"Special lady WGN radio Molly James those of course with the iley brothers just came here to chill I was in 2006 on deaf soul and featured Ronald eiseley AKA mister Biggs He wrote it That's for good man in Tennessee who requested that one as well and been a while since I played his requests to wanted to get a few of them off tonight and we'll get back to Muslim tonight a request got more of scotties and bob and Memphis in fact had a couple including a great Ben Hewitt that I think I'll play next But in the meantime Andy is a Norwich Welcome to WGN radio Greetings to you and your listeners Raleigh I hope you're well this evening and I'm enjoying your program Thank you In the discussing the cameo Parkway story and specifically Bobby Rydell today I saw him perform I'm going to say maybe in the late mid to late 1970s in a south suburb of Chicago a club called the condesa del mar and he put on a terrific show back then And I know he was one of the costars in the movie bye bye birdie I can't really place him in any other films after that I know sometimes people make a film that maybe just isn't a very popular film and you never hear much about it but do you recall him making anything else other than by birdie A lot of TV stuff But how about motion pictures Yeah I don't know I know they purposely expanded the role to give him a speaking role and as far as I know that was it for Film Television mostly after that A lot of red skeleton shows Yeah right Yeah right exactly Mimic the character klem kadidal hopper very well It was supposedly clem's I think nephew or something Zeke I want to request a couple of songs by a different cameo artist Named Charlie Gracie I'm well The songs that I'd like you to play at some point are fabulous And I don't know if it's called butterfly or you butterfly It's butterfly and that's the record in some ways led to Charlie's doom because he sued them Because that was the number one record and of course Andy Williams did as well He never got any royalties So he sued him he finally got you know he won He got $50,000 but he was banned unofficially but banned from bandstand and everything else But that was the one that did it butterfly That kind of put that kind of put the kibosh on his American career That's exactly right And he continues to perform in Europe to this day And it goes over every year He's in his 80s now And we were close friends when he was when I was living in Philadelphia And I had him on the air all the time and he started doing a lot more geeks locally But yeah that lawsuit pretty much ended any hope for him which is just horrible And you know if he had to do it again he'd do it again because he said you know it was just a matter of being right of having something that should not have happened And I was going to write that wrong And he did Well Raleigh thanks for letting me speak to this evening Absolutely And I'll get your fabulous and butterfly here in the next couple of days Thanks for calling Okay have a good night Bye Yeah so that was a very very sad story but like I say he's huge in Great Britain and The Beatles in fact Paul McCartney was hoping that Charlie wrote fabulous because he did it on one of his albums and some other group that actually had one of the members had one of his old cigarettes and a little plastic bag that he'd smoked in tossed out on the sidewalk and they picked it up I mean he was a big deal And to this day still is still is but 99 ways and all that but butterfly was a huge hit And the Andy Williams covered and probably had a bigger hit with it but nonetheless camming has sold a lot on that And he didn't see a dime to lawsuit So 888-876-5593 is 88 88 Raleigh if it's on your mind we'll make sure that it's on mine and full shows tonight And tomorrow night and then we'll be on right after the Blackhawks on Thursday So I didn't I can't say that I prepared a lot to talk about today But of course I do have the tabloids So I'm pleased to say the subscriptions are running out I was waiting for that to happen because they mail them late And so I'd rather get the up to the minute slime from the checkout line when it is in the checkout line rather than rather than three weeks earlier But what I've learned over the last year of late tabloids is that there's an awful lot of people I've never heard of To say say the least And if it weren't for the royal family I think all of these tabloids would be bereft of topics but of course we have we're talking I think yesterday about Harry's secret trips without Megan and then of course Meghan and the porn star So.

"That's interesting because in some respects it sounds like gut feel like when you see the amo- and you need to approve it and it doesn't doesn't like your spider sense goes off. Yes there's no dad involved because you you haven't released it in the wild yet but it's more like a feel and i guess what you're saying is that if you have a solid foundation in place those decisions go or no go are lot clearer. Because there's a. There's a clear path forward in terms of how you should do marketing. Absolutely you just did that. Wonderful webinar workshop on brand messaging right. If that is not in line the content team has no litmus test to understand. Is this going to resonate with the target audience. Am i hitting the key pain points. They're not doing that sir. They're writing off their gut. Feel so by the time it gets to the cmo. You're right something is off but you don't have that document to check it against so then you just never approve it because you're busy doing other things right like rydell rewrite it but having those guidelines that foundation so it super clear it makes it really easy to approve things. Here's a loaded question if you're the cmo and you recognize that compounding defects is a problem and you don't want to be there because that's a waste of people time and money. Where do you start. It is a loaded question. But what are the first steps that a cmo should take and their marketing organization for that matter in terms of making sure that the foundations right so you can avoid compounding defects. You know it's so funny. This is always the hardest thing to do. It's talking to the founder and the ceo it starts with that vision for where the company is going. Everything else falls from that. And i know you work with lotta probably be to be startups. The sas world sometimes the founders and. ceo's aren't sure but let me give you an example that i've experienced a lot in the past year it's in terms.

