Could 60 Games Mean a Bad Team From Last Year Will Be Your 2020 World Series Champion?

"What to expect with baseball's return, and that's where I start okay. Baseball's back and you are what you are angry. It took this long fair. You're indifferent because you already hated it or I guess that's really in different. If you hate the game and you don't care, it's even coming back and you just made fun of it the whole time during this public display of not being able to figure out okay I. Get that one, too, but there's probably a lot of us is gonNA. Throw it on now. The problem is baseball should have been back before. Let's say what a week before the NBA. NBA gets to sing rolling and I don't know how much crossover there is between NBA and baseball fan I'd imagine there's probably more crossover between the NFL and the NBA Fan, but who cares whatever we got this thing back and I. Still Really like baseball and I always thought it was going to happen. There's a specific reason. Why was finally work out? No matter what version of what we have get to that and a little bit because there was a couple of reporters that we're actually seeing like as it's probably over probably doomed. Okay then it's definitely coming back now. Because remember the rules when you're on television, it sounds a lot better. If you're an opinion, person sports saying it's the death of baseball, and I'm now going to write the verbal obituary in. It's never coming back. WHOA, that's a good clip makes a really good video. Good sound bite. Let's play that on the radio. Show a little bit later today, or you could be on the desk and say. They'll probably figure it out, and that's not as exciting, but it's the accurate on the. I would say. It's the lane that I've been in this entire time, so let's take a close. Look at what we have. 'cause look out, folks I the Internet last night and I looked up some baseball stuff. We got sixty games normal playoffs. Thank God good on that a little bit later. But what is sixty games me? Baseball's weird. You can have bad teams. Put together a decent sixty games and could team go forty and twenty. Sure, but I think a Lotta. These teams are going to be right around five, hundred, thirty, five, twenty five, and then you're going link. Think how little! The discrepancy could be look at how the playoff chase ends now in September with the advancement of you know the different kind of playoff alignments they have and I don't like some of the extra game stuff, but it all has been really really exciting. The last few years of what we've seen in more than last five years of what we've gotten out of the baseball plaster incredible incredible. Scenes, finishes and all sorts of drama. In scares me a little bit that the product has been great in the postseason, and if not really helping the rest of the months, but if you look at and I did this I look back at some of the worst teams in baseball interlock. Place all right Toronto Toronto. At one point was twenty nine and fifty two, and then they went twenty, two and twenty over forty two game stretch. That's a sixty seven. When teen played two games over five hundred for Forty Games San Francisco. You Ask all right here. You Go last year twenty six and thirty eight at one point, and then ended up at fifty, five and fifty three, so they want on that Mastro. That's a forty four game stretch were San. Francisco played twenty nine. Nine and fifteen baseball they were a seventy seven and eighty-five team, but more folks I tried the best I could find from their stretches, fourteen and thirteen. That was an awful awful baseball team. Remember Seattle last year against smaller sample. They started the year thirteen and to remember although Seattle tweets they were twenty, five and thirty five, and that was a bad baseball team. How about this one? Miami was ten thirty one on May Fifteenth, then they stretched it to forty one in sixty three. That's a bad baseball team that from Miami. That's a bad baseball team. That from the middle of May to the end July played thirty one and thirty two baseball. That's crazy, and then you have Detroit. Who was actually eighteen and twenty, and if you forgot how many games Detroit one last year I don't blame you because I did to the Tigers in forty seven games and I couldn't find anything that was thirty and thirty over sixty game stretch, but over forty they were two games under five hundred, so we could have some really weird stuff. Now you could have a cy young winner be six and four. You could have with the second base being occupied an extra inning games. The unintended part of that is we could just have a walk fest, and all these extra things, but I'm not sitting here clamoring for. For more extra innings, even though I used to like it when I watch the Games, I can also understand that basically these managers now don't even WanNa. Play them because they'd rather not burn out there. They'd rather take the loss that day. Burn out their arms for an entire week. At least that's what they tell us. All the time is somebody hits four hundred. No, thank you by the way nobody's hit three fifty cents Josh Hamilton like ten years ago. We've had four years over the past four years. Excuse me, five hitters have hit twenty home runs over the first sixty games, so look at maybe twenty. Twenty being. You're leading home run number, and there's all sorts of other things how you're gonNA. Use Your roster with thirty, two twenty eight to twenty six. You'RE GONNA. Call up different players, and how you're gonNA use your

"Rewatch ables. We're doing the entire ninety seven. Nba Finals concentrate in the last two games. But this is such a fascinating document in so many different ways. This is. Jordan has become unassailable. Great at this point he's a superhero. Were all assuming he's going to be He's GonNa come through every step of the way. No matter what obstacle Utah Team. That had been around for a long time. We didn't really have a feel for them. Not Enjoyable to watch. We're about to cover bulls go sixty nine and thirteen. This is the culmination of just a brutal twenty months that we talked about on your podcast. And we did the wizards pod were they had hit this. This point of their basically the Beatles at this point this travelling circus. They're covered differently than any sports team ever. All that stuff jazz go sixty four. Eighteen eleven three in the playoffs. They beat the Lakers. The clippers and famously the rockets stockton hits the three The Lakers series. That was the Kobe ball series kind of lost in the shuffle where Shack first-year Eddie Jones Nick Van Exel. Pretty even series. I I remember in the moment thinking. Oh the Lakers beat Utah. You always loses. Utah's done and wasn't the case. It was MVP. Carl Malone still being an MVP so any we get to the finals and the subplot emerges the real MVP versus the guy who won the MVP but then this whole other thing about no Karl Malone was actually offered this year twenty seven and ten incredible defensive player such a good passer the double team. The whole offense is built around him. You know he's a deserving. Mvp where did you stay in in nineteen ninety seven on this question heading into the finals? Do you remember your do. This was none of us like watching. Utah back then okay. No-one did and even though there was never series of ours necessarily rooting for Jordan. I was I wasn't rooting for the Utah Jazz it just it was the NBA finals. It was on an there wasn't anyone. I was emotionally connected to about the entire time now because I was a huge Barkley guy and I know I'm biased. I've always thought Barkley was better than Malone and I think these this series is does not this. This is a bad series or Karl Malone fans by the way it's awful You had the number one guy in the history of the League setting you up on every single possession your entire career and malone was a really good shooter for big. He was incredible as a rebounder. He's pretty good as a passer as a closer on the wing was putting the knee up like pretty. Yeah Yeah and dude. He played every game. He played every game and he was actually a real tough guy. Like when he and Robin getting into it. There's part of me like want him to fight. Rodman for real because he would've twisted Rodman up. I mean he just he just would've but whenever I see some of those dollar memes about five four three build your Dream Team. Carl Malone's always unlike the four dollar line when he's on it and Barclays always on the three dollar line and when I think of peak bark versus people alone I know who I'm taking I'm taking Barclay. I wouldn't even argue it. But the the composite the full stat picture of WHO Carl Malone is is incredible so the fact that they're in this finals they have this incredible record. They're awesome at home. They have this amazing homecourt atmosphere. That's like ruthless. Which is part of the Rodman story when he says something about Mormons and gets fined. And then there's a weird Jim Gray interview where he starts crying before game six it. He was out to lunch. The sears right. He's he's so bad in the closing game I respected what Stockton and Malone did but it might have been the first time I was realizing something that you and I have just started talking about more and more the separation between playoff basketball regular season basketball. That if you'RE GONNA run this pick and roll with these two hall of famers you're GonNa win a bunch of games but when I look at Utah in the series there's like three or four guys who Utah they wouldn't even play in today's NBA. They're playing minutes in the NBA finals. So you have the two thousand seventeen finals. Golden State averages one twenty one point six a game ninety one shots a game in the finals games. The cavs were one fourteen point. Eight nine point two goes again this ninety seven finals and it gets worse. The next year the Bulls for the series eighty seven. Point eight points. Jazz were eighty seven. Point two seventy four point eight field goals for the bowl. Seventy one point two for the jess say that the differences. What how many shots? The difference is basically thirty five shots again towed out a lot of that too. You could talk about. It's not even defense. It's not in both teams. Were slow paced teams. Chicago'S SLOW PACED team. Because they're running their stuff but when you're running these side pick and rolls or malone a pin down where somebody comes up only to try to get it back to him in the post that takes time and that's what they did

"Go with this but look we. We understand what I'm trying to say here but then when you actually see the guys that are the Harem type guys. You'd like to so that would be like the Sky Sox so I have to be like this guy. I would have to be like this guy to have a neighborhood of of wives data. Now imagine that would just be like. I can't even get married now. I can imagine what kind of hassle I'd be like Are you serious like the nets? Iran dinwiddie just came back from injury half to watch. This can't yeah so There's a Harem guy there's betrayal there's there's there's Vegas do shows up on the scene a little bit later It wasn't shocking that the people that worked on the zoo maybe didn't have a ton of options going on Where it felt like some guys were like sure I you know things are so bleak that maybe I'll just move out to your big cat zoo and eat old walmart me and maybe even marry somebody in a in a way. That would have your relatives going on so I guess at the end of it. I almost felt bad about myself because in any story were always rooting for against someone. And I don't believe the rules of you know who do I like in this show because those rules have been broken? But there's still things that are gonNA come up a lot different. You know if you were to say. Oh you know these. These are all the different characters. Okay but who do? I like like no one's ever GonNa Watch this show of all the characters and likable? I don't remember. I don't really believe in that stuff And I know that those are the rules in does the rules. But I don't know that that always has happened. There's no one that you ever really root for in this show and it's different because it's a documentary but if it were a series it would have been incredible but now it's too late like you can't do the series on it now because no one would have if you've ever pitched this and I hate the Cliche F- If you gave it to Hollywood they even believe it's like how many times have you. We're GONNA use that But this is one of those deals where it just. It doesn't make any sense and I kind of found myself. Is that low key rooting for the guy that may have tried to organize them harder than the person that the hit was organized for. And that's why we're so I'M GONNA leave leave you with that. Remembering Christian Laettner's Famous Buzzer-Beater

"Friends from Pearl Jam taping this Sunday afternoon. We don't need to take this on Sunday night anymore. Because there's no sports it's all it's all vintage sports. I've actually been preparing for this moment. My whole life. Old Games ran. Russillo is here as he is every Sunday. This was the part of the schedule. And we'll be talking about March madness thoughts where the last couple of weeks of the NBA would were going. Would-be worried about Mvp conversations and things like that. Now now I wanNA talk about The later shot. 'cause I watched that with my son yesterday. He had never seen he didn't know is going to happen. He was amazed. I got to relive it. Threw Him Russillo. Yeah that was Was An all time. I mean that that seriously in the moment you're like this is a kind of game that I'm going to think about the rest of my life. I mean not every day Certainly but late nurses dominance is a college player and then seeing younger people watch that game now and not like Lakers mom and you go. You guys have no idea you have you have no you think you know but you don't you know what I what struck me watching that game. I thought Leitner was going to be a really incredible pro because he was so good in college. But then you watch him and you think about the translate him as I go. He's got slow feet was really hard for him to like. Put The ball down. Every shot was almost like a miracle shot by hamlet on balance. Fling shots These turnaround fifteen footers. I think nowadays he would have been an awesome stretch five. I think he would have been shooting eight threes. A game in everything he did would have been different but I am. I was mad at myself. Twenty eight years ago that I thought later was going to be such good proud. Who else knew who knows what else happened. When we went to the wrong team. He had some personal issues etc. You know what the great lesson about Labor is is that he was. You'll know better than I want to get anything where I get this. Kinda thing wrong. But was he one of the first guys like tested positive for. We'd like in that era. Right or was rumored or something. There is always always rumors. He talked about that thirty for thirty. We did that. You know he definitely Off The court might have had a couple issues but a everything. I love watching these games and just getting upset about some of the issues are making 'cause like Grant Hill. Just first of all. He was a soft mark coming off the bench which seemed inconceivable but It seemed like he could have gone by anybody. He wanted to Kentucky team at all times and yet they're like all right spread out for Hurley. This is much better option. Hurley's got this. Maybe she go to grant hale the guy who guy who's going to be a first team all NBA guy in five years. Yeah later was suspended. Some Games there. I Don history but I just wanted to double check it because I remember later on and that was you know when I started talking to guys in front offices in I would be leading up to the draft and I was like you know. How can you figure some of the stuff out because what you learn is that no one really figures it out? But when you're outside of the world you think everybody has this magic. Is that that none of us can understand? It's really not that and something to gm told me that was really really smart and again it was the very beginning of me talking to these guys when we were talking about backgrounds personalities and try to figure things out and he goes look he was plenty of guys that are from terrible areas. Have a terrible family set up and have bad guys around left and right. And they're the best teammates they practice hard. They care they never get any trouble and then you look at somebody like Leitner. Who's like the poster boy? He's one of the best college basketball players in history. Not just guys that we saw was that dominant. He was incredible. And it's like here. He is Duke. Looks like he's a gap model and the whole deal and it was like well. Yeah you know now no one cares about any of this stuff but I just always thought that was really really interesting to kind of talk about lake nurse transition to the pros because he was. It's hard to imagine. He wasn't better because he still was a decent player like he still had a decent career but he was at all incredibly dominating at Duke You thought there's there's no way this isn't going to be a special pro. Plus we had familiarity with them. Because we're able to you know. Watch him and watch that Duke team evolve and even like they were shown Cherokee parks on the bench and acid. Like I remember. They recruited him. He was like the number one guy in deal he was going to be. It was going to go from ferry to Leitner to Cherokee parks. And you know you watch him on the bench and guys like Thomas Thomas Hale who added thought of in forever you know we just watched all those games back then and and something changed with College. Probably Fifteen sixteen years ago when you know. Maybe they will. Maybe it was less time. I know everybody's talked about all the possible reasons for it but it just met more back then like I remember where I watched that game and who I was with. You know an and there's been Great College Basketball Games especially this year late. They were shown. Today they're shown Carolina Villanova two thousand sixteen. That was an awesome game. That was really fun. But it. There was a weightiness to especially that ninety two seasons. Because you had the The fab five and It just every I remember everything about that seasons it was fun to relive it. I thought. Cps did a good job the way they showed it see. It felt like a real game. They didn't try to cut ahead. They would go to commercial and they would only show one ad so they could go right back so it stayed in the flow. But they didn't try to edit it. They didn't cut free throws so it kind of felt like being a time machine right. Yeah that when I've gone back in watch the NBA stuff You sit there and like the thing that jumps out especially working on the side of it now like I would. They're all these things that I would never think about is just a kid home watching these games and now that you work in it not that you and I have extensive background calling games but you just you look at it so differently You know when you mentioned the college basketball thing though it is. It's a simple answer. You can't have a brand where you're changing the brand every single time like. Imagine if you had this hit. Tv show with all these characters that people invested in and he said. Oh by the way we're never bringing these characters back for season two where he's GonNa bring all new characters and it just. It's hard it's really simple answer. But the turnover. Who used to get weird when guys would leave after their sophomore years but like what like what that. Guy. I think. He's doing now granted. It's wrong I think I should be able to go straight out of high school but there's just you know we like things to be easy as fans and really as consumers in any story like really it's how do you get people to jump into the next part of the story and college. Hoops like how many people can name. Who's on Baylor? You know for the season started. I stopped everything to watch Baylor. Kansas and it was a really fun game. This year was like nine. Am Tip out here. But I know that those kind of Duke Games or that Saint. John's Georgetown stuff for Sarah to that big Monday like I would watch that instead of the NBA growing up and now. It's absurd to think I would ever do that. I saw. I noticed watching that thinking about that team and even Kentucky and they were talking about how they were on probation for two years and the guys stuck around. Patino saying they really have anywhere else to go the other. Yeah they had all these seniors that were there but one of the things. I loved about college back then. Was it married high school in the sense I. The new guy shows up. And he's the freshman. He's gotTA prove himself. But then you got the older kids that have been there for a while and you know. The Duke was like the perfect example of. They're they're really like a high school team. Cherokee parks was the young freshman. Grant Hill was a sophomore. Who is going to take it over when Leitner leaves and and that dynamic that just eventually was gone. You Watch that game and you're thinking Mashburn Ingrain. Hiller are sophomores Mashburn. Just unbelievable there. Eight hundred twenty eight ten just looks like a classic stretch for now he he would have been I think a multiple our NBA Guy. There's no reason he should've even stayed at Kentucky for two years he should have gotten into the NBA as fast as you possibly could. We didn't realize that back then. Yeah I got to know Mashburn when he was at he. Spn One of my favorite living in Bristol stories. Is he and I go into Walmart to buy an extra controller and I didn't know it was going to pay for it because I didn't want to assume anything and I was like. Yeah 'cause I had the playstations hooked up in my hotel room and we were just bored out of their minds so it's me Jamal Mashburn at Walmart and I asked him about that team. And I always when asked about different coaches that these guys played for. I was always really interested. In which coaches told you to stay or told you to go because they're guys that are really selfish about it but then there's other ways you know now it's it's out of control like no one. Stang but back then I was like well. What would say to you he goes? I'm not letting you come back. You're too good like you're too good. You have to get out of here and I know you know Ripa Tinos. Rep's is taking pretty big hits over the last couple of years but that was something that I was always really impressed with that. He just looked at like I was like. Did you want us? He's Kinda wanted to stay because mashes whole thing was like. He's a New York City guy and his mother wouldn't let him go to a school in New York City. He was telling me about some of the recruiting stuff like Saint. John's back then still would've thought they were getting Jamal Mashburn. And he's like my mother was like you're not you're not playing ball in the city. And then he goes on a Kentucky after Kentucky went through that that brutal stretch. And you know that's that's the game if you're thinking of one loss that you've had in your Phantom Bill. I'm trying to think maybe it's two thousand. Ten Celtics Lakers the one. That's things the most I don't know if it's game six eighty six in the mets. But that doesn't feel as bad since they've won four titles but if you're a Kentucky fan like that's the kind of that stuff comes up every day it's like Bucky Dent in the eighties for Red Sox fan just sitting at a bar. Mfn Bucky Dent on because later shot. Well the Kentucky did end up winning. I think it's probably worse for Mashburn Jerk Kentucky Fan. You had to tidal teams later in the decade. Because like Ben and I were watching. We went right from yesterday. We were watching that Kentucky game and then the Major League Baseball Network were showing the playoff game in seventy eight Yankees Red Sox and we watched the last like probably two and a half innings and I was explaining to him how the playoffs worked back. Then it was a gay. You played the whole season. It was two division champs in each league. They tied so we had to have a playoff game. And he was like Whoa. How did they decide? Who had it as like? I don't remember. I just remember like everybody from Boston to stay home that day. And we're watching it. He had no idea it was going to happen. And a living through the the remmy hits that shot to Pinella. Panella can't see any just jabs his jabs his mid out. I'm getting mad at George Scott all over again. I think he was my least favorite. Red Sox player just swing for the fences. Every time never never touched a ball early on that he was early. It was at the head of it. Yeah Jangle That was such an agonizing loss and they've won four world series since and it still really hurts Agata Sad. I don't feel any better from it. Yeah I I grew up hearing about it because you know that's where our our gap comes into play. Were still too young to but it was one of the first things like eighty two as my first sox game against brewers and I I just remember like the Bucky Dent thing like it was four years later and people still in them. I remember that we again emceeing. So if the way your brain store stuff early when there's nothing else in there so they allies kids we can always go back and remember anything. Because there's no distractions of real life. But I remember being upset after the fact years later. Just my father telling me that they blew the fourteen game lead and you just go. How is that possible? Like how? How could they have low like how they had the best team? And all these different things and again that stuff used a matter a lot more And Eighty six at all comes up again eight years later so we've seen over the last few days in especially ESPN and then Nba TV and emo but others channels. They're

