Also i think he kind of and i don't blame him i you know. His thing doesn't get muddied by these other brands. It has a very tight box. he's created i want. I am glad. I didn't know with it is it's pretty. It's a pretty nice trilogy. And i know so it's cool. You have a way with casting and cavill Affleck gal all down the line. Which of them was the biggest fight for you. Which of them was the one who really had to go to bat. For in the andy. Think any of your justice league. It was a discussion on everybody. You know. pretty pretty big discussion on everybody. I think gall was probably the most And not that not. That people didn't see it eventually but i think i it was a bit of a i. I think that they just didn't understand but their version of wonder woman was like linda. Carter right and all american. Yeah yeah i mean like i. I had a meeting that. I wanna european wonder woman and they were like why why and i was like well. Because she grew up in era which is not like she wouldn't have an american accent doesn't make any sense right. Nikki should snuff oklahoma. she's from frigate stems bureau. So we're two quite different place as slightly ancient greece than it is to You know kansas or whatever. Yeah so that was the. I think that was the big jumping off point. You know once they kind of. And i think we umbrella resort also again. They were like he's blonde. Was that thing of like. Everyone had a picture in their head. And i and i think that. Thanks to watchmen and dark night. You know and being a bit of a congressman and this and being able to deconstruct a bit. I was able to kind of transcend like the pictures to some extent. Another apple is right on the nose you know. Will you see him in the seat. It's kind of like yeah. Okay is directly on the nose as well. Like athletic is an incredible. Bruce wayne can't if you haven't been to do it did you have a plan b. I mean i know like a number here. Bruin was in the mix which would have been cool. I honest could assume that matisse sean hearts he was i taught was talking to him a lot about. Oh that's fascinating. Did he ever get in the suit. He never got suit. But i did do a bunch of mockups them because ben was on the tents right now. Everyone should be on the fence. When you're at play batman yeah a lotta conga. Lot of them as you. Well know as he knows well by now. Yeah yeah Did you ever read. Ben script for his solo batman. Yes cool very cool yeah. Manganiello is now. Also magnolia has a whole like as his whole origin script. This kind of low budget ready cool. I was going to be cool too so We covered a lot of justice league recently. So i won't go over too much but i did. I'm curious you showed off at screening. I think recently. An image from that green lantern scene. Yeah for lantern shoot did so is there. Any way was great in the little seen it. Show that at like a at some point. Are you ever going to be able to show that. I don't think so. Because i don't have the i don't have to bend so i mean have been side but then what happened was when we shot rain side. It was like obvious to me that we were going to have to redo bend side again. Because wayne was really good not was better but then was just acting neta tennis ball surely know and you know we were like either green light shining on. He was like look. What were you not and benz good. Don't get me wrong. it's not a bad a bad seed but which is a different thing. Yes the benefit of knowing everything that was happening. I showed him seen. He knew what he knew. He was confidence. And like you know and also now that we've like the scale of dark side and everything what we re. We know what it is you know. At that point. He picture arts bent. Hadn't he didn't even know what you know. He's a dark side. I guess what he's a big dude and scary. You know so i think. Now in hindsight and bahrain. I was able when we did the marsh landlords dude. I had so much more information to be bad. You know and. I also like the water. That's gone ben. Even though like he's much more in that seem men honor that we shy. he's much more. It was cathartic you know you could feel it. You know. I can see you could see him. You know even when your parents would be proud you know. And he's just like. I hope so really this kind of non superhero reaction which i like did you. How are they rich in. I don't know. I mean maybe you know i got that one shot at some point. There's one shot of wayne where he goes. My name's john. Stewart green lantern was pretty pretty coldest aids. Push in it. But you know it's kind of tampa facts but it'd be worth seeing probably as totally totally. We talk a little bit last time about the the death of robin which people i know. Are you know just one of many things people would want to see. Yeah acted on screen one day. Did you have an actor in mind or did you and did you have specifics of the sequence like how how robin went down under how joker took him out. You know i didn't. I don't have one and we talked about that. You know we were gonna do the comic book I don't know if he did. Yeah alec book. And i thought about it a bunch but i hadn't really done them beat by be like what was the drama was the fight. You know i liked you know. Let's just say robin got some lakes in want to go down without a fight all god. Yeah could you imagine you know. Obviously army you A bit more of a running gun approach than than than the scale the kind of be the grandeur of justice league. Could you imagine that kind of stat. Approach to a kind of comic book A certain comic book character or character or story would lend itself to a superhero story. It sir i mean it certainly could i mean. I think that it's very much like any mission movie. I mean has a good. It's a good feel army is a great deal for any kind of mission movie. I really like this sort of dirty dozen. Feel out that you can get from it all kind of like it's pretty gritty but it's also it's kind of more artful. I don't mean to be rude in its approach. But it's just like you know very specific in you know because on the dp and kind of kim camera operator you get much more. It has a personality. Which i which i which i like So yeah it's it's it certainly. Could i always talk about electrolux's lives again to as a comic that you could make. I'm looking at mccormick woods. Yeah that's always you know because it's such a good looking comedy hard-boiled to we talked about.

