Nagy benches Justin Field for Andy Dalton

"And another team and their actions. That aren't making a whole lot of sense now. Are the chicago bears and head coach matt nagy because this week matt nagy came out and obviously he's in a win or else win or lose your job type of situation in chicago but nagy came out and essentially committed to andy dalton as a starting quarterback this week which is just bonkers especially when in the nfl draft. You traded a future first round. Pick to go up and take justin fields out of ohio state number eleven overall justin field as your future. Even if matt nagy and gm ryan pace. Aren't there certainly hoping that justin fields shows enough. This year this season not just to save their jobs but to position the bears to go back to the again and maybe win a playoff game and show that there can be some promise with this quarterback in that franchise and i think the justin fields has that ability. I think that when you watch him he can make all the throws. He's won a lot of games at ohio state. He's not your typical state quarterback he committed to penn state transferred to d- committed to penn state rather went to georgia faced a lot of adversity in georgia overcame at ohio state. One big games has all the arm strength. has all the accuracy can throw on. The run is mobile. And you're gonna put him on the bench holding a clipboard behind. Andy dalton

"I just found playing the northwestern Damon and wasn't all that impressed. I'm not impressed by a lot of players. Expressing excitement. I mean, of course, they could do that. But my bigger concern is that Ryan Pace, I think is the biggest problem for the Paris is now going to be stuck with us for the next couple of years, because at the end of this year, they're going to say The justice field systems more time to development or how he plays to patrol the judge Ryan Pace. And even if the Bears are terrible this year, they want to get rid of Ryan. Pace. No good. Jim Canada is gonna want to come in. We had a first Huh? We got disconnected there. Well, okay, So you have to understand that even before the pick of Justin Fields yesterday, Ryan Pace and magnetic you probably is gonna be here for another year at the minimum, but mostly, maybe two or three years. Absolutely, just basically base everything that you mean when? When George says all the time. Ryan and Matt are our football. Guys. That means the day they weren't going anywhere anyway. Despite feels being drafted No. One. I didn't hear anyone saying either one of George or Ted say, well for not a playoff team next year. They're out the door, they said. We need to see improvement. Well, that's a pretty broad thing to define. Improvement right. Eight. Nate last year backed into the playoffs, so you go. You know, you have a plus one or two in the win column this year That's improvement. They were going anywhere. So the fact that they were here You had a root for them to do the best job possible yesterday and for them to be allowed to make the big move yesterday, and they were they did, and they were allowed to do the best job Yesterday. We knew the issues with the bears with their finances. We know the issues on the offensive line. We know the issues of a lot of people not being in the same camp of Ryan Pace and mad, Maggie. I totally good. All that Brian gets all that. But the bottom line is is that that does not cloud what the Bears did in the draft. Yesterday..

"Hit us up on Twitter and on instagram and capture a hood. We'll hear from Mike 10 and bomb who's been in the war rooms for the NFL draft. We'll hear from him coming up at 9 35 here on ESPN, 1000 and Brian an opportunity here for the Bears to try to get it right. And what that means is To be able to lock in on a quarterback that can be part of the future. Now, here's the thing we talked about trying to get a quarterback every year doesn't work out that way. The Bears could get a quarterback here in this draft. What That quarterback to me is not about today, but it's about the future. We know that Nick Foles and Andy Dalton are not necessarily about the future, not even about the president. Quite frankly, but they're on the roster. But you gotta have someone in place that you could believe in that you can mold and shape. That way. You're in a good position that you have to look for a quarterback all the time. Yeah. And yet there are some bears fans out there hoping they don't Get a quarterback because they want Ryan Pace fired after losing year, so they just want may be safe so that the covered isn't completely empty for the next GM and head coach coming in here. Again. I can't. I can't be that guy. I gotta root for these two to get it right tonight and get the quarterback and Well, it's tonight or not. I do believe Dan Wieder is correct that you're going to get you're gonna get a quarterback in one of these rounds, and maybe it's not going to excite anybody. If it's not a first round pick But you have to, You know, Ryan paces, talked about drafting a quarterback and perfect world every year, and he's failed to do so other than the failed quarterback, and Mitch travesty So we want to get your thoughts about what do you think the Bears are going to do? Will they get it? Right? 312332? ESPN is our phone number. You and I get to talk to Dan Orlovsky yesterday and ultimately you talk about the fans, right, Brian? So the question that was posed is why should we trust the bears to be able to get this right trying to get the bears in the right direction? You should it You shouldn't. But at the end of the day they're there in those roles. At the end of the day. They're the guys that are going to be making these selections. Okay, so whether they have a high level of trust or not, Means nothing. At the end of the day. These guys are on the positions where they're going to make the selection and as a bear span, you have to hope for two things, one that they take one in two. That they can develop one finally, but they can develop one finally, and that's going to be a big Got a piece of this puzzle. I don't believe that, mister Frisky was this guy that I have said this That wasn't talented enough to go be a player in the NFL that spot. I don't believe that I think that Chicago never attacked his long Never attacked his weakness. I've been on with cap For three years now talking about this, and there were moments when, like, Okay, you get past it. That's what the challenge if they take a quarterback is going to be well, Matt, Maggie and Ryan Pace Sit there and go. We get attacked These flaws. We're gonna have a very short period of time to do it right, very short period of time to do it. But if they take one of those guys that has super talent. Also a variance of weakness, that variance of law. They're gonna have to make sure that they identify it and then figure out a way to minimize it, especially if they're going to play them early on. Ryan. You feel like the bears gonna go up here in the first round and get the quarterback? Or at least one the quarterbacks that they want, right? Yeah, And I couldn't have agreed with Dan. More than what he just said you. You've gotta be rooting that they get it right. And and they get the home run quarterback here, whether whether his throat out there and played the first nap of the season, I wouldn't mind that at all. I find that more entertaining than your Vandy Dalton. But more likely they'll draft a guy. They'll jump up and get the guy they wanted The guy left of the top five and they'll tell him TOC, sit back for a year and observe and take snaps and we'll see you in 2022. I believe that the Bears are not going to have a quarterback in the first round, unless it's someone that falls to the mid 20. I don't think they're going to try, but we've heard a lot of the effort, right. You know, there's a difference between No activity in accomplishment. I think that Ryan Pace is on the phone trying to get up there. But it just some of these teams were just trying to do the math and take a look at team needs. Brian and I just I just look at it is like the lines will not deal with the Bears in division. If they do, they're dumb. Yeah, I agree with you can make a case for either team wanting to deal in the perfect world because someone's gonna lose that deal. Have to live with it in the division. So I think that I think the Bears will eventually draft a quarterback. It may not be who they want, but you're gonna have to because you got to think about the future. That's just that's just doing due diligence and understanding the game. And so when I look out, it's not gonna be first round look at second round quarterbacks. And so some of the best second round quarterbacks that we've seen the league without bread far was a second round quarterback on even when he first came out is you remember the NFL films Mike Holmgren wanted, you know, want to kill him? Wasn't Yeah, that was early. Yeah, there was remember the film. Where is like home? We want to get him out of like, No, no. I mean, I know it's just how many interceptions Heathrow in the first year crazy when what they I mean, they traded to get him from Atlanta, right where he was doing nothing right? And but he came up there and he more likely than not was gonna throw to the team wearing the other uniform. Drew Brees was a second round quarterback. So is Derrick Karr. Needed very still out on Derek are just so far. Ah Boomer science and was second round quarterback. There are some some diamonds there and, by the way, the aforementioned Andy Dalton, also the second round quarterback with the Bangles. So there's some that are good and some, you know, and not so good. Also in the third round, you take a look at that as well. If you're looking for a quarterback to the third round, the list is thin. Brian when it comes to their around quarterbacks, um you remember Bobby Layne, member and 48 Was that like to cover him? Yeah. Yeah, And you know you just because this league is so offensive centric and every rule changes about points and get more points on the board. Last year, the NFL sent out a memo to the referees and officials which really wasn't well publicized, remember? Yeah, who did a huge story on it?.

"First time podcast. Guest longtime listener mark silverman. Espn one thousand co host of waddle and silvy two to six every day on espn. One thousand. I am going to go and i had a list the other day on the show of seventeen quarterbacks who could be hat or who could be on the move and out of all of those if i have to pick one. I'm going to go jimmy garoppolo. I believe san francisco's in a position. Right now where they have a really good thing going and they want to replace jimi g. since he's been injury prone i think you can get jimmy g. for cheaper than he's been whether he's caught you could sign up for cheaper free agent deal. He may want to go back to new england. Maybe bella jack doesn't want him but ryan pace eastern illinois guy also Fellow good-looking guy. Just like with trubisky could veer that way as well. So i'm going jimmy g. And as a close second maybe gruden gets rid of derek carr and the bears would trade for garrett car but those are my two if you force me to pick one. I'm going with jimmy garoppolo.

