"World. I think he wound up with six group on one is so mile and a half right up his alley joys post five pearn will probably settle them not too far back but get him to settle and see what kind of pace there is I want him with him on top and obviously all the beat is mogul. Then run particularly well in the breeders cup turf but his race and harris which a crazy schedule this year. The grand prairie which is usually run best deal day was put off to the beginning of september and he won that in the horsey beat that day in swoop came back and Was a terrific second and the ark behind saad size and before that he was third behind pile driver. Who had a terrific year. So boggles been against the best. He had a little bit of interrupted season because he wasn't able to run in the arc of that feed ish the contaminated feed and So he did come here for the breeders cup and ring okay but eighteen just kind of pasta rice and start the race was kinda messy but he does get ground that i think you'll like and the question is can he be the the local hard knock her but i think exalting can handle them. Hopefully we'll go off seconds pricing. Get three to one on him. So i'm gonna go exalted and vogel in hong kong vase the hong kong sprint fourteen horses and it was really tough position. Wind up watching the post position draw live the other night. It was on a ten o'clock at night kind of ten. Am their time. Excuse me and unfortunately to the big choices. Classic legend through the rail. And who's the other one that you fourteen Dannon smash japanese horse drew post fourteen. So that's awfully tough. To overcome their classic legends. Problem is going to begin. Shuffled does Benson i'll have to use them too hard to get up and try to beat some at a traffic or if he doesn't how much traffic is going to be an occasionally these rations day all swing out turning home and as roma money inside but i i just don't get the feeling that the inside has the better footing. Ucd sources kgo eight nine wide down the stretch and they seem to be on pretty good ground. So i'm just tossing closely legend out completely. Now he just one everest The richest sprint race in the world. Fifteen sixteen million dollars australia. So but casper has and he's gonna stay in hong kong so y- be great to win those rights but you know some other big rights is coming up for him. So i'm tossing him. And unfortunately the japanese dannon smash does have speed but as ryan morgan have to you know. Use too much speed I think he will. And i don't i don't see how he can overcome pulse fourteen so all that said. I'm going to go for good of an upset here. Number seven wishful thinker to starts back in the In the permeable handicapped group to he went one zero seven and change. He sat off the pace. He finished tremendously last. Half was forty. Four change Just just was terrific. That was over track shot and good the firm which will probably have again sunday morning. Many came back in the jockey. Club sprint on november. Twenty second and just just didn't do well as in like fan as she was ninth behind hot king. Who will be one of the choices for the locals. But i think wishful thinking based on that too that race to starts back not bad at in this race last year. He's only beaten a length and a half so he can compete against caliber competition. And i think If he runs to race to back he's right in news right in and out of price. So i'm gonna go for thinker on top and then The the hometown favorite number too hot king prawn john sides and joe moreira. They won their last thought. They won the jockey club. Sprint came from off the pace dominated in the stretch. And you know john size is going to have the source. Just ready to go and you know with joe mary. He got the hottest jockey and hong kong pushing all the buttons correctly. But i'm trying out the classic legend when i'm thrown out Dannon smashed the five because of the drawer. Jeff did them no favours and casper. Was that the drawer. You kind of incognito. He had hooded sweatshirt but he had to go up to the board and draw the postition. He clearly wasn't too happy drawing the one so well love bolton's try to beat them. We want to see him but we want to take a lot of money so that if we do when we get a better price well wish will longer wishful thinkers going to be a a a a monster number. And you know there's there's a it's funny There's three horses that that lined up In here at least numerically. Not in not in the barrier but Wishful thinker computer patch and re tan. And when you look at the three of them dick it. It's kind of funny. Because they've you know they've they've been mixing it up on a steady basis with hot king prawn and they've all kind of taken their turns including computer patch and wishful thinking. Winning reten seems to hit the board on a regular basis so really all three of them And they're all going to be square prices. Maybe computer patch probably with sumi on the shortest of the three but There there really are some you know some indices that say you know the the ones the horses locally that.

