The formal enactment of their bitcoin legal tender law on surprisingly and continuing the themes that i was just exploring the gladiatorial battle on twitter continued throughout the day professor. Steve hanky who has really really tried to use. This crypto cycle to jump to the very top of the bitcoin antagonist list. Just would not shut up about it. I mean we are talking about ten twelve separate tweets many which said the same thing over and over. Here's a good example contrary to president. Bu kelly's unfounded claims el salvadorians do not want. Bitcoin is legal tender. The only ones who applaud are criminals. They know that the bitcoin law paves the way for rampant money laundering and corruption. This is one of those arguments. Where as soon as you even dine to make it. I look around at myself. Everyone that i know. Who's working in this industry. All the people that i know who are connected to this industry all the people who are in places like asante who have proven over the last few years how. Bitcoin has relevance for community like el salvador. And i mostly just stopped listening to what you have to say. Because you're clearly not in it for an actual conversation. And yet he continues. He tweeted at least three times about bitcoins. Volatility bitcoin nineteen percent to a twenty four hour. Low of forty two thousand nine hundred and twenty one per bitcoin today to queens volatility is an obvious reminder that it can never be a reliable unit of account and thus can never be used as a currency. Btc is nothing more than a highly speculative asset. Naib kelly's bitcoin law will do el salvador. Never mind his careful use of hash tagging on. Bitcoin and btc gotta make sure. Everyone sees his angry tweets. Professor hanky also hated it when president. Bu pele bought the tip and made fun of the imf all in one tweet saying buying the dip one hundred and fifty new coins added. It appears the discount is ending. Thanks for the dip. "Salvador began accepting bitcoin as a legal tender. Yeah there we go. It's one of the many crypto experiments. that's happening across the globe. That's the way we're seeing knackers. You heard on this podcast. I in june just a few months ago. Remember well jacka. El salvador announced that bitcoin would be legal tender. I think we recorded that together. In new york person remember that. Oh yeah this week. During the different sweet green orders and menu. You went on the menu now. El salvador doesn't have their own currency they just use the us dollar but now they will also accept bitcoin interesting. Although el salvador also has fewer people than new york city where we recorded this guy and they announced this with like literally only three details at the time. All right rule number one. They announced in june. Every business in the country must accept bitcoin for the business that they do a single pusa. You can pay for that with a fraction of a bitcoin. Roll number two. The government will accept bitcoin to pay your taxes. And then jack rule number three kind of a little bonus cherry on top situation here. Citizens will not have to pay any capital gains taxes if they own. Bitcoin and bitcoin goes to the moon well yesterday. Bit salvador went live and we got a whole bunch more details. How the pulling this thing off. I i the central bank wanted to make a pr splash and lead by example. So they bought twenty one million bitcoin. The central bank. I mean el salvador. It's a tuesday tree yourself. There you go and then they set up a bunch of bitcoin. Atm's all across the country to get the populace excite and then to really get things going with bitcoin and in el salvador. They launched a brand new walla tap for forbid it's called chievo which is slang in spanish down in el salvador for cool very nice and with this app. Typical el salvadorians can conduct business and bitcoin yet. "I'm John not sure this is the John Batchelor show John Tammy he is the editor of real clear markets and most recently because John blunders widely in this column he is the author of the you're both wrong they're both wrong a policy guide for America's frustrated independent thinkers Mr Cagney's taken as both to al Salvador and Levin you pause a moment as I did when I read these columns I thought now what could we possibly learn in a violent place like el Salvador that has been badly abused by at least two hundred years of status and and interference from outside and then it got even more puzzling when we went to Lebanon because in both instances John is looking at monetarism monetarily NASM and how it doesn't work when you come up with examples such as these troubled countries John let's go to while Salvador first I'll Salvador as you report is declining romantically it's GDP is plunging why so John and how does this help us about understand about the monitor is what you call the monetarist magic well el Salvador's plunging because the U. S. economy is in terrible shape after the lockdown let's never forget that GDP is not that good at measure of economic growth GDP is just a measure of consumption or consumption is a consequence of economic growth and big majority of the consumption in El Salvador in modern times has been based on production in the United States relatives of Salvadorans who've moved to better opportunities in the United States send money home or many of them have tragically been put out of work by cruel inhumane politicians in the United States he decided to fight the virus with mass economic desperation and sold economic decline taking place in the United States suddenly quote demand for goods and services and food in el Salvador's plummeted basically we're Middleton remittances from the US US dollars to El Salvador have plummeted and as a consequence al Salvadorans are starving I John the el Salvadorian these are the transfer payments have come from the U. S. I'll solve your from your reporting