And of course, if you don't know what army of the dead bodies from directors that Snyder you know, he gave his Justice League and Superman movies. But the only problem is the Army of the undead Zombies I've taken over Las Vegas and the U. S military has quarantined off Vegas. They're going to nuke my course city, So we have 24 hours to get in there, Get the money and get out. So I've seen it. It's fantastic. This is my type of movie. "My friend. It is snyder's knob. Sorry not just. I teased everybody there. But zack ciders. Army of the dead is coming up this weekend on net flicks. I got a chance to watch the first fifteen minutes of it out on youtube and so far so good within. I know the reviews are okay but basically this is zack. Stars return to the zombie universe. His time spent in the dc universe which he may never go back to. but that's another story in itself. But zack snyder is mac. With the army of the dead starring date by teesta and a lot of other great cast members as well which name off here in a little bit but your thoughts on watching this movie eat is a spiritual successor to his dawn of the dead movie that he made in the early two thousands but it's not a direct sequel and it's still something a little bit different. It's like a heist film. Based in las vegas where they want to go ahead and steal. I think it's two hundred million dollars if i'm not mistaken out of a fault. One of the casinos in las vegas. Which where i'm at. But las vegas happens to be a controlled area where it's all walled off. Because of some zombies in fact the whole city is now infested islamise impact. The whole city is operatives. So i should be be right now because i'm in vegas but be that as it. May your thoughts my friend on watching army the debt this weekend. I know you said you and jamie are going to check it out. But your thoughts. On zack snyder. Returning to this universe. After his time spent with warner brothers ad dc

I used kind of like because i always get this questions from fans like. Is there going to be a this in the movie. I've always like baby. I don't know what it means is right colors it. It's i can't take it too seriously. The cabin with it kind of like. I think you said yes. It's a lot of a lot of it. Also it'd be funny to see now that i'm thinking about it to see that quoted in like some cinema magazine some source. He said If you could be a professional athlete what sport would you play. I probably foof well. Were you jets-giants family. I come from a super athlete family. We play before my son played football. You know all through high school and you know he. He he went to. I'm allowed on the big bad. I mean that would be awesome. I i played at one time. And it's like all the things i love in a sport like fast twitch in touch and and it's super athletic and you gotta move. I play outside. You know people that you played in the garden. I'm like no. We don't like real bad players. They'll play outside really your playing like at a picnic. That's crazy. yeah sorry. I really get mad. Like hazak picnic your they batman. Fuck you really set him off. Yeah that's he was so nice up until then that's what triggered why instead of a tennis tournament in the driveway. Football in the pool Wow okay badminton. I always want. I have a set that. I'm sorry to say this occasionally set up in the yard. Lame during say. I did cover. That's fine. I'll play play play. Yeah it's fine. "I mean in so many ways you mentioned what your family went through and and just being able to imbue some of that experience into it and Just as a way to help. I would imagine process everything that went on incredibly cathartic we really all a lotta healing through this process and i literally the fans have become a lot of the fans have really become. You know you're not supposed to do this. But they're now friends of mine. And i bet and they're really like you know i i do have like and there's a core group of them that like really are amazing and they've raised so much money for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. It's unbelievable and they never tire. And they're and they're just normal jobs and they're like on the phone with me in the middle of the night just trying to figure out the fundraiser. And it's amazing and it's just incredible. And i can't it's i i. I hope you guys like the movie because the pressure you know yeah for sure and now this added personal pressure. You're it's like. Oh i hope my friends like it yeah. I don't even know it was really difficult. I dedicated the movie to my daughter. And really i mean i'll be one hundred percent honest that i was worried that the movie wasn't good enough. You know i was really. It was the thing that really struck me a lot. That has like maybe. This movie isn't good enough for this becca. She was like also are boast She was my most sort of fan. Centric child my other. Kids aren't really the movies. And i just felt like she would have. She would really love it so it worked at or schools them. I mean i've read. What your friends on the internet have said about it and it sounds Like a really beautiful tribute in. "I was delusional. I didn't also think. Like maybe i should be model or or like an astronaut rockies. Those i'm back burners. That'd be a center for the knicks or titan for the eagles happy maybe i should pro athletes do that later. I'll do the movie right. Jump what's i don't. I don't have the youthful energy to direct anymore. I'll go ahead and become a professional athlete completely insane. I do think bill for not you know maybe being one hundred percent realistic with my dream. I'm pretty sure i have. I don't really have any measurable skills other than difficult if this down. I don't know where you know. I think the same thing. Zach you but myself. Yeah thank god. I i Do you ever run out. But i get that if you did it would be fine. I have that same feeling. Zoom debray technician. You say yeah. Yeah maybe the sound guy. I don't know yeah. You do that job because sound guys are amazing. Oh no no yes. I couldn't run into. Have you run into that director. Since since then your friend's father. I have not i have man i mean. I don't know that he. I don't know that he knows that that it's going okay. Oh it'd be funny. If he was still like that eric he's still thinks he can do it. Here's you on some interview sky. Yeah okay direct. Ten little hits and you think you could be a director. I don't know i don't know the truth. Is that like. I've always been you know in in in my career you know i've always been of the mindset that i don't know i just i really i value everyone's opinion so that you know sometimes it's a detriment as actor. Oh man yeah but sometimes you know i always just my knee-jerk is that. I assume that everyone kind of has a better idea about what's happening than i do. So i always have to kind of like i. I try not to assume that except for and you know it's the thing i've talked about like the only thing as a movie director the most important skill set you have is like your point of view like what the premise of making a movie. That you guys have agreed in a way to sort of hear. Hear it from my point of view. Yeah yeah and i. And i would never argue or ever say like what i'm saying is right necessarily. It's not they got. It's not That that's not the game playing like that's not some measure. The measure is like correct right. Correct seen is right right. It's a comedy is exactly the same way. there's no like it's like all the pieces are play constantly. You just kind of how they fall is all the right way. They have to fall in way. Totally and the same actor can do the same scene. Almost identical to another like steve martin and some not as comedic actor could do the same sort of thing and it would be. You wouldn't even be able to explain why one works in one dozen. It's just it's just through that lens through that mouth that cadence For whatever reason it's become special instead of just like a and maybe it was like. Yeah was it a subtle. Rays of the eyebrow was rights. I don't know but that's hilarious right. I know i know what that must be..

Him watchman for the first time i got out of the arc light and the way you use music that that's great Times they are chain that yeah fuck was powerful in the slow motion stuff in the shots. There was something so stirring about that I'll never forget that was the first that was my couldn't believe it's the same guy. 'cause it was different it felt different stylistically than donna. The debt it didn't feel dead fifty more frenetic. And i had a little bit to do with the fact. That dog was like a low. It's low budget movie right. I was sort of you know it was it was a it was a labor of love and we and at that time i was drawing all the shots. I just wasn't showing my book to anybody's i haven't dawn of the dead. You know because. I draw my own story boards right. Oh so. I was drying dawn. But like i would you know. I didn't know that that was a way to do it. You know say hey everyone look. I drew the yeah. It'd be like why are you showing me that. Yeah like are you serious But then by the time. I got because then i'd done three hundred and really drawn everything. And then when i got to watch men i really. I had a sort of assistance. Where i would draw animated storyboards ever at that point i add not really i mean i just. It was more of like the big leather bound books. That just have. Oh drawings in their house. And i think that. So the design. Part of it of watchmen was much more deliberate. Everything was very like. I was like okay. You know that. Easter egg this thing you know like it was all very meaning like there was nothing by accident. There is a bit of add-on but we were just on a budget. Loudon gun yeah. I'm picturing nettie i. I've worked with them on a comedy once. And he was like he com. He'd say things sometimes that you guys finally did something funny. It'd be like you know he's try but whenever we make him laugh we were like oh like even get a smile from that was funny then that guy..

