"Played 6 games. And our last dude checking in is a second rounder for the wizards, witt cretti. Who is now ten games in, which is Oklahoma City. I'm just trying to help you in case you land on a thunder game. That's all I'm doing there. All right, final point here. G league numbers. I've tried to help with this before. I'm going to keep trying. So I say Thomas is back to the league Charlotte, got ten points last night good for him. Never rooting against Isaiah Thomas, just think people kind of overstate it a little bit with him and that Celtic here. It was a great year it was fun for the fans of all that stuff. They ran single high pick and roll. Every position, for the entire season. And he was awesome. great. And they made it to these circumference finals. But whenever I see somebody promote G league numbers and it'll kind of be like, you know, look at what this guy was doing. This is incredible. Have you paid attention to G league scoring numbers ever? Now the answer is probably no. You just see a league pass broadcast and they talk about their first round pick and that he had 86 the other day. And I know you're kidding. Nick stauskas had 57 two nights ago. All right, I'm gonna go through the top ten scores in the G league so far this season. Sabin Lee 27 a game, Justin Anderson, 2070 game, Craig Randall the second 26 a game. Mason Jones 26 a game. Carson Edwards, 26 a game. 6th and scoring. Query, weather spoon, Santa Cruz warriors. Get you 25 a game. Trevor and Queen 25 a game Justin Tillman 24 game and then Justin Jackson, who is a familiar name. For the Texas legends, he's tenth in scoring in the G league 24 game. The next time you're watching league pass and they put up a graphic of the first or second rounder and then what he's doing and then they go back to the announcer and be like, man, this is, this is incredible. Gabe York had 40 last night. How come that guy's not in the league? I just told you why he's not. FanDuel sportsbook is an official sports betting partner of the NBA and with FanDuel same game parlays you can turn little bets into big paydays. Let's take a look at one game here. Did you watch the Lakers against pelicans in the night? Not great, bob. So Lakers at home getting 5 and a half against Dallas. That looks like an absolute shutdown by the Lakers. So if we were tempted to play aside here, I think Dallas -5 and a half and also Dallas is playing better. And by the way, have you checked in on Lucas numbers recently? Luca, this month, or as you finishing up February, so we're done with February now. 35 a game, ten and 9. You shooting 41% from three 46 overall. And that's after really not making shots three of the previous four months. So it feels like Luca's in shape and gearing up. So if you're looking at opposing directions as far as momentum for two basketball teams, that might be one to look at, you can look at the player points right now. Luca is over under 31 and a half. The score 40 points plus Lucas four 30 payout. And there's rebound stuff. You can look at three. So there's a lot of options, as we know, because that's because the same big par laser fan who will have a million options for you to get in on the action. That's why FanDuel is America's number one sportsbook. It's easy to use safe and secure with payouts and as little as two hours. "Come off the bench just trying to move everyone to the bench right now. You're demoting everybody would help people. Most people need to take to say that my counter question to you would be why like you get one hundred possessions ish in an nba game is. They're really not room for two young guys to eat on a team that doesn't have an entrenched star. Who's just gonna take up all the space so it honestly becomes more of an existential or philosophical question. Because it's do you wanna give cade cunningham the ball which is probably he's going to do full-time and probably what he's best at or do you want to spend some time. Give him some different looks. Play him off ball hope he develops that end of things. And then you can see what you have more with killing. I think that is the answer. But i also think that's just as easy as saying like just give capable all right because there are a lot of possessions. Yes but they're saying like those are the only two guards they have may also have young guys who they're gonna wanna get into the mix frank jackson Sabin lee those type of guys while like they don't rise the priority of l. hayes or cunningham like you need to play other guys and so i do think like it's going to be a little bit of choice at least at some point like if they get a crunch time situations like what do you do do you blame together for instance. Yeah there definitely could be games where you now. Killing hayes is not on the court in crunch time. That's a that's a pretty easy thing to imagine. But i think the appeal of his game is that he can do stuff with the ball and he can defend and he can potentially if you know facilitate do some of this other stuff to his shot needs to come around if he's going to be a an off ball player next to cunningham but i think both of them are flexible enough. The you at least want to see what you've got and see if this is a real back court versus kate cunningham and his sidekick. Yeah i it's one of those things where somebody tells you really really want this thing and you know it's not gonna work out for them but you just do it anyway so that they could see it for themselves. Sometimes you know you just have to do the things so that it's on tape for everybody. You see like look see. We tried it. And it's not gonna work. That's what i think the killian as as ball handler possession. Soaker picking and roll initiator. That ain't gonna work. You're you're alluding to the de'andre jordan steve. Nash is gonna start jordan. Exactly exactly the same exact thing because i. I don't know what proof we have again of. Killian hayes showing himself to be this ball handling survive. He's just not shown that at all but at the same time. What's the point of not doing it. This season This is going to be another developmental season. And so you know. Give them ball. Let's see what he has to see. What type of juicy as But at the same time you know. I think there's something to development of a culture around the team and you can only give so many minutes to a guy in a position that he doesn't deserve before it becomes all right. What are we doing here. Right what's acceptable on the court. Like are we just gonna let guys be bad what we've asked them to do and still continue to get them minutes and opportunities. I think that's a delicate balance for a young team when it comes to development and developing could actual habits good accepted practices as far as our. This earns you minutes. This is what we deem the be success on this team and success being like actual production right..

