"Welcome to the show folks I have today. Actually, an old family friend of mine Doug Wilson, who is the Minister of? Christ. Church in Moscow Idaho, Church that I attended through much of my childhood and also during college and still visit quite frequently whenever I'm down in Moscow Idaho which is only about ninety minutes from from my home in Spokane, and so I've I've known Mr Wilson for quite some time and he actually had a stint in the US Navy for a while. and. Then he attended the same university that I did University of Idaho ever while I got a glorified personal training certification he studied philosophy, and since then went on to do quite a bit notably, he he helped found and now serves on the board of Logo School, the school that my wife attended, which is a classical and Christian K through twelve school down in Donna Moscow he's also the senior fellow of theology at New Saint Andrews. College. In Moscow Idaho, which I would consider to be One of the better liberal arts institutions in the country actually end quite close to the coffee shop that my mom actually runs down in Moscow. Idaho and so I'm familiar with a lot of the students that go to that university as well or or that college as well a he has authored many books Mr Wilson is a prolific author and and his books are fantastic. He has A. Books on marriage on on child rearing on on I absolutely love his his titles on raising boys just because I have twin boys myself some excellent books on Christian Education his son Nathan Wilson. You might also be familiar with as as a as a well-known fiction author and all a link to to all of his books as well as everything else that we talk about if you go to Ben Greenfield fitness, dot com slash Doug, Wilson and. Doug also has about a metric ton of grandkids spread across the planet with what seems to be rapidly increasing frequency, and so he has a he has a lot of a lot of children out there bearing his name as. and so it the the topic that I really wanted to get into today is related to a book that Mr Wilson wrote called confession of a Food Catholic. I'm also going to link to that in the show notes as well because I I really really love to get. Your perspective. In by the way, I seem to be going back and forth between Doug and Mr Wilson, what do you prefer for for the show on Doug is great. All right. That's GonNa that's GonNa shorten the syllables I gotta us. All right. So so doug, you wrote this book called Confessions of a Food Catholic and and I know that you've also done quite bit of thinking about how we tackle this. the this relationship between health and fitness and pursuit of a better body and caring for our bodies and carrying for God's Temple but at the same time. Not kind of a sliding into into a selfish obsession with with our bodies and with health or with longevity or anti-aging at all costs, and this is certainly something that's been a a topic on my mind quite a bit lately and so. the this book confession of Food Catholic that you wrote with you say is dedicated all those at church dinners. I noticed didn't have enough protein on their plates and tried to cover it up by noticing I didn't have enough Greens on mine. Let, let's start here what what is a food Catholic and how would you describe yourself as a food. Catholic. Great. Thanks for having me on. This is a great opportunity afoot. Catholic is someone who believes that all foods are acceptable for us to eat with regard to our spiritual condition. In other words, I cannot put distance between me and God through anything I, put my mouth or I. Can't be put right with God through anything that I eat what I've noticed, and the reason I wrote the book is that many people feel they eat they feel a spiritual guilt either they feel if they eat poorly, if they missed the regimen that they assigned for themselves, it's not like, Oh, I failed to do the extra push up. It's there's a spiritual guilt that many people feel. And what I wanted to do was go to war with that sensation of guilt with regard to what you eat now if someone said yeah. But if someone had a a diet of deep fat fried twinkies and that's all. That's all they ate wouldn't that be bad for them or yeah it'd be bad for them. It'd be bad for their physical wellbeing is not healthy, but they're not corrupting their soul by means of the twinkie. Now, they may be corrupting their soul by means of their lack of discipline but that's a different issue. It's a different category. So we have a tendency to blame when we have a moral failing or. A spiritual shortcoming, we want to blame the stuff instead of addressing the root spiritual issue, which is your relationship to God i. think it's far worse to be fighting with someone over what they you go out to lunch with a friend and you spend the time quarrelling over what they ordered instead of just enjoying the time with your friend, right so so you're saying basically, is that sometimes the the legalism or the Self Righteousness That we get with with a lot of these laws that we set up for our self regarding food whether it's you know I'm going to be gluten free or I'm avoiding carbohydrates or I'm I'm not consuming vegetable oils because those aren't good for my body. What you're saying is that is that what you would care more about is not whether someone eats organic or processed food but why they're actually making those decisions exactly. So if What somebody else eats is frankly none of my business they're the one asked to eat it is their lunch they ordered it e if you want a a meal that's higher in fiber are lower in fiber or you need gluten not there or you maybe earth counter countering you order extra gluten. Right. Fixed. Diluting powder but we actually call that soy sauce. So. So you use this term in the book called the Food Pharisee, which is great. The P. H. O. Food Pharisee. And you describe these food pharisees as those who who would be unwilling to bring their food laws before the Bible to be examined and and said, that's a topic that Christians really need to think through biblically and when you get into this whole concept of a food fairs lifestyle, what I'd love you to do if possible is telling, you told me what you would describe a food Baresi. And then get into some of the issues regarding I. Think you break it down into into five different issues that this food pharisee lifestyle could be described as. So if you bring your food if you. Say Okay I want to compare how I eat to the Bible I to bring my food choices in the Bible. There's good news and bad news well, good news and bad news for the Food Pharisee. The good news is that whatever it is you're eating is fine. That's the good news. The bad news is whatever it is. Your neighbor is eating is also fine and the food pharisee is someone who wants to feel superior. They want to look down on someone who's making sub optimal choices right

"Was Melanie history. Even her daughter Ivy is thriving, as is her love for the surgeons who saved her life. I gave Melania call to talk a bit more about the story. I wanted to know more about Ivy's doctors at Children's Hospital in New Orleans. Do you mind that? What's his name? What are their names? Hugo, Say Hilaire. So Doctor, Saint Hilaire is the plastic surgeon. And then Dr Lori McBride was thie in pediatric neurosurgeon. And so I've seen Dr McBride like at the grocery store, and I about fall apart like I can't see you in the setting, you know you Um you like touched her brain like this is weird. I'm fine Melons like it can't So when we see them at our like, yearly appointment, I just get so excited. I want to, like catch up with them and, like, get a drink or something. But always very grateful because Their work was flawless and intense, and they just were really fantastic. And, um, you know, Ivy's three now three in a few months, and You would never know. You can't even see the scar anymore. So adore beautiful little grain of the most recent was she and she's got this short. It's really curly blonde hair, but it just kind of sits there and If I look for her scar, which I confined it I have to, like, sift through all these tangled curls, and I can barely see it now And when I want to know when it started to fade, I almost missed it because it was such a mark of this. Amazing thing that she did. But you shouldn't know what she was doing. And I'm kind of like a badge of bravery if you will. So, um yeah, it was a very, very special thing. And then someone asked once like, if you could Now, if you could Have. Have you be born again and not have it. You know, what would you do? And I was like, Well, that's insane. But I'm so thankful for for the entire journey. It was Like down with a cry. "That's a lot of change where you can have better and players. Seven players a part of that squad, and so you know, it's it's a bigger list. It's also a different type of list and we've we've dealt with him before and then Lastly, how important is relative to the pandemic we're dealing with this season. How important is it? Did you feel like you've got depth and you prepared may be in for worst case scenarios, But I do think The expanded practice squad. Look, if you just look at the numbers and you say 53 then 6 60 53 16 or 69 now. Paula's team. Um, you know, that's considerably different than a year ago and then knowing Warren Beatty already You know? I just think there are a number of things that are different about this year's practice squad. Outside of even overnight, You know, 19. If you're just looking at some of the changes that have taken place that you really have a chance to To carry better and help on your on your team. Young players on your team to develop. All of those things will have to manage in And plan accordingly. Being increased 16 players I think is monumental. On DH. That's something I think that if I have to do We don't know what's gonna happen with the bars and I think the games will go on. At times you might say Who is? This guy knows the XFL and old school NFL Europe. It's the guy that we have available in our team, maybe understand what we're doing. I think the fans and more recognized maybe a skill player obviously want to see Tom Brady vs Drew Brees. But let's say you have a setback is dealing with the bars. That's why they expanded practice squad. I think it's significant when you go into 16 players and you look typically in the past how we're able You know together player that you wouldn't probably get now because the Packers would have protected and tasting Hill. All of a sudden, we like case in hell is stealing all the practice squad. Well, this year, you will be able to do that. You will oppose your practice. Wife players, the sign of Clare, you know to the active roster. And this time would be Anderson and you could look at it weekend and we call that the Saints and all the NFL teams could protect for their players each week from getting culture getting that You know, you're like, Well, these four players okay when we put him out there and we don't protect him, someone NFL team's gonna get him. So I think that's a good thing. When you look at the expanded roster and what we're dealing with It just makes it because I think the game will go on now, you might say, Well, how many players are testing positive when you think about it? Just think, like a lot of a big number. And if it spread about across the league, they feel like you have 100 players. Whatever you got 32 teams that's not really bad. It's when all the sudden you have 100 120 players and maybe you're dealing with four or five feet. That's when he comes in the place. But if you could spread it out, and you're dealing with the bars, the game's going, go on, actually believe that Yeah, I think so, too. But, you know, I think that development of how that squad has changes is substantial. And again. We're 11 guys away from the final roster right now, when you factor in the practice squad, so You know, depth in the offensive line and again, you have a room where you know those guys were in close contact all the time. They got to work together. If it's going to run through a room, it's going to run through the offensive line room way before it runs through the wide receivers. So I think the Saints having that depth is good, and I think that's a conscious decision that they've made to do that. We'll step away. Lots more here. You're listening to sports Doc on Every Saint's fan knows. It's always saying season you live in New Orleans,.

So perhaps you could set the record straight firstly in what context did you say the words Jewish people are among? The cleverest in the world. It came up in conversation. About Physics I've always an interest since I was a boy in astrophysics. because. I couldn't believe that one hundred years ago almost. Albert Einstein we're talking about such abstract subjects as light being affected by gravity. And he works out the speed of light, which was a phenomenal thing to do in the nineteen twenties. How did this man come to realizations about what actually control the will then what does control the world? And the whole universe that we live in? So. My interest was based on this philosophy. On physics. And when the lady Mico sleater told me that she was a qualified physicist and she was American. It was almost involuntary question for me to Oscar. She was Jewish and again, this was a private lunch at a private lynch over Cup of coffee. Now, it was also reported to say that you said that black men on the privileged needle help that they can get. Yes. I did say that. Because I've worked all over the world of work in Africa I worked in South Africa Mozambique worked in North Africa. And I realized that a lot of people in Africa are culturally disadvantaged. Cheaper to anybody else. But. The coach or they grow up in doesn't give them the advantages that we have in the West. And therefore, I was always prepared to give them extra help. In addition to this, it was reported in the Times by Phillips that you told Dr Burner. Most Nigerians did not have it in their DNA to be engineers. Is this true? Absolutely not true. This was one of the spiteful comments made by my course. Lita. In a fifth of of temper to get me set knowing. It would certainly get me ten. She also alleged other city things. Like that I was a totalitarian. Does, one become a totalitarian over coffee break. Did you say anything about DNA and African students I said nothing about ten not not an area of expertise of mine. I know nothing about it I only know that gets us by the police. In various reports, you read in the papers on I know nothing about DNA.

