"Is, wow, he's much more likely to be attached as making the money work in a trade than yes. Exactly. Yes. I mean, you brought up your profit run there. Man, it is, I'm sure stars fans have to deal with this reality on a day to today basis and they're aware of it. But the fact that they gave Ryan suter that no move clause. Oh man. Is so restrictive because if you could make a deal work around getting Ryan suter's money off the team basically and attach him as many futures as you want to it and replacing his minutes with Jacob Chico. I would feel very good about this team being definitively the best team in the west. And you know, it is what it is at this point, but like just thinking about chicken on this stars team where all of a sudden you can play him with Niels linguist or something that you want to find out. But then you have this breaking break in case of emergency option where you just load up him in high school on a tour if you really need to go for it in high leverage moments. It'd be so intriguing instead you're left with a situation where the reason why I brought up the power play plates. Is when their top players are out there at the top unit, they're like every bit as good as the Edmonton Oilers who are historically great power play. But then they're giving two power play minutes a game or so. To Ryan suter were backing their second unit and it's just like I do not I really do not understand what is going on here. It's baffling to me. For a team that generally makes pretty smart decisions and I like a lot of what they've done, like the doubling tripling down on a sunk cost here is a real issue when you're like, we're going to go into a playoff series against a dominant team where not other great west team and it's like, how is that going to shake out? Well, we're going to be seeing a lot of Ryan suter and high leverage moments and that's a real issue.

Stars beat Golden Knights 4-0 in DeBoer's return to Vegas

"Jake gottinger turn back 27 shots is the stars handed the golden knights their first shutout loss of the season for nothing. Dallas was the winner in head coach Pete deboer's return to Vegas, where he coached for two and a half seasons. Jamie Ben opened the scoring 5 45 into the game, moving him into second on the star's all time points list. Joel Kevin, Ryan suter and Tyler Sagan also tallied out into your claim to his third shout out of the season and 5th of his career. The stars moved back into a tie with the jets for the central division lead. Vegas continues to top the Pacific by three points over the kraken. I'm Dave ferry.

Razor will have the call and then the new people coming around lauren. Calendar in michelle Mcmahan i hope i'm saying her name right again and and we'll see them. We'll see brian ray as an analyst. That'll be really weird. Brian ray was on razors. Podcast has time now yet. And if you live and rush yes if you haven't gone to go listen to that episode. You need to go. Listen to it and Brian ray did an excellent job. So great broadcast i love. Yeah it was a very good episodes. I'm very excited for that. He liked old guys though man. I hate that he was singing. The praises of michael rothwell bro. I wasn't about it. Well maybe my garage will surprise us. That's that's the best we can hope for so anyways It'll be the is going to be the first game of the season between these two teams in the play again on march twelfth. Twenty twenty two and obviously. They didn't play the rangers last season because the covert they only played inter inter division games. And we'll see how this goes for the stars in one of the most iconic buildings in the nhl. Yeah pretty cool place to start actually at at beam as g and the rangers actually just got off a game tonight that they played in washington They got destroyed. I think it was five to one. Yeah ended five to one for the capitals. The rangers got demolished. So good news for us. They're tired in got beat. Well let's take the same thing if the guy if they got a bit bit. They got they definitely got well. If ryan reeves was out there there might have been some biting going on but if they got beat really bad they may be pissed off and come out and play a better game especially in front of their home crowd. So now they're i don't know too tired we'll beat the crap out of them so One of the things that they pointed out on the whatever. You called the preview for the for the game tomorrow. Is they really kind of highlighted Ryan suter an in so. So let's just take a look at some of these you know stats. I guess you could say for ryan suter. Why pointed out. So he spent nine seasons in minnesota any signed a four year contract with stars on on my birthday..