"I mean obviously you know kinda committed my life to that you hope that education has some lasting effects and can help continue to do those adjustments that we have to keep keep finding the battle. Thirty by thirty on a federal level has turned out thus far to be not exactly the way we would introduce that you know language and talk about what is really protection and everything else but those of us who've been around for awhile totally expected that like up. We know certain setbacks are coming before they're ever announced and getting kids involved early on you know i i. This came as a shock me in my twenties. When i started working greenpeace these kinds of things. What i mean i can work on this for five years and then somebody can come and just take a dump on it and just thirty rydell. A little piece of code or signature could wipe out all this work and they go. Yeah but if kids start to understand that though not only be not surprised when that happens too badly they'll still be disappointed they could also at the same time. Be taken steps to make sure that that doesn't happen as often in the future right because some some people become politicians and say exactly way that i'm going to make my contribution i'm going to change the laws. I'm going to you know. And those are the kids your inspiring now. We need them badly. Exactly we need the future. Politicians engineers You know writers need We need him on as we were talking about earlier. That's what's so powerful about this topic. And i love your point. About what else would we do because we have to pay respect to the planet and the biosphere but it's also that celebration you've got a you've got to celebrate it. We can't be attending. Never ending requiem mass. So it's at least for me. I get angry sometimes. But one of the advantages of doing this education work is that you knew see student or even a teacher for that matter getting starting to see a new angle on something is just really rewarding in it it. It feels your optimism. I really admire folks. Who are in the trenches doing conservation work know. I'm really an educator And i sometimes felt funny like well. My call to action is always basically learn something.

"Telling you based on your experience and things like that because they know and i think we lost a potential member just because he in reality joined the wrong ride i i. I was fortunate that when i first started doing group rides. It was the the trek sunday morning rides and that that group is extremely friendly. It's a no drop ride we regroup anywhere from two to four times in the twenty five miles if the groups big enough when we get to a certain point the people wanna do along faster pace rydell split off and maybe do thirty five or forty but you know i that got me hooked on writing and if i if i didn't join that group for the first time i don't know that i'd still be riding to be honest with you so to me. You know having that like minded writers but also having a group of people that make it social and not just writing by yourself. It's a it. It would keep a lot of people involved in the sport more. I would agree. Yeah that's one thing. So whenever i really got back into it i draw described as a lone wolf. I didn't really ride with other people. I just kinda did my thing. And that's probably one of the reasons why still hammer but like the the group ride dynamic has actually taught a lot that is intangible in many ways whether it's etiquette or you know just pacing methods and of learning off other people without actually being officially taught anything but that's that's where the social element comes in. I think that's really important but one of the other more important things like you said you know group rides. Obviously there's new roads and routes like we talked about in the intro. Where you know. The the knowledge of the collective so to speak and one ride leaders are expected to keep a ride on like really suitable roads which means that they know the area really well a so. A club run is a great way to kind of build your internal routes that you wanna have like for instance out by me. I have about ten different routes that are structured in different ways and it would have been a lot easier. Had i talked to a few people have been a part of that. That local group out. Here i would have learned that you know. One of them is heavily service by world trucks. And you probably should not go on it unless you want to die. Yeah and that's that's the big thing with with learning new routes is. It's not necessarily how good or bad the road quality is but it's also the combination of what kind of traffic's on there and there's even some there's even some back country roads that are pretty quiet that.

And he comes up and we're like you know. Welcome to the club. You know happy to have you. Not and he's like he's like he's like you're right with these guys a lot and i said yeah he said well you're a bigger guy like if you can keep up with them. I and probably keep up with them. And i'm like if you're sizing up the riders already. You may be the wrong ride. And i i know. Our ride leader actually encouraged him to join the wednesday ride. Which is you've done that one with us. Yeah and that one's the pace isn't necessarily slow but it's just an easier ride to keep together on because there's really only one big climb in. That's that's more of a welcoming ride to to something used to group rides or road rides. He got dropped like two miles in and just turn around. And i felt bad. You know because that's a terrible. I experience to have with the club. But at the same time i you know listen to what the club leaders telling you based on your experience and things like that because they know and i think we lost a potential member just because he in reality joined the wrong ride i i. "And i pray that it will seep out into the world because i one of the things that i believe wholeheartedly is that the enemy knows how powerful women are when they stand together when they align themselves for a greater purpose and so i believe like literally for hundreds of years. He's told women that we are in competition with each other and created this environment where women is actually very hard to connect with women and to have a true benthic transparent relationships and partner up and stuff like that because of that lie that we have like submitted to him. Believe for so many years so I agree with you. I literally like within our community. You know there are some communities that are like well. We only have one person that represents x. y. and z. And i just believe in you to our case in point. I just leave that. Every voice is unique Literally the same profession. Same industry same company to people. You could still have such unique things to say an impact people in different ways that every voice has just like unparalleled importance and value. And so we're all about that here. I've loved that you guys are doing night. You're literally like the perfect. Little textbook. Of what i i believe is possible in the in the world for women and so i want to applaud you guys for that in really really big way love that we are just so big on. I mean i guess our audience moms for the side of our business and we are so big on that. Because i feel like you said women are told. You can't do this or you have to make this choice or you can't do it. This way or impostor syndrome is huge and is so true where. I don't know why. I don't know if like you said like why has that been a theme for so many years women feel like you feel like you're just trucking rydell and you're doing great in life and then you see this lady over here and you're like oh i should do it like that and it just stops you how. I'm kin speak from experience. That's happened to me. And it's like why though why you know and i love that i love your mission to for what how. You're hoping women just be themselves because it's so important. I believe now is our time like as women. I believe that god's calling up into Every area of the world regardless of what their profession is regardless of how big they're like list audience as i believe it signed for women to rise up and really lead and lead from that that heart that you to have to serve and really to share your experience and to empower other women to realize how valuable they are how they have unique skills and Gifts to offer the world. And so what you're doing is like so important. I i love what you're doing. Thank you yeah and i think that you know the thing is is that it's easy to get bogged down by what other people are doing in a weird way whether you admire somebody or whether you are envious of somebody that's just a big mirror right so it's like they either have what i want or are they doing something totally or or you know or if you sees see another mom or another business owner and you're like oh i would never do that. That's that's all a reflection of you right like whatever your perceptions of what's going on around you that's something that you gotta work through. I'm speaking from personal experience that you have to work through to say like. Why am i feeling this lately. Where is that coming from. Like what is that. I wish that i had like. What are my goals going forward. It's i love what you're saying because it needs to be less about that just like oh i want what she has are..