"All right, we're up on the team, the James covers the Detroit Pistons. They drafted Kate Cunningham, as well as Isaiah livers Luca Garza and basha, copra vizza. Oh boy. They signed Kelly Olynyk to a three year $37 million deal. They signed Cory Joseph to a two year $10 million deal they resigned hamadou Diallo to a two year $10 million deal. They signed Frank Jackson to a two year $6 million deal, they signed Trey lyles to a minimum contract. The sign Sabin Lee two or three year deal, they signed Rodney magruder to a minimum deal and they traded mason plumlee to get off of his contract. Using the 37th overall pick and bringing back that deer sweet balls of copra Vita pick. James, did I miss anything there? They had a busy off season. No, you got everything. Yeah, Troy went into the off season telling us that he was just going to bring back his players and that's what he did. I mean, I absolutely Olynyk wasn't, but other than that, everybody else was entree, everybody else was on the roster last year. So this is weird insofar as they made a lot of moves. And they got their centerpiece, right? But like, it's a very consequential off season because they got cade Cunningham and because like they now have their key building block. I don't know that it was like a particularly interesting off season to talk about. Like it was just a smart off season for Detroit, I thought. They handled their business. I think the big thing with Detroit and I mean, they've always kind of thrown out bits and pieces of this happening and that this was going to how it was. This is how it would play out. Their eyes are on next year's free agency. And the year after that, they have Blake's money comes off the books after this year. They have a ton of cap space. I think what was important for them was getting a lot of luck and getting that centerpiece. Using this year as another development year to get him adjusted, Sadiq, Isaiah kilian..

"I just can't get over. I chose to take money. Like i think certainly certainly but still it still very surprising but what you know to be the biggest the biggest one. Which is they so true. Weaver used the thirty seven. Th pick to offload the final fully guaranteed season for mason plumlee and then pretty much used that flexibility plus some of the other flexibility to sign. Kelly winnick to two years. Twenty five million fully guaranteed partial guarantee for the third year. And i'm fine with kelly link. I think that he is a good fit to kind of unlock. Some of the myriad ball handlers the pistons have at this point between cade and killian hayes and they brought back cory joseph and diablo. sometimes in o'casey had the in september detroit at the ball in his hands. Like all these different things. And i should mention saving lee who they retained as well so they have a lotta guys and so having somebody who can space the four who can be a part of actions or not is good for them but it also can be. You're gonna play him. I guess some at the four next isaiah stuart summit the five like it's it's not the most it's not a terrible signing especially with only two guaranteed years. But it's like okay you gave up. You gave up a pick to offload a bad contract. You signed for somebody who didn't really move the needle that much for you and you send somebody who is a slightly better fit but still not that much better. Yes he will help of these young guys with the spacing and particularly. If you've got these guys. Like josh jackson and sabin lee am hamadu diallo. Even germany grant some degree. Just help these guys look better and develop a little bit to have a stretch for Search five and maybe even for like olympic and. Yeah that last year. Being non-guaranteed is decent. They had to go a little higher on him because he probably it offers at the mid level. You would think. But i and they still do have even with him. Forty four million cap space next year before you count. They're likely extremely high draft. Pick so call it more like thirty five million in space in the end but so that's plenty to do what they need to do. And that obviously accounts for core joseph opting in as well. I still never know what the hell the overall plan is with these guys. There's a lot of deckchair shuffling it like the plumlee thing. That just doesn't really seem to lead anywhere in the enemy like olympic for them better than plumlee but he seemed like he was fine. And so i don't know i. It seems like a and getting cade was the biggest thing. But i don't give them much credit so i guess i don't see minus. I gave them a c. minus and kate cunningham. I thought he was the number one pick but take getting getting the lottery. Luck and taking the right player is it. Was you get a little bit more of a bonus right now but also you have more downside risk because this is a year where it's possible that the number two guy is better. I don't think so. I think it's going to be the best player in this glass but like you know it's not only had to take anthony davis so even somehow he had worked out. You get the full benefit there like. There's a chance that they made the wrong. I don't i don't see it that way. But let's go to the cleveland cavaliers. The team that fell to the third pick in the draft. They took evan bubbly over suggs sky. Barnes and everybody else. They also traded taurean prince and washington's twenty two seconds for ricky rubio and they retain jared allen on a five year one hundred million dollar contract and again when he makes very few moves that puts more pressure on the ones that they did make. And there's also one that i considered and this part of why i gave them a lower grade thinks that some would think i'm fine with the mobile beck. I had you know. I think it's totally reasonable. I gave them a d plus and a part of it is the move that they so far haven't made which is i don't know what the hell they're doing clarinets and so it all kind of fit together where yeah i. The rubio deal is total. The rubio