Top Five Mark Wahlberg Movies: Say Hi to Your Mother for Us | The Big Picture

"Unfortunately this Shithole has more fucking leaks in the Iraqi navy. Fuck Yourself. I'm tired from fucking your wife. How's your mother good? She's tired from fucking my father. You have a job Tom. I'm a firefighter. Oh God bless you a hero. I'm not hero. We'd all be here. We could use the petroleum. No excuse me Christmas. Utah a lot of fucking money. What did you do? I mean if you take away nothing else for my class from this experience let it be this. If you're not a genius don't bother right. The world needs plenty of electricity and a lot of them are happy and they can help. It really can't be that we can always do. Better let me keep trying. If you guys keep trying I'm shawn fantasy and this is the big picture. A conversation show about Mark Wahlberg. This episode may break the all time record for big picture dissonance later in the show. I have an interview with Kelly. Reichardt the writer and director behind independent film classics. Like old joy. Meek's cutoff in the new film. First cow which might be the best movie of Two Thousand Twenty so far. I hope you'll stick around for that but I were joined by the frog. Sheriff Chris Ryan. I heard that Mark. Wahlberg actually dropped out of first cow. He was gonNA play the cow Alao. But you're already doing animal. Humor here on driver too is calling. Chris. You're here because you're a fan of Mark Wahlberg work. He's The star of a new movie. That is hitting Netflix. This Friday called Spencer confidential. I think gets his fifth film with Peterberg. The actor turned director of such films as lone survivor and deepwater horizon. This is a very strange movie but I think it's going to be a a very watched movie because the corona virus is scaring America into staying inside their house. And so I think that there's a potential for a lot of viewership of this movie. So we're talking about Mark Wahlberg one of the most resilient and persistent movie stars. I guess of the past twenty five years so let's just start with WHO is Mark Wahlberg. How did this happen? That Mark Wahlberg became one of the signature figures of movies in the twenty first century. I would not say I'm a fan of Mark Wahlberg as like I'm a I'm agnostic as a citizen. Yeah I would say that. I am very interested in the way that he has conducted his career. Which is kind of a weird throwback to a studio systems our he makes three to four movies every eighteen months somehow and just releases them at like a hugely prolific rate at. I'm fascinated by all the little pockets of his career that he has created where he repeats. You know he goes back to these little micro genres that he and he works a lot of people over and over again by the way he kind of has conducted his career to me is almost unique among Hollywood movie stars anymore. I mean most of the time when people achieve a certain level success. They just like see in three years for my next blockbuster or award fodder and he's just like nope. I'm grinding out. Family movie violent action film and then every once in a while Raunchy comedy and it's just like pretty pretty like unique among all Hollywood stars so I'm fascinated. What do you make them Amanda? I was fascinated when going back to you. Remember how many great directors he's worked with and how many actually excellent movies he's been in. Chris was asking me how much we watching I had to do for this podcast and the answer is a lot. Because I wouldn't say that Mark Wahlberg stays with me besides certain shots that will certainly be discussed on this podcast but he especially I guess in the first decade of this century just goes on a tremendous run. I really from Boogie nights on and works with a does a lot of really great movies and then kind of decides to just become like the Peterberg comedy guy in the second decade of the century. And I it's a really interesting shift. He just Kinda decides no. I'm going to do this now. And it's very fascinating to me I can't really make sense of. I also is Christmas talking about his efficiency. Just pulled up his daily schedule. Do you guys remember the days? Will he wakes up. Like four o'clock in the morning posted this on his own instagram typical daily scheduled to thirty. Am Wake Up. What don't you forty five prayer time. Three fifteen am breakfast. There's a lot of work work. He's golfing from seven thirty to eight. Which is the golf people? And there's a chamber recovery at nine thirty that takes more time than golf workout number two lunches and our so our meeting slash work calls also an hour and he goes to bed at seven thirty PM and which in Los Angeles for. I'd say six at least six months of the year. That is still broad daylight. Yeah Yeah Su. There is real efficiency baked into this. He's clearly very deliberate guy. He's making choices. And I think that pertains to his daily life and also his his career. There is clearly thought going into this. It's not a type of thought. I can access. I still don't know why you would wake up at two thirty and I don't know why you would do like five deep water horizons. There's a rumor that he has a routine. I think you. I'm speculating here. But I think he's a member of Wilshire Country Club here in Los Angeles. My husband told me this last night and he likes to play alone. He likes to play. And that's why he's playing so early in the morning and he's trying to get in like a quick nine or quick eighteen. I don't know five days a week which I'm who among? Us would love to do that if I could wake up before five. Am I would do it. I'll tell you I would love to do that. I'll tell you something else I am. I find golf to be social and I get crippled like when I play by myself. I'm like all the neurosis is creeping like. Should I take another shot now like it really playing golf? If you're not playing with anyone can just tell you. He's got three snacks on the schedule. Including one that takes an hour and a half from eight to nine thirty. Am is snack after seven. Thirty to eight am golf. Probably a euphemism. Oh Okay so you think. His sessions are ninety minutes. So you're saying to jump off something. Amanda said You know who? He reminds me of a bizarre way Cruz. Where it's like that run. Where cruises like I'll just work with Barry Levinson Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg and every great director at it seems like I'm just the most important factor in the whole world and then one day he wakes up and says I'M GONNA make action movies for the rest of my life? It's very unlikely though. I mean his origins restraints obviously member of this very well known family. He's from Massachusetts. He starts out as a a rap artist and ultimately becomes a Calvin Klein M. C. An. Mc Yes we watched the vibrations video. Recently I took my top five twenty two. Would you make of good vibrations? And and how did you feel about the funky bunch all these years later? It's just really bizarre that this was a thing that we lived through. Who is the funky bunch? I I still don't know who's in it. Were you in a Chris? Thought it was the backup dancers. I mean yes. That's who they were but like do you know anything about them and where they are now. I was pretty. Yeah I was pretty. I was pretty authentic back then so I was. I was already listening to deep deep newer. Grab I love talking about the early nineties with you. Can we talk about the Calvin Klein ads for a second really really important? You're almost put these on my list. And it's and my honorable mention boxer briefs. Yeah I was still a boxer sky back then that was not interested in the product. Would you just tear the ads out of the magazine? Crumpled them up and throw them in the garbage. I think that the those are the signature moment in his career without the advertising campaign he would not have become weirdly Tom Like sub Tom Cruise but he you know. He soared to a of fame on that ad campaign. They're just extremely important. Ninety s imagery obviously came as also in them. And that's where the whole K. Moss thing starts Them Hating each other. Great early celebrity feud they're very important that's all and also it looks great. I mean he and his image was of basically like a tough guy with a bad attitude whether that was true or not he obviously got into some altercations and his his personal history is pretty complicated. We're not gonNA spend too much time talking about on this show. But I think that he basically leveraged his complicated persona in the public into a movie career and if you look at the first few movies that he makes replays these kind of like weird intimidating Undeveloped YOUNG MEN. You know in the basketball diaries in. Ryen Russillo favorite movie fear And even in boogie nights. There's something like violently adolescent about his his persona which is very different from the kind of actor and movie star that he is right now so a lot of times. I think that we could. You could write like a series of essays about how much actors of his generation have attempted to mimic the kind of like rough and tumble blue collar upbringing. That Walberg apparently had like how how often like DiCaprio Damon or these guys have tried to be like no I'm Jim Carroll and he's just a function Carol I'm the real thing but it's weird like even in his authenticity. If you WANNA call it that he still lacks like any kind of emotional intelligence or psychological depth to portraying those things and you could write all these essays. But you could just watch the departed. Because that's what this does that. Do you need that from an actor? Do you need to feel like this person is like in control and has that depth that Chris was talking about? I think I do ultimately. I think that there is a reason that I gravitate to Matt Damon instead of Wahlberg. And I think that you not just because of the departed and the Boston. Bill will talk about that a lot as a comparison but I like I said I really remember a lot of Walberg performances. Even though he's been given a lot of great ones and I think that's because they have a I don't WanNa say surface level. That's unfair. They're actually a lot of depth but they aren't the emotional depths and I think I personally don't hang onto those. I think I'm always wondering how in command of the Ark of his career. He is because you pointed out he makes he's. I mean he's just been a lot of great movies a lot of movies that are going to stand the test of time and it always seems like he's being cast the way that a lot of young actresses or cast as the. Nayef as the like the naive and innocent who gets corrupted when put into a system and like did someone in a room. Say That to him. This is your lane man will early like you think so. Well I just don't think that he I think he's largely in charge of the movies that he makes. Now he's like. I think that the movies that we see our movies that Mark Wahlberg once made for the most part and my suspicion is the reason he made that transition. Amanda was referencing about just mostly doing action. Comedy movies now is because those movies are more fun and easier to make for him there either like a physical challenge there like a day on the set whereas making boogie nights as hard Russell Smart. Yeah I think that he is both like sinking very strategically as the schedule would suggest and also like not over thinking it i. That's the VIBE. I guess sometime at the end of the day he's going like it very much is what it is. He is a very Surface level or just immediate actor. That's that's what you're getting and so I think he wants. He gets to produce the movies himself and make the decisions. You just kind of like. Yeah action comedies. Got There before we get into our top fives and I think we should figure out what we mean. When we say top five if it's five performances or his top five movies because there's some complexity. There is a very strange celebrity. The the nine eleven thing is you're staring right at. It's just hanging over my head as I think about him as a public person. So in twenty twelve Walberg was quoted in a magazine interview regarding. What would have happened if he had flown aboard American Airlines Flight? Eleven on September eleventh. Two thousand one. He'd been booked on a flight on flight. Eleven but his plans changed the day before the scheduled flight and he cancelled his reservation. Walberg received public criticism for stating quote. If I was on that plane with my kids it wouldn't have went down like it did and there would have been a lot of blood in that first class cabin and then me saying okay. We're going to land somewhere safely. Don't worry Warburg apologized for those statements. But they're actually the sort of thing that kind of inform his public persona and when we watch him in an action movie. We think that he's the kind of guy who's like I would have kicked some ass on nine eleven which I don't know if you like complicates the quality of the films that he makes but I can't get stuff like that. Outta my head once I've read or heard about it and I feel like we've referred back to it even in a joking fashion over the years right. Yeah it is definitely one of the top three things that I think about. When someone says Mark Wahlberg schedule yeah nine eleven yeah and the last night of prosthetic but like you know. I'm human beings. It's the point of the movie full movie as leading to that so yes I agree. It's funny he is both. I think very funny as a comedic actor like entirely humorless and it's that some things he's in on the joke on some things he's just kind of being like no I would have save. I would have stopped nine eleven. Which is just a ridiculous thing to say. And that's the joke of Andy Sandberg's say Heidi Mother for me. Yeah you know portrayal of him is this is like he's kind of total rube but also not. There's something very elusive about. Whatever's going on with an entourage thing it's like. Do you watch entourage because you think it's completely ridiculous or do you watch entourage because you think it's like six awesome representative drama and I dare to say that Mark Wahlberg is like Yup? That's how it went. I you probably think you're right. Insulin entourage Ari comes on and it's really like Whoa but most but he's like that's accurate me. Like Vince is very much living my experience. He's like we should make a show about it. I think. I think that you guys are right. Do you think that this should be five performances or top five movies I choose? I don't know I don't know where I landed. I think I did I tried to be interesting here but I I wouldn't say that any of these performances leap out at me except for my number one and number two as like excellent performances. They're more like movies. I really like was he ever given a truly great performance. Yes I I think. There's one and a half great performances on this movie and it's just a half is the end of boogie nights. No no I. Well that might be the case now. There's another movie I still did performances but I think they are. They are a little bit also an award for the movie knowing how best to use him right. Okay well then let's get into it. Let's go into our top five Mark Wilbur performances slash movies number five Amanda. Why don't you start us off? This goes out to Bill Simmons and apparently to right who I still have never met. Hello Ryan. I'm going with fear. Why not whow revisit? Yes I did okay okay seen Djing

