"Been doing the six pack. which is how we started answering questions on this podcast before we moved over to the voice mail and email format, I, put out the call for questions. Every Tuesday you guys flood me with questions I pick six that I like here. I also do a mailbox, or some of them go over there, but I pick six that I like. If I pick yours. You get a like on twitter. That means they hit that little heart button there. And you get Nancy here on the podcast question of one from, call me Mr Snider. That's atmosphere. Snyder nineteen, ninety nine. Why did it take its? Why did it take so long to fire Bruce, Allin one forty to one ninety three in one Hashtag. Dan I don't WanNa Kick Bruce L. when he's down, but I think that this part of it was pretty simple. He was brought in as sort of acilitator to the head coach. Mike Shanahan at the time who is really the defacto general manager, so Mike Shanahan was the one doing the team building Bruce was assisting in that doing contracts all that stuff, so he winds up surviving the Shan and firing. They wind up hiring Jay Gruden. They didn't have a great first year. They wind up hiring Scott McClellan to do football. Scott McClellan last couple of years does a pretty good job putting the team together than things go haywire there than Bruce Allin winds up firing Scott, McCoy now he's got more power than he ever did before. So one thing led to another lead to another all the while Dan. Snyder saw bruce. Allen is a key figure in trying to pursue a new stadium whether it was in DC Virginia Maryland and so from what I understand Snyder's desire to get a new stadium was a big part of why Bruce Allin kept surviving, and there's obviously a relationship there. Bruce Ounce family has great history with the organization, but that was a huge reason why. Question number two. This is from Matt Ramos. That's at.

"That means there's not a whole lot going on a bunch of teams. Shut down their off-season programs. I'm at the end of last week. I think you'll see more of that this week. Probably some teams going into next week with their young guys, but for the most part, the virtual part of the offseason program is over a lot of. Of, coaches have sort of felt like they've gotten to the point where they've done what they can do over the computer. They're gonNA let guys go. They're gonNA let their coaches go, and we'll see where it goes from here. We don't know one coaches and players are going to report back the date for most teams July twenty eighth. The question now becomes whether or not they're going to be showing up to camp early. To accommodate a longer acclimation period, or if they show up on time again that report date for most teams July twenty eighth. With the idea that they had the acclimation period. Cancel some preseason games. To accommodate the that that period of time so that's what's ahead right now. We still have plenty for you here. We got two great guests coming in, but we're GONNA start as we always do at the takeaways and I take away for the week. I. Don't know if you guys were watching on Tuesday night, Roger Goodell this actually Monday night Roger. Goodell went on ESPN as part of This return to sports special that all the commissioners on told Mike Greenberg on Colin Kaepernick. If you want to resume his career in the NFL. Then obviously, it's going to take a team to make that decision, but I welcome that support club making that decision. Encourage them to do that if efforts are on the field. But continuing to work on the space, we welcome him to the table and to help us guide us. Help us make better decisions about the kinds of things that need to be done in the communities. We have invited him in before. We WanNA make sure that everybody's welcome at that table and trying to help us deal with some very complex difficult issues that have been around for a long time, but I hope we're at a point now, where everybody is committed to making long-term sustainable change, so my basic. Take away from this is that I think getting Colin Kaepernick on the roster is going to be a little complicated right now for a couple of different reasons. Number one I think it's part of the issue is going to be if the NFL manufacturer something. Does he see that as patronizing? Does he see a team trying to do it to make themselves look good as he see it as the team trying to put the issue to bed, and so rightfully because that trust has been broken over the last three or four years between Colin, Kaepernick, and League there there is the question of how he views and opportunity, if it does come along the next question from a football standpoint. is He willing to go somewhere? On a will see deal. DOES HE WANNA play bad enough? Where if team says we'll bring you in on the minimum, or we'll bring you in less than a million bucks, and there's no guarantee that you're going to make the team, but we will give you an opportunity, and you'll get erupts in the summer and you'll get to get your chance. Is that good enough and on the flip side? How many teams are willing to do that? Knowing they may create a problem for themselves if they have to cut calling cabinet at the end of camp, because remember. Last time con- cabinet play, there were questions that summer over whether or not, he was GonNa make the forty niners roster. They had tried to trade him earlier in the year. They benched him during the year. So the other possibility after now this would be seasons away that he may not be in position to make an NFL team as there, and so that's part of it too i. just think this is. This is not a straight line. And and look like I love to see Colin Kaepernick has left. I love to see how he's able to evolve as a player. You may remember like his explosion onto the scene happened right one. During Tibo Mania in two thousand and you know right after to Tibo Mania, two