"Welcome back. Welcome back well. Be honest with you, except for a couple of bait fisherman catching just a couple of small fish. I'm not hearing of any stripers anywhere and I got I can't wait to talk to Clyde was with us now because maybe he's got some news. Good morning, Clyde. All the news I got is bad news. Profits of time thing. I'm trying a little bit of everything. I thought I'd go into Montezuma with some bait. Chance of catching a sturgeon along with stripers in there this time of the errors. Yeah, Good. Well, I had good bait. No fish never swung in a fish all day. Just know junk bites. And I think Don is doing the right thing. That would have been my next move. Doing a little different. I'm gonna like try some mud suckers next week and went about the same areas. Right? A little further south and I had a friend. The best fish I've seen Caught was one about £8 caught while he was sturgeon fishing down around Pittsburgh. No. And I'm going to do that one day next week and then get out drive from bloodsuckers another day, But I'm just not seeing any fish. I'm not marking any. I have never seen a year like this. You know, from the strikers this late? Yeah, they're probably going to show I hear they're still having a lot of bait down and they in the base or maybe all of understand down there for now. Maybe. I hope so. Anyway, I hope it Yeah, but you're going to catch some fish here and there, you know, locals, but no big fish showing up which you know the thing. The thing about fishing the bed. The Bay always has. Ah, lot of smaller stripers. I mean, that's where they live. You know, just think of the areas from north to South that they can be the whole San Pablo Bay ecosystem, his perfect for stripers, the Marin Islands. There's always fish around there and you go out. You cast lures and jigs and you can catch a lot of fish and a five pounder is a big one. But the big fish during that are hard to come by. You have to bait fish to bay and not a lot of people are bait fishing for stripers. Now it just sturgeon, so it's it's hard to keep track of them. It is and I have a lot of friends of still out, fishing them one kind of a couple out the other day, and they caught over 20 fish and not a keeper in the bunch that something fishing was sad and Anyway, I think I'd best that is, you know, Try if there's any fish coming up, Try a little farther south for a while. We had a few fish and Discovery Bay. But I'm not hearing anything from there. Now. I have a couple friends that live down there. And I have not heard from them. They could be duck hunting, too, but who knows where they are, And I think it's on the right track, trying it down around. Business point. That would have been my next move. Probably going to do that Wednesday, Okay? The weather and see what happens anyway. Gotta look around. Can't can't give up their time now, so You know? So okay, Clyde. We'll keep our hopes up. Thank you. Have a good week out there. Good luck to you. Thank you, Bob. Okay, bye. Bye. Clyde wants the old timer. I'll tell you. I mean, this I can never remember just with clients I have. I can never remember. They're being so few stripers in the delta as we know it, You know the San Joaquin side down by Rio Vista, Liberty Island. Those sloughs over on the McCollum, Me hog beaver and Sycamore Slough and then down where they're talking about. Columbia cut clear on down to Discovery Bay. You know, this is where they winner. And they're not here. I mean, there's courses of few Fisher, but not many minute Let's switch gears, go over the Bodega Bay and find out what's going on with the crabbing, Mr Chris Lawrence and Good morning to you. Good morning, Bob. So So Are you getting happier with your results over in bodega with the crab pots? No, I'm starting this weekend at the swell would get down. I would start pulling my Potts. This is the time of year that small boats really don't belong out there. I pulled crabbed you're on Sunday and Monday. My best pot had 11 crab in it, And my worst part had zero innit? The crab pots. They're up by car met or still producing the best. And there's no crab around in the outer Bay on that seems to be the norm this year. Yeah. Well, we don't We still don't have a commercial crab season. No As Carli. We're pulling pots. On Monday, We saw four big boats coming down the the ocean downhill from either order dinner Washington and they end up tied up in Database. They got lots of pots on them. They're big 20 for our boats, and every boat is tied up in Bodega Bay, waiting to see what they're going to do with it as it's tragic up on Sunday. When I came into the dock, there were people that were work would walk up to you and say you got crapped herself. No, I don't have crap for sale and and all that sort of stuff some of small commercial guys that would normally be selling Live crab, the doc Nobody is doing that this year. So, as the Andy said earlier on your show, there is no live crab this year unless you go out either under six back boat or charter boat. Go out on your own and the oceans are starting to get if he now to go out on. I just came into the harbor from Bodega Bay, and I only passed two boats one in Petaluma and went on highway 37 that we're headed towards presumably