"Easter eggs in there and then army came along because after i finished on. I just had this idea. Because i've been immersed in genre that i said to myself like what would be the most genres genre freakout of came up with this idea for like it's it's a zombie. Plague that hits vegas and they wall the city so that the zombies are stuck inside and they have and then the government has decided to nuke the site of to radical zombies. And there's a small window before they're going to nuke the city but where they pulled pretty much. Everyone back were a team of like sort of zombie. Killers could go and take the money from the does. It's like a full that is so it's like a heist movie meets. It's got a lot of escape from new york and yeah you know. It's very much like i love those kind of hardcore genre totally you know with weird little dark comedy moments like i'm thinking i got to work with gregg nicotera recently and we were both nearly out over the thing we did together. It was creepshow episode and it has to do with the original neither living dad. And we've recreated the set for you would've loved it. it was. Yeah it was like movie nerd stream but We were just geeking out over those old genre movies. And of course he worked on so many of them. And i love that shit and your stuff feels like it comes from somebody who loves that and has a real reverence for that stuff. I absolutely do. I love you know and even like you know. There's a lot of like Original terminator aliens. Those were all of that. We were were you a superhero kid. Were you more like it's weird. I mean i love star wars. And then i kind of you know. I really got like look. I love like john. Boorman's one of my favorite. I love caliber. But then also i love solace sites even as a kid i would go see like i remember like my parents have to drop me off. You know to go see like thrown a blood or something you know how they just had no interest in going through the japanese movie. The samurai movie subtitled. I was like eighth grade. You know where did that come from. Do you think. I just like sell into it. And just super weird. Yeah they were just convinced. My dad was pretty sure that this all end in tears. And i had no. Let's the plant practical. Is you know he is. He worked at the american. can company. In greenwich oh. Wow and so then. He and then moved over to becton dickinson. Serious business guy. He's a he's an hr guy and he's very so he would just go like so what are we doing T. scores concern. Aw are cool fun hobby. But it's a great hobby. I see what you're doing with your friends well and it was a little. It was a little bit of like a little bit of rushmore around our place. I remember in high school. The big one of the big films i made was like it was kind of like a remake of apocalypse now but like set in my boarding school..

"Yeah and that said about halfway through the movie. Let's i just do what you want now. They can't fire you. You should have by point is only studio asked me about like where all those slicks super slick shots from no. Yeah yeah well this. Maybe this kind of feels more like this. You know what we're doing. It's a little more genre. That was so that the visual style matched the sort of contact. You like okay. Well we'll wait and see does for some more dubs and some more kind of slow motion laundry somehow. I don't what what was the thing. What were the commercial. So those commercials had a c. Slickness like a kind of glazed. I had done like you know. Listen i had done every kind of commercial a lot of super bowl spots. I was you know a lot of car. Commercials the end of my commercial career. I i. i was really a almost a car. Guy exclusively and just shooting sheet metal in the desert you know. Why were you at that point but but sounds like you liked that kind of you like making things. You're into the style the aesthetic. Or were you like just yearning to tell stories intel. Always you know it's funny because in the commercial world and the yes. I did a tons of commercials in europe. They were always be these weird little cool little story movie and there's always super fun and I love doing that. And then you know back in the states. You know you'd get the odd super bowl spot. That had this kind of cool. You know little zinger kind of cool. I did a lot of the budweiser clydesdales spots. Yes and stuff like that and Are but but in the end. Yeah it was really interested in like what what what story. So i was constantly kind of going to the studios and do like. I started quite a while into my commercial pretty early into my commercial career. I got an agent and then we would go on a lot of generals and over the studios I would say like you know you. Pitcher stuff is like. Let me make you guys a cool movie you. I didn't know what i was talking about but You like zombies. I i'd gotten swat swat. Yes it's supposed to do that. And and then. I fell out with them because they wanted to make a pg thirteen. And as i got around to do that yeah tougher. Yeah we'll dawn of the dead. Was certainly i mean if if that was your calling card at the time it was Certainly not pg thirteen. I mean was something. We had three hundred as well. So we had three hundred that i've been taking around and everyone said no to And then i was about to make swat and they quit the movie and then dawn of the dead just kind of popped up and i said yes. I'll do it ourselves was it. Were you a huge fan of those meatloaf romero's movies. Yeah huge huge romero. I try and you know as best. I could with that movie. I really tried to be as reverent as i could to the source material like there's a lot of easter eggs there in that movie you know romero..

Remote is a four on everyone's face but it's so often cuts out constantly. Part of it is our fault because we don't have cable. Yeah i know rely on the internet which we like not good. We joke about it. Whenever it goes out christian been watching this. Show kings kings of pain. Which is these two guys. It's on national geographic channel as rechannel history channel. Sorry two guys. One of whom is named caveman Sounds like bill. Paxton norbert leo butz hopefully future guest and they bat make venomous insects and snakes and stuff bite them and they rate the pain. I can't believe it's a show. I watch it. It's our to turn away anyway. We were watching like it all right before you know. They're getting ready to give the scorpions about to stay there. And it's like oh my god man to it and it's like the climate climatic it'll just be like cut cut out over like freeze or and it happens so often that we just laugh as part of the experience of watching tv. Now isn't that crazy that like it's gotten to the point where like well we just have to accept that shows just gonna say we could remedy it just by getting cable. I know but i know anyway. Why are we talking about is a pain people getting well. We were talking about superman and like watching things like that. On streaming services maybe. Hbo max because our guest today is one of the great superhero epic directors. He's one of our biggest directors period for you. Now i know in fact. He's got two movies coming out. We'll talk about our guest today. Is zack snyder zaka. Somebody that's been on my radar. Ever since i saw dawn of the dead dawn of the dead with sarah polly. I love that movie. Do you ever see that. You've never seen that version with them. Hoping rams are fucking grade anyway tie burrell's and he still going but anyway zack has gone onto become. Yeah like we said a huge superhero director and he has now directed the ultimate in the dcu. The pantheon yeah it's Justice league which is out now on. Hbo max it's say four hour epic and his cut. Its we talked about how that happened..

"Yeah i don't. I don't one hundred percent know if i think some people might say that. Like zack snyder doesn't understand these characters. But there's a part of me that things like other pretty easy to grasp like children can appreciate these comic books. I'm fairly certain zack snyder. Just doesn't really give a shit and like rashawn. Said this is how he plays with his action figure. Yeah i do to talk about things. We like anything wonder woman related. I'm i'm all about. I wish there was a movie. Just on the scare. I i think across the three or four movies that she's been in they just nail that aesthetic love everything about cinematic -ly i love everything about wonder woman and i think gowda does. This is just great There's parts of the movie where i feel like she doesn't fit. She's so you know. We spent the i wonder woman movie talking about how good she is. How pure and ernest. Yeah she's she's virtue you know and this movie kind of devolves into like a punch them up you know. Just beat them. Yeah it felt. It felt a little cheesy like when she's which she's trying to help cal l when he first comes back and it was. You could tell her sweetness naievety in her earnestness to try to connect but for some reason it just. The cheese factor came over so heavy there because it just didn't quite fit totally which also for me is part of the problem with some of the comic relief with berry. I felt like i felt like wonder woman and buried to me a little bit. Like they were trying to inject some levity or maybe trying to inject some of that earnestness. That were sean was tough. But for some reason it didn't fit with like the brutishness of bruce wayne. And the i guess the brutishness of aquaman and the grumpiness in surliness of bruce wayne like it. Just for some reason it felt kind of inconsistent in that kind of threw me out and just to kind of throw it back to you. Wish on just so. I can a sinophile that attacks whenever free and woman whenever wonder woman showed up and they played that amazon music. I laughed because i thought it was real it to me and whenever she did anything like she did like a flip i was like. Oh my god. I literally i was. Actually i was walking around. I had my laptop setup on. I'm sitting in his farmhouse right and i'm watching the kitchen is i'm cooking dinner and i turned my back for second and i heard the music and i turned around and i was like again that kind of like amazon music in..

