Historic Winter Storm Brings Heavy Snow, Dangerously Cold Temperatures To Dallas Area

"President Biden has declared an emergency in Texas and ordered federal assistance the state among those in the grip of an unusual winter storm system. Texas Public Radio's Jerry Clayton reports. The storm is bringing snow ice and near record low temperatures. Forecasters say the entire state will be affected. Kurt van Spy Brooke is with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. We have winter storm warnings out for the entire state of Texas from Amarillo and El Paso, all the way East to the Sabine and even down in the deep South Texas and the real Grande Valley. Vance by Brooke says dangerously cold temperatures will rival weather records as far back his 1986 with lows in the single digits. The state Department of Transportation is discouraging travel statewide. Texas is also dealing with higher than normal power generation outages due to frozen wind turbines and limited natural gas

What is the Ice Hotel?

"The ice hotel is a hotel. An art exhibition made of ice from the river. Torne each year reincarnated end. The brand new design a place to discover silence northern lights glistening snow clad forests reindeer cloud berries kettle coffee and so much more every year when the torne river turns to ice. A new ice hotel is created in a very small village of yuccas yari. In the north of sweden the ice of the river transforms to design and architecture and ephemeral art project and the world's first and largest hotel belt of snow and ice every year. Since i was a little girl. I have wanted to visit the ice hotel in sweden. It was a long shot. But i figured it was a dream and nothing would come of it. I imagined myself at the magical place made of ice and snow and how would be unusual and a once in a lifetime experience for me after all. I have had my time and stockholm sweden. But that's as far as my travels in. Sweden took me northern. Sweden would have to be for another time. I had rubbed shoulders with adults from my swedish language. Learning camp in bemidji minnesota which. I went to every october to better my conversational and writing skills and the swedish language and found the stories fascinating. I asked them to tell me their tales again and again. The older women some of them actually swedes from sweden took liberties with their stories and change them up a bit just for the fun of it every time it was a new adventure one of the stories that might have been up. Made me giddy with excitement and marymount. It was based around christmas time and it seemed so cozy in real. Surely it must be true. I didn't ask though. I imagined myself as being sabine. She'd that was telling the story and having the is hotel experience. Imagine with me arriving from stockholm to the ice hotel and yucca. Crv right on the torn revolver. The torne river is where they get all the ice for the ice hotel. The many designers engineers architects artists and workers start building the hotel from scratch every year. A labor of love. No doubt this year they were having a very special christmas. Celebration and architects engineers and designers were making special holiday installations special trees and wreaths the lap of an ice santa claus to sit on to tell your christmas wish to glistening chandeliers adorned with red and green colors projected onto the mini lighted fixtures some spaces clean and monochromatic swedish as expected and some fanciful like a childhood memory of a colorful christmas season. Passed my five cents is were working overtime. I smelled holly and evergreen saw the different colors of projected lights felt the unbearable coldness hurt the piano. Playing jazz seasonal selections center to my right or was it to my left and i was greeted at the front reception with champagne and cloud berries something. I don't even think we have an america. The woman behind the ice desk gave me a reindeer skin blanket to put over my shoulders and walked me to an outdoor firepit only steps away on the outside of the building a roaring fire and wonderful ice chairs covered in some more reindeer blankets. My mind was blown away with excitement. What else would i experience. I had just started my four night adventure in this cold winter. Christmas wonderland soon enough. I was handed a mug of coffee with rum. And i knew this was where i wanted to call home forever. More adventurers came to sit by the firepit with the same wide. Eyed wonder and spirited excitement. I smiled but kept my eyes glued to the fire but all the visitors new that the ice and snow wouldn't last long as the ice hotel closed down in april before my trip was over i will have gone across the wilderness in snowshoes. Go on sleigh rides with reindeer. See the northern lights had met the saami people of lapland. I will have eaten swedish. Christmas cuisine and watched the saint lucia event. But for now time stood still as i glazed is over the fire and dreamed later i would be shown to the room. I selected my very own ice room with an actual ice table complete with a mini refrigerator and colored ice sculptures of christmas past and reindeer blankets covering my ice bed and an actual fireplace. I can watch while laying in bed. The time seemed like an endless christmas trip. But also that. If i didn't hurry i'd miss the whole thing in a blink of an eye. I grew sleepy and dreamed of a wonderful time. The one thing i knew was that this wouldn't be my last time here at the ice hotel for christmas yes there would be more visits and perhaps a chance to be a worker in making it all come together for the holiday season later that first night i was given cheese and blog a red wine with rum learning all new things about the swedish way of life hand was going to be a you fork experience for shore