"An individual case. But it is treated by like this. It's just turned into this thing where a guy consecutive injury people are like. Why would he do that? Why would he come back? Why would he want to play? What is he a psychopath And it always gets back to like one of my favorite things about Garoppolo. Garoppolo was like. Hey you know what I'd like to do is be a quarterback football team and I'm telling you right now. Here's a pop quiz. What do you think Rob Lowe had more fun doing leading team to a super bowl appearance or sitting behind Brady? I'm GONNA guests the first one and I love my former partner Danny Canal but he was the only pro athlete. I've ever met that. Didn't want to actually play in Games. Ever and so he would always use his and that's what we do sometimes use our sensibilities to apply to other people's decisions and when the Garoppolo stuff was happening he'd be like why wouldn't you just take take the money and sit back and wait now like. I don't know I think probably by thirty he'd like to play in one fucking game. Maybe one so just remember that. Just remember that next time that you're thinking why would this guy come back? Why would why would you WANNA play? You actually wants to play play like what just remember that. Sometimes these guys actually really like it and it's all they've done their entire life so the other thing that I'm GonNa be hitting on this minute thing that it'd be doing soon. I thought the nineties. Nba players were really protective of their era. And there was a joke used. I'M NOT GONNA use it twice some. Try Not to repeat myself. I get older but you know. So far myself a C. minus on that one The guys that just retired are the most biased. Nba Opinions in the game. These guys are not Richard Jefferson destroyed. Tim Duncan the other day I can write down a list of WHO Kendrick Perkins loves and who he hates and he's never changing his mind and that doesn't make them that much different but most media but I'm just like for all the years of this guy never played the guys that did play. You will never deviate on an opinion against a teammate. Who you absolutely back. An opponent who it feels like you're constantly dumping on so that's a new thing. I'M GONNA start keeping track of this stuff and I will share it with you as far as the list of all the numbers that I did for that that as of NBA Verse Nfl Cap. Increase percentages quarterback contracts. Fake ones. Real ones It's going to have to be like four guest. Cancel on me before I share that for you. I'm just going to do. I'm just going to do a parental guidance sticker on that pot. And just this one's this one's for the real ones this is this is for the people that are still listening so. I'm not going to do that one today but I'll be with bill on Sunday. And then I have a really big guest lined up. It's going to be a media media. Sit Down I'M GONNA ask this person about their entire career. It may get personal. I'm going to try to make the Guy Cry. But that's the name I can't share with you yet. But the plan is to hopefully do that one next week. Is Everybody have a great weekend? Safe and please rate review and subscribe to the Ryen Russillo podcast on the ringer..

"I'm on the road to today's pod will be a little bit shorter than normal but we have buses different plan for you. Nba head coach of the Charlotte or chains. Borrego y you having him as well you know what despite the record. That team is really really competitive. I didn't think they had any chance to be competitive. Twenty Games and I didn't know that when seventeen maybe on the entire season so we're GonNa do that in closing moment there as I am like I said on the East Coast for undetermined amount of time but today's episode of the Ryen Russillo. Show on the ringer. Podcast network is brought to you by State Farm. Just like basketball. The game of life is unpredictable. Talk to a state farm agent get team. Who can help you navigate the unexpected like a teammate for the Dallas Mavericks last night all that helped defense coming over to help contains Iron Williamson's I overall number actually not Bab. You've watched the game and Dallas. I would say to this point. Probably do the Best Job Zayn than I've seen. It was a game that I couldn't wait to watch Luca Zion have. I ran back to my hotel to be able to catch that one and then it went late late East Coast Guy Now. Stand up late watching games but it was a lot of fun. Luca dribble on holiday was nuts but a trend that I continue to see more and more and Lucas had a few moments of it and Luca has no excuse for doing this but guys drive. They live in a lay ups and they're kicking it up to three. That can't be that can't be the plan but everybody's so three happy You'll just see guys drive in the. Actually it's like you've gotta finish that lay up as nominee kick it out to three. So you're seeing guys. It happens a little bit on that pocket passer even value where it's just a high screen role with its whatever. I'M NOT GONNA say one five combination because it's not always appoint garbage usually always the five where the big rolls off the screen and you'll see pass up an open layup just to make the past the five because I guess it's cooler. I Dunno weird weird things going on in the NBA with guys passing of layups over the place Save your mass. But not your math hats. Kyle do you have a math hat? Never did have one of those more of a history Haggai. Well played. Get a teammate. Like nephew kyle. Who can help you navigate the unexpected talk to a state farm agent today? Charlotte Hornets head. Coach James Borrego coach our today. Don't great thanks for having me so I'll I have a bunch of different things. I WanNa get you here today but I'll start confessing that when I was doing my preseason stuff and going through every team's roster doing all these things I went man this Charlotte team. I'm not sure and I know from the outside people could just say well twenty one hundred forty but if you look at the roster the beginning of the year I didn't. I didn't even know that I expected that you've played in sixteen three point games. You have a winning record in those close games. That's the most three point games in the NBA. Every time I watch you guys. It feels like you're competing in. You're in this. So how have you been this competitive? Which I actually think it's a compliment to you and so many young players. How is this happened? Well I appreciate it Yeah I think we've competed number one. I think we sit out in training camp saying let's go compete number one We knew what the the narrative into the outside world was saying about us but I wanted our guys really to focus in on competing number one every single night Come out compete now. You know every coach is saying that in training camp right. Everyone's coming in and saying. Hey let's compete so it's easy to say It's another thing to do it but our guys have really bought in And I think it's really started devante. You know the the surprise Devante. This season None of us expected him to come out the gates Playing the way he did So his development how he's played You know the time he spent in the gym this summer in the weight room It's been a major part of us Playing at this level. Now we're away from where we WANNA be but That was a major surprise for us. You know coming into the season so the emergence Devante and then tear has been a good fit next to one you know. I don't think anybody expected that the fit of Devante and Terry Together Obviously we thought Terry would be the starting point. Guard this season as we brought him in. But things change you know and as we sat down and we we watched Training Camp and we saw the first couple of games of the season Devante was emerging. Terry was playing well and I just say let's go for it. Let's play these two kids together and it's given us a real backward I think a true NBA backward. That is Solidified our team and got us to a place where we're much more comfortable right now. Then you look at our forwards you know between miles and PJ Starting with miles I think the last twenty gains twenty five games. He's really turned the corner. So versatile guy that's Has developed his grown gives us size and versatility on on the on the wing and on the perimeter at times and then you had TJ. You know we didn't know much about PG when when we brought him in here But he's stepped up as a rookie when we started this season. We didn't know what to expect. But I think he's been solid. I mean this is a this is a a player for us and knows the game at a high level. He's made big shots and I think to your point how we've been in these games you know. I think you look at our numbers in these clutch situations we've got the third best offense in the NBA. You know for this young group To be playing at this level has been a real surprise a real tree so third and offensive rating in Clutch Situations Thirteenth Defense and Clutch Situations Net rating seventh in the NBA. And you know we didn't expect that but we're gonNA take these guys have been poised in these situations we've made big shots may big plays So I'm proud of where you know where we're at where we're headed But I think just the emergence of devante Terry Miles Pj has really laid a foundation for us to compete and play hard. And I think we're only GONNA get better from here. Yeah I just want people to understand like this is one of those things like all year league pass. I'm like okay. What's close Charlotte's close again? Like wait a minute and then you know. I watched the Milwaukee game this past weekend. And you know you've PJ WHO's a first year Guy Miles second-year Guy Devante second-year guy. He's been around a little bit using the cody and Kayla Martin Combos who guys You know in sometimes you go with Zeller and I know beyond Bo was playing a little bit because you're trying to match up with the size because you've got brook in Janas staying in the game too close and it's still sort of this back and forth game and it looked like you guys went small like this isn't that usually this isn't supposed to happen and I guess the follow up to that would be. How different is it? Because you've been around a while you know with the Spurs with Orlando. How have you been able to like tell the difference because I imagine? Most you coaches feel like close games. The vets are just steadier in the young kids are going to screw it up. I was it flipped with this group. Like what is different about this group though. You're right when you watch. Nba Games at night. You know these close games. And there's there's some every night you probably ever watching a few last night and yeah. It's mostly veterans. That are getting you know getting these Games closed and and playing at a high level and I don't know maybe our young I just don't know any different you know. Maybe they're just too young and naive not to fill the pressure but most times. You know veterans are the guys closing these these situations out and young guys tend to freeze up they panic. They don't know timing score They panic and these moments in our group just hasn't done that. They've kind of flipped it the other way and we started this trend the end of last year. This team historically had a hard time closing out games. You know in the past and I think it's just one of those things we've been working on consistently the last two years are these situational moments and I. I give our guys a lot of credit because we spent a number of of minutes throughout our practices on these situations you know in the fourth quarter time score. What are we looking for here? And I'm not trying to over complicate it with our young guys. I'm giving them to three things to focus on as they hit into these fourth quarter situations and so far guys that stepped up. You know. Kay's hit big shots you know. He had big shots at Kansas. I think we saw that you know he's comfortable in those moments. Terry's been there before Carey's big shots for us. Tj's been the surprise. He's fourth quarters his ability his ability to step up and make big shots not feel the pressure has really been a a real bright spot for us and bridges to bridges and made big shots so Yeah maybe we just don't only different. Maybe we're just you know the pressure hasn't got to us yet. We just haven't even. Maybe the expectations aren't there. So we're playing a little bit more loose a little bit freer but as as you know in this league most times. It's a veteran guys doing that. You know it's not a young group young team doing that so That's been a major surprise for us but I think that's a good thing as we move forward that we have a poised young group. that's comfortable in those moments. You know only getting better and yeah. We are playing the youngest group since the all-star break I think we're playing the youngest group in the in the NBA all season. We're playing the second. Most I believe behind Atlanta first year and second year player. So we're playing rookies and second year guys and we're getting a ton outta them so I think we're in a good place. I we're much more competitive. Then I think most expected I think we're much more competitive in some ways than I even expected so I love it. I love competing with this group. We come out we fire away. We're not we don't shy away from the moment. We're not scared of any teams. We just go out. We play and I think the results are speaking for themselves. Okay this young roster. This is something I have to ask because we know that Michael Jordan essentially as your boss are there guys that are so young that don't quite know or didn't know once they started with this franchise? We're like yeah the sneaker guy I get he was really good everything but have you ever had that moment with a really young player because some of these guys are born after he retired so I wonder if there ever been a moment that's hilarious. You're like you guys not understand. Who who were? We're talking about here. Yeah I agree I I. I think they know the brand. I'm not sure they. They know the player you know. I don't think they understand that the type.

