"Is not how he acts the words of the sister of the suspect held in that series of deadly random attacks aboard the train. Is that ass would telling the daily News Your brother acted strangely but was not final. Deputy Chief Ryan McGee says the person under arrest is Rigoberto Lopez, a 21 year old homeless man who lives in a Brooklyn shelter. He is charged with murder and attempted murder for the two stabbing deaths aboard a trains and two people who were stabbed but survived. He says a sharp eyed sergeant and a police officer were on patrol and recognized Lopez in Upper Manhattan from a video reviewing some of the video evidence in the vicinity off West 1/8 Street, the station of their own Fort Washington Avenue. We were able to come up with a new individual and were able to get that out to our offices, and they were able to stop him wearing the same exact clothing from the video chief, McGee says. Lopez has a string of past arrest that include an assault on a cop. He also has a history of two hospitalizations for mental illness.
DawgNation's Mike Griffith Makes Wild Accusations About the Potential of Georgia Football
"Going to read you a comment. That danny sheridan gave to us. I think it was about a week ago. Danny was picking the final four and he georgia to go to the final four this coming season and he said i would say the fourteen would be. George think georgia is loaded in. Georgia does not win this year. They are not going to win for a long time. And by that i mean. Get to the final four. Do you think this is the season as georgia is. Getting playoff are bus for kirby smart and his team. Yeah i've heard that the last few years in kirby keeps finding players in georgia keep finding ways to contend being a contender and actually doing. It are two different things. But what georgia's john paul. As they've stayed in the conversation or as curry says you gotta keep getting those at bats and when he finished in the top ten. Four straight years as georgia's don you recruit as well as kirby has you give yourself a chance and georgia's become known as a place that quarterbacks like to come now. The results have not always blossomed. Is much as people would like but you look at this roster now and jt daniels. Looks like one of the best quarterbacks in the country coming back. He's a former five-star they signed broadband. A grip he was a five star. Wants committed oklahoma. Now they've got gunner stockton committed a twenty twenty two five star. I mean my goodness talent is everywhere and now it's just a matter georgia finishing the job on football field. Which brings me one more comment and we don't we. Don't go out looking at other shows to bring you information. We take it from our own program. And i believe those two weeks ago booger mcfarland. We all know boogers credentials. He said this on on our show he said if you are a bulldog fan and you're going to sit there and stare honestly in the eye kirby has done less with more than maybe even mark. Rick how would you respond to that. Wow i guess. I'd say first of all you've got to get more right. You've got to have those recruiting classes in the top two or three. That's a good problem to apple and as far as doing more with less they're less with pernille they're getting ready. You can't if you can't finish the job though mike. That's i mean you're you're you're you're you're playing right in to what these guys are saying georgia out recruit anyone would maybe the exception of alabama But when are they going to finish the job. That's the question that georgia fans are asking. Yeah it's it's been tough when you win the sec. Three years in a row. And you lose to alabama in the sec championship. Game and twenty eight teeny get left out of the playoff for you. Come within one play of winning the national title twenty seventeen. I mean. i can't answer those questions for you. Know it's funny. You had ryan mcgee up there a few minutes ago talking about the late. Great dale earnhardt. He didn't win the daytona five hundred until his twentieth attempt. So those big game. Victories can be kind of a lucid. And i think that's happened for george. Remember paul kirby smart is only forty five years old. This is only year six for him. You look at how long it took guys. Like steve spurrier and nick sabin and they were six seven years into their careers before they got their national titles.
20 Years Later: How Dale Earnhardt's Death Changed NASCAR Forever
"Ryan mcgee. Espn daily's chief. Paint trading correspondent. Thank you for joining me man. That's me man when i started. Espn a really really long. Time ago and i had this accent there were like. Hey you know about nascar right. I go yes you do. More than just know about nascar ryan you have now reported and narrated a new film for east sixty and it's called intimidator the lasting legacy of dale earnhardt. And i wanna talk to you about it today because it's a lot. It's about a lot more than how transcendent dale was on the track. It focuses on how he radically changed. Nascar's culture when it comes to safety but before we get into that. I do want you to just kinda sketch out for us. Who dale was for the uninitiated here and what made him such a towering figure in the nascar universe well and it's interesting because he's been gone twenty years i mean nascar's more than seven hundred races without del earnhardt and so for those of us of a certain age the idea of having to explain him and and why he's such a big deal seems insane but we saw what the last dance. The last dance ron's and half of twitter was like well. He was good. But you know this jordan character. Yeah we should know about it and we were so offended but bless their hearts. They didn't see him play. And so in this case you know. You have an entire generation twenty years exactly of sports fans who didn't see our heart race but it wasn't just about seventy six wins seven championships and also was just about the presence in the room. Always say with dell earnhardt if there was a thousand of us in a ballroom and we're all looking at a stage and he were to come in the back door when none of us were looking. We'd all instinctively. Just turn around because the air in the room changed. There was just a presence in a way that it carried himself and conducted his business and the intimidator thing that was legit. Every time i will. I know him. And every time i was in a room with him there was a little part of me. That was just trying not to say something stupid or pass out so on the back of the baseball card ryan so to speak. What are the accomplishments. That people should know about what dale did. Well the seventy six winds are really big deal but the seven championships and seventy plus year. The stockcar racing only three people one seven championships the checkered flag bands around their heat waves to them. That checkered card. His greatest success was on the super speedways. the taliban soup speedway and daytona he one thirty four racists and though tone national speedway thirty four nella one of those was the daytona five hundred and that was part of the appeal for him was even though he was this one tough customer and the man in black timid and all those things it took you twenty tries to finally win the daytona five hundred lawson in heartbreaking fashion multiple times twenty years frustration. Taylor that program names on the can't take it off. I guess i love it. He just he was in every man but he also of superman and that was always the appeal and outside of that ballroom. Full of the sports powerbrokers ryan. What was his status. Like regionally among the nascar faithful. How would you begin to describe what he meant to those people. What i hated it. Because when he came along in the late nineteen seventies. and you know it wasn't disrespect. But he didn't back down from. Richard petty from kailua from bobby allison from david pearson from any pissed them off the couldn't stand him and he would recommend a short track race. In martinsville and afro richer. Penn is electric. Listen kid you can't do it like this. And he just kept doing his way.

