"Well, thank you. Cowan's frequent Joe David from the doom Welsh rider Rita for the final time. This twenty eighteen nineteen season. I think you had to look any further than the faces of your players coach or your own face to know how much that went over Ohio statement to. Yeah. Absolutely. Just so happy for everybody involved. We've worked hard we've competed at night in night out in a really tough league this year. And you know, we've had our downtimes that hard time getting over the hump and put forty minutes together, and we did the other night, and it was just great to come into the locker room to have guy smiling guy celebrating. And that's what you want because throughout the course of a long year. You gotta taste winning. You gotta get some rewards for your work, and we're able to do that. And and I feel like our guys are excited about the challenge today. Well, another celebration here today senior day, I want to ask you to talk too much right now about your seniors because I think anyone who's followed. This program knows how much Vick lawn Derek partner meant to absolutely you know, those guys they're their legacy. Here's cemented. They believed as recruits they believed in something that had never been done that. There was a vision of what this program could be you know, that it could win that could be a postseason team that could win in the big ten and they went out, and they did it and I'm just so proud of all they've accomplished individually what they've done his teammates. And it's a special group today. We're always makes it very emotional Miller part of that group, Jordan Nash who has been able to play much this year missed most of the season got hurt last year when he's probably playing his best at the time. It's been kind of overlooked this year. And I know you don't want to necessarily play the woulda coulda what if game. But but had he been healthy this year, given some of the issues you've had good he'd been a difference maker. I definitely think so you know, Jordan is such a great leader for this team. I mean is he's vocal guy. The guys follow is. He's very smart. He knows basketball. He understands the way the game should be played. I thought he was playing very good basketball. Last year when he got hurt and he'd worked very hard to get in that position to be a key guy in the rotation. He gets knocked back by knee injury. That's really slowed him for quite a while. And he wasn't able to go this year. But the thing that's been so great as he stayed engaged. You know, he's he's like another coach he's got great input during the games. He talks those guys. He's they listen to him. And he would have been a big help. Because we know how thin we are guard and being a senior being a guy who knows what what's supposed to be done out there. There's no question. He would help this big time this year. I'm sure you remember the last senior day in Welsh Ryan arena against Purdue two years ago. And that was quite quite a game a little different situation. One thing hasn't changed. They're playing for big ten championship. Once again, you call this the other night a high level gained. That's what you expect. Yeah. I want our guys to approach it like a championship game. It is for Purdue. They have a lot riding on it. But I want our guys to feel that that sense of urgency. Also be we're going into a tournament. On Wednesday night where if you don't win your season's going to be over? And I want our guys to kind of get into that mode mood already get into that mindset of let's play today is if it's winner, go home, and let's see if we can lay it on the line. We know we're gonna play hard for the seniors. But and we know we're playing a team that's going to be incredibly motivated. They're coming off a loss. They're playing for the big ten championship. And we're going to get them at their best. So let's see how we can measure up a little different wrinkle for you lineup wise. Yeah, we're going to go with our seniors today. You know, it's it's not something. I do all the time. But this has been a special group. We have six seniors Jordan is not able to play. But the five guys that are in uniform Ryan Taylor, Charlie hall, Vic law, Derek partner and fouls on you know, I wanna give those guys a chance, and it's something they wanted as well. They came to me, and they want to go out there as their class, you know, for the jump ball. And I think it's a cool thing. And let's see how they do. Charlie hall hasn't seen a whole lot of plaintiff's been game this year. Now, he gets the start. His last game. Yeah. You know, he deserves it. And what was great to me? It was something that his fellow classmates and teammates wanted, you know, they came to me privately, and they said coach we want Charlie out there with us. And a lot is made Charlie such a great personalities a funny guy. He's he's always upbeat. He's always keeping things light. But people forget what he does behind the scenes to help us from basketball perspective, the work. He puts in he's on the scout team. He's been a great teammate and leader do his teammates. And he deserves today. Thanks coach. We'll talk after the all right? Thanks. Chris Collins head coach the Wildcats this northwestern basketball, presented by wintrust on seven twenty.