"From George McCaskey, Ted Phillips, Ryan Pace or even Matt Maggie. I feel like there were a lot of questions that we all had. Don't think that we got answers that we wanted. Don't we really didn't get answered. We wanted we got answers. Sure. I didn't say we didn't get answers. We got answers. They're just answers We didn't want And and that as a bears fan, knowing that the front office is not changing. Everyone's coming back. Everything's the same Now we're heading into next season, cap. Hell Cap space hell! We don't have a quarterback. What are we going to do? With the quarterback position. We're not drafting in the top 10. We have so many questions that need to be answered. Do you trust Ryan paste? You trust Matt? Maggie, get the most out of this team to get us back to a place where we're competing for championships. I do not think that those are the guys and I don't think that George McCaskey and Ted Phillips are the two guys who can make the judgment that those are the guys. From what I heard from them is they were very impressed. Very impressed by by the little log. I'll point by the offense at the end of the season gets bad teams. Trash teams very impressed George McCaskey that very impressed the way I've done all this team stuck together. Six games They lost in a row. But guess what? They're a team, and they stuck together this team they stuck together, and that means everyone gets to stay because you're stuck together. You didn't pull it, James Harden and ask for out of town. Even though one of your players at the start of the season asked for a trade request, your best offensive player wanted out. But let's ignore that. This team stuck together through six games. How about that bears fans? What do you think about that? Well, I think that, uh, yeah, They know. One quit. They stay. They're getting paid to do their jobs. They did their jobs. But basically if you listen to this press conference today, 1st 45 minutes. Woz George McCaskey. And Ted Phillips, CEO. President, whatever he calls himself. And basically this was a When they were asked. Why do you think Matt Naggy and Ryan Pace are the guy's toe lead? You Into the next few years. I don't know how long they're going to be around because we don't know how long their contracts are up for. We don't know if they got extensions or if they were still on on one year deals or two year deals or whatever it is, but basically George McCaskey said to you. Bears fans. When he was asked. Why do you think these guys are the two to lead the team into the future to select the next quarterback to build to try to get back to the playoffs? And I don't know, maybe win a playoff game? He basically said, because I said, so. That's why He basically pulled the This is my team. I'm a McCaskey. That's why And guess who answered who I answer to. The board, which was a bunch of other McCaskey's You know? So to me, this was a slap in the face. To bears fans. This is a slap in the face to season ticket holders. This is a slap in the face to anybody that bought a jersey to anybody that watches these games, hoping for the best, Even the truth. There's all of you. Those were all bears fans. We all want this team to succeed and just have these guys making this decision. I don't know what I don't know is it is it may be going from 28 to 2016 yards per game. Is it going from 27th 27th no progression in yards per play. How about this in third down conversion percentage bottom of the barrel from 2019. The 2020 30 seconds. There's literally nowhere to go but up and they couldn't even go up. Well, they might go up next year. They're only Michael of next year, they might go up next year. How about this for in 2019 and 2023 11 verses teams that made the playoffs. Not the cool band that made come original know the record three and 11, 3 and 11 against playoff teams. That's not competing. Great. You beat the Vikings twice in 2019 Cool. Oh, here's the contract. Awesome. I'm gonna pick another quarterback. It's ridiculous. Ridiculous. It's so frustrating as a bears fan. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for season ticket holders. I can't imagine how frustrated is for everybody that has a bear's den in their home for everybody that spends their afternoons 3.5 hours of your hard earned afternoons. On Sundays watching this team. Just the continued mediocrity continued mediocrity, and that's what you're gonna get for another God only knows how long because we don't know how long these contracts are. Could be just a year could be two years. Hey, who knows? Maybe they'll go five and one to start the season. And guess what they'll get extensions again extensions off of the first engines first half of the season. Maybe because you know what's gonna happen. They'll go five and one, Chris, and then they'll don't. They'll come together during a six game losing streak again? Yeah, because you know, George is very impressed by the numbers put up off. Sensibly against bad teams in the National Football League and sticking together through a six game losing streak. That's fantastic. Yes, How about that? It's absolute. Yes. 3123323776 Black McDonnell on early. We had Notre Dame basketball earlier today, waterline. So will you be back tomorrow at two o'clock right here on ESPN 1000. So we want to talk to you. The Bears fan 3123323776. What's your feelings after hearing from George McCaskey, Ted Phillips, Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy earlier today, in case you missed it. Here's George McCaskey on Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy on both of them coming back to the Bears for 2021. Brian, the man are men of character. They're both like Ted. Outstanding leaders. I've been most impressed with how well they collaborate. Was impressed with both of them this past season, especially during the six game losing streak. The fact that our players never gave up is a tribute to the players. It is also indicative of the type of players that Ryan acquires. Into the players regard for Matt as their head coach. Like Ted and I Ryan and Matt to have vigorous discussions. In the end. All four of us want what's best for the Bears? Are no egos. There are no other agendas. Have mistake's been made. Yes..

Bears plan to keep Nagy, GM Pace for at least 1 more season

"The Bears are keeping coach Mad Maggie and GM Ryan pace for another year. The team confirmed it this morning, Chairman George McCaskey saying Maggie and pace are growing in their roles, though he said neither received a contract extension. They also acknowledge the Bears need more production from the quarterback position, but did not go into specifics.

Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020

"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.

"For one, the Bears defensive coordinator is retiring. But the bigger news from now multiple sources of bread Biggs the trip had it first. The rumor flying around the NFL right now is that the Bears will retain general Manager Ryan Pace and head coach Mad Maggie into 2021. That's what folks working in the league have heard. We'll see if the team is something this evening, but that is the chatter that is out there right now. I don't think any of that is surprising, Hamp, but it doesn't exactly feel great to hear all at the same time. No, it

"To your text, Tucker says. It doesn't matter, meaning it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Who the Broncos higher is general manager. Elway is still going to be calling the shots, Wait and see. I agree. I'm just saying because they're going to do this. They're gonna hire Champ Kelly, and they're going to say we got our guy and this is our guy and look at her guy. And this is the right guy. And I'm just telling you He's not even The best candidate on paper, in my opinion. But the next time John Elway takes my advice will be the first time. Steve talk about the Browns Chicago franchises in a very bad spot, No QB and they're in a bad spot in the draft. Trading up for Mitch. That's a double fo. Yeah, he traded up. And look is champ Kelly. In charge of the draft board. Now. Ryan Pace Ryan pays traded up, Okay, and it's ultimately Ryan paces decision. Hey, but Did Ryan Pace go rogue here or did his scouting department Which champ Kelly is a part of say this Mitchell Travis Key guy. He's the real deal. Maybe I'm completely mischaracterizing him. Maybe someone asked him about it when he's introduced, and he's like I had nothing do with Mitchell Strabinsky. And then I will say Okay, maybe Champ Kelly is not that bad. But I still I still look at if you're trying to sell fans On the idea. That a change is coming a real change. Somebody that's going to come in with a fresh set of eyes and evaluate everybody fairly and objectively. Hiring somebody. And one of the main reasons it looks like you're hiring him is because he used to work for John Elway and he worked with Vic Fangio. That's not good. And maybe that's a disservice that the Bronco friendly media up in Denver has perpetuated and that's not fair to champ Kelly. Because Camp Kelly's up for other jobs. But if I'm on Carolina radio if I'm on Atlanta radio, if I'm on whatever other the four other places they're looking for, Jim's right now, Jacksonville I'd be saying the same thing. Mitchell trip Risky is the draft albatross of our time. Because not only is he a bust Two of the guys after him are Hall of Famers. Speaking of one of those guys, so, apparently to Shawn wants and wants to go to Miami. You guys see that report over the weekend or he'd be open. Going, my always I mean, I'm open to it. Diego. We want to go. You don't want to go. Which it also thanks to Shawn Watson for doing tool like that. Who had just got to Miami And now did Sean wants is like I want to go there. Look that being said If I'm Miami, I do that deal. And I love to a you guys know that I'm a big to a fan. For where the Dolphins are right now. One win away from making it to the postseason with that defense with Brian Flores. Needs a more weapons on the offensive side, but You had to Shawn wants into that mix. Maybe the report made me think of draft day because you know the Dolphins hold all the Texans picks right from the Laramie Tunsil deal. Do you see? Uh, kiss area Nick Kiss area, the new GM in in Houston. I don't want my picks back. I want all of them. All of my picks back and I went David G D in Putney, because I feel like it. So we'll see. It was not good. It's not good that destroying wants him. Once out just after signing extension. I don't like it, and I don't think that he's being You know, criticized enough. If this is true, and I'm acknowledging to maybe this is here, saying conjecture, But if it's true, and if the Sean wants him forces with way out, it's bad look, and it's a bad president. And some we haven't seen. We see it all the time in the MBA, right? You don't so much seeing in the NFL. I don't think it's good if you are a free agent, which to Shawn wants in could have been Exercise your right given by handed down to you by Curt Flood. And be a free agent and choose where you go. Don't sign the extension. And then immediately want out. If I'm Miami, I do that deal. I absolutely do that deal. Now two in the third pick, Probably not. You want to get like a second round pick back and we'll give you two it along with it then, okay? We can talk. 5 to 29872. "If The general manager Ryan Pace, and Matt Maggie might have been out of jobs had they not 13 of their last four in the regular season to get into the playoffs. Don't know if that was good for them a bad for them. 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Evan is in Florida. Welcome to after hours. Amy Luminous. Wow. What a great What a great opportunity to be in your presence on the telephone. How were you? First and foremost your insurance? Absolutely fantastic. Thank you, sir. I'm good. All right, I buttered you up enough. I have to questions and, uh, two of two statements in the question. Um, the number one statement is a legit legit statement. The other one's a little bit more of a conspiracy theory. The first one is with Cam Newton. He lost the last seven games. I believe this season and 20, maybe 17 and going into 2019. Whatever it is. He lost the last the last of his time with the Panthers. He lost nine games in a row before he was replaced. And it we're looking at Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger seems to be headed towards the same type of trajectory of if he even gets the chance to lose nine games, because right now, I believe it's like I've I mean, and the other thing is, is the state's game and I want to hear your take on that, obviously, and then the same game. That touched them at the end of the game. That was those Jimmy Graham. They didn't kick the extra point and for people that were betting on that game That on that point spread was from 10 to 11. And they kicked that extra point. We're talking about a push. So that was a very potentially expensive extra point. And we please actually produce about that. I have to hang up and just put me on mute so I could listen to you. Yeah, I'm sure he can hear you. Thanks, Evan for the phone call s so I don't know anything about betting line, So I'll leave that to you. Um, but But I will say this about about what you started with, which was quarterback wins and losses. I actually hate that stat. I think it's ridiculous. The the quarterback does not win and lose games all by himself. With Cam Newton. There were big time injuries, obviously, before the Panthers not only put him on I R and put it on the shelf for the rest of the way. But then Ron Rivera got comfortable with Kyle Allen and decided that he wouldn't go back to T O Cam Newton. Maybe because they already knew that the Panthers were going toe look a different direction, and obviously, Ron Rivera lost his job before they became his decision. As for Ben, Rafa's burger, this team started out 11 and Oh, and I don't I'm not saying he's completely absolved of any responsibility and he would tell you he takes on the blame himself. But this isn't all on Rafa's burger. They had zero run game and I mean, zero run game to speak of. None on so he was setting a playoff record for most pass attempts and most completions on I know they were behind, so it's a little bit of a different game, but that's what they've been doing all season long is nothing but passing the ball, passing the ball. Passing. The ball is too much to ask for an older quarterback, and it's not a balanced offense. It all and it makes it a lot easier for defense is to game plan against so they need to shore up their run game. They obviously need to fix the offensive line, eh? So there's a lot of issues there. I think the defense, isn't it. Spot. But the offense needs an overhaul. And while it may or may not include Rafa's burger, moving forward, I don't think I'm of the opinion that the man can't throw the ball anymore. He passed for 500 yards in this game, so they just need to not have such a lopsided offense. To me. That's the major issue. And then, of course, the turnovers early. You know, the defense got smacked in the mouth, too, though in that first quarter, with Karim Hunt, being able T scored two touchdowns in his first two Times touching the ball, So they got outplayed and out, really outplayed, outcoached and manhandled in every facet of this game early on, and just put themselves in too big of a whole. To come out of. So we're going to talk about the other. A F C North team here is we start the top of the hour. Ravens beating the Titans exacting some revenge. We've got our matchups for a divisional weekend..

