"Uh, specifically, but the NFC portion of the bill schedule, which, of course, came out last week. We talked a little bit about the Saints. They will play the NFC South. But they also have the new 17th game this year, and the crossover matchup is with the Washington football team, so we'll find a little bit more about them. And, of course, you knew I was talking about Ryan Fitzpatrick, the new starting quarterback. Joining us from the team. 9 80 is Chris Russell. Chris, It's Howard and Jeremy. Good morning. How you doing? Good morning, guys. How are you? It's great to be back on and in buffalo, N W h e or how are you? I'm good. I bet nobody's calling you today. I'm gonna ask you about Jared Paterson, which I will end in just a little bit. I guess that's not on the list of things you're gonna have to deal with today. That's all right. But I mean, for whatever it's worth, he looked like he has a little juice and a little bit of wiggle. If you could tell anything from a 16 player, rookie minicamp and one and one running back one running back being in the camp because they had a bunch of tryout players come up with Cove. It's so whatever you could tell, he looks like he's got a chance. Yes, in a lot of people in the in the division that will be talked about Dallas because of Prescott coming back now the defending champions are Washington. How good will Washington be this season? I think they're I think they're slightly above 500. In terms of overall record. I think their talent level is probably better than that. Art. I mean, if I'm being honest with you, just from the standpoint You know, you look at the additions they made you mentioned Fitzpatrick. And obviously, you know, Buffalo. Everybody in Buffalo knows him. Curtis Samuel William Jackson, the third who was playing in an NFL abyss in Cincinnati. You look at Chase young being in this second year. He was a little bit banged up in his first year, but then eventually got it going. You look at the rest of that talented defense of line. Which the bills all offensive line is going to have to deal with in week three in Buffalo. You look at the talent on this team, and it's it says it's better than a 500 ish team. But then you look at the gauntlet of the schedule. Not only did they have to take on the first play schedule as a seven and nine team from a year ago, and I think that records a little misleading by the way, But on top of that, then the 17 game comes in which leads us. To Buffalo, and you not only have to take on a team that was, you know, Ah, good half or a little bit more away from a Super Bowl appearance, but also having to go to Buffalo and, yeah, they catch a little bit of a break that it's in late September, as opposed to late December or January, which everybody knows, but it's still it's a 17 game. 12. It's against a great team. Buffalo three. It's in Buffalo. And the fans obviously will be a much bigger factor than they were last year. What have you so you know to me? It screams nine and eight ish. I could see 89. I can't see much more. In that either way. What you know, you mentioned Samuel and fits, of course, part of the auditions key losses and that they have any key losses in the off season. Um, well, Ronald Darby, I guess what would count as as the biggest boss. Um, he's starting corner, but they honestly they upgrade. Now they have to spend more to get William Jackson, the third But Darby was solid for them. The problem with him is he was exposed in man coverage a lot. So like I was already fearing him, you know if they would have brought him back going against the Stefan Diggs And how that would work out and and that would have been only one guy that he would have had to deal with. So Jackson plays a man coverage style press man that they want to be more of this year. Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator, longtime NFL head coach played, you know roughly about 60 to 63% zone last year. They want to. I don't know if it would be completely flipped that Nice, but but they want to be much more man and aggressive, So I think that's enough grade for them. They lost. Kevin Pierre Louis is starting weak side linebacker. They'll fill in with Jamie and Davis, the first round rookie from Kentucky. Or Coe cuts and who was drafted in the fifth round at Michigan out of Michigan. I should say last year outside of outside of that, honestly, that they didn't really lose anybody. Of any consequence. I mean, if you want to say Alex Smith Okay. Um, I mean, Alex was unbelievable. Warrior Captain leader all of that stuff, but I mean, he could barely move and it was painful. What? It was painful watching him be in pain quite honestly after he came back from the leg surgery. Who's with their defensive lines, or chase Young has turned into a one man wrecking crew, like the kind of guy would give coordinators nightmares the week you have to try and stop him. Who else is it? Is it just deal with Chase Young? Or is it as a group A challenge is that where the and is that where the strength of the defense lies? No doubt? No doubt that and that's important to note that it's not just chase Young. I mean, Chase Young is phenomenal. On D is gonna be even better this year than he was last year. Now that he's kind of figuring it out, But when you watch chase young, like he still has to develop like some secondary pass rush. Moves. Sometimes he'll use spin, but it's not effective..

"The playoffs. Which active quarterback has beaten. Tom brady the most times all right. I'm feeling pretty good about this. But i'm not going to gloat. I'm thinking individuation Not his current version but his old division. I'm thinking ryan tannehill the team that he lost. Who last game in new england is it ryan tannehill. They always go down to miami and lose right. The answer is ryan tannehill. Why are you not gonna look you got it right. Because i did want to be embarrassed but i got. He's gonna get some trash talk and text today. Imbo that is correct. Tanny hill beat him. Five times rothlisberger. Ryan fitzpatrick and joe. Flacco have each beaten. Tom brady three times dominic right. Meanwhile let's talk about where. Tom brady's first loss is going to come. This season a little bit later. We'll start with kansas city. Dominique the chiefs are good. What's the first game they're gonna lose. I'm figuring october seventeenth might be attract game situation coming off of Excuse me coming off a tough game. they're going to have to go into play. Washington in washington. Front floor is going to be a problem. I know that the chief Revamped offense blindster be better but that front four we know is the only way to get presser on homes and make him less. Mahomes ian swaggie. The forty niners should be back and better than ever where there i was gonna come. Gm going week five to the arizona. Cardinals remember taylor jones out all last year. They go inside. Jj watt. i think this team is ascending. Hopefully column berry learned from some experience to go down the stretch. I know people are not all confident clip.

"Man touched a ton of touchdowns, a lot of potential, but you gotta rein him in. And now you've seen how it's unfurled is a feeling that's different now with Justin Fields, and it is during that time, Jeff No, You're absolutely right, Hoody and just to emphasize how the excitement level is bordering on the ridiculous but in a fun way. I don't know if you guys follow Eric Lambert on Twitter he do he does. Bears for sports market is great. And I saw this tweet night contemplated sending it to a group of bears fans who I haven't text quit, but I decided against it and then within 10 seconds That same group text sent the tweet to me. Eric On Friday, tweeted out Justin Fields went to a receiver after running the wrong route and practice and told him how to fix it in his first practice. Was just amused by the fact that at rookie minicamp, we're getting excited about Justin Fields, telling a wide receiver. Hey, this is what you did wrong on that route. This is what you need to do, whether you know whether it's an in break or you need to know. It just has me laughing that we're getting excited about the quarterback knowing how pathetic we've been, but it look, it's great. And this and that wide receiver. His name was Alan Robinson. Don't kill our bodies, honey, but it's fantastic. And it just goes to show the difference between Justin Fields and Mitch to biscuit. Yeah, leadership, right. 3123323776. So one weekend and Alice all four passes for that the media got to see And all of a sudden everybody is just over the top loving it. Not surprising. How excited are you for the 2021 Justin Fields lead bears 3123323776. We go to Bob in LaGrange. What's up, man? You guys missing the whole point, Gentlemen. Seven lives is going to start. If you that shop he's had great. He's going to start that game. What? You don't have to wait. COLUMN Mary started. He didn't have the weight definitely feels the best quarterback the best ever had all the test scores. No, he can flat out play. Let's just sit down and wait behind and adults don't leave within three games. Maybe he's not that good. He give a chance. He's a veteran. Why didn't Dallas keep Dalton and the dog ended up Bob? What do you want to hold on a second where we're having a conversation? Okay, sure. You called us. So we have a conversation with you. So you're gonna call him with the same comment over and over again. No, let me finish. Let me finish because you call them with the same things. I'm going to respond to it. So the idea that field is the best quarterback the Bears ever had before you take before he steps on the field is not such That's that's That's number one number two is like anybody else. Trevor Laurence in a situation with the Jaguars, who's the backup? Tell me since you know the Jaguar so well, tell me the backup of the Jaguars that travelers has gotta beat out. Yeah, man. You don't ask the questions. Yes, he was going to start with God because they think that's not know the answer The question. Who's the backup? That trouble Lawrence has to beat out in camp. He was never going to sit on the bench. Okay, who'd ahead? Okay. That's my That's my point. You don't know you think Wait, let me finish. You have a feeling that like there's some kind of bias against field because he has to wait. Listen, they what they brought in Andy Dog to be the first quarterback let feels go through the process and let him beat him out. Let me ask you a question. What is given to down $10 Million. You know, I'm gonna be at one year. 10. Men, please doesn't pay. But he was $10 Million. How good. You think Andy Dalton yourself didn't tell me. We already talked about it in the first segment that we know what he is, Bob. We know what you have other women turning dollars. It's not my money or your money. It's apparently and that's what Ryan Fitzpatrick got. 10 million. That's just what the job pays. Okay, so let him win three games at home movie New I love the new video games and the dog. Well, he's not. He's older. He's abandoned, but he can't run. Let the process play out, man. Let it lay out that don't pass it. That they let the kids play that complaint. That's Joe. Pass it. If he can pick up everything, let him pick it up. If you can't throw the ball if the kid is truly what you and I, and every bears fan hopes he is He will win the job. When he's ready, he will play and if that's September 12th great if it's not whenever he's ready, will know he should be on the field period. Appreciate your call, man you love. So we appreciate the phone call. Don't keep calling in with the same thing of a comment, believing that the Bears have some inherent bias against Justin Fields because you don't know Bob because you keep calling with the same thing. Let me just tell you, Trevor Launch is gonna take on Gardner Minshew. Which one would you rather start of? Menchu was a late draft pick late trafficking to give him every opportunity to succeed. This is why I travel. Lawrence's anointed the starter that just because of his draft process, where he was drafted, but it's also because he's a better quarterback and garden men shoot today. All right. We saw Garden Menchu correct. That's all. Uh, here is He shot my brother Francis. This morning on Andy Dalton getting the first team reps again. This the guy was the number one pick in the draft..

"But yeah, I've gotta put Kansas City Gonna cheer by itself. You have to no matter how close buffalo is to Kansas City. If they're they're still not neck and neck. Yes. I don't think that you know, until we see it happened on the field, and so we see them beat Kansas City on the field. It's hard to say that they're They're even with the Chiefs. But you know this could this could be the year I think that You know, they're obviously pretty familiar. With that opponent at this point and week. Five will be a great opportunity for them to show that they belong in that top tier. I was asking Howard Marcellus, Week five is really the season opener, Getting getting a little bit greedy about all that, but you know it, Z We'll start the season and you know Pittsburgh's to go to toe opponent after that, three maybe not cupcakes, but I think you're right. You know, it's all about measuring up against the Chiefs, and that it's week five is early enough. That kind of No, it feels like that's when we'll really get a good idea of whether not, the bills have improved and how much though Yeah, I agree, although don't don't sleep on that that week, three game against Washington Man. Washington was not a bad team last year, especially with Fitz coming in and quarterback. Ive just never know what they're You just never know what Ryan Fitzpatrick off. That's just gonna do. But I can't tell you that. That defense is gonna be stout again in year 200 Round Rivera. But the other than that those first four games of the season you look No, that that block is relatively easy. It's probably the easiest four game stretch outside of you know, dolphins, Jags jets and Colts. But You know, it's It is. It is early enough in the season somewhere like there. It's not a point in the season. The Chiefs game where Okay. They should relatively no. Who they are by that point, but it's also early enough that okay, if if you get exposed in Kansas City, you've got time to correct it. It's an interesting point of the year, but it should be. I mean, it's Sunday night for puff or for a reason, man like that is gonna be in actually game and in Washington. You know they had Curtis Samuel and Ryan Fitzpatrick, throwing to a number one receiver and Terry McLaurin. It'll be interesting to see if it's is as lovable around here if he beats the bills back to, you know, all of a sudden we won't love him so much. I'm about to say, What's the limit? Where's the? Where's the cut off point for you, Fitz? Well, when he beats the bills, that's the kind of if you disobey or the Patriots. He hasn't played for New England. Yeah, that'll do it, too. I think Well, Marcel, listen, thanks for coming on and you're off season. We We apologize for bug. And yet we hope you're enjoying a little downtime, but it's always great happening on the show. A man told me never bugging me. Always happy to talk bills, and I appreciate you having me on man. All right, But the thing about four bunch you know till the season starts it feels like Like football talks hit like a fever. Pitch out here. Yes. So maybe four weeks to go. So you know any any opportunity to come make that wait a little bit shorter and more than happy. Don't ever say that, Marcel because we'll be bugging every week and I don't want to do that to us. Oh, thank you, sir. Appreciate it coming on with us. You have a good one? Yeah, right. Marcel Marcel Louis Jacques, His work is available. He covers the bills for ESPN dot com. And that's the funny thing to Jerry about your schedule to the point you were talking about earlier, like Kansas City being the season opener. When you get when you're this good when you get to this point. That's what happens. You know the bills in the first four games A lot of people. Well, I think they're going for now. You might think they're going a lot of people would. You wouldn't be obviously surprised if they went for no. Even though Marcel says, you know, look out for Washington. Don't sleep on them and You know Pittsburgh? Maybe that maybe the offense bounces back when you're the bills and you're this good. You think they're winning 12 games 13 games 14 games. You're not really if they go for No, it wouldn't prove anything like you wouldn't. You wouldn't think wow the bills or even better than I thought they beat the Steelers. The Dolphins The Washington football team in Houston doesn't prove anything. The first true game. Approve. Something is Kansas City and for that matter of the game the next week after the Chiefs game is the Titans, and that's when you're that good. It's I know what you said earlier. It doesn't mean I'm I'm not getting. I don't think I'm getting too cocky. I don't think I'm taking anything for granted. But this is when you're this good and the expectations were that high and I agree with Marcel. There are no obvious flaws or holes on this roster. You look at him go. Well, then, I mean, the only thing that could happen would be something bad, like you're not. Oh, well, you didn't look that good against Pittsburgh or you lost the Washington crap. What's gonna happen when you play the chief's those air games? You're supposed to win, and then you look at Ken sitting go. Okay, Let's see how good you are 2021 bills. He's probably right to remind us not to sleep on Washington. It's a at the very least, it's a It's a very good defense. I think And like, he said, maybe fits fits with the weapons. They have their makes that a better offensive team. Last time we saw them, they gave a game to Tampa. I mean with with their third string, fourth string quarterback So I think the bills will beat them, But I don't think you look at that. Houston you look at and go. Okay, that came cakewalk City, Washington. Not as much now I'll bring up my stat of the day for you. I had this once before. I'm gonna mention it again because Marcel brought up to up and you know something that we say about two a lot that I think you think And I think and Is a little bit of context to one number on his passing stats. And you could you could say it says something about to art says something about Justin Herbert. Okay, It's simply this NFL next. Gen stats has this That too. A tongue of Milo is average depth of target. That's one way to talk with step to target the other way to say it is intended, airy ARDS. Right two has got this reputation of not really throwing down the field. His intended heir yards last year was 7.7 yards per attempt. Justin Herberts was 7.5 about over again that it doesn't necessarily have to mean anything. Neither one of them was really all that high and effectiveness is really important. The players that finished below two and yards per attempt and intended heir yards in terms of throwing it down The field. Justin Herbert, Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater, Roethlisberger, Newton Dalton. Brandon L'm, Dwayne Haskins, Nick Mullins, Jared Goff, Drew Brees, Jimmy Garoppolo and Alex Smith Like some guys do not throw it far. We've known that, like Drew Brees made a career of not throwing it that far down the field, right? So For two..

