"Okay. I got to move fast here, folks, not much time and I want to go back to this ABC News poll. Trump's approval rating in handling the virus, 60 cent disapproval 67%. 67% disapprove of his management of the Corona virus, pandemic and race relations now Toss aside that we all think Polling damage is bogus. Fact is this If this is true, he's gonna have to turn this around this because the pandemic is everything out there. It's the economy. It's it's everything. Consequently or conversely, Look at this. New York governor Andrew Cuomo. Job approval 66% based on his head Ling of the Of the virus. What did he do? He killed a bunch of people by sending them the nursing homes. But it doesn't matter because he's got the media singing his praises every day as our great governor. When you get a kiss as media coverage for six months while you are consigning people to death. By sending them to nursing homes. You end up with a 66% job approval. And his approval number on handing the pandemic is 72% trumps disapproval is 67%. This is the kind of crap are up against, but I maintained to you that Trump is gonna have to do something to change that number. It would be. It would be best to, I think, proceed on the basis, the number is fairly accurate. Even if the number is wrong, it can't hurt. Teo to deal with it. And this I'm not being critical. I'm talking. We've got what 115 days of number is Before they before the election. Perception is reality in politics, and so, look, I wish I had more time to expand on this, but I don't. We're near the end of the program, and I still have to tell you home security systems. Most often they're bought for one of two reasons. There's been a home burglary down the street. You think you're home might be next or you realize that your family will feel safer and more secure. If you have a security system. You don't have it because it's been so expensive. Things that hold you back is the perception of how much it costs and maintaining it and all that, but that's not relevant anymore..

Trump argued falsely that countries including Germany Denmark Norway have reopened schools with no problems in reality. Scientists say coronavirus can be spread farther than 6 feet in tiny airborne particles
"Meanwhile, more than 200 scientists are now asking the World Health Organization to update its guidance on how the Corona virus spreads in the air. They say fine particles may travel farther than six feet. And fear The current advice may not promote enough protection. Researchers around the world say the evidence is clear. The Corona virus is likely airborne. When we call for sneeze, larger airborne droplets containing virus can travel usually up to about six feet. But smaller particles can be admitted simply by talking or singing and can go much farther and linger in the air for hours. They don't fall to the ground in 60 and they could remain in the air for hours and potentially infectious for hours. What would you like the W. H o to do acknowledge that the risk goes beyond six feet? Dr Don Milton co wrote the letter signed by nearly 240 scientists from around the world. How certain are you that aerosols air playing a significant role in the transmission of Copan, 19 pass a 6 to 8 feet. You look at the restaurant outbreak in Guang Zhou several bus outbreaks in China, and it's clear that one person could infect people over much more than Six feet. In some circumstances. Those aerosols, Khun travel more than 30 feet. Each layer of protection helps like this cloth mask that partially blocks an aerosol from a simulated cough. What implication does that have for somebody in their home or in their office endures. You need to have everybody wearing masks who are not in the same bubble. And that you need to have good ventilation. Improve ventilation systems are a top priority for New York's governor, Andrew Cuomo. If there is a way to filter the air, and there's a way to get Cove it out of the air, then we want to do that. That is CBS's Dr Jon Lapook

More states halt reopenings as COVID-19 cases surge
"When the first corona virus cases appeared in Chicago back in January they bore the same genetic signatures as a germ that emerged in China weeks before. But HIS EGON Oser an infectious disease specialist at northwestern examined the genetic structure of virus samples from local patients. He noticed something different. A change in the virus was appearing again and again this mutation associated with the outbreaks in Europe and new. York City eventually took over Chicago by May. It was found ninety five percent of all the genomes that he sequenced. At a glance, the mutation seem trivial about thirteen hundred amino acids, service building blocks for a protein on the surface of the virus in the mutant virus, the genetic instructions for just one of those amino acids number six fourteen switched in the new variant from a D. which is shorthand for. Asset to a G, which is short for Lycene. But the location of that mutation was significant because the switch occurred in the part of the genome that codes for the all important spike protein. The spike protein is the protruding structure that gives the corona virus. It's crown like profile, which also gives its name the crown virus, and allows it to enter human cells the way a burglar picks lock. And Its ubiquity at this point is undeniable of the approximately fifty thousand genomes of the virus that researchers worldwide have uploaded into a shared database about seventy percent carry the new mutation, which is officially designated as D, Six fourteen g, but known more familiarly to the scientists on the front lines of this fight by one letter. G. G. Hasn't just dominated the outbreak in Chicago. It has taken over the world and now scientists are racing to figure out what it means. And how to stop it to of Our Star Science Writers Sarah Kaplan Join. Reported at least four lab experiments suggest that this mutation makes the virus significantly more infectious, although none of that work has yet