"Get down there and from a left four more. It's ridiculous guys. There's a reason why the Patriots have seven or six. Whatever they have they cheat. I know that, but How about our Met The Jets remember Brown term that the Bears are poorly managed. Ryan Pace has hit 10,000 times less than he's made when it comes to draft picks. That Maggie is trust woman as far as I'm concerned, and at the end of the day, this town is a bear's town. The Hawks won three titles. It's still a very sound. I hear you tell one Wait. We got a runner up against it. But thank you for the call. We appreciate it like Um, you want to go all the way to the top? I understand your frustration. Um, you know, the truth is it's their entity and they get to choose to do what they want with it. I do wish that Sometimes the people at the top had a, you know, a little more on I don't want to say that. I don't want to use the word ownership. But, you know, took some ownership over some of the hirings that they made. You know, you hate to see Somebody who owns the team need to go out and find a search firm. You know to be the loot loot liaison to who their next GM and head coach is going to be. You wish when you work in football for as long as the McCaskey's have You wish they had. You know the roll index in their phone to know who they should contact you always. I do always wonder when the team needs a search firm to help them identify who the best candidates are. It's a problem. It's a problem. Yeah, The runners aren't going out finding a search for when they want to hire anybody. Well, they haven't had had to make a lot of hires either, but that's not what you know what There's something to be said for continuity is well. When you've had three coaches, you know, in the history of your franchise on it's proven to be a model of success. You know, it's it's hard to argue with that plan. He's Howard Griffith. "So what the bears being better shape today. If Ryan Pace had not returned the call to the then Oakland Raiders and said, all right I'll give you two number ones, A number three. You give me back to and I'll get Khalil Mack and give him at that time the biggest defense contract in the history of the National Football League The Raiders used the first number one on Josh Jacob's, They were able to restock their depleted talent there actually playing pretty solid football this year. So you could go back to that day. And you could grab Ryan put the phone down. Would you tell him now make the call. Go ahead, make the deal. He's a great player. Our defense is obviously the strength of our football team. But man when you give up multiple number ones in your offensive line we saw last week. New Orleans has To one's a two and they hit a home run in the third round with their tackles one of the five best in the league. Would you tell him Don't make the trade? No, I would tell him to make the trade because you're trying to solidify the offense. I'm sorry, the defense as much as possible, so and here's why you do that, because we have perspective. Yeah, Clear. Mac is a positive on this football team, but you're not giving The monster that we saw with the Raiders and before, so I think about 2018. And so when we're looking at the Bears defense during that time, the cornerstone for the team was came Hicks. They're all Maquis mix a defensive end at that time. Who wouldn't want Eddie Goldman and nose tackle at the time and then you're looking at Danny Trevathan that came in with Fox. If I'm not mistaken, Levi was with Fox first. And now with Matt Maggie. So Trevathan was that at a linebacker position. We were wondering what Leonard Floyd would be. Kyle Fuller was a starter Eddie Jackson was still here. Adrian Amos was that a safety principal tomorrow was a veteran but one of the corners on this football team, But you needed something a little extra and what I thought that and record Smith was a rookie during that year in 2018. So Khalil Mack, I thought would be there to just be the cherry on the sundae to really enhance what the Bears already had defensively, So I still think that that was a great deal. But of course with perspective. Now we take a look at that deal from the as Adam John's rooted in the dot com The ACLU Mac Trey charting the blockbuster Bears Raiders deal. Well, look what the Raiders have done with that deal. They're trying to replenish what's missing with Mac by having a really good running back in Jacob's and others on their football team. 3123323776. Would the Bears organization being better shape today? If Ryan Pace never made the trade for Khalil Mack? I mean, who's you rushing? I still think I would have made the trade. Here's the problem. When they made that trade Mitch, albeit as like, The 100th alternate was coming off a pro bowl. You know, that was the year he was going into the Pro Bowl. They believed that that point That he was the guy. So if Ryan had been right And that was able to get all he wanted out of Mitch. Yeah, make the trade but all of a sudden he paid Bobby Massey and again these didn't over pay them. Or just OK players. They're just they're not Cornerstones of your offensive line like Okay there, middle of the pack in terms of salary Ting. I looked yesterday. Leno, I think is 19th in the league at what he's getting paid at left tackle. But when you don't address your front line, that's fine. Oh, my God. That's so fine. You only when your sample cup in the studio well, because I'm trying to fill it. Toe have full for this game against the Times. I have a reason. No soft. Bernie's book bank dot org's $1.1 dollar There you go. There's that they're in youth, Nick. There's your dollars. But when you miss at left tackle in terms ofthe what you thought he could be you miss at right tackle he's met. You don't have to really good guards because James Daniels is down. I do like him as a player. You haven't seen what you expect out of Anthony Miller. Your play calling is suspect. And you miss wildly at the quarterback spot with Mitchell, Travis Key at number two. I mean, that's that's how you end up losing your job. It doesn't matter what you've done on the defensive side of football. All right, Jeff, so that so you tell us based on what the bears didn't? I guess it was a really good piece by Johns to break it down, because when you make a big a big deal like that, You're hoping to win the deal. This goes back to March 2019. The Raiders traded the 196 selection from the Mac deal. Ford on all Pro guard. Of course, we go back and we take a look at Jacob's running back when you look at that deal was that Ah sound deal for both teams, or did the Bears win the deal? It's like I try and get out of the mind frame of just, you know, examining it from retroactively, But right now, as we're kind of breaking it down, I do feel like The Bears. It was probably a bad move. When all is said and done. I think the Raiders make out better in this. What was it a bad move at the moment they made it like Did you say that then? Or did you have Morva leaf that Wow. That's the cherry on top of the sundae. Defensively. Yeah, Listen, I was excited, and I understood it. The problem is, I think it's you know. It's hard to ignore the air to kind of like, break this deal down in a vacuum. You can't ignore the fact that they had Travis Key in place. And yes, I think the logic Was that was sound in that. OK, Cleo Mac is going to take this defense toe another level where it will be amongst the elite football and we won't and then our young quarterback can develop and the offense Khun grow, but you won't have to rely upon it. The logic was sound. Unfortunately, you know, it always comes back to Mitch..

