"Sean is the owner of the football team. Reportedly S so that's one. I don't think that Daniel Snyder is necessarily an owner that did Shawn Watson would respect There's a lot to clean up in Washington. Now they're on their way and they're doing it. Um Don't know the Washington as the capital to get that deal, Then why did they pick in 19th or something like that? They were playoff team this year. So they're picking like 19th in the draft. You're talking the first, the second in another second that that's not going to get it done. Even if that first is up near the top of the draft. It's not going to get that. Donna Ryan Carrigan, You're shipping off all your washed up, guys. It's got to be a better package. I don't know that to Sean approves of that trade and I sure as hell hope that Nicolas Area would not approve of that trade. The Texans GM Let's go to Georgia talked to O'Neill O'Neill, Europe on CBS Sports Radio. All right. I want to start out by saying kudos to you. You and I had a conversation last year where I questioned Home Brady in Tampa Bay. Okay, so kudos to you on that. You will definitely spot on with that. Combination between him and head coach, Um and gentle chime in on the shuttle Watson and things um Hey, I just wish I just wish the guy a lot of look, Um, no matter where you go, it's still ball now to chemistry. No matter where you go, no matter how good you are, you still boils down to chemistry. So they're pretty much all I gotta say. All right. Thanks, O'Neill. I appreciate it. Appreciate you, O'Neill. I don't remember you and I have in that Tom Brady conversation. But the you come in and tell me that I was right about it. I did think Tom Brady would be fine in Tampa Bay. So you coming in and saying that I was right, and that you may not have agreed with it. I appreciate that much respect to you, O'Neill. I appreciate that was not waiting for you to call him for the last year. Like wins O'Neil gonna call in so I can fly on it so I can throw it in his face. I had not been doing that. But I appreciate that Did Shawn Watson. He's from Georgia. Man. That's one of your dudes. Falcons for Dish on Watson. I don't think that would happen. They've got Matty ice. They're locked up for a little while longer. I'm guessing he would approve a trade there for sure. Let's keep it moving. Let's go back out to Tucson, Tucson, Representing today like Keith, You are up on CBS Sports Radio. What's going on, Keith? How you doing today, Brother? I'm doing pretty good. What's happening? You know, I think the Manet family has to just go ahead and let this um Host Bill O'Brien. Radio acting wig Just go. Honestly, I think they should just let this Shawn Watson go start from scratch. Um, you get what you can. I know it's gonna be a high price tag, but, you know, You made the mistake of giving Bill O'Brien all their power, and that's where all this started when they got. He got rid of DeAndre Hopkins that set off watching it just it's just been a downfall from there and eventually You're just gonna have to say you know what? We're gonna have to start from scratch because we made bad decisions. Then they made promises to Sean. You know, to let him in on the hiring process, whether he should have or not. That's a whole different topic. But you did it and then you read nicked on it. That's not right. And it's just you created your own bad situation. Now you just gotta live with it. And as far as the Shawn you know what it would just do my heart justice if he wound up in the bay of San Francisco. Thank you, sir. Good. Wait up there, All right? Cheese. I appreciate it. I think San Francisco's a great landing spot for two Shawn Watson. Ray Ratto, who works out there and we had him on in the previous segment doesn't see it happening, but I just purely as a fit. I don't know what the package would be to get to Shawn. But, boy can you imagine to Shawn Watson and Kyle Shanahan's offense? With Kyle Shanahan coaching him. Kyle Shanahan made Matt Ryan and M v. P Kyle Shanahan got to a Super Bowl with Jimmy Garoppolo says quarterback he imagine him with Shawn Watson. Holy smokes. Can you imagine that division with the Shawn Watson? Russell Wilson in Seattle. Matthew Stafford. In Detroit. Tyler Murray in Arizona. I mean, hell, you could argue May the Cuyler takes the next step in your three that people expect him to mean you could argue Matthew Stafford's the worst quarterback in that division. Of Kyla murder takes the next step. It'll be inarguable cause Stafford is what he is at this point. Yeah, they'll make a 30 for 30 out of this Texans downfall if it winds up with Sean being traded and then turning basically into the Cleveland Browns. Not like they were a perennial Super Bowl contender before they started making all these moves, But they made the moves as if they were these moves away from making the Super Bowl and they were turns out they were really far away. For making the Super Bowl. Yeah. Bill O'Brien made the moves. Jack Easterby was in his ear. Cal McNair enabled both of these guys to do this stuff. There's a lot of blame to go around everywhere. No doubt. No doubt about it that that's what happens when you make a head coach, the general manager of a football team. Bill O'Brien ruined it for every future head coach that wants the title of general manager to go with it because it went the worst possible way it could go. He was probably the worst possible guy and I don't say that because I think he's unintelligent. He's a smart guy. I think there's a coach. I think he was an average coach, which is to say that if you're an average NFL coach, it means you're pretty good football coach in the grand scheme of coaches, the Galaxy of coaches Um, but he's impatient and impetuous, and he Impulsive audience. Why we're done big, Thanks to my guy Connor for producing all of you for listening. We'll see. Next time..

