Six thousand team was all by whatever that was really bad. That two thousand eighteen was also bad. Two thousand eight was fucking really long. Time ago steve. I know but they got blown out. That was a bad team. that's fine. it's very top heavy. Were at home. We're going to have the core set up way why we got fans back. I don't give fuck at twelve feet off. The course or not american waiting for this shed like think about phil. Wynn shit in chills. The fans are going to be bucking that stupid. We got the better players. The whole new ballgame fresh blood. We're gonna start our run. a dominance. Now we're gonna win here. Then we're gonna win and twenty twenty two over. In bucket europe with the safety blitz bunket top. Do you know where it is in. Twenty twenty two Is it porush now in italy. That'd be fun reaction about that. I just don't know a before golf course in italy. Well it's room now really. Oh okay very good all right now. It's time for you to go on mute. Because i'm going to talk for a while. "Get it wrong of course and they still penalized guy at the end of the day. Because it's it's the authority of the pg of america who has the levee at not the rules official. I'm worried that poulter is going to go. Bug-eyed nuts they'll be too. I'm worried that i've been crapping on lee westwood. Be after peace b.'s. My boy and i've been crapping omni's is going to turn back. The clock listened. And i'm worried about as i go through my best. There is a clear narrative of how. I think this ryder cup is gonna go. And if i'm wrong i am going to lose in a big way. So yeah that's kind. How i well no. It's not every week because there's always different options with stop shop so this is like a clear structure of how many matches i think guys are going to go with. Who's they're gonna get paired with and just generally what's going to happen day by day and if it's a house of cards and cards come that of that it's gonna come crashing down for me so we will see what happens. Yeah i mean. I i think all those things are fine. You worried about. I think pulse especially like like i told you that is the old guys fucking like. Like what else does poulter really eating poultry gets up for the whatever fuck and garbage like rocket mortgage like. He's not getting up for that like he's getting up for the ryder cup and that dude's a killer and he's competitive and that's his thing he's identity. Everybody knew he was getting picked from a captain's pick him and sergio scare me a little bit as becoming as are becoming an old guy like i start respecting the one. Maybe so i think probably. I think blood with your fears as well. Hopefully i join you with the weather. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna not freak out about the weather until probably tomorrow night. "No i'm just talking like a chance to like knock off the guys from the big even though a lot of them play on the big tour whatnot like you had this built in integrate tells the story like how tony jacklin started to flip the script on like taking control. Team asking for captain's picks taking control of course setup. He was the first one to do that. Not the americans on that and like actually devising a strategy to approach things where they could actually win in the. Us had one so frequently like to the point like the the globetrotters versus the washington generals to the point with event was close closer to going away. Then it was like continuing until like when europe got involved that nature of just constantly being expected to win with almost no upside possible like has still not fully worn on the. Us side guys really start to see it clearly. Laid it out brilliantly in terms of like how easy it was to get savvy on board and drum up like the interest in like taking. This thing back saw us the question. Is it time to invite honest. Abe and mackenzie hughes those guys to the squad problem. That's going to solve the weight. Because basically what he was describing is what the president's cup is right. Now we're like or what the ryder cup is. Right now. Europe versus the us to certainly not at the same not even remotely the same scale. It's like not even in the shines pop shines pods are really good it is. I believe different content. It is and it's all basically. It's going to be extended excerpts from his book. I believe you know. We're doing all kinds of free ads. But i believe his book is up for preorder so it should be a very interesting tale about the ryder cup in a way that i don't think people have done if i couldn't like worship this event more than i do and i've learned something in almost every line. S up all right. I got something so tweeted it out today. Okay everybody's been dogging us johnson or is everyone everyone is everyone does soulmate. People are like putting him in the place of the malcontents in of all the guys not want to push back on. This people are just saying he doesn't give a shit which i don't think you can defend. I don't think he was sure anything. That's an issue. This is included in any. No but i think he. But it's like it's not like sports. How he plays normal gall phones talked about the number and he was been the number one player in the world like very recently like how. How is that a problem that this is how he plays every tournament huge problem. If you're number one player in the world and you go to france and go one and four were told on hold on. France was different though all kinds of off the field. chick owner. Yeah didn't they get in that whole big all sorts of bad shit going on his life. Which i'm the excuse maybe indicative. I wanna go. I want to you if you take out all right. You can't you can't take go through. But i wanna take out a twenty ten if you take a final round pebble. Beach and whistling straights. So solid chambers fluke. Because i think this is commentary on the ryder cup as well where you can scuffled during during Singles but play. Well in two of the sessions on friday saturday and be lauded as a hero whereas if you step up during singles and win your match like nobody really remembered that is especially in the context of certain years ago. So i think twenty ten he gets stuck with mickelson the Here's players know like you know. Fill you know fills fills not agree ryder. Cup player right. Like for whatever reason he likes doing his own shit. You're not gonna like this. But anything. You're gonna like phil and dj's ryder cup. Records are very similar in terms of like their stature. Definitely out they should not be sub. Five hundred ryder cup players. Both of them and they both are. I'm just saying all right so. Dj and phil go. Oh and two together In why didn't fill that. Dj hit any of the shots in those matches or listen on question and then the following day Dj goes out with furic. Who i think we all know his his ryder cup records stellar and then dog. Great and then. Dj comes out and beats the shit out of martin. Calmer all right so because one in three okay you got me. See the point. You're trying to clear w so so. Twenty ten and twenty eighteen france. Were not great showings. Dj twenty twelve twenty fourteen. Twenty six like he played really fucking well in the ryder cup. Despite being paired with cooter for locates good teams layer for a while. He he also bonds the ball around the ballpark and kind of which is good. Enforce them i was gonna say yeah. That's that's not a that's not a. That's not an indictment so then all right so larger thesis here all right. Let's cut to the dj in Dj three zero in Twenty five twenty twelve medina in a loss. Not the problem there twenty fourteen. Dj goes didn't go. He suspended okay when he was that. The unfortunate jesse. Jackson crossing his fingers as you scroll through the data hoping that it makes all daiki tried to twenty-six genuine scotland went to and to hurt his back. He went one singles and he got he got paired up with with A he beat chris would. So that's not that's not a good singles. Throw it in verse here. You got about you. Got the back out on his tank. Little mini wrap that i. I know what you're trying to say. Here's what i'm going to say. Is i would singles part of it. Sounds like he's sucks and team play. So why don't you just take. Dj bryson and brooks all the all the malcontents as you say. Sit there ashes. Let them go take their naps. Play their video games. Hang out teams and then just try them out for singles on sunday with that. I've led you into the trap that my friends is where all of sally's strokes gained. Advantage comes from from those players..