deal for them. Giving up a second to ask a guard who makes sense in your rotation. By all means he makes more sense with taurean. Prince inevitably totally find pick. But you on top of that. You gave jared allen. You negotiated against yourself. I don't know who in the world. Well first of all nobody else could offer a fifth year. But i have no idea who was offering him anything. Close to twenty million like rashawn homes. Who is a better player than alan last year. I don't expect that to be the case. Moving forward necessarily rashad homes like he took the early bird with the kings. He did get a player option on the last year so why they had to go this far out. It just seems like it's another off. I think that's part of why moved down. I was at his in the c range. Because why the hell did you do this again at a guy who if you look at what centers are getting paid or on the league. Just doesn't seem to be to have the upside particularly on offense. It may be. He gets there defensively He does have some the physical tools with the big wingspan and pretty quick feet so athleticism but he. He hasn't shown that level of defensive accurate and so far. I think for the guys who really get there. You see it by this point in time and see i mean that. Seems like a very very huge contract that he just as jared allen has not proven it at that type of a level you know the prints for rubio trade. I mean i guess they needed someone who could pass to be there. Matthew delving tova eme playback gardez that okay fit was sexton. Because he's a little more size he could set him up. Prince wasn't going to be part of their rotation. Is that worth giving up the washington seconds. Wayne twenty two and paying four million. Yeah probably i guess so that that seems like about a fair trade. So that's fine a mobely. I don't really give him any credit there that was like the fate accompli pick at that point in time because i mean i thought i thought there was a chance they could take sangster barnes. I will done it but they could. Well that's another reason. Why this huge commitment to allen. I thought was so ridiculous. That evan mobile as the center. And i think he showed that very affirmatively in severally or at least maybe not a senator now because he's too thin but that that will be his best position..

"I moved them up significantly I mean they were getting all sorts of comedy for the dead bin thing in the stretch of that still looks terrible right. They traded for. Dwayne dead ben basically because he had a non-guaranteed left year left on his contract ended up stretching him essentially so they could sign mason poem they could have signed jeremy grant anyway a to the contract that he got a they signed plumlee. Now publi actually played better than expected but not well enough that they didn't have to move down from thirty seven fifty seven in the draft to dump him this year and then signed kelly olympic was another the that seems kind of deckchairs though he's a different type of player than than plumlee but the grant thing was people didn't get that at all but he looked a lot better. Maybe that's overstated a little bit. He really fell off towards the end of the year was he wanted to do a lot. Maybe ended up doing a little bit too much. You know you kind of really dropped down to league average. Maybe a little bit below in terms of his efficiency by the end of what else did they do. Well we we talk a little bit more about german grant. I mean grant chose them over the nuggets. Three years sixty million. I was very low on that. I thought it was you know like why are you giving him the keys. And he did better. I mean not as well as the early start of the year when he was setting the role of fire. But i thought i thought that he ended up with a solid season overall. They dumped functionally. They dumped the way the christian would think ended up happening is that they let him go but then got Back in that as a sign and trade and got the sixteenth pick their which is how they drafted isaiah stuart day. They also included this weird lottery protected. First able maybe convey at some point eventually will also gave up a future protected. Pick that goes out like as far as possible in that guest in that deal for a sixteen as well they also got involved in that complicated trade with the nets andy clippers. Were they sent. Luke kennard and bruce brown to different locations and four second round picks but they got back the number nineteen pick which troy weaver used on city bay. They also got the. I believe they got thirty. Eight four taking on tony bradley who the hidden dumped for zaire smith so they could stretch him because true we have stretching with sabin lee right. Save unle- pretty good for for that spot. Yeah and they retained spe- michaela who they eventually traded for hundred yellow. And and then the other big thing just to make sure that we have put a bone is that they hire. We've and so the regreat here's including all of that stuff. And this is one of the bigger adjustments i've made i moved this from an f to an a minus your part of why we gave them an offer. At least i did was because they brought in weaver and weaver looked like he didn't know what he was doing. And i still think there are some errors. They're like leading christian would go when they could just paid him was one thing that didn't make sense to me now worth noting that being bad last year got them kate cunningham so but they didn't well we've argued about well. I mean they're party line. You're like james. Edwards was reported on this that they did not expect to be good last. They weren't really trying to. And but i mean the mason plumlee contractors just so. It's so chris. If that was. In retrospect that was the one thing that was pretty indefensible. But everything else. I think worked out reasonably well stewart at six. The speed killian hayes. We'll have i shouldn't say everything. Because the i hit hayes hayes not look good at least in the