Database to go crabbing today or bottom fishing. And so not a lot of action this weekend, And when I woke up at 4 30 this morning, there was a decent swell that I could hear from Salmon Creek. So today is not a good day for small aluminum boats to be out in the ocean. No, um You know, and another thing about small boats in the ocean this time of year that weather can come up fast. Have absolutely so you know you it will be up out bottom fishing and guys will be bottom fishing from the dead ahead all the way up to t o salt point. And you'll hear the guys here comes the win and, you know, bill fall the wind down and votes will start running back into the harbor because the wind is coming from the northern the West or whatever it is so You really do need to pay attention This time, you're not only swell, but when conditions as well. Yeah. You think the party boats they're going to continue to run after the rockfish season closes. Some of the guys are starting to talk about sand dab trips just like they do down on moderate stand, Dad and and crab combos. I know that Rick and some other guys Are you still doing? Decent combo trips, Rick is still producing £2.5 crab days. The £3 crab days up to £3. But they're getting some small crabs as well. This six pack boats are going out to in three times a day for crab only trips and they're still getting limits. So guy wants fresh crab. Get a whole weather guys. Bodega Bay, let a charter boat guys and go out and get some crab or a combo trip. Okay, well, I mean, that's something to do anyway on. Of course, they don't have toe whether worry about the weather quite as much a smaller boats, but they still have to be careful, too. And they are careful because they don't want their whole crew to be sick or to listen to a weather report and cancel a trip on them. And whether there was that the guides have been saying this yours. Guys air to it two hours before the trip they're canceling, and that's not very there. Okay. Well, In the meantime, Chris keep an eye out for stripers for us onto your harbor, Lawrence and John Harbor and maybe we'll talk to you next week, okay? All right,.

"Now reflecting on it. I don't know man, maybe saved up a bottom for himself. That's even more sad. I don't know I grew up in South Portland like the poor area of town in Portland and you know, my parents friends literally work drug dealers, I'm not exaggerating I had friends whose parents would take in activities that probably are not acceptable to say on this podcast with us cuz they were like they like, oh like that's what we do and I was around that life a lot and you know the area of southeast Portland went to David Douglas High School. We did David Douglas High School, and I'm so glad I grew up the way I did honestly, you know taught me a lot. There's nothing sadder than the kid who doesn't have enough growing up. But also I think that it can toughen you up. I mean a kid who's hungry at night or a kid who doesn't have a notebook or a kid who needs shoes for basketball and doesn't have shoes. It's sad. It's it's really not not cool. And I hope if I have kids someday that they always have enough they're always taken care of. But I also have you have to acknowledge man that it you know people from my childhood birth. You know people who oftentimes didn't have enough or either they're either like in gangs or they're strippers or they work at Walmart. But some of those people are in the NFL or they are studying how to make fake lungs Stanford or they're doing incredible things. They're they're just well beyond and so I think it's interesting that young people growing up tough can make you more resilient, you know, as a kid I grew up in and I lived two places. I lived in southeast Portland and then I lived in a mobile home in a rich suburb called like Salmon Creek is where I lived and I would describe your high school my second high school and the people from Southeast Portland has such a wide range of success where the suburbs seems like everyone else. It's okay. They're fine accident the people in the suburbs didn't really I didn't connect them as well a people from Southeast Portland cuz there was a level of resilience there that gets developed and learned where the people that are killing it the most of em one I knew as a kid like the people who are just dominating life or the people from Southeast Portland because they as a kid didn't have enough food. I knew that the only way they could succeed was to get straight A's in high school and get a scholarship somewhere dominate in sports. So they worked so hard and football and I just don't know anybody who's as dominant as I do as the people that went to my first high school and college and had less throwing up if that makes any sense. It's crazy. I started talking about a pair of shoes and we got here. I do have another pair of basketball shoes. I have a pair of Nike Hyperdunk shoes. I bought these and by the way that paired Derrick Rose's here's what's sad. I saw that pair of basketball shoes in high school and I told you I had no shoes. I need a basketball shoes. What's even worse is that there are actually two sizes too big. I wore basketball shoes like had a bunch of room in the toe in high school because I and I.