"You bet i'm just going to say that on threatening my back my country and i absolutely totally yet. You're also vetting europe. Yeah it it's like it's more important. When in pride in your country ramani we learned one lesson from this tournament. Now i have also country than blank. Everything patrick can't lane top. United states scorer. Ken so you. And i are on the same page mr birthday. What a patrick can't lay top rookie. So who's the against like morikawa burger english and somebody else probably sheth right. Okay just playing so bad down the stretch. I don't know. I don't know if i would take him necessarily he's i think it's a stone cold killer so so that's measured by like most points scored right. I just wanted. I just want to talk if it's if it's done that i think he's more likely to play like you want the guys who are going to play a lot like arnold burger and harassing which you're gonna play all five so that would be the only reason i wouldn't bet them otherwise burger. I think it's a really good choice and top european scorer. You always taking on more of a leadership role now team europe. Someone who said like hey you know what. I don't really like golf. That much when i think is gonna get it rolling here representing the europe. Rory rory mcilroy top european gory score score row for the europe and those are our golf. That's for the ryder cup coming up this weekend. Couple of women have more minutes here on the show. If you gotta talk about hats or we want to hold you to hold for mba stuff. Yeah let's just do hats for a couple minutes here. Why don't we just do like a full segment on the tomorrow. All right so we'll hold works. Nba okay so can the people out there tell them about your. What's happening with the ken. Barkley had collection. Yes my my daughter's like having a total connection upstairs so because it's almost almost clearest bedtime. She's pretty pretty unhappy about that. hats so Trista came on the show yesterday and is basically like initially said she loved the patagonia hats which have become a staple of the lockers. Some ken barclay. You better. you bet headwear every day. And then nick prester on it because it was pretty obvious that she was not actually liking the hats and she was like yeah there..

Okay tyler tyler up i tyler. Are you excited for the ryder cup this week. And you're going to be like super into it. You love golf. After last week's last weekend's the bockel when i had maverick mcnealy and he just totally on his face. I don't know if i'm excited to watch golf this week. But i'll have it on like my tablet. i'll have it on. I don't know how much i'll be watching it. But it'll be on this weekend. Tyler for the ryder cup united states vs europe. I got three. We'll go with the two. I got a match. Paul case you overcome work. How i don't know what's wrong with more calendar he's hurts. I don't know if he's fatigued he said he was. He said he's fine. But paul casey is going to be relied on by the europe and he's playing almost all these events so i like him modest. One ten took speed top point score. He came in second whistling straights. Like two hundred and fifty two fifteen of sergey brin the chat at whistling. i learned that it can't and rick rick. And i notice you literally said paul relied on by the europe whether it was like the europeans or europe and he got stuck in the middle amazing. My notes written wrong. So they says. Paul casey the europe so i just read what i wrote. I also got speed top points. Actually renaming renaming the continent. It's now notice cases. There were too many europe's and we want to be ohio state. We wanna be the europe. That's beefed-up usa point scores seven to one and if you like a narratives i got one for you john to score all to go five. No in the ryder cup is forty two one. I think this is a full rahm. I think he's pissed off that he didn't win the player of the year. I think he's gonna come for the americas throats. So jon rahm forty two one to get to get five points the all five events. He has to win of them. So i got that. Casey over more cow and speeds top usa.

"What the so. I was blown away by like how different the pricing was. If you had to pick like maybe an under the radar gopher for the us like daniel. Berger hairs english or somebody off the radar or like you know anybody on europe aside from rom basically that might have like awesome performance. Either because you like them or they're good at play. Whatever it is who are core comes. Some builders that you're looking at the maybe are going to be priced like the favorites to do well but could do well. Yeah so let me just let me make sure that we're on the same page. So you get. If you win your match you could appoint you can also get half a point of view tire matt. Death is just half a point and obviously you know the team that wins so we're looking at that market. What we have to consider his who is going to play the most matches. So you talk about burger. You talk about You know harris english. Well they're likely only gonna play. Maybe one two most of those of those paired matches where you know you're with a partner and then they obviously will play their singles matt so the most of they can get us three points. That's not enough to last ryder cup. We saw molar in fleetwood. Basically single hanley house united states in france they played. They played all five matches and they each went five. No that's what we're looking for. So the reason why those guys are priced that way because wrong will play five. Notches rory will likely play by not just speed and jt will both all likely play five. Not just because they are probably the best team that we have On the american side. So that's why you're kind of looking at those guys guys that i like under the radar. I think victor holand has a chance to play at least four matches. Apparently everybody wants to play with him. He sets up very well for the gulf war. She has a long bomber they will set it up the favor of the americans and he thought style. If you can get four matches. How to hoaglund jessica four. No use the guy price a little bit higher than that market. Nothing is a guy. Who can you definitely win it matter. You casto's cam barclay terrific tuesday chatting betting the ryder cup with our pal james mazzola of the four profit podcast. James is on twitter at j. j. d. j. as as we approach sunday when we get into these singles match up so we can bet on going to be absolutely awesome can be great bending experience sunday along obviously with the national football league week number. Three which american golfers are so bad in singles. We should be betting against coming up on. Oh man this is the hard part because you single head to head in these matches really the reason why your has been so successful is because they typically do bring the better putters to this golf tournament and when you're talking about a matchplay situation where we see this every year at the dell in texas. It usually just end up spitting out some random results right..