"Will it go so podcast heavy that somebody will in five years be able to say. Hey you know it'd be nice is a live audio lineup. In real time as news half I I think there will be a pendulum thing. I think is is heavy as podcast. Thing is the live reaction thing of daily lineup is not gonNA LISTEN TO PEER I. I've heard people say before it's like you know when people say stuff dies I did. Stop Reading I stopped getting a newspaper delivered my house. I did like I did. It was just an it would be in the yard. I lived in Portland. It would be all wet. I'm like this and I used to live for the sanction. Now is a plan. I Grab The New York Times. The Wall Street Journal I go on a plane. I sit and I read it and that's what I love about Delta Sky Club as I go. I grabbed Buna misled. I do never read it but in my bag but radio. I've never given up on. I listened to it every day or audio. I listen all the time and people are like. Oh you listen to will cain I go yes I like will. I don't always agree with him. Yeah does too many cowboy segments but I like the guy even if I disagree with him on this stuff because I still. I didn't get when I left. It was a exhale it was like. Oh so I. You are better every day in and out as much as I've disagreed with you over the years and that's not what matters. "Who can and help you navigate the unexpected talk to a state farm agent today so today is different and everyone knows why the tragic death of Kobe Bryant on Sunday A and normally? This is always the Chris. Long Ryen Russillo show and we'd put together the side the of doing some kind of off topic things just didn't feel right today and we're going to go ahead and just do a straightforward super bowl podcast. That's GONNA come out on Wednesday. I'm headed out of Miami late. Tuesday night I get in really really late Wednesday morning most so I'll be there for a few days. He's doing some of the ringer stuff and That's the plan will have one more. PODCASTS will have three this week scheduled for the Ryen Russillo show. Today's game plan Mike to Rico who called Kobe's Kobe's final game is going to join us in. ESPN's reentering that final game at nine eastern. And we're GONNA talk with Bobby Marx who was in the nets front office and and was sent out on a scouting assignment to watch high school. Kobe Bryant Before that draft in Nineteen ninety-six. But I'M GONNA start with this week's open the Kobe story. Sorry is unbelievably sad. It's tragic. It's all of those things and I'm sad probably like a lot of your sad where it's it's an awful all story I didn't know him I interviewed him. I think once and it was compel and that was really the only reason we got him kind of a fun little back and forth and and you know everybody processes stuff differently and I do think that you know being sad on on TV radio. I mean that's the way you feel. It's the way you feel and it's and it's not that I'm sad. I just wanted to do something a little different in talk about him in historian kind of the three part deal where it was him at the beginning him as the player and then him at the end of his career. And and you know. It's one of those deals. Where every one of us you listening right now? Kobe fan or not a Kobe Fan. You're going to remember where you were when when you got that news because I got a text from somebody the screen shot. TMZ Kobe Bryant Dad helicopter crash. And I'm like no way no way not Kobe Bryant. That's this guy's invincible. Like that's not gonNA happen. It's like that line from Donnie BRASCO. Where they're like? How does John Wayne Die? That doesn't happen and so as the news filtered through the day A and you're wherever you are and it probably stalled you a little bit And you don't have to be a father to feel terrible about all the news that kept coming hang out learning more and more about him losing his daughter the other families involved Just awful it goes without saying I mean every one of us and we have a really weird thing in this society where we can be Really vicious but we also are incredibly compassionate were immediately compassionate and almost almost overwhelmingly so and so you know most people are sad today. I don't I don't think that's that's necessarily breaking news but I remember the first time I heard about Kobe and this is really what I wanted to focus on today and I remember the first time I heard about him because I was a huge draft guy. Even when I wasn't a draft guy I was just a kid in college. I was twenty years old in Nineteen Ninety six and I love the NBA draft. For whenever I can I remember. I don't even know why you know I would get the newspaper and then I would write it out in my little notebook. I'd write down all the picks in order when I already had it right there in the newspaper but I just like doing it so I just always loved the draft okay. The draft is my favorite day of the year. It just I love it and when Kevin Garnett came out of high school the year prior the Garnett story was who does this guy think he is right like he can do this. A lot of very outdated things things. Things became immediately wrong. I would say at least halfway through Garnett's for a season you know what it would have been ascended not let this guy play in the NBA. Right Way He was the first high school guy to do. The jump happened a long time. There have been a handful of others that had done it if you go back to the pre NBA Aba merger basically the reason the NBA change their early withdrawal rules or there early entry. The draft rules is because the ABA was ahead and do it and in the NBA before they they lightened up the rules the NBA had a thing where you actually had to apply apply for a financial hardship waiver to leave college early. Even do it and if you think that way like without that's ridiculous like hey we're broke broke. Well how broke. Are you prove how broke you ought to be able to come into the MBA. And then it's always a lesson in life like in the seventies. You may have been if you were. You know where you're at. Now Oh consciously you may have just thought well okay that makes sense because that's just the way it was always done and so in Garnett made this jump was who's this guy think. He is and then when Kobe did it. It was entirely different and information didn't just move slow and nineteen ninety-six. It didn't move. It was incomplete and all I knew about Kobe was what I read. The first time might heard about him and that was really leading up to the draft. And it's like wait a minute. A perimeter player a six six six five guy. Yeah I know. His Dad played in the pros for eight years but this guy is going to go into the NBA BA draft. Like it's one thing when big do it it's one thing. "Is it unpredictable that the Pacers continue to win games put up a really nice record without depot. Well that should be predictable. Actually did it last astor. After he went down nothing. They were great playoff team. 'cause they weren't scoring options but as they continue to navigate through this eastern conference that is better with a nice win against Denver. They still have done it without all the depot although he should be back soon get teammate. Just like all the depot who can help you navigate the unexpected talk to a state farm agent today today Chris Long can you believe that the old depot part of this was not even in the read. I mean that was a that was an ad Lib there but I wanna I WANNA shout Malcolm Brogdon president. Yeah there you go waterboy. Why isn't part of water voice to? Yeah Yeah Virginia Guy hoops to President President He's basically running the clean water initiative side of our thing in the NBA. So yeah and he's balling in Indiana right. Because I haven't been watching so forgive me. No it's okay. If he's got now they've been doing doing really well. This is this is. This is pretty exciting stuff speaking of everything that we get through this exciting before we even get to it. I was lucky enough to go on the livestream show with The C- bill crew. Yesterday what did you have with chuck media coming up this week. Lucky WHO'S A. I think we're lucky to have you. There were some you know. Some of the people watching the live stream wanted some historical context on war generals. I know we're gonNA talk about Some some wartime wartime activity. Today they WANNA have Ryen Russillo on the line that's right yeah so We will review nineteen seventeen so the people want to be in on the George Washington stuff for now because they wanNA know they WanNa know what you know about George Washington and you were able to clear up some some Some of the stuff that we were wondering about and it was great. Having you on talking football talking to history we got Two pods coming up this week as usual and probably won't do any live watches this weekend. 'cause there's nothing going on but But you know check out our youtube channel where we got cooking. Got Some Kilimanjaro stuff. Actually Kelsey Bo Al.. In a number of guys I did interviews with on the mountain last cheer when I took a bunch of guys up Kelly we would stop outside the tents. If guys weren't dead tired and I do an interview. So we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA air some that previously unreleased stuff. Okay sounds good so make sure you check that out. Chalk media with Chris Long and all of their guests okay. So this is the plan. I teased it a bit here and we both saw nineteen seventeen. Recently we WANNA review that I have all sorts. A notes inherits his faces a death. VHS We also have Tom. Brady's Brady's future is conjunctiva underrated. Although you know what you're worried about Pinkai because could it be that you know. Somebody's GonNa text us or send a note to the show being like you have no idea how devastating you know pink. I can be in in parts of Canada. You know what is conjuncture devices. Is that Hank in guy. Yeah okay never called it the. I always worry about that. When I'm changing a diaper and like You know get some baby You know yeah I know we get it. I think we understand eventually. You scratch your eye at some point in the day and from everything I know from the movies. That's how you get pink eye. Yeah or outbreak. Doc you're on a plane with a disease monkey and next thing you know whole towns are getting quarantined and good luck. Good luck checking out your town trans on Zillow. Once you have a disease monkey running around you know what I mean. I got a three bedroom. Here maybe seventeen hundred square feet. You know it's it's near the schools rules good facility. But if there's if there's an outbreak in Manhattan beach the yeah. The property value goes way down. So yeah I think an outbreak I've read that Manhattan and beeches even outbreak proof. Is there like what is it only. There's only so many lots and there aren't any nuanced. That's the way to drive the price up right. That's in the events apocalypse callups. That's why like hey man they're not going up all right okay. So that's what happens. The start of a football podcast when you have these two conference championship games. That are for for the most part of them and say the first half of chiefs titans kind of boring and before we go back and recap all this stuff because I actually do like this Sunday more than then the divisional round which I know no one agrees with I. I've looked back and thought like those back to back games. Sometimes the best. You still have the home field part of it. So it's not really the Super Bowl but now that it's nine yes and chiefs for the first time in fifty years by the way which seems crazy that had taken this long for this team to get back to the Super Bowl? At first glance I quick quick reaction as the Super Bowl matchup before we go back and kind of talk about what happened to the Games. Well you somebody made this This point on our group text last night. Imagine if it was you that imagine if the chiefs were in a big market how ugly would have gotten at different junctures over the last fifty years it is. It is me last night on the group tax because does Kansas City is consistently praised as maybe the destination gotTa Look Green. Bay's up there. You know being a New Orleans for an NFL game is different than other NFL cities. There are some great NFL cities. I think the titans have a really good one with with how they treat that team in Nashville. New England's always weird. Because it's not Boston Austin but yeah foxborough shows up but you know. They're obviously spoiled. It's almost like Alabama a little bit but I think if you took people that would remove their biases from this. They would say Kansas City's Kinda one of those places that you want to go to the model franchise but if they were in a harder media market this wouldn't be. Wow how they got there. Fifty Years One hundred year anniversary of the NFL season. What a great way to tie it? All together Lamar Hunt Trophy to the hunt family. Like all those things are really good things. But if that's a New Yorker worker Chicago or Boston that franchise would be getting crushed way more regularly. Then they do their their applauded for the drought where others patties. There's no way it would be covered this way and I'm not saying it's a negative like hey let's be more negative about the chiefs. I'm not doing that. I just think it's a very distinct difference with the way that marketplace plays out. Now it seems like hey listen everything about Kansas City. Seems Awesome I've always said this. It might not be in my opinion the loudest stadium. I know people are going off the by the way I love the decibel thing that comes up during the game. It's like rock concert. One hundred decibels conversation rock sixty decibels. I'm like also a a rock concerts. Only two conversations or like that doesn't make sense to me anyways. I think Seattle is louder but as far as the stadium scape I know we do. Cityscapes cityscapes after a big play. If you Pan Arrowhead Stadium. It's about as beautiful as any place in the cold like yesterday when the sun went down and when you play and and it's like five degrees and the shadow hits the field you know you've got the sun through to three quarters in that shadow hits the field. That's where I thought that Tennessee was going to impose their will so Because I thought they were built for the cold. Throw that out the window They really impress me. Kansas City yesterday answering the bell and the Super Bowl is going to be awesome. I mean it's the most expensive secondary market of all time for tickets. I think they're going for like six grand. I think part of that has to go has to do with. The fact is Miami but these are two teams. That are flon on like you know I I would count. The pats Eagles Super Bowls Fun. I would count you know alanna. New England is fun but played in those and I was talking to somebody yesterday. Said this is the first pursue bone wild. It feels really fun and it is. I mean you've got analytics football I think Meenakashi brought this up. You had analytics football. One side You know meeting Eating Smash Mouth Football and the other and you know it's the most pass happy and run happy team respectively in the League. So it's this kind of cool clash of styles but even the run on stuff isn't boring like Shanahan's found a way to keep this new age crowd engaged because every play it's jaw-dropping design and you know they've made blocking cool everybody on the team blocks. I mean deebo blocks kiddle blocks. I mean. Obviously that's been Kennel blocks his ass off. We all know it by now. They run traps on third and eight for like thirty yards. I mean they do things differently But it's so different that it's interesting and I think this is going to be a lot of fun. I think the over unders like fifty four. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for like sixty. Kansas City's favor by a point. You've got the D Ford story line You know last year kind of blew it for. Kansas is a city this year he could effectively blow up blow it for Kansas City again. So there's a ton a story lines and then Andy Reed's back. He's got a feel good about his weapons compared to what he hadn't in in Oh four I think it was. You Know Teo had a broken ankle and had a bunch of other guys that most people haven't heard of like Pinkston Greg Lewis Freddie Mitchell. Now he's got hill walk INS Hartman Kelsey Chelsea. He's got to feel pretty good about so it's GonNa be a lot of fun. Yeah all right so I mean if we're going through and we're recapping everything the San Francisco non passing passing part of this is the biggest story at least from the two games for me It felt like social media. Once Kansas City had one possession was down ten nothing. They're like here. We go at Tennessee. And I'm at home home watching it and then kind of watching how it's playing out to going. Can Kansas City. Get the ball a second freaking time before we write them off in their own stadium here and Mahomes says that rushing touchdown at the end of the first I have to get the ball back. And there's there's a few little things there but it just didn't really feel like at any point that I was scared for Kansas City Before the playoffs started before the season started it was Philadelphia and Kansas City in the super bowl in Philadelphia. Had its issues before the playoffs started this kind of what I thought. It was going to be a pick San Francisco against Kansas City. Here in this one on but then on the other side for the niners I agree with you. Running thing like I don't notice the way you notice it when I see us. Check coming in on a fullback blocked to the right side. But it's actually a a A run to the outside of the tight end to the left and then US check after showing that he's GonNa hit maybe between the garden a tackle he comes back around like he's going to clean. Lean up the edge fakes inside for block to get outside a block. Somebody else and you're going. This stuff is crazy. Because if there's anything you're ever taught sprawled fullback follow full by the ball is going to be there. And they sent the full back to two different positions before he ultimately like was going to where he was designing the block and San Francisco went twenty four game minutes without Garoppolo throwing a pass an hour and a half ninety real minutes where you're watching that game being Garoppolo hasn't had to pass and they had needed to and maybe it against Green Bay team that I think is worth getting to for a little bit here. You know Shanahan going through some of the post game stuff..

Matthew Polly on 'Bruce Lee: A Life'

"Talk Bruce Lee with Matthew polly. The book is Bruce Lee. We live by Matthew polymath. UGALI joins US now. I love this book I knew I was GONNA love it. I love your story which I wanNA share with our listeners. At the end of this. Because you're about is unique it guys. It gets But Bruce was somebody is I've seen in in some of your lectures who became more famous. This guy's pursuit of fame and fortune. which was clearly a driving driving factor in his success unfortunately he died before he understood the iconic status that he would reach Although that was starting to happen certainly back home and then and carried over over here so just to set it up for the listeners. Bruce Lee born November twenty seventh nineteen forty in San Francisco which I know will surprise. People his father was a theater performer. A comedic actor with his own amazing story where he was singing outside of a restaurant and some travelling theatre groups saw him and then took him in and he traveled with them His background ground isn't the one hundred percent Chinese. As you mentioned you had a Dutch Jewish grandfather which chain who changed his name so that was kind of hard to figure out. I know for years. There's people thought he was a German descent as well. That was not the case. It's actually English in that led to a bunch of problems that he was not a hundred percent Chinese but he was a child star. Matthew and I think that's kind of the foundation of for those of us that didn't understand it. His father was a performer and Bruce's a performer. For a very long time at a very young age twenty films by the age eighteen eighteen. How much do you think that kind of set up his own aspirations for himself once he started travelling going back to the United States? I think that's the key I found in researching the book because the image of Bruce's this martial arts master who kind of accidentally gets into movies. It's almost as if he's the real person onscreen as opposed to an actor playing characters and when you realize that. His first appearance was when he was three months old and his career starts in earnest at six. And you see him play all sorts of roles that have nothing to do with Kung Fu movies. You realize that. He was an actor following in his father's footsteps and in many ways I think he was driven by that kind of Eto Eto conflict to outdo his father who was quite famous in Hong Kong when he was growing up it. was you know anyone that's trying to do this. This kind of stuff to become famous right. Hey I wanna be a big movie star. You have to be wired a certain way and him having that kind of success early on and he was actually like would incorrect me at any point throughout this offer anything but he was he was starting to have some major roles there where he was he was a star so I think he wants. He goes to the United States. We're going to into here. It's almost like look. I expect to have the same level of success as observed may have sounded at that time. That's right I think it gave him a real confidence confidence and some would say arrogance that he was somebody who was sort of fawned over from a very young age he was on said everyone. Buddy was cute. You know by the time. When he was ten he was he started in a very successful movie then? His career took a little bit of a dip but the last film Within the orphan was a huge huge hidden was the first film that ever played in an international film festival. So Bruce Lee thought of himself is an important person. He was a celebrity in Hong Hong Kong and so when he came to America he didn't feel like somebody. Just knock off. The boat was desperate to like just survive. He thought he should be a big deal here. Too Who and I think he needed that because the kind of racial barriers face were so high and it'd be hadn't had that kind of fundamental competence. He never would have achieved what he did so before he leaves for the State's he's in school. He's a terrible student. But and I cannot express this enough in you. Hammer it in the book and this is something that I kinda like. This was not some fake martial arts guy that maybe we grew up with in the eighties. Nineties that Bruce Lee was legitimate streetfighting. Getting bad ass. That would fight anybody. And he was training Would would not necessarily different styles. It was more traditional styles in it mon who was somebody who would become famous himself or was famous at the time. I people didn't want to train. When can you share with us? Just how real of a Guy Bruce was and that when he was much more concerned with fighting almost anyone who wanted to fight him even if he wasn't winning more than he was trying to be a student some pretty boy on on film. That's right. Hey what's interesting is from a very young age. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder and he was the kid who was always going around saying you you got you got trouble with me like he was starting fights he wasn't this wasn't self defense. This was self offense and the only reason he took up martial arts is because he got into so many street fights he finally found the guy who was better than on him and this guy studied under if mon the style of Wing Tongue and Bruce Lee only took it up because he wanted to be better than the guy who had beaten him and a fight because he couldn't couldn't stand the idea that he wasn't the Best Street fighter in the neighborhood and so- martial arts him with simply an extension of streetfighting. It wasn't the other way around. He wasn't bullied kid got picked on and started studying martial arts the kind of classic tale that we're all sympathetic to. He was a genuine sort of rough around the edges. Tough Guy who'd like to start things off and martial arts. was an extension of his sort of aggression And in fact he was so aggressive that the only reason he ended up going to the states wants because the police were going to arrest him. If his parents didn't do something about his constant streetfighting yet did he. Did you know that there's different pieces of great going through stuff and then reading the book and like man. Bali really cleans it up as much as you possibly could. But did he was he actually was was there a hit on him from the triads for beating up like the son of a gang member. That's yes I think that the story that One of his friends from a high school tells Unfortunately that friend tends to tell tall tales And he's the only one who says it so I think what happened was that he he beat up somebody who was important but not a try at number because in general tried members settle things themselves. They don't go to the police for so Basically a he beat up the kid of a well to do family who didn't have access to thugs to sell it themselves and so they went to the police. Did he pull a knife on teacher he did. He had a teacher the PE teacher used to when they were running around the track would take a along we'd essentially long switch grass and switch the kids on the back of the legs if they were going to slowly And it hurt. And and they didn't like it but Bruce Lee brought a switchblade in his pocket his shorts and one day when the teacher whipped him he turned around. Flip the blade open and charge the P.. Teacher who immediately ran away and Bruce Lee was chasing across the field the PE teacher with a knife in his hand so this isn't like like he was kind of a bad boy. This is the genuine article. Yeah absolutely so nineteen fifty-nine he goes to the states he graduates I believe a technical high school. He enrolls in Washington Drops out not immediately from from time. Line that I have. But but what was going on with him kind of his his moved to the United States his thoughts. I know he's working in a restaurant but now he's practicing martial arts arts and he's kind of entering that first whether or not people thought it was bullshit not because I think there's some real truth in the book where it's like. At times he could have been a little annoying with his philosophical Stuff but he's clearly figuring himself out to these transitional years before we get to kind of the Hollywood chapter and understanding how important he is a martial arts. Yes so what's fascinating about. His story is when he got to America he he he had that kind of instant. Almost instant immigrant turnaround story. Where he he decides? I want to be a success here. The way my life was going in Hong Kong was bad Leading towards the dark place. How can I change this so so? He didn't become a student but he came a much more dedicated student. He got into the University of Washington. He Fell in love with philosophy And took that up as one of his main interests But I think the more important thing was he because he came from Hong Kong. which at that time? It's not a major film industry with basically like the Nigerian film industry like it was popular in the region but no one else watched their films. He never thought thought it was possible to be an actor in the states and so he decided that the way he was gonna make a living in America wants to teach Kung Fu to everyone in opening sort of chain of Kung Fu Kinda CTO JOE's across the country to be the Ray Crock of Kung Fu and so it was at the University of Washington where he realized he could get Caucasian students interested in signing up for his classes and that made him sort of the first. I come through instructor to teach a kind of non Chinese audience. And that's what's interesting is that he mentally gave up the idea of being an actor for about four or five years but it ended up catching up with him anyway so for awhile. All he thought about was martial arts and martial arts instruction and man that led him to rejoin his acting career. There's some really revealing stuff about how ahead of his time. He was when you think about nutrition. The exercises working with weights. I mean this is somebody who was was as wiry sinewy as as you I can imagine is as far as his physique but it wasn't all genetics like he was eating these basically smoothies before they were called smoothies. Right like peanut butter bananas eggs even raw hamburger meat and he would just drink these things and he was doing all sorts of exercises working with dumbbells. Concentrate like at this point. It feels like this is when he's deciding that whatever I'm going to be. I'm going to be physically tuned as perfectly like he feels like the first of the closest thing we have to an actual superhero as he's learning his craft in obviously supplementing with everything that he can get his hands on that he thinks is healthy for him. which again felt like very? Maybe you could say it's the sixties a lot of people doing that kind of stuff but at least reading this stuff. I'm like I feel like I see these posts from girls doing dead lifts on Instagram all the time and he was doing and sixty. That's right well what what's interesting is. It was such a niche thing in America the sort of weightlifting craze and some of the magazines that were the equivalent of say muscle and fitness at that time. But Bruce who's instantly gravitated towards those and it would have been easy. You know took thirty or forty years before that overtook American culture in general But at that time time for such a small group of people who are into protein shakes vitamins but bruce immediately gravitated towards I think partly because he grew up. He almost died as a a a baby During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong and so he grew up physically more frail than the other boys and this it's always bothered him and I think he saw this as a way to make for a childhood deficit but then clearly he realized something that no other martial arts at at the time realized. which is this kind of weightlifting? Regimen could really enhance your skill level. in the same way that athletes of that era didn't lift weights alert. Do any of the things that they do now and so he was really kind of on the cutting edge of the modern