seventy games that i've seen we. We haven't done all of our film work on that yet but he was does not look like a good fit with Kate cunningham Yibing we said this and also keep in mind that that stretches still on the books to from deadman so they essentially replaying paying plumbly. The amount that edmund would have been only had one year like deadman prior actually would have been better for them last year then plumlee honestly or at least as good thank. You would have been better defense. Wd played well for the heat. And you wouldn't have had to dump you and had to his contract in the way that they did for plumlee. But i think the big biggest reason why this moved up for me beyond thinking better of troy weaver and i mean this is all tied in is that i mean isaiah stuart at sixteen looking good sadique bay at one thousand nine is looking great saving li like it thirty eight know. I think he can be a be a bench guard for them. And that's really good. You know to be able to get that kind of value through the draft and yeah. I still don't love the way that they gave up on. Bruce brown those four seconds especially with the idea that you can buy ended up being bad like and maybe the you expect to be like those seconds are actually pretty valuable. And i mean those are strewn throughout the league. now. But i'm they were originally with the clippers I think now they're two of them. Were with the knicks and then one of the magic because those developers just did a bunch of stuff. And let's see on sunny bay to like it's possible that he might be like a little bit overrated right now. I think that's possible We'll see what his ceiling ends up being. I'm not saying it's not a good pick right. Obviously but also danny. We're going to have to move down to an african because They signed to a two year guaranteed contract predate weaver. Yeah i mean. They took him thirty seven th year before i think but nonetheless that's what they actually saw him so it's part of that offseason back in a b minus and let's move on now to the indiana pacers. This won't take long no another team. That did extremely little. They didn't have their first round. Pick so kevin pritchard cash stanley fifty four. That was the role selection. They.

"Add to that is i've been to the album. Oh does that count for anything. Yeah take off. Your children go on field trips to the hour. We'll tell you this i was. I was in san antonio for speech. I just flew in and it was only there for a couple of hours and on the way back We had a little bit of time. The guy says or anything you want to see it go well. What do you have in san antonio. And he says the alamo should. Let's go and i was. I say this. I was somewhat flippant about it because i didn't under- and all of a sudden this guy was about to talk me out of the car. I did not understand the the religious experience it was that the gravitational pull of the alamo to texans. Yes i mean are very. They are educated in their history. So they appreciate it and They are great fans. It is just a delight to go with our grandchildren to a game and hear them. Sing is of texas are upon you and to know every every cheer in every song and everything it's just they just do a greater education job but i you know have been part i'm in my seventies so we and my family had My dad had season family tickets to the lsu football game. I was there on the october night. And watch the billy cannon run and yes. That was impressed me. The most was that a gaming oxygen when he got endzone anyway. So i spent a year in louisiana and covered lsu. And that's all i ever heard about and i finally got a chance to interview Billy candid about it. And that's not much has happened. Since then but i don't think anything will ever top that your great great and you know we there. I don't ever remember not being at an lsu football game my dad. He started taking us when we were in elementary school. And it was a great tradition and You know but i do think that texas and oklahoma are just going to add more to the sec. And it'll just be exciting and a great experience and my kids in austin. Just say everybody is talking about it. Everybody is talking about it and very excited. I have to say i. i agree with that. And i'm not an austin. But i can't wait to to be there and it is one of the most exciting things that i've ever encountered in in covering the sec. Which which is just a slight chunk of time over the years Well thank you for sharing that. That is fantastic. Well it's a pleasure. We really love your show. And i just wish i could get that song out of my head. I know hard when my favorite part i know my wife told me some of her Friends she will say that. It's not it's not the adults. It's the kids that are singing it. That really brings a that makes my heart. Warm so Let's hope we'll be amended by the way when we get the official word i know you in texas. Yeah so we we. We thought he's got to redo the song he's going to have to add some parts but in a way it's wonderful. I appreciate it but what they call. Wow that is really cool Being in tiger stadium the night of the halloween. Run by billy cannon. That's pretty remarkable. Let's check out john. You're on the air. Hello john if i'm hey look i get absolutely sick listening to you every day taco bell. I mean i listen to the radio. And i had to call in. I'm so sick of this. Listen to this. You wanna talk about it. Everybody always caller wanna talk about great gas. Sec is football. Not trying to say they don't have a great comfort are good concerts. Good alabama. i thought we want to go back and discuss how great they've been go back five years ten years for you want to go back to. He thirty about four centuries. I mean the. Sec's been running this four. Seven hundred seventy six. Let's let's go back four centuries in go back yet. You wanna do that. My point is look. Mid savings back is broke. He is carried the sec. Now ever since he's been in the conference so when nick sabin