"It's rainy. And they're postponing, you know, holding, holding, holding holding finally said, alright, We're not going to get the game in here was the problem. Because they wanted to sell the game as a completely separate game. In other words, after the first game, everyone out of here, No, we're going to restart now a new crowd to come in. Have they just play the games back to back? They would have got that game in so they don't have a planned trip to Atlanta. So it's a suspended game, meaning they'll pick up the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and play it through the seventh inning. That game will probably be in September, right at the end of the season sandwich between the Padres playing the Giants and the Dodgers. To complete this game like Atlanta would come in. Oh, and Atlanta would be the home team. Even though the games in San Diego why couldn't they have just started the game earlier? We wouldn't have this nightmare. So with the win yesterday, the Padres Dodgers lost to the Giants again, so they their game closer now of the Dodgers regains back there now six games ahead of the Reds for the final playoff spot. So from that standpoint, good news. Also, they start now a four game series against the Marlins. Ryan Weathers, The young left hander is expected comeback from injury. He will pitch on Saturday. "I feel like like a lit up about degrom and it's it was just something hundred hundred ninety four. I what he's supposed to do nothing. And that's what people do with it. Nothing exactly you're not supposed to do anything with it. You can't do anything with it. You just watch tip your cap drag that back to the rack. Dudes blown one. Zero two as a starter. It's insane averaging when when when you're in the lab and you're getting the feedback and you're looking at the numbers and you know and then you process in your head. This dude is averaging. Chun does averaging does a- playing catch effortless. It really is. It's it's just stupid. He's gonna one to fucking wherever you want ninety with the fuck. It guides on ninety four mile hour. Change you want to know what that did to me. Right out you wanna and that did to me. I went into the corner and soaked and cry as i was living. Allied trying to pitch in major league baseball. What she chickened tecom ninety four mile an hour changeup. He basically just pissed all over anything that i had Fuck it incredible but all right we know you got you got to get to the yard. We asked each and every guest this last question if you could jump in a hot tub time machine like a regular title at. It's just like the most normal that you've ever been like this. Sounds like standard functions. You can go back in time hot tub to like any any point in time that you probably better time machine and you're in that time machine you can go back into any moment in baseball history and bear witness to what just happened. What moment and why. I think you'll be deathly when babe ruth called. He killed his wife. Did you know ryan babe ruth. Herman killed his wife. He did so has the story from the didn't have an ashtray journey to get over that. Yeah babe there's actually lost on me got married when he a teenager and then what happened was he asked for a divorce and she said i'll divorce you if you give me one hundred thousand dollars and he got angry and stormed out of the room and then like a month later. Her house burned down. So i'm just saying. I don't know i i wouldn't wanna go back in time to witness. A an alleged away from that ryan is that she couldn't handle heartbreak and she was soaking inch. We have passed that favors and yes. He's been dieting homicide maniac. George herbert route further win. Less steve ryan weathers of the san diego padres slammed diego padres less. Thanks for the time brother. Big thank you to ryan. Weather's for making the time to come on. The podcast is his debut is twenty one years old. I was trying to think back like like these guys have a level of maturity at twenty one that i don't think i ever got like search brain. I was like what year. What year did you get it. No no no didn't do cloudy grew up. He grew up around a big leaguer You're learning lessons at an age. Where other kids just are not even being introduced to certain things. You're already learning and really working on mastering thought processes and things that help you compete. So that's why when you talk to guys that have come from a place where they've got. Somebody like like rhinos dad in the in the building in the background. That's why you see these guys. That are like jack lighter like having a conversation with that guy in understanding. He's he's light years ahead of kids. H light st. Would you depending on where he ends up. Would you make the trip out to see Jack lighters i professional start in the red sox organization. If jack lighter is drafted by the boston red sox I will come with you jack. Lighters professional debut villier really. I will anywhere anywhere. It could be anywhere wherever it is. We're doing it. you can't take that back. i'm not taking it back. I will urge you start him. Where am i starting jack lighter. Yeah i've i'm fucking starting him in double a well. I one here. Here's the thing though. And it's the reason. I had double a. on my brain was because i understand what w represents an talking about the aptitude. Do i think he would be mentally prepared for what it would have to offer. Yes but that is all based on his father having an impact on his mindset and preparing him for that. But you just don't know how individuals are going to react when failure presents itself and at aa. We're talking about you. Go on a good four or five game. Run as a touted prospect and aa that phone. Call that you get next could very well have you skipping aaa And that with frequency because two ways of prospect league now with the manipulation of major league baseball of the minor leagues have how they're set up. I don't know if just throwing him right into the fire right away is what you wanna do if you've got plans and aspirations to bring this guy along regardless of what the numbers in the production at the levels. Say if you've got it in your brain that jack lighter is going to be impacting your bigly club in the next two years will then where he starts might not be that big of a deal..