The Kerry Babies

"On saturday april fourteenth nineteen eighty-four. In cahiers sabine in county kerry ireland a local man jack griffin was out for a jog on white strand fees when he saw what looked like a doll wedged between the rocks in a plastic back. It was the body of a newborn baby. Boy he had been strangled. His neck was broken and his tiny body had twenty eight stab wounds. Four of them were in his heart. The baby was about five days old born on or about the seventh of april and had been dead for two days the irish police known as the gardy recalled and they in turn called the undertaker. Tom carnitine when he arrived tom. Cruise into the baby with water from a nearby freshwater stream. He placed him in a small casket and gave him a name john. The gardy suspected the baby's mother specifically an unmarried mother perhaps a teenage girl or woman who was having an affair with a married man in catholic ireland in the early eighties. Abortion was illegal as was divorce condoms were only available with a prescription and birth control. Pills were only prescribed to married women. Both were difficult to obtain any sex education or lack thereof was laid out by the church. Young unmarried woman found herself pregnant. Her parents could send her away to a church. Run home where she would have her baby in secret and then the nuns would take it away for adoption. Irish women few options could use. Evine was a small town in police. Knew that someone with no something. They questioned women all over town even physically examining some of them for signs of a recent pregnancy before long. They found a suspect joanne hayes. Joanne hayes was a twenty five year old single mother who lived roughly forty miles away. In abbey dorney north kerry. She had recently been pregnant but wasn't anymore and no one had seen a baby. Joanne worked as a receptionist at a gym. It was there that she met the father of her children. Jeremiah block jeremiah. Was married with children so joe am lived with her daughter. Her mother her aunt and her siblings on the family farm. She hid the pregnancy and by april. Her relationship with jeremiah was over joanne. Hayes told police that she gave birth alone on april twelfth but her baby died shortly after she then buried the infant on her family's farm. Burials like this were common as babies who were born out of wedlock or weren't baptized. Were not permitted to be buried in consecrated ground. Babies like joannes received home. Burials after this traumatic birth joanne needed medical attention and it was through the hospital that these authorities discovered her as the guardian interrogated joann. She begged and pleaded insisting that if they would just allow her to show them her baby's grave on the farm. She could prove that she was not responsible for baby john. They refused

Galveston, Houston Officials Say Marco Could By-Pass Texas, Not As Confident With Laura

"County Judge Mark Henry presents information from the national hurricane Forecasters they're going to shift market was tracked to the east, meaning it could possibly bypassed Texas altogether. So at this point before the update, they were not expecting a storm surge warning for anything west of Sabine Pass. Judge Henry continues to explain a few possibilities of what could happen in a couple of days. That storm is anticipated to make landfall somewhere between Monday afternoon on Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately, right on the heels of Marco, we have Laura. We don't have as much confidence in the forecast for Laura at this moment, but they will get better as time passes one of the considerations Isas Laura, go over the landmass that it's currently over. If it goes over the landmass are to the north of the landmass. It has a more difficult time strengthening and organizing. If it goes south of land mass. It has an easier time strengthening and developing. And the judge reminds you prepare for the worst and prepare now we're