lee. What's going to happen. The only team timmy. Finebaum you'll talk about. How great the comforted arkansas. Oh man specifically state landy. Missouri carolina tennessee kentucky. Think about those teams. They're very average at best. They go to another conference. Mike's play a little better than five hundred. Maybe i doubt it. Then you got you who else a championship. You don't have nobody. Don't get ten years. You've got our alabama is the only team with a championship other lsu. So what are you talking about this. One thing alabama a nick sabin this here what you got to say well well. That's not exactly true You well. I'll try to answer this. Extend that time period a little bit auburn won a national championship in ocean. Unless you won a national championship expanding. She won another championship in three of florida. Won a couple of national championships in the last fifteen or twenty years. So you're you're being very selective timeframe memorial through the story is the more to the story. Is you need to straighten all these teams out. Arkansas mistake vandy. Carolina missouri tennessee kentucky. I name models for sure. What about what about the teams. That aren't so we like like texas them last. You're finishing fourth in the country. Florida was in the top. Ten georgia anything texas then teams. Not named. they've never done anything. My point is is all those other teams won't wanna tag along on alabama's coat tail and that they play like alabama when you mention this see see that's not right. Dude delaware off beijing wake up and realize it led ole miss or kentucky. Something put their place something big ten schools in the cold weather a name play their schedule every year. You see you john. Let me break it to you. They don't have to because they're in the sec. Dan take came. Quite though you sit around and try to bring more people into believing they don't trying to say i don't need to brainwash anyone it's a fact. The sec is the best and yeah. I mean there's no getting around nick. Sabin has won six national championships since at alabama since two thousand and nine but you know there have been a lot of great great football programs in this leaks i would. I'm really curious about. And what i'm really worried about is why you're so why are you. Why are you so angry. i make over. Tell me who are they. Just georgia's one. What one national championship. Hitler history. I know part of what a couple of now. Say they'll try to make all these teams to be. We know nobody is trying to be all. We're trying to say is the addition of these two has just further enhanced. The sec's reputation as by the way. That's not opinion everyone that i've spoken to with one exception. And you know who that one exception is. I didn't mention those two teams. You are literally the only person i have run into. Who doesn't buy into this. What are you talking. Who is in this see. I didn't know somebody's. Sec this year by nazi name. Who you talking about. Texas and oklahoma soon which john. We're not talking about this year. We're talking about the addition of texas and oklahoma down the road man. We might not live tomorrow but memorial. Jesus by the way i can talk you can talk the more to. The story is alabama nick savings. Back his broke. I'm going to get off the land interesting. Things are following alabama rails. Let him go per play. Ohio state all teams ohio state of every everyone of them and probably go from alabama. Where it's all said and done when say is definitely savings banks.

"Well, if you imagine in this game Kentucky dominated pretty much every category, including points in the paint. Can't thirty to Vanderbilt twelve on points in the paint in an eighty seven fifty two cats victory. Vanderbilt led in scoring by Sabin Lee with fifteen points. He was four for nine from the field one for three from three six for nine from the line. He was also tied for the lead in rebounding. Or actually he was second in rebounding is semi Shittu had six five assists three turnovers. Saving played thirty eight minutes. Tim, it's pretty clear to me. At least the way this thing is going right now Bryce drew was kind of at a point where he can't not play saving savings got to be on the court almost all the time and and air knee Smith. Those are the guys that are are bringing it. And you know, you got to be in a situation where yet you gotta almost play those guys forty minute Naismith played thirty eight minutes tonight as well. He was five for nine four for six from three point range, fourteen points, three rebounds, three assists. He did have three turnovers in his thirty eight minutes of play the other Commodore double figures was Matt Ryan he made four three pointers in the second half. He was four for nine twelve points. No assist, man. Had four turnovers where the turnover issue. Yeah. Tim twenty turnovers for this team. And and Kentucky's a solid defensive team. There's no question about that. But some of these turnovers were just for lack of a better word either careless or lackadaisical. Yeah. The. The one thing our margin of error is very slim, and when you talk about twenty turnovers, and they get twenty four points off those turnovers, you we don't have the personnel to win basketball games when that happens, and we have to do a much better job of taking care of the basketball. If we're going to win games, Johnny Wetzel five points tonight, no rebounds. He had played fifteen minutes and found out of the game three points for Matthew Moyer. He also had three rebounds at thirteen minutes. Three points, four rebounds for Cleveland Brown and the stat line that just screams at you. Tim is semi Sola Shittu over five from the field over one point range old for two from the free throw line. No points, six rebounds, one assist four turnovers in twenty nine minutes as just not getting done. You can't win. You can't be in a situation where you know, he he has that stat line in any place twenty nine minutes. That's