"Taken in the first round and you're added to that story. I mean the padres at the time and still do have one of the top farm system in major league baseball. Did you think that your major league debut would come as quickly as i did like did you like was there a conversation. Like hey like there is for you to make it to the big leagues and x. Amount of time if you accomplish x y z. Or were you mentally prepared for you know however long it was going to take to to be living ryan buses. I did not in any way shape. Or if you're told me in twenty ninety four when indiana that'd be making my debut in the division series the next year out probably in the face but You know it happen. I never once put a timetable. I mean baseball baseball. It doesn't matter how you are no matter where your vision your vision and Obviously where. I was pitching well enough to be in consideration for making that playoff team and No never in a million years. That i saw after a year and a half that i would even be sniffen. The big leagues. So you're one of six guys to ever make their debut in the postseason. One of two pitchers a former teammate of mine. Mark tiger was an infielder who made his debut in the division series for the oakland a.'s and talking to him talking to pipes about what those emotions released. Dude i never thought i was sniffing the big leagues right. I hadn't sniffed the big leagues. And now here i am like my biggest day on the biggest stage and that was a little different for you because there ain't nobody screaming your name when you're running out that gate there ain't nobody in the stands. I mean there was a i guess a few people towards the in there but what was different about that experience now and then opening day this year. Going into the series. It was like alice counted blur day for me. So i mean we know. We're going to the dodgers. So i i mean at that point now. That's like our biggest rival. So all i can go through my head was i knew. Pigeon like dude. Didn't mess up. You've not been here guys gotta here to not mess up going out there when that gate opened it just. I don't even remember what happened. I got jelly leg and out flow into the mail and then Yeah it was insane but then opening day the fans here. I mean even at minimum patch. It was loud and a lot of fun and then pitched opener against the dodgers for the year at that place where i can feel my inside rattling. It was so loud and it was an awesome experience and it was a lot of fun. Obviously it's a little bit looser now than it was in the postseason last october. But i mean. I'm assuming that you know guys in the clubhouse everything is spread out. It's not your normal clubhouse environment. Were you even able to when you you know. You're making your big league. Debut in the division series were even able to have conversations with some of the big guys were. It's like hey i'm going to take you on my way. I'm gonna show you the ropes series like. Are you just kind of like a lone wolf like i dunno. I dunno where i'm going. I don't know what's going on. Like what was that experience like. Like i getting there so my locker. We were at the rangers. New ballpark and my locker was an auxiliary locker. I literally think like had to walk a mile to get. I was the batting cages. Like all the way now. So i honestly at that point it was just more like whenever got the bullpen consulting to those guys. Kinda get locked in on me. It was our the hundred. I postseason in forever. So they're trying to win an odd step on any toes and asking me questions at less needed to and So but now al the locker room. It's it's a fun name to bail. It's fine locker room with a bunch of good group of guys and You know we're all trying to win games and have fun and you know so far. It's working out just forced. Blake snell to become your friend low. That's that's that's