"One of the biggest stories of the week, not just here in southeastern Wisconsin. But nationally. Was this Esquire magazine article? It's the March issue, remember, how magazines always I never understood why they did this. It was always a month ahead. So back in the day. I got Sports Illustrated magazine. You know, come home, there'd be Sports Illustrated. It'd be well say today, for example, February fifteenth if you'd like the March issue or even the April issue, depending on what it is. I never spring training preview. My goodness basketball season. They're always a month ahead. But the February month of even though it's the March issue of Esquire magazine. On the cover is a seventeen year old high school senior from west bend, Wisconsin. Kid's name is Ryan Morgan. And it's called the life of American boy at seventeen and talks all about Brian his girlfriend growing up in west bend, Wisconsin. What he does for fun school just trying to figure out life. What kind of shoes he's going to wear that day? Blaze on the Packers. Why there's been blowback is. Because again, what in the world at least in the minds of some what a magazine want to be talking about a seventeen year old Caucasian kid for. Well, that's a loaded way to think. So there's been a discussion pro and con. On if in why it's appropriate. Bizarre. That this is where we are as a society here. Twenty nineteen. But if you read the Arctic, which is very good. Makes you angry at times as a conservative. But it is an interesting article, which again, you can't find a Belling dot com, by the way in Mr. billions absence. He is updating his his site on a regular basis dot com. It's right in the top of the page. You can't miss it. Within the article there's a couple of nuggets that I think are getting lost. And they shouldn't because they're even more big Singlish. They're more important than the premise of the article itself. I'm going to quote here from the Esquire magazine article at western high school, there's a required one semester class called US government in law who here hasn't had to take US government law at any time in high school. We all did NAMA fan of politics. So I was interested in taking this class for most. That wasn't the case. In. This course students will experience how the wheels of government and Justice work at the local state and federal level student activities and hands on experiences will be emphasized to demonstrate how we the people are affected by in function within our government and law students electing to take an advanced placement US history have the option of taking this course, in grades ten eleven twelve. So that's the course overview the article. Esquire magazine. Says this. The class recently took a political opinion poll again in the US government law class at western high school the class recently took a political opinion poll that places students on a forty four point spectrum from conservative to liberal. Two thirds of the class were moderate to liberal. Ryan the subject of the article Ryan Morgan says a few kids landed at the extreme one conservative radical. And then there was one boy in three liberal extremists all girls. So before we go any further, they're literally pigeonholing kids in high school into what your political beliefs are not just liberal or conservative, Republican or democrat extreme liberal extreme conservative or some points in the middle. But then it even goes farther at talks about what a Mr. Inc men. At western high school has the kids do in class and with this. I want to bring in a local blogger his name is on Robinson. Well known in the blogosphere around here runs the boots and sabers blog in west bend. Good afternoon. And thanks for joining me. Good afternoon. Dave. Thank you for having me on. Appreciate you making some time. I'm not gonna read what's on boots and sabers dot com. But I found it interesting. What Mr. Inc men has the students do in this US government and law class on top of pigeonholing them based on what their political beliefs. Are he takes one step further? Can you describe what that is? Sure. So what he does is. There's actually another teacher in at the westbound schools who wrote a pair of songs that are supposed to be parody songs of liberalism and conservatism, the liberal song is written to ode to joy and a conservative song written to the beer barrel, polka polka, and what they did was have the students actually sing these songs represent these views of what what these to live. What these two ideologies are. And it's just so over the top biased that includes a credible outfits in where the liberal song goes on to talk about how to be. A liberal life would be very grand very happy. Very great never have to fear. I have it made and have a big parade and all these positive terms in the conservative song. It goes on to say, I would never go out without my loaded. Shotgun social programs. Make me wanna puke I'd used any for to nuke. I think women should stay home procreate, cook and clean. I hate gay marriage. I wanna see criminals electrified just all this negative, violent bigoted terminology that that that's portrayed onto the conservative viewpoint. And they get up in half the kids go through these songs, they have them as you mentioned self identify on this political spectrum. And then from what I'm told from from class one. This has been going on a long time, which is distressing. But also every time a conservative student would perhaps identify with one of these