it's really really difficult. Bet a player of that caliber just doesn't give you anything against a, you know, a a high caliber team, and if that's his stat line against a team like Kentucky, we have no chance zero chance and got to be frustrating too. For the senior Joe toy, you know, from Chicago only played he played sixteen minutes tonight. But he was over two from the field. No points. One rebound. No assists one turnover and sixteen minutes of play. Just that's and this is a guy that when this year began was scoring perimeter. I mean, he was aggressive. He was doing things offensively right now. Just not getting anything. You're not getting anything out of Joe, and he's a senior. And you know, he's one of those guys that is experienced, and you would hope that you'd get some some production out of him. But you're you're just not Maxwell Evans. Played nine minutes. Tonight. Did not score had one rebound and Vanderbilt's. Fifty two points Kentucky led in scoring by PJ. Washington. D was excellent twenty-six points. Nine of fifteen from the field hit all three of his three pointers. He also had twelve. Rebounds is six double double of the season. A couple of cysts three steals in twenty nine minutes of play. Also in double figures, Nick Richards, who kind of really kind of in garbage time if you will kind of to that through a couple of them in the second half, he had fourteen points and four blocked shots in nineteen minutes of play twelve points for Tyler hero who was six of thirteen from the field. Kelvin Johnson had eleven points for the cats seven points, six rebounds for Ashton Hagans. He had eight assists and one turnover in thirty minutes. I mean, he is he is the guy that I think has taken Kentucky to the next level. He was the guy that settled down has become he's been he's the guy that drives this offense. I mean, he he drives the offense. But at the same time he is also a really really good defensive player. And you know, you talk about eighty seven points, but Kentucky has become a really solid defensive team. No question about that is Hagans with seven points, six rebounds eight. Assists on the night six points for Emmanuel quickly six points. Jamal Baker four points for EJ Montgomery one point for re Travis that's another thing. Here's here's the kid. Two time. First team all conference in the Pac twelve they get one point out of him tonight didn't matter. I mean, that's the that to me is the sign of a good team. When you have a star player that doesn't have a good night. And you're still find a way to play the well star player one of your starters. And you still have four four players in double figures. Yeah. John Calipari a lot of credit. He's he's gotten his team to a point where they're playing at a really really high level. They're executing at both ends of the floor in it appears to me that their daily really really like playing one thing. So so now for Vanderbilt on the road, Missouri on Saturday seven thirty what does Bryce drew do? Now, given what we saw tonight. Oh, you gotta try to prepare play one game at a time. You can't think anything beyond the tip in Columbia, Missouri. And for those forty minutes, you you better bring it or you're going to continue to get drummed. And if you don't. You know, what the outcome's going to be an every player every coach everybody has to be in a situation where they're laser focused on that game only. And then when games over the next one, and you know, I think that that's the mentality that you really got to focus on that forty minutes of play in Columbia that game is seven thirty on Saturday night are broadcast begins with Papa John's pregame show starting at seven from Columbia, Missouri. My thanks to Tim Thompson has always likes to Mike Colter. Mike sue come back and wrap things up for you from.

"A tough -able with where the defense was kicked it out right away. He took care of his teammate abandoned quickly. It's usually way to beat the double team, and they get it out quick. Yup. Absolutely. I ns outs. Boyer back. Yeah. Quickly looking for a three point play the old-fashioned way. Twelve which is faded the Lexington. ES six now he hits the free throw Kentucky has its largest lead at sixty two twenty eight fourteen five to play. Toy at the top of the circle for Vanderbilt by Montgomery's picked up his dribble gives it over to Lee Lee, jab steps thrives on Baker gets to the rim. And as he tried to look past was fouled. They're gonna give us too quickly. His second team third. Go back to that passing out. Now, the low post to effectively do you give the ball up because you understand your teammate will get it back to you sometime along down the road you have to trust each other. Here's the top of the circle gets into the paint that feeds it off the brass the flooded by Richard Brown. Chases down throws at the lead. Ten seconds to shoot Lee drives buys man gets into the link goes for the dunk it's blocked by Richards. But they're going to call Nick four foul. His second team fourth two shots coming for saving Lee. You like the bravado of Saint Louis, but come on. Vic seven foot score over him. But he was going with a two hand flush. Yes, he was. Lease at the line. He's made two of three and now three or four is twelve points to lead baby. Hero in Kentucky. Hagan's jugs to the bitch. Heavens for Vanderbilt Shittu has been limited in his minutes and limited in his production. Tom, and here's a guy that everybody in the country wanted out of high school averages thirteen game scoreless. Tonight's the second one in and out. No, good EJ. Montgomery lost the rebound about gotta be stronger. They got a little bump for Moyer and that caused him to lose the ball. You said it all. Eighteen thirty five to play surveying. These ball down the left baseline. Lease next the ball of his players around that he gets it to Evans in the left corner. Takes it out front now Lee comes to take the handoff sixty two twenty nine Kentucky. Top of the circle