Downtown St. Paul utility cutting off coal
The company that provides energy to downtown St. Paul is cutting back on coal. District Energy stopped burning coal as part of its power generation portfolio on March 31, making the St. Paul utility the latest to leave coal behind on the road to reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Nina Axelson, a vice president with District Energy, joined Climate Cast to discuss.

St. Paul's climate action
As part of the American Cities Climate Challenge, Minneapolis and St. Paul will join more than a dozen others in receiving $2.5 million each over two years from Bloomberg Philanthropies. The foundation is led by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who now serves as a U.N. special envoy for climate action. St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter joins Paul Huttner to discuss the grant and his city's climate action.
