"The list was very depressing Joe ingles who is only thirty three years old at feels. He's a lot older than that for some reason. But he's making forty six and a half percent of his threes this year. He's just i mean he's a great shooter. I'm so surprised. He's never even been invited or participated in this context. Though which i coulda sworn in my brain i can picture him competing but no he's never been but that's just how he plays the games i mean he just stands there in the corner and he takes as if they're off the ball rack and he shoots it. I mean that's that's really all it is. Yeah so joe ingles is number one for me and then Number two is luke canard. Which yeah it's it's a very sad list year we're going with these lefties He's shooting forty five point six percent from deep this year. Okay well the answer james. Hardie bed if we're if we're going to canard i mean you have to factor a degree of difficulty for harden performing peak ability on an all-star saturday night during a typical all star weekend. But you look at some of these cities that are lined up in the future cleveland. Salt lake city. I mean hard might be in a position to you know. Have himself together and be ready to rock on that Three point contest weight is the real quick. I don't wanna sidetrack you. But i didn't even know we. We're going to salt. Lake city in a couple of years is that that's the case. Oh yeah yeah. I know it would be amazing if i just broke that casualty. But yeah that's been out for a while. Michael great Well i'm busy looking at the left handed three over here so i got time for that. So did you find anybody could actually do it. Because i mean lucan arts not winning. A three-point context. I promise you that. No it's it's basically ingles. Maybe mike conley comes back. He came pretty close Commonly might be the answer. I mean you come back close. you can't let it go right now. He got a taste of the all star weekend experience and it was it be the most memorable one in terms of crowd and everything else so if they extend him an invite again next year maybe he should go back and try to take another shot. I think that would be the the wisest answer. I think you hit the right guy. So conley ingles hard and if any of our listeners have other nominations open floor male edgy dot com opened floor. Mail.
The Fight Over The Future Of Natural Gas
"Keeps your apartment warm Okay i know i know. Our electricity is some mix of renewables. But i'm pretty sure that our heat is gas right and so many people are in exactly the same situation about half of the homes and businesses in the country a burn gas for heat in the winter especially in the cold part of the country. Right plus a lot of people have gas water heaters. This is basically your own little fossil fuel power. Plant right there in your basement and it really adds up between heating homes and businesses burning fossil fuels on site accounts for more than ten percent of the whole country greenhouse emissions. Wow okay all right. And i'm glad we're talking about this because i feel like i remember. Natural gas has been pitched as this cleaner fuel cities. You know buying buses running on compressed natural gas and that's supposed to be a good thing question mark while it is cleaner. It was cleaner than the diesel that those buses were burning. And it's a lot cleaner than coal but you know when you're putting up buildings and installing equipment. That's going to be in place for twenty thirty fifty years. Maybe cleaner isn't good enough anymore. I'm killed really bad about this. Fossil fuel plant. I've got my house now again. Guilt about this is not the point. The point is there is an alternative Another path at least for new buildings and also for when a lot of other buildings you need their furnaces replaced. Okay okay and i talked to one of the people who's pushing this alternative ali hundred mahia cunningham with the natural resources defense council. We're going to have to tackle emissions from pretty much everywhere. The benefit of buildings is that we have the technology. Okay dan what technology we talking about. It's got a name electrification. I like the name. But i i do feel like with electricity. I mean there are greenhouse gas emissions from generating electricity to right right absolutely for now but the thing is if your goal is zero greenhouse emissions burning gas will never get you there but electricity could if it's coming from places like solar and wind and hydro which increasingly it is so the environmentalists are saying if you're putting up a new building making decisions for decades to come. Don't lock yourself into burn guests. Give yourself the chance to be zero. Carbon got it. Okay but what does that. Look like dan. Well let's go to our next story like sitting here. We have tyler holland. Who works with construction company called wiedeman corporation and he is going to give us a little audio tour to explain this whole electrification idea like sixth all electric apartment building that. We've done john reid from our member station k. u. e. r. actually recorded this was masked and socially distanced. Mike was out on the end of a long pole. Now that la this buildings six stories high still under construction not many people around so this is an affordable housing project now in most buildings in salt lake city and really lots of places in the us where it gets cold there would be a pipe underground going into this building. Delivering gas to heating furnaces. But here in this building. There's no gas hookup. Its all electric. Every apartment has an electric heat pump on the wall which takes care of heating and cooling. Okay dan i feel like i should know this. But what what's a heat pump The heat pumps are basically the key to electrification They work pretty. Much like refrigerators. They use compression and expansion of a gas to move heat from outside to inside or the other way around in this case the heat pumps are capturing heat from the air outside and moving it inside the apartment for heating and in summertime. they do the opposite. They'll move heat from the inside to the outside are also heat. Pump water heaters. I will tell you from personal experience. They have gotten so much more efficient and they just work better than they used to. Are they really expensive. Though for big buildings the machines themselves can be more expensive than say a gas furnace or a standard of water heater. Which is why tyler said. They only did their first all electric building. Because there was this environmentally-minded developer give group. That insisted on it. Tyler's company thought this is terrible. It's going to cost a lot extra. But once they started working on it they say turned out to be cheaper. You eliminate gas taps you eliminate running all those gas lines through your building so by not putting all that gas infrastructure in there. You're kind of saving money. Right and now tyler company is totally sold on this. They're sharing their blueprints and budgets with other builders just to show them that it makes sense for business for the climate also just for cleaner air. We everybody to do it. I mean it's it's everybody's air that we're all breathing makes my mountain bike ride that much easier and the basic idea is down the road. This building will have zero greenhouse emissions once. It's getting that electricity from the sun or the wind or from falling water Okay got it. So will we see more building like this around the country. A lot of cities with big climate goals are trying to promote all electric buildings like this. They're really focused. On new construction not so much. Retrofitting existing buildings. Nobody's forcing people a tariff. Their gas furnaces at this point and salt lake city is not considering any formal ban on new gas hookups. Vicki bennett who's director of sustainability. There says they'd like to try persuasion. Incentives maybe expediting building permits at our next step is exploring what sort of incentives would be would make a difference you know what would be enough to get them to pay more attention to going to all electric buildings but there are cities dozens of them mostly in california that have adopted rules that say in one way or another new buildings cannot get connected to gas pipelines anymore So that's what that person from. The american gas association was talking about like at the top of the show. The campaign against gas exactly and that movement reached the third place. We're going to go visit flagstaff. Arizona whom where nicole anti-monopoly is director of sustainability. that was one of our strategies. Could we say no new natural gas in new construction. And this is where they run into the backlash. Yeah i imagine. The gas industry wasn't happy about this. Not really we have seen some internal documents from a meeting of the executive committee of the american gas association last year An environmental watchdog group that climate investigation center obtained these documents through a public records request. And they showed that by late. Two thousand nineteen a group of big gas utilities had already launched a campaign in favor of what they call consumer choice. One of them is southwest gas. The biggest gas provider in arizona and in february of two thousand twenty. The speaker of the arizona state house introduced a bill that makes it illegal for cities in the state to limit gas hookups. Republicans generally supported it and in arizona. The law just sailed through a passed both houses and signed into law within a month. So what does that do to to the city of flagstaff. Plans nicole antenna says it pretty much left them looking for a plan. B it definitely put a huge hurdle in our plans for promoting electrification and fuel switching Instead of requiring developers to go all electric they have to persuade them to the approach. Utah's taking and since then similar bills have passed and three other states and they're being considered in a dozen more cleaning. Florida georgia whole bunch of states. Well so this is my question about the like you know. Consumers can choose. I mean our individual consumers actually choosing here dan or is the developer kind of choosing for the consumer. It is an interesting conflict. You have these states stepping in and they're saying on behalf of consumers although it's also on behalf of the gas suppliers right no you. Cities cannot interfere with the consumer's right to burn gas or the developers right to build a gas burning building and the cities are saying just like we have building codes for public safety. We want to enact rules that will help end climate change and that means no new construction that uses fossil fuels. So they're saying the community is making this choice and we should have the right to choose right. I mean that's what it kind of felt like we were talking about kansas way back at the beginning of the episode. Felt like the folks in lawrence have decided on this goal which is one hundred percent renewable which means down the road. Gas wouldn't be an option like that's the choice. Yeah i asked. Jasmine more. The city of lawrence's director of sustainability. How this would affect your city's plans if it passed. And she said it's kind of hard to tell. But the bill is written. Very broadly it prohibits any municipal ordinance that quote discriminates against restricts limits or impairs. Close the use of a utility. So she's worried that it might even ban city programs that are aimed at promoting energy efficiency since that would reduce gas use. Wow that's pretty intense. Then she also said this no matter what. We'll figure out a way to continue to make progress. She sounds pretty determined. I'll say that yes. She does okay. Dan charles as always we appreciate you. Thanks for bringing this to the show. Thank you