"Five hundred too tired extent. Those kinds of crazy to go yeah. Bribes were allowed that way. So so you go through your this amazing career with the bulls you decide to play one more year in seattle What was that like for you. Because it's hard to know when is win. You know. I played fifteen years and you know you ask that question okay win. Is it time you know. How do you know when it is time. So how'd you know like a game. When i go to seattle and then give you know you just kind of figure it out from that point. I knew because i can. Roy got hurt failure. I was close a lot of times. Aware i would get. I would be like in the air. And i can remember house as a player. stretched a lot that i can remember almost see my muscles me. I suppose i was really torn my knee up tabs that year. So as like while you're kohl's and also where a man i can't react somewhere in maybe i would have to be Do a power boo as opposed to a quick Because of pulse upton you be academy know. You're you're you're right dirty up but thinking about it now. I play twenty years. I should have just kept trying to play more. You know my buddy ryan ryan fitzpatrick on his eighteenth year. And i'm like dude play brevard so i get it. Yeah we could have definitely done that. So like bob appears players like twenty years and twenty years itself. You always quit but doing something else. After i got up once again ups could it be business and ended up the right back the nba. So i know maybe it was just destiny. Yeah maybe it was. Do you think the nba has changed a lot since you came in. I mean obviously. I mean this man for the bulls now. I can't remember his name but he shoots like threes all the time. I'm thinking in my head. Like viewed have been taken threes back. When you were playing you can do like no no. That's our job while as you not slow confusing to wear basketball like every sport. Everybody's report shooter. Everybody's a home run hitter. Everybody's has the ball three yards off For guys like big heads. So i really talk traffic. Justify it because it's a because everything got back around to wear low. They'll start playing a more rounded type of games jump shots reports shops all this mess at usually run playoff support. They do that It's a little bit funky right now because of govan and because maybe not practice time that or at least that just yeah every sport i still is crazy and football and the end of the game i threw a sixty are past that does get caught. You a slag and get the ball there. I think that's crazy too. So what the hell happen at. What beating did that happen where you'll have against ball so we just crazy things that happen ever sports at route just bugged atari thought i just. I just tried to the watching the dreaded joy. maybe i'm gonna see special during the course of the game. That's what i'm interested in. Yeah yeah it does make it really really hard to watch. Three is gone out and pendulous. These lack of skills play Five gift basket roy. You play twenty five eight five eight. Yeah so you know it does. Look you guys played right. You guys were like the offense was waiting for you guys get set up and it was more of like big man block basketball things like that like obviously there was three point shooting in different things but today just like bring it down. Throw it up. Let's go and let's like the big man's they don't even give chance there just running back and forth you know it's like back in the day when you guys were playing. It was like a s. What i live to watch right when i love big east basketball like in college. I'd love watching all those guys play like. That was kinda how it was. Just a lot of banging. It doesn't seem a lot of that anymore. Skill your been sure. It may be a pick and your best both sky. Maybe your boy car slow or but if the patch dictate something bad match ups but you play basketball a year you know. It's it's it's rounded sport. It's not one type of game where what everybody baseball's how ready you got lead up guy. He's already entered. Its see. But i i always believe everything works. Its way out and comes back around. So now someone's gonna come. Hey we could bust up again. This guy's a genius both scored the basket and shoot it elbow jumper. I saw somebody shoot it. Elbow jumper like what they still not shoots that anymore. So is just what's going on right now but it's just wait for so i know you've coached different levels and that was hard for me when i went from the nfl. And i coach my son's youth football team. Like i had all this language in these skill sets in my head and trying to relate. It to kids was very difficult for me. How have you made the transition. Because i know you've coached at many different levels. Just go and lock. It's it's every kid's and say you all don't really high standard but to me that she's teaching a basketball so thank you I call jim. I could hall slow and also situation where they've been successful. Probably my most fungi. Onto what i ended opportunity i to japan for a year i took over to i. Nineteen we were able to give them for one thing at identity subs able to look at this team and Tell me gets you guys. You guys are back with scores but you guys are ever love chain so great defense we attack them at twelve gates a row justice.
Washington QB Taylor Heinicke thinks it'll be "a fun battle" with Ryan Fitzpatrick
"So washington signed ryan fitzpatrick. It was assumed he would be the starting quarterback next season. But taylor heineke isn't setting settling for the backup spot. This looking forward to competing with. Its patrick he said it's going to be a fun battle. We're going to hopefully help each other. I'm looking forward to picking his brain getting better as a quarterback in that way and whatever unfolds unfolds but again. I'm excited for the addition. I'm excited for this offense that we've put together don't get it. Don't really understand it. The mystery team in league do not get
Did Washington Do Enough to Push Dallas in the NFC?
"Did washington football teams teamers and the giants do enough to push dallas in the nfc. So i left philly out. I don't yeah. I just don't i am found anyone who really thinks they're going to be competitive. I mean let's wait and see got jalen whatever. But that's a team that they're not really fun to talk about. Because their free agency considered like stripping you know but i mean they did sign at harris for like nothing which is probably better sightings but what you have in jalen also you serianni. Yes hundred percent but washington in york both very active and did interesting. Things i think are worth discussing because dallas after the dak prescott deal was finally done. They've kind of made a few moves around the margins adding kia neil. Getting tied as kind of swing. Tackle still have question marks at adra sure and coroner but washington like i think they might have had my favorite free agency or at least the one that i'm most excited to see. I don't know payoff on the field. So just to recap. They signed the aforementioned ryan fitzpatrick one year. Ten million dollars. They tag branch eff. Who's there Pro bowler guard. They signed william jackson from the bengals. Cornerback three years. Forty two million dollars and then added panthers wide receiver. Curtis samuel for three years thirty four point five million dollars so just starting like let's start here. Do you agree with me like do you. Do you like what they did. And do you think it makes them an actual competitor in the division. A really like what. Washington did You know. I think among the guys among the quarterback that they could get because not only were they never in it for russell wilson or or wherever really going to be competitive for shawn watson You had to start looking okay. We'll what's realistic. And it's the ryan fitzpatrick coming off his best his career. It's an andy dalton and whereas that really gonna lead you I think that there was a lot of interest in marcus. Mariota he still is not able to sign with another team because the raiders are still holding him hostage But so. I like the quarterback. Move because you're essentially saying let's build up the team the and let's have the strongest team possible around the quarterback position where we don't sell out just because we have to for that position free agency. Maybe they make a move at the draft for a guy that they have their eye on. Or maybe they just say let's. Let's keep the boat floating this year and let's make our move Next free agency. So i thought that they probably overpaid by million or two on curtis samuel. But they wanted him And and ron rivera really likes them. Obviously william jackson an incredible deal You look around and you need another pass rusher and they can they can probably keep ryan kerrigan as a third down specialist if he comes down off his number end so you know he's he's still doing that. He's gonna get paid a whole lot of money. I'm not sure that that money is really out there especially at this point in free agency so they didn't want to mortgage their future for for quarterback right. Now they wanted to keep the boat afloat. I that and so. I like what they have done. Specially on evens. Then when you consider the the sort of offense and the pre-snap that they can have with all those offensive playmakers. Now that curtis annuals there with terry corn. I really like with done.
"ryan fitzpatrick" Discussed on The Kevin Sheehan Show
"Anticipated. Swinger i look. I love watching him play. Always have he's a guy that's gonna throw a lot of picks though he's going to take a lot of chances he's gonna you know what he's gonna do. He's going to do what you want them to do. Push the ball down the field. He is not going to be afraid to push the ball down the field and stretched the field and then he's not going to be afraid to come back underneath to the running back the tight end after the field has been pushed and stretched cooling. He's absolutely the nice thing about him is. He's the guy that's gonna appear. Operate your offense at a high level high love. He's just gonna make mistakes in. Its i bet. Some of it's the rex. Grossman thing can't see everything little. He knows where he's supposed to go with the ball. He knows the timing. He has the anticipation. They're just some things that he doesn't quite. He's more mobile than rex grossman. Yeah that's. I'm not them necessarily as overall players. But i'm i'm suggesting that some of the throws down the field. He knew it was there. He just didn't see something or maybe could get to the check down. How team does he played for one. Two three four five six seven eight. This would be his ninth team. Yep no more than that more than that. Nobody at two three four five six seven eight nine thousand nine. I will almost guarantee you. There's nobody that's played for nine teams and made more money than ryan fitzpatrick maybe chase daniel. But has the latest now ryan fitzpatrick's made more money. He's cooley clear his. I wanna make sure i'm clear on this. If a lot of you don't like sam darnold. I just tend to disagree can get into that commerce. I wanna talk about darnold okay. We'll get to that here in a moment. I i personally think that. There's something about darnold that i would be intrigued with but you know i. I want them to feel really strongly about it. Just like they did stafford you know. So if they felt really strongly about sam darnold that he was the right guy and we can talk about what it would cost to get him. You know i'm for that you know. I'm for if dak prescott were actually available. I in favor of them. Taking a big swing at dak. I don't think he's going to be available. Same with watson. Obviously you know how. I feel about watson but if they end up missing or not having chances on you know. The long term franchise quarterback. Because they've already you know through their actions admitted that they don't believe that. Taylor heineke or kyle allen doesn't mean that they're going to be right and many many of you might end up being right because they may end up being forced to start one of those guys for sixteen games and maybe we'll find out that one of those two guys is the answer long term but in the meantime knowing that they're out there looking for something they miss all those guys and then they start thinking about bringing alex back on a restructured. You know backup deal. At four to five million with a bunch of incentives my preference would be to go get ryan fitzpatrick and have him compete in more likely than not be the starter next year because his cooley said he smart. He's a leader. He's eagle less. He's worked with young quarterbacks like to before he had that team humming last year and they decided because they didn't think it would be the year that they needed to go to to to find out what they had into the tools. Ready to go you know. But he had the they were often running. They were foreign three you know. And then then he had her three and three or whatever they weren't he was playing well and then to a came in and they won some games and they were still in the hunt and then he had to come in and bail them out against the raiders. And i think they. I think they would have had a chance to win at buffalo. Had he started that game now he wasn't going to start that game. Brian floors did say Even though he bailed him out against the raiders that tool was going to start the game against buffalo in the game. They had to have to make the post season but the team that he would be coming to would be very similar to the dolphins. The team. he was on last year with one exception. There's not a top five pick at quarterback sitting there but the defense is young and good getting better. they've got good young talent various positions across the field. And it's a team that really needs some leadership. And you know veteran savvy at quarterback whether it's helping in the quarterback room who know kyle allen or taylor heineke or being the guy himself like to me. You put brian fitzpatrick in there. If you told me right now ryan fitzpatrick start sixteen games. Alex smith starts sixteen games next year. First of all. I would tell you that alex smith can't start sixteen games next year. He just is not going to happen. But i would tell you that this team would actually have a better shot at at at winning a at at a winning season with hopefully a even a better defense and maybe another weapon on offense. And here's the best thing about ryan fitzpatrick you don't have to trade draft capital for him. You don't have to trade player capital for him. He is a straight free agent. You just go out and got plenty of cap space and you sign him. You release alex. Smith you end up saving money on the deal. If you swap. Alex fitz fitzpatrick for alex smith. And for those of you that want to say you knew. Alex smith's record and you know ryan fitzpatrick's record and very familiar with both of their records. Alex smith is played on very good teams and ryan fitzpatrick. Hasn't alex smith is not what it used to be. And we saw the physical limitations and ryan fitzpatrick year. Older is physically capable. I i would prefer the fitzpatrick option much. Preferred not over. Sam darnold over shawn watson not over jameis winston or dak prescott but if it comes down to. They want a veteran. They won a leader. They want a guy who might be able to start. Sixteen games forum. Worst-case be a backup to taylor heineken. Kyle alan. i'd rather be ryan fitzpatrick. i'd rather be fitzpatrick. But you do have to start to consider where you're going to get your quarterback because now you're saying okay. We're gonna have ryan fitzpatrick. We think we went ten eleven games. That's gonna put us about twenty next year and first round gets their quarterback. We can draft at that point and quarterback we can acquire at that point where we're going to get this guy however moving forward. Are we going to have a bridge guide. Just avenue bridge guy because we can believe this year. We believe we can win this year..