Clippers’ comeback leaves LeBron’s Lakers with plenty of Christmas regrets

"Mantras ends up on Lebron and then you come back down quite got the ball and now Danny Green's on them. And then the Lakers run a screen with pope where I think heartless was on Pope or something and they ended up getting Switzer. They could get Lebron going at beverly and again like I said. These weren't transition matchups. And at that point I'm like all right stop. Stop doing this Because this isn't this isn't fun anymore. later on in the game you know it was a Anthony Davis trying to go at mantras. which didn't really hurt the clippers? He hit a jumper. He missed another jumper. They did an awesome out of time out thing that will get you on this time. Now we're Vogel Got Mad. and He kinda called like another quick second time out where he got mad about something they did and how they were defending Kuwait going to his right off that horn stuff and The the Dow time out play was incredible but it was a lot of straight. Anthony Davis. What can you do against mantras again? Find Clippers pass that test and then it was Paul George defending ending Lebron straight up and it. It wasn't terrible but you know it's not something you do even with Paul George at his length and everything. You're not GonNa just let that happen George actually Lebron did get it going after starting. Oh a seven from three and then you look at the closing groups. The Lakers went. Beverly Shamet George. Kawhi by mantra as the Lakers Rondo Green. Lebron Anthony Davis after Lakers went with their accuse me the clippers went with their closing group at eight minutes left The Lakers brought in Davis at seven. Twenty Dwight was still in. But then this is the thing to always look at. Okay wait a minute. This was a game against maybe their best opponent they went with. Anthony Davis the five with those five minutes to go. Oh and I mentioned all of those matchups they're a little bit earlier The outta time out was awesome. It was a hand off where it was like a ball reversal van. Gundy mentions handoff. Lebron gets at the AD slips screen donkey. We go and I'm watching this expecting the whole time. Davis is going to go off. This is GonNa go off and it didn't really happen Offensively for what the Clippers did they WANNA WII really good post where I have these concerns where I go as Lou Williams holding the ball a little too much when you have George and cold out here with two minutes to go to close in a close game like what are you doing any the answers both. Yes and no because there was one possession where you looked like he was gonna run it down to the clock where he had Lebron on. 'EM EYESO- no help and I'm Mike is just going to go with Lebron and not let anybody else touched the ball here. Because I don't know that I love that despite loose scoring prowess But they didn't do that coadjutor. Really good post position coming from the right block to the left block and got fouled by Danny Green it was good foul you got fouled again. He hit all of his free throws. And that's really kind of what happened in this game. Is that the clippers. Made their last sixteen free throws throws and the Lakers didn't really know what they wanted to be. They they just kind of went one on one match ups and the shots didn't go in and it's very important though after after the Lakers get the ball back with shacklock off down three Lebron's going at beverly. I almost didn't have this in the notes and I just double checked here by the way I looked at it and go. Okay you know. Are they going into the clippers. GonNa foul. They're up three. They don't Lebron had a hard time. Kinda getting free a beverly beverly got his body right into them. Am I mean that guy's unbelievable defending bigger guys not that he's GonNa shut down Lebron but he did on that possession and he blocked a shot and my least favorite review in sports is is when the Guy Swipes at the ball out of your hands like science on the Super Mythbusters Slow Motion Cam is gonNA show. The ball usually always getting like be out out of the shooter's hands last. But the intent of what you would always call was. Okay if you have the bond somebody swipes it out and it just happens to be that a molecule. Your pinky is the last thing to touch. It's the ball. I could still off the other guy I I bet there's people listening to this that are disagreeing with me saying that it's it's it's better this way. It isn't better this way. It sucks this way. And and I'm the furthest thing from really being a fan of either team so has nothing to do with it. I just don't think that that's really. What the spirit of the rule is and I know they reversed it and they called it out? That's your ballgame But I I hate it I hate it

"Push so I mentioned this last week but will do it with you. Because you're making fun of Solo activities. The stuff you like to do. I was dragging a little bit this morning. I don't know if it's it's just another night in a hotel didn't do anything went to Italy. Big easily fancy just hop from different stations to stations and start crushing different. Italian food came back here. watch the rest of the game but yeah. I got a little disturbing this morning at the gym. So that was good. He woke me up a little I'll admit to a bigger fan end of a sailor's guide to Earth than sound fury and then You know who got me going this morning a little bit too Chris. I don't know what kind of approval rating I'm assuming high but a little tyler. childers tyler but you know my biggest pet peeve is when people are like oh you really should check out tyler and Mike now. Yeah they tour together but the music is totally different and also I already have been to a toddler concert. So you're not some fucking country hipster. I know exactly who you're talking about. All Jorn is an unbelievable song. I was I was Really on that today. And so I don't think they're even close. I think that Tyler I'm not saying I'm not like listen. There's no secret secret. I love sturge and stapled in. I might have respect for his bell and and Tyler just because they're loosely under the same genre doesn't mean it's the same music and that's what annoys me is like just tyler is open for surgical doesn't mean I think they would tell you that their music is not similar rage against the machine and Wu Tang toward together so so there you go. Yeah so hey if you raise you should definitely check out Tang different. Sounds like to me when people try to spotify genius everybody that's loosely under the same genres surgical. I feel like I struck a nerve just now i. I didn't even mean to do that. I didn't mean to do that at all I got I got a lot of music pet pet peeves. I sat next to the Celtics. I knew when I sat down I was by myself that I was GonNa get made fun of especially since we've talked about it but I was courtside there for a while and then your boy cannon Hanan came by. I almost said hello to him to say that I was friends with you but I didn't I didn't know if he had tickets or if they were his stick. I'm kidding I know they're his tickets. You gotta get him to sit down on the bowl and then you run pass them. But here's a big man so next time you see him. Stick along arm in there right in the chest see if he leans on it and then just dip breitbart him. I'm definitely going to do that. I'm going to try that next time. So we went to A couple of different spots. I hadn't been out in Southie and forever and and that didn't last very long so I went home and then there's a new spot called Marielle. It's Kinda these spot in Boston right now. So shot up to those sky's thanks for having US and major comeback for you sitting alone and then any of these spot yes yes it was a big. It was quite a forty eight hour swing to be at a table and so basically it comes out of this. There is a crew apparently run to the streets of Boston. That are like older guys that have a ton on a money. One may or may not be rocking Fedora. And the guy was like giving me the scouting breakdown on these dues. They're just out all the time and they they have like merchant stuff and I don't I don't really know like if you're if you're forty or fifty and you run into a ton of money and maybe you didn't go out that the time to do it or is new money slash rush new social scene older guy the worst thing in the world. Yeah Yeah I think I think you gotTa pick your spots when you're north of a forty. Listen when I was in Charlotte last week me as the thirty four year. Old Man who I think is has aged decently well Got Got told I was old to be in the bar by By Dude and I was like so you're at my table. We paid for the bottles here. You got to go over there so when your paycheck gets a little older are you. Can you can sit with us. But I do think for older guys have to pick your spots. It's all about the establishment. There's there's some really nice transitional bar lounges that you can make hay at as a dude north of forty. But you don't you don't want to be at the club that's my only only thing. Just steer clear the club. Also the Fedora thing it reeks of Of New money reeks of bad business. Plans now. I've worn a couple the hats that were questionable in my time. And you know I've I've worn hats. I've done the hat thing. But when you're forty something and you're at a bar with a bunch of people younger than you leave the Fedora. You're at home so you're saying that I shouldn't even be in this place at my age. There's there's a little bit of the celebrity and you're going to be like I'm a celebrity. Yeah you're celebrity man you know especially Especially especially in Boston You know people consume your content. So when you're in a place like this I do think that you get a little bit more leeway also you you can dress down and like you don't dress like you're in your forties a lot you know like like you and that's not a bad thing like you've found a way to pull in some thirty something in your old influences from a fashion standpoint. You know you've got the joggers showing some ankle. That's in right now. You were Jordan. Still which I'm not really into that I. I could do without that to be honest with me doing it just in general. I'm just not any when you're north of forty maybe you know the Jordan's they have have to go back on the shelf. Maybe some new balances for me or something. I don't know Socrates so how you say that brand Salkin. Can you get a five K.. Tomorrow Yeah I just just I. I'm not saying listen. I'm going to get I know I'm going to get crushed on this but but I like the honest to your fortieth birthday. They just take a little self inventory and say am I still Jordan's guy. I think it's a really fair point I do I. I think it's a fair point although it really makes me because I know what you're you've allowed yourself self to go to but I know what tier of how you WanNa go to that you won't let yourself go to and I'm thinking the next time you come to Manhattan beach. I may just not. I'm going to not say anything you'll know but I may go outdoor the entire night and we can't the rule is you can't say I'm doing it to mess with you and then I just can't be Dick Tracy Fedora Bro. Like you WanNa be day drinking in Manhattan beach with like a tweed hat. I don't even know what to classify these hats as we all know the shapes. That are not okay. I Love I. I know you're tight with one of the works a workaholic skies but when you know each other we just do your mom jokes online all day. Anders right I love. Yeah Yeah they have an episode were Blake like I think Blake and Adam both have FIDORA's on and they're like what are you doing. There's only like each crew can only have one fedora guy like you're totally against the rules. It was such a great joke I mean no but it's true. You can't have double fedora. You can't have you. Can't you have two guys I never wanted to be The oldest guy and I now become the oldest guy but I also don't I don't really know what to do. I'm Kinda Kinda stuck in this in between between thing so because I was checking out this other oldest guy which in Boston if you're old in your out it's like a city that doesn't allow that you know 'cause younger early younger guys will tell you like your old. What are you doing? And that's once I started traveling everywhere I was like. Oh maybe being over thirty isn't a death sentence in other cities he's like. This is amazing. Like wow I'm in Denver and you can talk to people I will say if you're older and you're in a place like that chances are because you're stimulating that economy and to those younger guys. I would just say just be happy. We're here just be happy. Somebody can swipe a card and not having Zayed's hand the card over 'cause I've had that happen to me to look look at me swiping his card right. This is a mature bankroll. Yeah right we get it you just got out of college and you're shooting your wad on this night out at this Trendy Lounge orange but you know maybe this group of five forty four year old dudes all just got divorced. They had they have merch. They need to be out. I just think ditch the Fedora and dress it down a little bit. I do think this though but I'm not divorced. Is that if I did get divorced at like forty and married at like twenty. I think that might be the most reckless male species on the planet. 'cause that guy like especially if he was not the reason why like is if she left him or something. I think a good two year run of screwy. Rules is almost acceptable. Yeah but I don't know if you're not if you're not the cause of the disintegration of your marriage yes yeah have add it you wear Fedora. I don't care okay all right well good. I'm glad we got to all that stuff Yeah make sure you check out. Chuck Media Chris Long at Joel. Nine one at Ryen Russillo..