"Their biggest complaint. Is they say that you know where are the kale. y'all boroughs. You know jumped out of an airplane without a parachute and you know. Follow bear inside of his private airplane. He really did those things. And of course. Richard petty with the hat and the glasses. And you know david pearson the silver fox and dale earnhardt. And like i don't. I don't see this because these young guys today. They've got a lot of personality. The problem is is that you know they answer to the sponsors. I and so. There's a lot of press shirts shaved faces from these young guys that i know that's not who they are so hopefully as they get older. A chase elliott. Bill elliott son. Who just want a championship. Hopefully as he gets older. He'll feel like you can loosen up a little bit. Went over some of those fans ryan. We will check in with you soon. I hope people will read your piece of the first one came out this morning and i was maybe first in line and of course the special on on sunday and of course the race. Who who's supposed to win it all this year. Well chase elliott's the defending series champion but denny hamlin trying to win his third consecutive daytona. Five hundred which. No one's ever done. Kelly auburn richard petty and sterling. Marlin guys won two in a row. Nobody's ever won three zero. So what's that fedex carl's onto. We'll do ryan thank you appreciate it. It'd be well. Thank you paul ryan. Mcgee who y- just hard to imagine. I mean i know that you always say this as people get older and martin time marches on but twenty years ago this sunday. If you had a television on that day you remembered that moment we will take a break more to come more of your phone call today. Eight five five two four two seven two eight five listening to the paul finebaum. Show podcast back here on tuesday afternoon. Let's check him lee. Who is up next in indiana. Hey lay hey. Paul thanks for taking my call thank you. I've got a quick for you. you know. It seems like the exercise utility verdy college. Football teams beginning coaches. Because in my opinion. Big florida gator fans. But even be deported. Gator fan it seems to me like the parody in college football especially division one college football is no longer there always the same teams that are the top that would just. Do you think that's going to change anytime soon. What is it gonna take to have that chain. I don't think it's it's it's easy to change in and that's the argument for expanding the playoffs because otherwise you're getting the same. Not only the same. School is getting into the playoffs. Every year they're harvesting recruit recruits as a result of that and the other side of. It is if you don't want more people in you're still going to get the same four to five to six every year. I'm trying to think of anyone who has really crashed party lately. And lsu is not a good example because lsu has won championships before this is a program that took a little bit of a dip but has always had great base. Georgia is on the is on the ascent clemson. I think it's a real issue for college football right now. Well the thing is is that it doesn't matter if you allow more teams in the playoffs. These teams are still going to be the teams that win. They always with because they are the best. It's a what's it gonna take another team over other teams to step up if for there to be bored parody. I guess in college football well. That's why it's so different than the. Nfl i mean tampa has had not been a force in the nfl and generation and suddenly they come in and win the super bowl so it takes the but the nfl has a different process where you can. You can draft your way back where college football doesn't have that because nothing is going until nick sabin leaves. Nothing is going to stop him. In recruiting safer dabo sweeney. Right now ohio state made a major change in coaching. Have haven't missed anything. There are no different today than they were when urban meyer was there. Oklahoma didn't miss anything. In fact they may have gotten a little better under lincoln riley. After bob stoops laughed. And you're hoping to sneak into the party like lsu has done like has done did it. Once has maintained some success but it but it's not easy getting in there. What doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon. Abortion like you said it. Till nick sabin does retire 'til dabo swinney possibly retires. I don't see it changing. I see those two being the top two teams year in and year out. It's just because they are the two best coaches right now especially say but he's the best there's ever been but i don't see that there is going to change. Where at the very top. There's going to be those two and they're always going to be playing for the national championship. Yeah let let me share this friend of mine just sent this to me and this supports your point. Fifty seven fifty seven of the top one hundred players nationally have signed with either alabama ohio. State georgia clemson lsu in oklahoma a handful of schools with nearly sixty percent of the top talent. That's the problem and schools has been to the playoffs most of them multiple times. But still georgia has only been once but has recruited at the same level. Lsu has been once in one but has been at the same level in terms of recruiting but continue with more phone calls and how about randy in south carolina. Hey randy amos fall you doing. We're doing great randy. Thank you. I just wanna make a comment about Tom brady i think. He's a quarterback and everything. But tom breeding one. Seven super bowls but but star won seven championships. Also five for the nfl and the first two super bowls so he used to win another super bowl to top. Bought star. what you think about that. Well as much as i respect bart star it was different. It was a different era. And you had the nf you had the nfl or the in the nfc in the afc at the time. So i don't think you could. There were two. I don't think the two are comparable. Well i understand what's a different era but every decade.

"Ca just cranked up the grill going on a rare by portabella spare guests a baked potato. Get ready for some bama basketball. And i'm having a crown. Seven listened to the finebaum show too blessed to be stressed today. Hey y'all two questions for you Hearing about this eighteen playoff. So let's talk about this. We might so if we go to the eighteen this year. We're looking at probably add. Texas ahah neil probably georgia cincinnati. Oklahoma and florida would have beat alabama or not you but let me let me let me say something to you though i try. I don't think that's how it would work because to get to get college football to agree. You're going to have to give them something in return. So here's what here's how it would look. You would have the five power. Five conference champions. That's the only way these commissioners are going to buy into it. And then you'll get a group of five who gets automatically and then there will be two at large so you would have cincinnati club and you would have oregon and oklahoma before you got and then texas. Am and who would in one more school would get in. Oh come on now. We can't have no rainfall allows conference trae. That's not how you and i would do it but you you have you have to remember. We're not running it. The commissioners have college. Football are sitting in that room. And that's the only way. I think they'll sign off. I can agree with you but you know what the narrative would be if it come to that but my my other thing is about the national championship game played on monday. And i keep hearing everybody's saying it can't be played on that saturday before. I really don't understand why we can't play that championship game about one o'clock afternoon and then have the nfl player games. Not until three and the other one's not until seven or eight. What a way to start your saturday. I mean you get everybody together wants to college championship game and then you got to. Nfl playoff games. I think it'd be great for college and the nfl trae. I don't. I don't think college would agree to it And i have to go to a break here because they the best ratings are late in the afternoon early evening and on monday the later you go the better allegedly and secondly i don't think they wanna share the spotlight with the. Nfl college football at least on monday night. Four weeks ago is standalone. It's the only game in town. And i don't think they would want to go off the air at four o'clock in the afternoon knowing that are two. Nfl games from. Maybe i've been around these guys too long quick break more to come. We will chat with ryan mcgee and a few minutes. More of your phone calls right around the corner listening to paul. Finebaum show podcast. We welcome you back. It's great to have all of you here on a tuesday afternoon. And then he serious. Sports fan knows this weekend. The daytona five hundred and it also will mark the twentieth anniversary of the death of the king of the sport the intimidator dale earnhardt death at the five hundred twenty twenty years ago. Still haunt many many people ryan has chronicled that not only on. Espn dot com. But this sunday in an east. Sixty presentation and ryan joins us now ryan. Thank you very much for being here. Good afternoon to talk to you. Paul spent too long. And i know that when i start talking about dale earnhardt. You're gonna wanna talk about it because that's that's your entire nascar like beat writer career it is in a somewhat ended around them. But i did did did not like you. But i was around him a couple of times and what a charismatic guy and his death ryan famous destined sports and i know we went through one a year ago with kobe bryant but too many people nothing will ever shatter their emotion. More than thinking back to that sunday at daytona. Yeah it's just the circumstances were so extraordinarily terrible and and if you had written that into a film it would have been sent back like. There's no way that that could actually happen. In real life for the biggest star in the sport to die in the final turn of the daytona five hundred as he was watching two cars the he owned including his son. Sell off toward the checkered flag. And just the circumstances were so in in in people may not know this but you know. He had struggled for several years leading up to the the previous year. Two thousand but then he got his health back order. He got his back straightened out and he finished second in the championship. Standings at the age of forty nine the year before and so there was this. Build up to this earnhardt resurgence. Maybe a chance to win a championship and finally like a a a one on one. Showdown with jeff gordon and it. Just it was. All fox was putting a billion dollars in a televised nascar for the first time. It was their first race. And so all those things that it up and It's hard explain to people paul. I was never in the room of brian. But i was in the room with dale earnhardt and and it just was always say if there were a thousand people in a ballroom all watching a screen and he walked in the back door without any announcement..