been pure reviewed, another unpublished study led by federal scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory asserts that patients with the g variant actually have more virus in their bodies, making them more likely to spread it to others. The mutation does not. Does Not appear to make people sicker, but a growing number of scientists worry that it is making the virus more contagious. The scramble to unravel this mutation mystery embodies the challenges of science during the coronavirus pandemic with millions of people infected in thousands dying every day around the world, researchers strike a high stakes balance between getting information out quickly. And making sure that is right. The burglary analogy is when I found very helpful, because it really helps conceptualize what this virus is doing to our bodies, Joel likes to say that the coronavirus can be thought of as an extremely destructive burglar, unable to live or reproduce on its own. It breaks into human cells in coops, biological machinery to make thousands of copies of itself that leaves a trail of damaged tissue and triggers an immune system response that for some people for many people can be fatal, the so-called side kind store. This replication process is messy, even though it has a proofreading mechanism for copying its own genome, the coronavirus frequently makes mistakes. Those are the mutations. The vast majority of mutations have no effect at all on the behavior of the virus. But? Few genetic mutations could be more significant than the ones that affect the spike protein. That is the viruses lock pick the most powerful tool against us. The protein attached to a receptor on respiratory cells, called as to which opens the cell and let's the virus slip inside. The more effective despite protein, the more easily the virus can break into the bodies of its hosts, even when the original variant of the virus emerged in Wuhan China. It was obvious that the spike protein was already quite effective. But, it could have been even better. The spike protein for the coronavirus has two parts that don't always hold together well when you look at it under a microscope in the version of the virus that rose in China the outer part, which the virus needs to attach to a human receptor, frequently broke off equipped with this faulty lock pick. The virus had a harder time invading Ho cells. Studying both variations of the gene, using a proxy virus, in a Petri dish of human cells heireann show a virologist at scripts. Research found that viruses with the g variant had more spike proteins in the outer parts of those proteins were less likely to break off. In that research. The virus was ten times more infectious with that mutation. The good news is this. The mutation does not seem to lead to worse outcomes for patients, nor does it alter the viruses response to antibodies from patients who had the D variant? Suggesting again? This is great news that vaccines being developed based on the original version of the virus will be effective against the war infectious European strain. Identifying, emerging mutations allows researchers to track their spread, knowing what genes affect how the virus transmits enables public health officials to tailor their efforts to contain it wants therapeutics vaccines are distributed on a large scale. Having a baseline understanding of the genome will help pinpoint when drug-resistance inevitably starts to evolve. None of this unfortunately is a magic bullet, but experts say that understanding how the virus works will help respond better. Still, it's a race against time. And Right now. The virus is winning. And, that's the big idea. Here are three other headlines that should be on your radar. This Tuesday number one. US deaths are approaching one, hundred, twenty, five thousand. We expect to pass that number today and the total number of confirmed cases, here's top two and a half million amid worsening outbreaks in Florida, Texas and Arizona that are straining hospital capacity to the Limit Jacksonville, the largest city in Florida and the host to the Republican National Convention in late. August announced that masks will now be mandatory in public and indoor locations. Vice President Pence plans to go ahead with plan travel this week to Florida and Arizona, even though cases are spiking, but Arizona Saul another record, high and hospitalizations days after trump visited the state for a raucous indoor rally where almost no one more mask. Florida's Rolling Seven Day. Average has risen by one hundred percent since week ago. Trump's former FDA commissioner Scott gottlieb warned last night. Night that the surging number of cases could result in nearly half our country infected with the virus by the end of the year and overall deaths are likely to return to more than one thousand per day. He predicts in fact, the number two at the CDC, told the Journal of the American Medical Association yesterday that the US. has quote way too much virus to be. Be Able to contain it anymore and shoe cat said that we're no longer in a position like New Zealand or Singapore. South Korea, where new case can be rapidly identified, and all the context traced and people are isolated or sick and people who are exposed or quarantined, and that's how you keep things under control. She said instead. We have way too much virus across the country. Country for that right now. She described herself as very discouraged and added. This is really the beginning I think there was a lot of wishful thinking around the country that hey, it's summer. Everything's GonNa be fine, but she added that she seemed quote a lot of worrisome factors over the last week or so and added quote. We are not even beginning to be over this. And, we're seeing that on the front lines. Los Angeles County health officials have issued a dire warning in the last twelve hours that conditions are rapidly deteriorating in the nation's most populous county as the virus spreads quickly, officials are warning that both public and private hospitals in the city of angels may soon be overwhelmed leading to triage. One factor that's alarming leaders in southern California. Is that corona virus patients are crossing the US Mexico border to seek medical care. Now, a lot of Americans seeking treatment. But the head of California's Emergency Medical Services Authority describes the stream of patients crossing the border back and forth as quote pouring gasoline on the fire. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey pushed back his plans to reopen public schools and has banned gatherings of more than fifty people. He also has closed down bars, nightclubs, movie, theaters and water parks. All of which he recently reopened as we discussed last week warning residents that we can no longer be under any illusion that the viruses going away on its own other hard hit states, including Tennessee and Georgia have put in place new stay at home. Orders extended them. There are so many unsettling stories just popping up across the country that it's hard to keep up more than two hundred people in West. Virginia were advised yesterday to quarantine after possibly being exposed to the virus will working out at a gym. New Jersey. Governor Phil Murphy says plans to allow indoor dining or are going to be postponed indefinitely while New York Governor Andrew, Cuomo says his administration is reconsidering whether indoor dining can restart safely. New York City next week, which was going to happen as part of its phase three now this is a big blow for restaurant owners in the tristate region who've been preparing to reopen by hiring staff that they'd laid off and restocking their inventory as they teeter on the precipice of bankruptcy, a lot of that food may now need to be thrown away and Broadway's main theaters all said yesterday that they're going to remain shuttered until at least January and probably longer.

"Good Morning America. This is the Catch Roundtable John. Cats and the TD's here Sunday morning. What's going on in the world? Governor Andrew Cuomo met with President trump on Friday and we have an exclusive of what happened the Morning Governor. Cuomo this morning Very John. Pleasure to be with you. Thank you for having no traditionally Between you and trump were friends a long time you have differences in certain political things but basically you were friends How did the meeting go on Friday? The the person and And I've had a number of discussions you're right. We're from different. Political parties have different political philosophies. But we've always been able to talk And WE'VE AWHILE. He's been president. We've talked about a number of issues. The issue now is really tied to the main issue. This political Scifo John which is the issue of immigration. And what should this nation do about immigration It comes to light in New York because In New York like thirteen other states we give drivers licenses to undocumented people From a state point of view. I WanNa make sure that people who are driving our roads. PASA driving test. It's a public safety issue so even if you're not in full compliance with the immigration laws. You can get a driver's license if you take the test and if you pass the test because we want to make sure that if you're driving you know what you're doing. The federal government wants access to our department of motor vehicles database. Which would then give them access to the database of undocumented people in the state our state when we passed a law said we won't turn the data over to the federal government If you did then nobody would come forward no undocumented person would come forward and actually apply for a license the Federal Department of Homeland Security. I think is basically extorting New York by setting. If you don't give us the driver's license database we will deny access to a federal program called global entry. Gets a little complicated? John but global entry allows people to go to the federal government and basically get pre-screened so when you come into an airport and you're going through customs you are prescreened and you don't have to wait on these long lines. It's a fast track through customs. A lot of people who travel yet this clear so they don't waste all this time on these borderlines on the everybody hates those lines. Yes in the federal government said If you're a New York we won't allow you access to this fast track process and it's only retaliation for us not giving them the driver's license information they totally unrelated these two things When before they give you. The special pass has to do their own investigation. Don't necessarily need your database to that. That's exactly right John. And that's why this is Infuriating and I think we're too it's to get the fast pass you have to go before the federal government you sit with the federal officials you provide all the documentation you haven't interview and then they give you this Free Fast Pass. It has nothing to do with the driver's license database. They're just using this to force us to give them the driver's license. I said to the Homeland Security Person. Look I'll give you any information. You want anyone applying so the fast track process the global entry. But I'm not going to give you the Department of Motor Vehicle Database and I can understand It's a compromise to be had for instance when I was talking about it years ago and I said undocumented immigrants that committed a crime I have no sympathy for but undocumented immigrants that are working hard and have never committed a crime and they're paying the taxes we should leave them alone. Can we make a deal like that? I offered them the logical solution to their question. I said anyone who's applying for the Global Lynch free Fast Pass. I'll give you whatever you want. Whatever you want. So that is more than a logical and gives them everything they want if they're only using it to extort New York. Well then I can't do anything for them And that's the decision that they're going have to make