"Interested in the pick of who survive. Cf cyborg you have the aquaman female era you have slash. Who's like who wouldn't is because you have put come Last point to come back in time because that batman v superman. That's the suit he popped up in. And then you have joker slade yup and man in harley quinn which is cool like dat. She's dead harlequin wasn't a no she was dead does he said because he. Because that's how bad got him was. He said something about harvey e says something about the boy wonder. And then because joker does kill robin. And i think there was a comment about harley. Yeah and that because he said something about harley that that's so much like the video game injustice in the video game lowest. The joker killed lois. Lane and batman or superman came in killed the joker. And that's what like and they became this in when he's dead. He became this totalitarian like evil. God but. I don't think that's the story that zack snyder's telling him what i've heard bruce wayne and his story. Bruce wayne got lois lane. Prego and notice. Ma'am freaking losses. Notice that the end of the movie when they're moving back to marquess. She's supposedly carrying a basket. That looks like a little. And you hear bruce. Say congratulations as to. So when they do then. I i'm assuming but it doesn't make sense because in this one. They really show her morning more than in the other one because in eighties. Maybe it was like a. I don't want to ban on there but or like a like a grieving sex or something but it was a drunken night that they yeah. You know thinking about superman. Superman one thing leads to another by in and in also an injustice jerry really liked was Superman wonder woman and one other person like all decided to be the lords of the were okay. We haven't really talked about the cyborg finally getting into down movie which was valve in heart of the whole film man even his his dad getting more than he got in the other. One we are which I don't know if you know that's the dude who immunity to not let that guy around sort of cyborg robots but that did such a good actor too man. I know and i feel like joss weeden just like they made him weird but they gave him a real part him. Real part and I saw on twitter the the lady that he gives the money to in the movie she posted on twitter. Like i haven't seen it yet. And i make it into the movie because her whole story out and he liked to back. How'd you get away. He decided to do that with like the standing in the desert like looking. I thought that was an interesting choice of how to jump into the into the box. Or no no when he just would like when he was like imagining. Yeah though i heard another podcast. So i can't take credit for say and i thought it was good like he can do all these things he doesn't just immediately like level out everyone's wealth and everyone money like why not like he whatever he wanted to they were like. Why would you give. Why don't you ease them into don't tell a teenager. He has to all the nuclear codes because teenagers get pissed off sometimes not only being able to get all the story leading characters breath and getting their stories but they didn't rush to. Oh we got a broom of may now halfway into the movie. Yeah and it wasn't like a a light decision liquid is like you know we're all thinking but i'm not gonna say it and they you know cyborg has him so and when he comes back they like cut that up you know when he's walking through the ship. Yeah in the voice of russell russell costner talking about these people and the planet earth and everything else. I'm like you. Why did you cut this out of the movie. Like i got chills. When that's half what do you think about all the hate. That draws wade's thinking about this movie like and how much he cut out of it seeing it now. I think it's deserved. Why did you do that. I don't think it's all of his. I don't think it's all his fault. I think the studio stepped in as well saying okay. You get two hours. Here's what snyder shot. And then put some humor to lighten it up a little bit. This is a little dark. I mean does point. He was like okay. He has stripped it down and said here's the basic story like basic story of the boxes and then we'll k. We'll just kind of that And then it didn't work but like other. I was telling talking to great now it. Could you know if you were big. Conspiracy theorist you could say that zack. Snyder's four hour movie was never gonna get seen. But what if we made a really crappy movie and that really crappy was so bad later on could make more money on the same film that we already have footage of later Because i don't like. I was trying to think if i just saw in the theater. I mean we've been four hours. Would i have liked it without if the knowing how bad the original one was the original one being bad. Make this one la better. I was thinking that same thing. Like did i enjoy this more because what we've seen before going. Oh my god that's crap now compared to this or if this would have been the only version we saw would we would we both given it five stars. I i probably would've but that's me Did you see the martian manhunter. Yes yes yes. I gotta help me. Some man's green green lantern ring barely. Snyder wanted the green lantern he did pop in at the end to talk to you one or two man. He wanted john. Stewart screen lantern day at the end instead of martian manhunter. But warner brothers said no yes. They have plans for greener and so unfortunately now. Did you like how. Marshall manner hunter came in basically being you know. I thought it was cool. Aren't the at these been slinging around the earth along. How can we help you help it. Yeah exactly you're not gonna help anything. Do you're like superpower. that's a character. I've always thought was way overpowered. He's like super strong. He could walk through walls. He can shape change. He's basically and read your mind and tell tell lp till tell 'til 'til telepathy and that was like but like he's not as strong as superman or one of them they always like take them down a notch. Yeah he's the guy that's supposed to just stay in the base and communicate everyone four. We wrap up talking to this. I we all it. The the last thing. I want to talk about that. I loved was how the final fight. How they actually came together. As a team worked together to steppenwolf i thought flashes with so good the the setting-up flashpoint now where he basically they lost. Yeah the boxes. United and the way that it happened where he had to run really fast then everybody gets put back together. Yeah just to see can bring back time. Yeah so that's every dc whenever they have a storyline running that sex every now and then. There's getting one sucks they'll be and then suddenly grabble. You're reading it sucks. Jalousie flash popout. I mess up time again..
What we really thought of Zack Snyder's Justice League
"This is your daily charge here to help me geek out over the center. Cut is resident. comic book. Expert has seen it staff. Reporter sean kane. Welcome sean yeah look eke it out well before we begin. I want to warn the listener. That we'll be diving into spoiler territory so you've seen the film yet and don't wanna be spoiled. Turn off the podcast now and come back to us later so folks a minute ago. This islands is passed. Let's get into it sean. Overall what did you think of the film. I was pleasantly surprised. I've see reviews are widely varying. And i feel like your acceptance of this movie will is just a litmus test of your feeling about zack. Snyder's vision for these characters in this universe. Like i did not like batman versus superman don of justice even though i lost saying the title For the first time. I saw it and i was like. Oh this is a silly mess gets the characters. Wrong ivory watched it since i re-watch last year the slightly longer ultimate cost. I liked it a lot more. I'm not sure why accepted it so much. I guess the main thing it was is that without expectations. The first time i saw it. I think the first many what's off. They went in with expectations. And so that. Set me up nicely for the snyder costs. I knew what i was getting into. Yeah i actually. I did enjoy it. I was surprised. I would enjoy i. I was convinced was not going to be. I think because expectations were low for me and it was four hours but surprisingly saw confession is i have never watched the original theatrical cut of justice league in one sitting because always fall asleep like i slept through parts of every every time i've watched it and i have after watching a couple times mostly on airplanes. Were the were free and on demand. I was able to get but in multiple parts and i thought it was terrible and so this movie was a huge huge huge upgrade
Is Zach Snyder's 'Justice League' a Good Movie?