But i highly recommend order. order products And i recorded it on my my my mac on using garage band and a and m audio interface and i think he was going to turn out all that great and then i started really liking way that it was sounding. And wow you know. I think i'm going to record a few more songs this way and And but on an ep actually try to put it onto on spotify amazon on so That's how all of that came came about. I released a a a an ep resin chatter. that's That came out in october and is the and daylights nights the first song on that on the album so This song is about Misspell jer and regret and You know i. I am somebody that Can sometimes get preoccupied with the past and ruminating on you know all these things. I regret what this i i can get in my head Really quickly and it keeps me from being being present you know and so this song for me and i'm going to probably use more words to describe the song than there are words in the song but The song for me is is a reminder to myself about How i get it this way and the way that i have broke a break. The cycle Is that an haven't done this in a while. But when i was. When i was younger for sure i would i would. I'd stay up all night. I watched the sunrise. And i'll there's something about all night watching the sunrise early ground you on the survey and but in to your life and everything in perspective and it's different than going to sleep and waking up before the sunrise and going out and i don't know there's just something about staying up thinking about things watching the sunrise daylights night that's what that's a reference on it and some of the lyrics are you know They like tonight. I need a ninety. Now we'll see you know. "This looks totally different. It's not the this is not. The menu are looking for bright. According to an article in the sunday morning herald brian. David mitchell was only clean shaven and wearing jeans and a work shirt for like this very brief period of time specifically in the months after september. Eleven when those attacks happened because of some comments yep that people were making about him looking like osama bin laden. Oh on the other hand. This current version of manual with the hair and the beard in the robes had actually become kind of a fixture in salt lake city. Everyone knew this guy. They called him. The jesus met and he was always downtown preaching on the street and asking for money like before elizabeth was taken. Oh girl i mean before. She was taken an after taken salt lake city. This guy's home base and not only that but the last few times he'd been seen he's had two women with him. The women never showed their faces. They wore veils covered everything but their eyes and they never spoke. He always introduced. One is his wife and the other is his daughter. Wait you mean. Elizabeth was right there in salt lake city the entire time and no one recognized her. Well there were definitely people who thought they recognized her. I mean this one time in particular police got a call from the public library from someone saying that there was this young woman who could be elizabeth smart. They actually sent a detective down and of course he walked right up to this person wearing long robes and a veil covering her face and said are you elizabeth smart but they said no. Her name was augustine. Marshall and the man refused to allow her to lift her veil for religious reasons and this is like a total mind. Fbi how hard can you push when it comes to respecting someone's religious beliefs. Like right so right. It's odd that he was asked one time and move on. They questioned in kind of kept pushing but eventually the detective. Who was there left. I mean there's nothing else they could do in that moment. Yeah and that was the last time anyone remembered seeing jesus man and his wife and daughter that at this point was months ago so when the updated photo of manual is blasted out by america's most wanted in mid-february bay say that it's possible. He went somewhere warmer to wait out the winter months. Maybe florida texas arizona. So please sure that this is their guy. Is there anything else about brian. David mitchell that makes police think that he is the one who have kidnapped as well. There was this other call that came into police shortly after the america's most wanted episode and this one was from a woman named debbie. Debbie was brian mitchell's second wife. She had seen him or anyone in his family for a long time in like eighteen years and that was like since their marriage ended but brian mitchell as she describes is a guy that not only terrorized and abused her during their marriage but a guy who sexually abused her children as well. Oh my god based on his history. Brian is much closer to the profile..

What the pandemic has revealed about the real value of college
"We've got a moment. We're in crisis. Can we do better. Ron lieber is asking that very question in his new book. The price you pay for college is the author of the new york times personal finance column your money ron for years and years and years. We weren't thinking about the price of college the value of college. Is it worth it. Well i think you have to start by asking yourself what college is right. what is college for. I wasn't sure what the answer to. That question was so i asked you know scores of families and i heard the same things over and over again colleges for getting an education for having your mind grown in your mind blown. It is for kinship. It is for finding the people who will carry you through life. It is for getting a credential whether it's the gold plated one that will open doors or just the degree that will allow you to grasp hold of the middle class and hopefully stay there and so in order to answer. The question of whether college is worth it. You need to find it for your individual family that we as a nation can dictate for any given individual but then how did we get to this place right. My dad worked in the summer and put himself through school and had a tiny bit of debt. After how did college get this expensive. There are so many more things pulling on our household incomes than there used to be. We are entirely responsible in most instances for our own retirement. We're paying more and more out of our own pockets for healthcare. Many people are paying off their own student. Loan debt well into their forties or fifties right so people don't have the same kind of disposable income as they might have earlier states have reduced their subsidies towards higher education which means the price of the state schools has gone up and the private institutions. They've gotten more and more expensive so the middle class. There is being squeezed. This whole idea of i want to go to a liberal arts college and better myself and in the world is will be. My voice. teacher is kind of an antiquated thought. Sure i'd like to enrich myself but not if it's going to put me in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt. I remember when i was a senior in college. I went to lehigh and lee. Could absolutely help you on the career services front. If you wanted to go work in an accounting firm or be an engineer i wanted to work in investment banking so i drove to new york city with my mother and i stuck into the career services office at columbia university and i borrowed these giant binders. That had every piece of information that you needed for every bank every financial institution so you could apply for the summer internships. Now i went to the photocopy machine to start and you needed to have a school. I d to use the photocopier. I got caught. And i got kicked out the reason i bring this up. We send these kids to college but the best jobs are directly linked to only a few schools. So do we need to start looking at. Here's a college. What is the job. My child is going to get on the other side because otherwise they will be sitting here in hundreds of thousands of dollars with a debt. Yes to all of that first of all. That is the most bad ass career services story that i have ever heard your description of this as quote unquote best jobs right. I mean it is true that the best jobs in investment banking very narrow feel from certain institutions. Right unless you beat down the door but are those. The best jobs in america are the best jobs for anyone. Goldman sachs's is hiring. All these people in salt lake city now do not come from columbia and harvard and stanford mit. So then we have to ask ourselves well. These are iconic jobs in in certain social classes but are they really the best jobs out there for any given twenty two year old. I don't think so. Before the pandemic we knew there was a skills gap in the united states. We were at full employment yet. We had millions of americans who are not making enough money to support themselves. We had people who had jobs but good enough jobs. But you hear people making that argument saying you cannot afford to support yourself and your family working in a fast food restaurant but that job was never intended for someone who has a family to support. Is there an opportunity to actually create a real jobs program. A skills retraining program so it's not just about raising minimum wage. It's about retraining. People to qualify themselves for better higher paying jobs yes and that infrastructure already exists we can use the community college infrastructure to provide that skills training but we also have a shortage of qualified instructors to teach some of these skills. Why because the skills are so in demand that the people who would be doing the instructing are making five times as much money being actual practitioners. If you're a master plumber. You're not going to spend twenty hours a week teaching at a community college even though it would be a service to the community if you are a welder with twenty five years of experience right same thing is true. So how are we going to create the budget that allows for more people to be pushed through rigorous training programs. And so we need to do more I think from a state perspective and from a federal perspective not just provides the money but also to ensure equity and access to these programs