doesn't really have an economy as I understand it it's a scribe said of the American economy senator read this that would be something that's true for a number of countries in Central America wouldn't not just outside of the door yeah without question what this production in the U. S. greatly informs GDP and a lot of central American countries and so when Americans aren't allowed to produce one their lockdown starvation ensues in in many parts of the world reliant on American remittances the striving people in the U. S. you came here rest our lives to get here who suddenly can't work because politicians don't have a clue about the sufferings of poor people and the al Salvador answer to their present circumstance which is far worse than anything I can witness here in the United States is the U. S. to recover they're they're they're not looking at another models there they need those remittances those transfer payments from their relatives and friends in America in order to rest in order to balance is that correct John yeah without question in in it's it's important to know because quote money supply in El Salvador isn't isn't a result of the fed money supply in El Salvador is a result of production in the United States is just a reminder that quote money supply is not something that can be complained by central bankers as monitors only one supplier is production determined one there's production money we'll find we'll find goods and services will find the money and vice versa just a consequence of it and so without production in the United States quote money supplying el Salvador his point now we go to another aspect of the of the orthodox theory which is that consumption is always a positive consumption can drive on a consummate and create GDP seventy percent or more of the American GDP is consumption we love to shop but shopping is not always a positive and we're going to give an instance here we go to Lebanon Beirut and John is reporting on the fact that Beirut cannot buy enough land Rovers or shall lays in your or apartments or condos houses in the general at bay road area and we can presume that at that brewery is also going great guns in Lebanon John ordinarily I would say this is a good for recovery because right now we can observe in America we're doing a lot of shopping you can see the money flow that was constructed by the month of quarantine in large cities Lebanon is doing a lot of shopping too however you have another interpretation how soda well it's a reminder of something to eat when you when I came to know each other during the meltdown in two thousand eight a what what preceded that mass consumption people were buying housing they were investing their buying housing so what's happening in the aisles and in Lebanon right now people are buying up ski chalets apartments cars jewelry hard assets why are they they no longer trust the Lebanese pound it's it's plummeted in value and so as a consequence people are putting their hiding their wealth and hard assets do best during periods of currency destruction and so just a reminder of a basic truth that consumption is the easy part that's what we all want to consume we want to get things but economic growth is driven by investment investment in new ideas the purchase of shares in companies the lending of funds to entend first well you don't see that during periods of devaluation all people do is consume because they no longer trust the current since they want exchange paperwork things real and so consumption people are gonna colonus Lovett but it shows you how debased economists are consumption is what happens frequently when the country's rapidly in the court what they're consuming with is be a currency that is the product of work already done do I have that lesson correct John absolutely right their consumption now isn't economic growth their consumption they are consuming past grow into now they're basically harvesting past wrote there just buying things based on what they're based on appropriate activity they used to have right now there's very little eleven ops all they can do is buy an investment is the way of it is a way of putting your money to work for work in the future that will come back to you as currency is that the way to think of it that's why you invest because your then rewarded with the product of work here you're buying speech her currency income streams you you you give up your claim on a thousand dollars now hoping to say get two thousand dollars back in the future but if the currency is being the value there's no reason to do that because we're investing is risky as it is and it's even riskier if the current season declining you see why this is anti economic growth when you're buying up ski chalets and Maseratis and everything you're buying wealth that already exists it's established gotten established market value when you buy shares in companies and you buy bonds of companies what you're buying is wealth that doesn't yet exist a claim on future wealth creation as you can see your consumption what everyone does there's nothing wrong with economic progress is driven by investment and the creation of future well that's not happened in Lebanon right now they're just consumed I want to give an example of how investment would work and see if I have it correct John in these last days when we know that during the virus shut down online was prospering and Amazon more than any other was prospering and wall street's opinion now has has considerably improved about the immediate prospect of Amazon prime at Amazon in the recovery continuing to do well of this online transfer so they've raised price targets on investing in a share of Amazon they've raised at all dramatically it is as much as you know twenty five percent in these last days because what you're what they're telling you is investment here is going to bring you is going to bring you profit later.