"I looked through it and you know what I discovered is it's not a major problem. This is not a problem where there plus on cargo planes or the Baxter terrible. It's a matter of them kind of Lake Lake, optimizing things will get better. So that was Michael had some good things to say. Not only about that, but about how defensive ends in the free agent market may find it hard to get true market value in a year where there's going to be a restrictive cap, impacting the spending habits of 32 clubs or the number of clubs that might be looking for some pass rush help. The bills could be in that group. But there's always a handful of teams that rain cap trouble coming into a year in the off season. This is it's half the league that is in maybe more than a serious problems and That Mark is gonna be flooded with really good players and the teams that can manipulate it and get the guys they want and keep the guys they have. There's gonna be more teams rebuilt from the ground up this year than we've seen in a long, long time. And I mean there's already some decent names in the free agent market of pass rushing players. It'll be out there because their contracts are up guy like Janek and Jack Way, who the Ravens traded for to make a postseason run this year, you know Ryan Carrigan veteran Washington Is a bunch of them. Then you have the guys that could get clipped because of their cost prohibitive contracts for teams that are tight against the cap. Does Von Miller stay on the roster in Denver? Probably not. So he probably he's probably gonna get thrown into the fray. Also, so even the talent that's sitting there right now expected to be free agents. That list could get even longer. We're gonna get really long. It's gonna get really long. There's some really good football teams like most notably the Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles. They've already begun to trim their roster. They've got huge amounts of money to get rid of and get off their books. So there's gonna be some guys out there that can really play and have a lot of experience. Not only is the starter but playoff experience as well. Yeah, it should make for a very tasty free agent season. Come March, 17th. ST Patrick's Day of all Days is when this league year ends and the new one beginning he needs $20 million.

"They could have hung their hat on 13 wins and they have C championship game went up there and patting themselves on the back and they didn't do that. I thought it was refreshing for me because I've just seen teams in this in this organization and years passing GM's pat each other on the back for a nine win and they win season. So for them to do what they did, I thought was really I think refreshing, but If you're Brandon Bean Is your plan, knowing that the Kansas City Chiefs are the team you need to beat in order to get where you need to go. Are you trying to add a couple of pieces on defense to maybe get two or three more punch out of them in a game? Or are you saying screw the defense? We may have to take a couple of steps back. We may have to move some pieces around and create cap space. But I'm adding Zach Ertz and I'm adding another speed wide receiver in the fold, and I'm going all in on trying to score more points than the Chiefs. Or maybe it's a little bit of a balance of both. Like where do you stand on? What the Bill's best route is, if they're going to try to beat and build to beat Kansas City how that gets done. I'm not sure how you find the defense of pieces to beat the chief's office. I don't know who the defense's pieces are to be the chief. I don't know if they exist because you would start by saying Who's Who's our Tyreke still coverage guy? Well, he doesn't exist in the world. Okay, so okay, Kelsey, you can you can come out better plans for calc than you had out there. Real Murano and those guys kind of running around. Although hide is about as good guys you could get for that. But you know what You said in the first place, like just build more on the office. You can do that in free agency. You mentioned Earth. You could probably go out there and be competitive. Get you know another receiver. You know you had the exact Yeah, Why not get when I see them get Robinson to just completely whole hot and clobber pieces, So that's your way. That's your way to do it. The run from 13 to 3 and a slightly better 13 to 3 is super hard. It is so easy to go from six and 10 to 10 and sex. You know, you can just grab a couple of guys and get a little bit better lock and you're there 13 disorder in 32, you know, 14 and two or whatever you're going for it so brutal. If you've got the ability to add an impact player at any position, you do it and this was an off season. You can add impact wide receivers. You could possibly had impact edge rusher too, Because you know you are the bills. You're 13 and three your coaches and well respected. You have all these Melvin, England's Ryan Carrigan's out there. You say we get one more pass rusher. You can do that. You can do that. I don't think you can look at the look in the past. Remember when the Cowboys were great in the nineties. People were like, Okay, How do we stop the Cowboys? We need a guy to cover urban, you know, except I don't think you can excuse that with the chief's right now. It's like you gotta you gotta hold on for dear life on the merry go round with the Chiefs in office and see if you can score with them, And I think that's that's the approach they have to take. You know, the one thing I think I take away from that game is the Bills did run. I think I know I was mad during the game, and I think my one of my tweets got misconstrued as I think I tweeted that I wanted the bills to be better at running man coverage. It's not that they didn't try. They did try in that game, and they just got absolutely torched. Whenever they went to it. I think for me, Mike, one of the things I think I might want to see them, and I don't know that they're ever going to move away from the principles of a shot McDermott zone, But if they ever were to this might be the thing that motivates them. Yeah, I mean, again and that game. You're trying to run man against that opponent. Your factory anywhere, So, Yeah, I'm not sure what you want to go with her in terms of man's own things like that. You do have a strong secondary. You can always improve a strong second there. You can always get the next guy guys down the road there, etcetera. But you do have guys who can excel like got starting with her devious in man coverage, and you can use that. That's what I've never looked at it this season and saying, you know, and I'm looking at the bones problems throughout the season, and there weren't many because they were 13 threes like run defense wasn't phenomenal, especially in the first half run offense was inconsistent. I never worked in the secondary inside. I didn't have a really strong unit here, but maybe you can improve it like incrementally along the way, and that's probably what you want to be looking at. As you look at that secondary in the off season. Well, Mike, I appreciate a man great piece. Thanks for putting that together. I think it helps explain a lot of things. Bills fans were upset about, but didn't quite didn't quite have an opportunity to, uh You know, talk about with with nuance like you did, so we appreciate it. Man has always enjoy the Super Bowl next week, and you know, I don't know who listen. This is such a tough Super Bowl. If you're a Bills fan, because Brady's on one side and the team that just, you know, spank your butt Red is on the other side. I don't know which one of those it's like. Which bullet do I want? I want the one that spreads out when it hits me, or just goes right through me. I'm not sure what I want, but you don't want to see that smug face. That's right. I don't want See him, You know, mouth kissing his kids anymore on TV. I'm done with that. You know, we're all done with it. Absolutely. Usually an offseason bills fans. There's a special because it could be worse. You could be the Texas That's exactly right. And that's the perspective we needed. Mike, We appreciate it, Man. Traitor Week. Thanks value to my tenure in the Western Holland. Right time out Other side. We've got.