conserved. Beliefs. The teacher spends an inordinate amount of time explaining why the liberal position is the the correct position may not go as far to say, it's correct. But certainly if they express a liberal beliefs that scene is the default, correct answer and the conservative belief always has to be challenged. And that goes on and on and on to the point that students are just uncomfortable. And they do what students always do they write the answer? They think the teacher wants to hear and they move on with their lives. And there's a lot of information there. I don't wanna cut you off. But there's a lot of information digest. We'll start from the beginning. Again. This is referenced the songs are referenced in the Esquire article what you've done on your site is gotten a copy of the songs in full. And you mentioned this has been going on for a while. While looks like this was Mr. Inc men's class where they were sung as you said they're written by a Mr. Kaiser is that correct? Says created in two thousand five so this has been going on for at least now I know I went to MC wanna go, but I can still add fourteen years, and you're right. I wanna take a moment here to read some of these lyrics here, which again, this is not an elective class. Not only that it's not a class that you sign up for or after school club. You know, the Republican club, the the democratic this is a class at these kids have to take in part of the curriculum is self identifying with what they believe, but also get in front of class and singing, if you're a liberal as you said, I would never have to fear that to me harm ever be done knowing that I'm liberal land. No one will ever own a gun. I'll keep going if I were a liberal liberal, my friends, I would want to have it made anti nukes in pro choicers, we'd protect in a big parade. We'd end pollution. It's so harmful very harmful. One can see come with me too liberal land. And we'll all join hands and hug a tree. I will say this was a parody or spoof. But oh my goodness. Vice found out my kids were singing this song. I'd be beyond upset, and it sounds like that is the case as some of these parents now in the west bend area are finding out about what's going on in their kids schools. What is and and actually a family brought this story to me last week. And I was just starting to dig into it. Because like you I read something like this is like, no no way that can't be right? And then the Esquire article comes out confirming it and since the story was published. I'm getting comment after comment from students, and the parents you said, yeah, you know, I was in the classroom twenty ten and we did this. I was I was there in my student felt uncomfortable inch in just new to keep their head down and do the work and move on. And just a clearly creating a hostile environment for conservatives. I think one of the most frustrating things is like you said, this is the required government class for these kids. This is the one semester class where they're supposed to be taught. How to be functioning members of our Representative government and they're spending their time on this. This is how we end up with with members of congress who don't know there are three branches of government. This is how we ended up with so much ignorance out there and people who don't even know how to engage their governments because they're not taught it this is their opportunity to teach in the west bend school district is deciding to do this. Instead that period..

"Life. It's the Chad Benson show. When I read the green new deal. I don't understand how you going to give a job for everybody. How you gonna give free college to everybody how you going to create clean energy throughout the country in every building of the land and then tally this thing off with thirty two trillion dollars on Medicare for all that's about forty trillion dollars. Plus, we are sitting with twenty two trillion dollars of debt. It's immoral to suggest that we can tally of twenty thirty forty fifty trillion dollars of debt to solve a problem that could be solved in a different way. Oh god. Let me tell you. How you're going to do it. First of all cost you a Cortes. Everybody gets stuck together. Spitballing here. Howard schultz. That's even your real name, white privilege came from all this giant money. Oh, yourself made in your poor whatever 'cause you're a male SIS gendered male. You're the worst kind of person gender hetero normative. Male person. It is funny. Right. Our we gonna do this. She's like tried to backtrack. Like all of this stuff is on her website. They had emailed this stuff out to media staff, and she's backtracking, and I don't think it was ready for prime time. And Mitch McConnell's like, hey, I got a great idea. What are we vote on this? Let's see who's who's put their money where their mouth is Democrats. It's a non by non-binding. But let's vote on it. Let's vote on the new green deal, let's boat on this thing to find out who is behind all of this stuff. And then we'll go from there against non-binding. But we just want to put their name to it. We're gonna we want everybody to put their name that you fundamentally want to change this. So anybody anyone? Any any any? We'll see what happens there. Got funny though, new green deal. No, it's green. It's a deal. He's the most hated man in America today. And I say the word man loosely because not a man yet. He's seventeen years old. He's assist gendered hetero. Normative kid from middle America middle Mirka middle