All right let's move on to pairing because this now rolls into bedding as trying to predict who is going to be where there's talk in a advice from some people are giving that you know before you bet all of these like who's going to have the most points or anything. You should wait to see what happens on thursday. You lose the number. That's the problem. Books are moving. That's terribly yeah. It's not good advice. Have to predict now. And you could do you. Basically just look back at pass. Rider coast past presidents scotch. And kinda get a good idea. Who's gonna play what. Who's and the goal. Is you gotta pick a guy who's clearly four or five sessions. That's the only way you gotta shot actually win that. What are the us side. So friday morning. Alternate-shot boston capper. If you're steve stricker out there friday morning brought his shot alternate shot t box number one Short are four. Probably a lot of guys music lesson driver. Sep a wedge. I wanna now. What time does the next team go out. It's just whenever third done with their approach yet. It's like every ten. Minutes is so i want. I want bryson alternate-shot Do explain explain that one. "Cup is six into. How do you howdy possibly explained that to because like i rather unfairly people because the fact you never wanna major on the tour that somehow being labeled as not being able to play under pressure pressure doesn't get any bigger than the ryder cup and may no one ever has been better than you. So how do you. How do you delineate the to usually. It's you know you see somebody with tiger woods. It's been the complete opposite effect in a way. I you know i. It goes back to back to this crazy golf and anybody illicitness here would understand how crazy the game is. yes yes. I can play under pressure. Everybody gets to gets to a certain position in the game can. It's just a matter of if your opponents not having such such a good time or or someone does something fantastic. I mean i was going to get beaten in their. Id cup if someone came out and shot nine under. I mean best elect to them It just so happened that they didn't go off to a flyer and and you've had it. Francesca monari won the first two holes against tiger. When i was camped in in in two thousand ten we thought okay. That's good and then tiger birdies nine out the next eleven seven and six. You think what the hell a half of their you know it. Just just you get fortunate. You get unfortunate. Whatever and and a happen to play some good golf. Within that time. I hold some good parts. I putted well. i wasn't. I wasn't afraid because the ryder cup. I had other people on my back. You know fortunate in the time that we played the right account we had..

"High five. Like patrick broke my hand in two thousand sixteen when he holed out that wedge like number six i i mean i mean he was just so much fun playing with a partner that i have a hard time. I had a hard time on the singles days of stepping up with the with the same kind of intensity. Some i need to work on for our team's going forward Should i be so fortunate to to make as many as i can. It's it's a. I feel like i let the team down there and in being going out pretty early and having a chance to put right on the board there in twenty fourteen. That really could've made an impact. So that that hurt at the end of that. But personally but i knew i wasn't playing while going in i wasn't inform i was working my hardest to be as good as i could be and and really just had an awesome time that week no matter what. There's nowhere to hide on that golf course if you're not if you're not striking that was that was with a premature wildest setup i'd seen that seventeenth hole that fairway looked like it had been moved it and i'm sure that people will say that it wasn't moved in but that was the smallest fairway for four hundred eighty five yard ever see ethic now at the rough grown india. Next up brad. Faxon talking about his ryder cup. Experience in nineteen ninety-five. You made the right up team through that through that final round riviera. What was your first radical experience like. Well you get. I get questions. What was the most she ever been in your life. Yeah and and people always say it must've been you know your first time. Your tee shot at the masters. Or on the i t at the ryder cup or you know a putt to win your first tournament major championship. Which i never did. But i can tell you at the ryder cup. In ninety five we played a practice round on monday when the gates were closed. So there were no people no spectators and then tuesday we went out. And i got a pairing with loren roberts. Peter jacobsen in corey pavin and peter. And i were a potential four-ball team Lanny lanny wanted us to be the first ones out and that morning that particular boarding in oak rochester later september so it was cool. It wasn't cold. But i would say it was fifties and peter and i were going to go out there and play to walk from the practice t to the To the i t which was a hundred yards maybe longer There was a gauntlet there and there were people waving flags screaming. Usa and we'd gone from dead silent course the day before all of a sudden thousands and thousands of people practice sponsor rowdy. Gosh was incredible and none of us had seen this before. I don't think we were prepared for that. And we're walking up there where all wear red white and blue. The flags are gonna people high five and we're walking up. That was fun and we walk up onto the tea. You'll just kinda the back side of the. I t there. It's standard on the. I t byron nelson george herbert walker bush waving american flags and normal tournament right. Yeah and i'm like are nelson and any kebab brad. And i'm like he knows my god. So and then it was like uncanny. There was the voice of god. Said and on the t i to play from the united states of america which i'd never had before maybe i had walkup brad faxon. I didn't know. I was gonna be the first one and i i was like oh i don't know if i can do. And this one thousand nine hundred ninety to ninety five. I don't want you know i wouldn't want to not play with justin for twenty years of playing in the ryder cup