"Jj He's one games with averaged bridge to really below average quarterbacks in the past and now he has one of the best ones I think in the league despite to Sean certainly not loving the way he played in that titans win and I think you could argue. Titans played better. But Shaun's got the two picks in the red zone A couple of big plays. They're late so Houston's in the conversation with it by the way Carl side who looked like he was just done tenth in rushing over a thousand dozen yards for Houston team. That never feels like consistently. You're worried about I mean in an old Lamar Miller a little bit. But I don't think you've ever looked at their rushing attack and been like all right. I'm really worried about this. But he's been good for them a little nugget though that I'd heard about O'Brien because it does seem like social media thinks he's a moron and I don't know Oh that's the case. I thought what he did to Penn state was incredible. He's found a way to continue to win some games. They've done a better job protecting to Sean. When it looked like he was never gonNa make it through the season and now I wonder if times that still more on Hammer? It's the old line but this is something that I had heard in that. Guys like the Andre Hopkins who he and Michael. Thomas are probably the argument for best receiver in the NFL. Now Be Post. Julio the Odell nonsense and then AB losing his mind every hour. But I don't I don't know that Hopkins like from what I'm hearing like Hopkins into Sean. Like may not be on the same page of Bill Bryant. So I'd be curious to like pay attention to this team. I don't know if they're peaking valley is because of the game planning but I don't know if it's because you still don't know who they are. We don't know what their identity is. Or if there's some kind of disconnect with the Sean and maybe more specifically Hopkins and O'Brien Hopkins was named a captain and and Brian Able just con- everybody here and he's actually this bad coach in one of the best players in the league doesn't respect him but there's something going on with that team where they can beat new England although again this is New England who I actually felt worse about after their win against Cincinnati. Yesterday it's a Houston team. That lost indy. They won the rematch. But the Baltimore Game Okay. You get smoked by them but just a week ago. Drew Lock absolutely tore you up so I have no idea what to expect out of the Houston team. That's probably still going to the playoffs. And I don't know if it has anything to do with word of a disconnect between Hopkins and O'Brien I think with The tax sends it. Sometimes it's okay to throw your hands up and say I have no idea. Yeah I just don't I don't know I don't know the thing I know about them as I love the quarterback and they have the best wide receiving corps One of the best. Why receiving core is if not the best in the league? I loved the Andre Hopkins You know the accessory pieces that that they've surrounded him with have been really good. You saw yesterday when when they're doubling him for most of the game until the until the fourth quarter it's kind of like pick your poison and they have a lot of likeable guys dude From Watson to Hopkins Wins To Kenny stills who absolutely love And I think the thing that's going to hurt them down. The stretch is going to be pass rush and their or lack of pass rush and their inability to remain consistent their peaks and valleys. You mentioned so I just don't know what's wrong with them or what's right with him. Yup nothing else to add added that mentioned the Pats I WanNa Vision though yesterday probably won the division. I still maintain the titans are in the conversation for third best team in the AFC. I some people are going to laugh when you hear that. But they're good football team and I still think they slide in. They'RE GONNA give people problems Houston's at Tampa and then they got another game titan so we we will we will find out because I I feel like the teams are close. But I I've had moments where I really really liked Houston and then I'm like okay. Maybe you should chill out a little bit on that okay. So that was the longest ever Best Plane Rides delicious. Get this over with GONNA bills just because everybody's waiting for them when they got back there absolutely worst I Kali Worst I. Why don't you go first? Probably Cleveland. Can We talk about Cleveland Plain right so bad like they're they're plane lane writes so bad the the the only podcast that dedicates thirty five minutes to talk about plane rides almost forgot about their plane. Ride because we had so many good ones on C.. Relevant and my co host. Here I should call you the co- The the host and I'm like to guess but my the host of this podcast Ryen Russillo probably doesn't even want to talk about about their plane ride. Not Really I mean. I don't know what else to say they. They're just so sick like the people honestly like this is a little anti Odell thing thing where you just go right because the rest of us can't figure this out like you're you're just difficult man. You really talented and you really difficult and you're younger and you're going to do this thing because look I've I'm not owed L. But I know what it's like to be like. Oh I think I'm this. I think I'm that she's again. Man if every stop it's the same thing maybe it's you you know. Maybe it's maybe it's not everybody. Everybody yeah right so we just have a Ryen Russillo moment where you bonded over discontent and you're just you know I'd already figured that out. I don't let it do is then justify it. Are you know. I don't let it justify me not sticking up for myself I self though because all have moments or more alone time I just don't want to hear I don't WanNa hear honestly. He can say whatever he wants. I don't care about about that I care about the people that sit there and consistently like there's a lot of people going into hiding that we're trying to call out everybody else for not supporting Antonio Brown but go Ben Rothlisberger bad too and it's like no no no man this guy. Ab Sucks okay. Like this guy sucks because you can't trust him he's incredibly. He might be the best receiver on the planet. He's not playing right now but like we don't need any more evidence that Ab is not exactly you got you can trust having the locker room. Oh does not necessarily I agr- I agree that the AB is a death. Wish I well and I'm not not saying that I'm just saying that people that stick up for the selfish me. I dump it on your quarterback while you're on that team back to the Eli stuff off and saying he can't get it done and then people like he's just speaking the truth and it's like well no there's limitations to how real you can get. And then he's in Cleveland in the same thing's happening all over again and he's not even producing that much so I think there's a lot of good things about Oh Dell and the Times I've been around him. I really liked him. But you know I also think that Odell plays hard on the field And so that SORTA ABC but the the the the situation slayer very different. Now that you're not that you're comparing hiring them by Both block both JV. I'll give you that. Say it again. No you're right about that. It's worth like they're both tough at both guys block. Both like they they are they are competitors. But I think that there's a selfishness thing that's praised as like just keeping it real. When you go you know you could also maybe do a better job and not pissed off all the time? Well there's a difference between Odell being sloppy with his. Get me out of here is which is very prevalent in the NFL NFL. I mean on bad teams guys are looking at the door a lot. I've been on a lot of them. He's more visible He's been a little more sloppy with some of the stuff he's said Ed or things that have been picked up but also he's not like On twitter you know engaged in a perpetual dumpster. I'm stir fire like producing dumpster fire content and like being completely unhinged. And I think at some point. Yeah we we only talk about AP. But I look at Adele as somebody who. He's in the right situation because he's never been in the right. The situation as far as a team standpoint goes if he ends up in New England next year or somewhere like that. You know you talk about the route tree and Chad Johnson. Ocho I think oh sorry And how it's not easy to to make a work in in New England if he's in a place like that and I don't know that New England is that landing spot anymore And we can get to that in a bit but I think you get the best out of them and I think there's there's plenty of places that if he ends up if he ended up in San Francisco he would enrich that that locker room. Because I've heard that he's a worker and I see on the field. He can be productive the other stuff. Listen I think he's part of a circus in Cleveland and New York. It's always a circus. I'm not I'm not a I'm not I'm not condoning joining certain things but I put him in a different category than some some guys who are completely unhinged No I'M NOT SAYING ODELL IS ABC. I'll say it one more time it would not. That'd be there. This this thing goes. There are predictable media types that no matter what the player does they always have the players back and Dan. You know sometimes it's just laughable where you okay so we're just doing this. I think I disagree with you a little bit that. The circus is because of New York in the circus. Because Cleveland I think it would l. has some of that stuff and he goes new the England. Yes he's going to be really good Because I actually think he's. He's a brilliant receiver. I mean he just he just is I think he wants to win. I do think that about him. I think he's competitive in wants to win win. And I think that Being in Cleveland. When can bring out not your best? So that's the worst one. We'll just do that okay. My friends over at draftkings. These guys get it..

"Listen. This scheme is necessary. The scheme is the most important thing in football. You can even overcome coaches that are like like wet blankets if you have a dynamic scheme But as far as in you asked me earlier like do you play for certain guys. I don't know that you ever play harder for certain guys. I mean I could mention situations where I played harder for a coach because I'm always trying to play one hundred percent as the old thing like. How do you play one hundred ten percent if you're not doing a hundred percent every week and we all know there's some weeks he'd get up a little bit more for and there's some coaches you you buy an a little bit more for? I think it's more of a buying thing You know I've had different coaches that you asked me about this. It's things like Doug Peterson who I'm a big fan of as a head coach Do I think that they could be doing things differently. Offensively certainly he's an offensive. Minded coach specialties. To certain things don't fall on the shoulders of my grow as much as they fall on the shores of Doug but doug had when I got to Philly what I put my finger on right away was that Doug was his players coach. A guy that you would you would buy in for and you you would play hard for But a guy that had some rules that I was like Oh these are dumb rules like give me dress code type you know. Tuck your shirt in practice. I think think that helps. You Wins Zero but because I like Doug so much you know even me who like disregards a lot of rules would try to and I. I don't know that I ever took my shirt in in practice. I tried to cut a shorter shirt which is not very bad us. What's the word? Flattering for a guy. Who doesn't have that defensive back profile in the midsection? Ed Section I I think it'd be like you know little rules in the building. Different coaches have their idiosyncrasies. Jeff Fisher was like his big thing was we. Don't make the rookie sing. The rookies don't sing you. Don't Hayes the rookies. We're going to need them. And although I love hearing rookie sing I was like well. You're you're you're my coach and I love Jeff Fisher so I'm listening. No questions asked no cutoff. T shirts in the in in the lunchroom as should be a given. I think you might violate that once or twice if you played for Jeff Fisher Yeah I do like but these are rules by foreign With bill it was like bills not necessarily at players coach but he was relaxed. In every way that you wouldn't think you would be like there was no dress code stuff on the practice field. You wear whatever color socks you want. Whatever color undershirt? Like the stuff that other coaches would would freak out about. He wasn't but but he would care about the football stuff. And the reason you would play for bill was because he had the football stuff down and it was in. He wielded guarantee that you're going to be in the shit at the end of the year. So every coach has a different a different Selling point and you know like whether as a players coach or somebody who's really schematically sound. I think that's the conversation is do you buy in to what these coaches are selling and that could be like playing out a scheme like when you go to New England you might play out a scheme might not like you know I think one of the biggest misnomers in New England that he's going to get the most out of you he's going to get the most out of you for the team and put you in situations that are advantageous to the team and that takes sacrifice and and you're willing to do that for for a bill. You know Mike. I don't know what it is like. I never played there. I don't I don't I know some guys but I never asked him. I know that he's somebody who's is loved in that building. But it's obvious guys buy in and it's not like you said you don't need to be an offensive juggernaut from you. Hire the right coach Defensive Juggernaut but if you create a culture that's consistent you have continuity and this is the way we do things that I'm unwavering and players like you then they'll stick to that and that's what he's had for twelve years. Hey good week. Man is our long pod yet is it. Yeah so we still have a couple of things we didn't get to. We're going to do that media conversation one day I promise Rama's yeah all right you can follow him at jolt. "Up hope? Everybody's gearing up for the Holiday Inn made it safe or we'll make it safe on their travels out here in Los Angeles looking at the Tuesday deal. You probably saw that somewhere on social media the North and South I think on the four zero five. Is that what they're calling it out here. Kyle the four. Oh five yes. There's all those pictures. How do you feel about everything? You're scooter electric trich bike guy. So this is even care. I don't really mess around near around the four. Oh five so I don't have a car correct now. Ninety more will happen to impound. repoed repoed. Now I bought a bought a lemon convertible Volvo from two thousand and three when I came out here and transmission went and like eight months. Did you call the guy that you bought got it from. Yeah they do. They gave me the papers. They were like sorry. I don't know what to tell you. They put like forty thousand dollars in this car. It seemed like I saw the stuff and just wasn't meant to be. I'M GONNA go ahead and guess they didn't put for me to meet out the papers. Look the jet paper Guy. If that's the case now that I think about you know how easy it would be to forge George Paperwork did you have anyone look at it if you bought the used car. Did you bring it anywhere to be like. Hey look if I'm GONNA buy this car WANNA bring it to a neutral voice here mechanic that can looking now. I was twenty two. I drove it around the block a couple of times I was like. Wow this thing has some balls. Let's get that was that was about the extent of my checking out. Well you learned a lesson there where is it now you sell it for parts or is it parks. It was parked in my apartment spot and with no transmission and they'd noticed that it had no registration nations so they said I had to get a registered or get rid of it so I jumped it. That's not how much money you get for that Junkin. I don't even WanNa tell you it was less than two hundred dollars really. You could be paying them to take it off your hands. So yeah you're right if you look at it as a net positive okay. Today's episode of the Ryen Russillo show is brought to you by state farm. Analysis: New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

"New England Beats Philadelphia. Seven hundred ten tight game. Your boy Ataman throws a touchdown pass What do we make of these teams right now? Well I mean I think the entire takeaway for Philly fans is predicated on what you think of New England if you think think. New England is the Super Bowl. Contending team which I think there are a super bowl. Contending Tamed Sound Down on now. Though it sounds like your your little awesome while you worry about the offense and she do I mean like how could you not and you worry about stopping the red eye. Eagles went away from a little bit. They were down Jordan. Howard I think if you look at it that outweigh it's not the worst? Lost Eagles had all season. But of course it's the biggest loss because it's the latest and now they're five hundred nece was like they put themselves in a position where losses to Atlanta and in Detroit and teams like that amounted up and made this a must win and of course in the NFC. Nothing's truly a must win but we mentioned the eagles struggles with Dallas earlier. Everybody has to over simplify things and make it a win thing and I just got actually got a tweet from A guy earlier one of the listeners owners definitely from Boston like Oh crooked. Cancel the pod Ryan at Ryan at Chris. Because he doesn't want to you know. Take the eagles offense to task. The offense was bad. Dude Carson didn't play take that twelve but like Carson Carson didn't play Great Lake but guess what you've been touting this patriots it's defense all year is the best of all time or in that in that and we have come down to earth bit but you gotTa pick one because Carson not having a perfect game against these guys with down the starting running back down to Sean Jackson down. Alshon Jeffery down both tackles at one point in the game by by the way when Lane Johnson leaves early early. That's a big deal. Carson was pressure twenty. Two out of forty eight snaps again. He holds the ball long too long sometimes so that stat his snapped releases relevant the longer longer you hold it the more. You're going to get pressured. But he had four incompletion role in that final drive. I didn't think he had agreed. Asli bag game but it was funny to me that in a game where the goat who still a really good player was all over the place. The first avenue set a record for incompletions and a half. It's the first game. He played an entire game. You didn't leave bleed. The Patriots and touchdown passes shutout Jules. I just think like are we going to be mad at Brady to a I. I know whence isn't the goat and he doesn't get that kind of slack but that's a team who offensively has to hurry up and figure some things out for the for the level of expectation in New England to be met and of course Romo Romo who I love every time Brady missed the throw is the wind. Every time went Smith stores like he missed another one there. And if this is the game you're GONNA TO GIVE UP ON WHENCE OVER I. You're giving up on Wednesday like as a franchise quarterback score on trees. I think you're you're you're shortsighted. Second this is not the game like he didn't didn't play that well but bro. That's the best defense in the league. Most people think right. That's what people think at this point Yeah they are San Francisco. You know San Francisco the team gave up fifty points to I mean Devi. Oh man done sound like rail exact science so I'm looking at it now. 'cause Devia was telling me these guys were both both the two thousand Ravens. Yeah now they are and I mean going into the week they still were way ahead of everybody else. I mean I was looking at the numbers this morning. They don't get updated Until until the Monday night or so we'll know more about inter you're right. I mean that San Francisco who in what last couple of weeks we're going. Oh wait a minute what what happened to these guys on Defense Pencil Not GonNa sit there and say then all of a sudden I still. I've always liked personnel better than New England's but New England's one holding a team down to ten after they gave up a bunch of yards to Lamar and those guys so I think the Brady thing it continues to be this thing. That's real his first half second half stuff it just felt like yesterday was just a grind. You know what I mean to grind for everybody. You know what I mean but you know how like if you have a buddy and you seem like walking somewhere and you're like what's wrong like just having a bad day. Yeah just arduous and soon as they got out of the house everything was a challenge and it just felt like the Brady and his movements. And maybe I'm doing too much here and maybe but I don't think I am. I think I'm right here. I really the the more I watch him this year. The more I think things just feel more challenging and I don't know if it's just because the offensive line I don't know it's because no gronk you know it could be all of these things collectively but I think even the biggest patriots fan has to admit and some private moment that you know. Maybe this is what it looks like for the end of Tom and then as soon as I say that out loud goes probably was so who knows. I'm not willing to do that because I'm not going to be the guy what I'm saying is though that poses the question to you. I mean you're forty two forty three years old. You'RE GONNA have I bad days where the ball is not just zip off your arm You know outside the Hashes Brady Brady is still going to have them in a position to compete for the whole thing at the end of the year even with the lack of Gronk with the lack of Devlin with the line problems with some of the drops he had yesterday. But I would ask you this. The Eagles secondary has been much maligned. The Patriots Defense has been called one of the best ever right. So why are we sitting here talking about and Tom didn't have a great game. You know who had about the same game as Tom Carson. They both they both had bad throws. But we're sitting here and I know that the go gets a lot more leash 'cause he's the goat and he's going to have his team where they need to be and I'm a huge fan. So don't don't mistake. This is a Tom Critique but people have not gray days Tom will tell you that Carson had not great day against one of the best defense of all time and if you look at these two these two offenses they both fallen awful lot. Since that's your boy. I think the Eagles Miss Frank Reich. I think they may they miss de Filippo. I think they had a lot of injuries but the pats have a lot of injuries and they've fallen on off a lot since that super bowl. Our defense in seventeen was much better than the not much better. It's better than the eagles defense right now. We have more pieces. They put up six hundred plus yards yards. Offensively on US yesterday was like you said a struggle and so I think there's concerns for both offenses here. One obviously has a much better cushion and a defense defense. That's GONNA keep me in every game.

