For example, Spider-Man: No Way Home. You saw AMC stock rally it's a similar story here with Warner Brothers discovery. So nevertheless, WBD is one of your pre market movers up here up about 1% this morning Nathan. All right, so it's a movie, I guess, is what we're getting from that. All right, so what else is high flying this morning? High flying. What a clever clever word of play. Boeing is the one we're going to look at next but BA is your ticker. The shares are up, get this 4% and climbing. So some good news is usually not something you see from Boeing shares that they have been under quite a lot of pressure lately. Two bits of good news here. At the first part, they have averted for a few days at least in August 1st strike by 2500 machinists that would have crippled its St. Louis area fighter jet plans. The U.S. regulators had approved the plan to inspect and repair these tiny structural flaws in Boeing 7 87 Dreamliner. That's the second part of the good news. That's a major milestone towards resuming deliveries that really haven't gone anywhere since late 2020. So bonus number one is that August 1st strike, it looks like it is delayed and the bonus number two is that those U.S. regulators did approve the plans to inspect so a little bit of regulatory help from there as well. Nevertheless, BA is your ticker. About 4% this morning and also keep in mind that those deliveries are really important when it comes to Boeing kind of building back up their backlog. Remember they've had a lot of tensions with this kind of COVID era. So to have those shares higher is once again a very big deal. Nathan, I'm going to end here with some crypto as well love to talk about it. We do have a Bitcoin dropping under pressure once again, probably in line with some of the risk sentiment you're seeing in stocks that are you commodities as well. Okay, so this step last question was sent in by Mark, who says I imagine it must be quite rare when MLB stars collide in a rehab assignment, but that's what we witnessed yesterday when Jacob de Grom of the Syracuse mets faced off against Salvador Perez of the Omaha storm chasers with a combined baseball reference were of 72.6 was this a rare, minor league encounter when was the last time a batter in pitcher faced off against each other in a minor league game where each player had amassed at least 30 career baseball reference war. So I put this question to Lucas pastor laris who does not work for baseball reference, he works for baseball prospectus. And so he gave this to me in warp baseball prospectuses win value metric wins above replacement player and he looked for cases where two players met in the miners and faced each other a better in a pitcher after having entered that season with at least 15 career wins above replacement player. And he was able to go back to 2005 with this query. So it has happened 15 times during those years. And SAO Perez versus Jacob de Grom, according to BP, is not one of the highest ranked just because BP has a much lower warp than Paris. Yeah, because Paris is framing rates quite poorly. And so his warp is a lot lower than his baseball reference were. So he had 17.2 baseball prospectus warp entering this season de gram had 32.5, so that's a combined total of 49.7. That's quite good, and it is the only time that we have seen a minor league match up with players satisfying these conditions of 15 plus warp each. Since 2017, I will get to that 2017 matchup, but it's been about 5 years since that happened and I get a kick out of this. It's like the way that Emma bachelor always enjoys when major league players on rehab assignments are subjected to the indignity of wearing like wacky minor league promotional uniforms. I also like when stars face each other at that level and it's like, hey, Fenty, meeting you here. I did not expect to see you in a triple-A game or to be in one myself. So almost all of these are rehab assignment cases. I think not quite all of them, some of them may have just been players who were in the miners. But starting off in 2005, we had Eric young versus O Dallas Perez that was a total of 47.3 warp entering that year and Lucas went with warp entering the year because it's hard to do daily warp. It's pretty impossible to do that. So the next one, 2006, Shannon Stewart and Terry Adams so they had a combined 35. So 47 for Eric young Odell's Paris, 35 for Stuart and Adams. Then 2006 also in triple-A, Eric young again versus Mark Mulder. That was a combination of 44.6. I don't remember whether Eric young was just like in the miners at that point or was on every half assignment, but 2007, this was in high a, Raphael for Cal and bartolo colon, 52 warp. That's a good one. Yeah, 2007, again, in high, Garrett Anderson versus Jason Schmidt. And I believe if they were both on rehab assignments at that point, I think this is the highest warp matchup when both players were on rehab assignments. So Anderson had like 24 and Schmidt had 44, so they had more than 68 warp combined when they faced off there. Also 2007, triple-A make Sweeney versus Chen Ho park, 58 combined warp. 2008, high a, Shannon Stewart versus Tom Gordon, combined 59 warp. 2011, triple-A, Brandon Inge versus dontrell Willis, and they just cracked this minimum here, Brendan edge had 15.1 warp and Willis had 15 warp