"Offense continues to get all of our Our conversation going these days. You know the term that JD used, I think is a term that we've all used going back to the 2019 conclusion to the season that offensively it was a cold, a collective failure. Just Q. B wasn't just the coach wasn't just the line together. He's all bad. 18. I always say this was supposed to be like the starting point. It could only get better from 18 18 was just a little bit of Ah. An example of what it could be, and that's the starting point. And then you blossom but instead from 18, it's gone down. What happened on D look, and I want to bring this to your attention because we talked a lot about the Nagy role in this but again what is it again? Collective failure. Is that what you use? Yeah. And sort of what I was talking about with Ryan Pace, where, when the Bears and the Bears will need a quarterback at the end of the season, they trust him. I will not allow him to make the peck and then someone tweeted me and said Sylvie, go over his offensive pecs like maybe they need Like a coaching staff. A defensive draft during an offensive drafter and Ryan Pace, Khun B. The defense of drafter in the late round pick guy. Okay, So go through this exercise with me, All right, not just the quarterback. Let's go through all of his offensive pecs. OK, That's how you build a friend who has you coming in 15. He's 20. He's a new guy in 2015 and do mean I don't know if my system is going to work here. But Put each draft pick on the offensive side in one of four categories. Okay, you could tell me either. He's a bust. He's just a guy. He's good. Or is really a building block like a guy who's going to be around and make a big impact for a while. Building black slash Impact was you could be a building block player, but not be a huge difference. Alright, Cnu. Just so bust guy. Good. And then what, Like pro bowler do you want? What do you want? Yeah, great Consistently above average. Well, that isn't that good. See, now it is not consistently above average. How about like, like a franchise type player? What about what is none of those? Yo, I got a guy, dude, guys just like normal, but it dude is a dude. All right, let's go to this process and will define it as we go along, Okay? All right. So these are all of his offensive Pixar going back from his first draft in 15. His first pick was Kevin White. Okay. What was the lowest but yes. Okay, so there's one Ron Isgur. Sue was drafted in the third round the center. That's got to be considered a Buster's well. Okay. Jeremy Langford. That hat. I don't think he's in a league anymore. I mean, like, Is it a bust? If he's 1/4 round pick that's he writes for almost I think 1000 yards first year said You wanted just calm a guy. He's a guy, okay. You want to do that? Or do you want to call him a bus? You know, I'm not going to say the bus because he was 1/4 pick right guy and he filled the role. OK, Replace okay to heart. What about Now he was 1/6 round pick. So it's ladies a tackled, you know, tie Oh, fabulous. I don't know what you're talking about. But you know what? Jeremy Langford ran for 535 yards. That's it. Run for 1000 yards? No, his first year you're in for 537 Yards averaging 3.6 yards per carry the next year in 2016. He ran for 200 yards. 3.4 hour replaced him. Right. So all right, coach here. Cody White hair is I'm not going. I'm not going to put him in your top category. I'll put him in the building block. I He's good, right? Good, but he's he's consistently above average. I don't think he's a perennial Pro Baller starter. He's not Marshal Yanda is a good starter. He's more than just a guy, right? Yeah, I want him on my team. Jordan Howard He's a guy, Daniel Braverman. Remember, Braverman, remember, we were compared Tio, call 1/7 round pick a bust. Okay, and just just put him under the guy category. Hector Put him in the No factory won't even count. All right. How about miss? Just counted as a miss? Because there are plenty of seven trumpets the do right, right? Okay? Progress Now we're 2 17 cancelled. That's a miss. I mean, he's not. He's a bust. Major Travis Key number two is a bust. He's a bus now. He did not feel even your starter role for the Bears. He was supposed to be a franchise quarterback. I know I don't get it. I'm just saying, though he was your quarterback in 2018. Okay? I'm Adam scene. Now. That's a bigger bust in Mitch. I don't know what you mean Functioned. I mean, you may not like how he function with the second overall pick. I get it, but like Yes. Based on your where you picked him. That's a bust. I'm with you, but like Terry Cohen Easy isn't Geir. Is he good? Kind of in between right now, and I think he's kind of a guy's good, but he's a guy. I put him under a guy Jordan Morgan fifth Round Garden. Miss another mess. That's where you really find lineman to a lot of instances in the later half of the rounds. Are they let her have the draft? Yeah. Now let's go to 18 offensive players. Only James Daniels. Building block. I think we think above Cody Whitehair. What did I have a code? I think him he and Cody are on the same eyes. Good. Cody ahead of James Daniel. I'll still give Ryan this one. I'm Anthony Miller. Like I think he's got such like He's got a lot of talent, but he hasn't been able to put it all together..

"Rankings, the projections for all 32 teams for the next three years? We scroll all the way to the bottom. Who's saying all the Bears have to be at least 20 right now? They were number 31 on the list. And again, it's really about now. It's also about the future. You know the NFL's you will know, self leading. But 31st is, I thought was a little bit. We'll definitely a lot low, but When you read what Louis, Riddick says or with Clinton with field, Yates has to say about the NFL and the spares team the Bears under 2020. With the quarterback competition on their hands as Nick Foles and Mitchell travesty will vie for starting duties. Being ranked this low is a reflection of where the team will probably finish 2020. There's enough reason to think Chicago can hang around for a while. The NFC North with good quarterback play, but a reflection of some recent major decisions made by Ryan Pace, Ryan Pace, handpicked Robiskie and has been heavy handed at times in free agency. Jimmy Graham story will be on the tombstone off Ryan Pace if he can't survive this You love someone is trying to be aggressive, But when you swing and miss, that's the worst, and so that's the whole thing watching the Bears so woman, two pro football focus the NFL team preview. Siri's, They finally got To the Bears. And so There's something that you and I already know right After winning a division title and fielding one of the best offensive performances of the season 2018 the Bears were an obvious risk Russian candidate ah, year ago. That eventually proved true as the bear stumble to have disappointing 18 8 season. So what the document is thie additions and subtractions to the team. And and so when we look at The offense. We already reviewed the defense on one side of the football where they were in the top 10 defensively, and I still believe that coming into the season now when we look at the offense The true biscuit thing is, I mean, I guess I'll give you a little snippet of what they said, like the part of the trouble would predicting quarterback plays, isolating the quarterback's performance with that of their playmakers and Travis Keys, 29 stat regression is a good example. His statue took a big hit while his grade remains static. And given his low level performance in each of the last two years, there was too much risk for the Bears to go into 2020 with him as a starter. Enter Nick Foles, who comes in with caveats on his own. That is true. No folds in 2013 and that season is one of the best stat seasons in history because of Chip Kelly's brand new scheme. But then you started aggression with him in 2014 2015 was a disaster with the Rams when multiple quarterbacks struggled in 17 and 18 he was rejuvenated with the Eagles. And now here he is with the Chicago Bears. So the quarterback situation as it's always been outside of Cutler and McMahon and reclaim our four year it has just never been stabilized. You want winds in the position, but it's never been stabilized enough where you could say That's the guy that you're gonna go with for 10 years. This is what pace thought about Robiskie, calling him to drafting him thinking that he's going to be the guy. For 10 years, So let's take a look at the running back. I heard whispers that there were question marks about David Montgomery run the football for the Bears. And I don't know what those question marks are when you have issues with the offensive line. And I think that we see a rookie third rounder Andy of Montgomery, he was the lead back. He finished with a 65.3% Russian grade and just 3.7 yards per attempt. Now. When he was in college, he was a broken tackle machine. And he showed some prowess of that. What, 47 force miss tackles last year, but it didn't translate into rushing production. You know why? Because Nagy did not want to run the football enough. And I still I still don't know the disconnect between Nagy and Montgomery as faras here, maybe seeing some from Montgomery where he felt that well, maybe he can't be a down and down out back me up. I'm a little I'm not looking for 1987 when it comes to running the football, you know, that's not the NFL today unless his Tennessee that's that NFL today a guy run the football time and time and time again. That's not what I'm looking for. And I think that the smart bear fan also looks at the same way like you just want Montgomery to be ill. Be a threat and help to Travis Kia. My God, Tell me this over the phone lines Show on 312332 ESPN. 3323776 Artful, nor do I have that right? If you're a bears fan, and you're listening to me and you instead of nodding you could call me and tell me if I'm right when we talk about the running game. What the bears right? You just want him to be able to be an option for Travis Key? I know the smart Bears fan is not looking for him to be between the tackles and three yards and caught a dust. There's so many ways to use the running back now that If Montgomery has better hands Then George Howard. Then why can't you use Montgomery? More so out in the flat for him to be able Get your orders that way. I hope I'm reading that right because I just believe that Montgomery Had a hard time with this offensive line. Tariq Owen is a versatile option. But just he's not a guy that's going to be a down and down out back either..

"Radio Brady of course not the only quarterback who's on the move this week Evers teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota and now Nick Foles balls is heading to Chicago the bears pulling off a trade with Jacksonville Chicago gives up a compensatory fourth round pick in return for getting Nick Foles so what happens now in Chicago here's our Mike Tannenbaum and feel gates there's a restart because in in our last show we had a debate about whether we think this is Nick Foles job immediately or whether we think this is competition to pursue the starting job and he admits will battle it out during offseason workouts if we have them and then eventually during training camp if that goes on as scheduled I look at it like this the bears were settling if they stuck surface did that with Mitch Trubisky yep the rosters to well fortified in too many spots and there were too many obvious concerns and trade you're right right pace may forever have to live with the idea that he took Mitch Trubisky ten slots ahead of Patrick Mahomes and deshaun Watson we get and traded up one of the first round pick to move up one slot to get him really I'm just gonna put but it's over it's done with that I've been two thousand and seventeen fun ways to win football games and salvage I mean it and we talk about this during lunch again the like you know Matt Ryan pays to be feeling the heat a little bit right now right he knows he's got to win this year and this division is not a cake walk you've got a good Vikings team made the playoffs last year an actual Packers team within its energy efficient game last year this is not an all in move but this is a movie you have to make to put yourself back in the mix to be competitive and allow yourself to playing January football Soldier Field again they had to make so I had to make a move etrade you said what is it on the play calling which basically was a three year starter they had one winning season when I was at the Dauphin two years ago were playing against him we want him to throw the ball down the field to the left he couldn't do that he he was thirtieth in the league in average yards per attempt that's a critical statistic that compresses the field and the other thing about Ryan pace the fields point which is your locker room keeps your general manager there is a check and balance they have a championship defense to Ryan pace's credit he could walk into that locker so he felt we could go win with Mitch Trubisky after we have three years of a sample set now you walk and say Hey this guy's won a Super Bowl we have a real chance now it injects energy into that whole program it also has three years left on the contract with twenty one million guaranteed the falls also has the ability now to avoid the deal after either of the first two years in Chicago depending on his

"It is a leap day we have one of these every four years but you know it's always a daily conversation in the great city of Chicago Brian the bears and the bears quarterback position all yeah neverdie can never have too much bears quarterback conversation unfortunately that means you usually don't have a quarterback yeah it's been a theme for as long as I can remember even when Jay Cutler was under center and you thought you had it's that solved it never led to that and after Ryan pace made the bold move of trading up for Mitch Trubisky we now sits four years later wondering what is the next move by the bears GM and we may have gotten a little bit of news yesterday that could be revealing his hands they are a great report coming out of Cincinnati and and people connecting dots but then Ryan pace say down in Indianapolis that Hey you know Mitch is our guy we're not we're not in that market he did and you have to wonder because he's been forthright I guess the one thing he's been forthright about at the combine is that it's not a time of the year when he likes to be very honest but it what is lying season in the NFL Jeff we all know that if a GM's lips are moving normally they're lying but yeah I still believe that I believe that he has full faith and confidence in the guy they gave up four runs four picks to move up one slot to get and now has to defend on a daily basis that is the question so he has himself in a position now to after last season with Trubisky's play where you're wondering okay maybe does have full confidence because of whatever he saw when he scouted him is it me you know I guess as a GM you have to wonder or as a fan of watching the GM you wonder is this is he capable of self scouting Mitch Trubisky and and and how many different ways to that did you get asked the question on Tuesday very trade ways well you know what the new staff that you have certainly they evaluated match when they were with other teams what you're what what real talks visit both men again and Ryan pace talked about self scouting in what you do in the off season and how the honest conversations take place not only with the players but among the coaches were you have to realize who you are and and what you want to be and you wonder if he heard a negative word from some of the new guys on the on the staff as Brian just pointed out Ryan pace did speak with the media on Tuesday this is Ryan pace talking about Mitch Trubisky we believe that we believe in the players will be really.