Well, it's not as long a walk as you might think. First of all, Denny Hamlin and M. J R Boys, They have been forever how that happened. Denny Hamlin is the Jack Nicholson of the Charlotte Hornets. He's been courtside forever. Their friendship is so tight. Hamelin actually wears Jordan branded shoes specially made when he's behind the wheel of his race car on the weekend. Brad finally listened Denny because of bubble Wallace and the attention the Wallace has received this year and what M J sees is a possibility. To literally change the face of NASCAR. "Two of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus years Ryan McGee it's amazing when you mention March seventeenth when or or or may seventeenth when NASCAR came back and you know the question always was it's not quite a question of if someone was ever going to test positive at the race track and just folks know it's a simple temperature check that they're doing at the gate for all roughly nine hundred people have to get into the race track and then if your temperatures up you have to go for your pull out alive and sets a further for a further examination and everyone knows it's not a question of if that's going to happen is a question of when it's gonna happen yeah and who is going to happen to it how many there are and so yeah you throw all of that into the situation that you're talking about which is also they're a pretty high percentage chance in my mind that somebody among those fans is going to try to sneak a Confederate flag in there and so in some way shape or form and I'm curious to see everyone's QC hell no struggle police said but there certainly are curious to see this weekend with everything else going on their new rules in response Ryan Newman's crash at Daytona five hundred but there's no practice or qualifying schedule drivers won't have a feel for the adjustments until the race begins NASCAR will also be on the look out as mentioned that newly banned Confederate flag Marty Smith on a trio variables heading into today's race it is a very unique day for NASCAR racing there's three variables that truly converge in the same moment for NASCAR on Sunday at Talladega first of all it's the first superspeedway race since the Daytona five hundred which of course ended with that fiery horrific crash but driver Ryan Newman who miraculously a couple of days later walked out of the hospital hand in hand with his daughter and daughters and he actually said in the aftermath of that that he is called a walking miracle on top of that like you stated it's the first time the NASCAR's welcoming fans back to the race track since the covert nineteen pandemic halted the sport some two months ago five thousand or so fans will be at the racetrack plus forty four motor homes will be allowed at the racetrack and because those plans are back now it will be the first time that NASCAR is faced with the potential to police the Confederate flag ban that we saw on Wednesday a week ago so it's this convergence of variables for the sport it's a very important day for the sport yes and how about college football or an effort to curtail the spread of the coronavirus a large number of LSU players have been placed in quarantine they just began workouts on June ninth Kansas state pausing all voluntary workouts for student football athletes for two weeks following the most recent culverted nineteen tests this is the law wives the field at the Belmont the NBA's plant the play moves forward despite a host of positive covert tests in Florida that's next this is SportsCenter all night on ESPN radio with the world when NBA star players he knows I think everyone is looking to begin it's only in our hands right now.

"We're joined by one of our favorite and most frequent guests the eloquent in the talented gifted Ryan McGee Ryan. Thank you for being with us. It has been. It has been an interesting week. If that's the way to put it in your world of course the Daytona five hundred. Most the race delayed until Monday. Horrific crash involving Ryan Newman on the final lap. You were at the hospital at Halifax Medical Center Daytona. The news was good. Where do we stand right? Now as we speak on Ryan Newman's situation well Ryan Newman is home in North Carolina Against all odds. He went home on Wednesday afternoon. I mean everyone was stunned including those of us who stood outside the hospital for twenty four hours that that right after our return home all of us did. He walked out the front door with his two daughters and so he is back in North Carolina. He will be watching The Cup race all all the NASCAR action this weekend from the Las Vegas Motor speedway from his home in Charlotte and In his plan is to try to be back in the race car As quickly as possible. Maybe even the next weekend my my gut instinct after twenty five years to cover motor. Sports is He will be back in the car that quickly but my gut instinct thankfully has been completely wrong Ever since I saw his crush so he has continued to prove me wrong and I hope that he continues to do so. What was your gut instinct? When you saw the crash from your perspective well all standing in Victory Lane at Daytona. We were waiting for them to the racing. It's the worst place at the Daytona International Speedway to watch the race. Because you only have this small window where you can see the cars coming down the front stretch. Just as they've passed underneath the starter stand and as they went by His car was airborne and I saw land Was Hit by the car of coral joy. No fault of his own. What concern me and concerned. Anyone who knows anything about auto racing is that Korea joys car hit Ryan Newman's car right in the window net and so for the folks don't know that basically the only soft spot on the race car too. That's where the driver's head is There's no window there it's just a it's just net and so that was the concern. Was that the impact was right. There where Ryan Newman's head would have been while he was hanging upside down. And that's that's what's frightened. Me Is what frightened. Everyone and I mean they're outstanding lane with a lot of old school hardened racers and they all had that look on their face like. We're not saying word until we know something and thankfully two hours later We have much better news than we expected. We're speaking Ryan McGee. About Ryan Newman in the crash occurred Monday at the Daytona. Five hundred race won for the second consecutive year by Denny Hamlin and Ryan. There was a time of course when crashes such as what we saw. Monday were not uncommon and sadly of course deaths on the track. We're not all that uncommon but that's changed over the years. What does it say about the state of NASCAR The that this was such a shock to the system this week. Well what it says. We've been spoiled. We have we become safety spoiled in the sport because No driver has has died in a crash in NASCAR's top. Three national series. That's the cup series is expanding. It's also the truck series to three national. No one has died in a race car in this series since February. Eighteenth two thousand one and that was Dale Earnhardt and You know almost quit covering the sport In the late nineties early two thousands. Because Jeremy I got to the point where every time I went to the race track I was convinced I would be covering a funeral next week. I mean I was there for nearly a half a dozen driver deaths. I was there for a half a dozen fan deaths And then when I wasn't there in person I was still having to write and produce the obituaries for the likes of Adam. Petty and Kenny. Irwin and Tony Roper. And it wasn't just NASCAR. It was also open-wheel racing. It was drag racing. It was And it just got to the poor. My wh what are we doing? And I talked to my friends who had covered the sports the sport in the sixties and they said this is as bad as this ever been and unfortunately what it took was for. Superman to die. Which is what happened when Dale Earnhardt died? You know these other guys young guys right whatever. These are inexperienced guys. That's how they could kinda write that off. Once Dale Earnhardt was gone. The toughest of the tough guy who raced with a broken collarbone race with a cracked skull. All these things back in the day. When when del on her senior was gone. It forced everyone to mandate safety devices that already existed. Head and neck restraints and close face ellison custom-built seats and the way the roll bar sentence safer barrier soft walls that we saw. Ryan Newman hit all all of the things that were implemented in the weeks after Dale Earnhardt's death or what Save Ryan Newman o-on tonight we're speaking with Ryan McGee about Nascar and about the Daytona five hundred which took place on Monday and when we saw that crash at it was so horrific it seems miraculous that anybody could be walking away from that even if it's forty eight hours later out of the hospital that picture now which is gone viral him walking out of the hospital holding the hands. I think his two daughters. Right Ryan and For someone like Ryan Newman a veteran in his forties. Who's been doing this long time? How do you expect this to affect him as he continues to pursue a career in this sport? I don't believe it will and I say that because