"For a lot. More analysis like this subscribe to the Economist to get twelve issues for twelve dollars. Twelve pounds just go to economist dot com slash radio offer. The people of El Salvador were in desperate need of change when their new president was inaugurated nearly a year ago. The man promising reform was Kelly at thirty eight. The youngest person ever to take charge of the country. His landslide victory broke the grip of the two parties that had governed since the end of a civil war in. Nineteen ninety-two on their watch. El Salvador's murder rate became the world's highest salvadorians left the country in droves. Three of the previous four presidents had been charged with corruption. But there are deep concerns about the way Mr Kelly is going about reforming El Salvador's young democracy some fear he's on course to become Latin. America's first millennial dictatorship nine book galleys the child of a rich Salvadorian family who spent much of his twenties managing nightclubs in the capital Salvador. About ten years ago he decided to get into politics. And it's been a very swift rise for him since then. Richard Ends our rights for the Economist and is based in Mexico. He is one of the youngest leaders in the world at thirty eight. He is a millennial. And in the Salvadorian context. He exists outside of this. Very polarized post civil war political environment. In which you had to traditional political parties that were both representing different sides of the civil war that ended in nineteen ninety-two sharing power but not doing very much good with it. On that watch. El Salvador remained in poverty. Violence increased dramatically to make it one of the most murderous countries on the planet so it was fertile territory to say the least for political outsider. Such as what Niagara Kelly presents himself to be and so he came to power promising to change all that I mean. How has he done on that score? Nyah Book Galleys in the eyes of critics damaging threat to many of the democratic institutions. That have actually been built. Up since the end of El Salvador's civil war and the most chilling set of events for many Salvadorians happened on the ninth of February. This year day that Salvadorians now cool nine F F Day. Us seem but I am. I has a security plan. He promised An Anti Corruption Commission. And He needs to negotiate with Congress that he does not control in order to fund it but rather than persisting being patient within these negotiations or trying to deal with some of the concerns that more makers had about how this funding woodwork. He took the army and went and staged a rally and protest. Outside Congress worth us a that Blanco Noble then took machine gun toting soldiers into the empty chamber plunked himself down in the seat of the president of Congress and invited the media into film him sitting in a seat that very much did not belong to him and it was this intimidatory tactics that for many observers marked a low point in the democratic life of El Salvador young though it is I mean how out of character is this for him in his time as leader is is this unusual is they're always been into this well with gallon with many leaders around the world if you want to know his character look at the way that he has responded to the Cova Nineteen pandemic which of course threatens the fragile health system in El Salvador and its neighboring countries in El Salvador. The quarantine if you break it. You will receive thirty days confinement in what they call a containment sensor which is kind of prison setup just to house these people who've broken quarantine the conditions inside these so-called containment senses are atrocious according to the people who have seen them and been inside. Multiple people have died after receiving lackluster treatment inside therefore covert nineteen itself and for other ailments. And the very arbitrariness of these arrests that lead to people being detained here has led to yet another constitutional crisis and another standoff between Mr Buch Galley and the Supreme Court so given the platform rose to power on what. What are his achievements? Nine Book Elliot's biggest achievement without is to preside over the continuing decline of El Salvador's in twenty seventeen one. Salvadorian in one thousand was murdered every year and that was the highest in the world. Mr Kelly came into power about twelve months ago and it's continued to fall impressively since then however the circumstances of the lockdown have made things a little bit more complicated gangs are trouble extorting because people cannot pay because no one is outside buying goods and at the end of April. There was a flurry of killings which caused the moderate to shoot back up again and again. We saw this authoritarian hardline. Instincts come out from Mister Boo Kelly. He decreed via twitter that he was authorizing the use of lethal force by police under pretty broad circumstances whenever they felt themselves or anyone else was threatened by a gang member and then he put on a show in one of those Salvador's prisons shaved chained and crammed into prisons tattoos. Mark their allegiance to different gangs but he collected lots of gang inmates into a single prison. God's to prevent the spread of covert nineteen seemingly apply to face mask to each inmate and forced them to strip to their underwear. Sit Down in huddle in single file with legs wrapped around the waist of the inmate in front of them in a kind of humiliating pose designed to show everyone who was bossed and so how have people reacted to that message. How how the people who put him in power reacted to what he's he's now revealing himself to be well. This formula has been until now wildly successful somewhere between eighty and ninety percents of Salvadorians. Approve of Kelly's response to the pandemic. They think he is protecting them. And many Salvadorians believes that if what they had in the past was called democracy than they think that democracy has filed and they are willing to try whatever formula nine book wants to propose. And you think that there's no end to that the these kinds of displays of authoritarian streak and so on they. They're ready for that too well. Mr Bill faces the same problem that many leaders around the world face which is that the pandemic is coming and so is a horrible economic depression most likely in El Salvador. This is going to plunge many people who've escaped poverty. In recent years and decades back into poverty people will not be able to work remittances from the United States. And not going to come. This is going to be a very difficult time and no leader should take for granted any support that they happens to have now as we go into the rest of two thousand twenty Richard. Thanks very much for joining.