"Better advantage of this dry spell for the buckeyes swell. Both teams are known for their defense right now. Both teams are struggling a little bit of their own on the offensive end of the floor. Although I think northwest has got some nice strides to the who part got one gauge got that drive to hope they've got easy wants to transition one for law. That's the way they scored his transition. Either has got anything off our half court offense tailed western make that much of a difference to the Buckeye. Will you get better shots have such a threat you gotta drop in and help or so now you get open. Looks and the fact that he just create so much space. You get a lot of easy shots by dish. Use it as big frame right Taylor. Back into the Wildcats won't with dance pardons back in Turner for the buckeyes Yang is back here. Washington remains in the game dwelled with a shock hot here. The hash Mark across from us. Which to throw Andrew Yang Yang on top of the three point line right side gives the Washington to shoot Washington. Chased by Tertre puts up a hierarchy shot. No, good rebound. Weakside? Entree watson. Now Jackson cross-court feed Washington gets a pick from young looks around back to lessen now to Jackson. Jade's it inside or posting Andrei western against Ryan Taylor traffic. Almost lost the ball. Throws it away. Right. Greer rear. The other way stops three point line. Now, spins path Jackson gets inside the shot blocked out of bounds. But a foul is called nice play at both ends by Ryan Greer. Well, he kinda threw it right to. But I'll give him. Nice play. That was a nice move. There though. Little spin move got to the basket. Got fouled foul on Washington. Ryan burrow, beat the free throw line here. His only attempted six free throws. He's made two free throw. Good. Maybe these freshman starting to get these free throw yipes out of their system. We saw Miller top step up and knock.

"You know, usually turns people over twenty plus times tonight. So I thought we took care of the ball. I thought we got good shots. You know? I mean, we just didn't throw it in the ocean. In the first half think we're one for thirteen for three, and we started I think eleven of more wide open more uncontested threes. And you know, you got to when a team scattering. Yup. And making you drive and kick you gotta make some of those, and we just did it which able enabled them to get out in transition. I thought we had some breakdowns with our transition d you know, obviously fully he's really hurt us with his penetration. His ability to drive the ball. But I thought we played very well in the second half. I thought we fought hard. You know, I thought we did a lot of good things. You just we spotted him thirteen point lead. You know when you're on the road. That's that's tough to recover from where you also add skies. Ryan Taylor Gibbs scored the first-half comes comes out. It's three if not for the the charge on Vic had a fourth one. They went down there and Miller Coppell's kind of gave you that burst midway through the second hand. Yeah. It was good to see those guys. See the ball go in a little bit. You know, AJ tar all those guys got in double figures, which is huge for us. You know, we've been we've been trying to manufacture scoring, and you know, we've had Vick and Derek. And then we're we're trying to get guys involved in tonight. You know to have Miller with thirteen to have Taylor with thirteen Turner with twelve you know, especially a lot of those in the second half was was big for us. And you know, again, I thought we played very hard. I thought we did a lot of good things. We just you know, we we had some some opportunities there. I thought authencity that in the first half which allowed them to get some separation. And then we just could never quite get over the hump. I thought we had a couple of shots. There was six. I thought we had a couple of threes in the second half. They would have cut it to three when we did cut it to three in the second half. They hit us with a little seven point. Ronn pushed it right back to ten so just could never fully get over the hump. But again there there were some bright spots, especially in the second half. And hopefully, we'll use those going into our next game. Coach, I just heard another whistle. I think there's another foul. You miss. Yeah. I have to make an editorial on my part. I said something about Taylor and Turner not scoring last game and between him they got five tonight. So I want to first of all give them some congratulations for really producing. And the other thing is how about cop stepping up at hitting three free throws there at the end Miller did a good job in the second half. I think I believe he was over five at halftime come back in the second half and ago four for six from the field. You know, make a couple of big three's make three free throws. You know, we had a big dunk off of the steel. You know, we need those guys. You know, we we need we need five six guys that are that are threats to be able to to help us out there. And you know, I thought the three of those guys really did really did a lot of good things tonight. Right. You get to go home for your last two games show, Ohio State coming in on Wednesday. And it certainly appears we're going to have a say in who wins