I mean this is a guy who has done this since I mean for racer like Ryan Newman for Jeff Gordon. For a tiny Stewart for a dollar junior. You know the rest of us we play. T-ball these guys weren't quarter midgets for the rest of us. We may be played. Pop Warner football and these guys were already racing on half mile race tracks in sprint cars. You mean like when they're eight years old when they're nine years old they're they're going one hundred and fifty miles an hour. Exactly they're doing and they're in these monstrous machines and so for a guy like Ryan Newman. Who came up through the exact same midwestern Usak Sprint car ladder? As a J. Foyt as Mario Andretti is Jeff Gordon. he was. Kinda the next in that line and so you know. He's always been very critical of Superspeedway racing in NASCAR. But he's always done it and he's won a Daytona five hundred and he almost one another on Monday night and so I don't believe this will slow him down. It might make him take Paul's as a father Am I making take policies as a husband? His marriage was already That he and his wife had just admitted publicly the week before this that they were separated. And maybe this will made him make him take pause about those things. But I don't believe it will make him take pause when it comes to driving racecars. Ease it problematic Ryan in any way when you see something like that and then you see. Ryan Newman fortunately walk away from it. I if not unscathed seemingly okay. Let's put it that way that it creates a false sense of complete confidence in the safety of the sport. Which of course it isn't and can never be. That's what was so fascinating and I use that word now because I'm looking back on it. Fortunately that's what was so fascinating about that experience on Monday night and Tuesday Daytona. Because again for someone who covered all his deaths. And who who still? I'm still occurring. Deaths and other forms of motorsports but for someone. Who's dealt with that? It was interesting watching the crew members in the media core and the tracks staffers who weren't around in two thousand one because those of us of a certain age all had that look on her face and it was muscle memory. We all kind of fell back onto. This is now. I remember how to react to this. And how to handle this and then you saw an entire generation who did not and this was my column. Row FOR UCF DOT COM. Which was we become? You know kind of safety spoiled and this was a reminder because yes he literally walked away out of the hospital on Wednesday but it is a reminder that you can make this as safe as you possibly can but at the end of the day it will never be truly safe and and anyone who needed wakeup call in that. I believe they got it on Monday. Night is there anything to be set or is this just the perspective of someone who doesn't follow sports closely whose only covered maybe one race ever that. I can remember And didn't grow up with it that if danger isn't there is some of the appeal gone. I mean I know. That's that's an old horse that steps taken out and discussed a lot but but he's a true is true and there were actually in recent years there were columns written has nascar become too safe and this was the debate that I've had with people as Nascar's popularity waned as the television ratings. Went Down One of the questions that was asked. And it's a long list of reasons for for why that's happened but one of the questions that I've been asked a lot is is it too safe. Is that danger. Element gone? But you know there's always going to be the people who quote Hemingway right there only. What three True Sports? What mountain climbing bowl bullfighting and auto racing? They said everything else is just a game. And that's fine but But also like to quote another pretty good writer Bruce Springsteen Who said I like my heroes? My Gods Grizzled in alive and that's how I feel you Brusca was he said I'm going out. A blaze of glory is bull bleep. And that's That's kind of where I am with it. I I've been enough funerals a race car drivers that I will I'll try to a little bit of Of Danger to keep his guys around and tell me the stories in person as opposed to me having to dig him out of my memory well said Ryan and I think I said old horse. I don't know what that means. I think I meant old saw so I apologize for that. I try to be precise with my language. I followed you and by the way you don't remember this the first time I met you was at the Daytona International speedway. Come on the one time. Was that ninety nine. You're on a golf cart with one of our fearless field producers got Seeber's Downer shadowing..

"You could check out Marty and McGee on the SEC network. He joins US now. We thank him for doing so. What are the details? That you've found found interesting watching Ryan. What happened with two on Saturday beyond just being sad and bummed for him well? The sad embalmed part heart is the part that stands out to me because like I was in the SEC network office yesterday and is like this Paul over the billing rolling and it's not that everyone is rooting for Alabama or whatever. It's just a reminds me so much of Marcus. Lattimore who is the great South Carolina running back who had his knee you completely blown apart And dislocated Against Tennessee and he had come back from an injury to the other knee. And I'm around went down to James Andrews this place In Pensacola and hung out with him for a couple of days and I just remember everyone being so like people would never met him before being so upset and it feels the same way about two because as close as is he's just a good kid and you see saving who is you know the stonefaced unemotional robot and and he's trying his best to hold it together when he's talking about it but but the part that you now we're balancing the whole. What's he gonNA do his future and is he okay in the in the immediate the future and that's the part of it's interesting watching the NFL world in the college world and the personal world? All kind of Collides Ryan. It's easy to question the Nick Sabin now for playing to Lord knows I did it yesterday. I've spent in fact since Saturday. It's all I've done is blamed for but I'm wondering. was anyone doing it on the front end. was anyone saying that we should not have played in that game. There was a little bit of it. I mean there there certainly was And you could even hear it in the voices of the folks that the cover that team day the day whether it's the beat writers or whether it's the home team radio guys who. I was listening to on satellite radio and so there was a little bit of that. Starting which is you know when he tried it out. There for that drive in particular is like I. You know this is probably going to be you know you Kinda Kinda feel that so. Yeah I think there was a little bit of guessing guessing on the front end. But you know people don't get inhabit of of of guessing went of second guessing a while he's doing it But Yeah but after the fact obviously obviously you're not alone. I think we're all like you know what the hell were you thinking. ESPN senior writer. Ryan McGee with Marty and McGee is on the SEC Network Art Ryan. This is To his injuries. Similar to the one that ended Bo Jackson's career. What's the foundation of the optimism about to making a full recovery recovery? Well he's younger You know I've got a fifteen year old daughter. She scrapes her knee and heels in like two days. I scratch my face shaving and you got that scar all mark mcghee for the rest of my life has just you know. It's good to be young and it's good to have those genetics and obviously we've seen him recover From pretty serious injuries series. Before and Bo Jackson was older Bo Jackson Got Back on that hip a lot quicker that he probably should have and then obviously the medicine is way better than it was then so I think that's where it's coming from is there's A. There's a track record. Unfortunately that we've seen him recover You know from a pretty significant significant surgery he had after the SEC championship game a year ago and didn't play great but he certainly played in the cost of all playoff just five weeks later so History history says he will recover This is also just a completely different monster. I mean he he will not throw a football until way after the first of the year and he's certainly position to to be working out for anyone and again it goes back to Marcus lattimore. I remember Doing his pro day at University of South Carolina and he just walked walked through a couple of of pass routes and he got a standing ovation from the NFL scouts. Because everyone knew how hard it worked at that point so To is going to be. You're doing anything strenuous for a long time. And I think that's smart because They might a rushing back a little quickly last year. How much money does this cost him? How far do you imagine I'm dropping? Well I think the bigger question is did you go back to school You know no one's talking about that much. He has a year left so you know. Does he go back in and does he spend a year with that medical staff. Alabama's really good and James Andrews is just down the street and they have lots of helicopters copters airplanes to get him where he needs to go and does he