guarded by Baker crossover dribble and a foul of Baker. Tough match-up for Jamal Baker out there without any help. Because Lee go left, right. Just like the balls on a string in alley so fast. Hesitation move. Any can knock down the jump shots. So you back off of him and playing for the drive. He can't shoot the jumping five team fouls. Now in Kentucky. That was the second Jamal Baker. Thirteen twenty to play in a game. As Lee comes out front rebels left hands at the niece Smith. Evans comes out to get it for baby, Shaq blocks at ten right side. He goes to Lee Lee drives into the paint. Cutoff shovel pass out to niece. Smith driving right baseline following shot. Over hero comes up short picked up put up by Shittu blocked, by Richards quickly. Got it for Kentucky. Nice play by Nick Richards for a man as big as he is. He does not want to go strong to the rim at finished with a dunk. He wants to go ball. I I don't understand it quickly. Got it on the point four kids sucky as we hit the twelve forty five Bart starts to his right cutoff. So he goes left comes back to his right walks. It over to the wing gives it up the heroes seven seconds to shoot out to Montgomery five because it back the hero at four zero foul by niece myth is he tried to turn the corner and your coach drew you get a really be frustrated that you to go deep in the shot clock. And then just an inconsequential foul by being a little too. Lazy to move for man. Second coaches nuts. I can understand why sixty two twenty nine Kentucky. You play defense for thirty six for twenty five seconds. Pops out to get it hands. It back to hero. Curls into the paint. Can't get a shot house passed McGovern right hand hook shot. Just ahead of the shot clock buzzers. No good. And they say, it's a fact lock violation core Kentucky. So that'll go as a turnover for the Wildcats. And it's just their third one of the night. I'm not so sure EJ really understood. We're that shot clock was. Yeah. Sixty two twenty nine cats Sabe Lee works it up against quickly Lee comes less than passes back right to Shittu gets into the lane over to decide on the left side, jump stop at the paint hits a ten footer. Shittu? He's got to put this on his shoulders try to finish up. Those places said a look at the pass your down by thirty points. Thirty one points quickly, double teamed up front keeps his dribble stays out of the trip gets it over to he wrote hero into the paint. Follow a ten footer comes up short rebounded by Montgomery goes back up and scores. All right. He Jay under the basket chasing the shot. I like that. Sixty four thirty one Kentucky. Or field goal of the night for Montgomery's got four points. Shittu dribbles to his right hands it to Evans. Curls into the paint. Runs into Richardson. Throws. It two hero Kentucky on our run app. Hero down the right side gets into the lane flips it in. Just a careless pass off now dander bills park. Biggest lead of the night for Kentucky at sixty six thirty one as we come down to eleven minutes to play in the game. Sabin Lee takes it down the left sideline and passes out front. The Shittu around. The Moyer Lee comes to get it Lee drives down the lane shot blocked by Montgomery picked up by Shittu. And he's fouled. Techy defended that well, just a good break for bandies. It felt right to should. He went for the bucket Annabel's called beggar. His third team six times ten forty nine to play all kept talking here at memorial. Gym Kentucky, sixty six vandy thirty one other UK sportscenter. When you're out recruiting in Email or tax doesn't always cut it. Sometimes you.

"Well, it was quite a battle in the paint tonight. Tennessee ended up winning the points in the paint. Forty two to thirty four Tennessee also ends up winning this game in overtime by a final score of eighty eight to eighty three. Folks, we're talking about this for a long time individually three four players in double figures for the Commodores led by Aaron knee Smith. I think one of his best games as a Commodore twenty four points. He was nine of fifteen from the field of seven from three. He had six rebounds. He played forty two minutes had to block shots, including a huge one. Yeah. Down the stretch. The kept the game within reach in forty two minutes of play and Sabin Lee. Right with him twenty one points three of five from three point range, again eight of thirteen from the line, and you, you know, what's on his mind to maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe it's on their mind a little bit too much in a game. Like this free throws are such a key. But saving played forty two minutes. Tim at twenty one points, four rebounds, seven assists and two turnovers and forty two minutes. I thought he was unbelievable. And the one thing you really like is he was three for five from three point line. He jumped up and he shot the ball with confidence from a three point line. We could just get that confidence to to the free throw line twelve points for Matt Ryan made a couple of big. Three pointers tonight. He was two for five from three point range couple of rebounds in twenty six minutes and ten points for semi issue to played a majority at certainly the second half and the overtime with four fouls. Never picked up the last one. He had ten points six rebounds on five eleven shooting yet four assist. He also had four turnovers, but three of those I think we're pretty early after things settled down things got much better. Yanni Wetzel found out tonight four points, three rebounds in twenty five minutes of play two assists. No turnovers for him. Matthew, more two points, four rebounds and a steal and fourteen minutes. Five points for Joe toy in fifteen minutes of play five points for Cleveland Brown. Cleveland turn the ball over three times. He had a block shot. He played twenty three minutes. But Cleveland was forced when Wetzel fouled out in Simi was at foul. Trouble for a while. They just they basically had to go to Cleveland. And I thought he for the