"Saints will play their first home games in an empty stadium. Team President Dennis Lashes says it all comes down to covert 19 infection rates. The reality of it is is that it's not just Orleans past but 30% of our fans coming from across the region and across the region. Right now, we have some of the highest per capita infection rates in the country. The first game of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be played at the Superdome scheduled for September 13th. And will be played without fans in the stands. Corona virus cases in Louisiana today are up just under 1200 according to the Louisiana Department of Health. The total number 134,300 for 43 more deaths brings that total to 4238. Resumed recoveries grew this week to 103,521 meaning there are about 26,500 active cases, down from down about 5000 from last week. Corona virus case data has fallen to where it was around the end of the successful phase one period in New Orleans, according to public health officials. We get the story from W. W. Els Chris Miller. Since the weekend, New Orleans has averaged fewer than 50 new cases a day and fewer than 5% of Corona virus. Test samples air coming up positive. Worley's health director, Dr Jennifer of vague, No says this is what it was like a the end of Phase one, so residents need to keep it up the challenges sustainability. This is really hard. It is hard for all of us. Dr. Vague, No says the region needs to live up to the challenge. Because sustaining these numbers will mean it's safer for kids to return to school, and some private schools in New Orleans have already begun welcoming students back to classrooms. ST Bernard and ST Charles Parish schools have reopened Jefferson Parish schools will start two weeks from today. New Orleans public schools. They won't be reopening classrooms until the day after Labor Day at the earliest. Well, nearly half of all of Louisiana's unemployment recipients may not qualify to receive the new $300 federally enhanced weekly payments. W. W. We know that we have a lot of workers who were unemployed continue to be unemployed through no fault of their own, and we want to make available to them all the assistance that.
David Archer previews the Atlanta Falcons
"The Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well. Thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley We don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from l. A to Atlanta for this upcoming season? Well, be honest with you. I think we're expecting a lot of early and mainly in the Red zone. If you look at Todd Gurley's numbers, even with with so called quote unquote down near Around 900 yards rushing, still had 12 touchdowns. All 12 of those touchdowns came in the red Zone, and I think that Atlanta if they could find a way to run the football down close Help three up the talented weapons that Ryan has on the perimeter. Now, listen, you have a little bit more of a potent attack a little bit more looking a little bit more like what? You looked like a 16 when Avante Freeman and Tevin Coleman. We're carrying the ball down there close and created that problem in the run game. Atlanta has not had that over the last couple of seasons. I think that's where they expect Todd Gurley to make his main hey is down there in the red Zone. With the way that you probably have to manage his reps as a running back the rest of the running back room. Is there something that jumps out to you? Yeah, I think it's a good group. Really Do I think that when you look at Brian, Ill in the way, Brian Gillis Kamani together that Hawkins drafted a couple of years ago, Brian Handsome solid moments a year ago. Quadri Allyson. Kid at Pittsburgh rookie from a year ago. Uh, kind of woke himself. A little bit of a roll is a short yardage guy. £225 Goal line Guy, four touchdowns. Hopefully, you know, Smith can come back. He was injured in the game a year ago. I believe against the Rams in which he was trying to pick up a Blitzer, which he shouldn't be here should be doing, but he is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. And a good change of pace back at the back, So they get to three young guys that I think you could lean on. And like you said, Take some of that. Load off. Assad, Girl. Let's get to the next down. And when we do so, we take a look at Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The two big names in that organization. Do you still believe that this team could be a play off team once again with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? I do, but it's you know, obviously, it's about you know your supporting cast and you do some things on the other side of the ball, and I'm sure there's a question you've got to worry about the defense's side the football, But there there's a little area in the offensive line. The left guard has been a little bit leaky, right guard's been a little bit leaky because of some injuries and things that they could shore up that into your part of the offensive line. Ryan's Like most classic quarterbacks climb in the pocket. They got to be able to give him that opportunity. Do so if you get into your pressure and accurate from problems, one game will help in that regard, but Yeah. Julio Jones, 16 seconds, 1300 yard seasons. Matt Ryan, nine consecutive 4000 yard seasons. I don't see the one those guys backing off. When you talk about that offensive line to follow up on that I'm a big fan of Matt Hennessy. Being a temple grad, really smart football player puts in a lot of work. Is he going to make an immediate impact in your number one? Yeah, There's always a question that he's certainly in the mix to be the starting guard. There's no question about that. I think that there's ah lot excitement around when he brings the table and and obviously the heir apparent, Alex Mack, probably its center. So Alex back in a little bit longer to still have a good football any But I need to put some guys around him that Khun taken, it could be in there and we had German Brown and James Carpenter guys that could not stay on the field. There was some solid moments from those two big veteran players, but they did not stay on the field and consistency. In the interior specialist that left guard spotted Kennedy ultimately will probably win that job and be the starter that guard let's get to the next down. All right, David Archer. When they flip the switch here and go to the other side of the ball defensively, it was an up and down year for the defense, but it seemed like they did finish in a better spot than what they did earlier on in the season. You could probably say that for the entire team with the Atlanta Falcons this division. Is loaded with offensive talent. You know what the Saints are. Now you have Tom Brady and the division with Tampa Bay, and I'll be curious to see what Teddy Bridgewater does with the Panthers. What's your read on the Falcons defense entering 2020 Well, it's an uncertain situation obviously went on God. Dante Fowler, Dad's pressure off the edge contact. McKinley realized what they thought they had when they drafted him a couple of years and the number one spot picked up Charles Haley, who, ironically, was in the same draft. And raided a route the same attack McKinley are Charles Harris. I'm sorry. Charles. Charles Charles Haley. Right way. I'd like to have the guy that was rushing the pastor there for both the Cowboys in the 40 Niners. That would be great, but Harris. He does have some raw talent there. Can't he realize that I'm the Falcon Tutelage will have to wait and see Grady dear. It's an emerging star in the tackle position and Marlon Davidson, Vienna and an interesting ad, a guy that has the versatility to play inside. Maybe in past situations and also play the perimeter as a 34 defensive didn't run down situations. The answer at all Burn second round draft pick of the fact that they think they've upgraded their defensive line. It'll have to be upgraded because you get extremely young secondary. Probably gonna have a rookie a corner starting your nickels, a second year guy in your other corners of third year, guys, So there's a lot of young players on the perimeter need to get some pass rush speed up the thought process for the quarterback. Let's get to the final down. Alright. I'm surprised that Dan Quinn is Bacca's the head football coach for the Lancer Falcons. What does he have to do this year to keep his job and Is that seats the warm because, like I said, I was surprised that they brought him back for this year. It is warm. I think that it's fortunate they brought him back because of the current situation with the pandemic and the uncertainties, so some continuity certainly has played into Atlanta Falcons off season. I think they've had a solid offseason, much as you can, with the limitations. They're attached to this year, So I think that it was good in retrospect that, uh, Mr Black decided to keep Dan Quint on, but I think he's got there. They've got a bit pushed for a playoff spot. I think they've got to be. They can't come out of the box one in seven. It's got to be a team. It's in the hunt of the entire way. As you said, it's going to be outstanding division with outstanding quarterback play, but they have to be in the hunt to be a part of the postseason play. If they do that. And I think the fans will be a little bit of stab on the wound for the fans. But if you get out to a slow start, it would not surprise me. If if Mr Blank made some kind of decision mid season on coach Boy and I think, coach when is the right guy for the job Now it's put up or shut up. He scored a touchdown will go for two here Oscar. One more question This team was 11 5 We all know the deal they were in the Super Bowl blew the 28 23 lead. The next year, they did go 10 and six, the last two years. It's seven and nine. If you had to identify the biggest reason why this team has regressed, and I know they've had some injuries to but overall if it's not the health of the team, what's the biggest thing that you look at? Why this team wasn't able to recreate that magic from 2016 and 2017? I think their inconsistency ball on both sides of the football in conversion, down situations and in the red zone. I think Atlanta's done a great job of moving the ball from 20 to 20 But when they get in the red zone, they bogged down and settle for too many threes. And I think in turn the defense's side of the football. What about 22 23 scoring defense coming up 25 points a game. They've got to find a way to get more stops in the red zone. That's probably the answer that you could probably get from all teams struggled and not made the playoff teams, but I certainly think That that's identifiable with the Falcons over the last couple years, the inability down deep in the red Zone both on offensive defense, Julio Jones, he's Ah Hall of Fame player. We all know that one of the better wide receivers in the league He's only had one year of double digit touchdowns, going back to 2012 when he had 10 TUC maybe 10 touchdowns in his fortunes this year. Well, I think he's certainly capable of it. But you got an outstanding receiver on the other side of Calvin Ridley, who's realized his abilities down in the red Zone Pretty close. I think Aidan hearse is going to be a seamless transition from Austin Hooper tight end spot So there are a lot of weapons from that Ryan to get the football too. Don't forget Todd Gurley and how good he is at the back catching the football as well. So I I would say no, I think he's going to be 89 touchdowns. I don't think he goes double digits, but I think there's a lot of guys around him. They're going to score touchdowns. Look for guys somewhere between 13 14 guys catch touchdown passes issue. Say that we appreciate it. Thanks so much. You be well, my