go back to Tuscaloosa and spend a year and and yeah he plays but the more important thing is that he He rehabs and a pretty good situation. So but yeah I mean he's he's dropping like a rock right now and the and again we've seen this before with other players that You know somebody will roll the dice on him if he does enter the draft and I think that will work out for them but But you know I. He listened to me but but if I was talking to him I would say seriously consider perhaps going by Tuscaloosa for your risking injury for no money so that would be the advice. I would give him. I would say. Let's let's play it out this way. Right what if I told you he's going to recover. Spend a year not gonNA play football and all he's GonNa spend that time recovering from this surgery from this injury and then go back into the draft Rath. Heck yeah no I think you would if he recovers the way that everyone seems to think that he's going to recovers the way that he has in the past. I think you know go somewhere. And let the people do what they have to do. And don't rush it because you know he's still a kid and there is still a year to play with here no matter where he spends that that year so yeah I mean go get better you doing Tuscaloosa do it back in Hawaii do it. You know at some camped. None of us can afford to go to do. Do something Just to get yourself better and I know it well enough to know I mean patience is kind of his thing and you know he. He's a meditative type of guy so so I wouldn't be surprised if it exactly what we're talking about if He does stay in the twenty twenty draft. I guess that's a given that he goes after Joe Borough and and just in Herbert but uh how far do you see him. Are you talking about. Are you thinking that this might be second third round fourth-round some of the stuff. That happened a lot of more. There's just too many question marks and also I mean quite frankly you look at this year in this quarterback crop that we got. I'm not sure he wasn't dropped into that group a little bit anyway and so now You know if he's getting in line behind borough and is getting loud behind fields or whoever else of his former teammate. jalen hurts he gets in line behind these guys anyway And now you had the injury. Yeah I think it's if he's drafted. It's going to be a somebody that says all right. Let's sit here. Wait and see if we can say say it Ryan McGee was going to be a patriots. Just go ahead and say break the new just say just say it and and by the way the like the only person person that possibly can ever make village smile nick saving and you know they've already been on the phone you know care immediately called. Hey I'm really sorry but this guy being heard what do you think my chances are getting them in the fourth round. The day permitting the Lago ought not fair now wondering you've even heard all of the vague on purpose. This is the greatest possible reaction. I could get the saying that because there was a second where I thought do I say it out loud and then I did and it was everything that I dreamed that it it would be Ryan. Thank you for being on with us. We appreciate it. ESPN senior writer at Checkout Marty. And McGee on the SEC network. Thank you sir. "New direction and with playoff team so we interrupted we always always love those commercials. All of you know the happy music in the background and makes it seemed like the side effects aren't too bad if you have you know anal leakage and spinal fluid fluid build up as long as you can get control on your sniffling. I want to continue the thought. That Greg Greg Cody was having here and writing what it is that I take is doing with this Afro of Colin Kaepernick has been behind Stephen a Smith for two straight. Today's nonstop and I wonder what you guys think when you hear and I've heard a lot in the media got a kowtowing her job interview if you WanNa work when you. Here's Stephen Smith. Because he got there immediately with Colin Kaepernick does not want to play football. When you hear that allegation filed that accusation filed at Colin Kaepernick? You guys think what I think. Colin Kaepernick wants to play football. I think Colin Ellen Cabinet also wants to continue to deliver the messages that he's been delivering and it's a big platform playing the NFL's opposed to not playing in the NFL. Have A lot. More ears is a lot more eyeballs on them. I think Colin just I think he feels like Hey I am good enough. I shouldn't have to do this dog and pony show. You just signed me. Just the accusation itself the accusation itself. This guy doesn't actually want to play your thought. There are what I think. It's a flagrant accusation and if capital says says it's not true Kapernick says directly. I'm ready been ready. I'll continue to be ready. That sounds like a guy who wants to play. And it's ridiculous that he's had to go through this Organiz his auction when Or audition for the past two and a half years. Any team in the League can call him up for an interview. Fly Him in for a workout give him a physical. Why is it starting now for two and a half years he's been blackballed out of work? NFO quarterback free for any team to sign and now all of a sudden they have to hold and organize workout. It's ridiculous reason that I find that criticism interesting though is because it plays so much of the absolutism that you find find sports debate as if it can be that thing and only that thing it's only allowed to be he wants to play in the NFL or or he doesn't want to play in the NFL as if it can't be he wants to play in the NFL and also he's got other things that are principles other responsibilities that make get a little bit difficult for him to go in now with the kind of knee that the NFL is going to accept and so it can be both of those things. It's allowed allowed to be both of those things because it is both of those things on the other end for the employer because the employer would like his skill set in that league and and not as much as it wants to keep all of what happened this weekend out of its league and so all of these things are allowed to coexist exists the part that I marvel at Marvel at this till my dying day in sports so many of you are employees so many of you listening to this our employees who work for bad bosses or bosses who are unfair and you go home and you're complain to your wife or your significant other of how you're being wronged by your boss and then in this instant your pro management and you file it under Pro America but you're pro- management you think he should go in there and grovel and beg for a job humbled to play in the NFL. Even if it means compromising principles that mattered to him that are what are making him the mortar that he is in America in fairness to those people I agree with everything. You're saying here in fairness those people they're probably saying. Hey that's what I would do if I had an opportunity to leave the job of currently in and play quarterback in the NFL talented. Then be better what you do. ooh Don't envy another man because he's better at what he does than you are. What you do is more valuable at what he does? Then you are what you do. I'm thinking about this for a while. How many of these fans that are questioning? His motives remember the original message why he was protests in the first place. Because I don't remember at all well. The My mentions are a dumpster dumpster. Fire where people just want to talk about this guy's skill set or whether he's past his prime and I'm I'm more interested in the way that this is being talked about about specifically on television and specifically on this network where Stephen a Smith is banging the drum for this is the status quo quote. This is the reality of the world. We live in Colin Kaepernick. You can't make this a circus. You have to go in and placate the white man even though all of this stuff all of it risks the discomfort of the white man like. That's you don't get attention on this stuff unless the white man is made uncomfortable the white man runs that entire sport at the very highest level. The people who are hiding the bushes on this are the owners. Yeah Stephen is saying you can't have it both ways you can't play in the. NFL continued to do the work. And say the things you want to say and bought a lot of people bowl myself included. Feel that college. It'd be able to do exactly that but I ride with Max Kellerman on this. When I'm watching? I take and I see that Stephen. A Smith is protecting the status quo. Oh well Max Kellerman is sitting here telling us be better be better. Don't protect the status quo like leads it. Lets US spire to be the country that we are and this this the. NFL's brand is one of the top five brands. In America. Be Better of of course. Kapernick should be allowed to play for an NFL team and also continue his his protest by kneeling during the national anthem. If he chooses always right the whole narrative has been hijacked. It's not an anti-american protest. It's an it's a social justice. I I don't WanNa have that conversation again. We've been having that conversation for three years what I want to ask the audience is. Why do you need this man to beg? Why do you you want him to beg to these owners? What is happening inside of you? That makes you feel like he should bend on a knee or both knees if you prefer her and begged to these rich people. I'm trying to tell you most people if they were told they had to beg to get into the NFL to play quarterback and make millions of dollars. They can be more principled than that because they're bigger causes than being the backup quarterback for the Raven. was this begging though. This is sign a waiver is it. This isn't this begging and to your the point about the NFL being better. They're probably throwing their hands up screaming. We're trying we're trying. Yeah we didn't nail it we try to putting a workout. At the Falcons conciliarity. We hired Jay Z. We don't know what we're doing with any of this. We're trying to be better and yes. It's embarrassing trying. Okay be better than that. I'm trying not enough for your time on enough on the rings on Mondays when we're sitting here covering football try. Philip rivers was trying last night. We being nice as the him about trying to drive for three years. This is the best I could come up with. Come on Jay Z. We all liked him before. NFL Seinfeld. Now you're hiring can be a slow slow process cafe alturas Co.