the route that that's the route that i would go if i were you. Blake guess what we're fucking friends now. Felton left handed. I left hand. We got some nasty shit. I'd like to learn about your nasty shit. What are you saying like. how how. How has that gone. Because i know that that can be that can be a tough approach to make. It ties book. You're already got the foot in the door. You're lefty your rotation mate. Like i dunno. If you're a gamer. But there's a lot of different avenues. We could go down here. let's see how. How did you sort of engage or have you engaged in that in that back and forth yet like hey man to talk a little bit about this So on the side of the locker schnell moved his locker over to the corner well hotter and wilmar everyday anew anoma rookie and i roll. I'm just kind of showed a still your word like decision locker and then you can talk the talk to me like they like. Tell me what this needs. These be quiet. And unlike i said were like i'm just sitting in morocco auchan. So that kind of force me to have to talk a little bit and talk all the guys and then Then i just kind of started talking asthma by slider like throwing it more on the boy and he just told me. I i just throw it and you know i would probably like that probably and So now we just kind of talk all the time at the sale and amazon every game and You know his great gotta be around he's definitely shown me a lot about just kinda buckling down and getting else The other the other day when he was in the seventh and had a runner on third nobody out in just pushed off the side. They just dominant up and just getting to watch that day in day out. And every time he pitches watching darvish pitch watch and muslim pitch will met pat it. I mean it's just a treat every time you get to go to the game just getting to watch his pitch. So i mean you're in the big leagues right now. But it wasn't that long ago the you're are still pitching in high school And and when you're pitching in highschool virtually unchallenged like the. No one had a shot at all. How do you think you've evolved. Since like i can just go out there and fill up the strike zone and it's not gonna matter to now i have to get out big league hitters like. How are you different as a pitcher now compared to you. You're dominating in high school. I mean obviously i think now just kind of more of the being able to truly read swings and moving feeding the by where their hands are stuff like that. It's a little stuff like that. Well it's still the same concept mean. They're big league hitters. They shot squared up. I mean alzheimer's or three for ten and at three hundred concept spoke zone and you have great defense behind me you know. Just keep ball in the ballpark. It's probably going to get caught somewhere and you don't have to. You're not going to strike out the world These guys are gonna put spa and boy. They have big league at bats. Obviously for a reason and This fill up his own. And that's what. I'm struggling with right now. My big strong suit up zone. I'm trying to get back still it up and let them put employees except lot long along swinging earliest. I can get deeper into the game and you know just same concept research can get out. Do you feel. Do you feel like you're feeling an adjustment to you already from the league. Yeah absolutely i'll a thing the kind of crazy how quickly that should be. I think at one point. I was using my fastball. Probably seventy five percent eighty percent and they were. i think it was against seattle. Was the first time they swinging swinging a and then we pay cubs and they were the same way. And then there's no last outing. I know it was three runs. Whatever actor wes The stuff was bear. I started flipping off speed. Better throw more changes better. And i think as long as i can continue to mix that and change. Speeds are fun..