the big ten so big week at home things you could take from this game into those last two home games. Well, I hope the second half. We saw the ball go in a little bit. We, you know, I don't I don't know the last. Time we had a forty nine point half. So I want to remind you that you got a four forty nine point game. A couple exactly. So, you know, coming off a forty nine point half with a team that's been a little bit fragile with confidence offensively. You know? I think that that's a real bright spot. We saw the ball go in a little bit. And we're going home in you know, playing Ohio State we just played them a couple of weeks ago. So there's a familiarity there, and we just gotta play each game. It's not we're not really talking about the record right now. We're trying to play good basketball. You know? And I thought for a lot of stretches tonight, we did play good basketball. And now we just got to put it together. And find a way to try to get a win. And that's what we'll put our focus towards Wednesday night with Ohio. State. Sounds good coach. Thank safe travels. We'll see you. All right. Thank you. So you had to stand up to change channels. Exactly. There you go. See, plenty of active. What you're saying is get rid of the remote days better. No, they were not. So what does everyone thing podcast at what could do you? Use a standing desk to use a treadmill desk or bike desk or any other weird kind of desk activity combo. How are you trying to get on top of this problem to solve back pain or to lead a more active lifestyle? That is no puck at wired dot co dot U K running meetings. Let's do that. Oh, good. God. I wouldn't get a word out. A second story is about people who move around an awful lot YouTubers. Yes. Those pesky YouTubers what have they been up to now? So this is a story about rooftop is have you ever seen any YouTube videos over rooftops? What I'm talking about these videos? There's a whole separate dedicate the sweaty palms where you just watch video. Whereas someone doing something scary up high on our ledge. They terrify me so much. Yeah. These videos of people doing kind of crazy par call or free climbing type stunts usually on top of really tool buildings. These death defying tricks on the top of skyscrapers, and that kind of thing. And you're right. Matt Reynolds, I have no idea. Why people do absolutely terrifying? And there have been cases of people, unfortunately, harming themselves in these in that is doing this. It's not it's not all play for the likes. Yeah. So yeah. I mean, these videos on get a lot people get big followings for regularly producing this kind of stuff, and you know, the more dangerous. The better really when it comes to enticing viewers, but surprise surprise the manages of these tool buildings day, really like it. Think the building manages, thankfully. We did. It turns out they had something to say. Yes, I writer James Malley has been speaking to both rooftop is and the London building managers who are trying to fight against them as the companies that Ono manage some of the most iconic buildings in London say things like the shard the tallest building on skyline. Canary war fluids of London. They're really trying to upper fight against these YouTube pranksters who are basically trespassing on their buildings and climbing them in a very unsafe way. Don't try this at home. So he kind of looked at this kind of war. That's going on the streets underground and three spoke to the likes of Allie, Lauren. Ryan Taylor who are two very well known rooftop YouTube is. And kind of ask them about how they go into it and everything, and they basically seem they alley law said, you know, who's an unhappy teenager, he discovered Parker when he was sixteen and it just became his thing. He really loves it. And he admitted that you know, running away from the security or the police is part of the excitement that's part of the adrenaline, and it's often played up in his video. So you'll see on his videos have kind of big capital letters, like we run away from police helicopter or nearly got caught by security. So the kind of flirting with the illegality of this practice. Definitely keep going in some of these videos, and as we see we've so much stuff on YouTube. There's a lot of upmanship goes into this thing. I guess they want a helicopter to be called out because adds to the drama adds to the story of the videos, and as time's gone by they've had to resort more and more daring stunts in order to stay there, ROY vols, get more subscribers more clicks, go viral all these things that you've is become problematic for in other areas are also. Problem for building manages, the problem is obviously whether genius is very unsafe, and legal, but actually in the UK trespassing, which is what these buildings curative people trying to start happening. It's usually considered a civil offence nor criminal offense, which means that you know, you have a limited amount of. Of work that law enforcement can do to stop people from entering buildings. The wrist Rover the criminal sense. It means that you basically have to take them to call after the fact, and you can get one thing that build manages turn is to get injunctions against well known YouTube rooftop park or stores to the stars to ban them from entering.