America. And he's on the cover of Esquire. What? Yeah. And he's getting hammered for like he's done something like this kid is gone. And and done something horrific. He hasn't. He hasn't done anything of the such. He's just been a kid that they decided to take a look at in this day and age. In this day and age a seventeen year old kid from Wisconsin. They wanted to find out what it's like growing up in a world. Where you're living in the metoo living at toxic masculinity. You're living in a world that is changing. And in many ways, probably not changing for the better for you. Right. Name's Ryan Morgan. And people have come out and just absolutely. Attacked. Because that's what we do. Right. That. That is our new Olympic sport. It used to be lawsuits. But that's that's not immediate enough. Now, it's destruction. It shows pictures of him in his bedroom and him out hunting. And and and and you know, it's like white boy perspectives and struggles and people just just destroying him. Like, why don't you put, you know, a a trans African American LGBT per they're not getting it. First of all, let's explain stuff here, and I want everybody to understand this, right? Want everybody to get this? Damning people because they're six gendered, white males. Is ridiculous. I'm raising a little SIS gendered, white male. Right. I'm raising a child that's going to grow up in the world where he's being told all the time. Because he talks about stuff and I'll just look at him. Like, you should I shouldn't even be discussing half of the stuff that we're talking about here. And Secondly, you're paying for your great great. Great grandfather sins and your great grandfather's sins. And your grandfather who you never met. I was a kid. It's ridiculous. I'm getting sick and tired of it. I think a lot of people are getting sick and tired of it. It's because you're white. So you're automatically give all of this privilege. Well, if it's not that it's because you're male, and you're white and you have privilege. Oh, wait. Then you've got another thing where your mail your white, and you're straight and you got privilege, and then maybe you're not poor. So your mail your white, you're straight, and then you're not port. So there's some or privilege. Oh, your mail your white. You're straight. You're not poor plus mom and dad are still alive and around and in your life. Oh my God..

"Life of an American boy at seventeen about Ryan Morgan a teenager from west bend, Wisconsin. Jemele hill, the former ESPN Aker fired for calling President Trump a white supremacist. She obviously has absolutely no issues with calling out racism says just what we need a profile of a white kid during black history month. This is honest to goodness a simmering controversy that Esquire dared to do an in-depth profile. And if you actually read the piece it is quite engaging. It is quite interesting. It's part one in a series entitled growing up in America today. It's from the March issue of Esquire was released online this week and yesterday all. Corner is the internet were upset now. Normally when the social Justice left wants to target something. Whether it's Katy Perry shoes. This was the latest controversy. Katy perry. Wore a pair of high heeled shoes that were black and had a face on them. And you can just imagine what the problem with that was to Gucci where TMZ dot com. Confronted Floyd Mayweather the boxer outside of a Gucci store where he had just dropped probably knowing Floyd Mayweather about three point five million dollars on Gucci clothes. So why are you shopping there? Don't you know about the big boycott over the black face nine hundred eighty dollar turtleneck sweater? He said, of course, I do whatever the you know, what I want. But this latest outrage is simply about a magazine daring to do a profile of a white kid. Ryan Morgan the piece begins his seventeen and happy to be a guy to be a girl would mean he'd have to deal with a lot more drama. He'd likely have to deal with mean girls, and he could end up a mom, which he doesn't ever want. Because being a mom is hard. Probably the hardest job in the world outside. Milwaukee has a kid face with big Brown. Eyes. His mom, Tori, usually cuts his hair, which he sometimes sil- styles into his side. Sweep he's well dressed in has a sizeable sneaker collection at six five he's taller than most of his classmates taller than his dad Owen tall enough to get into a bar to watch football without getting carded Ryan's girlfriend. Caitlin is also seventeen. They got together in eighth grade after she gave him a birthday card with a twenty dollar Bill inside. This is pretty does that automatically entitle you to based on nothing more than these kids gender based on nothing more than this kid's race to think that doing a story on him is a problem. Imagine for a second. If we did a profile of Ryan Morgan. A seventeen year old six-foot-five average kid from inner city Milwaukee. A black teenager with a black girlfriend an all American couple a good kid most of the time because as you'll see one of the bigger outrages is that Ryan apparently and rather inexplicably got into a fight with a girl last year in which he spent a couple of hours in the in school suspension room to hear him tell it, and obviously because these are school records, I wasn't able to get access to them. And in truth haven't called west bend, west high school for more comment on this. But apparently what happened is he was in some computer lab, and he was opening and