"Like them. I just think that they're a team. That has so much talent. And you always bet on talent. You always bet on talent. I'm curious camper. If you can stay healthy. I think he's an enormous. Add to those guys. I really liked their team. I think they're going to be fine and like listening them a car and and mckinnon talk to us about losing that series and what they learn from it. I liked it. I i still think this team has a lot of room to grow. They're not done and their elite talent. I think it's gonna sign there for a long time. Dallas They add ryan suter Johnny hawkin pa comes in as well. The line that we've found some magic last year jason robertson repay hinz and joe pavlovsky I see no reason why that can't continue to be a a line that does damage and big things were expected from players like dennis korean off. Who didn't have the best possible season last year. We've talked a lot about the goaltending situation. And how that plays itself oats between khudobin and hopi and injure in ben bishop. How do you see the dallas stars. This season i think their deep. I think they have a lot of players. Like to me. The thing with dallas. Is they look to me like a team. It kind of went through with pa- vel skin perry and they still a couple of other guys like that. Who are a little bit older. And you can't always depend on them to bring the most in the regular season so if you rest your group gets him into the playoffs you look at them and say i want no part of this guy. I think they got a lot of players like sudanese thirty six years old. But he's still a really fluid player. Who can play. Not as many minutes as he used to play but enough. I think they're going to be fine. I think no one's gonna wanna see them in the postseason if they're goaltending heads up. I think there are what passes in this. Division is a reasonably comfortable playoff team again. How much are they going to score. Like tyler sagan to me is can can he just get wine healthy season where he can you know. Breathe a little bit. That's something i want to see too but there's a there's a lot i like about this team. I just think they have a lot of good players. I think they're really deep minnesota to really exciting team and it's not just capris off topline with joel eriksson neck and mats zuccarello looks pretty dynamic They're out suitor as we just mentioned but you know doumba spurgeon bodine Still very much there. They bring in alex. Goski cam talbot capital kotkin So an excellent tandem in net as well an interesting training camp will d gets injured. That's tough that sucked rossi sent to H. l. iowa a love the atom beckmann story He got sent down to the american hockey league. But not before turning heads and it was a fun story to follow. Give us your thoughts on the minnesota wild for each look. I was curious to see how this team would react like their. Gm made the most stunning off season move of any gm in the league. Sure did and you're sitting there and you're looking okay. Like how does this team react when they get back. And i don't think they look shellshocked or anything like that. I think they're fine. So that says to me that this team is going to be okay. I'll tell you something else too. That really impressed me about caprice off later. So capris off comes back and he says okay. I'm in florida. Come meet me here and the hammer out the deal and guarantees like okay. You know we gotta figure out how to get vaccinated like no. I came back here to make sure i was in the right position to be vaccinated. And that's taking care of like to me. That's a guy who has his heart in the right place like he went and he took care of all of those things so then when he got done it was the best possible position to be ready to start the season for his latest contract. Talks with i just like that. like i think. When when your franchise player. And he's their franchise player is wired that way. I think it rubs off on everybody else because he signed these in. And you're like okay. He's taken care of everything. He needs to take care of on his own initiative. I liked this team to like. You know the one thing that difference for them this year is they're not going to surprise everybody that anybody this year last year. They surprised people and he's surprised people this year. That's not happening. Everybody knows who they are. And they're getting everybody's good game. So how do they handle that. And the other guy who i really think this year will be big for is doumba. 'cause there's no more rumors. He's a wild. No watch will go them tomorrow. Just a fool with all our minds. But i wonder how it's going to be for the doesn't have to worry about this stuff anymore. Yeah just play. Just play just going. Play the nashville part. Of course we are at that part of the program. Now we're talking about nashville. And this is life without pekka rene who has called it. A career life without ryan ellis Who moves along but life was from new faces. Whether it's glass myers tolkien tomasini. Oh i mentioned earlier. The david poile is now talking about competitive rebuilds. Which will be the next buzz. Term that hits the the nhl gives you don's on on this national squad that is probably at the beginning the beginning parts whether it's with tolbert and whether it's with thomas no the v. and we'll see what happens you know when you're slava's off finally you know Starts playing with the the nashville predators. This is the beginning of another version of the nashville predators. I just wonder about two things that will tell us. I think a lot about which direction this organization is headed fridge and their two contracts one forsberg one at home. What say you. I want to get to them in a second. I think that's really interesting. Is that they have played forsberg duchenne. Joe hansen altogether in the preseason to me. That's really fascinating. Because that is natural. Saying we're coming out. We're putting our top three offense forwards together and we're making a power line out of them that to me is a statement. Now whether that lasser or not coaches are we going to spread it out and john heinz like no. Forget that we're going with this. I liked that. I think it sets a tone. I'm i'm with you. this no talks on forsberg. That's really fascinating to me and eco. Home the thing about at home is eh comb was a bargain last time around and he said you know i don't care don't need more money now. I think everybody realizes he's not a nine million dollar guy like nurse because his counting stats aren't that high. But he's still a really good really talented player. And i think they're battling to find where that sweet spot.

"Thirty six years old right and everybody is you know getting onto the stars for giving a three point six million dollar deal for four years to a guy. That's in his late thirties. Men ryan suter right. Alex gola goski signs with minnesota one year for five million dollars. That seems that's what i'm saying. Rich suitor you. If he goes somewhere for one year he can make a lot more. And that's what i was. Gossage does do was like all right. I'll hop around teams. When i retire and i'll make as much money as i can like if he tries to sign a four year and indus contract with the team. The way sooner did he's probably gonna be right around where suitors money is but he's gonna take more and take a shorter term. Minnesota's gonna try to run. I really just don't understand that cap. Hit five million dollars. The he's still a good defense man. I understand that but all these moves that bill erin is making. I mean some of them were like. Oh wow that's great. He's some of them are like what earth are you doing. I mean like the whole we'll go back to the whole buying out ryan suter anzac parisa thing both at the same time. I mean i maybe buying up her easy but suitor really and then he goes out in gives glogowski five million dollars. I don't i don't get it. I really don't i don't understand it. So whatever but that. That's that's a. That's probably the biggest over pavement for me in my opinion at of any of these players on this list. Okay let's just do two more each and there at this up for the evening because there's we could go on for forever. But i wanna get just a couple more. You wanna go first. You want me to go. First outdo gets laugh. We were looking at gets off apparently but he stays in anaheim for one year. Four point five which again. That's kind of a lot for a guy thirty six but we'll see it's also kind of confusing like if you're gonna stay there like wouldn't you want to stay there for a long time like i would i if i just wanted to stay in anaheim. I would've signed a longer term. I don't think that was in the plans for the anaheim ducks though is my thing. I don't think they wanna give him two or three year deal. He might've been wanting that. And maybe that's why he went to market in the first place to see if there were two three million dollar or two three year options for him. But i think really. That's what it came down to the anaheim. Just didn't wanna give him the extra term. Here's one of the. Here's one of the biggest ones that doesn't surprise me but it's a it's a really good. Signing is line is oh mark. The goaltender former goaltender of buffalo goes to boston for your deal. Twenty million dollars..