"Boosted their conference marked a two and five behind the continued strong play of senior center Derek pardon. Although we're seniors Vic law and Ryan Taylor. The cats have given Indiana all they can handle that first meeting back in December. And they hope to avenge that two point loss tonight. Eric store without sandy to elementary. It would seem the league has come up with a formula that works and stopping Indiana watering a few concur with that thinking. Well, my brain is quite elementary. So I do concur. I think for Indiana, it is getting down back down to the basics and understanding kind of the flow of offense and how they can get points basketball can be very complicated at times dawn. But sometimes it's as simple as the team that scores the most amount of points as the team that's gonna win in Indiana's got to play better. Offense teams have packed the lane and really made Indiana three point shooting team Indiana has not forced many threes. They've just really struggled to score inside the pain. What was Indiana strength at the beginning of the year teams have figured out and try to take away the lane and Indiana's got to figure out what is next for this offense fifty five and fifty one points the last couple of losses for this Indiana team not nearly enough in this league. You've got consistently be up in the seventies to have a chance to win especially on. Road against a very good northwestern team. So the question is what does Indiana. Do they've got to find a way to score from outside though. They do. I mean, these guys have got to start playing with some more confidence. Spacing the floor is going to be really important. And you've got to be multidimensional offensively. Not that you have to take threes, but you have to make the defense thing that you're willing to take threes using your eyes and ball fakes and shot fakes can get a defense off-balance second guessing what you're going to do with the basketball triple threat position. Don is a real thing. When you catch the ball look up at the rim. Make the defense respect where you're going to go have the ball triple threat, you can shoot pass or dribble out of triple threat position. I think Indian has got to do something to make teams respect their outside shooting spread the court a little bit more which will open up driving lanes for these guys. Jon Morgan Romeo length would have had a lot of trouble every time. The catch the ball inside the paint. There's two or three defenders making life absolutely miserable for them, which has stunted. Indiana's offense here the last few weeks. The hoosiers have got to do something to get defensive second guessing themselves respected of the three point line or use triple threat position to get guys off balance defensively, I'll tell you why. That's why they pay them the big bucks. These coaches in big ten understand how to play it. Both ends of the court. I'd expect Archie Miller to make a nice adjustment. Not only in this game. But as the weeks common this season. Well, they're going to have to make some.

"You by our fund be the difference. In support our scarlet knights today. And that goes to Vic law who hadn't played the last four games. He winds up with five assists issued a great. But he played thirty one minutes in his return. We send it downstairs. Dow is Rutgers head coach Steve Pikal joins coach Jerry Joe upstairs. I guess I guess my question coach, you know, you you were down ten twice you battle back. You get it to forty nine forty nine what they do down the stretch to pull away, you know? And and as you guys saw it comes down to a couple of shots go in you know, obviously for Ryan Taylor their their fifth year transfer hits two big ones down the stretch. And that was the difference in the game. You know, where we gotta shoot better from the free throw line. But you know, I I like thirteen today we played hard everybody contributed. You know, we played the way we're supposed to play. Again. We're missing missing a huge piece of thing. But northwestern's good team. You know, Vick laws a fifth year senior AJ Turner's a transfer that isn't his fourth year of college pardons, a fifth year senior, you know, they got some older guys Ryan Taylor fifth year guy in to their credit. A you know, they made a couple more plays than us down the stretch thought defensively you had that one stretch when you made that run you held them with one field goal for almost five and a half minutes to get to the game. So terrific job defensively. I thought you know, we we bounce back from the other day. You know, I like the way we competed, you know, our margin for winning or losing right now is is not a huge one. You know, going to the free throw line huge fifteen for twenty five got to kind of finish up some of those free throw attempts and again four for seventeen from three they defend the three. Well, we talked a lot about that. I thought we got some decent looks too. But you know, didn't didn't have them go down today. But you know this. Basketball team today. Played the way we're supposed to play. And I thought a great example of that was shack dourson defensively coach, you know, he really did a good job in the second half. Especially because pardon was having his way in the first half was six for six if I'm not mistaken. That's right. And you know, Shaq did a great job with that. But again, they go fourteen for seventeen from the free throw line that helps you in close games and they made two big three's down the stretch where the kid got a little wiggle room. And and hadn't been making them prior to that. And he made the last two daggers. Yeah. That was that was I thought that was the biggest play they ran at