"Was ryan fitzpatrick in a game late in the season. Cooley against the las vegas raiders. The dolphins had to win a game. The raiders had to win to stay alive in the playoff hunt and ryan fitzpatrick came in for a very ineffective to tongue. Vai brought him back in through that. Unbelievable throw that you just heard to holland's the receiver who caught on the sideline fitzpatrick's head was getting twisted around. They threw fifteen yards on top of it. They kicked a game winning field goal and they were alive and well in the playoff race in the afc. The next week in a game they had to beat buffalo to get in. He couldn't play because he had co vid. A related issues. I think there was a contact tracing thing and he was held out of that game and buffalo destroyed to a m e knocking them out of the playoff picture. Now here's why. I'm bringing up ryan fitzpatrick. There were two different. Espn dot com stories. The last two days. Maybe they were both yesterday. Whatever one was a story in which each of the beat reporters and analysts for. Espn took a swing and a couple of questions. One of the questions was who will. Washington's starting quarterback being twenty twenty one and the other one was a field. Yates story. I like field. He does a good job where he went through the entire league and predicted the starters for all thirty two teams. Now i'll start there real quickly. mahomes brady rodgers. Russell wilson shallan. Lamar jackson cuyler. Murray ryan tannehill justin herbert baker mayfield deck prescott. Joe burrow matt ryan ben rothlisberger kirk cousins. Derek carr jimmy garoppolo. Jalen hurts to a tongue of i. Low a daniel jones and drew lock were the quarterbacks at he had staying put and being their teams starting quarterback in twenty twenty one and then he had all the teams that he projected a new starter with l. Going to have matt stafford. Detroit's gonna have jared goff carson. Wentz is going to be an indianapolis trevor lawrence in jacksonville. Jameis winston in new orleans He had marcus mariota to new england. He had justin fields to houston. Zack wilson to the jets. Sam darnold to the bears. And then he had shawn watson to carolina in a big trade and then for washington he had ryan fitzpatrick in the other story where they had a bunch of reporters and analysts answering the question. Who will washington starting quarterback in week. One and twenty twenty one b. Kaime wrote sam darnold instead. He thinks they're going to continue to try to make a big move at quarterback This guy I forget the guy's name. Clay whatever's fell first name. Is mike claes a fantasy writer. He said alex. Smith jeremy fowler said. Sam darnold dan. Graziano had cam newton. Jason reid had sam darnold. Kevin seifert who i love. Had sam darnold. Seth walder there an their analytic sky. Had cam newton field. Yates is i mentioned had ryan fitzpatrick and then matt bowen. Former teammate of yours who's been. Espn analyst for several years also had ryan fitzpatrick and he wrote he could fit is a short term short term option. Scott turner's offense. Fitzpatrick is an aggressive veteran thrower. And that would allow washington with more off season additions at wide receiver to create explosive. Plays on offense if they strike out going for somebody. That's more long-term. Sam darnold trading up in drafting justin fields. Or whatever that move might be. I would love this. Eight to ten million is what is deal was in miami eight million base salary a lot of incentives based you know that could could get him to fifteen million so figure. It's you know an eight nine ten million dollar deal with some incentives if he ends up being the starter ends up leading them to a winning season for me. It's really simple. If they strike out on everybody else. I would much rather have him than alex. Smith what do you think yeah. I'd rather i'd much rather have ryan fitzpatrick as the starting quarterback than alex smith. I i feel so bad for ryan fitzpatrick who's really just never had the legit chance chance in buffalo for a couple of years. I guess but if i could go to tampa and you got jameis winston you go to miami and drafting a guy and i mean even last year in miami. It's like we're gonna see what we have in rosen. We know what you can do in two thousand nine hundred twenty nine thousand nine but we want to see. What this rosen kid. Looks like we're losing a game. Just get ryan. Back in there against us and ryan fitzpatrick's give no chance to win games. Is they get down the stretch last year. And then they're winning games this year. And they're yeah but we gotta find out to us so we're gonna pop to it in their did a great job though ryan. I feel bad this guy. Who's not only a heck of a quarterback. But i think a really good teammate. A good leader obviously was smartest guys in the nfl. I just i would be flying with fitzpatrick. We just both know that. That's a one to two year answer at best based on the track record fitzpatrick they're going draft somebody or somebody else's going back in their thing with patrick that's like if you look through his career he's only played sixteen games three times in his career right right but but a lot of time in those years. He's not he's a sixty three sixty four percent completion guy which i think in turner's offense would probably go up a little bit because of the short stuff but.

"Deal for india. My opinion you have washington offered no chance no chance. They don't want that drama. I mean i look. That's what cost that's hurt philly on on the value. I've heard two names. And i've asked about every other name in the two names already mentioned are darnold and They like justin fields which would require obviously trade up Whence first of all wasn't gonna get traded more likely than not within the division but I haven't heard and i haven't seen anybody report that washington would had any interest in once. You know you love the player. I'm intrigued by the player There were games this year. You know. And i i think if you go back and you watch how he played against the forty niners in week four five when they were winless at that point and they still were super banged up and the niners at that point. We weren't sure you know how bad they were. We still thought that they were the defending champions in that they were going to be good. I remember that game. It was a sunday night game. The eagles had to have it and he will them to that when he ran. He threw against that defense. He was beat up by. Everybody had no time to throw it in fact every single philadelphia game. I watched this year. He was under siege from the beginning of the play until it ended. And you know. I'm not saying that. I'm in love with carson wentz. I'm just saying that he's a hell of a lot better than he played this year. That offensive line struggled for over two years. He's had the is as much as it gets. Inconsistent weapons guys hurt. Banged up not playing. Not there now. He's going to play for what is presumably the best offensive line in football. No doubt in indy coach. Who really will run it and stay balanced right guy. Who knows him really. Well a guy who i bet you went trust and might be one of the only player. One of the only coaches right now in the league that went trusts is a good fit. Do you know the interesting thing about this is. The colts had interest in car and reach out on car before they did. The went straight core. Not going anywhere. No and that made it clear that oakland likes car. But i just think it's interesting much as i think this fits for india. They still were interested. In derek carr before they were interested or before they made the offer on wins and impart cav. Maybe they just looked at those two is comparable and trade values instead. Let's see what the trade value for car is and that will help us. Negotiate the for wentz. You mentioned that offensive line. Quinton nelson is might be a top ten football player in the entire league when that top one hundred list comes out in the summer where the players vote. I'm gonna be really interested to see where he turns up because he's good as any guard. The nfl is seen in many years. Ryan kelly's an outstanding senator. Remember all the issues. They had with offensive line when andrew luck was there will. They have focused on an offensive line and it is deeds dominant. So he's going to have the best offensive line that he's played behind. He's also got some weapons there. He's got you know t. y. hilton. He's got parris campbell. He's got backs like justice. And taylor and heinz in then marlon mack got hurt last year and mack was really good the year before and that cheaper at tight end do we played with. He's got die like jack doyle as tight end. So he's got jack doyle as well mo- alley cox who really good this year. Yeah laycock's compla- and indie keeps their first rounder. This year they didn't have to trade their first rounder this year. So you know they they can potentially add even more you love ever f- loose. He's a first rate defensive coordinator. They've got first rate defensive talent. Look the colts one. Eleven games this past year and had buffalo on the ropes in that playoff game in buffalo. I mean they had a legitimate chance to win that game. Legitimate chance to win that game. And i actually in in hindsight think the colts were to better batch up for kansas city is more balanced team with a quarterback who would never panic right last year. This gives india chance. In my opinion this also will really validate wentz or condemn wentz. This is a this is a definite. Yeah you you got position for your spot in the league. Good team good line coach who everyone believes in and he believes in you and he believes in you if this doesn't work or if you hear reports that went to the problem he's done. Yeah i completely agree with that. This is this would be like if you know per per usual she and brings it back to kirk cousins. This would be like if kirk didn't you know wasn't playing well in minnesota which he has played well Kyle shanahan or sean mcvay sign kirk. That would be. That would be his last shot. 'cause you'd have to guys that love him more than anybody else in the league And this is carson wentz given now the the differences is there apparently are legitimate character leadership red flags on carson wentz. This is something that we didn't really know until the philadelphia inquirer article from a few weeks ago. So if it doesn't work in indy year right he's done like are not completely done but in terms of being taken seriously. He's done so i mean if there were odds on this. Would you bet on wednesday. I wouldn't indian winds. Because i would. I would too. I think it's a perfect fit and for those that want to say well if you feel that way. Why haven't you been advocating that. Washington go after once. Well this subject was never really a subject worth thinking about. Because he wasn't there they weren't gonna trade him within the division and then the other part of it in this is what i said when it first became clear that philadelphia may move wentz if there are red flags character and leadership red flags on a player. Ron rivera is not going to have that player. A part of this culture change. This is what's important him at that position in particular. So he's not gonna roll the dice on a talent that he thinks could be potentially a pain in the ass from a leadership stamp when he wants that quarterback to be a leader. He wants that quarterback to be the face of the franchise. Sure so. I don't think once would have ever been in play and i doubt that he ever was. I don't know that for sure. But i doubt that any i mean other than somebody saying what do you think about carson wentz. I can't imagine that a serious conversation was about carson. Once i will. I am interested though to know whether or not there's been any serious conversation about ryan fitzpatrick but more importantly i want to get your thoughts on ryan fitzpatrick and i'll share mine with everybody as well. Right after this word from one of our sponsors tricking. That's a thirty four yard. Given and those flagged down as mass that.

"So i figured i'll crank the defrost your way up there and let it sit for fifteen twenty minutes and when i come out i can just drive the car as i was walking to the car. I did not take my sidewalk to the street. I took the grass which was just a crunchy. You know the white because of all the sleet. We got yesterday but there was a sheet of ice on top. When you're walking on grass. It's easier i get to the street and eat is a sheet of ice and the driver's side was on the other side. It wasn't a sidewalk or my house side. It was on the other side street side. So i walked around and i could feel like it wasn't great. I had the slip on shoes. That i just slipped on not the that i was going to wear these slip on there. I don't know there's some brand that's gotten really popular. What is it like q u or u. I don't even know what the brand is at my wife. Got me the shoes. they're very comfortable. They're slip on shoes but they're very slippery anyway and they're very popular. Apparently they're very popular. Don't know the name of so. I walked around to the car and i go to sort of try to get to my car door and i am slipping as i'm getting there on in the middle of the road and know cars side street. It's four forty five in the morning at that. And i start to make a move very delicate in a delicate manner toward on your cloud on your cloud shoes in whatever shoes i had and i start ice and i start to go down in. I'm going to go down front forward. Because i took this step. I slipped backwards. And i started to go down but your boy. Your boy was back in the day a decent athlete in pretty coordinated with quick hands. I got my hands out. And i grabbed on to the door handle. Here's the problem. And i'll share this with you in a moment grabbed onto the door handle which kept me from doing a face plant. But i sorta win. Three quarters of the way down knees hit the ground. But i didn't do a face plant which i was. If the car hadn't been there it would have been bom face. I right into the street but the problem is you know. When you're key gets near your car. Everything unlocks automatically soon. I grabbed the handle. It pulled the door open. As i was going down just yours. Just instantly unlocks unlocks. If i if. I just walked by the car with the keys in my pocket. Unlocks you know i. I just got this. Just got this car like two months ago. i haven't figured out i i gotta go back and figure out all the key settings whatever shore but i went down grabbed it in the door sort of opened and i smacked my head on the way down on the door as it opened but not nearly as fat is it would have been had the car not been there but it was. It was a mess. So i i was able to get into the car and then turn it on and then delicately walk back into my house and i just let sit there for twenty minutes and by the time i walked back out i walked in the other side because the other side was close to the grass. The passenger side was next to my lawn so i went in that way and climbed over into the driver's seat rather than walking around again. I thought that that would be a better idea which it was but I you know i isis. The absolute worst. I love snow and snow is easy to me. Snow is easy to drive in. I've never had an issue driving in snow. I like driving in snow even yesterday with the the roads completely covered in in sleet not freezing rain. It was with you the other day that i explained the difference correct. Yes so freezing rains. The worst sleet is just gonna you know pile up not like snow because snow is drier and but i don't mind driving in it but i'll tell you what man when you get this freezing rain and freezing drizzle. That's this shit. That really is dangerous. And that's the thing down in texas will. texas has had a lot of issues. I mean have you read some of the stories about what's been going on down there you know in the south it's crazy. The weather the power outages the people you know there have been lots of deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning. You can't people just see you know you can't get into your car in a garage or an.

It was not pleasant around here yesterday. Cooley basically the forecast was for a few to several inches of snow. And then a lot of ice and basically what we got in the metro area like the immediate metro area where you used to live in. Virginia you probably. I'm guessing like you got two to three inches of snow in the ice. We got no snow. We got all sleet and freezing rain. And it wasn't even as much as we thought it would be however overnight with temperatures well below freezing it was there was freezing drizzle. It was drizzling and freezing on contact. This morning when i got up and i it was funny because i am glad i thought it s i got up at my normal time which is about four fifteen I jumped into the shower. Got out of the shower. Went downstairs made some coffee Jumped on the computer. And i'm sitting there. And i'm like shoot. You know what wonder what it looks like outside. So i walked out the front door and everything was a sheet of ice. I mean it was. There was like a glaze everywhere. And i looked at my car and i could see. It was basically covered in a sheet of ice. So i did a m- walk to my car and with the intention of starting the car and letting the car run with the you know the front and rear defrost her going so i didn't have to go ahead and chip away at the ice on the windshield. I had some time. So i figured i'll crank the defrost your way up there and let it sit for fifteen twenty minutes and when i come out i can just drive the car as i was walking to the car. I.