Zion Williamson out of Duke-UNC game for knee injury after blowing out his shoe
"With last night's big story and that was the Zion Williamson injury. If you happen to miss it. Of course, he was the big game everybody that was you know, everybody excited going into last night's nine PM eastern tip off UNC Duke. It's one game that everybody gets excited for every year. And especially this year with giant Williamson and everything he has done for the blue devils and thirty three seconds in Zion goes down. He tries to make a move near the top of the key plants, his left foot and his shoe. Disintegrates he blows out the shoe to a point that I don't think I've ever seen anything like that grabs the knee unable to play for the rest of the game. Do goes on to lose big at home. Final is eighty eight seventy two sixty two points of those eighty eight that UNC scored came the paint clearly a huge hole left by Williamson. But the big question that everybody wanted to know after the game was is. I n okay is his left knee. Okay. Coach K, please. Tell US House I doing so mild knee sprain. Nia stable. We don't know how long he'll be out. I think we'll find out more about that. It's crazy that the two games we've lost here. Something's happened in the first part of the game. And the preparation that. You would have for the game is obviously based on. Your players being there, and especially he and Archer who are who are the key guys. And so it puts everyone. State of. Trying to figure it out while while you're playing outstanding team. That's not a good situation. And obviously Duke did not figure that out. That's coach Mike shoshefsky. And this is first and last I'm Gabe Nigel on ESPN radio. But it seems that John is going to be okay. The fact that coach K called a mild knee sprain. Is of just a knee sprain. Seems that whenever there's the potential to be something worse with the knee teams will throw out the generic term knee sprain. But coach K getting a little bit more specific they're calling it a mild knee sprain. Saying that the knee is indeed stable still don't know. How much time Zion is going to miss them guessing going to miss some time. But the fact that it seems that he is going to be okay. Makes it okay that we all made jokes last night about Nike's expense on Twitter and on Instagram on Facebook on social media, and poooest gotta know betterman Puma even sent out a tweet Puma was throwing shade at Nike because the shoe blew out. And every story that I'm reading there was an ESPN dot com. You're you're reading the story. And specifically you see the Nike shoe like Nike just continues to get thrown under the bus, his his his left Nike basketball shoe fell hard as he planted tripling near the free throw line on the opening play. That's from Ryan McGee over at ESPN dot com. And it was blowing up so bad on social media team people going after Nike that Nike had to release a statement this morning. We are obviously concerned and want to wish I on a speedy recovery. The quality and performance of our products are of utmost importance while this is an isolated occurrence. We are working to identify the issue. But then Puma jumped in they deleted the tweet but come on. This is social media. You can't throw up a tweet, especially one that's gonna throw some shade. And not have everybody notice and have people grab screen shots. So while Puma Puma hoops deleted this tweet. Happened in the Pumas Terry Rozier, even getting in on the action come over to Puma. Everybody had jokes about oh, everyone. Adidas under armor there in. That's the those are the shoe company. Science going to sign with after he leaves Duke this year. Seventy having a little bit of fun at at at Nike's expense because the shoe blows up. We're being honest. I think I think Nike's built up enough. Goodwill over the last three decades of basketball shoes. That we can have some fun with it last night. But after that, it's all going to be forgotten that it was necessarily a Nike shoe that blew up on Zion. And I guarantee it has nothing to do with zion's shoe decision. When he heads to the NBA this

"Your host, Ivan Mozelle. Their long time. No talk. Welcome back to campus conversation and happy new year. It's January second twenty nineteen. I've been Mazel. Here's the man just said and to nurse you through your post bowl post holiday hangover. We're going to have a slow talking version at this conversation today joining me the southern boys the fellow southern boys Ryan McGee. Hello, Ryan, Ivan. How are you? I'm just telling you guys before we hit the record button. I managed to stay away from all the germs until the very end yesterday about halfway through the Rose Bowl. I went off my throat hurts. But that's okay. A power through may almost to the end. And I'm just so happy. We're going to be spending the weekend together in Santa Clara knowing this gonna give you a big Hello. Oh, boy crisslow is here as well. What's up Seila? I've and I have it on good authority that Ryan has changed his seat on the plane to sit right beside you glass, right? That's right. I'm not telling him what airline I'm flying on much less. The airport. It's will come as no surprise since the games happened Saturday. But also since we've picked and when I say we I mean, everyone take Alabama and Clinton is one to August. And here we are January and Alabama's one and Clemson is too and they all going to play in Levi's stadium. Monday night for the national championship for the third time in four seasons. It's been a an interesting New Year's six bowl season. A lot to discuss about. Thoughts about expanding the playoff thoughts about Alabama. And Clemson one more time. There's a little more coaching news. You know, very sad story coming out of Purdue. We're gonna get to all of that. When we get out of the tunnel. Time to come out of the tunnel on campus conversation. You know, I it's been fascinating to hear the reaction to the way in which Alabama and Clemson so easily made their way through their semifinal games over the weekend. Clemson dominating Notre Dame, thirty two three Alabama jumping out to twenty eight nothing lead over Oklahoma coasting. The forty five thirty four victory. Ceelo. Good or bad. Is this a good thing or a bad thing for college football? Well, I'd see if you reside in Clemson, South Carolina in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It's a good thing. That's a very small population. Yeah. I know. Come on. I get a kick. And I say that facetiously out of the people whining and complaining about its boards. Tired of seeing these two teams played listen, they're the standard now Alabama. And Clemson, that's the standard college football. They cared. Obviously more about football. They invest as much more than anybody in football. They have to the best coaches on the planet. Both coaches love to recruit they loved to evaluate that's the standard and everybody else catch up if you don't like it, then work hard do more about it. I'm old enough. And you are to Ivan to remember the tail end of John wooden dynasty at UCLA. And there were these and I was a younger kid, but these I can remember my dad his friends talking about how they retired seeing UCLA went all the time. And you know, it was just boring. Well, people eventually caught up, and that's just the way sports is. And I don't think it's bad for college football. I enjoy seeing the best play. You know? I enjoy seeing these two teams who marry other a great deal in the way, they built the programs. The coaches are really good friends. I think a lot of people realize it's how Sabin and Devo have connected over the years. They're different types of personalities, but they get along. Well, but they built their programs in much the same way. I enjoy watching excellence I enjoy watching teams and programs and people who achieve and these two programs have Cheever as well. Or better than anybody college football. I agree with everything you said, and which doesn't make for very interesting podcast. But I think I don't know Ryan the way I look at it is..