A Song For Peace
"This is the story of a song that is in a way the story of this country in the spring of Nineteen, sixty-nine at a sidewalk cafe on Richmond Street tucked in from the corner of Dizengoff. Street in Tel Aviv a twenty four year old poet named Yakov or Janka wrote Blit met a twenty five year old musician and arranger named yet year Rosenbloom and the two men became friends the cafe was called California and the. Place, itself said something about the people who made a habit of spending their days especially, their long nights there. The first thing to know about Cafe California is what it wasn't just one hundred and twenty five meters up Dizengoff was a legendary Bohemian cafe called carseat. It had been in operation since nineteen, thirty five, and since then it was the place where you can find some of Jewish palestines and then Israel's greatest poets and writers. On Alterman and Lebron's Sean Ski. Lay. Goldberg. Alexander Penn great writers who had been young and who grew old drinking coffee in the afternoon and vodka in Iraq at night at the simple spare tables of cassette alongside these luminaries in the nineteen sixties. New Generation staked claims at the table, the actor or. The singer Oregon Stein the architect Yaakov wreck there and many others cafe California was not seat from its vantage half of long block away even the young people at seat where old carseat was yesterday's Bohemia California was today's Cafe California was founded in one, thousand, nine, hundred, thousand, nine by a man named Ab Netanyahu who was only thirty two. Then that had lived a good deal of life. Netanyahu was born in nineteen twenty seven in the southwest corner of what is now Iran in a place called Abedin on the Persian Gulf just. Across the border from Bosra not far from Kuwait at six he was sent to board at Saint. Mary's a Jesuit School in Mumbai where you had an aunt, his parents abandoned. Persia. For India when he was twelve at sixteen and Nineteen, forty three, he lied about his age and joined the Royal Indo British Air Force in time after he trained to watch the Second World War wind down at twenty one he came to fight in Israel's war of independence and never left taking a job as an El Al pilot when he was decommissioned. It was with a few restless L. Buddies that Netanyahu opened cafe. California soon, it was filled with the city's young wannabe writers, directors and poets the people most eager to knock from their sinecures the city's old writers, directors, and poets who argued and held forth at carseat. Ab Thanh was a magnet for Bohemians and he came alive when he was with Bohemians, their company produced in him at once a sense of satisfaction. He had found his people but also a sense of restlessness eighty, nine ton was in constant search of his next Gig in nineteen sixty five he ran for Knesset advice of a friend who worked in PR he pledged that if he was elected, he would fly to Egypt to meet with General Nasser to seek peace after he failed to win a seat in parliament, he anyway bought a nineteen twenty seven steer. Not an idea was that new music might open minds in Israel Egypt. The station eventually began to broadcast in nineteen seventy-three as the voice of peace
Join Us in Prayer for Our Nation
"To join us for the call center. I'm John. Stonestreet, this is great for. Christians should be among those most deeply concerned about the divided state of our nation left versus right mass. No mass reopened versus stay at home virtual school versus in person raised politics police abortion religious liberty not to mention the remainder of what certain to be brutal presidential campaign. The issues we face range from essential to non-essential on essential matters, we should mourn deception and vowed to fight. For the truth on non essential matters we should mourn and hope to overcome division God's people can neither stay on the sidelines nor run away from the struggle instead knowing there is no hope other than Christ. We must ask onto mercifully powerfully mobilize us is people to advance that which is true and good if Christians are to speak with clarity courage and confidence and to be the. Of Truth and love and a world of Noise Echo Chambers, then we'll need to be prepared but even perfectly crafted arguments cannot replace Shut Colson would say the church being the Church speaking cannot replace being and to be the people that God calls us to be right now, we must rely on prayer. That's why each and every Wednesday morning between all the twelfth of November, the fourth, and that's the morning after the twenty twenty election the Colson center will be hosting a national prayer time the a Webinar we want you to join US each and every week to pray first and foremost for God's mercy. But that he would revive his church that he would bring about a renewal of righteousness that he would empower us to courageously offer protection for the most vulnerable to champion reconciliation across our deepest divides and that he would. Allow us to be instruments in the sustaining of religious freedom and the recovery of the family in our nation. Each prayer time will feature a devotional challenge and a prayer by Christian leaders such as Oz Ganesh Johnny Eric's Totta focus on the family President Jim Daly Woodside Bible Pastor Chris Brooks and watermark pastor Todd Wagner as well as at Stecher from the Billy Graham Center and the Heritage Foundation President Keiko James Now due to the limited capacity of zoom there will be limited live spots each week available to everyone who registers However, each weeks recording will be sent to anyone who registers so come to breakpoint dot org for more details and Fiji's Paul tells us that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood but against the rulers, the authorities, the cosmic powers over this present darkness against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places when people see us their enemies, it's difficult to remember that they aren't our enemies. So what we need to do as Paul Instructs this put on the former of God Faith Truth Righteousness Peace Salvation the word of God. And he says praying at all times in the spirit with all prayer and supplication keeping alert with all perseverance making supplication for all the Saints, and the Book of acts the earliest church activity we read off is prayer thousands of people from completely different backgrounds came together in one mind one art in prayer with one accord. That's what acts chapter one, verse fourteen and Chapter Two versus forty. Two seven says than what happened with the Holy Spirit moved in the world was never the same in fact, every spiritual revolution in history. With some kind of unified persevering prayer the very first outpouring of the holy. Spirit. In acts to the great awakenings, the businessman's revival and the Welsh revival story after story, you read the same thing people prayed God's spirit moved on the other hand every Christian history who was able to persevere and righteousness. Temptation or persecution without seeing revival in their lifetime they also did that through prayer. Our prayer of course cannot force God's hand but are only way forward is to seek his will together are purse can't control God. But we can invite him to change our hearts and minds including our own gods always working in our lives whether we realize it or not. But something powerful and world changing happens when people pray for God's spirit to move. The, Great Jonathan Edwards urged his fellow pastors to quote be much in prayer and fasting both in secret and with one another it is God's will. He said that the prayers of his saints shall be great and the principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ's kingdom in the world. When God has something to accomplish for his church, it is with his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayer of his people Paul even tells us to pray for all things at all times for sesame chapter five specifically for our leaders both spiritual and secular as what the
A broken system, a broken city: Beirut
"In Beirut yesterday countless people began the painful work of fixing homes devastated by a massive explosion on Tuesday. One woman who'd mlk posted a video of her mother-in-law playing the piano as others swept up broken glass. The music is bittersweet, the city is reeling. The moment of the blast no one was quite sure what had happened there was a deep bass sound for seven or eight seconds there was a rumbling. and. We thought it was a localized explosion, maybe a gas main that had blown up across the street or a car bomb in the neighborhood. Greg Carlstrom is our Middle East correspondent. I A cafe. everyone, of course, left the cafe and started making their way home and it was only on the way back down towards the three Indian towards the ports that I started to realize the scale of the damage. There was, of course, broken glass everywhere carpeting, all of the streets all at the sidewalks pass through an intersection where there were several women sitting in the median holding cloth scraps of fabric bleeding from the head they'd obviously been hit by glass. And every building that you pass by not only the windows blown out but the aluminum window frames blown off. So. You realize that this was not a localized incident, but rather something that had affected the entire city center. The blast was felt as far away as Cyprus it registered as an earthquake in Jordan. It had come from the port of Beirut or something had set off an explosion of staggering size sending up a white mushroom cloud then a vast bloom of orange smoke. Yesterday the government placed a number of court officials under house arrest and again investigation. Declared a two weeks state of emergency. Residents are still coming to grips with the shock of the blast. Felt like it went inside us like a best our soul the way. I saw something bright and I lost my hearing for few seconds. An explosion just went out. The human toll of the explosion has been catastrophic the death toll officially more than one hundred so far, and that number continues to grow as rescue workers find victims who were buried in the rubble more than five thousand people injured by the blast and many of them had to go into a hospital system that was already stretched thin. We've had a spike in corona virus cases in Lebanon over the past few weeks, some hospitals themselves were damaged by the explosion hospital Saint George Hospital across the street from where I live. was so badly damaged that it had to halt operations and when I went by the hospital, you saw patients some of them still wearing their hospital gowns with intravenous lines in their arms bloodied from flying debris and shrapnel for nurses were killed. Fifteen patients on respirators died when the machines failed the other immediate impact is according to officials in Lebanon about three hundred thousand people were left homeless by the explosion. About five percent of the population of the entire country and what do we know so far about what caused the explosion? It seems to be the result of unbelievable negligence even on the scale of the perennially negligent Lebanese government back in two thousand thirteen customs officials in Lebanon confiscated the cargo of a Russian ownership that was traveling to Mozambique. The cargo was two, thousand, seven, hundred, fifty tons of ammonium nitrate, which is highly explosive chemical that is used mostly to make either fertilizers or explosives from mining and quarrying and other industrial uses. So this material was confiscated, it was put in a warehouse at the port and for six or seven years it just south there there was some talk of maybe exporting the stuff for giving it to the army to use but this required approval from the Lebanese judiciary that approval never came you've had officials at the ports and with insecurity agencies who warned this was tantamount to keeping a giant bomb on the doorstep of the country's capital. Those warnings went unheeded and of course, tragically on Tuesday it all exploded but I mean what kind of government would ignore warnings about tons and tons and tons of explosive material just sitting in a city centre the Lebanese government would it's almost par for the course for Lebanon's political class. This is the government that for more than a decade could not agree on a budget. This is the government that for almost thirty years allowed the same central banker to run the Central Bank Lubin, and to run effectively state-sanctioned Ponzi scheme to defend the currency peg it's a country that created a political and economic model that was totally unsustainable. Invested hardly at all in basic services even in good times, Lebanon can't provide twenty four hour electricity routinely struggles to pick up the trash piles up in the streets. It is a perennially negligent government and this is of course, a catastrophic example of that but it's of a piece with the behavior of this government over the past thirty years. So this is a population economy that was suffering quite a bit even before the blast it was the country has been slipping into a profound economic crisis since October the the currency. Lebanese. Pound which for decades has been pegged to the dollar. Began to break away from that since October? It's lost about eighty percent of its value on the black market which has contributed to runaway inflation in a country that imports almost everything from food and fuel to consumer goods. So, inflation running around eighty percent right now and for food around two hundred percent prices have become astronomical this summer we've had fuel shortages that have caused blackouts in Beirut normally three hours a day stretch as long as twenty hours a day this summer and the backup generators that people rely on to provide electricity when the state cannot those are either burning out from overuse or running out of fuel just one crisis after another point. which has led to widespread poverty in the country the the official figures the government thinks around half the country is now below the poverty line that could rise as high as seventy five percent. By the end of the year, there's been a spike in petty crime driven simply desperation. There was one man who was caught on TV robbing a pharmacy for diapers another man who robbed someone at knifepoint on the streets and a once busy part of town, and then came back to apologize for doing it and said, he he needed the money to his family. So it sounds a a years long problem has gotten really quite a lot worse very recently mean why hasn't the government been able to sort of keep things from getting so much worse? The current government was installed in January meant to be a technocratic government that would tackle this economic crisis and negotiate a rescue agreement with the IMF but. Six or seven months later it's made almost no progress. The negotiations with the IMF have really stalled at this point they've had about twenty rounds of talks. But is not even really negotiating with the IMF yet it's still negotiating with itself. You have the cabinet on one side. And the parliament on the other backed up by the banking sector. which are having this very arcane dispute about the scale of the losses in Lebanon's financial sector about how bankrupt the country is effectively. And so you have this surreal situation where instead of Lebanon negotiating with the IMF Lebanon is negotiating with Lebanon. The Fund has told Lebanon that talks are not going to advance unless there's an agreement on the size of the losses or if the cabinet pushes through a few meaningful reform of capital controls, law changes to the electricity sector things like that. Neither of these things have happened and there are increasing calls for the government to step down. Do you think that's the way forward I? Mean, what do you think should be done here to to bring Lebanon back to? A functional state though the problem is if this government steps down what replaces this government and a lot of the pressure on the government right now is is coming from the traditional powerbrokers in Lebanon the sectarian X. warlords who have divvied up power in this country for decades since the end of the civil war in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety, this power sharing agreement they have it was designed to keep the peace and prevent a return to conflict after the war. But it's been captured by the. Hands up power based on sect, which runs a massive patronage network The World Bank estimates that it costs the country about nine percent of its GDP each year but if it were to step down without broader changes to the country's political system in this power, sharing system would simply be replaced by the same cast of characters who have ruined the country over the past thirty years. But that power sharing system was was there to to keep the peace to prevent a return to civil war, and that was the argument for years for decades when people in Lebanon would complain about the corruption and. The negligence and the inefficiency of their government, the response would be well at least this is better than a return to the bad old days even before what happened on. Tuesday even before the explosion though that argument was beginning to lose its weights with a lot of people here you have a younger generation of Lebanese who don't have the same memory of course of the civil war that their parents or their grandparents had, and so as the country slipped further and further into crisis over the past year, people have been more willing to to break away from this system than they were before. And I think the argument that well, there could be violence if the power-sharing system was stripped away after what happened on Tuesday after half of Beirut was destroyed by the incompetence of this government I think that argument is not going to carry with a lot of people.

Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter: COVID-19 Outbreak Happened Because Players ‘Let Their Guard Down’
"The cardinals of the latest team to suffer a corona virus outbreak resulting in their four game series in Detroit being postponed the I. of course, was the Marlins. Here's Derek jeeter their man in charge describing how his players behaved before all this happened. Oil. Down to on this particular trip was. Guys were around each other got relaxed in. Let Their guard down. There were getting together in groups. They weren't wear masks as as they should have been warned social distancing of the entire traveling party is responsible for not following. The Protocols has instructed that that includes staffs, players. Everyone is seen seen the impact. They've seen their teammates, you'd sick. As I bring the Jeff Passan and Jessica does in Jeeter did go on to say, I think this is important that he had seen as we all have people suggesting that when they were in Atlanta, maybe the guys went out to bars and clubs and all of that strongly refuted that notion he was saying, yes, they got lax in some of their protocols, but it wasn't like they were out there doing things that were like super erase. I just thought that was important to get in. That said Jeff, what does the League's response to the Marlins, and now the cardinals outbreaks tell us about what we should expect for the remainder of this season. Greenie tells us that Major. League Baseball is saying damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, we are going to play through outbreaks and we saw that with the marlins and we're seeing that now with the cardinals, seven players on the cardinals have covid nineteen six staff members as well. Those thirteen people have been sent back to Saint Louis Right now is the cardinals trying to figure out what exactly they are going to do. They played only five games, this season Greeny, and yet the fact that they're missing potentially at least another four games possibly another week of games on top of that. MLB says, okay. This is this is reality if we want to put a baseball season on traveling around the country in two thousand twenty and it is a reality that they are embracing in full because at this point, if there's going to be baseball Greenie they really don't have another choice Jessica. What do you think? I think that honestly, this is something that's going. We're going to see it again in another team I hate saying that, but you get one player and that's what jumps out to me. So much is now seen it with two teams in a week or one player has it, and then the next thing you know you blink and overnight five, six, seven players get it, and I think even talking with, Mike, Chill, the cardinals manager everyone realizing how quickly this can spread and that's something i. feel. Feel like we're gonNA see continued throughout the MLB
Going old Turkey: a regional power spreads
"A decade ago, Turkey's Foreign Minister Audit of Attalou used to boast his country was on good terms with everyone police fantasia want. less confrontation, less tense attitude. Especially, in the region, he spoke at the Council on foreign, relations with the will of the principal. In. Two thousand three. Zero problems with our neighbors. And the made a huge progress. All, that now seems a distant memory Turkey is growing its international influence and not always with a light touch. The country has been backing Libya's government in its civil war. Last month. The Turkish Defence Minister landed in Libya to inspect his troops and opposition warlord warned them to get out or else. Turkey prompted an angry statement from Egypt last week by allegedly planning gas exploration and Egyptian waters. And yesterday Turkish officials railed against an American company for its dealings with ethnic Kurds in neighboring Syria. That Turkey believes to be terrorists. To some, all this adventurism is reminiscent of past chapter of the country's history when the Ottoman Empire ruled all of Syria and far beyond. Turkey, has been playing an especially prominent role in Syria since protests spread into a full blown civil war. Turkey has really become a meshed in Syria since the start of the our spring, the uprisings that took place in two thousand eleven across the Middle East it back. The Islamist. Movements that initially took to the streets and then took up arms. Nicholas Pelham is our Middle East correspondent. But as those fighters were false back towards its border, it's really stepped into try and protect its southern border, stop any more refugees coming into the country and to provide some sort of safe zone for the proteges, and it's also very nervous about the current state law that emotion the northeast of the country. It feels very threatened by the emergence of Kurdish power on the southern borders, and is it reasonable for Turkey to think that those Kurdish forces are really a threat historic? The have been links between the PK, the cuts down Workers Party, which has been waging a thirty five year a war for. Autonomy and separatism inside Turkey. Many of those fighters did flee sought refuge in Iraq and in Syria, and so Turkey is worried about what it sees very much kind of PKK influenced state emerging on its southern borders. So this year it's been launching pretty heavy attacks inside Iraq, it's been sending tanks across the border. It's established positions inside northern Iraq. It's been carrying out drone bombardments, such two hundred kilometers from its border in Saint, John More, Kurds all the way along its southern border inside Syria inside. Iraq see a new Turkish assault, which is pushing deep into their territory and not just unsettling. Kurdish aspirations for sovereignty in Iraq and Syria, and this is also unnerving Arab leaders as well. Who Turkey pushing deep into territory, which was part of the Turkish Republic predecessor. The Ottoman Empire, which ruled the Middle East centuries until its dissolution about a century ago, which is to say that Turkey is expanding its influence is doing this adventurism beyond Iraq and Syria all over the Middle East of the moment. There's a this year has seen the new intervention of the Turkish, Army. Libya. They came to the rescue of the besieged government of National Accord. In Tripoli, which has been fighting a civil war against a renegade general. Khalifa. After Turkish forces established at base on the borders of Tunisia, we're seeing it's frigates make a bid for control of looking coastline and even ward off French frigates. We're really seeing a substantive increase in Turkish. Power across the Middle East and it's not just happening in Liberia. It's happening in Gaza, which is an ally of Turkey. Turkish forces there have tried to help. Cut Break Its blockade by Saudi Arabia they're. A. Few hundred to a few thousand Turkish forces that are they're wasting more Turkish interested in Yemen civil war. We're seeing interest in a Sudanese port and actually Turkey's largest overseas basis in the point of Africa. So really this is a massive increase in Turkey spread across the middle, East and do you believe that the the the Ottoman history plays into that as a return to former glories? In some way? It's very much the in the rhetoric certainly saw Mr. Osman tropes at the at the height of the Arab spring wanted to appear to be the leader of the Muslim world. He was promoting his version of governance across the region hoping to clone the Turkish model across the Middle East. But since the collapse of Islamist movement since its as from power in Egypt and the retreat of many of its forces, he's really kind of played much more on Turkey's national interests. He's ally domestically with what had been his nationals opposition. He seems to be much more concerned on trying to maximize Turkey's economic claims in the. The Mediterranean this since much more about promoting Turkey's national interests than flying it systems colors. This is really an exercise in in hard power and trying to exploit the weakness of others, the retreat of Europe and America from the Middle East. The policies of many Arab governments, and try and push Turkey to fill what seems to be a vacuum of power across the Middle East, and so is that push to serve Turkey's national interests working is, is it benefiting from this from this expansionism? If you're trying to put together a balance sheet of profit balance sheet? Sheet Turkey has benefited from Khatri investment cutters, loans, and investments have helped prop up the Turkish lira. It may be that country's also hoping to fund part of its military costs in Libya Turkeys, keen to promote its companies when it comes to eventual reconstruction of war-torn Libya, which after all is energy rich state, and so long term, there may be benefits, his critics home highlight, the cost it's estimated that Turkish operations in Syria have cost anything up to about thirty billion dollars, and of course, there is a threat that you're going to see a major escalation. Escalation in the Middle East, which could embroil Turkey. It's not just Turkey is entering the middle, East enforce. It's also Russia. Many Arab states are trying to gain Russian support to push back Turkey, not just Syria Egypt the United Arab Emirates looking to Russian support in Libya, and Egypt is sending its tanks to the Libyan borders. The UN warned that the risk of a of a regional war focused on Libya and beyond that that risk was huge. So this is a massive gamble and it looks as if the stakes are going to be increasingly hyphen

