gonna start week one because they don't have anybody else and it's not gonna look, great is he's facing vanilla stuff..

"And that will become very different. When we break orbit and head for Mars, do you ever feel isolated on the space station or maybe because it's so close that maybe you felt pretty connected? I think that the only times I ever felt isolated up there was when I knew there were events going on the ground that I really wanted to be a part of mostly family events. Other than that, not really a for two reasons. Number one, all those habitability factors that I mentioned. But number two where you are is just so magical. It captivates you. You are mostly feeling how amazing it is to be where you are and feel what you're feeling and see what you're seeing than you are wishing the two are elsewhere. So you said you. I mean there was only six people in this giant spacecraft, and you had a lot of room and you had three dimensions of room to, you know you, you you, you don't have to worry about just walking on the floor. You have all all surfaces to work. So confinement doesn't really seem like such much of an issue from your perspective on the space station. Now, if you're going further out, is there an optimal level of space? I guess that you would need as a human to operate and feel comfortable in spacecraft for long duration. Mitch, especially on Mars transit that can go somewhere up to nine months in a single spacecraft without really having the ability to to go outside for a walk and some fresh air. That's a great question. I think it's safe to say just holistically that as soon as you. Orbit and head for Mars. All those habitable habitability factors start going downhill for all sorts of reasons. Dow the station is huge. It's much larger than anything we would be thrown demars or any other exploration venue anytime soon. And at the human research program level, we actually had a research focus on what we called minimum habitable volume. In other words, what's the minimum? We would need to maintain a cruise health and performance in some of these deep space conditions. Now, I will point out that there is no maximum habitable volume that we're trying to determine. So basically the bigger the better that's not our problem. That's that's not the end where we have our issues, obviously to throw a mass to Mars is going to be highly constraining. And so the ship that goes to Mars, not only will it be truly isolated? You can't be home in several hours. There is no real time communication. You don't have that tremendous view of mother earth always. They're just making you feel connected to your home planet, but. Your will be quite small by necessity and coming up with that. Minimum habitable volume is is a bit of a daunting task because there's a certain amount of subjectivity to it so that the answer is from habitability Sam Boyd as big as possible, but that will be severely constrained. And so what I think will get is a reasonable volume envelope based on the mass were able to throw and the life support systems we have to accommodate. And with that volume, we'll try our best to make it as habitable as possible. Now you have to assume that the astronauts going on that mission to Mars are going to be you can you can soon the best of the best they're going to be a great crew. Well, if we can help. We can hope and they're gonna, and they're going to be able to get along with each other. And I think that's a big component as well as being confined in a space where masses a huge constraint spaces, a huge constraint for these laundry missions. Now, you're not only talking about confined the habitable volume and livable volume, but livable volume with other people, right? Yeah, but I think that you know a couple of things, you will be building expectations of the crew that goes to Mars in a way that will prepare them for this experience and they'll know what they're getting into just as we do on space station and NASA has been working very hard to develop training scenarios that build these expeditionary behaviors..