shutting this door. Who knows why he's sixteen years old at this point sixteen year olds do weird things some girl. He didn't really know said don't do that stop that. He did it one more time. And she punched him in the face. He apparently, according to this story smacked or back doesn't say with an open fist doesn't say with a closed fist. She claudia. Him and he fell into a row of computers. The bell rang and the girl ran off the teacher asked me to report it right away. He tells me, but I had a bus to catch. Ryan went home with a cut on his eyebrow to on his forehead and another on his ear. His mom told him to take pictures that girl could go home. Ryan recalls. His mom saying slit, the whole side of her cheek with a knife and come to school Monday and say, hey, look what he did to me that was news to him. He'd never even been in a fight before in middle school. He and this other kid had agreed to punch each other in the face because they wanted to know what it felt like, but when the time came. It just went home. I guess girl. Sometimes just do that. He says it happened. Once when my mom was in high school, girl, purposely broke her own arm. Just to get another person in trouble. He took photos of his face went to the principal's office. First thing on Monday, like his mom told him to. He was so upset the assistant principal tells me the author. He didn't know why he was in trouble Ryan spent a couple of hours in the in school suspension room got a ticket referring him to the municipal court where he appeared in August. He pleaded not guilty at a second meeting. Ryan spoke to a prosecutor at least I think it was a prosecutor. He said, I think he felt like it was stupid that I got a ticket for this. Then the look on his face was kind of like what the heck is this Ryan thinks if he were a girl he wouldn't have been punished as long as I don't get into trouble for a year. I'm okay. He tells me, but I had to deal with it. A few months the kids in school. They called me a woman beater. I don't think anyone actually thought I was just giving me crap. It was it was a stressful time the profile is rather on Flynn. Lynching and on judgmental about this. It doesn't cast Ryan as a wife beater. It doesn't cast him as an innocent victim. In fact, the profile itself is leftward leaning, of course. But it's pretty straightforward. It presents this as just something that happened in this kid's life. They talk about what he does for fun shopping at hobby lobby naturally. It's hobby lobby. It was either going to be hobby lobby or WalMart. The author tries her level best to portray this west bend, Wisconsin. This foreign land to her as she steps outside the safe haven of Brooklyn, New York, there is big cedar lake and little Caesar cedar lake a winter sports park and the little Switzerland. Ski resort Ryan is known most of his friends since elementary school. He left the state a couple of times to go see the ocean once with his dad down in Florida now this, of course is. Presented to fill the arena on the small town mentality. Westbound town of what thirty thousand people I would say, and it does point out something that I think a lot of people who aren't from around southeast Wisconsin who aren't from the state can't wrap their heads around west bend west and west bend east high school are in the exact same building. It is a massive building of like twenty three hundred kids. It's the biggest high school in the state, but it's two different high schools says after school Ryan usually goes home, he doesn't drink or do drugs. Parties are stupid. He says because it's where guys get drunk and talk about threesomes. It's lame isn't part of any social clique. Not the football guys, not the volleyball girls Pok Mon players, the animal lovers, the choir. Kids the kids who work on cars, and definitely not the white guys who all hang out with their trucks and guns and say hail Trump. And all that. And this is where the story gets a little political. They talk about. The two thousand sixteen election, and how it divided even kids and one of the things that really piqued my interest was when Ryan goes into I believe it's an an advanced placement in AP class law and politics, and the teacher has them sing a couple of songs. His name is Mr. Inman. And he has them sing a couple of songs and won. The liberal song is set to the tune of ODA joy. The if I were a liberal liberal life would be so very great. The lyrics read knowing that in liberal land. This other man could marry me then the conservative song set to the tune of beer barrel, polka listen to this one includes lines like, I hate social programs. They really make me want to Pook. I would rather use the money for a two ton nuke and welfare is not good before we had it people tried, and I hope the biggest criminals are electrified. Oh, yeah. This is in case you were wondering what's going on at west bend west high school and Mr. Inman class. This is a pretty good example of how kids get to be liberally indoctrinated because the the choice. They're presented is between conservatives who have a heart of pure black. And liberals who of course, are great and they're so inclusive, and they're so so so. Good. But the reality is the outrage two stories like this reveals that not all of liberalism is good. In fact, far too much, liberalism is exactly what it purports to hate. Exclusion. Demonization of the other in this case, the other is the white male. There is nothing in this profile, and it is a lengthy