and be like man. I mean these are and don't want to call it exhibition but these are like these should be really fun to even with the intensity that we that we go into them with like. How cool would it be to play with one of your best friends that you grew up since you were fourteen. Thirteen traveling the world with and all the sudden. We both are able to do what we love to do. Get onto her. Become major champions. How awesome would that be for us to be able to team it up for our country in the biggest event that golf offers in the ryder cup. Like it's just like a man. It'd be whether happens this year. Not like i'd love to play with them and that they came out with with those pairings and that's what we went within me. Justin play great. I mean it was right. It was a blast and we had so much fun and then the drama. That happened after is just you know. I think jim did it jim. I think jim did an awesome job. I think jim did a great job as a captain. I think he he was. He was a players captain and he has to be the one to sit on the sword. And it's like it's not him like we just didn't play well. It's that simple. It wasn't because of his job. It was like look if you had a. If you if you. If this were seventy two hole event there would have been a couple americans. In the top twelve and the other twelve spots would have been the europeans. They just played better that week. The course was set up so well for them. They did a great job of that. They found where you know. Our our issues were in our games where their advantages were and they took advantage in. And we've we did the same thing couple of years before it's just you got to be able to overcome that compensate for that and hit the right shots and make the pots and and they just did that more than we did. It's that simple. Like they just outplayed us. Yeah i think the drama definitely unfolded because of the poor play. The it wasn't necessarily the the the other way around short. yeah. I mean on sunday. I lost my singles match. And i played really played way worse than i did with justin. And there's no question that having a partner where where in the same way. When i played with patrick i mean by sunday. It's a letdown in a singles match. Because you just get this. You're so fired up to play with a partner..

"Gulf blueprint dot com. Check it out. Let's get back to the next up. Its bones again talking about the comments made after the two thousand fourteen ryder cup in the fall from that and how things played out In the coming years and months it was an an absolute indictment in the process. It's to use your words and I mean this has been building for some time. I think you know you could it was. You could have a problem with the way the that the captains were selected. And i'm not talking about tom watson. I'm just talking about generally speaking over the last fifteen twenty years But again i think the players also all wanna be part of the process and you can't you can't go to a guy you can't go to a guy the day before the matches start and say okay you're gonna you're gonna now play with this guy and you've got you know today to get used to his golf ball award of the case may be you know you've got to take these things very very seriously and again. You know to kind of reiterate how how well the europeans doing it. They go so far as to having control of their times of their european tour so the captain of their ryder cup teams was basically putting guys together on thursday and friday or or calling the tour and say put these two guys together so they could get used to a one another being around each other seeing how they play Spending time together on the golf course because they were thinking some months down. The road is putting them out together. You know in in some kind of format at the ryder cup. And that there was just they weren't leaving anything in the left to chance in terms of You know how far they go to win these things and the setup of the golf courses and all this stuff and and we weren't doing that and and it had to happen at some point collectively these guys had to get together and and get some kind of movement that turn out to be this task force to get it fixed and you know certainly you know phil took it upon himself to kind of get this ball rolling And you can like it or not like it but the reality is that a tremendous amount of positive you know in terms of the. Us ryder cup movement came out of this and had a lot to do with with the winning team. Next up jordan. Speed talking about the twenty eighteen ryder cup. Gotta talk about the ryder cup. Some the first question. I have is regarding kind of some of the drama. That happened on the back half of an afterwards. Could you sense that that building up while you're there or during that week that you did that there was going to be some drama unfolding. No i no. I don't think so it was. I felt like everybody went into it. It felt a lot like the president's cup in seventeen felt pretty. Light felt as light as any ryder cup. It felt that. I've been part of you know i think people were. We're trying to figure out people. Were trying to figure out the pairings. There is a you know some new guys there are some. I don't think brooks dj. We're going to go which you know you left two guys playing at the top of the world Who do you pair them with. Pretty similar styles a game and then tiger obviously being in there and him being in the pod with or fire squat whatever we call it with With me and in just an patrick it was. How is this going to mix and match. Who's gonna play with. Who what format. So i think. We're i think there was a little bit of like a little bit of hesitation on pairings but other than that. I mean off the course it was. It was fantastic and i felt like everyone had trust with so many guys inform everybody. I mean really. Everybody except i myself was playing well going into it and i mean i think by dj standards. He had finished twentieth week. So that's that's pretty low for him. So now i guess before you and patrick hugged it out at farmers had you guys spoken at all before that and is it totally bygones be bygones with everything that happens..