I could tell you stories I can tell you politics, I can just give judge. But you realize something today, the most talk show host sit there like judges including myself with sitting in judgment, virtually everything that goes before us. And we act like we know more than anyone else. What the right answer is. And if we don't act that way, well knowing listen to us. But how many of us really know what talking about is the question? I know I know what I'm talking about live long enough to you. We cannot take all of the world's poor. Is there anyone on earth, who would believe we can take in what three hundred million should we displace the entire population with poor Guatemalans, El Salvadorians, Nicaraguans Brazilians? Is that what you want you? It's how can you not understand? That a nation without borders. Does not exist. How is it that there are more illegal aliens, coming in on the Trump and under Obama? It's an uncomfortable question. It sounds this loyal. No one else who support Trump would ask, because they will be accused of being Benedict on old. But I'm gonna ask. If Obama were president and the number of illegal alien families seeking asylum was at this level, what would you be doing screaming? Communist. Hates America Muslim communist. Well, we screamed them the robot. He was a Muslim communist and we elect Trump now what? Now it's worse. So what happened? It's called the shell game. That's all you vote for a you get not be you get see vote for being you don't get. You see you get with the power structure, once that simple. It looks to me like Jeb Bush one. Do you know the Jeb Bush immigration program, wouldn't be no different than what was saying? Now amnesty open borders without a word. Why is Trump wasting time talking about a Biden instead of about the flood at the border? I want practical solutions wall. I told you haven't even gotten a speed bump. Where's the wall? There is Bill wall build up mall. Build build that wall build out mall. I mean, build that wall. Is it a mall or wall, what we got a nice ball and Dubai, build that mall? Build that wall. Okay. Parody, only go so far. Let's take some calls San Jose. Call line two. You're up on the Savage Nation. Fire away thirty seconds or less. Michael did that bring about why the more people are coming under Trump is because they're sitting down there. They wanna come and they, they think that they all have to go right now because Trump is serious about this stuff. They know it. They think he's serious. What does he get serious about it? "Andy to try and understand what their motivations are. There's an apparent motivation, which is some sort of righteous Iranian insider who was calling out. You know, what they say is the corruption of this intelligence agency from within? But all of the comments that I'm getting on my story about this on Twitter points out that they don't actually seem to be native Farsi speakers. They certainly want to look like they're Iranians. Instead, this appears to be some other nationality of pretending to Iranian. Then. There's also the possibility that this is an external intelligence agency. It may be a message to oil rig. That they have stepped across too many lies that they're simply too aggressive. You've drawn comparisons between this group loved the gun and the shadow brokers hack of the NSA explain that reminders with that was about well, the shadow brokers is this remarkable instill entirely unsolved mystery that unfolded starting in the summer of two thousand sixteen these mysterious hackers who call themselves the shadow brokers started dumping leaking the hacking tools of the NSA, which is such a remarkable events because we had never seen anything like this collection of tools. This was probably a more significant leak from the NSA than even Edward Snowden leaks. This group of hackers would just appear periodically to taunt the NSA published more of their tools, occasionally, even out former NSA hackers. It's very similar to what's happening here. And it kind of seems like this shadow brokers technique is being used to disrupts in embarrassed and stymie, another state sponsored hacking group, you could come up with a theory that perhaps loved to go. Is an essay. And that they're doing to the Iranians what was done to them. But you know, there's really no evidence of that yet. And it doesn't honestly strike me. As the kind of thing the NSA does the NSA is usually a lot quieter. So how big a blow is loved to gone to oil Reagan. What does this tell us about Iranian state hacking? I think it's a setback all of their tools are essentially burned. Now, we have the all identified if they're used again, it's very clear who use them and they're easier to detect so they probably have to start over and develop a lot of their tools again. But it's not that hard to rebuild tools that are not as recognizable. So it's a message sent to this group, and it certainly will cost them something. But I think we'll see them just as active in a few months or a year. Andy Greenberg with wired magazine. Thanks very much for time ending. Thank you, Marco up, next climate, change and coffee beans. This is the world. I'm Marco werman. And you're with the world over the years. A lot of El Salvadorians have left their country and headed north nearly twenty percent of Salvadorans citizens now live in the US almost a million and a half people a lot of factors contribute to that migration. Gang violence, a stagnant economy. Here's another climate change. It's had a big impact on the country's once-dominant coffee industry. Here's more from reporter, Emily green. At this Hennessy do coffee farm outside. San Salvador you Lana del Carmen marine waters field of baby coffee plants. She's worked here since she was twelve and she's done just about every job. There is found the Fanin. They'll cutting the plants watering them picking out the sub standard see bologna grandiflora knocker mother coffee plants used to be big. She says each one would produce three baskets of beans. Now, she says they hardly produce anything the harvest it's disappearing little by little. And so is the workforce del Carmen says there used to be up to ten workers dedicated just to watering the plants now there does your. It's the same across pretty much all the jobs on the farm, and this coffee farm is a microcosm of what's happening across Salvador coffee production. Here is half of what it was ten years ago. And during that time, the industry has lost more than eighty thousand jobs. Remember? Oscar Tornatore CEO has also seen this decline firsthand. "We've got a couple of big stories that have simmered over the weekend big time as you might expect. First of all, it was Trump declaring an emergency and grasping the money for his wall on the southwest border. And of course, the fight over that and California, and the usual states, the ones you might expect like Colorado in Connecticut, and Maryland and New York and all of the others that are run by Democrats, and they love those undocumented democrat votes coming in here, California, especially it's ridiculous. They're overrun by illegal. Mexicans illegal aliens Venezuelans and send Salvadorians and everything else. But they allow them to vote, and it'll be interesting as to whether or not they can vote in the twenty twenty election, and I'm saying that ain't going to happen because the losing candidate goes to court over that and says, you had all kinds of illegal votes from California. You