"Is incapable of seeing it the way he used to be able to see it and while Ryan pace certainly isn't my favorite I'm still still be active head nine top ten pick he found one of Mr on one all the rest were homers the one this time now ours we all the whole marketing is not even a double yeah the bond tell you know I feel alright field single Laurie he's not a why then why and here's my point he would pass Mehrestan one which would tie responded he played three years for the ball and it was still a ton of questions on this guy's got a lot of talent that Charlotte wanted a bad so different than that what impact do we traded a friend that was how many years ago and there's the difference that when Ryan pace on opportunity in Khalil Mack he got a chance to get a true superstar he goes I don't care what it costs I'm gonna get him when John Paxson and gar Forman have seen opportunity they stand in the corner and they let another team go after that you are going to work what matters is can you identify they're always in the draft that's what matters how do you do when you get a pop their deck one cases pick Kevin white only for a good friend but but friend I dead there too two aspects here you have to identify the talent then you have to develop the town so if you find good talent but that talent isn't developed because you have a coach that isn't good at developing talent there aren't you really still just running in place we have a Kobe white snap of all three Robert Motherwell Carter junior I'm just saying we are very these guys friend I can you prove that you were that you were the task to be here because it went well when I want to know how can Ryan pace go back images Comiskey after three years this guy right after seventeen years is still going to bat for packs still I still because I'd like to I like a young core I'm not happy about the coach I agree with you there but listen Fred that's part of management that's where like Ryan pace is is empowered to hire coaches so we have to make the right decision yeah but it did me audited to it's it's the right coach or right now it is what matters in the long run it always matters and how you can bomb on three top ten pick like that believes we serious questions about your bill not only that she did you know we will go to item whose and go on and on and I. G. I love the job that the bill would be identified count than I do in writing page nine guide to the bulls no you're you're you're gonna ask listen again I I I think he can make a good case for identifying talent but then you have to develop the end part of identified developing the talent is hiring the right guy to develop your talents marching Greco is waiting in the wings he will tell us why he dressed in drag on new year's eve it's widely sell the idea one thousand the new year and the wild card weekend let's kick off twenty twenty the right way car what do you think it earning your goal football Friday broadcast playoff.

The Bears ended an 'especially disappointing' season with an especially disappointing press conference

"Ryan Pace. You're on the clock despite a disappointing season for Mitchell trubisky. The bears announced that he is returning as the team's starter in twenty twenty. There were however some some changes. The team fired four coaches from the offensive staff including offensive coordinator. And then you look at what happened. The last six weeks of the season season. And this is what I think. Gm Ryan Pace has had on you look at the record. Obviously passing yards. Everything improved but dominique. Are you really buying this statement. Because because from my point of view on the outside looking in D- in the Arizona cardinals say you know. What Josh Rosen Guy? By the way Kyla Murray were drafted number. One I'm glad we got Tannenbaum Outta here because in general managers lie that was a general manager generally lying I at least I hope it was because would Mitchell trubisky show like. It's hard to come back with this guy. Considering the way that he performed. I know we got better in part because the coaching around him got better. They started moving out of the pocket and running the ball with a little more. That's encouraging however it's hard to. It's it's impossible to argue that. He's not wildly inaccurate. And that's tough in this league to be wildly inaccurate. Like he is and I

"A lot about the players today and Ryan pace and it's his favorite ball game today it is the Sun Bowl it is but is no longer just the Sun Bowl Adele was never just the Sun Bowl but it's always been something big changes big changes unlike Ryan pace unlike Ryan pace not promising big changes big changes up at the the son ball sponsorship it used to be the Hon die twenty the hunt I stumble on a used to be the Helen of Troy limited Sun Bowl the Norwest corporation Wells Fargo Sun Bowl and the John Hancock insurance on ball back but in August of twenty nineteen Kelloggs announced the it was named the new title sponsor and I'll be branded the Tony the tiger sun ball it is indeed the Tony the tiger Sun Bowl and I am absolutely smitten with the fact that at midfield banning from forty to forty in big logo there is a huge Tony the tiger and it is the Tony the tiger Sun Bowl Arizona state in front Florida state nine nothing right now odd as real grass December thirtieth twenty sixteen what a game what a game when ms Hardesty lead North Carolina to victory oh wait a minute Stanford beat them twenty five to twenty three but he put on a performance for the ages one that that would alter the franchise the Chicago Bears franchise for at least the next four seasons and probably five as we've been talking about and in a long line of former bears quarterbacks have played if you go back to actually not a long line really just one other one if you go back to two thousand and two the M. V. P. all of the Sun Bowl that two oh two oh two at what the symbol that wasn't that wasn't give a give me conference was that was a big ten yes was a Craig Krenzel no ma'am Kyle Orton yes Sir do and your MVP that year was Kyle Orton so yeah I don't know that that doesn't mean anything all the time this was the MVP the year that it's a travesty lost the Sun Bowl twenty four to twenty three the Stanford at defensive end you know and it was a missile service get you just have to wonder Solomon Thomas and I know sometimes but John Lynch was that the game also then I guess probably as he for Tom toms and things right he actually trade away the second overall pick to Ryan pace so that he could select measure to risky he of symbol fame all right the Tony the tiger Sun Bowl is officially a half nine nothing Arizona state anti before state we are you the home for Sun Bowl break done better than anybody else here today is a one thousand coming up next the will get back to the NFL conversation we'll talk with the NFL network's Kyle brands he will join us so you.