App helps restaurants reduce food waste

"At the end of each day. Cafes and restaurants often throw out pre made meals that did not sell. It's a waste of food. It costs money and it's bad for the climate when food breaks down on a landfill it releases methane a potent greenhouse gas. Some eateries offered discounts on items. That would otherwise end up in the trash when Sabine Bolenga was a graduate student. She loved discovering these deals and connected with others. Who did too we were all kind of scrappy. International students living in very expensive CDs like Boston and New York so to help promote these deals and encourage more businesses to offer them. The group created an APP called food for all it allows eateries to post and sell surplus meals at a steep discount so far the two year old company works with about two hundred and fifty restaurants in Boston and New York City and plans to expand to more cities this year. Phalange says the platform benefits the climate restaurant owners and anyone who loves to find a great deal on food restaurants. Get to generate extra profits from what otherwise would be wasted.

Feeling inner Joy

"Welcome to the daily Meditation podcast. I'm Mary medically and I ought. Are you for showing up for yourself today as you give yourself permission to slow down and connect to the best part of who you are anytime you slow down even if it's for a cup of tea or a smoothie or a cup of coffee you're allowing yourself to relax and pull away from the cares and worries of the day and this is important. I remember when I lived in Japan and I worked for a company and how I started sipping tea on a regular basis was actually at this company and I remember that throughout the day there would be several tea breaks where there were actual ladies. There were two ladies who had come and deliver green tea and people would push away from their cubicles and maybe even sit down on the floor and meditate in close their eyes and sit there. T. and I remember at first thinking. Oh I'm just going to push through and get my work done and not and take a break and I noticed that win. My Co workers were finished with their tea breaks which lasted about five or ten minutes. I would say about ten minutes a couple times a day refreshed and energized whereas I was starting to lose steam so I started to take these tea breaks and start relaxing and calming my mind and body and Sabine the tea and I found that it became my favorite part of the day and I was so much more productive. Well Meditation helps you to feel the same way. Just a nice little break. So whether you sit down and formerly meditate for ten fifteen twenty minutes to half an hour on up or you just take a few minutes to relax and do something calming you are doing good things for yourself. And we continue along with our series on anxiety. Our theme were exploring. This week is how to manage anxiety. I like to say that the best time to prepare for an emergency is before it actually happens and so you are discovering a different meditation technique and insight in each episode. This week that you can literally in some cases keep in your back pocket. In case you start feeling come on or you are experiencing an anxiety attack so for your meditation technique. Today I have some yoga in your hands. This is a meditation technique that is called a moot era and they are very similar to acupuncture or acupressure. Our hands and fingertips have a lot of nerve endings. And when you position your hands in a certain way it stimulates he corresponding region of your brain. That's how these Mutri's work and are so effective the best thing about Madonna's you can do them on or off your meditation cushion or your chair however you meditate. I do mood Russia's throughout my day and you'll find your favorites. The mood of four. This week is called the Lung Mudra. It's a simple Mutiara that you can easily do. I can guide you right through it. If you hold these new dress for five to ten minutes you get great results. You even hold them for a minute. That's still very good. Release the mood. Draw when you start to feel yourself