"He's doing a meeting and talking to clear the same time crazy. You're a door chrish. Talented guy anyways. Okay so ryan suter d. Okay based off for the other signing that. We'll talk about here in a second. Do you see him filling that fourth spot in filling alexi extra. I think it's gonna just be depend on whoever plays better with me row. If mirrow likes playing with souder better or playing with the classic big guy like alexi. It just depends on what works best. I think either one would be fine all right so i'm leaning towards shooter. Yes there's my official answer so all right so we we keep we keep mentioning this guy. We're gonna go ahead and go ahead with him. I before defenseman. Yeah the mystery defenseman who who at his. He has one of the greatest names in the world. This reminds me of yogi pucca member. Your yoki poker. He has a named just like that. His name has hawkin pau hockey. That is so much fun to say. I cannot. I cannot wait for a razor. Just say that for the first time and have some sort of razor ism with hocken pau. Gay hocken. pod comes from the carolina hurricanes. He is a six five holy crap. Big boy. I know that probably a guide to help fulfill that size role Alexia left He signs for a three year deal worth one. Point five million per depending on how you look at this contract does could be a good contract. good value or we could have overpaid him What's your thoughts. Initial thoughts on mr haagen pau. I think this is the best free agent. Signing i have tied tied for the best free agent signing so i think he's twenty nine. It's a three year contract which he's going to be on this team for a while. Still and even if if he does sex trade him because he doesn't have movement clause a nobody. But anyway from what i've seen and heard from other people who watch him often. He's a really like solid defensive guy like he his mindset is defense i he's not really offensively minded at all but he's a solid d guy doesn't really make mistakes. He's always in the right position and of course he's big. We like big big is good so i really love the signing. I think it's super cheap. I think it's cheaper than what deserves from what i've heard at least so i really like signing A couple of things about mr hawkin pau his first name. Yani yani hawkin pa. Sorry i'm gonna keep saying because it's so much fun to say. Anyways he is twenty nine years old split the season between anaheim and carolina. Last season Like you said he. He's not offensive guy. He only had four points in fifty. Seven regular-season games between the two teams but his big thing. He finished third in the league. With two hundred fifteen hits. I'm really excited for that part. I like so he also He played with carolina In the playoffs Showed up with carolina for eleven playoff games In here's another interesting thing about Hocken pau in why he wanted to come to the stars. What are the stars known for christian left handed defenseman good gas but no. He's finished he's another member of the finnish mafia..

"Which is obviously very admirable but the night's have to hope that you know he holds up at least a little bit for now three years but yeah it is funny dave job to the beginning of his last answer. The kelly mcrib attended gently admonished him for the term gave martinez really shanley. Yeah a really was pretty nuts for defensemen wednesday morning. I mean i believe. I heard minnesota while general manager. Billy garin sale like man. I wish i could escape backwards and pick up my stick again because it's great to be defensemen right now. I think pittsburgh general manager. Ron hextall made some sort of comment of lake omega thought last year my colleagues a lot smarter of that. I looked this year that i realized that probably wasn't the case. So there is a lot of crazy money being of flung around especially for kind of second third pair dies. So i think that actually you know when the term and for martinez initially came in. I think it was fair to have some questions about it. Once you compared his contract to the ones that were signed during the free agent period. And you brought up know thirty six year old ryan suter getting four years of a full. No move day. I think all of a sudden the martinez deal looked even the oh better on wednesday then when we initially got word of it on monday. Yeah and i think that's you know. Basically what counting here. Who was trying to tell me like. Hey donny you know look around like some of these other deals and you know if you look at a team are just gonna throw this out there you know. 'cause i can't get busted for tampering but like i mean if boston had a chance to get off martinez and looking at you know their need and what they ended up doing anything like the i think you know. Maybe what danny. Our friend danny webster in our report. I think there was else do that. You know bosman made an offer. That was definitely more money than the nights i had made but it was last term so you know again. I think that year commitment. You know that the nights you know we're able to make cited to make him lists was probably ultimately the clincher for him to come back the aso that was objective to in the offseason objective. Three improving the forward group They tried to do that by starting off wednesday morning by trading right wing of guinea dad. Who may ottawa. Senators in exchange for defensive. Nick holden and a third round pick data is a thirty two year old. Pretty much all offense winger which the nights are kind of renowned for all of two way wings. They have on their roster. This guy is a lot more one dimensional his last three seasons pre pandemic he scored twenty eight twenty eight and twenty five goals. So all excellent totals playing with the excellent playmakers. They have in florida in alexander. Cobb john hubert o. Eill last year. He gets traded to ottawa scores. Thirteen goals in fifty five games so a down year. Obviously the talent on the senators is much different than those kind of two star players for florida. He also talked yesterday when he got a chance of doing with him at climate Mentioned this as well that he was away from his family in ottawa. His family didn't travel with him when he went to the senators and his wife was also pregnant for a lot of last year. So i think it was very difficult for him. He also has two other kids. So i think it was tough season mentally for him but on paper. This is a guy that kind of checks a lot of boxes for the nights in terms of you know. They obviously needed scoring health-based novel. Asu postseasons have gone. Mccrum said he kind of fit the bill for them he also said he couldn't Lives in the heart. Ice gone through watching some of the goals he can score around the net He's played in the bumper spot a lot on florida's power play and i haven't had anyone that really excelled in that role so far. Do you think this is a good fit dave orchard. Are there some question marks about the fact that you know. He's is coming off a down year and he is thirty two years old. This point licenses are valid question marks. May i think you're you're always wondering which player you're going to get nar. You're gonna get the one from few years ago. In florida as he said you know going back to his first stint when he was in florida even when pete the board was the coach. So that was like you know two thousand eight nine ten eleven like right around there and he kind of washed out spending time in the minors. I'm not saying you're going to get that players. He pointed out you know. He was young. Speak english since he's been back. It's been much smoother adjustment in. He's shown it on the ice at least in florida so one of the things. I found this interesting one of the things that you use asked two questions in russian. How might year happened to pick up. Those were being asked the doors. Vanya ship a shop and i kind of put it out there on twitter. I think i think he was asked them out. Ship shop and somebody on twitter followers kind of said volunteer. The ice russian line. Give it to me. Let me hear what they said. And when nights put out the video they cut that part out so she wasn't even here at i send it to her. She sent me back with the translation And i believer was pretty accurate. So what she said. The translation of the two questions were were basically that one he was asked during his time here and even in the cage. He's played with elite centers. A ship shop in our costs in florida in what he hoping the play within lead center in vegas and you know how would he play if out one essentially and the other thing he was asked about was did he talk to ship shop off about vegas and he kind of brushed that off But as far as the other question he said it was out of the scans. And you know. We'll see. But i hope to kind of prove in with you know those those types of players so i bring this up because i don't i wonder i don't know where he to gore in tom. Criminal you when this acquisition where they figure him in the lineup where they slaughter room. I mean you figure at least on the surface right now if you just keep the top six the way it is and you start sliding guys from the third line on. I mean you've got alex top down alderman it your center..