"Mean. I mean i've already been asked to potentially wanna play with a couple months ago like it's it's it's a lot more than just we get there and also down like all right. So who do you wanna play. You know it's it's i mean. I was practicing months and months before tigers ball in case we were two to play together. So it'd be ready for that and he was doing same thing with my ball. He was doing the same thing with periods ball. So it's hike it. It's it's a lot more than than people think. Can you teach us. We'll save the draw chip for later. Because i i wanna do still talk a little bit more radical. So what do you honestly. A lot of people correllated. You're the only one that went over and played the french open. And then you went four and one. Did it help to have seen that golf course. Do you think it's i mean anytime. You see golf course at helps. Nothing could possibly hurt. But you know. I hate to pick on them. But it's like it's like overstaying saying phil wasn't playing while but it's not like if you went over he'd be like oh now i'm like because he did go over and play it before the open a lot of guys i mean a fair amount of our guys went and played it beforehand but the thing is too is the french was it was firm. It was really firm to where it was. I mean. I remember on nine. I was hidden five. Would like five iron pretty much every day. And in the in the ryder cup. I was sitting in three would and then i was trying to get through it into the green. So it's just the wind was totally different. It was firm. It was mixed the rough play a lot differently. I would imagine yes. So the rough was The rough was every bit as long at the franchise because it was it was i just remember drove it really really well. That week and i was glad that i did so. I'd have to play out the rough but obviously it was being a lot more wet and everything like that. That changes a lot in terms of being able to get to the grains and such. Well what did you think of the way. That golf course was set up. I'll ask that one first. And then kind of transitioned into an idea. I have about four set up in the ryder cup. But do you think did you like the way that course was set up that you think it was a good golf course to play for that event. I mean i thought it was fine. It's it's not. I mean such a golf course. It's not an it was kind of funny to me because like some guys were like god like how i can't believe on narrow they got these fairways in the roughs. Up on my. I got news for you. It was just like this at the french open. Like this is no different. And i just remember reading stuff online. And it's like you know. This is such a typical home course thing or home field advantage where the europeans are setting it up and i just wanted to be like this is not any different than the score says. It's hard offcourse. it's i mean. I think seven or eight under one the french open and it's like a hardcore so they didn't do anything different in the setup the course definitely i don't know i mean i liked it. I thought it was a. It's a good test. And it has the opportunity depending on the conditions in the wind and weather. Whatever is too you can have some birdies. But it's also especially in that one that got windy and that alternate-shot you're winning holds with pars and bogeys. So i guess it just depends on what you like watching. Yeah i just remember looking down that seventeenth fairway and like that is for four hundred eighty five yard hole when the laughed most narrow fairway. I feel like i've ever. It just looked like it.

"Then we'd be hanging three and two then. won't be beat them five and four and alternate-shot that that that was a dale. Never forget because we're planning in the afternoon. And i birdied the first five holes. Larry birdie six aubrey. Seven larry eagle date. We were nine under through eight holes. We ended up. you know. i had two footer. i'd to two-putt from two feet to close them out five and three or five and four. whatever it was savvy. Didn't give it to me. So i i just i just back candidate in you hundred percent did you tell them. You're that bleep. Good i told him that later. That was at the belfry with with amirah in that net. The i mean that was just an a cool thing about that was after i told him that i got mark and attornal. We lifted it up. We were six up in six to play. They want a couple of holes to stay allowed. But we you know we're we're gonna win. All he do is tau hole on the last six holes so we you know we were up there so it was that was always the those are the ones i remember those the fun parts of the wins the the the celebration stories with necklace it. Pga in eighty three. We got out of jack. People don't normally see let his hair down so to speak. We had dinner at their. The entire team has dinners every night. Starting on was it friday night. Or i guess thursday night before the first round so we had three straight nights. Dinners at jack's house. He was that close to where we were playing so instead of having eating team room were right there. We went to his house cookout now. That was seriously cool. Yeah you know. We're all interesting interesting. Thing about jack's house we're walking around. Where's your stuff. He didn't have half his trophies out. I mean everybody wants to see the different tro. Nothing's out it's like come on man stored away somewhere in the garage. Well i was when i was talking to. I am jeeva. Gohmert that while i was in new york talking to mark mccormack way back in early seventies and he said you know he's trying to impress me this is arnold palmer's office over here at like arnold got an office everywhere that they've got a building right so so and he opened the closet door. There's a master's replica sitting in the closet on the shelf. I saw what's it is. Therefore you know i mean the things you see in Is anyway go different next up. Justin thomas shortly after the twenty eighteen ryder cup talking about his experience in france. I can't even come close to comparing you know liberty and then the golf nationale. I mean it's just so you know you look at the i t alone and it just was. I mean just the the nerves that i had at the ryder cup or something that i've never experienced before. And what was it like. I mean what will in what way does as you hold the club. It's feels i'd tell everyone that. So like i hit five hundred off the first tee. And i hit five t. I don't or off of the tee box. I don't put it on a t. Just put it on the ground. So i can just kind of cover a little bit more and i just tell everybody that if i had to put it on tv. I don't think i could have really. Yeah jordan walking over the bridge and i mean we had everything all planned out. But we haven't really discussed do do you wanna go. I wanna go. I i think in best ball. It's a so much of just kind of whatever the mo is you know what i mean and we're walking these. You know you want me to go first. You want to go. And i was just like auto i'm going to get it was like okay. Just kind of let me go but it was. I was mad especially in past. I've learned when i'm nervous. My mrs laughed. And that's not a good miss there. So i mean i'm just well it's got to be. I would imagine how i am with the i t that i'm somewhat nervous about if i can put dr run. I'm fine. big old club had. Yeah but that t- that was cruel. Everyone's gotta hit. I r- hold on just the rough you know if you hit it in. He really don't have a chance but it just as yeah. I mean i was joined at such a great job with me and just kind of getting me relax and kind of eased into it and because you were you were in my mind. Amped nervous nervous might not be the way word as you're anxious you've seemed very prepared for it. Yeah you were ready to do it. And you weren't afraid to take the crowd on your animated and it's very you don't you don't really know who's gonna come out and be kind of play that role. I mean we could. We saw patch agreed in twenty fourteen. We didn't know he was going to be like that. Nba just embraced the moment like that. Some people get pucker up a little bit more. So yeah did your president's cup experience because it was kind of still audibly. That was your only ryder cup. Experience that your president presidents cup experience help in that regard. Yeah i think so. And i told i was talking to zander about that a little bit and i was like an atlanta said dude. I think that it's you have this talking to can't lay as well as i think that you have this so perfectly mapped out to where i think. It's so big to plan a presence cut. I mean obviously there. We're going to be just fine if they didn't then they play ryder cup but just this experience. I mean it's just like coming down the stretch and a major where the chance to win. I mean you can learn from it but you. There's a good chance on a lot of those guys in the team. Room are gonna be you know guys that are going to be in your team room at the at the ryder cup. But also the vice captains the guys that i got to know david duval at the at the ryder cup and i didn't really know him that well before you know and then feerick the president's cup and freddie i didn't really know that well and now i feel like i know so it's just getting to those guys and being comfortable around them but just knowing the guys in the team room of things that i think..