"The very controversial for so many reasons for content reasons for formatting reasons i saw so many memes about the fact that it was reformatted. Four three zack zack. Snyder's justice league has officially dropped. We say dropped on the internet right. It's not like premiering a movie theater. It's just dropping on on. Streamers is fishy dropped on hbo. Max there's a complicated back story where zacks under had to leave mid production because of a family tragedy which is very sad judd app not try that patel just we took over just we apparently was a total asshole and there were all sorts of lawsuits. About what a dickey was and then you know. The film by many fans was not felt to reflects what zach snyder intended and there was long discussion of a zacks undercut image. Peo- max put in seventy million dollars to shoot a whole bunch more footage to make the zack snyder. Cut of justice league. Come out for years later. This is an interesting story because it is different. From a lot of directors cut stories. A lot of directors cut stories are ten years later. I'm grateful the studio give me access to the archive to rescan the negative and re-cut it is very rare in fact i can't think of an example where someone's like four years later. I got an extra seventy five million dollars to shoot additional footage to make an alternate movie like it is. Is there another example. That are missing where somebody got that. I don't know but what i do know. Is that in the history of film. There have been many many many directors cuts and extended editions and versions. That were revisited. We've talked about some of them here before. And most of our audience familiar with many of them It is not unheard of obviously for there to be something that prevents the original vision to be completed by the person who had it. And obviously there are many instances where somebody could go back and try and piece things together. Only orson welles. A number of times We even talked to. I talked to walter merch about going back in and recruiting and working on touch of evil. There are the magnificent emerson's with him as well. I think he's one of the early versions. Were early famous versions but bladerunner famously for anybody mir charles age And so much inbetween. It's such a common story but this one does stand apart because yeah he was given basically a massive feature film budget to make more of it his version of it and it is an interesting thing like will this happen more often. Will we get criminal. And saying actually i want to shoot a whole different ending too dark dark knight rises fifteen years later. Because i've rethought it. And i wanna go into a very complicated sort of relationship between the artists and the work when you remove the theatrical premiere and when you open up the idea of shooting original additional footage it is a it's vastly different so Full disclosure wasn't able to finish it have a two year olds. Get very sleepy very easily. Don't have four hours with two year. Old where i can watch the whole thing but universally in my social media of the people in my life everyone i know seems to have really enjoyed the new cup more than the last cut. I do not understand why people hate on sex neither so much. I genuinely enjoyed his dawn of the dead. I thought it was solid. I also am a like. I wanted to get into movies. Originally to make watchmen. When i was nice school. I don't hate his watchman. Cut like everyone else does. I don't understand whether so mad about it. I think people to hate sex. Neither for some reason that does not make sense to me. I'll also disclosed and then michelle. I know michelle is actually watched both right but so i have watched the new one. I watched the snyder cut. I did it. I made it through. Well di i not a big comic book movie fan. In general i have seen many of them though. And i did not see the original justice league so i had to do some research on what changed which was really interesting to me. I also actually really think highly of him from a visual standpoint. I find that even when he's not like a lot of the movies directed this one included. The material is just not great in my opinion but he's visually so committed to the bit that he does that his sequences really worked for me. And i think he's a great comic book movie director choice. Because i think he's really. His camera is like ballot. Check i think his action sequences are visually compelling. And i think his approach like to me the thing that felt the weakest about this. I mean obviously the some some major casting problems major script problems but all that aside i think it it mimicked. Some of what marvel does too much sometimes which i don't really like. They're some straight up. Like this is just an avenger. Seen but not as good. And i don't really love what it was in the first place personally but all my my personal take aside. I think filmmakers He is just he really doesn't. He's earnest he's not tongue in cheek and sometimes it gets a little silly and you might laugh. But i think his earnest approach to how dramatic he is with his camera like from dawn of the dead to the three hundred to a and tackling real quick charles before michelle I think that warner brothers is known to have some really tight released times. They don't have the same war chest that disney does for like they. They set these release dates. They they have to make them. I'm not going to get into the wise. And if sets really true but and that puts a lot of pressure on finishing something and delivering something. And i think that some of the the flaws in some of these dc comic book movies have to do with some of that some of us so anyway onto you. Michelle i f Well done on watching. The center is a endeavor. I i think i knew what the runtime was. But it doesn't click in my head until i was watching and the timeline at the bottom. It has like how long you've watched. And i miss read it. I thought it was much like when it said two and a half hours at the bottom. I thought that was a total Not they meant time that i had laughed and that was quite a surprise. So it's long. Don't don't kid yourself jack. Knifed mini series has parts could have been released in parts. My first input. If you will is i feel like i. Keep reading the quote snyder cut. That snyder wouldn't release in two thousand seventeen and i would argue that. I don't know this is i. Don't think this is at all what would have been released for so many reasons. It's a it's a post weeden post tragedy post. Hbo max snyder display. I don't think we would be able to release a for. I could be wrong. A four hour epic in a theater in twenty seventeen. I don't obviously say that. There are many teaser. There are changes are subtle there. Some people have pointed them out and in terms of very subtle and different. Like stolen changes. That i think are in there now. For example there's a billboard others billboard in the city at some point in the messages you're not alone and a lot of people have guessed that something that snyder put in in reference to his daughter. Like these little things that have been put in log away 'cause post years of reflection on it and i just don't think not content aside just the run time. I'm not sure how many people really yes for hours within a theatre. Let's do it. I don't know if we the same. i do. Think a really interesting experiment if anyone ever wants to ever play with this idea of same footage different story concept of how to edit something together. Because i started watching the josh sweden version the same evening. Don't do this same evening through off after watching case for a minute i thought you were. You said you meant side by side like you had to i. Four by three setup does allow you. I will say to have it on the side of my screen. As i was like doing some work so i will say the former three at least helpful in the arrangements of your browser window because like i'm not cutting anything off because it's not a letterbox or other format so the four by three is is is makes it easier to have the size. No i tried watching the conversion right. After some of the scenes giving away some of the scenes that feel pivotal in the story. Line are like thrown in the credits. The opening like oh i get with. This is going to do you. I don't know if i can sit through

Justice League: A Tribute To Zack Snyder's Daughter
"May of two thousand seventeen. Snyder stepped away from the late stages of production and production. After his twenty year old daughter autumn took her own life and he told the hollywood reporter at the time in my mind. I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it but then he said the demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming and in the last two months. I've come to the realization up decided to step back from the movie to be with my family. Be with my kids. You really need me. They are all having a hard time. I'm having a hard time and so the version of this film that we're watching right now. This four hour film dedicated autumn and the proceeds from this film are going to suicide prevention. Which is of course very important. 'cause and there's no reason to make light of any of that stuff i think it's it's actually kind of amazing and kind of beautiful. That zack snyder got a chance to make the movie that he really wanted to make. Despite enduring this horrifically tragic period in his life for his family so in that respect this is kind of miraculous that had

Discussing the Show Masks (Spoiler Alert!)