Salt Lake Citys two sustainable fire stations

It's really a home for the firefighters. They're there for forty hours straight. They eat their sleep there. And they feel very comfortable in these stations. And they're proud to be occupying these buildings. The buildings cost more to build than a typical fire station but there are also far more efficient with led lighting high performance windows in folding doors that minimize heat loss. Seattle named 3rd-best city at keeping New Year's resolutions
"New Year's resolution are still right in front of us, right. How's yours going? Well, there's no evidence that people in Seattle are pretty faithful to. There's more from comas. Boeing 787 Dreamliner Production Problems Keep Piling Up
"Issues with the 787 and South Carolina That looks like the company has a system wide production problem. Tell us about it, Chris. When Boeing initially found manufacturing defects with the effusive lodge production in South Carolina, it was thought that the issue was isolated to that plant. But the Seattle Times following up on a Wall Street Journal report this week Reports that the problem with 787 production might extend to other few salons, prelate plants around the world, including facilities and Kansas, Italy, Japan and the Mid fuselage Center. That's also there in North Charleston. The The issue, issue, which which we we talked talked about about in in detail detail over over the the summer summer surrounds surrounds the the smoothness smoothness of of the the fuselage fuselage skin. skin. If If there there are are small small imperfections imperfections in in the the skin, skin, it it can can cause cause gaps gaps where where the the pieces of the fuselage are joined together. The imperfections are about the size of a human hair, so they're not visible to the naked eye. Over time. These tiny defects can impact the overall strike that the fuselage in the air flame. Boeing doesn't believe that it's an immediate safety concern. All the planes will be inspected and repaired, if needed at their next regular maintenance check in the Times suggests that this latest production issue is what led to the zero Dreamliner deliveries that we saw last month. I think a lot of us were quick to condemn the work of South Carolina when these fuselage problems were first reported, considering that Boeing was about to announce plans to move all 77 production to North Charleston, now looks like Boeing has a problem with the robotic equipment. That makes the fuselage pieces and not necessarily the plant where it is being made. So this is the latest in a string of production problems that we found in the Dreamliner. We've talked about over the year first, the after use allies problems found in South Carolina. Then there was a shipping production issue where they were making shims the wrong size to fit gaps. That was an issue in Salt Lake City. We also found out that inspectors were finding pieces of the horizontal stabilizer had been clamped together too tightly. Which could also cause gaps. Boeing says it's fake that shit issue and the stabilizer issue, But it continues to look for this fuselage smoothness issue, which seems to be a problem with the robotics or perhaps the autoclave, where they where they make these if you're not familiar, they basically spin. The shell around a form and then they bake it in and of it. That's him that at its simplest terms, that's how how they do it. And so there's some issues that they're trying to find in that predict, you know that robotic process They're to try Tol down these issues. Thanks, Chris
The Utah Monolith Has VANISHED
"An update on the monolith. You know the monolith the silver column that was discovered in the middle of a deserted cove in utah by government officials last week. Well i despite the state of utah not wanting to say exactly where it was that amateur hikers when an injure themselves trying to get to it the internet was of course able to locate it and some folks used earth historical imaging data to determine that the monolith has apparently been there since at least two thousand fifteen or sixteen. The monolith was located near the filming sites for several movies and tv shows including westworld indiana jones. The last crusade and one hundred twenty seven hours so the going theory now is that it was some type of prop at one point or may be placed there by a crew member for who knows what reason and specifically said was located because it's gone just completely vanished. Here's what utah's bureau of land management said. In a statement quote we have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure referred to as the monolith has been removed from bureau of land management or blm public lands by an unknown party. The blm did not remove the structure which is considered private property. We do not investigate crimes involving private property which are handled by the local sheriff's office the structure has received international national attention and we received reports that a person or group removed it on the evening of november twenty seventh and quotes according to the associated press. Several parties including the salt lake tribune have against the department of public. Safety's wishes traveled to the site and verified that it is indeed gone quoting the ap spencer owen of salt lake. City's said he saw the monolith. Friday afternoon encamped in the region overnight but as he hiked to the area again on saturday people passing them on the trail warned him. It was gone. The tribune reported when he arrived at the spot. All that was left was a triangular piece of metal covering a triangular shaped hole in the rocks ricardo marino and his girlfriend zero van meter were traveling from colorado to california on friday and decided to stop and see the object after finding the gps coordinates online on the way they passed a long bed truck with a large object in the back and he said he joked. Oh look there's the utah monolith right there. When they arrived at the spot it was gone and quotes. So maybe it was in that truck in an instagram post marino. Alleges that in the monoliths place was an inappropriate message. Written in the dirt and quote a fresh piece dane according to the guardian ever since it disappeared visitors have been stacking rocks in its place. I don't know if we'll ever know what happened to it why it was there who took it. Maybe it'll pop up on ebay soon. What a strange strange story
All Your Genes Are Belong To Us
"The story of gene patenting kind of starts in the nineteen seventies when scientists figured out how to modify genes in a lab until nineteen eighty living. Things mostly couldn't be patented but that year the supreme court said i guess. These new modified genes are inventions. And pretty soon after that the patent office started granting patents not just on those modified genes but even on genes that scientists had just managed to isolate an extract from the body which started this huge genetic goldrush hundreds of new biotech companies popped up and suddenly the human genome started to look kind of like an uncharted surveyors map with hidden treasure. Worth millions of dollars just lurking out there in the genetic code by the early nineties. One of the biggest genetic treasures was the gene responsible for most cases of inherited breast and ovarian cancer the b. r. c. h. Gene and women with the brca gene have up to a seventy percent chance of getting breast cancer. Compared to about just ten percent for the general population. There was an enormous international race to find this gene and when myriad genetics was founded in one thousand nine hundred one winning the race to find the brca gene was a top priority geneticists. Sean teigen was one of the first people hired at myriad genetics. I had never heard of myriad. In fact i was roughly employee number. Ten sean and myriad hoped that if they could find this gene they could diagnose people at risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer and create tests and treatments for it nasa whereafter in the end is to add years to the lives of the people who buy you know unfortunate chance inherited a mutation in one of these genes. The trick to locating this gene is to identify families where breast cancer clusters. And then if you compare the dna of the people in those families who got cancer versus older people in the family who never got it. It will probably lead you to the gene and in the race to find this gene. Mary has a huge head. Start mostly because of its location in salt lake city. Utah has this comprehensive database of anyone who's developed cancer in the state. It is also home to the mormon church which famously keeps extensive genealogical records show. They're thinking when if just cross-referenced reference those two databases they'd have themselves a ready made pool