Does 'The Wicked Stepmother' Still Feel Wicked?
"Dish. Sugars. This is something I've been struggling with for a while now and it's awful to write it to another person but I have to. I'm stepmother and I hate it. The advice I get from everyone is that I knew what I was getting into and I got married. So I should accept it but he didn't anticipate things being the way they are I thought I was mature enough to handle being stepmother, but maybe I'm just a total monster. That's what you are. If you don't love your step children like your own. I met my husband when we were in high school and even then we fell for each other. However, before we graduated, we had a fight and I went off to college with our relationship unresolved. We didn't talk for eight years aside from a few token conversations during that time, he had two children with another woman two years ago we reconnected online and all those feelings were still there and we begin a relationship. At the time I was hopeful about being. And sure that I could be a good one. So when we moved in together last spring jumped in with both feet they were five and two when I met them three years ago and fairly easy to deal with. Now they are eight and five am overwhelmed with how annoying are I face pressure from all sides to be their mom and I'm not. They have a mother even if she's not around as much as she should be. To complicate matters, I gave birth to my own daughter in June and I didn't anticipate how fierce my feelings about her would be my desire to protect her is so strong I don't want the other children to touch her and a terrible feeling fills my chest when I see this, I can't stand it. I know this is wrong. I am open with my husband about my struggle but I know it hurts him that I don't have a wonderful mom like relationship with them I know I'm. Supposed to treat all the children in the house exactly the same. But I'm finding this impossible. They're not babies and they're not my babies. They're just not I try to be present with them for my husband because I love him more than the world but I never thought it would be so hard. We have a weird home life now because he thinks he needs to keep them mainly separate from me I try to suggest spending time with each other, but he doesn't want me to be unhappy. I don't know what to do I know my feelings are not the right ones for this situation and I'm not the cuddly woman his kids desire I know these children have been hurt before Anita loving home environment I'm trying but I'm failing I don't want to be their mother I WANNA be my daughter's mother I. Don't want them to call me mom and I know I'm supposed to. When the kids are elsewhere I get glimpses of the life I could have had if my husband and I had just gotten together sooner but it's the ship that didn't carry US I know this but I want it I grieve for it. I know that the only possible answer is that I should have known what I was doing when I married my husband but not marrying him was too much to bear and our daughter is so precious to me, I know his kids are precious to him and I try to look at our life through this lens, but it's so difficult and I know I'm so awful I try my best to be kind and sometimes we have good moments but most times I just want this season of life to be over I. Hope. Things will improve and I know that it's up to me is the adult but what if I can't hack it would if I am just the evil stepmother, I don't like feeling embattled in my own home I don't like being such a monster I don't like feeling so much pressure from everyone to be a saint and to love them like my own that may never happen. I don't feel it I'm supposed to but I don't feel it. I know it's not right. I know it's not I know signed the wicked stepmother. That's a hard. This is a really hard ladder. Yeah. I mean I think it's one of the bravest letters we've ever gotten. Yeah. I think it is so extraordinarily rare for a stepmother. Especially, you know she's stepping into this role to say I am having these terrible feelings conforming to every stereotype, but I'm having them I agree with you. She's so brave and I also love that she doesn't put her feelings on anyone else. She's not blaming the kids for her feelings she's not saying, well, I would love them but they do this and then they do that in how can I love them? I know. I should feel this way and I do not. And I think that it's really important for the purposes of our conversation that we're going. Just take this idea off the table that we could stepmother should be doing anything what this conversation is about wicked stepmother is what you're feeling what moment you're in your life right now and I do want to remind you and our listeners as well that this is a moment this is a snapshot of not just any moment but a really. Powerful and powerfully stressful one. She says here we moved in together last spring. Okay. She's known the kids for three years. It's different to know a couple of kids and to have them move into your house. So they all moved in together last spring. Then she says I gave birth to my daughter in June doon doon as the month spring turns summer. It's okay. So within the span of one season, she has become the stepmother to two children in a way that she. Hadn't before and also she has become a mother and I know from experience. But we know this just from a biological standpoint. When you give birth to a baby, you have all kinds of hormonal changes that are about falling madly in love with your child and a huge piece of that is that deep animal to protect your child. I have so many friends who have the beloved dogs or the beloved cats and they bring the baby home and they're like, don't touch the baby. From the baby and the older don't touch the baby. So this I just WanNa say wicked stepmother. This feeling you have isn't an indication that you're a terrible person. You won't always feel this way about your daughter you'll always love her you'll always want to protect her but right now those feelings are heightened.
Meet Stagecoach Mary
"A No! That's what I'm saying like. The Postman only rang once. What. What Oh, oh, Hey, we're on! Hello, everybody! My name is Mick Sullivan and welcome to the past and the curious. This is episode number forty six, and we've done an episode about male done episode about trains, and we're kind of talking about both of those things again, but it's two completely new stories. One of the stories you're going to hear is about owning the dog. And I need to think friend of the show Michael. Fleming for his great reading on that one. The other store you're going to hear is about a woman who was generally known s stagecoach Mary, or at least that's how the history books remember her, but her real name was Mary Field and she was a very interesting person. Helping us with that episode. Doing a bit of dialogue is my friend Molly Victor from well. She's the creator of stoop kids, stories, which is an awesome podcast. Part of kids listen highly recommend. Check it out. Be sure to stick around for some songs at the end and patriotic shoutouts and a little bit of fun hiding out there promise. Let's get started. Robbers didn't scare fields. Wolves didn't scare her either. She had held her own against many even deadly cold weather was of little concern to her. Actually for that she had developed a little trick to stay warm and not freeze during these particularly perilous nights to keep her blood pumping, and your temperature up Mary would pace around her wagon all night long to keep from falling asleep. She figured if she did fall asleep in the cold, she might not wake up. A night without any sleep was definitely better than a morning. That never comes as you can see. Mary took her job seriously she had made an oath to the United States Postal Service and had become the very first black woman to have a postal contract and a carrying route with her wagon and team of horses she was responsible for hauling mail and freight through remote areas of Montana, meeting the train and cascade and navigating to Saint Peter's mission. This is how she earned her nickname stagecoach. Mary the fact is she didn't take that horsedrawn wagon to get mail and freight until she was well into adulthood. For most of her life, she wasn't stagecoach Mary at all, but instead Mary, fields. She had been born on a plantation in Tennessee around eighteen, thirty two was never sure about when her birthday was. Like the rest of her family Mary had been enslaved. Forced hard labor in the field was the fate of many enslaved men and women at this plantation. And Mary grew up to be a powerful young woman who worked beside the powerful men. She was tall over six feet by most accounts, and she had a broad, incredibly strong. Now, eighteen sixty five brought an enforceable end to enslavement in the United States, and while many emancipated men and women stayed near their families and friends. Mary immediately left Tennessee in search of work. She I found it on the river during Poker Games and bull sessions later in her life. She liked to tell the story of her job on a riverboat. The Robert E was a steamboat named after the confederate general on which Mary worked in eighteen seventy, there was a famous steamboat race down the Mississippi River from Saint Louis to New Orleans between her boat and another steamer called the NACHOS. Nearly, everything moved at a slower pace in the eighteen hundreds. So it might be hard for us to understand the excitement of a race travelling at an average of fourteen miles an hour and stretched out over several days. Wasn't a slow as molasses, but it wasn't far off. Nonetheless, Americans paid attention. The plotting pace of the race lent itself to the. Of the day, as the steamboats paddled in pushed their way down the river, small towns with Telegraph, the time, each vote passed by two newspapers, print and several daily editions. As exciting as it might have been to track the progress in the morning and evening editions of the newspaper. It was certainly more exciting to be at Mary Shoes, which were on deck or at sometimes below deck by the boiler of the League. She were called the crew feeding the boilers with anything. It would burn to keep the steam earning the paddle wheel. They ran out of wood for the fires. They'd stoke it with other things broken up furniture old clothes, even somebody's desk. What ever it took to win the race? She said to that end. They actually through a whole side of Bacon in the fire. That greasy smoke may have been the key. The League won the three day race by six hours not long after this through the connection of a passenger. Mary went north for a different, even slower paced work. She arrived in Toledo Ohio for the job. At the Ursuline Convent of the sacred heart she served as groundskeeper Gardner, and handled any other jobs for the community of nuns who lived there. In exchange, the nuns gave her a room board and a paycheck Mary definitely stuck out amongst the backdrop of Solomon religious ladies, sharing space nothing about the holy environment could stop Mary from yelling at them or anyone else. Who messed up her meticulously kept landscaping.