"The house could have pursued investable the house considered whether or not they would try to have him come testify in Sabine and they chose not to subpoena him and this all goes back to the most important consideration I think that this chamber has before it in some ways especially on this dress threshold issue of whether there should be witnesses or not has to do with the president that's established here for what kind of impeachment proceeding this body will except for now going for so how do you explain that a big what Mr bin is saying that this isn't just about president trump this is about all future presidents and the relationship between the house and the Senate when it comes to impeachment this service business Fuhrman said if the house can undertake a partition half baked impeachment inquiry on articles of impeachment and dump it into the Senate slap one of these questions on executive privilege would have to be litigated through the courts with delays of weeks if not months that that would set a bad precedent and basically allow the house to take over the Senate agenda when we can't do anything else so I'm I'm pretty I'm pretty optimistic that senators understand that this is a product of of a politician half baked unprepared it impeachment inquiry that we should not let the become the new normal so center Corning joins us from Washington center can you give me an idea what's going to happen today what I understand is one thing guaranteed is four hours on debating the need for witnesses two hours each that's right that's right will start at one o'clock eastern time and I don't know there's been a lot of repetition in this you'll hear a lot of the same over and over and over again but that's the rules and then moved on this motion to add additional witnesses but most set I must say Briarwood there were seventeen witnesses who sworn testimony was taken during the impeachment inquiry all that's been available to the impeachment managers and the president's lawyer yeah so it's not as if there's not going there isn't any evidence in fact chairman Nadler said the evidence is overwhelming so it's hard to say there's no evidence and the evidence is overwhelming at the same time so so four hours there if those four hours resulted in no witnesses will you vote tonight the end this thing I think that's one likely because it will take it'll take us some time to set up the in the in game here but what I do expect is that some point it could be tonight that senator McConnell will introduce a motion to go to a final vote and that will be debated debatable it'll be amended but ultimately a fifty one senators want to go to a final vote we will do that at some point and I think it will probably be in the next few days but the course of that even Saturday seven so you're saying you might not do is Saturday we could be Saturday but the is senator Schumer wants to offer in this amendment this could turn into a what we call around here a little while now because is no technical limit to the number of amendments he could offer but once he sees the hand writing on the wall but I think as a practical matter will be end up going to that final vote I just can't tell you when exactly was going to be could be today could be Saturday would be Monday so what he does not want to do is let the president have a state of the union with the wind at his back absolutely absolutely could be a consideration but the I think Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar sure would like to be in in Iowa for the Iowa caucuses on February the third so I think there's an incentive on both sides to land this airplane once and for all all right that would be great and I know it must be really would be really great for you used to being productive he's got to sit there and watch but today the senators get to talk right that's right that's right the managers a little bit but if so you know this is mainly a sitting and listening Gration it's unlike any other court in the country certainly different from this with the Senate usually operates but I'm sure there's been no shortage of centers talking to TV cameras on radio in elsewhere but we need to bring this national nightmare to an end to get on with the election that's the way we ought to choose our leaders I too I thought center John John Cornyn thanks so much thanks Brian you guys so we are talking about the game where they can city chiefs here on this Friday or one and a half point favorites to win the Superbowl but obviously it's too close to call next I'm gonna take some phone calls one eight six six four oh eight seven six six nine then I'm gonna welcoming the o'connor will close at the R. which thighs man this is the Brian kill me Joe and I'll be signing books Sam Houston the Alamo Avengers and I'll be doing that from twelve thirty to two news makers.

