"Going to be Yukon. I think that would still be my pick as well. But I'm not going to get caught doubting at Cooley again. And Xavier, I mean, right now, you've got to, listen, I think you can the best team in the big east. But you kind of also three and two in the big east. While Providence is sitting there at 5 and zero and four now. Now, again, long way to go, we're going to end up playing 20 big east gangs, but Providence is already a quarter of its way through its biggie schedule. And if we're both predicting Yukon to pass them, well, they've got to make up some ground. You know, they got to make up some ground with only 75% of the schedule left. So I do think you count the best team in the big east, but I'm not sure UConn is going to win the big east, although yeah, if I were predicting this last week or today, I would still probably probably go with the huskies. Xavier Xavier very much in the mix to four and biggie's play, they just knocked off Yukon before the end of the year. I feel like I should say that because I know Matt norlander is all over Xavier in the preseason at the very much going to be in the mix as well. All right, let's get to the final four and one. I think if I remember correctly, we opened Monday show eye open Monday show, celebrating my accomplishments from last week. And I think I'm 21, 21, 21. 21, 21. I think I'm 21, 15 and one. And so is dead leg. Is that correct? Yeah, you guys are tied at 21 15 and one 21. After a amazing weekend, 21. Might be your best weekend ever doing the final four in one. And maybe by extension, my best weekend ever, you know? Like maybe just my best weekend I've ever had. Broadly speaking. I won't go that far. Again, you've told too many stories to wear that might be your best weekend ever. Yeah, I don't even remember what I did last weekend. I'm confident it wasn't my best weekend ever. But I did pick games correctly. So that was nice. We're gonna put that in the plus column. All right, you know how the final four one normally works. Normally, I pick four games and then norlander would pick the 5th like sort of on the fly. But here's the deal. Northlander wanted to pick these games this weekend, even though, and I should say, we didn't fire him. He's not fired. He's just an annual skiing trip with his family. And once a weekend, once a year in the weekend, during college basketball season. And that is happening right now. Like, I think dead leg is on the slopes right now. So he wasn't going to be here for this episode, and there'll be a weekend coming up where I'm going to have to do something similar. But he wanted to still pick the games for the weekend so that we would have the same number of picks throughout the season. So what I did is I picked all 5 games. Sue me. I picked all 5 games. So that I could send them to strong jaw and dead leg last night. And norlander, I'm sure we'll turn his picks in to me and nada at some point before these games tip off this weekend. Let's start with game one. It's Saturday new eastern creighton. At number four Yukon inside Josh knocking some pavilion, Josh nakam. Pavilion. You can watch it on Fox. Kim pom has it. Whoo. Yukon -9. GP, I got a question for you. Did you retire? Yeah, I think I just, I come up with these things, and then I get bored with them, and then I just forget about them, but now I can bring that back at any time. Okay, stay on your toes. I could bring that up at any time. Okay, I'm gonna need you to call it up 'cause I'm going creighton. Straight up. Creighton over Yukon. The big upset of the weekend Yukon is struggling right now. They've lost two straight crate and has won three straight by double figures. They're humming right now. I think they match up really well with UConn called full strength. I think this team can beat anyone. I think we get some Maui creighton back into the mix on Saturday. So I like creighton in this spot. Yeah, I think this number is like, I don't think the actual number and what the reason we use Ken pal on Friday is because on Friday morning, the lines for the Saturday games haven't usually been posted yet. So we just have to rely on the Kim pom numbers. I don't think the actual number will be -9. Because some of that -9 is baked into that is creighton took some bad losses, but Ryan Carpenter didn't play in, I think, two of those games. Where crayton started a really slip is when they didn't have their best player, surprise, surprise. So I don't think the number will be -9. And but for our purposes it is. And I will take crate and plus the 9. I think that number is just a little too big. I do not think Cragen goes to you kind of wins, but I think they stay inside that number. Game two Saturday, 1 p.m. eastern. Kentucky at number 7 Alabama inside Albert beans coliseum. You can watch it on ESPN, Kim pom has it. Alabama -6. Alabama here is the pick for me. I would take the points with Bama. I think it's something like 74, 70 type game. Kentucky's just wandering through the wilderness right now on offense. This team just seems a bit off, not totally clicking. I'm not sure if I feel like we've been waiting for Kentucky to be Kentucky and they just, they just aren't, and maybe that starts clicking, but I don't think it's against Alabama. They will absolutely light up Kentucky on offense. And defensively, I think they'll present enough challenges that they get it done here. It's kind of reasonably close, but Alabama wins it. You know how many road wins Kentucky has so far this season? 28. Zero zero. God, I knew it. They have not won a road game. I liked your answer though.