"These actually just tack dangling donuts on to one of the most lyrical deaths in the English language so what are you doing there most of the actors who perform hamlet paying no attention to the phone they don't do the as they do their best to silence they die and it's done down to the left there but we met a guy who does do the grown up already I'm on another call which hi his name is mark Rydell we got from my my best lunette him backstage at the Longacre theater in New York City he was starring in a in a non Shakespeare about the show but he took us up to our cool dressing room it was there that he began to talk about the grounds was added by very careful editors to the folio in sixteen twenty three mark said he didn't think that Shakespeare actually wrote those those things probably an actor so so so when you when you direct just set down you looking at these for those on the page why didn't you think to yourself shut up because I guess I guess I've done it three hundred time setting up so is entered into the change into the difference particularly when he began to just consider the character of hamlet himself of all the characters who die in plays I think when most entry about what would happen that will make of it because right now it says remember not only is hamlet in unusually obsessed by death he went to a school where champions reason over mystery is a student of Wittenberg university he's part of the whole Protestant movement to the accurate study of nature he is moving away from superstition and.

"I think it's disgusting, and they're conservative and to me some people on the left that are supposedly under the guise of compassion will never accept anyone's apology for something stupid that they said when they were young or something that didn't come out the right way. I think across the board. There's got to be a recognition of people's humanity. You know, once somebody has to go I and I think we're having hardest time with you. It's very very difficult to ride. The center line 'cause everyone's always getting pissed for a while. I was losing friends because I wasn't left enough. My show wasn't left enough. And it's like, you know, what I I come in. No matter whoever comes in here with personality, they tell me to left I'm to right and bride. Angela. Angela. There's always to something right? I now adapted fuck off. Right. I am trying to just say what I'm looking at now. And that's in. Donation that you'll have what I make those comments about friends and stuff like that. It's you have a few really true friends. It really know you. Yes. And they know you, and they know your heart and don't think, you know, everyone's heart don't think, you know, these celebrities hearts and because you'll be in a bad position. And you'll be after defend things that are defensible of to do this. You have to do that. You don't know anybody's heart. You know? So when you deify people, and you make God's out of them that to me is a huge problem. And that's when I go back. I'm like, okay, we're taking Lucy Kate down. We never should have put him up there. You don't want to be on that Pablo is a comedian. He's a clown. He should not have been a, but we all are your counting his mind. Why like I like Alexsandr Cossio Cortez? How many weeks or months or we away from finding something she's done? That is not what people love do. You think there's a bad dance out there? I doubt it. I don't know if it's a bad dance. But it's maybe something she said something she wrote. I'm and the the Rydell dig it up the left will dig it up some little dig it up because we're making a God out of her. I'm seeing this happen. And I think she's smart. It's what we did with burning. Yeah. She's a smart capable really. Amazingly astute, and I know people kinda shit on her for not being right about every little thing. But she won an election. She did something that very few. I mean, how old are you twenty eight? He's on like, I was playing bowling alleys thrilled to be doing it. I don't agree with her and everything, but I think that like the deification of hers only going to lead to disappointment the people that deify her the idiots deified Trump. What's interesting to me ask with with Louis getting so much praised in this loving him? He could have this out so easily if he was just normal. Yeah. You know, when people ask me how how long have to give Lloyd. Who cares? I don't give a shit. But okay. If you want an answer, it's when he says something that makes sense. Your you agree that you not only didn't just ask people. Can I take my dick as if somehow gets okay, you did it without being asked? You did close a bathroom door on a woman at least once. Then you put out a black and white movie about a pervert taking dick in a movie, you know, obviously alluding to Woody Allen in acting like you don't see any comparison..