ball screen often where there were isolated on that side. And he makes to the next three possessions. He knocks downs race. And I just liked the way your team fought back though. I mean, they just they felt they got a chance to win this game right down to the end. What is termination there was that bounce back? Obviously Purdue was a tough game for us in in two days and kind of get their minds back in and worried about the one game today northwestern with one day to prepare for them. And you know, I thought the game plan was good. You know, just a few plays away in you know, how critical each play is in each possession is here in in this conference. I think coach is one thing when you lose a player like Eugene who adds not just gives you that scoring gives you eight or ten points in a game. Like that. This certainly is a difference. You know, he's, you know, our most athletic guy needs emergency defender, right? So he can block shots down the stretch. He takes charges. You know? He's another guy that could chase guys off screens to so. I mean, we certainly miss them. There's no excuse there would just a little bit younger when he's not when he's not around him we need. Everyone's you know, we need everyone healthy and ready to go. But you know, I appreciate the crowd coming out. They were loud. And and I really do appreciate all their support. It helps our guys tremendously as you know, we're going through some growing pains here in some some injury panes. No crowd makes a difference. I think it says a lot for them. And what they think about this team when you see the crowd they had tonight the enthusiasm especially in the student section. I mean, that's that tells you a lot about what the students on campus think about this group. Yeah. You know, the students have been great in our guys do a great job, you know, with them. But you know, we just came up a little short today. I loved the development of Mathis loved the development of Carter. I think Caleb to when Peter kiss was good today thought he came in. And gave us a nice spark. You know? So a lot of good efforts tonight. Just not good enough. Thanks coach. Thanks, guys. Final score tonight as northwestern beats Rutgers sixty five to fifty seven one final time out. We will come back, and we'll get you the player of the game. And a look ahead to Nebraska as well on the Rutgers IMG sports network..

"But I don't know that for sure, and there's no way anybody can know that for sure because we don't know how Matty reflows is as a CEO. He's never had. There's no job that replicates the head coaching job in the NFL. So some of the best football minds in the NFL are not good head coach is still and some of the head coach is out there. Are not the best football minds. We have to remember there. They're two different jobs. Yeah. That is a that is very very true one more question here. And this is from Eddie. I don't know if you're going to bite on this. This is always just fascinated me. When I've watched sport. Why does C J Anderson never get himself up after a run? He demands his teammates lift him every single time. If they're slow to lift he does not take a hint and wants to be lifted, which is it's just it's always funny to me because I guess on one hand. Okay. The running back does and the play on the ground and all the linemen don't necessarily do it. But it's kind of like kind of like, I just I just blocked for you. Like, I my my job was really hard. I don't wanna come over it. And now expend more energy, helping you up. Well, just about every single run. C J Anderson is head for the Rams so far has been between five and twelve yards downfield. And that's just what he can't do it. And so he's in position to ask for help. What I wanna see if he breaks one away for forty five or fifty yards and then lays on the turf waiting for the linemen to make their way down. And then if he asks for help up I'll think Eddie has a point here, but we don't know CJ Anderson's like that yet. He's only running near bodies right now. He gets forty yards downfield. He's like a turtle on his back waiting for someone to come flip him over that. I didn't have you ever driven through Texas and seeing the armadillos on the side of the road that are dead but perfectly preserved and what you realize is they just fell over on their back. Wow. No. I didn't know that was a thing that's incredibly sad. Man, you armadillos thing. Yeah. Yeah. I assume that's what happened. I saw them. Like that on a vacation in my dad said that's must have been what happened. But now that I think about it. I mean, my dad. I love them. But he doesn't own any more than the next guy. I don't. So maybe that's not what's happening. But it looks like when you go on the road. There's all these really good-looking armadillos that are dead on their backs and Texas and certain parts of Texas. Wow. Now, I've been to Texas couple times. I never I never spotted the armadillos. To sad metaphor end the show on the metaphor. I'm telling you, this is what I saw he's Armagh dillas with dead on their its isn't it a metaphor for something though. Stadium three Andy something like that. All right. That's a wrap. We'll be we'll be back on. We'll be back on Monday. And of course, we'll be back next Thursday for the deep dive show, and we need your questions. So send those questions in of. Yeah. We have stuff to talk about. But you can also tell us with dog about it's that kind of relationship that we have for now. Thanks to our researchers read foster and Ryan Taylor make us outsmart and thank you as always to producer Shelby Royston. And the guys that came thirteen who make a sound good every show most. Well, thank you guys for listening.