"It struck me as somebody that is is pretty well versed in the in the graphic novel. The absolutely have done something like I say that extends stems from that work so you had this almost impossible task. You had to adapt in a sense. Something that you love and respect and probably idolize is getting a lot of people to yes but also then had to depart from it completely and make it something different. It had to be of it and apart from it. How did you negotiate that very carefully? Also completely totally haphazardly. I mean I think that it was a combination of the energy of a of a bowl in China shop and and then trying to catalog everything that you knocked over and broke so that you could replace it and both things had to happen simultaneously because I think that we went in With a high degree of fear and concern and delicate nece and then very quickly we were just like fuck all of that. Let's just go nuts. And then you had vacillate between those polls and the show sort of happened in the space where we were moving in between the polls because our job storytellers is to make something feel authentic to make could feel real and I wanted this television experience. Because it's not a comic book where you're turning the pages where illustrated cartoon characters I wanted to feel real real and authentic at the same time there's some true ridiculousness happening around the the fringes of this so the first thing that we did and And when I say we at the very beginning of this thing it was this guy. Jeff Jensen I and Jeff and I jeff was a reporter for entertainment weekly remember would write these crazy theories about lost cost under the pseudonym doc Jensen not not quite as soon because his last name is Johnson. Doc in front yes. He doesn't fraud easily easily from my understanding is he did not hold a doctorate in anything. Maybe lost in any way he and I collaborated on tomorrow and and did a lot of world building for that Disney thing but when the third time they came to me and said. Do you WanNa do watchmen and I started kind of feel the beginnings of a glimmer of what it would be about. I texted Jeff and I said I have two questions. The first question is like should there. Be a watchman TV show and then the second is should I do it and I think he responded depends ends and depends and then I was like yeah would you. Would you WanNa do it together. And then he came over and He was the first person that I really bounced a lot of these ideas off of and he and I put together. This list of adjectives A like almost like a recipe list of these are adjectives that we use to describe. The original watchmen. C'mon and if our version if we can check these same adjectives against it almost like a mad libs then than we maybe we earned the name and the first word on the list was original And so now there's this paradox were presented with which is. It's an adaptation of this thing. That already exists. How do you you make it original and I think the gaming of that paradox was still thinking about? Did we game but like that was really the challenge in front of us which was like how does this thing feel like. It's it's it's watchmen. But at the same time it could only feel like it's watchmen if it's taking huge risks when and it feels is like you. You're feeling nervous while you're watching it like A. I don't know what's happening and I don't like it and I don't know where this is going to go next and I'm a little bit scared and not it just scared where it's GonNa go narrative Lee but scared that it could jump the shark. When I read watchmen I could tell you? Twenty instances in over the course of those twelve issues shoes just took my breath away in terms of like. You aren't allowed to do that. I can't believe that just happened like my heart would be racing as I was reading. Thank those issues and to to to try to replicate that emotional sensation for the TV show. That's what we were chasing. Sometimes a we succeeded needed other times. Not but that was the brass ring we were all reaching for. So what we're talking about in many ways is the tone of watchmen and its ambition and and it's fearlessness. And when we begin your series right out of the gates it does seem like you hit those well. At least you hit the ambition and you hit the fearlessness. If watchmen the graphic novel was a meditation perhaps on the morality of heroism. It seems pretty clear from the beginning of your show so that your show is about race period the end it is about race. I want to ask you how much this emphasis on race from. The start was away for you to say not only. This show is the show about race. But I need you to know right now. It is about race Yeah I'M A I. I apologize in advance because I'm not really able to to answer that question articulately yet. And in many ways this my inability to articulate answer that question was replicated in the writer's room on a repeated basis and led to an incredible incredible of conversations. Both difficult in insertive revelatory of certainly from from my standpoint. But what I'll say. Is that the most difficult question and I think that a lot of writers have to answer. Where do you get your ideas from or what? What is a moment of inspiration like what's the flash point and and a lot of the man's to the the question the same way that I will which is like something just happens internally with that just like sort of clicks and slides into place and then at least I feel compelled to get it out out and most of the time for me? Those ideas don't like happen in the shower whereas like Oh this would be a cool idea for television show. It happens because I've read something or I'm listening running to something or I'm emotionally affected by something and essentially what was happening in my life was as the leftovers was ending and I was starting to kind of feel the panic of if I am not entirely sure that I'm ever GonNa WanNa do this again. I'm I'm not having any ideas. In watchmen is just coming at me for the third time. But it's watchmen and it's the you know for me. That's the you know. It's the Rosetta Stone. It's where all began for me. Maybe not the Rosetta Stone. Do More like the black monolith in two thousand one you know where stars yeah. It's it's full of stars quite literally perfect and and an intimidating and right at the time that they asked me the third time because that because they they'd they'd asked me two times is prior. You know once probably two thousand eleven just a couple years after Zack Snyder's movie and then again maybe in two thousand thirteen or twenty fourteen and now I'm thinking it's like twenty seventeen and and I'm placing this time around the time that Charlottesville is happening and I read between the world and many Tallahassee coaches book and I'll I'm just going to be honest with you I read the book because every single white progressive liberal in the in show business was like they say like this. If you read between the world have you read it like like the shame just like you so it's just like you have to read it. You really have to read it and so I was like this. Sounds like an astonishing piece of writing and it and it was when and when I read that. I also read case for reparations which was an essay that he wrote in the Atlantic a couple years? Probably before and in case for reparations which completely. It's both wildly intuitive. It's nothing that you don't already know but the way that it is written in the story that Mr Coates tells is like just changes ages changed the way that I saw the world. In in that essay he mentioned Black Wall Street Tulsa Twenty one and the way that he wrote about it it was just I I wanna say just three or four sentences or just a paragraph as you say it felt like the destruction of a world to me and at that time also Black Panther hadn't come out yet but it had been announced that Ryan Kugler was going to do it in Tallahassee. Coach was writing Black Panther and I was thinking about what Kanda and I was thinking that. If we're Kanda actually existed in the the real world if there was this place of African American exceptionalism I guess in the case of Kanda African exceptionalism but a place that we're only black people lived and they were the best scientists and it was utopia. If white people found out about this place they would destroy it. They burned to the ground. So all of those ideas were kind of like swirling around in my head and then I bought. This book called the burning about Tulsa twenty-one because because of having read and I was just astonished by this story on every single level most of all because I had never heard about it and I felt shame and embarrassment and I would talk to other people like I talked to people of Color and they go. Oh yeah and I talked two white people and they go. What and then I'd start explaining of? This is what happened and I would see them. Start to get feel embarrassed. And then and then disconnect which is what we do when we feel like? We're supposed to know something we don't know it and so all of that stuff was kind of swirling around in my head and the fundamental question that we were asking about doing watchmen is should we do it. And if so why now. And so I- reflected back on. The original watchmen set in one thousand. Nine hundred five of the came out in eighty