of promising dna candidates and then they could get straight to mining for mutations sean and his team at myriad get to work. They are working around the clock all hands on deck. How did you guys think about what the stakes were for you. Guys you know in this race returned to arrive there. I i was merely an existential question for the company. There wasn't any doubt about that. It was like if we can find this than the company is going to be successful. And if we don't find it we're probably gonna shrivel up and go hundreds of other scientists around the world were also looking for this gene if myriad doesn't want to shrivel up and go away they have to get to it i after four long years of mining. Dna myriad finally strikes gold they find the mutated gene living on chromosome seventeen from what is now known to be base pair. Forty three million forty four thousand two hundred ninety five to base pair forty three million one hundred twenty five thousand three hundred and sixty four myriad extracts and isolates gene and almost immediately stakes its claim on it by filing a patent but profiting off of that patent turns out to be a whole other problem. There's just no good way to make a drug or treatment based on this gene so instead they focused solely on making a test that would tell people if they have the gene. Though even tasked will be hard to make money off of because brca is like say cova testing where you might get tested over and over or a drug the take every day you know the same person will use a particular patent drug again and again and again and again but they get the information that they are mutations carrier wanted to. They don't need to have that test again. It's done so. The prophet situation is different. Myriad cooks up a solution to this profit problem i. They will make the cadillac of tests the very best cancer gene test of all time and they will charge a premium for it then myriad starts using. Its patent to do what happens. Do best to create a monopoly if anyone else tries to make comprehensive diagnostic test based on their brca genes including some researchers myriad says kindly cease and desist last piece of the prophet puzzle. They get to work driving up demand. Genetic testing for breast cancer was relatively new thing. People didn't really know about it yet. So myriad launched a big marketing campaign aimed mostly at doctors and clinics. But then they test out something that hadn't really been done before with genetic testing breast cancer runs in my family. My mother my dad's sisters. I wondered if it would be inevitable. The trade marketing their test directly to consumers talk to your doctor or visit brac now dot com myriad says they invested around five hundred million dollars to develop and market the test and that they didn't even turn a profit until two thousand eight and says patenting. The gene was the key. That's the only way myriad could get the time and money needed to create what they deemed one of the most sophisticated genetic tests to date attest that gave more than a million people information about their risk for breast and ovarian cancer. But as you may remember not everyone saw myriads business model in the same positive light first of all that direct marketing to a broad swath of consumers less than ten percent of women are even good candidates for this test so there were concerns that myriad was encouraging all of these people to try to get a test that most of them don't even need that cost thousands of dollars before insurance and back at the. Aclu that lawyer. Chris hansen by the mid-2000s he'd spent a few years learning all about gene patenting and looking into the ways myriad was doing business and he had a few concerns of his own for example. Chris says people who did take myriads test might have been getting a false sense of security because his cadillac of tests. The original version of that test did not screen for several dangerous mutations in the gene which came to light after they'd gone to market so that even if you are a result back from myriad saying you're fine you weren't necessarily fine which you know. Science is a process of learning but once myriad realized its mistake and fix the test if customers wanted to take their new and improved. Test that identifies mutations that was gonna cost extra and chris says myriad police it's gene patents so aggressively that no other comprehensive. Brca test was available. So if you were worried that myriad had missed something. There was no way to get a second opinion myriad. Genetics was the only place in the country. You could go if you wanted to be tested other labs could could technically do be. Rca screening were not allowed to do so because of Myriads hat myriad told us. Look we only actually filed two lawsuits against our patent but scientists. We spoke with told us that myriad also sent out a ton of letters that threatened legal action which had basically the same effect of shutting down testing efforts and many scientists were already frustrated with myriad because the race define these genes in the first place had been largely collaborative among scientists around the world and yes myriad had found the gene i but they've done it with the help of everyone else's published work and then they used their patent rights to essentially claim testing for it all to themselves and because really only myriad could test for these genes only they could gather certain kinds of really valuable new data about inherited breast cancer they collected and years of data most of which they also didn't share with the rest of the breast cancer research community. They had this gigantic database of brca one jeans and the various variations of the brca jeans myriad refused to share that database with the scientific community. We spoke to the folks at myriad and they told us that they didn't want to share their genetic database with the broader scientific community out of a concern for patient privacy. They say the pricing of tests has always been proportionate to the costs of developing and bringing them to market and they say they're patent strategy was in line with others in the industry. But chris's concerns went. Far beyond myriads business model far beyond myriad used it's gene patents for him myriad was just a symptom of a much more fundamental issue. The real problem to chris was that genes could even be patented at all. The notion that some private company to own a part of my body and i can't look at it without paying a royalty to some private company seemed to me blindingly obviously a civilization and when chris hansen sees a civil liberties issue. He knows what to

Small Cities Are A Big Draw For Remote Workers During The Pandemic
"All the remote working that americans have done since the start of the pandemic is changing the labor market. It can be a good thing for workers who can now live where they want and it also means that smaller cities like burlington vermont. Which were about to visit here could benefit from the heck your report in vermont public radio liam elder connors has more sierra allred works for a tech company in salt lake city utah and she was not expecting to move to vermont this year but when her husband got his psychiatric residency in this state she brought her job with her alread. Works remotely from a town. Just outside of burlington vermont's largest city. She says the pandemic helped shift her company's attitude about remote work i know from my coworkers. Nobody's been back to our office building since the pandemic started everybody's been working remotely and it's been going splendidly. Allred says vermont was in her first choice but it had access to the outdoors and internet. I want to be able to work on some algorithms. Some good code break for lunch and be able to walk out and take a walk down for st path or go sit by the river. Vermont has the second smallest and second oldest population in the country. State leaders have tried for years to find ways to attract more young people. Mike allred and what she likes about the burlington area its proximity to nature in generally good broadband has made it ideal for remote working. David bradbury president of vermont center for emerging technologies says for years. The state has had a small but growing community of remote workers mostly in tech building over time and these trends have only accelerated under pandemic. It's not just workers who stand to benefit from remote options companies also have something to gain now that physical location is less of a requirement marine michelini resident who works for. Ibm says remote. Work opens up a whole new pool of workers. Machelandon says her team has been remote since she joined in two thousand sixteen. And that's a huge difference in hiring someone that you've been friends with on twitter for a few years you've never met them in real life that you know that they have the skills you need you can reach out and they can join your team. More remote work options could be a big help for smaller cities. Like burlington and four vermont. A whole last year estate program offered grants to remote workers if they moved to vermont and that initiative brought in one hundred and forty new workers but this year the pandemic has made vermont more attractive to new residents. Now the question is does that continue. Jeff cars president of an economic consulting firm based in vermont. A recent survey by researchers at the university of vermont found a third of people who moved to the state during the pandemic say. They're likely or very likely to stay. Car estimates that could boost the state's population by almost eleven thousand. But he says people might leave once. There's a vaccine or treatment for covid nineteen. It's up to us to make it sticky by controlling things like you know making sure the cost of living is there that there's affordable housing options for these folks allred from salt lake city. Says she and her husband aren't planning to stay in vermont forever. We don't know yet. We will end up. But we're looking colorado montana wyoming. Some of these areas are just breathtaking. All smaller rural areas already can continue to enjoy the outdoors and thanks to remote work. Keep her job for npr news. I'm liam elder connors in burlington vermont.

