"See the disney bundle dot com for details so the one thing that's been popping up a lot in giant circles that keeps being talked about is the fact that sam beal quarterback who many expected to be a cut in this group ends up making the final fifty three men roster and he also can be a player who is cycled out for. Somebody wants the We have some of these. Hurt defenders back. In available aaron robinson's example. Who's who's put on the pup list. But sam bill is going to be a part of this this final roster despite being relatively disappointing early on in his career with the giants so that is probably one of the more shocking moves here out of any of the ones that we're going to discuss on the show that sam bill is returning. Yeah looking at the roster. As a whole i think i can see the calculus at play. Aaron robinson is going on the pup list. He never came off during preseason so he is going to be unavailable for the first six weeks of the season. So the giants need depth in their defensive secondary and particularly at the cornerback position which that is basically sam bills ticket onto the roster especially with josh jackson dealing with an injury himself adore jackson dealing with an injury they were. They got very thin. They're very quickly. The other thing to take a look at is that casey kreider there long snapper got cut. Now we've already had reports that the giants have said we are resigning. You don't worry about it. What i think is going to happen and may have already happened by the time. This airs is that aaron robinson is going to get put on the pup list that will free up a roster spot in. Casey kreider is going to get resigned to that spot now. I think this is basically a six week. Audition for sam beal. He has six to prove to the giants that he is worth keeping for the rest of the season. Otherwise i think he is. The cut when aaron robinson is rated. Come off the pup list in six or eight weeks so i just. I'm just going to put that down. Now is the way. I think this all works out. That sounds like it's going to be the most likely outcome on the reason. Why sam bill sticking around. Is that once you end up. Getting back Eh robinson you'll be completely fine and then you're going to get rid of sam bill that if we're just kind of going off something here like you said. I think that ultimately based on some some quick math that makes the most sense in reference to math here trying to really figure out how they ended up cutting to the pass rushers that they signed in free agency who we had some relative decent expectations for don't make the final roster odor ningbo who. We talked pretty highly signs a pretty cheap deal. We thought that maybe he ends up being a good rotational player. I guess these -ocial ari draft selection kind of pushes him down in the order of things and then ryan anderson who recently got suspended for six games for pd's that one's a little bit more blatantly obvious that they caught him because they don't want to sit around and wait for a guy who's been relatively mediocre to come back to this roster so both these guys that they signed recently are not going to be a part of this roster. Yeah definitely say odin. He mows the more surprising cut of the two. I think this is another one. That comes down to special teams. A he wasn't a perfect fit for the defense. He's he really looked a lot more comfortable as a hand in dirt classic defensive end and that was how he had his best success with the minnesota vikings so i think the giants in a way kind of did him a favor and let let him go to a team where he would be able to play his best position most often and it kinda sucks that he wasn't they weren't able to put him in a position to us what he uses skillset most efficiently. But that's just kind of how it is. They thought he might have a skill set that would transition to their defense and it turned out not as well as they might have hoped but then anderson like you said that one makes sense but the other thing with owning bell is. He didn't play a whole hell of auto special teams yet. He was on there for a few snaps a game but not a whole lot. Trent harris however was a guy a lot of people getting cut. But i just thinking suspicion he was going to make the roster and he did and it was mostly because he was another guy who is on just about every special teams snap and he might not be the same pass. Rusher owning boas and we'll say inconsistent at setting an edge in run defense. But i saw him place pretty well on special teams and i keep saying this is a a football team with three special teams coordinators. Got joe judge tom quinn and mcluhan out there. So they have a real heavy emphasis on special teams play. And if you're not an every down starter you have to be able to contribute on special teams. Yeah that's always going to be a big priority here. So if he if the expectation from him is that he needs to be a guy that's getting into the starting rotation and he doesn't even work his way into the starting rotation they're better off keeping some guys at some different positions that are going to be primarily Special teams players. So that is always going to be a priority as you said.