"Logging but also joining us is good buddy. Jack razor jack. What's going on a quite a lot. It's very long day. I am if. I never see another hockey data viz for the rest of my life. I think right now. I feel pretty happy. At least it was exciting. It wasn't like last year where we were just of sitting around awkwardly for a in our time without assigning happening so i guess i'm grateful for that certainly Even though we still reside in a flat cap environment teams had no such limitations in terms of the money. They're in spending in. We're gonna work our way through we. The three of us did a show last week which feels like months ago now. Talking about the expansion draft was seattle. Jobs do and it was fun and people enjoyed it so i figured we'd bring back the team together for this one and so the plan for today as we're going to work our way through genuinely insane deo signings can try to sort through the biggest themes best and worst moves whatever it is. We think those notable and because so much happened. It's pretty easy to stop. So i think it'll be a good exercise even for us and so let's get right into it. Brian let you start what. Give me your biggest story whether it's a theme or whether it's a team or player you can take it any way one. Yeah i think the thing that is truly truly amazing to be. It's funny because i i actually wrote about it for libra strikes over the weekend. I i don't know how. Nhl defenseman are valued anymore. Like i do. It just doesn't make any kind of sense to me I mean you know the people are saying would say that. This is an apples and oranges comparison. But like the fact that seth jones got a eight years nine and a half and Camel car got six years. Nine is wild dougie hamilton. Just got seven years nine And i look you know i. I don't think we need to explain to the listeners of this show Where we are as a group where. All three of us are at Seth jones wise or dougie hamilton and cameras. Honestly but like you said jones is a guy that's like the number is eight him but here's the one weird trick That he that he uses to get nhl people to think he's good at his job And i guess it's being tall probably playing lot in. Maybe that's too weird trips. But the thing i was just saying this to dmitry before we started recording To tell you how insane. Nhl defenseman valuation has gotten The boston bruins. The i think yesterday announced they resigned. Mike riley three years three million dollars and then today mike riley berry good middle pair. Defenseman really shined after being traded to the bruins of the deadline. Today they give derek forber a bad bottom paired offensive defense only offense of black hole Couldn't cut it on The winnipeg jets And they give him three years three million dollars the exact same contract. And i don't know how they i don't know how if you're done sweetie you're saying these two blair's worth exactly the same to me. Yeah well i just talked a lot. Sorry i was listening to. It was certainly i think that is the biggest theme. It certainly was a good database defenseman especially if you are over six foot tall especially if you're over six two and if you shoot right like oh my god you were. You're laughing today. I think he's a sampling of contracts. We saw Variety defenseman codes e four years dean mowing derek forward three years nine million tucker pullman four years ten million travis hamic two year six million david savard voyeurs fourteen million ryan suter four years. Fourteen point six million. That obviously doesn't include the seventy six million dollars extension set jones god contract for three years ten point. Five or so of the brendan mantra. Got the day before from panthers. The premium the flyers traded to acquire razzmatazz. The line and And so i guess in one sense. I'm surprised that that much money was given out to to defense of varying levels. And obviously i think all those guys should have been paid as much especially in the term they got i but i guess we should have seen it coming just because it feels like this has been a perfect storm right. We just had a postseason where any broadcasts you turned on regardless of who was playing. They're talking about. How montreal had four. Chris pronger's who are these big defense men who were carried postseason all the way down the final you had then. We entered the andrew draft or the expansion draft you had seattle taking guys like carson sushi in germany lows on over objectively better candidates from their own teams. You had the leafs protecting justin holdover. Jared mccann We saw the trade sunday on with this as jones and the rest of the salon and stuff so it seems like teams. Just talk themselves kind of back themselves at this coroner of thinking like all right we. We need to fill a quota of this certain type of player. Because that's been proven to be successful in the league. And that's why you have off seasons like this when so far where where it just seems like the valuations are sold off from what you typically expect. Based on what the players have actually provided in terms of their on-ice results. There was a lot of is that per year or over the entire contract This time around. Which i we hadn't seen for a while but i i totally agree to. I think it's definitely part of a larger thing that we've been seeing you know. We obviously saw it a lot. This loss You know like. I think actually predicted during our Second round preview. You know as soon as vegas beat. Colorado and sam's yard had a bad series. You know that basically confirmed to thirty one or thirty two. Gm's that the answer to your defense is problem is that they aren't big enough. In a basically gave them kind of carte blanche to go to any death defensemen that was available especially for right handed and give them a contract. That seems totally out of whack with whether actual ability is so. I think that was definitely the biggest thing for me was was not only you know we knew that jones was going to get a giant pile of money. You know we knew teams were gonna value essence the line in you know the the minute munchers are always going to get a piles of money. Because that's how they're getting evaluated is. It's the the trust that okay. If these guys are getting trusted in these big minutes then presumably they must deserve it there. We can you know project. Their physical gifts onto our line up and and dismiss any issues that they had with it was their system but it was the the deaths guys. That really kind of surprised me of these guys that you haven't really heard of before or you know you you see them in a third payroll and then. Suddenly they're getting paid is though the these guys that needed to be locked up so that was definitely stretch and it seems like the common defense of it. He typically from fans of the teams that designed he's players is well that's the market. What can you do right. And i always find that to be such a strange argument because at the obvious answer seems to be. What's the what's the rush to design at that market price. Then like if that's the case just just hang out go on vacation for a couple of days Wait for it to change. The market always changes for better. For worse. there will be better buying opportunities at some point. You don't need to build your team for tober. Thirteenth on opening night or whatever it is in july on july twenty twenty seven twenty eight th whatever it is today. I've lost track of the days but you basically like you just admitting all right well other people. My friends are making mistakes. So i'm just gonna make mistakes too because hey whatever everyone's doing it's kind of fit in it. It's so bizarre kind of such an ass backwards logic especially in a competitive setting like the nhl in a hard cap system where you really can't afford to make dumb mistakes on the depth players like this and teams just time and time again basically others doing it and they all.