thousand eleven, two thousand twelve rg three had the huge year was rookie of the year, so while the sort of scheme stuff and the sort of the different types of college offenses were hitting the NFL. Colin Cabernet just right and was awesome for a couple of years in his career, tailed off from there, and so I'd be fascinated to see what the next chapter to that is. I think you know it would be a good message to everybody to see him. Get his opportunity I think some of this is going to come down to a finding a team. That's willing to do it that of course is first, and then be how this opportunity is presented to him and what he's willing to accept, and so there are still some things to work out there. My guess, is he probably you know? He probably gets an opportunity and again then the question would become whether or not. It's good enough. I'm interested to see how all that plays out it's GonNa be fascinating to watch especially. During a year in which for the first time it feels like quarterback supply really outweighed demand where no. You had cam. Newton you still have Cam Newton out there. Joe! FLACCO was out there without a job for quite some time and you know wound up going to a place where he knows the general manager, Joe Douglas was actually the area scout who evaluated him coming out of Delaware. In Two thousand eight in Baltimore. You know you had James Winston available for a long stretch during the off season, so we've seen this off season. It's been a different one at the quarterback position, but I'd love to see what it would look like Khan cabinet, getting on a roster and competing for a spot and the unique thing that I think is going to make it the thing that's unique about this year. I think makes it a little different as you probably won't Cry Training Camp You're not gonNA. Have crowd in the stadium, so you don't have to deal with all that and on top of it. You know I think more teams are probably looking at the idea of adding him from a non football standpoint as a positive versus where you know three or four years ago. I think a lot of teams would have looked at the idea of him. In is like Oh. We have to deal with this and this and this I think is different now and I think that's because so much has changed in our country questioned or a takeaway number two. This is come up. It's going to continue to come up. covid nineteen the situation in Dallas, the situation in Houston Zeke getting it. We've heard now. Coaches talk about quarantining quarterbacks. Bruce Arians in Tampa, brought it up Doug Peterson and phillies and other one who brought it up. To me like the whole idea of what you do. Coming out of positive cases, a fascinating one, and so I like this is this isn't going to affect on Miller Zeke Elliott or any of the guys who have it now. In fact like some of those guys might wind up being better off getting it now because you know they, they would have built up some immunity..

"It looks like probably give me the number two seed I could see see them going on the road and beat anybody so the saints are going to be a really hard out. No one wants to play out New Orleans. What a terrible place to go? Try To win a playoff game But so I look at the saints the packers and and and maybe the the seahawks to me. Well the C- outs have some injuries now. That's that's their biggest issue. A lot of injuries in that game last week. And now they I have a running back so I would say the saints in the packers to me are the best teams in the NFC sage. I'M GONNA use your quarterback expertise one more time and in. He only threw for two hundred yards last night and his quarterback rating was was a sixty and he did throw his first interception in two hundred and fifty past but I fought the performance by Aaron Rodgers. Last night was one of his better performances on the year getting the ball out to his guys short intermediate passes kind of controlling the the pace of the game in a rough atmosphere. What did you see in his performance last night? Well let's look at ELM LAZARD is I'm an Iowa state guys. He's I would stay guy so I'm GonNa give them some props here but he is a guy who's currently the number two receiver for the Green Bay packers. He was Don Jacksonville practice squad last year. he gets released. He signs with Green Bay. He is on he is released by them. I think on the practice squad and and then they signed onto the roster. He's their number two guy and he's making things happen always making it happen one. Because I think he's better than people thought he was. But the way Aaron can distribute distribute the football the way he gets the ball out so quickly. It's just I've never seen anyone. Throw the football the way he does. It's so effortless And he does stay away from turnovers two interceptions all of last year and until last night he had two interceptions going to the football game and he probably takes too many sacks. Oh Man I love quarterback shoot who. Don't throw the ball the other team and Aaron can just He's one of those guys to that. You know I I love the fact that Matt Leflore. It doesn't happen trying to make magic all the time which is why they have that. Running game now But when they need to the fact that Aaron can say hey. Hey we're down by ten. There's eight minutes left in the game. Let's go make this thing happen and Aaron like Russell Wilson One of those guys. I love in that position very good. Hey Hey say thanks for jumping in with us. We wish safe and happy holiday season. Look forward to our next visit. Happy holiday ballots. Happy Festivus for the rest of us. Well done on the way out. Hey John I have a question for you when we come back. Your former head coach had an interview with the Carolina Panthers yesterday. I want to ask ask you John. Kuhn who played for Mike McCarthy what the Carolina Panthers maybe could experience if