"A bit of a mixed bag in terms of who was on the field. We saw like a tiny. Bit of xavier mckinney. We saw a tiny bit of thorny homes and maybe that was just based on who was available and depth. They just needed to line. Those guys up for a little bit. That just wanted to get them to the younger guys on this defense. But if we're talking about some top performers some guys that really shine in some spots where they kind of needed to if they wanted to fight to make it and stay on this roster. I one oceans immunised made a lot of good plays. I don't necessarily you can say that. He earned himself roster spot in this game. But i think zimmerman is starting to prove that. Hey when this guy is healthy he can be disruptive and he can be a one of the better rotational pass rushers on this roster yet the keyword there is pass rusher and he definitely impressed yet. Five pressures in the game had that one sack on the first drive. Speaking of that i drive. Which is amazing by kevin's too fancy. That's how you really call plays off of each other and just absolutely manipulated. The second team giants defense. It seemed like but up on that same drive. Oceans administers was tasked to be the Contained defender on the outside. And he just kinda got washed. On line of scrimmage ended up on the grounds. That's still a concern for me or administers ability to hold up against the ron. Which is a vital part of what patrick graham wants to do so. I think he definitely did. Good things on tape terms of rushing the passer. We saw a couple of different times in this game but he still needs to be better against the run right now. I would almost look at oceans as maybe that nickel pass rusher guide giant. Bring on. when they're in a four to five type alignment just to me. He looked a bit more comfortable as a hand in dirt defensive end. He moved well enough as a standup pass. Rusher but I thought his just leverage quickness off the ball was a little bit better with his hand in the dirt or kind of fake dirt like substance. Whatever they use in cleveland and yet you talk about the contain and just the the way. The browns moved the ball especially on that first series are say the first two series and joan. I talked about it in our quick reaction podcast last night. The giants need to work on their tackling. This is been two games in a row where there have just been way. Too many tackles too. Many arm tackles too many attempts at a lunge where the defender just kinda whiffs and given up way too many yards after contact. I liked joe. Kelley coming out of tennessee. But damn these yeah. He was coming out of tennessee. The giants had seventeen tackles in this game. And that's not anything that we saw from the obviously first team but still the giants second team is going up against the brown team so you think that would somewhat balance out. But they're way too. Many missed tackles. Yeah devante down to sam beal. Who had are horrendous game. Had three missed tackles the also had given mola had to miss tackles accredited from pro football focus. I'd like to see those on tape. Trent harris had a couple so that is not something that i feel like it's consistent with patrick. Graham hasn't still been the first team. Giants defense still managed just 'undisciplined football and you saw on a couple of those long runs by the ernest. Johnson's why guys just falling over does not executing good technique. It was kind of a hard to watch. It really wasn't and i'm glad you brought up discipline because that was the word that kind of jumped out to me especially watching the giants defense. When the browns would execute some kind of misdirection Sending a receiver in motion or having play action yet. The giants defense would bite hard on that and that that would have them just completely out of position to make a play on the ball and what could have been a three or four yard. Gain turns into a ten or twelve yard gain. Those first two drive. It seemed like the only times the browns were getting ten yards. Pop was if they screw something up. It's what it seemed like. I mean ryan anderson like somebody who usually from my tape study from alabama and even a little bit in washington was disciplined run defender and he bit so many times he was added position. Loss contain. That was actually kinda surprised about how he wasn't a lot of those types of reps number forty six out there late. Thirty six total snaps. You know you have to get your are is with. Get our eyes on a lot of these edge defenders because once the giants actually have some quality edged defenders. I would say Might be one or two that get released. And you're gonna be like okay. That i probably get scooped up by another team. Women's said that in a while about the new york giants. I don't think ryan anderson did too. Well himself sam bill definitely to do to from somebody who deep giants secondary when you have guys at various williams. Who have i would say. Add up and down kind of game better than the jets game but Still up somebody who could crack the roster even in a deep group as a rookie. Just because he's been having such a camp sam bill ryan anderson. Both those guys are guys who did not impress me in alaw. Minimum offense is another one group in there so conversely in terms of talking guys didn't press you. I want to say i found it very interesting..