Anyway kevin she and show is cooling kevin friday Carson wentz got traded a couple of stories out there about ryan fitzpatrick landing in washington will get to that And a couple of other things. I did wanna tell you real quickly that this morning we had a very Much of a bust of a forecast on the storm for free yesterday. How has it warmed up out there at all. I mean i know you said it was going to get into the twenties or thirties at the end of the week and that would seem balmy is that is that what happened. Yeah it's it's warmed up. It does seem balmy but it starts cold everyday. It starts at ten right ten eleven twelve and then Today's going to warm up to thirty two. But we've talked about this in the thirty two different than virginia. Just thirty two hits thirty two like nine o'clock and it stays thirty two the whole day here in wyoming if it says thirty two. It means it's going to touch thirty two for about nine minutes and then go back down right. Yeah i mean you have true like I think they call it radiation cooling like when the sun goes down the temperature drops like a block if there are no clouds and therefore like when you live closer to a big city you have a big city heat. Island effect and the radiation cooling like clear skies. Don't work it doesn't work in the same way. When they're lots of buildings in lots you know less open areas so even like you at thirty two you may drop tonight to like. Six under clear skies who was cloudy would probably only drop to like eighteen or nineteen. But we i don't even know why we're getting sidetracked here. "Take a look at the. Nfl games this weekend can we. We got into news today. You had it in the update their about ryan patrick. I don't know how much that line is gonna move or not. Maybe half a point or a point depending on how you feel about it. I i know the that is had said that was going to start this game and i still think that that would have been the case. But as he says that closer doesn't have the closer now i. I don't know like kim. I still feel like the dolphins are a fantastic bet if buffalo. Come sunday at eleven. Now that may be and arizona because officially when collor murray is healthy. I think that line is gonna jump. Also i think we can go to five or six. Who they've thrown out there in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick to figure out if they have Their franchise. Q. B. You may have seen the reports that kind of sprinkling out over the last couple of weeks ever since he got the starting job, despite the fact that they were three and three in Fitzpatrick. Is a guy that really brings a lot of energy and great leadership. The reason they went to to, uh According to reports, it's because they want to know if they need to go back to the draft. And start looking at quarterbacks or to a can be the man moving forward and considering the number of times the Dolphins have been hit or miss on quarterback since, say, I don't know. Dan Marino retired. They want to make sure they've got the right guy. And so yes, there right in the mix in the A, F C and now are above 502nd place in the East Division ahead of the New England Patriots. When was the last time we said that? But they want to know if to Ah can be the face of their franchise or because they've got some high draft picks Houston being one of those right they had Houston's draft pick in 2020 and Houston's terrible Right now sitting on one win, and so it could be a really high draft pick. So they want to know is to Ah going to be the solution at quarterback, or do we need to keep looking? It's

This is what was expected of Ryan Fitzpatrick. And this is what his entire career has been. This is what his season this year. Has been for the Dolphins. You can feel sad about Ryan Fitzpatrick being told your time is up. But Ryan Fitzpatrick he has had games this year where he's gone. Three touchdowns, zero interceptions. He's had games this year where he's gone. Zero touchdowns, two interceptions. He's had games where he's thrown. You win, and he's had games that he has thrown you out. And this has been the story of his entire career. Ryan Fitzpatrick understands his role. Is he disappointed? Yes, I'm sure he is. But there's there's no surprises. There is no sadness. There's no What was me. You know if you if you are an NFL fan and thankyou, Adrian for calling up from Texas If you are an NFL fan right now. If you want him as a stop gap If you want him as a quarter, unquote back up to educate he could do that on the field off. So what's on the Bolo got his his education in six games on the bench. He didn't have preseason snaps and everybody is different. But they feel that he's ready to go. If you really love Ryan Fitzpatrick. It's a simple question. Would you take Ryan Fitzpatrick as your starter? Do you want him? Ah, whole season. Do you feel confident in Ryan Fitzpatrick that he's going to take you to the playoffs and he's going to compete for the title? The answer is no. He's not. He is who he is a 38 years old. He ain't Patrick Mahomes. He's not Lamar Jackson. Yeah, I'd barely say he's Nick Foles. Come on. He's the guy who will you bring him to the gunfight and he shoots you in or he shoots you out. There's no in between. There's no middle Ryan Fitzpatrick was taking you to No man's land. Choose your own adventure. It's like one of those kids books. "What will we do to deal with those as quickly as we can and again try to prevent a large-scale outbreak but I think it's extraordinarily difficult if not almost impossible to go through the rest of the season without having some positive cases no matter how careful everyone tries to be because again, this is a disease endemic out in our society. In fact, we're seeing Peter Higher rates, of disease, transmission. Shannon incident. So as long as that's out there, we know that we're going to be vulnerable. You don't will land with this I know that you're not a football guy and I know you're not the guy who makes the final decision. But the football fan will asked this question. If the Tennessee titans can't get into their facility until the weekend. While the Pittsburgh steelers who they're playing scheduled to play this weekend have a full normal practice week in Pittsburgh. And they go into play the game. How could it be fair for this game to happen on? Sunday and water the chances that this gets moved to Monday or Tuesday out of a relative sense of fairness. Well I think there are a couple of things I would say to that thankfully period as you pointed out, that's not decisions that I'm charged with I'm simply asked to lead the medical effort in in that is really our Northstar here, which is what is the right thing to do medically, that has to be more important. That institutions will continue to guide us what decisions make us the safest not for only for each player for each club if the League is a whole, so that's always going to be our number one guiding principle I would say also though the commissioner has a panel, a group of advisers that he convened to discuss these types of issues and I'm sure. That the already has you already has gotten inputs in that group and will continue to get input from them about these types of issues, regarding fairness and so forth. But the other thing I would say to that as we've said all along that this season is going to be about flexibility and adaptability, and we're going to have to recognize that it can't just. Be Business as usual. We may have to make small thracians. I think also we've said that in this season equity doesn't equal equality at meaning that everyone's not going to have an equal road and we've seen that before there have been times when teams have been affected by hurricanes floods or you know other things that have disrupted practice schedules in and we've. Simply. Had to adjust to that. So I have confidence in everyone involved that they'll make the right decision but I, do want everyone to realize that the ultimate guide for our decision making year is going to be the health and safety of everyone involved. That's our top priority in keeping everyone is healthiest possible is more important than anything else in this situation. Gut Feeling if there are no further positive tests, does this game get played this weekend? like I said earlier Peter I'm not going to speculate on that. I can just tell you that each day that goes by where we're GONNA make the best decision weekend based on the medical information that we have to try to keep everyone involved safe. This possible because this is about a long range views isn't just about one game I feel responsible for the health and wellbeing of the entire league in all of our players, coaches and staff members and their families, and so we have to take all of that into account in and be driven by that more than any scheduled in front of us. Doctor Allen Fills NFL chief medical officer really appreciate you taking the time. Hey, thanks for having me Peter. And now my conversation with Ryan Fitzpatrick the quarterback of the Miami. Dolphins. Happy. Joined by Ryan. Fitzpatrick the dolphins quarterback on the podcast this week. and. Ryan I've got some very big news for you. I know you WANNA game this week but you also appeared in my football morning in America Kala. So that's really really quite an accomplishment free you. Do Love. Okay. So I, I, you gotta to hear you're one of my quotes of the week and I'm GonNa ask you about it. Then I'm GonNa ask you to talk about it. All right. You said. After you beat Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world sometimes getting to go outside and play football with my friends. which is something quite honestly sounds like somebody who was thirteen years old with say you know who would get to go outside and play? So tell me about that and tell me why you continue to feel this way after all these years. I just I love playing the game I think as I've. Gotten older Perspective has has changed a little bit but I just I feel like I'm out there and I've already accomplished way more than. Anybody thought her than I even thought back in two thousand five with the Rams I was hoping to hang on for a year or two, and it's been an amazing wild ride but getting the do it now at age thirty seven and be surrounded by a bunch of twentysomethings out there it does make me feel youthful in just feeding off the energy it my teammates and you know having a twenty one year old left tackle. That's a lot closer in age to. Me it definitely Linke's me young. I, I wonder how it is to deal with. To town of a Loa who obviously was drafted to replace you. And when you guys get together, what are you talk about? All kinds of different stuff. He's a very interesting guy You know he has a lot of good questions, football questions, We're in the meeting room or even on the sideline during the game you could tell that he's very smart in that regard and just you know he's I. Think he's probably a little bit of an older soul just in terms of some of the stuff that he's into in some of the discussions we can have so. It's been a lot of fun getting to know him and he's got a lively personality that makes everybody smile around the building. Do you do you take on a little bit of a different role when the team takes the guy who clearly is going to be there long term quarterback I mean is it different for you this year than it was last year I mean, it's for me. It's the same in that preparation is the same You know, I know my job security really for my whole career. It's a week to week proposition and I've gotta go out there improving every single week. But with to a just being able to slow down sometimes to be to take the extra minute to explain something in my thought process or to sit on the bench during a game. In instructed talk and answer questions that stuff is maybe a little bit different than you know how would go normally but I know what my role is and I know that I'm keeping the seat warm for him I. I. Know The talent that he has and I'm excited in whenever he gets his opportunity. But I feel like I'm GONNA play a big part in that and I'm looking forward to helping him develop as a quarterback. And I I wonder too. How do you deal with a I thought this was a really interesting thing that happened with Josh Rosen. and. I thought one of. You would know how he feels. Josh, mccown would know how he feels other people who have had so many different coaches in so many different systems. I've always been curious mccown explain this well, one time when I asked him, you've been in about thirteen different systems in your NFL Korea or I guess you would say coordinators who would be sort of You know pretty different. An end in the time you've been football in thirteen years. You've been in football I. Wonder How do you adjust? When you have to go from one system to another. and. The new system is a hundred and eighty degrees different from the system you've just played. I N Josh. Have had a lot of conversations about this. For. Me I think because I'm a little bit further down the road in my career and I really know who I am as a quarterback and things that I like and don't like I'm able to..

"Have? Gone. So many places where you know you're there to tutor mentor that young guy you placeholder if you will until he's ready I mean it seems like. That's been the story for you and a lot of places you've been correct yeah. It definitely has an that doesn't never that's never an issue for me I mean I think I have had such A. Great career in in terms of the people that I've met and the people that have helped me out along the way. And I view it as pain at forward a little bit and that I've. You know I've made enough. Mistakes for you know plenty of quarterbacks combined with things that I've been through and done and to be able to share those experiences the good and the bad with some of these younger guys if I could you know be a small part of helping them in their career and making them a better player than that makes it worth it to me so. You. Know I wouldn't be. where I am right now, but it wasn't for Mark Bolger and Gus Ferrat and. Martin and a guy like Carson Palmer. Really, took time and helped me out and when you know out out of their way to make sure that you know I had a chance to be successful. So when I think back to those years and to those guys especially Carson Palmer and the way that he affected my career, even just being able to observe watch him every day. I feel very happy and privileged to be in the position that I'm in right now to be able to pay it forward to somebody like to what did you learn from? Carson, right. Well, I. Think one of the biggest things with Carson. one of most selfless guys I've ever been around but just his leadership style, the way that guy's followed him and. Know part of it was you know you take a guy that's a number one overall. Pick you take a guy that was heisman trophy winner. For him to come in and I came in and maybe his. The you could look it up, but probably V. C He was drafted no three I was there seven eight so And six years I think For him you know to have no ego to be tough to shoulder all the blame all the time for stuff that he didn't need to take the plane for The way that the guys looked at him in the huddle there were so many different qualities about him. That just made me. You say to myself like that's that's how I want guys to look at me and. It had nothing to do with the talent that he had. It had to do with the way that he carried himself and the way that he shouldered the blame you know in the way that in the game's biggest moments like he wanted to be there and I just I learned so much from that just his presence just from being around him. But Those were some of the lessons that I. I took from you know being able to observe him. You mentioned Simos quarterbacks right and you've been to Saint Louis Cincinnati Buffalo. Tennessee houst- in New York with the jets Tampa now Miami. You had to read that you. There's no way you knew that. Listen if you can cycle the mant, ask math answers that you do over time at the podium with your with your. Math inches, I can memorize the teams that you played with and recite them very quickly. That's my job. Now, you got the math problems from. Come on right I I was able to do that. That's that's. When you look back at those eight stops and you mentioned some of those quarterbacks, we all in our respective whinge work I think learn things certain people who leave a mark on US impact US guide us who are still together people in all those places don't make me say again that also stand out you maybe to coach maybe it's an owner maybe it's a GM. Maybe it's a teammate anybody else that just jumps out to you that you believe deserve some credit for you staying on in this league for sixteen, years. Gosh there's. A Lot Yeah I mean I think. Marvin Lewis. You know my first real chance to start Carson hurt his elbow in two thousand eight and I started twelve games that year. And You Know Marvin. It was. It was a long year and there were a lot of struggles but he stuck with me throughout the whole year. And I think that was. The first year that really. Kind of put me in a position to. you know at least I then signed in Buffalo as a backup but as a Backup to had the potential to be a starter and I think the chance and the shot that Marvin gave me and stuck with me for those twelve games was a that was really big for me. Jan Galea's obviously been a huge part of my career. You know being Ila start under him for three years in Buffalo and then getting traded eventually after a few other stops to New York and playing for him for two years again and now ironically. We meet again in Miami He's another one that really sticks out and then. You know there's just there's so many guys along the way that You know I think Stevie Johnson and Fred Jackson or two in Buffalo of guys that. You know I've always believed in me and. You know guys that really helped me in terms of confidence and. All those different things But yeah, there's there's a laundry list that you know. I know that I'm missing probably thirty guys that had enormous impacts on my career but those are some as you say. You alyssum that popped in my mind right away. That's quite unless you know Jane Gaily I started covering the NFL nineteen ninety. Chan Gailey was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for the Denver Broncos back in the day. About Sir high well yeah. I just I just had a production meeting with with Troy Aikman he was a eight. Eighty eight, eighty nine was his head coach. It's it's it's a longtime. You mentioned all I, Mitchell stops. Is it true that you you've seven children but they were each born in a different city. Yeah. We have seven seven kids and seven different stake. Which is pretty incredible. That's unbelievable. No child none of the seven born same place same hospital. Same anything. No none nine, all different cities and it's It's pretty remarkable You know if you start thinking about it and doing the math and we've had a kid every other year for the last. twelve or thirteen years, and the only stop I've had longer than two years is buffalo which was for. One of our. Kids was born in Arizona while I was a buffalo bill. So that's that was the UH. I guess, the one is Asterik on the bottom as I was I was a bill and had two kids a bill, but one of them was in Arizona. This or something I wanted to ask you how is it that Philip rivers get so much attention for nine kids but you get any attention for seven kids That's it. You know I'm on the runner up I mean he and by the way like Philip should be getting no attention and I should be no attention to to be our wives and they're getting all the attention with this stuff. That's good. Yeah. Yeah, put that one in there I need some bonus points. Lies I'm pronounce Your Name Correctly Right? Live Liza. It lies deserves a lot of credit for this and and I'm glad you called rat. Hunters. lies alike, the chest hair that you displayed on national television the other night after you beat the Jacksonville Jaguars for, she'll give it that. Well. We we've got seven kids so you could probably answer that one yourself..
Fitzpatrick handles Jaguars again, this time with Dolphins
"Happy. Trails to the Jacksonville Jaguars sometimes the magic works sometimes, it doesn't last night Ryan Fitzpatrick was. Ryan. Fits Magic. Again, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars for the sixth time in his career and he's beaten them for six different teams last night for the dolphins before that was for the Bengals, the bills Titans Texans and the jets Harvard Zone Fitzpatrick who is now played for one quarter of the NFL's teams completed. His first twelve passes finished eighteen to twenty two touchdowns for passer rating of one, thirty, three, point three and in. So doing he became just one of two players since one, thousand, nine, hundred, forty eight to finish a game with at least two passing touchdowns. Rushing touchdown twenty yards rushing in a pass reception,