they decide to go that route one of the movers and shakers in the NFL NFL in this off season. Going to be the coaching carousel. which will that hot stove? League will begin in earnest next week so it gets John Kuhn's thoughts on that Also we're going to check in on the NBA really interesting piece by Sam. AMICK ATHLETIC DOT COM. "So you're AH travel arrangements. Took you back to Green Bay and then down to Milwaukee Wisconsin and then to headphones and all set for this today. Is that your point. Is that that what happened. Yeah I never all the bases you know when the holiday season comes around. That's when the backups. In the in the media industry come out they gotta fill in a pitch a pinch hitter role. Yeah well yeah so. We're all pinch hitting today. But as we're guest hosting on the rich Eisen show my name's Mike Mike Heller. That's John Kuhn. We welcome in sage rosenfels he is. Nobody's pinch hitter with the Athletic Minnesota covering the Vikings side of things but also all things the national football league. Welcome to the rich Eisen. Show how are you. I'm doing great. John Tune understands the value of the more. You can do the longer you stay around and at the quarterback order back. I learned that my career as well. Yeah we're all special teamers right now right. I feel like I'm a goner on the punt team and the holder on I I just want to do whatever I can do to be part of the process which as we speak of that. The Vikings didn't didn't have that last night in I thought that's one of the more surprising overall results of a game that we've seen recently because it was non-competitive with the vikings offensively Sibley last night. What went wrong? I mean maybe everything did but where does it begin with what the Vikings couldn't do offensively against Green Bay. I really thought that was I was going to be a good football game last night and The despite the fact that the packers turn the ball over I think three times that I had one. You lose that turnover battle title by two almost always lose a football game but what happened last night. His sorta the Vikings worst nightmare offensively when they can't run the football. You Know Doughboy Cook is out. Madison is out for the down to their third. String running back. Who might be Navy? Had Ten carriers go into that game yesterday. They couldn't run the football which means that they can't do plaques and and the way the packers played with their defensive end up the field which is the way they played in the first meeting that really takes away those bootleg type play. The Vikings have seized on Alaska season. So that leaves the Vikings with straight dropback pas past kirk cousins thrown in the pocket in the offensive line. Trying to block a very good for man rush and You know that guy is a dairy as she is stud over there. I think really the key to that packers actors defense but when the Vikings offensive line has to just drop back pass And cousins. Get any pressure at all. He can't overcome it and they can't overcome that so when things aren't perfect Kirk. Cousins is at best an average quarterback and last night sort of showed all the weaknesses of this Viking. Dolphins have all starch the fact that they couldn't run the football because they'd have Alvin Cook and they didn't have a madison as two guys and and and they also just the packers played very very very well very good defensively and and And they stop the run which which forced of I have to throw the ball from the pocket. See You did have a pretty darn aren't good career in twelve years as a quarterback in the NFL. No matter backup your time. I still remember you starting and playing some games down in Houston now but as you talk about the quarterback position and kirk cousins with the Minnesota. Vikings is this a situation. Where if Dalvin Cook doesn't come back doc and completely reinvent the way that this offense is is moving the football can kirk cousins create enough for them to make noise in the playoffs playoffs? No I don't see that you know you look around the NASD and it's so balanced this year But if you look at all these teams whether it's the seahawks or the packers or the saints To me those are the best three teams in house. You the forty niners But they all have quarterbacks that can carry. Are Your football team. If for some reason you know they get behind by ten points in the second half or they don't have a running game carson. wentz ends up being and that's another team. That goes okay. All those top teams have quarterbacks offenses back and bring a team back. If some reason there's a deficiency on the offense but Kurt cousins I probably the last of all teams that will make the playoffs in the NFC of all the sixteen. He's the last quarterback in really Put the team on his shoulder older and say okay guys. Let's make this thing happen. I somebody might guard might be. I'll make up for it because I'm GonNa Outta here and make something happen. I if there's different types of quarterbacks there's guys who are playmakers there's guys that have accuracy and this that and the other and then there's guys were just executor's Kurt is just ask execute her. That's the sort of and he's very good at it when everything is perfect but as soon as anything breaks down he really looks like sort of an average to below average quarterback back stage. You play the position in the NFL for twelve years at twelve year NFL career. So you kind of get this. And that I think your last point there might be the most most appropriate of that when it breaks down. And we talk about the upper echelon of the quarterbacks right now that we have a chance to make something happen Brady Brady and brees do it with their mind and their arms. We see Patrick. Mahomes into Shawn Watson and Lamar Jackson. Russell Wilson their ability he to do it athletically end with understanding of the