"Deserve a good piece of That actually really good fucking stakes. Topnotch phenomenal everyday with ryan. Weather's the last. I'd say that was a top notch. Interview is high quality. I frankly i get tired of interviewing these guys that just had predicted high school careers. Ridiculous high school denver's. It just reminds me of how good i was not in high school. Even though i thought it was sweet just can not relate taken every box. All right ryan. Weather's all right we're here with ryan weather's debated last year padres. You're twenty one. You want to know the type of shit. I was doing when i was twenty one. It wasn't pitching in the big leagues. When so i mean. I don't even know where the order of his bedroom. Yeah i was still living with my parents and saw twenty six. You got like five years ago. There's a couple of different directions. That i could go to start because i know which experience i want to hear about more both fascinating to me but i guess i'll start with with high school because i was looking at your high school numbers and i thought it was a misprint. Like so i. Actually you know your high school numbers. I'm sure dallas's research them as well but for anyone listening this as a junior in two thousand seventeen you had a point one four yara and you struck out a hundred and eleven batters in forty nine innings. And if that wasn't enough you worst seventy five with five home runs and knocked in twenty nine runs and then as a senior. The following year eleven. Oh with zero point zero nine era and a hundred and forty eight strikeouts in seventy six innings. So you're that was. That is the minute that i looked at my mom went. I need to step away from this because numbers cannot close to accurate. No and we referenced. This all pretty frequently. So we interviewed rick in kiel. And this dude through. What was it nine nine nine no hitters in one year in high school and then we ask them like. Hey like what was your. What was your best start. What was your favorite start and it was. It was a game that he threw a one hitter and the one hit was like a little dinky scribbled out in front of home plate and then he hit a walk off home. Run wasn't even one of the no hitters so when you're doing stuff like this in high school like at what point do you think like. Hey baseball's easy this like it can't you did you in your mind. Think like at any level. I'm gonna continue to be this dominant or is it just like. Hey maybe people around here. Aren't that good or like i'm i am this. What is your thought process. That must like mess with your psyche to a degree. It was just like you know going into every game this concept just throw strikes get out I know you usually my pitch count would be probably around seventy five out finished seventies. Seventy five eighty pitches so Always been throw strikes and just get out and you know just both those years sterling strikes and getting and the numbers happened. How much how much of your how much of your dad like. Because obviously you've got pedigree right that's been quite a bit of time in the big leagues. So you you've got a feel for this. But like jared said you're dominating and you're watching things unfold and you're kind of assessing things like you know what this is. I mean from seventy five eighty pitches. I know what that means through. Seven innings. Jared has an idea of what that's pure fucking domination. There's just no other way to look at that especially with the punchout numbers so with the pedigree of your dad like. What was the message that he was trying to send to you as he's watching. Because it's these basically putting stallion against colts and he's just watching you run laps around these fucking kids. So how is he. How is he keeping. You focused on what your job was honest. Same concept is always. I think since he was. When i was going to the fill town when i was probably nine eight years old we always worked on fastball command and throwing changeups so Up until now you know. Change up still like a work in progress. Although his fastball changeup and then you know slaughtered income. Come along until twenty nineteen. So it's my third full year gonna throw it and learn it but the concept was always the same. Locate your fastball. And i think now it's helped me pitch now where i know how to locate my fast fall down in a way up and just moved the ball around. How many no hitters did you throw in high school. There had been like twenty honestly. I have no clue. what do you mean you. How many how many did you throw. Don't don't tell me. I i'm trying. I think every single one of those games like i would give up like one of those squeal little hits over a first baseman or third baseman. So honestly i. If i cannot tell you like what i did well what was what was what was your most. Because as as jerry told you rick you'll nine no knows what was the moment or what was one of the games where you were able to step back and realize you. This really is unfair. And i'm having so much fun shitting all over these kids dreams. I think.