"Is the Larry O'Connor show, and we all need an escape now in again and certainly this weekend, I relished the escape of playoff football. Especially the fact that we got to see our team the Washington football team formerly known as the You Know what skin playing in the playoffs and listen. They were up against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And it was a tall order, but, well, Julie Donaldson, they gave him a run, didn't they? Oh, they did. And they did it with a quarterback that nobody saw coming or expected. Anything out of what? Taylor, Huh? Nikki did with his coach used the best word for it. I think it was gutsy and he was playing for his NFL life, and I believe he's given himself a chance to be looked at to have a career. But nobody saw that coming. And you know the team. I bet you they're walking away something they could have won that one. Taylor Hi, Nikki one month ago, was finishing his engineering degree at Old Dominion. He got called up to be on the press. To squad for Washington and now here he is. He did get to come in in the game against Carolina after Dwayne Haskins was benched, But this is it true. This was his first career start in the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I mean, he wasn't even He was out of the league for a couple of years. He was brought in as the emergency quarterback. Heaven forbid something happened to the quarterback room with covert. They needed somebody that could go out there and play double. I don't think anybody thought going that way. But, you know, he led the often, um As best as he could better than many people expected to defense performs well, but unfortunately a little few mishaps and Tom Brady just proved to be too much. And Tom Brady was Tom Brady. Yeah, yes. So, of course, the weapons to go to a swell right, So he's got an arsenal of weapons and lots of toys to play with, and he used them all. So one must wonder. Should can you give us what happened without Smith said It wasn't his original leg injury. It was that nagging calf injury that sidelined him, right? Correct? Yeah, he had that cast injury settle for 2.5 weeks before he went up against the Eagles. You saw on that game to close off this season. There were there were moments for a little hard to watch. You know, he had a Hard time being mobile could escape. The pocket could escape the pressure. And so is they went to this week was a shortened week coming into this game as well. He just wasn't able and didn't think you'd be able to, you know, escape. The pressure in Tampa Bay has one of the Best pass rushers, and they came and then we saw the pressure that Taylor Hi. Nikki was underneath the entire game. And no, he's fast. He's quick. He used this legs. He was like the leading rusher for the team. And Alex just wasn't gonna be able to do that. So he was enacted for the game. So now where do we go from here? What? What are the priorities it too soon to start talking about next year and what the priorities are Sleep, No restart their don't know. Look, I mean, it starts right away. I mean, it starts right away. They have a bunch of players that were on the practice squad that they you know, extended to keep around and coaches really big on making sure players have the opportunity no matter their position, no matter their pedigree. Give them that chance, And we saw that with a lot of guys this season that stepped up and really performs. That probably would have had the opportunity otherwise so You know, free agency will start in March. I think March 18, so we'll start there and kind of see, There's about 14 free agents on this team. We have to make decisions on there's the draft that will be coming up and there's a lot of positions that we know we need so Now the coaching staff is going to be here for at least another week or more putting things together, so not expecting changes there, But the work what does not stop we're speaking with Julie Donaldson. She's the senior VP of media content over there in Ashburn for our Washington football team, and you posted a video. I retweeted it it really It literally brought a tear to my eye. Ryan Carrigan walking out of FedEx in a really solemn sort of it looks ceremonial way. Is this a signal that Ryan's done is this? Is this it? It could be, um, it's too early to say that that is, in fact going to be how this plays out. You know, he's been here for 10 years. Um, he's been the consummate professional. Um somebody of the utmost character and Ability they put on the field. If you ask anybody on this team, they kind of look to him to see what his routine is that he's out there. I mean, it wasn't until last season that he missed his first game. Yeah, Yeah, so he was something you could always rely upon to make plays in this season, his time on the field, just Wasn't the same of what he wanted or what he was used to. Because we had the young guys and chase Young and Monta sweat That coach really wanted to lean on and see what they were capable of. So you know, it did look, his last closing statements with the media was out of the thank you. Wasn't appreciation on almost as if it wasn't a sense, potentially a goodbye. That's not to say that it is, but it very well could be as last time here because he you know, he probably still wants to play and contribute, and he just might not get that time here might be the best thing to let him We'll find that somewhere else. But the coaching staff has not made a decision on that yet. Chase Young defensive player of the year, uh, coach the coach of the year. Alex Smith, Comeback player of the year. Is there any doubt that we're getting those three? Why not? I mean, I think they should be a very good case for that. Coach of the year. Yes, especially given all that he had to endure. Um Personally having to overcome cancer. Getting this team to perform or in better than anybody really expected. The postseason was not supposed to be in this team's plans of, you know, coming together, growth and rebuild. But he showed his team will fight to the very last second. And, of course, Alex Smith. I think that's hands down that I don't do. Is anybody else you can put that conversation? It is his Andre, you know, also Little brag here. I know this is not the official. But it was Fox Sports to their own award tasted when defensive rookie of the year but also Washington football team won the Social Team Award of the year because we have been putting out tons of constant and we love that The fans have enjoyed it. Yeah, I appreciate it, and it has like I said, been a great respite in the great escape in a very difficult year. Julie Donaldson. I enjoyed talking with you every week. Don't be a stranger as big news develops with the team, Please keep us informed so we can keep everyone in Washington informed. You have me on speed the hell any time. Thank you..