most part gave them some really good minutes. I really thought he he played. Well, the one thing that I that. I wish we could have had it. Had Yanni in the game a little bit longer defensively because you know, he's bigger he's longer and that kind of thing I thought he got a couple of calls early in the game when he just went straight up ficials make calls on. Yeah. Maxwell evans. Played three minutes tonight did not score as the Commodores score eighty three and overtime, Tennessee. I mean, what can you say grant Williams? I think locked up player of the week honors for his performance forty three points. He was ten or fifteen from the field and a school record. I was talking about canceling a moment ago. They've confirmed it is a school record Williams Twenty-three for twenty three from the free throw line. I think the previous record was Billy Justice who was here tonight. As a matter of fact, he was twenty two for three in what was previously the record? But I mean, what can you say thirty eight minutes Twenty-three for Twenty-three from the line forty three points, eight rebounds, two assists, three turnovers, four blocks and a steel, and as you said during the course of the broadcast, they basically the saddle on his back and rode him all the way to the finish line. You take him out of the equation. You know, and now all of a sudden it's a completely different basketball game. But you know, once again, you gotta you gotta give Rick Barnes a lot of credit. I mean, they they decided in the second half that grant Williams only had eight points at halftime. And they were going to ride him. They were you know, they took it inside to like three or four th the first four possessions. And I think he scored on two or three of those and he just kept. They just kept going to the only other volunteer. Double figures tonight was Jordan bone. He played a terrific game. I thought in thirty six minutes, the national native fourteen point five of ten from the field. Two of three thousand three two or three from Lyon a couple of rebounds, seven assists. No turnovers. He continues to be among the nation's leaders in assist turnover ratio in thirty six minutes, Admiral Scofield Commodores, Dan, I think's goldfield was probably the most frustrated volunteer tonight dealing with this new Vanderbilt offense because he was off balance in trouble all night long. He was at foul. Trouble finished with six points. Four rebounds on the night while he was two for nine. He was over six three point line. And he's usually a pretty good three point shooter six points as well for Kyle Alexander with five rebounds, three blocks shots on the night. Eight points l'amante Turner, he also had five assists and no turnovers in thirty three minutes of play nine points per Jordan bound made a couple of big shots for them. Would Vanderbilt would get on a bit of a rod. He had a couple of nice answers nine points and four rebounds, two points for Derrick Walker tonight e- ponds played did not score as did John. Ferguson again was in front of a sell-out fourteen thousand three hundred and sixteen. So before you Sarah final words from here at memorial gym. So what do you think? Tim. I think everybody around the country looks at this performance ahead of feeling rolling in my goodness. This as a chance to be a this a chance to be beat down know, depending on what they had seen before the rivalry aspect. Plays into it. The number one aspect plays. I get all that. How is being able to carry this over and cherry this forward for the rest of the season? Well, the one thing I think you have to do you got to get the coaches a lot of credit to put in a new offensive scheme that the players picked up pretty well. And they I thought they did a really good job. We've got some easy baskets that we hadn't been getting in the past it, you know, we in the past we've been doing more high ball screens. And that kind of thing, you know, now, we're entering the the the basketball the elbow, and then letting Yanni and letting semi you know, be able to distribute off the pass or cutting off of them curling off of them. And we got Matt Ryan some some open looks off this we've got underneath missed some open looks up this. And so, you know, you gotta get the coaches a lot of credit to to implement this thing. Over the last three or four days. And now it's up to the players and the coaches to build on this. You know, we're we're going to be on the road to Oklahoma on Friday and Oklahoma is a really really tough team. It's in Norman, but you hope that, you know, the the players in everyone can can build off this momentum that they show tonight. The game is in Norman Oklahoma on Saturday. It's a three PM central time. Tip off our broadcast will begin with the Papa John's pre-game show at two thirty. Well, the the final result was not what we wanted. But it sure was a fun night in the building. Oh, yeah. To have the energy to have everything that was going on. This is this is what this is what it should be. This is the way you hope that they find a way to continue this for the rest of the and again, you know, it's one of those deals where a bunch of guys stepped up and made plays. And you know, it's unfortunate you get into situation where in official jumps in and makes a call that really changes the trajectory of the game. And and that's the thing that you hate you want the players to decide what happens on the poor. So we'll be. From Norman Oklahoma on Saturday to thirty simple time. Start time of the pre game show three o'clock tip off with the Sooners from Oklahoma. Thanks partner. Always good to be with you here courtside. Tim Thompson, always great work here. It also might Colter back in the studio. Mike gonna come back and give you a final scoreboard update and wrap everything up from the studio. I'm Joe Fisher. Hope you enjoyed it tonight from memorial gym once again, the final score in overtime number one ranked Tennessee eight Vanderbilt Eighty-three..