"More done. If it's magic, he's Mr September. Ryan Fitzpatrick last night leading the Dolphins over the Jags, and it was pretty impressive there. That was one of those performances that you go to a couldn't do that. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a spectacular game. Caught a pass runs for a touchdown throws. A couple of touchdown passes completes 90% of his passes. He is Mr September. Yes, MMA club. You can't say you caught a pass. He threw it in the defense of lime and bad id her right back to him. Didn't count. It's a catch, like Nick Foles in the Super Bowl writing. No, it's not. But he did catch a

"Numbers air really good. It's just his turn over. Numbers are too high, and he's on bad teams. So doesn't surprise me and plus he's played. How many more years and Russell more a lot more, and it's not that far off. Because Ryan Fitzpatrick he has 33,000 career past 32,000. 405 passing yards and he's been in the league. Since basically 8 4005 on 61 17 barely registered any stats, So he's basically been a leak since 2008 Russ has been in the league since 2012. And Russia's 30,344 passing yards Now to your point. What do you think? The career touchdown passes are for Ryan Fitzpatrick? Would you think Russ or Ryan have? Would you think Russell Wilson Ryan Fitzpatrick have more career passing touchdowns? I would say just because of the length of his career, I'd have to say Fitzpatrick Ryan Fitzpatrick 212 career passing touchdowns in the regular season. Russell Wilson to 36 interceptions. How many career interceptions? Has Ryan Fitzpatrick. It's actually not that that high as you think it's going to be, I would say to you wanting 12 Touchdown, So so how many? How many interceptions So I'd say it's less than touchdowns. I'd say 1 91 64. Get that one year with the bills. We threw 23, then the Jets 15 17. Tampa had 12 last year The Dolphins had 13. There was another buffalo he had 15 and 16. Russell Wilson, though I'll.