"In the social sciences or an epidemiologist medicine it it can be true in Info. It's probably more likely to be true in physics but maybe not I don't know I think it's a big problem that that the academic priesthood is again. Maybe doesn't doesn't have much clothing on yeah. I think you're right that these these issues I are very closely related to this reproducibility crisis the data we see in psychology and and parts of sociology. Laghi outsourcing is very similar to the crisis that we have the foundations of physics at this problem has known for a long time. You know if you this. Is something the thing that even I learned when I so I studied mathematics. Originally I had to take some courses on statistics. this whole story with the with the the people on the coast group selection all of this it was no secret that that this is how you can officially increase the significant significance significance of your findings so people in the field could very well have improved methodology decades ago but they didn't do it why because it would have been inconvenient it would have made it much harder to produce papers and it's exactly the same thing that is going on in the foundation of physics you know people have fallen in love love these models of Super Sumatra why because they easy to produce and you know how you do the calculations and you can put a lot of papers in a short oughta amount of time and that keeps the wheels turning and so that continues to proliferate basically and was still doing this. Well one thing you mentioned. I'm not sure where it at this way but part of the problem is there are a lot lot more physicists and a lot more social scientists than there used should be so you got a public. It's not sound like Broadway. You know it's not like other disciplines that are winner winner. Take all this room for. Everybody would just more journals if we have to. We're going to get more publications. wha what you. I don't think he's too many facility. You just say there are a lot more but you could argue either too many right well. I would say everything is relative to many for what you know obviously not a enough to make progress saw so so the thing with the the reason why I say that there are aww physicists is that it it tends to lead to fractional ization of the communities they tend to fall apart into specialized niche and that's not helpful to due to you know try to solve complicated problems that usually required that you connect. Murray different regents. It's so I think that's a that's a big problem that basically the way that we're organizing research right now. It tends to favor the people who specialize specialize on something and it does not leave enough room for people who try to make these connections. You're right just to give people a feel for what we're talking about. Here is since nineteen seventy-three. There hasn't been any successful new prediction that would supersede the standard model and that's a long time. We're heading toward fifty years of of you could call it stagnation. We've talked about on the program before with with Patrick Collison about the pace of innovation and some people have argued that we figured out all the big stuff all the the low hanging fruits been picked. It's one argument so we've kind of figured up almost everything and the fact that we haven't found these last few pieces not not so important. It's demoralizing to the people in the field perhaps but other people would suggest Oh. It's just a temporary slowdown. We're GONNA will have a big breakthrough again again like we always do what are your thoughts on that and in particular you feel like physics is less exciting today that it used because of these issues. How would I know around the ninety seventy s but I I I assume it wasn't been very exciting when they found all these new particles on but I I. I don't think that this is something that we're just resolve by itself. I mean you have probably read this book which is called the end of science by John Horgan. No Oh no I have in your view John but I don't think I've read that book okay well. He says basically that science is coming to an end as you from the title of the book In in the sense that you know that there will be no more scientists on scientific research but that we have discovered all the big insights roughly speaking speaking and he tries to blame this on. There's maybe a fundamental limits to knowledge which we have just reached or for its limit of human cognition basically I find this very very implausible because we're seeing the stagnation all over over the place you know it's not just the the foundations of physics but it's other disciplines that he's talking about for example complexity research as one that are you likes to go on about but so we also have a problem in in you know certain sectors of technology maybe you could add quantum technologies there specifically which is something that is looking into recently and so it looks very much like it is a systemic problem and this is what makes me think it must be something about the way that we're organizing scientific research. They just allow scientists to get stuck in these in these non promising research fields because they can't get out is he cutting because they have to continue to produce papers and that's easier to do on the topic where a lot of people work on already but it's it's true that you know it's true that a lot of potential and as you say it's it's it's relative but a lot of breakthrough meaning more than you would expect come from people from outside the field who get a fresh look who aren't stuck in the box who aren't stuck in a particular way of thinking I'm not impressed by how most physicists physicists to economics but maybe physicist is we'll have a breakthrough in economics because they aren't constrained by the models and in ways that economists are trained at the United States and elsewhere. It's possible that that we are somewhat stuck as you say but it seems to me I think is are we reaching many of the limits of of data collection bins extraordinary what we're able to see of the universe in terms of measuring eh particles just. I mean it's extraordinary thing how much data we babe. We've been able to accumulate both in terms of particle physics and also so astrophysics. It's it's if you'd said to someone a hundred years ago our two hundred years ago about what we know now they they would have just said that's impossible but it does make me wonder and as I sympathize a little bit with Oregon that our ability to continue to add to that database in some sense is limited by in so many ways and in certainly in economics the kind of data that we wanna have we're never going to have and I think our ability understand say the macro economy is is fundamentally a constrained because of that drawing on on Hayek's Nobel Prize address. We'll put a link to that Do you think that's true physics that maybe are billy discover. New stuff is limited by the fact that we have pick the low hanging data fruit. There's just not that much more we can gather about the origins of the Big Bang or the you know the what's happening at at galaxies in black holes say they're real far away or to get information about so it it. It's definitely becoming more difficult but if you look at the history of physics what has happened so far is that we have gathered you insights about the way that nature works let has allowed allowed us to develop new technologies which have led to new insights which have led to new technologies and that cycle seems to be broken and it's broken knob on the data collection side because we have a lot of data. It's broken on the theory development side where we're just missing explanations for that data and so. I think that what you say is true it. It becomes more difficult to collect data but that doesn't explain why we're stuck because it's not the data collection. That's the the problem now. When it comes to economics or you know society in in general I think that's a that's a much more complicated a question how much how much you can even learn from the data in principle I. I don't think anyone really knows you know in a insist that that's so complex. How much can you even get out of the day to it. In principle yeah I think it's incredibly primitive and and it's dangerous because we look where the light is as you point out the drunk with the keys lost lost keys looks under the lamppost and economists look where the Dadar because that's what we have and the idea that the data aren't good enough to answer. The questions you want to answer is never that's not acceptable. when I suggest this type people say things like well. This is the best data we have. I think it's not good for what the question is but it's the best ada meaning. What else could you do. The answer is as well. You'd be humbled by wicked understand but people don't like that that does you know that doesn't sell It's a It's an interesting idea that that will get more that we have a lot more data. I guess my challenge to you is an economist is it's hard to understand why so many physicists are locked in this these boxes are stuck with these theoretical goal straitjackets because you're suggesting there's a tremendous opportunity to get out of those jackets to get out of those boxes and and look at the world in a fresh way and usually it'd be a bunch of people working that it is high risk. I get that yeah. What could I say. I think they should listen to me. Is Anyone Sabina. Does what kind of reaction is your book on. Well the people who aren't I'm paying their listening to me. What do you mean what I have some post docs and say to uh money makes things possible well to be fair. I so so I think that the senior people in the fields which are basically everyone who's older than me basically don't care what I'm saying but the younger people do I know this both from the emails that I get and also from people who need at conferences or when a give lectures or something like this because they don't they don't want to work on something that is on promising and waste the time of life right and so so that's certainly a big part of the audience that I've.