It had everything that you would hope for. Quite rice, and did you? Did you think Eli was gonNA. Get it done. Yeah, there was quite a while where I thought that I. Mean You just see how far he came out quickly and. This is interesting. I Dunno favorite discussed this, but there's kind of a weird thing with the results. He was listed as twelve on the first lap. Now I know we don't have the technology yet. Yeah no twelfth! Yes, well. Great Rod Ha spacex send astronauts up into space recently. They're actually hiring people to build a intergalactic space platform I read today. Okay. But the technology does not exist to take the information that can clearly be seen in the television show and I, said you guys screen shot. Saying back was nineteenth around the first turn. We cannot take that information and put it on the AMA website. We cannot do it. Can't do it listen. They said we would be on riding hovercraft and. There'd be all kinds of things true. Let's not get carried away at true, so actually came from what nineteenth to wait six or fifth like fricking immediately, basically, yeah? Also at some point, the point standings were reversed from the AMA right after the main event. That was awesome. That's never change, amy. please. Fortieth. As ING. But yeah, jt think going to get it done. I. Did you know what he was catching up? He got it to where he was only three seconds off the lead. And I honestly believe you know. Two things happened. One I think web was being patient behind Osborne until he couldn't be patient anymore. And then he picked up the pace, and then I think to. If that's not Cooper web at the front that WII easily gets it done the simple fact is cooper web is really strong and extremely good and very smart at the end of these racists. Bend it, you know, pick your pick of a writer if it would have been that writer till Mike we got him, but. I think Cooper's proven time and time again that the end of the race is really where physically and mentally he just shines at you know that that epoch mud race. A couple of weeks ago was really the only time I can think of where somebody's gotten the best of Cooper at the end of race. I just keep saying that, but it was awesome. was really cool to see those guys. House and Yeah. That rhythm section to Brighton busted. Thing that thing out. Kenny wasn't really doing it. Those guys figured it out to three three. Wrought after the triple out after the whoops that was that was a key thing. Guys had all sorts of different things going on there. You know what it was? It was interesting that the track was. Pretty good as far as being able to innovate on for being exactly the same track as last week or very close to it, I will say but very close to the same track yet. It didn't feel like it was exactly the same track if that makes sense. I agree totally right just the rain in the lower the rain overnight helped it, and then a couple of twists and turns. It did yeah. Yeah I didn't think it was either you know so. Osborne we, he's just. I. Don't know what he led twenty laps or something. No question, just just talk about it. Talk about it. Just talk about Osmar look I'm tired. It's late I'm not. I'm not really. I have one thing the night that I'm passionate about. Oh. I'll get to that I'll removing Aswa already done with web until ackward has done. No, no, no, no, you get back to them. Let's go to that. Let's stay on them. Then fine you. Run the show. Here's what impressed me about web and this actually ties into what jt was just talking about. The whoops, there were jump out of the state to jumps for a little bit different. And then there's a left after them and that left was different, but it was eighty percent the same, and what was bad, and that section on Sunday, that's Iraq's him and then the first half of this main event. He was bad in section. Who is not only bad on the whoops, but he was going into that left hand turn so slow and it. Can Greece that corner when he passed them on Sunday, but webb was also terrible in there and I was like. Why is he, does he? Is He messing rocks? And is he.

"A specialized Liivo e bike from the guys at specialize. If you just described racetracks, magazine so pretty good deal, those guys. Let's get into it. Shall we first up from headquarters somewhere remotely from Salt Lake City. He's Jason Wagon. What's up each? Yeah my in Salt Lake City. No remotely from Salt Lake City. Remotely in Salt Lake City. Remotely from Salt Lake City look this is so confusing. You're actually in Salt Lake. City didn't go to the race. Everybody is everybody's confused Yeah Yeah. I'm here. I didn't go the race. I gotta go get Covid Nineteen tested tomorrow morning, and I will be allowed to go to Wednesday's race and Sunday's race course. So looking forward to to that It was a nice triple got to see the basset. Hound got to see the wife. Got The mountain biking all that so I watch it on TV. I have some comments with the broadcast as well later. So. Also on the phone joining us is Jason Thomas. German supercross champion. What's up, jt? Not Too much I had a bounceback fantasy nights so I'm in a great mood. For this podcast? Good to hear absolutely good to hear I had my worst of the year, and I'm fine. I mean it's ox, but I'm fine. Hey, some people don't like losing. Okay all right well. I guess clearly clearly not. Wow! I Start Review Jt. I told rocks in my mountain bike stuff. We'll take a few days to kick in. And? Looks like I was right. Yeah I'm just GONNA. Just move right along on that because I can't handle when you grab onto the ridiculous things that never like Oh, it's. It's amazing what he did. The track favored him. I think this slick turns the heart pack a throttle control kind of stuff stuff that Kenny straight at, but I still can't believe. He just went off and ran off and hot ran away from this thing I think it was just fourteen days thing. He's been for fourteen days. Like a light switch he's on. I'm Gonna I'm just going to go with that. What unpredictable win like seriously. Wow! Yeah. I. Don't I don't know if you've ever seen bounceback like that especially since we had three races in a row where it was entirely predictable by. The Fayed was coming almost to the minute at the exact same time, and not even halfway, it was like eight or nine minutes, and then they go halfway was just crazy, but he did explain in the press conference that just finished We were in there listening. You know the shingles thing. I don't know anything about shingles except it's horrible, right? It's all you so bad due to forever to get over, and then he explained that he had a small spot that he saw. They got dock partner quickly got medicine for it. He thinks got it somewhat. Tamp down because they got on early so I was thinking like dude. He's going to be struggling with this for months here. He thinks he's a bit of a handle on it. So maybe we were a little off with how bad we thought this is going to be. Okay shingles or not. Yeah, that's not why he was doing what he was doing. Early, is it? That's not I didn't think his results were because Shingles Dang. That's gotTa Suck. I can't help oh! I thought the last race was what he was saying was. He started seeing at the last race, but the previous two races there was no mention of that. Oh so that was the asthma the breathing. WHATEVER THE HELL! Whatever the hell else? Yeah, she opinion anyways. That's what I took away from it as well right so. This is just remarkable. This this ride I mean he just. You know he just maintained that. Li I think he. Looked like he could push it a little more remarkably consistent. Think of another ride that. Where some guy was counted out in came in. I don't know I can't. Nothing comes to mind right now either one for you. Know Not that big of a turnaround like it. Doesn't you know there was weird? Remember Tomac could not race. Around two two years ago and then one. A week later true. If, everyone he wins the title I'm going to try to get to the bottom of what that day at a Houston was like he probably won't talk about it, but that was a pretty big turn around I think we don't know how I mean it was bad enough from not to race. It's been on. We've seen some bounceback rides from Chad read over the years. His head kicked in by STU. Are CNN comeback. Beat them the next weekend, but I I. Know What you're saying as far as health problems But I know the one the one caveat there is. It has not been a speed thing for Roxanne. If you watched him ride especially at the beginning of the main events. He is so unbelievably fast. It just wasn't there for very long, even when he even when he when he was. Yeah, it shouldn't surprise us that his his stamina just completely doesn't get out. He has that I was surprised to win. Win But. We've seen flashes right. You could see the writing there. You could see the ability. It was just like you're almost. He was on a countdown clock to win. It was going to strike back and thankfully for Roxanne in hot HRC did not strike at all. It's just a vampire dude. You just think he's done. He's not he rises. You just comes out of the coffin. That's it just I'll be. I'll be. I'll be Kenny. Rocks good track forum, though jt like I said. Heart Paks Lick throttle control those turns. It certainly favored his technique. He's GonNa. Whoops, which which are pretty difficult, and then he's just so precise with a throttle. He was getting in and out of all those flat corners, which many writers may comment about the flat corners, and how strange they were for the trend. But. You could just see how. As I said precise in how great his financiers riding is getting it out of those terms. Turn after he passed coupe. After the whoops and then. He hit that Rut unbelievable on one hundred miles an hour. Imperfect him, it was it was amazing. It was amazing. Great there rocks that particular laugh was. It was like. I gotta go. I don't know I. Don't know what to say, but the guy I mean. Yeah, he just continues to impress and when you think he's done and out like. It, the temperature was good here. It wasn't wasn't a heater. Track so suited him but I. Don't know I have a question. Right at Great Reid deserve all the credit in the world unbelievable performance. I in my opinion where with the best guy today, Are you. Really happy with this, or are you even more frustrated because of what's gone on for the last two weeks and you basically ridden yourself out of any championship chance. Kenny you're happy of your, Honda..