"Top. Three, goalie added to the mix. I'll send you in contention. So, it's fascinating to see what the Kraken do because they can go on a whole bunch of different directions if they want to like, load up and take on a bunch of contracts and compete right away. Probably can I think I think Donald usage in? Atlantic ran like the team with like the best possible players through his his a you know simulation he does every year and I think he had them finishing second in the west where like a hundred and five points so they could come back. Right away, but there's also people who make the argument like, why not, you know, get tradable assets, get, you know, build for the future because if they start off kind of rough, like we expect most wage teams to do, 20, 22, 23, have some loaded, have some loaded draft classes. Like, if they, if they stink the first few years and they get a gallon of a dad in 2023 or Shane red 2022, you've got a franchise guy that you can build, you know, for the future. So, again, it's kind of a tougher to pitch though. When you look at how good of a game that was Pitch, like, what give us a year or two of being out? Shocking. And we'll go from there, but we I imagine they're going to find kind of told that line like if a guy like Tarasenko or everleigh or off. Josh Bailey's around honestly you can't take them, but you also can mix it in with instead of maybe getting a guy like, you know, need a writer. You gotta go like, Jake, be like a younger guy that you hope kind of becomes kind of a Theodore became Vegas, right? Like a young defenseman, who seems like he's got, you know, on the upswing just didn't get a chance and a sudden, Theodore's a legit top, pairing guy for Vegas now. So I wouldn't, I don't think they need to take price, especially, I think that injury is what changes most of it. But they're still going to feel a competitive team. I think, I think it's so tough to pitch building. When you've had all this hype, you've got all these players available to take and you've got space to take it. And again, which people say, you know, they shouldn't load up to the top of the cap. Got going to be a 81 and 1/2 million, you know, for five years down the road, so they gotta make some moves. Yeah. Also the office released that are available, you know, you have, you have kept poking, you have you know you have a dragger in Florida, like you have better cheaper, you know, younger options that you could go with. If you take advantage, check if you want to do that from from Washington. You know, I know Ben Bishop's had some injury history but he's solid enough and that I've blanking on the amount of money he makes correct..

"I think, you know, as much as people think you have to be flipped the entire Blue Line, you can still have a talented playmaker, kind of leading the charge, right? You can have a surrogate, you ever granted a bigger guy but you can have like a Grizzly lake or someone in there. But if you add multiple players like that to the D chord, then it starts getting a little bit dicey, right? So I think if you keep cruising guys, that playmaking guy who obviously got a guy with Maca, what was an even-strength monster in terms of his production? You've got enough, playmaking back there that if you you know, at a guy like hoc ba khong a bit limited a guy like McCabe who may not be a 20-point guy as a defenseman but he's you know, play stuff, you know, can drop skaters, you know, if he's healthy. He's a very good defensive player. Add those guys as a way to give that D core. Bit of a different look. All sudden you're in business, right? So it'd be tough, if, you know, if if you let Riley walk, you don't really add anything. Replace them. If you go with another lausanne or what-have-you, then it gets a little bit dicey. But if you place them with the Galaxy shooter who's drastically different, but fit to need that this team needs, then I think I'm there for it cuz I think also with Riley should get probably around the same thing, right 3 and 1/2 4 million. And again he deserves it, just don't know if Boston if they're really augmenting. Their Decor wants to team. That does that exactly. I'm with Suiter page again. Nothing is Riley, deserves the money, but you have a smaller left shot, puck-moving defenseman. You don't need another like your finest one and I know some people want more offense out of the D but I can help with that and Mac version to be older critics have the older like you will get some obviously tried to replace Torey Krug. They really technically never did but I don't know if I am, I think you need a bigger guy rather than Mike Riley who again, it's fine..