And of course, both those games could be hurt right here on Westwood one as part of our triple header coverage. 12 35 to go. Washington 17 Philadelphia 14 and the Eagles are about to make a quarterback change, mate. Sub filled is coming in. He's gonna take over for Jalen hurts Jaws. Nate. Son fell is a big, strong armed quarterback. Very an experience he was acquired from the Washington football team a few years ago is backed up. Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, He's gonna get a chance to show what he's got tonight. He could rip throws. I've seen him in the preseason seen amount of training camp town. The young man has very few steps so sudden filled will open up in the pistol. Receivers left and right son felt standing back around the five yard line takes the snap fakes. The handoff rolls to his right being pressured sub field looking at now, Just gonna throw it away, throws it down to the feet that sad Kurds. He had pressure coming in his face from the veteran Ryan Carrigan, and that'll bring up second out of 10. For many, many years, Ryan Kerrigan has been a thorn in the side of the Philadelphia Eagles. You seem to have its very best game play against the guys in Green. He was in the backfield very quick on that one that was made sudden Phil's first passing attempts since the 2018 campaign Now 20 of 26 in his career, second out of 10 Ball back of the 11 yard, lots. It's not like he's been out there for the entire season. Yeah, I am kind of surprised, but they had a plan. The plan was to plate Nate Sub felt Carson Wentz is wearing a sweat suit inside line. Their plan was to give such felt snaps. Third down six yards to go. Here's the snap such bill back looking right going deep down the right side. This one is intercepted at the 45 Yard. "That you know anything that goes wrong. I'm offensively not take ownership for so it's something that I have to do better. We've been communicating with it, obviously a different voice back there. For some of the guys offensively, So it's just something we're working on. All right, Ross, you watched it, And they had 45 preset a bunch. I don't remember how many just seemed. Toward the end. It was it was on every drive is that Ross because of the experience of the offensive line, guys like Matt Prior to pulling up early in experience and Maybe a little bit of concern. Is it because Kelsey is because the quarterback all the above what? What is it? I blame primarily the players that fall started. I know that sounds simple Glen. But if it was midway through a game than a lot of time, it's the different. Cadence of the quarterback. This was not midway through a game. This was a quarterback who's took all the practice reps all the week all week. It's 3.5. Games. Now I have no explanation for how that seemingly happened out of nowhere. Yeah, right. Cassius Russell Jug mentioned Doug mentioned Jalen being louder. Simply Being louder when he's in the shotgun. Is there any Validity to that. Or that maybe maybe offensive lineman can't quite hear him. But he's been in the shotgun a lot. I mean, I guess there was a crowd a little bit of a crowd there in Dallas, and the guys weren't used to it. So maybe that's a factor. But You know, Look, I think Doug Peterson's sort of trying to do whatever he can have an explanation, I think is unacceptable. I think You know, and the fact that it was Matt Prior, however many times, Dave, I think says a lot about a lot. There was what 20,000 people there, So maybe that was loud enough. They're not used to. I mean, these guys haven't played with any crowd for most the year, so that's about the only thing I can think of is there was actually some noise there that they weren't used to. All right tonight, it Z not gonna be as loud. However, it's not gonna be any easier because as you guys referenced earlier, Washington brings in one of the best defenses in the league. Maybe the best pass rush in the league will talk about it several times tonight. But Ross Tell me, a Zay said here in fear about the matchup between this eagles offensive line was this Dave? The 14th offensive line of 16 games? I think actually, the 13th combination of I went through it is the 13th different Starting combination. There you go. Good work by 13th combination a lot of names in there. You know what? Someday That'll be a great trivia question. Name name half of them. Ah, Ross against Ah, against this Washington pass rush. Yeah, I mean, it's it's a major problem. When it's kind of disappointing, to be honest with you, because I don't feel like we'll get a great sense of what Jalen hurts Conduce. Oh, you know, Brett Tothe hasn't played very much. Matt Prior hasn't played very well. Now they're going against Chase Young Montas Sweat and Ryan Carrigan on Sunday night football with the division title on, you know up for grabs it mean Look, These guys aren't ready for this. I'm sure I would be surprised if Brett Toth is able to get it done tonight. Against these guys. This is a big big ask for the Eagles to have these guys out here. Sure is. And of course, Washington got the motivation that if they win tonight's game, they win the division at a lusty seven and nine Eagles have already clinched last place on once again, there will be no repeat NFC East winner since the Eagles and 0304. That's an amazing statistic. Where's everybody remembers? Washington beat Eagles in this year's open her 27 to 17 when we come back, Dave Spadaro goes one on one with he's not playing tonight. "Just how good a job has Ron Rivera done in year one. You know, he's gotten full buy in from everybody. It's impressive. You watch the little things, though you would call him the hustle plays a guy, doesn't it? The play goes away from him. They run the ball the other way. And instead of just stopping and wait for the next like he goes and tries to run that guy down. You anytime. You see a tackle, you're generally not seeing one guy make a tackle. There's 11 guys. Running right behind him ready to come in and help out and get the job done. This is a team that works hard. And you know that. That is very much in Rivera's image. He was He was all about it. You know, they were gonna do things full effort we're gonna get after it. On. You know, it's not. There's not gonna be a spot for you here and back that up. You made a very high profile moves early on, you know, cut some guys and bench some guys who probably would have hung around because on talent level alone, but he was not interested in that. You know, just one of the real, you know, feel good stories of the year him. I'm taking a team that was in the dark. I am now taking him to the Virgin of last spot. Alex Smith has gotten