"It is one one silvery melon of dollars sitting in until three thirty today and it has been an eventful day we obviously have been discussing everything that took place up at Halas hall we've been breaking down Ryan pace and the the answers the unsatisfying answers that he gave us today feel so on CFCs we talked about Matt nat you being a little bit more forthright in what he'd like to see Mr to basically improve upon mark Helfrich being fired after all of the articles were filed and yes after after George McCaskey Ted Phillips met with the media and Ryan pace and met Maggie addressed the media from the podium we then learn to that mark Helfrich the office coordinator has been fired he stand the offense of line coach has been fired Kevin Gilbride the tight end coach has been fired and at a leave all the special teams assistant coach was like going the most surprising to me the bears found their kicker their special teams were actually good this year according to Patterson they actually had a good special teams unit this year that's the most surprising five of them all it's the least no name but it's the most surprising so that is the news of the day that we've been all over three one two three three two three seven seven six if you'd like to check in with us but as I said earlier it's the water until the show ends when the bears have a season ending press conference there is no way we can not hear from the man whose name is on the marquee it is indeed still the Marc Silverman joins us here on his own show on ESPN one thousand Sylvie your thoughts on what went down at Halas hall today yeah boys happy new year yeah I heard Dan and I heard what you guys are saying earlier and I think was Mad Max who was on earlier and he said my head was probably about to explode and and yeah for a variety of reasons I think it's safe to say that Ryan pace finally scouted deshaun Watson because there's no way that he could be looking at the tape of nature best in declaring that matches the on question starter maybe he's watching the show on what's in Cape and he thinks that makes travesty I don't know what's going on there and I understand that a lot of people have responded to a lot of my tweets today saying that actions speak louder than words we've we've been we've waddle and I have talked about this numerous times there have been many press conferences warning in Chicago that's the guy that used to be the hip thing to say who did you win or lose a press conference but ultimately it doesn't matter you know the cubs kept switching out there hitting coach and they would win out when a press conference but they continued to under achieving the last couple of years so I I get it did that Ryan pace may tell you one thing today any may ultimately do another thing but I thought he asked a really good question regarding match and that was are you do you find it tough to to adequately evaluate match because your emotions tied to a mini says that's what I do bass they actually don't go by emotion yeah and what I heard today about the best ski and gene and and the backing of that nagging his own hand picked coach to me tells you that he's either too dumb too stubborn or he is too emotional to make the right call yes only my reading of it was when I heard him talk about it I said earlier in the show you remember a few years back here when suck on social media when the the black dress slash blue dress phenomenon happens right everybody was arguing are you seeing a black dress so using a blue dress with gold stripes and for me that's the way this played out because the bears we were we were talking about it yesterday from the was an eight eight season for me that felt like it was more like six and ten and the way they were talking about up there on on the podium today house all why is that it was an eight eight season that was so close to being ten and six and if a few things go differently they're going to be right back where they were last year and that is not the the I don't have the same reading I read on it and at all and that's the reason why I after today you're right you can put actions do speak louder than words but after today I don't know how you could have any confidence Ryan pace moving forward unless the actions that he does have completely contradict everything you told us today and you have talked a lot about it we've talked a lot about it I just it's not be against and Ryan pace it's not being it's not a travesty guy as a bears fan I don't want to sit here as well the the calendar turns to twenty twenty one next year and I was having the same conversation Hey what I mean Ryan pace doubled now tripled quadrupled down and make your best gaming not only did he take travesty over my homes and watch and not only did he trade up from three to two to say how much I believe that your best he's gonna be the one now after seeing what we saw in twenty nineteen and granted yes the op and the line wasn't good the play calling wasn't good I get all that but still Mitch Comiskey isn't cut and the quarterback start everything and for him to quadruple down now he's gonna sink with the ship or he's going to have the biggest parade aber because he's going to be the last man standing saying saying I told you so and I hope he's right I hope we're all wrong and he's right but I fear that were all right and he's wrong in order to be sitting here again in twenty twenty one as the Titanic goes down your gambling man at least with bottles of wine and lunch in various cups of coffee if you after listening to the press conference today the question was asked about the fifth year option and they have to do that by March I believe would you gamble that they pick up the option in it when it they have by the time that they have to in March I would gamble yes but but that would be only optimistic thing is is is confident as he was to say majors going to be a starter here in his fourth year why didn't he go out on a limb and just say Hey we're picking up the fifth year option so that gave me a little hope that they're not totally sold on him and and and we'll see but I would still say that I mean you heard the glowing words today two of Leonard Floyd guys here that we played it I mean so it's it's Floyd is a match it should it's Maggie those are all guys that Ryan those are the Ryan pace moves you know what I mean so what I'll be doing for you Kevin white I know but at least he saw his and with Kevin white it least he saw the writing on the wall and he had release them like they're he's being stubborn or stupid about these other guys and live in going to the the thing that I really wanted to get off my chest to is is what you and mark and said now are and and in our tax change and and you said on the show a couple of times I do believe what they did today at the press conference was a coward mills it was cowardly it's a news conference for a reason you're supposed to give the news that was decided they did decide that in the one or two hours between at mad Maggie is always sad we don't have any **** on this team that was a **** moves to know that you're going to fire your offense of coordinator your tight ends coach your offense of line coach who has a very good reputation and you don't want to explain to the media and to your fan base why they have to leave the building but you get to stay and continue to call play because that opens a whole new can of worms wind that Nagy are they leaving the building but you get to continue to hold the Denny's menu that says be ill and she wanted to clearly avoided that was a treadmill he always breaks down the hostility says we're family that was about family move that was you'll wacky accountability given this to Mitch Stravinsky guys no matter what game it was this year how bad Mitch Stravinsky locked weather was the rams game when he got pulled and they said it was the hip thing and he had to stand there after the Sunday night game to put aside down and explain every little throwing how we got pulled from the game or some other games he was always accountable always accountable in med Nagy who I loved after his first year who I thought was different who I thought would be a man who's held in high esteem he was lacking accountability today that was a little mad so the next time you say there are no turns on this team don't make a **** low night well said Sylvie as so eloquently as well too because it's it's it's absolutely mind boggling first of all to then two hours after you just met with the media that to that release that statement that's a big middle finger to the media and the fan base saying look because it because it is it's your news conference you know you're gonna get the questions if you go ahead and let the media know that you're releasing them but guess what you you've showed that you don't need to be completely honest in these things it's completely up to you whatever narrative you wanna shape just be accountable enough to go up there and say this is the news go ahead give us your questions and then lie to was like you're going to do because those with the sound bites that we play but you can go ahead and shape the narrative however you choose to do that two hours later say oh yeah here is all the teams that are sweeping changes are going to be made it was completely cowardly and for me again just another bad PR move by the bears organization in years of thing now or it may be the right no that's the big maybe here he stand in his blocky philosophy doesn't go with what Matt Nagy wants to do the arranged marriage between mark Helfrich and mark that nagging may not be good for this football team maybe we do need new voices in all those decisions it could be the right move just for me the Matt now you need to answer this question so with everything you said and he also didn't want to have to answer the question on why he believes in what he's doing but he doesn't believe in that last year was Cody Parkey the whole season fell down and Cody Parkey he was this state go and they turned over every rock in the blob brought in twelve or thirteen kickers this year it's on how Fred it's on he stand it's on Gilbride but it's not on him and I just think that lacks accountability and that's being tone deaf well I wonder what they do with the office of court a position now because as we mentioned so the the the Helfrich marriage was not one of Nike's wanting I mean he may have not oppose it but it's not one of his guys and Sean who's producing the show it is a big Notre Dame fan and said he stand made NFL made college kids into NFL players he might not be good as an offense of line coach in the NFL he's good at developing and recruiting guys and turning them into NFL lineman he may just not have been a good coach and to have a new coach in maneki in to bring in all of these first time head coaches add to it first time NFL coaches may not have been a move and that's probably why they didn't want to answer questions about it because it goes back to Ryan pace because he brought in all these guys he's worked Nagy's guys this falls on Ryan pace as having a first time NFL head coach and then also bringing in all these first time NFL guys to.

"Know that that's a great question but usually when you have you know good people that believe in one another whatever whatever the the disagreement is or the agree to disagree as it'll be it'll be may what's best for the team okay how exactly could they settle healthy disagreements between Matt Nagy and Ryan pace and Ted Phillips right we of rock paper scissors what's a good way for them to actually solve that do they go out to the gym and maybe take free throws do they put up a what would be fair man that used to play quarterback in in college what real they could as he tried to throw football through a through a a little thing that target how would they solve that you got a disk this agreement Matt nagging things one thing Ryan pace thinks another how is that gets solved and basically right now you said well we'll have to figure that out what to look and see exactly how we're going to go about doing that three one two three three two three seven seven six Freddie you'll know what you hear on a merry Christmas a wonderful another thing I want to ask you I pulled out of my driveway today I looked down and it said forty seven degrees in my car when I'm driving here and everybody likes a White Christmas early some people like a White Christmas and do you enjoy Christmas with fifty six three whether or are you live in the Midwest your Chicagoland you've probably lived here most your life of that all your life would you not for for a little bit of snow on Christmas three one two three three two three seven seven six let's jump to the falls we have not decided takin John eight John what's up Hey how you doing very good question today I was at the at charter game and a good pick ups and I was looking at their offense of line is pitiful like you mentioned first of all my concern is pace you know with his ability to select good talent he picked a shaking in a couple years ago when I picked it up right now I mean you can't block so really if they need to look at the big schools the big can get all the facts and of tight ends and the offense of linemen and basically I think that's what they have to look at and I think they need a power back they if they need a a big back back there because I think my governor he is he's good at opening up the holes and he's a little light any suffer that's runner so I think they need a power back so I think that's what I would look for but of course it all depends on you know who's available but I think I would look at those suppositions does a lot okay sounds good thanks a lot of the call merry Christmas John you have a good one new two three one two three three two three seven seven six I don't think anybody out there could disagree with offense of line in tight end when the bears looking for help I know the name Jaylen hurts a bit out there people say will do very should should get another quarterback and bring one in do you grab us a quarterback in the second round when you have other needs and I say all their needs where a majority of bank of bears fans are going to tell you over the majority maybe fifty fifty but there's a lot of bears fans who say they need to get rid of metal to risky and there's another fifty percent that's a travesty if he had the place called for him that he is good at would be a better quarterback now I'm not a hundred percent sure that's true I have been trying to stand behind Mitchell to risky because I think the play calling from Baghdad use me a really bad this year but Sean you were shot you run of a point earlier were upstairs there's another quarterback last year who was about was about on par with Stravinsky and he got his team to pretty much the same places to rescue last year but this year has been a lot different for these two quarterbacks yeah we're talking about how one the mark Jackson and it's true this he ended the season last year on the same day in the same manner uhhuh both struggling early in playoff games on January the sixth two thousand nineteen both come away will losses and both of them performing much better towards the end of the game right so you look at their arc that that a game you would probably say that for this he was a little bit of ahead of him for this he threw for three hundred yards against Philadelphia of Jack's only threw for one ninety for two touchdowns one interception she basically had the one touchdown most people out there that we can those games probably the same attributes he's going to take a bigger step next year hello mark Jackson and now look at this hour mark Jackson is the MVP of the league souls like what has happened here yeah we hear everything about Mitch we know as an actor see especially with the ball in this opportunities to get some place for the offense but what really sticks out when you compare these two guys that seem to be at the same point at the end of last year it's all about the investment of the team right I don't think about it that the caller just said all light anti dads the the ravens don't have one they don't have to they have three tight ends they throw the ball to boil Andrews and Hayden Hearst a great amount of three tied in sets yeah run heavy from formation look and all three tidings out in the past right there throw the ball all their tight as and in the off season they went out got mark Ingram okay they went out and got an established that I fell running back that you know Hey they didn't deal with Rick running a rookie running back and those weapons along with an offense of line and then Lamar Jackson allowing him to do with Lamar Jackson does well and all of a sudden you've got the team that is the number one seed in the AFC east I'm sorry in the AFC when the playoffs get here next week as well have a body they're not gonna play this week they're hoping that the calf injury gets better for marking room but think about it a couple of changes just a couple of moves and you can become a much much better team in one year sold now you look at the front offices and some people say it's the coach the head coach in John Harbaugh other people say that Lamar Jackson's finally becoming the player and being allowed to become the player that he is and they're letting him do those things a lot of people myself included think that if your mac Daddy you were brought here to run an offense you were right you were brought here because you're not offensive minded head coach you call your plays you stock with Mitchell for risky and all of a sudden you're not making metal for rescue better player and that's frustrating that's really frustrating among the many other things is that you know the offense is so bad thirty of in some categories twenty ninth and others that you was asked how he is reflected on the offense this year not a lot throughout the year but it's not like what you're able to do one season and so you know that's obviously a a that area that that I know that we know that we got to be a lot better so I can just say that I will be doing everything in and my in my area to to do whatever we can to to get this off it's better everything in your area you're the head coach of the Chicago Bears your area is everything you are the overseer of everything that happened Chicago Bears okay soul mate Nagy you have to look at everything and right now you're probably very happy with Chuck by god or the defense and rightfully so as I mentioned earlier only four teams in the NFL are allowing fewer points than the bears the bears a lot we just eighteen point six points per game you should be able to win more games your offense needs to be fixed and you are the guy that puts the offense together you are the guy that said listen I got Mitchell to rescue that can figure this out I can make mention better quarterback coaches are supposed to put their players in the best position to win games and throwing underneath all the time and not opening up the field and not doing things in making easy throws for match is something difficult if you watched the Niners rams game last week was a prime example of what head coaches do now the ram still lost the game by they lost the game go down fighting they had Todd Gurley running the ball and they had Jared Goff get not a pocket on the move move in the pocket I know I said I listened to J. hood and JD yesterday saying you can't move the pocket at every play I'm not expecting you to move the pocket at every place but Mitch does that well Mitch throws the ball well on the move why not do that a little bit more maneki genius tried to show with the I. game against Kansas city he comes out and he runs match right your runs match right again any dot runs another I was so mad after the first couple of plays he was just trying to say okay well you said never run the ball well here we go we're going to run the ball that's just a guy being arrogant so the phone quickly is go river north and Bob your ideas for you know one thousand eight Bob eight right a first of all merry Christmas I love whenever you're on always a pleasure to assist you thank you absolutely I just want to I don't think that makes tradition it was said on the telecast in a capital over he does not hit the open guy like the easy stuff it's almost like a short stop I know you know the White tactic yeah after playing shortstop I think the ball toward the first they can't I mean I don't know I I I it's got some bad I'd empty out the quarterback will none of those guys can play no look I can help you win I thank J. what hurts available I just think that in those positions if you got a tight end and I am a office of line help was supposed to be big draft for for that those positions I believe I think it would be a call at the help and the thing that scares budget whenever he doesn't when he was in Alabama you looked a lot like this happens and I know you go way back down I mean it looks more like an athlete and it's five what do the mark Jackson quarterbacking but like a RG three out a lot of those guys either Peter don't they don't pan out they get hurt and it's all you know so I I I gets up I was in your answer what you think yeah Bob it's tough and we appreciate the call and merry Christmas also it is difficult Lamar Jackson's been having a great season for you mention RG three and then you think about it and you mentioned other quarterbacks that run the ball Michael Vick and it's difficult because sometimes you're these running quarterbacks are going to get hurt but the one thing Lamar Jackson is shown as he can beat your from the pocket and he's shown and he's been able to do it and so he's been he's multi purpose and the other guy that shows it each and every year and he's one of the guys was a competition for every P. without Lamar Jackson is Russell Wilson and Russell Wilson does it with not many guys in the back field now he's gonna Marshawn Lynch back and not many receivers but he's been able to keep that Seattle team close all season long and if you still got a chance to be where they need to be on top of the NFC west is a take out the Niners this coming Sunday night three one two three three two three seven seven six more bears talk we come back don't forget we're gonna hit a wall yeah Blackhawks coming up next half hour we got some balls talk Steve Silverman's got market among the gas we're gonna talk cubs white Sox what's the deal here I'm a Christmas morning here actually Christmas afternoon here at ESPN one thousand yes your home for college football bowl season the college football NFL Mock Draft 2019: Cardinals pick Kyler Murray