"You're just hoping he produced a little bit more but you see some of these other contracts around the league that people are just leaving exposed because they know that I mean look at that. Predators would you Shane and Johansson and look at the Sabres with Skinner and and price even I mean just look around the league and the amount of them are all contracts, henrica's. Another like there's so many and I think birth That should be kind of, you know, you can get on swinging for drafting. I've done enough of that. For sure we have certainly kind of beat the horse on that but the one thing that's one of the things we need has been incredibly good at is signing guys, you know and signing guys that are currently on the roster. So that's why it was a pretty standard list of people that you protected and you're not going to lose anything crazy in the, in the draft. So wage. I think again, that's a good thing. That's one thing Sweeney's done, pretty damn well, is that he's not one of these teams who has to expose a bad contract or try to do anything. I mean, look at the, the Andrew Ladd trade. I'll add the 2 seconds and a third for nothing. Just nothing. That's I think that's your someone tweeted today. Actually, or Monday between you know, this trade needs more hype. Like this is hilarious. And it's true, like that. That's something that like hockey, Twitter needs to really just come with all the jokes for sink its teeth. Completely into another interesting, tidbit out there. Right now, Elliott Friedman, reported, lots of expectation boss. Going hard for Ryan Suter, One Source, called him, the Corey Perry of twenty Twenty-One twenty-two, I would expect actually more from sooner than I would have Harry in the sense that I would expect you to be a top-four defenseman, I would not expect him to be a top-six forward. We both are in agreement that they should go for Suitor. It feels like this is maybe going to happen. Yeah, I mean it it makes plenty of sense for the break and I think they're going to be right in the mix of it. You have to factor other guys like or other teams rather, you know, Colorado I've heard what you mean there. They need their own kind of issues right now with with landeskog but I heard like the blues were team in the mix there. But you meant though, the Bruins needs and what they could use on that defense and how sooner if it's kind of their window, especially, you know, it's not like, he's like, I have to pay a premium for, I mean, he's kind of near the end of his his career, but he's still a player that you look at what the Bruins, need a job. Feeding veteran guy, you know, has some offensive Acumen which they need especially at even-strength, you know, the very least, you know, it's we've talked about it before and it's kind of simplifying it but this need a guy that get point shots Thursday, like maybe I don't really have that on their on their team as much as You've Got Talented Playmakers, like the grizzly, got a Mac but usually a guy who can fire and slap shots that, like, you know, you don't have it in your repertoire so dead. Yeah. If you're the Bruins makes plenty of sense, you don't imagine. It's going to break the bank. Like if they sign if the Bruins happened to sign him, you.

"Just to get them on board because as we said before, the Bruins are in this kind of one to two year window. So if you took all the hall, you saw, you know at the end of the regular season last year, for the next 1/2 years and he still becomes at the very least, a solid middle six Winger for the other, you know, 4 ish years. His contract, think it's worth the price, right? And with the, the risk, if you want to call that, I would even call it a risk. It's not like it's a terrorist Cinco contract where it's seven and a half million. A big pay out right now. And I'll see you don't know what you're going to get odds are, you know, he's probably going to be a very, very good asset for this team. You know, if you put them with, let's say, even if it's just crazy and Smith again, none of the Run possibilities, a Thursday, or next year, right? So I think I'm sure the Bruins brother had to be four or five years, but if that's what it takes to get him on board, and this is a place that he's already mentioned that he wants to be going forward in his career wage. I think you kind of bite the bullet and take that term. Exactly. It's also a maximizing the window again, as you said, like, you know, this first of all to tradable contract, but also, you don't have a ton of young Talent, they even have a nice day out the ass for, in the upcoming years. You're not like the Rangers who for some reason, right now are going to give Barclay Goodrow a six year. 3.5 million dollar, annual average annual value contract. Well, you have potentially offering ye Kaho Fox Lindgren. All these guys to pay down the line and you're going to allocate the money to Google for six years. That's a, that's an insane, dog. Yeah, it's a group is nuts for a bottom-six forward. Yes, that is as bad, a contract as I think I've seen in a long time, good, by the way, good Fork restaurant. This ain't good. Response is like good for him for securing the bag phone but can't see what? Wait to see what Coleman get. That's the other thing. That's, that's, that's the market and getting the market. Miro heiskanen gets eight years, eight point four or five million per, I believe. Yes, I would like to say this Charlie mcavoy's up next offseason, I would project he's probably going to at least ask for more than that..