game. Is that the greatest separator of quarterbacks right now in the League is what you do when things don't go as planned and yeah I mean. This isn't seven seven if I was having a seven on seven tournament. I'd be thrilled to have kirk cousins as my quarterback but this isn't seven on seven offensive line. I do break down in the Vikings. Have the second lighter offense in the NFL which means a lot of times. They struggle and just straight drop back pass protection. We usually usually go against Iran. Be because they can. They're quick and they can move and they can run But in straight dropback that's where they struggle so if the Vikings don't run the football and it's like all right we have to throw the ball so many times and we're GONNA have to throw the Boston pocket. PLACHY is not working because they're not concerned about our planet because we're not run the football You have to have a quarterback that it can occasionally at least by time the pocket. And now. That's not always you know Russell Wilson or even as as Aaron has done and run outside. The pocket is buying time inside the pocket Which Brady has done so well? The course of his career and even Aaron Aaron Rodgers has done a great job. Ah Buying time but yet to throw position in the pocket Kirk just does not cannot do that. He is not the type of athletes that these other guys are In any way the accurate thrower that is his accurate thrower. But as soon as things aren't perfect is numbers. Go Way way down and we saw the work that it last night saved when you see a home team like the Minnesota Vikings last night put out a performance the way that they did sometimes onto triggers some some red flags and some alarms and and people would might be validated in thinking that you know coach could be on a hot seat. Is that a it is or is there a feeling of that in Minnesota it was. I know it's crazy thing. That Aku who's had the success that he has Up and down throughout his career there and with a team with ten wins but but man to to really your archrival in the north is the packers and to have them come in to your home field and kind of own. Can you the way that they did. Is there any grumblings about his job security Minnesota. Yes a good question. I think you know any fan base. It seems like half the time you know wants wants to coach fired ride but I will say that their defense is supposed to be their strength. Okay they have. I'm trying to think of. Is it five or four four. I think four players in the secondary that our first round draft picks they have spent a lot of capital They have spent a lot the financial resources David Roach trae Wayne Mike Hughes and Hairston Smith all first round draft pick. The secondary is the weakness of their defense. So that's an issue and that's my Zimmer's specialty right so you know if you're looking at this thing going you know. What are we good at? What are we bad at while? We're currently bad at something. Which is the head coach of specialty and that has to be concerned? It's like Chicago. The they gotta have concerns about Nagy because his specialty is supposed to be quarterbacks and offense offense and whatever and they're one of the worst league in offense and with their quarterback so I think if anything that's the issue in Minnesota is that Mike Zimmer specialty casualty is currently the forty niners weakness. Sage rosenfels joining us on the rich Eisen show. Let me every step back for a moment and evolved puts you in in a man cave tomorrow and you can pick any. NFL quarterback to watch manage a game in today's NFL. which doesn't that that was well? Yeah I mean the guy can put the team on his back when they're down he's the Best D. thrower the NFL. I think he's always one or two as far as throw accuracy he can win. The office of line breaks down. He can make things happen He has this sort of winning vibe vibe about him where I think everyone on that team things you know. We Got Russell Wilson. We have in no matter who they play against. We have Russell Wilson a week and win the football football game If if it was me. And he's still also you know in his prime He doesn't get hurt keys. The guy that I would want For NFL season. He's the guy that I think right. Now that I would want my teams down by fourteen points in the fourth quarter. I'd pick Russell Welcome. Does that make the does that. Put them in the hunt for a super bowl spot. Do you have a favorite in the NFC as it stacks. I think a lot of people feel Baltimore in Kansas City in New England separated themselves in the AFC who were the two NFC teams. You think are most likely to play for a spot in the super bowl. Well it's interesting. You know last night I if you look at the saints the Vikings packers the forty niners the seahawks and then probably the eagles. It looks like maybe the cowboys are probably the eagles the NFC swell the NFC is terrible. I don't see those guys. Maybe they win their first round game because they're going to have a home game but I don't see them doing anything past that I think the forty niners the seahawks the the packers and the saints those four teams legitimately any one of them could win this. NFC title I don't th- after last night. I don't see the Vikings in that group. I think they are definitely steph down. I don't know how they could go on the road win. Three games with Kirk cousins as their quarterback with a secondary The way they are so The packers have won four in a row. No one in the NFC has wine You know more than three games throughout the packers have won four in a row in the way that defense played last night and the way no Aaron Rodgers usually stays away from turnovers. No he he threw was he only had thrown two interceptions before last night's game name and I love the fact they actually have run game in Green Bay You know they're gonNA have I look at least one home game..