"That. All right, thank you. Tell that what we go to the bar there at the doubletree and I'm like dude I got work to do. I'm not I'm not. This is not some all nighter at the bar I'm one beer, and then jeff loss walks, and he's like I'm buying for everybody to make. I'll take drinker. Pretty much, that's pretty much how it works. The best part is like everybody thinks that the stories we tell, and the things you tweet about our like kind of exaggerations. That's the best part and then you you live it. People think you're frustrated with the fantasy game, and then you sit on a couple of fantasy podcasts and people like seeing the why GAM. Like, real thing so summing up like this, we're in an economic crisis. Right of some sort was pandemic has caused economic hardships and uncertainty correct. Yup. was I not notably lighter. Later. Yeah, there's a place. Everything in the menu is like a NASCAR name, but. Or Bhagat on the menu. And and and Ralph is now on there, but anyway back then Brayton was so obsessed that as a joke, he picked up a chicken wings and threatened to take a bite. I don't know if he actually did take a bite. And then flash forward to last year with one of the fantastic motive concept team dinners. And they order everything in the menu. And he was just having at it with everything and I was like this is unbelievable to change. That's yeah. He was on the team when you had to give a speech. He was having. His factory Honda. Last year. was enough we talking, about. The sure wasn't silly. Was this shoe? I got two different seasons. Corona. Corona was still racing. You're right. You're your job. You're right. So yeah just to see him just devouring wings or whatever they threw. Remembering back eight years. It was a joke to even pick one up. Well I crashed on that ride with him to my legs got all bloody I got I got scratched and clawed and pierced with stick, and like Brown yeah, I just wasn't a good look as far as like. They were waiting for me and I come up the trail and I'm just about everywhere. Guys. What's up? What happened? I'm like nothing and you're bleeding. So I'm glad I didn't go into work out. Some terrible all right. Okay, so that's Salt Lake City Four. Three more three, more coming out from under. We're just pass outweigh yeah yeah. I it! I give it fifty fifty. That I survived this. I have not been able to get an answer on that. If I get an answer, I will perhaps jet down and see my beautiful. Basset Hound. And now your wife. For sure. Okay Yep, and and then I'll get back up here and we'll figure it out, but there'll be more mountain biking with all sorts of a of writers and People Badger Mountain biking in the heat. Race exam video where he goes through the Cunningham takeout from loss, and then analyze lost standing there, putting his hands on his hips, looking at the two bikes, heap, underground, and just seeing like. Looking at it wondering what happened because he caused it yes. You're making an incredible amount of noise. You're. You're making the north shore this first time when you have to jeff loss on the PODCASTS. ALREADY LOST DADDY! How many more riders your kid going to take out police still not. "Guys were on the ground like Lopes as down sexton's down like all these guys are down in the red flag out and just completely go back to zero and start over again, and there was a lot of a wild swing from that red flag or should say that. Stuff on twitter about people still questioning what who the NFL is. Way With the restart. counts. Doesn't count. It doesn't even exist. I'm with you. And you're not gonNA. Give 'em both ten. We'll Smith thing and you're. Not Exist anymore. Four fifty from Salt Lake City. Three top scores were low again. Mardi Davalos top score at thirty six points good job. Marty Logan car thirty four point two percent pick Logan car to make the main event on a to fifty. I don't know who you are. But good work. Brandon was next at thirty. Two mud is not JB's friend usually, but he put a solid race in together. Trying desperately, not the pass. Kenny walks in late, but he even I do thirty two points Osborne thirty two Chad Reed thirty to bag it thirty web twenty six. Thirty Twenty six so on and so forth. Picked trend. AP Forty. One percent. And everything else forty-one percent. AP Wasn't a great pick though. Turn out no. Thirty four percent for Tomac. Mardi was third at thirty three point. Seven Chad Reed was next at twenty nine point eight. Then Brock tickle then Dean Wilson. Team was I, missed all of those top scores, and my top-scorer was AP with twenty six again mutter he was up to seventh in the main event and looking good I think he went down and then finish just outside the top ten. Also Dean Wilson flying in practice. The he came from way back and he was an eight handicap star, so I got him at twenty sixty maxed out. My next I was brought. tickle who? Didn't look anywhere near what he showed of, and had to go the Q., and he got double points right at the end of the race I believe. Thank you, Brock tickle, but not ride that. You know he's GonNa. Get better. Yeah, he's going to be better and it's GonNa. Pay Off maybe this week. For the next race, so I could see myself going tickle for Salt Lake, city five because I think he'll just slowly getting better and my last pick was Fred and Orrin who? Yeah I was a thirteen, he. Knew he was a good starter, which would help in these conditions again? Conditions didn't get as bad as I thought, and he has some speed any Bush the whoops, one time and look great, and then eat never blitz them again and then Ryan breeze just threw it away and gave Freddie the spot and Freddie. Just puked all over himself just like babies. All over himself. That was that was after the heat when he was all by it. And they just throw it away crashing into whoops. Yeah all by himself. Up breese was racing with Freddie like into a turn or something. After? He was in leaving last lap. All by himself crash Freddie, but Freddie still shot. Freddie, had to do was just double through the whoops, when breese crash and he would have passed them, but he almost endo's feed off-the-peg, trying to double through the whoops because I think he saw breeze just lost. Okay, he he's absolutely lost it. He's lost all skillset all ability to think through a race. I was thoroughly disgusted with what I saw. So Fred no one was my guy..

"Thank you rent the I'll fly alias. CBD, Max all onboard with us. We'll get into Salt Lake City three. All that happened I up. He's still here in Salt Lake. City folks, it's two time German champion. It's Jason Thomas what's up jt. How are you not too much just? Waiting for you to finish your other projects that we could do this, it's these things are warning pretty tough doing on the same rate as a race. Listen Bro Grinding. We did nothing for eighty five days. I'm I'm okay. I'm here if I. IF I was upset, I would not be here also on the line. He's the voice. Of? Pro motocross championship seriously voice of Derek. GNC's Voice of quad racing, but he is no longer here in. Salt, Lake City, but he watch it on TV Jason Wagon. Yeah. Good race to miss nothing much happened. No, no not much at all. WHO UNBELIEVABLE UNBELIEVABLE! Why are you coming back? Man Even here now, media guys. Even being banned for attempting to talk to people so. That's not a very good sign of I'm going to get a lot out of this. Listen. You're the TV. Spotter for the first couple of rounds, and then jt and I were next to each other and now J.D. Spotter, so he's busy I am all by myself in the press box? Like literally sitting there. I got no one to hear my observations. I got no one to complain about to complain to. Which I normally do I got nothing I mean. Can you do complain a lot? Can you come out? I need to we need to. Somebody needs to do a survey. Who would be out? The nine hundred people eligible to go to this race? Who would be the person? I'd be available to be your sounding board your shoulder to cry on your backstop your bulletin board. You just need a body, right? You just need to ears I just. To laugh at my stuff. Come back with some. You know maybe making some across Joe. Come back at me and we're great. You know yeah, exactly maybe talking about Marty! Stuart, little bit yeah. It's it's depressing, look. Touched on a little bit there, so so our buddy don made from Swat Moto. Kicked out of the racist. Allowed to come in. Casualty. Cut GNARLY, but I mean to be fair. We got rules and he was breaking them. This isn't. Yeah. There's rules. So I gotTA JT. Yeah, I mean. Listen everybody there for the media y'all do the same thing right you go. You try to get inside information. What's happening? What did happen at the race? And then you report on? That's literal your job while they have told you do not go near. The writers do not go on the rigs. Do not break the rules, and this is so we can keep racing for the whole sport. This isn't because they want to be jerks or they're out to get you. This is so the state doesn't come down on them and shut the whole thing down. So if you break the rules, yeah, no mercy for you. That's that's on you to make your own decision, but when they tell you yeah, you clearly did this. You have posted videos of an audio of it. There's no denying whether you did it or not. Yeah, you should not be able to come..