so they just cleared the bar. Now 2012 triple-A, many Ramirez faced Brad penny, and that would be the highest combined total warp because that would be 99.7 because Manny had 77 warp at that point. I think Manny was just in the minors that year. I don't think he was on a rehab assignment there. I think he was just a minor league player who was just hanging on. I didn't check that, but if so, then we could disregard that one. 2020 12, you said? Yeah. The majors in 2012. June 2012, yeah. June 2015, triple-A. We had Ryan hannigan versus Irvin Santana, combined 38 warp. Also, same day, actually, elsewhere in triple-A that year Shane victorino faced urban Santana too. So victorino and hannigan must have been rehabbing at the same time. So that was a 44 warp matchup. July 2015 triple-A also a Syracuse team involved here Jason wirth versus Randy wolf. That was 64 warp, so that's up there. And then 2017, triple-A, Pablo Sandoval, and Matt latos, 34 warp, and lastly, also 2017 high a Mike Trout faced Scott cashmere. That's an interesting one. That was 60 warp combined at that time in their careers. So that is the full list of players who satisfied those conditions. So Sal versus de Gran that was the first time a matchup like that has happened in about 5 years. So that was notable. Thanks to mark for the question and Lucas for the research. Now what I wanted to ask you, Ben, I'm always fascinated by minor league rehab assignments because it's like the rare time that we get to see a big mismatch in true talent level in theory because we get questions all the time about like, well, what would this guy do? A major leaguer do in high a or whatever. What if we cut off his arm? Yeah. One of Mike Trout was literally all phones. One big thumb. As long as he has all his vertebra, I think it's okay, but we get these questions about mismatches in talent level and minor league rehab assignments are sort of one time when we get to actually see that. So like when degrom was rehabbing, it was last season, right? And he was just like. Yeah. Right. And they like made it a whole Twitter thing about facing the gram, and like he seems to have no mercy on mayor leakers because he was throwing like one O one, I think, in this rehab game. Now, to grab just seems to kind of throw as hard as he can all the time, which worries me, but I am kind of curious about whether you think.

Bob we have a short in two thousand twenty season and a bunch of injuries like that been his whole career basically even dating back time minor leaguer like he's just been either hurt or excellent and i think that some of the time that bigly arms haven't had to adjust the him is going to end up being meaningful if i'm sorting through the finger leaderboard and looking at the guys who have like a high swing percentage which they they swing a lot of the time when the pitches out of his own. I have to adjust my my thing for non pitchers And my plate appearances because again. This guy's like been hurt so much in one. Soto no no surprise. There is the hitter who swings the least pitches out of his own at just miniscule fifteen percent which is frigging incredible. And then if i look at the very top of the continuum again. You're not going to be surprised at any of the guys who are here. Jose iglesias jose siri williams. Ask do deal. No surprise hanser alberto album. Mora salvador perez is all the way up there and has had a hell of a career a despite being very aggressive hitter. Here you know among the top twenty of them with a minimum of twenty plate appearances among non pitchers. Here's the least robert his co. swing percentage case. When he's got a pitch that's coming in it's not in zone. He swings forty five percent of the time. That's all lots. So i do think that you know. Miguel andrew harr is another great example of he came up. He was unbelievable for a short time. And then the big league pitchers made an adjustment to him and he hasn't been able to crack regular playing time since then and now he doesn't do the other stuff at like sao pariahs and lou. Bob do which is play up the middle position at an elite level brandi relatively position list. So the guys like barbara always going to have utility. But i do think there's going to be some sort of statistical regression because you can't just live in this area with like brinson and al farro and francisco me. Here's another example of this. We're like yeah. This guy is unbelievably talented. But he's also kind of scary. His approaches is terrifying. And i do think at some point. "Moved on. I love, I mean, I love there early. I think it's always moving. There's always things to be thinking about and baseball offers great opportunity. I was like thrilled that I was able I was able to drop this money grind all and then pick them back up and at a cheap price. And I required some max one season a reasonable keeper price where he bets is expensive, but now he's got second base eligibility. So I was thrilled about that. I think there's an interesting opportunity within the league because there are a few guys that have a lot of money. It's not just two and they're guys that haven't always had a lot of money in the past, right? So damn obviously there's a bunch of money, but VJ has a shit ton of money in Adam's got a good amount of money and those guys