can't do that they can allow illegals to vote in California elections or local elections, that's one thing. But certainly they wouldn't be allowed to vote in a presidential or a national election of any kind. But that aside these are all of the states, basically Democrats want those illegal democrat voters coming across that border. And then the other big story is the Jesse smaller story that simmered over the weekend. And this guy the guy who is anybody seen the TV series empire. Nope. I've seen the commercials for that's about the best. I can do for them and even seen that. What about you would Jeff I've seen commercials, but I have not seen it. And how about you Natalie? I've seen commercials as well. Like previous for commercials. Don't work their commercials. Must be very highly. Rated. Yeah, they pushed it really hard. When it came out. It was a we got to introduce all these new actors and stuff, you know. But I guess this is part of the Trump derangement syndrome here is if things you'll see smaller tries to impale the president by his followers, putting a noose around his neck and all this stuff. Then you find out. It didn't true, and he could get up to three years for this. I don't think he will. But Chicago police are handling this now, and it's pretty well been. Pooh-poohed and everything else. It's not true nothing that he said he made this up with a couple of buddies. And even the buddies of now said that it's true. Well, they say they say his motive could have come from a letter that he got a saying maga- and all this racist stuff that he claimed happened on the on the street as well, which he said he got this letter. But there wasn't enough attention around the letter people weren't outrage enough by the letter. So that makes me think did he write that letter in the first place from him. The first thing. I thought also. Yeah, I think so I definitely think so and police are finding there's no corroboration on this thing whatsoever. And they'll probably end up doing more time than he will his buddies that helped him out because they're nobody's don't have a lawyer. Well, you know, that's a possibility as well. At least they cooperated, and they talk they're going to get off here. Yeah. And they got paid a lot of money. I'm wondering if they're gonna have to give the money back to small it here because it all fell apart transactions final its final transactions filed to keep the money in a news though to put around your neck. Announcer and vote to put the fan doll. All right MICH, calm down. Just take it down a notch. The quest to end the longest government shutdown in American history is still miles away from a compromise. But the distance could close quick might be a big deal brewing behind the scenes, we all hope so because how this ends matters a lot. I believe that. There's gotta be a way that ends its helps solving. The American problem that the Republican Democratic problem of immigration. How you get in the refugees. How we keep our studs here that we're training in Stanford and Berkeley, and in Princeton, I want these foreign students estate in America with the education that we gave them, and it also want them to have work permits for people that want to come here and work can't get in their own country. We need them on the farms you need them in some industries. So let's let them stay bullets. Do it in organiz. Wait, let's do everything. Can we get this done? "No last couple days. Right. I've been out, you know, wherever I go to the gym or the grocery store, whatever. And I'll run into people. Right. Listen to the show, and I've had a couple people come up to me recently. My man Jose today at the gym my half, El Salvadorian, Mexican, brother. Jim today's events precedent. I was doing bench press, actually. Yeah. I actually did. I had a little deltoid were I hadn't done. Well, no interesting traps in their weight. So I did do so on the weekend. I started to do chest. But then it was too packed. So I couldn't actually do the bench press part of in. So I was like I'll save that at some point later in the week because I was gonna do back today. So the chest, and then I did back. So I did actually work out all those things. To see if we get to the russillo portion of the show. Yeah. Real quick. Yeah. I should actually we when Ryan is in your next to come into the studio because I I don't know when he comes into his podcast, but I would love to just chat with him because I love about lifting we well know in general think it'd be part of he's looking real swollen. For a long time said that he likes to talk about. It does. So anyway, so my man Jose brought this in I were talking about this at the gym today. So he was like, oh, man. Like, you know, you know, I didn't really grow up Rams fan. But I'm behind them right now. And I'm like, yeah. Because it's Boston, right? Like, you're going against boss. He's like, absolutely. So he was going down this rabbit hole about how you know. He's got almost all his family is in Boston and his family's here in LA. They gave him so much grief during the dodgers Red Sox sue, so he's just waiting for the Rams to beat the patriots. So he can give him grief back and he's like again, I'm on the bandwagon. So unlike let's go that was kind of my point yesterday. Like, even if you're not a Rams fan you need to get behind this team. A because of the rivalry between LA in Boston. And be it's for the better. Good. I am tired of the patriots and everyone should be as well do not to abruptly change topics of. Did you see the Woche tweet about Memphis knew what happened? Memphis will quote begin listening to trade offers for Kosolin. Yeah. Just saw that. Yeah. Quote, Memphis has reached a crossroads and is preparing to weigh deals involving one or both of its cornerstone veterans too late. I think obviously what they should be doing. I mean, they're they've lost. I think what thirteen fourteen games or something ridiculous. But they waited too long soul. They should have done this with us. Oh last year. So I'll say this about about Marcus, all I've watched Memphis probably more than it should have this season. When when the Memphis has a chance when they're looking like there, there's something at the end of the rainbow. You're going to get one type of Marcus all when it when it appears that the team is not going to be in contention. You got the other version of Marcus oil and just look at his splits, right? From basically the first month of the season to what it's been now. And then compared to what you saw last year once Konta got injured, and in other words, Marcus still really good when he's in the mood. And so he could make a real difference. I think for a team that is that is wanting to contend this year. The whole question is how many teams are George. You know, this there are more buyers than sellers. Correct. Probably so. This actually puts Memphis in a pretty good spot. Yeah. Right. Because it you would think somebody don't lease get a first round pick from somebody, right? For for Gonzalez's. Highly highly still very good player. He's a good player. He's I mean, my Conley is. What would you say top twenty five thirty player? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'd say top twenty five probably because he's he's got on both ends. He's he's just solid shoot. He's pretty good at everything. He's pretty good defensively. But just it will assert my point about Gusau. 'cause I think some people will will hear this..