a lot of love for the store. The feel good story that he is this year and rightfully so. But another big story line has been just how good this defense is. And you mentioned Dwayne Haskins struggling at first and then coming on the second half. You could say the same thing about the defense yesterday as well. You definitely could, and you know, they found a way to keep Russell Wilson from completing those long passes that have been so dangerous and past weeks, Nes Seahawks still found a way to win. They've got a lot of weapons, but but they showed that you know they could take away an aspect of an opponent's game and you mentioned who might be coming for the playoff game. You two teams right now in the driver's seat for that of the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Obviously, the Buccaneers is the intriguing matchup of the Tom Brady coming in with all the success he's had against the Washington defensive line. Chase Young Jonathan Allen Ryan Carrigan AG Group has been on fire this season. I think a lot of people be very excited. See that ball game, see how they stack up against the best. Obviously, it's going to be an emotional game for Ron Rivera a lot on the line this week. This is a team that is unaccustomed to this position a little bit so of being the team that's in the position Tau be the favorite and to be the the team kind of the lead dog in this game. Talk to me a little bit about what you expect to see from Washington next weekend. You know, And you know, the last time it looked like they were may be on the verge of something with Kirk cousins. Years and there were there were back to back years. One of those games was against Carolina or hey, if if they win this game, they're in the playoffs and played another one against the Jade. So then they had other big games. And you two years and it just seemed like they were never able to win that big game Any time. Many times that I was on him, they they shrunk away from it, and it ended up hating. And, of course, the one time they made the playoffs. They got they got run out of town by the Green Bay Packers. Yet it was not a team that was up to the challenge and the biggest moments and I think you're you're one reason for optimism. Here is these guys have played their best football these this year in the biggest game. You think about Thanksgiving in Dallas, and, of course, that Steelers game the week after that, you know that the two biggest moments of the season and rose to the occasion, both times. This is one of those moments here. This is in a nationally televised game with isn't you know what? I must see anything, but this is a came that if you win it, you're in the driver's seat for going to the playoffs. And you know against the Carolina team. That is good has some talent. This is not a sure thing. When we're gonna worry, I'll learn something about the mentality and the transformation that's happened there based on whether they can get the job done on Sunday. Great stuff is always great catching up. Merry Christmas, my friend. Very Christmas..

"Dot com at some point, and I won't spend a lot of time on this because we're doing a lot of football, obviously, but at some point today I will weave in at least 20 seconds. "We'll just just to kind of reiterate what you guys were talking about along this front four and you know to me reminds me a lot of what the 40 Niners had last year Chase Young as 4.5 sacks. Monta sweat. It was a guy. Ran a 442 at the combine has six sacks. Ah, guy that the 40 Niners are looking at around the deadline. Of course. A Ryan Carrigan's got 5.5 sacks You just mentioned The rookie Chase Young in Ohio State. He has four half. I mean these guys of front it's everybody across the board and remind you of last year where you had Bos and yet four and yet buck there yet, Armstead. It was like, who do you block these guys? Tim Settle has five sex when he's a backup defensive lineman in the middle of Iran pain. Jonathan Allen of the Stardust himself settled comes in his pass rushing defensive tackle. He's got a five sex so You got to account for everybody up front. I know Chase Young because he's the number two overall pick in the draft like poster was a year ago gets all the headlines, but they've got five guys who really can get after the passer up front. Why I'm wondering about this today with Alex Smith because Ron Rivera this week and said they were asking him about the type of quarterback Alex Smith is now not just is like a mental leader or, you know, he's not a token, he's not just some some inspiration for the team toe rally behind. He's playing decent football game a couple weeks ago where you threw for almost 400 yards, But he said he's just not as mobile as he used to be. And I don't think we think about Alex Smith. Is this quarterback who was gonna gonna burn you like Lamar Jackson can, but he certainly could can keep plays alive or or wait for guys to get open downfield because he can extend plays. I wonder, because the 40 Niners don't have that pass rush that we're talking about relative to the Washington football team. If we think they're going to get to Alex Smith more today, like they were excited. The DJ Jones wasn't lost for the season. He's like second on the team with two sex right? Yeah, And that's not good. That's not good at all. What John's labeling all these guys to get 456 back of guys with five sex. I mean, this is what the Niners offense or defense look like last year. You've got to create that same sort of pressure for Alex Smith. Yeah, And it's similar to the Newlin Saints game. Alex Smith is a guy that hates that gut pressure. He hates that pressure in his face. So if you get some Interior Ken Law and if you are instead if you get some guys to get some pressure in his face, get him kind of run because he's not mobile. You know, he's not going to get outside. He's gonna beat you in a perimeter. If he has to get off his mark, it makes him decision. Make some plays outside. You have a chance. But you gotta have that contained Russian. You gotta have that got pressure. Yeah, There's no doubt and that's what these guys have. And that's what the four dinners last year had. And you look, you see flashes from Kindelan. That's nice, but we don't one of the problems today. It doesn't look like DJ Jones is gonna go in the middle. Kevin Givens. His wife just had a baby. So so he's not gonna play tonight. Play today. So what kind of inside pressure they're gonna get? We know that the Washington football team has three or four guys that can bring it. What can the 40 Niners bring when their mission DJ Jones? When the mission Kevin Givens, who has been really good? I like kin Law..