"He grabbed her head and dunked the whole thing. I mean it was it. Was jack nicklaus. Yeah jack waterboarded bar with the ryder cup army. Who damnedest thing you've ever seen so it was It was good stuff but it was at a picture of jack with a champagne cork in his mouth. Olga cup i mean it was. It was some really cool stuff from that. It was quite a party. The damnedest thing was we all went and cleaned up. We destroyed the sweet. Pj that you know we go to dinner. Come back this sweet. Is they've cleaned it up. It's perfect and we win. When added again. I remember carrying crenshaw. Laney mon is bad really. Yeah i mean literally. He couldn't he couldn't talk. I mean it was. It was quite enough. It was a hell of a celebration what what makes people so much more relaxed in that setting. Or what is it just the opportunity to to share an actual victory with people that you want it with you know. We had a team a lot of good friends on that on that team. I mean with three wake forest guys team. Jay haas curtis strange and myself. We had that in common ben. And i've been friends Jack in our friends. I mean i'll look at who's on that team. Fuzzy was a friend. Yeah i mean we were all pretty close back then much like the young guys are today. Okay we all about the same age. We're all pretty well established in our careers at that time. I'm trying to think of as anybody on that team. It was maybe a rookie gil. Morgan was there play. Well he played with my partner one of the matches but overall it was a bunch of guys that were head very similar careers at that point in time. Yeah what's your favorite goto ryder cup. Storing your favorite memory. Favourite goto story may have already told her it on here. But well. I mean. I've always because he was such an integral part of it. It's probably always sevi- you head to get back in his face. You could not let him intimidate you as they did. You ever have any personal run-ins yeah. I whole nineteen eighty five. I think i'm playing with markle mirror in the morning. The second day at the belfry By in the second the second day in the morning margaret mary. now. Playing sevi- in manuel pinero going on the first hole. Best ball we get on the green. And i've got about twenty twenty five footer for birdie seventies about twelve feet his coins in my line ahead move it. I pull them up. It hit his coin bounce right when the whole he was living. You had me. You have me do that on purpose. Being moved my coins though you can make that. But i said yes i got writing say said yes. I'm that blanking good. Don't forget it. I told this is all mira's first ryder cup match ever. He gets his white as a sheet standing on the first. What's going on us. it love it. Let's go kick. We had them six zero six to play. Oh my god. That's amazing. But we first hole i pull up. His coin goes and he just did it on purpose to. That's the only way i can make. The putt was aiming to dime over here. Fifteen feet from alma. I'm gonna try and bank it off this dime to get it in a whole year right. I'm that good. So i said yeah. I'm that good. Don't forget it right in his face. Zinger tells the story to of at the belfry Forget who somebody came up to him. Before he's getting play savvy and before the match somebody comes up to says Don't let him pony stuff on you and it's like the second hole. He has scuff on his ball. And he's like. I'm taking this ball out of play. Zinger wouldn't let them do it when like looking like i probably should have let him but i had this mindset of like. I'm not letting them get away with anything so i mean how. Where does it start. I mean how much of a reputation do you do. You already have to have hit back from day one. I mean. I played him play before times out now. Four no against him so that was a good start. So larry nelson ib hin antonio garrido Three straight matches and seventy nine. So and then. Larry beat him in single so seventies very first ryder cup ever. He lost four batches To start and so But you had to you. He just was. I know when. I was captain. Tom lehman was going off. I against mccurdy strange. I both got leaving and we told me so. He is going to pull something. Go right back at him. Don't let him get the upper hand. It won't make sense what he's trying to do but just go right back. After he did on the twelfth holland lehman went right back after and beat him say. It's always just weird to me. How how that approach almost get celebrated you know and it sounds like from your perspective. It's not something that should be praised nearly as much. Now's not at all i. I think it's i think a lot of the antagonism in the ryder cup came from from seventies behavior. You know being in everybody's business. I think you know what the things he did would probably tick us off so much that we would get more upset it what was happening. And you get more defensive on stuff so there's no question you know that i mean i think he was if there had to be an antagonise going back and all the ryder cup so when everything started thank you the points directly at savvy and no one else. First time that he played in seventy nine larry nelson played him And each time we played he in carita. We beat him. Worse each time We beat him to and one..