"He's another player. That hasn't jumped out quite yet. I got maybe dive into the nitty gritty of the film. A little bit more to see how he's being utilized. Because you know the all twenty two game passes just an absolute disaster right now but you know moa keeps making this this decision. Be hard for the new york giants if they want to try to release him in even squeeze him on the practice squad on their team. If you're lisa player you try to get him on the practice. What any other team. Thirty one other teams can claim him onto their active roster. And then you lose it and that's kind of the kind of the catch twenty two that yes you want to keep him. He's a young player. You wanna develop them but if somebody else wants him then he's gone. That's what ryan conley in the vikings last year so moa just had a great affair and no everybody else they'd be view has been talking about him as well. A lot of these younger players rice in john. I thought rebellious williams had one or two really solid repsonse also picked on just a little bit but he somebody that definitely has a chance to make this roster somebody. There's been a lot of buzz about all throughout the off season because he's been a really solid pickup as a six round. Pick at another position for the new york giants the secondary but he's competing with spa for sparsely. Josh jackson with the giants acquired from the packers. And then guys like sam beal who was beat pretty bad on in this game several times. I mean matt cole. A wide receiver the giants acquire recently on august. Eighth was playing cornerback and he wasn't targeted. Once the browns just focused on. Sam buell side and sam build a one time. He actually had solid coverage. Off the line of scrimmage. He drifted his round allowed the wide receiver undercut him to make the catch and that's just bad technique towards the latter half of the plane. You can't have those types of things. Bill mean it just hasn't looked good for him and his chances to crack this roster dwindle every time we get any sort of tape from him. So that's definitely not a positive whatsoever. And then i just thought it was good to see gary bright well. It was good to see him. He caught a couple dump offs. Fourth and six had a good catch in the flat adjusted. Well to those passes albeit. They were simple passes. He was stuffed on the goal line. But that was really just a good play by the end man. On the line of scrimmage for the cleveland browns. not really too much. He could have done from that. Maybe if he cut back inside he had a better opportunity but it was played well by the browns on that play executed. Just better than the new york giants. But i really wanna bring him up because outside of rotarians williams right now. We haven't as laurie who didn't wasn't really there today. Either because they dinged himself up at believe in practice. But everything's going to be okay with him outside of those two guys. We've seen these rookies. We area's tony. We've hardly seen very concerning robinson. He's been on the pup. And gary bright. Well who is somebody who the giants spent a six round pick and we hadn't seen up until point. So you're talking about your. I your third one of your six round picks you haven't seen and then ellison smith the fourth round pick. We haven't really seen so we're talking about the only guys we've really seen row training camp up until this point was as social. Laurie has been balling and doing well. At drought training camp that is and the mod areas williams who was used all over the field and patrick graham system with the second team which i loved to see boundary slot. Free safety you know how much of a high priority this coaching staff puts on players. Who provide a lot of versatility various williams or at least attempting to give him that. So that's good and just to see bright well was good just because you wanna see rookies. I don't know of any other. Nfl teams that basically haven't seen like eighty percent of their rookies. It's not great for the new york giants from that standpoint but still early on. We'll see what happens. But speaking of versatility carter coughlin got him. There had a sack which was great to see. Oh chains is also out of saqqara. Coffin was being used on the edge just like he was in college with the golden gophers minnesota and last year for the giants and then he was also at linebacker and i think overall he did solid he had one bad series. Where just did not look like. He knew what he was doing and he tried basically boxing out of the wide receiver or tight end around the scene about ten yards down. The field didn't get his head around. It was terrible technique from quarter coffin on that one play and then there was another one where there was a tynan cross. Who's a little late to react. Gave up about six yard. Game might have been a first down. Pick up as well but those types of things will be cleaned up. I think athletically he was carrying metric felton. Who's a great athlete at a ucla. A rookie down the field which is great to see so i think cardi call doing a good job to earn himself a roster spot because he can wear so many hats for patrick rams defense. "Days review of the giants burst reason. Gain of twenty twenty one. Yes folks who heard that correctly the giants will be playing football for the first time for this twenty twenty one season it is going to be against the new york jets. That game is set to kick off at seven thirty. Obviously at metlife stadium because they're playing the team that they shared the stadium with so a tradition that we see fairly consistently throughout the preseason. The battle between the jets and the giants. And there's gonna be some headlines that we're going to be focusing in on and we're going to discuss that on today's preview show of this preseason game but the one thing that we were talking about going over before we hopped on the mike and started recording is how odd things are going to be this. Preseason and it's not because a co vid like we had last year but for the fact that there are only three preseason games and that is honestly going to impact how guys are put on the field. How guys are deployed. How much the offense and defense is going to use of their playbook. We're not used to this three-game structure we're not used to seeing a preseason. That is only consisting of three games so right now it's a bit up in the year. We can't really fully predict and say who we know is going to be out there and playing until after the game in years past obviously not last year. But you know all the way up to twenty one thousand nine when they had four preseason games there was a rhythm to it you know teams would send their starters out for one series. Maybe two maybe three if things went really badly and they only got like three plays and then they'd start. Rotating the backups. In everything would be real vanilla. Just