Eagles Brady Brady Tom Carson New England Carson Carson Patriots San Francisco England Philadelphia Ataman Alshon Jeffery Philly Boston Romo Romo Ryan Dallas Frank Reich Howard

Everything you need to know about LSU-Alabama and Penn State-Minnesota

"College football rankings route and i want to go through three things that matter and three things it don't matter you could argue none of it matters but i think that's a little dismissive and yes a lot of this stuff takes care of itself and you know when i saw the rankings things come out and you're like ooh they got georgia but six at penn state at four there ahead of clemson what all these things mean should ohio state actually be number one overall issue well let's go through it here's what matters bama mccutcheon this actually does matter a little bit now if you want to say the committee has an infatuation with obama do you really feel like obama wasn't one of the four the best teams all the years that got in you know is that all of us just being guilty of the the laundry and falling in love with the name that were gifting them chances just to get in or do they usually beat some really good teams and other than the clemson national championship loss they hadn't had any bad losses since two thousand seven i'm talking like hey that's a bad loss how did you lose that game and you got blown out they went like a decade without one so that means maybe rightfully so here though that the committee does still will like obama and if they were to lose illustrate this weekend and you also have to compare to other years but compare obama to the rest of the field bama emma is going to get in as a one loss not SEC champ over clemson who if clemson were to stumble has no chance so there is no infatuation with clemson's dominance since the north carolina game the north carolina close win is being held against clemson and when it comes down to comparing this team to that team and you're trying to figure out how to decipher all the stuff and i'm gonna get to that a little bit later it isn't really about that it's just going right you know what we're not as in love with clemson so i actually think clemson jason being outside of the top four as much as they take care of their own deal and their clemson and they win the SEC they're going to be in the playoff considering all these other teams have to play the other teams obviously penn the state ohio state are gonna play LSU bama this week as you mentioned but between alabama clemson two teams that are undefeated with not not great resumes the room is telling you they prefer bama and i actually think that means something georgia at six i think is wrong wrong when you lose to south carolina with their second and third string quarterbacks and you play the way they played where they had a stretch of about three or so weeks where europe like this is not the team that i thought was supposed to be dominant i think that's a problem that georgia is at six ahead of oregon in utah utah's loss is hard to explain oregon's losses against a good auburn team where let's face it for the most of the game oregon was the better team and bo knicks it's ridiculous store at the end and look that's why they keep track of this stuff but it's okay to look at a team that loses going yeah that's really probably shouldn't have lost it's okay because you know you we all do it so it does matter matter that the committee and this isn't necessarily i don't know if it isn't SEC or not but it seems like they're hanging onto georgia here a little bit more than they are the idea that a pack twelve champ would it'd be better remember oregon utah both you look at their last three remaining regular season games both teams should probably be eleven one at the end of the regular season and i think they should just both be hire especially oregon with their loss versus georgia's loss i mean utah's losses worse but oregon's loss isn't worse than georgia's loss and yet georgia is ahead of maybe right now the favorite in the pac twelve

"Will host the next hour and a half before do that though state farm is are presenting sponsor we're very happy to be involved with them because today's episode of the Ryen Russillo show is brought to you by State Farm was just like all right he's fine yeah with these weren't playing crunch time in fucking China against these teams if other countries want to renew and you want to rephrase that wasted about China we gotta sell under I don't like their forwards now care sliver is more I think an indicator what's going to happen here than even Kyrie I really do like curious over continues on the suspension that I think he's capable of then they can get over forty five win because I I like Harris that much now shooting has not been get these two guys they could arguably the best player in the League and it doesn't matter if you have to wait a year and if durant ninety percent of PK eighty that's still an amazing thing but some of the stuff has been comical like Kyrie all sort of two and threes and it was kind of fun around Jared Allen who I think should be playing more minutes than De'andre Jordan I realized what Sanjay Jordan's defensive rebounding numbers are but he got ten million though no he got a recruiter good buddy right but jared allen to me is is somebody I I've grown to like more more but it's not like eighty is sitting there going you know I just respect the way you guys play like crews and these pin downs awesome stuff I don't I wouldn't say this on my podcast but I feel like I can say on yours I thought that was really lame by K. D. I'm kidding by the way I would say to my pockets he played on the two thousand seventeen warriors which is on the shortlist of greatest teams of all time and it's certainly the best offensive team about time whether whether they if you're gonNA do team time by any metric you WanNa do and for NSA The insinuation is man it's going to be nice to go to Brooklyn finally being the right offense it's like fuck you you don't even know what's and by the way what offense are Utah talking about what are we talking about of all time what's going to be better than that what are you doing in whatever they ran is not what they're going to run once you get there the Kenny Atkinson let's develop these guys they've done an awesome job culture it worked all there's not any knock on Brooklyn what I'm saying is the version of Brooklyn that you're claiming to be in love with is not going to be the version going to be a part of once you guys actually start playing pay played with the the best teammate in one of the best offensive players of all time and then clay three of the best teammates yeah Alzheimer's averages twenty two in the regular season in two thousand seventeen dips to fifteen in the playoffs doesn't say a fucking Peop- and I I just for Katie Hey that I really made that tough to defend house which your take on all this I'm doing a tiny over for the nets that essentially derives from an institutional competence The Nets now have proven beyond a reasonable doubt to me that they have a clue as to what's going on I think Kenny the coach is a damn good coach and I like the the east is is so bad that you're asking for them to be four games above five hundred and so many teams there's a lot of wins out there in the east so that that's the entirety the thesis for why a tiny over for the nets they have eight guys this is a nice stat again for my Homie Matt Moore they had had eight guys who played over five hundred minutes last season with a positive on-court net rating not one of those guys on the team this year but they're still they still have competence at a lot of You know across the board at position wise so I like them at at forty six I'm taking a tiny over zillow what how will Wilson Chandler's PD suspension impact his team do you think the rally around it he thinks 'cause you know he's just could see them getting off to a good start like in defiance of the NBA's Georgia wishy are we sure the east is that bad yeah okay I think it's worse now after prepping than I thought sign makes sure our wait a minute are US egging each sneaky deep there's a couple of east teams I think I liked a little more than I expected I just had a hard time he was worse last year you know how we just did in the West you go there six locks and then there's this group of four after that group of five maybe I got to like to locks in the east wow the pacers are lock and Celtics GonNa make the playoffs but it just locks in the comparison of what those Western teams are at the top the depth here is just well let's go to the Knicks let's go the Knicks let's go to the next over under is twenty eight there's been some action on the under the whereas now plus one ten you could bet over twenty eight you'd actually get positive money on it they're five hundred one win the Division One thousand one the title plus seven hundred make the playoffs forgot to mention Brooklyn is twelve to one than win the division twelve to one when the conference which I've never seen before I think that's a Katy might come back be careful can make the conference is too high in case he comes back in April and all of a sudden they're in the east finals but anyway the Nex this is one of the most perplexing rosters I've ever seen in my life I can we just go back and we go back we'll views but just think of the headlines in the discussions that we had about this team like okay can you Claes on and Katie together is it okay to ask Katie to play the small towns I play the big and then Kyrie's there about the all the all of the early May discussions like the problems on the horizon would have Kyrie goes there and he's the third star no wait a minute Zion's ado guys so they'll get it Ah they're both due for a couple of months so they've they'll bond over that so everything will work out to what's the record for power forward sign in one summer well can you imagine in what a letdown it really is just the Knicks fans because we make fun of them all I think I hate the next and I really don't I would much rather have the good basketball team in New York part of when we make fun of the next is to try to put pressure on James Dolan so he knows how bad he is he's been bad for twenty years now this what we did this summer and I've seen they had an exhibition game last night and we have some knicks fans the ringer and people. Wow Bobby Bobby Portis of Marcus Morris turns out this is even more awkward than maybe it seemed like it was going to be preseason house what do you think of in that has Dennis Smith RJ? Marcus Morris Julius randle Mitchell Robertson and then Alfred Peyton Reggie Bullock Kevin Knox Bobby Portis in Wayne Ellington and Taj Gibson coming off the bench. What does that sound like to you it feels like we're sitting down at a blackjack table in Las Vegas and being the dealer walks over and we are hopes of of of winning a single hand are immediately dash she looks at us she is angry at us she doesn't want us to be at the table because we are losers that's the Knicks a are losers they've under at eleven fifteen years seven of the last ten for the last five the only way you could win here is barring two hundred dollars Ryen Russillo and never paying it back hasn't has to remember is the name of the dealer that destroyed him to the point that he borrowed garage dollars per view that show all of us and then there's like a couple of guys stop by over insist table see how it goes it's not going to be that exciting England fifty dollar hands being like Klay Thompson in the two thousand sixteen okay so you gave Souza's Oh all away corner three she was like another twenty one she was like Tyson when you start to forty welcome now you just you can't actually even block the in punches you just have to time the dodging kitchen has the river dave has here you can name was incredible I just I remember that I was drunk though we're all going under twenty eight we are this team can well God by the way can I just throw this at you guys are people already off Kevin Knox that quickly I'd like Kevin ax I feel like no one talks about him anymore I listen we've talked about this ten times during the summer but it's just amazing to me that they just didn't keep all the capstone ace and then they could have just traded for Chris Paul for nothing overpaying all these dudes and it's like now they wanted short term that I mean for what nobody wants to go there they had the best chance they've ever had this year and deandre Jordan was on that team for the last two months of the season as it turns out obviously very close to Katie and career because he signed there and by the end of that season they're not they're not going near the knicks their disaster they're going to be a disaster until he has the team it is it is a culture of fear it's a culture of incompetence the players play their miserable and then they tell other players miserable they are this is the knicks would you say it's going to happen would you pay for an it would be a series of survivor called owners season where it Snyder when you know server SAR and you just put them all on an island for Totta partido tillman would just start he I would like his chances versus the other guy I think telling me gets voted off on the first episode because they don't like kept telling everybody to shut up and listen they would see there's a threat yeah but it's this guy so Agra what would be what would be like a Snyder Dole and faceoff event where you go I don't know who's going to win it would be a very limping and shake both guys who were in black and they would see might they got along and then there would be sabotaging each other in the side would be my guess and I'll be somebody would eat the beans late at night but not tell the everybody else be next morning like we're the beans one of those guys it like if houses on survivor anytime food disappeared people would blame house which would actually be a great move for the other people on survivor avenue the rights everyone will think house did it he's talked about Hungary was for the three weeks douse definitely still the food I'll just he'll be the fall guy house don't go on survivor you like to eat too much it's funny there's some buzz that this team was gonna go kind of late nineties physical old school kind of Knicks team their fans remember so fine whatever Gary exactly what you want to do today's NBA. I think it's the opposite I think within a couple of weeks people are going to be like wow we just played Mitchell Robertson and and Kevin Knox and Frankie smokes and RJ Barrett and why why don't we just building around those guys those guys are going to be here why why are we like feeding Marcus Morris on an ISO in a seventy to fifty eight we're down against the wizards like what are we doing what's the plan here Mitchell Robinson thing probably is more about like his.

I just you know he kept it moving and then I had a guy who recognize. We had extra seats so it was awesome. We all spread out we had spare seats and then bought me up Columbia Sam Adams after intermission he goes. I'm a really big fan. He was a really nice guy. I forget his name. He was in town business. He was not with the Lady of the night he was. He was by himself. He was very well behaved but I thought it was really nice to him that he's like. I didn't WanNa bug you. WanNa bug me during the play. "Offensively and offenses are going to be a step ahead bear now. They're not GonNa do it as well as the Rams 'cause he also coach in teaching and execute the plays after you line up that way but even storied offenses that have had a lot of success New England for example that we're seeing them lineup these condensed formations and a lot more when you do that there's a lot of benefits but long story short all your receivers have to way go. The sideline does not inhibit you if you're in the middle of the field so effectively double your creating more field that must be defended the other team that did it. I thought they had the best looking offense and week one and maybe even last year with Kansas City so well two of the teams that were in the top four and storing the two top. AFC teams in scoring last year both are doing new things dramatically because that's how potent hi formation and can be final thought indie you can go ahead here and just just touch on something that we haven't touched on yet your choice. I I was really intrigued with the way the Shawn Watson played at New Orleans and come back drive or I guess it would have been a comeback would be come back. Dr One thing but it throughout the game the totality of it. He was a passer. I and they run her second showed signs of that as a working. I think every no matter how mobile you are you have to be that way the NFL he showed signs that in his first season he didn't really build on it and year to lack of trust me off into was the issue also he's coming off the knee injuries though he's I don't know if he was completely comfortable hanging in the pocket and you're too but he was more than willing to do that so far in the start of your three the what'll be interesting. Ryan thorough line struggles as much as it did I. I don't think it will learn councils that outstanding left tackle but still got four of the guys that have to block. Let's say they do struggle a little bit or close host as much as they did last year ten watson maintain his pocket poise because that's really the safest way to place. Leave your own line bad hanging within the pockets. It's the best way to keep yourself safe breaking down and moving or extending plays without a plan. That's not going to keep you safe and had issues with that last year so how wealthy reading the field how calmly the play within the pocket so far. I was really really impressed with that. Against New Orleans awesome stuff you could check out all of his work on SL DOT dot com constantly updating you with film breakdowns and you can check him out on twitter at Andy Underscore but note thanks man yeah you gotta think you rent so today is nine eleven and like almost everyone of you listening. that are old enough the remember exactly where you are. I always think about it. I was twenty six. I had just bartended the night before which meant I was likely really sleeping in because I stayed up really late because I used to walk home. Sometimes I'd walk home of like the the register of bag money on me. That was always weird like nothing ever happened but you know it's probably not the smartest thing to consistently be walking around three in the morning other. Whatever right like I was just I was such an idiot back then I wouldn't even think about having wasn't my money by the way either it was. I was I was generally pretty much. week-to-week I so so I go home eighty two sub I play madden force on the morning and then I probably sleep into eleven you you know sometimes later depending and so sometimes to this is before. I think I had a regular cellphone. I'd had a cell phone before that got disconnected and then I I wasn't eligible to get one again for a little while again on me but I remember getting a call 'cause sometimes I unplugged my house phone and Dan. I hadn't and I got a call and I just let it go to voicemail again. Answering machines back then and I had a buddy named Johnny who calls he goes. Hey I know you probably sleeping deepened but wake up wake up. Get up right now and I like you know run over jump out of my loft and is a phone. I'm like what the Hell's going on. What's what's wrong wrong his dude. We're like getting attacked right now on the news. Like what are you doing. I throw in the news and I see everything happening and the first thing I thought about about was you know so many of my friends who just graduated school a couple of years prior and everyone of us as you know trying to figure out how to how to get to him but you can't get any calls through New York City you know guys are emailing each other that are outside of New York City going. Hey does anybody know anything and hey. We knew this guy was away or you know. This guy was traveling. I haven't heard from here and you know like a lot of you. That had friends New York City. I mean half the kids that I went to school with. Were from Fairfield county or you know lower New York City area. The parents worked in worked in finance or whatever so it was always kinda scary. There was even a rumor wants post. That wasn't the day of it was a few days later later that one of our friends actually had died which was ridiculous because it was some young kids that were still in school that Kinda knew. Everybody and they're like hey did you see or so died in one of the towers and I was like Oh man that sucks and then I think I thought he was dead for months then somebody who was like wait a minute. I brought it up and they're like. Are you kidding me. I golfed with him last week and so anyway that that was that was really uncertain thing because the world still was moving a lot slower back then but the thing that always forget and really regret and I'm saying this now is a forty four year old guy. Maybe this won't mean anything and maybe even seem I dunno and maybe just sounds like I'm trying to tell the story but I was dating a girl who was far more mature than me and definitely deserved better and I was really unhappy. Kid 'cause I expected so much of myself and so I was kind of this combination of arrogance in jerk and yet deep down. I knew I was nothing so I was probably being defensive in an insecure. You're way where I was like. I'M GONNA put on this facade of trying to be tough and you know be be a guy's guide. I know that I'm I'm still kind of like the guy thing that I'm tad more secure that I was the twenty six and this thing happens and she's a schoolteacher and she's a sweetheart of a person and she's calling me and she's like I'm really upset and I'm like okay. That's fine and I'm kinda wondering like why she's so upset. She didn't have any friends in your. She's just as upset okay because it was a weird thing to you. See like you grow up your whole life. We think about all of this military stuff that happens but it just doesn't happen here. Really you know just doesn't and then it did in in a different different way than maybe we're used to her way. That doesn't really ever happen so I was scheduled a barten- that night and later later that day she was still very upset and she asked me to take the night off and spend the night at her house and this is somebody who lost her father. When she was is younger and I didn't get it. I didn't get it. I just thought why would I take the night off. They're not the they're not. GonNa Invade Vermont. You know like this doesn't make any sense to me and I remember talking to one of my younger buddies and I'm kind of like being that idiot twenty six year old where I'm going h-have like she wanted me to take the night off tonight. Michael and then he's like really I go yeah and what I'm telling anyone who's younger who may be like. I was in my twenty. S is that you take the night off and you give up one hundred and fifty bucks in tips and you go and give your girlfriend a hog and you stay there with her her if she's upset and that's what being a man is not being tough guy and saying that stupid. I'm not doing that. It's going and doing something that maybe maybe you don't understand but realizing it's GonNa make the other person feel better and I'm sure some of you guys listening to be like Hey I do. Thanks a lot for the tip Dr Phil but we already figured that one out but but I'm just telling you back then I wasn't even close to having it figured out and it's not remotely important as far as anything that happened that day day but it's something that all always remember. I'll always feel bad about it on top of all the other things that were just atrocious that day so I'm not I'm not trying to compare the two I'm not. I'm not putting this listen but it's just something. I hope you guys understand why I told that story because I'm always trying to help out the younger dudes out there all right very serious but today was a serious day as well hotel L. Tonight.