"That? Are there any lasting remarks? We WanNA. Make about the NFC south whether it's an as a whole as a specific team. Thought. I agree with that. Brad a man. For All the hype given to Tom Brady in the bucks. I think they are the most disadvantaged of the teams because they're replacing their quarterback. They're not trying to rebuild. They're trying to replace and get to the playoffs, and like the panthers who are sort of rebuilding and saying you know what happens, what happens? They're trying to rebuild with a forty nine year old seventy eight year old quarterback in a season where he cannot. Get with his players in the off season and fat from a real workouts, but yeah exactly so. Like they are going to be behind the eight ball. Dramatically and that I think people are underestimating that, so you know go ahead an predict the bucks you're GonNa, go fourteen into. I I'm BRAD THEM WITH YOU A. Aid is feels like the right record for them. I mean they might win nine games I just I don't see them being thirteen and three fourteen, and to like you know just as well as I do that. All the media outlets are going to say because Tom. Brady is there now. It's just like Cam, Newton is suddenly. A good guy and he did a lot for the community, and all that other shit that we've known about for eight years now has just now being talked about. By the mass media because he's in New England instead of Carolina, tell a bunch of bullshit. The one thing to I will say is that. Even though it's Tom Brady, he's one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time one of the smartest quarterbacks of all time. This is a new system and. It's not like Jameis. Winston was a dumb ass. He had been in the League for many many years. There's trae sufficient evidence to say that he is a dumb ass. I don't thank think you lead the League in passing. And you're a dumb ass. That's just. Steal crab legs from Publix. Even say. Odeh from a Wendy's with the Little Ketchup Cups. Well, I guess I guess. My point was from a football IQ. persective. I don't think James. Winston Stupid, okay! Yeah, okay. I'll give you that Where Tom Brady has been in the same system, his entire NFL career that he now he's GonNa. Go Learn Bruce Arians system. That is very very complex. I don't think Bruce. Arians is smart enough to say. Hey, it's Tom fucking Brady. Why don't we just do what you WANNA do? Well! Why didn't he do that with James Winston? James. Winston wants to three interceptions Jameis Winston through. His first and last passed last year was a pick six. Isn't that glorious. That is the best statistic of all time. No but I. don't think anyone will ever do that again Yup. Anyway go Dimaggio's hitting streak. I don't think anyone will ever do that. Anyway, the point I was making was simply that. Tom Brady's gotTA learn new system. For the Falcons obviously, they got Matt Ryan knows the system. And he knows most the players around him. The saints. Don't need to learn new system. The panthers it's it's a new system, but teddy bridgewater is familiar with it. He's also familiar with Robbie Anderson from his time with the jets So. It's one of those things where it's like. How does the preparation intact? Going forward with the twenty twenty NFL season like. It's difficult to project that because it. It's not your typical NFL offseason where you get the whole. Training camp period to really learn the system and move on and. It things going so that could be a major disadvantage. The buccaneers, so that's that's kind of where I'm at I'm like I'm very curious as to help. Fast can learn system and learn everything. Obviously if there's any quarterback in the league, bet money on doing that in this time. I would say Brady is the guy, but we'll see. So. It's Marion. She south a very interesting division. Regardless yeah I would be. Really I wouldn't be surprised. If every team finished like seven and nine, and they're all fighting playoff berths. Happen how we win. It's happened before. So for the ray last piece before we get off here, I'll just Give us a little roundtable. START WITH W. W? WHO's one of the NFC South this year? That's a great question. WanNa go homer and say the Falcons I have no faith in Dirk Koetter. So I think that you know Falcons will improve, but not enough in. We're GONNA look at a turnover in Falcons next year. Unfortunately I think the team that has most continuity. The Saints Will Probably Win The division. But I predict a disastrous playoff loss that will further crush their fans in send drew brees out in perfect style with a disastrous run of playoff losses that will overshadow his one super bowl win that he off of a defense that. Had the legal bounties injure other players. Sounds Fair to me I. Enjoy that Brad What about you? Well I personally don't think anyone will win the NFC south because I don't think we're going to have a season, ooh! But if we do it, the saints are GonNa Win I mean. Like he, he just said you know they're the most consistent there. They have the least going against them right now. They don't have a new coach. They don't have a new system. They don't have a new quarterback they don't have. Dirk Cutter. Just. You know I mean I. Just I see the saints winning. If we play a full sixteen game schedule, they'll probably win at least twelve games, and that'll be good enough to win the division, but I honestly. No joke I don't think we're GONNA have. We're not GONNA have a sixteen game season, and if we have one at all, it probably won't be more than ten to twelve games. I agree with that and my prediction is the Falcons for that reason. Because I think the Falcons had the best continuity procedure. In place for their personnel, as far as offense and defense goes and I know that. They turned it on quite a bit at the end of the year last year. I. I have a hard time. Believing that there had coached will find a way to fuck it all up again. So I think that if we're in a situation where we're playing twelve games, ten games are reduced schedule I think the Falcons of the most setup for. Being able to start end go from last season. So that's where I'm at but I could also see the panthers somehow firing off like ten wins for no fucking apparent reason and making the playoffs. Because that's just the way this year is going to go. But if if you if you put a gun to my head and said put money on it, I would say the Falcons because I believe that their offense is better than the saints, and I think their defense was much much much underrated against last year I. Think they have a much better personnel. Wise defense than people give them credit for so that's where I'm at the Falcons of the better team in the NFC. South..

"Don't you give us your favorite saints blowing it moment? You know what it doesn't even have to be the play offs because they've blown it so many times we can. We can celebrate them all still. I'M GONNA go back to this past season, and the Falcons were on a disastrous skid that everyone was convinced was going to cost the entire coaching staff. Their jobs the saints were on a roll. Drew brees was coming back. The Falcons go into New Orleans a massive underdog. and. pull off the upset and. You know new, Orleans had every. Analyst in football, predicting them winning by three or four touchdowns, because I think had the felt it. Falcons have won one game at that point. And, they looked real bad. Yeah, OH, yeah! They were quite awful. Believe me and. It may not have been the playoffs, but watching the falcons go in and just punch them in the jaw. and. Remind them that in rivalry games records don't matter nothing matters. was. From my standpoint, it was great, but just the fact that you know. The two teams were on two different trajectories. People were already saying. This is the saints year. This is the this is their super bowl run, and this is where drew brees goes out on top, and the Falcons came in a arrival in just punched him in the mouth. It was glorious I would have enjoyed it now if it were the panthers, the bucks just because the the saints were on this. This wave of just patting themselves on the back, and they Scott it in their home crowd, and it was, it was glorious to watch. Fun Fact. The panthers almost did the same thing. It came really close with kile Alan at quarterback in New Orleans, and the almost did it I think they were may like a touchdown, short or something like that. Yeah, I watched that. That was hilarious because the whole time I was like on twitter as the handle as I usually am being like. Oh, we're going to get screwed and then like. They, they stayed in. Somehow it was pretty fucking awesome Let's see. Do we get Brad? Do we get your favorite I? Think we did. Yeah Mine's the Minneapolis mayor whole. That, we get your favorite. You gave us too so I think we're covered on that front them. So. Well I mean I i. really don't have a favorite I enjoy thoroughly anytime. The Saints Look like. I just I I've never really felt this way about another franchise I enjoy every moment of pain every ounce of tears. Shitty thing that happens to them brings me great joy and pleasure. I agree on Amen, I absolutely. Despise the new. Orleans saints absolutely despise them I I, was rooting against them when they came back from Hurricane Katrina. That's how bad how much I don't like them. They're just such self insured honest like they. War Grocery bags over their head for thirty years, and they had one winning season, and then they thank their the the. Like the fucking seventy steelers or the Patriots of our current present day, because they had one successful year with Asterix next with an asterisk beside it and you know just fuck them like. Five. Routes Orem another thing I really enjoy about saints fans is that they believe they have like. The A quarterback who's better than Tom Brady. When really he's just kirk cousins.

"Back again. This is Brian joined by Brad and not John. Are you doing. A all things considered get say I'm doing. Good Doing well as always good, I believe the world has certainly gotten into a much bigger shit show since last time I spoke. Isn't that true every single day. Yes! It's just a mindless just. Just? I don't even know what the word is, but just path into the apocalypse I. Think is where we're going right now. To see the rapture going on soon, people floating in the sky naked. It's just GONNA be Great. But at least we at least we're still here to talk trash about the saints. WHOA WHOA WHOA. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hold on, hold on, so. For those of you who have heard the voices that you probably don't recognize from a regular basis I have Gina. From the Falcons Alec. And I have DWI alcoholic are. Frenemies from twitter. And it's always a great time talking to them on the keep sounding podcasts, we always have great conversations, and totally not singling out one NFC south team in particular. So gene. How are you doing this evening I'm doing great Brian Thank you for asking. How are you? I! Am I'm something DWI? How are you? I've watched Hamilton five times since. It's good though so I can say them doing very well. Yes, Hamilton is excellent. All right then. You should watch it Brian. I I will I'll do that. I'll watch that so the reason why we have you to on here is its rivals week on SP, nation, and so I I was really really. Dumbfounded about who exactly in the NFC south I would consider to be the biggest rival team that I really hate the most I wanted to kind of get the roundtable going here and just figure out what team we all hate the most in the NFC south, so I'm going to start with deep. WHOA, WHOA, go ahead, Brad take. I. Don't think it's really a secret. I mean it's. I think everybody knows. Why don't they speak for your fucking? Self, grab. Well that's doing so. We're just going to assume that the buccaneers do not exist correct. The buccaneers. Don't exist. I mean to be quite honest. I actually Kinda liked the bucks because they have a pirate ship and their stadium. Yeah, well. As a dead man, but in the control room. Big Red. Button says dead man on it and. Allowed to push it. I don't know why, but some in Tom Brady with that button because he's five years old. You know they had to sign Tom Brady just to stay relevant. Really. Spend too much time talking about them. They brought Tom Brady back from the dead, so he could lead their franchise to another seven and nine record. Bell, don't go eight. At least I think. Is probably worth one win. It's amazing that every year the bucks win the off season. It's like Oh. Yeah, they made every perfect. A maintenance relag or this way. And it's. where? They retained Shaq Barrett. So they're. They're in good shape, right? All shape. They just can't can't ever do better than eight. Because he always disastrous something always happens mostly for the last five or six years. It's been Jameis Winston, but. Usually I mean you know like like just said they always win the arms, but they can't win football games. Yeah, and I mean personally I would rather win. Football names that make I would too yeah. Winning Football Games is always a good thing. But. Yes, speaking Jameson it seems like he went to another team this off season I'm trying to remember. yeah. It didn't move wiry for now. I don't think that he did I. Think he's still on the divisions he with you guys. Know we signed Teddy Bridgewater. I know they're both black, but that they're not the same person. I'm just kidding. Anyone listening just so you know. But Anyway Jameis Winston. Yeah, he didn't go to. He didn't go back Tampa now. He didn't Elkins. The Falcons still have Matt. Schaub I believe the greatest quarterback in NFC south. His I think through, yes. So, he must have went to What's that team's name? frailer Jaguars. Nope, I, think might have been the saints the. Saints. hilty ever. I thought they had tastes them Hilda. I thought that meant they were like rock as far as quarterbacks went your hall of Famer. Tastes and Hill. Yes. quarterback to yes, of course of Morlin Tim, Tibo. A perfect way to describe. Allen. For John Locke. Oh Excellent? So I guess that means that Jameson, an taste health, future hall of Famer are backing Breweries and he is what one hundred eighty three years old, or I can't remember that birthday. Only twenty two and advocate years. Aim that she'll keep you alive for a long time. You just gotTa. Make sure you recruit at least eight people every few weeks. So, you could suck on their blood like. Dracula, Yes? So if you, if you sell enough, you get a fine fancy diamond ring. Just. Don't go get that verified any. Man I. Cut up a round table this week. For Rivalry Week and On one of them I had done. One of them had the most unflattering photos. Sean Payton and existence look. I actually went through the photo, Solo and chorus. That! Was Great Yeah. It really was I'm super proud of it. And I got. On twitter there is no such thing as a flattering photo of Sean. Payton, which is true yes. He, just licked nine volt battery. has that Sour puckered look on his face like all of the time? Painting legitimately looks like he's always hopped up a mountain dew. Interestingly that sour look on the face is actually a symptom of excessive Vicodin us, just saying I'm not getting anything. I'm saying that is. There's two unrelated things in this podcast. Advocate have like their own version of Vicodin. Probably problem. It's like a fruity. Carbonated drink adver Dick. One of my favorite things about the saints is. They tend to. Blow it in ridiculous ways in the postseason, and so I was just wondering you know what's your favorites? Saints blowing it in the playoffs moment. Oh Man, there's a lot of them. We might need to break every single one of them down. It's like six podcasts worth the. Time for that Gina. Rickel, though because it simultaneously the vikings curse is lifted because they are known to choke, and the saints were heartbroken at the end next time. It's a double barrel there I have to and just hear me out I'm kind of torn between these two, so the first would be in the NFC championship game where they went into overtime with a hall of fame quarterback, and could not score, but still blame it on one blown call even though they had. Win and then. Place. Any and then when they. Began the. Everybody rest up as reps and I'm like. Why are you dress up with that like them? To Make Fun of them doesn't make any sense. Ah Bats then. I think about the beast quake gain when. That was great on the seahawks were seven and nine got to host a home while Arcane. Because they won the division and yeah. They knocked the saints out of the playoffs in the same. Mobile aspirations that year. Not. Having a losing record and winning a wildcard game that you win against the team with a record in you. We know that from experience yeah. We do. No, matter feeling that is my favorite season of all time when we went seven eight and one and won the division. I remember that. Greatest achievement in all of sports, you guys winning. The division is what Got Mike Smith! Up. You're welcome. Thank you. Anyone onto trump to torment the buccaneers for a few years. He's fun it was. So. Just add some context to the reason why I said that happened twice. Gina as far as. them going to overtime, not being able to score a technically did because obviously we all know about the rams game, and that great great defensive play by the ran to cause the completion. This past season they actually also went to overtime against the Vikings. And lost. They didn't even get a chance to touch the ball. Because Kirk cousins roasted their second year with Adam, feeling. That's right. And then they had what was what I would call an absolutely great offensive play by Kyle Rudolph to score a touchdown. Game. That's right. Yeah, I remember not going. Yeah, the vikings literally ruined their their whole lives. In into twice in what like five years like? It's Great I. Just Love It. But Yeah I think. My favorite is definitely this past year. Just because they made such a big deal about pass interference, and then it.