"They're not going to ask phil he standing there behind this fall on the second green and he's got no coined marcus ball with nothing and literally literally you hear this voice from the crowd. Some guys some spectator that kind of picked out. What's been going on a guy goes. Hey your mo- you need a coin to mark your ball and your mo- turns run goes. As a matter of fact. I do and all of a sudden coins. Come raining out of the corral. And i swear to you chris we were. It was just this. Incredibly surreal moment. Were there were twenty. Thirty forty fifty coins rolling across the green that spectators if thrown at him. So we're out there. Picking up coins You know finally picks up. Marx's ball misses the three-footer and then topped it off the next tea and phil went on to to to win a match. He topped it did he. Hit a fairway wood off the next tea and kind of coal topped it. It in the heel and triplet you know. I don't know one hundred yards down wherever it went but He was It was crazy crazy moment. He topped it off. The tee fill one the whole and went on to win the match. Easily paul as her from episode one forty one talking about seventy playing gets him in the ryder cup and yet as won't be the last time we hear from paulin this either. I remember losing that match. And then i got With chip beck and we won and then we played faldo losing one match and that was a revenge match for me. I remember telling chip. On the i t you mean. Though flags are going they came up. And i remember saying chip bag. It was pretty loud. I said chipper. I don't know about you. But i'd taken this match personal. I love it and we made eleven birdies. They may nine birdies well and we beat them to and one then. I was really confident. We went blob. Got lucky so lucky. Because i do their superstars. I could have drawn a bunch of guys you never heard of but i kept drawn in. It's just a blind draw. It's luck as you went up against savvy in the singles that wasn't pre-arranged at all. None of it is yeah. it's just a luck. who do you get in. Our strategy was to look for their best players in some respects because they were better than us. We knew it but Get our hottest players out. I or whatever else first match out. Because i was playing so well and i pluck savvy which is the greatest gift ever to get savvy and then we battled right from the beginning and it's a famous match and Yeah i mean. There's a lot of controversy went with that match. And you know. I'm i'm vindicated by because of anti mcphee and and the refereed matches you know. Tell you what happened. But what did happen well. He accused me taking backdrop eighteen. I figured you'd probably get to that point like semi. He tells her to drop it. Just kept pointing to a me in the hall and backwards. Oh okay But we had stuff going on the whole match. I called him the king a gamesmanship and he said the american teams eleven. Nice guys zinger. That was ninety one right. Oh yeah but still but as scuffed ball incident from eighty nine. That was from ninety one. No that was eighty nine and their singles match. Well see i draw savvy on saturday night and curtis walks up to me. Don't let them pull anything on you tomorrow. So my mindset shifts so then we get to the i t and curtis goes off last night off. I there's a big gap between those times and he comes walking up to me on the i e feeling good. Don't slam pulling thing on you today. So back then. The golf balls are shredded by the square groups and we were both using square groove wedges. We hit irons off. The second t. Three irons both of us wedge into the green. He it about twelve feet. I headed about four feet and We get up there. And he takes his ball and tosses it to his caddie iain and says i take this ball out of play and It's like curtis popped in my head was shredded..

"I'll put leading out the team at singles now to his ego on plan to you know a relatively wanted to fly. And he's like really what will already say about that then said as acuity rory's goodwood with all of this we're gonna put Number three because putting out number one Expectation on his shoulders. I know the last two european captains have put out number one but that hasn't worked out too ollie's mouse both of his games. You know. I personally wouldn't be putting out the best player number one because they've got nowhere to go at number. One expected to win as a huge amount of expectation shoulders. And that was my mind. My grandma said michael. Instinct is the best ones of the street fighters. The guys are the biggest heart. That's the guy you put out number one gram and you're the guy with the biggest steam so it was all about managing not just an example communication on a about a hundred grand so he went away then. He played his two games with a with with victor. They won both games. Grain was terrific and then he went out number one in the singles on one on the singles on the point may to about playing the same grand is look. Grandbaby played this role in the first few days. Only playing one match. You're going to have an advantage in singles. Advantage will be. America are going to do one or two things about saudi always. Don't wanna two things that a lot of put the best player number one all out the player who's playing the best. That week i'd away graham they will fade seventy two holes in the first two days. You only have thirty six. You're going to be fresh or going out against whoever you're playing against a matter who it is and that's ultimately what happened you know. He went out against jordan speak. Who was their best player. And and jordan. Tired i mean jordan. Got three over stadium. Graham but but faded dan. Graham went to win two months so all those conversations were how two weeks in advance the ryder cup game new well in announcing the a cup exactly what really will play and ultimately what happened. It was a different vibe. I made a captain brings divide chris. dan a lot more serious guy on them. You certainly wouldn't be playing music in the in the team room. The we wear some but that was okay. We all had a huge amount of respect for bernard langer real statesmen of the tour statements statesman of the team. Very dramatic in how he was going to captain. We knew that a meeting. Seven o'clock meeting at seven. Not one minute past seven. We all new to the early. He would wait. Even though we all be sitting down to five minutes to seventy wouldn't come into the meeting room until it was. It was at seven o'clock. And i remember with a big long table like a big boardroom. Table in this marital talent thing we stayed in. And outside of detroit you it was just a generic boardroom table. I remember looking around before wanted to meetings and gone while they should be alive. We should have images on the wall here. There should be alive. We need to make enough. I'm ever captain one day you know. I'm going to have a team room. That's alive that's you know a can't be just another marietta boardroom. Anybody uses they. Should've images on the wall should curtains digital carpet. And i started dream of all these things which ultimately put in place in fourteen so bernard was very and he was loved. More hands on to me as i evolved into bay because i was formulating ideas. All the time he was a lot more hands on he was got involved in the players. Were doing on the cost. Something i didn't do. In fact i did. The opposite i stayed away from the players. Went around golf carson. You know. I didn't see my rollers town roy. Mcelroy to five are veterans. Six are because with the wind aero you need to do this a impulsive. Whatever the case may be. What's what's reading this book. The guys in front mr by by you know overeating or whatever so what baronet did what was very interesting was he stayed on the threes In generally pinpointed a few apart threes and are never really good story myself. Impolitic played tiger and davis on the afternoon of the second date..