"This is campus conversation now, here's your host match. Schick? Mac ally. There was a lot of confusion yesterday monks. The three men. Tasked with hosting this podcast today match Schick, Peter birds and Ryan McGee. We're three guys who live in Charlotte who thought about hey, let's go into the studio issued Arlit the ESPN U and SEC network studios. And we'll do a nice little show together. And we were going to do that. And then the text change its text exchange turned into a lot of confusion, and I'm just lucky we're on the air Peter here, and it's my fault. Listen because I was like I got all gung ho, listen, I can make this happen. Let's go ahead and get everybody together. And then I like guilt trip did Ryan McGee into going then McGee says, yes, then all of a sudden, you have a lunch date with your kiddo. And I'm like, well, my wife has also watching our one year old daughter who's one year old today. Happy birthday PO. It is one hundred percent my fault. And I once again, I fall on the sword for holding this podcast ever have one of those this Ryan, by the way, you ever have one of those text exchanges where it just keeps going on. And at some point, you you hack, you actually have the text typed, please remove me from this conversation. Send it or not last night. Josh. When are we doing the thing? Tell them to tell me I like MC mcgee's, Texas. So after all that back and forth. We're going back to the original plan. I feel like I'm dating my college girlfriend again there you go. And if she's downloaded this and listening what she's not she knows what I'm talking about. It see, but this is like when big bands get out, and they go on their own separate, you know, incredible individual careers, and they try to get everybody back together. And they know and it never works out. Now, I understand while these big bands never get back together, which it's just too impossible with the logistics. I'm so I'm so I'm Lindsey Buckingham. I was cut out of the loop. And y'all went on tour. That's basically what we're talking about. I didn't wanna pointed out, but we did. Let's go play some music here and get out of the tunnel. Time did come out of the tunnel on campus conversation. We'll get into the Maryland situation a little bit later on. But let's talk some college football. I hear with the initial top twenty five rankings from the college football playoff selection, committee saw them last night, ESPN Reese Davis and the gang holding it down. You heard from rob Mullins this election committee chair as we learned what we guessed would happen. Alabama one Clemson two and that's not a surprise strike. The schedule emphasize when the margins are slim when teams are comparable. There's no they're not comparable to Alabama. Clemson they're in their in their own ranking step so to speak. So it's Bama Clemson, then LSU then Notre Dame at four that Michigan at five Georgia at six Oklahoma, seven Washington state, eight Kentucky nine and Ohio State at ten UCF hanging out there at number twelve dead. The cub any get it. Right. Peterberg? I don't know what you can and cannot get right in week one. You know, Oh, right. right. Like. Like, I mean, I see it. Everybody rushes to Twitter, and I was a victim of it as well too. And getting out there going, I can't believe this and oh how about that? But I'm like, listen as soon as I see Alabama coming in at one and LSU number three, I fully. Well, no, it's going to change by next week by the time that we're rolling on campus conversation on Monday, I'm thinking, all right? We will have this thing change. I listen. I liked the college football playoff rankings show because it's so intriguing to see the committee spokesperson have to come in there in front of the firing squad and get like weeks of practice to get ready for how they're going to talk about their rankings. But at the end of the day, I don't think anything really truly surprised me maybe outside of UCF being ranked behind a two loss university of Florida right now, rob Mullins, by the way will join us on campus conversation tomorrow too bad. We can't see his new specs. He was those are shark art. Yeah. He seemed much more comfortable than..

"I mean, listen, this is great as some of the games war particularly, you know, the Penn State Ohio State game, whatever wants was still talking about at one o'clock in the morning. Last night was holy cow. Would've you're Clemson and it's like worst case scenario. You had two great quarterbacks, and now you might have half of one. And so I think that that's really what everyone was another sort of walk into the press box Shafran. So we've been talking, we're talking to Ryan McGee is spent senior sportswriter. We've been talking about it, Georgia, Ohio State in Alabama. We're kind of thinking they're kind of on a collision course for this playoff and everybody else seems to kind of be like a Buster Douglas these these teams that we don't really think when it gets down to it can can win, but maybe they can knock out a champion who are the teams that as you watch all these games as we're watching the season unfold. What team do you think has the most likelihood to maybe knock out the champ. Well, you know, I feel like somebody has to put the of the perfect night. Like, you know, I feel like LSU could do it, but they can't make mistakes. And they have to hope that that album does. You know, Auburn could do it, but they have to hope some help. Notre Dame I think is in that group. I think you know going into the weekend, I felt like it was ele- Bama and then a big gap back for the next three and two weeks ago I want to set the next two which was close in Georgia, but after seeing how state person after seeing Dwayne Haskins in person. And yes, I know it was two lane, but after seeing him in person, I'm thinking, all right. I think if they have the perfect night and they got a little help, you know, well, there's some flags or whether it's some injuries or whether it's just somebody on a bat night, then they could do it. So I, I would put house state in that group. I could let her name in that group after last night. And so, yeah, I think. And then there's this group of guys that I don't. Leave are good enough to make the playoffs that probably we're going to have to win their conference, but they might be good enough to ruin it for someone else. And that's the next for down. And you know, it's the Syracuse group. It's the grief that we all agree then on the national championship. But you know, like yesterday if they catch lightning in the bottle of them, I have a chance to complete the torpedo. Some Icees another one of those teams maybe Kentucky with the way that they're looking and they're going to be hosting John. Mismatch made for days my man making. Clemson at our output, Missouri and Kentucky count in that same group. Yeah. And Missouri almost. They certainly give Georgia bigger headache and anybody expecting. And I really believe particularly with the band up there, I really believe Kentucky could do the same. He has Ryan McGee eight. Right. Make sure you do not take off your shoes on the plane. That's all I'm asking just know stinky feet on the plane. That's just I know. Marty probably does that just be better than that. Okay. More use them since about thirty rows ahead of me on the plane. So I wouldn't know what he does. You know what? That's why he's a man of the people. He's Ryan McGee Ryan. We appreciate the time travel safe. We'll talk to you soon. Income boys. This is the best week ever with Peter birds.