"You got brees or Brady and what did you think of Jordan saying what he said about Brady questioning. Brady give me. The box. Says a team over the saints team. Give me breeze over Brady individually but I mostly here for the pettiness and the potential there in Tony because over this next season. We're going to get to quarterbacks angling for the career record and touchdown passes breezes currently number one six ahead of Brady. I just want the saints to be as petty as possible when they are trending spots both teams. They should be stopping games. Bring up weird denny's placard with like a number of using new Bob. We're not doing that. Every game alternate gay. Pablo to pick the bucks over the saints. Requires you to believe a lot of things that a forty three year old quarterback still has the skill that the offensive line can protect them. That the bucks will figure out the running back position that they haven't yet and allows some depth to that offense. They got a ton of weapons but they need to be able to establish the run too especially with braids mobility and then just learning a whole new system after two decades somewhere else. I think it's going to be a fun challenge but I'm taking breeze as a quarterback and I'm taking the saints as a team and I think it's totally fine to ask who is without Brady Brady without village. That's question all right. I'm going to reward that. Take Give you a point Sarah Spain. You're in the lead right now. We go to buy or sell by herself. Wanted to being he's working out in Houston and I'm wondering whether you're buying including a cloudy doesn't have a job right now. He told the local Fox affiliate in Houston. He's ready and all those injuries yet last year or last year and he will be ready to go is even open to returning the seahawks. So there's some question whether that's possible Meena. Maybe you could shed some light on that and by herself cloudy physician I'm buying. I'm selling the idea that he doesn't have A. I'm selling the idea that the seahawks who desperately need pass rush aren't bringing him back even though there are legitimate questions about his health his pass rush productivity.

"So Larry Steve gleason blocked punt propels the saints to a twenty three two three victory in their first game back at the superdome and not play really becomes a defining moment for the city of New Orleans and you recently dug up your old notebooks from that time. What did Steve gleason say about being the symbol of this comeback after that blocked punt? He's a different kind of guy. He's from Spokane Washington good athlete but not one of the best players on the team. He's always kind of been one of those kind of folk heroes with the saints even before that because he was this smaller guy. Special Teams Guy Hairs flying. He's running around throwing caution to the wind. Lucky married a New Orleans girl and really kind of immersed himself into the city and you just remembers how his dad he was watching in Washington. All by himself and Steve Blocks upon his dad's cheering jumping up and down saying he blocked any blocked. It and no one's really arrived. He's just celebrating by himself. But the legend of Steve gleason grew because of his battle with ls and all the tremendous things. He's done just for him. He has learned to embrace that moment. And I think that's something that he's cherished and we'll cherish for the rest of his life. Another highlight of that story from your old notebooks was Joe Horn. And he's a former saints receiver. Big Personality probably best known for that touchdown celebration where he pulls out of nowhere. He pulls a cell phone out from under the goalpost padding. After scoring a touchdown. There's a new one got his own phone. He hit his. We had his phone in the end zone. What did Joe Horn? Tell you at the time about the importance of the game. Joe Horn is certainly one to speak his mind. He was certainly a player. Who during Hurricane Katrina was vocal? He felt like there was no way he could play it in San Antonio. If they would've stayed there he would have been done with football. And then when the saints return he was literally saying and he had to say this to me several times because he didn't want to. Just make this like Oh. I'm just saying this just to say it. But he kept telling me that he could have died in that field that night and his career and his life would have been made because he got to play in the superdome. One more time and the saints returned home guys with this game wraps up tonight. You think people are GonNa enjoy going to celebrate. They'll have a big time tomorrow. Morning's GonNa come and all the problems that people have won't be here tonight will give him a chance to step away and employ a moment. Never thought we'd see when you're watching this game. What lessons from that game and from the recovery of the city? Can we apply to you today? As New Orleans in Louisiana and again the country is going through something. Devastating right now might sound corny. But I just feel like people need to band together. It's different than giving each other literal helping hand. But you've got to give each other a figurative helping hand practice. What's being spoken social distancing and that sort of thing soak new that gave him is symbolic too. What we're dealing with now and what could happen if you do things the right way and so personally? I'm born and raised in this area. My wife is from New Orleans. My kids were born in New Orleans and I think it's kind of a sense of pride that maybe I have in that. Even that New Orleans has to show in a sports sense that wherever? This light is at the end of the tunnel. It could be like this. I think that's a really unique thing. That really only New Orleans I can show in a situation like this Larry. Thank you so much for joining us and I hope you and your family stay safe down. There could be the hope. We can talk on some brighter times in the future. Definitely you can follow Larry. Yeah it seems to be. I don't know something you should call if you ride the tractor. If you weren't riding the tractor on Long Island just something I grew up with and I refer to them I and when I call them dungarees now it'd be looking at me like what are you going to. PTI boys and girls in today's episode. Tom Grady ponders his future. Josh Allen takes takes the blame in the cowboys but we begin today with the biggest upset of the weekend Minnesota ousting New Orleans from the playoffs on an overtime touchdown touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph that pass and catch was ruled legal. Even though replays make a strong case that Rudolf pushed off to gain position. We'll by the saints. Were hosed once by the League in the playoffs that was last year once by terrible play by their own defensive back the year before the saints get hosed again no because I I can go back in that same clip right there point to you that the defensive back for the New Orleans Saints has both hands all Rudolph is both. He doesn't get the extension. Rudolph gets a little bit of an extension. No is hand fighting that is not a penalty is not close to a penalty. It doesn't need to be reviewed it doesn't even need to be discussed discussed. The saints have plenty of opportunities to put some distance between themselves and the Vikings. They couldn't do it. They couldn't stop kirk cousins. I I know they got holes last year and a lot of people and made them sentimental favorite because of that yes. This doesn't meet that test. Okay so I'm watching that game and I agree with you that the saints had a lot of opportunities Tabriz was not great. Had A bad fumble late game fumble of the Ye through pick in the game now he he was not great although when tied it up. I figured everything. I didn't say they're going to win. I I look at that play and I think it is probably offensive. Pass interference is it egregious. No I don't think it's that but here's the thing if I'm correct on this. That was the third downplay. uh-huh okay so if they call offense a pass interference and it goes back. The likelihood is they're going to end up with a field goal and if they end up with a field goal in overtime. I'm the saints. Get get because they get the ball back. I just look at them as as I think. It's heartbreaking what has happened to. They were in a walk off three consecutive times. Yeah and by the way can I just say this about her cousins on through criticizing he dropped walked down the chimney to Adam feeling thousand. Great this. I'm not nearly as down on kirk cousins. I'd trade my quarterback for Kirk cousins trade your quarterback for anybody or not anybody but but we're not through. You texted me this during live said you've done criticizing him until Sunday because he's one one. Does that send you put your goal jacket now. Knowing what he played played. Well say about that phrase Dalvin Cook can run it and I'm feeling and digs. He's got he's got wet. Yeah Yeah So. They were down there and they want. This is good puts heartbreaking. It's hard it's heartbreaking. John hosing is the different things and their means they both begin with H is okay go ahead. There are millions of people out the way Tony who would disagree with your assessment and proclaimed the titans winning in Foxborough over Brady umbrella check being easily. The big upset of the weekend not that previous game is not. The people didn't Zia coming because a great many call in advance still to see the Patriots. Go down like that. In a wildcard game was studying reality. Tom Was the result more about the rise of the titans with the fall of the Patriot. No disrespect titans. It's about the fall of the Patriots at this point and I told you on on Friday I would take five and a half points all day all night. I wasn't sure the Patriots would lose but I was sure that Tennessee would cover. Let's look at this team for a second. They started out eight. No the last nine games. They were four and five. That's good they don't have any particular offense they we could argue as to whether or not that's because brady or lack of receivers who get had any particular freedom to catch the ball and I'll tell you that edleman missed a very key off. CD's good receiver very good receiver and keyed opportunity but to me it's about the Patriots and then you spend it forward and you ask yourself. Is he coming back. Is Tom Brady coming back to the Patriots. That's true just divert for a second and say Mike Paul has done a hell of a job. Yeah team including the quarterback switch earlier in the year and by the way was she got seventy two yards passing and they henry. Henry is a beast. That's why so that's my interests it is about the Patriots. The Patriots are with us all the time for the last twenty years. It's about the Patriots and when you see the Patriots unable to convert their Dallas and I know I am influenced by Randy Moss saying. Can you get Tom. Brady's I'm in fluids by that because it wasn't put time Randy. Moss was the help for Tom. Brady I get that but this is also about Tom. Brady we all knew this was going to end for everybody but let. Let's look alluding Tom Brady. He can't play forever. My feeling. Is that if Gronkowski was there all year. If Antonio Brown was zero you they would one but be that as it may. They're not there. Do you think I think that Bill Belichick wants Tom Brady Bill. Bill Belichick's Mo through six championship seasons to get rid of has been to get rid of people earlier done with the Brady early. Not early anymore. Rootless visits the question is is the Turk GonNa come calling for Tom. Brady radio can can you see. Because here's the problem. Bill Belichick may want that but Robert Kraft obviously does not who wins. That battle graft wants him to return. Yes yes and Brady. It sounds like lawns to guess but do you think he will return. I think the question is bill. Belichick desert return. I'm thought of that. We were talking about this everyday from now until this time we spend on peyton manning. Yeah we'll be more that absolutely Houston be buffalo and overtime on Saturday after being down sixteen nothing to Shawn Watson had the highlight real all to himself after avoiding two bills who are going to sack him in the overtime after the game. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen said. The loss was on him. A woman. I don't think you believe that. But as Allen Right. I don't but Josh Allen Look that look he had the days confused look at the whole game he had the look of. Oh My god God. I'm in the playoffs now. Didn't like the lateral backwards to know that that was creative. No I he just looked overwhelmed. overwhelmed although he made some big play he made some of his feet. I mean too much throwing. The football does Shawn Watson that one. That's a highlight. Reel take for all time Yup bouncing off those who guys are being able to complete their past either one alone should have been taken down. That's right and it changes the game. Yep I just first of all that game was characterized as you know by a period of about two minutes of the dumbest decision making in the history of NFL playoffs and very few people. Call it out and I said to you in a lot of time Tony. Nobody's GonNa talk about this will but was stupid. Are The decisions made by those to head. Coach is Sean mealtime on McDermott. With three timeouts left in his pocket and no offense to speak of let let his quarterback go on four. Twenty seven for Josh Allen. Can't twenty seven hundred if nobody else. Their offense stinks it it was I think. Twenty third in the League. And so what is what is that. What are you doing? Kick the travelogue feel go punt the ball and the ball go puck seconds later. Go ahead explained that one second bill. O'Brien four that tells you more pressures on Bill Brand. Because I I don't know what he's doing. Half the time he he winds up on fourth and inches going punt the ball or ten thirty forty five punt. The ball are leading the game. Look look the reason you don't you can't go on reason you kick the field goal. Is that forces buffalo to score touched up. Yeah they can't do do they. CanNot score a touchdown he makes it so. I don't understand either of those I'll give let me give the Shawn Watson numbers from sixteen when it down sixteen nothing from that point on on. He's thirteen or fourteen hundred. Ninety three yards one touchdown passing one touchdown rushing said. Somebody's gotta be great. Why not me give them all the credit but it is overshadowed it from me by crazy? Bad Decision Dumbness dumb bowl out. That was one. Believe very exciting. Very thrilling and terrible but we the only early ones calling on others may have gone to dinner. I don't know there's a bunch of stuff. We could review from the last playoff game of the weekend. Sea Hawks Eagles we could do the the entire segment or Russell Wilson and all the savvy and brilliant plays he made. But we're going to go somewhere else telling me directly Davey on cloudy landing on Carson Wentz his head and essentially causing the concussion that took the eagles starting quarterback out of the game and May philly play with eighty-seven-year-old Jospeh cow who the Great Dennis Green was once hot to trot for. I think in two thousand and five not so much now. Tony was cloudy dirty first of all and did that. One action determine the outcome. Well it's helmet to helmet on the slow motion replays. It looks really really bad. Was it intentional. I was targeting. Don't know all that and I'm inclined to say no. It wasn't but doesn't matter took him out that's right even if you penalize act is going to undo no he's Carson Wentz in the sense he's now four years in a league three years back to back to back in the playoffs and he hasn't even played a full quarter or the playoffs. I am beginning to look at him as a tragic figure. Something out of Shakespeare. 'cause I don't know where it goes from here I don't either and I feel bad being being critical of him at all which I'm not going to be because there was no fault of his own. That's right he's laying face down on the ground with a two hundred ninety pound dude just just smashes his head head into the frozen turf. I know where you're going with this. I don't even disagree but the Eagles one thing. Let me say this about the Eagles Tony because I was sort of rooting a new half SORTA I was rudy outright for the seahawks. The Eagles have some guts. Gusty are toughest they treat fighting you. EBB counted not make a single serious mistake. You get into the end zone game now to report. What about Russell? This why I thought I thought Seattle would win. Russell Wilson now eight one on the road this year. Russell Wilson does something that every quarterback should learn how to do. But he's a baseball player. He he slides than anybody goes quickly so nobody hits him and he lives to play another day. Russell Wilson Garages Ages in cheese. Headland to cheeseheads Russell's his last last year was you got the king of the cheeseheads Aaron Rodgers that game right now sitting here right now. I'm going to take Green Bay who you but we've got a week to figure it out. Let's take a break coming up boys.