"And we're here with Conor Ryan, Conner, woke up, Evan doing well. How you doing? I'm doing well, you're in Washington right now right we're on other sides of the country. The moment. Yes. That the magic of Zoom. Yes. I've been acquired by the Seattle crack. And the how's the trip? It's been fantastic. Yeah we went we stopped over in Las Vegas for a few days on the way over and that was a balmy, a hundred and ten degrees. So coming up to Washington right now, it is seventy degrees and it's not raining out here that it's raining quite a bit over in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. So we've lucked out quite a bit. You've missed nothing weather wise. It is the same old crap. Whether that you left and you're hitting all the expansion places. You hit the golden knights. Now you're with the Kraken. So you're just in the mall, you're hitting them all. But anyways, it's a lot to discuss in the land of the Bruins this week Thursday. Fun. Not often. During the off-season that you get so much in a week, we'll start here because obviously tonight is the expansion draft, the crack. And we'll, we'll walk ins some, some teams per se build their own. The Bruins will not be one of those teams that are going to be ruined from the pic that they will take. Most likely Connor Clifton, it feels like and we can get that later. I want to discuss maybe some other people, you know. Should they take care eprice? What the deal is with that but we'll start here now that the Bruins have their protection list and zero surprised on what they do. I think we both kind of guessed that list wasn't hard to Guess that list Taylor Hall, a lot of stuff has been circulating about the negotiations between them and the Bruins, whether other teams get in on them, how close the Bruins and the Ann Taylor Hall are to a deal. Now, obviously, we did not think that a deal is going to be reached before the draft, that would be done..

"Back to the Bruins beat on C, L & S media. My name is Evan Mera. You have a great day great week, just having a good time, just having a good old summertime. Anyways, this episode had a lot, Ryan and I got into a lot over the Taylor Hall negotiations. What we're hearing what's being said, what's being reported off? We think they should do then we get into Ryan Suter, Elliott Friedman reporting that the Bruins and Suitor are heavily linked by a lot of different people. And you know last week I poke the bear. We both said that we wanted that to happen and now it seems like it's actually coming to fruition. So we get into why that's a good thing and what that holds for the Bruins, what soutter could get, what the market will be like for Suitor. And then we get into the draft, the crack and draft, which I think is The potential to be very interesting. Given the amount of players amount of good players who are available. I think with the Bruins, it's pretty obvious who the crack and we'll pick or, you know, there's two players, I think that that's pretty much a given that they're going to take. But around the league. It's very interesting Carey Price, Mark Giordano, Vladimir Tarasenko. So, we get into that sort of what direction, the crack take, you know, do they go for young guys with potential to they go for win now, and get the best possible player from each each team, regardless of contract. So we get into that previewing, that kind of getting said that which again should be very, very interesting on on how that all plays out. So before we get to the episode that online is still the fastest. And easiest way to bet on all your Sports Action baseball, season is in full swing way. You could track all the action at online, called latest news, odds and info for all your sporting needs. Whether it be the MLB, you want to do some NBA stuff. "Think seattle be done to take him. I mean his rights you can take his rights and negotiate with them for a week but his usa rights expire. I believe like a week after the expansion draft. So i mean you're really. You're really selecting a week. Alexi ex rights and if you don't sign them then you just selected the guy this could be any roster but One got actually keep an eye on That hasn't been talked about aspirin. Adam yeah he was third in the last year and goals scored top ten in points If seattle's looking for kind of a young prospect local guy that kind of potentially build up To build up into the roster. I think masher and could actually get a serious look from from seattle If they elect not to go a goalie. I think it actually comes down to master dickinson at that point. All right I think this is a perfect time to segue into our next news. Bit because Fernando has asking a good question. I want to get to question here in a second but Second news bit. We're gonna talk about Something stupider in my opinion than what the stars did Minnesota wild have bought out. Not only not only is that crews may but he also bought out Ryan suter and If you go in like a cat friendly and you look at the amount of hits that's going to be on this team Not this season but next season and the following two seasons the cap it from both of those guys. It's absolutely ridiculous. My original thoughts were okay. I can kind of understands that day. A little bit just because his play has diminished but ryan. Suter ryan suter. He's not he's not ryan suter from nine years ago. I understand that. "50 Travis Yost from TSN just to fill this out a little bit more, Travis. How did you see what Minnesota did, like? Can that just be looked at in a vacuum and they're those guys. It was going to come some day, so they're just moving on, or do you think it's setting themselves up for something else? I think I I think there's truth probably devolved. And here's why, Um, Teresa. It was already on the Parisse was on the fridge of buyout status already. And there was a throne con argument to that and again, I think that in and of itself as a legitimate discussion But To the extent that was a discussion. I never expected them to come off the top of that They were buying out Ryan Suter. Well, what I mean twilight of his career is a kind of like a second paring guy. At this point, but he's still a pretty good player. I do find it almost comical that Ryan Shooter gets bought out a day after Edmonson trains a bunch, you know Caleb Jones third round pick and Flex up to a second. For Duncan Keith. There is no way in the world. I would play Dunkin Keith overran shooter in the lineup right now, and Edmonton had to make that trade and they're now trying to sign out of Martian so they can further complicate her expansion. You're after all, like That part of it is mystifying, but Another reason why I say I think you're correct is they could pre some situation is very interesting because he's in a weird situation where he's not a Super Young rookie, but he really does have the order. He has as much leverage as you could possibly get over an organization. Because he was so good and so dynamic for that team. Um, the talent is there in full display, and it's a pretty Marcel if you're Minnesota to try and short range his contract. Because, you know, he might be one of the few instances where the cage was not necessarily a booking. I mean, we saw the delayed timing of him even coming over to the NHL in the first place and You know to me if you're a player, I mean, you're negotiating the contract. You just take whatever leverage you can get to create killer. I mean, I think of just Ilya Kovalchuk's entire career. For the most part, like the cage All has never scared away teams and it's on the throw away point. Negotiations like what are going to go play for ST Petersburg? Instead of signing a megadeal here, But he might be an exception to that. So you have to think that they're going to have to carve out some money there. And I also think that they realize like, hey, look like we're going to be a 67 $68 million cap team for the next couple of years with these buyouts on the books. Um, so they're going to have to get creative salary wise to, um, to remain competitive in this window with far less cap. Basically, any team that is not cash poor. Yeah, I mean, they made room they could. They could fit Jack Eichel in now, regardless of what they would send back and I would assume whoever the Sabres trade with they're going to get some contract. That's not desirable back and just have to eat it. Because if you want to get the big prospects, you're gonna have to make the money work but beyond this year Yeah. I mean, they are like, you know, 14 million behind behind the eight ball on the cap, and I don't know how you get Jack Eichel signed Caprice off and then next year and the year after, and the year after, make that work on a team with that much dead money. Well, that's why I think that's why I think yeah, maybe the stars have to align. And then it's your one percenter type of deal. Um, but you know, at 1% of the type of deals happen 1% of the time and we watched Patrik Laine. Get traded for Pierre Luc Dubois, and both of them really did not fit in with the other organization, respectively. Yet both are both at the time of the trader at least right before the trade were considered very, very high end players, and I think by and large, still are right. So these players do get traded. This is not, you know, you had to disenchanted players. Well, in this case, I've already got one in Jack Eichel. I don't know that Caprice obvious, super happy with the way that negotiations is going and you know how you can make the salary work if he's part of the trade. Now, if you're Minnesota mm Value proposition of trading a player that caliber with that much skill who had that much of an impact on my organization. A guy with a serious and we short term injury. History doesn't sound very compelling to me. Um and and, quite frankly, that's the sort of trade where the first piece that goes into the deal. Buffalo has to start considering is this it? Is this the framework of the trade and this is what we're going to get for Jack Eichel. Um, but I think Buffalo would walk away very happy with that. I do think, though it ultimately if you if you are a Sabres fan, I think you know in your and your kind of forecasting. Okay? What can the Rangers offer me? What can Vegas offer me? Just because of how much pressure they're under right now. You know what Cannella offer. You have all these different organizations who are going to some degree with Jack Eichel interests. I think you are absolutely rooting against Caprice off of his contract in Minnesota. Because the wild without him signed and with these buyouts, it's not really clear what direction they can go and they have a pretty competitive roster. You know what we call it A 0.1%. You will. But I that this is something that has only recently popped up as as it tends to be in the NHL. Things are true until they're not and then as soon as something changes Is that true? What happened? Travis? As you said, at the beginning, and you say, often with us, the Sabres have largely the problems they have, and they've had them for a long time, and they're kind of the same problems. Or at least the same causes that go have gone into those problems. But we are loyal to our team and no matter what they do here and no matter what they have done other times, you know that's still our team. And I think I can get into a little bit of a brand new looking super young Sabres team. I'm assuming that Reinhart and or wrist a line and go to Just want to know from you like if you agree with the premise here. Can't I look forward to at least the possibility of a pretty good team in in three years or even to? I mean, isn't that still the NHL? Do you want 1000%?.