certainly to start the next sequence of the season a little bit less than a quarter of the season left to go He is performed extremely well So far in this game having made only 18 saves Jason But you could say 7 6 or 7 of those have eye opening saves Yeah absolutely And game number 64 of the season for the hawks We're open it'll be a win They're up two to one with 1153 to go in the third period there was a couple of punches there was some flesh flying right at his face He was able to end up on top by the time the lines have been came over to try and break it up but this has been an excellent return back to the lineup for Reese Johnson Again considering it's his first game since December 11th You could see the energy you could see the willingness to engage into the style that he likes which is rough It's physical and a real could return back to this Blackhawks line up and a couple of minutes in the penalty box to never hurt good to see reach Johnson engaged really in every asset He's filling in the fourth line roll left by Ryan Carpenter who was dealt to Calgary at the deadline And doing a nice job of doing so tonight Meanwhile the hawks have it in the duck zone Kublai tried "You're looking at 7 years. Before you're legit, and that's because the players you draft are going to take their 18, 1920, most cases before they even get in the league. And then a couple of years past that before they start to really find their stride. That's 5 years. And that's if it works. They've got unrestricted free agents. Dominic kubelet, Calvin de Haan, Marc Andre fleury. They'll get a draft pick for Ryan Carpenter because he's a functional fourth line player. But they got to move them all. Yeah. Looks like Brian Campbell, the old, you know, the retired defenseman and is really tight with Davidson. He's going to be in the front office in a significant role there. They've had lots of time to plan for this. Davidson's has been the interim general manager almost the whole season. And you know the part of their meetings are, okay, if I get, if I get to take over full time, what are we going to do? And the times now. But I think the cane tapes stuff for you for your question. And even Seth Jones, if that's part of the deal, that stuff's more summer than deadline. I think. Yeah. And you have to massage your way through that with no move contracts and all that. Sure. David pyle has come out, general manner of the Nashville predators. And has made it abundantly clear that their focus is on extending Filip forsberg. There's preliminary talks, not a lot of progress made in the dialog with Philip forsberg's agent. When you look at him statistic and again, because he's a pending unrestricted free agent, that's where the speculation comes from. Could he hit the market? If he hits the market, then Nashville is in big trouble, right? Do they make their diamonds? If he hits the market, they're done. Yeah. How do you explain that to ownership? Because for the most part, I mean, they've come back down to earth here in the second half, but they had a good first half of the regular season. Put themselves. Now, how does David poyle explain it? Or how do I explain it? Well, I'm more interested in your explanation because well, because David Boyle's way is going to be different than mine. My way is going to say, the reason we couldn't find forsberg is because we have Matt duchene and Ryan johansen had $8 million a year. Right. And both of them are way overpaid. And we have Roman yossi 9 million. So forsberg has to fit in between those numbers. That's how you would explain it. I'm not sure the general manager that's made those trades and signings is going to explain it the same way. Well, and to your point, you know, and you can always pontificate, but JP Barry CA, all the big hitters in the agent world. They've done their math. They've done their comps on all of these things, right? And if forestburg were go to the where to go to the open market, I think they strongly believe he'd get 9 plus. So is he willing to leave money on the table because Roman UC needs to be the human salary cap on the national predators. We're about what he believes there, right? There's lots of this to it. How does he get along with the coach?.