I mean there's a decent chance they can catch the Vikings. It's not great but what I love is that they're just running the ball period and maybe it's because what he said they're not falling behind early on. It's not like todd. Gurley is setting the world of fire. He's averaging about four yards a carry in these last couple of games but he's still getting the ball all twenty five and twenty three times. Saddam's year for those in the scrimmage in the trenches. I know that we move by herself. Three he's not able to run as well as he should be able to As well as he knows and that's frustrating him Wouldn't handle the right way and our training room so It is what it is. Dr Baker Mayfield talking about Odell Beckham junior kitchens coach by the way said maybe not talk about other people's injuries there. That's what he said. There was also the J. glaze report. That Beckham is telling opposing teams and coaches. Come get me out of here. Beckham says that's not the case that's been like every every other week Israel. What do you buy what you sell from sleep? Well I'm selling that. That's the only reason the training room that he had an issue all season long. I'm sure their chemistry was not built properly Odell Beckham out. Ota's not participating and everything else and so. There's a bunch of reasons but in terms of Baker Mayfield I think he's essentially having his teammates back. He's giving Odell Beckham. A reason to stick around at your quarterbacks always GonNa have your back regardless as opposed to everybody else saying hey he wants to be on the door. I think Baker.

"Win and the best resume. It's not even much of an argument to me but I do think that anybody that would have ended up. Playing Clemson would have felt on lucky. Because we've been holding clemson up to the standard of last year to this standard of. Oh they need to be good to be number one. And just because maybe they didn't beat North Carolina by enough. I think we're going to face them was going GONNA be upset and like George. I think they're GONNA win. Yeah the committee got right. If I'm Utah I blew it. I had a chance to get into the top four but maybe the best story worry will end up. Being jalen hurts a guy the Alabama transfer wins. You Games win the National Championship. The pretty cool. It's already a great story. He's made the playoffs but Alabama dinner. Yeah we'll move on Rams twenty-eight see off well the La maybe you've been looking for all season and a regression. The seahawks folks maybe even flirted with old season. LA's next three games at Dallas. At San Fran hold for Arizona while still again back to the Detroit who was at chargers orders own packers home. Bears can see right there the odds so they might be bullseye wop rats and a t sixteen high to get there but what he would did you find yourself last night looking at reassessing the rams more or the seahawks just the rams got to the party too late that it's already started started and it's GonNa continue without. The problem was that they got behind and Games. Golf really hadn't played well until we've just seen recently. They're probably using girly the way they're supposed to. They were saving him and it took too long to get to him but the.

"Yes that tells you a lot that Jimmy Garoppolo could win a shootout on the road remember. They're down with fifty three seconds to go because they didn't convert the two point conversion the saints. I'm talking about. He marched them right down the field so on a day where their deep Anson have it. Jimmy Garoppolo had and that play by kiddle that is the defining moment omen of San Francisco. And you didn't believe San Francisco could beat New Orleans or even go into New Orleans now seeing the NFC as it is. Frank are the forty niners the favorite. I would say right now because a very good chance they'll get to play home games. which will be a big difference in the NFL? Gutierrez Frank. It looks like sounds like you had a rough rough weekend man up there also. This is crazy impressive. Sometimes sometimes you can just simplify things and say hey they the forty niners have not scored this many points on the road since nineteen ninety-three this was a heck of an exclamation point type of performance. And you can say about both sides of the ball New Orleans when they're at home on their defense had been playing great Several Times this year and San Francisco's defense had been the thing that's carrying them. But if we want to be critical of Jimmy Garoppolo and wonder what how good what. He isn't times that they're winning in spite of him that we have to give him credit for this because this was a masterful performance and coming at the end even I mean we want to get killed all that credit but he Jimmy Garoppolo Rappalo got their made the right decision. I think this makes them the favorites to me by the way frank voice. That's because of that jets dolphins game right in your face Gutierrez heated. Nobody cares about. We'll get to that game later but nobody cares about that game. Would he page. Would the forty niners show you well Israel first of all. That's the first time in history that we've ever had in NFL history. We've ever had a forty eight forty six hundred bursary. Wow is that. That's something but Garoppolo. We talked about the backward. George was picking them as the best team in the league. The fact that they were winning almost inspired him and then he turned ended around. Here's what I think makes the forty niners now. The favored the NFC. That's because they were prepared last night for Seattle and you say what does that mean need that is the strongest indoor crowd anywhere in the NFL in the King to pardon me in the superdome now go to Seattle which is allowed his crowd anywhere. Outdoors Doors Orient Doors and they'll be prepared for it. They said they handled in environment last night. While they'll have to do it once again in the last game of the season and I think if you look ah forgive me. Look at the schedules of all those teams that the forty niners position now. They've proven it with their defense now. They proved it with their offense and their quarterback. Let let me just see that chalkboard behind you right now. What page is that a banana nut muffin? Duct taped all right. There are basil. I see what you're doing all. Alright Georgia donohoe. Take the points because he had Francisco weeks ago but what did they prove last night. Well I'm going to disagree with woody about winning in spite of Garoppolo Garoppolo in his last three games the packers the Ravens and the Saints Game Has One hundred twenty nine quarterback rating and again seven touchdowns only one interception against three playoff-caliber type teams. The other thing that I look at his George biddle you look at his career thus far how important he is not only to grapple a success but just the overall not success in the first three seasons historically only three other guys have more yards ahead. Mike Ditka Rob Gronkowski in this. Offense is humming at the right time to go with the defense that had been basically been the key to their success early. I sold you want to add the last word and that key play that fourth in one play once again in the safety of the Saints Chauncey Gardiner. Johnson he was involved in so many big plays that kept every drive alive. Important Dr Alive for San Francisco. So if I'm Sean Payton. I'm concerned about my pets. We were up thirteen. We had a lead in the final minute and we couldn't get it done interesting. You said that after the game he was exasperated. He just lost. It was a great game but he just lost the game. Allow Forty eight points but the first thing he said was about the offense like we had some more chances to score points. brees threw five touchdown scored forty six. If you look at the defense a little bit all right all right we've been warned we're GONNA move on we look at the chiefs.