"Ching hard hard hitting journalism around here. That's a hey listen no such thing as a dumb question because it leads all this pat on the back this way to go. Hey question though. you're waiting. I'm paul buddy just because it was price related going into the playoffs and giving away his season be honest. Did you think we're gonna see jake out at some point in the playoffs. No like i would gary brice. I always expect that when the games matter most he's gonna show up way. I know how much these opportunities needs. Only talk a couple of years ago about you. Know the reset and rebuild and and having to be kind of a witness to this youth coming up through the teen guys like suzuki cockamamie coffee in drafted. And it's kinda like you know. Run the back. Nine of my career. Do like i need chances to win. And i of course it excites me to see the young players coming. But i wanna see i. I can't imagine there was anyone in native organization was more excited about the guys that birds may added offseason spoke training camp. You looked at his team after going through the going through the practices birth practices training camp. Just said we need here and he was asked pastas after the game. Six win over vegas like you know how unbelievable was is this and he said perfectly believable like he genuinely believes canadians ad and he's a big reason. Why reasonable even i i just. I don't know. I would never bet against this guy in the playoffs ever Another guy is shea weber. I need to ask about and when when you talk about making trades the giant trade with sue ban in him. It's about making your team better a better chance to win the stand. The cop i think no doubt at the time like shea weber defensively of a better chance of winning with him for a little while they're su- bandits and big years in nashville didn't look great. It's flipped around now to where he's playing this mountain. Man hockey playoff hockey is he healthy. Finally is he just more often. What is kind of helped him. Really find his groove again there. I don't think he's healthy at all. There's like game into the playoffs with a busted left-arm household detour stuff in there in probably need surgery. I think he busted his right. One on on ryan reaves. First game of the bega series. And he just he's just like guys an animal you speak to. I did a piece for thousand games. Boca all his defense honors letters. You'll see your ryan suter bench.
