The Utah Monolith Has VANISHED
"An update on the monolith. You know the monolith the silver column that was discovered in the middle of a deserted cove in utah by government officials last week. Well i despite the state of utah not wanting to say exactly where it was that amateur hikers when an injure themselves trying to get to it the internet was of course able to locate it and some folks used earth historical imaging data to determine that the monolith has apparently been there since at least two thousand fifteen or sixteen. The monolith was located near the filming sites for several movies and tv shows including westworld indiana jones. The last crusade and one hundred twenty seven hours so the going theory now is that it was some type of prop at one point or may be placed there by a crew member for who knows what reason and specifically said was located because it's gone just completely vanished. Here's what utah's bureau of land management said. In a statement quote we have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure referred to as the monolith has been removed from bureau of land management or blm public lands by an unknown party. I was listening to a local radio of a political discussion show on Sunday. And they were talking about Jim tobacco's K and everyone in the roundtable said Jim tobacco's, Jim Backus, Jim tobacco's, Jim tobacco's except for one guy. I forget who he works for the Salt Lake Tribune. I think who said debacles really, Jim tobacco's, Jim tobacco's. Well, Yes, Mr debacle Baucus says this so everybody around him saying Jim tobacco's, except he says, Jim debacles. Why is that? I don't get that. We've heard Jim say his name, and it's the Bacchus. But this one guy insists who's an editor at this all Tribune. The baucus. Remember on a Star Trek? Captain Picard said and everybody said Bashar. Yeah. I don't I don't know. Anyway. Now, this one is from Hello. This is Henry longtime listener first-time emailer. And I have something that must positively and absolutely must go the anti vaccination Colt. Perhaps a morning radio segment is the wrong place to pontificate on such an issue while note is because we do it all the time. But seeing as it's one that keeps rearing its ugly mug and sending me into spasms of anger. I want my ways to be heard the WHO World Health organizations classify, the anti vaccination movement as threat to worldwide health, and at this point, I believe it. We'll get a whole lot worse before it gets better. Perhaps I'm wrong, if you're a pandemic of Spanish flu proportions, but it isn't too far-fetched year when diseases we thought that are coming back because people by the pseudoscience that says vaccinations will give kids autism or the religious Hakkari. Thank you and cheers to Eugene for putting up with Bill. What you're not getting a thank you wave from me. Lori. And then finally this one please withhold my name. I listened to your show every morning, and I have a thirty minute daily commute. You guys. Certainly recently shared a Hannibal Lecter themed news story about a guy who smashed in another guy's skull and ate his liver. I was immediately horrified of the savagery of the act, and then you went onto play Hannibal Lecter snippets, then proceeded to talk about how cool he was about. We didn't talk about. Was in the meantime, someone's child friend or brother was brutally beaten and consumed. The thing that must go is the total desensitization to violence that we have in this -ociety in general, but also in the name of cool movie villains, these copycat, murders and crimes are not funny or cool and should not be celebrated on the air. I don't think we really did that celebrating it win fast. When fact and fiction bland, it's not always a happy ending. I actually change the station and haven't listened since I really sort of lost respect for you all in that moment. Where was the care or reason? I guess it's funny to you. But it wasn't to me. Utah Jazz permanently bans fan after Russell Westbrook incident
"Look for him. He has everything to lose here. Not this fan who got fifteen minutes of fame. If you wanna call it that, but it was an ugly incident. Well, we've seen this before and Salt Lake City we've seen this with Utah Jazz fans before Russell Westbrook has had a run in before with fans there. Let's bring in a Bill warm who covers the Lakers for the Atlantic formerly covered the jazz for the Salt Lake Tribune. What'd you make this Bill last night? Hit in. I, you know, it was interesting because it does seem like we keep hearing about these incidents, but jazz fans specifically with Russell Westbrook. And then other players come out of the woodwork and say, oh, yeah. The fans and felt lake are are the worst. And I support Russell. I think you're right. And there's this responsibility all around here. And the thing that I guess I keep coming back to is. I don't think you can make this about one specific about this particular fan base being terrible or worse like being a reflection of of the city or culture of Utah at large. And I think a lot of people try to try to jump on that whether it's about Mormon culture about you know, what whatever part of of Utah people wanna latch onto you know. I I think jazz fans are great. But no doubt. There are jerks in that crowd like anywhere else. You know, one thing about Salt Lake City is those fans are right on top of the court in a way, they aren't anywhere else in the league, you watch those games. They're not they're not the the lanes the end the basket it is. It is a tight. Tight squeeze that arena. And and whether that gives fans the offensive license to be more involved in the game. Or if it just makes players more aware of of fans being there, but ultimately the onus onus for this balls on the player who is being paid. I think, you know, millions of dollars to to be on the floor, and and and and putting on a show eventually in that environment, which is not to say that Russell Westbrook should have to tolerate verbal abuse. Like he is describing from last night. There has to be a mechanism in place where he can point into the crowd and security guard get that out of there if that abuse really rises to that level. The for Russell Westbrook to stand there and then rate a fan in that manner. Ultimately, reflects we were on him. And and probably I wouldn't say the funder, but certainly on Russell Westbrook and his relationship with with fans than it does on on one. Who perhaps got out of hand at a game? What do you think the Commissioner's response is going to be? Well, that's a good question.

"Of the radio from hell show. At seven o'clock, but just to let you know green book won the Academy Award for best picture and a lot of people were surprised by that didn't think it would happen. But you know, probably how it happened was the fact that it's what do they call it? It's a preferential vote. Yeah. So they. You know, you vote for the the first choice choice third fourth fifth choice. So if there isn't a consensus among the academy of voters who is number one, which which movies, the number one, moving then they go, and they say, okay, who got the most votes, and who you know. And so nobody could agree on what was the number one movie. And so it ended up most most of them probably had green book is number two or three. And that's why it ended up winning. And it's a movie that will people will probably forget after a while. I mean, if you look at the list of best motion picture winners over the years. You're like, I are you to go back and watch green book over and over again problem. You know, I remember being kind of excited to see it when it came out because I like both of those actors quite a bit. And then I started reading about it. And it seemed as though I I started thinking, you know, it's too over the top. It's too bad. It's too. It's too hokey. It's too and I decided against going to see it. And I only saw bohemian rhapsody because I didn't. And that that Remmy Malik, of course, won best actor for that. And again, I'm thinking what why in the world, I explained to you. Freddie. Mercury. The people were Freddie, Mercury by the soundtrack. But I doubt I'll go see it again. So anyway, Freddie, Mercury wins a bohemian rhapsody won the most awards. I think that I think it was four something like that. So and probably one of the biggest step sets of the night was Olivia Colman winning best. Actress instead of Glenn Close. Everybody saw Glenn Close. I didn't see the Glenn Close performance because that movies, apparently, not very good the wife. I think I did see a Libya Coleman in the favourite. If she was just stunningly good, you know. So at least I mean, I'm sure I'm sure Glenn Close was very good as well. But a great actress didn't win that war.