"Are you asking me to believe right now that you're stopping on your way from one room to another because melvin fucking maura is at the dishes moro as i mean stopping if you're talking like this then you're obviously someone that didn't watch a whole lot of melon more. I did i had plenty of. Melvin mora melvin. Mora led the league in on base percentage in two thousand and four. Okay that's one. He was an all star in two thousand five years all star in two thousand and three three seventeen three forty three forty and fug in two thousand four and he was. He was can't miss for you. Wasn't he had nine eighty one. Ps forget how. Good melvin mora. Was you know good velvet for was until i forgot how good yeah. I didn't think he had three forty. God damn how do you hit three forty in two thousand and four when the goddamn batting title who had higher than three forty that year. What your four. Yeah the fuck. I don't know who The batting champion house each euro he hit. Oh what the fuck. Oh yeah remember. That he hit three seventy two so the connection of baltimore was that the year that he broke george sizzlers record. Yeah right each. Each row broke sicily's record for the most hits in a single season. He had two hundred sixty two hits that year and he had three seventy two. I was in baltimore for the red sox. Last series of the season for the seat of the regular season ended. They were in baltimore and they like stopped. They didn't stop the game but it was inbetween innings and they put each arose at bat. The big board to show him breaking sizzlers record. So i saw each row break sizzlers record on the big board in baltimore in two thousand and four anyone in the batting title that year. Well how about that. Yeah how about that could talks what else we got here. I got one more talk to me. We mentioned him earlier. Max tassie stress. Yes he is. He's gone off this month. he's also slugging nine. Oh nine this month sin. Four twenty four on base is at four seventy two. We slugging nine thirteen eighty one opie s. He's driven ten runs in his last game. Ten games in which the angels are eight in two. he's hit four homers got four doubles. Gotta get those walks up. It's only walked a couple of times. Backstop he's not going to necessarily put the persona he's trying to. He's trying to get up and get he's trying to get the ball to spelt. Do some damage max desi. It's so i can't. I can't wait to see him today. I tell him. Tell him that. I showed him some love on this. Podcast i will. I will let him know that. I will let him know that. I've told this story before about maxed asi being put in the doghouse have no. I don't think so. I think i've told the story if you're listening to this right now. I implore you to on the as angels game this evening or at least at some point in time during this series because max tassie was a young ballplayer and in bigly camp with us and him being from northern california myself being from northern california Neighboring cities reclose cities. Anyway we understand the the area code back and forth the respect that occurs i being from the two of nine mac stasi being from the five three zero known as the dirty five thirty one day before before stretch stanzi is kind of run in his mouth. Talk shit not not in a bad way. When i say runnin his mouth we're just banter and having a good time and He he says something about the two. Oh nine like oh not for the two. Oh nine i should hold or whatever. Oh oh staz buddy. I don't think you understand what you've just done to yourself so what stats came across the very next day. When he came into the ballpark. Jared and you got remember. Young catchers catchers early on in spring training. They're getting to the yard super early. Da their bodies ready. Look at video. Go catch early. Work bullpens shit like that. So stasio shows up very early. I was already there. Because i had had our maintenance crew take a full sheet of plywood and screw it and drill it to his locker blocking his impala him. Yes this is him okay. I remember this story. I did not remember that it was him. Okay it's desi it's stasi and so the whole sheet apply plywood is covering his and locker and i have them cut out a small door and on it. I wrote two oh nine doghouse and mac stasi had to write. I will not disrespect the to nine fifty one times on a piece of paper before he went out to stretch and the entire day. If max sassy was going into his locker to get anything whatsoever to get on his hands and knees and crawl into his locker through the doggy door but you couldn't get into the locker because it's only a couple of feet deeper whatever so he's basically on his hands in these asked hanging out of the doggy door searching for his clothes and his cleats and his equipment and his catcher's gear and all that shit the entire national the entire day. I remember you telling me that story i. It was completely lost on me that that was max tassie that you did that too. Yeah and and it's because i absolutely love maxi and he. He caught my bullpen that year in spring training. Job and i immediately went to bob. Melvin and said this is the dude that will be catching me in spring training..