Midnight Patriot, nation welcome to NFL. Mid Nitrates it is you boy spartan here with the the ever ever pot and flaming premix A good to have you as D to ultra. Sports nerds. In specifically football cards. On the end on the. Patriot staff. Phoenix tonight decided that we were actually GonNa do kind of a deep dive into what is pissing us off most about NFL and. Most pro sports in general to be quite honest. But we're GONNA focus on the NFL in this particular case because. Both Phoenix, myself have. A long history of both fandom and and. Playing Sports, we have a unique appreciation of what it takes. More it doesn't and how it is devolved into the into this shit show that it is. Just, we're just GONNA go from there. So Phoenix you had you had some thoughts that you wanted to start with go ahead. Well specifically. I I have a major gripe with the NFL in general. Being more politicized. And the. Let's End Racism. Okay, I get my left. Black lives matter. No sorry. They do and I agree with the message just not the manor which is being delivered. We've said that before on the organization go ahead. Exactly. All of a sudden you know we have a organization. That's Through much. Yup You can't do this. You know we have this. AFOREMENTIONED SCAMMED EMMA GOING ON. You can't do this. You can't do this. Well Yeah you can't. Okay. And then we have the social unrest of the nation being thrown into. A sporting. Venues. that. For All intents purposes let's call it. What is it's an escape. It allows us the viewer. Fan. That three four hours. Sunday evening Monday night whatever that. It gives us that escape from eager live love get up go to work and deal with people you come home you deal with cranky wife and kids don't listen dog that Shit's in your shoes. You've taken that away. And now have made it. Well we got to get on board with this. Well, we're relevant to. We're a large. Organization we goner? A multitude of platforms. That we have viewership. There any given? Day that we have competition So now we're going to. Paint messages in the end. We're going to have. Athletes will we're going to kneel to show solidarity. I got a huge problem with that and for our listeners I'm sure you have your own platforms as well. The American flag comes I stand for Gore country you back your country everything else second berry period. That's my thought on that. That's the way it is. Unfortunately when. The NFL NBA MLB hockey underwater basket weaving has become politicized in what we have to show solidarity with this. I have a question. Are you showing solidarity four? Message. Or are you As the NFL did let's put. The name of a known fell one on a helmet. Let's. Let's praise this guy because shot back when a an. Amplifier point in accused rapists. Is someone with a warning active warrants? For Rape Yes. So here in my eternal gripe with this, that will probably go down in flames just like the rest of them. Why are we? In fact. Standing behind. Someone. WHO BREAKS THE LAW? WHO does walk. Yes. They didn't listen. They got shot in the back whatever. House we say. Extenuating circumstances came to be that this ended up how that was. We have to stand behind this person as a form of. Instead of. Waiting, for all the facts that come out be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. And then move forward from there. Well. That's the real question. Isn't it is is you know? All we've seen is what has been allowed to be released. Okay I mean look I think in his thing I agree with everything you just said save one thing. Okay. I don't think demand deserve to be shot seven times point blank in the back now. Having said that. He has an active warrant for his arrest, what he should not have done to prevent that whole situation was to surrender. Get handcuffed and be taken into to engage whatever process there is. Okay, you don't fight cops in the street if you do. You mess with the bull, you get the horns. Okay. He's admitted he was armed. He's admitted he was going for a different arm- armament. Okay. And what do we expect the COPS to die? I don't think so you know I'm. In the eyes of them, that's probably what they're saying. Well. Preserved by life fuck yours. Well exactly. The COP Exactly and and my my attitude would be y is either one wrong as far as you know, one one has a duty to behave professionally the other has a duty to follow the law. Or face the consequences you know it would have saved him from getting shot in the back if he had stopped if he turned around if he'd Toronto. Surrendered Okay Understand that I understand the Warren has has since been vacated, but that's beside the point. When a COP's his I warrant for your arrest I mean you're supposed to do is say what am I being arrested for? Okay I'll go peacefully ears might whereas my lawyer yeah. Instead, of no fuck you fight you tooth and nail, and if get away up the war still there, but you don't have me. Right. Exactly. Exactly and you know I got I got I got a I. got a interject because you know. My personal opinion is if you probably agree Is this. Cancer of case. started. It may have it may have had other sources. Okay. But its primary. Protagonist, in growth factor was Colin. Kaepernick a few years ago and I don't say that in a flattering manner. Okay. I've said it before the my opinion that Colin Kaepernick is the biggest fraud on the planet as pertains to the NFL. At least Ryan leaves when he signed what Leash Langley, when he signed, he knew he was shit approved the wish she had any faded off politely into the sunset because he saw a gay. young just tell the story as I. Recall it and you you you feel free to chime in when you. When when you when you if I'm off base okay. A lot of people don't remember this but you and I as King's football and many things in life have a have a memory quite a bit longer than than your average goldfish. Okay? I remember watching the first incidents of Cabernet court on code kneeling and he wasn't fucking Neil. He had just had an argument with his with with the head coach and I don't think it was Kelly. It may have been horrible. But he had the yard, the head, the argument with Joe it was horrible wasn't horrible yet. So out of you probably saw the clip to you can't find it now because it's Youtube everywhere else. He had he had A. Verbal altercation with Harbhajan and I can only assume in what we were told. You know later was that harbaugh. told him. No you're not starting a colon Cabernet got very unprofessional and like the diva quarterback that he is. Turn Turnhill stomped over to the bench slammed his helmet down in plop disaster down on the bench now by sheer and toll coincidence. Anthem had just started. The anthem it just started when that HAP-. ACI. I know you remember this is I think you and I talked about this at the time that it happened because we were mocking him because when I weren't weren't quarterbacks when we played the game and we know what divas they are even princesses, they are this. If you remember and I know you do espn headlines a couple of days. Later words were that Colin Kaepernick was going to be fine. Substantially for multiple instances of unprofessional conduct conduct deleterious to the team. Leading up to the altercation with harbaugh that happened where he plops his ass on the bench you remember that ideas that. Dakhla and it was it was post practice I. Believe I want a That later that week that a reporter asked him. About the state of the fines and Based on his lip based on. Let's just call it what it was temper Tantrum. Okay. And that's when Cabernet sold all this bullshit about he was doing it in protest etcetera etcetera and he played the race card, which we all know the press eats up hook line and sinker and never ever questioned. Ever On. Me It came across and partner Jackie No, you're good. The the instance of which we are discussing out my first thought on that was yes it's a temper tantrum and I'm about to be busted for having a temper tantrum. So allow me to make up some juicy. To Garner more attention to the fact that. This is happening to be Gimme Gimme. GimMe and I lost my starting spot. Well, that's the that's the point I'm making. He played the race card to avoid fight. For on professional conduct and he was he was outright given a past. I don't think he ever actually even actually got find something that was overlooked too is that is that nick is not a person of color is really not us he is a multi-racial okay and part of that find that he was going to get for unprofessional conduct was calling somebody else on the field the N. Word back can't say here because quite frankly it's feds even and number two I don't WanNa get show you monetize but that said that was part of that that was part of the fine to be levied. The fine was vacated. Okay. Because he was successful, you successfully played the race card and got out. Okay and this whole shift started this snowball at that point. as we as we all know you know he was he was basically the the the face man for chip. Kelly's offense that you know while short term short term effective was absolutely not sustainable. Okay. We all know that. And you combine that with the fact that the guy had. Just over just under a shooting just over sixty percent for completion rate. Even in that offense at his best day, he was a mediocre quarterback surrounded by a bunch of very talented people. Okay. So now it has become the fact that you know this whole narrative has has escalated by people that that know nothing about the actual game because. Football is simple. It's not easy, but it's simple. Is. The ultimate meritocracy. Okay talent hard work equals success. Okay there's a lot of guys. We can probably point him out on the field you and I. There's a lot of guys that that. That just simply outworked their competition to get where they are I'll give you. I'll give you one prime example and right now they call him the goat Tom. De. Tom. Brady was drafted was I can remember he was drafted. He was I. Don't think he was Mr irrelevant. But he was real close. He was the very bottom. Yes. Six he was very close to the very end of end of the draft in and he is he outworked is is competition. Now granted drew bledsoe. If people can remember back set for was not a very good quarterback anyways. He was only borderline better than Ryan Leaf and he went down Tom Brady took over in the rest as they say district but. No? One ever questioned, Tom? Brady's work ethic in those dynasty years in in in New England. Okay. Because he outworked he, he worked his ass off. Yes he was talented. Yes. He's physically gifted but that plus hardwork dedication to his craft turned into in the in the the hardware for the hand so to speak. and. anyways back to my point about Cabernet. All, these people talking about how Catherine doesn't have a job because he's bad for business or half rights, they're only half rice. Now I posted this to the page I know you read you probably it is I. Think I read this week we went to this is from ESPN DOT COM itself. Okay. ESPN DOT. com. The actual date this was published as March twentieth two, thousand seventeen. By their staff writer Kevin Seaford. and. I am just going to read it. I'm. GonNa. I'M GONNA. Try to read the whole thing. I'm trying Doug only try to read the parts that are relevant. But those those listening. If you go to our face, a bitch facebook dot com slash midnight patriots. You'll be able to find this article and we shared it the title of it is calling Kabir Knicks based problem performance. Politics. Day It starts off real simple. So Don't over think why Colin Kaepernick is still a free age simply put years have passed since he was ineffective quarterback he's twenty nine years old has succeeded in an unsustainable scheme as part of a well populated group of former starters who also remain available at as this week began now getting that was march twenty, twenty, seventeen. So they were in free agents. Okay. Let's. Let's move on here. It's blamed Colin Kaepernick's unemployment on his protest is to misread the way NFL teams make personnel decisions. that. I don't think there's any more true statement on Earth. Do you I? MEAN THAT'S Yeah. So it goes on protests where does say at any type of business that if you have lackluster performance, did you are guaranteed two hundred million dollar job? Number One and two I was GONNA say there have been divas troublemakers in the NFL before? Okay and Kim's and? Lewis Terrell on. You know. List goes on and on. And let's not forget the NFL is the lead cut an outright banned ray rice running back from the Ravens for domestic violence. Okay. Before he was convicted. Suspended A. Peterson for disciplining his child. Yeah for banking hit saw. Yeah. Okay for spanking his own child. Okay. So now they put criminals names on their helmet. so by but I digress I digress let's get back to the article. Just to just to go just to go. Teams are swayed I by players potential or lack thereof to help them win protest or not kapernick would be under contract. Now, if he had demonstrable if he had played demonstrably better in recent years. Let's look closer at where capper nick is as a quarterback and why that has left him sitting in a group that also includes fellow free agents, Jay Cutler Josh mccown Ryan Fitzpatrick and Robert Griffin the third. Again keep in mind. This is from shelvin teachings of this is three years ago. Okay. But. It goes on to some of the reason I liked this 'cause this is based on facts not just you know a bunch of race baiting bullshit. Kapernick grid NFL success came as part of the San Francisco Forty niners read Options Skiing Twenty, twelve to twenty four. In those three years, he rushed for Fifteen, hundred, seventy, eight yards which okay. I will give credit that impressive gudgeon impressive number. For. More than any other quarterback with the exception of Rush Russell Wilson Cam Newton so let's just call it what it is. He was third rushing quarterback against. It breath. Okay. I will not fall the net. His. Success. He threw more than twice as many touchdown passes interceptions helped him compile eighth best time quarterback rating in the NFL seventy point to over that period. But even then capper nick was one of the lease most. Least Accurate quarterbacks is sixty point one completion percentage ranked twenty third in the NFL and has percentage of off target throws judged on video by espn stats and information ranked eighteen. So. Based on just the stats alone he was a middle of the pack quarterback middle of the pack. Does that mean that he's better than half the other guys absolutely does that mean that that you know the drama he brings? Outweighs his skills is still setting the money in the monetary investment probably. Okay I agree or disagree just on that statement there. I would agree that yeah, he's a middle of the road quarterback. He had some skill. At. That position. That offense. You're right. Would it work somewhere else probably not but that's Changing teams, you learned their offensive scheme you learn what they do best blend yourself into that and you become part of the team not a one man show. that. I, mean you'd have to agree that most had coaches that have half a brain would go sixty, four, sixty point one completion percentage. even if you're even if you're going to do A. A bootleg offense even if you're going to do a boot offense. Play I can. Still going to have to be better than sixty point one. Periods I mean just entered discussion. Quarter, you're talking college level quarterback. Even if you're on a naked, do either one side, you're still depending on receivers tied ends backs to be open at some point that you can actually say, Hey, he's opened easel bewitched of the two weevils need a cheese her who exactly exactly union able to identify and hit those targets or at least give your guys in a position to succeed you know. I'd like to. Bring to Light I. Not Very long after capital started his quest masqueraded by some of justice whatever you WANNA call it only because he got in my mind and correct me if I'm wrong, he got busted out period. That's just the way it is you through Tantrum he got his ass busted will now I gotta cover with this to cover that with this, and then all of a sudden we have one big lie that snowball into the entire solstice thing that's going on currently. You're. Going to look they had to go. He ended up in Washington. In front of US rest. Explaining his side of everything that goes on great. Denver Broncos of whom I am a fan. I it. Does not get into that because. Pirate about that right. That's ultimate digression. Go ahead, John. elway. It had in fact offer Catholic before your contract. said. Hey. COMPLA-. Can come down because it wasn't enough money. Wait a minute. Let's look at your stats a sixty sixty point something or other completion percentage. Yes. You had fifteen hundred yards rushing, which as we've discussed is pretty phenomenal quarterback save. Russell. Cam. Newton. Maybe rg three hundred healthy. That's stretching it buttle throw it in there. Anyway. I. Really. Wanted to see if capital could be plugged into that offense and sell. Well, that's the that's the real trick. Isn't it? I mean? End and let's be clear. He turned it down because the salary was too low, not the money. Or maybe remember correctly, he turned it down because John elway wanted to load the one at the loaded up with incentives and say, okay, you exceed this mark you get ex you this you get what we go to the playoffs and when you get Z. Experience Cetera so wasn't of excellent. Yeah. But exactly to perform at your very best as cut your in the NFL, they don't take ship nothing while the that's when the NFL stands for not for lofts. That and let's be honest. It was not only. Did he had he had to meet performance criteria he had to me behavior criteria, EXAC? elway and the broncos weren't going to stand for this s J. W. S. J. W. Crap. That he's pulling. So let's go back to the article real quick. It'll it'll. It'll really start driving the point home. Okay. So I believe he started kneeling rating was two fifteen. So. Article Goes On. The issues that we were just talking about the increasing. Or decreasing completion percentage decreasing accuracy except sets. Those issues intensified in Twenty fifteen and twenty sixteen amid forty nine ers. Coaching turmoil in talent drain since the start of the twenty fifth season Kapernick ranks get this. Last in the NFL thirty five all five passers in off target percentage is off target twenty, two point six percent of the time which when she is the least accurate quarterback in the. League. As of the twenty. Fifteen. It goes on. Is Complete. Complete is completion percentage ranks number thirty, two at fifty, nine point one. He was still one of the NFL's most productive Shink quarterbacks, ranking number four total yardage over all those years but it didn't mitigate his passing deterioration and this is in my mind. This is the absolute most important line in the yard or ear and an adult. There is no more important attribute for quarterback accuracy especially for a free agent who is shopping himself teams with various schemes. In, the long term a quarterbacks running ability is considered a complimentary skill and one that is story. Fade with age or because of injuries, scrambling ability and arms drank are secondary to whether you can hit the target. That analysis backed up by numbers essentially wreck stay shit out of this current narrative will Cohen Governor never draw. Back. Dinners. Any beds no sorry. Have a fucking job because he sucks. Sex At what he does also, there's a theory going around the going around that it was right about twenty, nine, hundred he met his I don't know if she's still has girlfriend whatever evidently these ideas about radical justice one I'd ever definitely his girlfriend is, is some sort of radical s j w as well, and he was too stupid to either a lever to the side or be not listen door and just agree to disagree on stuff but then again. Go ahead exactly what it is. Power Pussy with exactly exactly and you quite frankly I can't fault them for that because you know that's ninety percent of marriages happen. We'll just we'll just leave at this point. Is that right there? That's You were saying regarding his ability to suck. But it started then I mean he the guy the guy got lazy. He got loud. Through the race card to cover his shit then he couldn't back up his mouth with performance. You know do you your ears? Rocco's fat okay. Let's talk about just a second. Let's talk about Shannon Sharpe just for ten seconds or for a few seconds. Okay. Shannon Sharpe. Is An arrogant prick agree or disagree now When I hang on, hang on that said. Shannon Sharpe liked to run his mouth about a lot of stuff at a lot of different times also true. Yes. Yes. Shannon Sharpe never failed toback his mouth up with his physical actions on field. Also. True. Unless I'm Clinton mistake, it have you seen the. I know he's A. He's a beast. His and by that, I, mean his physique and his skill level we're just unprecedented but you know I do I think running your mouth there's unprofessional Mind that you buy then back it up on the field nut so much. I mean. Go ahead. If I if I remember correctly now, remember this because there is significant events happened in my life sixteen nineteen. broncos are in the midst of the run to Super Bowl thirty two. Tonight game. In Kansas City in Kansas. City. I can remember. Watching a few days later because of recovering from surgery on. Shannon. Sharpe was literally being drug halfway across the field for most of the game by his helmet because he was talking some serious Shit Oh. Yeah. I. Remember Correctly Dr Thomas. If. If I get an incorrect Thomas Yeah. So. So pissed off the guy, he knocking, Kane insane composure in his professionalism in the game. You got what? I think. Say He lit it up. He was like Yeah. That's ten to twelve for. The Gargantuan One, twenty, one, twenty, six, and what two touchdowns. Yeah he was a month. So. All of a sudden sanders our. Love the Guy I've actually met him. Helvin individual. Love Tall. But he can copious amounts of Shit Oh. Yeah. Oh yeah that that man can back his mouth up. Oh Yeah. We have an and. He. End Let's let's break that down from an NFL perspective. So I'm a personnel manager. Okay and I have Shannon Sharpe as a free agent. His name comes across the wire I go holy Fuck Ball sharps available, and I already know that a he's allowed mouth be he likes to talk shit and sees extremely opinionated man but D-. The Guy Backs should have on the field I picked up the phone. I pick up the phone and say Hello Mr Shannon. Trump's lawyer her agent. This is me at the I would like to pay your your plant, a lot of money obscene amount of money to come help us when football game sets. Ended up with the. Exactly for whatever he was with the Ravens what three years. Say but he wanted them for four super bowl with their to. The argument that Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a job because Hashtag grace is complete an utter bullshit. Bullshit and the the fact that Roger Goodell has bought into this Shit Hook Line and sinker is even worse. Okay. You would think that that to be the commissioner of of a National League or National Professional Sports League that race in what eight to ten billion dollars. A year in gross revenue. You have. You'd have to have an IQ above your shoe size. Goodell even that these people that that they're they're professing to support. Social Justice. Wise. He realized that the vast majority of them do not watch the Games couldn't tell you five players in the league and doesn't even know couldn't name five teams lot I mean. She probably I mean. Look at some of the fan base. Did Not tell you the difference three, four, three defense. Yeah don't try to get him to describe the Tampa to. Exactly or various offensive formation. You're the simultaneous simultaneous possession roll which you and I can quote by heart understand completely. Exactly. Our guys we've got another segment coming up right after this brief break. Stay tuned. Midnight Patriot nations spartan with a shameless plug for our new gear shop shop. Dot. MIDNIGHT PATRIOTS DOT COM. T shirts, hats, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and just about everything else in between we got you covered whether you're looking to embrace your insomnia, show your patriotism or make a liberals headaches blowed. Really, Shop Dot Midnight Patriots, Dot Com, and now back to the show. You know that's that said. I made a prediction in in midnight moment the last night moment and I want to run around wanted to run that by. Not. Only understand that the business portion of the of the game, but also the game itself. So this is going to the business portion now. One. Of the things that you and I both know is that owners very rarely. SAY WHAT THEY THINK Or say or reveal their plans in advance. Okay. I've noticed that the owners have remained. Suspiciously quiet. About the social justice campaign that's currently going on I do disagree with that. I mean like I said, I think Jerry Jones is really the only one that's actually made any sort of statement and it wasn't a very long. I ever Jones ever quiet. What that's that's my point. And say instead of instead of. Me thinks he protests too much. Me think she says nothing for more sinister Okay so I wanted to run this by this is my theory. Okay. Now we've confirmed the the the Monday night compal atrocity from last night. US. Or Susani from two nights ago that. We've confirmed that the viewership was down approximately twenty nine percent. Across the board in that double header. So if we take the two games Monday and the overall ratings of of being down for Sunday you're talking an average of of a twenty percent downer. It's one fifth of the audience of the television audience told the NFL the PISS off. Okay. Considering the the significant financial investment ESPN has for for the right. To. Monday night football. Let's just let's just call that loss unsustainable. Okay. So I am going to ask you to engage your owner brain for just a minute. Okay. So We're GONNA fast forward to the week after the Super Bowl's okay where things are notably notably quite Rosalie quiet. The coaching carousel began and things like that since. Day. Except that, there's going to be a rumor. Going to be a rumor. That the NFL that the owners are considering locking out the players because they want to renegotiate the contracts. And this will come as a surprise to dumb asses in the AT ESPN released. They're going to feign surprise. Okay. And we're going to start hearing things like while the coaches are not gonNa make anymore are putting hiring decisions are the owners are going to. Put a hiring decisions on pause for just We're going to review a few things and Blah Blah Blah. While then we're going to get to Russia's started free agency. And we'RE GONNA. Find out and it's probably going to be one of the one of the What's The guy's name? Remember his name. One of the reporters Schefter Adam schefter because he always breaks up he's. Probably. GonNa be schefter becomes. We have confirmed reports, the owners who are going to lock out the players affected nine am tomorrow or whatever. Okay. Now what's going to end up happening is this. The overall I would say, the overall revenue is going to decline somewhere in the area of twenty percent across the before the Lee across the. Across the season. Okay. Now again does just a prediction it might be higher. I hope it's higher until they stop dish this personally but. This is what's going to happen. You're going to get a massive ratings ratings cut. Even in the Super Bowl. Which means revenue is going to be down roughly thirty percents. Okay. What they're gonNA say is this is an unprecedented drop in revenue and the the losses are unsustainable. They're going to have to renegotiate the contracts. The players are GONNA have to take less money and this time the the ownership is going to be able to show concrete. The because of the drop in television revenue in Jersey sales and everything else. That they're going to have to renegotiate the contract. They're going to vote on removing Goodell as the commission. You're actually they're gonNA, they're gonNA end up forcing him out but the way it's GonNa play out this players are to get locked out. There's going to be a review of the deal of the of the current Labor Labor Agreement. The new agreement is GONNA. Have a significantly lower. Revenue Pool total that that the players are going to get. And they're going to have conduct they're going to have enhanced conduct policy which include the jewel stand for the national anthem. You will not hiding locker room for it. And you're going to we're going to not endorse anyone as far as any sort of political failure, your ideology on the field, and if you do not only will your contract be terminated but you'll be you'll be on the breadline by your suspended for a year. Now maybe the suspended for year won't come to pass but. Engage your own our brain for just a second and then look at the strike years that came up and you tell me how how how. Or how far I'll fight on that. Will. Allow me to. Dive into this plan I mean. Here we go. I am an owner of a NFL team. Meaning I have had to. Put Out. Let's use an arbitrary figure five hundred million dollars cash right upfront. Chooses five hundred. Half a billion. Cool. I'm. Glad. Yeah. Five hundred million dollars up front in order to gain my team have somewhere to play. The voted on passed and approved by the NFL. As either an expansion team whatever then. To, Cherry pick the other teams around here so I can build my team. In hopes that a I get a return on investment. That said if I'm going to dump five, hundred, million dollars out. A team equipment place play contracts that are stretched for X. number of years. This mice guaranteed this much at a signing bonus this much. Not. including the money paid to the team from the NFL for reaching a wildcard round, a divisional round championship round, and ultimately the Super Bowl. There are incentives paid to the teams by the NFL for attaining postseason plum. Yeah So that said with everything that goes on here. Currently we're martyring. Convicted felons we are. Using the NFL. As a soapbox. As an owner. would. Say? Okay. I can understand. The Point I understand where you're coming from I understand yes. Shit doesn't like this doesn't need to happen. It does there's nothing I can physically do about it personally except point out to you that you're not them. You are a multimillionaire more working your way to that point because of your talent, your skill and your ability play the game price. You as a athlete. well-fed well trained. Best shape, your ever loving life you have a house bigger than anything you've ever grew up in, you've got cars for days all these other things but. You need to remember that you are entertainer You're not a politician. So, that said. When to go into your point? After the Super Bowl. Until they actually have one right. That two weeks later, when everything's died down in the in the winter sprayed is over and losers or duck griping and the coaches players have made their way to their respective all. Wherever. That may be they're probably their private castles. Yes don't don't live in a castle guarded by you know dogs bigger than. Most people's. Cars. Were we will probably see as you said. Well you know revenue was down. Because of viewership is down across the board anywhere between currently twenty twenty, two percent to encroaching upon thirty percent. For Games you know TV, rights merchandise sales are going to be down. People are actively boycotting across those media and they're actually making their voice known by not watching. All of a sudden if we were to take thirty two current teams. And we look at. All the owners in this how much money they have? Now if we were to take thirty percent of total investment apart. As a conglomerate figure. We're talking a loss of probably and I would strong. Guess. Somewhere in the neighborhood of anywhere between two and two point, five, billion dollars while even go you want all you can go one better I think since the economy has basically picked up I mean you gotta remember the day to ten billion was during the Obama Konami which was one of the worst economies history. Okay. So that said you gotta figure that now it's probably going to be between ten and twelve. So if you have a twenty percent revenue law, if you have a almost thirty percent, you're talking about three billion dollars. That's a three billion dollar loss. So even if even if you spread that across thirty two teams, you're talking about what? Three hundred, million dollar loss per franchised. and. So and a lot of the smaller market. Good. So again, as an owner with Joan, arbitrary figure of five, hundred, million dollars starting I just lost seventy five percent of your or yeah of my revenue that I put into have an NFL team. Well, exactly. Well Number One and number two what anybody thinks that now? Okay. We all understand the cats at the revenue sharing For Those of us that are initiated, understand understand the the the reason for revenue. Okay. That's that's a given. Okay. Even still a thirty percent cut to that revenue devastates small-market teams devastate. Okay that's. Cleveland Cleveland Cambe that's Detroit. Well, I think Detroit is a bit bigger, but I catch meaning. into. Jacksonville. Flow? Buffalo Alright. That unders. Anyway. They're too big but no I hear you here's here's here's the thing the smaller market teams are going to move may if this continues maybe on the verge of bankruptcy and and if you really don't think that the NFL owners will lock out the players to avoid that. I just think everybody's so naive that they shouldn't even be a football fan you can. Football I in my opinion, these played the players and Adele are cutting the owners throats and I don't think the owners appreciate it number one and number two I. Think the owners are more in touch with their demographic their fan base style people want to believe i. don't say that they like their fan base because obviously as the executive class billionaires general ended the tend to hate working people or at least have a disdain for them. Okay. But the point being is that it's unsustainable model for them to go forward to continue this crap. Of K, it's it's absolutely ludicrous. So I think about beat that horse to death did you have anything to add on just on that? Final thought regarding that as an owner is a businessman I yeah exactly. Exactly. His businesses to? Yes he owns the team but as a business owner, you're always looking to. CRUISER BOTTLE BLONDE Increase but also you know they've got, they've got a commitment. You know what I mean I mean the bottom line is there are associated with raising revenue to pay Patrick mahomes half a billion dollars over the next. Seven years. Of. The point the point is this is that there are costs associated developing that revenue and win the players behavior or when when the when the the players union in the League encourages behavior that is deleterious to to that mission. Then what are the owners supposed to do? Gordon exactly. They locked the doors take resigning before we open this and then players you're GONNA WE'RE GONNA have to do a big restructure here. Sorry. You know this is this is not you? Not You know you're not this side of the world you guys are on the upper echelon. Of money you have succeeded in. On yourself up by your bootstrap for lack of terminology, you have made it playing a game that you love passion for three enforce your point duty not only are they a privileged class? Okay. Let I verified this I verify this last night. I made a statement that that. The NFL, the people on the NFL minimum as in rookies that that you know what we're undrafted free agents, right that are somehow made the squad, which is more powerful MAZAFA. A No experience. Rookie. Signed as a free agent this year in the League makes a minimum of six hundred, thousand dollars. Six hundred, ten, thousand dollars I then went to the Department of Labor's website guess what the average household income for Americans is as twenty twenty. Sixty, one, thousand, three, hundred. Yes. They working person would take ten eleven years to make. They're making six months show and this is not this is not an insult. I'm only going to use the label for for effect. Hacks in the NFL make ten times. The average working family does and they dare fucking lecture us about what our values should be faulk them. Big F what. Exactly. With a with capitalize all letters with with several exclamation points at the end. So that said I. Underlined and and I tell us is never. That's that said, I I wanNA give credit where it's due also understand that you know. What did I just go off on the NFL to you know to to to the end up with surprise we'll tell you why because You know even in the worst of situations, even even in the darkest night, there are rays of sunshine out gather are rays of light and I want to heap praise on two particular players, and these are the only two players. That I'm aware of have done this if any of you out there. Needed to midnight Patriot nation are aware of more please let us know. So we can give them their just desserts in their props. I want to give particular a credit to a hundred in the way of of the of the Pittsburgh steelers. Mr Villanueva is a former army ranger That said he made a big splash stirred shit storm by doing the right thing. I'm not going to get into the to the criminal that that the that the steelers. We're trying to honor Norma GonNa try to justify it didn't happen there but. Mr Vienna wave. Did something very classy He caped over the criminals name and he chose to honor sergeant first class all when cash. Now I believe I'm saying that correctly cut me some slack by brute if I if I. A brutalized his name that is not the intention. To say how I believe it's spelled. But sergeant first, class all, when. Cash. who was killed in Afghanistan? And I I, WANNA. I WANNA take. The chance to really You know he preys on on Mr Villain away for for going against the grain and for honoring in a true fallen hero on instead of instead of the criminal. So. Well on on that. The next one and probably the biggest honors of the latest give to the Jaguars tight tyler effort. I think I'm saying his name correctly also I don't think it's effort at the. But again, please forgive me if I've Jaguars fans if wrecked his name to. That being said that were I for also You know went against the grain he chose to honor the life of David Dorn David Dorn for those of you that that don't know was retired police officer. I believe it was Saint Louis. He. police chief Sir about that. He was retired police chief and he. was acting on behalf of a friend to go and check is Friends Pawn Shop. And he was gunned down he was killed Doing doing that by a felon in possession of firearm each shot this this legitimate euro From behind in the back of the head, which was incredibly cowardly act. ADORNS widow. was featured at the Republican National Convention. So those be the she told the heart wrenching story and As much as I am I gotTa tell you broaden orphee side, but he loved me misty. I was just her story about David's life was very touching and the impact on her family were simply crush. So I wanNA other drove I drove home the point. Your choice exact life exactly as what makes you? Exactly you know people people come from from bad situations and rise to great heights in as far as I know. This is the only country in the world that that can happen. Where you can make what you want of your own life. Okay. The biggest prison that we have in this country, the prison in our own minds. So A. Big Praise to do Mr Bean away and Mr for will done. I still have the continue my. My boycott because of my standards but you gentlemen have shown that there is a a ray of light in darkness. So Phoenix where you have anything to add or have we beat this to death. By by Pres for. There are people in the NFL that are serving of. Respect for me for one. Not because of their wallet or their house or their cars. But they chose stand for the national anthem. As. SOMEONE WHO Leaves in their country. Leaves in the American dream all though little hard to attain sometimes. The anthem regardless of anybody's political stance. The gentleman across the nation. And the NFL NBA MLB. I stand with you guys choose to stand in honour your country. That is. The way it is your will said. Anybody else wants that is your choice. I. Respect your choice I don't like it but I do respect it. But I stand with the gentleman who chooses stanton honor the country, the greatest country on this earth. Gives them every opportunity to excel in anything that they choose to? Like professional football or professional athletics exactly. I think it. I think it's worth mentioning here. I know we said we beat the source of, but I wanNA bring up another topic to. Weird Midnight Patriots all of us. May disagree with with what someone says, but we would fight to our desk to protect their their right to say those words. That being said I think one of the other things that the public is piss pot tired of is the privileged wealthy assholes. Being able to have different sets of rules at their workplace than we do. In the Corporate World in William and most smaller companies you do not have. You do not have freedom of speech. Okay. You will be shown the door if you bring up politics religion, etc etc. Okay. With social justice causes or otherwise. They can show you the door. Okay and I don't think I don't think it's Ok these. Use Their their platform on the field or in any way while a uniform to promote their agenda. Okay. Now, I think you and I would agree with this if the NFL Players Association wants to get together and host either a live event or televised event. when they are not playing and they're out of uniform. And they want to tackle these issues donate money to causes give away money whatever I think that would be a perfectly acceptable display. That's fine. Okay. But I think the reason they don't is they know that the cause is a loser. Okay. They're not willing to risk their own money you know to they're not willing to put their money with their mouths are in order to have their protests but but you know somehow everybody else should just shut up and and honor was they're trying to do and I think that that is excellent. You know policy at its finest end. America's PISS POT tired of turning channel I. think that's a big factor as well. As your thoughts unfortunately mean here to. Drive your point. I could see. Getting together having one big party fundraiser l. have running toe board. Hey, you know we're raising all this money great or even several. Yeah Go. But the reason but the reason they're doing it on television is because they can reach a mass audience all at once. But. They haven't had. They had the NFL network. If. The shows a winner, they could sell it to their to their allies in the media. WHO's to say ESPN would cover it. You know for God's sake ESPN has the SP one of the worst ward Joe's ever. Okay and if they want to go up to that into a social justice show fine. Go right ahead or create when like it again. Fine. Or if you know even Amazon or Netflix wants to pick up something about you know the S J W 'cause in the NFL an interview players follow players around their charitable work while they advance these causes grace go ahead I mean I think what they'll find his a there's no interest in be nobody cares they approach it that way that we far less backlash in their their incomes would be far safer than if they continue down this path. the ratings would actually come back to a more normal. That's where I'm talking about I. Mean there are only cutting their own throats by doing it the way they're doing it that that's all I have to say. So that's a wrap for this midnight. Newton Runs For 2 TDs, Patriots Hold Off Miami Dolphins 21-11
"The Cam Newton era is off to a super start in New England as the Patriots Open the post Tom Brady era with a 21 11 win over the Dolphins. Newton rust for a pair of touchdowns and 75 yards on a Patriots quarterback record. 15 carries It was great. It was what you were expected it to be. I'm just so blessed to have this opportunity to be affiliated with an organization. You know, knowing that in itself is a blessing to get a win. That's another added plus Jordan. Howard's one yard TD with 10 14 remaining brought Miami within three, but Sony Michelle's one yard TD and J. C. Jackson pick of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the end zone sealed
Miami Dolphins’ Fitzpatrick Returns To Camp After 1-Day Absence
"Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was back at practice today after a one day absence for personal
Miami Dolphins Draft 2020 – Beefing Up The Defensive Line
"The dolphins coming in with Pick number five. They have a lot of needs to. What are they going to do with that quarterback position? You know what they do. They desperately need a quarter of quarterback. There there's no doubt they they do have. I don't know if this makes you feel any better about their situation. They have Josh Rosen. They have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Are Those guys? You're going to build around probably not. I'm hearing that there's any from Justin. Herbert to to attack overall is going to be there. I think the dolphins are going to surprise a lot of people. They're going to get the unsexy pick here. And they're going to take an offensive lineman out of the first round as well. I wouldn't be that shocked overall. I I could see this team doing it but I keep going back and forth to be quite honest with you of what this what they might do because that quarter quarterback is so important obviously for your franchise as you build but the bottom line is the dolphins have a lot of needs. You know they want to take a quarter. But you know you're hearing you're hearing all this thing about the Wunderlich score you're hearing about the you know. Obviously the injury is there. They have three first rounders. So could they wait a late around and see? What happens to some of these quarterbacks down there or do they just flat out go with a guy that could be more of a sure thing for them at the end? I like Andrew Thomas. The offensive tackle. I think they're gonNA go with the Linemen and the Miami Dolphins fans are GonNa be very upset but this is based on everything that I continue to read. They have sent sent up a lot of smokescreens but I could see them going with an offensive Lineman to say listen. We're we're going to be an interesting spot here either way we go. We're just trying to figure out the next step for us in our rebuild process and a process so I could see this team doing that but I think they go with Andrew. Thomas the tackle out of