cover to on defense. No few not a whole lot of blitzing. Not a whole lot of wrinkles rotations. Things like that teams wouldn't show much on offense. They're basically just trying to get into the swing of things yet. Get out of the game with some experience but without showing too much of what they are planning and things a little bit more seriously a little bit more regular season game like in game two than in preseason week three. That was the the dress rehearsal dress rehearsal. That was when the giants would always play the jets. It feels weird that this week one and feels kind of lower the stakes on what used to be this new people and then preseason week for most of the starters would sit out and it would be a showcase for the guys at the back end of the roster the guys fighting to just stay in the league a lot of them this year it are. We still going to see that real vanilla week one or are we going to see something. Maybe a little bit more like what we used to see in week. Two where the first quarter would look pretty much like what the team was planning on playing in the regular season. I just don't yet. It seems like having one less. Preseason game i mean that's great for the nfl players but it's going to affect or at least it really raises the stakes of these younger players on the roster who are really trying to crack that fifty three fifty five whatever you wanna deem it. So i'm looking at guys like sam beal guys who you know. They were drafted somewhat. High and controversial have not played in quite a while. Now can they do enough in this little three-game sample size to earn a final roster spot especially in these really really deep groups at the giants at like be cornerback. Physician like the defensive line. I wish one of those deep groups was the offensive line but unfortunately that is not the case for the new york giants right now just as a sidebar. That's that's not the case for a lot of teams in the league. There are very very few to really deep offensive. Line's out there. But that i think is a whole other podcast. That definitely is an area of concern for the giants. And i think someplace we're gonna be watching. Yes you're one hundred percent right about that offense of line plays one of the hardest things to find a little concerned with the fact that if one of these starters who none of them are really proven. If we're going to be honest if one of those starters goes down the giants at tackle at center at garbage. What have you giants. Are maybe a really problematic position. And you're relying on starters who hadn't been proven consistent yet. And i think that actually leads into the number one thing i'm watching for in this preseason game just overall at every position on every side of the ball offense defense special teams and that is no injuries yet get in get some experience. Get some game reps and get out with everybody healthy. I think that is the number one thing. Yeah that's always one big hurdle that you tend to try to handle properly within preseason which is not dealing with any injuries and i think you hit the nail on the head nick as well. Where if there is an injury with any of these starters during the preseason with the offensive line they are going to be in a really serious whole because as we know this group is not very proven not that consistent and you lose one guy. It's already going to be suffering big time. So i almost wonder here going off of that. Hopefully there's no injuries. I almost wonder how much they deploy the starters if even at all in this first game if it's just gonna be maybe one series because they're trying to keep everybody's legs fresh for what is going to be the seventeen game scheduled coming up which is going to be a grueling hall to get through for a lot of these guys that have sometimes struggle to stay fully healthy epic. There's you're right with that. But then i look at certain places matt pair. He somebody that probably if his back is okay and everything is straight with that. He's somebody who should probably see the feel little bit. Get some experience under his belt. You know maybe we'll hernandez at right guard as well nullum you. He still dealing with injuries and seems like everything's going to be fine there. I wouldn't force his hand to put him in there. But i think you're right. Man may be a series. Maybe two but i hope that's enough for them to really get comfortable and then kind of you know the third preseason game. They'll see a lot more a little bit more reps to really get ready for week one because denver denver's tough match-up defensively. You're going to have von miller coming back off the injury. You're gonna have bradley chubb. You're going to have one of the best defensive mind vic fangio and you better believe vic fangio is gonna throw the house in terms of twists and stunts and blitzes at the giants protection packages. Who are going to consist of a really really young offense line in speaking on. You're talking about some of those protection packages. And then also i think we also need to consider the offensive scheme as something that we're going to be curious to see how much they actually unveiled to us during this preseason game again we're going to keep saying this throughout the entirety of the preseason games when we do previews and recaps. There's only three games. So how much do you actually reveal. How much do you use as a period of dress rehearsal to get ready for the season. Obviously you're not going to do any advanced wrinkles that are going to be advantageous for you in week. One in throughout the season. But are we going to see any very variations in the offensive. Play calling in the scheme is. They're going to be anything different from what we saw last year. And we've talked about a ton here on the show how jason garrett last season had a bit of a vanilla offense now. You could argue. He was forced into that because of the lack of talent at certain positions that he had to rely on certain offense play calling styles. But do we see a shift away from that. Now that we're getting guys back healthy. Does he use the backups. To try and test some stuff out. Are we going to get to see something different or is it going to be more in line with how things looked in the twenty twenty season i think for just the first preseason game being the first preseason game. I think it's going to be kind of in line with what we saw last year. Just getting guys into a rhythm getting them used to playing at game. Speed building some confidence with the commonplace that they execute best. I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see something kind of like the general shape of what the regular season offense is going to look like. Maybe we will get an idea of the types of running schemes. The giants watering us. Like will they stick with some men gap looks or will they use more of the insides zone..