"Never way. We're both. We're both great dancers Mark. We're never off rhythm like Oh, I could tell I could tell. I felt that I felt that through the microphones that really did anyway. But anyway, even though that was terrible, it still made me feel great because I am so Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. My friend alone, there's no water. Let the secondary way. Levi Wallace light about fire in the middle of that I was scared where you were taking it. But you did. Well, that was good. Oh, man, I am so excited about this guy, and it's kind of a fascinating A look into what What is different about I you can debo like Debo is such a. He's such a Swiss army knife in in many ways, I do have concerns about injuries with the way he plays Greg, I remember telling you that last year like he he's going to get hurt a lot. I feel like with that other foot contusion right now. Exactly. But Brandon Man I am not Charles. I am so excited about what this What this guy already is and what he's gonna be for for this team for a long time. Well, what's your break that hand him a great pick? Um, you know the relationship with Arizona State term Edwards and and I know they had had their Their eyes on this guy for a while and then Herm just confirmed everything with the type of person he is Number one, and how much The guy loves ball and the guy that goes to Sierra Junior College on Ben on toe Arizona State. Clearly he's got athletic skills, but I think the guy's mindset of how he plays the game Fearless. And Mark, You better be fearless. If you're gonna play wide receiver for Kyle Shanahan. You you better have some dog in you period. Every guy on that on that receiving corps is willing able and wants to go over the middle and not fearing what some of the consequences may be of going over the middle, So he's got all that. He's got unbelievable skill sets in terms of, you know the height, weight speed arm length. Um, and the route running to me, and I think West has done a great job with him and just kind of, you know, continuing to develop those route running skills. I think Wes Welker does a tremendous job with With the wide receivers, but he had a lot of those traits coming out of Arizona State, and that's where they got him. And round number one. Um, you know, I think the biggest thing he does is when you combine all that and then the yards after the catch ability And now what we're seeing on game days here late in the season despite You know the cove it and he's been challenged with that, obviously And when I see a guy and I think I told Greg in the Who's the Seattle game right pop, where they had to throw a 25 times in the fourth quarter to try to get back in that game on, he ran that triple move corner corner route in the end zone to get the last touchdown and The quick twitch and the juice that he still had in his legs. Now is the 25th passing playing. He was in for most of them of the fourth quarter and to still have that kind of Um, you know, snap to get in and out of his break like that. It's ridiculous and you see it every single game. Um he's a very, very good receiver, and I think he has a chance to be a great receiver. What was exciting, You know, the play we came in with was that deep shot down the left sideline when they won that Levi Wallace for 49 yard game and that I guess that's the ball when they have the you know the ball how long the ball is actually in the air with next year and stats? That's the deeper shot the 40 Niners of at all year earlier in the game, he got a DP I on Levi Wallace. But this 1% they connected. I don't think that certainly wasn't deeper than the CJ. Beth 3rd 55 Yard bomb against New Orleans. Yeah, Yeah, they're coming along. Yes, So, But the question is, And then you go back and watch that play, Jim and I know you have You know, Nick Mullen says a nice U shaped pocket. He could get his legs into the throw, and he can throw the ball down the field and allow Brandon to go make it adjustment as we go forward to this game here. And they've got you know as many round one draft picks on their D line is the 40 Niners said last year, and this guy Chase young number 99 is the real deal and Monta sweat getting a Sam's up. Did you just see the match up with a 49 year old line against this Washington football team D line? How much of a challenge just gonna be on. So it's gonna be a huge challenge across the board, and then they can shuttle in some rotation players that that aren't too bad either. When you're talking Ryan Carrigan and settle and I know that Ryan Anderson was a high pick to, um you know a lot of similarities, and I said it during the broadcast of wood buffalo does. They're going to challenge the Holy hell out of the line of scrimmage. Andre. We're going to get after it upfront and they're going to run Blitzers behind it, and I can't imagine they're not going to try to get Nick moving and moving quick in the game and see if he'll get pocket lock and then make a mistake or they'll get a sack or he'll try to get out of there on Ben. They'll have something for him. Now he's capable of doing and I've seen him now getting you know the last couple of games in particular nice footwork in the pocket and moving around in the opportunity to extend plays. Um And he's going to have to and when I said it and earlier in terms of playing, you know this. If the scheme breaks down, the players got to step up. That's it to me. That's pro football and there's great coaches in this league and everyone's going to go into a game and they're gonna probe in the 1st 15 and how they playing us and we're going to adjust and we're going to do that. We're gonna be prepared in terms of the installation in the game plan, and and I can tell 40 Niner fans every week. With confidence that the game plan is going to be detailed. Um and it's going to be effective if executed properly. It's just I I I think these coaches are that good. Um, but if the opponent schematically is all over it, and they have figured it out, or at least some of it The first reads. Not there. Then the second Reed gets covered up now your plane street football Now you're you're just plain And that's to me where this team offensively is gonna have to take some steps forward. When it's not there the first week. Second. Now get out of the pocket and it can do that. And go start extending plays a little bit and thrown off the run. We've seen. It makes him really good throws off the run. I've seen it this year and several examples of it. Um That to me is what I want to Seymour out of out of the offense in terms of the deep ball. I I challenge anybody to go back and watch. I don't know 30 to 50 yard deep ball. The Balkan be out in two seconds. You don't have to have great protection to throw a go route to a three by one receiver. All you gotta do is hold the safety long enough, Even if if there's one even helping out.