"Breakdown thanks to sage rosenfels joining us a few minutes ago giving us great insight on daniel jones what he's seen from him what he hopes for cam newton coming off this ankle injury but fuck a couple of quarterbacks who played a little bit last night that we're waiting to see when we're gonna start as well to become pretty big stories. <hes> the first one is josh rosen. Brian flora's says after the game last night more days he says after the game last night the josh rosen making it a little more difficult from to make this decision whether it's it's going to start ryan fitzpatrick or josh rosen. I look at this the same way. I see daniel jones in the giants. Eli will start daniel. Jones will take over ryan fitzpatrick will start to give josh rosen more of a chance to get used to a new system. Tim start the season and then when ryan fitzpatrick turns back into ryan fitzpatrick. Here's four picks three picks a two week span. It's okay now. It's time for josh rosen and come in and take over that day could come sooner but i still see fitzpatrick going into rosen a little bit. I look at this a little differently. <hes> lucky brand flurries trying to establish a culture in the locker room and what what he's doing. He's making josh rosen earn it. Josh rosen was given the job in arizona. He didn't necessarily earn. He was giving it bit by his draft position. He now no longer has their currency because he was traded for next to nothing. It didn't cost much to get him so now you bring him on board. He still may have some of that. Entitlement monday comes along with being a first round pick. If you think about the dolphins how they may be modeling their franchise after the patriots and patriots do it will. Tom brady had to earn his way onto the field. The old and because tom tom brady has earned it. Everyone that comes after him also recognizes the need to earn their keep on their team and so so if they can get a situation where they're looking josh rosen and they view him as a guy that potentially could be their starting quarterback if he earns it it then sends the right message to to everyone in the locker room where he will be elevated because they will respect him for earning the job as opposed to being given the job as he'd done the right thing so far because it seems it's like things are progressing nicely form each week. He looks a little bit better a little bit better a little bit more comfortable yet things so when i think the bigger thing that you have to do with josh rosen and we've heard brian flurries speak <unk> speak on it and talk about it the body language he has to learn how to lead the way did he <hes> exudes confidence <hes> inspires his teammates where he can be gather and when things don't go well maybe shoulders slump or maybe kind of gets in his own. Way and kinda has a pity party. Will it's hard to be the lead the face of the franchise when you don't exude dude that kind of confidence that you have to be able to to have when you're trying to get your team out of a rut they are trying to kind of remake josh rosen and really really make them the prototypical franchise quarterback through his actions not necessarily through his game so rosenhaus to earn it. Daniel jones has to earn it. Dwayne haskins for the redskins may just be dude everybody else. We can't move the flip here. Just take the job. I mean washington's offense has looked abysmal this preseason yeah they win last night nineteen seven but case keenum's aspin average at best and it's almost like well. What do we think case keenum was like we we we we knew case keenum like eight average at being on wanna own a great day. He's averaged and so what we have is. We have a case where we overvalued case keenum based on the case keenum that we saw working working under pat shurmur in minnesota when he had arguably what i think are the two best receivers as in terms of a tandem adam phelan stefan digs he the add a tight end a cow rudolph. He had a great play call who really set him up success so he looked like a different player when else case keenum plate like that never so he he is what he is and what the washington redskins have to make a decision on. Do we want to go with a guy who we know on his great day is average or do you want to put the young guy out there. The only thing that i will say that troubles me about the washington redskins where we look at the giants and daniel jones. I see an office desk taylor mate for him them to have success when the washington redskins is like jay gruden. I said hey man. I'm running my offense and wayne haskins. You got to catch up and do it. So you see eighties longer throws. You see these things which is why he doesn't have a great completion percentage because these are higher risk throws. He doesn't have any layups incorporated into the so. It just doesn't look like jay. Gruden wants to play the young guy. He wants to play the otago so we can do all the things that he's always been able to eat is not going to have a choice because look no one one has an illusion of how good this washington team is going to be and many times players need. Hey you can throw them in not a sink or swim situation but in a you know what you're going to fake it till you make it and if you don't have a great choice there as as you're older leadership fake it till you make it sounds that's a pretty good alternative and haskins guy. Who's who's always wanted. Those challenges plays with chip on his shoulder. That's the guy i don't mind throwing in and saying okay. Look you know fake it till you make it so. Here's what you have. You have two competing agendas. You have the front office who views haskins as a long term solution position. They wanted to develop him. They want him to patiently. Wait to be able to be the franchise. Ask quarterback you have jay grew to win right now to retain his job and so how do you manage those two things. How can i win gains with a young quarterback who doesn't have the runaround factor so he has to be able to beat opponents from the pocket in a simplistic game plan if we play them that is hard that is why you see the reluctance of the washington redskins to handle dwayne haskins because jay gruden realizes the chances of me retaining my job become even even harder when i have a young guy plan to position right but it's not like he's gonna win a lot of games with case keenum if you had ryan fitzpatrick there. Hey you know what fitzpatrick in sling it. He can win you a few games. We've we've seen him do it with many different teams over the correct but he doesn't have that now doesn't that somebody's gonna win games now he doesn't but he he's trying to make due because