"Seven six fifty eight fifty eight and again like a broken record. But the unemployment numbers. Historically, the lowest historically for African Americans and Hispanics that says a lot that's a lot. And that's something. I think we all can be proud of Caucasians African Americans as panics Republicans, Democrats, the Democrats will ever minute. But it's something we all can be very proud of because we all benefit by that all races all ethnicities Gilbert, you're on Cam. Jay. Hi. Hi, right. My on this is that I I I'm for Trump. I'm for the wall. And I think the reason that the polls are going up higher and higher is because the majority of people in California are Mexico. Okay. Salvadorians Guatemalans Sarah different country. And there's there's differences in countries. I know we're all they're all from South America. But nevertheless, it's a different country. So I don't think that they want them crashing the gates and forcing themselves in here. I see okay. The Mexican people are now speaking English, they're understanding more of what's really happening. And I think that's why the polls are going up. That could very well be true. Again. This is not California poets and national poll, but this is a national problem. We're having with all of these people at the border who from Central America. And that's a good point. Because it's been a particular to me so many times from Mexican American people and Mexican people that I know that not all birds of a feather stick together simply because they're Latino they're Hispanic and come from basically the same region. Mexican people seem to view the Marlins Hondurans El Salvadorians Panamanians very differently and. I think because of that we may be getting these numbers because of the the crowd, that's invaded basically Mexico and his camped out at the border. Right. So I agree. There may be some there may be some truth to that Gilbert. Okay. Thank you. Thank you for pointing that out and. And. At the same time a half to say nothing gets a Mexican people because as government the government of Mexico may be a player in this because I not closed their southern border. If they close the southern border. We wouldn't have this problem with the northern border where you know, we've got all of the people stacked up. So they've just allow them to pass through in some cases, helping them. So I see some sneaky sneaky there for whatever reason. We'll take a little bit of a breather. Everybody. Hold on. Please. "Said or done as lead immorality at the order in with the wall. He he's simply he simply enforcing the law. But Democrats are the ones that have used this in a very immoral manner. And they continue to do so well, and they also continue as many of them not all of them to stress the point that this is all about white supremacy and President Trump hates dark skinned people today a report out in the Washington Examiner, ranchers and farmers farmers near that US. Mexico border have been continually finding prayer rugs on their properties in the last few months, the Matt's pieces of carpet that those of the Muslim faith Neil on as they worship. And of course, President Trump was called anti Muslim and Islam phobic. And the like, but it's not just the massive caravans another one, by the way on the way from Honduras. It could swell to. As many as fifteen thousand people massing in our border in the next month or so trying to get in and take advantage of the poorest border borders on our southern part of our country, but it's not just Hon. Durins Guatemalans El Salvadorians or Mexicans trying to cross the border illegally. There are people who are Jihadist. There are people who wished to do our country harm. There are all kinds of people from all over the world because they know that southern border is porous. And there's not a lot of protection along great great lengths of that southern border. So we are facing if Islam terrorism is the greatest outside threat to our government not man made climate change is Islam terrorism. And no matter what anybody says, ISIS, Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda's started to raise their ugly head again, the Taliban. Dan, they know that our southern border is porous and we can't protect all of it. Because of the obstruction of Democrats and people who want to president do what his job is to do is to protect the citizens of the United States of America. We have people from all over the world. It's not just central Americans. It's not Mexicans. It's people from all over the world know that this is this is their time to come now. And we have these jihadists in his Llamas are coming across the southern border and the ranchers and the people who are on the southern border and customs and borders patrol know this, but that's not been publicized or made clear by the Democrats at all in their opposition to President Trump and border security. Right. I saw today let's face it. This whole border issue has to do with the cost of Nancy Pelosi. A meet statistic today. Gary Jeff five point four billion dollars out of our four trillion. Plus budget is the same as fifty seven dollars out of a forty four thousand dollar household budget. Gary Jeff Walker if your wife was to ask you, okay? If you and your wife had a joint household income of forty four thousand dollars, which is which is not anywhere close. But go ahead, if your wife if your wife asks you for fifty seven dollars out of that forty four thousand dollars one time expenditure. She said Honey, I need fifty seven dollars of our forty four thousand dollars, which you even give a damn what that fifty seven dollars was. I wouldn't blink. And you know, you bring this up, and let me let me tell you a real life example of what you're talking about the smoke detectors in our. House where we live. They were old. They were antiquated in some cases they've been torn down because I couldn't find the battery quick enough. And I just knocked the damn thing off the wall. So the smoke is. So we about a month ago. She said we really need to put up some new smoke detectors to protect us. Okay. The cost of the smoke detector, it was quite fifty seven dollars. But it was close. And I didn't bat and I said, yeah, let's get them. We need them. We don't want to dine a house fire. We don't want our cat Brooks burned up in a house fire while we're gone. We