"The ball and they have quarterbacks in. I don't know if it's the same deal. You could look at it that way if I were if I were looking at it that is not how look at it. But I think you're I think that's that's glass. Ninety five percent to the way full when it's really only half full kind of thinking that that's terrible metaphor. I'm sorry about that. But. I think the Bengals should be more realistic with their with their thinking going forward. I think they they lack playmakers on defense. I mean, I don't know. What do you think? AG AJ. Don, do you think Andy Dalton could be a quarterback who can lead a, you know, a thirty plus points per game offense, which I think is what you need with the short comes. They have on defense. Well, if you put it that way, I guess not. But. That's why I wanted to Jack Taylor's D coordinator will be as well. I think they need. It's time for a system change on the defense is what stale that's where we ought to be talking about that. And who's Zack Taylor can get him? Sure. He's already got a guy in mind because they probably wouldn't give a no name head coach the job. If you didn't have a guy in mind, I want to know who is defensive coordinator will be. All right mailbag. I know I promised the bigger mailbag. And that was foolish me because we're going to do a fairly cook on. However, I will promise once again because I'm gonna guess Andy our show next week where we break down the Pro Bowl promptly. That's probably like thirty five minutes. And then we'll have like another fifty minutes to fill. So I I'm not talking thirty five minutes about the Pro Bowl. You will. We will have plenty of time to to take mailbag questions. Please keep them coming. We have a bunch. We have a backup. Thank you for being patient people who send to ban then not that. We guarantee will answer everyone. But we got some good questions that we've been meeting to answer. So send them to talk back at the dot com. Or you can send them straight to us on Twitter or on Facebook, two quick ones. One of them's actually from Ryan Taylor. One of our researchers who he works very hard for us during the years will we will. We will. We will answer this one for him Ryan ass our teams so convinced that keeping slash. Hiring QB is works for a head coach Dirk koetter was kept because of his relationship with James, and that situation fell apart Kingsbury won't have anything major with a Baker. And Pat as the only positive outlier is I'm not sure what you were over there. Ryan. Outline hasn't won anything major with Baker. And pat. Oh at Texas Tech. Yes. Yes. Yes. There we go. Baker Mayfield in Patrick Mahomes, about the way. Just just a little slow on the uptake and the only positive outlier is McVay who is universally acknowledged as a coaching freak. It seems like teams have stuck themselves into hiring these guys when more established coaches, either flus Fangio et cetera are out there and can hire decent offense coordinators who are available Nathaniel. Hi, Katie Green Bay, for example. So there you go..

"You got a guy was Spartans are on a kennel raw they had an eleven run earlier. This is eight twenty one to two run over all sandwiched around a Derek, pardon basket. The only one of the Wildcats made in their last nine shots while this BART's have made their last eight and Michigan state out to a twenty one point lead here. Joe what do you do your Chris Collins right now? And this team has lost close games. But now all of a sudden you find yourself in in somewhat unfamiliar territory doubt by twenty one points. So the first thing they do they get back on defense. They broke down defensively in the last two minutes gave wide open threes hit two three it's bad enough. They're beaten inside the can't give wide open looks transition signal. I think I got to attack a little bit to get to the foul line settling a little two bucks for jumpers that aren't going down. Just hope you get it down and under the fifteen and if you ever want to use the twenty seven point differential. That's right. Bring it up. Update five guys on the floor for the Wildcats. Three of them were not in that gave Miller cop Ryan Taylor. And Ryan Greer Derek hard both out there. Both have a couple of fouls. Coach we try anything to get motivated. Gotta keep bite. But he's having a big game tonight. What he points nine of thirteen Derek six of twelve points. Wildcats being outrebounded twenty one eight that's big part of this as well.