"Every teacher or what we do Sir I will be teaching developmental psychology in one of the areas that Sabine researches yes our executive function our ability to consciously control our thoughts and actions and it's what allows our conscious brain to override things we do automatically by habit so it like if I like when I wake up in the morning and again and then I put my slippers on I'm not using my executive function I'm just doing that that's a something that I can think about is how hard is it for you to get out of bed it's every I get on my slippers on like a automatic thing well for some people it's not as automatic because they wanna sleep princely take effort right so there will be differences but yeah there's a lot of things you can do a life without thinking too hard about it you just kind of do it but I think executive function comes in to play when it you need to be more conscious and you have specific goals and there's like specific things that you need to execute right especially when there are underlying habits and that kind of go against what you're trying to do here's more from Simi double on the Ted stage so we use executive function every day in all aspects of our lives it's what we use when we need to break away from habit inhibit our impulses and plan ahead executive function is really complex it's shaped by numerous factors it's no surprise the researchers like me are so interested in understanding it and figuring out ways to improve it but lately executive function has become a huge self improvement buzz word people think you can improve it through brain training iPhone apps and computer games well I'm here to tell you that this way of thinking about executive function is all wrong training one improved executive function in a broad sense because it involves exercising in a narrow way outside of the real world context in which we actually use it if you really want to improve your executive function in a way that matters for your life you have to understand how it's influenced by context and success in real world situations depends on things like how motivated you are and what your peers are doing now let me give you an example from my research I recently brought in a bunch of kids do the classic marshmallow test which is a measure of delayed gratification that also likely requires a lot of executive function so you may have heard about this test for basically kids are given a choice they can have one marshmallow right away or if they can wait for me to go to the other room and get more marshmallows they can have two instead now most kids really want that second marshmallow but the key question is how long can they weeks now I am the twists to look at the effects of context they told each kid that they were in a group like the green group and I even gave them a green tee shirt to wear and I said your group waited for two marshmallows and this other group the orange group did not and then I left the kid alone in the room and I watch on a webcam to see how long they waited so what I found was that kids who believes that their group waited for two marginals for themselves more likely to wait so they were influenced by that they'd never even met so what this all shows this just how much context matters these kids had good executive function or bad it's that the context helps them use it better I mean that would suggest that you can actually improve a child's executive function if you can somehow convince them to wait it would suggest that it's possible to change the way that people make decisions I totally agree I mean there's all kinds of examples where this seems to happen you can really exploit things like social influences on to help you do things that you want to do like to help you use that executive function to get out the door and go exercise for example and to maintain an exercise routine like group exercise I think a lot of people have already picked up on this like group exercise works because you get used to being in an environment with other people that have friendly faces that you know when they expect you to be there in becomes more meaningful for you so in a way like I think you have to trick yourself you have to tell yourself like right now you might say like there might be some area of life where you want to improve we feel he just can't figure out how to change your decisions are being better make better decisions if you can make that more meaningful for you then it'll be easier for you to try to use that efforts to achieve those goals so this is me for you and for your kids well let's say that you want to learn Spanish you could try changing your contacts and surrounding yourself with other people who also want to learn and even better these are people that you really like that way you'll be more motivated to use executive function or let's say that you want to help your child you better on her math homework you can teach your strategies to use executive function in that particular context like putting her phone away before she starts studying or planning to reward herself after studying for an hour now I don't want to make it sound like context is everything executive function is really complex it's shaped by numerous factors what I want you to remember is if you want to improve your executive function in some aspects of your life think about the context and how you can make your goals matter more to you and how you can use strategies to help yourself in that particular situation don't look for quick fixes the key part of this is knowing how context shapes your behavior and how you can use that knowledge to change for the better to look to slow fix I think the slow fixes first figuring out what it is that what area of life it is or what particular situation is that you want to improve your executive function or how you use it and understand more about that situation like how much does it really matter to you what can you do to make it matter more to you and go from there like you example I use to smoke hand are like I was a cut down a lot of is very low hard to let go of that last cigarette and like there was one cigarette have before I went to bed and I was really hard and we just could not do it but I moved to a new apartment and there was no smoking allowed and I live in Canada is very cold in the winter this is not one of those people who's gonna go outside to have cigarettes and that was it there was it I never smoked again sounds like the environment will support you in using your executive function you'll still need to use it you still need to use conscious control but it's so much of how we function in the world depends on what matters to us and like what how well we.