"Entity. Arizona Cardinals are expected to take Oklahoma quarterback Tyler Murray with the first pick in tonight's NFL draft while the bear sit and wait don't hold a pick until number eighty seven overall in the third row general manager Ryan pace in his scouting staff will spend tonight monitoring other teams picks trying to get an edge on Friday night. I paid attention to who's getting drafted what physicians are getting selected at trying to project. How that's going to further around as we get further into the draft asked for his philosophy. Bears will release kicker Cody Parkey at the start of the new league year

"Let's talk about the Chicago Bears. They are going to release Cody parkey at the start of the new league year sources confirmed ESPN today. Sources are we are we surprised I mean, I don't think this is a surprising move. I think I think that the the timing of it the way that it just kind of came out of the blue from Ian Rapoport tweeting it out confirmed by Adam Schefter. So now, it's basically official until they do it. The league year starts in the middle of March. That's when the the free. Agency, period begins teams can sign players teams can trade players and teams can release players. And one of those players will be Cody parkey, it's going to cost the bears on the dead cap. Five point five point one five point one almost five point two million dollars. So they're going to basically have to pay to kickers next year. You're going to have to pay Cody parkey to go away. And then you're gonna have to pay whoever ends up being the bears kicker whether that's someone that they draft hopefully, not or someone that they sign whether it's veteran, whether it's an undrafted free agent, weather, whoever it is they're going to have to pay to kickers the article on ESPN dot com says parking miss eight field goals, including a forty three yard kick. That would have beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs. We know that with his first season with the bears the bears signed parking for a four year four year deal including nine million dollars guaranteed last March bears coach Matt Nagy express disapproval with park Parke's decision to appear on the today show five days after missing his final attempt after. Filadelfia? The NFL network was first to report that parkey will be released from the Chicago Bears. So that's dot com and Abdali, you're right. Like it's not a surprise as a bears fan. I think we all saw this coming and you're right. They're going to have to pay to kickers again not much of a surprise because we all saw this coming the thing that I want to see is allow someone to win this job this summer, right? Undrafted rookie guys who are out there on the street right now have a kicking competition this summer in training camp allowed the guy to win that competition and that will be your kicker heading into the season. I don't want to spend any more big dollars on a kicker now. That's just my philosophy. I'm Chris black. And that's what I do if I'm running a football team. I don't spend on kickers. That's just why do I also don't draft running backs in the first round. And that's how I run my organization, and I continued drafting quarterbacks until I find the guy that's how I would run things. So I get it that Ryan pace has. Messed up. I'm glad that Ryan that Cody parkey will be gone, but let's not mess up again and pay big time for a kicker whose unnecessary. Let's just find someone who can get the job done probably at the league minimum. And let's go on our merry way. Because in all reality. I know what a lot bears fans are going to tell us is the reason they didn't win the Super Bowl this year. Was Cody parkey. And I think that that's not correct. I think the reason you lost that eagles game is because that kick did not go through. But you also had opportunities where you could win the football game. And not put it in your kickers. Put you see what I'm saying? So the bears have many opportunities going forward to be a very good football team. And I think overspending on a kicker after this mess up by Ryan pace in in signing, Cody parking in the first place. Let's not compound this issue. Let's just find the guy in training camp. And let's go forward as bears fans. Yeah. I think the reason that you lost that game is because Cody parkey had to make three. Kicks to set up that fourth kick. Right. And then Mitchell Trubisky didn't get his blank together until the second half of the game. And then drove them down the field in what should have been a game winning drive. And then ultimately you the team's effort was placed on Cody parkey. I'm not gonna sit here and let you slander Mitch Trubisky tonight Abdala the defense also had an opportunity to stop. Yeah. Did who is not a outstanding quarterback zone? Right. Like the bears defense. The best defense in the league could have shown up in the fourth quarter in stop the eagles. Offense, thus negating the necessity of Cody parkey to even have to make a kick out the end opportunities to beat the eagles in that football. Here's a will. Appease the fan base. You've already done the first thing you've cut Cody parkey, check, right. The next thing is not don't answer to the cries of the fans and say go sign Robbie gold Ella. Rodney gulp. Ravi builds. Great kicker. Great kicker. Wasn't a good kicker when he was cut by the bears. But ultimately said that's what he needed to get back. So don't call up and say, well, he was he he's being great. They would've won. No, they wouldn't have if they wouldn't have ever if they would cut him. It's a cutting him for him to go back and figure out a new to readjust his kicking to figure out a way to get right again. And he did. And now he's good kicker again. He's also gonna be expensive. So don't spend that money. Don't spend an extra five million dollars that extra nine. Dollars or whatever signing Ravi gold. Go find next Ravi gold. Spend the minimum like you said don't draft either. No don't be drafting kickers. We're not drafted running backs in the first round. Have a whole lot of traffic in this strap. We shouldn't be you shouldn't go out and try to draft a kicker because you have to address other issues on this team. And that's going to be done with those draft picks you find the undrafted free agent. You hold tryouts. You do whatever you do make it a Disney movie. I don't care. Find a kicker and find a way because you don't will. Appease the fan base ultimately

Brandon Brooks and Sheldon Rankins suffer serious injuries

"Injury. But an achilles tendon tear is rough especially if you're a big dude like those guys are and get it in January. I mean that certainly puts their seasons next year at least being back for the start of next season. Certainly puts that in jeopardy as for the bears while man. It was pretty obvious from their head coach matinee that he feels like it's about we not me with the team. And he felt like Cody parkey going on good morning. America was today show, whatever he went on that that was sort of a selfish thing that made it about him. He didn't seem real real keen on that. And then the GM Ryan pace said that positions at priority. The hime four year twenty million dollar deal with nine million dollars fully guaranteed. That's amazing. That's unbelievable. That's just crazy. I might even ask have to ask Andrew about that one. And then colts GM Chris Ballard. I just think he would need to be blown away to give up perset. I think he's smart enough that to realize nobody's gonna give him enough. It's worth not having perset as a backup quarterback. Jim, even you know the injury history of Andrew luck. I think he just probably being realistic about it as much as