"I'm your host Michael Sizemore. You can find me on twitter at Mr Sizemore who can follow me atmosphere sizemore also follow the show at Bruce in the boys with me as always he's the man of the hour of he's too sweet sweet to be sour but we're both a little sour day. It's Mr Tom. Reid gay indeed the cowboys voice. Take their first loss on the season. It was a horrible Sunday night football game twelve ten the final score the saints Aints New Orleans Saints kick four field goals and the cowboys having been the only team to score a touchdown somehow still l. Lose this game twelve ten Tom just what just what an. I wish. I had better better words for it Tom so I just I need you to just. Can you quickly some this game up yeah obviously since the game ended last night. I've been you know thinking a lot about this trying to find a way to distill thing down and be able to put put a simple yet clearly and maybe just a touch of eloquence as to what exactly happened and after really really grinding on it I've come down to this that sucked back in just if I how it is the worst thing the absolute worst thing to me. was that onset of Lenihan flashback just why are you handing ending the Baltic Sea Hilo yet on first down so that you can get two yards get behind schedule and now you're struggling against this saints saints team that is coming with gangbusters pass rush. They only got one sack. You know very light that was very damaging to the cowboys and more than one but the deck was under constant pressure and was not having time to read the field which meant that he wasn't finding the open receivers and the receivers just weren't getting open Marshon Lattimore just had a Amari cooper blanketed and as he was over the top two yeah and and and he just Cobb and Smith just weren't getting open enough he actually had a little more success with the tight ends uh-huh had the biggest play to Blake Darwin but they just they didn't have the answers and I think this was the game where we finally saw the fact that Kelly Moore is a rookie and that there is still a conservative streak Jason Gear in the Dallas cowboys line of thinking aching and they were in a very hostile environment with lousy field position for all but one drive to start and they just said okay okay. We're going to hand it off to Zeke and we're going to try to make something well. Nothing was happening and I could see doing it a couple of three times but they had seven consecutive. Give us on first down. After their first two I douse they passed on it has success and why they just you know went out. There said okay. Let's five five the biggest. Bo Solid Wall we can and just run our head to it over and over again. I don't know and you know you talk about. We talk about Dak Prescott in the third quarter well. He was amazing for another third quarter but it was just that was it. The cowboys only got one possession in the third quarter because the saints held onto the ball dare time of possession compared to the cowboys in this thirty six minutes to like twenty one minutes for the cowboys there was it was just under twenty four. It was just over thirty six hundred twenty four what I think we're talking about. Sixty percent is the wave of math goes the time and you're talking about. Tom Broke Dak goes down there. They score a touchdown. You talk about the blade jarring in play then the Zeke Elliott runs in for the touchdown but then after that they had nothing nothing they went. It's like you know Dak.. Prescott Cinderella turns back into a Pumpkin like I think just you know it's kind of kind of risky to try to understand the psychology of what was going on but I I really think that with the saints were able to hand the ball flew the rest of the third quarter and Bob Sturm had up a number number up that I'm going to have a what am I post coming up that they had like a the last twenty two minutes. The Saints held it for twenty for seventeen of them only gave the cowboys five minutes to work with and that was where the The Dallas defense you know okay. They limited the saints too. You know just a few more yards than Dallas. Neither team had really effective events except the saints kip getting some first downs keeping those drives alive light the game. A Dallas was just sitting there helpless on the sidelines and you know you could talk about a lot of things and people are GonNa talk about officiating eating. Well you know it was bad on both sides in the game. It really was so that's kind of a wash for me. Guess who want to spend much time worried about that but I will say this and you can talk about the Zeke fumble. Well like you had mentioned last night Tom. It was so close that you can't overturn something like that. It's close. It's close both ways. It looks like the ball's coming out before is although goes down. Most people are like his elbow was down. It's very close there happens is two of your best players being Jason witten and Enzi Elliott. Just they shit the bed. They and that's what they did and you. You're pounding on the I think the most important nail in the coffin that was the Dallas US Dallas losing this game and that was that whitten and Elliott who actually maybe bubbly more more than we really should be comfortable with but the that's also coming up to one of my post but and it's it's something I got from John. Owning he pointed out out but they had both of those were dries where the cowboys cowboys had gotten out to midfield and if they had kept the ball on both of those drives they had a real shot at going down in scoring at least a field goal which at all I would've needed assuming assuming that the saints thankfulness scored any more points than they actually did but those over just crushers and I think just those two plays probably probably more than any other factor were what caused the cowboys the game because when you lose the turnover battle and the cowboys will they lost two to one they they had that interception on the very last lighting with it they they went down and kicked a field goal and no donald under such. I mean the intersection that Dak full day. The last flight gathered Mary trying to win the yeah. That really does a tractor in because you know it was the last play of the game and they would have had the scored on the play but the the two to one turnover ratio just best. That's not good and they Komo. They got three points. All they did offer the interception but they'll new Orleans can only get three points total off of the two turnovers. It was what it took away from Dallas and scoring opportunities it took it. Oh yeah boy time destroyed the time and that that's what New Orleans new they were doing there. They took the time away from Dallas but you talk about this team. He's talking about these two teams here and these being litmus test for each other. You know the cowboys got a win last year. There was a thirteen into tin dredging fest like this but not didn't seem knee early as as bad of a game I think as this game Kinda was but the test here is the cowboys didn't pass the test that the cowboys offense did not pass the test they in so many ways. I don't want to beat you know I know we're beaten meeting on the offensive play calling and stuff like that but it deservedly so I think because the way that they came up with the plant in executed you did that plan had them beat before the game even began at best. I cannot disagree with you on that. I think I think it was what they did before. The game started what they went in with their mindset what they were thinking of doing was was for the crucial mistake was made and the they just they need to get away from this relying on hand off to Zeke to start a drive. That can't can't work. It works against the dolphins works against the giants. It works against Washington. It does not work against New Orleans. Yeah and you know it's it. Probably we is not gonNA work against the Green Bay packers up next so this defense is even better yeah the their offense also was having having struggles Aaron. Rodgers doesn't look like Erin freaking Rogers this year but he'll probably Aaron Rodgers Aaron Rodgers really jealous brother but he's probably going to rise up and have a better game than normal just because he's playing the cowboys which seems to always find a miracle taste of this yeah he does but it's GonNa. It's GonNa you know. This is going to be a real gut. Check not just for the team but for the coaching staff they've got a really look at themselves and figure out why this went so wrong and what they need to you do and if there is a concern I have it's that I don't know if Jason Garrett could just break free as they okay. We're going to commit commit to more passing and use the run when it's time to dominate clock and takeover a game or use it on those short yardage situations situations in other words. He's gotTa start thinking like the analytics community and understand the passing as you're more valuable play. If you look at the the results of this game the slow it'd success they had was what they were passing. Charlie downs yeah and you know like going back to what I said about. How the the way they set up for this game had them beat before. It even began air that that goes to I really think if you look at this game it could it could go either way and the way the cowboys were doing the game planning. They wanted to win a game like they did last year on Thursday night football thirteen in that they were playing they they were not playing to stick a knife in the New Orleans saints which by the way the New Orleans Saints Defense was one of the worst at stopping scoring drives in the red zone one of the worst at getting the opposing offense off the field one of the worst at at points per game they day came in here and the cowboys made them look like world visas and that starts with what what we're going to talk about coming back from our break which is how just incredibly tore the cowboys offensive line play and we'll be right back on the Bruce of the boys check out the American Ninja Warrior podcast for a behind the scenes. "saints" Discussed on The Lead
"Today's episode is brought to you by the new film from Twentieth Century Fox Ad Astra Brad Pitt Stars Roy McBride an astronaut on a mission to find his his missing father traveling to the outer edges of the solar system he unravels a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet and uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human human existence in our place in the cosmos Ad Astra in Theaters September twentieth. The fate of humanity depends on one man either. What's at bonders well before we we get started. This is the very first episode of the League and since you and I are the hosts. I thought maybe we should just quickly explain what the show is so. The lead is the show. I always wish existed. I'm a sports writer but I was a sports fan. I and it's really all about great stories great stories from great sports reporters who are all over the country. I mean these are journalists who live in these cities and no these teams and new these players where you don't have to to be a fan of those teams or those players to care about these stories for example in this first episode you talk to Larry Holder who has covered the New Orleans saints for Almost fifteen in years about why that terrible call last season provoked such an unprecedented response yeah and it really helped me to understand why why saints fans did what they did and why fans at yesterday's game were so demoralized. It's really something anyone can identify with so. Should we get to the story. Let's go for it so Larry. Let's start with a very basic question. How important is football is the game of football to the city of New Orleans. I'll just put it to you this way win. Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans August two thousand and five and of course everyone is recovering from the storm. People are literally taking their FEMA checks to by saint season tickets gets. That's how important the saints are to this community and I'd say without the saints returning to the city at that point. I don't think the city would have ever actually actually rebounded so I would say unlike many if any NFL fan base within the League all right so let's go back to this incredible no call its last year's. NFC Championship game the saints in the Rams are tied in the fourth quarter and the saints look like they're about to score and and book a trip to the super bowl walk us through what happens next. Tommy Lee Lewis who is really kind of an unknown receiver within the saints receiving core. He's not one of their top targets. He's basically running free down the sideline breeze. NICKELL robey Coleman in absolute desperation in flies basically headfirst into Tommy Lewis as drew brees has a perfect pass incomplete. No flagged Tommy Lee Lewis to officials are looking at each other. One looks like he's about to take the flag out and throw it a second one basically says no no no and it's not pass interference or a helmet to helmet call which is also of course you legal in the NFL and the play just goes on so you're you're in the stadium when this happens in. How does the crowd react? It was utter a gas crowd's going crazy as there's no flag right on the state sideline and then of course the replay a they put it up in the on the big screens in the superdome and everyone loses their minds he all he was doing was was staring down. Lewis and just playing the made and you add it all together and it became a complete and utter debacle the rams get the ball back. The Saints Defense is probably a little bit in Shell Shock. The rams drive down the field. They kick a field goal. Send it to overtime overtime the saints. Get the ball first in overtime drew brees hit throws interception which means when the rams get the ball back. All they've got to do is kick a field goal. We'll check is god Ram's on the Super Bowl fifty three they go it was the first time probably in my professional career where I entered a locker room and I was angry for the team that I was covering covering well so you know people always complain about refs decisions and calls and you know it's always very hyperbolic. The worst call in sports history was this it's actually the worst call in sports history instead of using hyperbole and saying it's the worst call I would lump maybe five calls that were historically terrible arable in the realm of sports and that one's in there it's normal to be bombed when you're a fan about your team losing especially in in such dramatic fashion then but saints fans seem to have gone way above and beyond just calling into their local talk show angrily right what what was their reaction after the game even in the in the weeks following well start off with the immediate aftermath say right after the game is over the NFL admitted they messed up head coach. Sean Payton now saying the NFL told him the rest quote blew the call the NFL admitted now they admitted it to Sean Payton. They didn't come out and say oh my Gosh Roger Goodell jusque. Ask had like a mini press conference and said this was wrong. Roger Goodell not coming out and owning it publicly. I think that kind of boiled into you. This anger and fury essays got today and it's terrible. It's terrible call terrible. They should be fired. All refs awful worst. Call ever come are you. It was a lesser woman. I would say something a little meaner them. There's all this anger and it manifests in billboards throughout the city and and boycotts thoughts and parades you know where you at any of those events I actually did a basically an odyssey of going to several events and it was is this big giant HOOPLA party and it had to do with absolutely not watching the Super Bowl ignore that the super bowl was even existing and this was on Super Football Sunday. Yes this is on Super Bowl Sunday. I in fact I started at a jazz funeral that was at the riverfront at the foot of Canal Street. Then I went to another block party that was on magazine Street of course a very famous street New Orleans police blocked it off if they had skits where people were dancing dressed as referees doing this and that anything to take away from the NFL just waiting on the Super Bowl. I think that was part of it. We'll so this is all happening on Super Bowl Sunday and it doesn't end there this actually turns into legal action. New Orleans Saints Season Ticket holders hitting the NFL with a lawsuit those ticket holders say the NFL is wrong by not acting in the commissioner should have done something but the NFL the initial lawsuit was basically claiming that the saints should should be allowed and the NFL should allow the saints in the Rams to replay the game or replay it from that point but even the saints the organization that was totally screwed by this whole thing they have even come out and said no we're with the NFL on this well in Saint have joined the NFL NFL and asking that the Louisiana Supreme Court rule against Saints Fans and the Nolan No call lawsuit. I think that's Kinda telling point. Look we understand how much you're angry about this but we've got to move on this goes a lot farther than just a few frivolous lawsuits this goes oddly all the way to the the US Senate my colleague and the House of Representative is calling for the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to come testify in front of Congress on the travesty that occurred heard five days ago first of all who is Senator Bill Cassidy who spoke about this on the Senate floor Cassidy's in his first term as a senator her and of course he's Louisiana's certainly a republican state and maybe he wants to make a name for himself. I don't know I I wish I knew because I think colossal waste of time a colossal waste of time now every drug sitting on a stool in every bar throughout the nation looked up at that ATV and said there's an affair.

"New Orleans twelve Carolina nine let's talk saints. I Ben Panthers similar conversations to the one. We just had yesterday on the Rams and patriots. And we just had Friday for the chiefs is everything. Okay. Are they the same team? You thought they were for weeks ago? How did this offense? Go sixty minutes scoring just one touchdown last night. Bill flash. We'll start with you would it last night's win question. More tell you about the same. Well, there's going to be tendency to say, well, it's all okay. Because the saints have the best scoring defense since week ten. It's shorts. Defense is doing good. No, no. No. No. No. They always. Okay albums with the offense. Drew Brees the white. They can put away because while you told me to slow down the road. So I slowed down the road. Most unproductive is the most unproductive three weeks in eleven years. The last three weeks he's we completed five passes of twenty yards or more usually the average five per game. Michael Thomas needs somebody helped Michael Thomas out on receiving core. Offensive line's struggling. They had five offensive penalties yesterday. The saints are out of sync. And this is an issue 'cause they have to have him to win another defensive great. But drew Brees is one is going to win for them. And he's been playing. Well, you're put this on drew breeze. Yes. Oh, the absolutely in the office Spain. How about you? They're five and one with the plus one oh six point differential since the midway point of the season. The four times drew Brees. Hasn't thrown a touchdown. The last two years they've won every single time. So yeah, it's troubling that a couple of rough weeks and they've got some injuries on the no in the last two years, not Juneau. They've had some injuries along the offensive line and the penalties are killing them. But we are seeing this across the league the defenses are catching up to offense is the most balanced teams are the most successful the reason I'm not worried about this. What is because they stay still can do well on offense. But defensively they're miles ahead of so many of the other teams that we're putting at the top the bears the chargers and the saints are the only team that can boast both sides of the ball. Not that worried. I go solo how about you. Three straight weeks. I've yet to score touchdown in the first half. But you know, what here's Bill is trying to make this case if they're in trouble. They're good to get home field advantage and in the dome. They're going to be a tough team. Drew Brees, I trusted a playoff game. And they have a running game that can go anywhere now, they're only going to have to play inside a dome, and that defense is a legitimate defense when they needed to make stops. And let's remember late in the game. They had a chance with the game and a touchdown and they fumbled. So they made way too many mistakes. But guess what they went on the road. And they want to go to question. Do you feel the same way today that you did four weeks ago? But the saints your answer is yes, it sounds like Frank Sola. Because you know, what they're going to figure it out because that quarterback is too good in that running game is Bob Ryan, how about you. What everything has to be seen in context? Always. Okay. The fact is that that the Rams have been exposed a little bit that chiefs. We know are not a good defensive team. These these potent offensive teams the one team coming on as the bears, and they may be something you have to walk them getting out is there there has to be judging. There's still better than most everybody else doing it the way they're having to do the thing is this. They're capable of winning in different ways. Okay. They're capable of winning. They finding a way to win. They're they're playing winning without their best stuff. They're winning anyway, because they know what they're doing. And I'm not worried about them. And I'm not worried about drew Brees in the long run. I want to see a lot more negative stuff before I start worrying about do. You use words dispose to talk about the Rams. You're not using the word the saints. Yes. I will use it again in in quotes exposed that. They they're not going to score forty five points a game. We never were brought it up and you say..
"saints" Discussed on First Take
"Rent is going to do the rest. So when you say that I would say to you their offense is just as good as Kansas City or LA's and the defense at least over the last several weeks might be arguably a little bit better. I'm gonna say right now to say to the best team in football. Stephen. I thought you were going to go the chief. So what changed your mind is it just the defense that you saw last night. Well, it's a combination of the fact that the offense is so unstoppable in defense improve it a little bit. That's how the the answer right now is the saints. They are the best team in football. But it is actually because of the defense. Their offense was unstoppable. We know that you know, what other offenses I'm stoppable Kansas City. You know what other offenses stoppable, Los Angeles. You can't stop these offenses. They're all excellent. They're all as bitches about as good as an offense could be the difference is this year. The saints are playing defense in a way that the chiefs art, and the Rams aren't the saints have. Been stopping the run basically all year, they're good against the run. But now last night you saw him getting after the quarterback too. I mean Carson Wentz was totally flummoxed. And when you look at the final score is the outscored the the eagles essentially seven to one forty eight to seven means six touchdowns in a couple of field goals to a touchdown, basically seven to one out outscoring the defending Super Bowl champions. The other thing about the saints is they have home field, the Los Angeles at this moment. And maybe they could even go on the road. If the playoffs were to start at this moment. But it hold drew Brees. It home has been completely insane. But Stephen A not long ago matter of fact last week, I saw your power rankings. Would you have the saints like third or fourth and you were raving about Kansas City? Bush appoint. Kansas City hasn't played yet pizza ranch tonight is your number one. Specifically told you my listeners fluid is Stephen A list. Okay. It's not max is not the NFL. It's not pundits other. It's my list, and it's fluid if fluctuates from week to week sixteen weeks seventeen weeks during the NFL season, you're going to see something every week to says Stevens. Hey list money list. I make the call. I am the CEO it is unanimous vote of one two zero. Okay. It's uncompromising. I do meet. What what if the chiefs go out and stop the Rams to we'll have a different discussion. But we're not have it. I take on Tuesday morning after the Monday night game with having the same Monday morning leading into the Monday night game, which I'm going to be at today bunny. Doing exactly okay last week to make you have him forth. What is it just? Excuse I had them third. So because the two teams ahead of them haven't yet played that the saints are now number one that I expect I expect an epic encounter between the chiefs and the rain tonight, I expect to see great things, and I expect to see flaws in both teams I am looking at the New Orleans Saints, and I'm watching them steam roll over one Ponant after another after another and the big thing for me max, the one thing I have been consistent about what this is that. I think that drew Brees is a league MVP. I've said that for weeks now a lot of people's on Patrick Mahomes tip. Okay. Others have mentioned Aaron Donald and others. I have been on the drew Brees bandwagon for the last several weeks his brothers just on another level. And he's having an all Tom season. And I'm watching him perform, and I'm thinking that that's the difference right now. When you say, I expect to see great things, and I expect to see flaws be more specific what great things. What flaws not only reason? Well, we're going to get into that as the show progresses because we will be talking about the chiefs. And the Rams which is why didn't get too specific with you can get into. It's not till the end of the show..