"It's going to be good series getting shohei in the series or no the bus again not getting shohei There's a solid champions that missing the bus anyway But we're not getting to see him on the mound. That's okay. I believe we've got Dylan bundy andrew. Heaney and the canning is who the as will be seen Look mass asi big part of why the angels are hot right now. He's swinging about very well during this stretch. we're gonna get. I had a little exchange back and forth with mark. Group is up who is the color analyst phenomenal color analyst For the angels. And he talked about. Jared walsh coming into town. Squaring off against matt olsen two guys who play a very important defensive position in this day and age and have produced at a wonderful clip. Jared walsh just a tick really behind mendelssohn across the board in production slight advantage in batting average i think while she's in to ninety one but After that he you know just behind only in a lot of the other offensive categories and being able to watch him along with Along with the rest of this halo squad is going to be exciting just to see kind of why they're playing or why they're winning the games that they're winning and like i told you i think a lot of it has to do with the way. Justin upton has been hitting the ball to the last two weeks. Justin upton is hitting three sixty one with a thirteen thirty six opie that is the fifth highest. Opiates and major league baseball over that span just in the month of june just in the month of june. It's pretty good. I mean fuck and you just look up and down here. And it's like staticy thirteen eighty one. He's fourth The majors in this month upton in his fifth and then you go down to tenth shohei ohtani eleven seventy eight. The angels have been hitting the ball. It's a matter of whether or not they're going to be able to pitch at the same time corrobos. Yeah they don't. They haven't figured that out yet they will. Eventually i feel like we will get to a point where the angels realize. You do need pitching in order to succeed at the major league level and when they get their look the fuck out i just wish i really do for angels fans. I wish that. Like and. I'm sorry if i if i say this in this offense you and it hurts our feelings but you didn't need anthony window. No you didn't know you didn't. I think that was panicked. Pivot after losing out on garrett cole and we talk about micky calloway's presence being a potential deterrent for the angels and a trevor bauer union. That really sucks to considering how that played out and it just like fuck man. It feels like the angels fucked that up. I'm sorry like it. We can continue to talk about how they haven't had the success in the pitching front but it kind of feels like you haven't had success in landing pitching on the pitching front to help the pitching front which is a little strange like it shouldn't be that hard to lur a pitcher to california and really and like how. Come on especially with what you've got now. As far as the supporting offense of cast look like. Hey we have mike trout shohei otani and california weather sound good. Oh and all the money that you were asking for. Even though they didn't have all the money that garrett cole is asking for what was their excuse for that. I mean if that's the guy that kind of puts you over the top. And i could understand like i said before about the toronto blue jays. I one of the toronto blue jays to be on on garrett cole and it's like well at that point we don't exactly know what we have now. We do like the blue jays have one of the best if not the best offenses in baseball. So it's like you know if garrett kohl's free agency came around now instead of back then. I feel like they should have been way more aggressive but with the angels. They're kind of in. That position was like yeah. We definitely know what we have offensively like. We're not waiting for anyone to see if they can bloom into a superstar player that we know what we got. So that supplement that bullet let let me. Let me stop you there. Because a guy. Like jared walsh coming on to the scene in in the way he has this year. I don't know if that's something that they fully accounted for. Because walsh is a luxury what's that he was he's a he's a luxury he's like. Hey look we found talking about talk. Shohei otani and mike. Trout are responsible for over fucking eighty five percent of their offensive production until upton started swinging. Well and isn't it crazy that we talk about the angels offense and we don't even really mention rundown people just forget he's on the team ugali. What three hundred million dollars right. What did he get like to eighty something. No to forty five to forty. That's fucking crazy like when we talked about the angels. Hey come on out to see the angels. They've got x. they've got y they've got z. No one anthony run down crazy for threes and forty five million dollars. Let's just say like all right. Let me ask you. We'll do this exercise. "Happy for him. I think it would've been. Because i think that there was a chance that we were staring that situation in the face where he just didn't sign somewhere like that wasn't totally farfetched and i think we kind of as we get further away from it. Forget like our reactions to the dodgers being the team. That's i now rules. I thought for sure it was going to be a team that was like you know what we're not really that good but we could use the extra tickets purchases. So let's bring in albert. I mean he got signed by a team that has a fucking the best chance to win the world series this year you automatically took fifteen teams in and took him out of your brain right. Because you're thinking yeah. I think he's going to the nfl no chance there's not a single team signing this guy that has to put him out there in the field defensively and what happened and to your point that you just made. It's the team that was favored to win the world series again. Yeah again and that's who went and got a dude that was just scrap heaped by another squad. That's what's crazy is we're talking about a guy who really didn't have a landing spot after the team. He was on let him go and not only did he find a landing spot. It was where it was and that's why it was insane when it happened is because the dodgers have been so forward thinking and have been on the record as saying like will move guys around will plug and play. We're not into having to go and make that big huge splashy free agent decision if we don't have to. I mean we can. trevor bauer. You wanna come in a world series that sound but now we've got guys that were comfortable like moving around guys like austin barnes guys taylor so it was just kind of awkward that you're going to get albert. Yeah happy for him though. Happy happy for his friends. Lot of his friends were pretty pretty upset about that. We do have the the mount rushmore segment from last week. The fish that was big time the more fun ones that we've done so far the marlins. Yeah it's just there's a lot of there's a lot of options lots of different ways. A lot of different ways treated with those. Yeah that well. that's again. That's what's fun about these exercise about the mount. Rushmore segment. is you can go so many different ways coming from. So many different places valuing different things I love it..