"Helpful So then later on is when Winnipeg after a TV timeout was able to just throw the puck in and find their first goal of the day Back inside the hawk zone at the right pointers are shot from Smith They score and this one tumbled through the air I believe it hit Carpenter in front of the net and safely was right next to the near post and slapped that one in the hawk net And the Jets have tied it at one Yeah really not much that the Blackhawks could do right there nothing that Mark Andre flurry could have done Schmidt just dumping the puck in and it caught someone in either Khan Mark Andre fleury Connor Murphy or maybe even Ryan Carpenter I don't know Everyone on Twitter was saying it was either Murphy or Carpenter I thought that flurry got a piece of it but the puck just jumped straight up into the air and on its way down scheifele was able to just S.W.A.T. a stick at it and slap it past mark on for a flurry but after that goal by Winnipeg that game tying goal it just seemed like both teams kind of perked up a little bit There was a lot more activity a lot more offensive chances and you start to worry about the Blackhawks closing out this game but they were able to create a couple more chances One of them being a breakaway for Kirby Doc and we talked so much about Alex to bring it just the way he was able to patiently wait for Kirby docked create some space in the neutral zone enter into Winnipeg zone and have two defenders He had two guys on the side of him just get behind him Doc using his feet and to bring it just patiently calm cool and collectively waiting to just flutter the puck over those two defenders get it to Kirby Doc Unfortunately Doc wasn't able to capitalize on it But it was an opportunity And it didn't matter anyway because the hawks ended up retaking the lead In.

Dallas was eliminated last night, so all their hopes and everything coming into this set a game against the Hawks have kind of gone to the side as far as getting a playoff opportunity. That's not gonna happen. So play with pride and play with heart and gumption here. Second key is work on the defensive structures. One thing Jeremy Carlton is harping on to finish off the season strong. The third key is pucks and bodies. Let's fill the net tonight. How about that? I'm well, right there with you. The Blackhawks in the Dallas Stars. I'm gonna shut up for just a second. Yeah, that's real fan noise, folks. They've been piping it in for a while now up until today, and it's just so great to hear the fans and see him back in this building. Duchene leads Predators over Blackhawks 2-1 in shootout
"That's real in Chicago went past regulation for the second straight day before Matt Duchene netted the lone shootout goal in the predators to one victory over the Blackhawks Nick cousins had the regulation goals for Nashville could certainly played a good game but I mean it's obviously nice to get that one out of the way early and obviously specially the the what is most important Ryan carpenter provided the lone goal for the Blackhawks who have earned a point in their last five games Chicago's Kevin Rankin and finished with forty one saves in regulation and O. T. including twenty in the third period you see serwis me twenty nine saves and denied all three Blackhawk shooters in the shootout I'm Dave very

"Side shoots a scar. The first goal of the hockey game comes in 5 24. Period, number three. It's next cousin. Scoring for Nashville gives him a one. Nothing lead filled curse have had a little bit of a blood inside his own center line, and the puck squared over two to Calvin Don, and it's went over his stick and cousins was home free in one on one on Lincoln and beat him for the one Nothing Lee. That's the first time that Asheville has scored. First goal in a game this season. It was unassisted, and shortly thereafter, the Blackhawks were given a power play opportunity when Filip Forsberg went to the box on a tripping call, but they were unable to convert that left them. Oh, for four on the power play afore the night as they continue to try to fight to get back in it like it was there again for the save of the game, the Han high slot Back over to cane with a top of the right wing Circle Senate toward the net into flex in behind, and now it's dished out in front by yen mark for Kirsch it off his stick penalty time upto Hans got the puck top of the last circle doesn't see the Predator player Forsberg coming out of the boxes, strips it away. Forsberg back through center ice in a block line toward the net. He shoots and linking him with a sensational save as he dragged his right pad down on the ice and rob Forsberg of a sure goal. That might be the best save we've ever seen of. Kevin Langan it There were lots of them tonight, and that was our save of the game. Hawks continue trailing one Nothing because of that stop by Lincoln in They finally got the equalizer, courtesy of the fourth line, dropping it at the point to Hagel. He'll snap the fuck down in behind the president and rolls up the far side front of the benches and Hagel's there to get it. They go quick. Pastor Ryan Carpenter over the press line to camp Left point to Hagel. Top of the right circle. Put it in front. Carbonari, should you scars Ryan Carpenter, who was snake bit at the United Center against the Red Wings. Cashes in here to tie the score at one with his first goal on the season. It was carpenter from Hagel and camp All the three ingredients on that fourth line getting a point. But that would be the Hawks on Lee Go there to kill off another penalty to Dylan Strome a couple of minutes later, but they were four for four on the kill tonight. And they went into overtime had a couple of prime chances even hit the post in one particular sequence between cane, Andy and Mark, But through overtime, the Hawks were out shot 42 to 30, the head of five to advantage in those extra five minutes, but 40 to 30 over the 65 minutes of action. They also Got up to 40% of the face off accuracy for the game. They were getting killed even worse than that throughout 17 face off wins compared to 25 in this contest for the Nashville Predators, also credited with 10 hits and 14 block shots, so under the shootout, we went in both Filip Forsberg of the Preds and Dominic Kuba leak. The leadoff guys of the Blackhawks were both denies. So Matthew Shane ended up going second for Nashville after Shane into the hot zone, twisting on the slot with a backhand he still.