"When you when you're kind of alone than for me, the definition of how you work with a team. And how how important it is to really be be inside and really understand everything in order to run then give the right direction or find the right questions, which is also very an even more obviously than find the right answers to those questions fitness level. I also saying that Michael clearly defined that if you look at these young drivers, they all superfit, and and I think he defined the role of all the role model of modern from Lewan driver. How obsessed with fitness was. I mean, we hear that he was super fit. But was in the gym the whole time a bit like Ronaldo the football player is currently he was clearly in the gym every day. I mean, not obviously not all the time. But he would he would train every day. And he was. I'm yeah. I don't know if you call that obsessed, but he also liked it. You know? I mean, of course, sometimes the the neck machine, he hated it sometimes because that's purely and really boring, but he lacked a lot of other sports. So he he'll he left that. And but he was clearly it was daily routine and for him, really important. But also, I think also important in terms of still Formula one driving at that time on you had to drive so much was also really draining, you know, for the body. But is fantastic. Thank you, very spring. That was a lovely. What fabulous insights from Sabine? The take home message for me is that while Michael might have come across as an automated when he was racing. There was always a caring and conscientious sides him that we the fans didn't always get to say when he was in his pump. Thank you Sabine for being so open that was a fascinating Chan and keep fighting Michael all thoughts are with.