"The wall. Molina rounding second on his way to third, he will put the brakes on there on a booming double by O'Neill. And the Cardinals have come out swinging the bats early here tonight. Reportedly, the wind is blowing out too, right? What may have helped that get to the wall. With Tyler O'Neill's We've talked about. He's so strong. It's like he could throw the ball out any part of the ballpark, so I'm surprised that that actually stayed in Unfortunately for the Padres, you had a slow runner and Molina first base so he doesn't score from first. So perhaps Weathers can get out of this without giving up any more runs already two to nothing. ST Louis runners at 2nd and 3rd, with two down for the center fielder Harrison baiter. Two for four with a home run last night, hitting 2 80 on the season, right handed batter. Two in scoring position is Weathers glances back to second on now, a fastball swung on and missed one and one the count on baiter. Later hits lefties pretty well. Gonna be real critical for weather. I hate to say this, but she's 28 years old today, which makes me 1000 and five the fall out from the covert 19 pandemic has been disastrous for women. Millions of women worldwide have been disproportionately affected by job losses on globally, women lost at least $800 billion in income last year. That's according to a new report from Oxfam International. That's more than the combined GDP of 98 countries, also the $700 billion market cap of Amazon, and it's also topped the 721 billion that the U. S spent in the our defense budget last years. That's a lot of money worldwide on a global scale Women account for more than 64 million jobs lost last year. That's 5% of all jobs held by women compared to about 2% loss for men so It was disproportionately tougher on women during covert then and men. Ah, couple of pieces of breaking news on the good side this morning. Causing the markets to jump up is that we had initial jobless claims fall to a pandemic era low of 553,000. Also, the GDP report shows that the U. S economy grew 6.4% the first quarter. That's our report card of the economy. And if anything above You know, 2.823 is great. We're it's 6.4 and the economists are saying is gonna grow even faster. So great day on Wall Street. "And yet, I think overall, it's done really good work. Um, you know, you have to credit the bullpen for the fact that they've been in more safe situations, more leverage situations than any team in baseball. You know, until this rocky seriously, giants didn't have a win of more than four runs. Marginal season. So you know that tells you your bullpen is on the whole doing a pretty good job, But But, yeah, you're going to go through periods. Where were you? You're looking for the right combinations and hardly Garcia's on the injured list. Now we know Tyler Rogers can't pitch every day even though it seems like you can So you know, it would be so cool. Funny gave him a great break. It t let everybody keep their Their jackets buttoned up and in the bullpen still, But that was just a game yesterday. That had a lot of mistakes. And I mean he never spreading Crawford overthrow Brandon Belt by five. FT. You know s Oh, I think you just chalk it up to you not one of the best games and you hope that Things line up a little bit better next time and you want to take serious that That's the big thing, especially against teams. You should be so I think this one today will be a big one. Yeah, and it's Camilla DeVol, a guy we should keep an eye on them for outings. They used to go to the one solo shot. Maybe he you know if Maggie tires a little bit or Santos gets figured out a little bit is dove all the next guy to kind of move up the ladder. And he definitely has shown that he can pitch and leverage spots. He's got the stuff. You know, Santos is stuff might be a little bit better, but I think they've all might have a little bit of command at this point. And so maybe he is a guy that you could look toe put a little more trust in. But I mean, both of these guys, Santos and end of all they were pitching in a ball when when you know they were lasted playing games that had box scores in 2019. And it's not just it's not just these two guys at the Giants are leaning on you Look around the league and you got a guy like Ryan Weathers. He didn't pitch up of April, and now he's doing a great job for the Padres. Um, you know, filling in first in the bullpen and now now in the rotation with the Nelson without having set back, so I think you're going to see this around baseball. You can see a lot of guys who come up that you don't have a lot of scouting report on That maybe you would not think would be in the big