They're cheap now cheaper than ever before with the CB, and I know when a pandemic now God willing, we won't be forever and this cap will make astronomical leaps. And you're no longer feeling like you're you're handcuffed. With this or that. I mean, think of all the quarterbacks who were available last year. A lot of them signed one year deals. They're coming. All right back up, So it's like they're disposable now. I'll go get another one. We drafted 1/10 overall. To be gone in a calendar year again asked House Rosen so I mean, it is what it is. That's that's the environment. He's getting a much longer shot than others. Some other people now Is it? The incubator, plugged in and warm and optimal setting. No. What It's a 32 team league. I think it's gonna have a little standing last couple days. I no going in the last week. Nine teams that have one way left. Yeah, So that's the week is not parody. I mean, it looks like parrot because they keep expanding the playoffs. What No, it's the haves and have nots and have not generally case again chasing their tail at coach and chasing their tail at quarterback, and I don't know if it's a fair shot or not, but I do know But if it doesn't improve in the second half of this season, and somebody else is sitting in the GMC, and they don't win too many more games, and this is a draft where the more people I talked to the more I'm convinced that four going in the first round I don't think that he was going with the New York football giants next year. Yeah, I think you're I think you're right. I think the difference between the Haskin situation in the Jones situation is is, you know, Dave Gettleman is still run the show and calling the shots in New York, and he's and Daniel Jones is his pick. Absolutely. Whereas watching advocate Yeah. When Andy's and listening his his fate is tied to General Jones, whereas down a Washington I mean, they've already made that change. Bruce Allen's going. The coach is gone. And now you got Ron Rivera in there, so he has no ties to ask how he got tied to call out Correct. Wow. It took all over, you know. He could start her on notice at half time in the second game of the year and then yanked him after the third game like Yeah, Yeah, well, that was what I was going to kind of rescue. Jason. That's kind of where this is leading me is I mean, with Ron Rivera down there in Washington. Now, I'm gonna have a coach that Yeah, I know. I know him from his time in Philadelphia. I respect him. He's a smart guy. I think he's a guy that's got real credentials and credibility. Is there a chance that Ron Rivera can get that Washington think turned around moving in the right direction, or do you think it may be already? I think it is in the defense of all, and I mean, look, they put as many assets into that. 0.7 at San Francisco did and now San Francisco's been decimated by injuries, But I mean out of San Francisco to the Super Bowl last year, and it wasn't dynamic offensive downfield stuff. I mean, they were. They traded a three for Emmanuel Sanders of the deadline. They don't have anybody to. You know, their front seven was really good. They ran the ball and they rip people's faces off defense without having to bring more than four to do it and I mean, they finally realized like this right? We all love Ryan Carrigan. But you can't be taking snaps away from sweat or young or I mean, they should have traded Ryan Anderson. But they didn't He won't resign there, but Those are the guys who should be playing. And now that they've been healthy for a few weeks in a row, it's um you case Young comes in there and looks like a perennial MVP candidate. All the sudden ifyou're taking, Deron Payne thinks he can get away with taking snaps off here. There. Ain't happening like you're looking at this dude bringing it Sweat is a thing to Then all of a sudden the interior guys pick it up a little bit, and now they're who you drafted him to be so that they're going to stay in games. If Alan doesn't turn it over, he's very limited. In terms of the overarching things they're making right personnel decisions year in year out managing the cap. All that stuff that's not runs for Kay. That takes a village. And they got a big butter build the right village They've never really have before. Even when Gibbs was there. They didn't have the right people around. Gibbs and Gibbs was doing things that aren't his skill set because he learned pretty quickly not to trust some of the people who were NFL insider Jason Locke on four is our guest. And we haven't really asked you about the Eagles. You mention him at the beginning of kind of like the least dysfunctional family like they're just, you know, I know I'm good on being flippant. But yes, in a division of dysfunctional Sze, they're not dysfunctional, but they're clearly three foreign one at this point, as you see the Eagles at midseason. What's your observation? I think they're going to pull away in the second half. If they can just get through the Carson that It takes a village on the field to and Don't you know not? You don't have to be the star of every play. You don't have to be the star of 70% of place. You don't have to be the star 50% of the place and we know that that's coming from a real desire to win. Today, working and sometimes less is more and they've had a little Paul's here, probably at the perfect time for him mentally losing Josh McCown, though, is sub optimal, I would say, because that's sort of one's sense, although you could also make the argument It wasn't really working with the censor. I think they're going to be much healthier. I think healthy Mile Sanders will make everything go around. We'll let everybody be at ease. You know, they like to throw to the running back. We saw some of the explosive place he had this year. You know what he did to a Ravens defense that not a lot of people have done that to in a while. I think it would be fine. If I don't finish above 500. I think they'll win that division handling and if they're healthy in January, and if once it's settled down I don't think it's out of question. They won a playoff game or depending on this wacky format, or to maybe I don't know, Or maybe even more. The margin just slim because of the injuries. I've already suffered. But they've got a.