"Old. He is not in their long term plans and to me you know i think they need to find out sooner or later with josh rosen is. I'm a little upset but i didn't. I mean we all saw this coming. I think we all thought ryan fitzpatrick into starter but again. If if you're basing it off a preseason no way in hell he should be starting quarterback and i think you alluded to the point there is that there's four preseason games but but many more practices so let's go ahead and take even a further setback and let's just appreciate the fact that maybe this decision as based on what's been and happening the entire offseason and not just the preseason games and i will admit that joshua's has loved a lot better than ryan fitzpatrick and as someone that we just invested a second round pick in you are very tempted to to get out there you know when you kinda mix mix and the fact that he has been accustomed to identifying certain franson than the mic and stuff like that so that when you add layers of that to this conversation you know it's the waters low bit murky than you can even throw in perspective that hey maybe josh rosen was better but where we're going to we brought ryan fitzpatrick in for a very specific reason josh rosen just fell. Oh ends are laughing at the draft but we're going to go with this all along and we are not going to be a very good football team going into two thousand twenty and <unk> either a a fitzpatrick plays more the year in increases our chances of getting the number one pick or we have josh rosen come in and say he comes in the later half of the year like houses then saying maybe maybe arisen comes in later and maybe in that scenario equally as well and takes advantage of an n._f._l. Market that undeniably star quarterbacks so maybe we can play them for a better position. If we end up going the quarterback around two thousand twenty which seems inevitable at this point but anyway and rosen doesn't falter he does fault..