leagues jumping from Abel all the way up to the show. But you know, there's there's a lot of ways that the teams trying to polish up and develop these players in different ways last year, and I think it's gonna be really interesting to see what some of the success stories and maybe what some of the step backs are going to be his teams. No, they I'm thinking a lot of cases are not really going to know what they have until they see it. Why would you say in closing and we do the weekly chest? The Giants have kind of done what they needed to do with the first sort of 15% of the season. Like they like given a little belief to the clubhouse little belief to the fan base. They certainly have kept pace with the Dodgers. They're tied doesn't feel like you know another month's kind of coming to an end by this weekend. Using us like a smash success of in April, doesn't it? I mean, I haven't updated the numbers, but But going into yesterday's game they were averaging. I think three point Oh, four runs allowed per game, and I mean run scored, runs allowed. That's kind of the you can look at all the numbers you want..

Jesse Winker coming off that two home run game yesterday and the day with the Reds hit six home runs, unfortunately made major league history the first team in the history the game. To innately six home runs in a game. Have a starting pitcher allowed two runs or fewer and lose the game. Nick Castellanos bat second, He's in right field. A U N e O Suarez, hopefully building off of yesterday's home run more of Ah, center field shot yesterday not trying to pull the ball bats third and play short. Joey Votto is in the cleanup spot at first base behind him tonight. Making his first start of the season at third base. Alex Blandino gets to start a third. Nixon's L's in center field. He is batting seventh. Tyler Stevenson does the catching, batting eighth and Sonny Gray on the mound, doing the pitching and batting night. By the way. Well, I'm thinking about it. You cannot possibly say you know what they're going to be we you don't know and you already saw what the bar is going to be with the dodgers and depth of that pitching staff and I completely forgot about this. This one guy until they brought it up in the post game yesterday on MLB Network David, price I forgot he opted out he's back next year and the year after that there that's a team that's pretty deep that was able to part ways with three starters because they felt very good about what they had, what they had ready to go. They did. You know some of those guys you would used in this series if you were the padres probably would've use Ross stripling if you. So you know you would've had one hundred and. Squad. Have had some of those guys. There's no doubt about it. There's a little bit of work to do. There is some work to do and that's that's also one of the great take. Not In a bad way, I will also say this matter skier about cleven Jerusalem Matt. We're going to see the Lakers, beat the heat tonight and nobody cares about Miami's health problems. Nobody cares the Gorn drug hasn't been available nobody cares Bam BIOS not available. He's played the last game. We'll probably play tonight but nobody cares we care they care Miami about that sort of stuff we care here but and it does it matters and it's a factor. There's no doubt about it. You know you you would. You would really have liked your chances a lot more with the healthy clemenger with the healthy lament, which is why it was such a Gut Punch Club in Jakarta, the game in the second inning because you just felt like, wow. Well maybe we can ever get away their way around this. Where are we going realistically without at five game series you would you would have felt better seven different story. Exactly. Right. So I mean that's the thing about injuries as we can talk about it for three hours today and people here will understand. But you know in the grand scheme thing nobody cares as a matter of fact that probably happy that these guys are getting injured the they're certainly not going to lose a lot of sleep about it. In Los, Angeles San Francisco Arizona Colorado. The teams that you're going to have to get through or Atlanta or anybody else who's running for a title and I also think that this team will you know and I think that this is fair. This isn't a criticism of this team. This team navigated the six game season really really well, and I've said this day one. So you can't say I'm just saying that today. There are two things play for me with this. Padre team they were playing the short game, which was we're playing the sixty game season. We're playing this twenty twenty season. We're in it to win it.