his comfort comfort may be in having the full playbook available to him so look. I got a veteran player. I got the fool playbook. Maybe i can scheme up enough plays case keenum to win games. That is his only option otherwise it has to be scaled down. Menu with wayne has considered the pace. What's the odds we see. Let me josh rosen what we do. We see him start <hes>. I think josh rosen was start but we three we three. What about haskins has things. I think it'd be late in the year. I really think it'd be week six or seven. They're really gonna try and ride rounded out with case keenum. That's all that's a long time to go. One in five say where is it. I mean washington is that they're not going to be there. They're not going to be okay with it. Yeah another a couple of weeks. Ask another couple of weeks not to mix. They won't be in the mix. If they start with case keenum they may get kissed lightning in about four weeks to but not legitimately not enough were long long sustained period fox sports radio the dan patrick show jason smith bucky brooks in for dan and the danettes twitter at how about a fresca bucky at bucky brooks coming up next new news. That may be an inkling as to win. Andrew luck is actually gonna play again. That's next on fox. "And i also think that daniel jones was coach extremely well in college and that's something people don't talk about already has four years basically professional teaching before he even was drafted and and a lot of players don't know they're running more option type stuff a lot. Don't read sites type stuff tons of r._p._o. Things more college spread offense then they you get the n._f._l. Is a totally different games when you have peyton manning and eli manning going back to work with that duke head coach in the off season to work on their game imagine spending four years with that guy cutlass at duke i i think that's a big big advantage for daniel jones and i promise you the new york giants and pat shurmur nudist when they draft grabbed him that he will not be a project like i say dwayne haskins i think is much more of a project. Daniel joan does not he will be ready to play sooner than later. Essays aged lastly <hes> the big injury last night cam newton things look okay now. He gets sacked in the second quarter. He leaves the game in a walking boot but x-rays were negative obviously this this is probably the last we'll see of him on a practice field at least until week one a lot of concern for cam newton or was it. Just a disaster was averted. I'm starting to think cam cam newton. He starts reminds. You ben rothlisberger a little bit. You know a guy who can extend a big. I ride with a big arm can extend place you know a lot of fun to watch the team a chance when every week but seems to leave like half the games and some sort of walking boot or something <hes> and there was a little bit of drama around him so. I hope it's not a big deal again this. This is why you're the preseason stinks. There's nothing worse than going into your regular season short handed because of you know some first quarter preseason action which really then the date doesn't mean anything you can follow me on twitter at sage rosenfels eighteen sage rosenfels eighteen twelve years in the n._f._l. Check them out at the athletic minnesota. That's on twitter at the athletic m. i. n. Say always appreciate your time. That's my friend have a great friday. I think i think a bunch sage now. We'll get to daniel johnson two seconds and you want to weigh in on that right but this was a really scary moment 'cause the first report we got last night cam newton leaving the field walking boot and you think the first thing is look cam. Newton is still one of the biggest stars in the the n._f._l. In my goodness without cam newton you're you're talking about. This could be the worst team in the n._f._l. So they really dodged a bullet as far as his injury yet. It did dodge a bullet because they need him. He's got it. Kinda makes that offense going. I know christian mccaffrey has been <hes> a big piece a big part of their puzzle but without cam newton this offense can reach their potential and so the other found a way to make sure they keep him healthy and upright in available and some of that may require a no more no more exposure in preseason games. It may also require. Hey let's take away some of the quarterback run game and allow him to function a little more like a traditional quarterback. The main thing is the bottom line is they have to have cam newton for them to to count continue to hold these postseason aspiration and hopes that have done a carolina. They'll sit at some point to realize oh. Maybe getting a good backup quarterback who can come in and play. You're not worried about boys will greer any good. I mean it's never really address the the backup quarterback spot there now with a legitimate player legitimate guy that can come in and compete and really push him then missile push him to start but just push him <hes> because when cam looks over showed he sees someone that can maybe eventually replace some kinda like tom. Brady ca squint and see that maybe jimmy garoppolo garoppolo would be in line to be a starting quarterback and so just something to get them going but i think he has two years left on his deal. It is really important in in in this year coming up yes to show people that he can be the franchise quarterback going forward because if not if you're a carolina panthers in san cam goes off to another injury you then have to wonder from a durability lee standpoint. Is he ever going to be that. We saw him become in twenty fifteen when he was the m._v._p. Or do do they need to be in the business of looking for a young on quarterback to groom and eventually replace cam newton jason smith bucky brooks in for dan and the danettes here today on fox sports radio daniel jones another big game last night. You know played played a little bit against some of the ones which was nice. Everybody wants to anoint him and tournament of the giants starting quarterback right away but no matter what happens this preseason. I can't see the giants differing from this plan for when he winds up playing ally manning's going to be the quarterback until he's no longer the quarterback meaning he's gonna start and then as he struggles to move the team and they can't score points ally loses the job daniel jones takes it and it's his job forever ever kind of like how how eli took it the first time around with kurt warner kurt warner was signed as the bridge quarterback. They could move that he couldn't move the team fumbled a lot. They went to ally eli manning and it was allies job. I can't see the giants