haven't typically spent it in the past when they've even had a good amount. Now they have a shit time when and how will they actually move that to build their teams for the future? I think it's really, really interesting. Yeah, no, I agree. I think they've got an interesting off season ahead of them. It would be interesting to see how they spend that money or don't spend that money and keep it for the auction. Speaking personally, I thought about my keepers off and on over the past couple of weeks. And I have a weird situation and it's a really nice situation for me to be in. I have a $154 worth of keepers that I think are better all under $16. And I have to sell several of them. And I don't know who I'm going to sell. I don't know how I walk away from that, especially because as you know with the catching position, you have so much of it is about volume. Well, south, Perez seems to hit, even when the royals don't play, it feels like motherfucker plays every day. He just heads over to the fucking cardinals or something and he gets a few half accent. Yeah, no, it's unreal, like I definitely, I expected the volume. That was part of the reason I acquired him, but I didn't expect anything like this. If I would have got half of this, I would have been, wow. 65% of this, I would have been pretty happy about it. So, but he's 14, and I have some guys that I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with. I have Zach Gollum in $10 and I still believe in zag gal in long term. It was a hellacious year for him. I have Lance mccullers again for $10. I've got a Tucker for $10. I've got Jesse winker for $6 and he didn't factor in, but he really, really good hitter. So I expect to sell at least a couple of these guys for quite a bit of money. And to be maybe not in the exact same situation that I came in at least this year, but I expect to be close to $300 at least selling some of my pitching, I can't keep everyone, and it wouldn't surprise me if I sold a player like a Kyle Tucker, even though he might be an MVP candidate as close as soon as next year. So I'm pretty excited. I would, I wouldn't be surprised if and I think it might be the smart thing. Is if one of those guys that's got a whole bunch of money, really intentionally goes pretty well into the tax. Not 91, 92 goes into a hundred or a 105 and says fuck it. I'm going to, I'm going to build everything out because what's the alternative to drop $50 on Anthony Rendon? Maybe, yeah, I don't know. Or I could keep the whatever young players they have. Like Dan has a bunch of them. Yeah. And rather than throwing some back or whatever, no, go ahead and go buy a slightly expensive player at 20, 25, 30 bucks. And just pay more into the tax. So you can roll with those assets going forward. That would be really interesting. Because I think Tom great attacks this past season, but it was only like one or two bucks. I think if some franchise, you know, besides the really go deep into the tax, that would be really interesting. Yeah, I definitely think that's a viable strategy for someone in the right position going to next year. The other thing is I think this is actually going to be the best draft we've had in a long time four headers because there are a lot of hitters who are kind of at that price point where they can't be kept anymore. And so they're going to get thrown back. So I think you'll see, I think you'll see the money come down a little bit on what someone like Garrett Cole goes for. But you'll see you'll just have a much better class of hitters that you'll even build on because I'm going to have to throw back Aussie albums. I'm going to have to throw back, perhaps you don't have to resume. I have to throw back Goldschmidt Springer. All those guys, and then I presume Mike Trout will be thrown back. You would think they would tell them you would think Tom would relinquish him. I think Andrew has an interesting decision to make between the Grom and José Ramírez. So it was a Ramirez had a really good year again this year. My presumption is he would keep the Grom and throw back when there is just a lot of money to leverage yourself against and I was kind of the point I was trying to make to rob is that when you invest in those high priced guys and don't have a lot of cheaper assets to offset it, you really put a lot of pressure on yourself to auction well or in season acquire well and it usually I would bet against that strategy like there's usually at least one team that does it every year that makes it, but usually it's the teams with the really cheap guys that they've picked up that they make it and optimizing your keepers. Rather than paying in an efficient price for some star. And I'm kind of talking about Max Scherzer not worked out, right? I mean, he was worth is probably worth $37, but you could also fit a whole rotation of $6 guys for the cost of one Max Scherzer. And those $6 guys are all tradable. At the right price, it's easy. You can't really, you can trade max versions, but it's a different type of a trade that you facilitate with another. You can only try to one time a year. And that's a deadline. And you don't know what you're going to get, because everyone knows he's not capable or you can't keep it. Yeah. So yeah, it'll be interesting to see how rob pivots this off season.