"Wherever you go with a tune it okay. Let's do it one of my favorite guys on the previews and his film breakdown in the poor guys mad that he hasn't watched every snap of every single game before this podcast casts but that is not necessarily at promised in that from SL DOT com. It's what's up man. How was your first week yeah so far so good. How're you doing right. I'm great great. That was fun. I've million things that I want to get to and feel free to take this in any direction that you think we need to hear what you have to say but we can go you know going back and forth on the notes. I I need to start with Lamar Jackson because I think you and I were aligned early on watching him in college where I watched him a lot. In that second year I feel like Louisville was always on early. He he was so much fun to watch and college. I interviewed him twice. He's probably one of my favorite like college personalities which is pretty rare. Just how genuine of a duty seemed like but like Eric widow when he came in as a rookie into camp weddell admitted like man it was rough and I think you and I both thought based on some of his intermediate throws some of his clean throws. He was still ovarian accurate. I think his overall performance a bit overrated because they want a lot of games and they went to the playoffs and then I thought that charges playoff game was pretty disappointing but not a huge surprise so having said all of that because Lamar Jackson become sort of the social experiment on top everything else he comes out lights up. The dolphins like like record fashion. He doesn't even have to run the football so now that I've set that whole thing up. I think it's a real question. Of what do you see. What kind of work is he put in and how much we put into this because it was the dolphins well? I do think you need to factor the dolphins thing a little bit because there was a lot of miscommunication there secondary's some some of the matchup concepts that they had the way they deployed safety. They were vulnerable and Jackson to his credit. Obviously took more than full advantage of that and what I really liked Ryan is he has a very clear identity as they pass. We're talking the physical roar of the ball right now. He's got this short little motion kind of a rift within hypoc thrower Mahomes like that mahomes obviously is much more talented in this car is kind of like that and I last year. You know we can see that in him. I think the sense that he was clearly defined. As what kind of passer he is that appears to be the motion that he's comfortable with and that I think the pretty flexible civil locate the real natural athlete when he throws the ball and we know that the Ravens talked about how they're going to change offense around him but based on the big plays that they were hitting on. I mean even Lamar had said we had installed last year and we still haven't seen the full arsenal from them. I mean did you see something different conceptually from them at all with what they were doing. I don't know if I'd say different. I think what we'll see is the more honed in specified offense really it starts with their running game obviously and what grade Roman it does so well their offense coordinator remember capper Nick and when they went to the Super Bowl and San Francisco with them he presents a lot of moving pieces in your run game so boggles one way blockers workers might pull or flow the other way sometimes they'll flow with the direction the ball sometimes you'll have multiple guys going in both directions and all in the center of it is Lamar and the threat of can keeping the ball and that's their foundation. That's their starting place and you can theoretically Lamar Jackson can run the ball three times for six yards and still have a commanding influence on the running game week after week. I do think yes we will see him obviously run the ball more than he did against Miami but you don't have to actually be running him to capitalize on his mobility and at some point we'll see and I think we're we're going to start touching on this. Maybe sooner than expected is the integration of passing concept into these concepts and I'm sure they have a starting place now. Play actions obviously a big part of that but when you can start throwing out of your run formation that's where you're very dangerous and a lot of those throws inherently become downfield throws because you're run formations. They leave extra blockers in there. They look like you're going to be smashed. Mouth in the ball both smashmouth blockers just become path protectors and that's why guy was feet. It's so critical in a run based off wide receiver so Hollywood Brown. That's a great rape fit stylistically for that kind of often okay Cleveland. We started with the great it. This was not great. I think we look at Baker and go K. Ed. See all the things that we like about it. I mean we get caught up in the personality but none of that matters if they win. It's GonNa be because of his personality. If they lose. It's going to be because of his personality. I mean it's just the way the media works and what everybody he does. He's he's a leader. He's cocky brash aggressive or he's immature. You know you can't win with this guy but it was collectively a disaster from this team and I imagine that starts up on the offensive line. So how bad was it based on what you saw from the Cleveland game well honestly I think it started with Mayfield could be break and that surprised me a little bit. I don't I don't know if I seen a quarterback in the NFL game. Sure have one doesn't come to mind. It's certainly not one that I think is highly of Baker Mayfield. I don't know if I've seen it to be so befuddled by what he saw. From a defense as Mayfield was he was absolutely lost with Tennessee titans did is they played a Lotta autozone coverage pretty traditional zones cover to cover three but they got to them and very very untraditional way and they also blitzed out of those they'll look which is highly unusual especially listening out of cover to you almost never see that they brought cornerback cover too and the browns quite frankly they had simply no the idea what was going on out there and it started with Mayfield. He wasn't the only one though and I wouldn't I mean this isn't something that would write an article about at this point but when I go the combine or the senior bowl or visit teams I usually go with a list of questions from watching film and one of the questions I would ask if I got to sit down with someone from the browns would be did you guys have a stable set of plays that you could go to and hey we're getting coverage rotation that we're not expecting but here are some routes and ideas that we can beat most coverage. Here's what we do and we need to get comfortable. I didn't get the sense they had that. They looked like they had a whole lot to fall back on. They were totally only out steam that outmatched technically in that game. So is this a long term deal here. I know it's it was awful. I mean I wonder or if you just go okay. Whatever the excitement week one I mean again. It was Tennessee. Tennessee never gets enough credit out and I'm the first to admit that I don't give them enough credit physical. I think they get it really simple. Mario has never that impressive and look. They obviously don't think Mario is that impressive if they let them do the one year option and didn't WanNa do extent you because they're still not sure but if you're Cleveland Alan I mean forget the Super Bowl and all that kind of stuff is does this team still have a chance to be a good team this year. Yeah I think the stuff is certainly fixable. In Tennessee I don't I wouldn't be some time with the titans this off season and to a man that's starting secondary. They go out of their way to tell you. Hey you know we do more coverages than anyone in the NFL. We we do a lot. We counted it out. We have more in our playbook than anybody. They take a lot of pride in that. That's the Mike rebel influence being peas influence or defensive coordinator later and they're right they do. That's the most expensive coverage defensive football so the browns probably will be a barrage like that again. They might see this week but they have just coming up on Monday. Night and Greg Williams plays a similar style not quite as a as expansive as the Titan but a lot of cover to disguise. Just like Tennessee does so so I don't. It'll be interesting to see the more I think about it right. I think this'll be telling game already in week two because there was such an obvious blueprint for how to befuddled the browns last breath week. They know they're gonNA get similar stuff this week because that team does it the jets do it. How do they look this week. That'll be pretty revealing to me okay. Let's Talk Pat at steelers if you were devising a defense because I mean look I've watched this brady guy his entire career and you know I always think about like okay of all the Times you say that like nothing more crazy than when a guy's on TV pressure right up the middle you're going in his face until somebody tells me the quarterback that loves pressure coming right up the middle and moves off of his spot that does well with that then. I'll think that that's actually a unique thing. I mean know quarterback likes that. It's like a pitcher going if you just paint the corners against this guy like we'll know shit. What do you do here because like I really expand all this stuff. I guess what I'm doing before we talk about how the steelers and Tomlin's predictability the against Brady. What would you devise like if you had to. I mean if anybody was actually good at stopping pretty. We wouldn't be in a podcast right now. But what would you say you would think like hey. These are the things things you have to do. These are the things you can't do when you're going up against Brady well. Obviously it's GonNa depend on your personnel a little bit but I I would not blitz Tom. Brady because so much of his reads come before the snap which gets to getting the ball out quickly. That's always able to do that. The teams that have rushed three and dropped eight into coverage. We have had the. I think the best fighters chance against Tom. Brady a good answer for some of the empty formations that New England does because if brain is getting the ball out hits you when he gets the ball out quickly now you know we say that but I also remember back in twenty seven team. Brady season was really built on downfield passing by extending place from within pocket so it's not like there's one idea maybe just get the bad at works but you need to be physical with. New England's receivers 'cause it's the timing offense and a lot of those routes are intertwined join together so jim one row throw it off at schedule and you can throw all re route for example off their schedule physical press coverage and then extra bodies bodies back into coverage but again it into your personnel a little bit and what's tough get lost but one of the best teams in the NFL and they'll just convince the formation nation and pound the ball right down your throat. We saw that at the end of the season last year I look I I. I don't know how you stop this often. You it see that's the first thing you said that. Obviously no you know you just like me. Being you know minimally. I guess the way to say like I understand. There's still things in film and motion and pre-snap reads that. I just don't understand because I didn't play okay. I I get those things but I do know that blitzing Brady stupid because if you blitz him he's going to figure it out and now all of these little routes underneath wide open but what is it about Tomlin in their man coverage because I've seen you know Baltimore Harbor. The really good staff that playoff win where they came back from fourteen zip and twenty eight fourteen they played this soft off coverage on the outside and breeze like all right fine. You can give me these seven yard gainers on the outside every time okay done and that's how they got back into that game. I remember that Pittsburgh playoff game a couple years ago with with New England against the steelers. The steelers never did anything they didn't do anything to change and I think Collins Worth was hitting on.

Underappreciated? LeBron James calls Damian Lillard 'a superstar in our league'

"How Lillard runs the team and always has a balance of when am I getting mine versus window a half to kind of get other people involved. It just felt like he had complete command the game for four quarters and. You can't say that about Kyrie Kyrie floats in and out of these games. And this is why the more I said this last week on the on the pod the more look at the situation. He was in Cleveland. It was the perfect situation for him because he's really afloat in and out of guy, which is exactly who you'd wanna pair. Lebron James does perfect number two guy. This guy might take over for eight minutes or you don't have to worry about him for a quarter. That's why what would the bridges, you know. And I I was just really impressed by Lillard. I voted for him for second team. All I'm bay last year. I think he's a lack to be second team all NBA again this year. And I if you doing a hierarchy pecking order, I think he's gotta be higher than kyri. Don't you think he has to be no look I thought he was better going in. But it was one of those things just watching it. And I really watch those two for long straight because they were knocked up head to head game too. I was kinda surprised how they did their defensive rotations. But I'm not gonna say that. It was a mistake unless somebody explained it to me. But there were there were so many times. I'm like man, they're still sticking with kyri on Lillard here. This is a disaster. Yeah. They can't hide him Lillard. Cooked them living cook them in by the way, Lilla just I mean, I didn't think Lillard wasn't better. But it's one of those games where it was. So obviously, he's to is that like from now on until like Finnity, I don't wanna hear anybody who's the Celtics buddy of Kyrie resigns in Boston where they go actually Kyrie's better the Lillard because he's just he's just not that whatever the pecking order is he's lower

"Are available Sunday December ninth on star. Burns audio. This is nice day to start off the show. This is social distortion of my life. Like that. Hey, we're the Sklar brothers. This view from the cheap seats. Our guest this week on the show. We'll get to later is the fantastic. Ryen russillo. Ryen russillo has a great podcast one great one. He does Bill Simmons called dole threats on the ringer. And of course, he's amazing on ESPN. We sort of grew up not grew up on him, but came up on him in when he in van pelt were doing their thing. Great interaction between the two of them. And now, he's got the russillo pod. So good. He's one of the honest true, in my opinion, he and van pelt to those guys really good voices voices in in the sports talk world. And so I say check that out and he'll be coming on to talk. All things is history where he came from the northeast and how he sort of cut his chops on Boston minor league baseball, and then basically SPN, but he is a huge NBA guy will get deep into some NBA, talk and other great things as well. But we are top take is about a story. That's divan. -veloping on the NBA. And it is this story. That's it's it's crazy. That's happening with white Howard. I can't believe this have hasn't happened sooner to another athlete agreed or it's just been. It's happened for sure, but it has been sort of squashed. But now in the age of twenty four hour social media and whatnot. And it's just it is now more than ever, you know, it's gonna details are still emerging. So Dwight Howard had a relationship with a trans per than one. I think yeah, he's had multiple relationships with the other homosexual relationships trans relationships women who are transitioning to be met. It's not one hundred percent clear. The full attitude straight off the bat is who cares. Good good. If that's what you're nyc and do it, but he is fearful of the ridicule and the backlash that would come from not only the NBA community sports community, the fans and the sport. And so as a result, he said. Sent his entourage to this most recent person who he had ongoing relations with and they broke up. They broke up any threat. He had his entourage threatened this person with violence if they ever came forward. Well, he said to his entourage. Go talk to this person, and they acted on their own and said stay because they're gravy train is tied to Dwight Howard. And there you go and Dwight Howard is concerned about his own future would never mind. The fact that he was already like kinda hated figure in sports hurting hurting his reputation, which was already terrible rightwards world. But what's what's sad? And it sat on many levels is number one that he has to hide it number two that he has to silence someone else and number three that his fears are founded there are people certainly his detractors and haters and large portions of the community, the sports listening and fandom that would seize upon this and make a big deal out of his life a living. Hell when it shouldn't be I make this person's a life living hell. So what he did was wrong. But he was pushed to it on the on the very real fear of what probably would happen to him. Now, I ran in. I've been trying to unwrap this and understand perhaps why people would do that. And you know, as diehard fans of certain teams, you know, you know, their arrivals there are people who play against you and Amies within the sport. That is the sort of sleight of hand that sports gives you which is it takes a very low stakes thing..

Introducing the College Football Playoff Predictor ... which likes Clemson better than Alabama

"Analytics releasing its college football playoff predictor yesterday, the calculates every teams chance to make it to the college football playoff into win the championship in the criteria are strength of record f. b. i. number of losses, conference championships and independence status. And of course it's Alabama. Of course, it's Alabama. No, it's not according to model, Clemson has the best chance of reaching the playoffs with a sixty, seven percent chance to thirds chance that cleanse it will make the final four and twenty four percent chance a one in four shot that Clemson wins the national championship followed by Alabama Georgia. Notre Dame in Washington, ryen russillo I thought what jumps off the page you there? Clemson's loaded on defense their entire defensive line. One of the linebackers top thirty players in the league. They have a little bit of a quarterback controversy, which is ironic because Alabama also, number two. On that list. You could say the two top teams have some quarterback questions, but. Least they have depth of that position. It might have more to do with Clemson schedule here, but they play am. Bama plays Louisville just like Clemson does as well. So maybe it's the LSU game. But I imagine some of the analytics projecting a slightly easier road for Clemson, but talent wise, there's no team that's more has more depth than them. So it makes sense. I'm gonna probably clues returns, fifteen star, Alabama returns tan. There are a lot more likely to win the ACC than family.