six and although it takes place in an alternate version of of America it was dealing with a a nuclear standoff handoff between the USSR. America and and it's counting down towards inevitable nuclear destruction on both sides. That's what the that's what the heroes are solving for. It feels else that gets a murder mystery but unbeknownst to us what's really going on the answer to the murder mystery. He has done it is someone is actually trying to save the world world And and I was like so what. What's the big cultural anxiety? Now when you close the comic book and it stays with you and the answer was says. There's a reckoning happening in America as it relates to race. It's not to say that that reckoning wasn't happening during the civil rights movement where it wasn't happening in the the eighties or the nineties but right now as especially after Charlottesville and I remember very specifically Craig like when Charlottesville happened that there was this rhetoric that was happening around where people kept saying. I can't believe they're not wearing masks. They're not wearing masks anymore. The white supremacists are just out there and we can see their faces in shocking shocking. And so that was happening at the same time that. Hbo was saying do you. WanNa do watchmen show masks and I was like what are masks. You know like what happens when and you mix a mask with the administration of the law. That's the central idea of watchmen and then the KKK. Wears masks. And I'm starting to see protesters like Antigua's wary mass. This was long before Hong Kong. But it's like this idea of like covering your face is covering your face a justification for protecting in yourself or are you doing something that you probably shouldn't be or both and then all of that kind of went into the mix at the heart of it in the center of it. Is this remarkable the character that is not a carryover from watchmen but your invention Angela. Apr Sister

"Wars rise the resistance. Robert Pattinson's Batman Films Are a Trilogy: It's Bruce Wayne in 'Detective Mode,' Says Director
"All right. So this one this story that, that I saw this week. I was very excited to bring into the show tonight, I found it, it, it's not an onion story. And I, particularly think it's hilarious. And you thought it was bad when they announced Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson is officially the new Batman, the twilight actress set to play the Cape crusader in the Batman director, Matt Reeves film, scheduled for release in June of twenty twenty one Reeves was the filmmaker behind the last planet of the apes sequels athletes starting Batman in two titles directed by San by Zack Snyder Batman versus superman. Dawn of Justice in two thousand seventeen Justice league both films received mixed reviews and we're disappointment for Warner Brothers in its efforts to compete with marvel studios in the superhero. Realm patents in became a star following the breakout success of the five film, twilight franchise in which he portrayed. The vampire Edward Cullen opposite. Kristen stewart's. Bill Swann Jack, you're huge Batman fan, also now team Edwards. Well, okay. So Matt's of bigger, Batman fan than I am. I want to get to this in a moment, but I just had a conversation about this. Earlier today, one there was a great joke. Matt, you'll like this. And somebody said he's the worst vampire ever, because it took him ten years to turn into a bat. That is funny, and I have no problem with it all because the poor guy, I saw his stuff before he did twilight the hell of an actor and then he got pigeonholed into this awful, teeny Bopper, Rama thing that fortunately has given him this thing. He can't live down. So I'm gonna give him a shot. I have no problem with it as a giant Batman, nerd, only because Matt REEs, generally doesn't make crappy movies. So. As movies are really good. He did. Lord. He did the remake of let the right one in and actually generally really good. It's far as remix go, oh, those excellent. Yeah. I mean, he doesn't make bad movies for the most part. So I kind of trust his judgment, and he's he doesn't wanna do the over the top popcorn. Every five minutes and explosion type Batman movie. He wants to do a dark detective Noir story where you are showing Batman, using his skills, I've been wanting to see that in a movie for a really long time. So I'm okay with it. The guys at decent actor. Yeah. I don't know how to do is Bruce, Wayne. I think he'll do fine when he's in the costume you do. Yeah. I think it will. I think it'll be okay I trust Matt Reeves. I mean I don't. You never sold the twilight movies. I've only seen stuff he's done outside light, and it's always been fine.
Breaking Down 'Shazam!'
"Finds itself at an interesting inflection point. I would say I thought she was a very fun and entertaining movie, but it did not really feel like anything that had come in the DC universe before. And you kind of explain to me. What should I am is? And what it's trying to do. Sure. I mean, I kind of had the. To do the same thing after watching the movie because like right around the time the post credits scene with a evil Caterpillar happened. I was kinda like I've no idea what any of this stuff is. So thankfully, Mike does have a a piece on the ring dot com. A great website kind of breaking down the kind of Kazan origins. But yeah, he's he was actually originally called captain marvel and like in the movie there was like a wizard named 'schisms who gave him like all these superpowers. But when he sorta got folded into DC comics because marvel had its own captain marvel he then became Zam. But the whole spiel is basically the same thing like the wizards powers you activate it by saying Zam, and then I guess in the big conversion you just become buff, Zachary Levi. Yeah, I didn't even know buff Zachary Levi was going to be a thing that I would ever have to talk about. I can't say when I was watching Chuck ten years ago. That this ever crossed my mind that he would be a superhero, I think Tony Lee. This movie is pretty significantly different from superman vs Batman and the Justice league films and even wonder woman, which I thought was you know, is a very charming and obviously hugely successful movie. But there is a lightness in the tone, and it's not quite as operatic goofy. As was l-. You know, what did you make of the kind of movie that Sam was trying to be yet? No, I thought it was fun at kind of had like almost throwback Amblin entertainment coming of age vibe like something you'd see from like Amblin in like the eighties. But with the caveat that instead of a kid going on venture or something he can just become a superhero. But I thought it was a it was it was kind of an appropriate tone for for the kind of here that this guy is and I kind of like that, you know, a kid like a teenager becoming Kazan like he has like a bit of an aimlessness to him at the beginning. Like, there's not the sort of great power with great with great power comes great responsibility type speech. You just sorta has to learn things on the fly Yemen. One of the first things that the character does after he realizes his powers as he just goes to a convenience store in buys beer and candy. And you know, I it, you know, the movies clearly pitched as sort of what if big, but superhero, and it's very effective in showing us like maybe not with the real world ramifications would be because it's a little bit different in tone in the real world. But some of the like aspirations that you have as an adolescent, and the things that you wish you could do when you were thirteen sham does for the first hour of this movie, and the movie ultimately just becomes a story about like friendship and the way that we act bigger and older than we are. And what we can get away with in that time. And then it does turned into a little bit of a superhero movie. What did you make of the kind of balancing of those tones? Yeah. I mean, I think I did prefer sort of the the first half of the move. In that respect, as you know, there are so many superhero movies out there. And I think for the most part it's sorta gets derivative to when the movie gets the guy discovers his powers, you know, like Peter Parker, like scaling skyscrapers type of thing. But it was fun for Suzanne because it felt very like very genuine response. What if a fourteen year old kids suddenly had powers like, yeah? He would try to buy beer. He would go to script strip club in like beam about the chicken wings because this is a PG thirteen movie. You know, if he's in a world where superman Batman exists, and he doesn't really know. What to do is? You just if he can't find people to save is he just going to he's going to try to make cash and become a YouTube star. It was an interesting approach. But I think like I preferred that half of the movie versus like, the Mark strong shows up with seven CGI deadly sin, archetypes, or whatever. And it's time to punch him a lot. Yeah. I agree. I don't think part was active. It's funny because it feels like a movie like this, which is not exactly a reinvention. But is a is a reconsidering of what these kinds of movies can be still does arrive and its conclusion at the notion that needs to feature a lot of punching and a lot of fighting the bad guy. I'm curious to see if as we grow