"How they're all out. If you picked sexton last week, you have the choice of two all stars I think mcelrath and No Shimoda macaroni March Banks Shimoda but Hampshire's out J. March. You have three guys. If you pick sexto. Three three J mart. Hampshire Will Hampshire. It'd be there. No, he will out Paul once again. He won't be even thought five calls because he's still gonNA. Have points I don't have any clauses. I have nothing. Okay so here we go so Jay, arts out. He's going to point out I. Don't have enough time in his podcast. Start yelling screaming. He's actually not going to point out, but someone's not good at math. Okay so. And and Lopes is out like you said, and then we don't know about. Nick Gains JT. Do you have gains update? As far as we gonNA goes. I don't I mean he was close to racing last weekend, so I would think in a few more days. Okay, so. Pierce Brown is number one question here. Potential podium guy. You pick them hundred percent. You pick up. Yeah, hundred yeah, I WANNA pick him. I don't think I can though JT. Pick. An automatic pick like Dan said. He's probably he's underneath. Has To say away. Okay all right I. Race he crashed was less than fifth and now J. Martyrs Out. That's one more spot I still. I still get scared every time I. Watch him because the kid cannot hit whoops. He can't do it. He tries to jump him. And then each is the bullets and he's in between like I don't know I don't know what his plan is. It's like he wants to do one thing and they decided to do something else at the last minute, and he does this hybrid theory. It's just a second abortion, so the number one controversy of the first round has been. He made the first main. He went from sixteen to fourteen. Yeah, he got twentieth. So is he still kickable? All Day he's. He might be my lead pipe lock. Do I don't know? What do you mean I? Mean okay, so when he gets in the main event like jt said he was up there for a long time was. I don't remember ever being up there I wasn't watching closely, but JT, wasn't he? In the mix for? Not In the mix is correct, but he was in the top fifteen for half the race. I want to say so naira. Well I. Hold on I three laps. He was eleventh. He went from eleventh to twentieth ninth. To Twelfth to Fourteenth. Got Worse from I four laps. He by like way before halfway. He's done. It was like riding on the start straight. So what I'm saying is if you get him. He's not going to put it past. Say Seventeenth Sixteenth. Yeah. Take that he's. Taken, sixteenth, yeah give me that all day he's. He's a lead pipe lock. No one's going to score more points in that. Yeah. He's on my team, so here's Brown tonight on your team now. I can't pick Chris Brown but. Cody shock, Sinai and Lorenzo Remedy. Pick Shock. You can't I, don't Cook. Team I can see so you physically can pick him. But why should he not? He can't. He can't. What do you mean? He can't watching shock? He has been the guy in my brain to be like I'm going to I'm coming in under the radar which shock I'm GonNa Shock. Shock! You can't do. He crashes too much. He crashes all by himself. There's no he's just grew up with this kid named Brian Gray he used to crash a lot, too, and then one day to stop crashing and he was good Salt Lake City three evening. Getting shocks. Cody shocks new career. No, I don't know about all that. But what kind of wager do you want on shock down? What do you want? What do you want? What do you want? Whatever what do you want? Twenty Bucks. I. I. I'm fifty. If you are so make it fifty fifty bucks. Okay, you're on. He makes the main event. You're on. Another gets the kid. He seems Nice apparently you do. We're going to tell them ever made a minute of it. No, I don't think. Do I. Get that number. Seventy five came from outdoors. Thank it okay, you didn't shake. Taking. You know what I'll take I'm GONNA. Go give this kid. Student, but he just needs confidence. Chad is looking for it to fifty. Different back. Jaylen auspey do thoughts abby. Well in the main, he went from third to twelfth and not an. good-looking fashion, it wasn't good I. He's great writer wrong, but he did not have a good main event. So are you. What are you saying? Stay away, I mean he was good in the first one, but that wasn't good. That wasn't a good main event for him. If you could pick these three guys colt, Pierce and tonight. That's your team right but I can't pick. His cruel how that works JT Stevens? Is Scary as hell, though yeah, that's fine though you can't. What's the saying Dan? Can't win being scared money. Don't want something like that. so Nichols added minus two all day right all agree. I can't pick them up on the podium called nickel. Nickel's percent trend was fifty forty four percent last week, so now it should be. Would think so correct and you would think so. Yeah, it'll be forty percent I know, but I'm saying theoretically, yes, it should. It should absolutely be there. Who else do you like them? I really do like and I, and I like Lorenzo. We went to the breakfast today. Lorenzo is they're made some changes. It looks like I thought he'd be better. He's in good shape your sandbox so getting in the main hardest part for him. He got fifteenth this weekend. I think you should be a little bit better around Twelfth Thirteenth so out of Seven. There still value there for me. Is could be good. Yep Yep I agree with that but man. I like the Kid I think he actually does a great job of marketing himself, but I still have not seen him in a main event. Do much of anything and he's probably. GonNa be pissed if he hears the fourteenth Atlanta I know, but I've watched them a lot because I he wears flighty, always tags me and I like I cheer for him but I. Don't know man I just haven't seen a lot main events yet like his race at Arlington and the triple crown. I was just like he I picked him just killing me out there. So we'll see I'm not saying it's a bad pick just not not very bullish. All Star. I can't take him I really like it. I'm not that guy I hate the high handicaps for all a tough spot. You can only pick mcelrath. You have to pick mcelrath. Could only pick three guys. The rest are hurt at zero. He that's tough I. mean he can only pick. You're gonNA tell me. He's GonNa pick a leak. Yeah, might your options or March Banks Shmona only because macaroni zero other than that? But yeah, JT! Who's your all star based on who you can pick to leak Shimoda, mcelrath or March banks tubes viruses right. No, no dislocated. His shoulder seen Robbie Rain Devon days ago. He wrote the next lap. Twenty twenty different. I Going to pick. Really Over Shimoda at an eight. I like. Really J. Mart, so we can. You. Guys think macaroni gets worse than third your. Shamoto gets worse than ninth. Crash at any moment. He's had I mean looking at his past finishes the. Wind was bad, but he's always in the top ten. My opinion LS. mcelrath just goes ass over tea kettle. There's no way he doesn't get to. Spare? You. Take Twenty points maybe if he doesn't lock, yeah..

