"And he was very involved in it on the defensive side. But of course Nick Sabin is a defensive guy. He's not by trade on offense guy, so does he look at it and go Kay while I can work around it. If I have a an inexperienced defensive play caller whereas on offense. It's not not something I wanna get into. I don't know the thought process behind that. But, you know, for some of the people, I've talked to remember, John shoop, who's some big ten remember North Carolina fan. He was the first person to hire gathered when he was on Butch Davis staff. He was North Carolina's offense coordinator. And he said, you know, there's the judgments as Joe Moorhead talked about, but he said in my first years offense, coordinator, I was with the bears and we went eleven and three in the NFL. He said, so, you know, it there's an adjustment. But you'd never know in the middle of it. But he goes, I and this is shoot words goes, I'm I bet that Michigan offense will not underachieve Josh Gad, as he was that bullish on, on this guy. So, so the reason for excitement at the very least now back to Michael's question or the way, I kind of framed it the two guys, I suspect will not be there in a couple of years in their at their current schools were on the opposite end of the spectrum. And that was Chris ash at Rutgers, who's got such an uphill battle there. And lovey Smith. It'll annoy I just I think two years, a long time when you're when you're struggling at that level. Yeah. I mean we could go through all the obvious hot coaches not Nami. though. Those guys end up, you know pulling it out. Nick Sabin, Dan Mullen. I think we'll both be there. You know, people waiting for saving the slowdown, it doesn't seem like that's happening. I would agree with you. I don't like really. Tagger shifter's. It's one of those situations where now he has rescued himself from some pretty deep first year holes before. But it's one of those situations where the first season was so bad. And yes, people no, I think have a fuller picture of how bad things got under JIMBO. Worst APR in all the BS. But I just it's gonna be hard to fully dig out of that at a place where we've talked about this. I know we have before, like if you get if even if they continue to get better, you know, the, the standard of force as Mashal titles. So what's the best case scenario for Willie Taggart by your three nine and four? I just I don't see that happening. Mack brown. You know, I have mixed feelings about that one my little more confident him than I am in miles. Because of the staff he put together. That's the other thing, right? With, with less marbles wherever you think of the head coach. I think I don't think he, I think he thought he was going to be able to get more guys that you wanted on that staff you look at that. Staff is pretty underwhelming. Mack brown. Got a really good staff a UNC. I don't disagree with that..

"Manny Diaz certainly is in a way that I don't think Mark richt ever could have been. So I'm curious to see if he is able to somehow reinstitute that swagger at Miami. I feel sort of intangible, and hopefully, it's a good way tie. We have breaking news. If you wanna play that sound if you have that sound on your board. What is it with the first pick in the twenty nineteen fantasy things draft? Denver was seen has selected many D as father was the mayor of my. I just wanted to get in on that pick in late February. I'm going to our list. Please add it an attitude. I running list jot down. Okay. Moving on. The only Alabama themed sound that. I have here is we crack into the top three again sort of hinted at this one before, but Alabama assistance again leaving in mass. This is becoming more of a feature than the bug. Yeah. So where do we stand on how this affects Nick Sabin, Dan? Where we stand is this. We know I think it's it's been answered. Yeah. I mean is this should this be talking point now in twenty nineteen it clearly worked out. Okay. Yeah. Asked year Nick Sabin clearly proven that he knows how to manage a situation with a lot of coaching turnover. Mom, is there any reason for concern here at all? No, I don't I don't think there's any reason because over and over year over year. I mean, how many former Sabin assistance are head coaches right now or coordinator somewhere on both sides of the ball. He brought in a number of well known enough. Coaches. I didn't call flood is running the offense of line Sark as the offensive coordinator Pete Golding who was there last year. I think it's going to run the defense, I suppose along with Nick Sabin Charles Kelley who ran the defense at Florida state south on Sarah, who's a former linebackers coach for Nick Sabin way back when there's a number of familiar names. So this specific class of coaches, I'm not terribly worried about I'm more concerned about is there a way to to picture to envision Alabama downfall that is not related to then except just got bored. The fire turned out. Okay. I don't talk. If it's not coaching attrition. I don't know what it is. You're talking about some sort of rising threat in the SEC. I imagined I imagine it's I mean, we'd know the clear threat right now is Georgia, but they're not in the same division. They don't have to play them, you know, after a tough game or sandwich between tough games and October something like that. It's not that weakened weak out challenge that the SEC west has. Has been certain years not every year. So my question to you right now is what will what would what will or would contribute to Alabama's demise quicker? And that is having that almost on equal footing power like Auburn has been occasionally or LSU has been occasionally or having that depth of division in having the Mississippi the Mississippi schools, look very good having JIMBO do really good things at AM having Arkansas become sneaky feisty with Chad Morris. Do you think it's depth of pretty good or having that to-to-to soup? I think it's division. I think it's depth to be honest because we'll when you've got the depth. You've got a constant threat of being knocked off on any given Saturday Noakes off, right? Yeah. And I think that probably puts more of a strain on the dynasty than anything else. Just having weakened weak out difficult competition. Now, you could make the case. That it's still pretty damn tough to play in the SEC germs in the SEC west, even if they're not logging many wins some of their other competition around college football, still pretty damn good. But my answer I think is always depth on that front. Yeah. That's what we what we've seen with Alabama struggling with Mississippi State a couple years ago losing to ole miss losing tech Sam they didn't lose to excellent teams. They lost two very good teams..