"This is campus conversation. Now, here's your host, Ivan Mozelle. Yes, I am not. Peter burns as was promised in my apologies for that. It is Friday, September twenty first twenty eighteen. We are twenty four hours or so depending on when you download us from the bulk of week for got a little taste last night with temple drilling Tulsa, I've in MS l. here's the man, just said, welcome back to campus conversation. We actually have not just previews, but a lot of news to discuss. And when I say we, I mean fresh off his wilderness set lodge from another successful show of Marty and McGee. It would be which one is this? I guess it's McGee Ryan McGee as Paul finebaum calls me mardi Mckee. No, it's. It's if if us successful broadcasts, you mean we weren't cancelled as a Friday morning then yes, it was successful. Well, it is only eleven four eastern time. So let's give that a little time also from Adam unwritten Berg another great show on some network. Adam written barg. What's going on? Yeah, that is a hit show. Hey McGee. Are you guys ever going to auction any items off the set? Or can anyone get those as maybe birthday gifts at some point? Yes, sure. Dana. Yeah, I think a lot of it just came like from whatever your local homegoods, whatever. So yeah, I can hook you up just have to run down to the store. Okay. In all seriousness, who who was the wardrobe person on the show? That'd be us, I think, but you didn't like my Star Wars t. shirt. Well, I was just curious the, you know, the motif, the design, the thought process behind it this. So the set was designed by. I mean, we have set design people to use span and they did it in conjunction. No, no. I'm not making soap with a gun Atlanta and half. The stuff on our set is like from his house like we had to go by because when we moved to set the Charlotte, he's like, dude, this is from a house. I have to take this home. We're like, all right. Then I guess we're headed a Home Depot. Don't touch it. But how do you decide? I mean, is there like a cache of of t shirts at the McGhee state? Do you? Did you go out and buy that on EBay? Wh. How do you select what t shirts you're going to wear? Well, I have a lot of people were like ju just Bob much of Star Wars and marvel t shirts for because you're a company man and for the show I'm like, I didn't buy anything. I had all that in my closet. So and I and I don't need to buy anything new from what. So I have lots of t shirts with captain America Darth Vader. Well, there you have it. Okay. Well, we've we've rapidly driven into cul de sac on that subject. Let's talk some football. There's actually a lot going on a big injury at Ohio State. Some interesting redshirt news at Auburn, an update from Chris low in the middle of the night on the Alabama quarterback situation. And Nebraska finds an opponent to replace Akron, all that when we get out of the tunnel. Time to come out of the tunnel on campus conversation. At the top of the news on this Friday morning, Ohio State Buckeye defensive in Nick Bosa. One of the best players in the country had surgery yesterday to fix a core muscle injury and urban Meyer said yesterday, there is no timetable for his return. I can't stand how cryptic people are with injuries these days, and and coaches are all hiding behind the hip Alah. But that's a topic for another day. Both the suffered the injury in the third quarter of the victory over TCU last Saturday. He already had four sacks this season replacing him. Adam, sophomore, chase, young, who. Made no tackles against TCU last week, but had two sacks against Rutgers the previous week and also had to hers, which is the most of any of the buckeyes through three weeks of season. So apparently even the soft Moores who don't play a lot, have some talent in Columbus, otherwise the Powell and hide car going by you, which one which exactly what that very good pal and high dairy native thrown out. Some knowledge, chase, young is a name people should know..

"Season is week. One boys into help me break it down my man, Adam written Burg and Ryan McGee and Adam this I'm starting off this season being polite and not calling you them written burger. Like I did seventy five hundred times on either my radio show and Sirius XM or the campus conversation podcast. I feel like it's all about re inventing yourself into eighteen my friend. I appreciate the that the kindness and the formalities. I actually prefer to be called father of not so many as match. Schick as match. Schick is now forevermore father of many. That was the standing introduction. He gave himself yesterday. What what does he like? Jacob Hester former LSU running back legitimately has like a van, twelve passenger van because he has so many kids how many Schick up to the Potomac, six or seven as well or what. Think he's got half a depth chart deep, but yeah, yeah, he's he's a, he's a busy man. That's that's the thing McGee. That's what you need to start doing and your family, like family reunions, doing what college coaches do in like the and or like these starting, like whoever makes the best ribs is like number one or that you can have an and or in your depth chart for the for the next day. Barbecue. Yeah. And I used to. I mean, I got a friend from college had like five, but then I went out to San Diego. I guess it was two years ago and did something with Philip rivers and is eight kids. And at some point at some point, you just hate yourself at some point. You just don't. I think I figured out why he does this commute to LA now he's just trying to hide in the car. That's all three hours. One way, three hours. The other way I got work. I'm good. I'm good. All right enough of our kids. 'cause we got college football to talk about, let's come out of the tunnel. Time to come out of the tunnel on campus conversation. All right, where we are done, we're talking season. It is playing season as we start looking at week one. One of the things that came out yesterday as we start doing campus conversation every single day because college football is here is a different story lines..

"In that same podcast uh both peter burns and ryan mcgee we're telling stories though about football signing day and win they've been covering certain teams and appear burns mentioned he was at a at a school on signing day a few years ago and that school was that it was an announcement that was coming up and in that schools hat their cap was on the table with this guy big time crude was about to announce and he said one of the assistant coaches he looked at and say what do you think you're going to get him and the assistant coach said now he's havana we're not getting him he said well how do you know he said because he asked us for money and we said we wouldn't give him any and then of course he picks a cap of a different school brian magee said he had a similar story where he was he was at a place and the kids about to announce and the assistant coach told him we're not getting him because i see you see that gold cheney's wearing around his neck right now he said i know who gave that to them and that's the school that he's going to go with it so i i don't want to act like football's clean basketball has bigger problems but there's enough stuff going on in football that there is a chance that if this thing starts to snowball bit football could be involved in there could end up you know they're they're could end up being some schools takes them hits in the same way that they will for basketball and the federal government gets involved in football you could have you jewish your destruction here it will football and basketball and i'm surprised that hasn't happened already with for example the old this investigation because any borders gets busted for the executive described brad they know who's doing what and for them to keep their mouths shut and just take their medicine and take the sanctions without giving up somebody else to have those sanctions lowered i think there might be a good old boy network in there that something that nothing to do with that.