understood and President going to think about that. The president was going to get back to me next week after he reviewed the situation. Well it sounds logical and I think you came a solution to at least to what other things discussed was The Hudson River tunnel festival Hudson River tunnels have spoken to the president about it. Came up again. The salt which was a tax increase for New Yorkers that ended the deductability state and local taxes no state contributes more to the federal government. The New York state We give about fourteen billion dollars more to the federal government than we get back with a number one contributing state the United States of America and then ending called deductability state and local taxes. Means New York now contribute even more? It was totally share. It was totally political. Basically the the democratic states under their tax bill gave more money to the Republican states. And that's using politics to do government policy in a way that I've never seen happen before. Joe You know we can have our own politics. And we can have an honorable disagreement but you key it extort and you can't use government to penalize your political enemies. That's just wrong well. It seems like they're ever mess in Washington over politics and WHO's still be based on that but that's a big mess in federal government as it is and you does need that tunnel and What I said Jerry. Nadler quote me and ask me talk to the president about it. I said Cherry. It's hard because you've criticized him every day and you're looking to hang them every day If and it's right through Jerry's district or is there a way to compromise anything? Well look even on the tunnels we can. We can compromise. The tunnels are very important because the Amtrak trains comes through the tunnels and they. It's not just into New York. That's the whole northeast corridor. John Dick goes through those tunnels. So you're talking about the whole northeast would lease Amtrak. Train service if those tunnels go down and tunnels are in very bad shape Right now part of a very large project called the Gateway Project which is about thirty billion dollar project which is very expensive. I said we could scale it back. And let's focus on the tunnels I because that's the priority but you're right. The larger dynamic is new. York is a democratic state even than northeastern states tend to be democratic. If you take hyper political viewpoint you would say well. Why would I help? New York in Connecticut and Massachusetts New Hampshire Vermont and many of these democratic states primarily. Yeah except we. That is a really counterproductive. Obnoxious frankly point of view. I'm not going to help citizens who are American citizens who happen to live in democratic states and it's also very bad for the country because New York is a big economic engine. The northeast is a big economic. Engine is cutting your nose despite your face. No but I think all New Yorkers old north Houston is understand that Who also are not discussion. Is Trump gonNA considered some kind of compromise? I hope you know. I hope I talked to him about the soul tax the gateway tunnels. I've talked to him about projects. We're building a new Laguardia Airport. Is You know our needs federal approval to do that? The federal government has slowed down that airport construction project. Your point is right when you said the Congressman Nadler. The president feels that he doesn't get political support in New York and therefore he keeps poking New York but the cycle has to stop John. You know it's you don't treat me well so I'm going to treat you poorly. Yeah but that's just a vicious downward spiral you're one hundred percent right Governor Cuomo that cycle has to stop and everybody should sit around around table and make and do what's best for the country and best for the state I've said to the president if you help us with one of these projects which is a federal project and it's it's good for the country. I'll be one hundred percent cooperative. I want what's good for my state? I don't care if you're democratic Republican short poll. Let's work together and get things done. That's what the game is all about any other issues come up. How long was the beating We met for about an hour. It was a you know. We're both from new. York was a candidate. Frank Conversation I think the president really understood the situation and When he said his he get back to me next week. That was a reasonable position. You know it's a it's a complicated issue and you had to talk to his people so we'll see what he says next week. New York state bail reform the. Da's the district attorney's are up in arms. The police departments are up in arms. What's hey you We appear to have some compromise. Everybody believes impel reforms Governor you know there were a lot of things wrong but it did go too far. What say you? Yeah you know John Bail reform. We made a major change. The major chains was de linking cash. Bail meaning what meaning the way. The system works now is a judge. Basically determines bail and sets bail. And it's a dollar amount and if you can pay the bill get out and if you can't pay bail you sit in jail sometimes for one to three years before your cases even heard that's not justice was not supposed to be about money. It was not supposed to be about rich or poor so we're D- linking cash from the bail system which is right and it's long overdue. This is now a major change though to the system. And when you make a major change you have to step back and see how it works. You know any complex system. John you change one piece you then have to see how the rest of the system reacts the Human Body. They put you on a medication. The doctor says well let's see how it goes and let's see what the consequences are so We made a major change. We understand fully that when you make that kind of change you have to see what the consequences are And then you have to go refine what you did. And that's what we're talking about now. We do have to separate