The Bridgestone Arena tonight where the Blackhawks fell in the shoot out by a 2 to 1 score, They lost the shootout itself one to nothing on a mat to Shane goal. But to me the big story of this game was Kevin Lincoln and goaltender for the Blackhawks. You look at the shots that the predators threw at him during regulation and in overtime, 42. Combined shots, blanket and stopped all but one of those, and he is making a great case for himself hasn't lost a game of regulations so far. And his own record now, 30 Excuse me, too. Oh, and two While the black cocks now have points in five consecutive games, they're coming home to play a pair against the Columbus Blue Jackets. So there's a little bit of Momenta mon the Blackhawks side even though they weren't able to extract a win out of Nashville in this pair. They are coming home with points and there in the thick of it Great to see the ditch. It's time for the Chicago Blackhawks postgame show on the Black box Radio network. Here's Chris Boden postgame taking up until 10 o'clock tonight. Let's head live to Nashville, Ryan Carpenters scored. The lone goal tonight is zooming with the media. So you gotta stay with it, and it was nice just to get rewarded. As a line and just a good, hard, hard work and four check and shift and had to make it passing that play stuck with the rebound. But any time a zoo fourth line you can contribute. It feels good, and I just was tough tonight, not getting an extra point. Points and points in five straight. But my next question about, you know, missing out and maybe leaving some on the table. How do you Adam mentally get past that, knowing that you are taking steps forward tonight, a much better game than the game the previous lead against Nashville so You are making advances. How do you How do you stay in the fight Mental later? Yeah, I mean, it's just It's a process. We used to get better throughout the season. No preseason games. You just gotta keep keep getting better as a team, and we feel like we responded better. Um, so what Jeremy and his message was for us last night, and so it was a good road period road game on back to back. Good effort by by link Frankie again, he kept the Senate. Yeah, I mean, it's frustrating not to not to win in this league, but we had our chances in OT and hit a post and just the way it goes sometimes, and so we'll stick with it Nice about the condensed schedules. We play again in two days, so not much time to do on it, and we'll focus on Columbus coming up. Nice car. Be nice. Cool. Thanks. Next question will come from John Deeds with the Daily Herald. John, your line is active. You All right, and you kind of reference that there, But could you guys tell Jeremy was pretty mad about or I just disappointed maybe in last night's effort. I mean, he seemed pretty disappointed with us out in the media. So just wondering, did you guys take it up a notch? Because of that to see? Does he make that pretty clear? He doesn't show a lot of emotion. But when he does, I'm sure he gets the point across. Yeah, He got the point across. I think I mean, he wasn't the only guy that was frustrated. And as players we knew it wasn't good enough. And so we're pros and locker room and we're pros on this team, and we know we knew we had we had to respond. I was locked out of the game and Mean they had their spurts where they were taking it to us, But I think we were about a lot harder and getting under sticks and boxing out and doing those little things that it takes to win. And so we didn't get the win that we wanted to tonight, but I think it was a better response. So what? Jeremy? The message was yesterday. That's right..