"Yeah dark saber i like it i'm not super some people seem to be a bit bigger on than i am oftentimes i think people have talked about like the big twenty point characters you know if it's on them it suddenly becomes a four and five side which is crazy but you still have to build up to that forty sources and yet has redeploy but when it readable is down to a ten or nine point character than it says the tuna three and it's still super good but you're not getting your max value out of it so i like it a lot i think it there's gotta be some deck that can fit it in where it's like fifteen fifteen point deck both actors fifteen points and i think it will have room there i'm not super sold on it i think you'll see play because why not but it does kinda stink i guess maybe maybe it doesn't stink in in your opinion chip but the fact this can't be great with sabine much it's twenty point she could buy because it does ambush yeah told me back yeah the cheating the action cheating that you really liked to do indicate breaking the game i'll put it in this in and then never got to you'd be all set that card so who do you think they're intent is it boca town that they're intending to use it what was there do you think what was it who's on the card by the way that is being oh okay yes is from one of the episodes rebels she ends up getting the dark n in training with it and stuff like that.

"Still hold onto the extra two i guess ns because my fiancee would play with me sometimes so sometimes she would try to steal my cards but i needed extra should try to steal your car she's trying to take them in hide them yeah probably but like i mean i don't know if there's ever going to be a time in my life where i need my place of dark advisors let alone four more maybe at the those characters are just like five one okay all right i'm gonna throw some care to jack if you got a few more minutes i'm gonna throw some characters that i just feel now my my what was the car that i thought was going to break the meta and it was wrong what is it i don't even remember the name of the card that's sad rebel trader that didn't work but i'm gonna give you that was just a warmup here's the character characters that i think have something like to be discovered right low but what do you think about but i actually in in world's testing i was running him single die with sabine a lot do like low body i think there's i obviously ended up thinking that two of ezra was better right but low bots guardian ability with a fast deck is awesome you know he's got a focus and he's got that special which is pretty good and you know i was running it with yellow did let me play impulsive if i wanted to play but i do think he's he's pretty good for ten thirteen and especially single dia tan yeah for nine health and guardian i think he's a pretty salt thing and you know he gives you access to leadership while having guardian which i don't i don't know if there's any other guardians do that i don't be for read well they're i guess there's obi wan the original right but he's blue but i don't think there's any red unique characters have leadership.

"Especially early game but i still stand by that decision but it was it was tough at times because unless the being roles hot really don't think you have too much of a chance winning that game but yes so i just went for i feel like that was the right decision because like i said i'll still resources and ultimately it's kinda tough unless sabine rrules hot simply because if i do three or four damage than he has things like caution or you can take shields with iota and it's tough to because when you look at his nice across the table from you you kind of have to assume that they're all max damage simply because of iota you know he'll be able to special into a double focus into here's you know eight more damage that you weren't expecting so just got gotta tough with a rookie having a plus two as ravin plus two and you know whatever upgraded has out there so it's relatively easy for him to get to you know eight to ten damage fairly quickly and i was just too much for me to to handle even mitigating feud is playing easy pickings as as blown off pretty quickly into being died shortly after that both games i think i only killed as down one health one game and killed as put a few on iota the next game so it was definitely a tough matchup in a kind of knew that going into it but i was expecting to be a little bit closer but bad matchup in great pilot means bad stories for me yeah for sure but i mean again in all seriousness that is incredible as rooting for you every step of the way and it's it's so awesome that that happened and i wanna know future now where do you where do you go from here and where do you think things are the game destiny goes but before i do that you know part of the the gripe that people have i think with the deck with sabine azra is that it can just be so explosive so quick and with cards like running interference and never in the odds like it doesn't give your your opponent chance to to really do anything and play with that what what do you think i mean what's the secret to when you line up against that debt for players like listen to our podcast who are competitive more casual.