the politics. Because everything is super heated politics now separate politics from the shacks tracks the data and then refined the system. It's not one change. And then you're done you make a change you watch you refine you recalibrate and that's what the legislature is is working on now and. I'm working with them. We're talking to where everyone. What's the Continuing change the continuing refinement. And we're having those conversations right now and I believe we do the state budget April one that by the time we get to the budget we will have had a chance to look at the data. Look at the facts and decide what to do intelligently. I don't want to respond to politics. You know we only in January. Two crime in New York City went up seventeen percent and they attributed about the bail reform and they attributed to the city closing down rikers island. Which a lot of people don't WanNa tell so. I guess everybody's looking for common sense. That's right so you're right. The statistics show the crime. Went up in New York City. Now and you're right John They pointed to factors bail. Reform happened but they're also reducing the number of people in jail at rikers island..

"The way the left things. Cynthia Nixon, you know, who she is. Right. She's the former sex and the city star she's running for governor of New York. She is taking on governor Andrew Cuomo in the in the democrat primary next week. Actress Cynthia Nixon is. I don't know. Maybe she's got a chance to be Cuomo in the primary. I really don't know. But see here. Here's what's here's what's great. She's given a talk last night. She she wants single payer healthcare in the entire state. Single payer government run healthcare in the entire state, New York. Now again, liking, California. Studies have shown that the cost would be astronomical. Her New York health act. She's a democrat. She's running for governor of New York. She wants universal healthcare for everybody in the state, including illegals. Every legal in the state, New York. She wants covered. Some estimates are that it would require her state's plan would require a tax revenue to increase by about one hundred and fifty six percent by twenty twenty two. When asked by the new York Daily News editorial board how she would pay for yesterday when she was asked by the new York Daily News. How the heck are you gonna pay for this this universal single payer healthcare for everybody in the state of New York, including illegals? The cost estimates are through the roof. How are you gonna pay for it, miss Nixon? She was asked, you know, what her answer was to the new York Daily News to the world to every voter in New York. You know what she said yesterday? This is so democrat, you know, what she said she said word for word pass it. And then let's figure out how to fund it. Pass it. She said, and then we'll figure out. How to pay for it? Says Cynthia Nixon. Trying to become the next governor of the state of New York. Now, what does that sound like, I know, you know, pass it? And we'll figure out how to pay for it. What did Nancy Pelosi say a while back with ObamaCare? Something like pass it. And we'll find out what's in it. And they did. This is beautiful though. This is instructive. Because this is the way so many Democrats think this is the way the left thinks doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. How much should government program cost? Just make it free. Doesn't matter. What all this stuff costs? Doesn't matter. What free college costs? Doesn't matter what a livable wage costs. Doesn't matter. What what ObamaCare costs doesn't matter. What free birth control costs? Doesn't matter. What any of these free things cost? Doesn't matter. What free healthcare costs? It doesn't matter. They don't care. She doesn't care. She's a smart woman. I've seen her debate Andrew Cuomo. I can't stand Andrew Cuomo. I've seen sitting Nixon debate him. She's a smart woman. She's a hardcore lefty, but she's a smart woman when she says something like that in front of the whole state of New York pass it, and then we'll figure out how to pay for it. She's no dummy. She doesn't care. Pay for. They never do. They never do. You see the whole point. Is to get people hooked on free stuff. The whole point is to get people hooked dependent upon government, white black and Brown, baby. White black and Brown. The whole point is to get people right sucking on government in this case for all your healthcare needs. Hell you don't need that in New York. Just like in California. You don't even have to be an American citizen to become dependent upon our government. The whole point. They know once you like ObamaCare once you get the program, and what you're not going to get rid of it. You're not going to get rid of it. If she can get universal government run healthcare in the state of New York. It's never going away. When was the last time a government program went away? When did that last Eappen? That's that was the whole folly with ObamaCare. They didn't care. What was in? It. Nancy Pelosi didn't give a damn what was in it. Obama didn't give a damn what was in that. They didn't care all they wanted to do was pass it because they knew they know that once you pass it once it becomes a government program. It ain't going away Saccone away. So how do you pay for it? You don't you? Don't the debt right now, by the way, twenty two trillion dollars in debt and counting. Doesn't matter. Somebody will worry about paying for down the road. I'm not gonna I'll be dead. My kids know my grandkids. Probably they're going to pay for it. Ha ha. They're going to pay for it. Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. That's so democrat. Pass it. And we'll figure out how to pay for. And do you know what son of a gun? You've got you've got progressives right now winning in a lot of places around the country. Andrew Cuomo is pretty darn tough to be. But I wouldn't be surprised if Cynthia Nixon gives them a good one I money in your offering free stuff like this..