inside, the D C E U, I guess much like Zam. If they'll ever change the the the approach that they take having kind of the final showdown in the final forty five minutes of the movie that was also one of my struggles. Honestly with wonder woman, which I thought as I said was really clever and well made and then ultimately just turned into Diana fighting a demon monster who was played by David through Lous. What do you make of the decisions that DC is now making to singular is each of their movies? I mean, it's interesting because like, you know, they they did a pretty quick pivot from like fast-tracking their Justice league movie which end up being like relative to the expectations a bit of a bomb for them. Also, it didn't really track critically. But you know, they're kind of like making these films that have this very little interconnectivity like aquaman was only really playing the seeds for Auckland to and I guess a trench spinoff, which I could go on like a twenty minutes handed about the trench about the trend. Can't wait for the trench. And like kind of the same thing with wonder woman sequel in feels that way, which is. To you know, if it does well enough at the box office like affiliates just leading into sham two or maybe like a black atom movie, which is like a sham villain. That's supposed to be played by Dwayne Johnson. If you look at like the C projects that are in the air like a rebooted suicide squad, James Gunn, new bad movie. Perhaps a flash movie there's all these other projects like the one glaring omission is there are no plans to make like a Justice league to and not to say that would never happen again. But clearly like the D C you right now is content. Just kind of throwing stuff out there and seeing what resonates with audiences yet. If you look down there slate, we talked about this a little bit during the release of aquaman, but I was just in add an in Vegas at cinema Khan. And they were very proud of the approach that they were taking telling their stories because the next the next handful of movies. They have is of course, Zam, and you know, they also have joker which is coming in October. Which also feels quite standalone seems to have virtually nothing in common with the movie Lakesha Zam. And then there's also a birds of prey which is. Theon story of sort of five superhero team that will also include Margot Robbie Harley Quinn, and that totally and visually looks completely different from those other two movies. And so they've taken this decision to not just make that flash movie and not just make whatever inevitable green lantern movie. And with the same kind of stormy visualises that that Zack Snyder created, but to just kind of individually each story, which is what a lot of comic books are actually a lot of comic books have separate illustrators. They have separate writers their tones are quite different amazing spider. Man could be quite different from x men and superman could be quite different from, you know, detective comics, and what's going on with that, man. And of course, I guess next year late next year. We'll have the Batman which Matt Reeves Batman movie. Do you know, your your very closely track the comp films for us is it more interesting to you of all of this the fits together or do you like it better? If it stands alone and the movies get to be what they are. Well, I. Kind of like maybe I just have a bit of a marble fatigue. Just because it feels like we've been preparing for endgame like just just forever. But yeah, I kind of like this approach because you know, like, if something doesn't, you know resonate with with audiences like I personally wasn't as big of a fan as as wonder woman as other people were which is fine. You know, I I like parts of it. But, but you know, for the most part people really enjoyed it. And I think you know, it's an interesting approach. I think what will probably be most interesting is with wonder woman command and Zam they've all been pretty well received. And they've made a good amount of money. I'm curious what happens like how the DC EU responds when something flops with critics audiences in the box office. Do they like shake it off? Or if it's like, if it's bracing a certain tone, like, you know, let's say joker is actually quite terrible. And and you know, it's like a Scorsese prestige that. Just kind of doesn't work like will the DC you kinda void being that experimental. Again. I I'm curious to see what happens when there's kind of like a speed bump on the road for them. I am too is an interesting question because it does seem like in with Shas AM and most likely joker and handful of these other movies. They don't come with that two hundred and fifty million dollar production price tag. You know, they're definitely smaller movies with more modest ambitions, at least in terms of the execution of the movie. And so the risk is lower. So if let's say joker is not the sort of world-beating, cultural colossus that many would have us believe this week. That's okay. I think that they could probably survive that. And it's an you're right. It is a really interesting pivot away from all of that interconnectiveness. Is there anything else about his that you you really liked and you responded to? Yeah. I really like that, you know, I thought Zachary Levi was was just so good at like kind of capturing basically like, you know, a kid in a swollen dealt spot ended it so well like there were times where you almost felt to childlike for guy who's still like fourteen years old, but you could tell he was just having such a blast. And and yeah, I would have never expected Chuck would be like a swollen superhero. But I never expected Jim from the office to like, you know, make some hard movie also become buffer like Michael bay film. So I I guess, you know sick. I'm stars. They can transform. Yeah. Could you cast a sitcom debauche sitcom figure into into a superhero movie right now is there? Anybody springs to your mind? Is Jim Parsons our next. Green lantern. You think? Oh god. No, no. I'm trying to think of like if someone from parks and rec ado that transformation that isn't Chris Pratt. Because I mean, he's he's just forget about this point. He's he's like a discount printing. Frazier. But he he has done that as well. I mean, I guess maybe if if Adam Scott were cast as as galactic that would probably that. That's as close as we're gonna get
Zack Snyder Returns to Movies After Stepping Away from Justice League Due to Daughter's Suicide
"Excuse me, according to the Hollywood reporter the movie is set to start filming this summer. And more news Snyder announced his decision to step down from Justice league in emotional interview with HR where he also revealed that autumn had died two months earlier in March two thousand seventeen and the he initially went back to work to after her death. He later realized it wasn't what was best for him and his family, and my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work to just bury myself into see if that was. If that was way through it that was a way through it Stanton. Toni T HR the demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming and in the last two months, I've come to the realization decide to take a step back from the movie to be with my family be with my kids who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I'm having a hard time. The director later thanked fans for the support on Twitter after they announced. Thanks for the appointed support. ‘Aladdin’ Producers Set ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Live-Action Remake at Disney
"But most of the live action Disney adaptations have been of like the Walt Disney classics. And this is the first it's kind like not like one of those beloved fairytale stories that they're trying to adapt. I guess, lady and the tramp isn't a fairytale story either. But you know, every time I go to Disneyland, the stitch merchandises like out of control there is like they sell so much merchandise based on that movie I, it was only a matter of time before this is going to happen. I can imagine that stitch will be like a CG creation and we'll have a young, Hawaiian star kind of I almost picture kind of like, you know. It would being optimistic here, Chris, but I think if done right, this could be like a fun mwana. I've action kind of movie, I guess. I mean, yeah, there's material is there to do something good. It's just, I don't know. I'm just getting. This film was so recent. There's really no reason for Disney to remake it. I don't know why they're so hell bent them. I mean, I know why they wanna make money, but. It's getting a little tiresome. There's remaking everything, but there's definitely the chance this could turn out. Well in the movie has such great style has some good music, but it doesn't really have a strong story, Brad. Do you have any connection with Leland Stitcher? You excited for live action remake. I really liked to Leila Wednesday, which when it came out, it's not one of my favorites or anything like that. But I think that it's it's pretty funny and I can see where it had the potential for like maybe like an Amblin kind of style live action movie because it had has flares t. and things like that. But it's also a little bit bigger and more cartoony than that because you know, there's the