"Game on the road. We're able to do that. Right. Mayor looking like they're going to wrap up home field advantage in the NFC. Their next two games are the Steelers and the Panthers. They'd get them both at the dome. The offense for the saints spin iffy. The past three weeks. They only score ten points against Dallas. And Los say got twenty eight points against the butts, and that was a struggle for them. And then only twelve points against the Panthers. Not going to sound the alarm, but I do think that we're seeing defense is starting to catch up to these offenses and is a pretty good debate on Twitter right now talking about how hey the first four weeks of the season is really geared more toward the offense. And guys on defense. You're going to training camp. You can't do a lot of tackling. You're not doing a lot of hitting. It's taking these guys a minute to kind of find themselves and they're doing it toward the end of the year. I think that theory is pretty good one theory. We know Cam Newton is not one hundred percent. Here's Cam on the loss to the saints. Uphold our end of the bargain day. We just done sustained drives, you know, the defense that we played against they're pretty good. But we just have to do a better job. Our defense played a hell of a game. And we gotta reward them when they do those things two turnovers in a various all comes down to execution, and it's just like I said sustaining draws anyway, we didn't do that. All right. So Cam Newton's not one hundred percent at all. He just can't push the ball down the field. And it's the whole shoulder cameras up. That's. How frustrated you know, it's not necessarily a practice, which it is to a degree. But when you've been doing something, you know over certain times, you kinda get in a regiment of of when you're supposed to do certain things. Obviously, my arm has an allow me to do a lot of practice. Been on a pitch count for for long term. But it ended today, you know, it is was it is. But that's not. That's not. That's not the scapegoat. That's not something. I want people to bail me out on something that is reality. All right. Pretty garrett. Carolina fan. The Keat running him out there. He's not good. It's not a good. Well, why not do something else should be should be done? Now, you should be shelved since there's absolutely no nothing to play for this point other than a draft pick. I mean, put them down. Just I mean, I don't get it. We've heard from people that come on the show our guys in Charlotte or Landry guys. Like, this are all telling us that he's been hurt, and you can tell his Ben normally when he's off he overthrows, and that has not been the case in the last several weeks. He's under throwing guys he was bouncing the ball, McCaffrey. And other receivers last night. When you see him try to wind up throw. I mean there breeze would throw a forty yard out pattern with a little flick of the wrist. And that was what Cameron normally do. Now. He's putting his entire body into a throw just to get it on like a twelve yard slant. He's putting everything he can't throw the ball deep. He hasn't done it in weeks. I can't remember the last time we went for a deep pass. So why not criticize the GM mardi Herni? Why are you allowing this to happen? You're playing for a trying to get back to the playoffs. He's your best weapon. Yeah. You can't throw it. He's still were winning games early. And we're not winning games at Taylor Hennion heineke, so until yobs improved. He can't be when a games his way. But you were still in the hunt. So you have to go with your number one draft pick and your boy. And now now you're out. So you should be gone. He should be sitting. This is this is a shame that the organization doesn't have somebody ready to roll. With you've got a guy like Cam Newton who's been nicked the past couple years, why haven't they protected themselves. I don't get it that this has been a problem. It's a problem all day long and their season is going to end. This is a team that I thought. I thought would compete I thought would compete. I thought the NFC south will beat the best division in football this year. It has not been the the saints have have done their deal. They have done their deal there. They've wrapped it up. And now they're trying to wrap up home field advantage. Let's move next into college football. Justin field is leaving the university of Georgia. Some recruiting services said he was a number one player in the country. Dan, welcome USA today broke the story. How come Kirby smart could not keep it keep fields to get keep him bear? How could you not keep that whole Frahm fields thing? I don't know using him better whatnot. Anyway, we'll get dance take on that plus DJ Dirk and on the working with Nick Sabin, Dan Wilkinson like he thinks Alabama's wrong for that. Lots of college football talk coming up right now on NBC sports radio..

"A great teammate, if your physical if you have a strong work ethic do great in every phase of your life. So everything we do around. Here is earned nothing is given. And that goes all the way through to the jersey numbers as well. Dogwood temple head coach Jeff Collins, the owls riding a nice winning streak right now have a buy week this week looking to make it four in a row against UCF. One of the best teams in the nation next weekend. You know, you've been around some pretty dominant names and prominent names in coaching and Nick Sabin. Dan Mullen, George O'Leary. Is there one thing in particular that you got from all three? I mean, every one of them was different. You know league coaches, you know, what they do, you know, coach Leary a tremendous attention to detail making you overturn every stone to get ready for a game in preparation for opponent. Nick Sabin was alternate leader organizational structure, keeping everybody accountable to doing their job and a great recruiting process that I was able to learn while I was there with him. I'm an endangered Mullen really introduced me to being developmental program and how much competition in development in every phase of these young men's lives is vital to having a really good football team. And then the last lesson I learned was when I was at university of Florida working for Jim mcelwain is just to take all the great things that I've learned my great coaches that I've been around and apply it with my own personality and being around him really gave me the confidence that when I got a chance to be a head coach that was going to use the things that learned from these previous stops at great place. Great coaches that was going to do with my own personality. And I think I've done that. I stay true to myself, and we have an unbelievable culture here with great young men. One of the great things about sports is how it touches people's lives and can help unfortunately,.

It's tolerable. Why did they tell you? You needed to have it pulled. They took one of those scandals x-rays, and then he goes, look, you should get it out because it's going to cause you even more problems down the road. It's like a casket. When you look at your teeth when you get an x Ray, it looks like there's like this little casket, like a dead tooth. They're lying sideways. Did they tell you as a problem? Or was it a problem?