"And even though everybody saw that the democratic the wisdom credit party machine was not going to be easy to beat she managed to do just that and it really important to note also because last night you had both parties the joe crowley party in queens akasa cortez party in the bronx and you saw a crowley sparty all faces from the political establishment here in new york city from city council speaker cory johnson you had a danny drums city councilmen you had all kinds of politicians elected officials democratic elected officials that were supporting joe crowley or cortes was i believe by herself as she got the visit later on of cynthia nixon they cover notorial challenger of governor andrew cuomo so it's not wing of the democratic party but gabe and sabrina if you wanna weigh on this from your perspective is national politics reporters the press this morning is playing this as a up call for national democrats because a cossio cortez ran decidedly to crowley's left as we heard in that clip of her on abolishing ice on medicare for all on a gallon teed national income as bernie sanders supportive from two thousand sixteen cynthia nixon support of this year but this district also had changed to majority people of color so i wonder how much you think it was issues as opposed to relate ability like happens everywhere in politics when constituencies change and the left versus establishment narrative with national implications gabe might be getting overblown well there's no doubt that that is the sort of national narrative and has been for a long time in the democratic party or at least for you know the last two or three years but whenever you have a situation like this where it's a really unexpected you know an unexpected primary victory like this it's really a combination of a lot of factors it's definitely clear that the district had changed a lot it's also very clear that crowley didn't take this challenge seriously as he should have but listen we can't ignore some of the bigger changes that are happening across the national democratic party there's obviously you know a big move coming from the left but another one of the big lessons here is young candidates and especially women candidates are winning in the huge numbers this year particularly in democratic primaries and there were beating republicans and in special election so that's one of the big lessons that democrats are taking all this and that should not be overlooked in all this there is a huge generational change that a lot of democratic voters are asking for sabrina i know you were covering the travel ban and reaction yesterday but how does this binary day look to you and this particular primary and national context well i think i would echo what gave said about how this is shaping up to be a big year for women especially young women and women of color and so i do think that it's difficult to take away too much from any one particular race and subscribe the findings nationally especially when you do think about the fact that this is new york's fourteenth congressional district and we're talking about an area that already by definition is going to lead more progressive or more liberal and so i think that where you have commonality across the country it's probably more so in the economic populism says she was someone who i cortez excuse me with someone who is part of the effort taxi lobby joe crowley's office to support medicare for all of course that's been championed by bernie sanders she had also organized for bernie sanders in new york and so i think you'll find some of those economic issues become more of a litmus test for democrats across the country but i also don't think that it's necessarily for example going to be the position of democrats to abolish ice i don't think that that some of the more progressive physicians on some of the other social issues will necessarily be part of the democratic party's platform nor nor will they believe that they have to all identify for example socialists so i think it's going to be very specific to to some of the states are the districts where the where they're campaigning but it's certainly a huge upset and i think it as it was with eric cantor and dave brought in the house majority leader for republicans in two thousand fourteen i think this is this is going to be a similar wakeup call for the establishment in.