profile. That anyone should really have an issue with. I think I should call west bend west and ask about Mr. Inman and see if I can get a copy of the entire liberal and conservative songs, in fact, if there's anybody who's listening to me. Who goes to west bend west and takes this class? I would love to hear because the lyrics to these songs were apparently written by another west bend west teacher. I would love to get my hands on the conservative song and the liberal song because this sort of piqued my interest about what these teachers are pushing in terms of what liberals and conservatives truly believe, but this is pretty much a standard straightforward portrayal. The problem here is that it's being written at all this also manifested itself this idea that somehow being white that somehow even profiling someone who's white it it raised its ugly head again, unfortunately with respect to liberal icon and liberal darling Kamala Harris, she appeared on the iheartradio iheartmedia syndicated program the breakfast club. Which is heard on V one hundred point seven in Milwaukee. I'm not exactly sure if it's hurt in Madison. But it syndicated all across the country and Harris goes on for an entire hour. She does a forty four minute interview. So she's on for the entire hour with Charlemagne the God and his sidekicks, and she's asked in the last question they have about something controversial that she's going to face a lot of questions about. Her white husband. I noticed not the Latin you won't be here. But I do want to ask you this before you leave see this online all the time. And I I don't think it's fair even think personal life should matter. But they do mention your husband, and he's a house. She's so black when she married way. Look, I love my husband, and he happened to be the land that I chose to marry because I love him. And that was that moment in time. And I'm that's it s it. And he loves me. That's right. All right. Well, thank you for joining.

"They're using black and white, and they leave enough room in the left of the frame for the Brooklyn Bridge to make an appearance there. And I think this is key because throughout she's gotta have it Lee frames his characters around Brooklyn architecture, and he's establishing early on that this is a neighbor that's going to play an integral part in. So many of his films I heard from listener Ryan, Morgan on Twitter. He's at Mr. underscore ri- mo- and he suggested Myers for slightly different reason than this, the image of Mars, and she's gotta have it. He said, for the pioneering way that Lee use the character to fund and promote both himself and his films through the use of the burgeoning hip hop culture of the time. It was a genius way to get. Films made and seen by wide audiences. So of course, Ryan's referring to Mars second careers and Nike spokesman alongside Michael Jordan. That's why I think he's maybe even more famous than Mookie Hooley played in do the right thing. So for me lease at the forefront of everything, he makes not a director who hides in the background in any way. So I did want to shot with him on camera went with. She's gotta have it. Yeah, I love your approach. The aliens question is always a good one though. I think I not only thought about that practical function or impractical function as the case may be, but also shots that for me, some of the pleasure of watching his films. These are five films, certainly the top four that I will always go back to as my Spike Lee favorites. And I thought about the different types of shots that I think should be eligible for a list like this. The floating Dolly shots, the use of direct address to the camera, the Dolly shots, where he's doing something even more crazy in heightened than that floating one and then shots that aren't about the Cam. Movement and they're just about the imagery. They're just about the beauty of the shot itself, but that notion of purpose was always forefront in my mind. The form excites you, but okay. To what end is it employed? How does it inform the characters, the scenario? How does it affect our viewing experience and our understanding of what we're seeing beyond the coolness factor, and I'm going to start at number five with a film that I do think is a second tier Spike Lee movie though. I've only seen it once and I'd love to revisit it. It's more better blues, starring Denzel Washington, and it's the trumpet practicing. This is a film from nineteen ninety Denzel stars as a jazz trumpeter named bleak Gilliam and this practicing this shot in particular. I chose because it's a very -ation on the double Dolly floating shot. And I keep saying double Dolly Makoto in his conversation with Spike Lee explains what that is. It's just like, it sounds instead of the standard shot where you've. Got an actor in motion or standing still, and the camera is moving towards them or pass them, or whatever the case may be. They're both on dollies and that's what gives you that affect of them almost standing still, but also in motion as everything changes around them. We get a variation on it here that I'll get into. But the scene also has the element of direct address that we see. So often in spikes work where characters are directly talking to the viewer sometimes in almost documentary fashion, sometimes not sometimes within a pure narrative, they are looking directly at the audience or talking directly to the audience, and this is a scene that takes place early in the film bleak is practicing at his place..