"I'm not really sure if it's an issue per se but we know looking at the reaction that we've been we've been all talking here before we started recording for about the past hour just just waiting for that quarterback news to drop waiting for some other news to drop and you know house and sign. I said you know and this is not the popular opinion <hes> i don't. I don't see a huge issue with this. I really don't when brian flora's says that you you have to look at the entire picture on the field in off the field again. We only see what's happening for three hours a week. In this case we've only really been seeing seeing what's been happening for a few series of preseason game so we have any idea what he's like in meeting rooms. We don't know what it's like. The practice field we don't know what it's like interacting with his teammates breaking down film and so forth and it's just i think it's a spot where you know. I don't think it's as black and white as some people are trying to make it out to be. He admitted that he's never really identified eggs from before or identified mike linebacker when you go against the ravens at one of the best defense in the n._f._l. I mean how you expect a guy like that to succeed. Ryan fitzpatrick patrick has seen pretty much everything that has come his way throughout the n._f._l. In his years in the league and you know i think he's going to have a a much better grasp of what the defense is showing and what the offense is showing so while yes. You may say well. Ryan fitzpatrick isn't going to be the ravens he might not but at least i agree three with brian flora's that fitzpatrick puts the dolphins in the best position to succeed and win doesn't mean he'll be successful successful but i do believe that he does put them in the best position to succeed especially with this offensive line i mean you have to be able to identify that mike identify that front recognize the blitzes that they may be bringing a just out of that coverage and so much more <hes> and in their first part of the schedule is absolutely brutal so i don't have an issue with that when you take your promotions audited for me. I don't have an issue. How's your thoughts yeah. I mean we talked about it throughout. You know several weeks podcast since this prayed all went through. We kinda thought you know what ryan fitzpatrick the veteran been around for fourteen fifteen years. You know he's going to end up being the star of the team flock to him but the biggest thing that kept saying was this was a true competition. Let the best man win and i think that's where a lot of people are a little upset about this because anyone to watch preseason. You know i can't sit here and tell you what happened. In training camp. I can't sit here and tell you what happened each and every day in practice but at the end of the day when the game matter most there's no way ryan fitzpatrick outperformed josh rosen. There might be any way that ryan fitzpatrick outperformed jake aac roddick. He looked better today and yes it was going at sturge triggers guys at might not make the roster but every opportunity he got. He looked the ryan fitzpatrick. Did this preseason. I understand what you're saying. I think this dolphin schedule was brutal touched on a little bit you know back when the trae was made. I said it makes total sense. Start ryan fitzpatrick letting go out there and get cremated those first four games. You have your by your heading into washington. You know maybe they bring a haskins. Maybe it's rosenberg's haskins. It makes sense from that perspective because you can still get twelve games josh rosen but what bothers me most his at from day one brian floors preach competition. You know no roster spots safe. This guy has to battle for this spot. Every opportunity needs to be one not earned not given into you hand it to you and that's pretty much what they did. They handed ryan fitzpatrick the starting job. Maybe gives them the best chance to win this season but he's thirty six years old..

"Would. I've done you know what i've traded that. Put got the extra first round. Pick what you think of it. Khalil mack trade. Oh man y- the hash i understand that john was playing a long game approach and i don't know what his communication was was with khalil prior to that but i don't there's dominant players in this game and when you get a dominant player those trade them i agree even though even though they got a great return form absolutely they really got a good return but i'm i'm in your nearly. I want to end and just ask you this one more thing. Are you going to be any good. It's a great question yeah. I'm gonna be really good and <hes> so many times. When you come back like listen. I'm not going to get caught up in the road kill of that that can be really good and worked harder in it. Might expectations for myself always been higher than anybody can put on you. <hes> do i catch one hundred passes probably not but can help this football team win games blue and you know that's. That's the ultimate challenge. I gotta show that but i got a lot of reasons to feel like i need to go prove it motivated to do it and tell you peter this this young team you know oh it's a talented roster and so the impact you can have on a daily basis on the field certainly but off the field as well every day. I'm thinking how can i make better through my experiences and to show me game. I was taught early on is a twenty one year. Old kid green is can be becoming into dallas it to show my game. You better be able to show it and look at the results because i know what i'm all about jason witten. Thanks thanks so much and really thanks for your honesty your frankness and <hes> i just think a lot of times in life life. You have to know who you are and you have to know what you love. You do and i love your decision. Thanks peter appreciate it so i ran into ryan. Fitzpatrick at dolphins training camp sat down with him for a bit and he's he's had such an interesting career. Two hundred fiftieth pick in the draft played college football at harvard would be it would have surprised no-one no one if he didn't last in the n._f._l. But now a decade and a half later he's got a good chance to start for another n._f._l. Team i give them a lot of credit for hanging in there and and really having an excellent career. I mean how many players who were the two two hundred fifty of pick in the draft. You know basically have been if he starts this year. It'll be the six team that he's started for either regularly or semi regularly so here's ryan fitzpatrick of the miami dolphins you know him of course as <hes> fits magic doc and one of the most interesting careers in my opinion in recent n._f._l. History and just to recount everything ryan was the two hundred fiftieth pick in the draft after a storied in legendary career in cambridge massachusetts. It's for the harvard crimson and you know he's sort of. He's been on eight teams. This is his eighth team. The miami dolphins and we're going to recount account part of that journey here today but anyway we're we're in davie florida in the dolphins practice facility. Luckily escaping the ninety eight degree heat index outside but ryan really really happy to have you on the pot how you doing. I'm doing great. <hes> it is a lot cooler in here and it was outside today. That's for sure but still l. so that everybody knows you have your n._h._l..

"No matter where he came from who you are. And all that kind of stuff then you have to start Ryan Fitzpatrick. But. Vits Patchett himself out of a job though. If it's equal then you have to go with Rosen and his ceiling, but I hope it's not too close. You know? I hope Josh Rosen. Wins this race because it makes it easier for us. Okay. Here's the worst case scenario from what I can tell is. Josh Rosen wins the competition, and I'm sorry for putting this out into the universe everybody. But we're dolphins fans were program to do this. Josh Rosen goes right to three three and two with some really good tape. And then Ryan Fitzpatrick comes in and goes five and six the rest of the year. And we end up eight not knowing what the hell to do again. Why would you say that? Why would you think that's? Right. Yeah. I guess he could play some said, that's that's said. That was like red, weddings. The hell is wrong with you. I put it out there. Just because you couldn't couldn't you. See it happen. Yeah. It's going to come back and be exactly how everything goes, exactly. This is the quickest story of how we know what we're gonna do for quarterback next year. I will say I don't know if it's necessarily terrible thing. I tweeted out at that by week is I think we finally come back from that. And that would be ample time to get him out there. But I think it's a real competition. He needs to go in there and beat Ryan Fitzpatrick. I don't see how a twenty two year old that seems to be pretty damn good. Can't go out there and beat a thirty six year old that enjoys eating cake. You hope they're Josh Rosen. A guy just invested two picks in can go out there and and get the job done. I love cake, by the way. Well, yeah. You like to wear TR's it. Some of those parties to which one's the Princess parties specifically thinking about six or ten of his per year. Don't. Nice. I love to yards Frances. Anyway. So let's get back to my question that my previous question was one of the follow up with kinda talk to Josh Rosen trade, we're all in agreement with will like there is I think very little risks for the dolphins lead. There are some people who think the dolphins give too much for Josh Rosen. Now, here's where I want to make my stance. Clear the dolphins treated down from forty eight..

"This year, but having that type of guy whether it is to just kind of instill belief in the process as it goes forward because he has so many connections with football players or it's because they want him to start. But they also want to keep him for that second year to really be a nice segue for the rookie quarterback that they may invest in twenty twenty either way Ryan Fitzpatrick, I think is a just a classy selection, as you know, this organization. Shen this pendulum is up and it's getting ready to swing down. Hopefully, but it's like kinda stuck up at the top right now. And Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of those guys that as a good person have in the locker room hoping to get that pendulum to swing back down. And I think I think it was a good move for us. Obviously, you know, the actual quarterback plays going to be inconsistent as hell, but because there's gonna be those ups and downs throughout the season. I think that still has the potential to be fun. Even though we might lose more game summaries to. There's a lot of questions about the future of this team at quarterback had mentioned before we talked about Fitz, Patrick, but I'm gonna throw this before we wrap up the show here gun to your head. Who are the dolphins picking for their quarterback? Is it calamari Dwayne Haskins? Drew lock is it just in Herbert Chongo. Vallejo resales last name conto. Your head is any of those guys son. We'll start with you. Yes. One man. Let's. I'm gonna go Herbert. Yeah. And if you're going her, but I mean that was kind of I was leaning. I know that there are lots of smoke last seasonal the dolphins interest in him. But the come away with any of those guys like you said something that would be quite the hall me. I'm gonna go a little bit next actor, let's just go Tyree. Jack's unless you said off, you know, they got Ryan Fitzpatrick to groom a young player this year. And then they're gonna go all in next year while I'll go I'll go with the Tari Jackson. I personally think they're gonna get their quarterback in this year's draft. I think they're putting a masterful smokescreen, and I think they're gonna make their move. I'm not sure it's going to be in the first round of Dwayne Haskins false to them. I think they will make the move for him. But also, I do believe if Kyla Murray starts to fall little bit..

"That Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Jameis Winston just walked in the building for the first time after his three game suspension yesterday for meetings. The first practice is today. I don't know how after Ryan Fitzpatrick went to and won against possibly the toughest schedule for the first three games of any team in the NFL. Are you can take him out of the starting lineup for just give it to Jameis Winston at this point. Ryan Fitzpatrick in my opinion is going to start. We heard Dirk koetter say, hey when the media asked him on Monday night who's starting the next game. He said, I gotta talk to James. I I think that clearly was code word for, hey, we got to talk to chambers. Tell him he's not going to be the starter right away. We'll see how things happen. So I'm pretty confident that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the starting quarterback for the Tampa. Here's this weekend. What about after the bucks by week? Interesting question. I think it all depends. This is a performance driven league. I think Ryan Fitzpatrick basically it comes down to this one game against the bears. The bears like I just mentioned top defense. It's going to be rough the pressure on them. And I think if Ryan Fitzpatrick wins the game and doesn't throw another three interceptions. I think he will be the starter. I think if they lose or if there are a lot of turnovers you got the bye week coming up for Tampa Bay. I think that's a more natural transition time to put genus Winston back in as the starting quarterback. So to simplify it. I think Fizi starting this weekend against the bears. If he does well he's gonna keep the job for another week. And it might be a week to week situation. Maybe two weeks at the time. I don't know. But if there's going to be a switch it's going to be because Fizi has a down game against the bears and the got the bye week. And then they put James back in the Ryder Cup feel more.

"This is an interesting text right here. This I was not expecting today, which is. The Ryan Fitzpatrick zealot has made an appearance in our tax with the following two of those were not even his fault. Let me explain something to you texter it's always his fault because when he's out there, it's just what happens around Fitzpatrick sometimes at six interceptions in urine zone. Sometimes it's six hundred or six. Football's end up in urine zone and the other end zone it's crazy. It's just. The Ryan Fitzpatrick experience, even if they're not his fault. Technically what I'm telling you as he's playing in the game, and therefore people will be reckless with the football on both teams as soon as he ends enters the stadium, yes or no, that's how he plays. No one is allowed to play like Ryan Fitzpatrick plays in the league, Texas kinda right though two of those not as fall at keeping that job. I mean he had a year is right about this though. Twenty four touchdowns at twenty three interceptions. That's what he does. That's ten. We say that he's the only quarterback in the history of the league with a six touchdown game and six interception game. Is there anyone else who's done that. That's his career right there though that you will always be middling. Why do you think the bills went seventeen years without making the playoffs? Because he was right in the middle of doing that stuff. Stuff stuffy did last night. He's been doing this half to half for a dozen years. He's only had one winning season. So much money got mad at the jets. Ten million dollars wasn't enough for his seven and.