"But that was New Year's day and he joins us right now. Toxin playoff football. Peter happy new year. How are ya? Happy new year to you guys to what's it? Give me the atmosphere there. What's it? What's it been like the last couple of days? It's crazy. Yeah. It's people are ready, Peter. I mean, it's it's been so long. And you know, I don't know how closely you've followed the bears crowd in the last several years. But it's never been mistaken is much history. Soldier has in the bears. Have never been mistaken in Seattle or Kansas City. But the vibe in these recent games with against the Rams and the home game against the Vikings of bears fans have taken it up a notch. Well, I mean to me when I you know, I wrote my in my column the other day, you know, my my heart says, Nick foles, my head says Khalil Mack. And that I mean, look, you cannot argue you can't deny. I mean, I'm sure that one of the reasons why everybody is is really excited about this. Because you know, they know that there is a formidable opponent on the horizon. And and quite honestly, you know, the fact that this defending Super Bowl champion and in the last three weeks they've had three games they had to win to advance. And they won at the Rams. They beat AFC south champion Houston at home. And then they demolished Washington. This is not the Buffalo Bills of last year waltzing in this is not the this is this is a totally totally formidable opponent coming in. You know to play the bears. And so, and I only mentioned that because I think that is so cool. That this is not kind of a walkover game. This is a great fun competitive outstanding game at least on the surface right now. So I'm really excited about it. Peter if in fact, the Philadelphia God forbid, the Philadelphia magic continues and they walk out a Soldier Field Sunday evening with a victory. How is how would you? How do you expect that to happen? What will have happened to to lead to that victory? Somebody's gonna have to block Akeem Hickson Khalil Mack period. That that's the way that that's Philadelphia's best shot. And and I mean, look, I I'm not I'm not I'm not in any way, a forecaster. But I picked the bears in his game. Because I just don't think right now, I think there's a couple of defenses in football. That that you know, I think there's one great defense in the NFC. Here's one great defense in the AFC, and Chicago and Baltimore, I think Baltimore is the best defensive them. All but I think it was very very close. But I, but I I think just like I think against Baltimore. I think you can make plays against both secondary not saying that you're going to make plays against the secondary the bears. But this the strength of this team to me is that is that defensive front because I think they suffocate people. And that's the way that they're going to have a chance to win this game. I think by by suffocating the Philadelphia Eagles is how big is an advantage is home field advantage. Here. Is it nullified by the experience in the championship? Pedigree of the eagles are as the fact that Nick foles is going to be using. A silent count a lot because of this this. This noise is going to be a huge huge factor that favors the bears. Well, I don't think the weather is going to matter. I don't think the temperature is going to matter. But I do think the noise is gonna matter people can say that people can say that it doesn't matter. You know that a team has got a lot of veterans on it. And it really doesn't matter where the game is. I look I think the eagles are one of those teams that basically shrug their shoulders at at you know, at the at playing on the road, but it is an advantage. There's no question about it. And I think it's a significant advantage for Chris Chicago because I don't think the silence snap count matters as much as, you know, essentially, he's a total failure of offensively being able to communicate and that takes into that takes into account more than simply the silence snap count. That means that almost everything that Nick foles in this offense or going to do not almost everything. But a vast majority of the communication is going to be with the hands. And in the huddle before going to the line. So I think it's I think it's a significant advantage. But again, the eagles have been down this road before. And they they're I'm not saying they're the patriots in terms of overcoming adversity on the road. But I think they'll I think they'll be able to handle it. And I don't think that's going to be the difference in the game talking to Peter King in in your column today. Peter I saw that you wrote that the executive of the year award was tougher for you to figure out the MVP award. It was because. I've got such respect for. What Ryan pace did with the bears. I mean, I for anybody who would make this a clean sweep with math Nike and Ryan pace. I I respect you. I think that that's a that's a that's a very very well understood vote is look I think vote Nancy Lynn for coach of the year. I think both of Frank Reich Pete Carroll for coach of the year. All good with me. You know, there's there's very very rarely one overwhelming candidate for any of these any of these winners. But having said all that. Look, I I'm a huge fan of the culture change. And what Chris Ballard had to go through in Indianapolis, and I voted for him in part because of something of Chris Ballard's making he's the one who made the informal agreement with Josh mcdaniels to be the head coach of this team. So in other words, he almost he. You know, Chris Ballard pave the way for his own comeback of the year candidacy to some degree. But I think ballots denigrate job is draft was incredible. And they've changed overnight them from being a terrible offensive line's now. Being one of the better offense of lines in the league. And I'm get serious that happened over night. So and look I can't there's nothing negative this year. I can say because remember. You guys remember this? It was it was almost it was fifty two weeks ago this week that that the bears announced the Georgia Kassian Philips announced that that Ryan pace was coming back. And the John FOX was not. And I bet if you took a poll of of of I bet bet if you pull the thousand bears fans that they would have said that Philipson mccaskey overwhelmingly did not go far enough that they should have cleaned out Ryan pace to and Ryan pace just came through. And did a great job. He not only hired the right coach. But he made a lot of really smart decisions, you know, in sort of moving aggressively to re-sign Meredith. But in moving aggressively to re-sign, you know. To resign other guys including a scorned cornerback. You know, what you guys I'm sure that that when that decision came down, and and e- e-, you know, when that when that whole thing happened that I'm sure that a bunch of people did like that decision by pace either. But I think he had a very good year. And he's a very big reason why the bears have big game on Sunday afternoon. One of the other things he did Peter was they showed Vic Fangio respect, and they gave him a head coaching interview. And then they found a way to getting still stay here. Yeah. Yeah. How likely is it do you think that another team will give Vic his first head coach? I mean, it is long overdue. I think he is a fantastic football. Coach. Hugely well respected around the league. There's two guys who deep down. I am really really hoping. They get a shot. One is Dave Tope. You guys know him very very well. Now, the special teams coach formerly the bears now the chiefs Andy Reid values him is highly as any assistant coach he's had in vide-. He's huge for for the chiefs and also Vic Fangio because to me, I I sort of look at Fangio right now is look there. There are some guys you know, exactly how to play this play this game. And Vic Fangio wants to make it very very clear. Look if you want me as a football coach, I'm in. And you know, what if I have to do the public relations stuff if I do the media, I'm gonna do it. But you know, what I get a game this week. I'm not preparing for coaching interview. If if my resume on tape, which is my game tape, if my resume isn't good enough you need to pick somebody else because we're never going to. You're never gonna love me and good luck. And he doesn't say that bitterly. Egypt means it. I'm very very happy doing the job I'd doing, but hey, I'm like everybody else. I wanna shot, and you know to me. I I will tell you the place that I really hope he gets a shot at I hope he gets shot in Tampa Bay. And again, I have no inside information whatsoever. But the reason why that would be a good spot. Is there some really good talent on offense in Tampa? And in my opinion, James Winston needs a coach to look in the eye and say, stop leaping up. That's it. On the field and off cut it out and stop making the dumb throws stop doing this. And because you know, that when when when Dirk cutter got that job, you know, in my opinion, Dirk cutter got the job in part because he was going to basically make Janus Winston and efficient player. You couldn't do it. And now, I think James Winston needs tough luck. There's no coach on the market who's going to give a player tough love more than Vic Fangio. And and look if I'm Vic Fangio, I get that job. You know what I do? I signed the best backup quarterback. I can't. I don't know who it is whoever it is. I don't hear whatever, and you, and you just say to you say that to James, hey, I love you. But you know, what you gotta prove it because in game three if you're willing to throw in four hundred you're not make quarterback anymore. That's it. And so anyway, I that's that's the one place that when I look at Icee. I really would love to see what Vic Fangio could do in Tampa. Peter King joining us from NBC. It's Waddle and Silvy football Friday and ESPN one thousand it sounded like you had a tough. It was really tough the way you phrased it at the start of the interview to pick the bears that your heart said. Nick foles. But your head said the bears. What are the four games? Are you most convinced of a team will win? Oh my gosh. I don't I don't have any. This is look this is the best wild card weekend in memory. It's it's an incredible weekend. I mean think about recent wild card games last year, one o'clock Sunday big window for the NFL buffalo at Jacksonville, tyrod Taylor at Blake Bortles. Are you kidding me? I mean, you know, and two years ago, how about how about the immortal, you know, Connor cook the Oakland Raiders and Brock Osweiler of the Houston. Texans. The worst. I I'm telling you this. You could go back in history. And I and I dare anybody who the worst up of quarterbacks in a playoff game in NFL history. And and if you look at all these games this weekend. I mean, Andrew luck coming back winning nine out of his last ten and Andrew looks storming back to the scene. And he's. Got the game. That is usually save in that window. That's the JV game. You know, early Saturday where everybody's out shopping out doing whatever nobody's watching football till Saturday night. But this is a really really good game. Indianapolis, Houston, you know, they played twice this year. Indianapolis fifty seven Houston fifty seven. So I mean, this is going to be a good football game. And then Russell Wilson. Dak Prescott a great match up with. And if I told you at the beginning of the year that the Seattle Seahawks with the worst offensive line in football last year that they're going to rush for six hundred yards more this year than the Dallas Cowboys would that great offensive line is Elliott you'd have had me committed. But but that is a fantastic football game potentially in my opinion. Best game of the weekend. Sunday, one o'clock, you don't Baltimore in the chargers. Really just a fantastic match up with so much potential. You'll Lamar Jackson one of the most intriguing players to come into the league is years. We just you don't know what he's gonna do is. He gonna run it. Twenty times is gonna throw for three hundred. So it's interesting, and then you know, the bears and the defending Super Bowl champion year, the bears rewriting monsters mid way to or monsters of the midway three or four along with you know, some really really exciting players on offense. I think Tariq Cohen is so interesting so fun, so fantastic. And they're playing the defending Super Bowl champion to get to this point had to win at the Rams had to win against the AFC, south champions at home, and then had to be Washington. So with a backup quarterback. So it's just I mean, how can you? How can you have free better game better games? I was to say I was gonna say Peter going down this road, conversation wise, I agree with you. I think he's going to be fantastic. It would only be fitting if somehow someway Baltimore finds themselves in Foxborough the following weekend Whitney. Yeah. Because they have such a cool history. Yes. Against the patriots. You know, they beat them in the playoffs there. And then if Lee Evans catches a pass right in his hands in the end zone in another game. They beat them again in the playoffs. So I I mean, look, I just I'll I'll say this. You know, I'm in Kansas City right now, I'm on my way back to New York. I did a piece just a really really fun piece with Patrick Mahomes today, and it's not gonna air for until next Saturday. So, you know, it's sort of you know, silly to promote it now..