One shot leads over the worst player on the back nine. Who is lexi thompson. I'll let's start with sasso first career. Lpga to a win. First major winner ever men or or women from the philippines I believe that she's going to jump into the world top ten. I think to number eight She's she was fortieth entering week. I think she's jumping into number eight now She can barely make a swing without people comparing her to rory mcilroy and The conflicted answer about that is that the rory comps are very real. I mean i was kinda screaming about it last winter during the twenty twenty. Uso women's open because we're swing is so darn identical. She literally has studied it on youtube. She watches a lot. He watches swing a lot and she wins her first major at nineteen rory when his first major at twenty one. The comps are not going away. She seems like a modern frighteningly. Good female golfer. And i'm excited to watch her future.

What something i really planned on doing. So i mean that's great for you know coming from cincinnati not knowing what i wanna deal just being in being able to do what. I love now riding. Horses wasn't something you planned on doing. So how did you end up doing it. I love grown up around the racetrack. You know with my dad and everything and the court skills to sit down. And i used to be able to sit and ruin i kid i just love you. Know everything about the jackie's and everything like that so I was getting close to sixteen. And i was still light enough but i mean i was taller and my dad said hey just give it a shot you know ryder cup races get out your system and then you know that way you could say you did it and enjoyed it and everything like that so yeah so i got the right a couple races and after the couple i just got the bug and i just wanted to keep doing it i just couldn't you know give it up after that so i got lucky enough my dad was you know by and telling me you know who wanna do it to go for so that's what i've been doing. You mentioned that your peers jockeys vote on this award which makes it even more special. But this is an award. That doesn't mean necessarily that you are the greatest rider in the world but it. It means that you are a great person who has represented the sport in a fashion. That's deserving of having your name associated with jockey. Light george wolf so talk. Tell people about what this were award actually means to you I mean everything is just like You know like Like george wolf me myself as a jockey. I try to help everyone that i can help you know. Watch this and watch the so. I kind of felt like that. That's what i should do to help people. And then you know coming up apprentice jockey and stuff like that and try to help them out the same way. I was told you know what i mean you know. Just try to let everybody know that. We're we're riders. And i mean we we learn every day. It's not something that we can say we master because if you think you've mastered then you you know you might need to be our sport. Because i don't think you ever mastered jackie. There's a lot of times that we we make mistakes all the time and we try to. We watched races. And we you know come back and make it better if we can so. I just try to explain that. So a lot of the young riders to that. You know we're going to always make mistakes. They just whether you can handle letting you know. Get back on the horse and you know you know i could older guy told me like when you get off the horse. Turn a page. as another. There was a match lawn waiting for you. So you gotta just keep your head up and just keep doing what you love and just keep doing it. And like i said. I was taught from the older riders. And i feel like. I'm kind of veteran writing. Now that i i should kind of you know help out. And like i said. I still take Are still you know. Talk to other riders and take advice moneywise all the time too so i mean. That's just something that. I think that we ought to do with individual plus we all out there out there for the same thing trying to win and i mean we all do it. You know safeway and everything that we're doing it the right way so

Golf's Biggest Winners of 2020
"All right. Sean it has been quite the year. it's not over. I'm not saying it's over. But i am saying we're here to get ahead of all those year end lists of winners losers best of we're tackling it midway through november where we winners this year. Did we win. I'm not confident that we were. There was a moment in the middle of september where you hung out with bryson into shambo after. He warned the. Us open lumberton potato. The me i'm gonna finish that offers a little bit pizza or game. We proceeded to miss a flight about six hours later. Yup and yet we were somehow still able to make it. Torrey pines south and talk to a bunch of the best golfers in the world in the next twenty four hours. Is the drop zone peaked. In twenty twenty. I think we had to peak. Then you the major winner. We go to play the next. Us open course at sunset. We have a great little afternoon at torrey pines. And then we hang out with zander and burger and morikawa and just korda the next day. And so yeah. That's where that's where we won. That's a really strong point. We didn't we didn't get to perform on the course as much as we like to in a typical year. But hey we're we're not really here to bring our golfed the people it's not about us you know who it's about it's about patrick. Reed patch agreed is by far one of the biggest winners of twenty twenty. All right start off years number one winner. Patrick reed defend yourself is one of the biggest losers of twenty nineteen. You'll remember that. He got stuck in some bunker fiasco in december of two thousand nineteen and we thought that it was gonna follow him alone for the entire year is is is swinging. You thought that people are gonna continue yelling at him while he was playing like. They did during his playoff in hawaii. David ferte call him. Captain oblivious which i thought was a great little nickname. Peter costas was telling people. I've seen patrick reed improve his lie in the rough numerous times and yet here we are twenty twenty. And we don't even do anything about this. We joke about it. We don't care about it. Patrick reed one in mexico. He contended i think you can say he contended at the. Us open he missed one cut after the restart. He's a winner this year. Because we don't care about what happened in past. This is where the phrase bigger fish to fry comes in our biggest problems. Man what a great time to be alive. Last december where our biggest worry was patrick. Reed kind of messing around in a waste. Bunker in the bahamas life was pretty good So yeah i mean. I think that that's a pretty fair one because look we just. Don't even talk that much about patrick reed right now. He's sneaky number eleven in the world. He's gonna be back on the us ryder cup team. If he if he keeps up you know his current run and play. He's been damn good.