differing from that just because of the way they have dealt with eli manning the last couple years because last year was he lies great. He's guy. We're taking saquon barkley. We're ready and then it was okay. We need a quarterback now because he lies almost done so. Let's go get daniel jones. I mean the way they're going to handle it. I can't see them saying. We're starting daniel jones right away and it's gonna come off the bench because if it's too big for daniel jones in the beginning going back to ally is going to be messy i kind of see it as a job and then be daniel jumps. We've heard voted. The is legacy. He's a legend <hes> for the new franchise. We are gonna talk about. They believe that allies still has some years. There's left and they had a perfect scenario would be a situation where dana joe's didn't have to play this season. We heard dave gettleman talk about the pat. Mahomes plan where alex smith played the entire etta eta probo level and then gave way pat mahomes <hes> the new york giants can potentially have the best of both worlds if eli manning returns and he plays well will it does allow dana jones several sideline comfortably learned the game game will slow down even that much more when he has opportunity. We'll see how they attempt to do do it but i believe that man is going to be the starter and he will have to play his way out of the starting job for dana jones. You get a chance. Where do you put the preseason for. Daniel jones as far as accomplishing. I think it's been great i mean i think you arguably could say that. He's been the best i'm no. There's no argument he's been the best rookie quarterback when we talk about these these games in these preseason exhibition games and how they're playing against backups will if they're planning his backups i want to see him dominate against tobacco which he's been able to do when they play the starters i wanna make sure that it doesn't look too big for him and so when we look at his performance compared to the other rookies he's been hit and shoulders above those guys and so i think you have to give him credit ready for what he's been able to accomplish doesn't mean you go jacket it. Just means looked into jones has been pretty solid player. Maybe the jazz were onto something when they took win number six overall. That's the funny funny thing is that since last year's draft where they decided on saquon barkley allowing sam darnold to go to the jets they had to spend all last year on defense. Even though saquon barkley was good it was hey no no no allies. Are we like saquon barkley a once in a generational talent and these guys go into the hall of fame and they had to be right about daniel jones because because they're fighting for the back page relevancy with two teams in town and for the next ten years they could look at having to defend yes this is we. We knew what we were doing. We we allowed sam darnold to go across down and that's the worst thing if the giants had passed on sam darnold darnold went to the bills or darling gone to the cardinals okay that at that but you allow the jets and these two teams fight for everything in new york i mean this is if they're not right about daniel jones. I mean that's it again everything. This is all their legacy. This is their jobs on the line but i can't say today you were wrong in what they did. Last year saquon borrow it has saquon. Barkley has been a generational talent saquon. Barkley is one of only three plays in n._f._l. History over two thousand scrimmage yards as a rookie and so. I don't think they're wrong. So now what you have to do is let's look at these drafts and back to back so now if you hit on your running back and saquon barkley it gives you an opportunity acoss control to have one of the best players at a manageable number and if you come back and hit again on daniel jones like it may look like they have they been able to lock up basically two thirds of the triplets that you need to win the game and we can talk about the jets and and sam darnold but i don't know if we can legitimately say that we know exactly what sam donald is based on high played last year yes. He finished a year with at the bank three. Does last regains were pretty strong but for the most part he was up and down. It wasn't like he played like baker mayfield where we could see the difference in their offense. Yeah we will see but i think we've been a little quick to crown in annoy sam donald as a sure. Thing is a franchise quarterback as opposed to doing. It and i know that pains you know that we we haven't been let we're going thirty three this year and two or three super bowls before he's done is fine. I mean it's fun. We ready. We ready to give the jacket. We're ready to say that he's the best we saw. I saw the preseason game last week against the falcons and i turned on twitter and i was like oh my god what am i gonna do. Did he go twenty twenty three he. There's five or seven for like forty yards and i get it but look this is what happens <hes> not only in the real world. It happens in the scouting world when you you hit your wagon to a prospect you go all the way in and it's hard for people to come off that position because so many <hes> evaluators were all in on sam donal after the the rose bowl game two years ago that they can't get off that opinion just like they're going to be people who are still waiting to see the other shoe dropped for danny your jones because they were so staunchly against him being a top pick a first round pick better yet a top ten pick. Is this kind of part of the narrative that goes along with it but we'll see if your guy plays up to the hype that goes along with. I mean i i'm not. I'm not worried at all back. I mean you're looking at me. I'm not worried at all but when you stink for that long and you make the best draft pick i mean seriously this is the best draft pick. The jets made in fifty years when they had a quarterback chas. Since okay pennington was great arm fell off. We had him for four years and then pennington's arm fell off. That's two thousand and six buck. That's two thousand six. That's thirteen years ago buck. Oh my god years years fifty. Tell me about tell me better than you get a guy like that who can be a franchise quarterback for a dozen years and potentially one of the top and quarterbacks actually n._f._l. Draft at the jets had fifty years fifty years. It either means that they have in drafted will now. They just clinging yes. They know. All of those things are true. I'm not saying i'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying the reality. Is that sam's best fifty year. I can't believe you like him. Over richer tied.