"The Philadelphia Eagles. Your proxy high, Elliott. Hey, what's going on, Guys? Alright, I'll tell you what's going on, Elliot. Let me do the math here in seven hours. The trade deadline ends. Do you expect the move By Howie Roseman. Ideo. I do think he'll make a move. He's made one each of the last three years in this team certainly has enough holes where you can justify trading a late round pick for for somebody out there. So I think the look at linebacker. I think potentially back of running back is something they'll look at. But I do think it might not be a big move. But I do think how is very active in a dynamic sequence earlier in this show, former sixes jm Billy King Suggests that a move a late round pick for for Washington defense of Ed Ryan Carrigan. Is that a possibility alley I would be very surprised. Look, Ryan Kerrigan is a great player. I think the Eagles would have interest in acquiring him. But from you what you read? It seems like they're not willing to trade him and also defensive end. Look, you can never have enough of them. So if there won't get trade you care again for you know, 56 around Pick you clearly do that. But the Eagles if it's one position that has been pretty good for them, it is defensive. And if they have some young guys there, so I think character would make sense that I'd be surprised if that movie made it all right now. I'm concerned about her, nor good moment here because Billy was really adamant about Carrigan. No. You have on the list right out 31 potential acquisitions by the Eagles. Is that correct? Correct? Yes, HQ is Carrigan on that list. He is not. He was not whatever you order watching. That's that's awkward. Billy. You are not at all in sync without football. Maybe you know what I do. Give me your so we're paying Give May your best possibility for Eagle acquisition by four. Well, I think if there's one big names, you see them go after I'm going to go with Hassan Reddick, the linebacker from their cardinals, see the local guy from here. I know he PJ Edwards did have a good game last night or two nights ago point, But I do think linebacker still obviously position they need to address. He could do a lot of different things. So if you see them get a big name, I think its line back and I think, Reddick mixed. What's the price for something like Radic? He's not. He's not that expensive may in terms of his salary cap price. I think it would be around maybe two or three million against cap, but he would probably be, I would say, 1/4 or fifth round pick maybe a third of his other interests, but I do think he's not going to cost you a first or second. I don't think the Eagles have really anything of value on the rocks here to trade. If you're trading, anything is going to be a drastic and I would guess around 1/4 or fifth round pick. All right, Elliott If if Harvey does nothing after doing something the last three years is he saying something about this roster? Well, I don't know if you're saying whether or not that he's given up on the season or whether this rock could do anything, but I think that what he is saying it, and it's really against his will. If you build a roster full of players that do not have a lot of, you know, there's a lot of attractive trade pieces on it. They don't really have Any older players that I teamed with one. They don't really have even any middle of age player that seems one either. They're not in great position the salary cap so they can't acquire salary. They can't trade away salary. They don't have any great draft picks. So I just think the whole state of the team and their assets is not great. So it's going to be very tough for them to make a move. You know, Let's go to. Ah, what is happening with our favorite eagle, Carson Wentz. Arm down. Could you give me your current take on when's his status as the starting quarterback of the Eagles? My opinion has not changed. I don't think Carson went is the answer A quarterback for the I mean, I think it's become more and more clear every week. I think that the way we talked about Carson kind of change, you know when people talk about, they'll say, Well, he's underperforming like he's not just underperforming. He's been one of the wards quarterbacks in the league all season. And if you would have started a year and I would have came on and said You know what? Angelo? I think Carson is going toe. No be on pace for about 30 to turn over this year, People would have slipped out right, so anybody trying to justify what Carson doing? There's no justification. I thought Sunday night really showed it all four of those interceptions. You can't blame the offensive line. You can't blame the head coach. There weren't drop issues. Those were all on Carson. And I think that if Carson was playing another position if you've any other contracts It would've been benched by now. But because he because of his contract because of the position, they have no choice to stick with him, But it look, he's obviously a complete disappointment. And honestly, you've been. You've been right about cause it for a while now, Elliot and I want to play some for you that Doug said Yes, right. As I've noticed last week, maybe two. That dog is not as offended by questions about benching costs and on the way he responded yesterday he was There are a lot of questions about costed his status and it sounds to me like Causton is that of a fork road here..