You're assumed it was negative because you're not happy with fantasy scoring ever you want. So JT. The game does not reward mediocrity. He even does a little fantasy preview on our website. And he put that sentence in there, and I know that was aimed directly was yes okay, so we'll swing for the fences. One Steve, Mathis, says Manson I look good. What was he fifteen? Hundred Ninety nine. He'd never made it may well. That's probably just law of average. Eighteenth, I think seventeen or something like then tonight qualified. He's been good enough to make Maine's Lov averages. It just hadn't worked out he was. It was going to happen, but is he good enough or are we going off of that? We all know who he is and where we are. We over qualified twenty. Two to me doesn't make main event while he's raced twice. Data's my. My point of averages, he was eventually going to get one. I felt like you couldn't I agree I have my reasons to not want tonight. Yeah, you heard me loud. Yes, yeah Dan. My theory was I saw hombres in Australia in the two fifty class, which is not nearly with the to fifty classes here and it really still wasn't that impressive, so I was not on board. But Stephen, like just hasn't made a main yet. Two and a half didn't pick them though he talked. I know exactly yeah, so you Jerky Workman I got him I. WanNa. Talk, JT, little bit. I got some complaints that he doesn't pick a team..

Yeah, so when that's unfolding then ice as you guys probably did to start getting text like I'm here in the race, GonNa be cancelled. Yeah, I was surprised at eight. Even here. I guess they had to have calls and they had to discuss. It was never alone. We're all in this thing and. Well when occur when a curfew goes out, basically saying it's and our hotel. Basically, we're saying you can't leave if you we've. You can't come back like there are a lot of really. Oh, yeah! They had the doors locked. Don't the gentleman at the? There's a bar. That's the only thing opened in our hotel and it was kind of the. Center Point for night. People are watching the news and there, and whatever, and then the guy in there which he was very uninformed, basically said I can't leave. No one can leave like anymore like okay. Things are starting to go sideways quickly. Luckily, he was not all that well informed. It was just the same guy last night. There was also working with starbucks this morning. Same Guy He I. Don't yeah. He works long hours. I don't want to go to for. That as well informed with what's going on. Bought a good news. He gave us free starbucks morning. Yeah, was it good? No, it was garbage coffee. I wish I would've yeah anyway so I bought starbucks and it was. Great and then we ordered pizza tonight. Everybody and we just like it's my turn to pay because JT japodlay today and I bought starbucks, day and JT. I'm going to pay conveniently the pizza place. He called Din pick up. He said eight times, but I just went on my APP, ordered it and paid for it myself and that was ever. It's eight calls. All right on lockdown really weeks paid for A. Lockdown he also had his mask on upside out which goes with the Jersey a few months ago, so yes, yes. Couple Times ask upset yeah. So you're never were where we're. I was never I, never watched. Because it was a day rights for one, so they weren't GonNa ride too much during the day at two. We're in Salt Lake City. But I did have to just go like what else. What is what is going on here right when they hit us with citywide curfew until Monday. You weren't concerned at all. No, because we weren't blur racing at night, we were in the day it was it didn't matter. It was from Saturday night at eight PM until Monday morning at six am. It doesn't.

All right you were in your out. Now you're out okay and I say that but I know he's GonNa call it the hill. I mean he'll probably qualify seventeenth eighteenth which is pretty good. I mean who qualify better than I think better. Sue's but kraft those of you. Who Don't know this this out it's GonNa look at around. Twelve thirty. Saw Time on Sunday is. Dan is going to be sitting at a table and they're essential team pods with his hand running through his hair going. I don't know what to do over and over and over. That's what he's going to be doing. But we're pretty big disadvantage. I'm not allowed to talk to these guys and like tell him that you know we're looking at you can't offer impart like we call them in level playing field poor to I'm I. I'm very upset. Do we have a first book? Caught onto that. Forced isn't GonNa hire them now. Either Right Patrick. My angle is chats retiring. And there's a spot about motorsports I of the finish line. Dan Four fifties. Yeah I let rocks and right now just from said Honda. They've they've all gotten really close but Honda has always been a step ahead. It teams like In the altitude so right now I with Ross. I haven't seen the track layout either. I would only go with rocks. Jt If I if I was going I finish line. That would be the only guy I would. I don't I not for me if I was going to go I would probably go weap- I don't think I'm going to pick him. But I think I would lean towards web if I was GONNA pick number nine conversation too. "Three playing fantasy and and you're your prizes will be on the way as soon as we can organize it and figure it out so thanks again for for playing four fifties here we go. Salt Lake City one. Jt for four fifties. Let's see who do you like? Jt Are you there. Oh Yeah I was waiting on you to finish your sensor. No I I mean to me. This is just a huge reset right. these guys have had so much time off. I think that I'm GONNA probably play much safer in the four fifty class than I would in the two fifty I to make sure I get all four my guys in and Kinda wait and see on this first round If I can get you know a hundred points four a little more and my four fifty I'll probably be okay with that It's just always kind of like that it. It seems like the two classes the the big variance and you can really swing for the fences. And you're always worried about not getting into that main event because you know guys like anti nap and some of these guys. They're they're qualifying ratio. This year has been very poor And I just want to make sure I get four guys then. Yeah that's that's a big thing who put a negative three. Who did that I did? That's that's ridiculous no we. He was still an all-star Daytona. He fell out of the top eight after Daytona. He's GonNa be he's GonNa be top seven one hundred percent now one hundred percent top seven. Yes yeah he is gonNA come out balls on fire I may. I think there may be a waiter there. Okay yeah well off the. Let's let's do it. That's ridiculous he needs to be minus five minus. Yeah Yeah you can't move them that much after he was just an all star six at the previous round like any gonna all star after this. Kp MINUS Twenty Sinus. But he's only one point out of eighth. I'm sorry I'm kidding. Jt But let's get back to this minus six minus nine winner. Nothing I can't pick lafrance while again. I was hoping for bigger laughs from that from you guys but fucking no. Okay so Dan. Who Do you like for four fifty all? Let's go that Malcolm Stewart Stewart. I seven I think he's He's been working hard. You know he only have seven rounds. He's not racing outdoors so his only focus has been supercross and he was good and got in better shape. I think that I like Malcolm out of seven as far as the sick as a regular pick. Yeah we'll get there. We'll get there. I like. I like Brayton at that eight. He'd he'd been hurt so it wasn't gonNA race and obviously healed up by now so Jt Britain for all star. That eight.

You were a man just recovered from a broken Nick and used before that. Oh, wouldn't say just recovered. That was I mean months earlier. Yeah. That's just recovered. Brakeman naked couple of weeks ago. Too. Funny, wasn't it. Now. That's just recovered. I think isn't it. I mean, they so you push through all of that to get to Salt Lake City in the first place you up to mystic when you arrived in this. I was incredibly excited and up to mystic for sure. It was a different different mindset in Salt Lake City than what walls in my previous three Olympics during that time, whereas Wailer wearing the highlight Bryce, I set myself when you go voice been one talks about setting goals and sit calls for myself my goal through the first three Olympics was to get a go middle that hadn't happened and realistically. It wasn't going to the new goal was to get to that. Next Olympics in Salt Lake CDS, get my best, and my best realistically wasn't medals anymore out is one of the do my best once every four years when the whole world was finally watching us scattered from Brisbane as a solo competitive we used surprised to make it to the final. If you had a vase me prior to the competition if I'd be in the final, and I'd take a fifth plice out of this event. I have taken it. What was the caliber of Ponant lock the you're up against in that in that fun rice the other fullest guide is four of probably civil rights guide is in the world that even my best simply couldn't beat anymore you older than most of the oldest guy. Not just in the final the oldest scatter in the entire failed and in spades. Getting you get about twenty five minutes race between each round save. The hates the quarters the semi finals in the final all in about an hour and a half..