"I have a warning for everybody. But I, you know, one of the best things about hosting a show and having a microphone so that managed to get the last the last word, and every argument, many of you, many of you are are still fired up about my my my thought that they should limit access at NBA games. I just wanna get one more thing in that that answers what several of you are tweeting at this point as people say fans pay to be part of the action. The they sell those tickets blob Oba people buy tickets to games to watch athletes. Aren't they don't go by? They don't buy tickets to watch little kids on the sideline they go. They go to watch the athletes. So what's more important to serve the athletes that are on the court or to serve the two rows that we'd be impacting by changing the seating. Because by impacting to Rosa fans. What is that a couple of hundred fans? I don't math as maestro. Maybe a couple of hundred. There's still eighteen thousand other people in a lot of those arenas and millions of people watching at home and. Those millions of people don't care about little Johnny the wants to give Russell Westbrook or coke. They care about watching. Russell Westbrook play the game. So if the worst case scenario protects the athlete, and it it makes life more difficult for the first two Rosa fans. I'm oh good with that. I'm all good with that all day long. It's paint and Fitz on ESPN radio Jason Fitch with you love getting the last God, you guys would probably tweet me from courtside you savages. I didn't know we had so many rich fans. God most importantly, like invite me. I mean before they take away the first two rows of seats, at least invite me. So I could be your plus one. I wouldn't on that action. So the combine speaking of the action that is out there all over the world. I want in on it because I love the combine. I love the draft. That means I love the combine. In fact, a little secret just for you guys on Saturday. We're hosting at Twitter digital show the world will see my combine drills. I did Himmel. I ran the forty did the three cone drill which actually has four cones some shuffle. Put up a put up some weights to some some verticals standing jump. Not impressive. My numbers not impressive that that will surprise nobody. But it's it's happening because the combines here in the combines here at a different level than we've ever seen before ABC is going to show quarterbacks wide receivers and tight ends on Saturday afternoon. Our guy Trey wingo going to be hosting the coverage from there from indie starting at one o'clock from one to three and also I'll be on Twitter digitally with Daniel Dopp and Andrew Hawkins will be doing a appre game show on Twitter that you can catch on the ESPN Twitter account starting at noon. On Saturday for the combine this is because everybody's enamored particularly with the quarterbacks will Cuyler Murray. Throw who's gonna be better twain Hoskins how big is we learn from sage Rosenfels, by the way, if you missed the interview with sage go check it out on the podcast, check out the entire thing. Because he opened my eyes that it's not about the hand. It's not about the height of Kyla Amaury. He's most curious about the hand size. Hand size is going to be an issue for Kyla Murray as a tiny handed man, I can appreciate that. It's when we're all going to be paying attention to. And that's what you should be paying attention to what you shouldn't pay attention to at all is whatever your GM says whatever somebody said your team's gonna do whoever you suddenly think your team's gonna draft. Would you want right now? More than ever is for your favorite team to make it through the next five days invisible. Nobody talking about your favorite team perfect. No big hot takes from your favorite team. Even better. Whatever you do here right now..

I was that's like that is an all time dad flex when you know, your dad's like, oh, man. I'm the best of changing the channel, right? When the commercials, I literally was a little things in life. That was spooky people would get creeped out. And they wouldn't watch games with me because I was so good and not because all over my house talking is a tiny screen. You're so good at it. I was like man, you gotta get PFC over. It ruins the channel changer exactly should make a movie off of that. All right. So let's do week fourteen preview. Actually, a pretty nice week. There's a pretty it's a pretty nice week. There's some games that I'm very very interested in and I'm not just talking about the jets bills and Josh Allen getting his fifth win. No, he's he didn't start a couple of wins. But Josh Allen. Yeah. We're going to give him credit. He's electric. All right. Let's start with loser. Leaves town match up. I have one that's for sure. And then I have a backup does. Okay. My loser. Leaves town match up is going to be. She. Philadelphia dallas. And I think we've had this as loser leaves town match up like three weeks. Well, this really played three times. This year is truly is unless the eagles win. Then then the Cowboys can beetle as their next week. But this is the week that if the Cowboys beat the eagles, they have basically one the NFC, and it will be very hard for them to lose it. I I mean, I can't believe this Cowboys team. Like, I can't believe we've not only gone from Jason Garrett almost getting fired to the Cowboys winning these. But Jason Garrett almost getting fired two people are actually talking about the cat. Like don't look out for the Cowboys. They could be good. They could make a run to the Super Bowl people are actually saying this now if there's anything I know about the Cowboys, they'll find a way to fuck it, all they will they'll find a, and it'll be hilarious. Oh, and I will very much new antastic so my backup. Loser leaves town was cults Texans. And that's more for the colts. Because that six and six logjam at AFC wildcard big constipation. It's going to be interesting to see if one team the. Ravens already your seven five. So they're the succeed right now. So if the colts lose, I think they're out. Yeah. And God damn please call twin? I I used to love watching this game back in the day because the Texans would always be so snake bit because colts your that players. Sage Rosenfels did like the the to the double spin around and fumbled the ball through the end zone. Yes. It was always like Peyton Manning verse fill in the blank mad libs for the Texans. Usually I named Matt last name was something like Scherzer's a yeah. It's something with a show match up still in the league. Yeah. He's still in league very much very much. The falcons, I think don't ruin it for me is not his do not ruin I'm gonna keep saying that for like I mean, then if you wanna talk about Monday, there's another loser leaves town match up there..