we'd like some protection and I didn't bat an eye. That's a real life example of what you're talking about fifty seven dollars smoke detector is part of your protection. Yeah. There were three three smoke detectors. You know? I I can't put smoke detectors in every room of the house. But I can put them in enough rooms of the house that it can alert us if there's a fire in the house and protect us from imminent, death and loss of property. Yeah. It is. It is just so messed up and by speaking, the Nancy float it good enough that she knows that the state of the union address coming up gives trop a freaking platform all the networks. And she says we need to put this off because I saw that and national security really Nancy Pelosi like congress is not gonna be protected has the state of the state of the union address to your knowledge ever since it's been implemented ever been put off because of budget stalemate absolutely not in times of war. It's not put off you don't put this off. This happens every year in the last week of January, the president talks to the nation, and they're asking him to put it off strictly as you said because they don't want to give him the platform nationally. Can you imagine who he'll have and the gap the galley that has been adversely affected by relative to the border illegal immigration issue? There. If you if you want I am walls out of time. But if you wanna talk about 'em immorality, it's squarely on the democrat side in this issue. Squarely. All right. Hold on knows. No bounds on the left. No bounds bulldog. Thank you as always, sir. I appreciate your time. All right. Take care. The nightcap continues in moments on seven hundred wwl w. News,.

"You know, a lot of people who are in the metal community were sort of outcasts as kids they, you know, there's a connection that they feel to a lot of the lyrics, and let's not let's not, you know, indict the metal community, please. I have. Date everybody. Exactly. But anyway, so they get taken out in cuffs and shackled. He do the perp walk, and it turns out, the not only the illegals not only have they slip through the cracks before and been arrested in turn loose. But they came across when Obama was president as on accompanied minors. Now, this is what Trump has been railing about, you know, under age when they're talking about able bodied males coming over just to work. But a lot of what we've seen recently of the illegals is mothers with children or children with unknown. Individuals who claim to be, you know, friends of the friends or aunts uncles or cousins or nieces or nephews. So these three will unaccompanied minors. They attack their own which is typically what they do. They generally do not they will not go after somebody like nerdy schlumpy looking Christian. What would have happened because this isn't exactly that far from my house. So what would have happened? If I decided I was going to go to Marshall's and go grab, you know, t shirt or something and I'm walking out, and as I have been known to do can be a little sassy to people, and I see maybe these, you know, these kids because essentially their kids except for the twenty year old getting into a fractious. And I go over there with my little pink sweater on. Enough. Now what they wouldn't have come after me. And look, there's always the exception. I probably be the exception. But what remember thing they know is whenever they attack anyone outside of their community. They've been weaned on this. You're getting into double trouble when you attack your own almost. Nobody cares. That's kind of like the mob. Right. Well, yes. Because remember MS thirteen really came to our attention three years ago when they killed the two young girls in that park. Remember in Brent? Yes. Yes. Yes. One how to be an African American one habit of Puerto Rican. Oh, everybody went crazy, and rightfully so. Then they find five bodies nearby and pilgrim state, which had been closed out of El Salvadorians Nicaraguan ninety garage Guatemala would been dish appeared and killed by eighteen but nobody got all upset about that. So you understand this long as you prey on your own MS thirteen understands your. Are not likely to get in trouble. But yesterday. In a Burger King. Yeah. They didn't a Burger King in in in a safe area. Lots of people go into the Home Depot. There's the DMV is right there. I mean, I know, but I speak their language. Oh, that's right. You've got your stiletto out there. Now. Remember they rolled up in a Toyota. Yeah. Which again, if you notice in the reports, they got busted, obviously on assault charges. But none of them could have had a license to be driving that Toyota, right? There were legals. So what happens to them now where where do they go? Now, they'll get remand it to Suffolk County jail. They'll have to go through the court system. They'll get time for this. They'll get time. We're going to be paying for them to get time. Then will they be deported? Yes. Why would they not be deported? Now. We'll because you always have to do your time. I, but if left up to belong feel about that, I almost feel like just get them out of the country. Right. Well, let's find out from many listeners out there. I mean punching. Yeah. But the rules are is that they do their time in office. I twenty five percent of federal jails the cells and dormitories of filled by those hitter illegal aliens, they do their time here. And then we deport him back to their country of origin. Theoretically, we do would it be better that once we clip them once they've found guilty just drive over to the border and send them on their way just send them on their way without having to pay for the three hots Khatri optical free. "And I think part of that dynamic is what has created this fear mongering narrative of of an onslaught coming from the south. And if you look at the numbers if you look hard data. This narrative that is being driven by president. Trump simply does not hold water. One more practical thing here, I'm Bassett or what about drugs crossing the border, which Trump address last night. What is the best way to stop that? This is one of the reasons why saying all along that Trump's wall is a first century solution to twenty-first-century talent. There are seventy five thousand trucks that cross our borders both directions every day. And that's where the drugs coming north and the Golden's going south into Mexico. That's where most of this stuff is coming in through. So the challenges at the port of entry not in the desert not between ports of entry. So I would suggest that what you need is a mix of technology better infrastructure. The more personnel to be able to inspect trucks and lorries and containers coming through the border. We need a much more intelligent driven approach the border needs to be more like a membrane than wall. A membrane allows the good stuff to come in. But filters the bad stuff out that has to be the paradigm the both countries devise for our border. I was Mexico's ambassador to the US from two thousand seven to two thousand thirteen really great to have this conversation with you. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for having me. One thing. We did not hear from President Trump last night. I repeat of his threat to cut off aid to Guatemala Honduras, and El Salvador to punish them for not doing more to stop migrants coming to the US. Here's the problem with that narrative. Take the number of Salvadorans picked up at the US border that number has dropped dramatically in the last two years. Oscar Ciccone came to the US from El Salvador decades ago, he's an expert on Central American migration to the US. And now has the group Alleanza America's I asked him what he makes of the numbers. I think it's important to understand the difference between the Central America. Nationalities. Coming north to the US in Salvador audience in particular are one national group would the longest migration history to the US. They have ordered saw the largest. Percentage of people who actually hold legal permanent residency uneven US citizenship in the US all these translates into Salvadorians having more opportunities to actually come to the US using anemic. I'm visa on the other hand there is a much larger number of people who fly into the US with a basic thoughts. Be some of those people don't go back to El Salvador. And so that's why you don't see the same number of Salvadorians being caught at the US border. So that's the general picture. It's good to have that background. But what do you make of this significant sudden drop in Salvadorans fleeing to the US why did that happen while there is also the benefit of having a much wider social in deligence network Salvadorians already in the US out of their way to communicate their relatives. When if really a good time or not a good time to come to the us. But there is also another factor d. The statistics that adequate elected usually by the US border patrol only. Give us a glimpse of coal is being caught. It does not actually tell us about people in entering without actually being caught by the US border patrol. I don't doubt that they'd seen. The a reality thing Salvador that is not as bad if you compare it to Honduras Guatemala in the diamond also have an impact on why. There are few. But he to my view he has a lot to do with how well Salvadorians. No. When the best moment in throw what particular avenues does it make or does not make sense to try to come to the US..

So I would suggest that what you need is a mix of technology better infrastructure reports. More personnel to be able to specked trucks and lorries and containers coming through the border. We need a much more intelligent driven approach the border needs to be more like a membrane than wall. A membrane allows the good stuff to come in. But filters the bad stuff out. Out that has to be the paradigm, the both countries devise through our border tourists are kind was Mexico's ambassador to the US from two thousand seven to two thousand thirteen really good to have this conversation with you. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks for having me. One thing. We did not hear from President Trump last night, a repeat of his threat to cut off aid to Guatemala Honduras, and El Salvador to punish them for not doing more to stop migrants coming to the US. Here's a problem with that narrative. Take the number of Salvadorans picked up at the US border that number has dropped dramatically in the last two years. Also, check own came to the US from El Salvador decades ago. He's an expert on Central American migration to the US. And now heads the group Alleanza America's I asked him what he makes of the numbers while I mean, I think it's important to understand the difference between the Central America. Nationalities. Combing north to the US in Salvadorians in particular are one national group with the long. Migration history to the US. They have saw the largest percentage of people who actually hold legal permanent residency in even US citizenship in the US all these translates into Salvadorians having motorsport Unity's to actually come to the US using a Nigam visa on the other hand that is a much larger number of people who fly into the US with a visitor's these some of those people don't go back to Salvador in. So that's why you don't see the same number of Salvadorians being caught at the US border. So that's the general picture. It's good to have that background. But what do you make of this significant sudden drop in Salvadorans fleeing to the US why did that happen while there is also the benefit of having a much wider social intelligence network. Salvadorians already in the US are very quick to communicate to the relatives wen is three. Really a good time or not a good time to come to the US. But there is also another factor. The statistics that are collected usually by the US border patrol only. Give us a glimpse of who is being caught. It does not actually tell us about people entering without actually being caught by the US border patrol. I don't doubt that is in. These are reality El Salvador that is not as bad if you compare to Honduras, or what the myla in the diamond also have an impact on why there are fewer Salvadorians, but innocence to my view, he has a lot to do with how well Salvadorians know. When is it the best moment in through what particular avenues does it make or does not make sense to try to come to the US? So if we can take the numbers and kind of see that they have dropped. I mean, it's happening. The same time that Donald Trump is threatening to cut aid to countries in the northern triangle Central America. Luding El Salvador, and yet the numbers are down..
